1Highland Park Swimming Pool

Public swimming pool
Highland Park Swimming Pool offers a variety of amenities for families and individuals seeking a fun aquatic experience. The pool features an Olympic-size main pool, a children's pool area with a comforting sprinkler, and adult swimming lanes. Additionally, there is a splash area for kids and handicap accessible features. Visitors can also enjoy the surrounding Highland Park with hiking trails, picnic groves, playground areas, volleyball and tennis courts, and a fishing pond.
A very well run pool in a nice location within the sprawling grounds of Highland Park. I went to the pool with my daughter for the first time on a Friday afternoon/evening for a little friend party/swim. Coming from the country, I was amazed at both the size of the standard pool as well as the "kiddie" pool, which was likely bigger than most "regular" pools I had around when I grew up. Beyond that, the pool was meticulously monitored by seemingly almost a dozen lifeguards working in rotation, so all important safety was in high regard. Both my daughter and I had a good time in the main pool, and there was plenty of room to play around. With kids getting in free and adults for only a few bucks, it's definitely worth a stop for some warm weather fun.
Marcus B — Google review
Nice pool! Very spacious! And very costly unlike some of the pools in Pittsburgh. $5 for adults and free for kids. Definitely will be the pool i attend on a regular.
Iyanna O — Google review
Beautiful swimming pool. Spacious There are adult swimming lanes inside the main pool . There is also a kiddie pool. This pool also features a splash area for kids. There are showers and lockers. This place is very clean. There is also a playground for children across the street There are benches to sit at . You can bring food in. Been going to this pool for years. Been there a few times this summer . Your city pool tag can be used here.AS OF 8-8-22 POOL IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON
Jasmine S — Google review
Woah, you will love it. I am older, do not swim laps. It is so big. I swim for pleasure and mobility. Mostly tread water and do breaststroke and backstroke. There are adult swim times and the community really takes advantage. When adult swim is over it is also great. But for me, seeing all the happy kids just makes me glad. Such a nice vibe in our neighborhood. Being around young people is great! Love.love.love.
Marian K — Google review
Just went to the pool and wasn’t allowed in until 1 pm cause we had a child with us. Apparently before 1 pm it’s adult lap swim. There was maybe 5 adults there. What a stupid rule. The whole kiddie pool was empty and so was the sprinkler area. Won’t be going back there since can’t go in until after 1. Not sure how playing at the kiddie pool would bother the adults with their laps. Very disappointed.
Linda W — Google review
It's soooo crowded on the weekends and the weird lane closures surrounding the pool make it hard to get to. The pool is smaller than others in the area too. There is only one singular tree, and people get to the pool early to claim the spot (or at least that's what I've experienced) Last time I went here, I couldn't stop getting peoples hair wrapped around my limbs. It really needed to be cleaned and overall made me feel nasty. Also the parking situation is ... something. The nearest spot is a quarter mile uphill. I try to avoid at all costs.
Hali M — Google review
We swim at multiple Pittsburgh pools and like the fact that Highland Park has quite a bit of shade. Late afternoon the shallow area of the middle pool is in shade, good for my pale grandkids. The little ones also love the mushroom spray pool. Very refreshing on a warm day! Highland Park lacks the very shallow entry that Schenley has and the adjacent playground of Greenfield. All the pools we use have unique assets and downsides.
Kate K — Google review
A kid puked in the pool and instead of closing the pool for a period of time to disinfect, the lifeguards just skimmed it out and carried on. That’s very careless and an absolute disregard for the health of guests. Swim at your own risk!

