I had beef stew, an egg spread and a glass of red wine and it was perfect. The food is amazing, the serving is also quite interesting. There are a lot of options to choose from the menu and it might be hard to pick something if you’re not familiar with the local cuisine, but definitely all of them might be worth a try!

Had such a lovely evening in Gettó Gulyás. The service was second to none and the food was excellent. The wine recommendation was perfect and suited each of our meals. The best meal I've had in Budapest so far (day 4). We got 3 out of the 4 available desserts and each one was better than the next. Absolutely delicious. I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Budapest, and I’m so glad I did. He advised me to make a reservation since the place is very popular, and that turned out to be excellent advice—the restaurant was busy, but welcoming. I started with something unusual: cucumbers with sour cream. It may sound simple, but it was absolutely delicious, especially paired with the fresh bread that came alongside. For my next course, I had a pancake filled with tender veal pieces and vegetables in a flavorful sauce—astounding in both taste and presentation. I paired it with a glass of their Cabernet, which was rich and smooth. For my main course, I had veal with buttered noodles. The noodles were uniquely wrapped in a circle of bacon, adding both flavor and creativity to the dish. Everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is warm and cozy—lively and a bit loud, but still comfortable for conversation. The service was outstanding, and the interior design had so much detail that added to the charm and coziness of the space. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Budapest. It’s a memorable dining experience, and I’m already hoping to return before I leave.

We had such a great experience here! The Báránypaprikás and Borjúpaprikás were absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly tender (lamb especially, veal a little bit less) and full of flavor. The food came out quickly, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We booked our table online two days before, and everything went smoothly. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

I was a party of one, and could very quickly be seated by the bar, which is fine. It was a bit tall, making it a bit weird position to eat in. Staff was nice and friendly. I got to try their duck pate with some bread for free, and then the food arrived very quickly after. The lecso was delicious and very rich. One of the best meals I had in Budapest. Perfectly paired with the bread.

Quirky, modern place to have a lunch or dinner. We have booked a table and we had a feeling that it is recommended as place was full on the lunch time. Loved decor, staff was very attentive and polite. Amazing traditional food. I had pancake with a mushroom filling for a starter. 10 out of 10. Goulash soup for a main. 9 out of 10, only because it felt too salty for my liking. But to be honest I am using not a lot of salt when cooking myself, so in most of places food feels a bit too salty for me. Soup was tasty anyway. Cottage cheese balls in a sour cream sauce for a desert. 10 out of 10. And homemade lemonade for a drink 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend when visiting Budapest. Did not take any pictures of interior as place was full with people and didn't feel it is nice to take pictures of others while they are enjoying their amazing food.

The soups at Leves are fantastic! We tried two different soups with two sandwiches and it all tasted amazing! Highly recommend to grab lunch here for soup lovers. Bear in mind that the place is mostly for takeaway, we did however stay at one of the tall table and had our food there. Very good prices too compared to the touristy restaurants nearby.

I ordered Puebla chicken soup and it's the best!!!!! The soup is thick and very tasty. I will totally come back. Highly highly recommended!!!!

This is really the best place in the whole city for eating soups. You can choose from 5 different types of soups to-go every day and this is just 490Ft. If you pay plus 50Ft you get topping on your soup like seeds, cheese or browned bread. These are made by totally unusual ingredients with incredible composition. I absolutely recommend.

Tiny shop with outside tables. Only a couple of choices but it’s extremely tasty. I got the Burmese chicken curry, delicious! It’s got lentils and chicken. V quick service and they take card.

It is the largest indoor market in Budapest, located at one end of the famous Váci utca. It is located in a building whose facade is built in a neo-Gothic style, very pleasing to the eye and in harmony with the architecture of the neighboring buildings. Inside, on the ground floor you will find many shops with local cold cuts, dairy, wines and other products. In the basement is the fish market. You can reach the upper level by several stairs but also by an escalator, located in close proximity of the main entrance. Access to the shops on the first floor is along corridors that look like balconies. Here are numerous gift/souvenir shops but also the Fakánal Etterem restaurant, which, if you want to taste the flavors of traditional Hungarian food, you must definitely make a stop. We did and we did not regret it. At lunchtime, when we arrived, we had to be a little patient to get to the desired menu, but it was worth it. I treated myself with a goulash soup and a portion of stuffed cabbage rolls. Everything was very tasty. I consider this place to be recommended to visit.

Lots of fresh food of all varieties, including meat, vegetables and baked goods. Paprika of every flavor and size. Goodies to eat and souvenirs for the trip home. It can be very crowded so have some patience. Many of the vendors are closed on Sunday, especially the fresh food vendors.

We went around 2-3pm, when a lot of stalls had already closed. Ground floor has vegetables, meats, sausages and spices. Upper floor is filled with Souvenir-Style shopping, and a few options for food. Choice was ok, avoid if you'd prefer a more local experience.

Coffee shop with a lot of history. Great coffee and very nice cakes, the Ruszwurm custard cake was delicious. Avoid the lemonade; many people left it unfinished. Unfortunately, it's a popular tourist spot, so the shop is always very busy, and the service was very poor.

The cake was highly popular. I guess we are not for it as it had lots of cream but it is a cream cake so it’s only natural. It tasted good though. We just wanted to try this cafe as it has a long history. If you sit indoors, it is warm though so maybe sitting outdoors would be much better😀

We came for the Kremes ( Vanilla Cream Slice) and stayed for the Almond cake. Last visit was 8yrs ago and it is exactly as we remember. Yes the wait might be long to get a table and the staff are busy, but that's because it is so good. There are lots of beautiful places to sit not too far from the cafe so if the line is long, grab it to go. We visited twice this time around and great both times

Historic and popular café near Buda Castle, but a bit overrated. We waited in a long queue for an outdoor table. Tried three recommended pastries—none were particularly impressive. Staff wasn’t friendly. Not accessible for wheelchairs—there are 3–4 steps at the entrance.

Good coffee and cream cake. The reason I gave it 1 star is because the service was bad. This cafe is known for its cream cake. Upon arrival I ordered 4 coffees and 4 cream cakes. We then got 4 coffees promptly and then just got 1 cream cake. I asked where the other 3 were and the server said they were sold out. Why couldn't he tell me this earlier? If you’re a fan of desserts and tasty pastries, you must try their pastries. You will not be disappointed. I bake a lot and what I tried was heavenly. Congrats for making cakes and baked goodies for almost 200 years. Food: 5+/5 - we had the crème cake, caramel cake and Eszterhazy torta! My favorite was the Ruszwurm cake. They even have cookies and gluten free options. Try their assorted drinks and ice creams. I had the sour cherry lemonade which was full of fruity taste. They also offer takeout if you choose not to wait. Service: 5/5 the servers outside did a wonderful job with the crowd control as the odd person tried sneaking in. The lineups can get crazy and hectic. Atmosphere: 4/5 - there was outdoor and inside seating.

The design of the place is nice, I like that they have different sizes of the tables and even some tables for 1 person. Regarding their ramen - it is okay. Not good and not the best, just okay. Not the real ramen like in other places

This is a nice place. I like how they captured the japanese separe seats. The foods look great, the ingredients are really fresh, tasty, the portions are enough. I like a bit more thicker broth, this is why I give 4. Staff people are really nice. You can collect points for every bowl of soup, after 10 you can have a free one.

A great bonus for Hungarian customers: they accept the **SZÉP Card**, but only OTP through- If you're a ramen lover, this spot is a must-try! I’ll definitely be coming back for more.

The food was delicious. We ordered small portions and it was perfect. I added some 🌶️ chili flakes, and I should have skipped that. Plenty of spice and flavor without! The decor is simple with a fun painted mural and the music is upbeat! Orsi is so lovely!

The food was not hot at all and then I needed to tell them to heat it up but it did not get better. The taste was not like ramen and I had tried better one in Europe. And also when I got the bill, they charged around 1000huf for the services even though they just take order and the service is normal. If the restaurant want to charge, please tell the customer sooner and do the service worth 1000huf.

