Mussel Inn Seafood Restaurant is a lively and informal bistro located in a prominent city center. The restaurant offers a wide range of seafood dishes, including mussels, oysters, lobster, and more. With its friendly service and excellent value for money, it's perfect for families, business lunches, dinners, and celebrations.
The food was delicious. I had this placed saved on my lost prior to arriving and happened to stumble to it fairly early so there was no wait. And the food arrived fairly quick. I'm a huge seafood lover so I adored this spot. There was plenty of scallops and crab meat in the dishes. Also, the staff were super attentive and quick.

Everything was great, from the seafood chowder to the pasta, burger, and of course the mussels. Even the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Service was amazing as well, advising that the full portion of mussels might be a bit much for 1 person, so not trying to over sell. Very impressed!
M.M. R — Google review
An amazing meal! We ordered the shallots and blue cheese 1/2 pots of mussels and they did not disappoint (although the shallots were better). The oysters, however, were honestly the best we’ve ever had. If we were going to spend more time in Edinburgh, we’d definitely come back!
Nita B — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! The seafood was incredibly fresh and full of flavour — everything tasted like it came straight from the ocean. The seafood chowder was rich and comforting, and the main dish was beautifully cooked and presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. Definitely one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve been to in Scotland. Highly recommended!

Managed to snag a last-minute spot at The Mussel Inn, and let me tell you… my oh my, it was absolutely worth it! My sister and I shared the Hot Seafood Platter and we demolished it 😆 — scallops, prawns, mussels, and seabass all perfectly cooked. The sauce/ soup tied everything together beautifully! And to top it all off, we had the Sticky Toffee Pudding, the perfect sweet ending to an amazing dinner. Definitely worth coming back to! xxx
Joelle K — Google review
We had a fantastic dinner tonight at Mussel Inn Seafood—a must-visit for any seafood lover in Edinburgh. As the name suggests, it’s all about the mussels… and they deliver! My wife went for the full pot of mussels, and I ordered the Shellfish Pasta, which came loaded with mussels, tiger prawns, queen scallops, and linguine, all bathed in a rich, flavorful shellfish bisque. Every bite was incredible. And let’s not forget the three baskets of bread we devoured—perfect for soaking up every last drop of that bisque. Fresh, generous portions, and full of flavor. We absolutely loved it.
Jerry F — Google review
Ordered their Seafood Plater with variety of seafood including their signature mussel and sea bass, prawn and king clamp. With the sauce beneath, add some lemon then the taste is just perfect. Fresh and quick to finish. Ordered Sea Bass as top up. With fried potato, salad (potato, chilli, leafed greens), crispy sea bass skin and the fish meat is fresh. Photo taken was not nice as only remember to take after eaten some😅 Waitresses are attentive to replace our bowl when mussel shells are almost full. Just a bit crowded between tables, and a bit noisy at peak hours but still manage to talk. Recommend to reserve before entering especially during peak hours. Can reserve from google maps here.
Zen L — Google review
Everything we ordered was super delicious. And price for mussels are so reasonable that you want to try all the flavors. Half a kilo was more than we expected. Fish platter and seafood cheddar soup are also recommended. We ordered garlic bread and normal bread basket.

Fish and chips takeaway
Located in Musselburgh, East Coast Restaurant is a renowned dining spot offering delectable fresh seafood and irresistible fish and chips for dine-in or takeout. Meanwhile, Crollas Italian, also in the area, is celebrated as one of the finest Italian eateries. Additionally, Mercat Grill in Whitecraig provides a family-friendly atmosphere with a diverse menu of mouthwatering dishes. The restaurant boasts an award-winning seafood restaurant and grill with both indoor and outdoor seating options.
Wow. This might rank in our top 5 restaurants ever! We came here after hiking much of the day and brought our appetites. Everything on the menu we ordered was the “best of” that particular item we’d had… maybe ever! The scallops thermidor and mushroom soup from the seasonal menu were outstanding. The fish and chips were spectacular - not greasy, not overly breaded, nicely salted. Service was so friendly, and they played perfectly nostalgic music (Bing Crosby, Sinatra, etc.). We finished with a sticky toffee pudding, and will definitely be back.

My wife and I went out for a rare date night here the other month. This place has been on my list of places to go for such a long time, after many recommendations. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The restaurant was clean and modern. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive but also weren’t felt rushed. The only downside was the price as it was expensive, but saying that it was very good quality. For starters I got the prawns and my wife for the calamari. Both were delicious and very well cooked. My only gripe that the prawns were quite a small portion but it’s probably a good thing as we shouldn’t be greedy. For mains, we had to get a fish and chips each. There were other appealing things in the menu but I wanted to see if their fish and chips lived up to the hype. It was lovely! The fish had a crispy outer with a soft and delicate centre and tasted great. The chips were very good too. The portions were large and not many people around could finish theirs. I also wanted to try the garlic roast potatoes. These were okay but would’ve preferred them if they were crisper. They did have a nice garlic flavour. We didn’t have a dessert because we were so full! Overall a very enjoyable evening meal and I’d love to come back!
Chaz C — Google review
Very happy with our experience, all three of us ordered different things and were very pleased with both the food and the service. The pasta was freshly made, the battered seafood was delicious, even the chips were particularly good. We'll be coming back!