Sandcastle Water Park, with its many slides and pools, is a great place to spend a day in Pittsburgh. The park is situated alongside the Monongahela River and has been providing fun & enjoyment activities to locals and visitors for over twenty-nine years. There are numerous slides for all ages as well as a lazy river and jumbo wave pool.
This is a family friendly spot to take children of all ages. My daughter is 4 and enjoyed all the pools. She is not tall enough for the slides but there is still plenty for her to do. The pizza spot is also our favorite place to eat while visiting! We opted for platinum passes this year & we’ve gotten our moneys worth thus far. I would def recommend!
Shannon H — Google review
I went to Sandcastle Water Park for the first time yesterday and this place is beautiful. I was amazed at how clean and lush the place felt. I know the place has been around for a while, but with few exceptions the place felt well maintained. Now the rub. All the employees I came in contact appeared to be under 20 or over 80 and were either rude or clueless. I’m sure this had to do with a “difficulty hiring” or “no one wants to work” which is code for poor management.. I mention the difficulty in hiring because staff was almost the reason I didn’t even enter the park, no one could answer my questions regarding questions to the new season pass I had just purchased. At one point the person at the customer service desk told me I should refer to the web site for the answers to my questions. Still not sure why they even bother with a customer service desk. For all the tomfoolery and attempts by ownership to fail this business, this place felt nice. A good water oasis by the river. I liked how the rides and pools are spaced to help limit overcrowding in any one area. This feature allowed for sunbathing and relaxing areas to be more peaceful. Lockers are available, but they are all located inside the park, and are not cheap. Food and drink seemed reasonable. Shaded picnic area outside the front gate. If you don’t plan to come by car, the GAP trail runs right next to the front gate, which is on the back side of the parking lot entrance. No lockers outside the park. Bike racks not convenient. Lockers are not cheap.
Eric C — Google review
Not worth the regular rate -- only go when it's discounted. There isn't much to do when rides are all opened, but from what I've heard and seen today, they regularly have at least 3 to 4 rides closed every day. Today three slides and the lazy river were closed. Also, please someone send an adult into the Potato Patch to supervise the workers. There was a long line of people waiting for food while four girls were surrounding the potato slices sink with their arms elbow deep in the water PLAYING WITH the potato slices. They were then filling their gloves with water to make water balloons and flinging the potato slice water around the kitchen. They were also blowing up their gloves with air with their mouths, putting the same gloves on, and serving people. Totally unacceptable. I give three star because the rides are definitely fun, but your employees suck (with the exception of the life guard on Dragon's Den asking trivia questions. He was very nice). Pay better to get better employees. Lord knows with a $25 parking fee and all the other ways you nickel and dime guests, you can afford it.
Jeanine — Google review
Such a fun place for everyone! Great slides, food, and pools! Make sure to wear water shoes or sandals on the board walks. They get HOT! Overall awesome place!
Brandon D — Google review
The slides and overall quality it great, but the parking costs more on the weekend and it wasn't specified and half of the slides and the lazy river was closed but we still had to pay full price for more time in lines and less time doing the stuff we paid for. I think it was because they were understaffed with college loss going back to school which I get, bit it doesn't seem like paying for all of the slides and whatnot only to be able to enjoy half of them is fair...I don't mean to sound like a complaining mamby pamby but that might be too late. Nice place to visit and cool location, maybe just call ahead and see what's up and running/confirm prices!
John R — Google review
This was my first time here, my family will not be returning, thank goodness I came in on a guest pass. The food was okay, the rides were pretty good. My 7 y/o loved the pool. My husband loved the wave pool. The employee advised that the refills were all watered down. Also, the reason for the low rating, is that your restrooms and ladies showers were unacceptable. Just horrible, pure filth. When I found out how much it is normally without a free pass, I was just dumbfounded. Just terrible upkeep. I will keep my money and spend it at Disney. Do better, I really had high hopes for this place.
Sonya J — Google review
Seemed like park was understaffed took forever to get into the the park then seemed like half food places and attractions were closed. The attractions that were open were nice. I rented one of the two seat cabanas by wave pool and it was real nice. The pavement got super hot next time I will wear my slides between attractions. Lol
Layne L — Google review
A great water park. Especially on a hot sunny day. We spent over 6 hours and the day flew by. The Mon tsunami wave park and lazy river are favorites. Their is a shortage of lawn chairs. To get one get there early . besides the shortage of lawn chairs and long lines. it's a great experience for a hot day.

Swimming
Schenley Swimming Pool, located in Schenley Park, is a popular spot for outdoor swimming and offers various activities and programs. Visitors can enjoy swimming lessons, water aerobics, and even join competitive swim teams. The park also provides opportunities to explore the beautiful scenery through walking, hiking, or biking. The pool is well-maintained and follows safety standards for swimming. It's a great place for families with children to unwind after work during the summer months.
It was an amazing time 🤩 Very recommended place
Feras ( — Google review
We swim at a number of pools in Pittsburgh, often Schenley as it is close to home. There is some shade near the shallow end, much in demand so usually not available. More shade some distance away . The shape and size of the pool allow plenty of room for the little kids, and the shallow entry is safe for them. Like most public pools it can get crowded and sometimes the water seems a bit off. The lifeguards try to keep order, but there is often some wilder big kids near where the little ones play. Schenley has a very community friendly vibe. Kids share toys freely and mix with kids they have just met. Put your name on any toys you bring. The new dinosaur themed playground near the pool is fantastic! So many modern safety features.
Kate K — Google review
This pool is a perfect getaway during the hot summer months. If you're a resident of Pittsburgh you'll find friendly staff, affordable rates and a clean relaxing pool
Josh A — Google review
They are people who have no emotion towards young children. My daughter swims and plays normally, and she has autism. Every time they tell me to run and swim somewhere, I feel my psychological state has deteriorated. It was a very bad experience. They are not good people.
Fadwa U — Google review
Lifeguards are way to strict, no flutter boards if doing laps, can't have you 3 year old on your back in 2 feet of water, no splashing your own kids, don't touch the line but you have to to go under it. I am a 47 year old dad, former lifeguard and rescue diver. Avoid this place if you want to actually play a little in the pool. Oh don't play Marco polo either too much noise... If it was possible to give this pool a zero star I would. This is my first negative review ever...
Sylvain M — Google review
Off the beaten path, quiet most of the time (busy hours do happen). Well kept, they won't stay open if it's unsafe to swim in the water like some other shady "motel"pools. If, you can't take anybody on your back, but just imagine 50 or more teens doing it at the same time, you'll soon have a messy place, where sharing the water becomes a problem, that pool is not the biggest in the Burgh. Anyway if it was that type of lousy pool other complainers will complain anyway.. It has been our pool for almost 14 years now, and I've never seen any accident like at some waterparks nearby, the lifeguard are on duty 100% of the time, anticipating instead of trying to fix (yes it can be frustrating not to unplug sometimes...). You can feel safe, safety is for all. If you want to fool around, it's not your place. If you want to feel safe when you take a lap, when your kids learn to swim or dive, if you want to enjoy a quiet time to read a book when burning in the sun, that pool is yours. I hope it stays so. CONS : parking can be hard sometimes, the hill is really steep when your car is all the way up-there...
CHRISTOPHE ( — Google review
Like others below, I also avoid this pool because of the head lifeguard. After having gone on a near-daily basis for years, I have sworn off the Schenley Park Pool because I didn't want to spend more beautiful summer afternoons being angered by the man's galling and obvious racism. All day every day, he sits on his "throne" and reprimands black children and families for doing things that, invariably, one of their white counterparts is doing mere feet away. I've observed this over and over and over and each year when I've gone back I've been disgusted to discover that he's still there. So despite the fact that this pool is really quite beautiful, is in a great location and can be blissfully quiet around 6 pm on weekends, I am the one that's not going back. I can't take it another year.
Jamaica J — Google review
Great place for children and parents right after work time during summer time. The city recently worked on a pool expansion this last year, and the location now features a newer area. They also have a kids' swimming pool right by the main pool. Check out schedule during summer time. They usually wrap up the season around the labor day in September.