Disappointing Ramen The ramen tasted stale and not fresh. The vegetables seemed canned, with a musty flavor that made the dish unpleasant. Definitely not what I expected from a quality restaurant.

We ordered the ramen with shoyu broth, vegetable gyoza, spring rolls, and a cucumber salad. Unfortunately, the ramen was quite disappointing — the broth lacked depth of flavor, and the noodles appeared to be store-bought and were not properly cooked, as they arrived clumped together. The gyoza and cucumber salad were also underwhelming in taste. The only dish we found reasonably good was the spring roll. Additionally, the portion sizes were rather small and did not seem to justify the relatively high prices. Lovely place to have a beautiful dinner. Perfectly situated for a walk to zoo, park area or hero’s square. The traditional but upscale cuisine was very delicious. I’ve decided the Hungarian’s are the best soup makers. It was a nice meal with some service hiccups. The waiter did not have the best grasp of the English language and that was fine, but our glasses of libations were left empty for a while before refilling and our empty serving plates were slow to be taken. A couple of waiters noticing were quick to remedy the young waiter and waitress errors. Live music was divine. Definitely a good choice.

Oh my - I’m always cautious of places like these on the basis that they are simply trading on their name after all this time but I couldn’t not have been more wrong! The food was superb but what absolutely made our evening was how expertly Béla guided us through the wine menu and recommended us a bespoke Hungarian wine flight that both matched our preferred wines and our courses. This guy needs to move towards becoming a sommelier as his knowledge was superb. Thanks for a wonderful last evening in Budapest!

I visited Gundel with my mother during our trip to Budapest, as I wanted to treat her to a special dinner. The restaurant’s strong reviews, elegant atmosphere, and reputation for great food made it an easy choice and it certainly lived up to expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. We were warmly welcomed and guided to our table, and throughout the evening the staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful with recommendations whenever we were unsure. The restaurant itself is beautiful and classy, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. I started with an Espresso Martini served in a cappuccino-style cup—a creative and delightful touch. For dinner, we chose the meal + starter/soup option. The staff kindly went above and beyond by serving us two bowls of soup rather than asking us to share one, which was a small but very thoughtful gesture. The goulash soup, in particular, was outstanding - tender meat and incredible flavor. Every dish we tried was excellent, and we truly enjoyed the whole dining experience. The only element I personally wasn’t fond of was the live band walking around the tables asking for money after playing. While some guests may enjoy it, I felt it was a bit out of place in such a refined setting. That said, our evening at Gundel was absolutely wonderful. Both the food and the service were exceptional, and I would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest!

We were highly disappointed that we came to 21 after…probably 7 years and the food was no-where close to what it used to be. We literally ordered the same dishes: the risotto, the pancake and the gulas and we didn’t like either of them, they were obviously more expensive. We didn’t like the lemonade either. The water and the house appetisers were good. The place wasn’t crowded and the serving was nice.

We had a lovely dinner here. We didn't have a reservation but they managed to fit us in. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. We had the rosè duck with pumpkin pureè and the transylvanian bear stew - both were amazing (the bear stew was one of the nicest dishes we had when in Budapest). We had a lovely dinner with a stunning view of St. Matthew's Cathedral. The service was fast, friendly, and very professional. Our waiter,Lajos, welcomed us warmly, let us choose a table we liked, and even helped us with recommendations and serving our dishes. We tried the goulash soup, the schnitzel, and the chicken paprikash — all were excellent choices, full of flavor and well-prepared. The stew was a bit underwhelming compared to the rest, but still enjoyable. Overall, everything we ordered was tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the location is hard to beat. If you're looking for authentic Hungarian food in a great setting with attentive service, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Akos, a local, recommended the Chicken Paprikash here at 21 Magyar Vendeglo and Da'vid was my gracious server. His friendly helpfulness was beyond expectations. He asked where i was from (I was dining solo) and made me feel welcome, despite my lack of a reservation. He even charged my phone after a long day of site seeing and taking photos! The food was excellent, including the presentation! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a wonderful family dinner with 10 adults and a baby, and the restaurant handled our large group with ease. Their quick response and willingness to accommodate us made the evening stress-free. We have 6 people to eat lunch here . We ordered 2 famous fish soup , 1 fried chicken breast , 1 fired catfish , 1 beef veggies noodles and 1 Schnitzel for total over 50,000 HUF. Food and service are ok . I already knew they will put 15% service charge on the bill . What it gets me was the server reminds me of tips when I tried to pay with my credit card . I points out to the bill for 15% then he canceled the tip option on the machine . I felt they are dishonest and trying to scam the tourists. Be aware .

Interesting interior, with a fisherman in a boat. (We didn't photograph all the dishes), fish soup in a camping pot, as if just from the fire,, delicious dishes and desserts.

Whole grilled trout was good, tender and comes with lots of vegetables. Kids meal (fried fish) was too deep-friend so my kids didn’t like at all, and the portion was surprisingly small. 15% “service charge” was added to the bill without asking but there was absolutely no service. No water, no checking how was the food. And my kids even asked me “why did they quickly walked away after said thank you (after I paid)”. I think this is too popular for tourist so they don’t care.

Great little place with great foods. Traditional Hungarian foods.,Lots of food and very hot at table side. Plenty of bread and if you like traditional cucumber sales their sale was just like mom’s. I really recommend this place for fresh hot food with a touch of class and not too expensive for its location.

Update: They are prejudicial or racist. I walked back just a little later and some of those same tables had new diners. Still plenty of open tables. The host/waiter told me they were full when there were 4+ tables open and the restaurant was still open for 2 hours. Maybe they're a little bit racist?

The food was excellent. I had grilled goat cheese, which was high-quality and perfectly prepared. The salad that came with it was a bit old-school, but I guess it suits the style of the cuisine. My husband had halászlé, and it was truly delicious. We finished with a sweet touch—chocolate soufflé. There was nothing to complain about. We will definitely be back!

The food was overall tasty - save for a few questionable side options, like the potato donuts that are served with the venison - but definitely a bit more on the pricey side. Náncsi Néni is an authentic Hungarian restaurant that I’ve visited a few times already. The food is consistently great and genuinely Hungarian, paired with a nice and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant can get full quite fast, so it’s definitely worth making a reservation before visiting. That said, I find the place a little overhyped and quite pricey for what it offers. The menu is somewhat limited, but everything I’ve tried has been really tasty and well-prepared. The location is a bit far from the city center, so coming by car is convenient — just note that parking can be a bit limited. Overall, it’s a great spot if you want to try authentic Hungarian cuisine in a charming setting.

In the summer, their courtyard is always open, where you can enjoy your food and drinks in the shade of the trees. The food is delicious, authentic Hungarian cuisine. The portions are generous but not excessive. The service is quick, and the cooking and grilling are done to a good standard. Prices are slightly above average. In the winter, seating can be limited, as they primarily use the main dining hall. A few things to keep in mind: There is virtually no parking (space for 3-4 cars at most). Parking on the grass or further down the street will result in a fine. The police come by almost every hour and are quick to issue tickets. When ordering, it's better to ask for the chef's or the waiters' recommendations. Trust me, it's a better option than guessing from the menu. The place has the simple, rustic cleanliness of a country house gazebo. Don't expect a spotless, gleaming environment. Come with a good mood! I went there yesterday, we were around 10 people and we sat upstairs on the private floor. The food we got was excellent also the place was stunning. But our waitress was unfocused and made mistakes with our order. We booked the place for 9 pm and were bot told that the kitchen closed at 9:30pm so we had to oreder quickly. To their credit, they prepared everything quickly despite the mistakes in the order, and we had no complaints about the food.

Natural typical Hungarian restaurant. This place takes Hungarian dishes and elevate them multiple levels up. My duck potatoes and red cabbage was so delicious. I’m not quite sure how they made the red cabbage into the purée they did but it was delicious. That kind of goes with every dish that came out recognizable, but taken to a whole Nother level. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or attentive. If you want a special night out and are willing to pay a little bit extra for it you will definitely get your moneys worth here.

