Deli

Takeout Restaurant
Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen is a renowned deli in Houston, offering a wide array of classic New York-style dishes in an old-school ambiance. It has filled the void for an authentic Jewish deli experience in the city, catering to a large customer base with its oversized menu and numerous variations of deli meat sandwiches. The establishment also serves traditional old-world dishes like latkes, kugel, matzo-ball soup, and more.
There’s a reason why this place has such a high rating even with thousand of reviews. We went here on a weekday evening to avoid the cray crowds during the weekends. The staff is awesome, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is just like a NY deli! You get pickles while you wait for your food instead of bread and are delicious! I had the Ruben on rye bread. With deli mustard and the celery soda, it disappeared very quickly. If you haven’t been here then you have to go. If you have been here, then you have to go back. I know we will!

It’s been here a really long time and have never tried it. Finally went yesterday for the first time. Place it really big and beautiful. We got there at a good time and wasn’t too busy. It got really busy after we were there for a bit. It was really expensive. My husband and I shared a sandwich, French fries and only had water. It was $40 plus tip. The corn beef was hard to bite off and lacked flavor. I love crusty, homemade breads. The rye bread was delicious but the crust was hard to bite. Which the crust is my favorite. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. All the desserts look amazing but super expensive. Well at least we finally tried it. But unfortunately a bit too expensive for our pocketbook.
Marty L — Google review
The portions are quite large. I got their signature sandwich (the #1). I shared the hot spinach dip which comes with thin & crispy bagels plus sour cream. Also shared the beef stuffed fried dumplings. The Root Beer was delicious (as it always is everywhere). My sister got the Chicken in a Pot soup and it looked really good...I'm going to get it next time.

Finally hit this spot in H-Town for a late lunch and it didn’t disappoint! Old-school deli feel with an expansive menu sure to meet even the pickiest eaters needs. Started off with a cup of “The Borscht That Made The Belt Famous”. Great tasting cold borscht soup served with a dollop of sour cream and an option to add a boiled potato that was cooked to perfection. For the main courses we decided on the #7 “One and Only Rueben” served open faced, the “Roumanian Steak Salad”, and a kid friendly “Chicken Finger Platter”. All main courses came out in huge portions suitable for sharing if you choose, and tasted phenomenal. Absolutely filling with plenty of leftovers to satisfy a round two of this amazing food. Do yourself a favor and swing in for a bite if you find yourself craving authentic deli food this far removed from the Northeast!
Destin L — Google review
I've been dying for a good corned beef sandwich and got it! We also ordered a combo corned beef/ pastrami sandwich and x2 rubenesques. All were amazing and lots of food left over for another meal or 2.
JoAnn T — Google review
A friend told me I need to go have lunch here one day and I was not disappointed, in fact quite the opposite. I was blown away and will be a repeat customer. The atmosphere in here is fun and eclectic, lots of old movie posters and a wall of fame. They have a wall of signed cartoon portraits of famous people which is really fun, you can try to spot your favorite comedian or actor. The food was really good too, with very large portions. If you get a chance to have lunch here while in Houston I strongly recommend it. The staff was polite and attentive, but also not constantly checking on us. It was just perfect.
Ryan F — Google review
I went there for a business meeting with colleagues. It took me 15+ minutes to decide what to eat due to the size of the menu. The portion size equalled the menu size. The taste was comparable to NY Deli's that I grew up with. The food delivery was fast. The dessert was huge as well. Great flavor. They could use some more servers to accommodate the packed dining room. The price was proportional to the sandwich size. Cons: Very loud. The menu is hard to read due to the tall size, ~2' in height. The portion size is too large. The crowd is mostly 50's+. Way too much food. They don't have half portion options. (Good way to bring in more money.) Tough for those on limited incomes to enjoy. Expect to pay ~$50.00 each.
Louis S — Google review
We absolutely have loved and enjoyed our previous visits that we wanted to share the same with our family. Hoping our not so fantastic experience was due to it being a bit over an hour before closing. We were rushed to place our order and our server appeared to not agree or know what options some of the entrees included as I was questioned twice about my option when ordering Da Bronx. The potato pancakes were hard and seemed to have been cooked several times and were at room temperature when we received them, our dessert the Aunt Zelda that we ordered to go was very dry and lacked the flavor and care we had previously loved about our visits. One item that I definitely should have requested more of was the coleslaw that was perfect and a surprisingly delicious pair with the frank! The opportunity to take a picture of Da Bronx was not available as the minute that dish was placed at our table it was gone in a jiffy so kudos on that dish❤️

Brennan's Houston is a decadent eatery that brings the character and cuisine of New Orleans to the Space City. The restaurant offers a relaxed fine dining experience with an eclectic menu that defies strict categorization. Located in East Downtown, Nancys Hustle serves up fluffy corn cakes and trout roe, while Theodore Rex in Montrose offers culture-crossing sour pork sausage with chorizo spices and lime leaf.
This place is amazing. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years. We have celebrated anniversaries, graduations, holidays, like Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and so much more here. It is practically like a tradition. The staff and service are high-quality and greatly trained. We know some of the servers by name and even request to see them because they are that great. Love the pralines by the door. Garlic bread & biscuits are good. French Toast never disappoints. Some of our favorite desserts are the Banana’s Foster, Bread Pudding, Mississippi Mud Pie and Strawberry Shortcake. Live band is awesome, friendly and nice. They sometimes take song requests. Would especially recommend coming here for brunch. Most lively on the weekend like Saturday or Sunday. Would definitely recommend!
Alexandra J — Google review
Words fail me to describe the way the Brennan’s experience affects me. The atmosphere is superb. The food is outstanding. The presentation of each course leaves you wanting the next course. The service is just second to none. Our Head Waiter Love was engaging and funny. His knowledge of the menu and his wit were greatly appreciated. Price was high end restaurant prices. But considering the entire experience…well worth it and to me…a bargain.

Brennan’s is a very good restaurant. Some of the items we enjoyed, particularly the desserts were wonderful. The main dishes were very good, but did lack some of the flavors I’d expect. The staff was outstanding but the dining room seemed a bit dated and worn.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Houston! My family have come here for decades and the service, ambiance, and food have always been extraordinary. Tonight we had the pleasure of being waited on by Manuel, Jaden & Ramon. They did a truly outstanding job and not only enhanced our overall experience but heavily contributed to our celebratory evening. Very thankful that we had them as waiters/wait staff! Overall an amazing evening. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!
Meagan R — Google review
Such a pleasure to be in accompany with business affiliates for an evening dinner. The service was pleasant and the food was very tasty. The prices are reasonable. I highly suggest this place if you are in the mood for elegant dining. Certainly will return if I am ever in this area again.
Dr R — Google review
Wow. Sat at the bar and had the happy hour bites and a small tower. Best gumbo, Boudin balls i have ever had. The fresh seafood tower was quite nice as well.
Puneet S — Google review
Had the best time at Brennan’s for happy hour! Julisa behind the bar was lovely and super friendly making the great food and drinks even better! Cocktails for $10, wine for $8 and loads of bar bites all of which were amazing. I didn’t get a picture of the loaded deviled eggs because they were that good I preferred to inhale them rather than photograph them. I can see why they’ve been a favourite spot in Houston for so long. I will definitely visit again for lunch or dinner!
Claire W — Google review
We came for restaurant week. Had a delicious espresso martini and upgraded to have the chili fried oysters which were fantastic ($10 up charge), best part of the meal! Then the vegetarian enchiladas which was good the veggies were extremely fresh. We shared the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious and warm and paired well with the fruit. The service was nothing crazy special (from what we experienced) but definitely saw other serves going above and beyond for customers birthdays and other celebrations!

Greek restaurant
Cafe
Niko Niko's is a popular Greek restaurant with multiple locations in Houston, including Montrose, Market Square in Downtown, and Spring Branch. It's known for its hearty portions of classic Mediterranean dishes served in a casual setting that appeals to both adults and kids. The restaurant offers a partnership discount with the Children's Museum of Houston.
It had been years since I visited. A friend of mine was not sure if she had been there. The employees are very friendly and courteous. I was ready to taste the wonderful food. She on the other hand has a sweet tooth. We talked for hours without interruption. We felt at ease enjoying our snack. The baklava cheese cake is like people say " It's to die for". Her first time tasting the baklava, I loved it. It's one of my reasons for choosing to dine there. We will definitely be coming back in order to try other delicacies.
David A — Google review
We had the Hercules plate, gyro sandwich side greek salad, and hummus with pita bread....all was great, the lemon potatoes with any meal are a must try. Also we were so full that we didn't get to try the sweets even though I really wanted to. Added bonus they have the sonic ice iykyk. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Houston.
Dominic C — Google review
Wow what an experience! Just entering the place and feel all the good vibes. It’s a counter order, pick up and bring back to your table type of place. Everything we ate was fresh and tasty. The portions are generous. Every person we encountered was so friendly. Free easy parking and clean bathroom. I will definitely return!!!!! I have two picky items that I must mention. 1) kitchen staff should NOT go into the bathroom With apron on -ewwww🤮 2) the tzatziki sauce was bland- but the garlic aioli made up for it
L S — Google review
One of my new favorites 😍 Fresh and beautiful Greek food. I'll be back for all of it! The mini chicken kabab sandwich was perfect to leave room for dessert. The staff was so friendly and helpful.
Trina — Google review
A very nice experience overall. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All the food was delicious and you get huge portions for a good price. Their dessert section with gelato and bakery was huge and delicious. I would definitely go back.

Absolutely worth the stop. Wonderful food. You grab a menu, seat yourself, order up front. They give a buzzer when food is done. The food was amazingly fresh and DELISH ❤️ I think it may have been featured on guy Ferrari Diner show.
Jessica D — Google review
Absolutely delicious. A Houston staple. The gyro can’t be beat. Their three dip platter is amazing. Fries are crispy and well seasoned. Tzatziki is house made!

Mediterranean restaurant
Istanbul Grill & Deli is a casual Turkish restaurant located in West University, offering a variety of Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean dishes. The menu features options like Kofte Sandwich, Sucuk Pide, and Adana Kebab served with rice and house salad. Established in the late 90s, this Rice Village spot provides a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating under a giant plastic canopy tent.
We tried this Houston gem on a Friday night for dinner —we enjoyed their covered outdoor patio filled with plants and moody lighting…We ordered the humus, which was smooth and fresh, served with spices, oil, and thick pita bread. The bread was warm and soft and paired so well with the hummus. The mixed meat grill was plentiful for 2 adults. It came with chicken and beef kebabs, cubed chicken tandoori, shredded lamb, steak, rice and a salad — a feast fit for a King where you get to try so many delectable Turkish flavors. Truly recommend this gem!
Aldana M — Google review
This was my first time trying Turkish food and I thoroughly enjoyed multiple aspects of this experience. The service was very attentive and friendly, you get oil and bread for the table. It was SO GOOD. The bread is fantastic. We got Dolma, Sultan Kebab, and Petlican Kebab. It was my first time trying Dolma and it was amazing! The meat (lamb) in our entrees were full of flavor and delicious. The rice was pretty plain tho on my Sultan Kebab. Otherwise I really enjoyed this dining experience. The parking is minimal but they do have a couple spots in front of the restaurant. They also have outdoor-ish seating. It’s kinda like a tent patio with fans. It was a nice place to sit on a warm sunny day.
Jennifer — Google review
Food were delicious bustling with flavors very good quality, but less quantity. Some of the food prices are reasonable, but I have a complaint regarding.Chops it was $32 with four pieces of chop. I think the price is not reasonable but it’s OK because it was in the high-end neighborhood but we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Everybody should give a try if you’re not going to try what would you know you’re missing the taste so try it and enjoy delicious food
Sunny A — Google review
It was truly a wonderful experience. Everyone was incredibly kind, warm-hearted, and welcoming. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and we left with big smiles on our faces. We came as a group of five friends, and each of us was genuinely impressed and satisfied. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone. The atmosphere was so warm and authentic, and they reflected the beauty of Turkish culture in such an elegant and heartfelt way. It was a real pleasure to be part of it.

Unpretentious quick serve Turkish place. We went for lunch - food was simple but quite good. Service was okay - our server didn’t really check on us once she delivered the food. Ambience needs some upkeep.

I hadn’t been here in almost 8 years, and the place looks so much better now—definitely an upgrade! The service has improved too. I highly recommend the lamb gyro dish
Miguel P — Google review
The food was amazing, the meat was tender & seasoned to perfection - everyone had good things to say about their order. The interior is decorated beautifully & the air conditioning was a blessing especially in the houston heat. We got baklava for dessert & it was a table favourite!! Good for small or large group settings & the staff is really professional.

Pho restaurant
Pho Binh is a cherished gem in Houston's vibrant Vietnamese dining scene, known for its homemade pho and banh mi. With multiple locations, including the popular Heights spot, this informal eatery has become a go-to for locals craving authentic flavors. The menu features an array of rice and noodle dishes that complement their rich beef broth perfectly. A highlight at Pho Binh is the option to add silky bone marrow to your pho, creating an indulgent experience that's hard to resist.
Enjoyed my lunch today. It was my 2nd visit. Today I had the vermicelli chicken with a fried egg and a cup of bone broth. Mmmmm good. I haven’t had the pho yet but from the taste of the broth I bet it’s amazing. Great place especially if you’re in the area. Can’t wait to come back. Lmk what yall think.
Jason A — Google review
Truly the best pho I’ve ever had. The broth was so clean and comforting — light but still full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and just really well done. It was one of those meals that leaves you feeling good afterward. Absolutely love it!
Vanessa's R — Google review
We were looking for a new pho place to experience after reading some reviews we decided to give this place a try. Love the location & the customer service was great!! I ordered the chicken pho, my daughter ordered the tofu pho. She really enjoyed hers but I didn’t care for the noodles they used. They were thick and hard to break up in the bowl. I enjoy the thinner noodles usually used in pho. The broth was good but not the best I’ve had. We started with 3 appetizers, got 1 free for spending over $50 LOVED that. The firecracker shrimp 10/10, the chicken egg rolls 6/10 and the dumplings 10/10. We also ordered a fresh juice Red Juice, delicious. 10/10 red beet, orange, apple, celery, carrot & lemon. The atmosphere is modern and clean. Customer service 10/10 very friendly and helpful once we told them it was our first time here. We probably won’t return only because I didn’t like the noodles used in the pho but super happy we tried them out and wish them the best of luck.
Jelica G — Google review
The beef rib pho was absolutely exceptional, thick, hearty meat, and flavor-wise out of this world. The meatballs were the best I've ever tried. And the broth was delicious and came out very hot which allowed the bean sprouts to simmer. The rice noodles were thin and very tasty. Overall a fantastic pho, highly, highly recommend!
Alex S — Google review
I decided on Pho today as I’m feeling under the weather and I wanted something warm flavorful and comforting. I was take care of by Ruby who was excellent! Great attitude, great recommendation and empathetic! Rare finds in the service industry these days. The food was equally fantastic!
Richina L — Google review
Ive been coming here for years! If that doesn't tell you something then let me explain further. The food is delicious at amazing prices, that doesn't include happy hour which is even better. My go to appetizer is the spicy bone marrow, and if you didn't get spring rolls did you even go? Lychee martini, enough said. Beautiful atmosphere patio or indoor. I felt very welcomed when I went in on my birthday with strawberry cake, thank yall again!
Divenhi O — Google review
Disappointed with the portion size for takeout. I ordered a Large Pho Tai and received a very small portion of noodles in the bowl (see photos attached). I can’t imagine what a Regular portion size is if this is the large size! Paid $15.25 for a large pho and probably the most expensive I’ve paid for pho for what I got. Extremely disappointed.
Sydney — Google review
Food: 4 stars Service: 1 star Atmosphere: 1 star I came here for dinner around 7:30 pm. The patio was pretty packed, but the dining room was nearly empty with plenty of open seating. Unfortunately, the person who took our order at the counter showed zero customer service skills, no smile, no thank you, and didn’t even ask what size we wanted for our meal. We ordered a vermicelli bowl with pork and shrimp, shrimp spring rolls, and a chicken pho (ordered dark meat but received white meats, had to ask for remake). The total came to about $40, which felt overpriced for what we received. The food was fresh, my fiancé enjoyed his bowl, but the chicken pho was bland to me. By the time we left around 8 pm, a group of about five employees were gathered behind the counter chatting, while both the dining room and patio still had dirty tables and dishes. Yet again, no “bye thank you have a great night” when guests leaving. It’s disappointing to see high labor costs paired with poor deployment and lack of attention to guests. I genuinely want to support local businesses, but with mid-level food quality, high prices, and poor customer service, I wouldn’t come back.

Went for Houston Restaurant Weeks, but have been there before… Service was good, but we had to occasionally get another servers attention since ours was nowhere to be found when needed (not sure how that’s possible in such a small place)… the salads (Cesar and watermelon) were good, not great… Connecticut lobster rolls were very good… the coleslaw was surprisingly good. Cheesecake was good. Patio is great in cooler weather. Recommended

Came here for an event. We had the back room mostly to ourselves. It was a great time with great service. The food was wonderful as well, highly recommend the smash burger (got too excited and forgot to snag a picture before it was gone)!

Nice little place near downtown Houston. Crab Beignets were very good and filling. A little disappointed in the Garlic Butter wings. Super excited they had Eagle Rare for my dessert, don’t normally see that in places

B.B. Lemon has always been one of my favorite lunch spots in Houston. Just like its sister restaurant, B&B Butchers, it delivered not only incredible food but also that signature level of service that made every visit feel special. The quality was always there—thoughtful dishes, bold flavors, and a menu that hit the sweet spot between comfort and creativity. Whether I stopped in for a casual lunch or brought colleagues along, B.B. Lemon made it feel effortless and enjoyable every time. What really made it stand out, though, was the atmosphere. The warm greetings, the attentive staff, and the sense that nothing was ever too much to ask—those touches made it more than just a restaurant. It became a favorite part of my routine, and having it so close to the office was a true bonus. It’s incredibly sad to know B.B. Lemon is closing its doors. To the team—job well done. You created something special, and we’ll miss you more than you know.

Unfortunately, this place is extremely underwhelming. Nothing on the menu is worth the high prices. There is limited indoor seating, but the seating options are comfortable. The entire layout, including the entrance, is not wheelchair friendly, though. It is definitely recommended that you make a reservation should you choose to come here. The chicken lollipop appetizer did not have a good fry on them, so the sauce was the only flavorful part. The ceasar salad appetizer is a very small portion with far too much dressing added. The meat of the burgers had minimal flavor, and the cheese placed on them is the cheap oil based kind. The buns that the burgers were placed on were so thin and floppy that it was nearly impossible to keep everything together to eat. The fries are just thick freezer fries with a hefty amount of salt thrown on top. The cheesecake is the same kind you can get from a deli franchise. The only things we enjoyed were the brownie and the lemonade (which is made with Meyer lemons). Despite the subpar food, I did appreciate the kind staff.

We went for Easter lunch and the restaurant was very accommodating with our larger party reservation. We did experience a mess up and they forgot to put in my husband’s order. However, the manager came over and apologized and offered to not only compensate us with a free entree but a free dessert as well. I was able to modify my cocktail (Raspberry Beret) into a mocktail, their grilled cheese and tomato soup was amazing. The fish & chips were delicious and the fish was perfectly fried, without being greasy. We will definitely be going back.

Only a few tables occupied but service wasn't great. Water, coffee refills etc were tough to come by. The bacon was good but the French toast lacked flavor and was way overdone so the burnt taste didn't help.

