Water park
Park
Liberty Lagoon is a seasonal water park located in Baton Rouge, offering a variety of family-friendly features such as slides, water playgrounds, and lounge decks. It's the perfect spot to beat the summer heat and have some fun with your loved ones. The park boasts a large central pool surrounded by numerous attractions for both kids and adults to enjoy. From thrilling rides like the shockwave and bowl slide to play areas and splash pads for the little ones, Liberty Lagoon has something for everyone.
I was worried after seeing a bunch of bad reviews, but my boys and I had a blast. Knowing what to expect helped a lot! Only clear or mesh bags inside, no cash, no outside food or drink except for unopened bottled water, and no leaving the park and coming back in without having to pay again. Concessions are decent quality and reasonably priced. Try to plan to go on a good weather day so you don't risk them shutting down due to storms. The staff was friendly and laid back. The park is clean and well maintained. Great way to spend a few hours with family and friends and can't beat the price!
Maria K — Google review
We drove over 2 hours to go to this water park because Blue bayou is closed until "2026" From my own experience today I would not recommend paying for an entire day here because if the weather turns out bad you will not be allowed re-entry at 3:00 p.m. and you will lose the money you paid for the time between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. And before you go here you may want to bring a clear bag I do not recommend spending $21 on a clear bag that they sell as you can see on my receipt you can get one much cheaper at Walmart or just leave your belongings in your car For the small amount of time that my children were here they enjoyed themselves but we will not be returning For someone that lives local to this business it would be a good place but for someone like myself who lives over 2 hours away it was not worth it
Jeannie C — Google review
Drove a long distance just for them to continue to say it's oh it's lightning oh somebody use the restroom in the pool they shut down like every 30 minutes this past weekend it was ridiculous we only got to swim for maybe two and a half hours and we paid all day so it was a waste of money not knowing that they take an hour for lunch break and clean up which I don't know what they clean up but maybe the pool but definitely not the bathrooms or anything like that price is expensive. 60$: in the door for five people not including the food and drinks that we spent there easy spent $150 and I only got to swim a couple hours we're going to talk about this Liberty lagoon.
Judd C — Google review
We decided to come here for an outing with family and friends from the WestBank of New Orleans . We get out here theyre closed no sign of reason, NOTHING . Before we came we looked online to see their availability . The time stated 3-7pm we thought that the time was wrong being that we are in summer, tried to call no answer like always so instead of coming in the morning we came around those times. Need to update their availability we don’t live down here.. what a waste of time AND gas
KeZiyah J — Google review
Honestly I used to love this place but now its just turned into a small Blue Bayou. Hard to even get into now and all the restrictions they have now, because people cant go to a water park without shooting someone. But what do I expect from a place in the middle of Baton Rouge. So if you fill like waiting a hour or two to get in , then by all means be my guess. The pool water is going to be greasy as hell and you gonna have people cutting in front of you at the slides. But hey its only 6 bucks.
Randee C — Google review
Do NOT give this place your money. Walked in the gate, haven’t even put a toe in the water, they cancelled the day for weather. Asked for my money back, dawn the manager denied giving such because “the website states there are no refunds” Receipt time. 11:12 Cancel 11:30 No services provided - money stolen Their new policy of 10-2 and 3-7 pay to reenter is a scam. Do not give this place a penny
Sarah L — Google review
This place looks like it would be fun but I wouldn't know I refused to wait in the line that stretched halfway through the parking lot after it reopened at 1500. I don't know who is in charge of the administrative decision but they need to be fired. Trying to purchase tickets online is a joke. Closing at 2 for an hour to give employees a break and clean the park creates the reentry chaos I witnessed. Learn the manage your employees schedules and give tasks throughout their shift.
Adam K — Google review
It was fun for the 30 minutes we did get to play. I spent $40 on tickets just for us to play 30 minutes. We waited an hour to get back in the water and it didn’t rain the whole time we were sitting out. They said thunderstorms were 3 miles away. The kids were devastated they should give us a pass to come back at least.

