Seafood restaurant
Fatt Kee Seafood Restaurant, located in the Hilltop area of KK, is known for serving delicious fish noodles. The restaurant offers homemade fish noodles made from fish meat and serves them with fresh fish slices. The seafood at Fatt Kee is always fresh from the docks, making it a popular choice for seafood lovers in Kota Kinabalu. Visitors often rave about the restaurant's famous tom yum soup and original tomato soup base with milk, which is hard to find outside of Sabah.
Ordered their coral grouper tomyam, the best. Fish meat is so huge portion, but the price on the high side, rm28. Yet we are satisfy and recommend this place for a bowl of good fish noodle.
Lee K — Google review
This is a sliced fish soup restaurant: - relatively pricey for the type of cuisine but generous portions - would recommend the tom yum soup base, it’s not too spicey and goes well with the fish - the fish is fresh but is relatively chewy compared to what I was expecting, as it’s probably a sea fish rather than a freshwater one which we are used to in Singapore. - there are other seafood options and you can get the soup with rice as well. - parking available just behind and there is a convenience store and ATM nearby.
Desmond — Google review
Recently visited your restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The waiting time was excessively long, and the service provided was below expectations. On top of that, all the food for our table of four was served incorrectly. To make matters worse, the staff argued and asked around in front of us, which was unprofessional and uncomfortable.
Jeremy H — Google review
Came here upon arrival at KK. Was recommended by my friend who couldn’t make this trip. It’s a truly a seafood restaurant with seafood soups, braised and fried dishes. We ordered the tom yam mixed seafood soup, tomato seafood soup, braised seafood, deep fried fish meat dumplings and braised fish lips. All of them were good but the favorite was the seafood which was not overly spicy and the Assam sourness is just right. To all of us the fish lips was what was most interesting. We mistaken it for fresh fish maw - because it’s just so chewable and smooth. Loads of collagen. Good lunch.
C S — Google review
Fatt Kee Seafood is a paradise for fish soup lovers. Their tomyam and tomato-based broths are both full of flavour, pairing perfectly with a wide selection of fresh seafood and fish-based ingredients. No pork here — just pure seafood goodness. The soup is rich yet balanced, and you can customise your bowl to your liking. A popular spot, so expect a crowd, but the service is fast and efficient.
Zhi L — Google review
Ordered tomyum noodles with mixed ingredients and it came in large size only. I was surprised I finished it 😀 it’s yummy. I would wanna try the fresh fish slices next time. The staff is quick in getting us our seats even though there were many people on Saturday. Our orders came in quite fast too. Overall good experience!
HsienHui C — Google review
Serve only seafood famous locally many celebrities have eaten here. Serve NO pork (not sure if is halal certified) some tourist here to eat. I would say if is your first time to kk one of the must try
CWill — Google review
Visit KK for a few days. Come here again to have the meal mee hoon soup ikan (tomato). Glad the taste and portion still the same as before. Although the price quite high, thats the quality paid for. Will visit again next time.

Northern Italian restaurant
Little Italy is a cozy and popular Italian restaurant that has been owned and operated by the Ceresa family from Torino, Italy since 2000. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of homemade dishes, including squid ink pasta, mushroom ravioli, lasagne, and tiramisu. The food is known for being good with a comfortable environment and reasonable prices. It's also Muslim-friendly as it does not serve alcohol or any non-halal ingredients.
They are the best Italian restaurant in town serving authentic Italian cuisines. The prices listed in the menu are within the reasonable range with high quality dishes. The staffs are friendly and attentive. Overall environment is enjoyable. Highlight: Their Tiramisu is a must try item.
Fionabsolute C — Google review
Read the rave reviews and went in looking forward to an authentic italian experience. Ordered carbonara with fresh pasta and it was far from authentic. An Italian pasta place that cannot do carbonara right is a fail to me. No egg yolk, cream was used instead. Sauce was too thin to hold flavours and the bacon ham was lazily done. Could not finish my plate of pasta, if was that bad. Enjoyed the salad thoroughly, garlic bread was passable. Disappointing experience.
Sharon — Google review
Visited Kota Kinabalu for a work trip with my bosses and finally got the chance to try Little Italy, a spot my boss had been wanting to try for some time. I made a dinner reservation for all of us, and it turned out to be a great choice. The restaurant was within walking distance from our hotel — very convenient and easy to locate. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. We ordered the Caesar salad, mushroom soup of the day, beef lasagna (for me), bolognese pasta (for Amalina), and shared a plate of tomato bruschetta. Surprisingly, the food was really good — we couldn’t compare it to Italy itself, of course, but it definitely satisfied our cravings. The only downside was the humidity inside the restaurant. It’s an open-concept space with air-conditioning, but no windows — combined with the brick oven used for pizzas, it made the place quite warm. All in all, good food, great location, and helpful service — just be prepared for a bit of heat if you're visiting during the evening!
Nor S — Google review
Always my preferred Pizza when I visit KK, the foods was well presented and tasty, nice enviroment as well.
WONG H — Google review
Dining at Little Italy has always been a must-do for me everytime I visit Sabah from the first time I ever came here many years ago. The atmosphere is one that is homey, loud, vibrant yet welcoming. The staff have always produced good, consistent and quick service for all customers. Down to the food, the dishes here may not be the most fancy or presentable, but they always get the job done which is to taste fantastic. The raviolis have been my favourite all this time, and their bread rolls are always famtastic. While I do feel their pizzas are slightly lacking in flavour and texture, I do feel they are still decent. Furthermore, it does help that they have added several new items to their menu recently. One of these items, the polpette, I did try on my recent visit and it was really amazing. The meat inside was soft and every bite produced a burst of flavour. I love that the beef balls had a sort of skin or outer layer rather than simply being one clump of minced meat. To end things off, I finished with a really lovely chocolate mousse that had just the right consistency. Overall, Little Italy did not disappoint as always and I will definitely be back here again on my next visit!
Zaki — Google review
We had an amazing experience "lunch-ing" at Little Italy. Every dish we tried was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The Al Nero Di Seppia had that rich squid ink (something that you cannot see everyday) taste that seafood lovers will appreciate , while the Amatriciana and Alfredo Spaghetti were creamy, comforting, and satisfying. The Zuppa di Mare was a standout – fresh, hearty, and packed with seafood. We also enjoyed the Cannelloni di Zucca e Pollo, which had a nice balance of sweetness from the pumpkin and savoury chicken filling. Lastly, the Crespelle al Forno was warm, cheesy, and hit all the right notes. Definitely a must-visit spot in KK if you're craving authentic Italian cuisine. Great food, cozy atmosphere, and excellent service.
Johnson S — Google review
Nestled in KK, this restaurant, introduced by a local, exudes an authentic Italian charm, a legacy of its original Italian owner. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exquisite beef ravioli. The freshness of the Rivioli was evident in every bite, and the array of available sauces allowed for a truly personalized culinary experience. Flipping through their colorful and inviting menu felt like a delicious dilemma – I wanted to sample everything! While the prices lean towards the higher side, the quality and uniqueness of the offerings suggest it's an investment in a memorable meal. The promise of many more visits to explore the entire menu is already on my mind. Their refreshing peach tea was a delightful accompaniment, perfect for a post-meal stroll around KK. However, it was the unexpected combination of Pizza with anchovies, pineapple, and ham that truly stole the show. This bold and surprisingly harmonious blend has earned a special place as my first and foremost favorite. Adding to the overall positive experience was the exceptional service provided by the kind and patient waiter, a true testament to genuine hospitality. This restaurant isn't just about food; it's about an immersive Italian experience, well worth the occasional splurge.

I have only decided to try this because it was raining so hard and I don’t want to go out of my way from the hotel I am staying (Hotel Capital) just to look for dinner. Didn’t expect much after reading some negative reviews but I was surprised that they actually have a really good pasta. The creamy carbonara really suits my taste and the serving is very generous. They offer both quality and quantity. Worth the price.

Noodle shop
Chinese noodle restaurant
The noodle shop Kedai Kopi Melanian 3 金沙园生肉面 is located in the KK area and has Cambodian style noodles which are tasty and not too expensive. The cost of food here is higher than other local sang yuk mee stalls, but tourists should try this place anyway. There are many other local restaurants that serve better noodles, so if you know where to look you will be ok.
Fresh meat slices, clear flavorful broth, and springy noodles make a perfect combo. Quick service and affordable too!

👎🏻 1) Not the greatest tasting meals 2) all cutleries soaked in warm water with patrons dipping their fingers inside. Not the most hygienic 3) the sliced pork soap is really plain 4) really warm overall 5) hard to find car park
Samuel T — Google review
I ordered 干捞河粉,but unfortunately, I was so disappointed with my experience. The noodles were swimming in an overwhelming sea of salty soy sauce, which completely overshadowed the dish. The pork slices were thick, tough, and difficult to chew, making them unpleasant to eat. To top it off, the soup base was bland and lacked any real flavour. Barely a whisper of taste!! Overall, not the experience I was hoping for and definitely not worth the price.
GIGI — Google review
Somehow, the pork noodles in Kota Kinabalu tastes different. The pork slices are so soft and the dry noodles are delicious. Perhaps, the secret to this delicious bowl of noodles is their sauce.
FoodiesTravel B — Google review
The Noodles is nice, the meats and the soup tastes good. Noodles + Soup = RM 12.50. The Yong Tauhu is okay, but the meat given is quite stingy. RM 2.50/pc The Teh Tarik ice is terrible, and it costs RM 4.50 with this small cup. Not recommended. Skip the drink, and order the food is enough.
SX K — Google review
This place's pork noodle is AMAZING. We tried the soup and the dry ones. both is equally good especially before a trip for island hopping. The place is very clean as well. we came when they open shop. Give it a try if u are here.
Jason C — Google review
Considering I mainly came here because I was curious to try the specialty of pork soup and noodles despite being not a fan of pork, I was surprised how much I liked it. Flavorful broth, very tender meat and rich fried noodles, well complemented by hot sauce and soy sauce for dipping if you choose. Super friendly service and for the first time, it actually worked when I asked for less meat and more vegetables, and I could also ask for pork meat only, with pork balls etc. Only fans no AC, but it still was pleasant during lunch time. Once you order and pay at the counter the food comes out super quickly.

Tried: 1. Mixed Pork with Noodles (RM12.50) Rating: 8/10 - Tasty - Fresh Pork - A bit expensive by local standard 2. By local standard, a bit expensive. Accepts eWallet payment. Verdict: Try at least once

Wan Wan, located in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, is a popular dining destination offering a variety of Malaysian dishes at reasonable prices. The traditional atmosphere and friendly service enhance the dining experience. The menu features nine dishes and beverages, including the highly recommended fish noodle with tomyum soup and konlo noodle. Despite being crowded during peak hours, the efficient service ensures quick seating and food delivery. The clearly displayed menu with prices and illustrations makes ordering easy for first-time visitors.
First time here. We came on Friday during lunch time and it was packed with people. They sell fresh fish. If you want fried fish, do it like me. Order a separate fried fish, noodle of your choice (kon lo mee, for me) and soup if your choice (tom yam kosong for me). We ordered keropok and it was nice to eat with the tom yam. Tom yam soup was tasty. Fish portion was generous. If you prefer fried fish like me, the option was not too many.
Chris G — Google review
I find the fish noodle very interesting and really like texture, it’s literally like fish ball but in noodles shape. The bounciness and fish taste are all to my liking except for the seasoning to it. It tastes like shallot oil but I feel it doesn’t taste really good as a dried noodle dish. Perhaps will order soup version next time. Also had their clear fish fillet soup, it’s more like teochew style and it tastes refreshing. But the plum in the soup still don’t fully cover the fish smell in the fish, so that’s what i think it could be improved. The cracker was yummy, got the fishy taste and it really feels like they made them in house. One of the famous pork free shop and really like how all different races dine in together as a norm !
Zhi L — Google review
Found this fish noodles restaurant hidden amongst the light industrial shops in the Bundusan area. Fish noodles seems to be the choice of most of the customers here. At least the people working in this area can enjoy fish noodles for lunch. To me, this restaurant is more a coffee shop than anything else. Its open air and does not have a private air conditioned room. Parking seems difficult. Its a light industrial area so we need to expect vehicles, light trucks and even forklifts to be moving around on the roads around this restaurant. But if you feel at home in this working environment, then I guess this restaurant / coffee shop is ok 🙂
Nolan R — Google review
I tried mee hoon soup fish tomato, the taste is good. Not bad. Just nice for those fish lover. Price is affordable, portion is satisfying. Don't forget to buy their muruku and keropok ikan. The location is really hidden. Good luck. So many eateries.

