Hawaiian restaurant
The Japanese restaurant Asahi Grill Ward features comfort food such as oxtail soup and chicken salad, and is known for its quality. It is located in the Ward at the foot of Waialae Avenue in Honolulu, three months after it closed its Keeaumoku location to make way for a new condo development.
Great hole in the wall! I am giving it 5 stars for its genre. As far as low key catch all cooked Japanese food with breakfast. This place definitely has a cult following to it. Saw a lot of Japanese tourists and locals eating here on a random Sunday lunch. I’d definitely come back. For me this is like a hang over spot where you just need comfort food. They apparently have a good oxtail soup.
Mike C — Google review
I visit Oahu at least once a quarter, and every time, I make sure to stop at this spot. It has a relaxed, casual vibe and consistently excellent food. It’s definitely a local favorite. The oxtail soup with rice and ginger is my go-to—pure comfort food that hits the spot every time. While the menu has plenty of other great options, you really can’t go wrong with this classic.
Annette F — Google review
I was very thirsty later that night. Maybe it was the MSG or just the seasoning, but I really felt it. That said, Asahi Grill was lively with locals, Japanese, and other Asian guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Their famous oxtail soup is definitely worth trying – flavorful, rich, and comforting. The portions are huge! I even saw the table next to us packing up leftovers to take home.Affordable prices, tasty food, but be prepared for that extra seasoning!

We’ve been meaning to come here for years and finally happened to stop for lunch about 11:30 am. It was a sizable dining space and half full when we came in, looked like mostly locals so that was a good sign. Only one server handled the entire dining room competently and we got our meals fairly quickly after ordering. Hubby got the chicken katsu, and was surprised at how large the serving was for a mini. I got the cheeseburger meal, which is served with fries and a soda for $13. Loved the homemade burger party, but the bun was just meh - not toasted long enough to get the bread warm and soft, I ended up taking off the bottom off and eating it with just the top. Kept the lettuce and tomato, ditched the fresh onion. Fries were ok. The prices were very reasonable, we’ll be going back to try the ox tail soup, which everyone seems to be raving about. Parking available on the side, may be right for bigger trucks.

The best Oxtail soup in town 👍 Very typical local style restaurant But the foods are all great 👍 Must order the best. The price is very inexpensive 😘

Got there close to closing (8:30pm) they sat us and we order oxtail soup & oxtail ramen. Soup is light and delicious. I like adding ginger to the soup but the ginger taste was light just wish there was more ginger

Come and check this place out....asahi grill..local good food. Ordered the ribeye, teriyaki chicken and lup cheong fried rice. Was pretty good. Check em out next time your in the area. Limited parking. Go early.

We followed a blogger’s recommendation and tried Asahi Grill, since it is close by. We ordered the Combination Don (tonkatsu and shrimp tempura for $16.95) to go, since the description sounded appetizing. However, to our extreme disappointment, when we got home and dug into the rice bowl, it was so salty we couldn’t swallow a second bite. The saltiness is similar to eating an entire bowl of anchovies. The rice was loaded with the sauce, which was saltier than soy sauce. We threw away the entire bowl without taking a second bite. $16.95 down the drain. @Asahi Grill — your cook should try your food before serving… I’m pretty sure today was the last time we’ll ever try this place. Definitely not worth the money.

Japanese restaurant
TsuruTonTan, located at the Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki, offers a delightful dining experience with its handmade udon noodles. The restaurant specializes in chewy and springy udon noodles that are a hit among visitors. The menu features a variety of udon flavors and options, from thicker to thinner noodles, available in regular or large portions.
Located in the mall, this spot has some great udon. We came just for udon and it was amazing. Went with their tan tan, #1 udon and their creamy gratin udon. All of them had various depths of flavors and soup flavors of light to heavy. My favorite was the TanTan. Their Wagyu meat was also super soft.
Tony T — Google review
We ordered the Chicken Curry Deluxe Udon Set, which came with a California roll (other option was the spicy tuna roll) and vegetable tempura. The curry had a noticeable level of spice, but unfortunately, there’s no option to choose your preferred spice level. The vegetable tempura wasn’t freshly fried, our bites were soggy and oily, lacking that expected crispiness. We also tried the US Wagyu Sukiyaki Don with skinny noodles. The sukiyaki broth had a pleasant shoyu based sweetness, and there was a generous amount of mushrooms. However, the portion of wagyu beef was a bit sparse and could have used just a little more to feel balanced. The Yukari Fries remain a standout favorite, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a slightly sweet, nutty flavor and a hint of salt. They pair perfectly with the creamy white secret sauce. We visited on a Sunday around 12:30pm and were seated right away. We’ve been here several times before, and the menu seems to change frequently. Service is consistently fast and friendly. However, the interior is showing signs of wear, and we noticed a damp, unpleasant smell coming from the table and chair we were seated at by the wall. Parking in Waikiki is always a challenge, but they offer free validated parking for kamaaina, which is a definite plus.
Laura J — Google review
This restaurant was surprisingly very disappointing. The server recommended we order the number one item from the menu as well as the curry that was number four on the highly recommended menu. The number one rated item that we ordered was honestly not appetizing at all. It was just a bunch of meats, boiled in super plain, barely seasoned water. The noodles were cooked well, but some of the chicken tasted super raw. We also ordered some appetizers of chicken karage, cucumbers, and some drinks. The curry is definitely a 10 out of 10, but nothing else on the menu was worth it. After proceeding to tell the server that my order was super bad, she did nothing to make my experience at the restaurant better.

Diego was great. Awesome udon an sushi, plus $3.00 Sapporo is the best. That's their September special. But not a fan of the 2% kitchen fee
Jimmy J — Google review
the service and atmosphere is great but i honestly was not impressed by their udon. their sushi and sides were good but their udon, in my opinion, has always been over cooked (i’ve given it a couple tries). the udon servicing size is great for the more expensive price but the noodles have always been on the softer side for my taste.
Anna A — Google review
Parking is easy. Friendly stuff. Don’t forget to show your Hawai’i ID for Kamaʻāina discount. If you’re not local resident, don’t worry, they also have happy hour (open ~ 5:30pm) that everyone can enjoy. The keiki (kid) menu is good, my kid enjoyed and finished the udon. The set comes with udon with corn and fish cake in the little bowl. A tray with edamame, fried chicken, French fries and little salad. As for adult, the portion is bigger. If you can and love to eat then this is the right place for you. They serve both hot and cold dishes. I have kake udon, and the udon and soup were on point. My friends couldn’t finish their food. They also offered karaage, unagi, sushi, desserts. Ps. 18% gratuity is included for 7 people or more.
JNA K — Google review
We went to TsuruTonTan for their 50% off special menu after 8 PM, and it was such a great deal! I ordered the mentaiko kamatama, which is one of my absolute favorites, and it didn’t disappoint — rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. My partner got the sizzling sukiyaki, which was flavorful and comforting. We also shared the spicy ahi roll and shio kombu cabbage. Everything was delicious except the cabbage — it had a bit too much sesame oil, and the oil tasted slightly oxidized, almost like it had been sitting out or exposed to sunlight. Overall, though, the food and value were excellent, and the 50% off menu made it even better. Definitely worth going back for their udon and late-night specials!
Hitomi O — Google review
Really good chewy udon. The sunshine roll was delicious. The spicy miso udon was 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The beef udon is good but I prefer the marugame beed udon more.