Backstreet Cafe, located in River Oaks, is a charming and elegant Houston institution housed in a converted house. The restaurant offers a homestyle New American menu and gourmet cocktails in an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere. With its picturesque courtyard and occasional live jazz, the cafe exudes charm and warmth.
My girlfriends & I chose the Backstreet Cafe for our weekly girls lunch this week. What a pleasant surprise! The restaurant is cozy and very nicely decorated. We had a very good and attentive waiter. We all chose different entrees and we all expressed complete satisfaction with flavors and portion size. I had the Pecan Chicken beautifully plated with mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach with a red sauce. The chicken was juicy and tender with a unique bits of pecans. My girlfriends had the chicken enchiladas and the steak salad respectively . I’ve included pictures of their plates as well. We shared the calamari appetizer with a delightful sauce and finally for desert a chocolate cake with our cappuccinos. They offer valet which makes it quite convenient to park on an otherwise busy street. Overall our visit was wonderful. It was a tad cool today so we opted to eat inside but we look forward to returning to have lunch out on one of their lovely patios - out front or rear of the restaurant.

It's a cute house style restaurant. We got the calamari, smoked chicken hash and salmon. The calamari was tasty as well as the salmon but Everything else was pretty basic. Apparently their weekday brunch is different from the weekend so may check out the weekend one sometime and see if it's better.

This is the perfect place for a weekend brunch! Our meal started with complimentary muffins that were so yummy, and we ate so quickly, I forgot to take a picture. The menu has many tempting choices, but I ultimately chose the Broccoli & Cheddar Quiche, topped with a creamy Sottocenere sauce and served with an arugula salad and roasted potatoes…absolutely delicious! My friend really enjoyed the salmon tacos. The portions are very generous. The service was excellent. We were well attended and never felt rushed, so we were able to enjoy the relaxing outdoor patio. We will definitely be back!

12/28 I trusted the good reviews but I was extremely disappointed. The only good thing(which is why I gave two stars), was parking. Valet parks your car for free so you just tip. I also liked the complimentary muffins and the glazed orange chocolate brioche buns we ordered to start. Those tasted fine. Everything else…. I got there at 12:30 for brunch and it took the waiters 15mins to come take our drink orders. Drinks came in another 15mins and I placed my food order. That took over 1hour to get to me. We ordered the seafood gumbo (this was very bland, no spice, no taste, just 4pieces of shrimp, one tiny piece of fish, rice etc. the taste was bad), brisket Migas (tasted pretty basic), Sea Bass, Roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts (the sea bass tasted fine but everything else on the plate didn’t). On to the drinks. We ordered the Deep purple (this tasted like sparkling water with coloring), Service was also subpar. The Nutella iced coffee tasted too watered down. I will not be returning.
Nelly O — Google review
Nice patio and service, complimentary bread was delish, but food was subpar. The gumbo was borderline tasteless, chicken was greasy and under seasoned, enchiladas was not flavorful. Verdict: won’t be back

Super crowded on Saturday brunch hour. There to celebrate a special occasion. The service was good, the food temp was perfect; but the food was just not good. We had 6 people at our table, got appetizers and other items. I don't really think anyone enjoyed their meal. Including a burger, because the bun was too thick. The tortilla soup was not very flavorful, the duck spring rolls were overfried. The eggs Benedict had too much going on. Will not return. It was extremely noisy in the room. This place used to be better. Way better meals in Houston.
Kat S — Google review
My wife’s favorite breakfast, lunch, Sunday Brunch spot. Weather permitting the outside patio is perfect. This restaurant was originally a house and has an eclectic feel. You can eat upstairs too! They have live jazz on the weekends. The brisket amigas are fantastic and I personally like the salads and steak dishes. Manuel took great care of us this time and the manager Nelson always makes us feel special. Please come say hello and enjoy a wonderful meal.
Jeffrey C — Google review
My wife and I joined our friends from church for lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed our meals!  the wait staff was prompt and did not rush and was able to read our flow of conversations and took our order at the best times. From the mocktails and the roasted cauliflower, to our main courses and dessert, it's worth a visit or two! Parking is limited to open street parking or valet, I feel the valet was well worth it and I opted for the $30 car wash since we were there to enjoy our time with friends and great food!

Kata Robata is a modern and stylish restaurant known for its innovative sushi and Japanese small plates, including Kobe beef skewers. Chef Manabu Horiuchi, a four-time James Beard Award nominee, ensures an unparalleled Japanese dining experience with his unconventional rolls and dishes. The restaurant's specialty lies in nigiri and sashimi, offering an eight-piece chirashi bowl at lunch that features expertly sliced fish, sushi rice, and various toppings.
This sushi restaurant will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was the very first spot my husband and I visited together when we moved to Houston, and from that day on, it has been our go-to no matter the day, time, or occasion. I know Houston is filled with endless sushi spots, but trust me nothing compares to this one(my only opinion). The freshness, the flavors, the presentation… every bite feels like it’s made with love and perfection. The fish practically melts in your mouth, and the rolls are pure works of art. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel like family every single time. We’ve tried other places out of curiosity, but we always find ourselves coming back here because it’s simply the best. Whether it’s a date night, a casual lunch, or just a craving we can’t ignore, this is the place we choose without hesitation. If you’re in Houston and love sushi, do yourself a favor come here. You’ll fall in love just like we did. Highly, highly recommend!

Came here to celebrate a birthday and it was the perfect choice as alway. The food was outstanding ; fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations from the menu that we absolutely loved. Easily the best sushi spot in Houston. Highly recommend!

I have mixed feelings about this place. I’ll start with the good stuff, the server surprised my wife with a small cake to celebrate her birthday, love the fact that he went above and beyond he also gave a decent recommendation for dishes/food BUT I felt rushed throughout my experience dining. It was probably his style of doing things but he kept fidgeting with things on our table (removing trash, aligning places/cups etc) I understand I’m an OCD person myself and I felt that he was too but i want to have a slow experience while dining. Overall the taste of the food was good, price maybe a little high but definitely worth it. I give a rating of 4/5.

Came to celebrate my birthday and Van was FANTASTIC!! Best service I’ve ever had and the food was great too! He took extra care to make sure to answer our questions and asked about allergies. The presentation was impeccable, every dish looked fantastic and tasted even better. We got the kata house salad, lobster and crab ramen, Wagyu Katsu Sando, Japanese wagyu beef, velvet lychee, and the old fashion way. All mouth watering The tomatoes were so good my husband who doesn’t like tomatoes won’t stop talking about them, and the velvet lychee was probably the best cocktail I’ve had in awhile. For desert I ordered the warm blueberry cake that came with earl gray lemon ice cream and it was just to die for! Our server brought me a serving of green tea cheesecake which was also incredible! My husband got coffee afterward and he says it’s the best coffee he’s ever had. The bathrooms were clean and had a full heated bidet and were very well decorated. Lovely experience would recommend!!

Kobe beef is exceptional! I like to pair it with a bowl of white rice 😃 Crab and lobster ramen is perfectly spiced and very rich. love its atmosphere. Service is excellent; very professional and pleasant. Can get really busy on weekends. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

Everything pictured here was absolutely amazing. I didn’t take a picture of it, but the mac & cheese was unforgettable and the reason we went back a second time. The regular and the lobster mac is worth a try. The service is top tier. If you haven’t been to Kata Robata, what are you doing? Come check it out! Best, fresh sushi and other food items. The wagyu hot stone bowl is divine as well.
Jocelyn V — Google review
Our experience at Kata Robata was great. We really enjoyed everything that we ordered with the exception of the nigiri. The madai crudo was excellent and was easily the star of the show, which is interesting because it’s also a raw fish. It tasted so much more fresh than its nigiri counterparts. The wagyu sando and kobe beef skewers were also excellent in their texture and taste. I felt that the uni & king crab spoon could use a bit more uni. I could only really taste the crab during the bite but it was still overall really good. The nigiri was only decent - it was warm and reminded me of the type of fish quality you get at an AYCE sushi restaurant. There’s an increasing amount of competition in the Japanese food scene in Houston and if Kata Robata would like to stay competitive, then sourcing fresher fish would be advantageous for their business.
Amber T — Google review
Wow! Such a fantastic Japanese restaurant. Cool vibes...and more importantly delicious food. We had the Texas wagyu sando, chirashi, and the sashimi for two. The highlight/surprise of our meal was when our wonderful server asked if we wanted the shrimp heads, which we assumed to be decorative, fried. What? Obviously the answer is YES! And man, that was really the best!!! And the shaved ice was fantastic! It came with a lychee flavored condensed milk???!!! Amazing. Definitely would go again!

Katz's is a New York-style deli with multiple locations in Houston, including Montrose, The Heights, Galleria, and The Woodlands. Known for its stacked sandwiches and traditional deli recipes, Katz's offers a casual dining experience with a Big Apple theme. The original location on Lower Westheimer operates 24/7, allowing customers to enjoy their famous deli sandwiches and unique offerings like cheesecake milkshakes at any time of day or night.
It was much better than I initially thought it would be. The service was excellent, everyone was very nice and I felt welcome. The food tasted great, well seasoned all around, and good flavor. The chicken in my pasta was well cooked and juicy, not dry like many places tend to have. Will be returning. The only gripe I kinda had was that the upstairs wasn't open when we were there. I'm assuming that's accounting for times when they are the most busy, though, not a deal breaker.
Dexter J — Google review
I like Katz. We started ordering from here over Covid so everything was take out but delivered in a way that kept the food tasting good. When we eventually dined at this location we were met with a very distinct atmosphere that mixed a New York diner vibe in. The food has always been really good all around from their desserts to their sandwiches to their salads.

Food was amazing! Atmosphere was beautiful and very cute, and they have a nice parking lot right by the building. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. Though there was a pet hair in the matzo ball in the Matzo Ball Soup, overall the flavor was great. Couldn’t tell the waiter cause he wasn’t around. That’s the only downside, the service was extremely slow. There was only one other table in the restaurant and I was looking at the menu and my friend ordered before me. The waiter did not come back around until 10 mins after my friend’s food came back to order my food. Same with getting the waiter for the check.

This restaurant has a bar area and an upstairs . Free parking across the street which was a great bonus for the area, because typically you pay . I had chicken wings which were ok, nothing really stood out besides the lack of sauce , reminded me of a Buffalo Wild Wings . The homemade chips were great , nice and crisp definitely worth getting . We had a pasta dish with sausage and shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic and sausage was full of flavor but the pasta sauce was lacking and left the noodles dry. Are service was above average and she was smiling and helped with the menu.
Kevin B — Google review
I like Katz. It's a place that will hit the spot with no frills. The food would be a 5 if the sausage wasn't fried so long. The waitress was amazing. Kitchen is slow. But it was a busy place. Lots of room to sit, but not that many cooks or Kitchen beds. Also, why was some dude fixing a serving tray. Like he was taking the handle end of a spoon and doing something to the tray. But whatever. The coffee and pecan pancakes were great.

This place is amazing! The food is awesome and the workers are super nice and you can tell they care about your experience. My sister and I shared the Wisconsin cheese curds and they were 10/10! If you visit, ask for Kevin! He was so polite and amazing to have a conversation with. If I come back to Houston, I would absolutely stop here again.

A number of us (8 at one table and 8 at another table) had plans to go out together after church on a Sunday. Realizing that it was a holiday weekend and a Sunday we realized it would be very busy and it was. We were able to secure the two tables but unfortunately, calling ahead and asking for accommodations wasn’t allowed - which isn’t a big deal, honestly. I typically use OpenTable for that purpose but wasn’t involved in the planning. The service was the best part. The restaurant was almost unbearably loud. I don’t know if this is the exception rather than the rule - I don’t frequent this location but it was almost too much for several of us. The food was mediocre at best and incredibly overpriced for what you receive. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and it was just a sad, soggy mess with this incredibly strange fried egg smashed between a coupe tiny slices of meat and unfortunately, in order to get it out I lost the cheese. It was “griddled” (which the menu stated) but that equated to two soggy slices of bread dusted with powdered sugar - which makes the mysterious fried egg even stranger. Just don’t do it. Then the waitress specifically asked what side I preferred and I said sweet potato fries and nothing else was mentioned. I get the check and they charged me $4.99 for a side that she asked me to pick. I just felt some type of way about that whole thing. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I highly doubt I’ll be back to try it again. There looks to be plenty of parking but it was still very difficult to park but that’s got a lot to do with the area. It is what it is. The elevator was also out which made it really difficult for one member of our party because the only restroom is upstairs. So be aware if you are handicapped or a member of your dining party is because that’s a no-go.
Lindsay M — Google review
Waited 25 minutes for a $10 bowl of soup and club sandwich to go. The matzoh ball soup was inedible. 2 TOTALLY RAW matzoh balls, tasteless chicken and about 3 tablespoons of lukewarm broth. What a waste. The club sandwich was edible. The side of slaw was far from fresh. Overall a very disappointing experience.

The Annie Cafe & Bar is a vibrant and popular eatery located near the 610 Loop in Houston. Originally known as Cafe Annie, it has undergone contemporary renovations while maintaining its eclectic allure. The restaurant offers classic drinks and American-Southwestern cuisine in an ornate dining room, making it a perfect spot for Instagram-worthy moments. Under the direction of Berg Hospitality Group, The Annie hosts festive events like Sunday brunch and holiday specials with live music and photo opportunities.
I can here based on a recommendation and overall I really enjoyed it. Valet parking in the front and well-lit self parking directly behind the restaurant. You have to walk up two flights of stairs to get to the eating area. The food was great, drinks were great and the service was great. I really have no complaints about the place.

We had a Scottish Salmon and a Heritage Chicken subbed with Salmon. The Salmon was a bit salty, but thankfully it was crispy, so I enjoyed that. Unfortunately, everything else on our plate was flavorless. It tasted like there was no seasoning at all, especially the sauces that the Salmon was plated over. For dessert, I had the flourless chocolate cake which was so soft and delicious, I would totally recommend that! We also had the lemon cake, which was average. The service was excellent! The staff was very kind and attentive, but at that price point, I was expecting the food to have flavor to it other than salt.

I loved the place and the food. The service was great as well. I went at lunchtime, and it wasn’t very crowded. It’s a very nice place to sit or invite a group of people. I loved the crab tostadas, jumbo lump crab cake, and the filet mignon steak. The dessert was really delicious, especially the pecan tart.

We had a wonderful brunch celebrating my sister's birthday. Some of our favorite dishes were the french toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, and blueberry muffins. The cocktails were also delicious. I loved the Telluride Flatliner. Shawn made us feel extra special surprising my sister with a complimentary birthday dessert, shots, and even let us try some chocolate cake. He was very friendly and checked on us often. He even showed us a tour of Turners and their hidden speakeasy Emilia's Havana. We can't wait to come back soon. Thank you again for making our experience extra special Shawn. :-)

Came to the Annie twice, one for galentines and another for my birthday. Both times, it was a delight. Service is top notch, someone's always refilling your water and asking about how things are. Now let me say generally American food is not on my top cuisines, so this was refreshing pleasure, the basics staples were all cooked well and with excellent pairings. Their Scottish salmon was so delicious I got it twice, same for the mushroom soup. Another favorite of our table was the coffee rubbed steak. Ok, lastly the espresso martini deserves a paragraph of its own. They're dangerously good. I had 3 and have no regrets. The restaurant is large and spacious and decorated beautifully, true to its "in post oak area" nature. Lots of photo op places. Looking forward to coming back!

Paulie's is a laid-back Italian cafe and espresso bar owned by Paul Petronella, offering a variety of housemade pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and Panini. The wine list is designed to be user-friendly and the staff is knowledgeable and ready to assist. In addition to the food menu, there are also sweet treats like cookies, brownies, bread pudding, and pie available for dessert.
Absolutely one of, if not the absolute best Italian restaurants in Houston. We stopped in on a Tuesday night after seeing great reviews online for Paulie's. Upon arrival, there is a private parking lot behind the restaurant that was easy and convenient to park in. When we walked inside the restaurant, we took note of the pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is counter-service style and very convenient to order and find a table. The menu is wonderful with plenty of selections without being overwhelming. We ordered vegetable soup, pesto pasta with chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, and Canestri and Broccoli (shells with oil/garlic/parmesean, and broccoli with chicken). We also ordered iced tea and ginger lemonade as well. The ginger lemonade and iced tea was very good, fresh, and not too sweet. The vegetable soup was rustic, homemade, and had an amazing broth. The soup was full of thick cut veggies (carrots, celery, potatoes, red peppers, corn, and green beans). This was one of the absolute best veggie soups I've ever had, and $7 for a large bowl is a great value. The spaghetti and meatballs was VERY good. The sauce is a homemade San Marzano tomato sauce. Very rich flavor without too much acidity. The meatballs were moist, tender, flavorful, and not overly spiced. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The pesto was extremely fresh and bright with very clean and light flavors and a delicious olive oil base. The kalamata olives were a very nice touch, and the grilled chicken was cooked to perfectly. Nice crispy pan seared outside and so moist and tender inside. Again, the pasta was cooked perfectly. The Canestri and Brocccoli (shells with olive oil/parmesean/garlic with broccoli and chicken) was absolutely out of this world. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had in my life. Dripping with flavor without being too heavy. Again, the pasta and chicken were both cooked perfectly. The meals came with garlic bread, which was very nice. Not overwhelming with garlic and cooked perfectly. Such a nice compliment to the meals. We finished up with a mocha latte and some of their homemade Easter shortbread cookies. Excellent latte, with beautiful flavor and not too sweet. The shortbread Easter cookies were absolutely incredible. Mindblowingly good how buttery and tasty these are. The price for dinner 3 people without alcohol was around $77 and another $12 for the coffee and cookies (all not counting tip). Overall, this is truly a hidden gem of Houston. If you want REALLY good Italian food at a VERY good price, and in the greater Houston area, this is the #1 place to go, period.

The food here was absolutely fantastic, and in pretty generous portions as well. My only issue was that I found a chunk of hard plastic in my food as i was eating it. Thought it was a bone at first until i spit it out and saw it. Things happen so i can try to look past that, but the food is quite pricey - yet there is no atmosphere to the restaurant to accommodate those prices. The interior is very minimal. There are no servers, you get up to get your own food and drink - i just cant understand what about this earns the prices they charge for the food. I suppose its worth trying but with the plethora of options in houston i personally wouldnt go twice.

I placed a to-go order today around 7:50 PM and was really looking forward to one of my favorite dishes—chicken piccata—along with a full Italian salad and full spaghetti with meatball. Everything seemed fine until I got home and noticed that the chicken piccata was only a half portion. I’ve ordered this dish many times in the past, and a full order has always come with two chicken cutlets. This time, there was only one. I returned to the restaurant to check if there was a mix-up, but was told that a full order now only comes with one cutlet—and a half order comes with half a cutlet. At $26, I expected more, especially considering past experiences. It was a disappointing surprise from a place I’ve enjoyed for a long time. I hope this was a misunderstanding or a recent change in portions, but either way, it left me really let down.

Known for its tasty bread and complimentary WiFi, this counter-serve establishment has become a strong competitor in the breakfast scene. With an array of delicious breakfast options and various flavorful drinks like the mango and citrus beverage, customers are sure to find something they love. One notable feature is the unlimited drink access provided by Panera Bread.
We stopped by Panera Bread for breakfast, and the food was just as good as always — fresh, tasty, and satisfying. However, I noticed this location wasn’t as neat or well-kept compared to other Panera spots I’ve visited. A little more attention to cleanliness would really elevate the experience, but overall it’s still a solid place to grab a good breakfast.

I liked my sandwich. It was actually very good. This place is hectic. They might need to hire more help. A lot of the tables are left dirty. Also the line to order gets very long and moves slowly. The atmosphere is nice. Very casual. I like the patio area as well . It’s cute. The employees are also really nice.

