1BCYF Mirabella Pool

Public swimming pool
BCYF Mirabella Pool, managed by Boston Centers for Youth & Families, is a popular summer spot located right by the harbor in the North End. It offers a long enough pool for laps but tends to get crowded with kids and sunbathers, so it's best to arrive early. The pool has reduced hours post-Covid, but visitors can still enjoy swimming sessions by registering on the BCYF website. The area provides skyline views and a refreshing breeze from the harbor.
Nice and clean pools. Water could be a little bit warmer to my liking. They have plenty of shades on one side swimming pools. Larger pool was 4-5 feet deep and smaller one 8 feet. They are having aqua aerobics once a week. Did I mention the views? Omg the view from there is amazing. Charlestown feels like you can touch it with your hand. The boats…
Veronika — Google review
It’s a nice non-crowded pool, but the only problem is there’s one particular lifeguards that likes to flirt with the under age females that come here so be aware.
Jada C — Google review
I love Mirabella, i wish Boston had more outdoor pools like this one. Hours have reduced after Covid but you can still get a good swim session in by registering and signing up on the BYCF website. Bring chairs if you need- the area where you lounge is concrete. There is a deep pool and a longer lap pool with shallower depths. Lifeguards on duty and the bathrooms have sufficient space for changing/washing. A gem of a city pool! Skyline views and a breeze off the harbor make it so special here!
Beth F — Google review
NOT a public pool, its for "Boston residents only" per the website. Sucks for us after spending $150 in bathing suits/towels, walking 20 mins to be shunned away. No pay option or anything, just nope, go away. But good news, you can chill by the splash pad for free.

We showed up hoping to go for a swim as it was very hot out but when we arrived we discovered that it was shut down. The entrance and the building was run down and overgrown and the actual pools were completely empty and had no water. We checked again online and it said it was open and functional which it clearly isn’t. I don’t know if it’s a temporary closure or a permanent one but they need to update their website/google page to avoid people showing up and being disappointed.

The Charles River Esplanade is a picturesque green space that runs along the Charles River, offering a scenic walking and jogging path with stunning views of the city. It spans several miles from the Longfellow Bridge to the Boston University bridge, featuring over 1,500 trees, playgrounds, ponds, and gardens that add charm to the landscape.
I went on a cool sunny day for a walk. Beautiful views. If you like watching sailboats and kayaks and ducks on the water. Plenty of space to picnic and benches to sit and relax or read.
Wafa R — Google review
Charles River Esplanade in downtown Boston is easily one of my favorite spots in the city! This park stretches along the Charles River, offering stunning views of both Cambridge and Boston’s Back Bay skyline. The sunset views here are absolutely breathtaking—think sailboats gliding across the water, warm pastel skies, and vibrant reflections. It's the perfect place to catch golden hour in the city! You can stroll, jog, bike, or simply relax on one of the floating docks or benches. The Esplanade also features iconic landmarks like the Hatch Memorial Shell, lush lawns, and quiet gardens that make it a peaceful urban retreat. On warm days, you’ll spot locals reading by the river, families picnicking, and rowers gliding by. And views of MIT and Harvard across the river just add to the scenic charm—especially as the sun goes down. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful escape, a scenic workout route, or a spectacular sunset backdrop, the Esplanade delivers. Highly recommended!
Divya C — Google review
This place truly has something for everyone — whether you’re into running, walking, picnics, water activities, or just enjoying the city skyline views. It has it all! Even the occasional weekend dance sessions! Absolutely love it. I absolutely love visiting here, no matter the season.
Anushka J — Google review
Nice place to take a walk or run and escape the madness of the city. Quite a few homeless people though, would be nice if the city could solve their obvious problem they have, not sure how but that’s why I’m not in charge of a city. Overall if you are in town and looking a nice place to escape the city this is a pretty good spot.
Steven H — Google review
Fabulous place to see the waterfront. Lots of public art, benches and playgrounds. Very accessible and safe
Maria M — Google review
I frequent this area often, I love it over here. I walk or ride my bike on the bike path that goes along the charles river. There are great spots to stop and take a rest or relax for the day. Maybe throw a hammock up in a tree. The ice cream truck goes through there so you can grab a snack or refreshment. There is a cool playground for the kids to have fun at. The also have all kinds of events at the shell sometimes they play movies there and everyone can sit on the grass and enjoy themselves. Its a great place to go. You can rent boats or kayaks from the boathouse over there which looks like a lot of fun. There are some beautiful sunsets and views for photos. I cant say enough good things about this place. Its a nice place to go.
Nicole T — Google review
Beautiful area to walk, run, bike, or relax. The view over the river is lovely. Go in April when the cherry blossoms are blooming and you won't be disappointed!
Robert J — Google review
No shortage of good vibes at this iconic Boston riverwalk. On a clear sky evening in the warmer months, the docks and benches are filled with people from all over taking in the romantic scenery with sunset. Even in the winter with the cold river as a backdrop, the Esplanade remains a place to seek solitude in our bustling city. For a special experience, visit during the 4th of July celebrations.

Swimming pool
The Francis J. McCrehan Memorial Swimming and Wading Pool is a spacious 30' x 45' salt-based water system pool, making it one of the largest in the Boston and Cambridge area. It offers lap lanes and a leisure area for both challenging workouts and refreshing dips. Despite occasional delays in opening due to staffing issues, the lifeguards engage with children, organizing activities like soccer games while waiting for enough staff.
Love this place been coming here da last couple years the staff is great they are very attentive the place is great and they do pool checks n the parking is free it's a gd place just FYI due to some construction the kiddie pool is closed buuuut the bigger pool has a small bout 2ft area for the kiddies
Juan S — Google review
Nice community pool although it would be nicer if they had lockers. Can be crowded on a nice daybut I enjoyed chatting with the kids. There is a parking lot but it also fills up on a nice day
Mary ( — Google review
Ive been coming here for years now. The life guards are pretty nice, the only thing I will complain about its the bathrooms… absolutely disgusting & theres no curtains in the changing rooms or the showers. Other than that the pool is great!
Bugs B — Google review
Nice place to take kids. Has sprinkler park as well. Can bring food cook out make it an all day event Life guards on duty
Amy M — Google review
Pool is functionally useless for working people since it's not open before work hours. Allow swim-at-your-own risk lap swim from 6-9AM please.
Daniel — Google review
Very unreliable, often closed, ask us to get out of the pool very frequently, gets super crowded, and bathroom/shower facilities don't look clean at all.

They need to make more parking because I drove all the way from Lynn and there was no parking I was so sad :(

Equinox is a luxury gym with an expansive spa that offers treatments designed to improve skin appearance, firmness, and anti-aging. It is not easy for non-members to enjoy the gym (having to pay $50 for a day pass), but it is worth it for those who make the trip because of the excellent fitness options on site.
Enormous equinox. So much space and so well laid out. I wish I took pictures of the yoga studio but I didn’t bring my phone to class. It was the most beautiful studio. Flooded with light. Tall ceilings and curved windows. This facility is just so enormous and they really do such an incredible job keeping it so clean. Thank you for having me!
Carly P — Google review
It is sad for me to write this review because I have been a member of this club for many years and loved it. I built friendships through the programming and believed this gym would always be a part of my life. However, recent decisions and changes from the corporate side, attempting to make this club like the other clubs around the world, have taken away many of the programs that made this gym special. These decisions are not made consulting the current members. Instead of seeing the great asset this club is, corporate staff, who don’t live in Boston, are trying to make this club more in line with “the brand.” I do not fit “the brand” they are trying to sell and they don’t care if they lose my membership in the process.
Mindelynn G — Google review
I recently cancelled my membership at Equinox Sports Club Boston due to relocation, but I couldn’t leave without sharing my wonderful experience! I first joined Equinox in November 2022, and after a brief stint as an employee at Equinox Bethesda, I returned to Boston and rejoined as a member on June 1, 2024. Every moment spent at this club has been truly exceptional! First, I want to express my gratitude to Matt Strutt, the General Manager, for creating such a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. Second, a special shoutout to Michael Mlambo, my membership advisor, who was always there to help and make the process smooth and enjoyable. One of the most impressive changes I noticed upon my return was the upgraded equipment and furniture throughout the club. It really enhances the workout experience and makes the environment feel fresh and inviting. Since I rejoined, I participated in over 100 group fitness classes, and the instructors are simply top-notch! Emily Comerford’s Playground Experience class was a standout; her energy and creativity made every session a joy. Paula Fonseca’s Pilates classes were fantastic for building strength and flexibility, and I always left feeling revitalized. And Maryanne Blake’s Ropes & Rowers class was an exhilarating challenge that kept me engaged and motivated! As I relocate to the Midwest, I’ll truly miss this incredible community. I made a ton of friends at this fitness club. Thank you, Equinox Boston, for the amazing memories and the fantastic fitness foundation you’ve helped me build. I’ll carry these experiences with me wherever I go!
Mangesh P — Google review
Equinox in Ritz-Carlton Boston's outstanding quality and atmosphere not only make using the gym a pleasure but also motivate me to come for my daily workouts. In addition, the outside view is amazing. Had a boxing class with Jim. Great explanation of the moves. Really fun class. Felt so energetic after it. Recommend to attend.
Kate L — Google review
I’m extremely happy with Equinox—the services they provide, the spacious workout environment, and the unmatched variety of equipment and classes. More than just a gym, it’s a place where I can focus on both my physical and mental well-being in a healthy way. 2025 is already off to a great start, and Equinox has also played a positive role. I’m truly grateful for everyone involved! 💕
Myleena D — Google review
Recently members who sent their kids to a very popular and dearly loved Kids Club program at this gym received an email that in 7 days the pre-school would be ending and there will be no summer camp programing. Justification was given that the Kids Club is not part of the Equinox "brand." Now a group of 50 parents are scrambling trying to find pre-school and summer camps. No amount of "luxury" amenities makes up for this type of behavior. It is morally and ethically wrong.
Christine S — Google review
The steam room here barely gets hot and I’ve explained to them since October compared to the other locations something is wrong. But it’s still not right and it smells like a mop bucket in there. Not what I expect for this location which is the closest to my apartment. The Franklin St location has the BEST temperature steam compared to Seaport, Chestnuthill, and Avery St. they all differ
Shannon L — Google review
Found a wedding band while I was working out and attempted to give it to a “coach.” He apathetically told me to bring it to the front. I explained I was in the middle of a workout and he just said “I’m going to be on the floor for another four hours.” If I left something behind I would hope that an equinox employee would take some ownership and help to get it to the right spot.

Veterans Memorial Pool is an indoor facility that offers swim lessons and features a gym with basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts. Visitors have expressed their admiration for the pool's cleanliness, spaciousness, and scenic view of a nearby pond or lake. Many appreciate the fact that it is free to use. Situated by the Charles River, this pool provides a clean and lovely environment for visitors to enjoy on sunny days.
Yesterday was my first day coming to the pool for about three years and I love it so much. It’s very clean, really big, and you get a really nice view of a pond or lake (I’m not sure what it is) the pool is also free, so don’t worry about bringing any money.
Niya J — Google review
Love this pool-it is clean, well cared for, and well guarded. The view is also wonderful. As for the folks who complain about the lifeguards using the pool during pool checks, remember that these guards are standing in the heat keeping you safe while you and your kids frolic and play in the pool for far longer. I would rather have a refreshed guard keeping me safe, wouldn't you?
Liz S — Google review
Amazing pool lovey great pool. Unfortunately there are old people are at the pool who complain and record, boo boo I say to the Cambridge friends who ruin my pool experience. Personally this is literally the best pool I have ever been to yahoo I say yahoo. I also think the guards are doing a stupendous job yippee!!!!
Master S — Google review
The pool itself is very nice; clean and big with a nice view of the canal. The entrance is pretty scruffy though and there’s no shade around the pool so remember sunblock and/or something to cover for the sun. There’s a Trader Joe and Starbuck right across the street which is a plus.
Casper O — Google review
Great public pool! Thank you lifeguards!
Arie H — Google review
The pool itself is great but each time I come this summer I have seen the teenage lifeguards are horseplaying while many kids are swimming, then repeatedly diving and doing flips into the pool in front of kids during “pool check”.
Dorothy T — Google review
Came around 5pm and nobody was in the pool, staff said the pool is being cleaned and they need to do water tests. Asked the boy at the front how long he said he’s not sure didn’t rlly give us any info, told us he’ll go ask his manager, never came back to give us an answer. We went to go sit down outside in beaming hot sun and asked the life guards, someone said 15-30 mins. 45 mins went by and it wasn’t reopened. At this point it’s 5:55 and nobody has updated us and this place closes at 6:45pm.. none of the staff knew when it’ll reopen so everyone is just standing around frustrated. just ended up leaving even at 6:15 it never reopened so it was just a waste of time at this point just tell everyone to leave to save their time.

Artesani Playground Wading Pool and Spray Deck is a family-friendly recreation area located along the Charles River in Brighton, Boston. The park features a large wading pool with tall spray structures, two fenced playgrounds, picnic spots, and easy parking. Visitors can enjoy chatting with ducks by the water's edge and make use of amenities like showers and changing rooms. The lifeguards on duty ensure a safe environment for kids to have fun in the warm water while parents relax in the shade.
A gem! Lifeguards do a great job, nice mix of shade and sun. Great splash pad for kids that don’t want to be in the wading pool. Bathrooms, gorgeous views of the river around it. Amazing playground. Lovely!
Lisa D — Google review
Great for younger children. Wading pool and small climbing structures will keep the kids occupied and entertained. Bathroom facilities on site are clean and convenient. The understated amenities included the adjacent Charles River walk/bike path, community gardens, and boat rentals nearby.
David G — Google review
Great pool, playground and splash pad. However, the cleanliness needs to be managed. I know the lifeguards make a difference in showing up for the pool but DCR needs more cleaning crew. And generally people need to stop bringing their dogs to poop around the splash pad! So unsanitary. But they also need a better water draining system since water gets pooled around places to sit or the trash. Also, the water flows out to the parking where it covers up paint. Be careful not to park in the hidden ramp spot! Ticket is $100 for that mistake.
Hannah Y — Google review
We were really looking forward to our time at the wading pool. I traveled for 45 minutes from the South Shore, but I've now been waiting over 45 minutes for them to open.Online says it opens at 10:15 and its now 11:30.They keep saying it will only be an additional 30 minutes, but it always gets extended. It's a great place, but the staff is not efficient, and they keep us waiting.
Cristina F — Google review
First time here on day 2 of spring 2021 and would be back in summer. People have started coming out gradually and when it is green all over, would be definitely more lively. Kids will enjoy as well if they go on biking, running - playground and the splash pool would be fun as well. Glad that we were here this morning.

