Japanese curry restaurant
Asian restaurant
Magic Spice Shimokitazawa shop, also known as "Magispa", is a popular soup curry restaurant that has gained fame for being the inventor of soup curry. The concept behind Magispa is to offer a variety of healthy curry dishes that promote a delicious and balanced diet to prevent illness and cure ailments. The restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring dishes like Beef and Chicken curry, both simmered to perfection.
🍛 A Wild, Wonderful Experience at Magic Spice Tokyo Where do I even begin with @magicspice_tokyo? My wife stumbled across this place, and I’m so glad she did because it was a truly unforgettable experience—one that felt like a trip to another dimension rather than just another Tokyo restaurant. Stepping inside, we were hit with a riot of colours, incense-laden air, and an almost otherworldly, Buddhist-inspired vibe. The décor was wild, the music eclectic, and the atmosphere felt like it belonged somewhere between an Indian bazaar and a spiritual retreat. It’s safe to say we were transported far away from the Tokyo we’d come to know. But the real star here was the soup curry—a comforting, spicy, and deeply satisfying bowl of goodness that was unlike anything I’ve tasted before. It had a complex depth of flavours, with hints of Indian spices balanced perfectly in a rich broth that was both light and hearty. Each sip felt like a warm hug, especially after a long day exploring the city. Magic Spice Tokyo is the kind of place that’s not just about the food (which is fantastic) but also about the experience. It’s a place where cultures, flavours, and worlds collide in the best possible way. If you’re looking for a unique Tokyo food adventure that’s a little bit different and a lot of fun, this is the place to go. #MagicSpice #SoupCurryTokyo #TokyoEats #JapanAdventure #CoupleTravels

A unique and flavorful experience! Magic Spice in Shimokitazawa is famous for its soul-style curry, and it truly lives up to the reputation. The spice levels can be customized, so it’s enjoyable for everyone from mild to super spicy lovers. The atmosphere is vibrant and colorful, with a fun and quirky vibe that makes the meal even more memorable. The portions are generous, and the ingredients taste fresh. A must-visit spot in Shimokitazawa for curry fans!

I'm an Indian and I loved the restaurant atmosphere, especially the lord ganesh statue. very lively ! Since I'm new here and started experiencing Japanese food very recently, I couldn't comment much about the authenticity or taste. However, the chai being served here is excellent. I could feel a variety of spices present in it and simply a fresh taste. It is very different from the traditional indian chai. I felt it is unique with multiple spices added to it.
Murugappan N — Google review
Not your typical Japanese curry. This is a soup curry, just so you know what you’re getting yourself into. With that said, this place was bomb! They got so many options but very straight forward ordering. And the vibes are so psychedelic, yet inviting. Def coming here again.
Paul Y — Google review
Very unique soup curry restaurant. The building is very easy to spot with its psychedelic murals covering it. They are known for their extreme spice levels. In addition to the spice, there are many toppings and even the option of adding CBD to your curry. Maybe this was a way to counteract some of the pain from the spice? They brew their own beer as well and it was fantastic.
Max K — Google review
Score just based on my opinion and tasted preferences. Heard the hype of this curry place and saw the reviews so decided to try for myself. First impression, it didn't look like curry, didn't smell like curry, certainly didn't taste like curry. More like a Sichuan mala soup than not, just less numbing. None of the curry aroma, no any kind of milk or starch to give the soup a little more depth to hold everything together. I was so disappointed but not surprised since I did read some reviews about the watery soup. If some say this is Hokkaido style curry soup, it didn't look like it either. IMHO, this place does not serve curry, just some spiced watery soup with no resemblance of any curry I know of. Chai tea was good though. Anyway, I am quite surprised at the averaged high score in reviews, guess taste is very subjective, oh well...

Amazing!!! My hunt for spicy food led me to Magic Spice, and it absolutely delivered! The soup curry is a unique and flavorful experience, and with seven spice levels, you can truly tailor the heat. I cranked it up and was thrilled with the intensity and depth of flavor. A must-visit for spice lovers!
Plotting M — Google review
This is the original soup curry restaurant with its main branch in Hokkaido. Although this restaurant's curry is called curry, it is very difficult to describe its unique spicy flavor. However, once you take a bite, you will surely be captivated by the spice and flavor.🍛🍛🌶🌶 You can create your own original curry by adding your own spiciness and toppings. We recommend that you try this soup curry and discover a new world for yourself.👍✨

Ramen restaurant
Noodle shop
Soba House Konjiki-Hototogisu is a cozy and efficient eatery that serves up generous bowls of ramen soup featuring homemade noodles. This restaurant has gained recognition for its inclusion in the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants list and earning a one-star rating. The menu features two specialty ramen options: one with soy sauce, pork, and clam-based broth, and another with salt-based broth infused with red sea bream and clam.
An excellent bowl of noodles. Main points are; 1.Broth had excellent depth 2. Noodles were not too heavy 3. Excellent portion of meat on the side as welk as in the ramen. 4. Really nice egg with a little kick....i think maybe soaked in vinegar or some sauce prior to being places in the bowl. All in all an excellent experience and can understand the bib gourmound from Michelin.
Roger V — Google review
We happened to chance upon Soba House Konjiki-Hototogisu when we were looking for lunch options after visiting the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. We also read that it’s on Tabelog, hence we went to check it out! When we arrived at the shop at 1pm, there was already a long queue forming up. The important thing to note is that the signage isn’t clear - one would need to take an e-ticket from a machine beside the shop before queuing up. Don’t join the queue straight away! When it’s your turn, you place your order at the e-kiosk. There’s only 3 - 4 types of ramen, and the shop recommends you to try out the 1) Shio; 2) Shoyu; and 3) Tsuka Soba. Even though we read that this shop is famous for its Shio Soba, we decided to try out all 3. The shop is small - there’s only 6 - 7 counter seats with 1 table seat. It’s not a place where you can sit down comfortably for chit-chats. You leave after you finish your food - this also explains why service and turnover is fast. Ramen wise, it definitely didn’t disappoint - regardless of what soup base you choose its indeed flavourful, albeit slightly on the salty side (we drank till the final drop anyway). The noodles itself were of a certain thickness that was exactly aligned with our tastebuds. If we were to nitpick, the pork chashu was slightly on the fatter side - we prefer the meat to be much leaner. We have high standards towards ramen; while we think the ramen is definitely above average, it did not reach the mind-blowing bar we had in mind. That said, we still highly recommend this ramen place for those that are not as picky about ramen as us!

Probably due to my concerns over my sodium intake, I don't crave ramen as much as I did years ago when I could bore people with my nuanced insight into all the different broths, noodles, and toppings. That's why when I was chatting with our server Noriko at Den, I was surprised the conversation shifted to where the best ramen was served in Tokyo. Understand that my husband and I just had the most amazing dinner at Den. Of course, we were all ears. Noriko recommended this spot which she said served an excellent shio ramen in quite a small space. We looked for it on Google Maps and found it was conveniently located in Shinjuku Ni Chome quite close to the city's gay bars. You didn't have to twist our respective arms. When we found it in a quiet alley, there was already quite a queue of hungry people. We took a number and waited about twenty minutes for our turn. In the meantime, we were preparing ourselves to enter our orders in the terminal just inside the entrance. There was a Type-A guy who was impatiently policing the process, and believe me, you don't want to do anything to frustrate him. Once our number was called, we were told to sit on a bench to wait for our seats. We got lucky and secured a table for two and didn't get stuck at the packed counter. We both ordered the ¥1,850 Shio Soba with Extra Pork Chashu. It was a hearty bowl with a clean broth, al dente thin noodles, and a couple of large slices of Iberico pork chashu. We didn't realize we were getting a separate plate with each of us receiving three more pork chashu slices. We thought they were already in the broth, but we devoured it all with relish and surprising ease. Not that we were complaining, but competing for room in our bellies was a shared order of ¥550 Duck Loin Rice. Given the bargain price, we were surprised at the size of this side dish and quite enjoyed the succulent duck pieces accompanied by rice, green onions, and tonkotsu sauce. Although he didn't snap at us to hurry up, Mr. Type-A was likely pleased we were among the most expeditious diners in this compact space since the queue only got longer outside. Now that we know what to expect, we'll definitely come back. Domo arigato, Noriko-san. FOOD - 5 stars...shio ramen done right plus delicious pork and duck AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...it's a tight fit even if you get a table SERVICE - 3.5 stars...Mr. Type-A didn't become a Facebook buddy TOTAL - 5 stars...it's all about the ramen...trust Noriko

A popular soba restaurant amongst locals and foreigners, customers will need to get a queue number ticket and wait outside close to your dining time, before being allowed inside to order and pay through a machine. After which, some waiting is expected in a holding area until counter seats free up to be taken. The service and kitchen crew operates efficiently and directly, and diners are expected to consume without using mobile devices or having long conversations, which extend the wait time for subsequent patrons. Personally, with many noodle shops to choose from in Japan, what makes this meal memorable are the unique toppings and quality pork chashu, which is enjoyably chewy and juicy. The noodles are also smooth and have a nice bite, complete with a gooey ajitama egg as a classic component. In their recommended shio soba, three types of broth - sea bream, Japanese soup stock, and hamaguri clam broth, are combined to create refreshing composition with a depth of flavour. Topped with a floral bergamot-flavored shirasu (whitebait) sauce, sweet and tart inca-berry sauce, and porcini duxelles (adding an earthy, mushroom-y element to the soup), this dish is designed to provide a gradual change in taste and aroma as one enjoys its sophisticated flavour notes.
Yè — Google review
Their special shio ramen here was an elegant and beautifully balanced bowl. The clear golden broth carried a deep umami that’s both gentle and layered, I could taste the refined salt base intertwined with seafood notes. The thin noodles soaked up the broth perfectly, offering a smooth yet firm texture. Each topping added a distinct accent: the truffle brought aromatic richness, the green seaweed added freshness, and the slices of pork were tender and flavorful. The overall presentation was stunning, with a sense of precision and harmony that reflected the shop’s quality😍
Yasuやす — Google review
Michelin star ramen in Tokyo. Both the souped ramen and dipping one are amazing. They use black truffle in their sauce. There is a machine to get a “waiting ticket” on the day. They are only open between 11 to 2pm. In busy season, good idea to be there before open to get a ticket.
Wei F — Google review
I ordered Shio Ramen with Chashu pork and a rice bowl with duck. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The ramen had a beautiful color and a rich, full-bodied flavor that felt perfectly balanced. The salt level was just right, not too strong and not too weak, which made the broth incredibly pleasant to enjoy until the very last sip. Everything tasted fresh and was carefully prepared, and the portion sizes were ideal. It was a satisfying and comforting meal in every sense. The restaurant itself has a charming and traditional atmosphere. The interior is built in a warm wooden style that feels cozy and authentic, with a gentle and inviting character. It is not a large place, but that adds to its charm and intimacy. You place your order at a vending machine, which is available in both Japanese and English. The system is easy to understand, with clear pictures and instructions, making it very accessible for everyone. The service was also very kind and welcoming, and the staff worked efficiently and attentively. Overall, it is a wonderful place to stop by if you are in the area. Great food, warm atmosphere, and friendly service make it well worth a visit. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Paul O — Google review
An awesome place for a fantastic bowl of soba noodles. I opted for the special shio soba. It was great! The depth of flavour in the broth was phenomenal. Yes, there’s a wait. Yes, the place is a little cramped (which adds to the atmosphere). However, grab a ticket, get in line and cosy up to your neighbour as the food is worth it. Tip: grab a ticket before the restaurant opens. Download the Line app and they will tell you when to return to the restaurant.

Rokurinsha is a renowned ramen restaurant located in Tokyo Station's Ramen Street. Since its establishment in 2009, it has gained fame for its specialty dish known as tsukemen, or dipping noodles. The eatery is easily identifiable by the long line of eager customers waiting to savor their rich and flavorful soup that has set the standard for this type of ramen.
A must visit if you love rich, flavorful tsukemen! Even at 8:30 PM, the line at the Tokyo Station Ramen Street branch was about 30 minutes long, totally worth it. Their signature seafood & pork bone dipping broth is salty, thick, and aromatic. On its own it’s heavy, but paired with their ultra thick, springy noodles, it’s just perfect. The broth clings beautifully to the noodles, and the thick cut chashu, soft boiled egg, nori, and green onions make it a hearty and satisfying bowl. Don’t miss the wari soup at the end, diluting the leftover broth into a lighter clear soup is the traditional (and very satisfying) way to finish. I also tried the ramen, which is lighter but still tasty. That said, if you love bold, heavy flavors, the tsukemen is definitely the highlight. Rokurinsha’s tsukemen is truly next level. Worth the wait!
Moon R — Google review
I pass this restaurant at least four times a week since I work nearby. It always has a long queue, so I thought, why not check it out? I waited around 35 minutes before reaching the ticket machine and around 8-10 minutes before getting my food. I had the large special dip noodles, which cost me 1300 Yen. The noodles were great, and the chasu was very delicious. However, I didn’t taste anything special in the soup. Was it tasty? Yes! But would I queue again to eat it? Probably not.
Rhein B — Google review
When you visit Tokyo Station, you definitely have to try this popular ramen shop! We waited about 15 mins in line and it’s a self-order system. This place is famous for its dipping noodles, so we decided to try two different types. One was spicy, and while it was just okay, the noodles were fantastic - super chewy and delicious! ! Overall, it’s a ramen spot worth checking out!
SY K — Google review
Nestled in the basement of Tokyo Station, along the bustling and iconic Ramen Street, lies one of the city’s most unforgettable tsukemen spots. Though the space is compact, the experience is anything but small. This shop specializes in tsukemen, or dipping ramen, and it’s a masterclass in flavor and texture. The dipping sauce is a rich, umami-laden broth—deeply savory with subtle hints of sweetness and smokiness. It coats the noodles beautifully, elevating each bite into something crave-worthy. The noodles themselves are thick, springy, and perfectly chewy, crafted to hold their own against the bold broth. Despite its limited seating, the restaurant operates with remarkable efficiency. The flow of diners is smooth and systematic, making it easy to get in and out without feeling rushed. It’s a testament to Japanese precision and hospitality. Every time I’m in Tokyo, this ramen shop is a must. It’s not just a meal—it’s a pilgrimage.
Sebastian T — Google review
We visited this ramen spot late in the evening and were pleasantly surprised to find no queue. The ramen was excellent—rich in flavor and very satisfying. Portions are very generous, so keep that in mind if you’re not too hungry. We tried both the dipping ramen and the regular one; I’d definitely recommend the dipping ramen for its depth of flavor. The extra meat is worth adding too—just skip the minced version. Great experience overall!
Yinxiu Z — Google review
Come at around 7 pm friday, wait for around 30 mins The tsukemen is worth the hype ! I ordered Tsukemen special with fresh shichimi - It was very delicious. All the topping goes well with the soup. I really liked the fresh shichimi - it added a unique flavor and refreshing taste to the soup. Overall I really enjoyed this ! Would revisit if possible ** Tokyo station is super complex, make sure you exit the right exit or else you need to walk 10 mins more like me lol

I ordered the Tsukemen, and it was delicious. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the dipping broth was rich and flavorful. The noodles absorbed the broth nicely when eaten together. The boiled egg was well-seasoned with just the right amount of salt — very tasty overall.

I ordered breakfast package ramen as it advertised. It is really tasty! Adding a little special hot sauce makes the already delicious ramen more satisfying!

Udon noodle restaurant
Udon Shin is a cozy spot known for its crispy tempura and house-made udon noodles served with various accompaniments. The specialty Carbonara "Udon" has garnered high praise, featuring a unique blend of soup stock made from bonito shavings and butter-fried bacon. The restaurant takes pride in using quality ingredients such as seasonal vegetables and "mentaiko" (fish roe).
This spot was great and absolutely lives up to the viral hype! The Carbonara Udon is incredible with bouncy perfectly cooked noodles, crispy tempura bacon and a good mix of egg butter and cheese, I love the green onion addition as well. We also got some shrimp tempura that was excellent. We were in and out in about 25 minutes, they are a well oiled machine that gets your food out quickly and it’s extremely fresh. Make sure to book a reservation in advance! We had a 6 PM reservation and arrived to a decently long line that we were able to jump to the front of immediately and only had to wait a few minutes from there. They prioritize reservations first and have that listed outside on their ticket machine. I would imagine the wait is pretty long if you don’t have it booked ahead of time (based on the line outside). Definitely lived up to the hype and was one of my favorite meals so far during our Tokyo trip!

Not bad, but definitely overhyped. There was a long line out the door, which I didn’t mind, but the signage was misleading. Signs instructed us to scan a QR code and wait until our number was called to rejoin the line. However, the QR code was nowhere to be found. When I stepped inside to ask the staff, they just said, “We’re not doing the QR code today, please just line up.” This was unnecessarily confusing, and I wasn’t the only one—other customers were also frustrated, and we ended up sharing information with each other just to figure out what to do. The food itself was expensive, but you do get a generous portion and it tasted good. Presentation was also nice. Unfortunately, what completely turned me off was the water they served. I don’t know if it was the water itself or the cup, but it smelled like an aquarium—super fishy and incredibly off-putting. I unknowingly took a sip and immediately spat it back out. The inside is small, but since it’s not really the type of place where people linger, getting a seat didn’t take as long as expected. The staff were okay—not particularly helpful or friendly, but not rude either. Overall, for the price and the wait, I don’t think I’ll be going back.