Very nice restaurant. Went for the reviews and wasn't disappointed. We had lunch during the week and got to enjoy the lunch menu (2 courses for £23!) Don't be tricked by the "wee fish dinner" (see photo) it was big enough!! Had mussels as a starters and once again much bigger than assumed and delicious! Definitely recommend
Karine D — Google review
Good portion and the fish was not greasy and tasty. The sausage was also good. A bit pricy but definitely a good fish and chip shop to get something at.
Alistair S — Google review
We genuinely had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. We settled on the fish of the day (cod), lobster, oysters and minestrone soup, everything was very flavorful and the staff was so nice.
Sandra N — Google review
Very impressive gluten free/coeliac safe menu which we really appreciate! Very big portions and tasty, well-cooked food.
Erin C — Google review
We were quite hungry and visited this place for a late lunch. I would not recommend it if the goal is just to have a quick and filling bite, which is typical for a seafood restaurant I guess, except fish and chips. But if you would like to experience some delicious sea food dishes be prepared to pay a fair price, although most dishes seem to be overpriced as the amount of sea food is quite small. Nevertheless, food is very delicious 😋 Staff is friendly and polite, relaxing atmosphere with nice chilled music.

Breakfast restaurant
Dishoom Edinburgh is a must-visit for a unique breakfast experience. Their signature bacon-stuffed naan with chilli tomato jam is a crowd favorite, and the option for a double-stuffed version is available. Other breakfast highlights include the three-egg Parsi omelette and spiced chicken livers on toast. If you're looking for something different, their Breakfast Naan Roll, Keriwal, or Big Bombay won't disappoint.
Absolutely Outstanding Experience at Dishoom Edinburgh! From start to finish, everything about my visit to Dishoom was exceptional. The food was spectacular — every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The chili chicken had the perfect balance of spice and tenderness, and the chickpea dish with a sweet potato purée was absolutely to die for. The roti bread was soft and delicious, perfect for scooping up all that goodness. The margarita with the Indian spice rim was a fun and flavorful twist — absolutely delish! And to top off an incredible meal, I treated myself to a chocolate alcoholic chai that was simply amazing — rich, comforting, and unforgettable. The service was top-notch from the moment I walked in. A special shoutout to Becky, who was truly incredible — kind, professional, and so knowledgeable. She took the time to help me choose the best dishes and made the whole experience feel personal and special. If you’re in Edinburgh, Dishoom is an absolute must. Every bite and sip was perfection, and the atmosphere and service made it even better. I can’t wait to go back! PS- reservations are a must.
Jess S — Google review
I had high hopes for Dishoom Edinburgh, but unfortunately my visit was ruined by a combination of disappointing dishes and poor service. Atmosphere & Layout The restaurant itself is stylish, though not the easiest to navigate. The ground floor is mainly taken up by the open kitchen, with some window seating at high tables and stools. Most of the dining space is upstairs, reached by a very narrow staircase — barely wide enough for people to pass one another. The upstairs area is lively, divided into two sections by wood-and-glass partitions, with white beams, retro chandeliers, ceiling fans, and a mix of dark wood tables: some topped with green-and-white chequered surfaces, others with marble. There are nice views over St Andrew Square. Food • House Chai: The portion was tiny for the price and far too sweet, heavy on cinnamon and cardamom. • Chole Puri Halwa (£15.30): This “chef’s favourite breakfast” came with chickpeas, halwa, pickles, and one giant puri. Unfortunately, the chickpeas were overwhelmingly sour with too much tamarind, and the carrots were over-pickled to the point of being unpleasant. The halwa, while decent with a good nutty topping, felt misplaced — it would have worked better as a dessert at the end of the meal rather than served alongside everything else. Service The biggest letdown was the service. On leaving, a waiter dropped not one but two plates of food over me and onto the table next to mine, which completely spoiled the meal. Overall Dishoom Edinburgh has an attractive interior and a lively atmosphere, but between the unbalanced flavours, small portions, and an unfortunate service mishap, my experience was far from enjoyable.
Travelling D — Google review
Having tried Dishoom before in London, I already knew what to expect… and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The food was bursting with rich, authentic Indian flavours and perfectly balanced spices that make every bite memorable. The atmosphere in the Edinburgh branch is warm and inviting, with that signature Dishoom charm. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but honestly, the quality and taste make it worth it. Note that you need to have reservations to get in.
Sahar B — Google review
Amazing food and ambiance!! Loved the mutter paneer and jackfruit biryani. The blushing colada drink i had was also delicious. Definitely one of my fave Indian restaurants now, can’t wait for the NYC location to open! Service was also very friendly and accommodating of my sister’s severe allergies so that was a plus
Shar G — Google review
Stylish art deco era style restaurant with various Asian influenced meals. We came here for breakfast where I chose a parsi omelette. My partner chose a sausage and bacon wrap. Both were infused with Asian spices which gave it a nice kick. Coffee was good 👍 Service was excellent 👌 Vegetarian options are highlighted The food is cooked fresh downstairs, seating is upstairs. Food is described well on the menu. Toilets are clean with great decor. Booths available as well as group bookings. Many thanks for the recommendation

We had such a fantastic experience at Dishoom! The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavour. Our server, Ross, was excellent he gave us great recommendations, checked back on us during the meal, and made sure we were well looked after. We tried the Okra Fries, Amritsari Fish, Mutton Pepper Fry, Garlic Naan, Chicken and Rhubarb Biryani, Basmati Kheer, and the Charred Lamb Chops; which were spot on. Every dish was cooked to perfection and the flavours really stood out. The service was attentive and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Definitely one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Edinburgh.
Richie C — Google review
Thank you, Dishoom for the amazing vegan menu that you offer. Every single thing we ordered was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the chole, pau bhaji, okra fries and chilli broccoli salad. The gimlet was also extremely delicious. Cheers!!
Hilary B — Google review
I had the most delightful Indian breakfast here in Edinburgh! It’s such a refreshing change to find authentic morning dishes beyond the usual options. The flavors were spot on – warm, comforting, and full of spice without being overwhelming. The masala chai was perfectly brewed – strong, aromatic, and just sweet enough. The chole poori and halwa served with fresh salad chilli and pickle . I also tried Parsi omelette which was amazing served with nice toasted bread and some grilled tomatoes Every dish tasted freshly made and true to its roots. The service was warm and welcoming, and the staff took time to explain the different breakfast items, which was great for anyone new to Indian breakfasts. The atmosphere was cozy, making it a perfect weekend brunch spot. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a hearty and authentic Indian breakfast in Edinburgh – it’s a gem!