Big playground in the park near the Charles River. Has 2 splash fountains territories for the kids. One with the small pool is closed. There is a big free parking, restrooms, tables, benches. The playground is diverse and has a zone for small kids and older kids. We enjoyed this place.

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Charlestown, the Charlestown Community Center is a fantastic hub for both relaxation and recreation. One of its standout features is an inviting indoor pool that remains accessible throughout the year, making it a perfect spot for swimming enthusiasts or families looking to enjoy some water fun regardless of the season. Conveniently located near the scenic Boston Harborwalk, visitors can easily combine their swim with a leisurely stroll along the waterfront.
Great field, nicely maintained, was there on a Sunday morning 8:30am for my Daughter lacrosse game, had a pizza food truck in the lot with pizza and calzone options, 1 being a breakfast pie or calzone, had I known haha, as well as coffee and hot chocolate, I'd be happy to go back..5☆

This review is specifically for the pool/locker room for the pool. The pool is 5 stars and the locker room is 1 star, however who really cares too much about the locker room; you are there for the pool. Lifeguards are nice, and so far when I’ve been it hasn’t been too busy - hopefully this review doesn’t change that…

The turf had so much litter that it required 25 minutes to remove larger pieces of trash from field such as water bottles, soda cans, cotton candy bags, Popsicle sticks and food wrappers/ bags. It needs to be surveilled to reduce vandalism

Standard track with astroturf field. Great condition. Lightly fenced in but gates are always open. No public water sources are on or around the track. I ran on it during heavy rains and the end of the track closest to the school flooded over lanes one, two, and three, but that is to be expected.

Great space for a slow walk or for any type of sport really. Always a great view from here. Something I noticed recently during a community cleanup is that there are gloves and maybe needles near the community garden. Keep an eye out for that.

Nestled in a serene setting, the Allied Veterans Memorial Swimming and Wading Pool is a delightful oasis for families and individuals seeking relaxation and fun. This inviting facility features both swimming and wading areas, making it perfect for all ages. With its well-maintained grounds, visitors can enjoy sunbathing or picnicking nearby while children splash around safely in the shallow waters. The pool serves as a community hub where friends gather to create lasting memories during warm summer days.
Clean, not crowded, comfortable! Must go early if after 2pm expect to wait outside in line! You can bring in beach chairs, towels and water! No umbrella minimal spots of shade so SPF 50 recommended! No food permitted, pack a cooler in car and sit outside to eat if needed!

Horrible place. Rude lifeguards. Long lines. Had to wait in line for two hours in 90 degree weather. Teens keep cutting in lines. Bathrooms and showers full. One time I went in and as soon as I entered they shut down the pool for the day bc someone decided it was a good idea to poop inside the pool. Don’t come to this place. It’s not worth it.

god, where do i start. today, on a super hot day, my husband and i decided to come here. checked the opening hours, all good. i told my husband laughing that it’s probably closed because they just close randomly when they feel like it. he was like no way, what are you talking about. but once we got there, the pool was closed. the note on the door said “closed today, will open tuesday or wednesday”. what? so not only it is closed without any explanation on one of the hottest days of the year, but “we are not sure when it’s gonna be open”. the pool looks full and clean by the way, just let people in, but no. nothing online about these random closings either, not once, even though this pool does it often. another detail is that when it’s miraculously open, staff loves to just make people wait in line for no reason in a 90 degree heat. just let them inside and let them sit there if it’s at capacity! there was one incident when a bunch of kids where in the kids area with fountains and stuff (that day pool was also closed for no reason again). and it just started raining, like pouring, suddenly and very badly. multiple people asked to just be let inside the building to wait out the rain and the staff didn’t let us in because “nah we can’t cause this way we become responsible for you”. what? responsible for us sitting there? inside? not doing anything? the guards and other staff are incredibly rude and lazy, can’t wait to get everyone out of the pool but never rush to open it up again even if it’s already time to open it. i can’t wait for them to fix this place, it could be so good with better management and staff.
Kate Z — Google review
Good pool but don’t come here if you don’t want your belongings stolen, these past couple days peoples stuff have been stolen out of peoples bags by someone and the staff does nothing to stop it, and this past 2 weeks since they first opened they have been closing the pool at 2:30 for no reason.

When both days for the heat wave the first day couldn't get into the pool but we got into the park the second day spend the whole day at the pool real nice comfortable not so crowded bathrooms are open they always have a ice cream truck at the entrance serving ice cream soda my grandkids love this place

This place is nasty I visited this week and it was a bad mistake because my son wanted to go i went and there were bandaids in the pool and trash i don’t go in the pool because its a city pool and you shouldn’t too

This pool is overall OKAY. I like how it has areas in the pool for varying heights. However I dislike the fact that the lifeguards make us wait outside. The other day I went to the pool with my siblings and cousins. We arrived at the pool at 2:30. We entered the actual pool at around 4:20. But this wasn't completely the pool's fault. A BUNCH of teens were cutting in line. Another day we went to the pool but as soon as we entered the pool, they blew the whitsle instantly because some kid pooped in the pool and they had to close it for the day. I also detest that there is ALWAYS HAIR AND BANDADES IN THE POOL AND THEY ALWAYS GO ON MY ARMS OR LEGS. Thank you for your time ;))

Latta Brothers Memorial Pool, located in Somerville just north of the city, is a popular free swimming and wading pool option. The pool is well-maintained with minimal leaves in the water and offers a refreshing experience on warm days. It boasts an Olympic-length size and friendly, attentive staff including lifeguards. However, there are no lockers available and it can get quite busy at times due to its popularity.
Nice long and wide pool, kept pretty clean compared to other in local DCR pools (minimal leaves in water), water is a little cooler than indoor gym pools but it's perfect on 70+ degree days. Very well kept pool and facilities, although the shower water is hot and you can't change it. I hope that gets fixed soon. The hours are not bad and the pool is in the sunny area of Foss park (no trees block the sun to the pool). My new favorite Mass DCR pool for the summer season.
H. F — Google review
Huge Olympic size pool. Reasonably clean given it’s a public and open pool. Many lifeguards around. It’s free with loads of parking beside it. As a state pool, they have 15 mins break/pool check every 2 hours when everyone needs to stay out of water. It gives the lifeguards a break and a chance to check for water quality. If you want to maximize your time in the water, you can time it to avoid the pool check. If you want to avoid the crowds, either go very early right after they open or very late like an hour before they close.
Star C — Google review
Pros: 1. Good swimming pool(claimed to be olympic length). 2. No cost, fairly well maintained for a public swimming pool. 3. Friendly, attentive staff and lifegaurds(4 around the sides of the pool). 4. Family friendly place. Cons: 1. No lockers, not even paid options. 2. Often very busy , many people will hangout and move arbitrarily and disrupt you if you are attempting to swim in lanes. Expected in public pools i guess. 3. Open air pool , and heavy usage means bottom of pool is filled with leaf litter and some other unwanted objects. Though it is frequently cleaned and tested for water quality. 4. Very shallow pool, just about 5 feet in depth. Overall its a really good pool, best to go just after 11:00 AM opening or after 5:00 PM. Those are the times when the pool is least crowded.

Foss Park is currently undergoing renovations (as of 7/10/20). But the park still has plenty of shaded benches to sit on. The pool has a 100 person capacity right now, and there is always a line to get in. However, once you are in, you can stay until 6:45 pm when it closes for the day.

I went to this pool on June 26, 2021, and this place was FILTHY. One section of the pool was COVERED in leaves and the ground has a lot of dirt. This pool was very dirty, and I’m questioning about the chlorine because there was no smell of chlorine. This pool wasn’t like this before. This pool used to be clean and leaf free. But there were leaves, dirt, and dead bugs all around the pool. I don’t think I will be coming back to this pool again.

Paris Street Pool in East Boston is a popular aquatic facility offering various programs and a spacious pool area. Despite needing some renovations, the lifeguards are friendly and attentive, making it a great place for aqua classes and low-impact workouts. Recent renovations have greatly improved the locker rooms, showers, and overall cleanliness of the pool. Booking open swim sessions online is convenient, and the staff is known for being friendly and helpful. The community has welcomed these improvements as a refreshing addition to the neighborhood.
It's a great swimming pool for kids and adults. The renovation was amazing and they changed the lobby and locker rooms. Even adding a family room. And the lockers aren't rusty anymore and the showers have hot water and cold water. I've been coming for 6-8 years and every time I come I always want to come back. The life guards are really friendly and the best staff is D way. There is also swimming classes and a swim team if you want to sign your kids in to learn how to swim and for them to learn if need in life situations. There's also recreational and family swim if you want to just swim and play with friends come to recreation and family swim. Overall the pool is amazing and I highly recommend it if you want you or your family to enjoy a great swim. And lastly PARIS STREET!!!

My family moved to Eastie a decade ago, and my daughter and I have been swimming laps at Paris Street Pool during all those years. When we first started, we paid $40 for a family fee and the pool was desperately in need of a renovation. What a transformation since the renovation! We now have a stunning local pool for free as Boston residents. Better than this beautiful pool, though, is the staff. Friendly, professional, thoughtful, and helpful, the staff make everyone feel welcome, like we belong to a community, not like we're just swimming at a local pool. A special shout-out to the pool manager, Abdul - who sets the bar high for his team - for hiring some amazingly wonderful, and sorely needed, female lifeguards, who keep the locker room clean and report problems that would otherwise go unnoticed or unaddressed. An extra-special recognition goes to Daniela, who transformed the locker room area overnight when she was hired. Indeed, every member of the pool staff genuinely cares. Such a welcome gift for our Eastie community.

edit* photos that you first see when you search for this pool are not accurate because they have since completely gutted and re-did the pool! 💦🐟)) however my photos were taken on 7/5/2025 and are accurate! regardless, they completely renovated & re-did the pool! it re-opened last summer (2024) & it’s an absolutely gorgeous pool/facility! it has 1 lap pool and 1 children & family friendly, modern, accessible, zero entry pool with a built in wheelchair ramp. the pool also has some fun water spray structures such as a mushroom waterfall. they also have family restrooms/changing rooms with HOT & cold showers. ☺️💖both pools are very clean. 🤩 ‼️it should be said- that you have to register yourself and/your family or guests on WEEKENDS via their website. (must be boston resident however it’s FREE!💖) ➡️a note on parking-2 hour street parking and charlestown resident only street parking. love this pool and highly reccomend it!

I really like this place. It's not a shiny modern chain gym but more of a quirky local business with a lot of things to offer (tennis, pool, cardio, strength, sauna etc). Fitness is not crowded at all and all equipment is well maintained. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and chill. No corporate BS here. What more could you ask for.

Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. This is one of the nicest health clubs I've seen. It isn't quite equinox, but it also doesn't cost a million dollars a month. Some of the other patrons are inconsiderate, talking out loud on cellphones and such, but you're always going to have a few jerks and there's not too many of them. There are far more dummies at PF. For the most part, people are nice and considerate. The men's locker rooms could be a smidge cleaner and could use about 10% more maintenance like fixing broken locker doors promptly. I suppose that's more expensive and I don't understand how they make money anyway, the place is about an acre in size and it is never full, even when the parking lot is jammed. It must be from the tennis fees.

After being loyal members of DHAC for several years, my husband and I cancelled our membership because of extremely disrespectful behavior by the senior trainer towards my husband. The day after the 2024 election this man verbally attacked him, without provocation, for what he assumed were his political views. We were shocked by this total lack of professionalism on the part of a staff member toward whom we had always shown respect. We then joined the local YMCA and were pleased to find an excellent facility at half the price!

We love the swimming program for children, here! The water is warm and so is the entire pool area. The instructors are kind and funny. Parents can observe in the pool area or in a separate room outside. The showers are not crowded. There is plenty of parking and the reception is well staffed and organized. Our kids want to come to their lessons and they made a lot of progress! We moved them from a different program at a different pool and we are so glad we did. They used to fight us and refuse to go to swim class because instructors were strict and the water was cold. But at the Dedham Health and Athletic Complex Center our kids have everything they need to feel confident and comfortable. Thanks a lot!!!

There are so many choices for classes and all have wonderful trainers facilitators. There are two pools including one just for adults. There are also several jacuzzis and saunas as well as a steam room. It is the best decision I made post retirement. I highly recommend this gym.

Great place. It’s clean and there’s a ton to do. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There’s two indoors pools (one of them is salt water), indoor jacuzzi, sauna, lots of indoor tennis courts, plenty of outdoor tennis courts, indoor racket ball, an indoor track, indoor basketball courts, a huge facility great gym with plenty of equipment, a martial art center… the list goes on. They even have a huge water park with wave pool. Not to mention a physical rehab clinic that’s attached I’ll also say do a good job with the upkeep. I’m sure that I’m leaving out a ton of programs and other amenities. It’s definitely a club and not just a gym, the price is reasonable considering the size of the facility. It’s a place that I look genuinely forward to going each day for a workout.

The MIT Museum in Boston, Massachusetts is a haven for science and technology enthusiasts. The museum showcases a wide array of exhibits including kinetic sculptures, robots, holograms, and interactive installations that aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Recently relocated to a new purpose-built space at the heart of MIT's Kendall Square campus, the museum boasts 56,000 square feet of engaging galleries spread across three floors.
I had a fantastic visit to the MIT Museum! It’s such a cool place, blending science, technology, and art in a way that’s both mind-blowing and accessible. The interactive exhibits were a lot of fun, like the AI section where you can spot real versus fake videos or even compose a poem with a computer. The museum’s new space in Kendall Square has a modern, open layout that makes exploring really enjoyable. I also appreciated the historical artifacts, like the Apollo Guidance Computer, which show off MIT’s groundbreaking contributions. I do wish they’d had a free pass for us Harvard fellows too, but it was still well worth the visit! It’s an inspiring spot for anyone curious about innovation, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out!
George C — Google review
Great museum with an accurate selection of pieces showing to the public MIT’s contribution. The collection shows different periods advancements from early XX century technologies to contemporary robots allowing visitors to interact.