Zippy's Makiki is a Hawaiian casual dining chain that has been satisfying locals with its focus on regional cuisine since 1966. The restaurant is known for its stews, chili, and comfort-food dishes. One of the most popular entrees at Zippy's is the fried chicken plate, which features three pieces of juicy fried chicken served with two scoops of rice and macaroni salad.
Was recommended by a friend and we loved the place. Great menu of local favorites and mainland food choices. Friendly staff, and good value. A local place not so popular with tourists.
Andrew F — Google review
It’s Zippy’s, how can you go wrong. Hard to beat Hawaiian comfort food. We ate brunch here on a Sunday morning, this location has both a sit down restaurant and the fast food takeout side. The menu options are nearly endless, so everyone can find something to enjoy. Our server was outstanding, was gracious enough to take the time to walk us through many of his favorites.
Dennis P — Google review
I’ve eaten my way through white tablecloths and tasting menus more times than I can count. But when I need a break from the precious, plated, four-bite masterpieces, I come here—Zippy’s. No reservations. No dress code. Just the kind of food that fills your stomach and your soul. I crave the oxtail soup. The fried chicken is crispy, salty, perfect. I love it. I love it all. The chili, the spaghetti with garlic bread, and the chili loco moco, which is outrageously good. I’m talking about a full-on, pig-out session. The food’s always hot, always fast, and always hits the spot. Next time, I might ask for a side of loco moco gravy just to make it extra messy. 10/10.
Winston C — Google review
I highly recommend you order online or through the Zippy's app. Walking to the takeout side to order and wait for your food is exceptionally long, especially at dinner. It's much easier to order through the app and, when it's ready, grab it from the locker. Thursday night, it seemed chill, with not too many people ordering or waiting for food. However, online orders were queued in between the person in front of me and my own. I counted eight other online or app orders before I finally got my food. It was very frustrating. As for the food, Zippy's is a local staple that has been around for generations. There are many classics on their menu, and I got two of them: a Zip Pac, but I replaced the teri beef with hoki. I also got an apple napple for dessert.
Ryan Y — Google review
We are visiting the Island from Texas. Liza was absolutely awesome. She made us feel at home and when she found out it was our first time eating at Zippy’s she gave us a warm welcome and told us all about the menu and the great people that worked there. The food was super delicious. Great workers are a reflection of the great management team like Ivan and Joe. Great job Team. We will see you again Liza…and thanks again for making feel like regulars…like everyone knew our name. 👍🏻❤️🙏
Jim W — Google review
Best place to go for a quick dinner. Love the new way of picking up your food via locker when ordering online. Great service. Nice comfy place to dine in as well. Hubby always get an entree and an order of chili’s on the side. Great selection for dessert.
Ami ( — Google review
Good neighborhood spot to get some Hawaiian classics on the fly. We tried the spam and eggs and the loco love. Both were delicious and got the spot! The interior of this location was a little dated and rundown but the food was good. The service was confusing because there was no clear spot where to order and they were taking orders from people behind us in line. We ate on the fast food side before realizing there was a seated dining area in the back. Service may be better on that side.

Ruscello is a chic and contemporary restaurant located in Nordstrom, offering a delectable selection of Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. Situated at Ala Moana, it's the ideal spot for shoppers to take a break and indulge in flavorful dishes. This casual trattoria is popular among locals seeking a quick yet satisfying lunch, featuring an array of options such as fresh pastas, brick-oven pizzas, and sandwiches.
A great restaurant on the 3rd of floor of Nordstrom at Ala Moana Center with outdoor terrace and gorgeous ocean view. The menu has something for everyone and I prefer the burrata salad and the shrimp salad with some polenta croutons. Both dishes were outstanding with generous portions and friendly staff.

I came here on a Saturday night around 6:30pm. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away on the high table seats. Lucky. We loved their soups: lobster bisque and tomato basil soups with the cheese toast. Yum! We were a little disappointed at the chicken bolognese meatball penne. Our own mistake because when we overlooked that it was chicken so it was not the juicy beef meatball we envisioned. The taste was ok. I had the Alaskan sockeye salmon with Asian salad which was so great.
V B — Google review
We recently celebrated my brother’s birthday at Ruscello in Ala Moana Shopping Center and had a great experience. The food was delicious—especially the pizza and tacos—and the salads were fresh and flavorful. Everything arrived well-prepared. The service stood out; our server was friendly, professional, and made the evening seamless. Overall, Ruscello delivers quality meals and excellent service in a convenient spot. It’s a dependable choice for dinner.
Jeffrey C — Google review
Overall a fun and enjoyable experience. We didn’t make reservations in advance so needed to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated. Depending on the weather there is inside and outside seating. We sat outside which was fine. It was a bit less busy sitting outside. Food was well prepared and good amount. Was surprised to see the amount of arugula on our pizza…it was like a salad in our pizza which we loved. Our server was attentive and checked in on us in a good way.
Cyrus P — Google review
Jeremy was our server and he is awesome! He showed great attention to detail and checked on us frequently even though he was obviously busy. The little gem salad is excellent and I ordered the flank steak on the side and it was very well seasoned and tender. The strawberry shortcake biscuit was very dry, so I couldn’t eat that part but the fresh strawberries and the fresh cream had very bright and delicious flavors. My son ordered a pizza and it was quite surprisingly greasy! He still ate it but he had to tilt the slices so the oil could drain off. My daughter enjoyed the penne pasta but it was a little spicy. I requested outdoor seating which the honored but be prepared because it was quite warm. No complaints though….it’s OUTSIDE! LOL

popular spot for a sit-down casual fare instead of fighting for spots at the many food courts that ala moana mall offers. nothing spectacular here, just salads pizzas n pasta n sandos. nice and clean so good to bring guests and will be able to find something palatable for any dietaryneeds. everything is ok to pretty good, my pasta was just ok in a good way.
Jay K — Google review
Excellent place for lunch, just come a little early to beat the lunch rush. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. The only downside is some of my favorites were removed from the menu and some staff is not attentive as they can be. Still, good food in what I consider a great location (in Nordstrom).
Belinda K — Google review
We had the Roma tomato soup and cilantro lime salad with chicken. The food is always delicious. The service is always great. Cedric was our server and he made us feel special and went out of his way to make our lunch experience memorable. We will definitely go to Ruscello again.