Bread Meats Bread is a go-to spot for American-style BBQ with a decadent menu. The Angry Bird, featuring fried chicken drenched in buffalo sauce and jalapenos with blue cheese mayo, caters to spice enthusiasts. For a heartier option, the BBQ beef brisket toastie offers 12-hour slow-cooked brisket in smoky BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions, and a blend of cheeses between buttery brioche slices.
I love a good burger and this place did not disappoint! I went for the Luther Burger (many recommend it on the Google reviews) and added a fried chicken burger... absolutely delicious! The beef burger was so juicy, and you could taste the quality. The doughnut bun shouldn't work... but it just does! I also had the chilli cheese bacon tots and, again, delicious! My partner is not a huge burger fan, and she really enjoyed her meal. Service was fantastic, and I highly recommend you visit here if you are a burger lover! Would come back again!

Bread Meats Bread is a fantastic spot with amazing food and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The bonus? They offer a dedicated gluten-free menu, which is a game-changer for those with dietary restrictions. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality, comfort food in a great setting!

Loved the menu. It's all very morish. So much flavour. The burgers are huge and the chicken delicious. We went twice. The gluten free options were very good. My celiac wife said it was the best burger she has eaten.

Booked a table in advance for a Friday evening reservation - seated immediately and pleased with the gluten free menu options. Arrived with an allergy marker on the plate which increased confidence. Mains were good, sides a little greasy. I was disappointed to see a service charge was added onto the bill automatically for our table of 2.

A place we missed out on during our last rip to Edinburgh but thankfully Jasmin managed to squeeze us in - Defiantly recommend booking here and you can see why! The service was excellent and the food a delight! We actually managed to get here for Brunch two days running - Excellent all round and we will be back - Thank you!
Ben W — Google review
Found Urban Angel cafe online and decided to try it out based on the positive reviews. Inviting atmosphere and staff found us a table pretty quick even though they have reserved signs on. Ordered an iced latte with oat milk and a mocha as they don't do any syrups sadly. The iced latte was good but mocha slightly disappointing as tasted a bit like grit due to use of cocoa (?) and it not mixing well at all. Had the French toast with apple and while sweet, wasn't over bearing and overall tasted yummy. Also ordered eggs benedict with chorizo but was served the bacon version for some reason. Mentioned to the staff they brought out chorizo but not spinach. After querying again with them I said we ordered the chorizo eggs benedict to which she replied yeah you've received the completely wrong dish. She did offer to take the dish away and supply the proper meal which we were grateful for but seemed silly at that point as half off the egg / muffin had been eaten while waiting. Another disappointing factor was the eggs were over cooked and more like full boiled eggs. After good reviews online our experience was a bit of a mixed bag sadly.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast! Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. The hummus on toast was honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had, so fresh and full of flavour. The eggs benedict with mushrooms, spinach, and added halloumi was incredible, perfectly balanced and packed with a special, unique taste. And the French toast with banoffee was on another level, I loved the mix of yoghurt, caramel, and nuts, it was just divine. Definitely coming back again and would highly recommend this place to everyone!

What a find! After some online searching for the perfect breakfast spot in Edinburgh, I came across Urban Angel and we booked the last available pre booking slot for 11am. We arrived to see the place bustling and a queue outside - as we had our online booking we were quickly shown to our table. Inside the place is fantastic. A tastefully converted old house with original stoves along one side and old photos around the room. It was busy and full of people enjoying brunch or catching up with friends. Our drinks and brunch were exceptional. The attentive staff couldn’t have been more helpful - observant, quick and plenty of their team bustling around to provide fast service in this very popular spot. We are so pleased we found this place and will be sure to return on any future visits to Edinburgh. Thank you all for a great experience and wonderful food.

Amazing brunch with friends! The service was fantastic and we all said how lovely each member of the team was, it just made the experience something we talked about fondly afterwards! The food was delicious (especially the French toast!) and the overall atmosphere in the venue was perfect. Can’t wait to come back next time we visit Edinburgh! Thank you all

First stop on a spontaneous Edinburgh trip. Was not disappointed, rather surprised on how amazing the roll was i had. I don't know why, but chilli Jam works. Try it! Huge bonus points too for the Gluten Free options as my girl is well catered for here... The staff are very polite and really friendly. They even gave us more recommendations for other places local...

Canadian restaurant
Down The Hatch Edinburgh is a Canadian-inspired restaurant located in the city center, offering comfort food and a wide selection of beers. Originally based in Queensferry, it has now expanded to Antigua Street in Edinburgh. While currently operating for delivery and collection only, the restaurant eagerly awaits the opportunity to welcome customers inside. The menu boasts mouthwatering options such as triple decker burgers, giant breakfast skillets, naughty shakes, and daily specials that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
As a Canadian, my first thought upon reading about haggis was "I wonder how it is on poutine?" This restaurant delivered the answer to that question, and the answer is, pretty good! The cheese curds weren't quite the same as back home, but it was close enough.

Went for lunch and it was delicious. Great atmosphere inside with great music playing, large TV playing some ice hockey. Food came so fast and the place was really well staffed and organised. Prices were really reasonable and the food was so worth it!! Recommend for anyone in the area!