An amazing experience! The MIT Museum offers a perfect mix of science, technology, and creativity. I loved the interactive exhibits and the fascinating stories behind the innovations. Great for anyone curious about how ideas shape our world. Definitely worth visiting.

Amazing science and technology museum! Will definitely inspire you to do high quality research in your area. You can easily spend 2-3 h here. Lot of good information to read if you're interested. Engineering students and graduate students might really enjoy the exhibits. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Shaik A — Google review
The MIT Museum felt like a museum made up of the work of graduate students and recent MIT graduates, including work relating to the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Biology. This was alongside interactive installations and some rare, vintage items. There were also more artistic installations, so overall it was quite varied in its offerings. I would say it did not blow me away completely, though I did enjoy several parts of it. It was also a bit small to my liking, just two floors and one of the floors (the 3rd) was around half. Worth a visit nonetheless and it gets you in the MIT engineering and hacking culture but also the wonder of biological discovery and CRISPR.
Raúl F — Google review
Is it terrible of me to say that I miss some of the older exhibits and enjoyed the museum more prior to the renovation? I know that sounds awful! But the small nature of the other museum and some of the exhibits, such as the kinetic machines, were really attractive and fun, and this one seems as if it is somehow more sterile. It also seemed as if the older museum really catered more for inquisitive adults, and this museum had children running all over the place! There are so many museums and exhibits in the city that really cater to children, that it would be wonderful to have a museum that is more suitable for adults. I have children; they are older now, and I’m not anti-children, but the older museum felt more adult – focused. This one also felt like it was singing the praises of MIT more, which is great, that’s why we’re there, but I would love to know what the researchers are up to, without having an interactive exhibit that asked me what I like most about MIT. I really don’t know what I like most about MIT, because I don’t attend MIT. And the exhibit asked me for adjectives to describe MIT. I think that feels more like an assignment for the students and professors, and perhaps that’s the point of this new museum? Perhaps it’s supposed to be a hub for MIT students and professors and also…visitors. Regardless, bring back more exhibits that are interactive/movement based. Again, I’m returning to the kinetic exhibit, but have things that we can really watch and engage in, rather than looking at an object and having the explanation next to it on the wall. Yes, there were a few things to engage in, especially with the AI section, but we can write a collaborative poem with AI at home. I’m wondering how they could make things more interactive and also capture the attention of the adults. I was there with my 22-year-old son, who is a stem guy and is majoring in stem in college, and he just didn’t seem to feel it had a lot to offer either. Also, the last time I was there, I went by the gift shop and bought some periodic table of the elements bags and mugs etc. Now my daughter is a chemist at the Mayo Clinic, I was so excited to run in the gift shop and grab a bunch of chemistry items, and the gift shop instead had lots of kids toys in it. It was fairly disappointing. I would love it to be more Stem related and less about the dehydrated ice cream that you can get when you visit the Smithsonian Museums in DC. Not really even MIT related. Just stuff you’d find in any children’s tech museum gift shop. I did manage to find a chemistry-related glass and a game of chemistry flux. Also, I would’ve loved to have seen some more of their robotics. They have some on display at the museum of science, why could we not watch some of them on display here? Overall, an underwhelming experience. Would hope for more adult and interactive and challenging exhibits in the future, and let’s tilt the gift shop to be things that would be less children- focused as well. This isn’t really a children’s museum, is it? Or perhaps I’m missing the point, and it is supposed to be now.
Lockie H — Google review
If you are a MIT student I highly recommend that you visit the Museum at some point. It is highly unqiue and provides a gateway into the MIT way (P.S its free for students!). If you are visiting the area the MIT Museum offers great exhibits that are both timeless and unique to the current state of the world/technology. Great for kids and families!

A waste of time and money for me. So sorry. I thought I'd see real explanations of AI, robotics, etc but instead of that I saw walls of text and unmoving exhibits like old rulers, robotic hand, and circuits. Yes, they could be there but without cutting edge science and real explanations (not looped videos ) it could be so much better. Just not that visual or breakthrough, I guess . And btw, there is a war with 'dangerous white males' throughout texts in the museum. Disappointed.

The Frog Pond at the Boston Common is a place where you can enjoy all four seasons of the year. In summer, you can enjoy a wading pool with slides and playground. In winter, they have an outdoor ice skating rink with a snack bar and carousel. Whether it's in the morning or evening, this pond is always a joy to visit!

A great place to rest your feet 🦶 🦶 by either taking off 📴 your shoes 👟 and soak or just walk around in the warm water 💦. Toddlers can play ▶️ in the sprinklers or roll around in the water. There was an employee scooping out leaves with a pool net. I found a small stone 🪨 and a tiny stick that I mistook for a cigarette 🚬 butt. I threw both of them away and I was rewarded with finding an abandoned tiny toy Babe 🐖 piglet. If the owner is looking for it, I will send it to you. There is a carousel 🎠 and the famous frog statues are at opposite ends of the pond, not named Amy. The only reason I found for the name was that during the Revolutionary War, men would try to find 🐸 frogs to eat. I don't think 🤔 Kermit would show up saying "Hi-Ho, Kermit the Frog here from Sesame Street News!" The Frog Pond is a great 👍 addition to Boston Common. I relaxed while I walked in the water along the edge.

Went here for splash pad and merry go round. Splash pad was closed on June 19 (not opening for the season until June 24th). That was an incredible disappointment and surprise. Hours on the google map location are not attraction specific or seasonal. Check their web site before going. Merry go round is not worth it. No music, old. Probably safe but I personally wouldn't chance it again. Certainly not woth the price. Would have been a 4 if the google location was updated and accurate. Not to mention, there are two entries. One for the "pond" itself and another before the larger attraction.

It boasts modern design and cutting-edge equipment. The center offers various amenities including an indoor golf range equipped with Trackman 4 Golf Simulator for training sessions and lessons to enhance your game. Ive been using the gym at the MIT Zesiger Center, and it’s great. The range of equipment is excellent, from weights to cardio machines, and everything is well-maintained and up-to-date. The space is clean and spacious, but it get a littlr overcrowded during peak hours. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is motivating and welcoming.

**This review is for the Non-MIT people** I am gonna be selfish here because I am a powerlifter. So, only the heavy weights that attracts me. This gym is good for that purpose. It has pretty much everything. Several benches and squat stations with Eleiko olympic bars (🔥🔥), two deadlift stations with the barbell jack, plenty of machines for the accessories. The Eleiko plates are you seeing, these are not for you folks. You have to be in the athletic team. That something to brag about if you're a MIT student. I got the day pass for $15 which includes the pool area as well. That one is amazing if you're into swimming. Any outsiders with a valid ID can buy the passes. You can find the info on their website.

Visiting Boston for a Meeting at Hynes Convention Center. Great to have a pool to go to for a swim as a visitor, for a nominal day pass price of $15. And they converted to 50 m long course for the summer session. Wasnt too crowded with 3-4 in a lane on Sunday at 1 pm and about 2-3 on a Tuesday around 11 am.

Sauna is frequently out of service. Management does not prioritize maintenance or communicate well. Update: MIT Rec has improved email communications about amenity closures. Adding some stars.

I was only spectator at the pool for a few days, so it's hard to rate whole complex. Clean facility, parking may be pain during certain times. There is one big mishap in pool design. Wall above/along lane 1 angles at some point & most of the swimmer being not familiar with it had a big problem while swimming backstroke. They would fallow lights line which also curves and that was taking them off to side in many cases during the meet. Kinda unthinkable mistake in designing, which was very surprising no one picked up. Accept that, all sides we were able to visit-very nice&clean, good amount of seating.

Great facilities, swimming and all kinds of sports if you are in. Great chill out place if you are looking for a evening fun time outside. Go for swimming or find a match of your choice to watch. You will be lucky if you can find an official match going around with MIT and some guest team visiting. Practice matches are fun to watch too.

Park
Ronan Park is a spacious recreational area that offers various amenities for both humans and their furry friends. The park features a well-lit baseball diamond, a fenced-in dog park with agility equipment, and hosts community events. Situated on a hilltop, the park provides stunning views of the city and the ocean. It is maintained by dedicated local volunteers who contribute to its community-driven atmosphere.
I used to live right across the street from that Park! I actually lived in Marie Street from 1999 to 2005 I would look at the view of the ocean and everything and see trains come in and out because that was my thing growing up. I would still see the view of the ocean and everything from my house. I actually went to the park way before I moved that area. I actually went by that area last week! My old house was rebuilt due to the fire that happened a couple years ago I know it wasn't the first time my old house got burnt.

2/9/25 - Such a wonderful time sledding! There were so many kids and families out building community and having a fun time together. Definitely will come back here to go sledding again. A few mopeds try cut across the park which was very annoying but other than that we really had a good time. It is a nice hill to sled on.

There's lots of space to walk dogs, exercise, or play sports. My kickball league used to play here. There is a gated dog park with fresh water for dogs and poop bags. It's always well-kept, and there's actually a nice view of the bay since the park is up on a hill looking down over Dorchester.

Its prime location offers easy access to public transportation and nearby attractions such as Boston Common and Downtown Crossing. Residents praise the well-maintained facilities and exceptional staff who consistently go above and beyond to ensure comfort and satisfaction.
My fiancé (then boyfriend) moved into a larger unit at The Kensington shortly after we started dating. At the time, I swore I’d never live in a managed building. But a year later, I’m happy to say I absolutely love calling The Kensington home. The team here is incredibly kind, attentive, and proactive—like the time I walked in juggling too many bags and someone immediately brought me a cart. I've also come to truly appreciate the thoughtful community events and organized opportunities to meet my neighbors. Another thing that has impressed me is how easy is it to get maintenance issues resolves - the team is so responsive and quick. The building is both pet- and kid-friendly. My niece and nephews love visiting and meeting all of the buildings celebrity pets :) I love sitting in my home office and looking out at the beautiful view. It’s a warm, well-run community, and I’m genuinely grateful to be a part of it.

We've had such a great experience since moving in (and honestly even before officially moving in). From day one, the leasing team, specifically Lauren, has been so helpful. Lauren made our move-in process smooth and stress-free, and she has been exceptional to work with. The concierge and maintenance teams are always so friendly and quick to help with anything we need or any questions we have. Also, the amenities are great and make living here even better. Overall, it has been such a positive experience and we really appreciate how kind and attentive everyone who works here is. We'd recommend living here to anyone!

I've lived at The Kensington for 5 months now, and it’s been an amazing experience. The building is beautiful, well-maintained, and feels like a true oasis in the heart of Boston. The staff—from the front desk team to maintenance—are consistently friendly, helpful, and responsive. The amenities are top-notch (gym, pool, lounge, etc.), and everything is kept impeccably clean. The location is perfect—steps from everything downtown, with easy access to public transit, restaurants, and grocery stores. Even during busy city life, my apartment feels quiet and peaceful.

I've lived here for just over a month now and the Kensington is simply a better place to live. It is clear that the building cares about its tenants. Amenities are great and kept well maintained including services like fitness classes that are free for all residents. Resident events are frequent and well planned with clear emphasis on the residents.

We loved being back at The Kensington for our Acai pop-up! The residents were amazing, and the event went so smoothly. Huge thanks to Aaron and Vanessa for their support and hospitality always a pleasure working with you both. Such a beautiful space and wonderful community to serve. Can’t wait to be back again!

The Kensington offers a luxurious living experience. The units are spacious and updated, the amenities are unmatched (who else has free veggie and herb garden), the staff is top notch! We are greeted by name when we walk in the front doors and the maintenance team doesn’t miss a beat. This apartment is worth every penny!

My 5 star review goes out to the front desk staff. Even before I became a resident, they were always so helpful and kind when I came in to visit friends. They ultimately drew me to drop my current lease and move in this July. I am also very impressed by the amenities provided at the Kensington, and I feel as though the quality of living at this residence makes them the most competitive.

The staff at the Kensington is always so welcoming and accommodating. They always go above and beyond to make residents feel safe and at home. The events put on each month are also so much fun and a great way to get to know neighbors. I’ve lived in a few different places across Boston, and the Kensington has by far been my favorite.

Magazine Beach is a 17-acre park located along the Charles River in Cambridge. It boasts historic buildings, an outdoor gym, and a pool. The park features a powder magazine from the early 19th century and the Riverside Boat Club's boathouse from 1912. Additionally, there is a kayak dock with convenient parking nearby for easy unloading of watercraft.
This space is unique if nothing else. Sandwiched between the Charles and Memorial, the park offers a boat launch, a baseball diamond, an open field, an outdoor gym, and a pool. Great views of the surrounding Harvard landmarks and the river. Parking is decent and I've never had trouble getting a spot, but do bear in mind that there are schedules games and practices here. Kids soccer, baseball, and quidditch. Yes, you read that correctly. It's now a real competitive sport - I've seen it here with my own eyes... look it up. Pro tip: restrooms are available in some kind of a museum building, but can be a very far walk (and hard to find), so plan accordingly.

A wonderful place which is right next to the water. Nice place to walk, cycle and picnic with friends right across the Charles River. Can see lot of goose during evening time! Just relax and enjoy sunset in spring, summer and fall season!

This park has a number of small nature refuge zones where you can observe wildlife, both large and small. I have seen hawks, swans, woodpeckers, and mockingbirds as well as numerous insects. I only wish the park management were not so aggressive in mowing down the vegetation that comprises these natural areas. Instead, they should address the lingering problem of the unsightly litter scattered around the park.

Great place to see a variety of wildlife. Typically good for foraging berries & other plant species. However, super dependent on the weather. There is also a newly renovated free pool & splash pad that just opened this summer.