Ramen restaurant
Restaurant
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a popular Japanese chain located in a bustling area of Honolulu. The handmade white tonkotsu ramen is known for its mild yet flavorful taste, available in small, regular, and large sizes. The restaurant offers combo meals with options like Gyoza and Ajitama egg. Despite the limited menu due to Covid, the quality remains consistent. Customers praise the savory shoyu broth and tender pork while noting the efficient and friendly service.
Soooo tasty. The best ramen I've had in the United States! We tried the tantanmen and the toroniku miso, with eggs added. Also tried the charsiu rice bowl and gyoza on a different day (we had to come back a second time). Everything was exceptionally good. Also the service is very friendly and exceptionally fast. Cute atmosphere too with the ramen bar in addition to the tables. Clean. This place really stands out. AND it's next to Don Quijote!
Duckifyable — Google review
Stumbled in on a Sunday at 8:45pm. I was seated immediately, and ordered the Toroniku Shio Ramen. Food came out lighting fast, and it was delicious. The broth was everything you would want, silky and rich, flavorful, and perfectly salted. The ramen was perfect as well. Bouncey with a nice bite. The Toroniku was amazing. Don't let the greyness of the meat deceive you. It was super tender and juicy. It also comes with green onions, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms on the side. I finished everything. I got a medium portion, and the final cost was $17.59 after taxes. This place will definitely satisfy your ramen craving, and if you want a large bowl it's only $1 more!
Joshua C — Google review
I've passed this place for years on my way to Donki but finally stopped in today right as they opened. The seating area is nice, cozy, and clean - and the two ladies that helped us were really friendly. This is the first time I've had Santouka "style" ramen and - although a tonkotsu broth - it didn't taste as heavy. It's also nice because they have three sizes available with the menu price reflecting the medium size. If you order a small, it's $1 less than the listed menu price; order a large, add $1. I ordered the tantan-men and although the soup presents in a bright red color because of the chili oil - it's not spicy but really flavorful. The noodles had a great consistency/perfect chewiness so tasty broth + great noodles = great experience. I had a late breakfast (about 9) and walked in here at 11 but was able to easily polish off a medium (all the noodles and broth). If you're a decent eater, I'd definitely recommend the large, especially if you're not ordering any sides. Overall, it was a great experience! You'd also think it would be more pricey because it's located in a busy shopping center but everything was around $14.

Very easy access to get a quick lunch or dinner before or after shopping at Donquiote. Ramen is always tastes good. Perfect everytime. Service is quick to shuffle people in and out. Casual dining. Price is also budget friendly❤️
Sylvia T — Google review
Amazing delicious ramen! Everything was hot, and brought to us fast! Highly recommended. Had the Charsiu Karamiso Ramen. Wife had the Toroniku Karamiso Ramen which she loved since they separate the fat from the pork belly. Also had the Gyozas which super hot and delicious!
Jose P — Google review
My on-going quest to try different ramen joints continues. The company is based in Japan and has branched out to numerous spots in California, a few in the Midwest and east coast, and one here in Hawaii. Apparently they took over the former Ezogiku Ramen spot outside of Don Quiote, but I don't remember them being in that area and didn't recognize the layout. I think they did a heavy renovation because Ezogiku wasn't the prettiest of places. Cool lighting fixtures hang down, with decorative ramen bowls climbing up the walls. Seating is for about 25 people through a mix of counter seating, a few regular tables, and a long communal bench with single seats & tables. Not good for large groups. The counter seating's backsplash could use a deep cleaning. MENU: One type of salad, salmon bowl, number ramen styles, gyoza, and combos. FOOD: Gyoza I always have to try the gyozas to compare and find the best. The 5 pieces were on the smallish side and not pan fried well enough, so the delicious crunch wasn't present. Overall flavor was good, but pass. Toroniku Shoyu Ramen The menu states you can have the toppings on the side or put in, but we weren't offered a choice so they came on a side plate. The broth.. OMG! It's good!!!! The best way to describe the flavor is its a rich, slightly oily mixture of shoyu, and tan tan, with sesame seeds floating on the top. The pork cheeks were super tender and mildly flavored, with a thin trimming of fat that was easy to consume or discard. The bamboo shoots were okay because they had a slightly odd chemical taste. The medium egg was just a bit overdone and had no flavor though the outside was stained from some kind of marinade. The noodles... I'm on the fence about them. They're thin, chewy, and had a flavor of its own, which tasted like they were stir fried in oil first in a well-seasoned pan. I have a good appetite but couldn't finish all of the noodles. I was really full due to the richness. SERVICE: It felt pushy but in a nice way. Kinda churn and burn, hurry up and buy. OVERALL: Pricey, excellent broth, mediocre noodles, subpar gyozas.
Maui T — Google review
Nice little ramen restaurant next to Don Quitos. I ordered the tsukemen and it was good. The broth was flavorful with a slight spicy kick, fatty and aromatic with woodland mushrooms and an ajitama egg. It was well-seasoned but served lukewarm, and I would have preferred it hotter. The noodles had a pleasant chew, though a slightly thicker cut would have made it even better.

For a ramen shop, this place next to Don Quixote was above average. The ramens were flavorful and decent, but the salmon in the rice bowl was way over cooked. I guess I’ve learnt my lesson not to order rice dishes at a ramen shop.

Rai Rai Ramen is a cash-only Japanese noodle spot located in Kailua, offering a variety of ramen soups, gyoza, chicken katsu, and fried rice. Despite its unassuming appearance, this off-the-beaten-path restaurant has gained a reputation for serving some of the best ramen on the island.
Really cute place! Ordered the hakata tonkotsu ramen and it came out very well, quickly too. Very peaceful and would love to go again! (I ate a bit of the photo 😅, there was plenty of meat and the usual egg too).

This place has such good ramen I’m making a second review for the second day in a row I visited!! 😂 I wanted my last meal in O’ahu to be something really really good and I just had to come back here so putting this place on BLAST 🗣️🗣️SUCH. GREAT. RAMEN!!!! Also the staff is seriously so kind too : )
Nathan K — Google review
This place feels more like a rundown fast-food joint — no restroom, not even a sink to wash your hands. The chicken curry rice was simply inedible: just a pile of plain rice topped with chicken drowned in a terrible sauce. I honestly don’t understand how this place has a 4.6-star rating. Definitely not coming back.
Valeriia P — Google review
So good! The Hakata Tonkotsu was incredible. Most ramen places I’ve been too are way too hot inside too but this place was just right! I wasn’t sweating over my foot like I am at a lot of ramen places in Waikiki.