Had a great start to a trip with stand25. The goulash was delicious, flavourful and had tender beef. The pork dish also had a great sauce. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the risotto (albeit a bit heavy) was yummy as well. A wonderful introduction to Hungarian food!

The food was simply outstanding. The lángos and goulash soup were the best we’ve had anywhere in Budapest, rich in flavor and perfectly executed. The salmon on risotto was sensational, with a perfectly crisp skin and a full, balanced taste. The wild boar ragout with homemade round noodles was also excellent. For dessert, both the palacsinta and the Esterházy torte impressed us with their quality. The wine pairing with the main course was well chosen and complemented the dishes beautifully. The service was professional and efficient, though a little more distant compared to the warm and jovial atmosphere we’ve experienced elsewhere. Nevertheless, Stand25 Bistro is absolutely worth a visit. It offers refined Hungarian cuisine in a tasteful setting and is a true gem for those looking for something more sophisticated in Budapest’s dining scene.

Our trip to Budapest was all about visiting several Michelin-starred restaurants. Stand25 Bisztro joined our list 😉. There was also the added bonus of "our anniversary." A greeting card awaiting us at our reserved table was a pleasant surprise (and a sweet treat served at the end 😛). The menu is very diverse; I think everyone will find something to suit their taste preferences. And the dishes served are pure poetry at their finest, not only in terms of flavor but also a feast for the eyes. The composition of the individual dishes... and desserts!... make our taste buds go wild... and shout "wow." I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates exquisite cuisine and an exclusive setting. The service is completely professional and top-notch. Bravo!

We were very lucky to have a table right next to the kitchen, we can look at chefs working on all the dishes as well as the wait staff interacting with the kitchen. That’s made our meal that much more fun. The overall food was very delicious and interesting, the only slight disappointment was the deconstructed pork knuckle plate. Was looking for a full knuckle with skin and all, instead we have only few pieces of meat in some kind of sauce.

I chose Stand 25 Bisztró, which is the more affordable bistro counterpart of the Michelin-starred Stand 25 restaurant. It’s located on the opposite side of the city center, but it’s actually not far. The restaurant has an open kitchen. We ordered the cold foie gras, goulash soup, and for the main courses we had duck and venison. We also had two cocktails before the meal; both were excellent, especially the velvet cocktail. As for the food: the goulash soup was a bit lukewarm and could have been served hotter, and the taste wasn’t particularly impressive. The foie gras came with toasted bread and was exactly as expected for those familiar with it. The duck was very tender and delicious. The venison, which I normally expect to be quite tough, was perfectly cooked, and the potato gratin on the side was also excellent. However, the only — yet completely experience-ruining — issue was the attitude of the waitstaff. Their behavior was shockingly rude. For example, I had checked menu photos on Google beforehand, and when I showed a photo of the dish I was referring to, the waiter responded harshly, saying, “you should choose from the menu, not from photos.” The way they placed the dishes on the table was also very impolite, almost as if they were throwing them in front of us. The worst moment was when I politely asked for the dessert menu before finishing the main course. The waiter refused and said, “I’ll give it to you when you finish your meal,” and only brought it afterward. I have never seen anything like this. A customer should be able to ask for and receive the menu at any time. Later, when I showed a Google photo of a dessert, the waiter again scolded me, saying, “our menu is not on Google; it’s in your hand.” That was the last straw for us. We decided not to order dessert and asked for the bill immediately. Honestly, the owners should seriously train their staff on proper customer service and basic manners. It was a huge disappointment.

Wow, what an excellent experience! We wanted something low key and with a drive from the city centre, to some quiet neighbourhood away from tourists. We got quiet, but it was so fine!!! The people were professional and the food was exceptional. I had the best paprikas (from veal) of my entire life, and it is not an unknown food for me. The duck leg was also amazing. Loved it!

I ate there several times and the dinner was always exceptional, high quality food & drinks is waiting for guests there. Very polite service...and it's not expensive at all...

It is still a good place, but I liked it more about 10 years ago. It used to have a wide selection of wines from my favourite vineyards. It still serves good wines, but not the selection you would expect. The service is still very professional and friendly. Food is good, tradicional dishes with some twists, as advertized. To notice the innovative aspects, it helps to know the original version, but they also can be enjoyed for what they are.

The staff was very nice and helpful. We only had coffee so I can't say review the food at this time. The coffee was fine, however I found the Melange I had to be way smaller in volume than anywhere else I had this type of coffee. It's usually a whole glass or mug full, this was half. The taste was OK and I guess they make it this way here... However I would say the place is a bit overpriced judging by what we got.

Best Hungarian cuisine! Traditional Hungarian food transformed for modern days. Service is more than professional, even in English language. Extra: this is the only place where foreigners should start to taste great pàlinka!

Fantastic food, awesome summer location (on the terrace). Finally a place in Hungary where the waiters are funny and can communicate what they are serving in English also. No surprise I always try to make it here at least once when I visit Budapest!

I've been here like 4 times in the last 3 years but my last visit was a bit of a negative experience. The staff speaks English quite well but this time I felt we didn't get enough help and explanation about the dish my husband was ordering. And of course it wasn't what he expected. We also ordered mineral water and the waiter said they had filtered tap water. He looked at us like as If we were talking French. And we didn't get the mineral water. We couldn't finish off the food so we asked for takeaway. The boxes were charged for like 1 euro. Its not about the price but when you go to to a place and you spend like 70 euros on a dinner I think this price could be calculated within other costs. What I'm saying it's not a cheap place, the guests are local, wealthy people. Propably the staff is already got used to them this is why we didn't get the service I had couple of years ago.

📍Place: located on the edge of Jewish district, a small place with around 30 seats upstairs and a couple of them downstairs. The atmosphere is very simple but brings the Japanese vibes. Unfortunately ventilation is not the best so you might end up smelling tonkatsu. 🍛 Food: food is excellent, I have tried multiple dishes but the curry is my favourite especially with the crispy perfectly fried tonkatsu. The rice has a perfect texture and the portions are pretty sizeable. Prices are around 2000 HUF for the smaller portions, and 4000-5000 HUF for the larger. They offer Korean soju (peach/grape) as well on their drink menu (3300 HUF). I have tried their ramen and curry as well and I didn't have huge experience with these before so to me they all tasted great. The fried pork was beautiful, juicy on the inside and super crispy on the outside, with great quality rice and flavourful curry - not spicy at all. It's not the easiest to navigate through the menu, there are many options and variations so the advantage is that you can easily combine smaller portions for you and try different dishes. 👩🏻‍🍳 Service: real Japanese service they are super nice and kind. Some of them speaks Hungarian but everyone speaks English. Food arrives quite quickly and you can pay by SZÉP card as well.

This is a perfect restaurant. The food we ordered tasted just like heaven, the staff is kind and the atmosphere is also very cozy. Authentic Japanese Ramen. The homemade noodle is exceptional with a very chewy texture. Chashu tastes excellent. The pork chop (tonkatsu) is tender and juicy. Price is very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Amazing burgers, highly highly recommend. The beetroot burger was amazing. The Satay burger and summer squash burger were really well done. The patty was not oily and the other toppings in the burger were amazingly combined. The staff is very friendly.

Tökmag offers a wonderful, cozy autumnal design that made us feel instantly comfortable. Service was kind and attentive throughout our visit. For our meal, we ordered the burgers, and we appreciated the option for gluten-free buns! The burgers were outstanding—super filled with flavors. Make sure you save room for the desserts; they were absolutely phenomenal. A truly great spot for both atmosphere and food!

Always nice when you turn a corner and find a restaurant like this. Easy to order, lots of seating, and good selections of tasty healthy plant based treats. Not too sweet and just the right amount of flavour. They also have a selection of plant based burgers, pasta, and salads. Worth coming in for a visit.