I ordered some food for my kids and I am aware it was 10-15mins before closing, so they were probably in a rush to get home. I ordered 2 of pick- two meals. One was broccoli cheddar soup with tomato basil BLT, while the other was Mac & cheese with cranberry chicken sandwich. But they really didn’t put a lot of effort in making the sandwiches. You could barely see the bacon in one sandwich, and they just scooped the chicken salad on the other sandwich.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but after four bad experiences, I am a bit fed up with this location and will not return. They messed up my breakfast sandwich 4 times, once without egg & sausage, once without any meat, once with bacon not sausage, and today Asiago bagel instead of ciabatta bread. I even called to confirm my order, like the manager suggested the day before because I love Panera. I didn’t want to stop going since this is the closest one. Stacy the manager was truly kind and tried to accommodate me the best she could, but something has to be done about this location. Panera has been in my family for many years, whether it’s as employees, management, or customers and this establishment is a complete disaster. I hope in the future they do better for customers who are paying a lot for messed up food.
Leanne M — Google review
I've ordered delivery multiple times and it's constantly messed up, today they forgot the egg on my bacon egg and cheese sandwich and on top of that the sandwich looked crushed and was super thin . The Greek yogurt was literally frozen rock solid and inedible. Last time I ordered delivery for lunch, they forgot the bacon in my bacon Mac, and the tuna sandwich was 85 percent lettuce 15 percent tuna. The smoothies are always not a smoothie like it's just served melted, like it's majority milk instead of Greek yogurt. This location sucks, Panera isn't that great to begin with, but this location really just drops the ball each and every time. Not wasting money here anymore
D — Google review
Horrible food and service! They just threw our bagels in a bag! They also forgot 2 of them. Panera is going downhill fast! The food is just not good anymore. We will not use again!
Regina G — Google review
My experience doesn’t have to do with the service or the food as it’s always good but the environment? The bathrooms are sticky and smelly and it looks like no one cleans the tables or the floor. I used to love Panera but the uncleanliness really takes away a lot. Hope management steps up and takes accountability and does something.
Giselle R — Google review
I've been to this location numerous times. It isn't particularly clean. Tables are dirty with it generally having an unkept look. I've never been greeted on entering. There always seems to be a shortage of staff. Placing an order is waiting for anyone to take my order. Last visit, the guy taking my order stopped, while I was placing it , and waited on two other people. I've had similar things happen at various locations. Something seems lacking in their management . I really like their orange scones and light blend coffee or I wouldn't be going back.

Tiger Noodle House is a modern Chinese restaurant that offers traditional cuisine along with milk tea and plum juice. The menu features a variety of flavorful dishes, including sesame chicken, shrimp fried rice, spicy squid, and Mapo Tofu. While some patrons found the Dan Dan noodles too sweet and the homemade tofu too hard, others enjoyed the tasty but very spicy food.
So we went to Tiger Noodle House for the first time last night and I can't say enough good things about this place. The food was absolutely phenomenal! We started off with some appetizers, with the shrimp rolls and pork dumplings that were amazing. Then, we shared some hot and sour soup which was very scrumptious with just the right amount of spice. Our entrees were just as good. We all ordered different ones to share: Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Garlic Eggplant, and Tiger Fried Noodles. The best part? Plenty of leftovers for the next day. Tiger Noodle House has such a wide range of food on their menu it makes it hard to pick which dish you want, but you can't go wrong here. Great place and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back.

Loved it!! Eight of us went for dinner. We ordered several different dishes, I'm attaching those pictures. Food was great service was great. I recommend this restaurant!!

This was not a good experience. The place is in need of an update. Tried the Bao, definitely not fresh and they were like rubber and had to be heated up. The duck appeared to have been cooked two or three times. The people were nice and I felt bad for them since they weren’t cooking the food. I am sorry but CANNOT recommend this place.

Food was decent. Lots of spices and flavor. Alittle on the oily side, but that is just a personal preference.

Stopped here for lunch while in the neighborhood. They definitely have some solid Chinese dishes worth trying. We ordered soup dumplings, general tso, and lovers beef. The lovers beef knocked it out of the park. Good service.

Lots of flavor! Got the orange chicken (cause I was feeling pretty 'american') and it was really light in breading. I like mine a little more breaded, but again, the flavors made the whole dish! The spicy noodle soup was fantastic!

Only place I purchase Shrimp Fried Rice no other restaurant compares to there's. Even if I do try other cuisine that serves shrimp fried rice I always compare it to the Katy Texas Tiger Noodles House Location. So delicious I love it.

Was there for lunch today. I ordered pork soup dumplings, chicken fried rice, spicy wonton, sesame chicken, roasted pork noodle. Food was prepared pretty quickly after ordering. They gave us bonus stir fried green beans . I like the fried rice the most. The rest were pretty good too. Good portion reasonable price. Will come back to try other food on the menu

Samurai Noodle, located at 1801 Durham, is a casual restaurant known for its authentic and carefully crafted ramen bowls featuring housemade noodles. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including the Kinoko (Mushroom) Shouyu Tokyo ramen and the Spicy Shoyu Tonkotsu. Customers can enjoy pick-up or delivery through various platforms such as UberEats, GrubHub, ChowNow, DoorDash, PostMates and Favor.
10/10. Thomas gave the best experience. Today I got the passionfruit tea and spicy miso soup. One of the best ramen places I’ve been!! Had this tea that’s was so flavorful with love and then the ramen had the right amount of spicy and seasoning with savory love… no crumbs left behind
Diamond B — Google review
Ramen is terrible 🤢 The noodles were hard, had a strange after taste, were clumping together (just like when you make square instant noodles), the bamboo was hard, and the boiled egg COLD. If you're a fan of ramen, I do not recommend it.
Elizabeth L — Google review
I stopped here during a show next door and was pleasantly surprised by this little 'market'. The dining options in here are just right. The bar in there is equally good. AS for Samurai Noodle, I was NOT disappointed. The Ramen/noodle was just right. Quick to serve and delicious. I would definitely stop in here again and dine. It is definitely a gem of a place next to the the theater. I am sure it gets busy during office hours and lunches.

Please send help I paid 30 dollars for ramen and shrimp dumplings for the ramen to be bad and dumplings tasteless. It looks like instant noodles were used, and making those at home they would be more enjoyable. The noodles have a horrible texture, the chicken taste like carboard, and the broth and noodles are incredibly salty. Don't come if you have taste buds (abd value your money).

The service was great. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and very engaging. The food was good and priced well. The portions are large. I chose to play it safe and got the Miso Shouyu chicken and the miso shouyu pork belly because I did not want anything spicy before getting on the plane.

The Lyric Market food hall was a little quiet tonight, but Samurai Noodle was on point. When ordering their Spicy Garlic Shoyu, remember that they are serious about their spice! It is delicious, but not for the feint of heart!

We had the spicy miso tonkotsu and the spicy garlic shouyu the portions are huge! We parked in the the garage and they gave us validated the parking for 2 hrs and they told us they do it even on event nights. Really tasty I’m glad I came

If you’ve been to the Durham location and miss this spot I promise it’s not that much farther and the parking is way better. The food is the same but you also have the option of picking up other snacks or drinks. Wonderful customer service. Atmosphere is also top tier. Vietnamese restaurant
Pho Binh By Night is an informal Vietnamese eatery that offers homemade pho, banh mi, rice, and noodle dishes. Customers appreciate the reasonable prices and polite service at this cozy spot. The pho is highly praised for its tasty broth and generous portions of brisket. Some patrons note that prices have increased slightly over the years but still find the food to be hot and satisfying. Additionally, they now offer shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce on the menu.
Very good Pho, not over priced. Nice cozy place I went for dinner tonight. I had Brisket Pho with Hot Tea. It came up to $13 & some change. Very reasonable. Very polite people. I will return. I also was able to have my bean sprouts steamed which is the correct way to eat Pho so your sprouts don't cool the Broth down. Broth was very tasty with nice thick pieces of Brisket. Definitely getting 5 🌟 from me. New spot on list ❣ (Only issue didn't have Bone Marrow which I needed tonight 😁) but still was excellent.
Shantell L — Google review
I came here thinking about trying out the bone marrow soup. I thought there were baguettes we could eat it with but I may have seen an old picture since they don't offer it anymore. The service is decent and we were able to be seated when we came at around 5pm on a Sunday. The QR code was not working for me or my other friends at the table in the back by the restroom. I ordered the #1 Pho Đặc biệt small along with the bone marrow soup. The brisket was very tender and the tripe was just right for me. The bone marrow was super smooth like butter in my mouth and when I added it to my pho, it made it more better. I may have been overthinking this but there seemed to be such a small portion of rice noodles. It was way less than what I was expecting to have. The broth was flavorful with all that meaty goodness. The price was not bad for everything.
KR N — Google review
Came here due to a pho craving and wasn’t disappointed! The place overall is very nice and clean. Prices on the menu are pretty cheap, and the pho itself is good too. Got the meatballs and it was good. I also got the egg roll, and if you like shrimp, I reccommend you get it! The noodles in the Pho were also really good. Overall a nice place :)
Bethany G — Google review
Man this place is the stuff. After seen a buzz video about this place, we decided to visit it. We being from Cypress it was a good drive to it, but man was it worth it. We are not Asian, so we can't compare the pho to maybe a more traditional one, but what we can say is that we loved it. It has a small menu, but man was it overwhelming mostly because we didn't know what to expect, wish I would've went with what the waiter recommend, but my choice was still awesome. Will surely go back again.
Juan S — Google review
Their bone marrow was heavenly. The chicken pho tasted better than the beef pho but their both very delicious. The salted plum drink was really good and my girlfriend's green Thai tea was delicious as well. Would definitely go again if we're in the area.

Finally got to try the Legendary Pho binh by night. And our high expectations were well met. I had chicken pho, dry style with the soup on the side, and some shrimp eggrolls. My wife had rare steak in her pho. We loved the fresh vegetables, and wonderfully seasoned food, and to top it all off, it's not expensive at all. It was only $20 for us both, and we were both full and happy afterwards. The place is small, and homelike on the inside, and it was clean. The staff was very nice and was patient with us as we haven't had pho but one other time. We will be going back soon, and HIGHLT recommend it.
Darius — Google review
I have been going to Pho Binh By Night a few times over the years. Prices have gone up as a Large Pho is now about $12. I know costs have gone up. The food is always hot and I appreciate they offer fresh or steamed bean sprouts for the Pho. The Large pho is a big portion to be ready to eat, I was stuffed. They also finally added Shrimp Spring Rolls with peanut sauce to the menu, something that was noticeably missing. I appreciate this place is open late and close by and will continue to come here.
Scott R — Google review
Quick Summary: Great pho placed with large servings for great price. The pho is really tasty! Long Review: The food quality is excellent and the staff is really friendly and professional. The restaurant was simply decorated but it is very clean. Currently theyrequest you wear masks when not seated. Pricing is 8 to 12 range for pho without extras. The serving sizes are huge so a medium serving is a lot. I loved that they sell a few small snacks as well like poky and meiji panda cookies. You need to go to the register to pay when you are ready to go. While I am personally not a pho fanatic I loved the pho here. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good bowl of pho at a great price in a mom and pop restaurant.

West African restaurant
Nestled in a humble strip mall, Afrikiko has been delighting diners with authentic West African cuisine for over 15 years. This family-owned gem specializes in traditional Ghanaian dishes that are both comforting and flavorful. One of their standout offerings is the groundnut soup, a creamy peanut butter concoction blended with fresh vegetables and spices, perfect for pairing with their fluffy fufu—a delightful dough-like bread made from cassava.
Literally not exaggerating..... but truly my #1 spot now. Authentic, friendly, and QUICK. I asked for spice and they definitely brought it. Go see Ophelia and her family, they know exactly what they're doing, if you go anywhere else I cannot guarantee the same quality and deliciousness : ) **Pictured below is Efo Riro (no meat), Egusi (no meat), Jollof Rice + sauce (no meat), Fish Pepper Soup (no meat) all with pounded yam

Although this place is nestled away, it is awesomely, overwhelming, and flavors and hospitality! I was treated with a visit to this awesome restaurant by my family as I celebrated my 60th birthday this year. Upon arriving to this place, I had read reviews. The reviews were pretty good. As soon as we stepped through the door, we felt like family. It’s as though we showed up to our family‘s house and were sitting and waiting on the freshest, most amazingly prepared meal ever! The food was absolutely amazing. The meat pies, the food, the stews, the soups, the drinks, and rice dishes were extraordinarily delicious. Although we live over 200 miles away, this is a place that is worth the drive. If you are ever in Houston, passing through Houston, or like myself, you live far away, you will be glad to experience such culinary exquisiteness!

My boyfriend and I ordered takeout from here a few days ago and it was some of the best food we’ve had. We typically eat from Nigerian restaurants , so this was our first time trying Ghanaian cooking. We ordered Egusi soup and meat pies , the service was quick and kind. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu items. Highly recommend

Afrikiko This place serves traditional 🇬🇭 Ghana food seems to be a mixture of other beautiful African countries 🌍. I was greeted very well as I walked into the establishment. Reminds me so much of my trip to Ghana, I couldn't do anything but enjoy myself inside. Food was made to order and as the owner told me remember this is America so some of the spices and the things they use are not in the traditional food. My overall experience was very pleasing and the jollof rice was delicious. The fried plantains were the grand finale of this meal 🤩.

Delicious food. Amazing and friendly service! And an excellent place for Ghanaian and other African dishes. This place is family owned and you can clearly perceive their delight when you're excited by your meal. I ordered waakye (rice & peas) with fried plantains and goat meat stew. That was absolutely delicious! One friend ordered banku and okro soup, and the other got beans and fried plantains (red red). Their meals were also attractively served, and they confirmed that they were tasty and flavorful too. Check this place out for a fantastic meal experience. And when in doubt, be sure to ask your server for suggestions.

It was my first time trying African food. I ordered over the phone to go immediately when they opened. It took 25 minutes to be ready. Took me 20 minutes to get home. Food was very hot, I was glad it was. I give the food 4 because everything was well made. If you have not tried this food, go try it. I had the egusi with beef and Jolof rice, fufu and sweet plantains.

One reason I love Houston, so many humble and unassuming establishments all over the city and Afrikiko is a perfect example of that! Offering up all kinds of traditional African dishes in a clean and cared for space. We tried the okra soup with goat and fufu. The flavor was beyond, like a much better gumbo.. eating it was slightly more tricky though! The ladies working there are so sweet and special and you can tell there is a lot of love and care in this establishment. I can’t wait to go back and try some new dishes, Thank you Afrikiko!

Sao Lao Thai Café in Independence Heights, Houston, offers a cozy and trendy atmosphere that feels like stepping into a friend's apartment. Chef-owner Souli Phaduangdets' menu is a heartfelt tribute to her family's refugee past, inspired by her late mother who sold homemade dishes during the Vietnam War. Visitors praise the warm welcome from the owner and the delightful dining experience.
My mom and I walked in on a whim after a day of shopping and so glad we did. On the recommendation of the gentleman at the counter (the owner’s nephew), we ordered the boat noodle soup and Thai red curry. Both were incredible. We shared everything and were thrilled with every bite. By the time our mango sticky rice came out, we were already full but it was so good, we powered through anyway. The atmosphere is small but welcoming, the service was great, and the food is so worth it. We’ll definitely be back and you should, too!

Absolutely blown away by Sao Lao Thai Café! I’ve driven past this spot so many times, and I’m so glad we finally stopped in. The food was phenomenal—especially the Lao sausage appetizer with sticky rice and sauce (I could eat that as a full meal). The Thai red curry with ribeye was perfectly balanced and spicy just the way I like it. They even make their own Thai chili crisp—do not leave without grabbing a jar. Souli, the owner, is incredibly warm and attentive, and the whole place has this cozy, welcoming vibe. Plus—it’s BYOB, which is such a bonus for a casual date night. My partner loved the drunken noodles, though I personally found the soy sauce flavor a bit stronger than I prefer—but that’s just my taste. We’re already planning to come back for the boat noodles. Can’t recommend this place enough—definitely one of the best Thai/Lao meals I’ve had in the area!

We celebrated our anniversary here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From start to finish, the experience was truly exceptional. Our server, Rogelio, provided impeccable service—attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. Every detail was taken care of without ever feeling rushed. The food was outstanding, but the highlight of the evening was the Baked Alaska—hands down one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, making it the perfect place for a special occasion. We left feeling completely taken care of and already can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience! My older brother and I brought our parents out to celebrate their 35th anniversary and we had one of the best dining experiences! Our server Zach is top notch - he was very friendly, engaging, attentive, and knowledgeable, he took care of everything and we never had to ask him for anything twice. He truly was the best!Hailey was also wonderful in serving our table she provided excellent silent service but always had a smile on her face. She moved around us clearing plates and resetting so fast and quiet that our conversations were never interrupted and we never had to ask for drinks our cups were always full and the food was delicious! During the meal - there was a little issue with my plate so Zach and the manager Oliver came by and made sure to handle it right away and went above and beyond to remedy the issue. Definitely TOP Service. They were so gracious. They made the celebration extra special with roses decorating the table as well as complimentary desserts, my goodness were they decadent - unfortunately we were so full we could barely take a couple bites but the chocolate cake, the carrot cake, and the baked Alaska were such a treat. We will definitely be back! I came here once years ago and talked about it to my family all this time and now they got a chance to experience it and they too are excited to come back for more special occasions 😊👌🏻thank you Zach, Hailey, and Oliver for making it such a wonderful experience! One last comment: if you pay attention you’ll notice the music is not loud at all, the sound that fills the room is the conversations going on at all the tables - I took a look around and did not see any tables near me with phones out. I think that’s the point of having the music low - people can actually have conversations. Hence the reason I forgot to take pictures of the food to include here - I only remembered to take my phone out of my purse at the end when they were bringing the desserts. Isn’t that beautiful. ❤️

The staff went above and beyond to make the evening special, congratulating my husband multiple times and even surprising us with a complimentary dessert at the end.

Servers are attentive, friendly and well informed of the menu dishes and drinks. Food is excellent…we tried Rockefeller Oysters, Stone Crab, Prime Ribeye, Parker House Rolls, Mashed Potatoes and asparagus. All courses were well-plated, hot and tastefully seasoned. The steak was medium with a bit of red…the most tender steak we’ve ever eaten.

Trulucks is true luxury. The food is top tier, service impeccable and their recent remodel is GORGEOUS and brings a new ambiance to the space. There are too many great dishes to choose a favorite but stand-outs include their stone crab claws (love that they’re sustainable), oysters and miso sea bass. They also make a perfect steak and carrot cake worth dying for. They think of every detail - from the warm towel after chilled seafood to the cold fork for your salad - dinner is always a dream.

Rainbow Lodge is an elegant and historic cabin restaurant in Houston, known for its upscale American fare featuring wild game and seafood. The restaurant offers a romantic Valentine's Celebration for Two To-Go, including a gourmet meal and a bottle of champagne. Originally located next to Ima Hogg's Bayou Bend mansion in 1977, it has since moved to a century-old log cabin along the banks of White Oak Bayou while maintaining its lush grounds and rustic lodge decor.
I love Rainbow Lodge. I've been several times and it never disappoints. We went today for brunch and enjoyed everything. We had the whipped goat cheese, peas and snaps as well as the quail bites to start. For the entree we had the red fish and jumbo gulf shrimp and grits. So delicious! We sat at the bar top and enjoyed our meal with drinks. I highly recommend you try this place!

A true hidden treasure in Houston. Beautiful log cabin restaurant with a very nice patio area. The scenery is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re in another state. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The meat dishes are very tender, soft, and smoky. However there are some dishes that I don’t think are worth the price, but overall it is a nice restaurant to splurge on and enjoy a different scenery and space.

Valet parking. Top tier service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious fare: nice presentation & portion size. The food was the star. The game was cooked to perfection, so tender. The fish was well seasoned & the sauce & spinach were very good. Our least favorite bite of the night with the cheddar grits that came with the quail appetizer & the wild game entrée. A bit more seasoning would have helped. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. Hands down, the best dessert I've ever had. The atmosphere was elevated but not stuffy. We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. The card from the staff was a sweet touch. Highly recommend. Appetizer: CRISPY TEXAS QUAIL BITES Entrée 1: WILD GAME MIXED GRILL (venison, elk loin, & quail) Entrée 2: RAINBOW TROUT WITH LUMP BLUE CRAB & PECAN BROWN BUTTER Dessert: WARM CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING

Want to start by saying Thomas is an incredible server! He definitely made our experience more enjoyable! We went for the end of Houston restaurant week and they had a really great three course meal deal for $55. As a vegetarian, I don’t necessarily think my meal was worth the $55, but I do appreciate them having a vegetarian option on the menu so I can still go to the places my friends want to try. However, I think this was an incredible deal for those having the meat options on the menu. My one friend got the Bison, and the other had the Quail and Venison. The starter salads were phenomenal, and don’t even get me started on dessert. Firstly I really expected smaller portion since it was a deal but no, full sized desserts. Amazing. The peach panna cotta was so light and fresh, the bread pudding was soooo warm and soft, and the chocolate mousse perfectly rich. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant, especially for a nice date night or getting dressed up with the girls.

