We ate our first onomichi ramen here and it was delicious! The place is small (2-3 small tables) and a bar for eating. The staff was really pleasant and accommodating. Good work guys!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Onomichi Ramen Akatsuki, near Hotel Vista Hiroshima, is a hidden gem. Even though I was hungover and not very hungry, I finished their special set with ease. Onomichi ramen features a soy sauce-based broth with pork back fat and flat, chewy noodles—so comforting! The special set came with their signature ramen, crispy karaage, and flavorful fried rice. Everything hit the spot. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I ordered the set with the Onomichi ramen (asked for spicy) + karaage + half fried rice. While the fried rice and karaage were alright, the ramen was amazing. The heat and spice combined really well with the green onions and broth. The meat was also really good. Overall an excellent bowl of ramen.

Looking for ramen and this place hit the spot and exceeded expectations. The ramen was full of flavour and melt in the mouth delicious! The accompanying rice, and fried chicken with the sake was all also bursting with flavour. A really homely feeling in a cosy setting with just a few tables and bar area. English menu with explanation on this type of ramen was also a nice touch. But it was not needed as everything just tasted fantastic! We will be coming back!

Excellent Ramen with a Soy based soup! The noodles were cooked just on point and the soup itself was so flavorful. I would definitely come back. The fried chicken was great too The basic portion was below 800 yen for just the ramen. We came on a Tuesday around 2.30 pm and there was no line.

Food 10/10 Mind is blown. This is my new favorite ramen spot in the entire world. I had absolutely no expectations so I walked out of the restaurant completely changed. The ramen comes in a light soy sauce based soup that is clear and made with some pork fat. The flavors were just so refreshing and clean, and the ramen had a lot of vegetables topped on it so it tasted super well-rounded too. The noodles were springy and had the perfect chew, which really spoke to me. Also literally adding all those vegetables and the final price was only 980 yen. Actually shocked. Such good value. I slurped that soup straight up. Left the restaurant 1000% satisfied. Atmosphere 10/10 A very quaint and cozy little ramen shop. The entrance was very small and down an alleyway. We sat by the counter, where each individual seat was separated by a divider to ensure privacy. Service 10/10 The ramen was served quite expediently.

It’s a little shop in the basement of the Mitsukoshi Department Store, so it’s a bit hard to find, but it’s worth it. The anago was excellent and definitely worth trying if you’re in Hiroshima. The service was quick and courteous, too.

Quite expensive but definitely worth it for the experience. One of my favourite kinds of food in Japan and all the staff were so professional and polite. Unlimited green tea as well is definitely an added bonus. It’s around ¥2500-¥3200 for each eel dish. You can get it in small medium or large but we just went for small to save what money we could. Definitely worth it to try the food though!

I liked it! There are different portion sizes that you can choose and they only serve anago! It is in the bottom floor of the shopping mall and the service is quite fast if you don’t go peak time! Overall was good and worths it!

Can't speak about the quality of the dine-in experience but I got a bento takeaway and honestly, it wasn't that good. The eel was dried out. Maybe it would've been better served fresh.

Such a lovely experience dining here! The way the eel was cooked was so tasty and the rice was definitely high quality. The staff were all so friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience despite our language barrier. Would recommend!

But what truly made the experience special were the owners — incredibly kind and welcoming people who made us feel right at home. They even chatted with us for a while and shared a bit of their story. At the end, they gave us some stickers as a gift, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture! Overall, it was a okay ramen if you like oysters and salt ramen. The pork topping was decent but the roasted wagyu and egg were not particularly impressive (doesn’t have the same jammy consistency compared to other ramen shop eggs). Though note that the price is on the high side and seems mainly catered to tourists. Apart from the novelty of trying oyster ramen, it might not be a ramen shop I’d choose to visit again.

Very friendly people, excellent Ramen in a lot of combinations available. I took with Wagyu and Oysters and it was delicious - for me the best Ramen after two weeks in Japan! (my first visit to Japan at all). My wife took the vegetarian Ramen and was very happy with it. Highly recommended!!!

This little ramen shop was tucked away unassumingly near our hotel stay in Hiroshima and if you weren’t looking for somewhere to go eat you’d easily just walk past it. I’m glad I didn’t because this bowl of ramen was insane between the slices of A5 Wagyu beef, the fresh Hiroshima oysters and the slightly firm noodles with that mesmerizing, sensational broth. The owners speak a bit of English too so if you’re sitting at the main counter you can strike up some small talk with them!