My sis in law told me about this place. We decided to check it out as we finished our city sighr seeing walking tour earlier than expected. Despite the early hour dor dinner, there was already a queue outside. We dutifully stood in line. A server came out and handed us the menu for us to peruse. Dur to the limited space and seating capabilities, she asked if she could split our party to 2. We agreed and placed our order. One by one, the diners finished their food and left. We were seated and our food was served fairly quickly. It was really, reaaly good. My udon was succulent and springy. The broth was rich and flavourful. My sis in law had the soba and she said it was good as well. The star of the meal was undoubtedly my bacon tempura. I heard the pork belly was excellent but I didnt get the chance to sample it. If you don't mind standing to queue, give this place a try.
Gevs — Google review
Absolutely worth the hype. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather these last few days in Tokyo before flying back, so I decided to just pay the reservation fee instead of waiting in line. When you arrive, just let the staff know you have a reservation and they’ll move you to the front and you’ll be seated in less than 5 minutes. The udon is incredible. Its fresh, bouncy, and perfectly cooked. The fermented butter is packed with flavor. And don’t skip the deep fried sweet potato as it was my favorite part of the meal!

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Come early to get a ticket which will have a QR code you can scan and check when the restaurant is ready to serve you (you can’t wait in line unless you get the okay). Restaurant opens at 11 I got my ticket at 10:25 (19th in line) was called to come to the restaurant around 11:45 and wasn’t seated until 12:20. If you want to eat right at 11 I suggest coming by the restaurant 9:30/10 to get your ticket. While you’re waiting to get seated they’ll give you a menu and you can place your order so once you get seated the food is already in front of you. Definitely not a place to spend hours in I was out by 12:45. Service was brisk rather than friendly but it made sense due to the amount of people they had to serve. The food was incredible and I don’t know how I’ll go back to eating carbonara anywhere else.

The Hype is Real! This is a top-tier udon restaurant, and the food definitely lives up to the hype. I had the Udon Carbonara with the tempura bacon, and it was absolutely amazing! a perfect fusion of flavors and textures. Now, about the wait: be prepared, because this place is popular. Here’s how the system works: 1. Go to the machine in front of the restaurant to get a ticket. 2. Scan the QR code on your ticket to enter a virtual queue. 3. You'll get a notification when it's your turn to come back and join the physical line. We were called to the queue around 4 PM and waited about another half hour from there. The process is very efficient…they take your order while you're in the final line, so your incredible food is served almost immediately after you sit down. The wait is long, but the udon is 100%. You can also make a reservation for a charge but then you can skip the waiting so it’s a good idea.
Izzy Z — Google review
Nearly 2.hour wait for a 8 minute dining experience. Had the udon with butter and cracked black pepper which was very well done. Not sure if its worth the 120 mins wait. QR ticket shows 82 mins and when I was called to the line, there is another 30 mins more before I was served.
Jeremy L — Google review
I could tell the food is delicious but the waiting experience was definitely sucks. You can scan qr code and get the ticket, and know the latest status through LINE. But the time of waiting showing in LINE does not mean the reality. Once you are called, you have to show up in the queue in front of the shop. And what pissed me off was, people who made reservation can skip the queue, so the queue was already long , and you never know how many groups of people make reservation! I totally waited for two hours (while LINE showed one hour at very first when I got the ticket). And I didn’t know reservation is allowed until I arrived the shop. That was my first time to dine at here. And the staff’s attitude are not good at all. They didn’t notice some tourist may know Japanese. For this price, there are still a lot of udon restaurant with this standard but a more fair price and reasonable waiting method.

Ramen restaurant
Tsukemen Gonokami Seisakusho Shinjuku is a compact and unassuming restaurant located behind Shinjuku's Takashimaya department store. It is known for its immensely popular tsukemen, a type of dipping ramen that attracts long lines of eager customers, especially on weekends. The signature dish is the ebi (shrimp) tsukemen, where thick, chewy noodles are dipped into a hot, dense soup made with a generous amount of shrimp.
Every time I return back to Japan, I subconsciously anticipate the next great bowl of noodles that's going to proverbially change my life. Tsukemen (dry ramen noodles, prepared for dipping in a concentrated broth or consumme) is a favourite of mine above its soupy-er and more famous sibling. Characteristically, the "men"/"mein" is a thicker cut egg noodle that, when paired with a well developed broth-concentrate, plays the perfect vessel for carrying grenades of umami into your gullet. In many ways, it feels more like an analogue to torn bread and dip, or soup, rather than other noodle dishes. Gonokami uses a unique blend of misoshiro and ebi (shrimp/prawn) along with various cuts of house cooked and cured tonkotsu. I had no idea this spot was reputable, but I should have known. From the look of the noodles in online snaps to succinct "bowling" (technically not plating) to the Kaiju-esque prawn banner out front, all signs pointed to potential foodgasm. At GS, the sum of its parts is what makes this dry noodle interpretation truly unique. My friend who has also dined here, prescribed it as almost Italian leaning, the way the broth is essentially a rue with an intense sweetness from the prawn infusion, lambasted thereafter by some sourness from the pickled pork, earthy funk from the miso and finally shaved shallots to cut everything. A nice textural contrast is added with the lotus root blocks in the dipping broth as well. For my money, this is, contextually, an upper tier dining experience back home in Sydney. With places charging around $50 AUD for product with half the heart/effort/sourcing, it feels like the best I can do to top up the bill and give this young team the props they deserve is some words from the head, heart and extremely satisfied stomach. Like any other Ramen-Ya, a ticket system is used whereby your order is captured in advance of your seating. Get there early!

The soup is very thick and on the salty side and you can really taste the shrimp but I like it. The portion is very generous and if u opt for the small portion noodle they offer you one more free topping . Pork and chicken both are good but the bamboo shoot is exceptionally good, chunky piece. The egg is good too and the blanch cabbage is perfect to cut the grease and saltiness. There at 5.45 on a weekday and got in immediately

Walked in on a weekday afternoon and waited around 10 minutes to get in. I have no opinions regarding the taste of the broth because it was quite nice actually, not too salty to my liking. However, the reason why I could not give it a solid 5 stars is because I think the whole dining experience is flawed for people who enjoy a hot bowl of noodle just like me. The noodle was served cold in a cold bowl, and the broth they gave me was not boiling hot. When I added the noodle to the broth, the broth cooled down even faster. And in less than 10 minutes, the broth was not able to make the noodle hot again even I soaked them for a longer period of time. I asked if the staff could help me re-heat or microwave the broth to make it hot again and the reply was no. They said I could purchase for another fresh 'hot' broth, or add hot water into the bowl. I only enjoyed the first 1/3 bowl of the noodles when it was still hot. After that the noodle was barely warm after soaking and the broth became more thick and oily. The egg was overcooked too.

I went there at 5pm and there was a line already. I ordered special shrimp dipping noodles and it cost ¥1700. The dipping sauce was rich in shrimp flavor but was a little salty. In the special mealset, an egg, pork, chicken, bamboo shoots, and grilled cheese were also included but I found them not blended in with the soup. Personally, I prefer the dipping noodles near Ueno station.
Hyso C — Google review
I was hesitant to go here for lunch since I don’t necessarily like shrimp. My friend convinced me to go citing this as one of his favorites. I’m so glad I dined here today. The staff took good care of us. The restaurant provided a nice blend of busy cozy. But most importantly, the food was delicious. Thank you again to the staff and I hope to visit here again in the future. P.S. 1. If you’re like me and not sure what to order, order the shrimp tsukemen with egg. P.S. 2. A different review complained that the noodles/broth was cold. My understanding is that this is on purpose. It did not affect the quality of my meal.

Absolutely incredible dipping noodles — probably the best I’ve ever had. The tomato broth is a must-try: rich, flavorful, and totally comforting. The shrimp-flavored noodles have a unique depth that sets them apart. There’s always a line, but that just shows how popular (and worth it) this place is. I’d happily wait all over again. A real gem!

Small, clean and neat setup. Did not wait too long to dine. Tsukemen was good and strong in flavor, comes with a piece of mozarella cheese that was interesting.
Ang C — Google review
The tsukemen was ridiculously good. I was a little bit wary of the fish broth and meat combination but turned to be one of the favourite meals I had during my two weeks in Japan. The very friendly and helpful service was the cherry on top, and there is a fantastic energy in the local. Our waiting time was around 10mins. 10/10

Tsukemen Michi is a popular spot known for its traditional and rich tsukemen, which combines tonkotsu and seafood soups to create a mild and almost sweet flavor. Despite its high fat content, the soup exudes a refined and time-honored essence. The thick and fluffy dipping noodles can be ordered in generous portions of up to 400g. While there may be long queues due to the slow turnover rate, the delicious food makes it worth the wait.
Definitely one of my favorite tsukemen of all time. It is medium consistency with a pleasant sweetness. They turn the 8 seat counter all at once, so eat fast!

(Translated by Google) I visited for lunch on a Saturday. Located in a small alley just a short walk from Kameari Station, this popular tsukemen restaurant often has long lines. This time, I purchased the standard tsukemen (1,300 yen) from the ticket machine. The soup was my favorite thick seafood tonkotsu. It was super rich, but not too strong, with a sweet, mild taste.★ The noodles were chewy, medium-thick, and straight, and they clung to the soup perfectly.^^ The daily condiments were garlic soy sauce, and fruity fruit vinegar, which added a fun twist to the flavor, allowing me to finish the bowl without getting bored. (Translated by Google) [Visited 2507] Medium-Thick Salt Ramen Michi no Shio, a famous tsukemen restaurant in Kameari, is open for business. The owner is a former member of the Koji Group and apparently trained at fellow tsukemen restaurant Honta. It was a weekday after 2 PM, and there were three people waiting. It seemed like they had a two-turn rotation with four people per counter seating for the eight seats, so I was able to get in within about five minutes. Michi no Shio only offers medium-thick salt tsukemen and medium-thick salt ramen, so I went for the salt ramen, since I was in the mood. The table condiments included fruit vinegar, chili pepper, white pepper, and Miyakojima snow salt. Lemon was served first for a change of flavor. The bowl was prepared after the previous customer's tsukemen was served, so it arrived about 15 minutes after I arrived. It seemed I was the last customer, so they had half a seasoned egg left over, and they kindly offered to serve it to me. I gratefully accepted. The toppings were char siu, seasoned egg (half free), seaweed, green onions, and roasted sesame seeds. I took a sip of the soup. The slightly thick ramen starts with a seafood flavor, followed by a rich, animal-flavored umami. The sesame flavor of the toppings is strong. The noodles are medium-thick and straight, with a smooth, chewy texture. The pork slices are thinly sliced, but still deliver a delicious umami flavor. I squeezed some lemon halfway through, but the rich soup didn't really add much to the flavor. Following the instructions on the table, I added more salt to adjust the strength to my liking, and finished the bowl. The careful work, including boiling the noodles in a large pot and offering to reheat the soup, is truly impressive. Thank you for the meal! It's incredibly popular, having been awarded one of the top 100 ramen restaurants for eight consecutive years! The tsukemen menu changes daily as follows: Monday & Tuesday: Medium-thick Shio Ramen & Medium-thick Shio Tsukemen Wednesday & Thursday: Rich Shio Tsukemen Friday, Saturday & Sunday: Regular Tsukemen A regular serving of noodles is 200g. This can be increased to 600g for an additional fee. This is the weight before boiling, so it will increase by about 1.5 times after boiling. For tsukemen, the noodles are extra thick, so even a regular serving is more than enough to fill you up! Also, for women and customers under elementary school age, we offer a free dessert in exchange for 50g less noodles! This helps reduce food waste, and you can also enjoy dessert—a win-win! The restaurant has a rotation system of four staff members, which is a bit unusual. If there are four or fewer people in line, purchase your ticket first and wait on a bench in front of the restaurant. If there are five or more people in line, staff will guide you through the process of purchasing your ticket and waiting. For reference, I arrived around 11:50 AM on a weekday and was joined by seven people. I was able to enter the restaurant about 25 minutes later, and it took another 10 minutes for my bowl to arrive. During busy periods, it may take more than 30 minutes for your bowl to arrive, so please allow yourself plenty of time. Chūka Soba Ginza Hachigo is a popular ramen spot in Tokyo, known for its unique take on the classic dish. Unlike other ramen joints, Chūka Soba Ginza Hachigo doesn't use tare in their broth seasoning, setting them apart from the rest. The restaurant offers timed and ticketed dining slots at a 6-seat counter, providing an intimate and exclusive experience for diners.
Michelin recommended and for a reason. I waited two hours because I was without reservation. So better book it. The calm, only 6 seats, the art of managing such a wonderful place. The softness of the meat, the broth, so wonderful. And the cook made a personal note to appreciate my two hours waiting. Memorable

The famous foie gras & truffle ravioli was very interesting and different. It's definitely a unique culinary experience you should try at least once. The ambiance is very cozy and clean. It felt very inviting and it smelled amazing as soon as you walk in. Everything was meticulously arranged like delicate art from the table settings to the ramen itself with ravioli, chashu, and perfectly soft boiled egg carefully placed within the bowl. With only 6 seats, closed on Mondays and sometime Tuesdays, there's a few things you need to know if you want to go. Check IG to ensure they are open when you want to go. Reservations open on Saturday at 9am for that upcoming week online at Table Check for a small service fee. I suggest you book an early slot because if they sell out of the ravioli, they sell out. If you can't get a reservation but have time to.spare, get there by 9am to line up outside before they open. Sometimes they will start food service at 10:30am (11am is the posted time). Once they've filled up the slots, they will put a sign out to say they aren't taking any more walk-ins. Each person has 30min to eat (took me only 20min). Please be mindful of those waiting outside and so the restaurant can stay on schedule with its reservations. They will take your order while you're outside and you go in to pay and then back in line until they are ready to seat you. This is a Michelin recommended restaurant for a reason (and used to have a Michelin star until Michelin removed all ramen restaurants from its list in 2024). You won't be disappointed. Not only is the food good, the chef and the hostess are so welcoming and friendly. Such wonderful and warm treatment made the experience that much better.

After trying for three years, I finally managed to secure a reservation at Ginza Hachigou, and it was well worth the wait. The restaurant offers an intimate dining experience with only six seats, where the chefs prepare and cook directly in front of you. This creates a warm and engaging atmosphere that perfectly complements the attention to detail in every aspect of the meal. The ramen broth was exceptional, rich, balanced, and deeply flavoursome, offering warmth and comfort with every bite. The use of a ravioli within the dish was truly unique and added a refined depth that elevated the overall experience. I would highly recommend.

I’m so happy we were able to get a reservation at Ginza Hachigou during our time in Tokyo. I had tried before we departed for our trip and the website crashed but was lucky enough to sneak us in for the second week we were there. Be prepared to move fast when you’re booking, it is seriously in high demand! We got the last spot at 3:30 on a Friday, unfortunately they were out of the famous ravioli but it honestly didn’t matter. Hands down the best ramen I will ever have in my life. It’s such an enjoyable experience watching the chefs prepare it fresh right in front of you. It’s an intimate 6 person seating, so you can really just sit back and enjoy a master at work in a peaceful setting. As I said the ramen itself is incredible, flavorful broth, delicious pork, and perfectly cooked noodles. I would eat 2 bowls if I had the option. We also got a side of their pork rice with horseradish and onion, and it was fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough as a stop during your time in Tokyo, this was a highlight of our trip and I’m so glad we finished here on a high note.

Getting a spot: A reservation is practically required, which costs a fee of 500 yen. The reservation opens on Saturday so make sure you take that into consideration The place: If you can manage a reservation you are in for an amazing ramen experience. The restaurant is small but has a very clean an minimalistic vibe to it. The service is amazing and watching the master cooking in front of you is very interesting. There are only a hand full of seats which makes the experience feel exclusive. The food: I had the recommended ramen, which I would also recommend because of the absolutely amazing truffle ravioli. It costs 2200 yen, which is reasonable for the quality of food you are getting. Overall the food was great, I am not an expert by any means but I could taste the quality of the ingredients. I can say with confidence that it was the one of the best bowls of ramen I have ever had. Overall if you want a more exclusive ramen experience in Tokyo without spending too much money, it is 100% worth a visit.

The inviting retro ambiance adds to its charm, making it a cozy spot to enjoy your meal.
The curry bun ran out because they sell out early but we dined in and had the burger curry with level 3 spice. It was very good, actually spicy, and unique in flavour. Would recommend!

Decent tasty soup curry but not nearly as good as their original shops in Sapporo. The soup is a bit too watery, and the amount of vegetables ain't much either. If you simply want to try soup curry, it is not a bad joint and there aren't that many in Tokyo. But if however you miss the rich flavorful satisfying stuff from sapporo, be prepared for a minor disappointment.

(Translated by Google) The first thing they ask is, "Are you allergic to shrimp?" I chose the 1,400 yen weekday lunch. It comes with a whole chicken 🍗 and plenty of fried vegetables. I ordered medium spicy. You can choose the level of spiciness. I wish I had ordered hot. If you like spicy food, I recommend that option. You can also choose the amount of rice. The soup is full of shrimp extract and umami, and the gentle flavor and spiciness permeate the meat. It warms the body, too. I'll definitely come back with a different menu item. The rice is 200g 🍋 and toppings are free. I'm so happy to be able to eat this in Tokyo. Thank you 🙏 In Tokyo, not Sapporo ♡ My son had just visited this restaurant after a trip to Hokkaido, so he recommended it to me and showed me around. Yellow Company Ebisu is a modern and spacious soup curry restaurant located near Ebisu. The menu offers options like beef stew curry, chicken, bacon and cabbage, and vegetable curry. Diners can choose between tomato or shrimp stock with an additional charge for the latter, as well as select their preferred spiciness level. Yebisu beer is available on tap to complement the meal. The restaurant also features a manga and magazine library, creating a cool ambiance for guests to enjoy their meal.
The soup Curry was really tasty, and even if you order one with meat, it comes with lots of vegetables. Soup Curry originated from Hokkaido, and it definitely warms you up on a cold night.

