Cocktail bar
Eclectic restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Mission District of San Francisco, Trick Dog is a trendy cocktail bar that has been enchanting visitors since 2013. Housed in a repurposed warehouse, this hotspot offers an impressive selection of craft cocktails and eclectic small plates. The brainchild of Josh Harris, Trick Dog is famous for its biannual themed cocktail menus that showcase creativity and innovation—think Pantone color swatches or even a homage to the Whole Earth Catalog from the '60s!
March was seriously packed, and my editing speed turned into turtle mode 🐢🥲 I finally checked out Trick Dog, a spot that’s been sitting on my Google Maps forever! We arrived pretty late, but it was still packed! The space has two levels — upstairs looked more like a dining area and closed early. The downstairs bar is much smaller and super packed (a little loud too), so finding a seat wasn’t easy haha. The menu was SO cute! We blindly chose High Flyers and (I think) Sword Swallower. Both were really unique and surprisingly smooth! Sword Swallower was refreshing, while High Flyers was sweet but not heavy at all! We also ordered fries and chicken nuggets — the sauces were amazing and everything was freshly fried, super crispy and juicy! Highly recommend grabbing a snack with your drink. This is one of those places where I’d totally come back regularly to try their new menu themes. Loved it — totally recommend!

Trick Dog was super fun. The menu was circus themed, with each drink printed on its own postcard. The drinks were extremely creative and interesting. Our server was funny, playful, and even pulled a tablecloth out from under some glasses at the table next to us when nobody was even watching - I just noticed out of the corner of my eye as it happened. Just a quirky dude being a quirky dude. Love to see it. The food was great, though the menu is limited, everything we had was delicious. The "Doggy" sauce is the secret that makes everything tick. It's tangy, spicy, mustardy. A great sauce. The burger and dog in particular are great sandwiches. Also the kale salad is comically large. Overall just a fun, if a bit pricey, spot to have a few drinks and a few good bites.
Michael G — Google review
Trick Dog is such a fun and creative spot! It’s a themed bar that switches things up every six months — last time I went, it was a poetry theme, and yesterday they had a space theme. The menu is always super inventive, with cocktail names that match the theme perfectly. Drinks are delicious, the vibe is lively, and the music adds to the energy without being too loud. Definitely one of those places that keeps things fresh and makes you want to come back just to see what they’ll dream up next.
Carmen A — Google review
ultimately, a disappointing experience. Hopefully an anomaly. Context: Towards the end of a week night, group of five of us went there. both food and drinks were ordered. Cocktails were OK. But there was definitely an issue. One cocktail was almost completely ice. I would say 90% of the glass was ice cubes. The fries definitely tasted like they were old and stale, and were refried to try and save them. Texture was off, no longer crispy on the outside, fluffy on inside. Chicken sandwich was OK but felt like it was more a combination of ingredients rather than a cohesive sandwich. The kale salad, however, was quite good. Copious amounts of kale and cheese. That one is worth getting again. hostess, bartenders and staff were friendly. Nice ambience, cool place to hang. As I said before, I hope it was just an anomaly.
Jon L — Google review
It was a busy night when we came and really loud, but we were able to find a table upstairs. Service was prompt, drinks came out with not too bad of a wait. Cocktails are good, I definitely believe with their extensive menu there is a tasting profile for everyone. Bonus points for theme and creativity with he menu.
Manny P — Google review
There’s something magical about this bar and I just kept going back to it in the 2 months I stayed in SF. Def my fav bar in the area. They have such creative menu of cocktails and update the menu every 6 months. Super busy on Friday and weekend nights but bartenders make sure you’re taken care of. Just need a little time for them to get to you. Fun vibe and just so good drinks. Outdoor seating is pretty nice.
Sy W — Google review
Between my cousin and I, we tried 8 cocktails 🫣and all were SOOOOO good. The bartender KB was also fantastic. We also got the fries which were divine! The only thing is that after 4 cocktails you’d think I’d be hammered and I was barely buzzed.
Anna C — Google review
Trick Dog has long been known for its creativity, both in cocktail design and visual presentation — a legacy proudly displayed through its rotating, themed menus, many of which now serve as part of the bar’s wall decor. We visited during the Circus menu and sampled several cocktails. As expected with a concept that evolves frequently, the quality and balance of the drinks varied. Some offerings were well-executed and enjoyable, while others leaned more heavily on novelty than finesse. For instance, the Human Dartboard was a standout — refreshing and vegetal, topped with a clever cheese foam that added both texture and intrigue. In contrast, the Glass Walker opened with aggressively savory notes that made the first sip jarring; while it became slightly more approachable with subsequent sips, the overall balance felt off. Trick Dog continues to impress with its ambition and originality, but some drinks could benefit from a bit more nuance. At times, the concepts feel more literal than layered — bold in idea, but lacking the subtlety that makes a cocktail truly memorable.