Nestled conveniently on Boylston Street, New York Sports Club is a fantastic destination for fitness enthusiasts. This gym features an indoor lap pool, perfect for those looking to swim laps or enjoy a refreshing dip after their workout. While the pool may be smaller and has limited hours compared to other facilities, the extensive range of gym amenities makes it worth considering. The spacious layout offers ample room for both weight lifting and cardio workouts, complemented by an upstairs turf section and a sauna for post-exercise relaxation.
review takes into account this is a gym located in city, so different expectations vs gym in suburbs (such as LA fitness). overall, pretty good gym for me who works out 5-6times a week. about 3-4 squat racks in total (3 can be modified to do other workouts), 2+ horizontal and 2+ incline bench press etc. one platform upstairs for deadlifting. plenty of free weights. room for cycling upstairs, many treadmills, could use more elliptical machines, some stairmasters do not work.. I usually do not have any issue getting on the machines/equipment i need since i workout in mornings.. can’t say much about how busy it is after work hours.. overall solid choice

It’s a decent gym that gets way too crowded during 5-7 with a few pieces of dilapidated equipment. Sharon, however, is an amazing yoga teacher who clearly knows her stuff. She’s has a wealth of yogi knowledge which she explains to her students clearly and nicely- always an amazing class. Gym itself is just okay. It’s on the cheaper side so you get what you pay for

Very convenient location and good mix of facilities. Especially appreciate the sauna, though no towels are provided (which was something they had mentioned would be added “soon” when I signed up two years ago). Yoga classes with Sharon are great—clear instruction and breakdown of movements, and a welcoming atmosphere for beginners like me.

I have been associated with the club for the past 2 years and it has been an exceptional experience. I mostly go for instructor-led classes and I have found all the instructors pretty knowledgeable and good at what they teach. Sharon who teaches Yoga and Pilates is my favorite. I I love to go to her classes on sunday. Her instructions are thorough and clear. Other top notch instructors are Angelica and Zoe. Look forward to going to their classes.

I have been coming here for a while. Unfortunately, I moved to New Jersey yesterday making me cancel my membership. The experience was amazing, the equipment was great, the atmosphere was also amazing. The staff is externally friends and attentive. I enjoyed my experience here so much. I wish there was a location close to my new apt. Hopefully when I come back to visit the Somerville area to see family I will be getting day passes.

was loyal to my gym #NewYorkSportsClub for 16 years. Sixteen. Through moves, job changes, different cities, different bodies. #NYSC and then #BSC (Town Sports International) was a constant. The lighting was bad. The equipment outdated. The vibes? Questionable at best. But it was my gym. My routine. My place to disappear for 1 hour and pretend I had my shit together. And then they made it impossible to stay. I signed up when I was still in college in 2009. Back then, they had a student membership: $19.99 a month. A passport membership, they called it. It gave you access to every club in their entire northeast region, NYC, Boston, DC, Philly. And I was locked into that rate for life. They were everywhere. Like Starbucks. And at the time, they were actually great. Saunas, steam rooms, clean equipment, convenient locations. It was the ultimate “I’ve got my life together” move for a broke 20 year old who just wanted to work out and feel human. And I stayed. I paid through COVID even when the clubs were closed. I stayed when they shut down locations and blamed “temporary closures.” I stayed when the towels disappeared, the machines broke, the staff got nastier, and the lights got dimmer. I gave them grace. I let them raise my dues a few dollars here and there even though I was supposedly “locked in.” Then they raised it $10. Again. Even after they said they wouldn’t. Even after I emailed, confirmed, documented they lied. And today, I walked into the New York Sports Club Davis Square location for the last time. After 16 years. Why? Because it’s not just that they raised prices. It’s that they raised prices while delivering less. Less value. Less care. Less everything. Broken showers that stayed broken for years. Signs that said “sorry, under maintenance” that might as well have been carved in stone. Bugs in the bathroom. Equipment just...gone. Not replaced...removed. Staff that doesn’t look at you, doesn’t talk to you, and definitely doesn’t care. Then one day, it became clear: this place doesn't value me. And they don’t even pretend to. When I went in to cancel, they didn’t try to save the relationship. No acknowledgment. No apology. No offer to honor the promise they made just a year ago. Just a shrug from the manager and a cold, dismissive “okay.” And that was it. Sixteen years. Gone. This isn't just about a gym membership. It's about being loyal to a brand that turned around and treated me like I didn’t matter. It’s about showing up for over a decade and being met with disrespect and indifference. Town Sports International, you had me. For 16 years. You didn’t lose me because someone else wooed me. You lost me because you treated me like shit. You broke the promise. You lied. You ignored. They don’t get it. It wasn’t about the price. It was about being seen. About being remembered. About the promises never coming through. They could have kept me. But they couldn’t be bothered. And that says it all.
Alon R — Google review
I’m really disappointed for the way they managed the billings and clients. I hired the personal training service and I can’t complain about the trainer because was so kind and patient. The thing is that they didn’t tell me that you have to contract that for 3 months and now they charged me ($250 and out of the membership AND without any notification) for a “2nd month of the service” that I’m not taking cause I cancelled my membership like 3 months ago. Of course they didn’t refund me anything and basically they told me “there’s nothing else we can do”.
Valentina ( — Google review
Highly recommend the personal training! I’ve been working with Jake (one of the PTs), and I feel a lot more confident in the gym. He’s awesome. Very sad to be leaving to go back to school, and I’ll definitely return next year!

It has been a week without these wipes. It’s flu and cold season - and completely empty. I get they are waiting for an order, but then get separate wipes and use them in the meantime. Unacceptable. Very poorly managed in my opinion.
NJ T — Google review
Now the YMCA has removed the steam sauna. That was one of the reasons I bought the subscription. An important recovery process after a workout and a swimming pool is steam sauna. Older people always use it. You have a cold corridor in winter after the pool. Now people will get sick and freeze more. Your decisions are very terrible for the Clints. Give a comment to those who agree with me. The locker room was closed all summer and you did such a terrible job. We have two chairs instead steam.
Archie M — Google review
Despite the small size, has a large amount of equipment. Treadmills, ellipticals, and stair steppers are pretty modern. Because it's an older building, it requires more repairs than a frequent facility, but that has rarely got in the way of my workout. The pool is 6 lanes, but there's usually at least two open for lap swimming. Water is good swimming temperature, a little cool when you first get in but perfect when you start working out. It's by no means fancy, but the facilities are exactly what I need and I appreciate how inexpensive the monthly membership is. The staff are wonderful and courteous and have always been able to help me with my questions!
Scout W — Google review
I enjoy This YMCA. only problem is the Women's locker room there are only four showers and some people take up to a half hour shower and then do all their personal hygiene that they should be doing at home in the shower & then get dressed in the shower so that you can have to wait a while to get a shower. Maybe they should lower the water temperature so people don’t stay in there as long as they do.

Hi, our complaint is that the previous workout machines were very good and there were many of them. This machine that you guys have brought now does not work at all. It is not good. It causes a lot of pain to the body. We do not like it. Please change it again. Take the old workout machine. It was very good. We liked those machines very much. We have 15 people from one house coming here. We are trying to leave the membership here. Please, our complaint is that you guys should work and bring the same machines again. We really need a steam room here. We do not like it. You guys have finished the steam room here.

Today my 5 year old daughter and I were kicked out of the pool. I was not wearing shorts and we wanted her to swim alone, in the kids area or any other designated area. We took a swimming test here and got a green ring, we took the test at the Nashua pool. But the lifeguard Abi did not agree with us and demanded to leave the pool, she yelled at my daughter even after I said that she does not understand English, she tried to grab her with her hands and pull her out by force! It was a terrible experience. The day is ruined, the child is terribly stressed, and she does not want to continue swimming lessons. The pool staff are rude and tactless people, I hope the pool management will take action
Damir Z — Google review
Swimming pool closed on and off for the better part of the last year due to maintenance. Half of the time the water is green from a malfunctioning water cleaning equipment and the pool has to close due to bacteria. The other half it's the HVAC equipment. The lockers were closed for weeks to replace them. Now the pool will be closed for a month for more repairs. Classes are cancelled regularly due to this and only credit towards the purchase of another class is offered (and only when requested!!!). I want CASH, not credit because I do not want to come back. I was told this is not possible. Very little family time available in the schedule and regularly canceled last minute without warning after you make the drive because of missing staff. The lockers are FREEZING and the pool area is a SAUNA. Horrible experience going into the lockers after a swim. Also the family lockers are clearly marked as for families ONLY, yet men are coming alone to change there and management doesn't enforce anything. But if you use the regular lockers as a family you get yelled at. I decided not to renew my subscription and will be looking elsewhere!

Olsen Swimming Pool Fun Park is a fantastic destination for families looking to enjoy a day of water fun and relaxation. Recently remodeled, the park features an expansive swimming pool alongside a vibrant sprinkler park that’s perfect for kids. Visitors can soak up the sun while enjoying music from outdoor speakers or hosting barbecues at one of the many picnic benches available. The facility is well-maintained with attentive lifeguards ensuring safety, although some areas like the bathrooms could use more upkeep.
Unexpectedly amazing! Olsen Swimming Pool Fun Park is a total gem — completely free, with great facilities, clean restrooms (huge plus!), and perfect for spending the day with kids. It’s a super fun splash pad, with a playground right next to it and a top-notch pool just steps away, everything totally free. I was impressed by the maintenance: one of the splash features broke during the day, and two staff members showed up almost instantly to fix it. Super quick and efficient! Safe, well-maintained, free, and full of fun — it’s rare to find places like this. I’ll definitely be back!

Google maps and the pool’s website states that the pool is open (it is Memorial Day weekend). I tried calling four times at different times of the day to confirm - but no answer. I decided to trust the website, packed up the kids, and drove out to discover the pool drained with no information about when it might reopen. It’s a shame because it looks like it could be a great place.

Great dcr pool. Has a regular pool as well as a huge sprinkler park. Open 1145am to 7pm. Also next to a ice skating rink and regular park. Multiple hiking trails and public small grills. Plenty of picnic benches. Great for all ages and a day out with fun in the sun

**Disappointed and Frustrated Experience** We arrived at Olsen Swimming Pool Fun Park right when they opened, excited to enjoy our day. However, the experience was extremely disappointing from the start. Despite it being opening time, the staff inside refused to open the door even after we knocked and waited. When someone finally acknowledged us, they were incredibly lazy and nonchalant. The employee told us he didn’t know why the pool wasn’t open, didn’t know when it would open, and didn’t seem to care at all. After some time, they mentioned it was due to chlorine levels but said the pool should open “shortly” and we could wait. We waited for over an hour with no updates or urgency from the staff. Eventually, we had to leave and find somewhere else to go. Total waste of time and energy. Very poor communication and zero sense of customer service. Would not recommend.

I love it but The only problem i have it’s that they always closing the poll for no apparent reason at anytime they feel like it right now they’re people waiting outside at 3:40pm and the pool l is closed and the sprinklers too the sun is out it’s 86• out why are they closed and nowhere to complain because they never pick up the phone

This is the worst place ever!!! Over 50+ people and I were standing in a long line for 3 hours under 100-degree weather waiting to get in a pool. Workers were allowing people who had just arrived to enter before us just because they had friends or family members already in there. After all this, they then declared that they were at full capacity, and therefore, no one was allowed to get in.
Shayy — Google review
We’ve come here a good few times and although it’s a great pool, please update your hours of operation because every time we come we’re waiting in our cars for 30+mins thinking it opens at a certain time and it never does. The pool and sprinkler sections are clearly separate so if one opens earlier than the other make a seperate hours of operation.(respectfully)

Bathroom smelled like pee, one shower changing room, had to make a line to go in the pool because they were over capacity, no gate between sprinklers and pool so I had to speak to my 12 year old from the gate while my 2 year old played in the sprinklers. Water was dirty with trash floating around.

The facility includes a picnic area, playground with foosball and ping pong, making it perfect for families. It has gained an excellent reputation for its friendly, caring, and safe environment that fosters healthy development in children.
This is an awesome place with so much to offer! The basketball courts are great—some are used for classes, but there are also open courts where you can just walk in and play. The gym is well-equipped with a wide variety of machines and weights, making it easy to get a solid workout. There are also ping pong tables, which are always fun, and an indoor pool that’s perfect for swimming year-round. Plus, they have a nice selection of board games and other activities to keep things interesting. Overall, a great spot for individuals and families.

Today on August 4th 2025 during the evening I was leaving my car in the parking lot when an unmarked man who didn't identify himself began questioning my buddy and I (both regular members for 4+ years) on who we were, and what we were doing in a hostile and rude manor. This man didn't inform us intially of who he was and then followed us into the lobby. We went into the lobby to check in and we notified the front desk attendant of the suspicous and hostile man. He then interuppted our conversation with the front desk employee, telling us that he was "security" and then threatened us saying "don't poke the bear", as we were reporting his poor behavior. This is completelly unacceptable and I will be exploring other gyms, with no intention of continuing my membership at this JCC. As a Jewish resident of Newton, I don't feel this is a safe space for myself and other members of my community with hostile "security" threatening loyal members.

Great facility overall that’s well-maintained with lots of fun options for all ages. I wish there was an indoor play area for slightly older kids 4-7 with climbing wall/ trampoline/ obstacle course/ etc. it would also be nice to have some allergy friendly food options in the future.

YMCA of Greater Boston - Huntington Ave is a community-focused nonprofit that has been providing recreational programs and services for all ages since 1844. The building's Neoclassical architecture, with its cornerstone laid by President William Taft in 1912, adds to its historical significance. The gym offers a variety of classes and has a pool, making it a great place for workouts in Boston. While it may not have the typical gym atmosphere, it provides everything needed for a solid workout.
Great and equipped wellness center (we call it gym!) and locker rooms Though, the mats could be cleaner! Some of the Y members are so friendly and welcoming and the others are just not as much!

A great gym for your work out here in Boston . Very close to Copley square . It has a pool and many different Classes. The gym has everything you need but it’s only for me doesn’t has gym atmosphere. It’s not mandatory to have a towel with you but you have to clean the machines with wet wipes after you used them . If everyone had a towel you would have to do this . I don’t know it’s the fist gym that it has everything you need but for sure doesn’t feel like a gym. No ambient music . It’s most like a kids and old people gym more than a heavy weight training Center .