Cosy little restaurant. Manga is available to read for free by the entrance. There was no queue when we went at around 1 pm during a public holiday. Shop was still busy, though. When picking your curry, you basically pick the meat, any extras, rice portion size, and spicy level. We picked spicy level 3, and I couldn't taste any spiciness at all. My partner said he could feel a very slight tingle, but it was basically not spicy. we got the beef curry and the pork curry. Both were nice and came with a selection of vegetables. The curry was soup style, so it was nice to drink - tastes like a light version of a japanese curry. Overall, it was nice, but it wasn't that special, but it's still very nice and something to try if you fancy some light curry option.

Tasty curry soup with several varieties and spice levels to choose from. The food was well-prepared, and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming. They even had some manga to read while waiting, which was a nice touch. Would happily come back!

Spacious, modernly designed soup curry place just off Ebisu. You need to choose from tomato or shrimp stock (+150 yen for shrimp), and spiciness level (1-10, over 5 is a surcharge). The menu includes beef stew curry, chicken, bacon and cabbage or vegetable curry, among others. There's also Yebisu beer on tap. The place has a nice manga and magazine library as well and the ambience is cool. The soup curry itself is pretty standard, more "soupy" than others, but not bad.

Very filling hearty meal. The sausages are a great add-on to most items on the menu. The saffron rice has a good fragrance and compliments the curry well

The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is a unique destination that offers a nostalgic experience of old Japan and the world of ramen. It features a traditional street food court with shops offering samples of ramen dishes from different regions, allowing visitors to taste and learn about the history of this beloved dish. The museum also has a theatre where performances about the history of ramen noodles are showcased.
I first visited in April on my own and promised myself I’d bring the kids here during our family trip to Japan. The kids finally got to visit this August, but we came during Japan’s holiday season, unfortunately, it was extremely crowded, with long lines in a small space. It was hard to enjoy everything, and we couldn’t try other spots because of the wait times. Still, the staff managed the crowd quite well. A nice bonus is that you can buy instant ramen packs to take home and recreate your own ramen bowl.
Bonnie C — Google review
TLDR: good for tasting different ramen bowls downstairs in small sizes but wish the museum had a bit more substance We definitely enjoyed a few bowls of ramen downstairs. I enjoyed the cappuccino tonkotsu ramen at stall 8 and the shoyu/tonkotsu at stall 4. I also liked that they let you get a small size for 680 yen instead of a full size so you can try multiple. However I wish the museum had a bit more substance. The gift shop is bigger than the actual museum itself. Overall a good experience still
Wilson T — Google review
For an experience this is a good place, but not exactly a museum. Entrance fee for an adult is 450yen. Inside, if you pay another 5000 with a reservation you can make ramen noodle on your own.( making the dough i guess) the 1F has a few walls with history of ramen and evolution of ramen in Japan. Also there’s a souvenir shop. In B1 and B2 there are retro type ramen shop which gives the vibe of old japan ramen alleys. Here you may choose a ramen shop to dine and you have to line up between 30~1hour depending on the popularity of the shop. And agin after paying you can enjoy your ramen. So the entrance fee is kind of exaggerated because it is not exactly a “museum”. As an overall it was a nice experience and ramen was good.

This is a must visit when you're in Yokohama. Ramen is a Japan special and the history and tradition are displayed here. Bonus is that there is a ramen food court at the basement floors recreating the magic and decor of ancient times. We chose to go to Rairaiken, the historic first ramen restaurant of Tokyo opening in 1920. It subsequently closed in 1976. Fortunately Rairaiken started again in 2020 at this museum carefully reproducing the old recipe and magic. This was our first introduction to Ramen in Japan. And we chose a small bowl with Char Siu. I must say we were sweeped off our feet. The soy broth was light and so flavorful, noodles are soft and the Char Siu firm and succulent. I was craving for another bowl! Now I know why Ramen is legendary in Japan. Not to mention the ultimate cleanliness and meticulous attention to everything!
Amit C — Google review
The history of ramen in Japan was interesting but the highlight was the ramen food mall in the basement. With the help of a young Japanese woman we queued up for about half an hour to order at our chosen restaurant. The wait was definitely worth it. One of the best konkatsu ramens I’ve ever eaten. Midweek would probably have been five stars.
David P — Google review
Lovely Museum with very tasty ramen and a lot of Info on the history of ramen. A little unfortunate that you can't just order one ramen for the whole group and sit down in the restaurants. Everybody in the group needs to order at least one ramen bowl which can get expensive quick. Other than that I liked it here very much! Will come again to taste the rest!

Beautiful underground food court with many delicious options. Definitely worth the wait for the longer lines also highly recommend the dipping noodle restaurant on B1 floor. I recommend going with the small size bowls if you plan on hitting multiple stations as well as not finishing the broth.

Initially we were going to the cup noodles Museum in Yokohama but, after reading about and visiting this one, I think we made the best choice. Fūunji is a bustling ramen shop known for serving some of the best tsukemen, or dipping noodles, in the world. The creamy blend of chicken soup and fish powder creates a thick, gravy-like texture that perfectly coats each bite of ramen. Chef and owner Miyake-san continues to impress patrons with his culinary skills at this hole-in-the-wall establishment.
This was one of my favorite meals in Japan. No frills, quick service, simple menu — but jam packed full of flavor — all for such a reasonable price. I got there around 11:05am, right after it opened (on a Thursday), and there was already a line. I debated whether to wait but felt encouraged when I saw tons of locals coming on their lunch break and they seemed undeterred (albeit a little disappointed that the tourists have found their spot). Worth the visit — and the wait!
Minhee C — Google review
Honestly amazing, and 100% worth a visit! I went pretty early, the queue formed about 15-20 minutes before opening. So highly recommend doing the same so you can grab a spot immediately when it opens. It's all counter seats, you buy a ticket of what meal you want when you enter - the machine takes both card and cash. I ordered their signature tsukemen, the noodles were thick, chewy and delicious. It's a decent portion, so only order extra noodles if you're really hungry. The broth itself is thick, full of flavour with chunks of meat and egg within. It's salty and everything you want and didn't know you needed in a tsukemen.
Lindy L — Google review
We accidentaly came to this popular ramen shop. But to our taste buds, it is not good and broth too salty. We don't mind about about the atmosphere, it is small and giving authentic Japanese ramen bar vibes which is good. The service was also okay, there were about 3-4 staff when were there and they seem nice but always on a rush. We came when they just opened and we didn't know it was popular, there were already a line after 15 minutes. There are ony 4 items in the menu, 2 traditional ramen and 2 Tsukumen (dipping noodles). There are 4 of us in the family and each got a ramen and none of us finished! We didn't liked it, as it was too salty. Maybe it is different on some other days? maybe it was the ambiance that made it popular? There are alot of ramen shops around Tokyo, maybe some are not so good, but definitely not too salty.
John G — Google review
The best ramen I had during our family's trip in Tokyo. Their noodles had the right firmness and it was not too thick nor thin. The broth it came with was rich and tasty but not overpowering. You have and option to have your order in medium or large which is good for people who eat a lot or less. Once you finish the noodles, you can pour hot water on the leftover broth making it a soup, making it a perfect ending to your meal.
Miguel M — Google review
CASH ONLY | 2 KINDS OF RAMEN | RICH FLAVOR You enter this quite narrow street and you will see this ramen place. You will enter and go to the machine to get your style of ramen. It appears the broth is the same for the ramen and broth in the dipping noodles. Then you will fall in line to get seated. When we visited around 5:30pm it’s filled and waited for like 20mins. We spent 25,000 yen for two orders of ramen and some few extra sides. This place offers traditional ramen and dipping noodles ramen. The broth was so rich and the noodles for ramen is mid thin and their dipping noodles has the thick noodles. The broth maybe quite salty for some and thick and so they offer hot water so you can adjust in a way. The place was good and plus the kind of show where you can see how they prepare it in front of you.
Jei F — Google review
Amazing place! Went there twice in my japan trip. They have 2 dishes, noodles and ramen. Both are super rich in flavor and you have the option to choose medium and large portions (for the same price). You may have to queue for 15-20 minutes but it is definitly worth the wait!

Ramen Nagi - Shinjuku Golden-gai Honkan is a small noodle restaurant located on the second floor of an old wooden house in the vibrant Golden Gai neighborhood. The atmosphere here is authentic and the smell of their speciality, pungent niboshi ramen, greets you as soon as you enter. The broth for this unique ramen is made by boiling dried sardines for 12 hours, resulting in a bold and distinctive flavor.
Despite querying for a while to get in and it started raining I enjoyed my visit. Now Im not a Ramen expert but I thought it was flavorful and the meat melted in your mouth. The guy in the queue beside me warned me that its a different tasting Ramen to others due to the broth. I opted for the combination spicy and it was great. You queue up the side of the building up a narrow alley and when the light goes off youre free to go up the bright red stairs. Choose your menu option whilst queuing as when you get upstairs you need to order via a machine on the wall and pre pay. There are only around 10 seats so its cosy but food comes quickly.

Coming from a very different culture, it’s hard for me to fully judge, but I truly believe this is an experience worth having. We tried the special ramen, full of flavour 🐟. What really stood out was the long line outside, mostly locals, which already said a lot about the quality of the place. Visiting this kind of traditional spot is a must in Tokyo, especially in such a unique and vibrant bar district. A very special experience.
Josefina R — Google review
This is a unique ramen shop. You need to know this is very Niboahi forward flavor and it was super good. Noodle was also unique with very which was thick and cooked perfectly. If you are looking for more classic one, this is not it. But if you have eaten a lot of ramen already and looking for something different, this maybe for you! Yes. It is a small place but this adds to the character.

What an amazing bowl of ramen! There were many components that came together to pack a punch of delicious flavor. The spice is not too spicy. Loved the 2 types of noodles. Although it’s a sardine broth, it’s not overpowering and it is totally worth trying even if you aren’t typically used to eating fish broth. Nice atmosphere and service. Would definitely go back!
Justin N — Google review
We went for lunch in this lovely small place, with only eight counters but full of character. You can get a bowl of ramen for ¥1,350 for a small portion or ¥1,900 for a large one. The noodles are freshly made and absolutely delicious, and the broth is rich and full of flavour. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and there wasn’t much of a wait at all either to get seated or for the food. You can either pay by card or cash and you don’t really need to book, just walk in. It’s a place I’d definitely recommend and one I’d love to visit again next time I’m in Tokyo.
Federica T — Google review
If you find yourself in the Golden Gai at any hour of the day, you can rest assured that this small, historic ramen shop will be running 24x7. The line moves quickly despite the extremely small seating area and the small staircase up to the kitchen/dining bar is both steep and narrow. But it's an adventure no matter what. Go for the experience - the food may not be as memorable (the noodles are good and while Nibosji Ramen is known for an anchovy-based broth (and it was good), the broth was also loaded with pieces of pork so if that's a thing for you, be aware that pork should be assumed in any Ramen joint that looks and operates like this in Japan). If these walls could talk, they could certainly tell a few stories, too. Greasy, tiny, a relic from the past, and worth a late night slurp ...
Suzanne F — Google review
I’ve never had ramen like this EVER and I mean that in the best way. The soup base was incredibly tasty! If you’re looking for a traditional bowl of ramen, I would say this isn’t the place, but if you want something delicious and a little different, this is for you. Would totally go back again! Also, the best part is that it’s 24hrs so when you’re after a late night comfort craving, this is the spot. We did have to wait in line for a while since it’s so small inside, but I must admit, it was worth it. Once we got in, our food came super fast. Also, I must make note of the staircase… it is pretty steep, so just keep that in mind as well.

Ramen Nagi is the kind of spot where I half expected to see the ghost of Anthony Bourdain pull up a stool, it has that perfect mix of soul, grit, and authenticity he would’ve loved. Small and quaint, but the experience matches the food: rich, bold, and unforgettable. A true Tokyo gem.

Karashibi Miso Ramen Kikanbō Kanda Honten offers a full sensory experience with its intense, numbing spiciness and original miso formula. The walls are adorned with Japanese demon faces, setting the tone for the fiery dishes. Located in Akihabara, it's a popular choice among students for its delicious miso-based ramen. Despite the long lines and cash-only policy, the fresh ramen and flavorful pork belly make it worth the wait.
So this is the best ramen I’ve ever had in my life. Amazing experience, I have been looking for something similar back in the states with no success. The richness of the broth in the ramen was amazing, I literally want to travel back to Japan just to have this ramen. The service and place could be better. Maybe bigger and have a more a la carte service, but I understand it’s a Japanese thing. Cash only, and everyone that gets in the restaurant needs to order one ramen to be able to sit in, no sharing or accompanying someone. Place is small, and the experience feels a bit rushed. But is definitely worth it.
Isaac M — Google review
Great taste, most tender pork I’ve had and huge portions, one of my highest recommendations for a spicy ramen. The spices were on point and you can choose levels for both hot and cold spices separately. Beware of the long queue time during peak hours but it’ll be worth it!
Yathartha G — Google review
One of the best ramen places in Tokyo if you love spicy ramen! The broth is rich in flavor. You can customize the amount of spiciness/numbness for your own ramen. I would recommend medium level for both for a good balance of spice and broth flavors, but if you don’t like the numbing sensation then you should try at least light for that. I love the choice of thicker noodles and also the texture and taste of the their thick cut chashu - a perfect blend of fatty and lean meat. The soft boiled eggs are perfect too! Be sure to get there a bit earlier or during off hours as there might be a line.
Matthew C — Google review
I ordered the medium level spice just to be on the safe side and it wasn’t as spicy as I thought it was going to be. And I like spicy food. Also the soft boil egg was cold even though I gave it time to soak in the broth to warm up. Other than that the ramen was still good.
K — Google review
The miso ramen I had was super good. The noodles were chewy and great. The food arrived fast and yes, you can choose after ordering (at the machine) the spicy level and the numbness level. I chose the medium for the spicy and no numbness and it was quite spicy. What was tricky and confusing was the line to get into the restaurant. It was divided into 5 lines. One for ordering at the machine and the other 4 for waiting. It was split up (I guess) to not block anything but it took us quite some time to understand what to do. Also good to know, we arrived around 9pm and waited around an hour on a Saturday evening. Nonetheless, food really good!
Dana S — Google review
It’s less spicy than you think, so I’d recommend ordering one spice level up (i ordered medium spicy and it wasn’t that spicy). The line can be long, so I probably wouldn’t wait for more than 15 minutes for this. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is really cool though. You get to see the staff in action amidst some intense background music.
Hans H — Google review
The way this restaurant/shop is handling the queue outside is kinda weird/confusing, as of the time of this Review the line outside is splitted in 4 parts, there is no sheet of paper outside and the worker there doesn't really speak english. Apart from that - brillant Ramen, the broth is thick, rich in flavour, yet very easy to eat, the meat in the Ramen (not sure if it's called Kakuni here) was extremely tasty. I would rate it a 4.6. Went here on a weekday night, the queue was super long and we waited for more than 30 mins. It was worth the wait as the ramen was super good and unlike any other ramen I have ever had. Super rich and flavourful broth and the chashu was amazing. They only accept cash so remember to bring cash.

It is all about the food. Fuss free. Amazing food quality and taste. Its an eat and you go place. Do not expect anything else. Again, its all about their udon. Hot or Cold. Standing counters only. Cashless payment recently to the latest options.

Good food nice simple flavour and the tempura batter is light and yum. We went as a family of 4 and ordered 2 large with extra tempura - apparently it is 1 bowl of udon per person but that isn’t stated anywhere. Once we ordered someone from the kitchen shouted across the restaurant that that was the case - after a 2 min explanation that we couldn’t possibly finish more food than we ordered the allowed us to proceed into the restaurant. While the udon was good, service can definitely be improved and a simple sign hung to avoid tainting the experience of otherwise authentic udon.

A perfect hole in the wall for finding fast, late night udon. Lots of cold options, fewer hot options, fairly basic menu. I know this because they have an electronic tablet menu that is easy to use and available in English, which was very helpful for me. They also offer payment via credit card tap. This place is fast, no frills, and hits the spot for < ¥1000. This is not gourmet excellence. It’s the right kind of grubby. This is Blade Runner vibes when it’s pouring outside.