ABV is a trendy spot known for its large-scale mural and upscale drinks and eats. The cocktails, beer, and wine are made with only a few ingredients but offer layers of complexity. The spirits selection is the real treasure here, with knowledgeable bartenders ready to recommend new options. The bar also serves delicious snacks until 1 am every night, including chicken tacos, falafel lamb dogs, and a great burger.
This is the second time I’ve stopped at ABV. The first time I came it was extremely busy, the second time I came right at opening and was sat right down. I’ve ordered several dishes now, every one of them has been delicious. I am a huge fan of their soft shell crab tacos. Every drink we ordered was also a delight. The service was amazing. Our server was kind and fast, there was also a guy coming out to check on us, ensuring our water was full on the sunny SF day. They have indoor seating and a decent sized outdoor area.
Natasha R — Google review
The food is pretty good, the burger is very good, the texture of French fries is perfect but it's a little bit salty. The ricotta toast is a dessert toast with fruits on it, it's very yummy as well. A good selection of drinks menu.
Ming-Chuan T — Google review
Good burger and friendly bartenders. I just got the burger (and a non-alcoholic drink that I forgot). Texture wise, it’s amazing. Flavor wise, it was ok. The beef didn’t lead the party. It was there, but it didn’t shine enough for me. It’s a good burger and I’m willing to come back and give it another try.
Abdulla J — Google review
Solid choice for cocktails and casual food at reasonable prices. Extensive drink menu with knowledgeable bartenders who take time to explain their creations. Tried several cocktails - the one with carrot juice was surprisingly delicious and well-portioned. Ahi tuna tartare ($19) with sesame chips was fresh and tasty. Food is casual but good quality - perfect for date night or hanging with friends. Not fancy, but that's exactly the vibe they're going for. Will return to explore more of their cocktail menu.
Cantik — Google review
Good spot in SF area. Good drinks with their own cocktail menu. The food was fire! I had the shrimp taco and they caught me by surprise how amazingly good they are!
Emmanuel R — Google review
ABV Bar in San Francisco is a hidden gem for spirits lovers. They’ve got super cool, fairly priced selections across the board—food, wine, beer, mezcal, bourbon, Japanese whisky, and scotch. The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating, which makes the vibe even better. If you’re a die-hard whisky nerd, I’d recommend bringing your own Glencairn glass, but otherwise, you’ll be thrilled—especially with the amazing old single cask Springbanks they pour at great prices.
Alexander K — Google review
Delightful neighborhood bar with an expansive menu of delicious cocktails, super friendly and attentive service, and cozy vibes. I dropped by ABV for a work happy hour on a Tuesday evening, and I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the space was. You're generally able to seat yourself, and we selected one of the large group high-tops in the back. They also have a lovely ring of seating around the bar and a few cozy wooden booths outside for other options. Their menu is quite extensive and is split by liquor type. They also have a great selection of low ABV and non-alcoholic drinks that were still quite tasty and beautiful, which I appreciated. I got their jumpstart (carrot, ginger, turmeric, lemon, and soda water), which was quite tasty. I definitely want to come back to try their some of their other non-alcoholic cocktails, particularly their N/A negroni. They also have a great food menu; we decided to split two orders of their fries, and I was quite impressed by how crispy they were -- definitely in the top decile of bar food I've tried.

Actually met the owner of this bar at Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant. We were very happy to be tipped off about this spot! Excellent cocktails, utmost service, cool vibe, great food. Would highly recommend.