Definitely not a high end atmosphere but it's a very low-key easily accessible if you're looking for some delicious beef and oyster ramen. By default the Hiroshima oysters and Wagyu salt ramen for 2000 yen doesn't come with whole oysters although the chopped up oysters are great with a ton of flavor. The beef doesn't seem high end and is prepared/sliced ahead of time although it's good quality. Everything is CASH ONLY via a vending machine so be prepared. The extra noodle serving was also helpful if you came hungry like me.

The ramen is delicious and beautiful. It's soul food. The owners and staff are wonderful people. You can order from the ticket machine. There is beer (my favorite) and other great drinks it's a bright clean place. It just opened in September 2019. Enjoy this place now while it's still a hidden gem.

The ramen came quickly and it was delicious. Decent amount of options and the beer was fresh. They staff greeted warmly and the atmosphere was lively. I would definitely reccomed a visit for anyone heading to Hiroshima. :)

Delicious Hiroshiman style ramen!

Fun place. Super basic, looks more like a fast food spot but so fun: as a foreigner, you walk in and owner/chef says: ramen? Yes please, ramen and beer and that’s what he has. No frills, no questions. The broth is so comforting. Just wonderful, and the thin noodles perfectly firm. No egg, meat thinly sliced. As I said, no frills but authentic. Certainly no tourists (except for me, of course), but welcoming nonetheless.

The ramen is so good, there is only one type on the menu.

Loved their ramen broth & pork! Only reason I didn’t give the place a perfect 5 is it could be cleaner — but food’s very much worth the visit. We arrived a little before 8PM and the tsukemen was already sold out. Would come back to try it next time. :)

Wanted to take the advice of all the other reviewers and the ramen master himself to get the basic bowl, but greed took over me and I took the special bowl. It was so divine and my only regret is not getting another bowl which would have been the basic bowl. This guy is a friggin machine! Customers beware that there’s a line for this establishment and cash is king here (unless you like paying 10% tax too)

This was probably the best ramen I’ve ever had, definitely the best on my 3-week trip to Japan. The broth had the right amount of richness and salt, the noodles were cooked to perfection and the topping were delicious. The chef is amazing, he almost dances while preparing the food.

I loved this place. This is what ramen is all about. The little fellow making a bowl of goodness from his heart. Ramen broth is simple tasting yet has an obvious complexity. Noodles although not homemade, on the tooth and of thin perfect size and flavour. Toppings were just what the doctor ordered in a cold day. Amazing that this bowl of heaven was blended and such a tiny kitchen. What a great experience.

We had two types of cold dipping-sauce noodles - spicy soy and sesame (preferred the spicy soy). Both the sauces and the toppings are very customisable. I'd recommend adding extra toppings as the base (couple of pork slices and some veg) isn't quite enough.

We had really tastey Hiroshima Tsukemen here. The spicy dipping sauces were soo good. We had the level 15 and 10. Perfect lunch meal. We will definitely come here again.

Quite delicious spicy tsukemen. We ordered spiciness of level 15 but it wasn't really spicy. The fried chicken were good too. When we first came on weekend lunch time and it was very busy. We returned on Monday dinner time and there were only us and another 2 people.

It was alright, the much hyped tsumekemen is tasty, however the char siu's is quite underwhelming, it has the texture equivalent of a toilet paper. To me, the star of the show is the chicken karage (fried chicken), fried to perfection, well seasoned and not too oily.

First time trying Hiroshima Tsukemen, and Bakudanya definitely delivered. You can choose from four different portions, small to mega for noodles. For the dipping sauce, select the spiciness level from 1-15. I wasn't brave enough and went with 5. It was DELICIOUS!

Wow! We just had the greatest food experience at Tempura Tenkou! Everything was so fresh, not heavy and incredible tasting! We got the small portion each, and it was a perfect amount of food. A perfect presentation as well, it was a whole experience we had never had before. Chefs were friendly and very professional. 👍

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic Tex-Mex restaurant in Hiroshima. After visiting the Hiroshima area, museum and park, we felt like having a late lunch and found Otis. The owner is an amazing sweet man and the woman who cooks the food is just as sweet. I ordered the Bean Tacos which were very tasty with the tortilla, lettuce, tomato, black beans, grated cheese and a light red chili sauce. The combination is perfect. A few others ordered the Quesadillas, one with pork the other with black beans. Both loved the flavors. Our son ordered the Taco Rice bowl and enjoyed the dish. Overall, great food and music while eating.

Otis has some good tex-mex for reasonable prices (we spent a lot because we wanted to try many different things). The enchiladas and the Chili were quite good, but the Mexican sausage soup was excellent, and probably would have been even better on a cold winter's day. The gentleman (owner?) was great, and even though it got busy after we arrived, the wait times weren't crazy. I will definitely return next time I'm visiting Hiroshima.