YO. This place is a total vibe. They were bumping old school west coast gangster rap. The place is decorated in darth Vader stuff all over. Then we get to the good. Oh my goodnesss. The baguettes they use for the sandwiches. The flavors, the soups. It is all so good. Staff are cool people too. Make sure you swing by here at least once

We had two toasts — Angry Bird and French Lady. The French Lady was super cheesy, soft and delicious. The Angry Bird was way spicier than we expected (even though it says it’s spicy on the menu 😅). Our order took a bit longer, but the staff were awesome and gave my boyfriend a second beer for free. Super friendly people and a really cool atmosphere — loved the Star Wars vibes! Definitely recommend

Can't recommend it enough. One of the best baguettes I've ever had. The staff is SO polite and helpful, the food is unbelievable. Fair prices for what you get. They have something different everyday and the Halloween baguette with pumpkin was a dream. Highly recommend it!!! The craft beers are also great.

Tips: Go early or off-peak to avoid long queues. Try a soup + baguette combo—it’s their signature. Great spot for a quick bite before exploring the city. Would I go back? 100% yes. WOW! From the service to the food this place is amazing! The moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile and helpful suggestion. I got the vegan sandwich and was so surprised at how flavorful and delicious it was! I also go the sweet potato soup and it was the best soup I’ve ever had! They definitely live up to all their hype. This will be a go to place for me while in Budapest. If you are in town this is a MUST try if you love good food!

We were so excited to eat at the oldest restaurant in Hungary. They did not disappoint. We started off the night with beautiful music performed live. My husband ordered the goulash, the meat was so tender, the homemade pasta was delicious. I had the roasted goose with cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was the best meal we’ve had in Budapest. Everything was seasoned to perfection, the mashed potatoes were roasted first then mashed with cream, and the cabbage was slightly sweet. It was such a delectable combination. We were celebrating my husbands birthday so we wanted to have dessert but couldn’t decide on a choice. We asked our waiter for a recommendation and she said the dumplings were her favorite. 😍 wow! It was the best recommendation. The dumplings were stuffed with a slightly pistachio flavored custard with tart cherries inside a dumpling covered in whipped cream and dark chocolate fudge. It may have been the most surprisingly delicious dessert I’ve had in a while. I highly recommend this restaurant and the ambience was the cherry on top.

Great place, good food. I regret I didn’t order schnitzel because it looked amazing at the table next to me. Goulash soup could have more spice - menu says it is extra spicy but it was almost bland. Paprikas was better especially with chili pepper added.

We had an incredible dinner at Porc & Prezli. The food was amazing! Quite honestly the best on our 10 day trip so far. If you get the chance to dine here you won’t be disappointed.

As visitors to Budapest, we were very grateful to have found this restaurant among the many options available. The servers were very friendly and professional, service was very quick, the interior was lovely (with an excellent music show being put on: violin & cimbalom), and the food was excellent. If you are considering your options for authentic, quality, and reasonably priced Hungarian cuisine in this area, I expect this is one of your better options. We were grateful to have walked a further distance from other options that were closer to our hotel but which were a bit more in the “tourist-trap” part of town. I think as a result we got a much better return of value and experience.

We had some very delicious food here: fish soup (not pictured), chicken paprikash, duck breast, and cottage cheese dessert. We were also serenaded by live music (violin and cimbalom). The restaurant offers an exceptionally friendly atmosphere with a distinctly traditional and folkloric charm, complete with two live musicians and guests occasionally standing up to dance during dinner—a delightful touch that greatly enhances the experience. Upon being seated, we took our time ordering, guided by a few suggestions from Kristi (assuming that is the correct spelling), the one truly outstanding server of the entire evening. She was kind, polite, professional, consistently smiling, and genuinely attentive. Her service elevated the entire dinner, and she deserves the highest praise. We started with an appetizer to share: a “pancake,” which was actually a crepe filled with pulled meat and sour cream. Ironically, it was the dish we were least drawn to initially, yet it ended up being the one we appreciated the most. For the main courses, we ordered a pork knuckle that did not taste like typical pork. It must have been either wild boar or another variety of wild pork. The gamey flavor was extremely intense and sharp. The potatoes—supposedly roasted, though they resembled boiled ones—along with the onions and cherry tomatoes were much better executed. The other main dish was the duck breast, which was considerably better, although the portion of meat on the plate was relatively modest. We finished with a traditional chocolate dessert (average overall but superior to the main dishes), followed by two excellent espressos and two shots of a local liqueur that we ultimately did not drink because it was cinnamon-based, a flavor we do not enjoy. Everything was accompanied by an excellent red wine, once again recommended by Kristi. The final bill came to €113 for two people. A manageable price, though not fully aligned with the overall quality of the dishes. Of course, this is just the opinion of two Italian guests—perhaps too attached to the flavors of our own cuisine.

Our experience here was great! We enjoyed goulash soup and chicken paprikash served with fresh bread. The food was really nice, service was great and really expedited. The waiter/manager made us feel very welcome and even spoke some Italian so it was pretty easy to communicate, he even offered us a complimentary drink after our dinner. There was also live music which was a very nice touch. In my opinion prices were also really fair. Overall great restaurant, I would recommend! ;)

Amazing food! Some of the best traditional hungarian food i’ve had in budapest. I always make sure to get the chicken paprikas when i come here. But all their dishes are amazing. I would definitely make sure to make a trip here. The service is also very nice and everyone is welcoming. Everyone also speaks english.

Absolute gem! Atmosphere, so cosy! Live music with violin, putting you in a relaxed atmosphere. The location in itself is very charming, with a little inside balcony with dinner tables. Very friendly and attentive waiters. The food was perfect. The pancake filled with minced meat was really good and the porc knuckle was in the top 3 of the best I ever had. At the end we received a fantastic drink on the house: a cinnamon and apple palinka. I will come back, for sure.

Service was quick, professional, and very efficient—even when the place was packed. It’s not overly chatty or warm, but it runs like a well-oiled machine, and that’s something to appreciate. If you want a true local experience with reliable food and a classic Budapest feel, Café Kör is absolutely worth visiting. Just make sure to book ahead—it fills up fast!

We immediately found a table when we arrived, and the staff member who attended to us was very kind and attentive. I wanted to try the duck, and it was both delicious and filling with its large portions. The service was quick. The only problem was that a strong smell of food was coming from the ventilation window downstairs, which was quite disturbing for us.

Close to the Basilica. Tried Hungarian dishes here for the first time. Their goulash is delicious. My favorite was part of their lunch menu, the oven baked duck leg. Servings were generous. They have limited non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered lemon iced tea and house-made iced tea. Both served in big glasses. Service was great and they also have clean toilets.

The restaurant has a really cozy atmosphere. They have both a standard menu and a special one with recommendations, handwritten on posters. I ordered the foie gras, and they served complimentary bread — a really good ciabatta. The foie gras was absolutely amazing! So fragrant and rich, with a perfect amount of fat, and the portion was quite generous. The potato slices were also cooked just right. I was totally satisfied — the best foie gras I’ve had in Budapest!

We made a reservation for six people for dinner and were seated at our table without any issues upon arrival. They have a standard menu as well as a daily/weekly specials menu displayed on the wall (also available in English). At our table, we ordered the duck, the goose leg, and the pan-fried foie gras. The foie gras was especially outstanding — both in flavor and in portion size. The duck main course was good, though compared to other places I’ve tried, it felt slightly overcooked. The goose leg, on the other hand, was excellent: perfectly crispy on the outside and very flavorful. One detail that caught my attention was that in the photos I had seen before, a single portion appeared to come with two goose legs served on the same plate, whereas ours came with only one. The dishes arrived quite quickly. The atmosphere inside was calm, though in my opinion a bit dim and on the darker side.

my first time trying out classic Hungarian food! i had a salad and the well-known goulash with croquettes, and the food didn’t disappoint one bit. they actually made a mistake with my salad, as i only ordered a fresh mixed salad but they brought me a fish salad; however they, they only charged me the original mixed salad price. i came here during dinner time on a thursday night but they were able to give me a table right away. the staffs were busy but they were friendly and attentive. would recommend this to others.