Love this little hole in the wall shop, it’s standing only and will allow about 10 people at a time to eat. I went back in 2019 and finally made it back in 2024 and it was as good as I remembered. You order from a ticket machine outside which in 2019 was strictly in Japanese but now they have an electronic one with English! Prices are so reasonable and the udon is delicious, the broth, the tempura chicken is juicy. Can’t wait for my next visit to come again

WOW! A pleasant surprise and adventure of the palette. Never really been a fan of udon or even a cold one but, my god, this is so damn good! A no fuss unassuming eatery that is patronized by many salarymen. It's so affordable that I ordered a large portion and didn't even hit the 1k yen mark. Tried the hot soup noodle as well and I can say that the cold one is better but the hot is pretty much a preference during cold weather days

Soranoiro is a popular ramen shop in Japan, with five branches in Tokyo and one in Nagoya. The main branch at Kojimachi, Tokyo, offers Vegan Veggie Ramen made without any animal ingredients. They also serve regular ramen and gluten-free options. The vegan ramen features a rich carrot/paprika broth and is topped with fresh seasonal vegetables.
One of the few good ramen stores in Tokyo that offer vegan options/halal. Because the shop is located near Hanzomon the prices are obviously a bit on the higher end but they offer distinct flavors that stand out from other stores in Japan. Had the tsukemen with upgraded noodles. The meat toppings have a subtle flavor and the broth had a nice kick. The noodles had an interesting texture (in a good way) and the flavor profiles were savory.
Yoon S — Google review
Excellent glutenfree Ramen. Felt super fresh and light, great natural flavors. You can add some protein in form of an egg or chicken. The standard gf Ramen they offer is vegan. Quick and friendly service. We would absolutely come back!
Lydia C — Google review
There's a very interesting story about me and this restaurant. I moved here almost one year ago, and as a gluten sensitive person, I was trying to find places, restaurants and cafes, that had GF options. Of course Soranoiro was one of the first reccomended restaurants, but because it's located in Hanzomon, an area where basically only salaryman gather, I never really had any reason to go, and I kept postponing, again and again, until I forgot. Flash forward to May, nine months later I'm working in Hanzomon, only for a short while, and I'm trying to find a restaurant who has at least one rice based meal option. Suddenly I notice that Soranoiro is just one minute away from my workplace! Life is really unexpected right? I wonder what is karma trying to tell me ahaha Anyway, the vegetarian ramen was great, and it's really easy to customise each order with gluten free noodles, I personally really reccomend Soranoiro to everyone, people that enjoy ramen and people that want to try new flavours such as vegetables ramen. The overall vibe is pretty chill too, and I really liked their background music. Just note it down that the only accept cashless payments~

I thought I was ordering the veggie plate, and confirmed with the staff member who was assisting with placing orders at the machine. But, ended up being an Okinawan pork soba. The vegan ramen and chicken ramen looked good, so disappointed those weren’t available today, and that I ended up ordering something I don’t eat. Oh well.

This is the best gluten-free ramen I've had so far. The place is lovely and traditional. I 100% recommend it.

Great vegan Ramen with a separately made vegan creamy broth. The serving was quick, the staff friendly and it definitely was the best Ramen in our whole 3weeks stay in Japan. I Absolute recommend this one!

This was maybe my favorite noodle place I visited while in Tokyo. The food is so delicious and I wish I could have visited a second time, absolutely loved it.

Beautiful gluten free ramen. The cook even went out of his way to show me how to order the meal properly. The broth was delicious, brown rice noodles are to die for and the toppings looked and tasted fresh.

Ramen restaurant
Menya Itto, established in 2010, has quickly become a top destination for delectable ramen and tsukemen in Tokyo. The Seafood Tsukemen is the star of the menu, featuring house-made chewy noodles and a flavorful seafood broth. With an average cost of around 1,000 Yen per person, visitors can indulge in a satisfying noodle experience at Menya Itto.
I've had my share of tsukemen in Tokyo, but after visiting Menya Itto, I can confidently say that this is definitely the best tsukemen I've ever had. Gone are the days of painfully-long lines if you would just make a quick and easy reservation. Based on my experience the hype is over and it is quite easy to find availability on the reservation site. When I visited there was a short line of people waiting, but thanks to my reservation I was able to walk right in and order. I noticed that the wait is longer than most tsukemen places, and I do believe they're aware of this enough that there are signs advising customers that there will be a bit of a wait. But what arrived was WELL WORTH it. The soup base was rich and flavorful as one would expect, and the noodles were perfectly chewy (personally I would describe them very nearly al dente), but the highlight for me was the chashu. The three pieces were all prepared differently and all had different flavors and textures. My favorite piece almost reminds me of smoked iberico ham. On my way out, the line was much longer than pictured. Although the location is far from most tourist areas, it is easily reached from Akihabara without needing to change trains and it is a very short walk from the station. There is nothing else to do nearby so it would be a trip just for this place, but again, I'd say it's WELL WORTH it especially if you made reservations online.

Reservations are recommended here. The outside of the shop is divided into two lines: Line A for those with reservations or pre-purchased meal tickets, and Line B for walk-ins. Staff will guide walk-ins to purchase tickets from a machine inside when a seat becomes available. Despite having no reservation on a Thursday at 11:30 AM, I was seated in about 20-25 minutes, and the wait was tolerable as the restaurant provides seats for waiting patrons. The shop contains about 10 counter seats, and when it's busy, there's a 20-minute limit per customer. Their flagship tsukemen is the fish and chicken, which is a thick, rich, and creamy broth with a mild sweetness and a strong savory flavor. The noodles are served al dente and chilled, while the dipping broth is served piping hot, ensuring they combine at the perfect temperature. The price starts at **JPY 1090** for the regular size, with extra costs for add-ins. I also ordered the Special Lobster Broth set for JPY 1980. I personally would have ordered the large size of noodles to fully enjoy the various flavors offered in this set. Since the instructions are in Japanese, here is a paraphrased translation of the five steps: 1. First, taste the plain noodles in the konbu (seaweed) broth. 2. Next, sprinkle the pepper from the spoon onto the noodles and try them again. 3. Pour the tomatoes and toppings from the white porcelain spoon over the noodles to enjoy an Italian-inspired flavor. 4. Finally, dip the noodles into the lobster bisque broth. Add the fried onions as desired for a more concentrated flavor. 5. After finishing the noodles, add the provided rice and cheese to the remaining broth. Pass the bowl to the kitchen staff to have it baked in the oven, creating a small risotto to finish the meal.

B- [it's aight / 還可以] · famous ramen thats overhyped + not worth getting premium · Google Maps said open at 6 pm but people were already going inside at 5:55 pm (was shocked cause isnt japan all about punctual?) · ramen vending machine micromanaged by a server with bad attitude (felt pressured to order fast as a first timer) · light shio ramen tasted just average (saw everyone getting the tsukemen here so thats probably the best ramen) · chicken slice was the highlight (perfectly cooked + tender) · pork chasu had too strong gamey taste that ruined my appetite · their sous vide duck meat was not for me (looked better than it tasted + nonstop chewy) · apparently dessert service was for girls only...? (lychee sorbet) · their signature spicy sauce helped with enhancing the ramen's flavor tldr: their premium ramen was overhyped with an interesting dessert rule...?

Out of this world! The best tsukemen I have tried so far, and it really deserves the name "King of Tsukemen" in couple of years ago. For the first-time comer, I recommend you to order Rich Soy-Sauce with Fish Flavoured Soup Tsukemen (w/ 3 kinds of Char Siu) (チャーシュー濃厚魚介つけめん) with the size of normal 150g (並) or middle 250g (中) size, because the large size (大) is 400g. The smell inside the shop has a different level of deliciousness. I don't have much thing to say about the flavor because everything seems perfect and matching to each others. The soup is a balance of every flavor; saltiness, sweetness, sourness, umami. The thick noodle is super duper tender and spring-like at the same time, which is really enjoyable to chew, I wish the noodle does not run out when I was eating. There are 2 roasted chashu, 2 low-cooked chashu, and 2 low-cooked chicken for the toppings, and these are well-selected and cooked. It is a perfect match to the scrumptious soup. Personally, I like the low-cook one the most. Apart from the tsukemen, the shop has a very well-organized system. You go there, check the expected time that you could go in which is shown in front of the door, then buy the food ticket and come back at the specified time. You can even download the application of this restaurant and check the availability. For me, I arrived the shop at 18:10 and needed to wait for 40 minutes.
Panus S — Google review
Worth the trip. I ordered #10, rich broth with 3 kinds of meat. As shown in the menu pic, the light salt bowl is only available Wed, Fri and Sun, and the shoyu bowl is on Tue, Thu, Sat so plan accordingly. Super flavorful tonkotsu with strong fish flavors. I slurped every last bit of it. The rich broth is quite heavy, and left me feeling like I ate too much salt though, so you may need a couple hours to walk it off. I ate Ramen with light broth the last couple days, so it wasn't too bad to go heavier today. But I wouldn't be able to do this every day. I didn't like the darker braised pork as much. It was too chewy for me. But the chicken and white chashu were buttery soft and moist. Flawless. The man managing the door spoke basic English and was helpful. Line up on the right side to place your order at the ticket machine. Shove about 2000 yen worth of cash and click the number of each item and topping you want from the menu. You get a small ticket for each button you push and you give the stack of tickets to the door man. He'll give you another receipt with a number. A whiteboard outside tells you what time to come back. For us, we arrived at 11:25 and got a 11:55 time. We noticed that those who came at 11:45 were asked to come back at 12:45. So come at or before 11 AM for the shortest wait. Lunch is served only from 11-3. When you come back, you wait on the left side of the door. Each seating is about 15 minutes long. They wait for everyone to empty out and everyone from that time batch enters at the same time. Pretty efficient I think. You sit where the man tells you and the chefs will give you what you ordered without any other interaction necessary.

Very long waiting time. Queue to take a number and come back few hours later. Tried the signature tsukemen. The sauce is quite nice but the ramen is cold? It's so weird because the weather outside is already freezing cold but they still serve cold noodle. Would've taste much better if it's warm. There are several other ramen store nearby with much shorter waiting time and better quality.
Raymond W — Google review
Voted as the number 1 ramen store in Tokyo for two years! The place is not as crowded as Tsuta ramen and they have a very efficient queueing system. You purchase your ticket and they will tell you the time to come back. The noodle is cold and the soup/dipping sauce is hot. They are really delicious and the portion is huge. Great value for money since it's only 930(with egg) and it's very filling. Definitely recommend it! Great ramen!

A must-try if you love tsukemen! I’ve been to Tomita before (Japan’s highest rated tsukemen) and this is just as good in my opinion. It also has a more casual atmosphere and doesn’t require reservations like Tomita. We rolled up a few minutes after their opening time at 18:00 and we just had to wait a few minutes. The chashu was amazing and the broth didn’t feel overpowering in its fish taste, which I personally prefer! We also got a free ice cream which was a great refresher afterwards :)

Ramen restaurant
Ginza Kagari (Main Store) is a popular ramen restaurant in Tokyo, recognized by the Michelin guide as a Bib Gourmand establishment. The shop offers innovative and creative ramen dishes, with its signature being the rich and creamy chicken broth Tori Paitan Ramen. This unique soup is made using a large amount of domestic chicken bones and meat to bring out its full flavor.
There were a bit of a que when we arrived, we waited about 30minutes. Que system was good and service amazing. The chicken broth was out of this world, LOTS of flavour. So if you are looking for a lighter broth this is not for you. Bento box with wagyu was also amazing, clean and good flavour all around. General service was really good and cozy atmosphere.

Literally so good. I got the regular chicken truffle and it was delicious - maybe the best ramen I’ve ever had. Come here if you are a big soup or truffle person. Presentation was beautiful and the additions of the vegetables on top gave some different textures and flavors to the super creamy/rich broth. Chicken was very soft and they had real truffle flakes in the dish. Noodles were not incredibly special in my opinion but still good. Jammy egg was perfect but also adds to the richness (it’s a very rich dish!) worth the price in my opinion.

Really delicious soba. It was one od the most delicious food I had eaten in Japan. Simple, delicious and plain. They onlu make chicken. You pay and order first, then eat. Fast and smiling service. A very cozy and small food place.

Best ramen in Ginza area so far. This place is well worth a visit. Fair warning, it can be quite tricky to find, it's in a small alley between Sony-dori St and Namiki Dori St. It's easiest to find if you come from Kojunsha Dori St, where you can access it from a very small parking lot that has only a few parks spots and some bicycle parking. I got the Tsukemen, and my wife got the Shoyu Special ramen. Both were perfection. The Tsukemen broth is very light and flavorful, not overpowering or overly thick. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and did not stick together at all, which can be a problem with some Tsukemen. I only tried a few bites of the Shoyu, and they were divine. There will likely be a wait, but it moved very quickly and the staff was very helpful. Everything is extremely efficient to speed things along, but you also do not feel rushed. 10/10, highly recommend.

Ginza Kagari is a **well-known ramen spot** in Ginza, famous for its creamy **Toripaitan Soba**. The restaurant is **very popular**, which means it’s often **crowded and busy**. The staff are **efficient and organized**, ensuring that the line moves quickly, but this also contributes to a sense of **rushed dining**. The **seating is not very comfortable**, with limited space that makes it feel more like a quick stop than a leisurely meal. The **food itself was okay, but not outstanding**—the broth is rich and flavorful, but overall it didn’t quite live up to the hype we expected from a Michelin-recognized ramen spot. While it’s **worth visiting once** to try their signature ramen, the combination of **crowds, small seating, and only decent food** makes it difficult to recommend for repeat visits. It’s a **decent experience for first-timers**, but not one that stands out as truly exceptional in Tokyo’s competitive ramen scene.

The best ramen we have tried during our trip to Japan. It has a rich but mild taste, great flavour. It is a chicken ramen. The broth has a unique texture. Also toppings are great. We went here even twice and afterwards visited their other place at the airport. Be ready to wait in a queue. We went around 14-15 o’clock and during work day. There was still a queue. Even the restaurant does not have many seats, the queue is moving fast.
Marie M — Google review
Half hour wait, but overall I think it's worth it. Stick to the first option in the menu, the portion is good. They serve ramen, not only soba despite the name. Premium pricing as ramen goes but I'd pay for the quality of noodles and broth. May want to add in the condiments provided with each bowl but may withhold the grated ginger (unless you are absolutely fine with it). There are 2 lines, first one for payment and then join the queue to enter the restaurant. Entry is by an alleyway.
Peter N — Google review
Great ramen with rich chicken broth. The restaurant however seemed to be over commercialized and managed by non-locals now which kinda lost its atmosphere. The queue was managed very well and only had to wait 30mins after arrival at 11:30 The toppings were slightly tough and dry especially the sous vide chicken.

Rojiura Curry SAMURAI in Shimokitazawa is a popular spot known for its Sapporo-born soup curry. The restaurant offers a variety of soup options with Hokkaido vegetables and rice, all without any additives. Customers can customize their spice levels and choose from an array of toppings and side dishes. If the restaurant is full upon arrival, guests can join a waiting list and explore the vibrant neighborhood until they receive a call to be seated.
It is one of my favorite soup curry restaurants. The curry is made with at least 12 different vegetables and your choice of toppings such as fried chicken, stewed cubes, cheese, and other toppings that change on any given day. You can also choose the base soup and spiciness of the curry, so you can customize it to your liking. The volume of the curry is very satisfying. The staff is friendly and helpful, and you can enjoy your meal in a good mood.

We visited this curry restaurant without a reservation, and even with five of us we were able to get a table. It was my wife’s birthday, so we just wanted a nice dinner to celebrate. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The restaurant is a little out of the center on a quiet street — easy to miss if you’re not paying attention — but definitely worth finding!

The waiting system is self-service — you just check in and get a ticket automatically at the entrance. If you add their LINE account, you can monitor the queue and see which number is being called. They also display a notice when it’s your turn to enter. The food is delicious, perfect for cool or rainy weather. The curry portion is just right for me, and the vegetables are so fresh and tasty. Ordering is done through an iPad, and switching the language is super easy.

Randomly came across this restaurant while exploring the area. Loved it!!! The best curry with veggies I’ve had. Seasonal veggies and curry is so light and flavourful. Highly recommend this place. There was a little wait as it was busy, but you can register your phone number and then just come back, very easy!

The place is a little hidden on the side street, nicely lit outside. A bit pricey but totally worth it, highly reccomend for all soup-curry lovers who miss Hokkaido 😁 Menu is available in multiple language and customization is superb. Inside waiting area is super small though, but it is a minor thing.

Apparently this place doesnt sell your typical japanese curry rice, those thicker dark brown kind but this is from what I heard Hokkaido curry. I got the spicy level 6 and I loved it, just the right spice level for me. Me personally find too much vegetable is going on but I loved their fried chicken, its a must order imo. Their queue system is also easy for a gaijin like me to navigate so I would say everything is smooth. Do come and try.