Great casual spot for ramen. We had the tan tan and it was a good amount of spice and really tasty. Would recommend if in the area.
Jade — Google review
Use to go here often but their curry ramen has been getting more and more watery which is a bummer. Flavor and food is still good just know the curry ramen is more of a soup ramen nowadays
Tiffany I — Google review
The best ramen restaurant I've ever been to! Hot and spicy seafood soup is massive, incredible flavor, and full of protein. The noodles are perfectly chewy, not mush at all. Went for lunch and it kept me full all day!

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Moiliili, Wagaya is a charming and cozy restaurant that invites you to indulge in a delightful array of ramen soups and Japanese small plates. With an impressive selection of twelve different ramen options, including unique offerings like cold Hiyashi Tan Tan Men and vegetarian varieties, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is laid-back, making it the perfect spot to unwind while savoring handcrafted noodles made from organic ingredients whenever possible.
I ordered the Garlic Tsukemen at Wagaya and it was phenomenal. The noodles were perfectly chewy, the dipping broth was rich and garlicky with deep umami flavor, and the chunks of tender pork melted in my mouth. Loved the bamboo shoots and greens that added a fresh contrast. Every bite was comforting and packed with flavor. Highly recommend for any ramen lover!

A ramen fanatic's review starts here! A BFF of mine snapped a pic of her and a bunch of potential colleagues grubbing out here. She recommended it, so naturally I bookmarked it and made it a point to try them myself. And drag my spouse along because we both LOVE ramen. ATMOSPHERE: The smallish restaurant is located on the north side of King Street between McCully & Kemole, across from McD's. Parking sucks, but we luckily found street parking just across the way. The inside is newer looking, clean, and sports regular tables only. The tower of booster seats and boxes should be stored elsewhere and not in the dining area. MENU: Japanese salads, apps, ramen, simple desserts, soft drinks & beer. Very simple. FOOD: Edamame Smallish portion dusted with red Hawaiian sea salt. Beans were cooked nicely. I never order this when eating out as I feel you can make them at home lol. But, it was my spouse's choice so... Gyoza These were very nicely done, with crispy bottoms and moist tops. The wrappers were thinner than usual but held up well. The pork was finely grounded and had great flavor. Wagaya Ramen While I'm not fond of tonkotsu broths, if given the option of adding garlic oil, GET IN MY BELLY!!!! I know they offer a garlic version but I didn't want the fried garlic because I'd be tooting songs all night long if you know what I mean. Plus, this selection comes with 2 pieces of char siu instead of 1, and is also topped with choy sum, a spoonful of garlic, slivers of mushroom, a nori square, sesame seeds, and the most delicious soft-boiled egg I've ever tasted. How do they season that gooey yolk like that?! The noodles were whiteish in color and cooked perfect. And the broth... Holy yum. Not heavy or rich like a tan tan, but flavorful, a bit creamy, and oral orgasmic with the added garlic oil. Perfect portion size and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Wagaya Tsukemen My spouse's choice. This is a dipping style ramen, so the noodles and broth are separate. While I didn't try the noodles, the spoonful of broth I tasted was an explosion of savory flavors in my mouth. I'd definitely try this one next! The only downfall was that the cold noodles quickly cooled down the hot broth, but we figured if you were served hot noodles, they'd clump together. SERVICE: We waited about 10 minutes for a table on a Thursday night at 8pm. Our male server was friendly and professional. I recognized one of the owners from the website who takes care of the front of the house. She was also friendly, professional, and refilled our waters. OVERALL: Simple menu, delicious ramen, good prices. WINNER WINNER, 5 STAR DINNER!
Maui T — Google review
It can be a bit difficult to eat here…the parking lot is tiny and there always seems to be people on the waitlist. However, it’s worth it, especially at lunch time for the combo sets. $5 to add on three pieces of gyoza and a side dish…great deals. I got the kuro tonkotsu ramen with the chicken karaage bowl as part of the lunch combo set. Service was very fast. The food was good too. The gyoza was good, the karaage was juicy, and the kuro tonkotsu had a delicious broth with good toppings. Overall great ramen place, the only thing preventing this place from becoming my new go-to is the noodle texture which I think could be improved. But I’ll still be back. @Maui World Travelers, self-described “ramen fanatic” but dislikes tonkotsu, is surprised by ajitama, and did not expect tsukemen broth to be concentrated in flavor when drinking it. Riiiight…

I came to Wagaya Ramen with big expectations after hearing good things, but overall it was just okay in terms of taste. I ordered the Hakaya Style Wagaya Ramen, corn tempura, and potato mochi. The corn tempura was definitely the highlight: crispy, sweet, and delicious. The ramen itself was decent but I’ve had better elsewhere. Service was great though, the waiter was friendly, there was no wait to be seated, and the restaurant was clean. The noise level was moderate and the casual ambiance made it a comfortable place to dine. Not bad overall, but not as memorable as I hoped.

After a full day of surfing and soaking up the sun at beautiful Waikiki Beach, I was totally wiped out and starving. The evening breeze started to roll in, and all I could think about was carbs, lots of them. I needed something hot, hearty, and comforting. That’s when I stumbled upon this spot, and man, it did not disappoint. I ordered the most popular black garlic soup noodle (with extra noodles, of course), and it was everything my tired, sun-soaked body needed. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles had the perfect bite, and the whole bowl just like the soul food, to provide everything you need at the moment. It hit the spot so hard, I swear I felt my energy bar refill in real time. This soul touched soup seriously turned my tired body into a perfect shape. Fueled up and ready, I even had the energy to hit the pub afterward.
Gary W — Google review
Came here to try the ramen after reading great reviews, was hoping for some “broke da mouth” food but did not find it to be so! - the only thing I would recommend here is the ramen! - Daikon salad was not great, wouldn’t order again! cold tofu was straight out of the box with added green onions and sauce! - Overall prices are high for the food, tip is automatically added for party of 6 or above.
D. N — Google review
Chicken karaage was delicious. Ramen was delicious, we got the kuro. Generous amount of veggies. Broth was not too thick, very seasoned. Eggs cooked perfectly. Dessert was yummy, the mochi added great texture. It can be packed during lunch time.