City-Brooks Community Park in Baton Rouge is a diverse 155-acre park offering a wide range of activities for visitors. It features Raising Canes dog park, splash pads, a labyrinth for quiet reflection, a 50-acre fishing lake, and a nine-hole golf course. The park also includes tennis courts, ball fields, a swimming pool, and an impressive playground for children. Additionally, the Knock Knock Children's Museum nearby provides interactive exhibits and educational experiences for families.
Movies on the lawn was awesome. Just enough space for everyone to have a lil privacy. There was Free popcorn. I wish I would have bring my off and a little solar light but dedication enjoyed the night.
Felisha M — Google review
This is a very pretty partial park. Most of it is to the side of the streets and to the sides of the golf course that runs in the middle of it. This is a park more so for anyone looking to walk their pets, go golfing, play tennis or go to the art gallery. When the art gallery is open. The Map directions might send you to the area of the park where you can't park or it's hard to get by. Just look at the actual spot of the park in the maps and follow the road there. The parking was located by the golfing area when I visited.
Just F — Google review
Enjoyed the course, 9 hole short course. No par 5's. But you get a good bit of par 3s for practice. Gets jammed up easily though bc they don't honor tee times and just let people play.
Modrone S — Google review
Literally the best equipped dog park. Sectioned for big and small dogs. Thank God for the genius who thought of a dog wash/rinse area.
Queenie J — Google review
Gorgeous place to walk, run, or bike. There is a picnic area across the street near the dog park, too. The tennis courts looked nice and there is also a golf course. Beautiful Oak Trees all around.
Slimmdogg — Google review
Looked for a convenient place for a picnic lunch when there were no rest areas on the interstate. Found this place using Google maps for trip planning and it had good reviews. We enjoyed this very quite city park with huge old live oak trees in a nice picnic area with very clean toilet facilities. Right next to an extensive kiddy playground and a Canes dog park. It seemed pretty popular b with the locals.

Paula G Manship YMCA is a part of the YMCA of the Capital Area and offers various facilities including swimming pools, athletic parks, and a big lake where visitors can fish. The place holds many cherished memories for families and provides a range of activities for kids. It is described as a haven with sports teams, beautiful swimming pools, summer day camps, gyms, baseball fields, and more.
One of my favorite YMCA's. This is the one with the lake. I use to take my grandkids there to fish. We love this place. The lake is drying up now. Workout there a few times.

All I have visited is the tennis courts. We come there once a year for the Cajun classic. I can say the courts are amazing and the service we receive is above and beyond.

Love the EGYM equipment at this location and the YMCA app to track my progress and book classes. I feel welcome and safe going to this location. The facility is always clean. I get a good workout on the EGYM equipment, get in/out with no problems.

I toured recently. The weight area shrunk. Not worth 60.00 a month ie max fitness is 20.00. It has a psychology of weakness and socialism ie inclusivity ie but not that of serious athletics. This seems to be ubiquitous with gyms. You have to be carefull because a crowd psychology of weakness is unhealthy ie because it can change your thoughts and ideas I know they said they expanded the ' workout area' but yes they contracted it considerably fron 8 to 10 years ago. As well , they got rid of the hammer strength squat and southside ymca which had a hammer strength dead lift closed. Basically they put all the weigjt equiptment in a room that looks lime a hotel gym. Its obvious that that want to discourage serious lifters and pull say the geriatric crowd. The floor space with resistance exercise space ie weights and machines is under 1/2 of what it was 8 to 10 years. It was retarded to get rid of old hammer strength equiptment and replace with newer stuff. Equiptment made of steel never breaks.

Very active place. We do the eMachines and aerobics classes. I use the app for this gym. Works very well. The people authentication greeting desk are very friendly & helpful.

Mens showers are dirty. It's been like this for many years. Members rates increase every year. This is sad.
Brian G — Google review
Really enjoy the simplicity of the eGym, but it seems to have unexplained glitches the staff cannot really explain. For example, why the strength testing mode goes on for 3 sessions in a row? Explonic mode actually, I read up on it and says it is part of the cycle but nobody really can explain it well.

We enjoy this Y very much. From the friendly staff, great classes, and numerous treadmills and ellipticals available there is plenty of great equipment including heated outdoor pool and gym.

The A. C. Lewis YMCA is a community-focused nonprofit that has been providing recreational programs and services for all ages since 1844. It offers a variety of facilities, including heated indoor pools, steam rooms, saunas, and a wide range of well-maintained exercise machines. The location is particularly important to elderly individuals, military veterans, and people with disabilities who rely on the amenities for health reasons such as coping with winter colds or illnesses like CoPD.
Totally enjoying water aerobics at AC Lewis. Facilities are always clean and tidy. Special shout out to John our special life guard. He goes above & beyond in his smooth easy manner to keep all happy. We all know that is an impossible task but he does it with ease with a dash of compassion, empathy and kindness. We know John will handle whatever comes up. He is a keeper and represents the YMCA in all the best ways possible. Thank you. Debbie O.