Rustic country vibe. Beautiful scenery with simple decor. Great for casual dinner with a fancy flare. Food was great. Mashed potatoes had too much goat cheese but still ok. Our waiter was talkative but extremely personable and kind. Can't remember his name but his wife loves horses. I'll definitely be back.

Decent food with interesting atmosphere & decor. Nice party rooms that can hold 13 people. Scalloped potatoes were my favorite & the asparagus. The fish and meats were good, but a bit too salty for me. I’d like a bit more sprinkles or fresh greens on the plate to cut down on saltiness.

They have complementary valet parking so even if you don’t find a spot it’s easy enough. I went for Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. I had the steak and eggs and finished everything on my plate. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. They have two dollar mimosas for those of you that are interested on Sundays until 3.

This unique restaurant has it all - easy valet parking, friendly hostess, fantastic food and fabulous server (Izzy was amazing). Went with a small group so we got to try the duck gumbo, wild game mixed grill, antelope loin, pan seared redfish and lodge rolls. Everything was delicious, wasn’t gamey, and was fun to taste new things. Izzy checked on us and made sure we had drinks, answered all our questions, and he turned the dinner into an experience. I can’t wait to go back and try more things!

Grace's on Kirby is a popular spot in Houston known for its spacious interior and innovative upscale American cuisine. The restaurant offers a variety of fried chicken options, including Randi's Fried Chicken and Chicken Fried Chicken with cream gravy and mashed potatoes. The quality of the food is exceptional, and the prices are reasonable. While there may be a wait for seating, the attentive staff and valet parking make the experience enjoyable.
Grace's is an amazing spot that mixes home cooking with an upscale ambiance. Our waiter was super friendly & the service was fast. I recommend the $30 Josh Cellars Merlot as it paired extremely well with everything we ordered. The complimentary cornbread served prior to your main entree was so good! I ordered the chicken fried chicken and my husband ordered the pot roast - we thought both were delicious. I'm a Mac and cheese snob but found Grace's to be simple yet super good. Couldn't get enough of the broccoli or mashed potatoes. For dessert, we ordered the espresso martini & Godiva cocktail. It's rare for me to say this but the espresso martini was one of the best I ever had! Not too sweet but totally nailed the espresso flavor. I recommend this for a date night or just dining out with friends. Grace's feels upscale but not in an overwhelming way, making it perfect for a family dinner outing as well. Parking was a bit tricky but we were able to immediately get seated at 7pm on a Saturday night. If you're looking for great "home cooked" meals some place nice, Grace's is a perfect choice!

Grace’s has a great ambiance and was a wonderful place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Everyone from the host to the server and workers in general were polite and friendly. Service was quick, food was plentifully & delicious. I will definitely be coming back here again. This place has made my top 3 places to dine.

The steak frites—traditionally served as sliced but they served the steak here as a whole slab of ribeye and it was the most delicious steak I’ve ever had. I had to ask the waitress to double check that my order was correct because I’ve never seen steak frites served like this. But the medium rare cook on the steak was immaculate, it was perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy, and the compound butter was the bow on top. You wouldnt think to come here for a steak, but honestly the steak was better than even the ones at Taste of Texas. Additional things: I loved the atmosphere, and our waitress was super friendly. And the jalapeno cornbread appetizer is maybe the 2nd best cornbread I’ve ever had (#1 goes to This is It Soul Food’s cornbread)

We came here for brunch and it was nice :). Solid classic american brunch options. I got the chicken fried chicken biscuit with the jalapeno gravy on the side, my fiance got the southern fried pork chop and eggs, and the dessert version (smaller than breakfast size) bananas foster pancakes. The chicken was crispy, the biscuits were moist, and the potatoes that came with the pork chop were good. Portion was perfect. We really liked the pancakes because they weren't too sweet/heavy. There wasn't anything not to like, and the service was great. Oh and the cornbread was amazing!

Alan has World Class Customer Service. Very polite and listens to your order. Made a great suggestion on the Specials of the Day. We ordered the beef tips and rice and had a side black eye peas that are absolutely delicious. We came hungry but left extremely full. The food is so good if I was RICH I would tip all the cooks in the kitchen $1,000.00 each. Yes each that is how good no let me rephrase that. That is how Great and Awesome the food and service is. This is my husband and I second time here and we are very thankful someone hires the right staff. We were greeted walking in and the rest was outstanding.

Gracie's is a delightful Southern restaurant with a fabulous ambiance. The food was exceptional; I enjoyed the chicken and waffles, while my children had grilled cheese, and my husband loved the pancakes. Everything was delicious, and the collard greens were a must-try! This is very kids friendly place. We made a reservation, which helped us avoid a long wait. Our waitress was attentive, adding to the great experience. I highly recommend Gracie's for a wonderful Sunday brunch—it's a hidden gem worth visiting!

Grace's is usually a must stop by for me each time I visit Houston. The atmosphere, food ,and service is always on point. I'm usually seating at the bar in their private room up front. Ttevon, one of the Bartenders is always so up beat and happy. He is a true asset to the establishment. My favorite menu items are the ,American breakfast, chicken & waffles, and their gumbo & cornbread. Make it your business to stop by, rather it's for early breakfast or a late brunch, you won't be disappointed.

Damian's Cucina Italiana is a renowned Italian restaurant that has been a staple for over 30 years, offering an authentic and rich dining experience. The establishment boasts an upscale, old-world setting that appeals to a diverse clientele, from movie stars to all-stars. The menu at Damian's is extensive, featuring traditional Italian dishes such as bolognese and veal, along with a variety of salads, antipastos, fine meats, homemade pastas, and fresh seafood.
We come here for our anniversary every couple of years (I proposed to my wife here) and it has a very old school feel to it. It’s low lit and quiet and perfect for an intimate dinner.

Great food and drinks. We had a wonderful experience before our opening day attendance of the Cher musical at TUTS. We also love that Damian's offers shuttle service to the performance center.
Danna A — Google review
Damian's is a restaurant that will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was the location of the very first upscale dining experience I shared with my wife back in the late 90s. Recently, we decided to return to this cherished establishment, this time bringing our children along to share in the nostalgia and create new memories. Upon revisiting, we were pleased to discover that some aspects of the restaurant had remained consistent over the years. The pasta sauce was every bit as flavorful as we remembered, and the fresh bread accompanied by their signature dipping oil remained a delicious staple. However, there were a few key disappointments that detracted from our overall experience. Firstly, the service left something to be desired. We were forced to ask our waiter to check on our main course, as it had not arrived even 30 minutes after we had finished our appetizer. Moreover, when our food finally arrived, we were disheartened by the lack of attention to presentation. The spaghetti appeared to have been haphazardly plated, with little consideration for visual appeal. Our dissatisfaction extended to the preparation of the steak as well. While we had specifically requested a medium-rare cook, the steak arrived far too undercooked, bordering on raw. Consequently, we left nearly half of the steak uneaten, but the staff never inquired as to the reason for this. In summary, while it was a pleasure to revisit Damian's and reminisce about our past experiences there, the evening was far from perfect. For a dinner that cost more than $65 per person, we expected a higher level of service and attention to detail. Considering there were four of us and we only ordered three dishes, the overall experience left us feeling somewhat let down. Nonetheless, the nostalgic charm of Damian's remains a cherished memory, and we hope to see improvements perhaps by the team’s training should we decide to visit in the future.

Best Italian food my wife and I have had in years in Texas. We were in Houston on a business trip and she found this place on open table and it had over 5000 5 star reviews. Well the food stood up to the reviews and was even better. The service was top notch as well! Next time we are in Houston this is must goto place for us!

The portions are bigger than we thought they would be, and had amazing flavor. The only thing was that when asking which dish was recommended, the server mentioned to get the one dish with a side of meatballs. When I asked, if the servings were small or not? He mentioned getting both would be great. I told him I didn't want to eat a lot of meat, so how big was the pork serving. He said it was 8 0z. So I said, that that would be enough for me. He still continued to pressure me into getting the meatballs, which I didn't appreciate. I held my ground, but it was not a welcome experience when being served at a restaurant. The garlic bread was amazing! I know I will be dreaming about it! 😊

This restaurant was amazing! I visited with a friend for dinner for Houston restaurant week and was able to try multiple things from the menu. The lobster bisque was delicious, it had chunks of lobster in the bread bowl. I am not a huge fan of steak but it was highly recommended by the waiter so I tried it, and it was delicious! He told me about getting my steaks medium plus because I prefer not to have pink meat, LOL, and this has just brightened up my year! So good! It also came with spaghetti carbonara with pancetta, which was a little oily for my taste but it was still good. For dessert we got the multi layered brownie, and it was very decadent. Enough to share with two people. I really enjoyed this place the waiters were very nice, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend.

We went to this place since we have a dinner with our chancellor. This place is quite authentic, it brought me the vibes of 70s-80s. The food was nice, I have no problem with my food since my expectations went beyond. I asked for medium steak however later I changed my mind and ask them to change it to well done steak, they were happy to do so. My friend’s steak was rare?! even though she asked for medium. I was happy with the customer service.

The restaurant provides indoor dining with social distancing measures and COVID precautions. Guests can make reservations online or opt for curbside pickup or delivery through DoorDash. The restaurant boasts a comfortable and retro atmosphere with a deep passion for food and aims to create memorable experiences for diners.
State of Grace (5/5) delivered an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance is absolutely mesmerizing—elegant and refined with a true state-dinner feel. Service was impeccable throughout, striking the perfect balance between professional and warm. Every dish we had was amazing, thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. While the bread service was a bit delayed, the staff went above and beyond by offering a complimentary dessert as a gesture—and it was absolutely delicious. That kind of attention to detail really sets a place apart

While in Houston for my daughter's graduation we ate at several different restaurants. State of Grace was my absolute favorite. The fillet was one of the best I've ever eaten. The service was next level and thank you to Trinity and Elizabeth for taking such good care of my family. Your attitudes and attention to detail were amazing and made our visit amazing. Elizabeth, you were right I needed the spoon 🫡 the Texas Ball was incredible. I can't say enough how pleased we were to pick State of Grace to eat at out of all the great restaurants in Houston.

We celebrated my wife's birthday August 19,2025. The hostess was absolutely amazing. She seated us at an amazing table that provided us with a full view of the dining room we were seated in. Our server Cassaundra was very attentive. She explained the wine list, menu and offered us an excellent suggestion on our oyster selection. The blackened Red Fish was to die for. I highly recommend them with 5 Stars in every category.

My fiancée and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner, our server/waiter were awesome! Everything about our dinner experience was amazing, until we were standing by the front door so we could get a couple of sandwich cookies, as we stood waiting, a hostess came over and told us “if no one is in the front desk, and you want a cookie to use a napkin because that’s what they’re there for “. I was appalled that someone would assume we aren’t aware of the proper etiquette when it comes to using a “napkin “!

I went out to State of Grace to celebrate my birthday and I can’t say enough good things about the restaurant and experience. I had originally booked the chef tasting but was unable to due to me booking last minute. To make it up to me, the manager personally made sure that I was taken care of and even allowed for me to try some additional dishes that I did not order. My server took her time to explain the menus and give her personal recommendations which I really appreciated since I have never done fine dining before. I got the crab cake beignets, deviled eggs, blacked red fish, and the eggplant. They even treated me to the pecan ice cream dessert. Every single dish hit and I would get them all again. I highly recommend this restaurant and I appreciate that the staff went the extra mile to make my birthday special.

Went there for a business dinner. may be moderate noise. Quite enough to carry sensitive conversations. Drinks are fantastic.. vegetarian choices limited. I went for ravioli which was alright. Very attentive service and polite staff in general. Decor and atmosphere is upscale and suitable for high level business dinners.

Not we expected as fine dinning will serve deviled eggs and salad menus. And it goes big wide ranges of seafood towers over $100-$200. As pictures described it all, that’s mostly fine foods we ordered 😆

The atmosphere here is really great. The dining room is cozy, the furniture is very nice and the staff is really amazing. They were very attentive and helpful the entire time. We had dinner and I ordered the Steak Haché and my fiancée had the ravioli. The reason why I’m giving a three star for food is because we were a little underwhelmed with our choices. The ravioli was very sweet and the steak hache was tasty but it left more to be desired (it felt more just like a burger patty). However, upon learning that my fiancée did not like her ravioli, the staff promptly offered to make her a plate of Cacio e Pepe at no extra charge which was great! Maybe it was what we ordered, so don’t let this deter you from trying this place. I still recommend it! We’ll probably go back and try it again some time.

Great service! The food is good but I have tried better Mexican food. The atmosphere is great, there was 2 singers playing Spanish and English songs. I do think that this restaurant is some how overpriced, $24 for a Pambazo 🤯 $18 for Pozole 🧐 Automatic gratuitity for tables of 6 ppl (20%) Inside it was freezing cold. This are my opinions but go ahead and judge yourself 😉

I found out about this restaurant from Reddit. A lot of people were speaking highly about it on there so we decided to look it up. We were happy to see that high ratings on Google. We decided to go. The food was definitely as good as we expected based on the description on Google and Reddit. But we also were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance, the service and really everything about the entire experience. The posole was really good. Same with the guacamole, tacos campechanos, and the margarita de jamaica. We would definitely go back for the service and the food. The added bonus was the live music. There were two guitarists walking around to each table for song requests. Let me tell you, their guitar skills and singing was quite exceptional! We stayed at the restaurant longer that anticipated because we wanted to keep listening to the really good music. All in all, 10 out of 10. We are most definitely going back to try some more food and listen to some good music. If you are tired of the same ole tex-mex and looking for some really good mexican food, definitely come here! highly recommend Cuchara and can’t say enough great things about this fine establishment!

Huynh Restaurant is a family-owned establishment that serves homestyle Vietnamese cuisine, drawing inspiration from the owners' hometown of Quang Ngai in Central Vietnam. The menu features a variety of dishes, including vegetarian options such as Banh Cuon Tranh Tri and Dau Hu Xao Lan. The restaurant offers a cozy family environment with friendly staff who are helpful in guiding patrons through the menu.
Stopped in for dinner while in town for game, Huynh did not disappoint! We were served promptly and politely. I think every waiter touched our table at some point, including the owner, either dropping something off, picking up finished plates, or checking on us. Food was stellar, fresh and tasty, some of the best Vietnamese food I've had, and I have 30 years of exposure. The feeling that everyone working in the restaurant was working together as a team however, impacted my impression the most. I will definitely be back to enjoy another meal here.

A fantastic Vietnamese restaurant with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and genuinely friendly, helpful staff. The food was consistently flavorful and above average across the board. A great spot for authentic Vietnamese cuisine—I’ll definitely return next time I’m in town.

Huynh Restaurant delivers on flavor but fell short on service during our visit. We started with the fresh spring rolls with shrimp — oh my, they were light, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The peanut sauce had just the right kick of spice. For mains, I had the pho with ribeye beef. The portion was perfect, the broth amazingly fresh, and the beef was tender and flavorful. My wife ordered the vermicelli bowl with strip-fried lemongrass beef, which was fragrant, well-seasoned, and refreshing. Both dishes really impressed us. The downside was our waiter, Brian. He came across as rude and dismissive. When my wife asked about a Banh Mi, he replied, “This is not a sandwich shop.” On top of that, while I was deciding between pho and vermicelli, he made it seem like I didn’t know Vietnamese cuisine at all. Those kinds of comments felt unnecessary and unprofessional. Thankfully, the rest of the staff stepped in and saved the evening. They kept our drinks full, quickly fixed our spring roll order, and treated us warmly. Their attentiveness helped balance out the poor impression Brian left. The food here is absolutely worth coming back for, but I hope the service is more consistent across the board. — Mike “Big Chief” Hiatt Host of The Whiskey Trip Podcast

Stopped by for lunch with a friend on a Friday afternoon. She ordered the pan fried rice cake noodle dish with grilled chicken, beef, pork and seafood. I ordered the chargrilled beef short ribs with shrimp and fried egg over rice. My first time here but I was really impressed with the food! The ribs are seasoned well and there’s a hint of lemongrass in the dish. I tried my friend’s dish and it tasted even better than mine. I definitely think the Hu Tieu rice noodles are the most popular menu items. We arrived around 1:30pm and the dining room was filled to the brim with patrons. Service is attentive nothing to complain about. Parking is a real struggle here, there are very few spots available in front.

Well thought out and flavorful dishes, and very attentive service. I also really liked the tealight candles in creating a relaxing atmosphere, but I feel the grey walls are drab and clash.
Mike F — Google review
Food was relatively good, in my opinion I feel like I’ve had better pho at other places in Houston. We ordered grilled pork spring rolls, pho, and the Vietnamese flan. I had also asked for some dumplings in chicken broth as an appetizer but they never came so I didn’t bother asking for them anymore since the food got to the table pretty quick. The service of a place is something that makes me feel welcomed or feel comfortable eating. Something that I didn’t enjoy is that the servers rush you so much during your visit that you can’t even eat comfortably. I get the fact that they come and check on you to make sure everything is good but when you do it every 5 minutes from different servers is a little annoying. I would use a napkin and I’d put it to the side and they would come and get it right away. I had taken a break from finishing my pho when someone just comes and asks if I was done with my pho so at that point I was already bothered so I said yeah that’s fine. The food was good, the service to me is what is lacking. I get you want to sit as much people as possible and as fast as you can but don’t confuse good customer service with rushing your clients to get up as fast as they can.

Came here for a work lunch before noon and the restaurant was almost packed. This place has been around for more than 30 years at its current location, which was the original Chinatown in Houston before the area got gentrified. Got the bun mang vit, which means noodles , bamboo and duck. I usually get the Hieu Tieu but a colleague ordered for me and didn’t disappoint. The duck was moist and came with a sweet ginger dipping sauce.

JINYA Ramen Bar - Midtown is a popular modern casual chain that offers a variety of Japanese dishes, with its main highlight being the tonkotsu ramen noodle soup. The menu features 12 to 14 different ramens at a time, with seasonal changes. Some popular choices include the Spicy Chicken Ramen and the Tonkotsu Black.
this jinya location is one of me and my boyfriends favorite late night dates. We’ve been coming here pretty consistently for about a year and a half now and we’ve always had a really great experience. The servers and hostesses have always been really nice. We become so frequent that they literally hit us with that welcome back or ask if we want what we usually get which could be kind of humbling at times because we come so much but it’s always been really great. The food is always fresh and the one time there was like a noodle mixup. They fixed it with literally no problem. And it doesn’t really matter how late you come so always get you in and out with fresh food. I 100% recommend it for a date night.

I had a wonderful visit to this bar! The atmosphere is really interesting—both beautiful and full of unique design elements. There’s a large communal table, perfect for bringing friends and enjoying a stylish gathering, while smaller tables along the sides make the space feel cozy and intimate. We had an awesome experience at Jinya. Olta welcomed me warmly, and Alp, our server, was amazing; friendly, attentive, and knew the menu inside out. The service and atmosphere made the visit feel special. Then came the food ; the Birria Ramen, Chicken Ramen, and Salmon Tacos. Everything was rich, balanced, and full of flavor. Perfect from start to finish. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was in town visiting my cousin and she brought us to Jinya for dinner. This was my first time here, and I really enjoyed - the ambiance, the customer service, and the food & drinks were great! Our waitress, Isabel, was so sweet and welcoming! And I learned that they have a location in Dallas near me, so I'll definitely be visiting there!