Nestled in the heart of Oahu's downtown district, Junpuu Ramen Bistro is a charming eatery that captures the essence of Japanese noodle culture. This family-run gem, named after chef Eiji Kato's mother and meaning 'smooth sailing,' offers a delightful array of ramen dishes crafted with care. The cozy atmosphere features both indoor and outdoor seating, making it an inviting spot for diners.
It's an absolute YESSSSS! And a MUST if you're in the neighborhood OR can get to this restaurant! Super attentive service persons and a long with a warm welcome, the food prep is noticeably careful and quick and delicious! The mere smell of the food is excitable! I went for the vegan options and they were so well seasoned and flavor-filled. My Ramen was jam-packed with unexpected and delectable veggies! The knowledge of the service person and explanation of spice levels and dishes was to exactness & perfection! Take a peek... and when u go to Junpuu's .... Simply Enjoy! 🤗🌞🌼

I had a pretty mixed experience here. The service was friendly and fast, and the ramen was good, but not particularly amazing in the spectrum of Honolulu ramen. For the ramen I got their garlic tonkotsu and asked them to add some spice as well. The noodles were yummy, I added a tasty soy egg for additional charge, and the portion was a good size. The appetizers however, were so bizarre! We tried the chicken karaage which unfortunately wasn't crispy at all- It was served in a very large cone shaped bowl so I think the stacked chicken pieces caused hot steam from the bottom pieces to be trapped and make them all soft. The dumplings were so odd, I genuinely am not sure if they made a mistake. It was labeled on the menu as "spicy cheese gyoza" which sounded great! Nothing could have prepared us for that plate of lukewarm gyoza covered in half melted shredded cheese topped with a very cold tomato and ground meat mixture sauce, which of course caused the cheese to not be melty and re-solidify. Ultimately the gyoza were lukewarm, wet and soggy with a very confusing flavor profile. I definitely would not recommend their appetizers, but it's a solid choice for a lunch ramen.

Local Ramen shop to us. It was our first time trying Junpuu out, and it definitely did not disappoint! We ordered the regular gyoza. Crispy bottom and mochi like texture wrapping. The fillings were delicious! The dipping sauce was a nice touch! We ordered the Miso Ramen(with side of house made spicy sauce) and Yuzu Chicken Ramen. I must say, both were light and not oily like most Ramen places. Miso Ramen had 2 large pieces of pork belly, and the chicken was so soft. Service was friendly, and the gentleman who took our order, who we thought was the manager, made sure our orders were made the way we wanted it. Awesome job! It's definitely worth a revisit!!

Today I got to try the spicy miso ramen and it was good. The thin chewy noodle was great with the spicy miso soup base. Moreover, the servers were helpful and friendly to make everything better.
Sang M — Google review
I’m pretty surprised by how highly this place is rated, especially since ramen is something that people tend to be picky about around here. I got the tonkotsu with ajitama and a side of gyoza. The gyoza tasted fine. The ramen was disappointing. The noodles were just Sun noodles which is NOT typically used for ramen in Hawaii, despite what @Dustin Stratton claims. It’s more common for yakisoba or saimin. The broth had a weak flavor that didn’t transfer well to the hard Sun noodles. The pork was good. The egg was fine, but it cost $2.50 which is an expensive add-on for a basic ramen ingredient. Service was decent. The outdoor seating was unpleasant since I was immediately swarmed by flies once my food was delivered. Overall it was a substandard experience for ramen. Would not return, especially since Golden Pork is right down the street.

They are located just before the Old Stadium Park in Moiliili. The bowls come refrigerated so when you are ready to eat, you just have to zap them in the microwave for 4 minutes on high to have a nice hot nabe bowl . Nabeya Maido is located in the Market City Shopping Center, between Gina's BBQ and Duck Lee. The plate prices range from $2.90 to $5.90 depending on the items on the colored plates, plate color determines the price. I liked that they offer a lot of different choices of meats, vegetables and other things to choose from. They have Happy Hours Specials till 5:30pm, 20% off and 2 for 1 Tuesdays on the broths. I'll have to try the Omakase platter ($19.95) on the top shelf in the glass case. It's loaded with an assortment of meats, seafood and vegetables, great plate for two people to start off with. Service here is friendly and attentive, our servers was great!

Saigon Noodle House is a casual Vietnamese eatery known for its pho, sandwiches, and other specialties. The cashier was friendly and helpful with menu inquiries. Customers recommend the combo plate with spicy chicken and Terri beef over noodles, praising the generous sauce portions but wishing for more egg rolls. While seating is limited inside, many patrons opt for takeout due to the restaurant's popularity.
Stopped by here for lunch after visiting a temple nearby. Owned by a Vietnamese couple, they were very nice and patient with us as we read through the menu and ordered. We go 3 vermicelli noodle bowls with bbq chicken and it came with and egg roll, 1 order of combo #1, flan and sodas. Everything is fresh and made to order. Reminded me of home/mom’s cooking. **Please call them or come in person to order take out!** The ordering websites listed have higher prices and are not run by the owners. So they are being taken advantage of. They have been serving customers for over 20 years! I ordered the avocado smoothie (fresh!), egg rolls - really tasty and crispy, and puff pastry. I'm Viet and from Virginia, and these egg rolls were better than the ones in DC. I will definitely return!

This place is a gem!!! On our way from North Shore to the airport, we got hungry and decided on Vietnamese. We saw the reviews here and decided to go. The second we walked in I looked at my wife and said, “this is going to be good.” And boy was it ever. We got a chicken pho, wonton saimin, teriyaki vermicelli and a shrimp vermicelli. Every one was delicious. My mouth is watering writing this review. The prices were very reasonable, portions were very fair, and the service by the owner (I believe he was the owner - older gentleman) was awesome. He was so nice and had such great personality. It totally added to the experience.

We got the chow fun with choysum, fried donuts and beef and tendon look fun in soup. The soup dish was good, comforting but leaning towards too salty for us. The chow fun was lacking smokiness, overpowered by the sauce. Texture of noodle was amazing tho. The donuts were great too. Service was quick. We sat next to a larger group and had to share condiments which was a little awkward.

Lam’s Kitchen – A Traditional Chinese Noodle Shop in the Heart of Honolulu’s Chinatown Lam’s Kitchen is a small, old-fashioned noodle shop nestled in the bustling Chinatown district of Honolulu. The place seats only about 30 people, so even though we came during a regular lunch hour, my family and I had to wait around 20 minutes to get a table. I ordered the fish noodle soup – the broth was clear and light, with a clean, subtle flavor. The fish was not fried but cooked directly in the soup, making the meat firm, fresh, and pleasantly mild. It’s a good choice for those who enjoy traditional, light flavors. My husband and child had the stir-fried beef rice noodles – a more memorable dish. The wide, chewy noodles were stir-fried hot with tender slices of beef, and the dish carried a distinct smoky aroma from the wok – adding a layer of depth and authenticity. Lam’s Kitchen may not offer groundbreaking cuisine, but it delivers an honest, traditional Chinese dining experience. If you have time while visiting Chinatown, it’s worth trying at least once.