Delicious, fresh fish soup and kon lo noodles. Went for breakfast and impressed. Loved the Assam pedas (hot & sour) soup and clear fish soup. Will definitely return for breakfast when in KK!

Wan Wan has always been the highlight of my trip every time I come to KK. Some of my friends recommended different places to try, I did, but I still think Wan Wan is the best!
Lengkong92 — Google review
If you wish to eat fish based dish, this is the right place. The fish really fresh and cooked on order. The price is average, maybe slightly more expensive but worth it. The hot and spicy fish noodle needs less sugar and more chillies. You should also try the fish crackers. Highly recommended.

Among the best fish meehoon in town for over 15 years at least. The Asam Pedas is among the best I had. tomyam were good also. Only place that you can order 7 star grouper meehoon soup (七星班煮米粉 ) Service were prompt and fast, quality is consistent, just that sometimes you will feel the pressure to finished and leave fast esp when the boss around.

Chinese restaurant
Kuo Man is a popular Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that often sells out of its ingredients by lunchtime. This cycling trip visited the restaurant and found it to be delicious with good noodles and crispy roast pork. Despite recent media criticism, Kuo Man seems to be doing well with customers.
Incredible beef noodles! We were brought here by our local friends and this is a favorite among locals. The signature dish is amazing with a number of different beef parts in a light broth with lettuce and then you've got some accompanying noodles that have been tossed in soy. Noodles were very Al Dente and the chili sauce is top-notch! Then we also ordered a plate of the roast pork. The skin was so light and crispy and the under part seemed more smoked like a bacon or a ham as opposed to the traditional five spice powder and salt absolutely incredible! Came again the next day! Except this time for breakfast this time trying the fish noodles.

Every time I go to KK, I will eat here. And I go early to make sure I get to eat the best Yong Tau Foo in town. Sells out fast. Kuo Man has been around for yonks. I started dining here 36 years ago but no longer live in KK. The Lady Boss is older now with the next generation manning the counter. Give a thumbs up, if this post resonates with you. 🙏

Unexpected surprise. Was staying in the hotel across the street. Went out for dinner and I stumbled upon this little shop. It wasn't anything fancy or big crowd that attracted me, i was just feeling like having some noodle soup. When the dish came I was surprise by the generous portion of fish slices, fishball and prawns. It tasted great too !!
Dx 7 — Google review
Famous for their fish ball fish paste and fish eggs but didnt have it today. Tried the beef stew, it is nice. Noodles are a tad bit soggy for me. But will be back again to try the fish stuff!
Lyndia L — Google review
Food: salty broth and noodles, few lauk to match with the noodles. Noodles texture itself is pretty good. It is not "bad" but there are so many fish noodle competitions out there and the only unique thing they offer here is the "abalone" slices. Many items out of stock at 12:30pm Service: staff/boss who is taking order is impatient. The service staff is better and was regulated enough to be there to apologise for the forgotten orders. We had to remind them our drinks order and side order, because they really forgot and didnt bother to check.
Sc C — Google review
This restaurant served up the best fried pork patty. The noodles were delicious, and so were the fishballs.

Good bowl of home made fish ball and fish paste soup. Personally not a fan of their noodles but my family says other wise.
Rebecca — Google review
It was fate that led me to discover this restaurant. When I was taking a grab cab to the hotel, the driver told me this place is famous for its fish balls and beef offal noodles, since just right opposite the hotel, me & my husband decided give it a try. I ordered the pork offal noodles with added the yellow rice wine, it was the first time I'd had such a rich & flavourful yellow rice wine broth. They were so generous with the rice wine, even more than I’d use when cooking at home, so delicious! I’m already starting to miss it now that I’m back in KL. For yellow rice wine lovers definitely need to try this! My husband ordered the beef offal, which he really enjoyed. The meat was tender, though the soup was a bit milder compared to what we’re used to. The weather was so hot, I thought of ordering a chrysanthemum tea to cool down. But when the drink served , we were stunned and surprised 😂, almost half cup of chrysanthemum and gave us a ”sieve” too! That’s unique!!! I was heard Ham jian bian is good too but personally I found it nothing special. As for the noodles, we found them nothing too special. However, the portions of the foods were large, easily enough for two people to share. They have many more choices of foods, definitely worth a try!

Chinese restaurant
Kedai Kopi Hoe Kee is a popular spot with long queues during lunch hours. The BBQ pork is particularly noteworthy for its strong flavor, while the roasted pork is considered standard. However, it's advised not to pour all the sauce as it can make the overall dish quite salty. The mix meat option, which includes roasted chicken, char sau, and sau nyuk with rice, costs RM10 and is described as tasty but slightly salty.
Suprisingly tasty. Heard that this shop is a legend in foh sang. To find this shop u need to enter the building from the back.
Diana H — Google review
The uncle only starts cutting and serving at 11:30am sharp. Of course, you can line up earlier if you wish. Today I arrived at 11:28am, there were about 6-7 people in front of me. I waited for 20 mins and got my food (ta pao). RM15 for cha sao & sau rou rice (ga liao). But I feel the meat portion for Ga Liao is not that much. Looks like normal portion to me. Or maybe they gave me wrongly? The shop is very small, got 6 small tables inside for those who want to dine in. The food is alright, not as good as I remember it to be few years ago.
S V — Google review
Must come early for the roast pork belly which it’s specialty and limited . Roast pork belly usually finish within an hour from opening . However there is still chicken, charsiew and pai kut. Open from 1130am till finish .

I went here after seeing so many reviews and always long queue when pass by during lunch hours. I've ordered mix BBQ and roasted pork. I think the roasted pork is quite standard but the BBQ pork is nice because the BBQ flavour is quite strong which I personally like it. Overall is quite salty and shouldn't have poured all the sauce, haha. If you want to buy (only takeaways), please be there early (around 11am).

The best ever shao la in KK. I love the rice fragrance, sauce and pork. Even without the pork the rice and the sauce are enough to finish a delicious meal. Another bonus is the price is reasonable. Just that you need to have a queue, worth it.

Yee Fung Laksa is a renowned restaurant in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, known for its delicious laksa and beef noodle soup. The beef broth served with flat noodles, beef slices, tripe, stomach, tendon, and more has a smooth and clear texture with a strong beefy flavor. While the laksa is not very spicy compared to typical Southeast Asian dishes, it offers a unique taste and consistency. The restaurant provides quick service in an open and airy setting.
The Laksa king is actually very nice! Huge servings and very reasonable price. There is a very long queue but the staff are very organized and very hospitable so there is no chaos in the store. The staff are super friendly and the food is very good. Definitely a 5/5 and would highly recommended specially their Laksa King!

Well organised systematic Cafe with great food and even better Kaya! Best kaya i have ever tasted. Smoky and good flavour of caramelised brown sugar.
Joan L — Google review
My family and I really enjoyed the laksa. It was mildly spicy and flavourful. The broth was thick and rich and absolutely tickled our palates. We also ordered kaya toast and it must be one of the tastiest ones I’ve had. However, the ngau chap noodles was somewhat disappointing and tasted watered-down. It unfortunately brought down the dining experience at Yee Fung Laksa a few notches. Nonetheless, we had an enjoyable time and would highly recommend this place to anyone who’s in Sabah for a visit.

Local specialty laksa. (And to be clear, the laksa is not the same as what you get in Singapore or Penang). The version here has a distinct curry flavor and deeper umami. Lines may be long but very efficient. There is a regular serving and "King" serving size, with the latter having shell on large prawns (vs smaller prawns). Fresh and flavorful, but you decide if you want to peel by hand! The chili sauce on the side is very nice too. Wash it all down with a iced preserved lemon or plum drink.

One of the best noodle always here if visited this place, plus their price is reasonable too. Food is consider good as well. Just that sometime there is long line of people waiting for table, but can see they are very good in organizing it included advance order and very quick serve your food.
David ( — Google review
Came here to try their laksa and it didnt disappoint! Though its not very hot and noodle portion is abit small. Their fish ball was OK but the dry noodles was cooked too long as its soft and mushy. Place is quite packed with people so you might need to queue depending on the time you visit. Staffs here are very friendly and you will need to order at the counter.
Chen — Google review
The laksa soup was okay, but I was a bit disappointed with the prawns. I ordered the larger prawns, but unfortunately, they weren’t fresh. I was expecting fresher seafood in Sabah! The beverage was good though…sorry, I forgot the name! Hahahha
Tracy A — Google review
Came here because of the high ratings. Came here for breakfast. Super crowded. The laksa is acceptable but not the best. Felt like the soup is quite diluted. Not flavourful. Fishball is great. Overwhelmed by the extremely efficient and fast service. Shop has AC but due to the hot weather it feels like no AC. So hot that we had to leave immediately after as it’s too humid.

Meat dish restaurant
Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh Restaurant, located in Gaya Street, is a renowned spot for lovers of Bah Kut Teh. The broth is infused with Chinese herbs and spices, creating a unique and rich flavor. The menu offers tender pork stews, lean meat, pork ribs, and pork balls that pair perfectly with the aromatic broth. Additionally, the restaurant serves delicious sides like pickled veggies and enoki mushrooms to complement the main dish.
If you're in Kota Kinabalu and craving a heartwarming, herbal-rich broth, Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh is a must-visit. Known for their flavorful and aromatic bowls of Bah Kut Teh, this spot delivers a truly satisfying experience. We tried their best-selling Claypot Bah Kut Teh, and it did not disappoint. The broth was packed with deep, herbal flavors—rich yet not overpowering. The pork was tender, absorbing the essence of the slow-cooked broth, while the mushrooms and tofu soaked up every bit of that comforting umami goodness. For a more intense, savory bite, the Dry Bah Kut Teh was an absolute delight. Stir-fried with dark soy sauce, dried chilies, and a mix of spices, the pork had a bold, caramelized flavor with a slightly smoky touch. It was perfect with a bowl of white rice, letting the sauce cling to every bite. To balance out the richness, we ordered a side of Choy Sum, which was fresh and lightly seasoned, adding a refreshing contrast to the meal. With generous portions, a well-balanced blend of herbs and spices, and a cozy, no-frills ambiance, Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic and comforting Malaysian dining experience. Definitely a place worth revisiting!

Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh Restaurant was recommended by a colleague as a well-known local spot, especially popular with those who enjoy soup — whether when feeling under the weather or after a night out. Two of my colleagues really enjoyed their meal, but sadly, it just wasn’t to my taste. I wish I could say the same, but this is my personal review.

We went to that restaurant a few times, cause it was so good everytime. We loved the food, especially the Dry Bak Kut Teh & also the Coconut Pudding. Oh and the Teh C Special is my favourite there! The staff was so nice. They were all really friendly & we felt very welcome there. The restaurant is very busy & it seems like a lot of people like to go there. Even though the employees were in a hurry they showed us how to prepare the sauce or what kind of drink we could choose. And we got our dishes very quickly everytime. Thanks again!
Nadja — Google review
Tourist-Friendly. Visited Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh and found the service to be good, with staff remaining friendly and welcoming despite the large number of tourists. Their attentiveness and hospitality stood out. However, the food was just okay – not particularly memorable. If you're planning a visit, it's best to manage expectations. The experience is pleasant, but not exceptional.

They have expanded to aircon right opposite the old opened air. KK version is herbal unlike Singapore which I'm used to. But without much choices, I think this is the best place to go to. Just need time to get used to herbal type is you are used to Pepper type like in Singapore. I like the dry clay pot but I'll still prefer soup to go along with rice.

I am having late dinner here. The taste and the texture of fried dough sticks were so geli. Thick chewy and soggy dough with rancid taste. I feedbacked to the guy at front counter. He said they fried these in the afternoon and not recommended to eat during dinner. Then?! why just now your suggest it me to when taking my order?! Seems like you intended to clear your balance stock since noon time. Not recommended

Food here is okay and interesting for a local bah kut teh. Not something that i ate before. The bah kut teh is more to herb side. the bah kut teh is mix with different part of the pork. As for the dry bah kut teh is same ingredients and it tasted like gong bao sauce. Overall i enjoyed the dry one my wife enjoyed the soup. Card payment accept over here as well. Can give it a try if u want to taste a local food. came around 1930 and the crowd was ok.