Seen many forms of discrimination from Staff members that absolutely did not carry themselves in a more profession manner. Like seeing a lack in sense of amicability and cordiality with certain members despite outside appearances. Outside the facility itself- not so bad but certain functionalities and approaches from certain YMCA Employees were deemed highly unprofessional with a seemingly discriminatory practice with a noticeable hiring & firing of “Jr.” staff members and even towards certain certified personal trainers! The once vibrant members-affiliated orientations and relationships began to fade and as a result the prestige of the facility (member wise) was almost desolate; rather if we’re speaking of the decline of members appearing or not- the overall Vibe there once was (at its pinnacle Mid Summer to Fall 2024) completely gone or drastically altered. Even noticed an Executive Director recently stepping down or “moving-on” as n past few months.

nice gym, newer equipment, friendly and pleasant workers, especially the people at the front desk. just wish they would update the gym schedule accordingly, there’s been a good handful of times in which i’ve looked at the gym schedule and gone at the correct times but there’s still activities in the gym going on, making the trip a bust. there’s usually a bunch of people hogging the benches and squat racks too, making the only times i’m able to work out with all the equipment i need as soon as it opens or right before they close.

1 star, highly regret signing up with the YMCA. They have not cancelled my membership despite me asking to get it cancelled 2 months ago. The staff is 3.0/5.0 stars nice but cares 0.0/5.0 stars. They said they would email me back and process a refund but I was met with another charge. Hugely inconvenient with still no resolve after 2 months of being overcharged, no attention whatsoever. I wonder what they are doing instead? Anyways I still don't know what to do about this except to post this review. They don't even deserve this meek 1 star

Have been coming here many years, and it is such a wonderful gym and community center. Excellent instructors for classes and facilities that actually reflect what is most popular with clientele (e.g adding more squat racks because of high use). Love this place!

If you like to workout, DO NOT COME HERE. I counted 12 machines that do not work, and 5 of them were broken when I joined a year ago. For being one of the pricier YMCAs in the greater Boston area, they sure look like the cheapest one. Spend your money elsewhere

Troy Boston Apartments is a vibrant community that truly elevates the living experience in the South End. One of its standout features is the luxurious pool area, which offers stunning views of an impressive mural by artist Ronnie Deziel. The cabana deck provides ample space for relaxation and sunbathing, making it a perfect spot to unwind. Residents have shared their exceptional experiences with the leasing team, particularly praising Mohammad for his dedication and support during their move-in process.
Every day is a good day when I wake up here! Best views of Boston from multiple lounges/rooftops. Kind and hospitable attention from every team member and which was surprising given the size of the building. Amenities are a plus all around and the location can’t be beat. Very grateful to live here and I don’t want to imagine being anywhere else!

So happy to be living on “the good ship troy” as I’ve come to call it. I’m pleased to report it is so quiet despite being in the center of the ink block. The ground floor cafe has a private resident entrance so you can get breakfast in the winter without leaving the building. Not to mention the included lux amenities like pool, gym, yoga studio, and roof top lounges. Also impressed with the apartments available for folks with disabilities.

The Troy has been an excellent place to live for the past year and the leasing team is a big part of that. If you have the chance to work with Iesha she is extremely helpful with any and all questions you might have living here. She was recently very helpful with the process of adding a new roommate to my lease. Made it much easier than previous buildings in the past.

Iesha is truly the heart of the leasing office. From day one, she’s been incredibly supportive, friendly, and always on top of things. I remember having an issue with my FOB key once . I brought it up to her just once, and she immediately handled it. No runaround, no waiting — just quick, efficient help. What stands out most is how consistent she is. I’ve had a few issues here and there, and she’s always been there, ready to assist without hesitation. Even when I get home from work and pass by the office, she checks in to see if I need anything or if everything’s okay. That level of attention and care goes a long way. She’s not only reliable, but also brings such a warm, empathetic energy to every interaction. You can tell she genuinely cares about the residents and takes pride in what she does. Iesha makes this place feel like home. We’re lucky to have her!

My quality of life has improved exponentially since moving to Troy Boston. Everything about the building is extraordinary. I’ve lived in managed communities within greater Boston in the past but have never experienced the high level of service, amenity, and convenience offered at Troy. The management team has been wonderful to work with. Travis in particular was incredibly helpful throughout the move-in process. The maintenance team is professional and efficient. Alexis and Jada (concierge team) continue to impress me with their kindness, care, and knowledge of the building. The other day, I arrived at the front entry obviously struggling with grocery bags (Whole Foods is a 30-second walk away… it’s amazing). Jada quite literally sprinted to the door to assist. This is just one example of the many acts of kindness executed on the regular by Troy’s concierge team. My roommate and I adore our new home. If you’re looking to move with a friend, Troy has so many 2B/2B apartments that accommodate a roommate situation perfectly. Square footage is small, but we don’t mind because the space is so usable and beautiful! Finishes resemble that of a modern flat in London. Floor-to-ceiling windows. Small, but extremely efficient German engineered appliances. Water pressure/temperature is insanely good. Love the Nest thermosets and custom cut fabric blinds. Condo-grade finishes throughout. Amenity spaces (some of which were just renovated) are unreal. Great options for work from home, multiple roof decks with unbeatable views of the city, very impressive Covid-friendly gym… did I mention the pool!? I can’t wait to share these spaces with friends and family when it’s safe to do so. Also- the enormous interior loading dock was extremely helpful at move-in. Neighborhood is the best in Boston. Some of my favorite restaurants (Chops, Kava, Yellow Door, Frenchie etc.) are less than a 10-minute walk away. Whole Foods, CVS, and Sweetgreen are less than a 2-minute walk away. Street parking is easy with a resident sticker. Please forgive the long review. In short, leasing with Troy Boston may be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I highly recommend considering this community.

Being homeless is hard on you so when I arrived with my wagon full of stuff I left everything in the lobby near the security guard. I checked in with lesha and we talked for a little while to discuss what apartment I was interested in. After we talked for a while I gave her my mass ID and she gave me the information for the apartment that I was going to look at. One of the tenants in the building helped me figure out how to use the elevator and when I got to the apartment on the 13th floor I couldn't figure out how to open the door so I went back and talked to lesha again. She helped me figure out how to open the door and then I went and checked out this beautiful beautiful one bedroom apartment on the 13th floor. I don't necessarily like the refrigerator but it's uniquely different. The apartment was not made for handicapped individual but it was nice just the same had plenty of room plenty of closet space and there's so many possibilities of how you can decorate this one bedroom apartment. There's enough space across from the kitchen to put a little dining table and some chairs and then close to the window would be your living room so you'd be able to set up your flat screen TV a table a sofa whatever you want then in the bedroom it's big enough for like single bed or full size bed and you still have plenty of space for all the essentials you need you know trash can dresser whatever. They include with the apartment the refrigerator and a microwave and they have a washer and dryer stacked on top of each other when you first come in the door to the apartment. It also includes a dishwasher and a very unique looking oven and stove combination. The only thing I noticed was that the oven and stove are like handicap accessible. The stove is one of those electric cooktop ranges and then underneath is a small standard oven. I don't plan on cooking too much for the holidays in this place it's just not big enough to put in a 10 lb turkey and make all the pies the cakes and the stuffing and big macaroni and cheese that I normally make. I don't like being up high I prefer being down low when it comes to these high rise apartments but this was a very nice place. I enjoyed help everything looked and I enjoyed talking with the security guard and lesha. Thank you for the beautiful experience.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Pool is a fantastic summer retreat that caters to families, especially those with young children. This community pool features a standard swimming area alongside a delightful beach-like wading pool equipped with fun spray structures. The shallow depth of the wading pool allows little ones to comfortably acclimate to the water at their own pace, making it an ideal spot for family outings and playful splashes on warm days.
Such a great pool. Great for all ages. I have kids with various ages from 10month old to a 12 yrs old. Must pay attention to the little ones though. My 2nyear old kept trying to run and jump in the deep end with would have been very easy for him if I wasn't paying attention. Only downside was the staff. Some of them were very rude! They were all young like maybe high school or right out. Must be from the high school next door. But still a great time with my family.

My six-year-old daughter was so excited to go to this pool, and as soon as she started playing in the splash area, the lifeguard called her over and said she couldn’t wear a mask that covers her nose. She was very upset and we left immediately. The staff was somewhat rude about the whole thing.

Waited an hour and a half in line, got in for them to tell us that there was a chlorine issue they needed to clear the pool to fix it. Ok cool. What they didn’t tell us was that everyone who got in and DID NOT get to swim which was no one, had to go all the way to the end of the line until they fixed the pool and that they would let the next group go in before them when they fixed the issue. Completely discarded and did not accommodate anything fairly. Everyone who didn’t get to swim now had to wait an hour and a half again while they let the next group go first. NEW STAFF NEEDED THERE clearly none know about customer service.

Diagnostic center
If you're in Boston and curious about your body composition, a DEXA Scan is an excellent option to consider. This advanced imaging technique provides detailed insights into bone density, fat distribution, and muscle mass. It's a non-invasive procedure that can help you understand your health better and guide you on your fitness journey. Many facilities in the city offer this service, making it accessible for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of their physical well-being.
All of the DEXA scan offerings in the area have questionable websites so it’s hard to know what to choose, but I’m glad I came here! DEXA Scan Boston shares space (and a waiting room) with some medical offices, and there is even clearly marked street parking near a Green Line stop which we know can be an issue. So it was comfortable to get there and the testing process was simple and straightforward as well. Sam really is the best and I’m leaving with a lot of information to muse on and make better health decisions. He even followed up with specific advice and recommendations for my personal situation! I’m looking forward to making some improvements and checking my progress in the future.

What a great experience at DEXA Scan Boston with Sam! It was easy to get to, with street meter parking, and a quiet shared waiting room. Sam took his time explaining the process and reviewing the health data with me, pointing out the good numbers, explaining the ones to improve, as well as how to improve them. A nice base line. I will be back in six months to update the numbers.

Money very well spent! My husband and I decided to have baseline Dexa scans done, and were very happy with the entire process. Simple, and Sam provided so much information--so now we have the knowledge on what we need to work on to improve our scores, to maintain good, strong bones and muscles. So happy we went here, and look forward to follow up to see how our work is paying off! Great service!
Kim P — Google review
I was seen on time. Sam was very friendly and explained the results very thoroughly. What a difference from the previous scan I had done at the Faulkner Hospital ! I came out with more knowledge about bone density and body fat percentage and location, etc…and some valuable suggestions to help improve results in the future.

From the get-go, scheduling was a breeze and communication from the provider was appreciated. Instructions and directions to the facility were precise. The cost is realistic and well worth the investment. This appt was so easy and took very little time to complete. Sam was very friendly, knowledgeable, and I felt very comfortable throughout the scan and results consultation. I highly recommend DEXA Scan Boston and look forward to my follow up scan in six months. Thank you for a pleasant experience! Katie Schaefer- Waltham

I recently did a DexaScan and Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the whole experience! Both tests were done in under 40 minutes, which was super efficient and made the whole thing feel quick and easy. Sam, the tech who handled everything, was fantastic. He was super friendly and high-energy! He walked me through each step clearly and thoughtfully, making sure I was comfortable and understood what was going on. His explanations were easy to follow, and I felt like I could ask any questions without feeling rushed or judged. I also really appreciated how relaxed and welcoming the environment was. It felt like a safe space to learn more about my health without any pressure. Sam’s expertise and positive vibe made all the difference. If you're considering these tests, I highly recommend them. The whole process was smooth, informative, and genuinely enjoyable.

Awesome experience at Dexa Scan of Boston (Beacon St, Brookline). Entire appointment took about 30 minutes for a dexa scan. After the scan, Sam took the time to go over both reports in detail with me and answer all questions. I'll definitely be back in the next 6-8 months to check my progress. Definitely recommend this to get a baseline and check the progress of diet and workout!!

I work all around mass on various multi family buildings and I can not convey how good the folks at Pierce are. From the moment you enter Giovanna at the concierge desk is amazing. Interacting with her, seeing how she handles tough situations, and dealing with tenants, she is absolutely top notch. Once in the building, Lisbeth (property management) John, and Gamma (maintenance) do more to keep the units in great shape and to make their customers happy than I see in many places. It seems like an amazing place to live with folks like that around.

Theirs a Asian guy at the front desk he is very nice and try his best to help clients I explained them my situation that haven't been to YMCA for few months but they were able to accommodate the charges thank you for being awesome

The Wang YMCA offers a great location in Boston. The recently remodeled locker rooms and new exercise equipment augment the friendly staff. The week day hours are good for working professionals and the atmosphere is low key. If you are looking to rejoin a gym post covid, this is a well maintained facility that also has a pool.
Richard C — Google review
I am deeply disappointed with my experience at this YMCA facility, specifically due to the behavior of the person at the front desk. This feedback is not personal, but the individual refused to let me use the restroom even during an emergency situation. Despite explaining that I have a membership and providing my name, they were unable to locate it. We have been paying membership fees to support our hometown YMCA in Illinois, even though we haven't used the facility in quite some time. This incident was incredibly disheartening and has left me with no choice but to cancel my membership as a result. It’s unacceptable and goes against the values I associate with the YMCA.
Pankaj S — Google review
I hate making negative reviews centered around a specific person, but after talking to other members who also feel the same way I feel like it needs to be addressed. There seems to be a short younger asian girl possibly a supervisor of some sort that has a very nasty attitude. She has an air of “you’re inconveniencing me for anything you ask for” and the mean look she often has doesn’t make it any easier. It really doesn’t take much to be kind to your fitness members. I know some people can be challenging to deal with, but as someone in the service industry I’ve come to understand that one customer’s bad actions shouldn’t make you treat all other customers like crap. This young lady needs to check her attitude because it is very unwelcoming. The morning guys especially the young man with glasses is always so kind and helpful, same for the older Asian lady and the bald gentleman. On top of this a few weeks ago my brother had to use the restroom (he’s a ymca member in NY) everyone on the desk wanted to help but this young lady abruptly said NO and brushed me off. Life is too short to be this bitter and rude over something as mundane as a quick restroom run. If this lady keeps this attitude I would go as far as to cancel my membership and simply take my business to another fitness club. Please do better.
Johanna T — Google review
The free weights room is comically small. I do appreciate the multiple squat racks and single deadlift platform (hybrid squat/deadlift), but there's only one flat bench for barbell and no incline bench press for barbell. So people use the squat racks for other exercises instead of squats! Please reevaluate the space and enlarge the weight room.
Kenneth L — Google review
The facilities are good and it's close to downtown. The staff know how to do their job and are polite to the customers for the most part. It's all good except from time to time some weirdos will peak at you in the shower or sit around and watch you change in the locker room. This happens at all YMCAs not just this one. I guess the era of shared changing spaces may soon be coming to an end.
Meki ( — Google review
Wang's weekly schedule has become devoid of classes dedicated to a healthy spirit and body, activities that make YMCA special. Members expect those activities at their nearest location, but instead of expanding them the Wang location has been eliminating classes.