We came here for the famous Strudel, but ended up having also the most exquisite lunch! I am very picky with food, didn’t have any expectations, but it was absolutely delicious! I will recommend this place to everyone and definitely will be coming back when in Budapest !!

We had a 3 course menu and it was so delicious! I especially enjoyed the sweet raspberry strudel with cottage cheese - absolute delight! Service is exceptional. Atmosphere is also very pleasant. Though the ventilation inside is terrible. It’s both hot and smelling oil, so consider that your outfit will have that smell afterwards 😅

We stumbled upon this cute spot and were pleasantly surprised. Had coffee and strudel—both were good and hit the spot. The interior design was fantastic: cozy, stylish, and full of character. We didn’t try the full menu, so no comment on the food, but the vibe alone makes it worth a visit.

Recommend by the concierge at the Kempinski Hotel. Lovely atmosphere. After a long flight we wanted a quick bite and loved the atmosphere so much we made a reservation for the next night. Highly recommend the goulash, and especially the sour cherry strudel with sauce (the sauce is a divine chocolate!) They upsold us to the most expensive wine on the list.. but hey.. we are on holidays!!

Overrated place, had much tastier strudel and goulash in other much less expensive places in Budapest. Place is very crowded, service is slow and prices are big for what they offer. Nice interior, clean, no reservations needed. All in one a 4!

Great food, kind staff, beautiful and cozy place! If you are visiting Matthias Church, this is an excellent stop not too close to the crowds but still incredibly close to everything. As always, prioritize local cuisine! Try the best they have to offer! If you are not willing to experience this fundamental part of a country’s culture, don’t worry, they have plenty of options for unadventurous guests! I was not very hungry and they suggested the classic fish soup, to which I added a salad and a side of their delicious homemade bread! Enjoy this food, place, and atmosphere!

I live in Miami, USA. Travel all over Europe and beyond. If you are a solo traveler, I don’t recommend this restaurant. Never being bounced this way. I actually congratulate attendant as he was honest and he said “ we only have table for four” and he pointed me out to other restaurant in the area. From business point of view more people, more money. I would do the same if I had a restaurant 😅. A couple after me were allowed to go in. I went to Pierrot restaurant down the street and left my money there. I have a fast metabolism so I eat like for two people. It is what it is. It was around 2 pm. Good luck solo travelers.

Rude waiter. My husband and I went in for an evening meal. Told by the waiter we would have to be quick to decide what we wanted to eat as the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes.. it was 8.35 pm. The waiter then showed us to our table with a lot of huffing and puffing and tutting! This restaurant adds a service charge to your bill, but that doesn’t stop the waiter hovering with the card machine pointing out the options for further tips before you realise its already added. Food was barely warm and they forgot the bread. Lovely dessert was the saving grace.

I strongly do not recommend this restaurant. My experience there was extremely disappointing. The portions were tiny, and the main waiter was rude, constantly more focused on making us leave quickly or order more than providing proper service.During our visit, a couple arrived and was told that if they wanted coffee, they couldn’t sit alone because all tables were reserved. This was clearly false, as only three tables were occupied, and it seemed the staff simply made this up to refuse service.After paying the bill, it started raining heavily. We stood under the restaurant’s umbrella, but the main waiter walked around with a look that clearly suggested we should leave immediately. He didn’t approach us himself—instead, he instructed the second waiter to start clearing tables and even said he needed to close the umbrella. Only at the very end did he come over, in an angry tone, telling us to leave so he could close the umbrella. He could have shown some basic human decency, especially in such heavy rain, but chose to act rude and impatient instead.The staff’s behavior was completely unacceptable. The attitude toward customers was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I strongly advise against visiting this place—you will likely leave frustrated and mistreated.

While we didn’t stay at the hotel, we enjoyed a wonderful evening meal at the restaurant. We were seated promptly and menus were provided right away. We asked our server for advice about which foods and drinks represented Hungarian cuisine best. We loved the goulash stew and the cucumber salad with sour cream. Both were delicious and paired well with the local wine and beer he had suggested. The service was friendly and attentive and the cost very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant for a meal with a local and friendly feel.

We stopped by for a snack and a drink after exploring the Buda Castle area. We received a very warm welcome and were seated right away. The wait staff were all really friendly and attentive. We ordered a large bottle of water, which came with lemon slices and ice—refreshing! The beer and wine were enjoyable. The Hungarian Bistro Plate for two was exactly what we needed. It was served cold and included a variety of meats, spreads, pickles, and bread—all delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean, including the bathrooms. I’d definitely recommend stopping in for a meal if you’re nearby!

A lunch time meal. Two mature adults on holiday. we had the Breaded fried chicken and the paprika chicken. Bearded chicken was fab. Chips were good...Paprika chicken maybe not so good if I was being picky. Stella beer was great as was the local wine..staff were excellent..cost was a very reasonable just over €70. Just to finally add I very very rarely give a 5 star

It is a nice, famous place apparently. It is large and it was very busy on a Thursday night. Beer could be smaller and colder. Food was good but not delicious. The chicken was super cooked and dry. The tapas were tasty. I liked the place but would not recommend or go back.

The best food I have ever eaten, and I don’t say that lightly. Having read the reviews I wanted to try this place. The staff were so sweet and the food was cooked so fresh. We had the soup starters (including a delicious goulash soup), the chicken and avocado salad main, the fig and goats cheese main and the duck ragu … I have never tasted such fresh and delicious food!! It’s sitting as one of the top 5 of my life - wow, just amazing! We tried the pistachio tiramisu for desert which was tasty too. Not a bad price, friendly staff and the most delicious food ever. Would 1000% go again.

Delicious food served in a spacious environment, very popular with the locals. It is certainly advisable to book. Good for vegan and vegetarian. I had veal and Hungarian noodles with avocado and almond salad for starters and the whole experience certainly made my day!

I have been visiting Köleves for about 10 years once a year. I am frequently in BUD and was always amazed. Yesterday it was kind of disappointing as if a new owner/ team runs the Restaurant. No local beer, Strange food in a way not very Tasty. I told it the Crew an it was like that someone thought „I knew that this would Happen“

This restaurant must be one of the best I’ve been in a while. Our server was one of the nicest people I’ve met. He always checked on us and made sure everything was perfect for us. The food was simply delicious. We had a main course and a dessert which were not only very tasty but also well presented. The atmosphere in there is also great. There was a piano player that played all evening long and made our experience in this restaurant even better. I really recommend this restaurant but I would recommend to make a reservation.

Food was good, live piano was also very welcome, but what knocked it out of the park was the service team (Tomasz and Melinda), who were very attentive and bubbly and very eager to make everyone feel at home.

The food is very traditional and authentic, and the staff (or the owner) is very nice and friendly, even encouraging me to take more photos 😂. There’s live piano music, and surprisingly, the prices are not that expensive.

Lukewarm food. Probably would have tasted good if they just took the time to heat up the food. I have never experienced this in a decent restaurant. You are right, that’s not 2 star. Only one. You better not say anything to the staff, they might spit in your food before they reheat it. This is Hungary.

Went to KIOSK twice during my stay in Budapest: once for lunch and once for dinner. Very atmospheric place with amazing food. Everything was delicious: chicken paprikash, truffle fried, veal tagliatelle. My favorite was their gin tonic with olives - the best I've had so far. Spectacular service and kudos to Thomas who attended me and gave his recommendations on food. A must visit gem in Budapest!

Great feel good place with outstanding food. We ordered Hunter Style veal, Duck confit and Chicken broth and everything was delicious as we expected. The best of all for me was desert Poppy Seed Bread Pudding: on the menu for 11 years already, and it was a special experience. Thanks to a great guy Thomas who was our waiter 🥳

We went there for a late lunch. The ambiance ia very nice and cozy, all of the waiters were very friendly. Definitely a good spot hang out with friends! The food was good, but it is on the pricier range. Though I would still recommend if your around the area.

Very good truffle fries, crispy and well seasoned. The location is nice – modern but still cozy. Drinks are well made and taste great. All dishes are well thought out, with good balance and quality ingredients. Presentation and taste fit perfectly.