Magee Swimming Pool is a seasonal outdoor pool that offers recreational swimming, lessons, and aerobics classes. It's conveniently located near dining options like Staghorn Home & Garden Cafe and Rialto Pizza. The lifeguard staff is professional and has improved safety protocols in recent years. Families can enjoy affordable swim classes, family swim, lap swim options, and access to a new playground right outside the gates. Visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere and reasonable summer tag prices.
Great pool. Friendly staff. Lap times everyday. In walking distance for many in greenfield.

Love this small pool! Quiet / not overly crowded. I wish you could buy snacks, or at least water - unless that’s possible in the building at the top of the hill? And it’s so cheap to buy a tag for the summer! - especially compared to joining a club!

Convenient local pool especially for kids during the summer. Lifeguard staff are competent, professional and improved their safety protocols in recent years. I enjoy the very affordable swim classes, family swim, lap swim options & access to new playground right outside gates. I only wish that the pools had longer hours and that there were more shaded and picnic tables.

Surrounded by hiking trails and in close proximity to the Allegheny Observatory, this pool provides a perfect opportunity to cool off after a day of exploration. The pool boasts friendly lifeguards and a pleasant atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for families to relax on summer afternoons.
Liner on the pool is nice, never very crowded when I've been there. Lifeguards pay attention to what is happening
Deb P — Google review
The lifeguards told me and my cousin that if we went to the deep end they won't come save us, 1 star, not worth being told that
Sandra — Google review
You literally have to drive and then walk to Mordor to find this place holy cats. Definitely not ADA friendly whatsoever. About 30 (+/-) stairs. It's a spacious pool with a fair amount of grassy area to lay in. No trees to be seen even though surrounded by them. A really beautiful area overall though!
Hali M — Google review
We bought our passes here, this summer. It is an older facility. Not much room to change and no lockers available. No lounge chairs provided, but you can bring your own chairs or blanket. Pool ranges from 2.5 feet deep to 4 feet. There is a smaller deep water section roped off, that reaches 12 feet. Nothing fancy but clean and uncrowded.
Holley M — Google review
Rowdy teenagers, OUT OF CONTROL not listening to a lifeguard, even though only one was trying their best to do their job!! And to crowed and WAY TO MYCH ROUGH HOUSING AND RUNNING!… and the pool NEEDS TO BE DEEP CLEANED! 🧽
Laura E — Google review
This is a gem in Riverview Park. The lifeguards are great, the pool is rarely crowded, great for hanging out with family on a Summer afternoon. Inflatable toys are not allowed. Just swimming and enjoying cooling off in the water.
Elizabeth S — Google review
The pool is nice. But it's not easy to lug all your stuff up the splintering stairs. They need to seriously get a vending machine!
Tracy J — Google review
This was my first time at this pool. It was very nice and the lifeguards were very friendly. There was a nice hot shower available but as previous reviewers noted there are no lockers or chairs provided. No floatation devices in the deep end but that's a small section of the pool. It's a little older but still very suitable. The parking is a little remote and the walk to the pool is lots of steps... Could be more handicap accessible. Overall pleasant experience and will go back.

Visitors appreciate the clean facilities and the absence of overwhelming chlorine odor. It's seen as a great addition to the Carrick area, providing a welcoming environment for all ages to enjoy swimming activities.
I love this pool ! As the other comment about yelling at kids I'm glad about this makes them understand there are rules and you have to follow them that's what's wrong with these kids today My kids get yelled at and I'm glad someone is showing responsibility and safety to them Looking forward to a fantastic pool season. Dormont Swimming Pool is a spacious and clean public pool located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It offers ample space for families to enjoy, with the option to bring your own float. The pool area includes picnic tables and trash cans, making it convenient for hosting events like birthday parties. The original design of the pool features walk-in slant grades on two sides, providing easy access for visitors. Additionally, there is a fenced-in grassy area that offers limited seating space.
Great huge pool with a nice area for kids, slide for adults and places to sit while on the edge. The children's area gets the shade first and there are life jackets provided if you choose your child to wear one. There's also a waterfall mushroom and a mini duck slide for the children around five years and under. This is by far my 7 year-old's favorite pool in the one he always asks to go to
Sarah S — Google review
I had my sons bday party here. It was so great! You have an entire section to yourself at the pool area with 5 picnic tables. They provide trash cans which is nice since some places don't provide that. They are also super friendly. The pool is huge too! Even if it's busy it doesn't seem too crazy because the pool is massive which is nice. The party was super affordable to for a lower budget party. The kids enjoyed themselves and that what matters!