Guys. What is with the black kitchen cabinets?! Makes the apartments look so dark. Oh and also...the bathrooms have white tile that look permanently dirty. The model didn’t even look clean. Bonus: better finishes in the other apartments will cost you an additional $500/month. All the apartments with this gross finish a cheap and a place you’d actually want to live in will cost you much more. Appalled. Immediately took back our application. The owner replied below that they offered me different finish options...but completely failed to clarify that units in the other buildings are $500/month more expensive and tried to claim it’s simply for a view. I’m sorry...unacceptable. Super rip off. Mind you, closets have exposed pipes. Closet sliding doors have exposed (and dirty) wheels...you can get MUCH more for your money than Ink Block and am happy to recommend other buildings in the area. We went with a close by community that was more up to our standards.

I recently moved into the Ink Block building and it's been the best decision I've made. Our leasing agent Ryan King was with us from the start. He made sure that all of our applications and move in details were solidified before my roommate and I moved in. Additionally, the move in process was as smooth as it could've gone. We also got a welcome gift which was a nice plus. I would recommend this apartment if you are looking for somewhere to live, and make sure to ask for ryan!

Ryan King was excellent to work with while touring and considering Ink Block. He was extremely knowledgeable about the units, building amenities, and neighborhood. Ryan spent extra time showing us the dog run and parking garage and was diligent when responding to follow-up questions. Although we chose a different location closer to our jobs, our experience touring with Ryan made Ink Block an enticing place to live.

Commonwealth Sports Club, located in Allston, is highly recommended for those seeking a well-rounded gym experience. The friendly staff and members create a welcoming atmosphere. The personal trainers, such as Mikael Brown and Coach Taiwo, are praised for their expertise and ability to tailor workouts based on individual health conditions and goals. The facility offers a fully equipped gym, salted water swimming pool, sauna, and steam room.
My favorite of any gym I’ve been to. The locker rooms are clean and have built in lock systems. I also loved getting free towels to use at the front for saunas and shower. The sauna and steam room is also easily the best I’ve been to, the sauna even has colored LED lights. Overall a very clean gym and great place to workout and also recover and relax after your exercise

I absolutely love this gym! There is always room to do my routine, never packed to the point where I have to wait for any space/machines. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! I truly feel comfortable working out here. Not to mention the amenities are awesome. Towels, pool, hot tub, sauna. I am in the best shape of my life because of the classes I take and tips I received from the trainers. This place is worth every penny!

Broken Facility, rude manager. I was super excited to check out this place since it’s close to my home. But I found out the steam room in the women’s locker room was broken and they told me it’s always broken and not going to be fixed in a while. I just said I don’t think it’s fair that I pay the same price as men since a major facility is missing for me. Then, the manager said in front of my face “it is what it is and we are not going to change anything,” as if they were the ONLY gym in Boston and I don’t have other choices. The staff who hosted me was very friendly, to be fair, but I don’t see the point of going this place when I can get full services at a lower price at other places.

I'm someone who never joined a gym and this is a fantastic first experience. I was matched up with a personal trainer to show me workouts and the classes are both accessible and intense. Instructors do a great job modifying workouts for varying skill levels. I've only missed 3 days in the last 3 weeks and I don't plan on stopping. Staff are already helpful, honest, and friendly.

Situated on 25 Northern Avenue, The Benjamin Seaport Residences Apartments by Berkshire Community offer luxurious finishes and modern design. Nestled in the vibrant Seaport District, it provides easy access to upscale dining, shopping, and entertainment options. With a variety of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans available, these apartments are designed to provide an exceptional contemporary living experience. The leasing team is highly praised for their exceptional service and friendliness.
We love living at The Benjamin! We’ve been here a little over a year and are so excited that we just renewed our lease. Most apartments have a gorgeous view of the city or overlook the pool area. The location & amenities are top notch and the front desk and management team are great. They also do such a good job of planning fun resident events that have been such a great way to meet our neighbors! We also love how dog friendly the building is and that we have so many neighbor dogs 🐾

I've been living at The Benjamin for almost 5 years now, and I love it! It’s in the perfect location of the seaport, and The Benjamin is probably one of the best luxury apartment buildings in the seaport. The amenities are top tier, especially having access to the 24/7 fitness center anytime is amazing. Management and the concierge are extremely friendly and helpful. The management team does a great job of communicating and maintaining The Benjamin and putting on great events for residents to come together and enjoy. I highly recommend living at The Benjamin over any other luxury apartment buildings in the seaport!

The Benjamin is the best luxury rental building in the Seaport. It’s in the perfect location in the heart of the vibrant waterfront district, surrounded by some of the cities best restaurants, retail and unique modern culture - a short walk to downtown, conveniently positioned 2-3 minutes from all major highways heading north, south or west. The leasing staff is smart, attentive, and care tremendously about both the building and the satisfaction of its residents. They work seamlessly with the maintenance staff, concierge and local community partners to ensure a life at the Benjamin is enjoyable, safe, clean, and programmed to provide top notch amenitized city living. It exemplifies what managed luxury rental apartments should be - it has no equal in the seaport, and few in all of Boston. The view ain’t too bad either!

I have been in the Benjamin for over 2 years and love it! There is no better place in the area with the views, sqaure footage, amenities and location for a rental building. The team at the front desk and the sales managers are the best! Always so personable. They do a great job hosting small pop-ups in the building to get residents engaged and networking as well. And of course, they are pre-friendly for my little pup.

After a year long process of exiting our home of 27 years in the suburbs, we have finally landed in the Seaport at the BEST building possible, THE BENJAMIN. There were many false starts on our part given the complexity of selling our home, but Margaret Williamson guided us through the process like the incredible professional (and kind) person she is. Her patience with me in particular was incredible. The entire Berkshire Organization should be proud to have her representing their brand. A house or apartment are made up of just walls, floors, ceilings, etc.... A HOME is built by the people inside. At the Benjamin, that includes the entire team and trust me, they make this feel like home.... If you are looking for a new home, STOP and just call Margaret.

The Seaport and the Benjamin in particular exceeds expectations. We've been here for almost a year and are consistently blown away by the services provided by the management, leasing office, concierge staff, and maintenance. They fully aim to please and sincerely care about the comfort and happiness of the residents. Our resident coordinator, Kelsey, is an amazing person who always has fun and welcoming resident events that really help you get to know your neighbors and feel like you are part of a community. :) Events include everything from holiday parties, to vendor pop-ups, book club and most recently (starting tonight) Kelsey organized for Core Power Yoga to hold a class on our horizon terrace and it was fantastic! They will be here every week for the rest of the summer! Afterwards there was food from Sweet Green and wine... it was a great time. The photo attached to this review was taken on our balcony by my friend from her iPhone last week. The views from the Benjamin really are breathtaking. This is a wonderful building with something for everyone and every stage in life, is extremely dog friendly, and we considered buying a condo in the area but love it here so much that we just renewed our lease for another year.

I cannot recommend the Benjamin enough. Not only does it have the best location within the Seaport compared to all of the other managed buildings, but it's just lovely all around! I've been living here for a year and plan to stay for at least two more. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. Also, throughout COVID, the management team has been very communicative and open, which made this uncertain time much easier to navigate.

Equinox Seaport is a luxury gym with a stunning lap pool, making it the crown jewel of the facility. After a refreshing swim, guests can indulge in the spa and locker room amenities. While some minor issues have been noted, such as noise in the steam room and occasional crowding during peak times, overall feedback has been positive. The club offers fantastic views of Boston Harbor and boasts friendly staff, top-notch equipment, cleanliness, and a variety of classes.
Ok, it’s not flawless by any stretch of the imagination, but if ratings are comparative assessments of quality (or value), then this location deserves 5 stars. The design is impeccable, it’s never crowded, and the staff is generally very nice. The only major fail is the steam room, where the sound of the steam machine is so deafening that sitting there for more than a few minutes should be regarded as auditory torture. Other than that, no major complaints.

Still showing up. Still drenched. Still minding my business. Trainers? Chill, Elite, & Respectful Maintenance? VERY SOLID. Elite. & Respectful (Best I’ve seen in the past 5 years — shoutout to Andres, the mastermind behind it.) But one of the front desk people been moving like they got a badge and a whistle. Clockin’ my exit like I’m on parole. Ma’am… I lift weights, not alibis. 💼🕰️ The court is across the street. 👩🏻‍⚖️ That energy only seems to show up when I do — and I haven’t even been here in a couple weeks, been training elsewhere. Really felt the need to write this review so maybe someone could get an unbiased opinion. Is this the worst gym Ive ever been to? No. Is this the worst luxury gym that you have to pay $230/mo for that i’ve ever been to? Actually yes. Let me start with the good so I can highlight some things that were nice: - Gym equipment looks clean and the place is spacious. Good area in seaport close to everything. The lotion, face cleanser and body care was a great touch in the women’s locker room and smelled amazing. Nice lounge area right by the workout section in case you need to work or study RIGHT after your session?? Lol Okay unfortunately that may be it. For the negatives, I want to preface I did get a free trial as I am new to the area. - Immediately upon entering the front desk staff asked if I have been before and when I said no, instead of showing me around, they just said “third floor, locker room to right, gym on left”. Okay I don’t love a tour anyway but would like to be more comfortable with the setting and just felt super dismissed. - #2 they chose to clean the gym at probably the busiest time on a Saturday morning. I do love a clean gym but for wires to cross OVER the squat rack WHILE SOMEONE WAS SQUATTING was actually really funny and just seemed so unnecessary especially when the gym was super busy already. -#3 if they want to argue “we clean all the time no matter if it’s busy because we want it to be a luxury experience” i would argue the showers in the women’s locker room, though nice and up to date, were riddled with hair and some pink substance through the tiles (not shampoo because that was white), and again, for $230/mo I would maybe like a cleaner space to clean my body. -#4 the juice bar that they advertise was closed. Not sure if it is all the time but the perfect time to be open seems to be a Saturday morning after all the classes get out and it seems if it’s not open at the busiest time… is it ever? Overall this was a super busy gym, cardio equipment is great and new and I'm sure the classes are well run, but the staff was not friendly, not enough machines for the amount of people AND you do have to pay for parking AFTER validation (goes from $42 to $6.25- but again… i am already paying $230/mo and if I go every day, that adds up). I would skip this gym honestly and spend your money on an independent yoga studio, cycling class or something of that nature if that is the pull. Otherwise if you are going to lift- there are plenty others that are cheaper and likely more worth your money/time.

Reilly Memorial Recreation Center, located in Cleveland Circle, is a popular facility managed by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. During the summer season, it offers free access to its swimming pool, making it a busy spot on hot days. Visitors are advised to arrive early if they plan on swimming laps. The park surrounding the center is a picturesque location near tourist attractions and provides a great place for leisurely walks, although pet owners should note that it's not fenced in.
I’m 67 and I’ve been going there since I was a kid. Friendly staff, clear water and family friendly plus plenty of space for adults to swim.

A very pretty park right near all the tourist stops in this area. We brought out dog here to go walking, but note that it is not fenced in and therefore you cannot take your dog off leash while here. That being said, I had a great time on a beautiful day just strolling around. You should definitely check it out if you get the chance to do so!

This is a solid outdoor pool. The outdoor area is nice- pool is clean. I gave 3 stars because the bathrooms/ changing rooms were absolutely filthy. Shower curtains and corners having black mold. I would’ve taken a pic but didn’t have my phone at the time. I don’t expect it to be spotless- but it looks like no one cleans those areas well
Danyel C — Google review
They don't properly chlorinate and monitor the pH of the pool here. The lifeguards don't pay attention to anything besides their coworkers, and the bathrooms are gross. On top of that, they occasionally kick everyone out of the pool with no explanation or timeline of when you can get back in. But it's free so I guess who cares? Just practice safe pool hygiene, because the pool won't do its share.
Sarah O — Google review
Went there last year during summer with my family all prepared in swim suits, but it wasn’t opened and no notice online or at the door that it was closed. Only a locked door. Saw another person in swimsuit also disappointed upon arrival. We never went there again.
Pearline J — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at this pool involving how staff treated a group of teenagers—and how quickly the situation escalated unnecessarily. A group of kids and some older teens/adults were tossing a football around in the pool. A man who was sitting in the middle of the play area got splashed and seemed upset. Shortly after, lifeguards came out. Then the man swam over and took the football from the water—just before a child could grab it—and tossed it to staff. More staff came out, some people were asked to leave, and the football was no longer visible. A teenager, who owned the football but hadn’t been using it, asked staff if he could have it back so he could leave. Staff told him they didn’t take the ball and didn’t have it and were very short and strict in that he needed to leave. The teen got upset and states he didn’t want to leave without his football, which the staff seemed incapable of understanding. His friends calmly stepped in and helped him leave the situation- presenting much more emotional regulation and calmness than the adults around them. I asked the manager why the teen couldn’t have his football back. He responded sarcastically, “Do you see it on me?” While patting pockets. At the same time, another staff member who seemed to be the head lifeguard was walking in the other direction following the kids who were calmly leaving, said out loud, “I have every right to confiscate a ball.” I pointed this out, to clarify that staff did take the ball and then staff changed their story—saying they took the ball, gave it to another kid, and lost it. When I continued to ask questions, staff said, “You don’t understand—we’ve had issues with this kid,” and their tone with me noticeably shifted. As a white woman, I was suddenly being brought into the conversation differently, which made me feel more valid in my concern that this was a racially motivated response on behalf of the staff. Police were eventually called. Two officers arrived. The kids had already left. This could’ve been resolved with communication and basic fairness. Instead, a teen lost his property, was dismissed, and the adult who took the ball stayed in the pool. Really disappointing handling by staff. Maybe address this in a less targeted way by implementing no balls allowed, or make it staff policy that property can only be confiscated by staff and must be placed in an office or somewhere safe and then returned to owner. I also don’t get having a “problem” with a kid as a grown adult. All I saw was adults not knowing how to maturely and diplomatically handle a small situation, but instead escalating it and validating inappropriate behavior such as stealing personal property. Very disappointing.