Ramen restaurant
Tanaka Shōten is a popular ramen spot known for its delicious tonkotsu broth and thin noodles. The Negi Char Siu Ramen, featuring flavorful green onions and slightly salty char siu, is a favorite among visitors. Despite the long lines, the service is efficient, with orders taken while waiting in line and payment made at the register. The large establishment offers an English menu and ample seating.
Ramen Tanaka Shoten is a traditional Hakata Ramen place sort of off the beaten track in Adachi ward. While the company that owns this shop has other noodle places in more central locations in Tokyo, Tanaka Shoten is in a rather obscure residential neighborhood far from any train station and is only their tonkotsu ramen specialty restaurant. One can certainly smell the shop before one arrives at the door as the strong smell of cooking pork and bones permeates the air on the street. Despite its rather remote location, this is a popular restaurant and there was a pretty long line when we arrived a little before 8pm on a Japanese holiday evening. Despite the long line, we didn’t wait more than 30 minutes before we got a seat, and the atmosphere is very “Ramen” shop (the line grew exponentially however as we waited). To add to the rather “gruff” appearance of the restaurant and staff, the AC was broken so it compounded the smell of the pork and was almost unbearably hot. Despite this, we stayed as the suspense had built up, and we had to try this ramen. The pork is perfectly cooked, and the ramen broth is a very strong and hearty tonkotsu broth. Their signature bowl is chashu with negi on top, we opted to have two eggs added to each of our bowls, and ordered and extra side of chashu with negi which ended up being too much food. The menu is simple, there is no alcohol, and aside from extra chashu, rice, and adding eggs, there are no appetizers (gyoza etc). It is a traditionally pure tonkotsu ramen. Hopefully the location will keep away the tourist hoards, but either way this place is already popular with locals so if you decide to make the trek, be sure to get their early or expect to wait. Definitely one of the best Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens in Tokyo.
Jiro — Google review
Probably the most legit Hakata-style tonkotsu you can get in Tokyo. The broth is a rich, creamy pork bomb, but never too greasy or overpowering. Super-thin noodles done harigane are a must—snappy, wheaty, and perfect for soaking up that soup. I added the akaoni spice ball, melted it in a separate bowl, and mixed it in slowly. The heat builds in layers. Absolute genius. After my kaedama, I hit the soup with a touch of grated garlic and a dash of motodare to rebalance the flavor—perfect move to bring it back to life after the dilution. Getting here ain’t easy, and they’re only open for dinner. Usually a long line, but I lucked out on a Thursday night. Minimal wait. Bad access? Maybe. Worth the trip? Absolutely.
Sho Y — Google review
I came at 22:00 Saturday and as you can see in the picture it was super crowded. However, the rotation of the service is fast so I think you can get a seat in 20-30 minutes. I see groups of 2, 3 or 4 lining up, and some come with families. There are counter and tables to use. The taste is not bad, I’m not used to thin soup and chashu. Unfortunately the chashu ramen tasted more like bacon (it was thinly sliced) so I was disappointed. I think tonkotsu ramen should be good on its own, but personally it lacked salt. I can see why there are condiments on the table to help, but again I think good ramen comes from not adding anything.
Hollow S — Google review
Awesome hakata tonkotsu , by far better than others hakata shops in the Kanto area . When you are outside the shop and feel the smell of pork broth you already can tell that this is a delicious ramen , I loved it , unfortunately because I live in Yokohama I can not visit this shop often . Takana veggies were bit more spicy than other places , I liked it a lot.

In Tokyo's Adachi district, late-night ramen shops are like water in the desert. Guess what? They even got an English menu! And the taste is very good, they provide free water, but it is a pity that there are no other drinks (such as beer) options.

We love their noodle soup a lot because the taste, rich flavor pork bone soup, Thin noodles, roasted pork, green onion and sliced fungus. A great combination. They also have fresh garlic, spicy sauce for someone who loves spicy, usually during the winter we need to Waite for more than 30mins to get in to the shop. They only open at night time
Aki Y — Google review
Without question the tastiest tonkotsu outside fukuoka. I have been to Japan 4 times in 6 years always spend over 1 month & always my first bowl of ramen is here in Tanaka when I land and get sorted in hotel. The broth is beyond creamy and delicious, It packs so much flavor it needs nothing added to it such as white pepper or chilli oil. ( but if like me add some half way though ) Noodles are nice and fine so they oborsb the broth exceedingly well. And excellent decision to have small instead of thick noodles. The flavor is just so creamy and silky smooth. This is ideal for when the cold winter months hit and you crave ramen and would like something to warm you up and fill you belly. I would recommend the spice mince they also sell ( turns your ramen into like a spicy miso ) recommend it - 200¥ Please look no where else but Tanaka shoten. 10/10 ramen 🍜 10/10 service 10/10 - my personal favorite ramen in Japan
Ciarán B — Google review
My family has been coming here ever since I was a kid living in this neighborhood. Came to eat after more than a decade, the taste is still there. Not much to say about this place other than it has one of the greatest tonkotsu ramen. Every bite is filled with memories! I would definitely be a weekly customer if I lived closer.. the tonkotsu soup is just one of the best in the country, I think. I haven’t been able to find anyone else that makes the similar soup. The thick, rich soup just pairs perfectly with the thin menn. Looking forward to being back soon!

Ajanta is a renowned Indian restaurant in Tokyo, offering a wide range of authentic North and South Indian cuisine. It is known for its flavorful curries, samosas, and other Indian staples. The restaurant has been serving customers for over 30 years, maintaining the same high quality and taste in their flagship items such as keema, chicken curry, and mutton curry. They also offer delicious dosas and vegetarian options clearly marked on the menu.
The grilled chicken dish here is single-handedly the best chicken I’ve had in Tokyo. It was so perfectly juicy and also incredibly flavorful. I was floored, had to order another one after that. The only issue was… I had massive stomach problems after eating. Not sure if it was cause food was too spicy and I’m just too weak 😂 But the upstairs dining has great vibes.

There’s this old-school Indian restaurant in Tokyo that first opened back in 1957—basically one of the pioneers of Indian food in Japan. When I used to work nearby about 30 years ago, the place was actually open 24 hours. After those ridiculously late nights at the office, I’d sometimes end up here for curry before heading home. Tonight, my Indian colleague said he’s a big fan of the place, so I tagged along—my first visit in three decades. The mission for the night: Indian wine. We ordered a bit of everything—starters, mutton, chicken, even dessert—and paired it all with bottles of Sula Sauvignon Blanc and Grover red, both of which are pretty well-regarded internationally. The food here isn’t watered down for Japanese taste buds, so it’s properly spicy, which of course meant the wine kept flowing a little faster than usual.

Tsukemen Miyamoto is a popular spot in Tokyo known for its delicious tsukemen style ramen. The restaurant offers rich beef and seafood broths with homemade noodles to-go, making it a busy local institution. The dipping sauce, made from bone broth and fish, is particularly noteworthy. After finishing the noodles, diners can top up with bonito broth for a tasty soup to complete the meal.
For fishy tsukemen lovers, this is your place you want to visit. You can smell the vats of goodness churning away while you wait in line outside. Great thick soup with top tier noodles and toppings.

A few minutes walk away from the JR Kamata station, Miyamoto is well known among ramen enthusiasts for its thick and poignant niboshi (dried fish) sauce and soup. Went there before its opening hours on a weekday and as soon as it opened the shop was already full. Ordered its signature niboshi tsukemen; the thick tsuekemen sauce and chewy thick noodles are truly remarkable, but the charsius are a bit dry and somewhat lackluster. (For more, see Instagram: Gaga.bichon)

Oh my. This was introduced by my Japanese colleagues and by far one of the best ramens I have had in my life! And definitely the best tsukemen I have ever eaten. The broth had layers. LAYERs upon layers of complex umami. The noodles were thick but not tough and enabled the broth. The meats were very nicely done and tender. The ajitama was not the typical one but was brined so intensely that it caught me by surprise. This is a must try if you are in the area. A must try.
Aaron C — Google review
The noodles fall short of their reputation, lacking the depth one might expect. The broth carries a pronounced anchovy note, yet the subtle aromas of yuzu and green onion are lost within it. Moreover, the broth fails to cling to the noodles, leaving the overall experience somewhat unbalanced.
Sungmin L — Google review
One of the amazing tsukemen style ramen restaurant in Tokyo. Beautiful rich dipping sauce ( bone broth & fish) and after finishing the noodle you can then top up with bonito broth for a tasty soup too finished off your meal. Highly highly recommended. A must try for any ramen lover. Only negative is everything is in Japanese so a lot of deciphering on the ordering machine. Shop is quite small with only maybe around 8 seats. You order on the machine, then head out to the queue outside before they call you in to have your meal. Regardless of any short coming, it’s a must try for ramen lover. 10/10.

If you're interested in having tsukemen with a really strong dipping broth, you've come to the right place. The smell of dried sardines hits you before you even reach the shop. The service was excellent and it felt cosy as it's a really small restaurant with the kitchen right in front on the counters. The niboshi tsukemen brought me to umami town. It was packed with umami and it reminded me of asam laksa for some reason, which is a good thing. The thick noodles were chewy and complemented well with the broth. 5/5 will come back again.

Chewy noodles, and the souo actually clings to the noodles! The 4 slices of different meat you get with the 特製 (premium) tsukemen is quite good as well. All interesting in their own ways. The line is quite long though. Not recommended on a hot summer day.

If you're looking for a heavy, deep broth for tsukemen, Niboshi Tsukemen Miyamoto has got it. My friends and I lined up 50 min before opening and to my surprise, the shop opened up its doors for us 15 minutes early! We were allowed to sit in, wait, and watch as our tsukemen was being prepared. As your order is about to be served to you, don't bother trying to take the broth from the staff's hands, they'll tell you it's very hot and that another staff member will place the bowl of broth on the counter for you. I showed up having only eaten breakfast today and ordered チャマヨ丼(char siu mayo bowl) and their チャーシューつけめん (char siu tsukemen) with extra noodles (大盛り). The broth is very dark and so it is up to you to find out what tastes and notes are hidden inside. There's cuts of onion, bamboo, yuzu, as well as the Niboshi umami. The handmade noodles are nice and thick as well. The atmosphere is very intimate as you watch and listen to the process of your order being prepared sitting by 8-9 other customers. Get there early or wait it out- either way, Niboshi Tsukemen Miyamoto is a must for any tsukemen fan.

Ramen Yamaguchi is a cozy ramen shop conveniently located near Takadanobaba station. It has gained popularity among tourists and has been featured in the Michelin Guide recommendation list. The shop offers two main types of ramen: Tsuke Soba, their version of tsukemen, and Tori Soba, traditional shoyu ramen. The portion sizes are generous, with the dipping noodles easily serving 2-3 people.
Very delicious, must visit. Order the recommended menu to try everything. The egg is the best. Pork has special aroma when eat, very special. The bamboo shoots are to die for. Overall is super impress experience.

Soup is still good, but just tastes normal as others are becoming better and better. It’s been 1.5 years since my last visit. Before, it’s one of my favorite chicken shoyu/shio ramen. However, it didn’t grow much. I still like it, but doubt if it’s still one of the top chicken ramen in Tokyo. The noodles are cooked to a bit soft, and the soup lacks deeper layers of tastes… Good thing is the attitude of chefs is still amazing. Details such as how carefully they cool down and organize the ramen in the bowl prove it well.

We came around 5PM on weekends and waited around 20mins to get seats. The noodles were tasted pretty amazing. Soup was not heavy at all. The atmosphere was very nice as they were controlling the number of people stays in the store. Average adult male cost is around 2000円(A noodle set and single topping) ‼️Important reminders‼️ - the store does not accept cash payment. People needs to use credit cards and online payment to pre-order the foods at vending machine - if you are not coming alone, please queue together. (They do not accept representing. If you come as 3 people, please all standby in the queue) - if there’s no empty seat, staff will firstly call you in to pre-order foods at vending machine. Once you place the order, give the receipts to staff and return to the queue and waiting outside. Hope these helps :)

Cosy little shop, easy to get to. I had the house special and it did not disappoint. I'd taken a train and walked 1km to get here, would probably have walked double and lined up knowing what I know now, but Monday night it was nice and quiet, no wait. Clean, rich yet light broth in mouth texture. Noodles cooked as you'd expect, just perfect with a little chew. Generous meat servings, bamboo and wonderful whole egg. Staff were helpful while I worked out the self serve ticket machine. Do yourself a favor and stop in here. Subarashi!

Here you need to order from the wending machine. The place is small. All counter seat. They have 12 seats. We order salt and shoyu ramen. Both come with slice pork, egg, wantan and bamboo shoot. The broth is clear not that oily. Nothing special. It taste normal not wow. The wantan is not bad. Like the salt ramen.

This place was in the Michelin guide book 2015/2016 So my hopes were high for a delicate balance, and it delivered If you like a good balance of flavors, I do recommend this placez but if you're looking for a strong flavor, there are other places I would go to. Unlike most places that offer Tsukemen(dipping noodles) this place gives you the noodles in water, I'm assuming do the noodles don't clump together The soup was nice and well balanced, a different flavor than any other place I've been It also had wontons and a flavored egg(very nice deep red yolks) The noodles had a nice consistency, I'm also assuming made specifically for them I would recommend to people looking for a more high end ramen experience at a lower price.

I’m a ramen enthusiast and chose this place to have my first bowl in Japan. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed. The special chicken ramen (¥1480) is absolutely delicious: the noodles are outstanding and the broth is delicately balanced. The egg was perfect, the hallmark of a great ramen shop. Corteous service, easy to order, some English spoken.

Homemade Ramen 麦苗 is a cozy, small ramen spot with an open kitchen where traditional noodle soups are served. Despite the long wait times, the food is great and worth it according to visitors. The staff is courteous and kind, allowing last-minute entries into the queue. It's recommended to visit only if you have enough time to spare due to potential long waits. Additionally, note that taking photos of the kitchen area is not allowed.
Hands down one of the best bowls of ramen you can get in Tokyo. So many details here that set the bowl apart - all the meats were top notch and executed to perfection. The shoyu broth brought an end to end smile to my face as only the best bowls of ramen can do. Truly a place that warms the soul both through the noodles and hospitality, which is rare for ramen shops. Absolutely worth the trouble to get a seat.
Charles C — Google review
The queue system can be a little confusing (and maybe even intimidating) for first timer visiting this popular ramen spot. There was a note outside explaining that we should just wait outside until our number is called - but there’s no numbering system for those that reserved online. The chef just calls out the names of guest instead. Also, don’t be surprised if your booking time isn’t super precise. The time keeping is off so even when we reserved 2:15, we were only seated at 2:50. In between, no one comes out to tell you that you are not forgotten so all the tourist outside were sitting around wondering if we didn’t do something right. Food wise, the attention to detail was great. The food was delicious but the travel and the hassle to get to eat here really kills a lot of the enjoyment. For more details of the food, I have a blog post about it.
Ah R — Google review
Took an hour travel and wait but not even able to get a reservation. Because the system changed and the notice is not clear. Even local Japanese were misled by the system. So bad for your customers traveling all the way to queue. You should have at least the first 40 minutes open to in person visitors if you are transferring to online reservations. or you can come out and tell us to book the time-slot before 9 am, so we can try to make a booking and not wasting all our time. 8 people spent so much time to try your food and got kicked away. Should show more respect to your guests.

Shoyu Ramen: The broth is consistent from start to finish, with no strong chicken notes, offering a stable flavor. The chashu tastes like high-quality meat. It’s a pity the noodles don’t absorb the broth fully. The umami is excellent. Iriko Ramen: The anchovy flavor is extremely strong. The umami is good, but it’s not to my taste. I recommend sticking with the shoyu ramen.
Sungmin L — Google review
This is honestly one of the most amazing bowls of ramen I've ever had. Personally I was never a fan of shoyu broths as I prefer heavier broths. However this ramen changed my perception on how deep and umami shoyu broths can be. Although a lighter soup, the flavour was so good. I've added additional wagyu topping and it compliments the ramen very well. If you are ever in the area do give it a try. Do note that reservations start at 9am. You have to be early to get a timeslot that you desire, Especially if you want to eat at 11am as the earlier timeslots fills up fast. It has 8 seats per seating and each seating is 40minutes long. This main store is limited to 100 bowls per day.

I've been trying to go to all of the Michelin ramen restaurants and this is my new favorite of the bunch! (Nakiryu will always have a special place in my heart too.) The steak in the deluxe toppings is some of the best steak I've had in my life. Everything is delicious and so carefully prepared. They have a sign up sheet everyday, so you have to get there early.
Kelly N — Google review
The most delicious shoyu ramen I have had in my life! I recommend you to order 上醤油 (Joushouyu), which is a shoyu ramen with special toppings, because the toppings here are extraordinarily delicious. The bowl comes with 3 nori (dried seaweed), 2 pork chashu, 1 wagyu beef, shiso-flavoured chicken, pork wonton, and menma. The shoyu chicken-based soup is not too strong and refreshing, and most noticeably, it's very clear, indicating that the owner delicately controlled the temperature very well when extracting the umami out of chicken. The noodle (men) is a thin type and perfectly cooked. The toppings are extraordinary, especially the chashu, which they said to use 林SPF豚, a specially-breed of pig from Chiba prefecture. The chashe has a perfect fat and a heavenly flavor of roasting, which is so mellow and enhancing the bowl itself. Expect the long waiting (at least one hour) when visiting despite during COVID-19, I went the at 13:00 and got the reservation of the last queue at 14:15. There are only 8 seats inside, so the owners need to manage the queue by letting the customer write their name in a time slot and come back again when the time comes.
Panus S — Google review
We live quite near this ramen place, but since it always has a long queue, it took us a while to try it. They start giving out tickets for the first batch at 10:45AM, so many people were already lined up at about 10:20AM when we arrived. We were asked to go back at 12:45PM. We ordered 2 kinds of special ramen: niboshi (left) and shoyu (right). After all the anticipation and expectations, this place only gets 3 stars from me, because, uhm, well, it was overrated. We have tasted a lot of other better ramen joints than theirs and waiting in line for so long doesn’t do justice, haha! Their soup stocks were too salty. It would have been better if we ordered rice on the side, but they ran out of maguro gohan at that time. Also, the rules that they hand out while you wait in line had English translations BUT their ticket vending machine inside didn’t have English translations, so the foreigners who were next in line to us didn’t know which to order. (They were Filipinos and so I am, so I was able to help them though.) Anyhow, the owners were kind and polite and the shop was clean. However, maybe I wouldn’t spend an hour of waiting again just to eat shoyu ramen. But this is just me/us. Hee hee.