Cocktail bar
Step into the enchanting world of Bourbon & Branch, a hidden gem that transports you back to the roaring 1920s. This unmarked bar, with its dimly lit ambiance and speakeasy charm, requires reservations for entry—an essential step to experience its allure. Once inside, you'll find yourself enveloped in an atmosphere reminiscent of Prohibition-era escapades, complete with secret tunnels that whisper tales of the past.
If you're looking for a fun, immersive experience that transports you straight back to the 1920s Prohibition era, this speakeasy-style bar is a must-visit. From the moment you arrive, it feels like you are stepping into a secret world. There's no sign - just a mysterious door and a doorbell. Ring it, give the password, and you're in. Reservations are required, and the exclusivity adds to the charm. Once inside, you're seated at a cozy table and handed an impressively large cocktail and spirits menu. My friend and I went on a Saturday night around 9:30pm and were surprised by how relaxed and uncrowded it was. The seasonal drink menu is incredibly creative, ad the staff were fantastic - patient, knowledgeable, and happy to walk us through the options. The service was top-notch, and the ambiance was spot-on for the era. Dim lighting, vintage decor, and a vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. I tried a few cocktails, but the standout for me was the Heavy Artillery - bold, balanced, and unforgettable. There are a few house rules that help preserve the experience: 1. Be discreet with cell phone usage 2. No flash photography and 3. Remain seated and enjoy the era. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would absolutely go back. It's not just a bar - it's an experience!
Rose C — Google review
Pretty cool spot! Speakeasy vibes from the time you approach the door to going in. Dark and moody. Huge selection of cocktails. Bartender was amazing and made an amazing Old Fashion. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Patrick H — Google review
One of the more well-known speakeasies in SF. you’ll need a password to get in (just make a reservation to get it). Cool concept, but honestly, I was expecting more. The drinks were average, the decor didn’t stand out, and the service was just okay. It feels like the hype is mostly around the “secret” entrance, not the actual experience. It’s a quiet spot, which makes it good for date nights, but there are definitely better bars in SF if you’re going for standout cocktails or atmosphere.
Pooya F — Google review
loved this place! super cute and intimate place (good date spot). also has good drinks (loved my cucumber something drink). nice quite vibe and cute books and candle ambiance. bartender was also very nice and friendly
Ananya M — Google review
This place is aesthetically amazing. I will say, the bartenders stay in character quite well, meaning they do their job and do not converse much. You will want to come to this place with somebody, not alone. The features and lighting make this place a must visit. Excellent drinks and a fun time!
Chris G — Google review
Absolutely amazing cocktails. I didn't like my drink as much I'd have hoped for so the bartender himself came to our booth to ask me what I am looking for and made some custom drinks for us - twice! He was very kind and made absolutely amazing drinks. I am so glad I ended up finally making it to the speak easy. Will definitely visit again. Our server was an extremely helpful and kind lady who ended up guiding us to the library as well. :) good day.
Yashash G — Google review
The entrance can be tricky — it’s not where the map shows. You’ll need to go around the corner near address 480, where a doorman will check your reservation password before letting you in. Inside, the atmosphere is fantastic with an extensive cocktail menu and a true hidden-bar vibe. We really enjoyed the experience, and it feels like a perfect spot for a date night. One thing to note: the area right outside has quite a few homeless people, as others have mentioned. Just be aware when arriving and leaving.
Yay H — Google review
I am a whiskey snob. Such a whiskey snob. We're talking Yamazaki, Hibiki, Highland Park, etc. and I prefer Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Neat. I also love speakeasy bars because I hate screens, I don't like to see monitors, none of that. I love the vibe, love the bartenders, love the service and the whole atmosphere because they actually make the socializing aspect way more immersive than a boring sports bar IMO. Service: very nice Reservation: better have one Dress code: not really, a little more business casual to match the vibes, but I prefer personally to get glammed up to pay honors and respect to the atmosphere and make those moments feel more special. Money left there: too much, but def worth it when you get your tastes matched.

Pagan Idol is a captivating tiki bar located in the heart of San Francisco, offering an immersive experience that transports visitors to an exotic island. The bar features stunning decor with impressive tiki statues and a mysterious ambiance. It's a haven for rum enthusiasts, boasting an exceptional selection of spirits from around the world, including rare and artisanal rums.
I absolutely love this little place. It’s so adorable and so cozy. I like the ambiance and the atmosphere makes you feel alive with a warm feel good vibe. We had a Banana Be, a Serpent and the Bird. We enjoyed our time together and the drinks! Service was excellent and the bartender seemed to know what he was doing so that’s always a plus. I hope you #enjoy yourself and don’t forget to add some extra tequila 🥰🤭. You won’t regret it.
Cynthia S — Google review
Adorable little tiki bar, that is way bigger on the inside than it seems. It has incredible decor and really strong drinks! Keep in mind, you need to order your own drinks at the bar and pick them up yourself. Kind of like a British pub.
Bijan S — Google review
Had a fantastic time at Pagan Idol! I ordered the My Thai cocktail, and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced with a tropical twist. The ambiance was unreal — moody lighting, Polynesian décor, and island vibes that instantly transported me somewhere exotic. What I loved most was the cool, laid-back atmosphere paired with soothing music — not too loud, just right for relaxing or chatting with friends. It's a drinks-only spot, but their creative cocktail menu more than makes up for the lack of food. Prices were very reasonable for a specialty cocktail bar in SF, and the staff was friendly and attentive. ✨ A perfect place to unwind — definitely recommend for anyone looking to escape into a tiki-inspired paradise for the evening
Sharmili R — Google review
Legit tiki bar in San Francisco. Located in the financial district, this place is true to form. We parked about a block away in a underground parking lot, pretty affordable for the area. The service was Swift and the place filled up pretty quickly. We arrived before 5 o’clock not long after four and we got lucky with enough room to sit. The decor was impressive. Solid spot for a first drink of the night.
Carl F — Google review
What a cool bar ... Step in and feel transformed to a different time and place. Makes you feel like you are in a pirate of the Caribbean movie and or are treasure hunting. The treasure hunting might only be in your cocktail but I'm sure as the night progresses the bottom of the glass will be hard to find. Cool vibe great decorations perfect tunes to set the vibe and solid mixology... Love it