Mai's Restaurant is a renowned Vietnamese spot located in Midtown Houston, Texas. It has been serving traditional Vietnamese cuisine since 1978 and is considered an institution in the area. The restaurant offers a modern space with bamboo-accented decor and a full bar. It is known for its late-night eats, making it a popular choice after concerts or events.
I heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try. I ordered egg rolls and Bun Bo Hue soup. The egg rolls were fantastic, not only crunchy but delicious. The sauce they came with was perfect - it didn’t seem to be very sugary like they normally are. The soup was interesting - I haven’t had a one just like it before. It was nice to try. Would definitely be open to coming back here.

This place was popping back when I had it 20 years ago. I came back to see if it was the same. It was easy for us to find parking. The food was tasty. The presentation was good. Service was on point. And the restaurant was clean. We were there on a week day for lunch.

Mai’s is a classic Houston staple for a reason. The food is consistently flavorful, portions are generous, and the menu offers a great mix of traditional Vietnamese dishes and crowd-pleasers. The vibe is casual and the space is clean. Service was attentive. It’s a great place for both first-timers to Vietnamese cuisine and longtime fans. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Midtown and craving a solid, comforting meal.

I love their garlic beef w/mushrooms and broccoli 🥦! 😋 I also always oder separately the sauce that comes in their general tso chicken. It is so good with the peppers 🌶 when it's hot! I love this restaurant.

The food is delicious, perfectly suited to Vietnamese tastes—not too strong but well-balanced. The cocktails are also excellent, with many creative drinks that showcase the essence of Vietnam. The service is attentive and thoughtful.

Four of us for dinner. Got one of the 3 prized parking spots in front. Parking is a risk here due to area. Broken glass in both lots behind restaurant. However, it worked out for us. Haven’t been here in about 10 years. Used to eat here often when I lived in Houston and worked downtown. Still good, outstanding service!!

Giacomo's Cibo e Vino is a charming Italian restaurant located near River Oaks, offering a delightful mix of Venetian-style small plates for both lunch and dinner. Since its establishment in 2009, this cozy spot has won the hearts of many with its affordable prices and extensive menu featuring well-crafted trattoria-style Italian dishes, often highlighting flavors from Rome and Tuscany. The restaurant boasts an inviting atmosphere with a retro vibe, making it a popular choice among locals.
Let me start by saying that the service from Jennifer was absolutely stellar! This was some of the best service I have ever had at any restaurant period! She knows the menu, she knows the food and her personality is wonderful, she is warm, and inviting, we absolutely enjoyed our experience so much more because of her. Now for the food, what I can say is the food was so damn delicious!! All of her recommendations were spot on! We had the meatball rigatoni, the half moon pesto goat cheese ravioli, Brussel sprout salad, scallop polenta, a pesto garlic bread that was to die for and for dessert we had the chocolate tart, delicious wine ……PEOPLE I can’t explain how scrumptious this dinner was. We will definitely be regulars! Enjoy!!♥️

This is my favorite Italian restaurant. Everything I've tasted here is muah 💋 chef's kiss. I want to try everything they have. I've been here several times and want to keep coming back for more. The outside sitting is great if the weather is good, inside sitting is eh, parking is shit, but honestly I don't care because the food is all I need.

Overall good food with one caveat - miscommunication with hostess. I still think it is one of the best Italian restaurants in Houston. We were warmly greeted by an older gentleman outside after we parked. He kindly guided us through the gate and door, which I now realize was the back entrance. He asked if we preferred to dine inside or outside, and we chose to sit indoors. He then directed us inside, where we found a table and seated ourselves. After a few minutes, a woman from across the room approached and asked if we needed a table for three. Her tone felt a bit brisk and not particularly welcoming, and her smile seemed somewhat forced as she walked away. It became clear afterward that we may have entered through the wrong entrance and unintentionally bypassed the usual check-in process. As it was our first visit, we were unfamiliar with the layout, and the setup made it difficult to identify where the main entrance or waiting area was. We were about to stand up and walk towards her to ask where we could sit but the server said it was okay to stay. While I understand that it was a simple miscommunication, I do feel it could have been addressed with a bit more warmth and understanding. The interaction with the hostess did affect the atmosphere for me personally, although my husband wasn’t as bothered. We were there to celebrate our anniversary, and while the occasion itself was special, that initial experience left a less-than-ideal first impression. Our server, Jennifer, was awesome. I would still go back for the food and her welcoming presence.

First time here. Food is good. I don’t think of a true Italian food, but that is probably mostly due to ingredients here in America. We tried 3 pastas, there were all fine. I felt two of the. We’re missing some salt as well as the burrata which was an excellent combination with the arugula, but the actual cheese was a little bland. We found a hair in a chicken dish, they remade it and removed it from the the bill without us asking for it. Good attention there. Server felt quite pushy, good service but still a little “Italian “ without being Italian.

This restaurant was suggested to us by my daughter’s coworker, who is Italian. Overall, it was good. We made a reservation for 7:30 at the last minute! We had a short wait to be seated. It’s a really small restaurant with parking in back. A few handicapped spots in front. We started with wine and an appetizer. We had meatballs with bread. It was good. The sauce was a little sweet and a little spicy. Just right. The wine was wine. We both had Chianti Classico. I guess I’m not a fan of wine. For dinner, I chose Giovanni and my daughter picked Bolognese. I feel like the chicken was seasoned to perfection, but the rest fell flat. I didn’t expect the vegetables that were served in the dish. It was good though. I didn’t ask for salt. Thought that would’ve been rude. We got full pretty quickly. However, we saved room for dessert! I was in the mood for cake. I was hoping in my soul there would be tiramisu. There wasn’t. My soul cried. But instead I had the chocolate cake. It was rich. I had my server (who was excellent, by the way) pack up my Crostata Cremosa al Cioccolato in a box along with my dinner. My daughter ate/drank her dessert which was Affogato. We had a good time. I would return and I would recommend.

This place easily serves one of the best Italian meals you will find in Houston. We just got back from Italy before eating here, and this place is legit! The bolognese is the best you will find besides making it at home, and the carbonara is about as good as it gets outside of Rome too. Happy to have discovered this place closer to home!

Kim Son is a family-friendly restaurant that offers a wide variety of traditional Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. It is known for its extensive dim sum buffets, featuring nearly 50 small plates including fried bird nest shrimp ball, congee with meat, and pan-fried turnip cake. The restaurant has received national recognition for its legendary Vietnamese cuisine, with founder Kim Su Tran La bringing over 250 recipes from her homeland.
Absolutely delicious and authentic! Kim Son in downtown Houston never disappoints. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and attentive service. The menu offers a wide range of traditional Vietnamese and Chinese dishes, and everything we tried was packed with flavor. The dim sum is a must—fresh, hot, and beautifully prepared. I also highly recommend the salt & pepper shrimp and the pho, which had a rich, savory broth. Great portions, reasonable prices, and perfect for both casual lunches and special dinners. One of my go-to spots when craving Asian cuisine in Houston!

I have been a customer for years now. I have always loved the food, service and the atmosphere. The only upsetting thing about our last visit is, I stepped out for maybe 10 minutes to use the ladies room and the server approached my husband and says if you need help with English someone can help translate. Absolutely no need for that, yes he is Hispanic and you can tell by his skin tone but he can most definitely order his own food without assistance. It would be nice if you spoke to the customers first rather than being prejudice.

Kim Son has good Chinese and Vietnamese food. It’s just not great. The sesame chicken lacked flavor. The Singapore noodles were good but nothing special with the ittibitty shrimp. The lo-mein was actually the highlight! The fried rice that comes with the lunch is flavorless like most places but I did like the ginger addition.

My overall experience was okay here, we’ve been wanting to try it since we drive by constantly and we ordered a variety of food, crab Rangoon and a bowl of soup. The crab Rangoon had little to no filling I took a picture after a bite and had but a smidge of filling. Soup had good flavor but came out lukewarm. The entrees on the other hand were pretty decent. The service was good and the waitress was attentive at filling our drinks though

Awesome lunch at El Meson! Never had Fish Ceviche that good anywhere, prefect in every way!!! The Paella was also excellent . Best service by Ashley to top the great lunch! El Meson will be our family favorite spot in Rice Village!!

We stumbled upon this place for a late lunch and found a gem! It's a little pricey, but the food is high end, well made and the portions are huge so you absolutely get what you pay for. Ashley was so accommodating and made great suggestions. The wine list is EXCELLENT and reasonable. The food is made with love, the ambiance is cozy, I couldn't ask for more. This is definitely the first of many more visits for us.

Great food, Great service, Great Atmosphere. It was our first time visiting and we asked Ashley for her recommendation. She recommended the Palomilla platter which I shared with my wife. The kitchen split the plate in half and gave us our own sides. The beef was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The dish is served with white rice, black beans and a side of fried plantains. I ate a home cooked meal today.

What an unexpected nugget we found today! We originally left the hospital heading to Shake Shack, but waiting in traffic turned our attention to this elegant little place, so we pulled in to try it. The parking is super convenient, directly located outside the door. This is a must mention as places in this area are not always easy to park in/find parking. It was mid day after the lunch rush, so that possibly helped us. Tapas, TexMex, Cuban, Latin flare, they have it all! I was super impressed with the decor of this restaurant. Just walking to the doors, you step into a small little Latin world on their pretty patio. Upon entering the doors, there is a wall of crawling ivy that is simply stunning. I love my ivy plants, so this was immediately impressive. We were warmly greeted and seated in a lovely large booth. A Giara (flip-top swing stopper) bottle with water was brought to our table. I thought that was a nice touch. So much more elegant than a regular glass of water. The music playing set the tone for a little Havana scene. You really feel the atmosphere! Our server was excellent. He provided several suggestions on popular items. I ordered the cheese enchilada dinner and my aunt ordered the Tacos al Carbone. We contemplated getting tapas, but decided to keep it with TexMex. Our meal was delicious! Presentation was nice, everything was cooked well, the seasoning was on point, and the portions are a nice size. I was very impressed with our entire experience. I still can’t say enough about the restaurant decor. Everything was top-notch and detailed. Even the table settings were detailed and elegant. I love the ambiance. Though we stopped in for a late lunch wearing our capri pants and flip flops, I can see this place also being a great date night spot. It’s on the finer side of Spanish restaurants, but still cozy and comfortable to be dressed down. Very impressed! Our total for 2 meals and one glass of wine before tip was $68.00. Highly recommend.

Best Chinese food in the area. Steamed chicken dumplings with fresh ginger in oil and the dumpling sauce, egg drop soup, and cold soft spring rolls are fabulous. Moved outside the 610 Loop in 2017 and haven't found Chinese food that matches Auntie Changs. Their lunch selections and family dinners are very reasonably priced with a great selection of options.

A little dated interior. Had some parking out front which was nice. Good drinks. Got a good assortment of tapas. All pretty good. Didn’t take picture because it was a work dinner. Got one of the seafood paella which I liked. Wish the rice was crispy though. The staff was attentive and friendly. If you’re craving Spanish tapas I’d give this a try.

El meson rest was on my list to visit and I’m glad my friend agreed. Valet personnel was very attentive and generous. Quickly welcomed and seated. Promptly greeted by Olivia our server. Food was very very good. Even when server set the expectations about the wait time for paella it came on decent amount of time. Portion was generous, definitely serve more than 2. Everything was delicious.

This was my second time coming to El Meson and it certainly won’t be my last. The tapas are all exceptional and pack a lot of flavor with each bite. This restaurant serves Spanish food and has an amazing wine list. The quality of the food is outstanding and you can tell they take the time to make it right. We had the paella El meson and it was delicious. I like the rice to be a little more dry it was served a little on the wet side but the flavor and shellfish were on point. The bacons wrapped dates are a healthier option as a dessert and were delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try more of this menu! The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is very clean.

Mala Sichuan Bistro is a highly acclaimed Sichuan restaurant with five locations in Houston, including Chinatown, the Heights, Montrose, Katy, and Sugar Land. The restaurant offers traditional and adventurous Sichuan Chinese food in a basic setting. It has gained a loyal following for its dishes like Water-boiled Fish, Red Oil Wontons, and Spicy Crispy Chicken.
I’ve been to their other location in Katy but for some reasons the food here is better. The interior is kind of outdated and they don’t have as large of a seating area compared to Katy. The boiled fish is probably my favorite. Second favorite are the sautéed lotus root and mapo tofu.
Quynh N — Google review
Somewhat authentic Sichuan food, and not shy of the spiciness. The avocado charred pepper salad was a big surprise to me, it’s such a creative combination but made some much sense, very cream and savory. The flavor of spicy crispy chicken and the twice cooked pork were good and balanced. But the pork could be prepared better, can still taste a bit of the pork gamey taste. Also the chicken could be better quality.
Krystal L — Google review
Upon entering, it had a hudden gem mom and pop feel. The food came out very quickly. I had the house made plum juice, brown sugar sweet rice cakes and the spicy boiled fish with a side of rice. The spicy boiled fish has Sichuan in it. It gave me a electric, fuzzy feeling while I ate it. For me I have a low tolerance and I gained an adrenaline boost. So I didn't like the feeling, but I know that there's a lot of people who enjoy that feeling. The food was still great it's just was a little too spicy for me... But it makes sense since I got a spicy dish. The atmosphere was fairly noisy considering that there were some groups in the main seating area. There are 2 private party rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My waitir knew how to answer all my questions and aided me and deciding between which dishes I wanted to try. He was very knowledgeable. The lady who brought out my dishes was very kind and attentive. (Sorry in advance I didn't get their names). For one person, I spent $30. Worth a try if you like spicy food.

Great spot in Houston’s Chinatown! Loved the Water-Boiled Fish with Tofu spicy, numbing, full of flavor. Bacon-Wrapped Cucumbers were crispy and addictive. Fried Pork Intestine was crunchy but needed more spice. Cucumber Salad was fresh and perfect to cool the heat. Service was fast, vibe was cozy. Parking’s tight but worth it. Solid Sichuan, will be back!

A group of coworkers and I dined here for lunch and asked the staff to pick a few of the most popular items. We tried the dry pot mixed vegetables, spicy and crispy chicken and several other dishes. They were all absolutely incredible, the spice levels are just right and all dishes are authentic. Can't wait to return with family and friends another time.

I placed an order for delivery. The food arrived quickly and still very hot (temperature). The Ants in the Tree was ok. Almost no flavor or spice. The eggplant was amazing and when I mised it with the noodles, it made them flavorful. The hot and sour oup was also just ok. Very little tofu/mushrooms etc in the soup. Mostly broth. I didn't take pictures, it went to fast. This is the leftover soup I had for lunch. The food looked amazing on "Eat Like a Local". Not as much in person.

We ordered the water boiled fish filet, cumin beef, spicy crispy chicken, garlic eggplant, spicy combo fried rice, reg combo fried rice and THEY WERE ALL SO DELICIOUS! The dishes were shared among 4 people and it was more than enough food with left overs. Cannot recommend this place enough and I can’t wait to return!
Gayashi W — Google review
I was very disappointed with Mala Sichuan Bistro. Full stop. I ordered a few dishes for takeout after poring over their large menu and decided on: Jiggling Pork Belly - it was not very good. The pork was dry, not jiggly at all. The liquid that it came in was so watered down it had no flavor at all. The portion was much smaller than what they show in their pictures. Couples Lung Slices - this dish was very flavorful, albeit on the salty side. I had to eat it with rice (normally when I order this at other places I can eat it by itself). Once again, the portion was very small. Not even close to what their picture shows. Dry Fried Pork Intestines - this is one of my favorite items to order at a Sichuan restaurant. Unfortunately this one missed the mark. The intestines tasted like they weren't cleaned thoroughly. It had that overwhelming offal flavor and aroma that is normally cleaned and cooked out. This place cuts theirs really thick and it's undercooked (see pictures/video). The seasoning was good though and the portion size was better than the other dishes. House Special Funky Cold Noodles - for starters, I ordered extra sauce and they did not give that. The flavor of this dish was good, but why it's called "funky" I am confused. I like funky flavors so I was expecting a stronger flavor. I was expecting a dish like Liang Pi but this was not it. The noodles were on the dry side and I had to scrape them on the bottom of the container to get any flavor on them. Once again, the portion size was lacking. I don't know if it's because I got takeout but I feel like I was jipped with the amount of food I got for $50+ dollars. The pictures of the food on the restaurant plates look bigger so maybe you get more food if you eat there. Look at the pics/videos, I come with receipts. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so one would assume the food should be cooked properly since they aren't slammed. Not so. Also, I ordered utensils since I'm staying at a hotel for work and I didn't get those, so I had to scour the area for utensils. That was not cool. Overall I would not go here again. There is a wealth of Chinese and Asian places in the area. You have to bring your A game every time and maybe they had an off night but I was very disappointed and wished I had gone to any of the other places around.

Christie's Seafood & Steaks is a long-standing Gulf Coast restaurant with a charming nautical theme that has been serving homestyle seafood since 1917. Originally gaining popularity for its fried fish sandwiches, the establishment moved to Houston in 1934 and has been delighting patrons with an expanded menu of fresh Gulf catches, shrimp sandwiches, baked oysters, strip sirloin steaks, and more.
Went with my mom and roommate for dinner everything was fantastic. Christie's has been around forever and has always been consistent quality. Everything was great. I had the the salmon and it was fresh and flavorful. Roommate scarfed down his blackened catfish and mom enjoyed her gumbo and fried shrimp. The owner was there and was super sweet and talked to my mom about her friends recent passing. My mom's friend loved Christie's and we made sure to have a ceremonial spot for her at dinner. Was a great experience with family and the atmosphere was perfect! 5 stars check it out!

What a wonderful experience. We had my little sister’s engagement party here. The staff, the food, drinks, and setup were all top notch. Loved everything about the banquet room. Historic, friendly, professional, delicious. I needed a break from BBQ, so researched some of the oldest restaurants in Houston and found Christie’s. What a pleasant experience! It’s an old school, full service seafood restaurant your parents and grandparents would’ve gone to and been happy to take you. The service is friendly and efficient providing instant comfort. I never felt rushed nor as if I were just another customer to turn. That’s refreshing in this era.

This was FANTASTIC! We are visiting from San Antonio and came upon Christie’s on Google Maps. I would describe the ambience as old-school classy. The prices were great, especially for the upscale food. Our salads were fresh, crisp and came with homemade dressing. My shrimp Santorini was amazing! Plenty of shrimp, perfectly cooked with a wonderful sauce. The Gulf Snapper Fillet Greek Style was lovely, and the Potatoes Au Gratin was great! We can’t wait to come back and try the fried shrimp.

Christie’s Seafood & Steaks is a true Houston institution—it’s actually the city’s oldest restaurant, originally founded in 1917 by a first-generation immigrant from Greece. In 1955, the current family owners came to the U.S. and formed a strong bond with Mr. Christie. Eventually, the restaurant was passed on to them, with one unique condition: the new owner had to adopt the Christie name. The history here runs deep, and the family behind it is just as remarkable. If you’re visiting Houston, this place is a must. And whatever you do, don’t miss the crab balls—they’re unforgettable.

Pho Saigon is a popular Vietnamese eatery located in Houston, known for its delicious beef noodle soups and classic Vietnamese dishes. Run by Phuong Tran and his wife Rosie, the restaurant has gained a reputation for its authentic flavors and homemade meat and bone broth. The pho tai, a beef noodle soup with rare beef, is a crowd favorite. Despite being busy most nights, solo diners can usually find a table quickly due to the fast turnover.
Came in for lunch and were seated immediately. Appetizers came out quickly, and the phô soon after. All of the food was fantastic! Very flavorful, and the broth was not sweet like some variations. I was impressed with all of the options on the menu. There are a few things that most other Vietnamese establishments do not offer in the states. I wish I had tried one of them but we were in the mood for phô. I did not like that the water came in metallic cups, but that detail is negligible.