Cambridge YMCA, a community-focused nonprofit established in 1844, offers recreational programs and services for all ages. The Central Square YMCA features an old-school basement pool with three lanes available during various lap swim hours. Monthly memberships range from $45-55 depending on age, with alternative week and day passes available. Visitors appreciate the variety of workout areas and equipment, making it suitable for different training needs.
Best environment I’ve seen from a gym! Very large and great assortment of equipment including, many benches, lots of free weights, lots of cables, hack squat, smith machine, and Olympic lifting room. Great people and staff who listen to the gym-goers. Can be crowded at some times but definitely tolerable. Love it here!
Orlando S — Google review
Staff was 0% helpful as a new member and no one has been able to help me in cancelling my membership. Save your $ to all the other better YMCA's in the area.
Caroline N — Google review
I’m torn, because the staff here is lovely, there’s enough equipment even during busy times and they used to have a $39/month membership for students! Which was affordable and appropriate. They recently stopped offering the student membership and the prize now begins at $59! I was not notified of that change and I also think that 60 bucks per month is too much for a student’s budget.
Felix M — Google review
I mostly want to share this review to address what I think are inaccuracies in other peoples' reviews. I've been working out for 4 years and recently moved to Cambridge and I can say this gym has all the equipment I need for every workout I do (the only thing they don't have is the lying leg curl but they have seated leg curl so just use that one). I like that it has a separate stretching room. Other reviews say that some of the rooms are loud but that's expected if you go to any gym. You can wear noise-cancelling headphones which really helps. Someone also mentioned they play the song Closing Time every day. Maybe that was true before but it's certainly not true now. Another review said that it gets crowded but to be honest this is the least crowded gym I've been to (I've worked out at very different times and it's still less crowded). Finally, I like that they have a boxing room and they also offer boxing classes. I can't recommend the pool because I don't swim and some reviews mention the schedule is crowded which is probably true.
Juan F — Google review
Love this gym! Classes are great and offered at a variety of times. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There should be equipment for any workout you want to do. My only complaint is that the hours are less than ideal compared to before the pandemic. I believe this gym used to open quite early and close late - now on the weekends it's only open 8-4 and it closes at 9pm on weekdays, for the same cost of membership as before.
Kim H — Google review
I recently visited Cambridge YMCA and overall had a decent experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. The equipment was well-maintained and varied, providing ample options for a full-body workout. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the locker rooms, specifically the sauna and steam room. The tiles and surfaces were not properly cleaned and had an unpleasant odor, and the sauna was not operating properly during my visit. This negatively impacted my overall experience. In conclusion, while the staff and equipment at Cambridge YMCA were great, the lack of attention to cleanliness in the locker rooms was a drawback. I hope that improvements will be made in this area to ensure a more enjoyable and hygienic experience for members in the future.

The Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center, commonly known as FitRec, is a fantastic destination for fitness enthusiasts. These hours are typically scheduled at convenient times to accommodate various schedules.
Bu fitness and facilities. The basket ball indoor hall facilities is really nice. The wooden floor also nice and clean. Went here for graduation, all the facilities is great including the swimming pool and fitness tools are good, keep it up boston university

Fitness and Recreation Centre is part of John Hancock Students Village, which also includes Agganis Arena ( named after BU top football/ baseball player). The centre is equipped with free weights and various physical exercise/ work-out machines, including tread- mills. Good facilities and novel rooms for individuals and groups. However, capacity is limited and leads to increased waiting time during peak hours. BU should keep the charges subsidised to encourage students for fitness. In the village context, high-rise towers for students' residence are appreciated...
Khalid O — Google review
Good gym overall, used it when in college. Always packed though. Upper management can be out of touch with user needs/ requests at time, and management has been known to be rude.
Alec C — Google review
While the facilities themselves are nice, the gym is always packed (too much so for members to be able to work out successfully/ in a timely manner), and management/ staff members are known to be both unprofessional and rude. Policies set by management are often too stringent and performative to be beneficial, and those policies that should be upheld (preventing slamming of weights, calling out dangerous behaviors) are ignored by part-time student staffers. Students are rarely able to secure jobs due to uncoordinated hiring efforts. Recently, FitRec held a "Membership Appreciation Day" to celebrate those who pay for a membership to the facility, with catered food. BU students, whose membership is a part of our tuition, were not welcome. I found this to be a blatant display of disrespect and neglect towards paying members. If I could opt out of attending this gym, I would. Unfortunately, students are unable to do so and paying for an additional gym is out of my financial range.
Nathalie C — Google review
There are aspects that I absolutely love; there are a few reservations that I can't ignore. Pros: The variety of machines and the multiple sections for free weights make it a haven for those who appreciate a diverse workout routine. The availability of different rooms for both individual and group exercises is a thoughtful touch. It's fantastic to have the option to isolate yourself or engage in a group workout without disrupting the standard gym flow. However, the primary drawback is the size of the gym in relation to its popularity. It often feels like the facility was designed for a much smaller student population. During peak hours (and most hours), the space becomes crowded, making it a challenge to navigate through the different workout areas. If you're accustomed to a more intimate gym experience, this may not be the ideal fit. I can't help but draw a comparison to larger, high-end gyms like Equinox, where crowding might be expected. While this gym is not exactly on par with that scene, the occasional overcrowding gives a taste of that atmosphere, which may not be everyone's cup of tea. On a positive note, the gym does offer multiple rooms for various exercises, but the issue arises when these rooms fill up quickly during busy hours (or any hours). It can be a bit frustrating when you have a specific workout in mind, and the designated areas are occupied. In conclusion, this gym has its pros and cons. If you can overlook the occasional crowding and appreciate the variety of workout options available, it's still a solid choice. While it may not be perfect, the positives do outweigh the negatives for those who are willing to adapt to a more bustling fitness environment. --- You can find me on Insta: @imdanielyoon

I came here on a day pass very recently. I came in during the early afternoon. I was greeted by an attractive coed at the front reception area. She was very friendly, polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I told her I was there for a workout and that she did not have to give me a tour. I was extremely impressed with the size of this facility. It is well over 150 thousand square feet with multiple levels. There are so many modalities to choose from for your fitness needs that you would get dizzy trying to name them all. This facility is Boston University's gym and fitness center, so they spare no expense in providing their members with the best fitness equipment that is available on the market. As I began my workout, I noticed the many different types of weights and weight lifting machines that are available for the members. I was able to complete my workout without waiting to use any of the machines/free weights. I finished with a 4 mile jog on one of their dozens of treadmills. The monthly fee is about eighty three dollars per month. I plan on joining this week. I recommend this facility for anyone who is looking for a top-notch gym that will meet any and all of your fitness needs. I also highly recommend that you visit their website for more information. Good luck!!

It provides residents with the opportunity to appreciate urban living while being surrounded by scenic pedestrian routes along the harbor. The building is committed to sustainability and green living, being LEED Gold-certified since 2017.
I cannot express how much I enjoyed spending almost five years at the Eddy. The gorgeous harbor and park views and access to shopping and Maverick station are wonderful, but the way the Eddy is managed made my apartment feel like home. The building is beautiful, with trash and recycling chutes on each floor, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and two decks with seating and fireplaces. The areas around the building are beautifully landscaped and clear of debris. The residents are friendly. There is a grooming bay for dogs. All members of the 24-hour concierge team are appreciated. Thank you to Kamal and Aramis, who so reliably maintain the building, and thank you to all involved in keeping the building clean. And a huge thank you to Christian, Destinee, and Kayla in the property's leasing and management team, who do a tremendous job while being professional, accessible, and genuinely nice. If I have the opportunity to return to East Boston, I hope to stay at the Eddy.

Overall, my experience living here was disappointing. The parking situation involves a multi-floor parking garage, and while the average car retrieval time is around 2–3 minutes, the spaces themselves are quite small, making parking a challenge. The soundproofing is poor, and loud parties are common—issues that are unfortunately typical for apartments like this. The move-in experience was particularly bad, with everything dirty, including stained toilets, and additional issues such as a microwave that didn't work (which we had to replace) and a piece of metal cover above the microwave that fell, luckily hitting no one. Despite all this, they did provide $1,000 in compensation. On a positive note, the staff was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing experience. The 24-hour concierge was incredibly helpful and friendly, frequently assisting in addressing late-night parties from neighbors. The leasing team (led by Christian) also helped coordinate with noisy neighbors and tried their best to improve our experience. However, when we requested to end our lease early due to the numerous issues we encountered, the manager was inflexible and unwilling to accommodate us, which added to the frustration. Perhaps this is just how Greystar management operates, and it’s not the fault of the individual staff members, who were otherwise helpful. Ultimately, the leasing team and the exceptional concierge are the primary reasons I’m generously giving three stars. Their efforts to make the situation better stood out, even when the building's poor quality and the management's rigid policies made it difficult to feel satisfied living here.

I would recommend looking elsewhere. Living at The Eddy has been extremely frustrating. The building has horrible soundproofing and allows for the slightest noises to travel between apartment units. Given the fact this building is full of dogs, you can imagine how frustrating it is to constantly listen to barking either late at night or early in the morning from the surrounding units. However, other noises will just as easily travel. For example, I have been able to hear neighbors simply walking with their shoes on, talking in their unit, and listening to their TV which is on a shared wall. Despite months of complaints, and disturbances constantly occurring well into the night, management has done nothing to resolve the issue. When I tried to negotiate an early end to my lease due to these ongoing disturbances, they wouldn’t allow it and insisted that I would need to pay a fee if I broke the lease. If you value peace and quiet, look elsewhere. That all being said, I will share a few positives. Maintenance is extremely responsive and typically will get a repair completed within a day. The views the building provides are likely some of the best in the city (depending where your apartment is facing). The gym is super convenient. And the 24-hour concierge is helpful.

i like everything except the leasing staff. concierge is great, but from what i’ve seen leasing doesn’t treat them with respect. things don’t get fixed unless you ask about it in person, anything you tell concierge never gets to leasing because they don’t respect them. it’s fine to live here. other luxury apartments have kinder workers who treat everyone nicely

My boyfriend and I just moved to Boston and decided to enter a short-term lease at The Eddy via Blueground while we look for a more permanent place to live. We were drawn to the unit because of the water views, but after the first week of being here, we definitely wish we had viewed the building and similar units beforehand. Our previous building was managed by Related and The Eddy doesn’t even compare. While the maintenance crew are really nice, the quality and ongoing maintenance of the unit is terrible: the washer/dryer are really small, the finishings are cheap and not functional (master bathroom in our 2-bed is half the size of the guest bathroom with very little storage options, the kitchen is small and the cabinets are cheaply made), the floor boards regularly come apart, the closet doors constantly come off the track and are kept in place by a flimsy bracket and the sound proofing is mediocre at best. As far as overall service, Caleb (concierge) is amazing and has been so helpful to us, but it stops with him. If you go to a Related building, the staff go out of their way to help you and they know you by name. Concierge at the Eddy is really just a front desk meant to manage packages. Garbage disposal is also inconvenient. The maintenance team at our last building managed boxes placed in the garbage rooms, whereas the Eddy disallows this. Residents are expected to bring them downstairs to a separate room. If you have any deliveries, you have to retrieve everything in the lobby (we’ve lived in secure buildings before and concierge always checked IDs and allowed delivery direct to your door). In terms of location, the area is gentrifying and has some great restaurants, but it’s very inconvenient getting to downtown and the parking is challenging. Overall, the water views are great, but the building falls very short in terms of quality and service. I’d highly recommend looking elsewhere and avoid this building.

I moved in the Eddy when they opened. I left a review several years back under Nicholas Gelso (can be found in reviews of 2016 or 2017). Anyway, continuing what that review stated way back then, my experiences at The Eddy never disappointed over the 6 years i lived there. Credit to wonderful leasing and building staff such as Christian, Kamal & Aramis. Like all good things, my time at the eddy has come to an end. In pursuit of a “change,” I decided to move earlier this year. In saying that, Christian, Marvin & office/maintenance teams at The Eddy made a difficult move as easy as possible. Christian in particular is a young man with utmost professionalism and he’s extremely “resident-minded”, always a friendly face around to celebrate great times and also help to put out “fires” in the most respectful and professional way possible. It’s hard to strike an appropriate balance, managing resident concerns while keeping the community/building ownership a top priority- Christian has mastered that! In the 2020’s these characteristics are difficult to find in dealing with business. Christian (and Marvin too) make those characteristics a part of what “Eddy Living” is all about! Of course, i miss the Eddy but i do cherish the memories i made there, while paving the way to make more memories in my new home. Lastly, you can never beat the view from The Eddy rooftop!

Boston Sports Clubs offers a fantastic central location that features a lap pool, perfect for those looking to squeeze in a refreshing swim before or after their workout. While the pool may be on the smaller side, it adds great value to an affordable gym membership. With monthly fees starting around $79.99 based on your contract, it's an excellent option for fitness enthusiasts seeking convenience and amenities without breaking the bank.
Pretty good gym. They are working to make some small improvements which are great. Expect a possibly long line for the men's showers in the mornings due to all the business workers. Otherwise the staff are great and friendly, management included and the facility is kept pretty clean - bathrooms and all! A+ for having a sauna and pool as well!
Demichael R — Google review
When I signed up I was told I could cancel my membership with a 30 day notice after my contract was over with no questions asked. I even clarified with them to make sure no fees would be charged to me as long as I met the time period of the contract. I went to cancel my membership and they told me it was a 10 dollar fee that they disclosed to me, which they did not. I said okay and just paid it. Then, I am told that I need to give a 45 day notice to leave the gym. I get charged another month and a half at a pro-rated cost. Again, this was not disclosed to me and I am upset, but just continue with it. Then, 4 days before my 45 day notice is up I get charged with an annual fee of 70 dollars. This place will try to take as much money from you as possible. They are not up front about anything with you and then they keep charging you for things that they claimed to have disclosed to you. I would stay far away from any BSC.