On my initial trip to Down the Hatch, situated at the summit of Leith Walk, I ordered a smash burger along with fries. Both were delicious and of excellent quality. The seating is somewhat basic, accompanied by an array of interesting and quirky decorations that contribute to a chilly ambiance.

Taste of Canada in the heart of Edinburgh. Great food, atmosphere and service! Sat and watched an ice hockey game, enjoying haggis poutine and beef dip sando. Chris was a great server and Id recommend checking out this Canadian style gem.

CANADIAN APPROVED! after my two weeks in Scotland and having chips frequently, I was dying for a poutine. Found this treasure of a restaurant on my last day. Great food, outstanding poutine. The house poutine is your quintessential Canadian poutine, nothing fancy just the classic fries, cheese curds, and brown gavy *chefs kiss*. The novelty of having a Canadian themed restaurant to sit in was amazing. Friendly staff, quick service. A great place to eat! I had the house poutine with a buffalo rach Royale. My friend had the dirty fries.

I had the stake, peppercorn sauce and chips the atmosphere was brilliant we had really fast and nice servers and the ice hockey game is must to watch. The Canadian atmosphere really helps it and I really enjoyed it.

Valvona & Crolla, a renowned Edinburgh establishment since 1934, is Scotland's oldest wine merchant and holds a Royal Warrant. The Contini family oversees this Italian outpost, featuring a deli packed with Italian gastronomic delights and an attached cafe restaurant. VinCaffe, part of the Valvona & Crolla family, offers its own bakery-made bread and olive oil alongside an excellent wine selection.
This was a new find for me and I think I’ll be going here every trip to Edinburgh from now. So much to browse through, hard choices to be made on what to purchase cos everything looks so good! The deli selection is amazing - in fact, every section is packed with beautiful, extra special items. We had a coffee and dessert at the cafe too, which was delicious.
Lorraine M — Google review
The menu here is seasonal, which can be a hit or miss depending on what you’re expecting. The restaurant is tucked away at the back of the deli and was fairly quiet during our lunchtime visit. We had come based on the menu we saw online, only to find that it had completely changed - not a problem at all but something to be aware of before visiting. We ordered a range of dishes to sample a bit of everything: Salmone to start, Crab Linguine, Mushroom Tagliolini, Mozzarella Penetella (toasted sandwich), Torta di Polenta and Torta di Limone. Unfortunately, the Crab Linguine was underwhelming - the flavours didn’t come through and it had very little crab. The Torta di Limone also felt overpriced for the portion size. In contrast, the Torta di Polenta offered much better value, both in taste and size. The highlights for us were the Mushroom Tagliolini and the Mozzarella Penetella, both full of flavour and well-executed. That said, while there were a couple of standout dishes, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return

Wonderful place. Our 3rd time here and couldn’t ever leave less than a 5 star review. Today simply had a pain au chocolat and a cafetière of coffee but both were as special as usual. Could not fault this place. And could never come back to Edinburgh without returning here. I would advise booking in advance as it’s very popular. And rightly so.

3 stars for the food. We also got meats and cheeses from the deli. Robiola tre latti is a 3 milk cheese which is super creamy, very mild with the teeniest sourness. Salami Milano was alright, quite waxy texture so a lot of bite. The salami finocchio is better, and we are super lucky to get that on discount, with umami and aroma from the fennel seeds. Food from restaurant: Cantaloupe w prosciutto was alright, both ingredients were not top tier but serviceable Crab linguine was alright as well, I can see why some people say it's not good, but portions were generous and it wasn't bad by any means, but definitely not superb either. What's superb is torta di polenta, with such an incredible depth of flavour and a pleasant texture that I cannot believe it was made with so few ingredients. This is a must try

Wonderful Italian food and drink shop. We loved browsing through the unusual flavours and tastes of the many different condiments, oils, chutneys, pastas, fresh foods, etc...etc. We didn't eat here but that is an option to consider. We definitely recommend a visit.

We were drawn in by the deli which is fabulous but unfortunately the food is not as good as it should be. £20 pasta dishes should be top notch but ours were not, the apparent absence of Italians among the staff is probably why. Good wine though.

Excellent brunch in this beautiful institution. Even the bacon roll is elevated by the fresh bread and grilled vine tomatoes. Delicious coffee, too. My partner had the Verdure breakfast - grilled polenta, aubergine, peppers, tomatoes, courgette and fried egg. Not your standard Scottish fare!

Union of Genius, located on Forrest Road in Edinburgh, is a cozy and ethical soup cafe that offers a daily selection of delicious soups. The ingredients are locally sourced, and the menu includes options for vegetarians and vegans. In addition to their extensive soup menu, they also offer healthy salads, stromboli, gluten-free and vegan cakes, as well as artisan coffee and hot chocolate.
Such a cozy place! There’s a great selection of delicious soups, sandwiches, chili, salads, and much more — something for everyone. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a warm and tasty meal in a relaxed atmosphere!

Great chai latte, great prices considering the location, and all of the food was tasty and well portioned. I went with two other people, I had the chicken curry which was way bigger than i expected and really delicious. My father had the tomato soup and sandwich (pictured) and really enjoyed it. We sat outside and we were very comfortable and service was great. I've recommended this cafe to friends and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a nice lunch in Edinburgh.

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised by this amazing place. The owner is so kind and has great customer service. Helped me decide what to get and I was very impressed by the flavor in their soup and pastry. Very hearty and healthy. Makes you feel at home. Pairs great with the Edinburgh weather and vibe. Wonderful experience all around. Price is incredibly good as well.