Still as yummy as before, service was as authentic as I would expect lol first time trying their wonton noodles. Solid. Wonton got shrimp in it too! Love the sassy attitude of my server haha I asked to make sure wonton has shrimp in it coz I've seen many places just putting pork and call it a day (ugh) she's like "wonton is not wonton if there's no shrimp in it." That's what I'm talking about, Aunty.

Decided to try out Vietnam Deli by the Ripple of Smiles. The inside has a few tables, all the food comes out in takeout containers. - Herbs - bean sprouts and lemon wedges came in a ziplock bag - Pho noodle ($4.00 USD) - had to order extra noodles. Crazy - Traditional Vietnamese manapua bao ($7.50 USD) - overpriced. Standard steamed bun - Pho ($18.00 USD) with beef ($1.00 USD) - broth was okay, could smell the star anise. Noodle portion was tiny. We weren’t full - Favorite sauteed noodles ($18.75 USD) with chicken ($1.00 USD) - decent flavour to the sauce, tiny portion once again

I’ve been several times to dine in and order the same meals and it’s been good. Today I have a majorly as I ordered take out and I’m disappointed in the complaint at the size and how they are taking advantage that the customer cannot see his meal before he gets home. It was made for a child for $20.00! C’mon look at the spoon next to the size of the unagi.Absolutely, unacceptable! I’m going to tell everyone and you can make your own decision! * I don’t mind paying if it’s decent but not for 2 bite size Unagi.

Honestly, we started eating since my first born. 7plus years now, Service is great, depending on the time and day and who’s working. I ordered the unagi regular plate, this is my second time trying it, since I wanted to give it another try. I strongly believe it’s too salty and rice was overly cooked.

8/2023 Was so good, I came two days in a row. Without a doubt, there are quite a few good Ramen places in Honolulu. One of my favorites succumbed to hard times, which was sad. This place has been here since the mall opened, and I decided to take a Japanese friend for lunch. Simple, quick, delicious, and inobtrusive. I was impressed with the variety of offerings. We had the mini ramen combination, which allows you a little variety. Food was really ono, and it's a convenient place to get your fix on. I should be able to get through most of the menu by the end of the year. 😋😉🤙✌️ 9/2023 Addicting. Price, location, and quick service are on point! 😉🤙✌️ 4/2024 It's still a great, reasonable find. Great value, quick and friendly service, convenient location. The variety of offers and specials on the menu give you flexibility choices. I'm not a Ramen guy, but this place continues to rock. 😉🤙✌️ 7/2024 Still a pretty good deal! 😉🤙✌️

Fast friendly attentive service. No nonsense kind of place that I like. Prices are reasonable. Get the mini ramen and choose 2 sides even if you're not that hungry. Alot to share between 2 people. I got spicy tonkotsu. My girlfriend got black garlic tonkotsu, asked to add extra cabbage. Sides we got chicken katsu, shrimp katsu, crockette, and mochiko chicken. The crockette was my least favorite of the four we choose. We also got cheesecake, for $3 cannot go wrong. Give these guys a try.

Decided to give this place a try, the service is friendly and the food is acceptable. The place is clean and plenty of sitting space. I tried the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice, it was too much curry, not their fault. If you like chicken katsu and little curry, maybe ask for the curry on the side or something. Overall a good experience and satisfied.

UPDATE 1/19: Still awesome food, quick service and reasonable prices. They have a “happy hour” special of free gyoza from 2:30-5:00 with the purchase of a meal. ——- Excellent udon here - very toothsome and tender, the hallmark of fresh noodles. The combo is a great deal: your choice of a bowl of ramen or udon, and then a side ranging from gyoza to tako yaki to shrimp tempura to calamari. I tried the last two - skip the tempura and get the calamari.

A great option for ramen in the Kahala/Kaimuki area. Clean. We went during the first few weeks of opening. Service was great, lots of smiles and so attentive. I had the Kimchee ramen and I gotta say as a spicy ramen connoisseur this had got to have been the most tastiest broth I have had in the kimchee ramen category. The Hubs had curry which he loved and the daughter had a keiki ramen which she liked. Would definitely go back!

Aiea Bowl is not your average bowling alley. It offers nightly themes like Glow Bowling and DJs, making it a great spot for a fun night out. The Alley eatery within the center serves up some of the crispiest fried chicken and fantastic oxtail soup in Hawaii, along with delectable desserts like lemon crunch cake. Even if you're not there to bowl, Aiea Bowl is perfect for groups looking to enjoy delicious food.
Really good spot to eat, but most days there will be a wait. Good service and good prices on food. I’d definitely recommend the tasty chicken and boneless kalbi!

Came here because it was featured on food Network channel. I ordered the portabella sandwich, came with side of fries, waffle fries or something else, I forget what server said. My husband ordered the combo platter, which he got chicken and beef patties with rice and mac salad. We both enjoyed our meals. Our server was awesome also. Interesting bowling alley that the restaurant is inside of

Deff worth every penny. Go a hour or so before your reserved bowling time. Eat there the food is great! We had the calamari, garlic shrimp and 2 orders of chicken tenders. One with regular fries and one with waffle fries. All of it was good! Then we bowled for 2 hours and we couldn't be happier. The staff is welcoming and pleasant. The shoes were decent and the lanes have plenty of room. 5/5

Busy place- bowling and yummy restaurant! Bowling for 7- $60 hour for 1 lane. Recommend going to eat instead. Large servings, great food!

This bowling place actually serves good food. I had the garlic shrimp on my first visit and squid on my second visit. Both were really good. They also have a lemon crunch cake that's really tasty.

My husband and I waited 10 minutes before being greeted by a host at the front desk/counter. We arrived at 815pm and was told that they stopped seating customers and closed the restaurant because it was a slow night. We explained to the host that the dining area appears to be full and that the website says closing is at 9pm. We were once again turned away. This is very disappointing as we are regular long time customers. It seems like the level of service has gone done. I don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.

We had a reserved section for a bday party come in for bowling and food. My sister in law ordered ahead of time a bunch of bentos and pitchers of drinks. When we asked if we can get some help to carry it to our table, the cashier said “thats not how it works”…….that was it. No explanation on why. Maybe they were short staff or maybe cuz it was bentos they werent obligated to help us carry it to our table. IDK. I told my sister in law maybe check her agreement just in case it states if we order bentos, we do everything ourselves vs being served like the other tables??? Just a heads up Food was amazing though Party was on 10/5

What are unique little spot. The tasty chicken truly was amazing. I would go back just for the chicken. There was a little bit of a wait. I thought it was funny that people were more interested in going to eat then to go to bowl. We also tried the pumpkin crunch cake and it was pretty delicious

Hands down my favorite noodles spot. The food was so good I saved my leftovers and had them for breakfast the next morning. The portion sizes are great the atmosphere was cozy, didn't have to travel every far to enjoy this gem.