Restaurant
Borenos Fried Chicken, located in Asia City, Kota Kinabalu, is a popular halal-certified eatery known for its delicious and crispy fried chicken. The restaurant takes pride in marinating the chicken just right and using excellent breading techniques to lock in aromatic flavors. They ensure that only fresh, locally sourced chicken is used, guaranteeing a delectable taste like no other. One of their signature dishes is the Full Spring Chicken, cooked to perfection without being oily.
This fried chicken spot came highly recommended by a local, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was freshly fried and served piping hot, making it juicy, tender, and flavorful. I ordered the 2-piece chicken set meal with Sprite (RM20.80), which included a side of coleslaw and mashed potato. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy—one of the better ones I’ve had in Sabah—while the mashed potato had a slightly grainy texture that might appeal to those who enjoy a more rustic feel. Personally, I still find other fast food options, like KFC’s, slightly more to my taste in terms of smoothness, but this one was still satisfying in its own way. I also tried the a la carte chicken burger (RM7.50). While the patty was served warm and fresh, the overall flavor didn’t stand out as much compared to other burger chains, but it’s still a decent option. Overall, I’d recommend coming here for the fried chicken set meal, as the chicken was definitely the highlight—crispy on the outside, moist and tender inside, and well-seasoned. The service was friendly, and the dining environment was clean and comfortable. It’s a great spot for fried chicken lovers!
Yue A — Google review
Atmosphere - clean & tidy environment with good ventilation (one does not get the oily smell on the body, hair & clothing dining inside the restaurant). There is also a separate lounge nearby (about 15 - 20 meter away) for big group dining, etc. Service - very good cashier & kitchen staffs. The supervisor/manager in black shirt helps to clear tables & served customers at waiting tables. Food - even though there is only 1 type of fried chicken flavour, it is enough as the fried chicken is very tasty. Fried chicken is served with Borenos sauce/gravy (similar to the whipped potatoes gravy) which made the chicken even tastier (no need chilli & tomato sauces, the gravy itself is good enough). The Normal Coke that came with the set meal can be exchanged with with Zero Coke without incurring any extra cost (Other fried chicken brands will normally put additional fee to this changed of drink request) - RESPECT - for not being greedy! Hope Borenos can expand to many more places (Tuaran? 😉 ) & maintaining the good standards all the time!

Awesome place to try fast-food. In my taste, they have better chicken burger than the other established fast-food companies. If I had the stomach, I would've tried other items in their menu too. The additional good thing about this particular branch, they have a lounge, which is a few stores down from the ordering counter, which is big and enough to hold bigger groups.
Mohamed R — Google review
I visited this fast food store while travelling and tried their 2-piece fried chicken for lunch. The taste was just okay, but about an hour later I started feeling bloated, burping constantly with a disgusting smell that made me feel nauseous. I ended up vomiting and having diarrhea. Another hour later, I reached the airport and had to run to the toilet to vomit again — and even after my flight, I vomited a third time. I finally reached home at 11:30 PM and vomited for the fourth time. The burping smell was still the same and made me feel sick every time. The worst part is that I wasn’t the only one — all four of us who ate there had the same symptoms. My partner even had a fever and chills while pooping through the night. Definitely never going to try this place again. Eat here at your own risk!

Yii Siang Hainan Ngiu Chap is a must-try dish in Kota Kinabalu, featuring a flavorful beef broth with an assortment of beef cuts like brisket, tripe, and tendons. This hearty noodle dish can be enjoyed with vermicelli or egg noodles and comes with various condiments like scallions, chili sauce, soy sauce, and lime wedges. For those who prefer a spicy kick, there are also Laksa versions available.
My go to for Beef noodle soup in Kota Kinabalu! Both the normal and laksa are delicious in their own way. Very fast in service and you serve your own cutlery, hot piping water for your peace of mind and hygienic reason.

Very clean bowls at the end of my meal is a sign of really good food 😂 Very enjoyable meal in the lovely company of a dear friend who recommended this place. The beef slices were nicely marinated and tenderised. Could not get enough of their soup. Flavourful and full bodied. Portion of the noodles were good too. Definitely a full meal at a decent price point. Lots of locals at this eatery so that speaks for itself. Only con is, there's quite a bit of MSG in the food... But for the flavours I had experienced, I'll definitely return to this again in my next visit to Sabah.

Possibly the best beef noodles I’ve ever had in KK. The owner ain’t holding back when it comes to the portion. Will come on my off days to have a warm soothing bowl and start my day. Worth driving 20 minutes from town just to enjoy my comfort food. Amazing.

Tan K — Google review
Yii Siang Ngiu Chap in Kota Kinabalu is a local institution that has truly perfected the art of beef noodle comfort. Their beef curry noodles are nothing short of outstanding — rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. The curry broth bursts with flavour, blending the warmth of spices with the savoury depth of slow-cooked beef. Every bowl comes loaded with tender slices, tripe, and beef balls, each cooked to perfection and soaking up that beautifully thick curry gravy. The result is a hearty, full-bodied dish that’s both comforting and memorable. The restaurant itself is simple and no-frills, but that’s part of its charm. You’re here for the food — served hot, fresh, and consistently delicious. Service is brisk, portions are generous, and the quality never disappoints. Yii Siang Ngiu Chap’s beef curry noodles are a must-try for anyone visiting Kota Kinabalu — the kind of dish that defines local flavour and keeps you coming back long after your first bowl.

Generous amount of meat, my go to spot for Ngiu Chap noodles. Rich broth, tender beef, silky soft tendon, and springy egg noodles all packed into one filling bowl. This place also serves laksa that gets my Sarawakian stamp of approval. If you’re missing that Kuching hometown taste, this one’s worth a try.

Sinsuran Sang Nyuk Mee, also known as Sang Nyuk Mian, is a famous dish in Sabah, particularly in Kota Kinabalu. Originating from Tawau, this pork noodle features thinly sliced pork served on top of noodles with a flavorful pork broth. It is also available with soup or dry stir noodles. The dish offers various protein options such as meatball, intestines, and liver.
Another good sang nyuk mee establishment in Lintas plaza area. You know you are good when you can still survive and thrive here with the tough competition. The noodle is good and comforting old style taste. The pork slice tender and sweet. The soup fragrant with a salty tinge. You cannot go wrong with either dry or the soup version.
SY T — Google review
Went for both soup and dry + the special that includes everything. Very porky bowl of soup with comforting salty taste (I love salty). The fried onions are great, can be better if they provide fried garlic, small red chilli. Also, would suggest to provide some vegetables for different textures. Pork slices are well marinated with perfect thinness. The kidney might have been a bit too 'porky' for personal liking. Overall it is a standard good bowl of pork soup and noodles. Nothing really special, nonetheless a day to day type of food.
Fatdieme — Google review
Sinsuran Sang Nyuk Mee delivers that nostalgic comfort you can’t quite explain — it may not be the most extraordinary bowl out there, but it hits the spot in a familiar, satisfying way. The pork slices are impressively soft and tender, soaking up the subtle yet hearty broth beautifully. The dark soy noodles are straightforward and flavorful, pairing well with the soup for a balanced bite. It's one of those meals you occasionally crave not because it's the best, but because it reminds you of home or simpler times. A comforting go-to when you just want something that feels familiar and satisfying.
Xelcius — Google review
It was pretty good overall. I’m not from Kota Kinabalu, so I didn’t know what to expect, but I found their standards quite passable. The food was decent, and service was okay—nothing outstanding, but nothing disappointing either. It’s a solid choice if you’re in the area and looking for a reliable meal.”
SY L — Google review
There's 2 ways to order this. The soupy version where everything is in it or the semi deconstructed version where you get the dry mee individually and the soup separated in another bowl. I suggest you get the deconstructed version where you can get 2 distinct different taste for the price of one. The dry noodles are tasty, delicious salty oily gravy and smells great. It looks plain but looks can be deceiving. Good enough to be eaten alone to be honest. The soup is yummy. Comes freshly cooked (that's why there's a little wait but worth it) and steaming hot. Contains the famous pork slices, liver, intestine, meatball with self extra ordered kidney. That there's absolutely no offal smell is testament to the incredible preparation done to it before cooked and served to you. The tender pork slices are incredible and that itself is reason to try this dish. Tender, soft and fresh, the meat near literally melts in your mouth with minimal chewing needed. Superb and worth the recommendation to come here. In short, try not to miss this if you are in the area.

Tuaran Mee Restaurant is a must-visit for noodle enthusiasts. This iconic dish hails from Tuaran, known for its simple yet intricate preparation involving delicate kneading to achieve the signature springy texture and eggy flavor. Seng Hing Coffee Shop in KK is a popular spot where the dish is fried and adorned with egg roll slices, char siew, or seafood and green vegetables.
First time trying Tuaran Mee! Was brought here by our friend who is local! What an experience! The homemade noodles are unique and have good subtle flavor but explodes once you add the homemade hot sauce! We tried both the normal version and the one with wine. Both are unique and delicious in their own way! A great way to start the day!

Small shop. Tuaran noodles is their signature but somehow, the noodles and the way it cooks doesn’t seem to be like tuaran noodles. One of the signature is the tuaran noodles yellow wine. For that, the yellow wine tastes so strong. It’s either you like it or dislike it. I prefer the original Tuaran noodles.
FoodiesTravel B — Google review
Food is very good! In my opinion, this is the best spot for Tuaran mee. And to my knowledge, I don’t know anywhere else in KK which offers lihing (local rice wine) Tuaran mee. I love their Tuaran mee texture, flavourful sang nyuk. The lihing was extra strong today! And I always top it off with a sunny side up. The gooey egg yolk just elevates the whole dish 🤤 The portion is huge! Definitely enough for two ladies. The only downside is the environment. It’s an old kopitiam, which gives it a nice vintage, traditional vibe but it’s very very hot 🥵 the cleanliness can also be improved. The attitude of the waitress and the boss is alright. Not very friendly but not rude either. I still go there quite often, and it’s my husband’s favourite whenever he comes to KK. We love the food so much that we’re willing see pass the hot environment 😅 Still highly recommended, especially to tourists 👍🏻 it’s absolutely worth a try!

Ordered Tuaran mee ayam lihing. I didn't expect it was gonna be the almost "basah" type, but it wasn't a problem. The lihing was quite strong, abit surprised, but I wanted it strong anyways. Chicken was roasted, tasted good until I forgot to cicah my lada. Cravings satisfied! There's also one shop that does tuaran mee lihing at delima, but if I'm not mistaken they put lihing in the fish soup instead on the noodle (serve no pork).

The owner decided to change the rice to garlic instead plain rice. Not a good combination for bkt and somehow taste not seems right as garlic rice is usually used for chicken rice. . There are three different soup base to choose from; dry bakkuteh, traditional and the pure thick Klang style bakkuteh. We ordered traditional clay pot bakkuteh rm16.50 per pax. San Sui Baru is a culinary treasure that has been delighting diners for over 30 years, renowned particularly for its mouthwatering noodle dishes. One standout item on the menu is the Tom Yam noodles, which feature a rich and spicy reddish broth brimming with succulent prawns and delicate rice vermicelli. Garnished with fresh parsley leaves, this dish offers an aromatic experience that truly enhances the flavors of the iconic Tom Yam soup.

This restaurant had been in the business for more than 30 years (of course not in the same shops) . There are 3 famous dishes which you must try if you happen to dine in. Prawn Tom Yum with vermicelli, Crystal chicken feet with Thai green papaya salad and Sizzling razor blade clamp. Why I review 4/5 stars, I believe most of the customer know that their service has no change for the last 30 years.. If the owner or the waitress smile when taking your order.. Consider your lucky day that day.

Used to be my go-to place for my favourite prawn tom yam mee hoon decades ago. Came back recently and tried the same dishes...the quality has deteriorated so badly that I couldnt finish the bowl of tom yam mee hoon. The mee hoon was still hard, the tom yam soup was so diluted that one couldnt taste the tanginess and spiciness of the tom yam soup. The prawns smelled like they were not fresh. The teh c was also so diluted. Basically, it was a lousy meal. I hope i wont get sick. Cant the bosses taste their own food before they serve to patrons as a mean to conduct quality check? They have fallen so far from their glory days. Not recommended.

Really want to thank you to the tonight service crews and chefs. Food was really yummy and my girlfriend really loves the mash potatoes, it was superb creamy and soft. The foods are really home cooked style but i really like it. The foods here are worth the price. Portion was big and huge too. Thank you for making our anniversary & Christmas dinner pleasant and wonderful. And thank you for making our tummy big and filled too 🫂 She's giving 9/10 for everything. And i am giving 11/10. Merry christmas and happy new year

HEAVENLY. Thats one word that explains my dish for tonight. Never have I ever tasted chicken corden bleu that has suuper tender chicken, not almost burnt on the outside, very flavourful and very runny cheese and believe me when I say I tasted countless chicken corden bleus. Thank you thank you thank you for letting my taste buds dance. Definitely recommended! Staff were very friendly and please give compliments to the chef. The atmosphere is very homie and cozy.