This is my go to pho spot, if you need a quick cozy meal, this place is always the best with it. I swear it takes two minutes between ordering and actually receiving the food. It’s always super quick and always super good even if you’re ordering on Uber eats

I stopped here for lunch while visiting Houston since it was on my list of olaces to visit. It was DELICIOUS! The portions were great and the price point is perfect. There were lots of vegetarian options so I didn't have to leave feeling underwhelmed. I love the ambiance of a small business which hardworking, friendly people. Definitely stop by if you can!

Best pho in Houston hands down. If I could ask for a keg of their broth, I would buy it. I come here to get pho even when it’s hot outside. I order it for my gf when she’s sick and it heals her.

Cajun restaurant

Noodle shop
Crawfish & Noodles is a contemporary restaurant in Houston's Asiatown, known for its delicious Vietnamese and Cajun cuisine. The chef-owner, Trong Nguyen, has gained national attention and received James Beard Award nominations. The restaurant's specialty is the spicy Viet-Cajun-style crawfish, which is a must-try during crawfish season. Other popular dishes include stir-fried blue crab, chicken wings, and bo luc lac (stir-fried beef with rice).
Loved the crawfish but wasn’t a fan of the appetizers (salt and pepper wings/calamari) that we got. I requested another side of the sauce for the crawfish and I’d highly recommend doing the same. If you’re looking for a non-seafood item the shaken beef is fantastic. The egg fried rice is delicious and the beef is nicely cooked on the outside with the perfect chew on the inside.
Vinaya — Google review
**The Good:** - The **crawfish** were fantastic—fresh, plump, and meaty, with great flavor. Very satisfying! - The seasoning and cooking style were on point. **The Bad:** - The **oysters** were disappointing—many shells had very little meat, and they weren’t as plump as expected. - Service was just **average**—nothing particularly friendly or attentive, but not rude either.

Crawfish and Noodles never disappoints. The food here hits every time. The turkey neck was tender and full of flavor, with fresh cilantro and onions that made it even better. The shrimp in tamarind sauce was the star of the night — perfectly cooked with that sweet and tangy kick that keeps you wanting more. The basil fried rice was super fragrant and packed with flavor, a perfect combo with the other dishes. Service was quick and friendly, and the vibe is always relaxed and welcoming. If you’re craving bold Vietnamese flavors with a Cajun twist, this spot is a must try.

Excellent food. Amazing service. Great atmosphere. The standards are all there for you to see. Visited outside of crawfish season so I didn't have a chance to try out the main dish but everything else left such an impression that I just can't wait to come back again. My most favorite so far, I'd say, the wings and the shaking beef fried rice. The rest will be soon further explored. Staff was tremendously helpful and welcoming, and the atmosphere is extraordinary. Great decor, plenty of space, a wonderful destination for family and business meals, and a must-try foodie spot for travelers and locals alike. Highly recommended!

They are closed on Tuesdays. Came during lunch on a Wed to sample the specials they had running. Salt Toasted, Tamarind, and Viet Cajun which is their signature seasoning. The Shrimp were a decent size, but more importantly they were gulf brown shrimp, which they source locally. Flavors were on point and it was a great value since they were on special. Cory was our chef today he did not disappoint, flavors were perfectly balanced without being salty. Sauces are so good, they can be eaten with just plain white rice .Servers were very attentive without being overbearing. Will be back again to sample their other specials. Always glad to support local business, and even better that they are UH grad, go coogs 🤟

My wife and I finally tried a restaurant in a Vietnamese strip center that we'd been eyeing for a while. Overall, the experience was decent. The food came out hot and fresh, with generous portions that definitely didn't disappoint. The decor inside was elegant and inviting, creating a nice dining atmosphere. The parking lot was also clean and well-kept, which added to the first impression. The restroom, while mostly clean, could've used a bit more attention. It wasn't dirty--just not quite as tidy as the rest of the place. As for the food, it was good--flavors were solid--but it wasn't particularly memorable or exciting. For the price, I was hoping for something a little more "wow." Still, it's a place I'd consider going back to, especially for a relaxed meal. Verdict: A nice spot with good food and ambiance, but not quite a standout. Worth a visit, but expect slightly higher prices for a fairly average experience.

If you love seafood this place is about must. The deep fried crab are amazing. Everything is fresh here and they keep the place clean!

Viet Cajun is so good. The spice level is actually spicy and not generic and mild. The prices are reasonable, too for a seafood place. As someone who cooks for myself, and cooks very well, primarily Cajun and Asian dishes, its very rare that I enjoy other people's Cajun food. This is one of those places that I would not only eat again and again, but I made it a point to visit this place a year later. Its just as good and I can't recommend it enough. The view from the windows bland, that's really my only complaint.

Cajun restaurant
Eunice is a chic and elegant restaurant located in the Upper Kirby neighborhood of Houston, Texas. The upscale eatery offers seasonally inspired Cajun-Creole fare and cocktails in a sophisticated setting with large windows. Named after chef Drake Leonard's hometown in Louisiana, Eunice showcases the best seafood dishes in town, with shrimp taking the spotlight on the menu. Dishes like dan dan shrimp and buttery shrimp and grits topped with roasted cherry tomatoes are highly recommended.
I came here with my Mom and sister to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. I’ve always passed by Eunice but for some reason had never been. So glad we came! The food was delicious and the restaurant had a fabulous vibe. Eunice probably has the best wait staff I’ve ever experienced. Our waiter Thieu, was amazingly attentive and really elevated our dining experience! We will for sure be back.

We went for an early Mother's Day celebration. Our waitress Ashley did a great job; unfortunately, the food was not what we remembered from our first brunch visit a few years ago. Each plate was saturated with grease, which took away from the depth of flavor. Ashley brought us a new bowl of shrimp and grits, which we appreciated, but food missed the mark.
Joseph H — Google review
What a wonderful restaurant! Came here to enjoy Cajun style cooking and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is amazing and very romantic. When you leave the parking garage there is a beautiful oak tree at the front of the restaurant. Don't forget your parking validation if you self park. We had an amazing meal with delicious flavors. Cornbread - must do! It's delicious and more like a dessert. Big enough to take some home. Tuna tartare - wouldn't order again. Felt like it was more watermelon than tuna. Not worth it Chicken liver mousse - this was delicious! The flavor was rich with a delicious jam on top. The bread that came with it was also yummy. Gumbo - delicious 👏 Bistro filet - for a non steakhouse, the quality was surprisingly awesome. The flavor of the sauce and mushrooms was amazing. Potatoes were great. It's a gem in the city and I highly suggest checking it out for a romantic date.

Our experience here was top notch from the beginning to the end. The greeting from valet to our waitress was amazing. Our waitress was attentive without hovering, very knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on. We started with the raw oysters which were on sale during happy hour. They were the perfect size, very sweet and so fresh. Shucked right after we ordered them. Then we ate off the appetizer menu. The Dan Dan shrimp were tempura fried to perfection; the cornmeal fried oysters were served with a delicious sauce and the brussel sprouts were a little sweet and the crispy apple slices were a perfect pairing. I didn’t take a picture but I had the bread pudding and it was as close to my former mother in laws as I can remember. Highly recommend this place.
Missy M — Google review
Great atmosphere, good food. The prices do seem a bit high for the quality/portion, and some of the dishes felt a little off (the shrimp étouffée was fine, but not particularly flavorful, and I don't typically expect fried shrimp?). I also didn't appreciate the pushier service to take away plates before finishing. Definitely not in line with the price point. The gulf oysters were good.

I came here with three others on a Saturday for brunch/lunch in early February on a mild and sunny day. I was visiting Houston for the weekend from New York. A friend made the reservation a few days in advance but I don’t think one was needed as the restaurant was nearly empty. I honestly was not expecting to like this restaurant as I thought the emptiness was a sign of something; however, I really liked it! I really do not enjoy brunch and I was pleased to see their menu wasn’t filled with many boring brunch items. The server was really great and engaging (it probably helped that the restaurant had such few people dining). The food was really delicious and I loved the fusion element of the menu. We ordered multiple appetizers, each person had an entree as well as three drinks. Our bill came to about $125 per person. If I lived in Houston, I would go back to this restaurant and I would recommend.
David H — Google review
I came here off a recommendation with hesitation but it was actually really good. Creole food isn’t a cuisine that I generally lean towards but I felt like our guests would appreciate the flavor. The cornbread was dangerously delicious and the homemade pasta was perfectly al dente. Kate did a wonderful job making suggestions and giving enough information to make educated decisions based on each individual preference. It was super helpful it picking such a great spread. Here’s the things I would recommend from what we ordered: -Cornbread -Crawfish etoufee with homemade pasta -Red Snapper (topped with delicious “seafood crumble”) -Charred broccolini (FANTASTIC!) I wish I would have tried the bread pudding with coffee so someone else review it and message me.
Vinaya — Google review
Ashley was an awesome server and I really enjoyed her. The Charred Broccolini was very delicious and had a good crunch. The St Landry Sidecar was so well mixed I had three. The corn bread was very good and was a good portion to share for three people. The duck poppers were good but super small. The gumbo was not my favorite and I sent it back. Love a dark roux but it was burnt, lacked spice and needed a tad bit of salt. Only ordered the gumbo because it was highly recommended. Loved the bar layout and huge dimly lit lights which made the ambiance nice and cozy.

Molina's Cantina is a cherished gem in Houston's culinary scene, proudly serving up authentic Mexican cuisine since 1941. This family-run establishment has become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, known for its vibrant atmosphere and mouthwatering dishes. One standout item on the menu is their sopa de poblano, made from roasted poblanos blended with heavy cream and smoky jalapeno sausage—a true delight!

My friend and I meet up here every few weeks for fabulous food and drink. The huge selection of refreshing margaritas is amazing. I personally love the frozen margarita with a sangria swirl. The service is consistently excellent and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. We usually eat in the bar area where the seating is very comfortable. The queso is addicting and the fajitas are delicious and cooked to perfection. I believe we’ve tried every type of fajita on the menu and they never disappoint. It is such a treat to come spend an evening enjoying this terrific restaurant.

We have visited a couple times now and really have enjoyed their food overall. Trying to eat keto, I ordered the Salmon special without rice and it was delicious with grilled veggies and salmon cooked perfectly. We also had the steak fajitas and my husband really enjoyed those as well. Service was quick and attentive. Parking can be limited but we lucked out this time. We will be back next time we’re in this part of Houston.

I had Molina's flagged as a place to try since it was perhaps Houston's oldest family-run Tex-Mex restaurant. I'm so glad we did. It's a beautiful restaurant. I was impressed from the moment we opened the door. It was between lunch and dinner time. Lunch menu and happy hour continued until 4pm. The portions were very generous for lunch. I had carnitas. They were perfect. Very tender and tasty with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. I had both a House and Premium Margarita to go along with everything. I also tasted a Blackberry Margarita and a Mango Margarita. They're doing it right at Molina's. We'll certainly go back when in the area. Oh! I almost forgot. Free pralines with the check. So good! What a great experience all around.

Great little intimate cantina to pop into when it’s been one of those weeks! The beef fajita nachos were delicious and filling. The bartender and servers all provided excellent customer service.
Cynthia J — Google review
Disappointed- Molina’s Cantina had been on my Bucket List for a while now. (We don’t live close.) Tonight we went for a nice family dinner, ordered Margaritas all around, each took one sip and recognized something was off. The beverage professional (bartender) at our table asked the server if the margaritas were batch-prepared-they are and we suggested he speak to the bartender and bring us one re-made drink. He offered us other choices but that was not what we wanted. Very surprised that a manager or bartender did not come to our table to resolve the problem after we sent all 4 drinks back. Restaurant was reasonably busy but not crazy crowded. The food was very good, not drive across town good but in no way disappointing, but we won’t be back. We really tried to give the restaurant the opportunity to fix the problem but they took the drinks off the bill and we had our margaritas at home.

Soma Sushi, located in the Washington Corridor neighborhood, offers a sophisticated and glamorous setting for enjoying innovative rolls and French-Japanese fusion entrees. The restaurant provides a bougie environment with an opulent bar where you can savor a variety of ramen options. Wow, TLDR: Come here, you won’t regret it! We came a few weeks ago; literally traveled to Houston from Austin w the intention of eating good food, and this place didn’t disappoint! Outside looks a bit rough, but my goodness. Don’t let it deter you! Inside is modern, sleek and spacious! The girls up front were friendly both over the phone and when we arrived. We were seated promptly and our server was Michelle. She was super cool, very knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations and was really attentive. The food was outstanding and came with great timing. The price point is so good, we couldn’t help but order a ton 🤤 My husband and I have been raving about this place ever since and recommend all of our friends to go. My crappy pictures honestly don’t do it justice. We also ordered a lot more, but couldn’t wait to eat it 😅 Give it a try!! And order all the things.

For the main dish, the rice bowl topped with sautéed vegetables, beef, and a sunny-side-up egg was pure comfort in a bowl, savory, satisfying, and full of umami. The service was polite and paced just right, letting us enjoy our time without feeling rushed. The attention to detail, from the plating to the table setup, really elevated the experience.

Went for dinner with wife. Menu had many fusion sushi roll items that were reasonably prices. Ordered two different rolls (beef and tuna) that were both good. Also ordered the sashimi bowl that had ten different raw seafood that includes more common fish and less common sashimi such as kinmedai and halibut. The sashimi also came with freshly grated real wasabi which was a great surprise. Highly recommended for folks looking both to enjoy some interesting sushi rolls and folks looking to find a variety of high quality sushi and sashimi near the Heights.

We had an amazing experience at Phat Eatery! The food was absolutely delicious — a perfect mix of bold, authentic Thai flavors. Delicious Malaysian restaurant, fast service, clean interior, friendly staff and delicious meals. The flavors are deep and fresh. Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. Still looking for the 5 Star. 5 Stars: Top of their game. Great food. Great service. Would recommend and plan on returning.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Every aspect of my experience at Phat Eatery was phenomenal. The food quality is top notch, packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The customer service was just as impressive, warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout. Portions were generous too, which is always a plus. This was easily one of my best food experiences out there. Tbh I was disappointed with the rendang, I thought it was lacking in flavor although it had the right texture and not some overly soft beef cubes. The chicken itself was ok but I have had better elsewhere in dallas and vegas. The chicken rice was also too dry for my taste and the coloring was too fierce

Restaurant
Bludorn, located in Montrose and named after Chef Aaron Bludorn, has become one of Houston's top culinary destinations. The restaurant offers a fashionable setting to enjoy cocktails, wine, and seasonal French-inspired New American cuisine.
I went to Bludorn on a Friday night for a birthday dinner and the experience surpassed all expectations. The food was intentional, unique, beautiful and delicious! The ambiance was warm and intimate. Not too loud so you could still hear people talk without having to shout. The best part that made everything tie together was the amazing, impeccable SERVICE! Our wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. They always came at the right time and were super helpful/ thoughtful to make the birthday celebration special. They explained things well, gave recommendations, and never made us feel rushed. We had a great time. 1000% would recommend Bludorn!!!

I just want to say that this is the place to go when you want exquisite food, exceptional service and experience a true fine dining vibe. Ladies night was a hit and I'm sure we tried half the menu. From the fresh bread with herb butter and delectable squash blossoms to the smoky ravioli along side the beets and creamed spinach all were just what our palates needed. Everything was flavorful and the dishes were thoughtfully plated and opened our minds to new flavor combinations. The drinks and dessert were the icing on this wonderful night out with friends. The only thing better than the food was the service. Every one was knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. It was an experience worth every penny spent. I recommend Bludorn for any occasion.

The vibe sitting outside away from the noise of inside was amazing given the weather!! Service was spot on. Very attentive without being overly attending. The food was delicious and my husbands steak was cooked to perfection. The prefix menu was nice and offered a good selection! My only complaints were that the whipped cream on my dessert was salted. Made everything taste just not great. The cake/curd itself was amazing. The collards were also so salted I couldn’t even eat them.
Gibby — Google review
First off, I’d like to commend the restaurant for its delicious menu, particularly the smoked oysters and the oysters with bacon and spinach. They were absolutely fantastic, and I was thoroughly impressed with the culinary offerings. However, I did have an unfortunate experience at the bar, which affected my overall impression of my visit. After enjoying an espresso martini, the bartender informed me that I would no longer be served. I appreciate the need for responsibility, but I felt that the decision was made hastily and without understanding. I was having a great time, just being my naturally happy and loud self, and definitely wasn’t intoxicated. I felt that the bartender could have addressed the situation with more empathy and courtesy. Being approached in a manner that felt dismissive was disappointing, especially since my intention was to enjoy a good time with friends in the lively atmosphere your restaurant provides. I truly enjoyed the food, and it was a shame that this incident clouded an otherwise great experience. Perhaps additional training for staff on how to gauge intoxication and engage with customers in a more positive manner could prevent future misunderstandings. I don’t think I’ll ever return.

Its a beautiful restaurant with great service. We came for brunch and ordered a few things. The oysters were delicious, my partner got the steak and eggs which he said was average..mostly because he felt the steak could be seasoned be. The short rib ravioli was not bad though a tad salty for my taste. We may come back to try their dinner menu another time but it was a bit underwhelming.

Just had the most amazing dinner at Bludorn. The oysters were incredible and so fresh. The wine was absolutely perfect with every course. We had the red snapper and each flavor was a blast of incredible that I honestly can’t even explain. We finished with the Baked Alaska and the nitro carajillo, and it was the perfect ending to one of the best meals we’ve ever had. After 25 years in Houston, I think this might be the best dining experience we’ve had in the city. Support local businesses and go try this place. Bludorn is easily one of the best restaurants in the country.

The interior boasts a contemporary and industrial design, providing a stylish setting for enjoying classic Chinese dishes served family-style. Specializing in fresh and light xiao long bao, this Shanghainese spot also offers colorful dumplings and puffy crispy-bottom bao with its own unique flair.
I found this place through a TikTok video, and honestly, I loved the food. They serve Chinese cuisine — their specialty is dumplings, but they also have other dishes. We ordered two orders of chicken filling soup dumplings and one order of spicy crispy chicken popcorn. Honestly, everything was delicious, and the service was excellent. I give it a solid 10 out of 10.

I don't know where to start. The waiters sitting and staring at their phone, the hostess who couldn't be more bothered that we interrupted her scrolling, or the food that made me go home to drink detox tea? We were hoping for a hit, but underwhelming would be an understatement. The vibe was dull. The food quality was poor. We barely ate. We both took one bite of the dumplings and were very turned off. While the waiters were friendly enough, their boredom really set the tone. Please listen to the critical reviews sprinkled in here... take your money elsewhere for a quality experience. This eatery presents itself as worthy, but it's not it.

Was in the area and was finally able to try out Wanna Bao. Glad we stopped in to check out this wonderful place. Service was great, helpful, and prompt. As we were first timers, asked questions and our server made great suggestions. While the red oil dumpling was a miss for me while hot. Once I got home, the flavors really came to life after sitting and cooling off. Reabsorbing all those wonderful flavors. The chicken dumplings were also delicious. It was just a great balance of flavor and quantity. But the star was definitely the Dancing Beef. Delicious flavor and with the perfect heat, you can't go wrong here. Can't wait to return and try more dishes. We will definitely be back. How was your visit? Which are your favorites? Until next time.

The venue was actually pretty nice with a nice and orderly ambiance in business casual dress all around. I really enjoyed the food , but my overall opinion is that the food was good but not worth the price. Panfried pork shrimp dumpling: 10/10 very good , wish I had more. I think I would try pork next time Crying tiger beef: 8/10: beef cut thinly but very saucy with the rice crackers underneath Water spinach : 9/10 classic stir fry vegetables, pretty good and fresh Mapo tofu : actually one of the best Mapo tofu with a hint of spice, nicely fresh tasting tofu, and a simplistic feel 10/10

Overall, the experience was pleasant. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, showing good attention to quality. Though there’s room for small improvements, everything came together nicely, making it an enjoyable visit.