We went to the Dormont Swimming Pool today for Memorial Day and had a great time. Although it was probably more packed than usual because KO residents had free entry today, but the pool is so spacious that we did not feel it was overcrowded. The pool seemed clean and it was nice to leave our stuff unattended for long periods of time without worrying about theft because it is a safe place. Great place for families ! Love that you can bring your own float !!!

Moore Swimming Pool is a popular spot in Brookline, offering a large pool with varying depths and a three-chute water slide for kids of certain heights. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the pool area and the attentive lifeguards who maintain a debris-free deck. The spacious lawn provides ample room for sunbathing and relaxation. Families enjoy the expansive shallow section, while older swimmers can access deeper areas reaching 6.5 feet.
Holy cow. Amazing pool. So clean! The one lifeguard had a broom and was keeping the pool deck debris free! Never saw that done at another pool before. Huge pool. Not kicked or splashed by anyone. Goes from very very shallow/kiddie pool to 6.5 feet. Quiet too! Nice lifeguards!! I saved a bee. The lawn was plenty of room to have your own space. Just a great pool. My favorite. Too bad we just found it, a day before it closes!! See ya next year!!

Life guards are so disrespectful it’s not even funny. I took my children to this pool and they can’t have fun! U get yelled at for anything. After they got yelled at by the lifeguard, they stare at you the WHOLE time. But is a great size pool.

looks nice from afar, but the pool was closed when it’s supposed to be open so :/ i heard they don’t have enough staff to open it. super bummed

Hello. The pool is nice, but the staff are doing their own thing. I'm just bringing my child to the pool. I'm not swimming. Despite how many times we came this way, they did not ask me for an entrance fee. However, the last time I came, I was asked for money to pass in front of the table. And I saw the staff laughing behind my back. It's not nice behavior. It was done very disrespectfully.

The facility features a concession stand and a playground for visitors to enjoy. Visitors appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, making it a pleasant experience for families with children. Some describe it as a hidden gem in Mt. Washington, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for swimmers.
I love Ream - the staff and lifeguards are always friendly and attentive. My little one and I always have a good time. Clean, never too crowded, and a generally nice experience. Hidden gem in Mt. Washington - safe and kind people...I wasn't a public pool goer until I found Ream. At times, it's basically a private pool. And who doesn't love Mt. Washington?

I taught my kids to swim at Ream Pool 30 years ago and now I swim laps at noon a few days a week and see my friends. The staff is courteous and professional. The water is clean. A great thing for the neighborhood.

When I was here the swimming pool was closed. I probably wouldn't swim there at that time because it was very cold. I guess some people were into swimming and very cold weather. But I am not. I wouldn't recommend that. But it might be a good park in the summer. I'll have to check it out then.
Steve J — Google review
Overcast today, so almost no one there....perfect. Seeming surplus of guards. Aren't there pools closed due to insufficient guards? Water and deck clean but pool equipment (such as poles with nets) is left strewn about instead of neatly stashed. Lends appearance of carelessness.

i went to this pool. and me and my family members went. i am 4’10 i am able to swim in the deep 10 feet. a annoying blonde hearer. skinny life guard is annoying. first of all i was in the what. 6 feet and i was diving . she said “no diving or im gonna have to ask u to leave. and the. i said okay. i go swim in the 7-8 feet and dive. shes like “YOU NEED TO TAKE THE DEEP TEST TO DIVE AND SWIM. when i have . and i can swim. she was bothering other kids too for small things they were doing. like some kids were playing a game and they were swimming and were tall enough to be in the 6 feet. and shes like COME OVER HERE. but they arent doing a thing wrong reminder : they r tall enough and can swim good. and then this lady is so weird that. a grown person. is swimming in the deep and in the 4 feet so she is swimming in both. and this annoying blonde skiny lady . has yo say u are to short. why are u telling a grown lady. that can swim . has to stay in the kids side? shes very annoying and always has a attitude when u ask her anything.

Nestled in the Polish Hill neighborhood, West Penn Community Recreation Center is a hidden gem often referred to as the "Polish Hill Beach Club." Additionally, visitors can enjoy various recreational activities such as basketball and volleyball in the full gym. However, parking may be challenging due to road conditions leading up to the lot.
its so much fun they have a pool and a lounge and a gym
Deymir P — Google review
It's not too bad of a place. I play volleyball here as part of the Pittsburgh Sports League in the summer. Of course it gets very hot, and they don't like leaving the doors open for the giant fan to circulate the outside air. The staff are polite and respectful, as far as I've seen.
Tessa L — Google review
The road up to the parking lot is pretty damaged, so be careful when parking there. Playground is medium sized, gross looking sprinkler that runs all day, my son loved it. Fairly private, as not many people seem to use it often. Some garbage and broken glass around perimeter, be careful with young ones
Tracey H — Google review
I play rec league sports at the West Penn Rec Center. They have a full gym with a basket ball court, and the court that can be converted for volleyball. If you ever need to rent out a gym, this is available for private rental, which I've never done, but have inquired about before. This is a CitiParks center, which you need a barcoded key-fob to scan when you come in. You can get one at the front desk if it's your first time at the Rec Center. They also have a exercise room with different machines and exercise equipment. In the summer there is an outdoor pool. The bathrooms and general facility leave a little bit to be desired, some bleachers are broken, there are sometimes no towels in the bathroom, but the floors in the gym have just been replaced.