Beef goulash is excellent albeit localized. Only complain is not enough. The wrap is so so. The malaysian Sibu beer is not good. Chef is from Hungary. Will come again

Definitely 5 stars!! The service was great!! The food was fantastic with excellent flavors. The aroma when I was walking by got me to come and look at the menu. Especially because it's the only Hungarian restaurant in Malaysia. Cauliflower soup is delicious, Hungarian beef goulash....yummy. it also comes with mash potatoes, and I also started with hummus and veggies. Skander, my server, was great and really friendly, good customer. I would definitely recommend this place it was really good and delicious. Thank you!

Ordered Hungarian Chicken Special which had Grilled Chicken Breast topped with melted cheese and mushroom. With boiled potatoes. Chicken was juicy and well seasoned, potatoes was soft and well seasoned too. It was a gluten free meal. Atmosphere wise, it was noisy as its beside roadside. No AC was on but it had fan and it was airy enough. Chef seems like is from Hungary. Pretty authentic meal.

Fook Yuen Cafe & Bakery-Gaya Street is a popular spot in Kota Kinabalu known for its delicious coffee and bread. The cafe offers a variety of freshly baked pastries and bread, with the Roti Kahwin being a standout item. Open from early morning until midnight, it's a great place to grab breakfast or supper. The fluffy and soft white bread with butter and kaya is particularly recommended.
Discovered this lovely local gem while walking along Gaya St. This is definitely one of our KK favs. Simple but wholesome local kopitiam food without glam (hence at great prices) and perfectly brewed local iced-coffee! Please stop by!

this is another place that we're recommended by a local but found it not too right for us. their signature siu mai was only a steamed meat ball, the laksa was flat and others just so-so. kaya toast should have more kaya jam. the special tea that i got was OK. i think it's really a casual local restaurant but without any sparkling items.
Giami L — Google review
The space is not bad, and it is located on Gaya Street in the city center, close to the post office. There are many shops opposite, and there are many gifts. It is a good place to take time to stroll around. I think the food is okay, - generally。

Visited this place because it was highly recommended by many YouTubers. The roti kahwin (kaya butter toast) tasted quite ordinary, not something worth making a special trip for. The toast looked nicely browned but wasn’t warm, and the kaya and butter portions were just average. Other dishes, like the fried noodles and porridge, felt more like a 2 star hotel breakfast. The environment was quite noisy, and the number-calling bell kept ringing nonstop, it felt like an impatient girlfriend calling repeatedly. Overall, it’s good to experience once, but not worth revisiting again.

Laksa can order over the counter but incomparable with Sibu & Kuching Sarawak laksa. Fried noodle/bihun/rice can order from self service counter. Kaya butter Bread toast can order over the counter and you could get additional fried egg, luncheon meat over the self service counter to make your own customized sandwich.

This has to be the worst food I had in KK, Sabah. The chicken tastes really salty and the rice is bland even it look thick in picture. About ABC ice, the Lychee has a sour taste to it, just like expired from a can! Table isn’t even whipped or cleaned well, self service on water. I have really bad experience here, avoid it at all cost! The only good thing about this restaurant is their system functions, & food order server has good attitude.

I think some visitors to here need to wind their necks in a little complaining about staff. The staff are lovely beautiful people and some even can hold a tune singing haha. So kind and helpful. Steak house
Brass Monkey Cafe & Bar, located in Kota Kinabalu, is a popular and slightly pricey steakhouse known for its Western cuisine and event space. This halal restaurant is well-liked for its generous portions of beef and lamb sourced from Australia and New Zealand. The honey mustard chicken is a must-try specialty here. Reviews highlight the delicious steaks, friendly service, and pleasant ambiance. While some suggest room for improvement in the side dishes, overall feedback has been positive.
I was very satisfied with the meal here today. The steak was medium I ordered, and my son ordered spaghetti again because it was delicious. I couldn't forget to congratulate my husband's birthday.

My first dine in experience here just OK for me. The tenderloin steak I ordered was ok but nothing really special about it. The taste just nice mashed potatoes was good smooth but the only thing I felt a bit rare when serving local vege as substitute for lettuce as side dish for the steak 😆 haha something new for me which I would prefer fresh raw vege like coleslaw or tomato, peas rather than the cook ones 🫠. Overall I give 5/10 A bit overpriced for me. Not preferable for me on any special occasion for myself 😬🤗
Infinity F — Google review
I had been looking forward to trying Brass Monkey for a long time, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite disappointing. The appetizers were just average. The soup tasted like canned Campbell’s, lacking both mushroom texture and aroma. The Thai seafood salad was overwhelmed by its sauce, masking the freshness of the ingredients. The mixed grill didn’t fare much better. The lamb was overcooked and bland, while the chicken chop, though tender and well-cooked, was let down by a mismatched sauce. The biggest letdown, however, was the kids’ meal. I ordered fish and chips, but it turned out to be generic frozen supermarket fish sold at RM20. Completely unacceptable for the price and place like this. I’ve tried 20 to 30 old-school Western restaurants around Sabah over the years, many with real nostalgic charm and solid food. Sadly, Brass Monkey ranks as one of the weakest among them. Honestly, it’s barely on par or even worse than Upperstar.

My family and I have been eating here ever since a long, long time ago, and every visit feels just as special as the first. The deco hasn’t changed much , it is still cozy, welcoming, and filled with that familiar warmth that makes you feel right at home. Even after a decade, the menu remains the same, and that’s exactly what makes this place so nostalgic!!🥹 My usual order has always been the ribeye steak, tender and cooked perfectly to my liking. Not to forget the iconic mushroom soup, always rich and comforting. The banana fritters are still incredibly good — crispy on the outside, soft inside and the chocolate cake is simply extralicious! Oh and their new pudding was something to fight for as well!! Every visit brings back wonderful memories of family dinners and laughter shared around the table. Truly, what a wave of nostalgia! Thank you, Uncle Raja, for keeping Brass Monkey as warm and wonderful as ever. Wishing you continued success and may your business keep growing and prospering always! ❤️

It was our first time dining at this restaurant with my family, and we were impressed by the excellent service provided by the staff. They were very friendly and made sure to check if everything with our food was okay. My dad particularly enjoyed the lamb sauce and kept praising it. The meats we ordered, including salmon, mixed platter, and Angus beef, were all incredibly juicy and tender. We were pleasantly surprised when they also served us two or three complimentary pandan jelly during our visit. The mushroom soup, although not shown in the picture, also tasted okay. While some might find the prices a bit high, we felt that they were justified considering the overall experience and the delicious food they offered. 😊

We’ve come to this restaurant many times. From the owner to the crews, everyone is very welcoming and helpful. If you ask about the food, they’re able to answer basic questions. And the best part: the beverages and food are always available—never out of stock. We had a bad experience at another place that claimed to serve authentic food, but everything was out of stock. Then we came here to celebrate my son's birthday, and it healed his heart. The food is good, and the prices are affordable. We’ll definitely come here again. Our favorite dessert, ice cream with chocolate pudding 😋

My husband said this is the best meal he had in KK, he ordered the steak. It was cooked to perfection. We arrived at 10pm and was pleasantly surprised their kitchen could still accommodate us. Tried this place as I've never seen it in west Malaysia. The food quality was definitely on the lower side. Super basic menu, staff was also not as friendly as other western restaurants. Nothing much to expect.

Nice food. Carbonara taste good but the grill fish needs to have some improvement. Prefer tartar sauce instead of the mayo. I didn't dip in the sauce but requested a slice of lemon to squeeze it into the fish fillet. Just to reduce the muddy taste of dory. Fries are tasty and fresh. However the mashed potatoes were cold, I would prefer it come hot/warm.

Second time coming to this place, first time was 3 years ago and vaguly remembered it was good. Came on saturday night at 7, not too many people. Decided to give their fish fillet burger a try. Burger was hot and fillet is crispy. But the fries is looking quite sad. On top of that, the fish fillet is very fishy smell. I kinda preferred the burger to top off with tartar instead of just mayo because the fish smell. Over fair experience. Btw, ambient is good and upbeat music.

After a stroll along the waterfront, we found this restaurant, the only one open as it was Ramadan, and not many restaurants could be found serving food. The place looked good and overlooked the ocean, so it was a really good place to sit. We already knew we liked Thai food. The waiter was friendly and very helpful. We ordered: ● Kaow Ob Sapparod — 42.80 ● Tom Yam Wun Sen — 43.90 ● Fresh Lemon Juice — RM 15.90 ● Fresh Orange Juice — RM 15.90 Kaow Ob Sapparod is Pineapple Fried Rice, and we had it with chicken. It was so delicious. We specifically asked for them not to add fish sauce to the dish, and they didn't – perhaps they never add fish sauce. I would order that again. The Tom Yam Wun Sen was served with glass noodles and beef, and it was a clear, sour soup rather than the curry one. That's our favourite. We're not sure if that's how it comes every time, or if we got it that way because we requested it.

Went for the weekend dinner buffet. Not sure if it's the final one before the Ramadhan selection begins but I feel it was a bit ordinary compared to other Le Meridien buffets I've gone to. The food is okay, but I feel the selection is limited. Having said that, my favorite was the Chicken Stroganoff, Peking duck, Chicken Satay and the cakes. The drinks offered are only Coffee, Tea or Water. The biryani is a bit of a fail. All others are just meh okay la.

Le Meridien – Latest Recipe Food Review Thai Pineapple Fried Rice A generous serving of seafood fried rice featuring shrimp and squid, with just the right touch of spice. Each bite is packed with flavor—savory, aromatic, and delightfully bold. A dish that truly delivers on both taste and portion size. Salmon Steak Perfectly cooked salmon—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Served with a side of fresh sautéed vegetables and golden fried potatoes made from real, fresh-cut spuds. A well-balanced and satisfying main course. Banana Split A classic dessert done right. Fresh bananas paired with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream. Not overly sweet, making it a refreshing and enjoyable end to the meal.

Tried their most tempting Ramadan buffet; dishes were more towards heavily saltiness and sweet. Gearbox soup is awesome experience, but the mee soup is disgustingly salty. Though its seem lots of varieties, but they don’t refill the food.A pity for the late arrivals. Desserts are limited, soup base desserts are rather thick yet not tasty.and with this high price you still don’t find any Baskin Robins or Hagen-daez ice cream, but only ordinary ABC.and many food doesn’t heat hot enough. So less fruits, u only find jeruk dish(pickled fruits) the most.

Keng Wan Hing is a well-established restaurant located along Gaya Street, known for its delectable steamed and baked buns. With over a decade of operation, this eatery offers a variety of noodles, bao, and buns that are freshly made daily. The pineapple bun is particularly famous for its crunchy exterior and soft interior filled with buttery goodness.
A friend of mine recommended this place to me and I have come back every time I have the chance. The pastries are amazingly delicious and their price is cheap! I also liked that it has a traditional touch and that it has been around since 1984. It is very busy early in the mornings (around 7-8 am) so I would recommend going there around 9 am if you want to sit. Otherwise you can always take your order to take away and enjoy your breakfast next to the coast line with the views.

A hidden gem! We found this quaint eatery while walking around our hotel. Trying out local bakeries has been one of my favorite things when going on trip and we were lucky enough to spot Keng Wan Hing just near our hotel. They offer quite an assortment of bread from fried, baked, and even steamed. All of the bread we tried (and we tried a lot!), my favorites include the black sesame bread and beef curry bread. My partner on the other hand really enjoyed their buttermilk and peanut butter breads! We had to go back the following day just to order more while we were still at Kota Kinabalu. Do check them out as we also saw they offer some rice and noodle dishes aside from bread. We didn’t get to try but the locals seem to enjoy them!

Slightly overated. Food average. Drink average. Price acceptable for Gaya Street area. Self-service - order & pay at yhe cashier point, & pick up at food/drink counter. On Sunday morning, most of the regular customers will come & have their breakfast here

Most of the people queue here for their freshly baked sweet filled bread with various fillings like butter, red bean paste tau sar or some porky flavour char siew bun. Also, they have pineapple filling bun too, which can be sold out fast fresh from oven. For dine in patrons, they serve various noodle dishes. I did a few times dined in but i just prefer the buns and bread, the food here is as mediocre as other establishment nearby.
Ianhung L — Google review
Place: a classic style Chinese shop that specialises in buns, such as steamed buns (red bean paste, braised pork, big or small) eggs tarts, pineapple buns, etc. Expect the famous foods to be sold out by 9.30am, so the early bird catches the worm, or in this case, buns. Service: self order, self pick up, even for the food and drinks at the counter. They accept cash and duitnow. Food: I didnt get to try their famous egg tart. So, my review is only limited to what I have tried. 1. Wanton noodle: the noodles texture was very soft and sticky, making this a brand new experience taking wanton noodles that im used to. There is no pickled green chilli which im used to, so that's a down side for me. The dumpling filling was so tiny and the batter was huge. Verdict: average at best 2.5/5. 2. Beef noodles soup: the flavour here is power packed and rich with herbs. Excellent! The noodles are fairly standard. The beef slices are tender and fall off upon contact. Verdict: 4/5. 3. Pork noodles soup: the same soup used for the wanton dumplings soup is used here. Nothing special. Moving on. Verdict: 2/5. 4. Char siew pao: this steamed pork bun is clearly homemade, from the bread dough, to the fillings which are really lean! I love it. The slight lack of seasoning makes this experience somewhat wanting. Verdict: 4/5. Worth coming back for this again.