Soup dumplings were spot on! The General Tso's Chicken was surprising. It was sweet but not over powering and the bit of spiciness to it was not overbearing. Would 100% eat here again. Parking was no issue. We showed up around 7pm on a Friday and had zero issues parking in a truck in their parking lot which is not the case with most of montrose.

visiting Wanna Bao? Good food and a chill space! My family and I went in a rainy day which proved to be the best time to try out Wanna Bao. It wasn’t too packed, or too loud and parking was easy despite what the other reviews said. For the food: Spicy popcorn chicken: 10/10. Beware it IS spicy. Red oil dumplings: 7/10 the oil was on point! Shanghai Chili Lettuce Wrap: 8/10 This dish was solid! Shredded Chicken in Spicy Garlic Sauce: 6/10 flavor was there, not spicy and a safe choice. Shrimp dumplings: 8/10 I enjoyed the outer crispy underneath consistency. Nutella Dumpling dessert: 8/10 different and tasty. Over all, Wanna Bao did not disappoint!

Eugene's Gulf Coast Cuisine is a classic, family-run restaurant and oyster bar that offers hearty Cajun-style meat and seafood dishes. Inspired by the robust regional Gulf Coast cookery and influences from neighboring Louisiana, this dark-wooded space in a neighborhood serves updated presentations of traditional Southern flavors.
I had a wonderful dining experience at Evgeniy’s restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was attentive throughout the evening. I tried several dishes including the baked oysters, snapper topped with crab, and a beautifully done crème brûlée for dessert. Every bite was full of flavor, and the presentation was excellent. The prices were also quite reasonable — I paid $99 in total for everything. Highly recommended for seafood lovers looking for quality and taste in a cozy setting!

Unfortunately, I line up with reviews about expectations for a seafood house. The price didn’t align with my service experience, the quality of food, or the portions. Particularly the Mariscada—which I found had little seafood and was overcooked. The space is beautiful and has had many lives—like someone else mentioned I would probably only come back for Happy Hour.

We celebrated my sister’s 55th birthday at Eugene’s, and it was an unforgettable experience. Lunch was spectacular, and Aldo delivered top-notch service from start to finish. We started with crab fingers, oysters on the half shell, and BBQ shrimp—each appetizer was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented The valet attendants took great care of us and made parking effortless. I recommend using the service even when it’s not busy—it’s a great convenience that adds to the overall experience. Eugene’s offers not just amazing food but also a relaxed atmosphere where you can truly enjoy a conversation without being overwhelmed by loud music. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

My wife and I met friends here for dinner. My wife had the salmon and she liked it. I had steak and it was okay. The dessert was delicious. It's an interesting restaurant tucked in a neighborhood. Parking is limited.

- [ ] I would quite literally go here just for the happy hour on the fresh oysters. It’s been awhile since we’ve had oysters that reminded us of our time in NOLA, and this place does it right. They are so fresh and plump. The boudin balls were decent, honestly it could have been a little more crispier. The remoulade was perfect though. To drink, I got the Ruby’s Prosecco (St. Germain, an ice ball filled with orange juice, muddle berries and mint, then topped with prosecco) it was a light and refreshing cocktail, and as time goes on the ice slowly melts releasing the other flavors. For our mains, I got the Pecan Crust Rainbow Trout with Asparagus and the Twice Baked Potato. The fish was cooked perfectly, and I loved the Bianca sauce. I thought it complimented it perfectly. My. Husband got the special which I can’t remember if there was a septic name to it but it had some Scallops and topped with Lump Cramb Meat in a light butter sauce. He enjoyed it, but I think he lucked out because he was originally going to order the Ribeye but our waiter told us the specials so he went with the scallops. Overall, the service was great. It’s a nice little place that gave us a little piece of NOLA without having to travel the extra 5 hours.

I had a bitter after taste leaving the restaurant heading home. Not sure why. I ordered two items for HRW Saturday brunch menu: 1) crab stuffed jalapeños and 2) Kyle’s crab salad. Both were mediocre at best. Bacon saved the day for the salad since the dressing wasn’t doing the job. Nothing was outstanding.

This was our second time coming, our first time was really amazing as well, I love this type of cuisine, right up my alley, ran I to a client of mine that frequents there as well. Great drinks ,delicious food, wonderful service. ( jenny) and deserts! Love this place, dinner and able to have a conversation without distractions..t.v at the bar for happy hours as well. The poblano soup to die for, seafood gumbo, stuffed flounder, lump crab over asparagus and keylime over cheesecake..
Jim R — Google review
Today we went for Houston Restaurant Week (HRW) . It was a very disappointing experience. My friends and I wanted to try a new place during HRW and this turned out to be the least exciting and least quality filled experience. We all ordered the 2 items from the HRW menu, $25 each, plus additional drinks and items from happy hour. I got the crab stuffed jalapenos, $1.25 oysters, and Croquilles Saint-Jacques. The crabcaked served with the saint-jacques were more bread than crab, the scallop was tough and out of the food items ordered, the only decent tasting (flavor and quality) was the crab stuffed Jalapeños. The oysters were gulf, sub-par and tasted old. The shrimp from the shrimp cocktail tasted as though it was not fresh or had been sitting out because it tasted dry and hard. Our server, though very nice was very un-attentive. I'm not sure if it may have been a lack of experience or lack of management. It looked as though the service staff were chicken with their heads cut off because there were no active managers on the floor or "table - tapping" to ensure quality and service. Additionally during our time there we saw that the other table next to us that he was in charge of had to consistently get his attention for service, even though he had taken our order then turned to leave without checking on them as well. At the end of the meal I asked for food To-Go, I always get my father food from new places so he can try. He got the catfish pieces and a side of red beans and rice, the total amount of his food came to $20. Pictures are attached but for this price this is not worth it. The icing on the cake was, I tried the catfish pieces and they were unseasoned, breading falling off, and TASTED EXTREMELY FISHY. If you are a fish lover you know this means the fish is old and possibly against health violations. Overall it is sad that this place is so close to me but I have decided never to be a patron of this establishment again. I do not want to give this place a chance if the owners and managers do not take this seriously.

San Dong Noodle & Dumpling House is an Asian eatery located in a strip mall, offering a variety of noodles, dumplings, and potstickers. Despite its utilitarian design for takeout, the menu features comforting Taiwanese noodle soups and pan-fried or steamed dumplings. The restaurant provides affordable dining with a fulfilling meal for two costing less than $20.
Just wow! The food is so incredibly delicious, the portions are huge, and the prices are fair! We had the beef tendon noodles, sesame noodles, veggie and pork chive dumplings. 100% please get and try the beef tendon, it was life changing. Melt in your mouth tendon, and a flavorful broth and amazing noodles. The sesame noodles are a sesame lovers dream. And all of the dumplings were fantastic!

Just visited San Dong Noodle House and I'm still dreaming about those handmade noodles! This place delivers authentic, soulful Chinese cuisine that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the check. The beef noodle soup is absolutely spectacular - tender chunks of beef swimming in a rich, aromatic broth with perfectly chewy handmade noodles. But the true showstoppers are their pork & chive dumplings with perfectly crimped edges and juicy fillings that burst with flavor. What impressed me most was how quickly everything arrived at our table despite the restaurant being busy. The staff clearly takes pride in their craft, and it shows in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. Whether you're craving comfort food or looking to explore authentic Chinese cuisine, San Dong Noodle House delivers on all fronts. Don't miss this culinary treasure - your taste buds will thank you!

San Dong remains a Houston staple that never misses! My usual go-to is their incredible beef noodle soup, but this time I switched it up for the pork chop rice plate at an amazing $9.99. It was a fantastic choice—perfectly seasoned, tender pork paired with fluffy rice that’s just as satisfying as my usual. The pan fried dumplings were, as always, a highlight, with their crispy exterior and juicy, savory filling. The vibe is cozy, the service is warm, and the food is consistently outstanding. San Dong is a must-visit gem in Houston!

Surprisingly good Cantonese style noodle house. While they have a few different options, I tried the signature spicy beef noodle. You order and pay at the counter, get a table number and they bring the food out. The meats are braised to perfection and they give you a good amount and proportionate to the noodles. The pickled cabbage they put in is amazing too. Overall, great experience and would love to try out their other signature dishes next time

I had an excellent first-time experience at this restaurant! The Roasted Beef Noodle soup and Pan-fried Dumplings were standout dishes. The broth was clear and flavorful, and the noodles were fresh and perfectly cooked. The option to customize spice levels with pepper and chili oil was a great touch. The dumplings were authentic and had a homemade taste. Portion sizes were generous – we often shared the dumplings, easy portions. The service was efficient, with friendly staff and easy counter ordering, kudos to them. Even during rush hour, the tables turned over smoothly. Highly recommend the Roasted Beef Noodles and Pan-fried Dumplings – a fun and satisfying meal for both kids and adults!

Mexican restaurant
Tacos Doña Lena in Spring Branch is a down-to-earth spot offering a variety of authentic Mexican dishes. Founded by Lena Cabrera, who started selling tacos in her hometown of Salamanca Guanajuato, Mexico, the taqueria has gained popularity for its handmade masa gorditas, sopes, and birria de res tacos. The restaurant quickly became a favorite among Houston foodies since its opening in April 2020 and has expanded to a second location near the Heights.
The food was excellent, the atmosphere was infectious and the staff handled everything so well. I ordered my food just as the lunch rush began, and though I witnessed the popularity of the food first hand my food got to me. Good food takes time to prepare and serve. So my service time was about 15 minutes. However, when I say that the food was worth the wait is an understatement of epic proportions. The birria beef tacos were cooked (crafted) perfectly as the dipping soup/sauce was amazingly delicious. The crunch of the cheese and corn tortilla seemed like something out of fairy tales. To top it all off the staff always served the food with a smile. Jessica stood out and offered great customer service!

I like that they offer a variety of spicy salsas. The food is great. Vibes are good. This was my second time going and we've had a great experience so far. My second visit was for mother's day weekend, and they gave a rose to all the mother's. It was a nice gesture.

Every weekend, we do a “Tacos Weekend” with my husband, and this place is always our favorite. I always get three tacos: Barbacoa – Soft, juicy, and full of flavor. Fried Tripe – Crispy and delicious. Great texture! Lengua– Very tender. Tastes amazing with lime. We’ve tried many taco places, but this one is the best. Simple, tasty, and always satisfying.
Mayu M — Google review
This little spot in Spring Branch is a pleasant surprise with the service and food. I ordered the quesabirria, and they did not disappoint. Full of flavor from the seasoning, sauce selection and consume. I was greeted with a smile, served with a smile and was checked on by multiple staff members. There were equal orders for To-go, as diners, the place was busy with both. Definitely coming back to the gem! If you're in the area, give it a try, you won't regret it.

Italian restaurant
Mediterranean restaurant
New American restaurant
Ostia is a trendy, wood-fired eatery in Houston run by chef Travis McShane. The restaurant has an open kitchen and a bright, spacious atmosphere adorned with plants. It offers a menu that showcases Mediterranean and Italian-inspired dishes with a modern twist. Notable items include the flavorful half chicken served with lemon, salsa verde, and herb jus, as well as the rotating selection of pastas like gnocchi, bucatini, and linguine.
The restaurant is lovely, having been seated in the Greenhouse section. It’s enclosed but feels like a patio because of all glass doors/windows allowing sunshine to pour in with lots of plants surrounding us. My girlfriends & I all enjoyed something different from the lunch menu. It appears the menu changes regularly with certain variations of their plates. However, I can appreciate that because the meals are fresh and prepared rich with flavors based on the ingredients chosen by the chefs on any given day. I had a pasta Aglio e olio - which by description included shrimp with a red chili sauce. Wow! I also tried a pizza my friend ordered - Pizza Bianca- which was quite impressive. Two other friends were also pleased their choices. I’ve included pictures in my review. Our waitress was friendly and exceptionally helpful explaining the specific options on the menu which was great because it was Italian fare we weren’t very familiar with. Afterwards, we shared chocolate cake with our cappuccinos. The restaurant offered a valet which simplified parking for all of us. Overall, everything was wonderful and we look forward to visiting again soon.
Victoria S — Google review
A wonderful and cozy local restaurant. The vibe is so cozy. There's no pretentiousness. The food was great. I had the gnocchi, and it was the perfect texture. They were not afraid to use enough acid in the sauce, so it was not a creamy cheesy mess like you'd get at a chain restaurant. The potato wedges are so crispy and fluffy.
Manmohan S — Google review
Mediocre overall. Restaurant itself is gorgeous and the atmosphere is great. However I wasn’t blown away of their food. Their calamari honestly felt like cheap-out option. It barely had any calamari in it and they were overloaded with sauce heavy greens; very salty. Pizza was delicious tho. The dough was bouncy and the sauce had the right amount of saltiness. We ordered gnocchi and okra as well but they were average. Not memorable or great. I did find the server tad annoying, constantly asking us if we wanted our food packaged to-go when we were still waiting on our next meal. He visited at least 4 times while we were still waiting or eating, continuously asking if we wanted it packed. I would be thankful if he asked at the end, just not during our meal. It felt like he couldn’t wait to kick us out of there. Weird choice in service.
Pan S — Google review
Had to go a couple more times for their Chicken Salsa Verde before they closed. Excellent and unique dish - perfectly cooked through chicken that’s tender and moist encrusted with crispy skin and that earthy, herbaceous salsa verde. It’s not a Mexican “salsa”/not spicy at all; more an amalgamation of seemingly every fresh herb they could find, finely diced and infused into olive (?) oil and drizzled over the chicken.) The cauliflower salad was good, too - three kinds of pickled (?) and/or blanched (?), thinly sliced cauliflower that is fresh and crunchy with pistachios and a bit of sweetness from golden raisins. Not pictured but I’ve had the lemon sorbet, which was good - very rich, for not being ice cream. A little unbalanced towards the tart side ; not enough sweetness to even it out. But still refreshing. Beautiful space, good service. I was brought someone else’s salad by mistake, but no big deal.
David C — Google review
Ostia is another of our favorite establishments which is a Montrose neighborhood-centric joint with a menu reflective of Chef Travis McShane’s approach to farm-to-table, rustic, and lighter Mediterranean fare with an underlying Italian tone. This Montrose favorite boasts botanical-inspired patios, outdoor-oriented interiors, including casually-chic dining spaces, air-conditioned outdoor terraces, and an intimate chef’s table. The Osteritas (Margarita) and many dishes are AMAZING! Sometimes the service has been a bit slow. Valet parking or parking lot located on Dunlavy, beware of massive pot hole as soon as you drive on ramp as your vehicle will drop hard. Just read in Houston Chronicle the owner is closing both locations on 9/13/25 as he wants to spend more time with his family. This is very sad news to me and several of my friends who are regulars. I must have the receipt for the twice cooked potato wedges with garlic aioli, Cesar salad and the Ricotta Pancakes.
AdanSitto — Google review
I had such an incredible experience that I couldn't resist going back twice in a single week! The convenience of complimentary valet parking added to the overall satisfaction. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly, setting the tone for an exceptional visit. Even though I decided on a last-minute lunch, I never felt rushed at all. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food surpassed my expectations. The butter cake dessert, in particular, was a standout, offering a truly special indulgence. Not only is the food outstanding, but the venue itself is stunning. The meticulous decor placement and thoughtful design contribute to its beauty. The abundance of natural light creates a pleasant ambiance, making it an ideal spot for a casual date night, a delightful girls' lunch, or an impressive business lunch or dinner. Enjoy!!!
Darlinda M — Google review
This is very nice looking restaurant. The patio and green room appear to be nice, but too hot for June. The host seemed bit arrogant when we arrived. He was better when we left. The service is very good. Our server Ashley (spelling?) was awesome and had great recommendations. Adequate wine, beer, and cocktail options. The food is very good. We ordered the Caesar salad 5/5, the house chicken 5/5, hangar steak 5/5, potato wedges 5/5, and chocolate mousse cake 5/5. Cannot wait to return.
Ron R — Google review
My wife, two daughters, and I decided to try Ostia, without making a reservation. When we arrived, we were greeted and told there was no room inside, but they would check. After waiting in the entrance for nearly 15 minutes without any updates, we finally asked about the status. Another person at the front desk curtly informed us there was no availability at all. As we were about to leave, she suddenly said that if we could be out by 7:15, we could sit outside. Her attitude was dismissive, but since we really wanted to give the restaurant a try, we agreed. Once seated, things improved. The food and drinks were excellent, and our waitress was absolutely wonderful—warm, attentive, and accommodating. The only minor issue was that the main dishes took a bit longer than expected to arrive. By the end of the meal, around 7:25, our waitress even suggested dessert, which we happily agreed to. Unfortunately, when she went inside to get the check, the same front desk host intercepted her, brought the bill directly to our table, and delivered it with an unnecessarily rude attitude once again. To make things worse, we then sat with the check for another 10–15 minutes, time we could have been enjoying dessert. Eventually, my wife had to take the check inside herself. Overall, our experience at Ostia was bittersweet. The food, ambiance, and service from our waitress were genuinely excellent, but the poor attitude and lack of professionalism from the front desk overshadowed it all. It’s disappointing, especially since we live nearby and had hoped to make this a regular spot to recommend to friends. Unfortunately, it’s now clear why Ostia doesn’t have stronger reviews—it’s not the kitchen or the servers, but the unwelcoming front-of-house experience.

Kim Tai is a casual eatery that offers a variety of Vietnamese favorites, including pho and other diverse dishes. The menu boasts traditional options like pork and shrimp banh cuon, as well as innovative combinations such as deep-fried banana and taro. Their culinary skills are exceptional, ensuring the flavors are spot on without being too greasy. Each serving comes with a generous portion of meat and herbs. For those seeking an extra kick, they also offer a spicy version upon request.
While the building was well loved and could use some care and updating, the food was outstanding. Being from south Louisiana, I’ve often been disappointed by food in Houston. I often find it white washed, lacking authenticity and layers of well developed flavors. This place is definitely an exception and worth a trip for sure.

Disappointed after checking out this place that had a 4.7 rating. Be surprised by the location and the structure of where this place is located. It is a small hole in a wall small family run kind of a place. The eggrolls were the only items that I would say was the highlight of the meal for the price. Everything else was mediocre. The rock ‘n’ roll dishes that we ordered for chicken and beef were warm- cold and as you can see in the pictures, meat was rare not well done. I wouldn’t recommend this place and don’t think I will be returning to it again.

The rooms feature opulent bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and premium amenities for a VIP experience. Guests can indulge in spa treatments at Beauty & Beyond, known for its acclaimed facial services including Oxygen Facials and Microdermabrasion.
Honestly this was one of, if not the best, Marriott property I’ve stayed at in years. The place was exceptional clean and well taken care of, especially with it being a historical property. The rooms were very nice & clean as well as spacious. There must have been sound proofing done on the windows cause we couldn’t really hear any outside noise at all. The bed was very comfortable to sleep on and sheets were so soft I wanted a set for myself. The bath products provided were excellent quality and the towels were very soft as well. Overall this was a top notch hotel and would highly recommend to stay here.

Valet is definitely overpriced, but to their credit, the service was quick and the staff very friendly. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a great atmosphere, full of historic charm. Our room had an old A/C unit that initially made things feel damp, but once it cooled down, it was much more comfortable. The room was spacious with a large, beautiful bathroom featuring elegant tile, a deep soaking tub, and a big stand-up shower. Beds were super comfy, and even the elevators, though older, added to the vintage vibe in a good way. Overall, a great stay with tons of character!

I stayed here recently for my anniversary and Umer went above and beyond to make sure that we felt welcomed and had a nice stay. They even had the room decorated with flowers and a welcoming charcuterie board with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate. It was such a nice touch and made our trip so much more memorable. The suite we stayed in was so nice, very clean, cozy. Thank you Umer, definitely planning a repeat stay!

Beautiful room. Some boutique rooms can be small but not here. Set up a romantic staycation with wife. Staff very friendly. Lovely bar area when you check in. Now....the elevators are small. I think it's because the building originally was a bank. Decor reminds me of the 1920s. Rooms are soundproof with blackout curtains. Bed has an outstanding weighted blanket. Haven't tried food service yet. Will definitely return.