Really a solid experience. They have done an amazing job on the decor, and the drinks are fantastic. Highly recommend giving them a try!
Mike B — Google review
We enjoyed a couple of delicious (and very strong) tiki drinks. The bar is very cool with great vibes and interior decor, and we had good service from our bartender. Although lowkey thought it was weird because he said he doesn’t drink or even taste the drinks when making them, but can’t complain because the drinks were great haha
Gladys S — Google review
A true escape from the everyday hustle of city life walking into Pagan Idol feels like stepping through a portal into another world entirely. You can tell this isn’t just a themed bar; it’s a labor of love that honors tiki culture with genuine respect and artistry. The cocktails are works of art in themselves.

Cocktail bar
Nestled in the heart of Chinatown, Li Po Cocktail Lounge is a beloved establishment that has stood the test of time. This no-frills bar draws in a vibrant mix of patrons eager to indulge in its renowned Chinese mai tais, which are both sweet and potent. The ambiance is charmingly rustic, featuring weathered paper lanterns and intricate wooden decor that tell stories of the past. As you sip your drink, you'll hear the lively sounds of liars dice adding to the bar's unique atmosphere.
Crazy night here. Met some friendly people. I recommend the beer deals. I didn't love my purple rain cocktail but honestly I had such a good time at this bar. It's a great, social environment. International crowd, not too young (I'm 40).
Alison C — Google review
Okay, so this is a Chinese dive bar at its fullest, super fun unique experience, but also the service is a little weak. They sequestered us to a corner and were oddly strict about it. I would 100% go back just because of its uniqueness and to show friends something unique but alone I don’t know if I would come back
Paul — Google review
Li Po Cocktail Lounge is exactly what you would expect from a dive bar in Chinatown, and that is part of its charm. The interior is a little worn but it works perfectly for a casual, laid back drink with friends. The Chinese Mai Tai is the signature drink here and definitely worth ordering. It is popular for a reason, with a smooth and tasty flavor, though for me personally it was not too strong as some other reviews mentioned. Service was quick and the atmosphere was easygoing. It is a fun stop if you are in the area and want something low key.
Peter F — Google review
A charming hole in the wall with delicious Mai Tais. The drinks were really good, but (at least for us) it was the kind of place to just grab one drink or two for the novelty and then move on to where you wanted to actually spend time. The bar only seating made it difficult for three people to have a conversation, but we all agreed it that we were glad we went.
Michael M — Google review
The Chinese Mai Tai is as potent as advertised. Whether it’s a good cocktail or not is questionable. You can probably make a better drink by mixing some liquor and liqueurs at home. This place has a unique vibe though. It’s worth visiting at least once for the experience.
Ben P — Google review
Sometimes you get very lucky while traveling. My sons and I decided to get a drink, randomly at Li Po. We sat next to a man that frequents Li Po when he is in town. He made us aware of Anthony Bourdain featuring it on his show. I could tell right away why he was taken by this bar. You get a retro vibe right away. The kind of bar that makes you feel comfortable. And MISS CONNIE!! 🔥 Her quick wit, style, and no-nonsense bar management made me her biggest fan. She will hit you with a sense of humor that is honestly missing in so many modern bars. Of course the Chinese Mai Tai is amazing. Go for the drinks, stay for the experience!
Tracy S — Google review
Great little dive bar with unbeatable prices. Highly recommend stop in for a quick drink. Heard the mai tai were also good, beer is $6 tho. Great service- bar tender 👌👌 Can’t pass up!

A nice local bar with a good atmosphere and well priced drinks. Drinks were pretty solid, but nothing super special. I heard that on Fridays and Saturdays It also has a club downstairs. We went on a Sunday and had some drinks for the vibe which was nice.