Wonderful soup! My mouth is watering just thinking back to it... Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options available! My partner is vegan and Celiac and it's difficult for us to find a restaurant that can accommodate that, but they were more than happy to do so at Union of Genius, and we felt right at home.

Wonderful gem of a cafe! Highly recommend for its delicious soup options, made in house and presented nicely, with a good price point. Restaurant
Tupiniquim is a cozy kiosk located in Edinburgh's Quartermile, offering a delightful selection of gluten-free Brazilian crepes and freshly squeezed juices. Run by the husband and wife team, Fernando and Gardenia, this charming spot is housed in one of the original police boxes. Their menu features an array of savory and sweet crepes made with a unique batter consisting of tapioca starch, rice, maize, potato, and buckwheat flour.
This savoury Brazilian Crepe was absolutely gorgeous! Had the spicy ratatouille crepe with a mixture of goats cheese and mozzarella - really fantastic, best thing I've tried for a while! If I lived in Edinburgh, I'd want to come here everyday to try everything on the menu. Also it's perfect for people with coeliac disease, as everything is naturally gluten-free, so I felt very safe eating here. Definitely recommend, and I will return next time I'm in Edinburgh. Delicious!

Ok literally this place rocks! I was just looking for some gluten free friendly lunch places, and this place (a shack on the sidewalk) serves up AMAZING crepes it was just perfect for us. The people working here are friendly and so nice and clearly passionate about their food! Keep in mind, it's literally one person cooking, so if it's busy it may take a while to get your food but it's delicious and well worth the wait. There were plenty of little tables and benches around outside to sit at as well!

Vietnamese restaurant
SEN Vietnamese Dining in Edinburgh offers an exceptional culinary experience, combining authentic flavors with innovative presentations. The restaurant has gained a strong reputation for its fusion of Vietnamese cuisine, with dishes like Crab Risotto and Salt and Pepper Squid showcasing the marriage of local ingredients with global influences. Whether dining in or enjoying a meal at home, patrons can expect flavorful and well-presented dishes that cater to various preferences.
Authentic Vietnamese food! I've travelled to Vietnam twice and I have to day the food here tastes the same as I've had in Vietnam! The chef is Vietnamese so good expect nothing less. The staff were friendly and efficient. This has become one of my favourite restaurants.
Graeme W — Google review
I was disappointed by SEN. While the environment is well decorated and intimate, the food is below par. The summer rolls were rather small and very loosely wrapped, so they just fell apart after taking a bite. Chicken skewers were fine, nothing special about them. The grilled pork vermicelli salad was unbelievably greasy. There was a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl and the pork had a very soapy flavour (not in a coriander-soapy way but like actual soap). It was a fine enough dish but absolutely not worth 18 great British pounds. I would pay £12 at absolute max for a dish like that. They did take our coats when we sat down which I thought was nice until I realised they were hung right next to the kitchen. My coat now has a very strong fried smell that I am rather unhappy about. I wouldn’t recommend this place as there are plenty of other great Vietnamese restaurants with better food for half the price.
Nuala R — Google review
Had a lovely last evening. Ate the vegetarian summer rolls and the lemongrass Tofu. Had a delicious apple & ginger cider with it. Would also recommend the Vietnamese coffee! Everything tasted delicious, was delivered fast and the the waitress was very attentive. Book a table in advance!
Friederike E — Google review
I have wanted to come here for a while and finally had a chance a couple weeks ago with some friends. The restaurant was nicely decorated and I liked what they did with the ceiling, though it did seem somewhat tired. Services was very good, matching the 10% service charge imposed. I tried their stir-fry vegetable phở. No idea about authenticity, but it was delicious. My friends liked what they had too. I feel a bit priced out to come here on my own, but with the right company I'd definitely have this on my list. It's not very big so you probably want to book in advance.
S W — Google review
Very delicious food that was priced appropriately and the wait staff were also attentive and helpful. It had a sleek and modern atmosphere and also quiet, so I could actually hear my friend talk! Unfortunately it tends to get busy during peak hours, so you might want to make a booking or eat earlier!

I flew from Australia to celebrate my brother’s birthday. When I learned that we were going to a Vietnamese restaurant I rolled my eyes. When we walked into this restaurant my eyes popped out of my head. Amazing atmosphere combined with exceptional food and service, let’s not forget the wine 🍷
Shane R — Google review
I would have to say this might be the worst Vietnamese restaurant of all of the Vietnamese restaurants in Edinburgh. The prices are the same or above the average of other Vietnamese restaurants. BUT the food quality here is really…poor. I want to try this so I ordered two portions of Vietnamese summer rolls: £8.5 each but!!! Each portion only contains two shrimps! I was again cheated by the restaurant’s own photography: their official photography shows it is like four shrimps in side each summer roll! But the same price or even lower at any other Edinburgh Vietnamese restaurants you can find can give you at least 3 prawns in each portion of summer roll! It’s a total fraud! Because summer roll is one of the signature and the most common dish for any Vietnamese foods, I can guess that the rest of dishes would be of the same poor but pricey quality. Avoid at all cost, please. And one more thing, the taste is poor and plain. Again, you can find many other great tastes from any other Vietnamese restaurants in Edinburgh. Zero stars if I could give.

Our first visit to Sen was for a birthday lunch and we will definitely be back ! We were warmly welcomed by Tâm and shown to our table. There is a varied menu so it was difficult to make our choice as it all looked good. We started with Hai Phong Crispy Spring Rolls and a Chick Nest. This was followed by Stir-Fry Chicken Phò and a Chilli and Lemongrass Chicken. All the food was freshly cooked , nice and hot & very flavoursome. This was all washed down with a bottle of Merlot. A nice touch was a complimentary dessert of Ice Cream as it was my birthday, thanks. Total price including service was £91.85 which is a lot for lunch but we’ll worth it for a treat!