Westwood Swimming Pool is a local favorite, offering a relaxed and less crowded atmosphere compared to other city pools. It features a main L-shaped pool and a warm baby pool, making it ideal for families with young children. The surrounding grassy area provides ample space for picnics and play, while the concession stand offers refreshments. Although the bathrooms are limited, the pool is well-maintained and staffed. It's considered a hidden gem by locals who appreciate its cleanliness and peaceful environment.
This is a great neighborhood pool for local kids and families. No slides or diving boards. I live close by. Took my daughter there and now retired, take my grandchildren 2-4x a week. Rarely crowded except on July's hottest days. Clean. Well staffed. Enough grass. Baby pool plus main L shaped pool. Bathrooms suck. Only one shower. But I love it. Nice little concession stand with picnic tables. Lots of organized baseball games throughout the season. Nice playground. We swim, take a hot dog and drink break, swim some more and if we have any energy left, we hit the playground before heading home. If you live in the area, check it out.

This pool is great and we were able to get a family membership cheaper than any other pools in the area. It’s got a great size pool with a larger area for 4 1/2 ft and below that the kids can play in. There are lots of lifeguards on duty and they interact with the kids in a friendly way! There’s a kiddie pool too that’s perfect for the really littles! Very kind staff. Bathrooms on site too.

They have a decent size pool and a kids pool. There are also lifeguards on duty. But that's pretty much it. There are no outdoor lounging chairs, but rather only grass seating. Facilities are minimal at best. It'll do if you live close by but don't make the drive to go there.

I read some review that said it was a best kept secret. Well, secret is out. If you are an adult with no kids, going there to cool down and enjoy pool time, you'll be pushed to one corner and still cannon ball'ed on. Great for the kids in the community yes, but just too small of a pool. We now go to Dormont where we don't have to stay in a corner. It was so very impressive that they had hotdogs and drinks and even pool toys though. Again, great for kids to let them have a good safe time. Just not so much a place for 2 adults looking to cool down and relax.
Casey — Google review
This city pool is the best kept secret! I have for little ones to watch over and all the other city pools I've gone to make that very difficult. There's just too many people and too much going on at the others. It's mostly used by the surrounding (small) neighborhoods and hardly ever crowded. The baby pool is always warm because of how shallow it is, which is another reason to love it there. Can't wait to go again this summer!
Audrey K — Google review
Obviously it is closed during this time of year. However, it looks like it's very well kept. The surrounding grounds are clean & not littered with trash. NEVER was in it, but from what I just seen it looks like it would be a good place for young kids to go in the summer.

Today Thursday, July 30,3022 we went to this pool because our regular pool was closed. There were more people there in street clothes then people in bathing suits. Several ladies were there wearing bathing suits that was fit for a pool for adults only. When we walked to the kiddy pool on the side was a dirty used pull-up. The staff kept walking pass it. Then there was a group of teenagers that was doing inappropriate things. To top that off when the pool closed a fight broke out. Never will I go to that pool again.

We were at the Bellevue woods dog park. My dogs love it and the people who go are pretty great too. The swimming pool is in close proximity as well as a deck hockey court, trails, and a pavilion. It was a little muddy today however the dogs had a great time they're wore-out. came home and got a bath and they've been relaxing and ever since. 😊

Great park! One of our favorite places to visit. The pool was very nice and clean as well. They take pride in taking care of it, and the concessions is a nice amenity. That being said, we're not too fond of the rules and regs here. I can understand why they're implementing a registration program for users (as abnormal as it seems), but what really threw us off in the end was their rule to not have a ball in the pool. We've always brought our inflatable pool ball to this location in the past without incident. We weren't even allowed to use our water frisbee, but people in the pool are in there with noodles, water guns and large floatation devices. Not exactly "an enjoyable experience" for us this time around. The management needs to reevaluate the rules before we decide to come back here.
Vincenzo M — Google review
The pool itself is fine - nice even. The manager, however, fundamentally screwed over my friend who rented the pool after hours (I was one of the people invited to swim and watched this unfold). She was told when booking that if weather prevented us from using the pool, she could reschedule and pick another date. After hearing thunder three times, the lifeguards on duty agreed that it would be safer to leave and reschedule. When she called the manager, Anthony, to reschedule, she was told that we all should have waited in the wind/rain/thunder/lightning because "it would have passed eventually and then you could swim". The total rental was 2 hours and we made the call to leave about 45 minutes in (we did not have any time to swim - 2 people got in and then immediately needed to get out due to weather.) This entire process has been ridiculous and could have been much more straightforward with a simple contract, but my friend was never given any paperwork and all "policies" were verbal/over the phone. Also, we arrived for the rental time and discovered that there was NO RUNNING WATER OR INDOOR TOILETS - there were port-o-johns available but no way to wash hands. No one was made aware of this massive problem beforehand - we were informed when we showed up. So renters beware - get your contract in writing and don't be surprised if you get there and they just don't have flush toilets for you. Ridiculous experience, 0/10, do not recommend.