Best Ramen Restaurant in Waikiki. Food is incredible and the ambiance is both relaxing and intimate. The ramen broth is exceptional. Service and management were welcoming and would definitely return.

One of the best bowls of ramen and most delicious takoyaki I’ve ever had!! I tried the Vegan Tantanmen ramen with added tofu. The broth was so good-rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Great portion as well. The takoyaki was perfectly crispy on the outside, with a soft, smooth inside and balanced umami taste. Can’t wait to go back!

Shoot, I can't believe I didn't take a photo! The ramen 🍜 was excellent. I went here on the suggestion of a local. Some of the best ramen I've had in Honolulu and for half the price. I also had an order of spicy, garlic edamame 🫛. Not too spicy and not too garlicy🧄. It was just right. And I had the house sake warmed. I am slowly learning to stay away from the tourist places, the prices are two and three times more expensive.

Great vegan ramen! The soup base was actually very creamy and rich unlike some of the vegan ramens. Noodles were cooked to perfection and the flavor was en pointe. Plus we had an amazing server, Henry, who was so friendly and welcoming and gave us some tips too and which parts of the island to visit. Plus the happy hour beer was huuuge and soo good! Would recommend checking this place out!

Soup restaurant
The Kapiolani Coffee Shop-Waimalu is a popular hawaiian restaurant in Honolulu. The restaurant features traditional hawaiian cuisine, including dishes such asua pig, loco moco, and kālua pork. The coffee shop also serves traditional Hawaiian coffee drinks, such as āhili coffee and piko piko cream coffee.
Finally, back at Kapiolani Coffee Shop located in the Waimalu Shopping Plaza to try the Oxtail Soup XL. They were loaded with oxtail throughout the soup. The broth was clean but rich although it was a tad bit salty for my taste. Oxtails were nice and tender and there were peanuts in broth as well as maybe orange or tangerine rinds with a hint of star anise. It also came with 4 scoops of rice and the shoyu ginger for dipping. Love the atmosphere here. Very Clean place and they also have a takeout counter too. The price might be steep, but it easily feed two people. Definitely did not disappoint and left feeling satisfied. Definitely coming back to this iconic Coffee Shop. Definitely love nostalgia and Kapiolani Coffee Shop has that feel to it. Help support Local Businesses.

Saw a review of this place on YouTube and I had to come and try it for myself. To be honest, it did not disappoint. It reminds me of an old diner like style that reminds me of a vintage restaurant. It also reminds me of my family's restaurant back home where most people go for the one special dish. There special dish is their ox tail soup and I can definitely say that it is amazing. Of course this is my opinion, but it has amazing flavor and taste! Would love to bring my family here and most definitely would eat here again. Service was pretty good and the place gets very busy. We had a little wait until we were seated but overall it was worth the wait. Would recommend this place to anyone that would like home style cooked food.

Kapoilani coffee shop yelp review My husband and I came here for lunch. He ordered his favorite, oxtail soup, and I ordered kalbi rice with extra kalbi. The food came out quickly, but as soon as I took a bite, I noticed a strange taste. I wasn’t sure at first, so I asked my husband to try it. The moment he tasted it, he spit it out and said the meat was sour and spoiled. We immediately called the server over and told them about it. They apologized and offered to replace my order, which they did, but that doesn’t change the fact that the first plate they served me had spoiled meat. This makes me question whether they check the freshness of their food at all. They gave us a 5% discount for my kalbi rice, but honestly, that doesn’t make up for the risk of eating something unsafe. This will be our last visit.

Classic diner with classic local favorites. We try to stop in every few weeks. Their Loco Moco is one of our go to's with it's home made hamburger patties taste like Auntie made it. If you're on the hunt for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Rokaru Shabu Shabu. This all-you-can-eat haven is particularly renowned for its rich tonkotsu broth and high-quality ingredients, from succulent meats to fresh vegetables. While currently only open for dinner, it's worth noting that prices have increased, so arriving with a hearty appetite is advisable to maximize your AYCE experience.
Absolutely fabulous food and I just tried a few dishes from their pupu menu! Lightly fried vegetables, chicken and calamari. Fresh tasty greens and sauces paired to each dish. Definitely need to return to try more of their menu! Their takeout menu is well-varied too.
Yolande F — Google review
I wanted to like it but was honestly kind of let down. I will have to say their saving grace was the amazing and hard working service. All the servers and food runners were so friendly and welcoming, hence the 3 stars. The system of ordering and food options were meh though. There are two AYCE options to choose from, standard or premium, where premium is just a few dollars more and includes pupus and better proteins. We went with the latter. The meat quality is good, and we made sure to order all the premium beef options plus pork belly and some seafood. Kauai prawns are huge, so definitely stock up on that. Proteins could be ordered 4 at a time. For pupus, the taro arabkiki (fried sausages) and candied bacon were pretty good. There were like 3 veggies you had to order from the server, but otherwise there was a self-serve veggie bar. I will have to say that they had an extensive selection of starches, with noticeably healthier options like tofu or zucchini noodles. There is a large selection of broths, of which I chose the spicy goma. They seem to have a lot of special items for broths or menu items, so be sure to ask! The sesame sauce is pretty good, and the yuzu sauce is tangy and fresh. Green tea ice cream was delicious, strawberry not so much. The things that were kind off include things like having to ask for sauce bottles instead of having each bottle at a table or a self serve sauce bar, 1 tong and 1 ladle for a whole table of 4, small bowls for each person rather than plates to scoop food out to, and only 1 large plate to get veggies from the bar rather than everyone being able to grab plates themselves. While we were never denied and requests from the servers, it just got annoying to have to keep asking for things. I enjoyed their playlist, but it was pretty loud inside and hard to hear. Recommend to make a reservation on yelp as wait times can get pretty long. Parking is easy in the large parking lot. Will probably try again to see if this one time was a fluke.
Daniel N — Google review
The service was outstanding. I believe our server name was Chanise. She was attentive and ensure we had a good experience. The fryer was down so we couldn’t get any fried items, but they did tell us prior. My only complaint was that the table was too small. We couldn’t fit everything on the table and felt like we HAD to put everything in the soup immediately to make space.
Drew N — Google review
More space, same food. Get the $5 add on for pupus! Rokaru broth, meats, garlic chicken, miso garlic claws and vegetables. Friendly service.
Rigel T — Google review
Our First but Last Visit We rarely leave reviews, but our experience was so unpleasant that we feel we must. The restaurant showed zero flexibility. We paid before finishing our meal, and the server warned of a $5–$10 charge for leftovers. We assured them we’d finish everything, and we did—except for a small portion of salad. The server then offered a to-go box without mentioning it would cost $7 until after we agreed. If there’s a fee, it should be stated upfront. This policy made the rest of our meal uncomfortable and frustrating. The server even said, “It’s only $7.” For that price, we could buy a fresher salad elsewhere. Whether it’s leftover fees or to-go charges, it felt like the restaurant just wanted to squeeze more money from customers. On top of that, the ingredients weren’t fresh, and the food was nothing like Japanese style either. The food quality and taste were far from worth the price, and in all our years of living in Hawaii and the mainland U.S., we have never had such a disappointing dining experience. You just lost customers. This was our first visit, and we could have become regulars—but your policies and quality made sure we’ll never return.