What a gem to have stumbled on. A Variety of unique seating arrangements, both outside and inside. The interior space is decorated in such a fun whimsy, Boho kind of way. It's energetic, colorful and all about positive vibes. The music was a great compilation of different beats and was never too loud to interfere with our conversation. The food... oh the food! I had the traditional paprika chicken and it was everything and more than I was hoping it would be. I would absolutely revisit this restaurant! Bravo!!

Nice place to sit and relax while enjoying the best chimney cake in Budapest. Each empty chimney cake cost 2.2K Forint. They're good enough to eat as it is, no need the filling of ice cream or other stuff. The cafe has comfy seats and also clean toilet which my kid happily used for big biz.

This was by far the best one I’ve had in the city, the dough is soft, warm, and perfectly caramelized on the outside. What really sets it apart, though, is the ice cream. Unlike the artificial, low-quality ice cream you often find at other spots, this one is creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. The combination with the kürtőskalács is heavenly and makes it a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. Definitely a highlight of my Budapest trip!

Went there twice to get my chimney cake fix. Each time the chimney cakes were hot and fresh and rolled with the topping we want. It’s best cooled down but it was nice to have a freshly baked one.

While strolling around the city, we noticed lots of people holding these big, delicious looking ice cream cones and decided to give it a try. It was our first time eating it, and we didn’t really know what to expect, but it was amazing! The vanilla ice cream was creamy and milky, really smooth and tasty. But the real star was the chimney cake cone itself. Soft, slightly sweet, and warm, eating it on its own is already a treat, and with the ice cream, it’s next level delicious. If you’re in Belgium, don’t miss trying this, it’s fun to eat and absolutely worth it!

The pistachio chimney cake was 10/10. It was hot and warm when they served it. The almond chimney cake was tasty but the pistachio chimney cake with pistachio cream was the best for me. 10/10 warm and resently out of the oven.

I chose Nobu for a family dinner during our trip to Budapest. The restaurant is located inside the Kempinski Hotel and has a Michelin star, so we were excited to try it. In terms of ambiance and service, everything was spot on — the space is beautiful and the staff were attentive and professional throughout the evening. However, when it came to the food, I was a bit underwhelmed. As someone from Asia who has had sushi in Japan and countries known for fresh seafood, the sushi here just didn’t meet my expectations. It was more of a quick fix to satisfy my craving for Asian food than something I’d come back for. The other dishes — fish, scallops, and beef — were all just okay, nothing memorable. I had hoped for more, especially from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Considering the high price point, I was expecting fresher, more flavorful food. All in all, it was a nice experience, but not one I’d recommend purely for the food.

Although high end, this place is worth every penny. Excellent service, delicious food. Our waiter, Peter was so kind, well prepared and professional, he guided us through our journey during the evening. Thank you for this experience

The service was impressive, the atmosphere was quiet since one other table had occupants. That should have been a warning about how quickly the food sells or doesn't. I had ordered the Budapest lunch box, it was not at all what I had expected. The raw sushi felt tacky in my mouth like it had gone bad. I had never had that texture from sushi from anywhere. I tried everything the young server recommended. The sake was clean, the dessert was excellent and surprisingly good. The main dish should be re-examine before being sent out to customers. I expected better since I was told by a server that Nobu was Michelin. I would not recommend raw sushi here at Nobu in Budapest.

You can have the king crab and sea urchin in Budapest as inland, how impressive? The black cod, Chilean sea bass are outstanding, the grilled chicken and the tender steak are amazing! Unfortunately I can’t find my favourite sparkling sake mio, so sad. Good food, good service and good place, really recommend.

Nobu is without doubt my favourite restaurant in Budapest. While it does exist in many countries, for me personally it is the best in Budapest. The food is extremely tasty, well prepared and presented, just the right amount of filling, and honestly just perfect in every way. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, also accommodate to allergies very well. My favourite off the menu is definitely a Tuna tataki, their selection of sushi’s, and the dessert bento box. Have been going here for over 15 years now, and with no doubt will be going for another 15 and much longer. It’s a must go place when visiting Budapest, I really recommend.

Nobu Budapest has a great location and the décor is exactly what you’d expect from Nobu — stylish, modern, and very on-brand. The food was outstanding; the quality and taste matched any other Nobu I’ve visited. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the service. Drinks took a long time both to arrive and to reorder, and unlike other Nobus, dishes were often just dropped at the table without any explanation — leaving us guessing what we were eating. A few dishes from our order were also missed entirely, which we had to chase up after they hadn’t been put through. One other note for diners: the kitchen closes quite early for a Friday (around 10:30pm). We were at a business dinner and took our time, but towards the end we felt rushed as service wound down. Overall, the food and setting were excellent, but the service didn’t live up to the usual Nobu standard.

Our visit to Nobu Budapest was spectacular, we sat at the bench looking into the kitchen and I would highly recommend this, you totally forget where you are and become part of an experience. We were extremely lucky that the chef stationed in front of us was Chef Tamas as he is what made our visit so amazing. He talked us through things and spoke with us all night, even tho he was was very busy, his food is art! , he made recommendations that were faultless with some extra special touches, he is simply one of the greatest chefs!! The lychee martini was delicious and service was impeccable, I celebrated my birthday here and can honestly say it was the best way to spend it, I highly recommend this place and hope you are as lucky to see Chef Tamas too !

If you want to experience real Hungarian food in Budapest away from the tourist hustle, then Regos is for you. I had lunch there yesterday and it was a wonderful 3 course meal with many authentic Hungarian dishes to try! Everything was wonderful and the restaurant is beautiful! The goulash was perfect, the pork and dumplings was wonderfully seasoned and the cherry strudel was just the right amount of sweet and tart. Will go back for sure while I'm here.

We went there for the daily menu, which was delicious and came in big portions, for a reasonable price. We ordered goulash soup, chicken paprika stew with noodles, a sausage stuffed pork schnitzel with french fries, a cherry strudel, coke and raspberry syrup soda. The restaurant is clean, similar to a taverna, decorated with traditional items. As many of the previous comments have stated, the service was quite odd, as the old man that attended us was quite grumpy, hurried us to order and kept speaking in Hungarian, although we addressed to him in English. There is no service fee included in the price, you get to choose it. We paid by card. The younger waiter that attended us at the end(I guess it’s the old’s man son) was nicer and speaks English.

We came here for lunch on a Wednesday around 2ish it was pretty empty only 2/3 other tables seated so it was a bit quiet but the waiter was lovey and spoke great English and happy to answer any questions about the food (i’m vegetarian) and was very accommodating, the service was fast and the staff was attentive to each table. We ordered from the lunch set menu (only available until 3pm) and our total came to 5600HUF for the both of us, both had water, i ordered the mushrooms paprikash with dumplings and a side and my partner got the paprika chicken with dumplings and a desert we both loved our meals and left feeling full and satisfied i would really recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Budapest both for lunch and dinner, definitely take advantage of the incredibly cheap set menu if you can we flicked through main menu and the prices seemed fair. Overall love this place and would come back again.

this restaurant is great!! the cozy atmosphere, the attentive staff and the food! we arrived 45mins after they opened and got the possibility to be in a nice spot (for someone who loves being at the corner). not a touristic one so i highly recommend!! the dishes are very tasty and savory but i believe its salty for someone who isnt used to eat seasoned food (but i can assure they use spices and not just salt since it’s really their traditional way of cooking those dishes). The beer was also great!! Their portions are good for two people especially if you easily get full but if you’d like to taste more food then why not?

I really loveddddd this placeee! It felt like an authentic hungarian restaurant, and the food was sooo good. I ordered something with rice and fried mushrooms, but once i cut it, its so creamy inside and it pairs perfectly with the rice. The sauce they give is also perfect. Price is good for the portion, they gave so much rice i was so full.

A bit small place with great food. All different kind of food, Hungarian traditional and as well something else. This is place is tourist friendly, not expensive and fancy. The only "bad" thing is that the place is smaller, so sometimes you will need to wait outside for the table.