I am enjoying the ACLewis facilities especially the water aerobics. The best part of that is John. His friendly greeting, willingness to help with what we need as seniors. Friendly conversation and his attention detail. Your personnel are all kind but John goes above & beyond. Keep up good work. Joan U

Beautiful new build. Clean and updated! They have nice outdoor pools, sauna, steam room and hot tub - all coed. Upstairs is beautiful new exercise equipment with coded lockers. It's a wonderful place to ensure that I do my own physical therapy a few times a week. They also open super early so I can get in and out before work in the mornings.

Ms Malaysia was “Absolutely” amazing in her approach; very calm demeanor, patient, and very precise when giving instructions. I’m very excited over the progress my grandkids accomplished in “8 days”!!!! I totally underestimated my kid’s ability to relax and make such tremendous progress. Thanks to an excellent instructor!

My kids (4 & 7) made huge progress in swimming lessons with Malaysia this summer! They both loved it and are much more confident swimmers. Highly recommend!

Malaysia, Thank you for your incredible patience and encouragement during the beginner swim lessons. You were very calm and supportive to each of us. You made us feel comfortable and confident in the water.

A nice, updated facility with modern gym equipment, exercise areas, fresh clean outdoor pool. My one regret is that locker room space in the new Y is rather cramped, compared to the older one (at least on the men's side). Very little room to socialize in the lobby either... but that's not what the Y is for anyway!

C B Pennington Jr YMCA is a well-maintained facility with easy parking and accessibility for people with disabilities. It offers programs for all age groups, including seniors, and has been known to step in when schools unexpectedly close. The staff is described as friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. The YMCA provides various activities for kids and adults alike, led by dedicated leaders who strive to offer the best experience.
This was my first time visiting this YMCA gym 🏋️‍♀️ I heard it was closing, and I wanted to check it out with a couple of friends. This gym is somewhat built a little different. Looks like there is some old machines here. I like my gym better. The employee, Destin, was very welcoming and a great representative for the Y. It will be closing February 2025 🥹. The holiday decorations get my #1 vote over all the places I have been This season. Telling It Like it IS 🧐 TerryB 🦼

Love this Y and the friendly staff. Aqua fit classes have been a game changer for me. Lisa & Mishka are both excellent instructor's. Both are unique and keep us motivated. There are water weights, foam boards and noodles to help with water resistance. The lifeguards are all friendly and vigilant. My son prefers this Y because it has 12 ft deep area and he doesn't have to wait for lanes to open or classes to end before getting in the pool area. The center has an upstairs walking area above the gym. It has two decent dressing/shower areas with lockers on two separate locations. The workout area looks out to the pool and has plenty of equipment. I never had to wait long for a machine like most Y's I visited recently. The monthly fees are reasonable and affordable. Love that they offered 0 joining fees this Summer. Looking forward to trying the pools with heat during the winter months. (Americana Y, Paul G Manship Ymca and a new one being built and due to open 2025.

Great family environment. Classes offer accomplished instructors and the gym has a nice range of equipment without being overwhelming. While, Ms. Amany and Ms. Pam in the daycare are exceptional with my child, he looks forward to accompanying me to the gym.

Tried out the spin class. 1 hour workout with no standing breaks. Everyone was really nice and supportive. I'll be back, but with a wide seat cushion...crotch area sore due to the really small and hard seat. My legs felt like jelly when we were done, but it's a great workout!

The announcment of the closure of this branch has left me deeply saddened. I had plans to return to this branch in 2025 after many years of not returning. I started coming to this YMCA branch in 1996 for summer camp. The summer camp had so many campers that some had to be sent to Faith Prysteberian Church on Old Hammond Highway. The indoor pool was a blessing and its unfortunate the flood of 2016 did alot of damage to the YMCA. The after school care was a blessing and the swimming lessons and sports as well. I wish this didnt have to happen. Im glad I have pictures and trophies to remember this place because I enjoyed it growing up. Thank you for everything and God Bless.
Loueezy R — Google review
If I could give negative stars I would, this place will never be getting business from me ever again! The people that work there are rude, when I came there for swim lessons in the first day someone asked me with an attitude why I was there, and then on the days my child had swim lessons they said they would let us know 30 minutes before if they would be cancelling class only to let me know as I'm walking to the pool. And not only that but when I asked about a refund they said that they couldn't give one but in a group text it was stated that we would get refunded for the days missed. I do not live close so that is not only a waste of time but a waste of gas! And lastly my children were looking forward to swim lessons this summer and thanks to them my children are sad. They won't be getting another dime out of me!!!!