Restaurant
True Laurel, located in San Francisco's Mission District, is a stylish and innovative cocktail bar created by the team behind the renowned Lazy Bear restaurant. Led by David Barzelay and Nicolas Torres, True Laurel offers a unique experience with its inventive cocktails and refined bar bites. The menu features extraordinary blends of ingredients like clarified golden beet, gentian wine reduction, and black lime bitters in drinks such as 'The Golden Child' and 'Mai o Mai.'
I had low expectations going into this place, but wow everything exceeded expectations. We sat at the bar and ordered, In the Pines & Bobby-boo. IN THE PINES was the showstopper. The flavor was absolutely insane. I will definitely be back for this drink. We also ordered the woods mushrooms per our bartender's recommendation & they were delicious! Ambiance is modern & service was great. My favorite part is that the bill comes in The Giving Tree book! We had a great time and will definitely be back.

The best experience I had in a long time. I was looking for something unique and 100% I found it. Combination of flavours is on another level. The host was very welcoming. Everybody from there took a good care of us. High level of mixology, and a well deserved status of a good bar. Thank you!

Rare finding such a high-quality yet non-pretentious bar program! Quick service due to batched drink prep. Tastey bites and knowledge and A+ staff. Shout out to Jelly for being the absolute best, from sharing drink knowledge, quick/expert service, and cracking jokes!

I like the service here. They’re very prompt and friendly. We tried the non-alcoholic drinks and they were nice but quite pricy ($18). We were more interested in the food. We had the salad, patty melt, and chicken katsu. The salad was simple but done right. Simple ingredients and dressing, but quite enjoyable. The patty melt was interestingly delicious and fatty. Would be great if it comes with a simple side. The chicken katsu was great but huge! Keep in mind it’s not a sandwich, just a chicken katsu with ranch sauce and pickles.

Had the best time at True Laurel!! We went because of them being ranked one of the Top 50 bars in the US, and after my time spent here I can completely understand why. When we arrived a little less than an hour after they opened, they already had a packed house. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Jason. He exceeded all expectations with his knowledge of every cocktail, spirit, and origins of the drinks as a whole. Giving us a whole story behind every question we asked made us feel like we weren’t at a bar, but a class on the drinks they were serving. I was a bit car sick when we got out of the Uber, so I wasn’t in a rush to drink and asked for a soda. Their version of a soda that they made in house was a phenomenal combination of flavors which tastes like a tart, less carbonated kombucha. Besides that, the drinks were of course amazing. I am forgetting what everyone else had, but I had their Pea-casso. Such an interesting drink, and I say that with all the good things in mind. It tasted like a pickle-back cocktail, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The star of the show were the mushrooms. I have been craving them ever since. They were perfectly deep fried, had the most amazing sauce, and were seasoned so beautifully. Accidentally made this review longer than I thought, so long story short this is a MUST go. Thank you Jason for all of your hard work and dedication to serving us. We can’t wait to be back.

Oooooookay, this place will live in my head rent free. From the ambiance, service, food, drinks, and the vibe - there's nothing to not love. Their cocktails are AMAZING. My favorites were Quinine Cobbler (light, fruity, refreshing, and hydrating!), Melons Triple Lindy, and Bobby Boo-urns but you won't go wrong with any, really. As for the food, please please please try the Crispy Hen of the Woods Mushroom and thank me after. It's fried to perfection that you won't even know it's mushroom that you're eating. We'll absolutely need to be back to try the other scrumptious goodies but for now... au revoir

You should reserve, otherwise you will have to wait 1 hour. I just tried the cocktail and a couple of appetizers My favorite on was "In the pines under the palms" of you like old fashioned, you will love this one The appetizers portions are small, for 3 or 4 max people.

Went to True Laurel for drinks before dinner and loved it! I asked the bartender to make me something new with ginger — and they absolutely killed it. The drink was fresh, creative, and perfectly balanced. Such a chilled hangout spot — this has become my go-to place for drinks and 1-on-1 catch-ups. The vibe is relaxed, the interior design is beautiful, and the staff are super friendly. We walked in with no reservation (party of four) and still had an amazing experience. Never disappoints

Moongate Lounge is a stylish and lavish lounge located above the upscale Chinese restaurant, Mister Jiu's. The lounge features mid-century modern decor with a retro color palette and cushioned seating, creating a sexy and sophisticated ambiance. Guests can enjoy Chinese lunar calendar-inspired cocktails and organic wines while surrounded by moon gates throughout the space. With plush velvet booths and restored Chinese murals, this lounge offers a refuge from Chinatown's bustling streets.
Fun and vibey cocktail bar in the heart of Chinatown. The space is beautiful, perfect for either a small friend hang-out or a date. They have several cute little couches scattered throughout, as well as cozy booths for a more intimate, walled off ambiance. For walk-ins, they also have a number of standing cocktail tables around the bar and in the back by the live DJ. What really makes the ambiance special, though, is the giant moon gate in the back of the bar. It's absolutely beautiful and perfectly combines traditional Asian elements with the modern neon lighting, DJ set, and disco ball. The music is upbeat and just loud enough to set the mood, but the space is also open / quiet enough that it's easy to hold a good conversation without straining your ears. The drinks are also fantastic, with a great mix of classic cocktails and house specials. Their old fashioned was tasty, as well as their house grain rain, which was delightfully fruity and bubbly, but well-balanced and not overly sweet.