Bistro

Wine bar
LeftField, located on Barclay Terrace, is a charming and cozy bistro with a calming atmosphere. The restaurant offers a soothing view of the Meadows and features an intimate setting with only six tables and six seats at the bar. The menu includes tempting dishes such as slow-cooked beef brisket with pommes Anna, halibut with fennel and blood orange, and sumac roasted hispi cabbage with dukkah and chickpea dhal for vegetarians.
This is what an amazing neighborhood bistro should be like. It’s small - only six tables. The food was eclectic and delicious. I loved the view from the dining room with the large picture windows over looking the park and in view of Arthur’s Seat. Our server was very knowledgeable having worked at one of my favorite 3* Michelin restaurants in Spain. It was the last restaurant we got to try on our trip to Edinburgh and it was well worth it. Highly recommended!
Michael C — Google review
Leftfield has had a glow up recently, and the result is the same brilliant, fish-oriented food they've been serving for years is now served in a stylish and contemporary space that makes it a great special occasions option in Edinburgh. The stand out feature here is the service. The team are at once both warm and 'on it', making the whole thing a great experience. I'd recommend getting one of the sharing items for two if you can - the seafood platter is what they're known for, but this time we opted for the halibut and it was sensational. The desserts are a little less remarkable. A chocolate mousse with strawberry and shortbread that honestly would have benefitted from being a little lighter, and a Basque cheesecake that lacked the charred taste that's made it such a viral hit over the last couple of years. But regardless of being underwhelmed by the desserts, the rest of the menu is so wonderful it more than makes up for it.

Outstanding lunch! Beautiful fish (halibut) cooked to perfection and perfectly balanced entrée of grilled baby pea with pea and mint. Exceptional Basque cheesecake, perhaps even better than the famous one in San Sebastián. Every mouthful was a delight. Lovely gentle service and of course fabulous views towards the Meadows. Small but great farmer's market. The coffee was very good and the mutton pie + beef roll were delicious! Great place to come on a Saturday morning
Ken W — Google review
The smoked hake was alright but very expensive, about 10pounds for 250g The pulled pork was very tender and juicy, but rather expensive as well for 12. The crispy skin wasn't very good, it's very hard. Normally you have to request for it anyway so just dont Strawberries were great from the grocery stall in the centre, could have been sweeter but were very juicy and large. The only problem with that stall is the rather confusing promotion, there's many different signs saying different things and apparently all of the berries can be included in the 3 for 6.8£ deal, including some of the other fruits, but only 2 out of the 4 berries have the 4 for 8£ deal The belted Galloway steak really was quite good, it's extremely tender (so much so that I overcooked the cap thinking it wasn't done yet) and full bodied. However there's also a pronounced bitterness, not sure if it's just my problem but that really affected the enjoyment Kedar milk really was something. No wonder they have a perpetual queue, come before 1030 for a shorter queue. One sip and you immediately can tell the difference between theirs and normal milk. It's got a very pleasant natural underlying sweetness, is full bodied, and creamy in a very gentle way. Absolutely delicious, high fat content but not off-putting in anyway.

Great little farmers market to enjoy before your tour of the castle or city. There is a bus stop nearby making it easy to gather your items and hitch a ride. Fruit is not so easy to come by in Edinburgh but there was plenty here! I went to the produce stand and got blueberries and raspberries which were so delicious. Definitely a different flavor profile than the ones you buy in an U.S supermarket. I also stopped by the dairy market and got some delicious milk. It is pastureized unfortunately but had an amazing flavor to it as well. Lastly I stopped by the soap market and got some nettle soap which is great for eczema and other skin conditions. There were other amazing stands like fish, coffee, and handmade hats/scarves however I did not purchase any. Take a stroll through as you'll never know what you will find.

Edinburgh dinner surprise! I was in Edinburgh for a short overnight stay before an early morning flight to Hamburg. From my hotel window, I spotted a small Vietnamese pho restaurant and decided to give it a try. Pho isn’t something I can cook at home, so whenever I find a Vietnamese restaurant nearby, I always go for it. Just a 5-minute walk later, I was sitting down with a beef pho and coconut water. To my surprise, the order arrived in under 2 minutes — and I was done with dinner by 6:15pm! Fastest restaurant meal I’ve ever had (fast food included!) — and the quality wasn’t compromised one bit. The pho was flavorful, comforting, and delicious. Highly recommend if you’re in Edinburgh and craving Vietnamese food.

Ka Pao Edinburgh is a highly anticipated addition to the city's dining scene, having already gained a strong following in Glasgow. Located in the St James Quarter, this restaurant brings together culinary influences from Northern Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. Executive Chef Sandy Brown leads the kitchen team in creating a dynamic menu featuring small plates that showcase bold flavors and unexpected combinations.
Walking in this place randomly, what a surprise 🤩 The food taste fresh and very tasty. The restaurant is in the shopping male but with floor to ceiling windows on one side , what’s making this place more enjoyable and the view is on the W hotel who’s looking outstanding. Isabella who was our waitress was just perfect. She explained us the food menu perfectly also the drink menu. Isabella was stopping a lot to our table to be sure everything was ok and if needed more. This place is very nice and the service we got was perfect. We had the pardon peppers to start following by the pork and bone marrow sausage and after the green curry lamb shoulder with jasmine rice. Everything was perfect. What they recommended were 2 or 3 dishes per person and it’s enough. On my perspective. I ll be back for sure. Thanks again to Isabella🙏