I’ve been to the old location when it was next to Foodland Pearl City, and I enjoyed the food. Unfortunately I haven’t been back since. Today, I took my wife and my 14mo old son to the new location, near City Mill in Pearl City. There was a graduation party that took up almost the entire restaurant, with only a few tables open for the public. I initially was going to walk away because my thoughts were that the service might be lacking due to the huge party. However, a hostess came up and asked us how many. I told her three, with one being a baby and I needed a high chair. After she sat us down, Shanice(been with company for about 9 years) approached us and made us feel like family. She took our order, recommended things on the menu, even preordered some things for us to try so that we didn’t have to wait for food. Her service and attitude made this visit amazing for my family. The food was tasty, including the salad bar, and some things were menu items only. Even if they had a huge party in the restaurant, she was able to give us five star service. Another employee saw we had a baby and the party was about to play loud games. She walked over and warned us, to prepare my baby, in case it got loud, which it didn’t…but the thought is what counts. I’m apologizing to Shanice for taking this picture of her serving another table, but before we left, I wanted to show the world a picture of Shanice that made a huge difference in our family experience at Rokaru’s new location. Mahalo to Shanice and the staff and congrats to the owners Reid and Mark for their upgrade from the small space in the former location. We will be back!

It's ok for shabu shabu however the service could be better. Not only they keep reminding us we only have 1.30 min even before we seat they also forget to bring our protein. They have 2 choice standard all you can eat or for extra $5 premium. I guess it's ok. Also the stove is way too high so it's become Inconvenience.

Taiwanese restaurant
Noodle shop
If you're on the hunt for an authentic taste of Taiwan, look no further than Season's Ice & Eatery 秀蘭小館. This charming eatery is a one-man show where the owner takes on multiple roles, infusing the place with a vibrant energy that enhances your dining experience. The highlight here is undoubtedly their Taiwanese beef noodle soup, featuring chewy handmade noodles and a rich, savory broth that you can customize to your preferred spice level. But that's not all!
TLDR: Local shop with Taiwanese fare. Lots of classics but definitely try the noodles and those chicken wings! Be warned, the spice can get to "challenge" levels. Came with a group as one friend has been here in the past. It's a small shop but just solid solid Taiwanese food. We got a little bit of everything but the two stands out: the chicken wings and the spicy beef noodle soup. I ordered the spiciest one and the chef/owner did confirm that's what I wanted. Yeah, don't be silly - even if you eat relatively hot; this is probably way more than you need. The amount of chili in this it's more gravy-like than broth. The noodles are bouncy, the beef is tender, I'd say a Level 3 would be just right. Level 5 while you might be able to do it, you will pay for that the next two days. If you're in the area though, check this spot out. Glad our buddy took us here.

Yessssss. 5 stars all around. There is something to be said about this place. Not the best looking place to eat but that’s not why I came here. It’s the FOOD. Of course like any other places I go eat I tend to order a bit of everything. And that’s exactly what I did here. Let’s start off with the popcorn chicken it’s light batter and crispy with fried basil. Other dish we got is the salt and pepper fish. Delicious. Third up we got the dumplings with chilli oil. This has a lot of flavour and is very tasty. Will for sure keep ordering that again. Now for their delicious noodle soup. I feel pretty much any order of their noodle soup would be great. We order two one beef noodle soup and the other one we got is the brisket soup. Both so good! The broth was hearty with silk noodles and a touch of spice. It is wonderful. For some reason this place has been around for 30 years and just now people have been noticing it. The new owner of this place is the son of the original owner (family business). And I think thanks to social media this place is booming. Keep in mind there was a line up and any fried food took a bit longer but all is well worth it. I believe this place will be expanding soon to a bigger location and would start doing both lunch and dinner. I can’t wait till my next visit and will come back to try their new location.

Local Taiwanese noodle house. The food was super flavorful and fresh. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and inviting. The staff had plenty of heartfelt banter with locals in the restaurant. The fried chicken was extra crispy. The beef noodles were rich with fresh herbs. The dumplings were packed with stuffing and drenched in a flavorful chili oil. My only complaint is the whole restaurant is dingy. Just about everything could use a dusting or a replacement. Certainly adds to the authentic noodle house vibe but might be a turn off for some. A hidden gem in Chinatown.
Tyler H — Google review
The beef noodles here were authentic and very delicious. The noodles themselves had a very good texture with a very good bite and the broth had a thick richly infused flavour. We also had some steamed dumplings. The pastry work of the dumplings was highly skilled. It was thin but kept its bite, so they didn't fall apart in your chopsticks or in your mouth. The only thing to be aware of is this restaurant doesn't have a lot of tables so there may be a wait during lunch time. When we were there, there was also a wait of 30 min on the fried food.
Debbie L — Google review
Amazing authentic Taiwanese food place! It was a nice place with nice people! I ordered 2 retro spicy beef tendon noodles with my husband. And we chose spicy level 3, the owner warned us it would be spicy but we didn’t listen😂 it was pretty spicy! So if you will order the same thing and if you’re not good at spicy food, you can choose level 1 or 2. I am Korean and I’m pretty good at eating spicy food but I think level 3 was the maximum I can enjoy the food. If it was more spicy I might would not be able to enjoy the taste🥵. But the noodle was really savory and delicious. Beef tendon was amazing too! I really wanna go back next time!

I almost forgot how good the food is at Season's Ice & Eatery because last time we were there was before Covid! The beef noodle soup and Taiwanese popcorn chicken with basil were delicious, and the portions were generous for the price. The owner's chill and cool vibe create a welcoming atmosphere, and the food comes out fast. Overall, a comfortable & delightful dining experience that I highly recommend

Food was great. Owner, I assume, was very attentive to how we handle the spice. Very friendly. Definitely worth a repeat. There are 5 levels of spice. I only tried 2 and 3. Will try 4 next time since the owner doesn't recommend 5 unless you know what you are putting in your mouth.