We initially thought we would have to pack these buns back to the hotel, but seeing available seats, we decided to dine in. It turned out to be a great choice! Among the items we tried, the pineapple bun (RM1.80) was a standout. Unlike the usual versions, which are either plain or butter-filled, this one had an actual pineapple-flavored filling. It truly lived up to its name—pineapple bun! The filling was refreshing and slightly tangy, making it unique and delightful. However, as shown in the picture, the buttery crust on top was quite crumbly and tended to fall apart after a bite, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. We also ordered a char siu bao (RM2.50), which was equally impressive. The filling was flavorful and well-balanced, encased in soft, fluffy dough. It was so good that we decided to pack more before leaving. We got the pork bun (RM2.50) and one egg tart (RM1.50) to enjoy later, and both were exceptional. The pork bun was juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor—an absolute must-try. The egg tart, however, completely stole the show. It was silky smooth, with a perfectly balanced sweetness and a crisp, flaky crust. I deeply regret packing only one because it was hands down better than any I’ve had in West Malaysia. And at such a reasonable price, it’s an unbeatable deal. This shop, established in 1984, has truly stood the test of time, and it’s easy to see why. Everything here was reasonably priced, and the quality lived up to the reputation of this old establishment. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this spot—it’s a gem for anyone who loves traditional buns and pastries. We will definitely return for more!

For four days in a row I had my morning coffee and a bun or three here. They are fresh, soft, with great flavours and a lot of filling. I have not tried anything else, but the pastry is 10/10! Come early as they only have as many!

Long queue at Bun's Corner, so we walked straight to Noodles/Drinks Counter to order our food. Its all self service. Had the curry mee..soup is sweet, no curry flavour, noodle is soggy and prawns are not fresh. Beef Beehoon broth is flavoursome but meat tasted overnight , all disintegrated. Queue for some pineapple buns to takeaway. Had the char siew bun, not that good, it didnt not have the char siew aroma! All in all not a good breakfast experience here !! Hope it gets better next visit !

Fish maw soup is thick and delicious. Seashell clear soup very fishy flavourful. Marmite sauce lamb the taste is unique. Yam basket that is very normal but still enjoy very much. We order black pepper lamb and still not as unique as Marmite. The sawi and salted egg bittergort just nice only. Nyonya style fish is amazing nice too. Salted egg prawn, the prawn fresh and the sauce is thick and finally steam chicken with shallot onion oil is delicious too. Just saying that I really enjoy my dinner and nothing to complaint about it.

One of the waiter is so rude.. look out for this Chinese looking female waiter, very impatient while explaining the menu. We arrived early but some of the people who arrived later than us get their food first.?! Overall the food is good. 👍🏻 The food was quite delicious 😋 Steam fish (grouper) was so tender and fresh. We ordered the Cantonese style soy sauce steam fish. 10/10 But for all carte , the fried rice with shrimp and chicken wrapped with lotus leaves was quite disappointing. I expected more of the fragrant of the rice.. for the moderate portion of fried rice, rm22.80 was considered expensive. Overall okay 👍

The Sembulan Lobster Restaurant is a popular Chinese restaurant in Singapore. The food is delicious, but it can take a long time for the dishes to arrive. If you plan to dine at this restaurant, be sure to book ahead!
The Mayo Chicken is too crispy/hard to chewed, hurt my palate. I request portion for 2 pax. Service fast because a few customer during my time. 20min food is served. Overall food delicious. 🫶🏼

This is my first-time here, and I'm glad I took a local's recommendation. The prices are very affordable and reasonable. While the seafood options are a bit limited, I still thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back!

Great food, affordable price, friendly staff. Parking area quite limited. Need to come early, or else no more seafood left 😋

Love the fact that all crab shells are adequately smashed earlier by chefs so that we don't have to spend much efforts trying to eat the crab meats!😍 the crab meats are thick and delicious! I dare to say it is much better than the jumbo seafood that i had in 🇸🇬 lol and it is way cheaper than SG! And i love how they prepare the mantis shrimps! U basically can peel the shrimps meat off easily, again no effort needed to peel the shell😍 All seafoods that we ordered tasted fresh, delicious and well worth the price!

Delicious food, friendly staff and reasonable price. Food is great, portion is nice, well recommended by the staff. Parking will be challenging on weekends, and prior booking is highly recommended for dining during weekends as well, as the waiting time might be long. The owner might want to consider to put extra fan outside as the wind/ventilation at outside dining a bit stuffy/hot. Overall it’s a god experience dining here.

Crab was fresh when we ordered it... it was a warm afternoon, but love the veg and the fried rice... will try again next time 🫰... But need to weigh the crab and see how heavy it is to customers. Trust and honesty are important 🫰.... oh and the cutter needs to change, not suitable to use when one wants to cut the crab... The fish seemed a bit pricey than usual even though its refrigerated?
Drama A — Google review
Food is delicious as usual. However, there was an incident where a wait staff threw a tantrum out of nowhere. It was worrying as it was a restaurant with knifes, fork etc. It went on for minutes. A few staff tried to calm him down. Maybe he had a mental issue or something because throughout our dinner, he can be seen pulling his hair, standing at the corner, talking to himself etc looking restless. What surprised me was he was allowed to continue serving right afterward — not only people were scared he might threw the food on the table, he was also seen pulling his hair all through our dinner which may cause a hygiene issue. Hope he gets the help he needs.

With seafood places, your experience varies depending on the person that decides what dish to order. In this case ... we probably could've done better, lol. Overall tasted pretty solid, would revisit to order other dishes. Probably my first time having prawns this huge, averaged out to be about RM20 per piece.

Breakfast restaurant
Coffee shop
Kedai Kopi Kim Hing Lee, established in 1982, has gained recognition for serving the best San Nguk Mian in KK. This dish features marinated pork on noodles with a saltier and stronger flavored soup base compared to the Kuching version of Cheng Noodles. The restaurant is known for its iconic Sabahan dish that originated in Tawau, featuring marinated pork on noodles.
This shop has been around since 1982, and stepping inside feels like taking a trip back in time. Located in the older area of Kota Kinabalu, Segama, the place retains its vintage charm with worn-out furniture. The chairs wobble a bit (mine kept shifting left and right!). Despite the worn-out surroundings, the food is truly tasty. If you’re looking for authentic sang Nyuk mee, this is where this legend food was invented! Must eat with the legendary chilli sauce.
Lulu31 — Google review
Had breakfast at Kedai Kopi Kim Hing Lee in Sabah and tried their signature soup and noodles. I went with the Kueh Teow noodles and pork slice soup — the broth was flavorful and the pork was tender, making it a comforting and satisfying dish. The shop has that classic kopitiam charm, and the service was fast despite being quite busy. However, we did feel that the price was a bit overpriced for what we got. While the taste was decent, it didn’t fully justify the higher-than-expected cost, especially for a local eatery. Worth a try if you’re in the area, but just keep the pricing in mind.
Rhonda S — Google review
We were brought to this old school Sang Yuk Noodle shop where they have a long history. Taste wasn’t too bad but slightly on the milder side compared to the one I had in KL. the only let down is that the preparation were all done by foreigners. But this is a must try place if you are looking for some local food here in KK.
Remy N — Google review
Just a coffee shop off the main road known mostly to local this serves only sheng rou mian 生肉面 aka fresh pork mee. The cheapest is rm 11.50 going up to 17.50. There’re the soup or dry version but most people have the dry version. The soup tasted similar to the Kuching kolo mee - a bit sour but full of meat flavor. Pork slices are thin and not chewy. Intestines and liver are cooked to perfection too. I’d like to return one day to try others like pork tendons and kidneys.
C S — Google review
My friend recommended this shop for me to try sang yuk mee and it's around 10 minutes walk from the hostel I stayed. The taste of the noodle and the meat met my expectations. Although the noodle is slightly oily, I assumed that's how it's supposed to be. On top of that, there are some fried pork lard in the noodle which added more flavour and texture. The meat is tender and the seasoning of the soup is just right for me as it's not too salty with some umami tastes from the meat. However, I gave 4 stars as the normal portion is too small and it's priced at RM12.20. You could get meal with bigger portion with this price range. Overall, it's worth a try but I would explore other options available.
Zhengfeng A — Google review
Just a normal looking coffeeshop but the main thing we're here is for the food. Easily one of the best "Sang Nyuk Mee" in KK.
Dan — Google review
The restaurant gives you a nostalgic feeling and they definetly retained their old school vibe. Noodles was very flavorful, pork was tender and the soup was tasty. Overall a good bowl of pork noodles in the KK area.

Mdm Ing Fish Noodle in Penampang is a must-visit for seafood lovers, especially those craving delicious fish noodle dishes. This charming eatery offers an array of noodles paired with various flavorful broths, including clear soup, tom yum, and creamy options. The highlight here is the use of fresh fish that’s carefully selected and cooked with aromatic spices to create satisfying meals.
A nice place for fish noodle lovers. Ham Choi with tomato soup base is a must try. We get to choose from a variety of soup base, different kind of fish we like fresh/fried can event identify specific fish parts (head,stomach..), different type of noodles (mee/beehoon/horfun) soup or dry and add in any extra fish cakes , fishball etc. literally create your very own personal bowl of fish soup noodles 🤭 Will we come back again? Of course! (Ps: price on the high side, average Rm25~30/bowl)
Yahui L — Google review
Im just impressed with their service faster than the fast food outlets we have here! However, a bit dissapointed with their ham choy mee hoon soup, taste bland had to squeez few slices of lime and cili potong to improve the taste. The regular asli soup was ok. Choice of soup they have bitter gourd, tomato, ham choy & asli/original.
Jude R — Google review
Ordered their preserved vegetable soup without noodle. Soup is light but flavourful. There are plenty of fish noodle soup shops in Kota Kinabalu while this one is usually frequented by local. They have different varieties of soup base.
Kin W — Google review
Seems our group of 4 were this mprning was unduly 'fleeced' by an over-zealous order taker. Was shocked that my bowl of mix of fidh noodle, fuchok, fishball n fish alone cost RM31. i have taken in 'higher' n more well known fish places with aircon n fresher fidh, which was much less. We are not tourists. One error - money not the major problem but INTEGRITY. Been here quite a few times before but unlikely to visit again. Very disappointing.
GRACE L — Google review
Upon my recent visit, I must say that the restaurant served a selection of dishes that left me with a mixed impression. Although the fish served was okay, I couldn't help but feel that it lacked the freshness that one would expect from a fish specialist. Nevertheless, the hamchoi soup was pleasingly light and satisfying, without any discernible issues. The dry noodle, while not particularly outstanding, was still enjoyable in its own right. One aspect of the meal that definitely stood out was the chili sauce. Its delectable aroma of garlic and chili oil paired with lime juice made for an impeccable blend of flavors that truly enhanced the overall experience. As for the atmosphere of the restaurant, it boasted a pleasantly airy setting with tables that were thoughtfully spaced out to ensure comfort and privacy for diners. Overall, it's not worth RM20 for this fish noodle soup.

Another makan-makan spot that only served fish for breakfast, Muslim friendly coffeeshop (Serve No Pork). It's a standard non air-conditioned coffee shop with indoor & outdoor table seating. Food served hot upon order & fast service too. Soup base to choose from, salted veg tomatoes soup, bitter gourd soup or chinese mustard green (chinese mustard green upon availability) the garlic bird eyes chili very 👍👍👍spicilicous 👍👍👍Price are from affordable to expensive, depending on the request. May ask the price from the staff upon ordering. Always crowded.

What a fantastic eating experience! Good old-fashion salted veggie soup with bihun noodle, bitter gourd added, with yu wat and fish skin - or slices of quality fish that you want to pick. The guy who took our order some English, Malay, Chinese and Cantonese, so our orders were expertly taken. A delicious breakfast indeed! No tourists that we could see.