Stumbled upon this gem last night. Had the most delicious dinner on our last night in Edinburgh. Ka Pao is a hidden gem in St James square. The food is tapas style small plates shareable. Every other dish was equally good . The corn with the coconut and shrimp flakes was so unique and delicious. Pardon peppers 10/10. Don't miss this amazing spot. Food, vibes and service 10/10. Came here to celebrate a birthday and could not have asked for better service. Staff were so attentive and helpful throughout our meal. Even before arriving and trying to booka table, staff were keeping us well informed and communication was always easy. The food was absolutely lovely. It often took me by surprise because you wouldn't expect to enjoy a corn rib or half a cabbage as much as I did at Ka Pao. I loved everything but if I had to pick a favourite dish it would be the seafood crackers. Well worth a try coming here

We had a brilliant meal at Ka Pao. The cocktails were excellent — the Coco Kwai was beautifully balanced and refreshing, and the Old Fashioned packed a proper punch (though we didn’t really catch the pandan flavor, it was still delicious). For starters, we tried the vegan corn ribs and patron peppers — both full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The mains were just as impressive: the hospital cabbage and gaeng garee curry were bursting with spice and depth, and the strip-fried broccoli made a great side. Every dish was vibrant and well thought out, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. We’ll definitely be back!

Visited Ka Pao Edinburgh on Sunday 5th October and absolutely loved it! I’m coeliac, and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable — they made sure everything was safe and gluten free. Service was quick, and the food came out fresh and beautifully presented. The cured yellow fin tuna with kiwi, mint nam jim and macadamia was light and full of flavour, the grilled squid with orange and roasted red nam jim was perfectly cooked, and the fried chicken with fish sauce caramel and pickled banana chillies was incredible — crispy, sweet, spicy and totally addictive. A brilliant experience overall — amazing food, great staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

It was my first time to eat here. My daughter already warned me that they ate here before and although the food were good, the fried chicken was far too sweet for them. I still wanted to try so I ordered the lunch menu which consists of corn ribs, beef pad kra pao, cucumber salad and rice. The corn ribs were, as everyone mentioned, a fabulous choice. Really tasty. I'd definitely order this again if I ever come back. The cucumber salad was quite nice too. Fresh with a nice lime flavour and spice. Unfortunately, the beef was very salty. Couldn't taste anything due to the saltiness. I was thinking of returning it but I havent eaten anything all day and it was already around 4pm by this time so I decided to just eat it. To manage the saltiness, I ate it with cucumber. I told them about this when I was getting my bill and waitress mentioned its probably because they use both oyster sauce and fish sauce. Informed her I cook with these ingredients everyday as I'm asian. Based on the colour of the beef which was really dark, i would guess they put too much soy. They need to taste their food before serving. It shouldnt leave the kitchen if its this salty. I had a lot of unfinished food, so they can certainly check the saltiness. I was ready to leave and pay my bill when they offered me a free dessert. I was actually messaging my daughter at this time saying that I need to visit Haute Dolci next to get some desserts to take the saltiness away. So I accepted this gesture. Desert was a nice chocolate mousse. Too much for me to eat but the gesture was much appreciated.

I love the atmosphere and service of the restaurant. The server was really friendly and helpful. The seating arrangement was nice and cosy. The taste of the food was okay, but a bit pricey. Overall, it was a nice lunch experience.

Chicken restaurant
Bucks Bar in Edinburgh, located at Hobart House on 90 Hanover St, offers mind-blowing giant burgers and gluten-free options. The cool rock bar vibe and great atmosphere make it a must-visit spot. Despite its popularity, the staff goes out of their way to accommodate guests without bookings. The Gravy Train burger is a massive portion with succulent fried chicken, nutty hash browns, and American cheese.
The food was absolutely banging and the service was excellent. Staff all super friendly and personable. Definitely the biggest chicken burger ive ever seen! The food was tasty, the chicken was beautifully tender, and the salad was really crunchy and fresh. The salt and pepper chips had a really nice flavour to them. Highly recommend

This bar rocks(literally & figuratively) . Our waiter(bald man, didn't catch his name) was super friendly and fast. The chicken wings fall off the bone and are super tender. Also, they actually have blue cheese here, instead of trying to serve buffalo wings with garlic mayo like some places do. Mac and Cheese is great too. Kitchen open until 11PM, really nice spot!

We walked in at 7:00 with no reservation, the server asked if we could come back in 20 minutes. We did and sat down right away. I ordered a boozy shake and it was so delicious. The food came out quick and and was also delicious. We went here based on other google reviews and we are glad we did.

Karoline was so lovely and helpful, not only does she make a damn fine margarita, she also helped me recreate the photo from my wedding day (we eloped in Edinburgh) and tracked down a Bucks t shirt in the size I needed at the other Hannover St bar so I could take a present home to the husband! Thankyou! Wings incredible as always and a great atmosphere - I wish we had Bucks Bars where I loive!

Great food, atmosphere and exceptional customer service from Rory. We were allowed to take our dog inside, and our server brought over water and treats for him. Outstanding. Thank you.

Portion size is extremely generous. Food itself was great. Temperature indicated freshly cooked and flavour was brilliant. I’m a very beige human in terms of spice, as in jalapeños make me sweat and are my absolute limit of enjoyment and pain. Medium Nando’s kind of guy. I ordered the ‘Buff Chick’ which had 2 chillies to indicate mild spice and it was honestly a little less spicier than I was expecting, I dare say I could’ve used one of their vast hot sauce selection. Next time I think I might! Definitely worth a visit. Staff were attentive and energetic. Lovely vibe!