We were ignored on arrival and then asked to sit inside, even though there were empty, unreserved tables outside. The waitress seemed irritated when giving us a table, when we ordered a second lemonade, and again when we asked for the bill, which we waited over 20 minutes to receive. At one point she was even eating while setting tables, which felt unprofessional. The food was equally disappointing: the lemonade wasn’t enjoyable, the goulash had barely any meat, and the grill platter for two was bland and far too greasy.

Everything was EXCELLENT! At this restaurant, we had the best meal during our stay in Budapest. As far as I’m concerned, Börze is the #1 best restaurant in Budapest, and I believe that Börze has the best authentic Hungarian food that I have eaten in all of Budapest. I have been visiting Budapest for 3 weeks now, and I have eaten at Börze 16 times already! Yes, I have tried many other restaurants, but I keep coming back to Börze. Yes, Börze is THAT GOOD! The food is amazing, the prices are unequivocally affordable, and the entire staff is friendly & attentive!! Richard is also a superior server — I have gotten him as my server on several occasions, and he is excellent! Highly recommend Börze! If you’re visiting Budapest, do not miss this restaurant!

Such a great restaurant! The meal started with pancakes with chicken stew, the goulash and the mangalitsa pig cheek as mains and the poppy seeds cake for dessert. To drink we had a cocktail of the day and a glass of wine. This was for me one of the best restaurants in Budapest, the food was super tasty and the portions were more than enough. The restaurant itself is so nice, good to have just a drink or to get something to eat. Definitely bookmarked for a return trip to Budapest.

Really nice restaurant, with really good food and a great service. Although it looks fancy, the prices aren't too high. I ordered chicken coated in walnut (don't remember the exact name, but it's similar) and I really liked, the dish was tasty and it comes with a really nice salad which was very good, it had some apples and lettuce with a tasty light sauce. For desert I asked for a gluten free cake made of chocolate and raspberry, it was really light and tasty. I really recommend this restaurant, because of the tasty food and the nice service we had as I already said.

Food is fine but service is very slow. Waited for around half an hour for our food to be served. Did not expect them to serve customer with a chipped off plate (as shown in the picture). Staff is not very friendly too. Expected the pork to be soft but the meat is quite tough.

Wow, was pleasantly surprised at how nice our meal was! Everything we had including the drinks tasted great! It was actually our favourite meal whilst in Budapest, so much that we actually wanted to go back again! To top it off was the price, very good value especially compared to London prices, 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 non-alcoholic drinks including service charge £28!!! Nice and relaxing atmosphere (although the collection of private pictures on the wall is of dubious taste). The food is delicious and expensive for Budapest standards. Good service, with staff speaking English. We had the Fried goose liver with potato chips (very good but also very fried!) and the Pork with ratatouille (very delicious and spicy). We drank water and a draft beer and paid about 12k ft (~ 37 euros), including service.

We stumbled upon the restaurant on a blog post. Reservation by phone was not a problem. Service was helpful and attentive. The restaurant's interior is definitely an original, but adds to the charm in my personal opponion. We recommend you try the Lescó and the Sólet with duck liver, but also the crispy duck leg was outstanding. For a desert was unfortunately no place left, but the plum Palinka was a perfect finish. I would come back next time!

We started with the sautéed garlic shrimp—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. Then we had the creamy asparagus soup and the hearty beef soup. Both were excellent. The asparagus soup was smooth and rich, while the beef soup was comforting and deeply satisfying. The service was warm, attentive, and professional throughout. We felt truly welcomed. What really made the experience special was the stunning view from the terrace. Overlooking the city, it’s the kind of place where you want to linger, take in the scenery, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. A wonderful spot for an afternoon break or a relaxed meal. Fabulous. There are only a few restaurants that I will remember forever. This is one of them. Everything fits. Beautiful view over the city. Live piano music and of course the most important thing: the food... Fingerlikking good. Also a real relaxed staff which actually liked to serve. I'm not from Hungary, so I dought if I ever will be back, but I wish I could!

I honestly did not expect to find gluten-free & vegan langos in Budapest, but this restaurant made it possible even for people with food intolerancies. That is awesome. There is enough chairs to sit inside or outside, no need to book a reservation. This place is very popular, but staff are working really fast. Standard langos is prepared in 2-3 minutes, for gluten-free langos I had to wait around 10 minutes, but it was completely fine for me. The portion is quite generous, I was really full after eating it. Taste was awesome, just like regular langos although this was vegan & gluten-free. Next time I will just ask for more garlic, otherwise it was simply perfect. I know where to stop next time when I am in Budapest.

The lángos were absolutely delicious. It gets quite crowded around lunchtime, but it's definitely worth the wait. We tried lángos at several places around Budapest, and I’d highly recommend it. The atmosphere was great, too.

LOVED the place, so budget friendly, fast, tasty AND clean! For 3 people we paid a total of 38€ (with drinks!) I recommend the Langos with ham and rucolla and the one with chicken tzatziki! Also, for drinks I recommend the Dreher Meggy (has a sweet cherry taste). Would definitely come here again and recommend this place to a friend visiting Budapest :)

We were told to try the Langos while in Budapest. We chose Retro for a combination of convenience and after searching other nearby restaurants for Langos. We were thinking it would be sit down type restaurant, but you order your Langos at one counter, and your drink at another, which was fine. The food came out quick, afterall, the Langos can be fried/prepared fairly quickly and then topped with your favorites. We enjoyed what we had. Surprised these haven't been introduced here in the states.

Didn’t know Langos is this tasty. I didn’t expect much but the combo of the dough/sour cream/cheese & fried onion was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is very casual so you can really sit anywhere. Easy to order things over the counter and they serve it to you at the table. The restaurant itself is small inside but they have ample seating outside. We got lucky with the seating. This place is located a busy area and easy to get to some metros around the area. Highly recommend trying this place.

Szimpla Sunday Market – A Hidden Gem in Budapest! If you’re in Budapest on a Sunday, DO NOT miss this place! Szimpla Kert transforms into a cozy farmers’ market – and it’s amazing! Come between 9 and 11 AM – fewer people, better vibes, and perfect for stunning photos 📸 You can eat breakfast or brunch right there – super tasty, super local. Drink a coffee, or try the cheapest elderflower soda (bodzaszörp) in the whole city. Seriously. It’s delicious. This place is full of character – weird stuff on the walls and something new to notice every time you look around. It’s a market, a ruin pub, and a photo shoot location all rolled into one. Go. Explore. Eat. Sip. Snap. Repeat.

Cool location for a Sunday Farmers Market. I can imagine this place hopping at night as a hot spot to hang out with friends for deinks.

Friendly shop staff, good cheese … moo! But talk about trying too hard (surrounding bar floors; though they are very pretty).

Such a fun Sunday to spend at the Farmer’s Market here. There was a wide range of things to purchase, including cheeses, cured meats, local paprika and herbs, honey and even some goulash. All of this while being inside of a “Ruins Bar”, adding a grungy vibe.

There were a few stalls, and it was fun to see Szimpla Kert, but it was very busy. I think it might be better if you're looking to have a drink and enjoy the music/vibe, rather than for people wanting to look round a market

This is a very interesting place because during Friday and Saturday night, Szimppa becomes a bar areas with stylish youngsters gathering for drinks, dating and fun. As on Sunday morning. The space are filled with stalls of agricultural produces. The contrast is very big. One can tell the quality of food there is of high quality, the diversity is quite limited. There are roughly 10 over stalls only.

Stopped here for lunch and cake. Really lovely spot with homemade traditional dishes (vegan style) and some western staples too. The service was relaxed and easy going. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area!

Simply amazing! The restaurant is in a sort of basement so the atmosphere was cosy and romantic. It was not very loud in there which was also nice. The woman who worked there was really helpful with soy-free suggestions, and you can also choose how many ml you want your drink to be (which i loved). You could also get free water. The food was amazing and I love that we could also try traditional Hungarian dishes. Even the dessert was amazing

Stopped in here for lunch and had the most delicious vegan gyro plate. It had tons of flavor and the sauce was perfect for dipping the fries as well. I also had to have the creme cake (I think they call it Napoleon cake?), and it did not disappoint! Very casual vibes with free water and lovely service.