Honestly my first time here. Been hearing about this place for a while. Very clean, attentive staff and the food is prepared piping hot. Nok Thai Restaurant is a popular spot known for its delicious dishes like pineapple rice, pad Thai goong, green curry, tom yum, and papaya salad. The restaurant caters to vegetarians and can adjust the spice levels for those who prefer milder flavors. Operating daily from 11 am to 10:30 pm, it offers a cozy and clean ambiance with friendly staff. While some find the food slightly pricey, many rave about the quality of the dishes.
Love the food here. Authentic and one of the pioneer Thai restaurants in Sabah. No appointments, so you have to walk in to secure your table. Weekends mostly crowded during dinner time. Their green curry and tomyam is a must try. They have set menu too, suitable for solo or 2 pax.
Khin C — Google review
An authentic Thai experience, place is well known for KK-ians for a long time now. Been serving good, tasty thai food cooked and managed by a thai family. I had their signature Pad Thai which comes in a portion for 2 and only costs RM20 with a chinese tea. They also served me with a free very soft cendol in sweet savoury coconut milk after the meal which was amazingly delicious. Price wise very value for money and taste wise very good. I’d recommend this place for many to come.

absolutely love their food! Always here for their Mango Deep Fried Siakap, fried to perfection and the mango+sauce is so delish and they ain't stingy on the mango sauce, other items was really good as well especially those dishes cooked with prawns, prawns was so fresh and then the amount was amazing! Overall price is fairly reasonable, worth the visit👍🏼

All food ordered really delicious. My wife and daughter request the TomYam & Green Curry not hot. Amazing the chef able to do customer’s Request. The only diwnaide was the steamfish came out a bit late, almost spoil the mood. But the steam fish compensate on it’s taste. Well sone

Started with confusion. Apparently we ordered using their "new" menu book. whilst the waitress referred to their "old" menu book. Finally sorted out and the waitress knew what we wanted to order. The restaurant has old look. Toilet is ok. But no water coming out from the faucet. The counter only receives payment by cash/QR. If we use credit card, had to go to another table manned by a senior male. All food were nice and tasty though. Free cendol was served at the end of our meal. Price is affordable.

Been here so many times over the years. Clean and ambient environment with air-conditioning. Always a delightful Thai feast when we drop by and the food is always so consistent. My favourites are the mango salad with fried fish, pandan chicken (must-try), green beef curry, white seafood tom yam (must-try) and crab cakes (sadly no longer available 😭). Today I ordered the papaya salad and prawn cakes. The papaya salad is such a zesty, crunchy blend of shredded green papaya, lime, and chili that bursts with bold, tangy heat. It goes so well with fluffy white rice that I asked for more rice. Definitely give this place a go.
Jiaming — Google review
A good choice for Thai cuisine. Most dishes pack a flavour punch, and are executed well. The papaya salad is a light, tangy and refreshing dish to order with your mains. Fish is cooked well and boasts good flavours. The bowl of chendol at the meal is a nice touch to end the meal.
Nikki — Google review
I'm rating it 5 star as the food is simply authentic Thai. Excellent cuisine that is very consistent despite several visits. Dont expect much from service as the owner and old waitress are not friendly. Hardly smile. The atmosphere is back in the 70's however the restaurant is very clean.

Yu Hing Restaurant is a local gem that captures the essence of traditional dining with its delightful offerings. While some may arrive with high expectations, the experience can be pleasantly surprising. The seafood claypot stands out as a must-try dish, brimming with fresh ingredients and showcasing strong wok hei flavors. Accompanying it, the Cai Xin with pork also garners praise for its simplicity and taste. The restaurant's ambiance reflects a typical Zhu Chao shop vibe, making it a favorite among locals.
Very good beautfort mee with big fresh prawn. Highly recommended

Decided to try this restaurant after reading positive reviews on KK food blogs. The food quality was decent, but the pricing felt steep considering we only ordered three dishes: claypot seafood ($120), vinegar pork($65), and fried choy sum($35) for our group of four.
Wander M — Google review
Food is decent and portions are big, but a bit on the pricey side. The owner’s attitude isn’t the friendliest—so unless you really can’t resist his food, probably better to detour 😅
Lee M — Google review
Having read about the rave reviews I have very high expectations of the food and maybe that's why I felt a little underwhelmed when I had it. First of all the service wasn't as bad as some of the reviews mentioned. The uncle served us promptly and normal like any restaurant staff. The seafood claypot was indeed good with a generous portion of seafood. Also strong wok hei. It was nice but not something that wowed us. The Cai xin with meat was also highly recommended, I find it as good as the seafood claypot. The price is definitely very high, for this price range I think there are many better alternatives.

Very good food, shop easy to locate at hilltop main street. Maybe a little difficult to look for a parking spot but manageable if you go earlier. Kitchen last order around 745pm which is quite early for many, so be there earlier to avoid disappointment. Price is on the higher end but worth the price. Overall good. Been there for years, you know it’s good.

Friendly uncle who helped me with order. The vege with pork was lit! It has lotsa wok hei, great with rice. The other dishes- noodles with siu yuk was also filled with wok hei. Fish slices single portion was more mild in taste after I take the prior dishes. The fish has some solid texture

When you find yourself in Kota Kinabalu, make sure to indulge in the delightful experience of Fatty Ngau Chap, a dish that translates to "mixed beef." This hearty bowl features tender noodles swimming in a rich and thick beef broth, accompanied by an assortment of beef cuts including succulent slices, flavorful beef balls, and even some tripe for those adventurous eaters. It's a beloved local favorite that can be enjoyed at various restaurants throughout the city.
I tried their beef with kolo noodles, and the generous toppings definitely justified the price (just RM13 per bowl). A satisfying and value-for-money meal!

This place does beef noodles in the morning and western food in the evening, and now they’ve added chicken rice too. Tried it, but honestly, it was disappointing. The meat didn’t look good, and the taste wasn’t great compared to other chicken rice spots. I had it both dine-in and takeaway, and the taste was inconsistent. Just didn’t hit the mark for me.

Had mixed ngiu chap kon lau mee, big portion soup really nice with the labu(white pumpkin) just a tard little sweet to my liking. 7 out of 10 la.
Jude R — Google review
Beef slice is soft snd tender. Soup lacks the umami flavour.
Lilian C — Google review
Came here on Sunday noon 12.15 , all the farm chicken (B) is sold out, they have only the free range chicken (A) left which is more expensive (rm 14 for mixed chicken rice) Very disappointing, the portion for chicken is very less for an adult, might be enough for a kid. However, the chicken rice is flavourful, not to mention their soup, very yummy. Low rating for the small chicken portion. The beef mihun soup is very yummy .. recommended

In addition to the popular Tom Yam offerings, they also serve unique dishes like Salted Vegetable Fish Soup and Bitter Gourd Soup.

Great restaurant located conveniently beside the main road, I love the open air settings so it doesn’t feel too hot, plus they have plenty of big kipas so you get to enjoy some cool air. Ordered Kuey Teow Goreng, I love the wok hei flavour, I forgot how much it was but it was good. I do think the Tom Yam soup doesn’t taste like how it usually it tastes but is still good. As for the Mee Tuaran, it’s good too! I think they accept QR and cash for payment method, not sure for card. Plenty of parking spaces as well don’t worry! Will definitely come again if I come to Tuaran again. Service is great too! Overall 9/10.

I heard this viral store so I give it a try. I order konlau mee with Tom Yum soup and Fried Tuaran Tom Yum mee with chicken. The fried noodles Tom Yum 4/5🌟 the tom yum taste is sure not as strong to it's counterpart soup but a plus point is the chicken because served like chicken rice serving. But the konlau mee with Tom Yum soup is 5/5 🌟 because the soup taste is strong concentrate and thick soup, amazing. I will come again. Keep up the good job 👍.

Kantin Bakut, situated en route to KM and just beyond Telipok Town, offers a quick pit stop with a variety of local delights. Famous in Tom Yam dishes, including Noodles Soup, Seafood, Fried Rice, Fried Noodles, and Fried Pan Mee. However, my experience with the Seafood Tom Yam and Tom Yam Fried Rice left me with mixed feelings. While the vibrant orange presentation caught the eye, the flavors tended towards the salty side, not aligning with my personal preference. The Tuaran Fried Mee, unfortunately, offering a taste that was rather ordinary. Conveniently, Kantin Bakut caters to modern preferences with online payment options such as QRPay and Boost, ensuring a hassle-free transaction for those who prefer cashless transactions.

When exploring the culinary landscape of Sabah, one must not miss out on Ngiu Chap, a delightful mixed beef noodle dish that embodies the region's rich flavors. This signature dish features a robust beef broth paired with vermicelli rice noodles and an assortment of tender beef cuts, including balls, tripes, and even organ meats for the adventurous eater.

They really cannot handle many orders. Get their orders wrong. The cook took such a long time to prepare a simple nasi goreng. Totally bad service and very bad manners when trying to justify their mistakes. Workers were rude and didn't want to help get my order. The owner should check his worker's work quality. I have been to many restaurants and rated hundreds of places. I have rarely given 1-star rating but this restaurant's service was the worst. They should learn how to handle customers' orders correctly and train themselves to work when many people are at their shop. If this bad service continues, i would not be surprised if their shop closes in 1 year time.

The price is very reasonable, we ordered ngiu chap mihun. The mihun is not that much but they do give a lot of meat, tendon, stomach, and meatball. This restaurant is located next to a furniture store and a car repair shop. Parking is not too bad, it really depends on the time of day. The service is very friendly and quick. There is a self-service area for utensils, condiments and tissue paper. They do provide a stainless steel mug, which you can fill up with hot water to sanitize the utensils such as spoons, chopsticks, fork and spoon and sauce plates. They also provide calamansi if you want to add some citrus into your soup or chili sauce. There are also several cats that would come over meowing for food while you are eating. The chicken chop kon lau mee is very delicious, the portion for both noodles and chicken is generous, chicken is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

All Desa products are here including cheeses..Plus they also have frozen stuff like satay, lamb and beef. They also have some spices and veggies. Overall a good place to shop and so far all their chicken is very fresh. High recommended 👌
Sheilla D — Google review
Chicken and beef are always fresh here. Slightly expensive than other store but considering the freshness and quality it is worth the price. Desa milk and cheese are also available here. They do have frozen food stock from other brands and sauce or spices too. Vegetables are also available here so quite a good place to get your groceries done in a jiffy.

Restoran Tenom Mee is a popular spot known for its Hakka dish, Tenom Mee. The dish features delicious Hakka noodles that are versatile enough to pair with various toppings or enjoy on their own. The restaurant is often crowded in the mornings, but patrons agree that the wait is worthwhile. Their signature dish, Tenom Style Fried Noodles, showcases flat noodles with a smooth and QQ texture, complemented by ingredients like char siu and lean meat.
My No.1 spot for char siu and roast chicken rice combo with chicken curry. I believe its one of a kind combo and taste delicious. I will come at least twice a week to satisfy my craving. Other than that, their tenom mee is good too. Always wanted to try but couldn't get through my cravings. Update: Tried their hor fun beef noodles, probably the best I've ever tried at KK.
Nelson L — Google review
Very popular. Said to be the authentic tenom mee shop. A must to try for tenom mee. All tables in the restaurant were taken when we arrived at about 12.15pm on a Sunday morning and got #4 to queue. Waited about 10 minutes before being given a small table on the five foot way. The tenom mee is good, not fantastic. The pork stew was nice but the char siew is ok only (eaten better ones).

Will definitely return. Great place if you’re craving authentic local kopi and classic breakfast at a reasonable price. Favourite the wet tenom mee.(non halal)
Musa M — Google review
Came to try their Tenom mee goreng, the texture of the noodle is not the springy type. Like the egg springroll, char siew average, vinegar pork knuckle lacks sourness. Best was the sour vegetable soup which was on the house. Service was fast and good. Crowded eatery
YC K — Google review
Amazing Char Siew! 👍🏼 1) Super amazingly nice Char Siew rice. 2) The Char Siew sauce is superb! 3) Fast services. The team manages the queue line quite fast. 4) Reasonable prices 👎🏼 5) Tenom Mee, the taste is subjective. Not everyone's liking. 6) The spring roll is average.

Well known for their Tenom Style Fried Noodles, I opted for the Noodle Soup with BBQ pork and Soy Sauce Chicken, and it was delicious. Their signature flat noodle, boasting a perfectly smooth and QQ texture that left me craving more. The BBQ pork was sweet and tender, with just the right amount of fat, while the Soy Sauce Chicken was soft, juicy, and had a perfect hint of soy sauce. Additionally, they offer a variety of local kuih, cakes, pastries, meatballs, egg rolls, and even fresh fruits. It's a place where you can savor both delicious main dishes and delightful snacks.
Lee M — Google review
The tenom fried noodles with BBQ pork and chun gen are very delicious, you can taste the wok-hei flavor. It comes with lots of thick slices of BBQ pork The price is reasonable and the portions are generous. The wat tan ho is also very tasty, the portion is even larger than tenom fried mee. It also has the wok hei flavor too. The kon lau mee is pretty good too. We also tried the pig's feet which are very tasty as well, portions might seem small at first but there were very few bones. It was very tender and flavorful.
Chung L — Google review
It's ok. Additional curry spices are required, as well as additional wine to the Pork Vinegar, which is slightly sweet. However, service is quite fast here although crowded.