Super cool ambiance with DJ & Ambient lighting. Our service was great & drinks were super unique. Still thinking about the sesame foam. I would definitely come back here with a bigger group. It can get loud so not the best spot for intimate conversations. Nonetheless, cool spot!

Very interesting drinks + a lot of them are simply not vegan lol. If you’re looking for classic cocktail this may not be the place! they do have fun drinks though (mine was 99% ice as pictured). I got the Start of Spring and would give it a 5.7/10. The service was alight, they seemed very busy (it was quite busy hahah). Overall cool place and vibey music There is a bathroom.
Ananya M — Google review
Tucked away on the second floor of Mister Jiu’s in Chinatown, this bar exudes a sense of mysterious glamour. Velvet sofas bathed in purple lighting, paired with Chinese-style windows and doors, create an atmosphere that feels both dramatic and intimate. The space itself is generous — roomy enough to comfortably accommodate both seated guests and larger standing groups, making it suitable even for gatherings. We sampled the full lineup of house cocktails along with a few classics. The menu leans confidently into Chinese-inspired ingredients — baijiu, osmanthus, fennel, and longan all make appearances — resulting in a cocktail list that’s both inventive and culturally expressive. Among the standouts was Rainwater, a beautifully balanced drink with layered complexity, showcasing notes of longan, elderflower, and grapefruit. Start of Summer, an iced riff on the strawberry daiquiri infused with baijiu, offered a refreshing, playful twist. The bar’s approach to classic cocktails also reveals a spirit of reinterpretation — most notably in their Vesper, where a touch of crab oil brings out savory undertones and adds an unmistakable Asian sensibility to an otherwise traditional composition.
Luke Q — Google review
We both ordered very spirit forward cocktails but they were excellent. Fun cool vibes inside. The oysters were delicious. We also did the salt and pepper squid. It was a bit on salty side which got me drinking the cocktail a bit faster than I should have
Dianne N — Google review
This is one of the best bars in SF but my most recent experience wasn’t great. I went with someone who is lactose intolerant and the majority of their cocktails had lactose strangely. Also their front of house was confused over our reservation and a private event which was happening at the same time. We were able to come but they tried to turn us away at first despite already having a reservation.
Kaliska W — Google review
Stunning and spacious interior, great espresso martini, and loved the DJs they brought in the night I went! Wasn’t super busy on a Thursday night. Love that it’s more of a cushy/chill vibe.
Cynthia — Google review
"We arrived late, about an hour before closing, and were still able to enjoy the DJ and spacious dance floor. To order drinks, you'll need to head to the bar, as there aren't any waitstaff - just staff cleaning tables. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is great."

Johnny Foley's Irish House is a lively pub in San Francisco that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, hearty pub grub, and frequent live music and dueling piano shows. The staff is known for their excellent service, making visitors feel right at home. The cozy ambiance adds to the charm of the place, creating an ideal setting for winding down after work with a meal and conversation. The menu features delicious food such as bangers and mash, while the drinks are delightfully strong.
If you’re craving an Irish coffee served with genuine Irish hospitality, this is your spot. Whether you call it a pub or a bar, it’s excellent either way. Will behind the bar makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first visit. The Irish coffee was top-notch, and the vibe is perfect for kicking back and escaping the chaos. Highly recommend.

After a long flight, we decided to call by Johnny Foley’s Irish Bar for a quick drink and bar snack as it was close to our hotel. We were warmly welcomed on arrival by the hostess, who quickly showed us to a high table with tall chairs, which was perfect for a casual stop. Shortly after sitting down, our server arrived to take our drinks order and was friendly and efficient. Our drinks came out quickly, and we decided to keep it simple with a portion of garlic fries, even though the menu had plenty of great choices that looked tempting. It didn’t take long for the fries to arrive, and they were exactly what we expected, a really generous portion that was easily big enough to share and more like British chips rather than French fries, just how we like them. The bar itself had a good atmosphere, with good music playing and plenty of TVs showing different sports. Overall, it was a lovely first stop in San Francisco, and we would definitely consider returning for a proper meal next time.

As somewhat of an Irish bar connoisseur this place is legit. It has the feel of being in Ireland! We stopped in several times during our trip for a night cap. The drinks were well made and the service was outstanding. I'd highly recommend the cottage pie!