I was really looking forward to trying this “Mexican” restaurant, but unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. According to locals, the founder and owner passed away in May, and since then, an elderly lady (at least 70 years old) has been running the kitchen alone. She politely warned us that she’s on her own and things might take a while — which we completely understood. However, the food was just terrible. We ordered chili con carne and tacos. The chili had strange chunks of unidentifiable meat instead of minced beef, mixed with melted cheese, a few beans, and even carrots. It came with a dry supermarket tortilla on the side. The tacos were equally disappointing — completely bland, with no flavor or texture. It’s honestly sad, but I strongly recommend avoiding this place. What used to be a restaurant with a story now feels like a sad imitation running on its last legs.

The staff are kind, mostly older people. Sadly, the original owner has passed away. The food we got was just terrible. The tacos were basically a bland vegetable salad stuffed into a dry tortilla, the chili con carne was awful, with meat that tasted more like tripe, and the soup was underseasoned and below average, yet still the best dish we had. BLUF - 99% of the people who eat here - leave the restaurant feeling hungry (sometimes - hungrier than when they went in...unless they ordered 3 or 4 main dishes). I bet 50% of people who eat here - are google-mapping the location of the nearest 7/11 or LAWSON'S - so they can immediately go and buy some more food after they leave the restaurant. PROS: 1. They do have "vegan cheese". 2. The owner/manager and (his wife?) seem like very nice people. 3. Seems like they sometimes have a musician/singer who performs. 4. They do have "gluten-free" options...and it seems like these buzzwords get the attention of a lot of western tourists. The night when I had dinner there - in the restaurant at dinner time -there were 2 x American groups and 1 x New Zealand couple. I sincerely doubt if many/if any locals eat there. CONS: 1. Terribly small portions (Thank Sweet Baby Jesus - there are convenience stores located within a half-kilometer) 2. Very pricey (for what you get). 3. The menu is one only page (6 or 8 items, only half of which can be made vegetarian or vegan). I actually sat there at the table for 15 minutes waiting for the owner to bring me a menu - and when I asked him...he told me the food menu was written on the back of the drink menu. Save yourself the heartbreak and just grab some food at 7/11 and get a 80% discount on your dinner.

I would probably give it 4.5 stars. The tan tan men was delicious, although the amount of minced meat is abit little. The taste itself felt like it was missing something until I added the sichuan peppercorn powder in the shake bottle and that levelled it up so much.

They are specialized in TanTan noodle. I tried many tantan noodle from different places, and this place was one of the best! Order egg with the noodle to add extra flavor! The chef is also very kind and willing to help if you have problem using the ordering machine.

We arrived quite late at Hiroshima , after 9pm coming in from Shikoku island. After checking in , we walked to look for food and found this ramen restaurant. Turns out to be a great choice as the food was quite good. Great service as well as the waitress approached us explaining if we needed help , she’s the only one who can speak English etc. Turns out not really needed as there was also an English menu . Pricing is also quite reasonable. Highly recommended.

While many restaurants close rather early in Hiroshima, this ramen closes relatively later so had my late dinner there. Still had to wait for a table at around 10:30pm but was very quick to be seated. The soup broth was flavourful and rich. Toppings were great. The gyozo was amazing! Would definitely come back again next time.

Amazing food. Best ramen I had 8.5 or 9/10. The gyoza were pretty amazing as well. They actually served real wasabi with the gyoza and it was my first time trying the real stuff. Loved it soon much. I love the burgers (tempe, lentil and kuruma-fu available) which can with great artisanal buns, but everything is very tasty. The best food we have had in Japan so far!!! Highly recommend for vegans/ vegetarians/ foodies in general in Hiroshima! Food is well priced, well portioned and deliciously good! This was some of the best vegetarian food we’ve had in Japan! The fried eggplant and potato dish is amazing, it melts in your mouth. The vegetable buns are very fluffy. So many options on the menu that we didn’t even get to try. The portions are quite generous and we sadly ended up ordering too much, but we wish we could come back here for more!

Normally, it can be a challenge to find good vegetarian Chinese food, but oh boy do you need to go here! They serve amazing vegetarian dishes, for a very reasonable price! There’s so much choice you can easily go more than once and eat different things each time. We’ve ordered different things to try and share and everything was so delicious! Just get level 1 spicy, just trust me, these guys aren’t messing around here. I was happy with my choice of sesame and garlic. And adding the vinegar was the biggest surprise, it changes the dish in a wonderful way and even helps with the spiciness.