Drove 20 minutes to get there, turns out they only accept cash/MasterCard/Visa and don’t do tap-to-pay - didn’t have cash on me and use Discover, so they wouldn’t let me in. This should be disclaimed on the Ice Center’s website or somewhere obvious.
Megan J — Google review
The rental skates were rusty and completely dull, wouldn’t even be able to cut a slice of bread with them. There was food on the ice that we told the staff about which wasn’t cleaned up even after 30 minutes of skating. The lady at the front was lowkey rude. I also changed my skates a few times due to them being rusty and dull and was just given different rusty skates every time. We were there for about an hour and just left because of the terrible time we had. They were open for maybe 10 minutes whenever we showed up and the ice was already shredded.
Abby — Google review
Need to alter my original review, where I said the ice was dimly lit. Went here for a hockey game a few months later and it was much, much better. Seems like they changed the type of bulbs they use. Although, I guess they could turn on more lights for hockey than they do for figure skating. Whatever the case, lighting was much better than before. Main ice is decent, but poorly lit (makes more of a difference to a parent trying to take pictures than a skater, I'm sure). There's secondary ice on a rink that may be 1/3rd the size of a regular rink. Unique and odd, I'm guessing they use that for beginner lessons. My gripe about this facility isn't about the skating but instead about the absolute dearth of electrical outlets. It actually seems like someone took specific measures to block access to outlets. To be fair, this facility is on the older side (probably older than current building codes), so it wasn't designed with this need in mind. Also to be fair, I went in for a skating competition that lasted all morning and into the afternoon, so mine was likely longer than the average visit. That said, it's not like portable batteries, and the need to charge them, are a new craze. Add a few outlets or go 'modern' and build a designated charging station.

Public swimming pool
Baldwin Pool, situated in Elm Leaf Park near the Borough Building Complex in North Baldwin, offers a pleasant swimming experience for all ages. The pool is ADA accessible and features slides in the deep end for added enjoyment. While lacking chairs, visitors are welcome to bring their own seating. Operating hours are from noon to 8 pm on weekdays and from noon to 6 pm on weekends and holidays. The pool area provides some snack options, but guests can also bring their own food.
I love Baldwin pole! It's very clean. The people are nice. They have more than enough people lifeguards. Very I was just redone so it's it's nice they have new chairs and things to get some shade. It seems really nice the only thing I don't like. Is the women's bathroom. Don't know about the men's It just seems that perhaps it could be a little cleaner don't like the sink in there. Other than that it's a great place to swim it's never too busy.e so it's nice. It's inexpensive anybody can go there you just pay cash or check. Sign your name and you can get in there earlier in the day it's more money I think it's like $9 and then it's like $6 after 3 o'clock. Really nice place to swim good for kids and adults.

Open to all. Season and day passes at reasonable rates. Sign up online on the Borough's website and pay at the first time at the gate if you desire a season pass. Cash or check. Gendered dressing rooms were the only way in and the women's showers were out of order. Everything else was well maintained. Bring cash for day pass and snack bar. $5 non residents after 4pm is a good deal.
Beth E — Google review
This is a great pool for being over 50 years old. Yes it is showing its age a little bit but I am glad that we still have a pool. The times listed are incorrect. The times are Monday through Friday noon til 8 pm and weekends and holidays noon til 6pm. Don't know where somebody changed the time by phone. There isn't any chairs so you need to bring your own. There is food but just chips, ice cream, candy, pop, water so just junk food. You can bring our own food and eat at your towel or chair. Great place to hang out and socialize with the many people that come from all over since we are the only pool in the area that let's anybody in that is not a resident. You can't have any type of inflatables except for infant floats. You can also bring your own Coast Guard approved life jacket or Puddle jumpers or borrow them from the pool. So come and have fun for the day.
K S — Google review
We have a lot of fun here, but they need more staff. Bathrooms were a mess and the snack bar had no snacks!! Saw a couple kids almost drown on the waterslide - they need a guard to monitor it. It is such a big pool, it would be nice if they had a lap lane or two.
Paul P — Google review
This pool has gone downhill so much in the past few years. No more diving board, the bottom of the pool is falling apart, and no more hot food.. But one good thing I will say is that the staff are very friendly and the patrons are great as well. But the way the borough is maintaining this pool is a joke. If someone from the borough is reading this please for the love of god fix this pool before next summer!
Kris E — Google review
To the person who gave this pool low starts for the website being incorrect - that is not what the rating is for - why didn’t you send an email letting them know. I’ve been to many pools around Pittsburgh and I have to say that is one is fantastic. It is clean, the lifeguards are diligent without being overly strict with pool toys and floats. We had a great time and will be back often. Thanks for the work you do.
Christa J — Google review
My children attended a birthday party here at Baldwin Pool and we were very impressed. There are water features, 0 entry, loungers, grass areas, and everything is newly remodeled. The showers actually had warm water! The only problem I encountered was finding the pool. The address takes you to a street behind the pool that sits up so high you can’t even really see the pool itself. But with a direction minded teen in the car we were able to still make it on time. This was a private event after the regular pool hours so it wasn’t crowded, but I bet this pool gets busy during Summer regular hours as it’s so nice. The staff was very laidback and allowed glow sticks and balloons in the pool, also my non swimmer was allowed to wear his floats.
Amy G — Google review
Awesome pool...clean, they heat their water when it's cold. You can bring toys and flotation devices plus snacks with you. New shade flags plus trees and a tent for those who are fair. Only downfall is not enough recliners for everyone. Bring a blanket or beach chair. Snack bar doesn't sale real food anymore just snacks, ice cream, drinks but, you can order in. People are great!