My wife and I visited here on a recent trip to San Francisco from Buffalo, NY. This is truly an Irish pub with a great pub atmosphere. We had Smithwick's Irish Red Ale with broccoli and cheddar soup, Irish potato skins and a serving of prawns. The food was delicious and well worth it. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable. We recommend this and look forward to coming here again.

Popped into Johnny Foley’s for a nightcap and dessert and had such a great time! We tried the Irish Soda Bread & Butter Pudding with Caramel & Bailey’s Custard Sauce—it was absolutely delicious. Rich, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a relaxed night out. Definitely want to come back to try more of their Irish dishes like shepherd’s pie and the classic fish and chips with mushy peas. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great spot for a traditional Irish food and drinks

Absinthe Brasserie & Bar is an elegant Parisian-style establishment that has been a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts since its opening in 1998. The venue offers a romantic ambiance with plush chairs and hand-painted murals, evoking the charm of a Parisian brasserie. Known for its French-Mediterranean cuisine and creative cocktails, Absinthe provides excellent service and ample outdoor seating where pets are welcome.
I recently dined at Absinthe in Hayes Valley, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is charming and cozy, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion or a casual night out. What truly stood out was the attentive service. Our server and server assists were all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. They checked in on us just the right amount, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food was exceptional! I highly recommend trying their stand out dishes, the duck breast with truffle accompaniment, steak and the truffle burger all bursting with flavor. Overall, Absinthe is a gem in San Francisco located in the great Hayes valley neighborhood With its fantastic service and delicious cuisine,

I will eat here every time I visit San Francisco. The flavors were out of this world, the price point was reasonable for the experience, and we didn’t leave hungry. I got the peach salad, which I could eat every day, and the two people I was dining with got the onion soup and cucumber soup, both who raved about theirs. We split an escargot dish which was a pastry with really delicate flavors. We all three ordered the pan seared duck breast, which was phenomenal. Each of us had a cocktail, mine being an absinthe drink. Wasn’t my favorite but I figured I should try it as part of the experience. All in all, between a split appetizer, a soup/salad each, a drink, and an entree, we spent about $100 each plus tip. Really not bad!

We arrived at the restaurant right when it opened at 11:30, which turned out to be a great decision—perfect timing before the crowds. We got a cozy table for two, and our waitress was exceptionally polite and friendly, making us feel very welcome. For our meal, we ordered the duck confit and the burger, both of which were absolutely delicious and generously portioned. The highlight, however, was the chilled mussels we had as a starter—they were incredibly fresh and sweet, an unexpected delight. On top of the great food, the prices were very reasonable for lunch, making it an excellent value. I would definitely recommend this place and plan to bring my friends here next time!

Found this wonderful off the wall place on the way back to the Bart station. TOO bad we had already eaten. Absinthe fountain included in the experience. I wish I had had the experience at the beginning of the trip. The trip was planned around a stop at Dark Garden corsetry on Linden Street. OK, maybe not. After the absinthe green fairy, I might have bought more bespoke corsetry! The staff at Absinthe was awesome, very attentive. We are currently finding a way to be back for the oysters.
Melody L — Google review
For being a local, this was my first time at Absinthe. I always wanted to come, just never the right day or it was too busy. The food was excellent. I recommend the Birds of a Feather, salade lyonnaise, and the beef bourguignon. The tartare, escargot, pan roasted duck breast, and steak frites are also just as good. Ethan S., our server, was the best. He's a local San Franciscan from the Outer Sunset who went to Galileo. He knew we had a lot to drink and gave us aspirin to combat the booze.
Matthew T — Google review
We celebrated my husband's birthday here last night. Ethan took great care of us - very knowledgeable about the menu and gluten-free options. He made the night very special with gifts of dessert and espresso. Our wine steward, Francisco was also very kind and helpful. The beef tartare, beef bourguignon, and duck were beautifully presented and delicious.

I was grabbing dinner with a friend, but man did it feel like I was going on a very romantic date. It was busy even on a Wednesday, but the setting was fairly intimate and private and you didn't feel bothered. I had the Birds of a Feather as well as the sole with pureed potatoes and it was absolutely delicious. Good service too. Great first experience, but I will hopefully be a regular and update based on my repeat experiences.