Ushio is a popular ramen spot that offers a refreshing change from the overwhelming variety of ramen choices. At this eatery, simplicity is key, as customers are presented with just two options: shiro (white) or kuro (black) ramen. The standout dish is the tori paitan soba, a creamy white chicken ramen that boasts flavors reminiscent of pasta carbonara. Visitors praise the creative and delicious toppings that complement both types of ramen.
One of the finest ramen's I had over my most recent trip to Japan. Got the white broth version and it really tasted like creamy chicken corn soup mixed with carbonara. Toppings were well matched and flavourful with slices of duck meat, pork, bacon wrapped asparagus, bacon bits, broccoli and a poached egg hidden under the slices of duck. Absolutely exquisite and was well balanced and not heavy at all. Arrived before opening time at 11am and got immediately seated after purchasing a ticket from the machine. Cash only.
Johnny C — Google review
The basic bowl comes with egg and a bacon-wrapped asparagus, the 極 bowl comes with additional meats! Add ¥100 for garlic butter. The 白湯 is quite interesting if you’re looking for a different kind of ramen as there are different toppings and the broth is very reminiscent of soupy carbonara. But you better not come here looking to talk with your friend. It’s very quiet, talking quite discouraged. Probably better to eat alone.
Karra L — Google review
Wow! I was genuinely impressed. My ramen was spectacular. An asparagus wrapped in pork, a poached egg that was cooked to perfection, 2 different cuts of flavorful sliced pork, a piece of broccoli that would soak up the broth for a decadent bite, and the noodles had a nice bite. The white broth was unique and so delicious that I couldn’t resist but to finish all of it. It felt apparent to me that they have put a lot of care into creating a special experience with their food. The atmosphere was serene, peaceful, and clean. The sound of bubbling water from the kitchen and music playing softly in the background was relaxing. Service from the chef was gentle and welcoming. I am already excited to come back in the future, especially when I want to treat myself. Thank you for the stellar meal.

Easygoing, relaxed atmosphere, with minimal noise. The ramen tastes so good, the egg is served perfectly cooked. The second-best ramen we had on Tokyo, and trust me we had a lot. The portions are big and the service friendly. Make sure to order first, the queue.

Authentic, cheap, flavorful and simply amazing. We ordered a white ramen and a black ramen. Size was very good, nice amount of noodles. It was heaven!!! Probably the best ramen I've ever had. Place has less than 15 seats, there was no queue, but people came, ate, and left quickly, so rotation was quite fast. Most customers were locals. This place is cash only and you order through the vending machine outside.

Good ramen, but only a small selection. Ordered the white ramen, which had sliced duck, pork, soft boiled egg and a bacon wrapped asparagus. The noodles were al dente. You can get a larger noodle portion for no extra charge. The duck had a nice flavor. The soup was not bad, but not particularly great either. Service was nice. Very small place. Cash only, buy tickets from the vending machine style. Overall, it was good but not worth going out of the way for.

Ramen Daishi is a popular ramen shop located in the Bunkyo-ku area of Tokyo, known for its compact venue and delicious soy sauce broth ramen. The shop has gained popularity among local office workers and ramen enthusiasts, even making it to the Tabelog top 100. Their old school Tokyo soy sauce ramen is simple yet attractive in flavor, often topped with wontons or slices of naruto fish cake.
There is a order machine at the entrance. Bar chairs, everyone sits quitely, minding their business. The two of us entering two evenings in a row, 15 minutes before the closing time. Service was relatively quick. Definitely would come back. Thank you for the meal.

The ramen arrived promptly, beautifully presented in a deep bowl. The soy sauce base was savory and robust, striking a harmonious balance between salty and umami flavors. It was neither overpowering nor too subtle, allowing each ingredient to shine through. The chashu pork was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of fat to add richness to each bite. The noodles were cooked to perfection, offering a satisfying chewiness that paired well with the broth😍

Japanese curry restaurant
Restaurant
Yoshida Curry is a beloved spot among local curry enthusiasts in Tokyo. Despite its small size and inconspicuous location, this compact eatery always draws a crowd eager to savor its traditional Japanese curries served with rice and various toppings. The menu features only one item: the 'Curry,' which is highly praised for its flavorful combination of ingredients.
The low ratings seem to be because the shop rules are a little strict, but they are simple and easy to follow: - wait to be called on the stairs - before opening, wait on the street - refill your own water, pick up and return your plate - don't use your phone while eating, no talking - only take pictures of the food The curry has very complex sweetness and spice, and the achar and the condiments that can be added bring additional layers of flavor. The pork is rib and belly meat braised like kakuni. I think the keema base might even have chocolate in it? The rice is whole grain and not typical Japanese white rice. One of my new favorites for curry in Tokyo. Bonus stars for all the Star Wars and Gundam collectibles inside.
JK A — Google review
My #1 favourite curry spot in all of Japan. I’ve had different combinations, sweet curry, spicy curry, with and without the “achar” sides. The keema is sweet, fragrant, and pairs perfectly with the egg yolk that it’s beautifully adorned with. The curry has a distinct flavour unlike any other curry I’ve had. You can taste banana in the curry in both spicy and sweet versions, something quite unique to Yoshida Curry in fact, and it works extremely well. The braised pork belly is fall-apart tender and not overly greasy at all. Yoshida-san uses a torch to char the top of the pork belly as well which adds some additional smoky depth to the meat. The “achar” sides rotate daily so check the owner’s Twitter for the day’s special sides. Every single side I’ve had here were delicious. My favourite would have to be the “ごぼうアチャーリ” (Burdock Root Achar). Highly recommend eating here if you’re in Tokyo and want something other than the standard Japanese curry you find everywhere. Keep in mind the owner is a bit strict about the place. You come here to enjoy the food and leave, no chit chat, no talking, no being loud etc. I can respect this and make sure you do as well. I was fortunate that nearly every time I’ve been here, there was no queue at all or just a minuscule one.
Alex M — Google review
Overall the curry is delicious. That said, long wait time to be seated. Unwritten rule is no talking while you eat. So wait in line, order your food, wait, eat, pay, and leave. Atmosphere is like that. If you don't like it, don't come.
Binh T — Google review
My favourite curry place! The place is quite quirky and I found pretty funny. The line up takes a while, so I recommend showing up early to line up. The curry is super delicious. Honestly can’t recommend this place enough!
Albion F — Google review
If you intend to go there for a curry that is more indian than Japanese, then go. The rice is strange , but can be gotten used to, There is meat (depending on what you order,) mounded on top of the rice using a mold, and the rice itself is molded onto a plate. You can find pictures online. The real star is the egg. The egg yolk is perfection. I would easily return for the egg. It's worth 5-stars, but the averge is brough down by the demeanor of the owner and lack of warmth overall. The lay out of the restaurant is one that allows on person to run the show. You order the food. You pick up the food. You take the plates back (together with your comanions) you pay one, single, bill. You don't talk loundly, if at all. You pay 100-500yen (per person who does) leave food on the plate. Pictures of anything but the food will result in you getting kicked out. There are a lot of bad roumors, but I won't spread hearsay, but to summarize: It's like going over to your mother-in-law's house to loan her money and you give it to her so she doesn't kick you out while you eat. Basically, anti-customer. The plating, to summarize what I saw earlier, is apparant artistic masterbation. I hope you all enjoy it mor than I did.

I have never enjoyed a miso ramen like this! They have taken miso ramen to the next level. We ordered a miso ramen with extra pork belly and a shrimp miso ramen. The noodles were very nice and thick for our liking. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The shrimp miso (thick white soup) was impressively rich and nicely flavoured. The pork belly had clear layers of fat and meat and the texture was great. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We will visit again for sure.

I took the maze soba (there is spicy version too) + extra fried garlic plate and it was really delicious and well served for the price. Ok it's very oily and so much quantity that i couldn't finish it but is was very satisfying. Only one little bad point but it's personal and due to my condition, near the end it was nauseating. Besides that the cooks was very cheerful and they make the change to buy the tickets on the vending machine. Also it appears on Michelin guide so it's a must, i recommend.

You have to prepare to wait in the queue. The red soup tasted very thick and rich because the spicy miso and thick fat. I cannot finish whole bowl due to the "PLATEAU" taste of the soup after I ate the ingredients. The ramen is thick, causing chewy and spring. I especially like the bean sprout they cook. It is thick and crispy and it's refreshing flavor helped me drink the spicy miso soup.

Ramenya Toy Box is a popular counter-serve restaurant located in the quiet neighborhood of Minowa. Despite its unassuming appearance, it has received high praise and recognition, including being recommended in Michelin's Bib Gourmand. The intimate dining experience with only 8 seats allows guests to witness the chef's mastery in preparing flavorful ramen centered around Aizu-bred chicken. Due to its popularity among locals, there may be a wait, so arriving early is advisable.
The ramen here is absolutely amazing! The soup was well balanced, fresh and chewy noodles, and the toppings gave a variety of flavors giving a different experience for each bite.

I loved their prime shio ramen it came with two pieces of chashu and two pieces of prime pork. They melted in my mouth. Also the noodles were just right. They were not the firm type but I liked it. It reminded me of traditional Taiwanese “oil noodles “. The soup flavor was just clear type which suited me very well. The staff would collect your ticket while still waiting. And I didn’t know so he graciously let me buy without having to wait from start. Only the sitting was a bit tight since I was sitting right at the corner.

People can be very picky about ramen. Especially to famous ones. *Better check X for open time. The ramen style here is clear chicken soup. Noodles are not that hard. That makes it an easy start to who is new to ramen. I visit the shop once a while and noticed a bit of good change in the flavor. The cooking spirit of chief is admirable. For one not so familiar with how to eat ramen in Japan. ⬇️ You join the queue line outside the shop. Buy tickets as your order in turns after the person in front of you and come back to the same place in queue. Wait for staff to introduce which seat you can take. Once the ramen served, focus on eating. Don’t stop for phone or chatting with friends. Chatting while eating is ok, just don’t occupy the seat too long. People tend to finish ramen super fast. This is one of the best ramen, hope you enjoy it.

Well-rounded soy-sauce-based-soup Ramen and the sliced pork topping was impressively flavorful. The noodles they use felt pretty unique and I really liked them. I wasn't impressed with the rice bowl dish, though.

I found their Ramen superb...this deserves it's Michelin spot. I ordered the Tokusei Shouyu bara ramen, which is their version of Shouyu ramen with generous servings of pork belly. The ramen noodles were firm, soup had a bold flavor, aji tamago was well seasoned too.

RAMEN GOTTSU is a small and cozy eatery that offers a unique dining experience. The ramen master, Gotou-san, dedicates himself to preparing the noodles, toppings, and soup broth from scratch each day. The restaurant serves top-notch tonkotsu gyokai double soup ramen with a delightful touch of yuzu. Despite its limited seating capacity, the friendly staff and attention to detail make it a must-visit spot for ramen enthusiasts.
top of the line tonkotsu gyokai double soup ramen! thicker than kissou but flavor was superb, the yuzu was a nice touch. noodles meats both no complaints. friendly staff too. not too crowded but all seats taken the one dec wed night i went.

For a double soup ramen restaurant, gottsu is probably the best I ever had. Service is wonderful but they don't have any English speakers so be careful when ordering! The char siu bowl was fantastic and the ramen was incredible!

Wonderful staff here that have deliciously ramen. No smoking. Did you know this is a Michelin Star ramen place? They are pretty efficient with table turnover, unless you come with a huge group. There is space for only about 9 or 10 people to eat at a time with a bench inside to sit if you’re waiting to be called up next. You purchase a ticket by the door, they take tens and coins, but if you only just have a 100 bill just kindly let them know and they will give you change. My kid ordered a kids set and she got cheesecake with her ramen. Son had the Gottsu Ramen, and he was satisfied. I had the standard ramen here, because I thought my kid wouldn’t eat all her food, but that wasn’t the case. The standard ramen was delicious as well. The broth here is rich, so if you like rich broth, you’ll enjoy this place. They have other items here too but I didn’t get a chance to see everything. Everything is delicious here and the kids were happy because they got a treat (lollipop) after finishing their food. Will come back here again. They are closed mondays and the 3rd Tuesday of every month.

The best ramen I've tried in my life. Price range from 900¥ to 1130¥ (around 6€ to 10€). Best Tokyo ramen 2014-15 award and included into the Michelin guide. If you're in Tokyo, find some time to visit this place. Must try!!

Hakodate Shio Rāmen Goryōkaku is a small, cozy shop in Ogikubo that specializes in authentic Hakodate shio ramen. Originating from the port city of Hakodate in Hokkaido, this light broth ramen features pork and chicken broth with seaweed and scallops sourced from Hokkaido, offering a rich and flavorful taste. The shop offers classic ramen toppings such as wheat gluten and kelp.
this place had been on my list since our last trip to tokyo but we finally made it! we arrived just before noon and were sat within 20 mins. as a note, the line outside is split in two when it’s long so check around the corner. food was delicious in its simplicity. you also get so much chashu! lovely owners and a very cute shop.

We ended up here because another Ramen stop nearby had a long wait and there were only a few people ahead of us here. I’m so glad that happened because this was not only one of my favorite ramens in Japan, but on of my favorite meals. The owners are incredibly nice Ana the Ramen was element and light, but still had a beautiful depth of flavor. I’d go out of t way to come back here!
David M — Google review
The pleasantness of shio ramen coupled with the seafood taste of Hokkaido…very nice Soup: kombu, shio, probably hotate - umami packed and so comforting to drink Noodles: thin straight, pairs well Toppings: probably the weakest point, the menma felt cheap and the char siu was kind of dry, but don’t let that discourage you, this place is all about soup and noodles.
PangTV — Google review
Really small ramen place that only sells one specialized Hakodate shio ramen. Even though small and it sits only 7 customers at full capacity, you don’t feel claustrophobic or tight at your seat. The owners are really nice and the chef speaks English. English menu is available as well. The ramen costs only 750 yen that comes with noodles, bamboo shoots, garnishes, and two slices of charsiew (roasted pork slice). You can pay more for additional toppings. I added a soft boiled egg at 100 yen. The soup is simple and yet tastes great. Noodles are cooked at the right firmness and the charsiew is amazing. Order at your seat and you pay after the meal at your seat as well.

The soup was amazing, light, but flavorful. I rarely finish the soup these days. But here is one of the exceptions.

Very good and delicate bowl. The soup is light but complex and deep in umami. The egg is fantastic; the noodles very smooth. It's not flashy but very good.

Chinchintei, located in Musashi Sakai just two train stops west of Kichijoji, is renowned as the birthplace of abura soba, a type of soupless ramen. The restaurant claims to have invented this classic Tokyo dish back in 1965 and continues to attract long lines of customers eager to savor its signature offering. The simple yet richly flavored bowl features thick noodles, chashu pork, and bamboo soaked in a meat-infused oil.
The staff were friendly and absolutely wonderful. I had an enjoyable lunch with my daughter. I was astonished of how considerate they were to cut the char siu (pork) into thinner slices for her. I would definitely bring my family and friends there again.

(Translated by Google) This is a restaurant I often went to with my father when I was little. I returned for the first time in 20 years. I arrived at opening time on a Saturday and missed the first round, but the turnover is good as my bowl arrived in about 30 minutes. I ordered the regular-sized abura soba with a large portion and a seasoned egg topping. I also ordered the regular-sized fried rice. There are many other reviews of the abura soba, so I'll just talk about my personal favorites. The naruto here is really tasty. I love eating it with vinegar. The soft-boiled seasoned egg is also delicious, with the flavor soaked in well. It's a recommended topping. The fried rice was also seasoned well with pepper. The diced pork really enhances the flavor and is delicious. It's a Tama area dish that I crave every now and then. Thank you for the meal. Dan Dan noodle restaurant
Aun is a popular spot in Tokyo known for its exceptional Szechuan style Dan Dan noodles, which are considered the best in the city and among the top in Japan. The dish comes with a generous serving of meat and offers options to have it with or without soup, with a choice of three different soups available. Diners can also select their preferred level of spiciness on a scale from 1 to 5.
I’m a huge fan of soupless noodles, such as mazesoba and abura soba, so I was excited to try this place. It’s not either one of those things, but something different all together. It’s essentially the Chinese version, where you can choose your spice levels, with two options: the spicy oil and the Chinese black pepper (it’s more numbing than spicy). I went with the black sesame option with both levels at 3 and it was perfect. The noodles were cooked perfectly and it was sooooo tasty. I got some rice to add at the end to soak up all the oils and I recommend it. I’d like to try the regular ramen but I’m not sure I can do anything other than the soupless version because it was that good. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely a must try. Thanks 5amRamen!