Very satisfying 'Wok Hei' Fried meehoon with Fried fish slice. Paired well with sambal chili. Foo pi is a must try👍👍👍 Just some flies will randomly fly around.

After a long time away, I recently revisited K.K See You Seafood Restaurant—and I’m happy to say the Tom Yam still tastes as delicious as I remember. Back in the day, I used to come here often for breakfast, always ordering their signature Mihun Tom Yam Prawn. To this day, I still believe their Tom Yam Prawn is one of the best in town. The flavor is rich, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice and sourness, and the prawns are always fresh and generous in portion. It’s rare to find a place that maintains quality and consistency over the years, but this spot definitely does. If you're craving a comforting bowl of Tom Yam that hits the spot every time, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Open air restaurant. Food is very good and delicious. We had the assam pedas fish, salted egg bitter gourd, butter prawn and sayur manis. Highly recommended for family dining. Price is also reasonable. Staff is very friendly. I'll definitely will come to dine in again.

This plate of fried fish costs RM50 , an additional RM25 on top of the advertised price in the menu. We thought the price was all-in when we were asked if to include fish stomach, only we realised the price was doubled when the bill came. My advice to the shop owner: you should upfront to your customers if the price is varied from the menu.

Decent selection from the menu from a'la carte single person meal to cooked dishes for 10. They have their signature Tom Yam and are also known for their Salted Egg Bitter Gourd, Oyster Omelette, butter prawns and other delicious Chinese style cooking and dishes. Serves no pork, but they do serve alcohol. Staff are generally helpful and knows about the menu. Prices are standard for these kind of Chinese Restaurants so no surprises there. 4 star rating from me because personally had some bad experience with the staff here and food was sometimes slow, quite inconsistent.

35Fatt Kee Seafood Restaurant

Restaurant
Nestled in the scenic Hilltop area of Kota Kinabalu, Fatt Kee Seafood Restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers. This charming eatery specializes in delectable fish noodles, allowing diners to customize their bowls with an array of fresh options like fish fillet, skin, and head. The menu also features enticing dishes such as Tom Yum Prawn and Tomato-Based Mix Mee Hoon Soup that are packed with flavor—though some may find them on the saltier side.
This restaurant, located on the 3rd floor of Suria Sabah, is a highly recommended spot often mentioned on platforms like XHS, known for its fresh fish dishes. I was a bit surprised when I arrived, as the dining area resembled a food court with shared tables. However, the setup is unique—you can only order food from the specific stall in front of you, even though the space is open and other stalls selling items like hotpots and dim sum are within view. It felt slightly restrictive, but we decided to focus on their signature offerings. We ordered their famous Tomato Soup with Mixed Fish, priced at RM13.50 for a regular portion. The soup was exceptional—rich, tangy, and incredibly aromatic. It was served piping hot, which made it even more comforting. The noodles absorbed the flavorful broth perfectly, making every bite enjoyable. However, because I chose the mixed fish option, it included various fish parts with bones, which made eating a bit tricky. For those who prefer a fuss-free experience, I’d recommend opting for the version with fish slices instead. We also tried their Fried Meehoon with Fish Slices, priced at RM25. While it was more expensive, the dish was delicious. The meehoon was well-fried, with a smoky “wok hei” flavor, and the fish slices were tender and boneless, making it easier to eat compared to the mixed fish in the soup. Additionally, we ordered a platter of fried snacks (Combo Mix), priced at RM16, which included fried wontons, tofu balls, crispy bean curd, and seafood tofu. While everything was tasty, this platter isn’t something I’d say you must try unless you’re looking to add variety to your meal. The portions were generous, and I found the regular size for the noodle soup to be more than enough. If you have a larger appetite, they also offer a large size. The service was friendly, and the overall cleanliness of the place was impressive. However, the seating arrangement can be slightly inconvenient, especially if you’re dining with friends who might want to order from other stalls nearby—you’re limited to ordering from this specific stall once you sit in their area. Despite this minor issue, I’d say this place is worth visiting, especially for the Tomato Soup, which truly lives up to the hype.

Fatt Kee offers an authentic Sabahan curry noodle experience. We tried the Tom Yam noodles. For about RM30-40.00 per bowl, you get something close to curry laksa but comes with generous slices of garoupa. Really good 👍🏼

Love the tomyum and tomato soup. Just take the set! Kuey teow and nasi goreng was good too! The tom yum is different and the taste is just too good!

Arrive early but server not come, just passing by taking other customer order. Waited 15 minutes while staff just pass us. (Not peak hour). Konlo mee still keras and rice given is “kerak”. Very bad experience. Will never come again.
Tracy E — Google review
Food quality has dropped. The famous tomato soup is not as concentrated as before. Fish scales are not properly removed. The tom yum soup was good. The price was a bit too high.
Ed — Google review
If you’re visiting town, Fatt Kee Seafood Restaurant is a must-try! Known for serving one of the most famous fish soups around, this spot offers a unique and flavorful experience. Don’t miss the Tom Yum soup, but be prepared—this isn’t your typical Thai or Peninsular Malaysia version. It’s a delightful fusion of tom yum, coconut, and spices, leaving you wondering whether it leans more towards asam pedas or curry. The flavor is truly one-of-a-kind! Highly recommended for adventurous food lovers and tourists alike!
Fadzlina Z — Google review

The friendly service from the Auntie adds to the welcoming atmosphere of this eatery.
Not trying to glaze but OH MY DAYS DO I LOVEEE THIS PLACE! This place is actually so DAMN GOOD like it's so underrated. The sotong is so SO GOOD like the sambal is moderately spicy and the squid is so soft and flavour is so good. The fish is also so good I highly recommend and finally their fried dumplings are also bussing. Overall a good and underrated spot for dinner at a cheap price. 10/5 no drama

Ordered: Pan fried pork Guo Tie 🥟 10 for RM 12. Pricier than most. Ladyboss and uncle don't do the cooking. They handle payments. 🥟: Filling is juicy, lots of veggies inside for crunch but too salty. ❌ It doesn't come with a corn starch skirt unlike Kinamount's 🥟. ❌ Skin is chewy, soft and soggy even for the pan fried version. ‼️ If they made it crispier, it would be perfect. 🫙: Vinegar garlic 🧄 dipping sauce is too garlicky and doesn't have enough sourness. ⏰ Closes late. Still available at 11pm. Wouldn't return.

For me, until this time still their steam and fried dumpling were juicy inside. Never change all this time, mostly consistent. Dumpling 10/10 🌟. Others such as fried noodles and sting rays are just typical above average delicious 😋. There is nothing for me to complain about. At the end of the dinner, still i enjoy my meal.

I came here and ordered a plate of Singapore Fried BeeHoon and a plate of x10 dumplings. The beehoon had no curry flavor at all and was too dry, it was just a regular plate of fried beehoon. As for the dumplings, they were way too salty that it burned my throat. I forced myself to eat five, but the remaining five were just impossible to finish. To be honest, I hadn’t come here in years because of issues like this. I came back today hoping things had improved, but it turned out to be even worse. I won’t be coming back again.

Must order dishes: 1. Fish sauce mihun (so flavourful and fragrant as they added shrimps in it. WOK HEI!) 2. Steam dumpling meat (Chives is so so) 3. Chicken wing 4. Grilled sting ray
Charlene Y — Google review
NOT AS IT USED TO BE… Not recommended to come anymore. The dumplings aren’t well made. All of them sticks to one another forming clumps which will break whenever picked up with spoons or chopsticks. (Dumpling skin got problem…) Dumpling 🥟 filling: Bad. Tastes yummy but too little of it. Feels like biting into a balloon instead of dumpling. Crispy meehoon: it is indeed crispy, but it is too bland 🫤 not much taste to it. I wont really recommend any friend coming for now, until they improved to at least match their previous quality.

I want to share my authentic personal experience and provide insights about what could be improved. During what was meant to be a special family dinner, we encountered several significant issues with the food preparation. The crab dish was particularly problematic. The crab was excessively coated in batter, seemingly intended to be crispy, but the result was an unappetizing, soggy texture that completely overwhelmed the seafood's natural flavor. Even more concerning was the steamed fish. The fish was undercooked—a critical issue not just at our table, but apparently affecting more than 3 different dining groups that evening. It was almost hilarious to watch people sending their fish back to the kitchen again and again, highlighting a clear problem with quality control. On a positive note, I will acknowledge that the seafood itself was fresh. The crab and fish appeared to be of good quality, which makes the poor preparation even more disappointing. While this is a negative review, I hope it serves as constructive feedback that could help the restaurant improve its food preparation and overall dining experience. But would I ever come back again? Sorry, nope.
Matt T — Google review
Seafood is overall fresh but the taste is either lacking or over powering. Mantis prawn with garlic and chili was the worst and the most expensive dish. Lack of seasoning and the chili and garlic did absolutely nothing to the prawn. Steam lala has a very strong sesame oil. Tasted like i am eating pure sesame oil in every bite to the lala. Stir fried brinjal is tasteless and looks even unappealing. Overall, I felt so much can be improved for sure a strategic located restaurant

Had the Build Your Lunch set hat comes with soup and drink of your choice. Paid RM28.20. The Cucumber was spicy, has a vinegar taste. The eggplant is cook with salted fish and has minced chicken. Fried chicken was tender. Rice was nicely cooked. Lemon tea need to stir, it's good too. The soup is a good finish coz it clears all the saltiness from salted fish. Overall this was great 👍🏼. Don't mind ordering again.

We went to this restaurant during Chinese New Year, expecting it to be busy, but the experience turned out to be really disappointing. I get that CNY is a hectic time, but the service was just not up to par. The food took forever to come out. We waited ages just for the first dish, which was soup. A couple more dishes came out after that, but then everything just stopped. We sat there waiting again, and by the time the rest of the food finally arrived, our rice was completely cold. At that point, we were all pretty annoyed. Things got worse when we decided to cancel the last dish that never showed up. When we went to pay, the waiter insisted it had already been served, even though our whole group of people knew it hadn’t. The waiter was so confident, claiming a specific staff had brought it out, and it felt like we were being accused of lying. It was really frustrating and unnecessary. After some arguing, the cashier finally agreed to take the dish off the bill. Later, the in charge checked our table and admitted the dish hadn’t been served, apologizing for the mix-up. But by then, the whole situation had already left a bad taste in our mouths. While they did sort it out in the end, the whole experience was just so off-putting. Between the long waits, cold food, and being accused of something we didn’t do, it felt like the restaurant just wasn’t prepared to handle the crowd. It’s a shame because we were really looking forward to the meal, but this experience has made me think twice about going back. Rating: **2/10** (They fixed it, but the frustration stuck with us.)

Had lunch on Friday 5 Sep at 1.20pm, a public holiday. Only 2 tables occupied. We were told that the live fish we wanted steamed was more than 1 kg which we thought was too much for us, 2 pax. Roslee, their service staff, recommended the braised fish slice instead. Enjoyed that very much. Egg omelette with shrimp, broccoli mushroom and ginger onion ostrich all cooked to our liking. Not too salty nor overly oily. The Small portions for each dish we ordered were more than enough for 2 pax. Roslee was very helpful and friendly. Our lunch at New Gaya Seafood Restaurant was one of the best meals we had in Kota Kinabalu.

Market
The Api Api Night Food Market at Gaya Street in Kota Kinabalu is a vibrant weekly market that showcases the local culture and cuisine. Visitors can indulge in a variety of Malay dishes such as dumplings, handmade curry, Korean chicken, and more. The market also offers an array of drinks, fruits, and handicrafts made by locals.
Stumbled upon this stall at the pasar malam, and they sell avocado milk drinks. This cup, priced at RM16, might seem a bit pricey at first, but it’s absolutely worth every cent! The aroma of the avocado is incredibly rich, and when combined with the milk, it creates a smooth and refreshing taste. The texture is creamy yet light, with just the right level of sweetness that doesn’t feel overwhelming. Every sip is packed with the natural flavor of avocado, making it feel like you’re drinking pure health in a cup. This kind of drink is rare at pasar malam, making it a standout find. The portion size is very generous, and the large cup really surprised me. For RM16, the quality and quantity are completely justifiable. The packaging is also fun and unique, featuring the quirky “Cool Mama” design, which adds an extra charm to the overall experience. If you happen to visit this night market, don’t miss out on this stall’s avocado milk drink! From the flavor to the portion and quality, it’s highly recommended. This is a drink that leaves a lasting impression, and I’ll definitely come back for more next time!