Karl - couldn't agree more. I had emailed them when they were closed to cancel my membership. They did not do so and charged me when they opened back up. I called to get it reversed, but they said they only cancel over the phone (apparently I could have left a message), or in person (couldn't do that with the gym closed!). I'm also unemployed and won't be using the gym a single day this month, though I'm forced to pay. I was a member there for about six or seven years. While I found the gym serviceable equipment broke down quite a bit, the locker rooms were filthy, it was costly ($86 per month), and every time I left something behind I never got it back.

Dishonest liars. I had a month to month membership canceled my membership in the facility 8 weeks ago and they are still charging me!!!! called them every time my car is charged and they say this will be your last charge; and then it is charged the next month!!! I do not know what to do!!! the facility is good but if you will cancel membership you will probably hate it as much as I do now..

The classes were great & gym Was clean but DO NOT join this gym unless you want to be unfairly stalked & harassed! Had month to month, cancel with trainer, 4 months later they are calling & emailing that I owe them $50 which doesn’t even make sense! If they don’t have the cancellation, wouldn’t I owe them for each month? After 4 calls, Michael said they’ll waive it, great that was 3 weeks ago. Today I get an email looking for $50!! This place is a bunch of hustlers trying to rip you off. Beware because they don’t let you out of it even if you write a letter or hire a marching band!

This company will steal from you when it's time to cancel your membership. Got charged a $99 cancellation fee when I'm a month-month member and paid for that up front. When you call to complain, suddenly there are no manager's or membership staff around. Their customer help line puts you into a purgatory of elevator music never to be answered. I'm filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's office and looking into a class action suit. If anyone has had similar experiences email me.
D M — Google review
Watch out for personal training contracts and hidden monthly fees. The trainers do not understand the pricing and how it all works. I was told several times by a trainer that I would pay one price, then the gym charged me another. When I confronted the trainer about the issue she agreed about the price she gave me. She also stated she was sorry and would get it fixed. BSC didn't take any of this in consideration and said too bad. Not a great way to treat customers. If an employee makes a mistake your company needs to take ownership for it.
Cameron S — Google review
This is the absolute worst business experience I've ever had. Nothing can be processed online, so be prepared to go in person to the gym if you ever need to make any changes and/or cancel your membership. I went through hell to cancel it. Oh, and be prepared to get charged randomly every January. They tack on a $50 fee each year to "keep rates low." I tried canceling my membership after the 1 year contract was up and they told me that I had to come to the gym in person, so I did. When I came in they said that I had to wait until the I was within 30 days of the membership ending before I could end it or they would charge me a $250 cancelation fee. I came back within the 30 day timeframe and they said they couldn't cancel my membership because a general manager needed to be there. I went back a freaking third time, 7 days before my membership ended, because apparently they live in the dark ages and can't process anything digitally and the guy said that I needed to come in on the EXACT DAY my membership ended or I would be charged the early cancelation fee. I left and immediately got a voicemail from the manager who told me that he called general services and was able to cancel my account but would have to charge an me $28 and would refund the $70 charge. I noticed 20 days later that I was never refunded, so I called general services. They told me a refund was never issued and that I had to cancel EXACTLY 30 DAYS before my 1 year membership if I didn't want to get charged the early cancelation fee or for the next 30 days. She proceeded to argue about it for 20 minutes. The woman I spoke to was incredibly rude and smug. She didn't believe me when I told her that Patrick, the general manager at BSC, issued me a refund. When I asked her for her name, she HUNG UP ON ME. I will never go back to that gym, and would highly recommend people stay the hell away from it. It's a total scam!

Public swimming pool
Underwood Pool is a summer-only swimming spot that boasts the title of being the nation's first outdoor public pool. It has lockers and showers available for visitors. The pool has undergone recent renovations, resulting in a more upscale and family-friendly environment. The redesign includes a large shallow end with a twisty slide for older kids, as well as a smaller deep end featuring a diving board and swimming lanes.
Awsome huge shallow & deepend. has a diving board and a slide. My kids LOVE it
Kristen M — Google review
Most expensive pool around. Not welcoming staff when asking questions. No arm bands allowed for babies and toddlers. I have 3 children under 4 who are very capable but need safety aids. Very very disappointing. They are able to swim but with their arm bands. Was told that it was put to the vote and the people of Belmont didn't want safety aids. Looking at the reviews now that doesn't ring true. I asked how can they carry on learning to swim - Answer - you can book swimming lessons! Not an option I'm afraid. I wanted a fun splash around not formal lessons. Many other options I have now found that are free and allow arm bands. No wonder it was empty.

It’s clean. It has ample shade and picnic benches and tables. There’s a water slide. You can get veggie straws in the vending machine. It also charges $20 for a child living outside of Belmont to visit, and $10 for a child living in Belmont. It’s nice pool, but it’s not a public pool.

Non resident review: Clean, modest, local city pool. The daily rate is higher than other towns, but a summer membership may hold more value. No WIFI, no towel service, no chairs/lounges, few to no services. Spent $65 to take two kids for a couple of hours. They do have a patch of grass and some shade.
Lilo Z — Google review
Extremely rude and arrogant lifeguards with power trips. I hear how the lifeguards YELL at these children. Extremely unwelcoming staff and lifeguards. And looking through these reviews, nothing has changed over the years it appears. Lifeguards crowd around the restrooms and just talk, not doing any work. I guess the HIGH COST is going to paying high school students to gossip while "working." The pool itself is okay, but it is frustrating that the diving board gets closed because of "poor visibility," etc. And today was my last straw as the pool was extremely over chlorinated!! Please fix issues with the pool!

the shallow pool was very fun and very nice but everyone had to leave the pool for 15 minutes just to clean it. the prices were little pricey but i wasn’t a resident so the price was $40 for 2 kids and for an adult it was $25 and kids $20

The pool itself was fine, however this was a stressful experience. It was very expensive (as non-residents, I paid $65 for myself and two kids). The posted rules were confusing and the staff didn't seem able to explain. For example, no life vests were allowed (these counted as flotation devices), which meant that when my young child wasn't actively practicing swimming, she couldn't just relax. I asked the reason behind this policy and got blank looks. There was also a lot of disorganization surrounding the required swim test for those who wanted to be in the deeper waters or use the diving board. The sign inside also said that kids had to take the swim test to go on the slide, but the sign outside said this only applied if they were under 48". There was no height measurement to check so you just have to know how tall your kids are (luckily I did). No one knew what time the tests would be and the sign that indicated the time of the next test was from the previous day. Supposedly they were every hour and would be announced. However the next one wasn't, so my other child waited almost two hours to take it. When he finally took the test, he received no feedback from the lifeguards. They simply walked away. You are also not allowed to eat on the grass but have to go to designated eating areas, so my older child had to eat alone while I supervised my younger child. Finally, the bathrooms were not great. There was almost no where to put things while changing as the floor was wet and dirty with only one small hook on the door. The sink didn't work in one of them. I give the place 3 stars because at least they had plenty of lifeguards and the outside area was nice. But overall it was not a great experience.

Great gym tucked away by BMC. Equipment is pretty good, price is cheap. It is an old-school gym with a focus on strength for the weight room. One of the very few gyms with dumbbells over 110lbs. Pool is nice and convenient as well.

It's good because the equipment is usually available. If it's busy you can always grab a bench and free weights to accomplish almost any exercise. Lots of cardio equipment 2 rooms full usually with 1 or 2 people max in either room. Also full basketball court and Olympic pool also usually empty or almost empty. Parking garage attached and is validated. Cold water bubbler. Towels for 1$, equipment cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, and paper towels dispensers everywhere, a/c ,n full locker room with the YMCA vibe hot and weird.

Best indoor pool in Boston, but the rest of the place leaves something to be desired. The locker rooms are saunas, but not in a good way. The pool deck probably gets cleaned once a quarter. The staff are not always kind. But, it’s the cheapest membership pool in the city that doesn’t limit swim times.

Flaherty Pool, managed by the Boston Centers for Youth & Families, is a popular spot in the Parkway area that recently underwent renovations. It offers annual memberships at affordable rates for both teens and adults. The pool schedules two to three lap swim sessions daily and provides changing rooms with showers. While some visitors feel that pool regulations could be better enforced, others appreciate the warm water and attentive lifeguards.
I visited the pool for a bit of swimming practice. A lifeguard/instructor, Marco, noticed me and asked if I would like a few pointers. With his knowledge and enthusiastic support, within 10 minutes I was able to strengthen my mind body connection, feel more confident in the water, and significantly improve my weakest skills (breathing and treading). Undoubtedly an excellent teacher! Overall friendly staff and clean facilities.

I just don't understand why visitors continually park on the sidewalk next to the kids' playground. It's unnecessary given that there's a parking lot and unsafe when the children are out. Asked the attendant inside why people keep parking on the sidewalks every week. The response, "It's the aquatic class. It's always like that." Terrible Boston culture. These are the same people you're swimming with. Used to like this pool. Came over here because the life guards let the teenagers splash and disrupt lap swim at Leahy/Holloran lap swim in Dorchester along Morrissey. Not great.

Absolute worst condominium in Boston. A sham development run by a developer who quite literally has no clue what they're doing. Once you buy a unit, you'll never hear from them again. You'll be left dealing with a hoard of defects in your unit on your own dollar. Talk to any residents that live there (or even the staff) and they'll tell you how much of a joke this building and management is. It looks good on the outside looking in, but once you lift up the hood you'll see this place is an absolute dumpster fire. Go elsewhere.

Gold Star Pool, nestled on Berkshire Street, is a beloved summer destination in Cambridge that opens its doors from June 24 to September 2. This outdoor oasis offers free admission for residents, making it an ideal spot to cool off during the sweltering summer months. With two ADA-compliant pools, families can enjoy a safe and welcoming environment. The shallow pool caters perfectly to younger children with depths ranging from 1ft to 3.
This is not the place to swim laps, but it's a lovely pool for families. There's a pool that goes from 1ft to 3.5ft for the younger kids with a life guard, and a pool that starts at 3.5ft and goes to I believe 11ft deep for stronger swimmers. For adults who prefer to watch than swim, there are loungers you can move around to catch or avoid the sun (easier in the afternoon when the sun is at the right angle). There are MANY children here so expect a boisterous vibe. It's restricted to Cambridge residents--you will need an ID, but it's free for residents. Note that it's attached to a school so I believe it's open from the first day of Summer (6/22) until labor day. Usually open from a little past 11 to 7pm.

Though the pool itself is nice, the red haired women who works at the front desk is incredibly rude. When I told her my age she was very doubtful and started questioning me. Even after I answered her questions she refused believe me, and now interrogates me every time I visit the pool. Overall, although I enjoy the pool itself that woman is extremely rude and snarky.

It’s a nice pool for families and kids, the lifeguards seem to be paying attention and engaged, but the changing room is pretty dirty, and if you accidentally leave anything behind (such as a swim suit hanging in the shower) they throw it away. Literally. There is no lost and found, just a trash. The person at the front desk was markedly unfriendly.

I love all the things they have to do for kiddos! But some of the staff really need to be nicer! & a more respectful, especially to the elders! 😉

Public swimming pool
The Alfond Memorial Spray Deck is a refreshing spot along the Charles River where visitors can cool down and enjoy the sprinklers and nearby park. While parking may be a bit challenging, there are options available within walking distance. The splash pad is spacious and there are plenty of play options for younger kids at the playground. Additionally, it's conveniently located near Science Park and Charles Station for those using public transportation.
Great free splash pad, adjacent to the Gronk playground which looks fantastic and should open sometime in the next several months. Better walk or ride bikes though because there is no parking nearby. Lack of parking does translate to less busy

I love the sprinkler s and the park next door. A shame there is no pool but upside at certain time u can literally see a helicopter lift off in to the air on on of the buildings. For someone who has no car science park is literally a 5 mins walk from this park and 10 min Charles station.

Had a hard time finding parking close by. I eventually found a paid parking lot - Charles street lot located at Pleasure road, Boston. They charge by the hour but if u pay on weekends in the lobby of Mass Eye hospital across the street, then its $14 for 12 hours. Took us around 8 min walk to get here from the lot. No directions, had to rely on Google maps and some common sense to get here. There is limited 2 hr parking available at the park too. The park itself has a beautiful setting against the river banks. The spray deck is a favorite of kids. They also have a decent play area with the usual swings, slides and more.
Saifadam P — Google review
Accessible only from the river side of the playground and gates are not well marked. The splash pad is big and playground has lots of options for younger kids.
Katherine S — Google review
I actually like the benches outside the perimeter of the park, that face the Charles.

A Damn Shame! This pool has been sitting in disrepair for decades. If ever there was a tribute to mismanagement and shortsightedness, this is it! This lovely location for a pool is squandered as boat storage.
Matthew — Google review
Spray deck is cool but I used to go to the pool when I was a kid, sad it’s not there anymore

Outdoor swimming pool
The JCC Greater Boston Outdoor Pool is a fantastic summer destination that offers a delightful array of amenities for families. With its zero-depth main pool, kiddie pool, and an exciting inflatable water slide, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The facility also features a playground and game tables like foosball and ping pong, ensuring endless fun for kids. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, this heated oasis provides numerous staffed activities including arts and crafts that keep the little ones engaged while parents relax.
Lovely and great way to spend summer with so many lifeguards, two options for young kid pool (kiddie pool or zero entry), plus arts and crafts, playground, games, water slide most of time and treats. + Heated!!
Claire K — Google review
Really nice pool surrounded by trees but the teens lifeguarding blast awful music that all the little kids and adults have to be subjected to.
Danna Y — Google review
My favorite summer swim place for many years. Best way for families to enjoy summertime.