Very Clean, Easy Parking And Handicap Accessible, C B Pennington Jr YMCA Has Programs For All Age Groups Including Senior Citizens. The Staff Members Are All Very Friendly, Helpful, Knowledgeable And Professional. Last Year When Several Schools Closed Without Any Advanced Notice To The Parents And Guardians, This Particular YAMC Stepped Up And Accepted The School Children. Especially The Lower Elementary And Middle School Children. Also This YMCA Had Staff On Hand To Provide Age Appropriate Activities For These Children. Therefore A Lot Of Parents And Guardians Were Able To Go To Their Jobs And Work Their Schedule Shifts. I Would Definitely Rate This YMCA 10/10. "Definitely A Great Asset To The Community Especially In A Time Of Need".

Great park for whatever you want to do. Clean has bathrooms a large play area for the kids to play where you can sit and watch them play

I took my grandson to swim at this park today . The pool was really clean and well keep. He had a great time. However, the best thing about the experience was the lifeguard, Waylon. He was a very kind, sweet and knowledgeable young man. He gladly answered all my questions and even helped me carry my things from and to my car. It is clear that he is an outstanding young man. Awesome example to other young man.

This is a very beautiful park. I used to visit this park when I lived near by, but the city has since then remodeled it. It is a very nice place to bring your family or to even rent for an event. I would recommend this park to anyone looking for nice family fun.

Very clean and well kept. Quiet park with interesting attractions that allow for a learning opportunity. My son loves the fighter jets outside the gym.
Brittanny B — Google review
Went there for a dance competition and they (the center staff) were very rude and unorganized. We got kicked out of our dressing/practice room when they discovered they'd double booked a birthday party. Then they had to get the tables from the gymnasium behind a door where the bleachers were and that we were sitting on WHILE THE COMPETITION WAS GOING ON. The young lady then started rolling the table across the dance floor WHILE A TEAM WAS DANCING! When the coach tried to grab the table and roll around the outer perimeter of the floor, the center staff snatched the table back and continued to cross the floor where they were dancing. They had to stop the routine and start from the beginning. Then they came back again and told us we would have to move because they needed more tables because the ones they had gotten were broken. The restrooms were nasty with no soap. My grandson left his cellphone in the restroom and SEVERAL people told me they saw someone take it to the front office and turn it in. When I went to the front office, the staff was acting dumbfounded like they didn't know what was going on (VERY POOR ACTING). Overall this experience was horrible.

UREC at LSU provides a range of recreational options, including three aquatic facilities to help visitors stay cool during the summer. The outdoor lap pool is split into two sections with four lanes each for deep and shallow water activities. The facility boasts state-of-the-art equipment, a three-story running path, pools, lazy river, and climbing walls. While primarily designed for LSU students and faculty, there are options for family memberships. Visitors praise the phenomenal facility and accommodating staff but note that parking can be challenging.
It’s a truly phenomenal gym! It’s got more equipment and features than anything that you’ll find. Now the downside is, it’s expensive, it’s primarily designed for LSU students and faculty. You do have some options to get family membership if you are related to someone that works at the university, etc. So it’s not cheap, you pay for what you get. State of the art facilities , state of the art equipment, three-story running path, pools, lazy river, climbing walls…. It’s truly amazing. Check it out. You can always get a guest pass if you have someone you know that goes there.

The UREC at LSU is hands down one of the best places on campus, offering everything you could need for fitness and fun. From a huge selection of weightlifting equipment and cardio machines to the indoor track and climbing wall, it’s built for every type of workout. The pool area is great for laps or just relaxing, and the courts for basketball and indoor soccer are top-notch. The whole facility is super clean and well-maintained, and the staff is always friendly and ready to help. Whether you’re into strength training, group classes, or just looking for a place to stay active and unwind, the UREC has it all.

The lady at front desk, I think her name Jayden, she very nice and professional to me. She always have little smile, and when I need help with my tiger card, she move things fast and help quick. Jayden Smith, you doing good job. The other girl at front desk, Chandler Barr, she big mama melons. She so kind and helpful always. Every time I come, she smile big and help me with anything I need, no matter what. She very smart and know everything about the system. I think she should be supervisor already. She deserve it very much.

Love coming here after class to workout. Such a cool building, atmosphere, and great workout equipment. And that’s not to mention the great classes like Pilates. I love it here.
Daniela — Google review
This gym is really nice. The lazy river is worth a spin and the arcade is perfect for my kids. If you are a member this place is really the place.
Rebeca J — Google review
This has been my best experience at LSU and in Baton Rouge. The group exercise classes, such as Muscle Up, Yoga, Pilates, and Meditation, are thoughtfully designed for everyone, and the trainers are excellent. The UREC adventure trips have been the safest, friendliest, and most reliable way for me to explore camping, hiking, and travel opportunities in the U.S. as an international student.

Great facility with friendly staff and diverse amenities for both lifters, students and players

It’s everything recreational. Rock climbing, lazy river, indoor and outdoor lap pools. The best part is the water s chilled around 68 degrees.