This is a nice place to grab food or experience the culture of Malaysia. The food is good, and the people are nice. This is a very crowded and popular market, and be prepared to eat some very spicy foods. Also, bring a decent amount of money to try things, but stuff is relatively cheap. ($8 for a whole plate of chicken and rice, with broccoli.)

It is near to Airport KK. Choices of food you can get at the night market. It opens from Friday to Saturday only. It is advisable for people to take grab because the place is crowded and hard to find parking. The night market is different from pasar malam in semenanjung. They got better option to find food. However, not all food were delicious. i think 90% of my purchase taste so so. I really like the vibes with busking all along the night market and the people who came to lepak lepak there. Plus, the price is mahal sikit maybe due to one of tourism spot. Hope that majlis perbandaran can provide tong sampah(s) as there are many people coming there eating while strolling at night market.

A very lively place with many food stalls. Definitely worth exploring and trying the local food. There are no seating so many people just sit at the open area to enjoy their food. The rubbish bin nearby was overflowing so more bins need yo be provided or the bins cleared quickly.

On the flight from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu (KK) we sat with a very kind gentleman who was winging his way to KK to visit his girlfriend. He was a wealth of information about Singapore, and Borneo; when he found out where we were staying (and that we weren’t bolting for the national park but staying in KK) he brightened up and said: “Oh, you’re right beside the markets on Gaya Street. They’re fantastic. You have to take in the night market on Friday and Saturday. The food is great and it’s a lot of fun.” Since we love night markets we were excited to learn that we were so close to KK’s version, and it didn’t disappoint. We arrived on a Saturday so were able to take in the night market our first night in KK. What a treat! Gaya Street is lined with food vendors offering all manner of Malaysian foods, from standard savouries like Satay and Nasi Lemak to a range of desserts and cold drinks. And unlike so many other markets of this kind that we’ve been to in North America, here the vendors don’t charge over-the-top prices for small portions of too-oftentimes dubiously prepared foods. No, no, my friend. Here the portions are generous, and the prices fair. For example, on our first, “let’s test the waters” visit we spent all of RM 10 (CDN $6) for six satay sticks, a huge order of Har Mee, and a delicious iced mango drink. On our final night (the following weekend) we splurged and ate ourselves insensible, all for RM 65 (CDN $19.60 - that’s the price we paid for one very dubious Strawberry Sundae Waffle at Toronto’s CNE last year!). But the best part of the Api Api Night Market isn’t the great food; it’s the great vibe. This is a big family night out, and the street is thronged with all ages from the very young (and very rambunctious) to the very old - all strolling along taking it all in. If you go, do not miss out on ordering your favourite food then sitting down with hundreds of people who use a side street adjacent to Gaya Street as an ad hoc picnic zone. It’s just awesome! Oh, and take time to listen to the talented buskers that give the market an extra special vibe. And please, gift generously, especially if you take video. It’s how these folks make a living. One note: weirdly, there are no garbage bins anywhere along the street, so be prepared to schlep your leftover food and drink containers in the plastic bags they came in until you either find a bin, or ask one of the vendors if they’d dispose of your garbage for you (no one we asked said no). If you’re staying in KK on a Friday or Saturday night, you really owe it to yourself to get out to this night market - it’s the best time!

Happy Muslim Restaurant I is a popular eatery in Kota Kinabalu Town known for its delicious Indonesian cuisine. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including the flavorful Sup Ayam Nasi, a chicken soup served with white rice at an affordable price. Visitors praise the friendly staff and quick service, making it an ideal spot for a local breakfast experience. While some find the food to be great and reasonably priced, others feel that it lacks a wow factor.
Reasonable price and delicious food especially their curry chicken and ikan bakar recommended for all

Kedai Kopi 10 is a Chinese restaurant located in Lintas that offers a wide selection of buns and puffs. The prices are reasonable, making it a great deal for customers. Its strategic location next to a dim sum place allows diners to enjoy the best of both worlds by grabbing a table in between.
Non-Halal Kopi Tiam/Coffee Shop. Standard indoor & outdoor seating. Selling a variety of fresh hot buns. 1 of their signature & fast selling buns is Polo Buns. Besides selling fresh baked buns, inside this Kopitiam also have 1 stall selling noodles. The stalls sell a variety of chinese roasted/BBQ pork, chicken & ducks top with noodles & rice at a very affordable price. Yet the taste still needs to be improved.

I enjoy the tomato fish noodle soup more than the BBQ pork noodle soup. Because the tomato soup is more flavorful than the BBQ soup, which quite light tastes. The noodle is equally fought. The side dish both fish and BBQ pork are also equally at best, where the fish sidedish is fresh & bouncy & quite a lot, same goes for the BBQ pork, where the 3 layer is nice and tender crunchy skin and char siew quite big with a lot of portion too. Lastly, I prefer tomato fish soup's chili. I prefer it because it is the most SPICY hot 🌶 🔥 🥵 compared to the BBQ's chili. The tomato fish soup noodle is the WINNER 🏆 for me 5🌟 out of 5⭐ .

1. Taste: 3/5 2. Presentation: 3/5 3. Portion size: 4/5 4 Temperature: 5/5 5. Service: 3/5 6. Value for money: 5/5 7. Overall: 3/5 As u sit, thy throw 2 separate food menus on ur table. 1 cater mo on the soup the other rice dishes n noodles. I went for the dumpling soup, the dumpling 🥟 are nice w nice ingredients but the soup was a let down, so it was just average for me. The kon lo dish was better n both dishes rm21, which I guess w today's high prices can b considered good. However, if ur looking for buns, the curry puff is good even though oily somewhat but good, a lot to choose from n thy will keep u wanting mo esp during tea time.

Tried the “Char Siew Bao” (which we call Chan Bao back home) at Kedai Kopi 10 and it was a pleasant surprise. The bun was incredibly soft and fluffy, while the filling was savory, rich, and well-seasoned with a lovely char siew flavor. A simple but satisfying snack—definitely something I’d come back for if I’m in the area again.

Great coffee shop to have a cup of strong and fragrant local coffee in Kota Kinabalu. This shop in Lintas area serves breakfast and lunch. The pineapple bun is spectacular. It is the best alternative to those that you can find in Hong Kong. It is done with unique local taste bud in mind. Its hard to stop at just eating one bun. Remember to ask for kopi susu kahwin kaw for your coffee if you want full flavour in your mouth that is not to be forgotten.

One of 2 places in Lintas that sells an assortment of buns and puffs. Strategic location too, right next to a dim sum place. So grab a table in between and have the best of both places. Kedai Kopi 10 also has 2 other vendors, one that does fish and dumpling noodles (very good dumplings I must say), and another vendor does the roasted meat/ chicken rice/ noodles. It really is a good place for breakfast and lunch. Place can get quite packed.
MJ — Google review
Terrible place with abysmal service, they either mark your orders wrongly, take too long to prepare or forgot about it altogether. One saving grace of this place would be their polo buns when they come out fresh from the oven. We came here because 33 was out of seats but it's such a waste of time.

A non halal restaurant. The pastry is good and the price is reasonable. The roasted duck/pork dry noodles is great. The fried dumpling is fresh that makes the taste fantastic. I strongly recommend to come to this restaurant.

Ah Ken Asam Pedas is a delightful culinary gem located on the outskirts of Kota Kinabalu, in the bustling area of Inanam. This open-air restaurant offers a unique taste of Sabah with its creative and flavorful dishes, particularly their sour and spicy seafood noodles that are a must-try. For those who adore bambangan, the wild mango native to Sabah, you’ll be thrilled by their special bambangan seafood noodle soup.
Open-aired restaurant at corner lot. Can be packed during peak hours and longer waiting time. Though many tables availabe. Staffs are friendly & attentive. Menu QR is available to view on each table. Then, order to the staffs. Drinks: like any other coffee shops. Foods: 1. Sup Asam Pedas fresh fish slices and Yu Wat and rice - the taste is thick! Prone to add on rice. 2. Sup Bambangan fried fish slices and Hati Ikan - the taste is thick! Fried fish slices has spme bones. The soup content can tailor to your preference. 3. Wa Tan Ho Asam Pedas fried fish slices - has the ‘Wok Hei’ taste on the noodle. The taste of Asam Pedas is unique to the normal Wa Tan Ho. 4. Fried fish eggs - delicious! No strong fish smell (suitable for those who dislike strong fishy smell) Price is affordable and seems worth for the portion served. Overall, our table satisfied with the foods served. Definitely will be back to try out others in the menu.

At outskirts of Kota Kinabalu, Inanam is experiencing economic boom and more light industrial activities. Many eateries have found their way here. This Asam Pedas restaurant is very much Chinese food style based. The taste is good and the flow of customers is constant. The steamed fish is good too.

Came for their specialty- spicy stir fry Hor fun The wok-hey is below my expectation. Surprisingly, their hot and spicy passion fruit soup (yes, you read it right, passion fruit) is outstanding. Extremely umami and I had to asked them to add vermicelli noodle to my soup, perfecto 🥰🥰🥰

Muslim friendly serve No-Pork Kopi Tiam. With indoor & outdoor seating. Usually crowded during peak hours. Well known for their specialty, a clear Sup Asam Pedas Ikan. Choose from fried / non-fried fish or their housemade "YuWhat". Their soup 4Rasa (Combination of sweet, sour bitter & spicy) are worth a try...A wake up call in the morning 👍👍👍 Mee goreng is spicy & delicious too, suitable for spicy food lover. Don't forget the condiments "Bawang Goreng Kicap" to eat with their noodles/rice 👍👍👍There are a lot more to choose from their menu beside Asam Pedas noodles. If you're on the hunt for an authentic taste of Sabah, look no further than Norita Tomyam. This delightful eatery serves up a light yet tangy version of Tom Yam that has captured the hearts of many locals. Each bowl is a vibrant medley of flavors, featuring fresh red chilies, succulent small prawns, tender chicken pieces, and aromatic greens. The addition of lemongrass elevates this dish with its sweet minty notes. But that's not all!
I go there at least once a month for the sup tulang. Tasty and meat is tender. Add a lil lime for that extra zing in taste. One of the best sup tulang in town.

Borneo Pan Mee is a popular Hakka noodle dish in Sabah, Malaysia. The wheat noodles are hand-torn into bite-sized pieces and served in a flavorful anchovy broth with ground pork and vegetables. It's known for its authentic homemade taste. This cozy spot offers delicious options like the dry chili pan mee and soup, both of which are highly recommended. The family-run eatery provides a quiet and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy this local specialty.
Very pleasant little spot with quiet, efficient service. Great flavours and nicely textured noodles.

Wisma Sabah stands tall as a historic landmark in KK, while the shop might not boast the same storied history, its culinary prowess is undeniable. We indulged in both the classic pan mee soup and the tantalizing dry chili pan mee, each dish a testament to the shop's culinary mastery. The classic pan mee soup invoked waves of nostalgia with every spoonful, while the dry chili pan mee ignited our taste buds with its bold flavors. However, the Korean-style black pepper pork rice failed to leave a lasting impression, offering a taste that was merely ordinary amidst the extraordinary flavors of its companions.

Handmade pan mee is not always easy to come by, and this early morning spot does an excellent job of it, with the mixed fish ban mian being a must-try for lovers of fish balls and 鱼滑 like myself. It’s quite a hot and stuffy space to enjoy hot soup noodles, and the drinks are hit and miss but I would definitely come back for my food order!

The broth is very good. Authentic and feels home made. I ordered the hand made one with soup. Other then the smooth n silky pan mee for my breakfast there is nothing else worth noticing. Service wasnt friendly. Self service for utensils and sauces(not much choice) Rm9.50 per bowl of original. I like that the shop starts operation early int he morning. Bonus for my gastronomic walkabout KK town. Off to the wet market now.

I had the opportunity to have lunch at Kudos. It was a very pleasant experience and the ambience is perfect for a long chat over lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I had the Parmesan Mushroom and Halibut dish. Both dish were beyond expectation and from the taste I could tell that each dish was meticulously prepared. The waitress was accomodating in changing one of the dish my aunt ordered which had white wine sauce. She took the dish back and had it replaced with the same dish without the wine. Later on, the head waiter came and asked us if the food and beverages were in accordance to our liking. I must say the accommodating waiters and waitresses were a wonderful compliment to the delectable food and beverage served at Kudos. I definately recommend dining at this bistro.