All perfect! Rory attends us so so well. It was such a great experience and we of course come back soon! Para nuestros amigos españoles, un sitio super chulo que se come super rico 🤤

Super nice bar- it had a very nice rock vibe to it. The servers are fantastic, they recommended me cool drinks and made me feel very welcomed as a tourist. The burgers were super filling and had a great kick of flavour. The atmosphere was rock and roll themed and had a lot of neon signs. Overall this was the best bar we went to in Edinburgh.

Takeout Restaurant
Frites-Lothian Road is a popular spot known for its exclusive focus on fries. The menu clearly marks the limited options, with a favorite being medium fries with mayo. There are also plenty of vegan items available. Visitors praise the generous portions and variety of toppings, such as pulled chicken tikka and cheesy bonanza loaded fries. The large serving sizes do not disappoint, and the cheese varieties are particularly noteworthy.
Been wanting to go here for ages, and it didn't disappoint. Had the Cheesy Chipotle loaded frites. Quite simply, one of the best things I've ever eaten! I will be back!
Mark M — Google review
It was a great experience. I loved the decor and the place. It was small but organized. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Goodness, it was very delicious, everything was fresh and balanced. This won't be the last time. I will come back again. I recommend you try it. Don't miss it.
Razan A — Google review
Good atmosphere and place! Their fries are crispy outside, and soft inside! There are a variety of sauces so you can change things up if you want to. Prices are a little bit high but I think it's worth it. Good place!
Jason L — Google review
I used to like the sauces and the easy carry cone shaped wrapping. The 20p powdered flavours did not work, too little of them to carry through into flavour, and nor did peas, which was a sparse scattering of them. But the liquid sauce flavours were worth coming back for, + I developed a taste for with jalapenos. Then this happened on Aug 24, and they have never chosen to answer it. You wasted a portion, completely unnecessarily, as result of your servers trying to force what they thought best instead of what the customer wanted. Started with. As soon as I included jalapenos in my order, the order taker said, in that case it can be in a box instead of a cone. I can see no logical reason at all for jalapenos to require a box, With many previous good experiences of your cones. I said no it's fine to have them in a cone. Yet when they were served, they were in a box. So that after hearing my choice, they had still instead arrogantly dictatorially done what they thought best instead. It is a first line of liberty for consumers never to take treating like that. I objected, pointed out that I chosen a cone, so asked him to transfer it into a cone. The server at least took this without a big row, so I grant that. But he parked the box at the back and made up a cone from a completely new portion. When I objected to that, he 180° head-on misconstrued. He said don't worry it's a new helping - meaning he was assuming that's what I wanted. Yet I was saying the exact opposite, that there was no need to waste the original portion, he should transfer it from box to cone. He just did not take that as doable, and even as I was exhorting that I would have accepted the original portion transferred, he binned it in front of me with a shrug of fed up finality about it. That waste was unnecessary. (1) if any snobby standard for the product to look good prevented him from transferring the original portion, it was unnecessarily costly to you and wasteful. (2) the whole thing would never have happened if nobody had tried to dictate + arrogate onto the customer a different choice than I had made.

Really good for the price. Would recommend sticking to the small as it's a lot of chips 🍟
Nicole S — Google review
Visited here Tuesday 1st July the fries were so nice and crispy but still fluffy on inside I got a medium cone but it's big for me I shared with my toddler. I'm gluten free and when speaking to the lovely guy he asked why I was gluten free and explained I had celiac. I will definitely visit here again traveled from Sunderland and been looking forward to it. My old wish was if there was seating but it's a small place so it wouldn't be possible. Would also be great for more toppings gluten free as I could only get dip.
Chloe F — Google review
Nothing to write home about looks and atmosphere wise but more than makes up for it food-wise, which is what matters here given it’s street food. It’s a must-visit for any potato and chip lovers out there, just stick with small portions, despite the name they’re quite filling so it’s great value for money. Pictured is small box with bacon, parmesan and cajun spice.

We stopped by Frites for a snack and, based on the waitress’s recommendation, tried the Chicken Tikka Goodness. We went for the large size to share, and the fries were flavorful and satisfying as a meal. However, the place lacked a seating area, even for waiting, so we ended up enjoying our fries on the stairs of Usher Hall nearby.

Natural Food Kafe is a charming little cafe with a cozy atmosphere, offering an array of delectable treats. From their signature coffee drinks to flavorful soups, smoothies, and quiches, there's something for every palate. The highlight of the menu is the unique selection of all-natural, vegetarian, and eggless ice creams in exotic flavors like Guava, Paan, and Lychee.
Good coffee and food and you can even do laundry there! The owner will talk your ear off about Scottish History. When I told him I was from California, he’s like “Did ya know John Muir was a Scotsman!?” Highly recommended for the visiting tourist.

Great coffee. Staff is one of a kind. Graham knows a lot and has a sense of humor. The chef has some nice vegan options on the menu as well.

Really lovely and cozy place! Literally the only cafe that I found opened on Christmas Day! Staffs are really friendly and the coffee is really good! Worth to come!

Love the place and the coffee! And the 3 Scottish terriers are really cute and friendly 😍
Debbie D — Google review
Great café! I wish I knew about this place earlier. The owner is a real character. Such a relief to meet someone who jokes and tells stories, rather than just saying the same boring sentences in order to please the costumer. We had some interesting conversations and I got to try some great foods and nice coffee.
Nikos T — Google review
It looks nice from the outside, but don't get confused... it is nothing like the nice friendly welcoming natural food places around the world. I am not quite sure why owner have this kind of business, probably because it is trendy these days... This place has no spirit and the stuff and owner are rude with no sense of humanity or compassion. I read through the reviews here and it seems it only has so high rating because they offered free coffee to anyone who gives them 5 star rating. It speaks for itself when they need to buy good reviews...