Non-profit organization
The ExxonMobil YMCA is a community-focused nonprofit that has been providing recreational programs and services for all ages since 1844. Visitors love the well-maintained facilities and the warm, welcoming environment created by the staff. From early morning workouts to daytime classes, members experience a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere. The YMCA offers swimming lessons for children, with dedicated coaches who help kids gain confidence in the water.
6yo Son attended swimming lessons. We had an amazing time. I had an amazing time! Proud Mom moment choosing the "Y". He was very nervous initially. Going from not even knowing how to hold his breath to fully confident in only a matter of days! Khalil Jordan as his swim coach worked VERY well with the children, was a great swim coach, and always very professional! Phenomenal job! Rian and Khalil both worked here and another location. Rian was also very professional and she made the effort to reach out and communicate with each parent reguarding class cancelations, reschedules, make-ups as well as location changes. If I had to make the decision on swim classes for my son again I would definitely choose YMCA!

Let's start with the super nice staff. They had plenty of equipment, and there were no lines to wait to use anything. The entire facility was clean and well maintained. They should have a larger/ better signage to the basketball court and swim pool.
CHEN C — Google review
I visit the Exxon Mobil branch several times a week. The staff is very welcoming. They greet me by name which is important. I feel safe at this location. It is also the cleanest YMCA I’ve ever been to! Glad to be a member.

I absolutely love this gym! The atmosphere is wonderful and I enjoy the different classes, machines, and being with senior citizens. It's never a dull moment and the coffee is awesome! They have summer programs for the kids, a nice clean pool, clean showers, clean restrooms, a clean locker area, and clean facility over all. I Love this gym!!!

I called yesterday for my daughter to get her enroll for private class or training she is new to swim, Lady at the reception she has no information what is the process and how much they charge. She keep telling check the website I am not sure with this information She did not have any knowledge what if the kid has no experience. All excuse was not in a mood to help! I am not going to enroll my daughter where they don’t know about the safety.

Absolutely love this place. The facilities are nicely cared for and the staff have created a warm and welcoming environment. My husband and I have 5:30 am workouts during the weekday and we have nothing but great things to say about the staff and members. Recently I have been able to take classes during the day and have received the same warm culture. It's an awesome family of support and pleasurable experience at the ExxonMobil YMCA. You will not be disappointed. Look to receive more than a great workout, you get a great extended family as well!

Park
BREC, short for the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge, offers a variety of parks and walking trails across the area. These parks are family-friendly with playgrounds, splash pads, and free Wi-Fi available. The organization is praised for its management and maintenance of green spaces like Comite Bike Trails and Bluebonnet Swamp. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities and the presence of law enforcement for safety.
I go here to work out at the gym. Relaxing atmosphere, never crowded.
ANDREW S — Google review
Great place good persons, wish they had a pool, and gym there.. for basketball recreations...
Javoca D — Google review
While I love BREC and the parks and have been sending my son to Afterschool Adventures since 2021, things changed recently. A new person took over the program at Antioch Park and has utterly ruined it. Instead of kids getting to burn off some energy after spending an entire day sitting at a desk in school, they are forced to sit at a table and be quite. This should be a time for them to play and socialize and for their minds to get a rest.
Lance B — Google review
Great gym option when visiting from out of town! Decent equipment and low daily fee $, not too crowded
Lcoger82 — Google review
BREC has done an amazing job with so many of its parks and walking trails. From the Comite Bike Trails to the Bluebonnet Swamp, I am grateful to have BREC in place to manage, create and take care of the greenspace that surrounds our urban environment in all corners of BR.

MEAN COUNSELORS at ANTIOCH BREC PARK is a thing. the boys told me Tuesday of horrible stories that counselors being mean to kids. my neighbor told me about a fb group that had been saying the same thing for the past 2 weeks regarding their children. children are made fun of until they cry, they had to write lines, and there is a list of bad kids that can't go swimming. I called the main office and recieved a return call from one of the local supervisors. she told me these issues have been dealt with and she couldn't give me information on other children. apparently 3 other mothers from the fb group have called as well. NOTHINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED. I feel that this is the only thing I can do to make the public aware. and a survey is not gonna do it. you are welcome to share this post

Overall, it's a great spot for families to enjoy a day out together.
Beautiful Park! Draw Back One way in One way out!

Horrible there is no chairs for the public to sit, staff was very prejudice with the African American community and treated us very harsh and we didn’t enjoy ourselves at all ! It’s sad that these parks and pools in the predominantly black communities are in the condition! There is no equality here period