Swimming
Whitehall Swimming Pool has a modified schedule for the first week and a half of the season. It's now open only to residents who can also bring two non-resident guests. The pool features a new lining that provides good fitting and is gentle on the feet, especially compared to concrete. The zero-entry side is great for toddlers, although some found the kiddy pool oddly cold. The facilities are generally clean, but there were some issues with water accumulation in spots on the men's side.
Nice updates, bought the season pass and well worth the money. We swam all summer and enjoyed ever bit of it!
Caila V — Google review
They only allow Whitehall residents to swim here. Denying two kids who want to swim in this hot weather based on location is insane to me.
Cat — Google review
Nice pool horrible people if your a black family or mixed family they will look at you like you don’t belong here we got here and 20 mins later we got out because we felt uncomfortable the works even look at you differently
Makiah H — Google review
Took the family, great pool. The only thing that was upsetting was that the The concession stand was closed.
John O — Google review
It looks very nice, but even though it said it was open on Google Maps it seemed very closed to me. End of the season perhaps? Closed for repairs? One would think that there would at least be a sign.
John H — Google review
Looks nice over all. There are life guards everywhere that rotate positions fairly often. However, the baby pool was designed with no consideration for function.. Please please add some heating. My toddler was absolutely shivering, even with his long sleeve swim suit, and it was in the 80s and sunny. Their lil bodies can't adjust to that as well as we can, and you can't reason with them to sit and freeze for a while to get used to it. Even we were really struggling with it. Also, the shade over the pool was not installed considering the position of the summer sun... In the afternoon, all of the shade was on the concrete on the end opposite from the zero entry.. Nothing over the pool itself. The smallest little ones especially need some shade, because again, their little bodies can't handle it. I hope these things are adjusted for next summer.
K G — Google review
Whitehall Borough’s NEW Swimming Pool is probably the BEST public swimming pool I’ve ever been to…Bring your own chairs though because the ones they provide go QUICKLY. They have spacious changing rooms/showers/restrooms, 2 Waterslides, a diving board, rock-climb that you climb and then drop into the water, a beautiful, shallow pool for the little ones that has a shaded tarp, overhead, 25-yard swimming lanes, various depth areas and a SNACK BAR that has a great variety of the things to eat, picnic tables included. This pool reminds me of one you would find at a Tropical Resort and is AVAILABLE for Whitehall, Baldwin RESIDENTS ONLY… Admission is FREE, this year for RESIDENTS…Just bring your ID and a piece of current mail to get admitted. Not sure when the last day of the season is, but I think they extended it for this year. IF you are NOT a resident, you can pay $5 admission. Have a GREAT TIME at this gorgeous, relaxing place!👍💞✨🌎😌😃🙌✨
Robert M — Google review
The main pool is great. It’s heated, beach entry, two big sets of steps, then the deep end has a diving board, two slides and a rock wall, lots of surrounding grass. Great if you have big kids. However, the baby pool is NOT heated. It’s pretty dang cold for a baby pool. Took maybe 20 min for my 15m/o to start shivering even though it was 85* and sunny. And there’s only 3 tables over there that even people without little kids take up. No grass or lounging chairs. It’s annoying that they stopped short on the baby pool after all the headache of the multi-year construction and all that $$$$$.

Ammon Community Recreation Center in the Hill District offers adult lap swim and open swim on different days of the week. The center recently hosted the Muslim community's Eid prayer and a Thanksgiving event, both of which were well-received. It is known for its cleanliness, helpful staff, and convenient location accessible to everyone in the city. The center features a large pool that is well-maintained and surrounded by nice surroundings, attracting visitors of all ages.
My son Desean better know as nephew played with his teammates yesterday at the center that was my first time in there I was always in the pool growing up love it then too.

First time visiting but certainly not the last. The pool is a really nice size and for a Friday evening (4:30-7:00) the pool only had a handful of swimmers. The life guards are super helpful and even offered us a sun shade that they then set up for us in the grass. They also played music and everyone seemed to be having fun, even while on the job! Really loved the atmosphere here!
Hali M — Google review
They hosted our Muslim community's Eid prayer recently. Our representative had to hunt them down to get the baseball field opened up for us. Other than that, nice clean place & helpful staff.