Definitely a hidden gem! If you're looking for great vegan food, this is the place. While the menu is small, everything they make is delicious and fresh. I highly recommend the vegan gyros—they're a game changer.

A must visit in Budapest! The food is really good and everything is vegan. Our waitress was really nice and the location is pretty good. The price is good too, you can get fod for about 6-8€. And drinks aren't that expensive either.

Lovely time! I recommend the Vegan bean Goulash. It has a lovely smoked taste. The staff is very helpful and lovely. If you just want to try some paprika dishes in their vegetarian forms, consider coming to Kozmosz!

Visited this gem of a restaurant last night with my partner - I'm vegan & he is non-vegan and we BOTH loved everything about this place! Lovely peaceful atmosphere, the food was absolutely incredible - he had the BBQ seitan I had the Gyros style soya strips (pictured). We also shared the cream cake for dessert and it was delicious. We've been in Budapest for 8 days & visited a few vegan restaurants, and this was by far my favourite. The restaurant is run by a mother & daughter team which makes the place even more endearing. Highly recommend a visit if you're visiting Budapest 😊

Everything was perfect. The hungarian food was amazing however the meals were a little bit salty for us. We had 2 beef gulash soups, a sausage and a duck. We really enjoyed the food. Also the place has no chairs which was also a downside for us

The best blood and liver sausage I've ever tasted and trust me I've tried many. Mangalica steak was OK. Order the sausages and meat, do not take too many side dishes as we did. Place is simple, crowdy and perfect for a quick lunch. The service was super nice and helpful.

Walked past this grill resto and it didn’t disappoint. Offers authentic grilled hungarian meat with side dishes including all sorts of salad and rice. The grilled pork and sausages with corn and potato salad were amazing.

Everything looked so good so I was unsure of what to get but I went with the duck & mashed potatoes and some pickled veggies. It was delicious! I loved the mashed potatoes! And the duck was tasty too. I had them heat up all my food in microwave as I like my food hot. The pickled beets was the best I have had in a long time and I topped it off with a draft local beer. My friend got the curry chicken, it was so so. Overall it was a good experience!

The sausage was good. Duck is dry. Not really worth the money compared to more traditional Hungarian soup bars. A bit of a tourist trap

You must try these sausages if you're ever in Budapest! The blood sausage was my favorite; it was absolutely delicious. The pickles were nothing special, but they were fine.

We went here after seeing the high Google ratings but were completely disappointed. We specially visited to try Mediterranean food, but it turned out to be a terrible experience. We ordered the hummus falafel bowl — easily the worst one I’ve ever had. The pita bread was cold, hard, and not at all fresh. The food lacked flavor and authenticity, and we couldn’t even finish our meal. The location isn’t great either. We left hungry and irritated — overall, the worst experience and a total waste of money.

Nice place with nice and healthy menu options with vegetarian and non vegetarian items. Located within a food court like premises surrounded by other couple of bit high end eateries near by but still stands out. Economical and tasty, their falafels are awesome and so is their ‘hummus complete’ combo! Recommend and will visit again during my stay in Budapest!

Very good food. Tabouleh is not actually tabouleh, is a salad with tomato, cucumber, onion & parsley, but overall was delicious

Some good options for a vegan brunch, although the food was a little low on the flavor. I ordered the falafel pita and the charira (Moroccan silk soup).

I ordered hummus tabbouleh, but the tabbouleh was not tabbouleh at all rather a salad with big cucumber (tabbouleh isn't supposed to have cucumbers anyway) The staff was nice, the order was served in an average time. The restaurant is ok, but not the best.

One of the best places to eat if you're living near this area. The service and the taste is amazing with perfect ambience and cleanliness. Charming waiters adds very positively to the whole atmosphere. Keep it up!

The perfect place for a nutritious breakfast. The service was very friendly and helpful. The dishes we chose were delicious and filling. The dessert was the perfect ending to our breakfast, and it was delicious. I highly recommend it, and if we come back, we'll definitely visit again.

Very well situated just across the street from Basilica. Food is tasty and service is good, there are also vegan options available. All day breakfast and brunch which is amazing. Recomend visiting while in Budapest.

Had a cute little brekkie with my friend for the very first time at Brunch Bistro Budapest. The English Breakfast was sooo delicious and the view was simply the best!🥞🥓☀️ Every dish is elegantly plated with refined aesthetic appeal, complementing a depth of flavor that is rich and flavorful. The service was nice and welcoming. Might come back to have a taste of their Eggs Benedict though!

Positives: - burger/sandwich (it's something in between) was ok-ish for the price - good value for money - paid 5000 HUF for 2x burgers and 1x french fries Negatives: - the french fries were greasy - the service was and food preparation was slow (wr were the only one there) - the atmosphere was so-so as the AC works just at one part of the restaurant, the other parts are very hot in summer Overall: 4/5 Recommended alternative: Vaslap Burger - just few steps from Rapaz is one of the best burger place in Budapest; would recommend it instead of Rapaz

Stopped in on a walk home. I got the OMG burger with fries. Honestly, I shouldn't have got the fries as the OMG was massive and a whole meal on its own. Tasted good and was decently priced.

A cool style chicken schnitzel sandwich street food place in the busy downtown. Staff is very friendly the atmosphere is casual service is fast. You can have a menu (soup+sandwich) or just the sandwich on its own. They help you pick the right one. Definitely worth stoping by if you are running around downtown

Sort of street food, but tasty and fun, if you’re passing by give it a try. I ordered a chicken soup and corn baby sandwich by the suggestion of the chef there. I’m satisfied. Close by the main streets & metro etc.

We bought 2 soups one double cheese and a Caesar salad,the soups were great and the burger its with stuffed chicken,just excellent,so juicy and tasty ,one of the best places in Budapest,you should try it,big portions and great price.and the gentleman explained us everything about the menu.🙏🙏🙏🙏

The OMG is the best! Paired with homemade bbq and fries its a portion that is super big :) even the hungriest will be full. Great visit yesterday and have to come back again soon!

Wanted yo have nice breakfast so googled and found this bagel shop. They have nice options for the breakfast. Nice location. Also have sitting option available. Ordered egg and bacon, vegan farm and pesto bagel. Loved the vegan farm ( with the flavor of honey mustard dressing). They have lot of bagel bread options too ( sea salt, poppy seeds, oats and plain one). Staff is very nice and friendly. Would totally recommend this for breakfast.

We’d heard good things about this bagel shop so we decided to try it one afternoon. The guy was very friendly and after he made some recommendations, we ordered the smoked salmon and cream cheese poppy seed bagel. It was amazing! The bagel was so good that I’d have enjoyed eating it alone but the generous amount of filling made it delicious. They also do coffee and juices. Both were good.

Absolutely amazing. Friendly staff, vegan options are available, the bagels taste incredible. If we come back to Budapest, we'll definitely get another bagel here.

It's good to see a bagel shop that takes itself seriously! Not your usual dry deli dish - these guys have hot fresh buns, a generous amount of sauce and fillings with tasty meat and vegetables. Coffee is also very smooth. Highly recommended! Their bacon-egg is the perfect breakfast :)

This fine establishment is wildin’. The bagels smack, the smoked salmon is poppin’ and the scrambled eggs slap. Prices are lit, so roll through. Legit.

Small cozy new bagel shop that I discovered accidentally when I just passed by. Ran by two people and despite the popularity the service was fast. The cappuccino was tasty and the bagel was mouth drooling! There were 12 options you could choose from, including vegetarian and non-veg options. Price ranging from 1090ft - 1690ft. When people were asking for the soup, the lady replied “csütörtök”, so I’m not sure but maybe you can also order soup on Thursdays. I had the egg and bacon bagel, but will come back to try others!!