DELICIOUS!!! 100% on of my best ramen Taiwanese style. I ate with level 5/6 of chilli and Szechuan pepper which was perfect for me. Will absolutely come back. Cherry on the Sunday : jazz music 😍😍
Sarah E — Google review
I loved this place! I usually don't care much for noodle soups but these Szechuan style noodles were so tasty I ate it all up. You can choose to have it with soup or without (we all chose to have it with soup) and there is also a black sesame option which my friend got and really liked. There are also fun additions you can get like soft boiled egg, extra veggies (highly recommended), extra noodles, and rice and bottled beer. You place your order at the vending machine just inside the entrance which was a little confusing but at least there is English written on each item. You put your money in first and then make your selection. You have to pay and select each item separately and then give all the tickets to the folks behind the counter. They'll ask you what spice level and what numbness ("stimulant" is what they call it) you want on a level of 0-6 for each. If you want level 6 you need to pay 100 yen extra.
Kristy O — Google review
If you love mala, you'll love this place. You can choose the level of spiciness and numbness to your ramen. I chose the soup one and it was yummy. I find the flavour to have been localized as it uses ramen noodles and there are dried shrimps in the ramen. There are hairtie and a jug of cold water to prepare you for the experience of eating spicy food. It was fun and the food was really good.
Jenny L — Google review
Black sesame Dan Dan noodles! 2 options - with or without soup. If you can’t take spicy, don’t worry you can choose from level 0-6. I got level 2 and it wasn’t spicy at all. So if you like yours with a kick I suggest upping the levels of spiciness and numbness.

I love the vending machine order culture in Japan. The menu and information are quite friendly to tourists. And we placed our order without any problem. A staff was also by thr counter to help us too. We ordered 1, 2, and 4 at a glance. My fav ramen restaurant in Tokyo station. Must visit place whenever I visit Tokyo. You get to taste the richness of the tonkotsu broth clinching to every strand of the noodles as you slurp them. The chashu is thin but flavorful as you sink your teeth into it. The ramen egg is a must! Highly recommended!
Wendy K — Google review
Amazingly, I’ve stumbled upon a ramen shop in Tokyo I don’t like. Noodles are ok, the thin straight kind. But the pork is subpar and broth despite getting the black garlic version is quite weak, lacking the flavor and depth of any good shop. There’s a good reason why this store has no line, whereas others on Ramen St. you have to queue. Skip this place, which is apparently now owned by the Setaga-ya brand? せたが屋 signs etc are posted inside; well, at least I know of other stores not worth a tourist visit, too. 😅

Overall, this place offers an average bowl of tonkotsu ramen in Tokyo. The ease and accessibility of being in the Tokyo station ramen street helps in a hurry. You can find a tastier tonkotsu ramen if you venture out.

Personally not the hugest fan of really thick American tonkostu broths so we wanted to really try out what tonkostu broth in Japan was like. Oreshiki Jun in Tokyo Station was our first ramen here and it was so good. At 1200-1300¥, the broth was rich and creamy but not oily and over the top. The thin ramen noodles clung on to the soup so well and the char sui was lightly marinated so they complimented the soup so well (versus overpowering the soup and noodles). A great start to our Japan adventure. FYI this is cash only via ticket machine.

great authentic ramen experience in tokyo! would recommend the dipping ramen. the broth was super flavourful with a hint of scallion and the pork was seasoned perfectly with a tender texture. the noodles also had a great chewy texture and mouthfeel. we also loved the gyozas- the skin was super thin and was filled with broth. super worth it for the price!!

The establishment offers both thin noodles (ramen) and thick noodles (tsukemen), with patrons praising the delicious texture of the freshly made noodles.
One of the best rated ramen in Tokyo. I arrived just before they open and there was already a line of 8 people. It is not in a crowded area so I was surprised. I entered the shop 20 minutes after they opened and asked for their ramen with extra egg. The ramen looks beautiful, the cloudy color of the broth and the presentation were great. The meat has intense flavor and the broth is extremely delicious, I could drink it every day lol. Noodles were perfectly made, you can tell they take it very seriously. The seasoned egg was good, but i think i would ask for extra meat next time instead. Price was fair and the portion size around average. Overall I understand the rating of this place, it's worth waiting in the line and I will definitely repeat another day.

Very delicious and thankful food. I researched it online and it is said that there is always a long queue and requires long waiting time. However, not sure if I was lucky or not, there was no queue outside and very few customers inside when I arrived. I arrived very late (around 6:30 pm). We found this restaurant using Google maps. It is a small basement restaurant along a small road. The restaurant is very well decorated with carefully designed Red, White and Black colour combination theme. We have to make our orders from the Self-ordering Kiosk before the host comes over to usher us to our table. Our orders are very well presented when served. The food is delicious. The service is excellent.
Khei L — Google review
Located in the basement of a residential neighborhood in Yoyogi-Uehara, reservations seemed unnecessary as I went at 2 PM on a weekday, there were at least 10 seats open. We ordered both the shio (salt) and shoyu (soy sauce) based broths at JPY 2000 each. A deluxe set with traditional ramen toppings like eggs and chashu can be ordered separately for JPY 4000. Other menu items include A5 wagyu rice bowls, truffle wontons, and kurobuta chasu (Black pig BBQ pork). Both soba bowls had an extremely delicate flavor, almost akin to a consommé, with clean and understated flavors. The figs at the end of the shoyu broth were a very nice addition, completing the dish with a light, dessert-like flavor. From a personal standpoint, I believe the ethos of ramen is as a layman's food that should be reasonably priced and satisfying enough to warrant repeat visits. This restaurant takes the opposite approach, at double the price of an average bowl, in an effort to elevate it to French haute cuisine. It does this by using premium ingredients such as A5 wagyu, Iberian Bellota belly, balsamic and truffle cream, and kurobuta (Japanese black pig). Perhaps I'm being pedantic, but I would recommend anyone to try it out and decide for themselves.
J C — Google review
Nice restaurant, serving nice tasting ramen soba noodles. There was a strong flavour of truffle which is nice but potentially too much was used as it overpowered some other fantastic flavours. The atmosphere was a bit too stiff for my own liking but was generally pleasant. The service was very attentive.

I did a "ramen experience" here and it was one of the best highlights of my trip! The food was obviously outstanding, but to get to see the inner workings of the shop and learn the history and the work that goes into the ramen was incredible and really special. Highly recommend doing the experience, or even just coming here for a meal. You won't be disappointed. Service was impeccable also.
Alex G — Google review
Decent soba here. I got the super combo for 4000 yen and a special side dish, ice cream, and bamboo shoots. The bamboo shoots were too peanut flavored; very different from the traditional shoots they put in since it’s extremely thin. The side dish was just half an egg with some meats. It looked extremely fancy but was confusing on its role. The soba overall was plentiful. Good portion size and great taste. It has to be fully mixed though. The ice cream was good vanilla. The balsamic didn’t work for me since it was so strong flavored; it felt like eating a salad. Was it worth 4000 yen? I think I would have enjoyed a local ramen shop a bit more. This felt more like a momofuku with truffle on top which made it difficult for me to score it higher.

Such a delicious food. We tried Special Osusume -A and was so yuuum. I wished we could have colder beer as outside was super hot. Rather than it was an amazing experience of ramen and Japanese food.

1 Michelin star ramen for <$20 US. Are you kidding me?! This one is the easiest to get a reservation for of the multiple Michelin star ramen joints in Japan - opens up the week before, pretty good amount seating. Ticketing system worked really well and you could go back to order more (we went on a Friday around 2PM, not sure if anyone could walk in) We were seated right in front of the bar watching the cooks prepared. The Ramen was artwork itself. Salted Ramen and soy based Ramen were both so good and the first Ramen we had in Japan. Broth was full and warm, ramen was slightly springy. The set is a beautiful accompaniment, but I would gladly just eat more Ramen - should have ordered 2 bowls for myself!

Restaurant
Ichijōryū Ganko Ramen is a cozy spot with counter seating, offering a concise menu of ramen featuring pork and seafood. Located near Yotsuya-sanchome Station, this hidden gem has been serving its signature intense salty and umami flavors since 1983. The original seafood ramen broth quickly gained popularity among locals. On Sundays, patrons can savor a special bowl showcasing delicacies such as anglerfish liver, shrimp, softshell turtles, and scallops.
First visit to Ichijōryū Ganko Rāmen[ 一条流がんこラーメン ] on Friday April 25, 2025. It made Tablelog’s Top 100 Ramen Restaurant list for 2024, so I wanted to give it a try. Arrived on a cool overcast Spring morning at 10:30am. I know this place is popular, so I was looking for a line of people and actually walked right by the entrance. I found the place- it has a brick facade and there is an orange colored rail on some stairs going to a second floor. The shop is street level and I saw the ticket vending machine outside the shop. Also saw the dog bone sign, bull skull, and beef bone hanging so I knew I was in the right place. But nobody was on line, which is kind of refreshing always having to wait. Today there was no special ramen, so they had their normal “100 Ramen” and their “Johin Ramen”, both of which were the same price of 1200 yen. I pressed the 1200 yen button, and also got a seasoned egg for 150 yen, Negi for 150 yen, and devil meat [ 悪魔肉 ] for 300 yen. I got my tickets and they called me into the shop to have a seat. They then asked which soup base I wanted (100 Ramen or Johin Ramen) and I told them Johin Ramen. They then asked if I wanted Shio (SALT) version or Shoyu (SOY SAUCE) version- I chose Shoyu (soy sauce) version. They then started making my ramen. NOTE- If you don’t know which soup base to try, they will let you smell each one to see which one you like better. I saw a couple people enter after me saying it is their first time there and saw this happen- so ask to smell them if you don’t know which one to order. 2 minutes after ordering, my ramen was served to me. Talk about fast service! Due to all the toppings in the bowl, had to push them aside to get a spoonful of the soup. It was piping hot, and SUPURB! It was a beautiful tasting soup, and the seafood and animal base were blended perfectly. I know a lot of people have voiced their opinions that it is too salty, but for me it was perfect! Don’t get me wrong, it is kinda salty but it’s not like you’re drinking sea water from the Dead Sea. That said I can understand how some of the locals here can find the salt/flavor overpowering. The 2 large slices of chashu were super tasty. They slice it fresh right before putting on your ramen, and they were super tender, moist, and flavorful. The “devil meat” was almost like shogayaki flavor and it was yummy as well. There was nothing remarkable about the aji-Tama (seasoned egg) -I found it kind of light in flavor but maybe because the soup was so overpowering, no way for even a seasoned egg to compete against that foe 😁 The noodles were the thin yellow type and it reminded me of some Chinese chow mien noodles which I love, so for me the noodles had enough flavor power to match the soup. Next time I will be ordering extra noodles for sure! Oh if you ask them for a MEMBER card, they’ll give you one. Then next time you go you will get 1 free topping. They have caramelized onions which looked absolutely divine, but apparently you cannot order (pay for) these fried onions- you need a membership card to get them. So next time I come I’ll be sure to get the. Thank you for a wonderful and super tasty meal!

Amazing little hole-in-the-wall looking shop with a bone hanging off a sign that also power red lights in a cow skull hanging above the door. Eight booths. There was about a dozen folks ahead of us in line but it moved quickly and we were got our three kids and us seated in about 15-20 min. Ticket vending machine offered the regular ramen in soy or miso (1100) or 1500 for the special (that day a clam broth). Very friendly staff was very understanding of our young American boys.
Knud H — Google review
Definitely do some research on the menu before going. The little machine that displays what you can order is very non-descriptive. Your options: - ramen - special - special (but 100 yen more than the first) - special (but 100 yen more than the second) - special (...) ... - toppings list Ordering the regular ramen (1100 yen) gives you an option between Shio ramen and another soup broth (forgot the name) which was more dark in color (could've been shoyu). Other ramen might not have the option.

From what I've heard ramen here changes everyday. Master is doing great job, making good food with high quality. I need to go back here.

Delicious. As the chef claims it is a healthy bowl of ramen, I say the ingredients are natural and fresh. Unlike other low quality ramen, no after taste although some might say it's on the salty side. Old couple lovingly prepares your meal. What else can you ask for?

Ramen restaurant
Ramenya Shima is a cozy ramen shop located just a short walk from Nishi-Shinjuku Station. The warm and unpretentious space features an open kitchen where traditional bowls of ramen and beer are served. While the wait to be seated can sometimes be up to 2 hours, the popular shoyu ramen is well worth it. The simple yet extremely tasty shoyu ramen is a top choice for many visitors.
I almost died eating here! I knew how legendary this shop is, so when I went here with my brother, we both ordered the signature shoyu ramen and a side rice. We got greedy and decided to split an additional shio ramen (we asked the owner if it was ok and he said yes). We both aren't big eaters, but man I stuffed myself over my limit to the point where I thought I was gonna pass out on the way back home. Ok so the ramen. Most complex bowl of ramen I had in my life. Also the most expensive I had in Japan. Noodles are on the softer side, which was strange because I never had soft ramen outside of the Shin Ramen I make at home. I'm fine with it, but this can throw some people off. The toppings were all fantastic, and I'm usually not a topping guy, I pay most attention to the broth and noodles. Broth is the most complex I've had. I can't even describe it. There was some truffle in it, and to me that is a negative. I just don't like that flavor. Overall, 9/10 for me. It's a top tier ramen that I would go back to if I can. Thankfully they have an online reservation system now, which I would gladly pay for to avoid having to wait 2 hours in line. PS: I didn't enjoy the shio ramen. It might be unfair because I was already full when I ate it.

A bit hard to make a reservation. You have to have fast hands and internet. You have to book via tablecheck and pay 390JPY/person just for booking. top quality ramen. complex flavor. worth to dine in. I’ve tried white soy sauce ramen from my friend’s bowl which is so good, I can sense umami flavor all over the soup (I’m not sure but it’s smell a bit like truffle). I ordered shio ramen which is so good as well with a lighter taste (I think it’s chicken-based soup with some ocean ingredients). Unfortunately, I haven’t got a chance to try shoyu ramen.
Yiamyut S — Google review
Unfortunately it is not my taste. Reservation is not easy and not that hard through Tablecheck if you insert all thr information at 8am the day before. Ramen itself is a bit disappointing. Though with a high rating in Tabelog, the soup is too salty which hinder the taste of any other ingredients. The egg is not soft boiled but rather close to fully cooked. The noodles and meat tastes great. Given the price tag, personally I will not revisit.
Ka ( — Google review
Best white soy sauce ramen I’ve had. Difficult to book you need fast fingers on the website at 8am, but it’s worth the time and booking fee . Wonton and meats are made very well, noodle texture is just right . Soup is lighter side and very flavourful . Queue outside the shop until the owner asks you to come in
Kevin K — Google review
White shoyu soup was excellent, like it slightly more than normal shoyu. The wonton is good but not my favorite thing in the bowl. Chashu is perfect, soft tender juicy and flavour bomb. Noodle is also al dente. Shop is slightly cramped. Easy to book through table check
Ploy T — Google review
Getting a table at Ramenya Shima does not go without considerable effort. However, waking up early enough so we could make a reservation for the next day, we had quite the high expectations. Luckily all of those were duly satisfied, when, upon ordering the largest items on the menu, two steaming bowls appeared, filled with the softest, fattiest, most delicious meat we've ever had in ramen. Of course the noodles themselves were also amazing, as were the delicate shrimp won tons, and the softly boiled egg. Definitely worth the effort!
Emiel H — Google review
A must try for ramen lovers. Is it really the best in Japan? I have no idea. Is it the best I've ever had? Absolutely by a long shot. I've been here twice on my visits to Tokyo, it's never been difficult to snag a reservation. Clock strikes 0800, refresh, pick a slot, pay. It's a rigid system, you queue by the STREET, not the shop. If you have to try the Tsukemen you'll need an early reservation as it's been sold out each time I went (1145, 1330). Otherwise you'll have to settle for the best ramen of your life. 2000-2400 yen. The proportions are perfect. Just enough broth, 3 slices of different cuts of pork (I think), and 2 delicious dumplings. You'll leave plenty full. I wouldn't recommend sizing up the portion unless you know you can put away A LOT. If you complain about a 390 yen reservation fee just go to Ichiran. This place isn't for you.
Ryan W — Google review
It really is an exquisite bowl of ramen. The pork was thick cut, fatty and tender. Noodles had a soft and silky texture, kind of like a wonton wrapper. My partner and I got the shio and shoyu broths between us, both were great. I got an extra rice bowl which was too much food for me but I happily finished it anyway. The lack of queue due to the reservation system is also a big positive, but bookings sell out within the minute.

Chūkasoba Seijo Seika is a cozy and unassuming eatery located in a tranquil residential area of Setagaya Ward. Since its establishment in 2020, it has garnered accolades such as a third-place award on the Tokyo Ramen of the Year list and a Bib Gourmand recognition from Michelin for its shio ramen. The restaurant offers stylish ramen and donburi dishes, with seating available at the counter.
Located in the outskirts of the Tokyo city, this ramen shop is definitely worth visiting due to its outstanding quality. Also it opens till late at night so it is relatively easy to visit for a famous shop. Had the Shio ramen; the ramen is beautifully arranged which gives it a very attractive and pleasant first impression. The soup is clear and poignant, and goes well with the slow-cooked charsiu (For more, see Instagram: Gaga.bichon)

Been meaning to try this ramen shop out for a while now. Given it’s the next town over and since it once again made the Tablelog Top 100 Ramen Restaurants for 2024, finally we visited a few days ago. It was on a holiday, so we decided to do a late lunch to avoid the inevitable crowds. Arrived 2:00pm and…there was a long line- more than 10+ people were in front of us. However a mere 30 mins later and we were next to go in! A very friendly young lady came out, showed us a menu, and happily answered all our questions. My wife decided to try a Shoyu (soy sauce) ramen and I went with Shio (salt) ramen set- which included a chashu don (pork over rice) which I had to try as I read other reviews that raved about it. We paid for the meal while still outside, which was a first for me, and she promptly returned with our change. Several minutes later, we were ushered inside to a very clean, bright, inside that seats about 7 people if I were to guess. Went to wash my hands and when I emerged the meal was already served! Seems they time it that they prepare your meal while you are still outside, so once you enter the store, you are served! As you can see from the photos I’ve included, they served up a very nice looking meal! More importantly, was it tasted GREAT! The predominant flavor in my shio soup base was niboshi, but it was not overpowering at all. The thin noodles were nice and delicate, but had a nice springiness to them which made them perfectly complement the soup. My chashu don didn’t disappoint either. Very nice flavors and the fried onions were also a nice touch. Overall had a very memorable and tasty meal. One would think that given the location, it would be slightly pricey, but on the contrary, their prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be returning here again. Suggest you try this place and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Ramen submerged in nectar of marine essence requires slow and attentive savouring. The low-temperature cooked pork slices need to be rescued promptly from the soup to maintain their pink colour and tenderness, which is perfectly preserved on top of a rice side dish.
Yibin ( — Google review
A restaurant serving very stylish ramen. The restaurant is very clean with only counter seats. You purchase a meal ticket from the ticket machine located right next to the entrance. This time, I bought a set of soy sauce ramen and a bowl of meat on rice. The meat bowl looks very beautiful and is topped with roast beef-like pork and fried onions. The wasabi (Japanese horseradish) on the side goes surprisingly well with the pork. The ramen was also very beautiful to look at, and the soup was very delicate and appetizing with a subtle scent of yuzu (citrus fruit). It was a soup that made me want to drink it all up.