Skybar Rooftop Pool Bar and Lounge is a place to relax and enjoy delicious cocktails while soaking up the sun or taking a dip in the rooftop pool. It's a great spot for mixing with locals or enjoying an evening out with friends.
Went during the day for my bachelorette party and it was so fun! Bottle service was excellent, the pool was clean and the music was nostalgic.
Madeline S — Google review
I’ll give it 3 stars. Paid for a table and brought bottles, they charged gratuity for the bottles (they were waxing). They never brought back my change. It might be petty but it’s my money… The whole place was hot, they need fans or something in there. The positive- the top level was nice and the DJ was good.
Michelle S — Google review
Worst martini I've ever had the displeasure of leaving half consumed. Expected a slightly better presented bartender in such an establishment considering how nice the building is in which it sits on the 25th floor. Smirnoff as house vodka is criminal.
MLROUX — Google review
Never plan a large event here: - it was maybe 55 degrees inside the venue, and the aesthetics simply did not make up for it being freezing - While it might have been nice to warm up by dancing, the music was quieter than the music we listened to while getting ready in a quiet hotel room. And they played a number of outdated tracks which did not encourage dancing- therefore, icicles. - Are we a kindergarten class? They would not allow closed bathroom doors and the sole purpose of having a bathroom attendant was not for a classy experience- he was babysitting. - The women’s bathroom was out of toilet paper when we got there, they did absolutely no prep of their facilities for a 200 person event. - Speaking of tight supervision, the 20 employees you had watching everyone’s every move to the point that it was uncomfortable could have been put to better use by maybe hiring another bartender- with only two bartenders making drinks, we couldn’t have met our tab if we tried - Threatening to kick people out when they’re drinking water because they don’t have wristbands is pretty uncool - Actually kicking people out with no warning for a $4000 event is pretty uncool too - If you’re not going to allow the serving of shots or double drinks, but you’re going to go for a large tab, you KNOW you’re just taking the money of the people planning the event. Snakes. - Our group was not particularly rowdy considering the venue’s tight rules wouldn’t allow you to get very drunk, and yet the moment midnight struck, the workers were rudely shoving us out as if we had tried to set fire to the place. They got what they wanted (their money) and we were out by 12:02 no doubt! - In summation, don’t have your event here. You’d be better off in a hotel lobby- the music would be just as good and maybe you’d be allowed to drink water!
Audrey D — Google review
Went there for a bachelorette party and it was a horrible experience. It was way too crowded. The bouncers were ignorant . They only had two bartenders who did not talk to each other. It took forever to get an order and when it came my turn I just ordered shots for the whole group. It took forever and while we were waiting the other girl came over and asked us what we wanted and I said the other girl was taking care of us. She said no she wasn’t and asked what we wanted I told her the order again. She went to make it. Then the first girl came back with our drinks and then the other girl came back with the same drinks. They made me pay for both rounds when I only ordered one which each girl gave me two different prices. Do not go there. The service is horrible and the staff is dumb.
Leah P — Google review
Will not go back. Poor management. Went for a bachelor/bachelorette vip party ( group of like 15) we were all told a price and to bring cash we get there price was different then what we were told and they would have rather had cards. We all paid in cash and not everyone got their change back. The money thing was just a mess. The "vip" wasn't ready (even with reservations) took over an hour to get drinks and the place wasn't even busy. You cant even request a song to be played because they will say no (multiple people from group asked) the bathrooms ran out of tp in the women's restroom and a lady was standing in there with big roll handing it out under doors. And many more disappointments from this place. Would not recommend this place to anyone for a big party group.
Alexis B — Google review
Would've gave 5 stars except they pick and choose who they let in regarding foot wear I drove from NY to visit friends and they wouldn't let him in because he had on the Jordan 11s Concords while I was permitted to enter and I had on the cool grey 4s other than that great place to visit I recommend to all party goers!!
Larry H — Google review
My friend and I were the only ones at the bar on the top floor. We went to order a drink but the bartenders were too busy checking their phones to serve us a drink. We stood there for 10 minutes without one of 2 bartenders saying a word to us. Will not be returning to this bar nor will I recommend it.

Historical landmark
The Westinghouse Atom Smasher, located in an industrial field east of downtown, is a significant piece of America's nuclear history. As the world's first industrial particle accelerator, it played a crucial role in early nuclear energy research. While visiting, it's important to be respectful of the local residents and property. Despite the lack of signage and some litter around the area, seeing this unique historical site is definitely worth it.
Great little piece of history here. I walked in through the fence and walked around without any issues.
Jftravels — Google review
There's not much to see at this location because all of the buildings have been razed. Fortunately, the main structure that is the Adam smasher is still on site. It is impressive. The floors of the buildings are still to be seen so you do get some idea of the scale of the place. Although the area is fenced in, you are able to get into it and walk around. Lots of graffiti everywhere. But at the same time this adds a modern touch to an archaic structure. Worth the trip to get a sense of history, especially the contribution the Westinghouse made.
James R — Google review
It's bigger in person than I expected. Sure, it's just an abandoned piece of machinery in a weedy field but it's surprisingly interesting and kind of surreal seeing this thing lying on it's side behind a row of houses in a small town. I'm surprised this isn't in a museum somewhere.
Joseph S — Google review
It was a bit of a surreal experience driving through a typical, narrow street Pittsburgh neighborhood, rounding a corner and seeing a large tear drop shaped object behind some homes. Hopefully one day it can be turned into something like a park or a more fleshed out historical site but as is it’s still very interesting.
Dallas B — Google review
As an engineer, there are not many places I get to photograph that appeal to my scientific side. However, the Westinghouse Atom Smasher is one such place. Sadly, it's been laying on its side since 2015, so the impressiveness of the device is somewhat lost, but as a photographing subject it'll appeal to the urbex photographer as well as those history lovers and those who are fascinated by the abandoned. The gate on the south side is slightly open to allow entry; I imagine as long as you're not being a nuisance the locals will let you be. Bear in mind that it is private property.
Brian M — Google review
It was pretty cool. The size is what really is amazing. Everything around it on the property has now been torn down. There is a fence around the whole property but a huge gap at the south end that a neighbor said everyone goes through....so we did.