I went the weekend of Halloween and the hotel had cobwebs, blood spatter and handprints, and a skeleton at the front desk! Lots of fun - straight out of American Horror Story! The hotel was true to its name - a vintage look, and a great bar at the center of the hotel. The bartender was very friendly and made some really good drinks. They had a complimentary shuttle to the conference I went to. The room was great with a HUGE bathroom that had a shower AND a bath. The customer service here was exemplary. I will definitely come back here.

One of my favorite hotels to stay in Houston. The hotel is iconically historic, per its name, and really gives a level of class and sophistication that you desire when staying in a hotel. Check in was smooth and I received a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe suite that had a huge soaking tub. I recommend this room which had complimentary waters and great views of the city. They have robes for use while staying and a great bar and restaurant. Their breakfast buffet is nice as well so please get the breakfast option. Thank you Hotel Icon We will be back!!

My stay at Hotel Icon felt like stepping into elegance. It’s a beautiful 4-star hotel where every corner has charm and detail, and I really enjoyed taking it all in. While relaxing at the bar, the attendant shared some of the hotel’s history with photos, which made the experience even more special. Such a welcoming place — definitely a memorable stay in Houston!
Asha T — Google review
This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. At most it's a 3 star hotel. The hotel used to be an actual bank in the early 1900s so I can definitely see how dated it is. Our bed sheets had stains. Bed was a bit hard and not too comfortable. I don't like the TV on the side of the bed because you have to turn your head to watch TV. The bathroom is terribly designed. When you open the showed door, it hits the shower head on the top. See the pictures. The shower head was also very rusty. The wall paper is also coming off the wall. The tiny fridge is inside some cabinet, it's very tight so when you open it your hand always bumps the cabinet. There is no microwave in the room. Employees were nice and the bar area was decent. Don't get the truffle fries. They were fried with very dirty oil. Overall it is a decent hotel in a nice location but it's definitely not 4 stars.

Chinese restaurant
Trendy Dumpling in Houston is a popular spot known for its modern and vibrant space, offering a delectable menu of soup dumplings, Bao, noodles, and traditional Sichuan dishes. With almost thirty years of experience, head chef Chen brings expertise to the table. The restaurant's specialties include Mix Meat in Spicy Pot, orange chicken, Shrimp in Fire, sautéed mixed vegetables, and more.
Great food! The interior was well decorated and very nice. The service was fast, and the food was hot and delicious. The dumplings were absolutely delicious, and the 2 entrees we ordered had a huge portion and great flavor. They were hand pulling noodles which we did not realize until after we ordered, but want to come back and try them!

I brought my family here for a dinner celebration, and it was a hit! Everyone loved their dishes, and we had a great time sharing and trying each other’s food. The atmosphere is such a vibe. We even got lucky and caught one of the chefs making hand-pulled noodles right in front of us. I am excited to come back and try even more dishes!

The Trendy Dumpling is absolutely outstanding! The fried crab cream puffs are crispy on the outside, creamy and flavorful on the inside — truly one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. The General Tso’s chicken is perfectly cooked with just the right balance of sweet, savory, and spice. On top of the incredible food, the atmosphere is amazing — warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal or a night out. This place is a true gem and easily one of the best dining experiences around. best Chinese food I have ever had!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible dumplings! From the moment we walked in, the aroma alone had us excited — and every bite delivered. The dumplings were perfectly crafted: juicy, flavorful, and fresh out of the steamer. You can really taste the quality in every dish, especially the soup dumplings and pan-fried pork dumplings. The service was fast and friendly, and the staff made sure our tea was always full. The atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and even when it’s packed (which it often is!), everything still feels smooth and well run. This place easily earns its reputation as one of the best dumpling spots in town. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or bringing friends for dinner, you’ll leave happy. Highly recommend the chili oil dumplings — life-changing!

I drive past this location all the time, and I had it book marked. This past weekend i decided to give them a try The menu offers a variety of Asian cuisine (mostly Chinese dishes). The menu also indicates if something is spicy (red pepper symbol) or if something specifically has Szechuan peppers in it (Szechuan pepper symbol). Also, of the dishes indicate if it's popular The food was tasty, and the portions were hearty. There was just the right amount of heat (spicy) to the spicy dishes. We also tried the bubble waffle for dessert and it was a little more browned and tough than we would have liked The location is well decorated, and there is a good use of space and lighting. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had our water carafe filled regularly. I will say that after our meal came our server didn't check to see if everything was correct or if we were alright until maybe 30+ min into the meal. Also, we didn't receive one of our appetizers, and when the check came it was on there. Just make sure everything is correct on the receipt Some tips: You can either access this location from the feeder road or from West Park (behind it). If the dish has Szechuan in it then it will have quite a bit of pepper in it. Just be careful. The spicy dumplings are a terrific starter Cheers!!

Plenty of parking outside the restaurant. Came on a Friday evening around 5pm and was seated right away. The food was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. The Basil Chicken dish and the Sichuan Biang Noodles are a must try dishes! The noodles are hand pulled and well seasoned. The Basil Chicken dish goes very well with rice. Portions are very generous as well.

I hadn’t been to Trendy Dumpling in a while so I forgot all about it, but I came back and was reminded of why I loved it. The dumplings were all delicious and the service was FAST especially considering it was Saturday evening. We scarfed the dumplings and baos so fast that I didn’t snap a picture 😅 pictures are of the Dan Dan Noodles and Peppercorn Chicken. Can’t wait to come back!

A taste of flavor in your mouth. The dish that caught my eye was noodles with lamb—delicious! Highly recommended.

Thai restaurant
Street to Kitchen is a casual restaurant located in the East End, offering traditional Thai street food. Chef Benchawan Jabthong Painter's journey from opening a small drive-thru takeaway during the pandemic to winning a James Beard Award for Best Chef Texas has been remarkable. The restaurant, now in its larger location, continues to impress with its dynamic and well-balanced dishes that pack a flavorful punch.
Always a pleasant time coming to eat here. Food is always good. Service is always great. I love it. Spice levels are on point. So be careful if you can handle that spice. Try to make a reservation in advance if you can usually pretty easy to do and do NOT skip on mango sticky rice.
Victor S — Google review
We were really excited to try this restaurant, and it usually gets packed over the weekends. However, we managed to get a spot at the bar and the good thing was at the bar has full Services. We ordered a cocktails, which were great, and as far as the food was concerned, despite the fact that we requested mild to medium spice. It was crazy because our food was really really spicy, and this is coming from somebody who can handle spice. It felt like our food had way too much pepper, or something got lost in translation, and they thought that we wanted a lot more spice than what we had intended for our meal. Anyway, given the busyness at the restaurant, and how late we were and getting our food to begin with. We just kind of stuck with it. Overall, it’s cute. Little spot. Maybe we will give it a shot another time, but for now I’m taking a break from it.
Shivika S — Google review
The food at Street to Kitchen was delicious — everything we tried was packed with flavor and really well done. The serving sizes, though, felt a bit on the small side. We ordered six dishes and one small plate for four people, and it still felt like we could have used a bit more food to feel full. I miss the charm of the old gas station spot, but I’m glad the new location can accommodate more people. Overall, still a yummy and memorable meal!
Aqueel S — Google review
The place is a little dark for me but I have an eye disease that makes everything darker or lighter than to other people. The food is incredible. We had the chive pancake and fish appetizer. I def recommend the chive pancake it was different and very tasty. For entrees we had Thai basil fried rice, pad thai, and Krakow beef. All were very delclicious and warning they are for real about their spice. But it tastes so good that you can't stop eating at least this describes the fried rice dish. We got the mango sticky rice dessert and that was also some of the best mango sticky rice I've ever had. The mango was fresh and rice warm and tasted like it was just freshly made.
Annie P — Google review
I have been a fan of Chef G since her Urban Harvest days. In fact, on a recent visit she blessed me with a Thai omelette since I always ask when I can get one. What a wonderful surprise. We also had the drunken noodles which she manages to perfect the level of chewiness of the noodle with the crisp caramelization on the outside. Maybe my all-time favorite dish is the green curry with chicken, which I always try to save some to take home to have the next day. Last, we had the mango sticky rice which we were told has three kinds of coconut milk. Yeah, all I know is that it had the most perfect mango I have ever eaten, and, being a mid-59s Asian guy, I’ve eaten a lot of mangoes. Our server informed us that there is some secret way of ripening the mango. Whatever it is, Chef G produces a mango that is sweet, not stringy, and firm enough to hold shape but soft enough that a gentle pressing of it between your tongue and the roof of your mouth produces and explosion on mangoey goodness. If there was one restaurant that I had to eat at for a year, this would be it.
Michael W — Google review
The food here is incredible! The Thai flavors are authentic and by authentic yes prepare to go on a spice journey! A delicious one. I usually sit at the bar here during lunch or dinner for quicker service.
Julio D — Google review
I’ve been a regular at this restaurant since they were doing takeaway out of a little place in the Heights during Covid, so I have no excuse for not having written a review before now. Chef B is a genius, and her husband Graham keeps the front of house running smoothly and shows genuine care and concern for every person who walks through the door. The food is so so good, from her traditional Thai to her Thai-inspired riffs on Texas steak. I always leave uncomfortably full. 😂 Also, their bar program run by Graham and bartender Thomas is phenomenal. They have a great selection of small production wines, including lots of natty options, that pair perfectly with Chef’s spicy flavors. And their cocktail menu is perfection. The photos are from my most recent dinner there, where we had 3 items off the seasonal menu—the khao soi (beef curry), poached shrimp and watermelon (to absolutely die for) and one of my personal favorites, the crispy prawns, which you can just eat whole. I also have to give a shout out to Chef’s massaman curry, off their “always” menu, which I literally survived off of when I had COVID in early 2021. It was the only thing that felt good to eat for days. ❤️
Jessica C — Google review
It was amazing! I can’t wait to go back! Our server was awesome! Great food! It is SPICY already! I would think twice on asking more spice than it already comes with. Mango sticky rice is good but not the best. But wow! Def will come back!

Shanghainese restaurant
Chinese restaurant
One Dragon is a cozy and unassuming eatery located in Chinatown, specializing in traditional Shanghai-style Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is renowned for its delectable soup dumplings filled with pork or pork and shrimp, as well as crispy-bottomed bao with various fillings. In addition to these specialties, One Dragon also excels at larger plates featuring beef and duck.
Pretty solid hole in the wall spot 👌 the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The service is very quick, they make sure you are well taken care of. The prices were pretty good. We got the braised pork belly and the shrimp crispy bao, both were really great!! It felt verh authentic. We were very surprised that it was more than enough food for 2 people. Definitely would recommend!
Katelyn P — Google review
One Dragon is a true gem in Houston’s dumpling scene! Their soup dumplings are hands down some of the best in the city — delicate, flavorful, and bursting with hot, savory broth. A must-order every time. The sautéed green beans are also the bomb. They are perfectly blistered, garlicky, and addictively good. We also loved the tofu skin wrap, which was light yet rich in flavor. It is a really delicious and unique dish. The crispy bottom bao were also great. They are golden and crunchy on the bottom, soft and juicy on top. The service is friendly and attentive. The interior is pretty small, so it fills up fast, but it adds to the cozy, hole in the wall vibe. If you love soup dumplings or just solid Chinese food, One Dragon should definitely be on your list.

I went here for dinner with my in-laws and was really disappointed. The food was okay, but the service was terrible. No one checked on us, asked if we needed anything else, or even refilled our water. When I went to pay, I still tried to be polite and left a 10% tip. Shockingly, the woman came right up to our table in front of my in-laws and demanded a 20% tip — even though the service didn’t deserve it at all. What a shame. They need to learn that good service earns a good tip — not guilt-trip people for it. This kind of behavior just turns the tipping culture into a scam. They treat customers rudely and like idiots. I won’t be coming back and don’t recommend this place to anyone.
Alberto S — Google review
This place is like having my grandma’s cooking again! Highly recommend the braised pork belly, pan fried buns and scallion pancake. Everything was delicious and the ladies working there were so nice.
Leen K — Google review
Braised pork belly and crispy bottom bao are awesome 👍 Braised pork belly came out fast but crispy bottom bao may take a while, however, they’re totally worth it! Great service. Definitely coming back here again!
Natta P — Google review
Overall, they had pretty decent Shanghai-style cuisine. The eight of us ordered a bunch of dishes for dinner, some of them like the Shanghai smoked fish were flavorful but some of them weren't to be recommended like the tender sweet & sour pork ribs (meat was not tender but dry). And the portion wasn't big enough.
Mike H — Google review
Food was excellent and highly recommend the soup dumplings. The waitress was so nice and even talked us through suggestions on the menu of which we got and enjoyed a lot. Pork spare ribs, pork belly, and sweet and sour chicken were all great and again the pork soup dumplings were amazing too!
Alberto M — Google review
We LOVE this place. Especially the Xiao Long Bao and the Braised pork. I’m always surprised there’s not more people there. The servers are so nice and literally everything we’ve ordered has been so solid. I recommend this place to everyone.

Breakfast restaurant
Chinese noodle restaurant
Bao Shi Yi is a bright and inviting eatery that serves up a delectable array of Chinese breakfast and snack options. From bao buns, dumplings, and noodles to traditional dishes like wonton soup and rice porridge, this spot offers a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine. The menu features signature items such as Xiao Long Bao with various fillings, Hang Zhou steamed buns, and healthy soups.
Really good place for its dumplings and hand pulled noodles! Throughout the meal I can only hear one phrase from my wife “mmmm! I love this place” the soup dumplings were spot on, the flavour of the beef noodle soup is excellent, with a slight herbal hint to the taste buds. The food is cooked fresh and hot perfect for the cool weather! The soya milk is pure and you can tell it’s high quality! Will definitely bring our family back here! Agreed with others on the steamed buns to give it more flavour and more filling. But the rest of the food we ordered were excellent! (It’s a quiet restaurant and I do hope it stays open because it’s hard to find good dumpling places in Houston!) chef, keep up the great work!
Jack H — Google review
Bao Shi Yi presents a mixed experience. The restaurant's ambiance is aesthetically pleasing, with thoughtfully designed decor that adds to the dining atmosphere. The attention to detail in creating a visually appealing space is commendable and contributes positively to the overall dining experience. On the culinary front, the dumplings at Bao Shi Yi are undoubtedly a highlight. Each bite is a flavorful journey, with well-balanced fillings and expertly crafted wrappers. The menu showcases a variety of options, catering to different taste preferences, and the quality of ingredients is apparent. However, the positive aspects of the dining experience are somewhat overshadowed by a couple of notable drawbacks. The cleanliness of the lobby falls short of expectations, creating a less-than-ideal first impression for patrons. Maintaining a clean and welcoming entrance is crucial for establishing a positive atmosphere, and this area could benefit from improvement. Furthermore, the staff's demeanor is a point of concern. Unfortunately, some encounters with the staff have been marked by rudeness, which detracts from the overall hospitality of the establishment. Polite and attentive service is an essential aspect of a successful dining experience, and addressing this issue could significantly enhance customer satisfaction. In conclusion, Bao Shi Yi offers a delightful culinary journey with its delectable dumplings and appealing aesthetics. However, attention to cleanliness in the lobby and improvement in staff courtesy are areas that, if addressed, could elevate the overall dining experience and leave a more positive impression on customers.

The dumplings were good. Service was ok. Not super friendly. The place looks really nice and it's sort of a cafe type of vibe. Pricing is ok and the food was good. Not great but not bad at all. Still a good place to checkout of you're looking for dumplings and such type of food.
Hernan F — Google review
Nice lunch spot! We wanted to get a good taste for the menu so we ordered a couple things. I loved the ambiance of the place, it’s retro but small and quaint. The food came out pretty quickly and the presentation was really cute! I do wish that the staff or at least the person handling the register was more friendly and helpful rather than just texting on her phone. They were also out of their main milk tea options on the menu which was a bummer but perhaps an opportunity to visit a second time!
Keisha H — Google review
Came across this quaint little restaurant on our way back from the airport. The Spicy Chicken Wrap and Mushroom, Bean Curd & Vegetable Buns were flavorful, the texture of the buns were soft and fluffy. However, the Soup Dumplings should not be served on a piece of paper since the wrappers were all stuck onto the paper which caused the dumplings to break and the soup overflowed. We highlighted it to the female staff who immediately made a new order and placed the soup dumplings individually in a different container. Clean restaurant, cool ambiance with outdoor seating option, frozen buns available for sale but there is room for improvement in terms of the staff’s friendliness. In addition, the female staff seemed to be pretty occupied on her mobile phone. Would love to try their New Orleans Chicken Buns next time!
Michelle C — Google review
A great place to get your dumpling fix on. The little pork buns were delicious. The meat was flavorful & juicy - you could taste the hint of ginger and onions. Also definitely get the fried popcorn chicken and Chinese style hamburger; they are packed full of flavor.
Van N — Google review
It's a Cute small place, Clean. We went about 12pm on a Monday and there was nobody there. We were the only customer. We ordered the Chasiu Bao and Pork Bao. The Pork was bland, not much taste. The Chasiu was just OK. As for the Drinks we got MilkTea and Mango Slush. I got a less sweet MilkTea and it still was a little sweet and the boba was still a little hard, but still taste ok. The Mango Slush is good. Prices are average for these types of places. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
Alfredo D — Google review
Maybe I just had my expectations too high since it was my first time trying dumplings, but this was such a let down. I got the fresh meat ones and it had practically zero flavor, it was kinda like chewing slightly moist bread. I'll give it one more try but I don't expect much to change. Edit: Visited on 6/14, and got the soup dumplings plus the brown sugar boba. This was a much better experience and the soup ones tastes so much better.

Dumpling restaurant
Bubble tea store
Baoz Dumplings is a popular spot in the Downtown tunnels, offering a variety of Chinese buns and dumplings for those on the go. The menu includes options such as pork, chicken, vegetable, and shrimp dumplings. Customers appreciate the thin-skinned and flavorful steamed or pan-fried dumplings that cater to their busy lifestyles. The dipping sauce adds an extra layer of flavor to the already delicious dumplings.
It is an Olympic sport to find not only shrimp dumplings, but pan fried shrimp dumplings! But I found it !!! And this place hands down makes it delicious and fresh. Obsessed.
Rolanda C — Google review
My first time here. I ordered the chicken vermicelli bowl and was not pleased. The chicken was brown all the way throughout, hard and not fresh. I was told it was soaked in soy sauce, however, it must have been soaking for a few days. Was not impressed.

We got takeout of the fried dumplings and wonton soup. The soup was very cozy and filling with sizeable wontons. The fried dumplings were absolutely delicious, especially with the sauce! Simple and sweet.

I like going here for dumplings. Today my cheese puffs looked almost burned. They are usually good but today were tough. My dumplings are good though

This is one of my favorite work lunch spots. The service is so speedy and the dumplings are really good. There’s not much seating nearby but I would definitely recommend this place.

Stopped by for lunch and got the 12 dumpling combo can choose from vegetarian, chicken, or pork either steamed or pan fried. I got the pan fried chicken amd pork both were very good and the sauce that comes with it adds lots of flavor. Fast and friendly service, so I plan to go again!

Boaz has been a downtown lunch favorite of mine for almost 10 years. Their dumplings (pan fried or steamed) are delicious. They also have a large variety of boba selections. I usually order the 18 piece dumpling combo (comes with 2 sides). The spicy sauce is quite good. I usually eat this in 2 meals.
Ariel W — Google review
Best food I’ve had in the tunnels. Don’t worry about the line, it will move fast. Get the chicken or pork dumplings pan fried, you will not be disappointed! Try the spicy dumpling sauce it’s the best!! There is a loyalty program if you dine here often! Also the bubble tea next door is ordered in the same line and is convenient and delicious! If you go here you will definitely enjoy your lunch! The egg drop soup is also quite good.