TLDR: A must-go ramen place with top-tier taste but super budget-level price. It’s just good. —————— Pro: 1. Ranked as 6th among all ramen places in Tokyo on Tabelog, so the taste is great. The soup is umami but not heavy at all. Medium oil feeling on the top, but not oily at all. It’s like the chicken soup you’ll expect during the winter night 2. Super great value. Ramen + Don set is just 1100 yen is I didn’t remember wrongly. You could only get one ramen in most other top ranked places with this price; they give you big meat. 3. Friendly staffs, new interior makes it feel clean and tidy. —————— Cons (have to be picky!): 1. A bit far away from Tokyo center. But, it’s definitely worth if you love food. 2. The chashu is a bit lack of seasoning I guess, but still great considering it’s comfortable smoking smell, but not top-5 great.

Got the shoyu ramen and the donburi. They were both perfection. The shoyu ramen was packed full of flavour but each component was delicately balanced. The donburi also did not dissapoint. I loved the fried topping they put on top, its the perfect textural contrast! I arrived in the middle of the day and although the line was long, it didn't take too long to get in. The staff were also lovely!

Restaurant
Ramen Shichisai is a cozy spot known for its soy-based ramen with handmade noodles. The restaurant's white brick facade and long lines of ramen enthusiasts waiting outside make it easy to spot. What sets this place apart is the process of pounding and shaping the noodles from dough right in front of customers, resulting in thick, chewy, and perfectly wavy noodles.
This ramen shop features fresh noodles because they are made, cut and boiled after an order is placed. You can always see artisans selling noodles. Buy a meal ticket from the ticket machine at the entrance. Cash and transportation IC cards are accepted for payment. ◎Kitakata Meat Soba The noodles are freshly made and freshly boiled, thick and frizzy, and have a wonderful texture and feel. The soup made from dried dried sardines is entwined with the frizzy noodles. There are two kinds of chashu pork: one is cooked at a low temperature and is rare, and the other is seasoned and tender.

A friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. The noodles are expertly handmade in front of you. I had the dipping noodles, they came with a very flavourful fish based broth. I loved the thickness and texture of the noodles.

Great ramen shop with a bunch of variety and a vegan option aswell. The noodles were a highlight and were made freshly in front of our eyes.
Kathi L — Google review
This was THE BEST vegan ramens we had on our trip to Japan!! This is a MUST go for vegetarians or vegans!! For me, it was the perfect bowl! They make the noodles fresh right in front of you - from kneading the dough, to shaping and cutting the noodles and boiling it - the entire preparation process happens in front of you which is an amazing experience. It is counter seating so every one can watch is being made fresh. We got the vegan tantanmen which is the only vegan option on the menu. You choose between small, medium and large noodle portion sizes which are all the same price. We got medium but could have easily gone for small as the medium was definitely a big portion. The broth is an absolute flavor bomb! It is complex, and thick and creamy so you get the flavors with every bite of the noodles. The noodles feel so different than any other ramen place. You can really taste the freshness and the al dente chew in them. The noodles are thick, almost like fettuccine. You can walk in without any reservations. We came at 12:30 for lunch and there was about 15 mins wait.
Somya A — Google review
This is our first trip to Japan, Tokyo. We we're looking for vegetarian options. The tantan ramen here were the best we have ever tried. Handmade noodles right before your eyes, thick and rich broth, jammy eggs - we came back three times in total throughout our stay. Definitely recommend trying the tantan ramen here!
Sh3tb3rd — Google review
We decided to try this place because we wanted to explore somewhere new, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. You can actually watch the chefs prepare the ramen right in front of you, even making the noodles fresh by hand. The ramen itself was incredible:rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The staff were warm and welcoming. It’s truly impressive how precise and dedicated the Japanese chefs are; every detail feels carefully crafted. This place definitely left us amazed and satisfied😌
Bea K — Google review
The most notable feature of the ramen here at Shichisaj is the hand-massaged, hand-cut thick noodles which are prepared only when your order is placed. The amorous, springy, and supple noodles go well with the thick niboshi soup here. The shop is spacious and clean, full of strong light, which is quite surprising given the traditional flavour of the ramen. The shop is also located close to the city center (Tokyo station).
Gaga B — Google review
excellent kitakata style ramen. there is nothing to complain about the quality of the amazing food, the handmade noodles, juicy chashu, beautifully cooked eggs, rich yet light soup, and the friendly staff. you can see the noodles being kneaded and cut right at the front of the store. one complain will be that it IS a very pricey bowl of ramen, easily ¥500 above what you get at other stores, but this is the price to pay to enjoy the deliciously chewy hand rolled and cut noodles, and is certainly worth a splurge if you can afford it

Honda Tokyo Noodle Works is a compact eatery that serves traditional ramen bowls. The restaurant offers counter seats and tables for its customers. Visitors rave about the amazing quality of the ramen, particularly praising the clean yet deep soup and flavorful chashu. While there may be a wait due to popularity, patrons find it worthwhile. The soy sauce flavored ramen stands out for its lighter yet complex flavors, offering an impressive dining experience.
Saw long queue outside this restaurant and decided to join in one of the day where we had time. The tsukemen is really good and unique. The noodle looks to be made in house and not your usual ramen noodle. Worth trying but maybe not when the queue is really long.
YouJin K — Google review
soy tsukemen, location-wise is super convenient, taste was so-so to me and its quite expensive comparing to some other ramen shops, soy soup was strong with 魚介, noodles were placed under a really thick kombu water, would only go again if I am nearby, and probably by changing to 太麵 would suit better with the soup...🤔
Jonathan L — Google review
Soy sauce flavored ramen is fairly different from other places in a good way - lighter but more complex flavors make overall tastes an impressive experience. The meat (roasted pork and chicken) is perfect - tender and juicy. Highly recommended.
Joseph S — Google review
Absolutely amazing, one of the best ramen, clean yet deep soup, beautifully soft and flavorful chashu, probably the best cha shu i ever had. The queue was a little long, but they move decently fast and its worth the wait. The only complaint i have is that the katamen is not hard enough.
Eve — Google review
Very impressive, the roast beef is soft, fried chicken steak is juicy, Cha Siu is soft snd tasty, noodle is bouncy and never too soft, sauce/soup was soy base which very good taste of seaweed and dry fish in it, never too salty. Going with some lemon juice and slight sprinkle of sea salt makes it very appealing in hot summer today, no wonder always a long line outside, worth the wait of 45 mins.
Chris L — Google review
Good, not great. Bit overhyped. The noodles were slightly overcooked, the soup actually had good umami; however, wasn’t in harmony with the rest of the bowl. The 3 types of char siu were nice, but nothing to write home about. Try it if you don’t need to wait in line; otherwise, not worth the wait at all.

Sapporo Dominica, a renowned Japanese curry restaurant in Kyobashi, is known for its customizable bowls of soup curry served in a relaxed setting with table and counter seating. The menu offers generous portions of spicy and hearty soup curries featuring an equal mix of meat and vegetables. Conveniently located near Ikebukuro station, it's a popular choice for a quick meal or drink on the way home.
I had no appetite because I was on chemotherapy. I wandered around Ginza and decided to visit because it was a store with a good Google rating. I ordered the original curry with Hamburg and 8 vegetables. I ordered level 3 for spicy food and added crispy cheese. It tasted so comfortable and delicious, and I had enough vegetables for my current needs. I received good energy to heal cancer. If I come back to Tokyo, I will be the first to visit again.

Ordered the soup curry with crispy cheese. It’s one of their recommended menu item. You can customise the level of spiciness of your soup curry. PayPay, card and cash. Stepping into Dominica Soup Curry is like embracing an old friend you haven’t seen in years, and discovering they are just as warm and inviting as you remember. After a hiatus of 5.5 years, the soup curry’s robust broth greets me with its familiar karai embrace, the perfect level of spice that warms without overwhelming. The broth, a rich tapestry of flavors, melds the earthiness of its original recipe with the fresh snap of vibrant veggies. Each spoonful is a journey through a well-tended garden of taste. The accompanying rice, a fluffy bed for the sprinkling of crispy fried onions, offers a crunchy contrast to the smoothness of the curry. Those onions are not just a garnish but a necessity, their slight sweetness and crackle elevating the dish from mere comfort to culinary delight. The bowl before me is a still life of comfort food: a perfectly soft-boiled egg, the yolk rich and inviting; tender morsels of chicken that yield effortlessly to the spoon; and baby corn and other vegetables peeking out from the golden-hued curry, promising a bite that’s as nutritious as it is delicious. The experience at Dominica Soup Curry remains, as ever, a delightful sojourn into the world of spice and warmth. A must-visit for anyone seeking the soulful embrace of a meal made with care and served with a side of nostalgia. ***** old review ***** Amazing & Spicy. Dare yourself to get the levels after 5-6. While the original soup base is fantastic and nicely flavoured, today I tried the pork base soup. The pork base soup curry has a thick texture with a lasting taste to it. Add a spice level of about 6-7 and it will stick to your mouth. The broccoli well dipped into that soups has an amazing taste to it.

Ramen restaurant
Jimbōchō Kurosu is a small ramen shop that offers a variety of delicious and elegant bowls of ramen, including options with seafood such as oysters. The restaurant has garnered attention for its sizable portions and modern atmosphere. Despite concerns about the fishiness of the broth, it's actually chicken-based and quite light. Customers have praised the quality of the eggs but found the wontons to be less impressive.
What can I say but wow! Every component of this ramen was obviously thought out and executed perfectly. The soup was rich and not too salty, the chasu had the perfect texture and the noodles were nice and bouncy. Had to wait in line for about 30min because of how popular this place is. Thankfully the line was managed efficiently by the staff. The inside was small and intimate. It only had about 7 seats.

Not a ramen lover but my girlfriend took me to queue up for this place and it was completely worth it. Authentic place for ramen lovers! Got Michelin 2022 too! but prepare cash. These are of the few places that go with ticket ordering machine.
JL K — Google review
Amazing ramen! We waited for 45mins because there are only 5 seats but it was worth it! Salt based ramen with roasted pork was incredible!
Petros P — Google review
Amazing ramen place that can get very busy with the locals. Expect to be waiting outside for a bit before ordering and then again before getting seated. Staff is attentive and helpful. Fairly expensive, but definitely worth it for the experience.

The shio ramen is far more flavourful than the shoyu, so get the shio while you’re here.

Okonomiyaki restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Tokyo, Ushio has quickly become a beloved destination for ramen enthusiasts since its debut in 2012. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Nihon-ichi shoyu soba ramen, which features a rich broth crafted from premium Hokkaido kelp that elevates both the noodles and toppings to new heights. Beyond ramen, Ushio also serves delightful fluffy okonomiyaki that feels like biting into little clouds.
Cozy, homely and awesome food!! Come here every time I'm in Tokyo
Aishi L — Google review
Very fluffy okonomiyaki, like little clouds. Service was polite and very kind to me as a non-Japanese speaker. I think the topping could have been richer, but the seafood inside was yummy.
Edward A — Google review
The sauce is too sweet for my taste and the cabbage didn't taste good. But it has large pieces of seafood. There's a 500 yen charge per person for sitting down but you get a tiny appetizer. People can smoke here.
Amanda P — Google review
It was delicious okonomiyaki. The other dishes were also excellent! They gave all kinds of consideration to the vegetarian who dined with us. Thank you so much for your hospitality!
KIICHIRO K — Google review
Nice staff, but food overpriced, overhyped and underwhelming! 500 yen per person cover charge to have the privilege of just sitting there was an unwelcome surprise. Approx $55 USD for two beers and two pancakes 😐😐! Had better food in a night market! Wouldn't recommend unless you want to feel ripped off and bitterly disappointed!
John S — Google review
Saw good things online about this place, but was a little disappointed. On a Monday night, we were the only people there. Okonomiyake and yakisoba were alright, but I've had a lot better.

Mochi is a delightful gluten-free treat that comes in various textures and shapes. These crushed rice balls create a sticky, glutinous paste that can be plain or filled with different flavored creams. This traditional Japanese delicacy offers a wide range of options, from the jelly-like warabimochi to the dense daifuku mochi filled with red bean paste.
Best “Melon Pan” that I ever had. I happen to buy multiple every time I stop by.

If you go in the afternoon, it's usually sold out even on weekdays, so I think it's best to make a reservation by phone before you go. What I like about this store 🔳Mont Blanc You can eat high quality Mont Blanc for around 600 yen. Made with plenty of domestically produced Japanese chestnuts, the ingredients are used to their fullest potential and are exquisite. I think this is a masterpiece of Mont Blanc, with the lightly sweetened fresh cream and zag-zag meringue inside. I think this is the most delicious patisserie in Yotsuya. Chanko restaurant
Chanko Nabe Shinzan is a must-try hot pot dish made with meat, seafood, and fresh vegetables. It's a favorite among sumo wrestlers, with each sumo stable having its own unique recipe. You can enjoy this hearty meal while watching a sumo tournament or visiting a sumo stable. There are also specialty chanko-nabe restaurants around the city where you can savor this traditional dish.
"Having not grown up on eating nabe, like most Japanese do, I have to admit that the thought of eating it, doesn’t automatically make my mouth water. However once you start eating, it’s hard to stop – the taste is just that satisfying. Search for "Chanko Nabe Shinzan Shinjuku" for more info.

Such a cozy and amazing experience. Food: it is like eating at your Japanese grandma’s house. Quantity wise, you will leave full. Cooked with love. The chef is actually an ex-sumo and the older lady’s husband was a sumo as well. The spot has been open for 28 years. So much history here! People are lovely and service was good. We came with a toddler and they were very understanding and playful with the kid. The atmosphere is very homey and not at all pretentious.
Emma D — Google review
I had read about this place online before visiting and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The service was great and the staff was really nice and attentive despite the language barrier. The food itself was great, and I love the way it is served (cooked on the table in front of you). Make sure to bring a friend to share with, as the dishes are meant for two people minimum!

Very autenthic place with typical food. All the staff is really kind and prices are fair given what you get. Buonissimo!
Giovanni Z — Google review
The first time I ate here was in 2019, I discovered the place by chance. I came back a few days ago with my girlfriend but unfortunately the place was all booked. Nevertheless, having explained that it was my second to last night in Tokyo, they managed to accommodate me anyway, something for which I will be forever grateful. The place is very small and friendly, and almost exclusively frequented by locals. It serves different kinds of chanko nabe, a staple food of sumo wrestlers. It consists in a big and savory hotpot made with broth and a wide variety of vegetables and meat. When you finish the nabe, they will offer you udon or rice to eat with the remaining broth. The food is absolutely delicious and both me and my girfrfiend loved it. We will absolutely come back next time we are in Tokyo. The staff speaks very little English but we managed to communicate using a mix of google translate and my very bad Japanese. Most importantly, they are very friendly and happy to communicate, so language is not really a barrier. This is definitely an exception compared to many restaurants in Tokyo we went to. In general, eating here is more than just delicious food, it's a very warm experience that makes you feel at home, something you will for sure remember. I can't recommend it enough, and I can't wait to come back!

(Translated by Google) Located on the second floor of a building in a back alley in Arakicho, this restaurant has a hidden feel. They serve chanko all year round, but it is fully booked every day in winter, so the best time to come is during the hot season (lol). The specialty here is curry chanko! On this day, we had a private party of 10 people, so we enjoyed a set course meal. ・Appetizer We had mozuku seaweed. ・Crab salad It was packed with crab, and there was probably more crab than vegetables (lol) ・Beef tataki We ate some excellent marbled beef, tataki, and a refreshing ponzu sauce. ・Sashimi platter Tuna, white fish, octopus, horse mackerel, etc. ・Fried chicken wings The fried chicken wings go well with alcohol. ・Curry chanko It was a chanko nabe, with pork, meatballs, chives, mushrooms, fried tofu, shiitake mushrooms, and more. The flavor is curry-based, but it's not too thick or heavy, so it's surprisingly light. We enjoyed the course and had drinks a la carte for just under 8,000 yen per person.