Nestled in a cozy alley near Union Square, The Irish Bank is a charming Irish bar offering an array of pub grub and an extensive selection of whiskeys. This hidden gem provides a delightful experience with its classic Guinness and Smithwicks, along with various imported and local beers, cocktails, and wines. The menu features traditional dishes like the Irish breakfast served daily until 3 pm.
Came here because we were with a very large group. They have large tables outside. Inside there are table tops and bar seating. There were 2 different sports channels playing which is nice. They had a Jameson deal so I had that on the rocks. Food wise, the fish and chips were fried well but did retain a bit too much oil for me. Sheppards pie was good and a decent portion.
E L — Google review
Good flavor on the Reuben, but it should've had twice as thick of slices on the bread and three times as much corned beef in my opinion. Felt like my lunch was 90% curly fries. They were good curly fries though, thankfully.
Joshua B — Google review
Cool Irish pub with two indoor rooms and a large outdoor seating area in the alley. I loved the historical photos that decorate the walls and the overall cozy ambience. Bartender even had an Irish accent 😊. Long menu for food and drinks, with a good selection of pub fare reasonably priced.
Laura — Google review
The place was clean and the staff friendly enough although at times it did seem they were more interested in each other’s conversation than the customers. I had the Shepards Pie which was under seasoned and a bit bland, might have been nice to have a bread roll served with it for the prices. Probably wouldn’t eat here again.

Great bartender. Everyone was friendly. The Chicken Curry was so good, I ordered a second.

Cool dimly lit bar in Chinatown. They serve up a good margarita and decent food. Great for a pit stop or to hang on a rainy day.

This is my second review ever but I felt it was absolutely necessary. If you're looking for upscale dining and a fancy San Francisco experience, this isn't it. This isn't your cup of tea and you should take your delicate palate elsewhere. However! If you're looking for an off the grid, back alley Irish pub this place is exactly what you need. Came in for a late lunch. Seat yourself and watch some football while the bartender did his thing with other guests. The bartender's name was Connor and he as well as half the patrons had an Irish accent. I grabbed a local IPA and the fish and chips. As someone from the Boston area I was greatly impressed with the quality of the food and would easily recommend this dish to everyone. You don't come here because you're looking for an experience, you come here become it feels like home.

Very solid Irish bar - as you would expect it to be. Loud, busy and crowded. Service is attentive and has a sarcastic note to it - as it should be in a place like this. I was surprised by the variety of cocktails with an Irish twist e.g. the Irish mule. They had live music one night when I was there, made it even more Irish ;) . Overall good recommendation for a sports bar & grill.

Verry good service, also the nonalcoholic Guinness was delicious!! The chicken wings on the other hand (in my opinion) were not good. I thought that it burned a hole in my stomach...the sauce was a disaster, it smelled really strong of vinegar...but then again it depends on your preference

May 2025 Cali resto bar along trendy Union St provides three separate areas - semi al fresco, indoor, and a pool room / bar section. Food is a mix of Cali carribean style cuisine much that of the Westcoast vibe and flavours. Lunch service staff was pretty lean but accomidating and prompt. As mentioned the place is very casual. Bright at the entrance and dark in the pool room area. The bar counter is at the mid section. Each section best serves different types of diners and times but overall its more as a social place and bar feel.

This place is definitely a vibe, great spot on Union Street if you’re in the mood for drinks. The cocktails were delicious (loved the piña colada!), but smaller than expected, they do have those giant drinks if you’re going all in. On the food we tried the fried rice and island breakfast, both were solid, but nothing standout. The real draw here is the fun, tropical decor and unique energy that sets it apart from the usual Union Street spots.

I came to visit Palm House ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY when I made the reservation I included that in my request no greeting no happy birthday from the staff (poor customer service #1). Immediately getting there I was excited because the place WAS cute! But the issue was once seated I was told everything was self served so no waiter. When my food came out it was cold and the seasoning on the fries was not there like I ordered and the drink was like juice barely any alcohol taste to it and when I paid for my bill I totally forgot to tip! I’m a huge tipper even the circumstance of having to order my own food and then just bringing it to me. But I was in a rush for my movie date so I left abruptly. Do you know 2 days after leaving SF and going home the charge their own tip to my card when they processed all the bills! I was pissed because not only was the service garbage and the people were stale in energy I was over charged for my meal by them deliberately taking a tip. Terrible experience because I understand me not tipping but it wasn’t my intent but to make my birthday and experience where I can’t trust this establishments professionalism that was too much too bad I will never go back! And the chicken sandwich was MID! nothing spectacular about it just some gentrified kids in the neighborhood over charging for lack luster experience.

The decor in here is amazing, it’s a place that makes you feel like you are not in a big city! It feels tropical and the vibes are fun, lots of good music and decor is amazing. Food is great, as are drinks, would definitely recommend the pina colada. The drinks are also pretty strong!! We thought the drink price was worth the drink for sure. Some food portions were pretty small, but the prices are good! Service is order over the phone and they deliver food and drinks I am sure they get busy.

I came here with a fellow foodie to try the SF Restaurant Week dinner menu on the weekend. We had a reservation, but they informed us that they had already sold out of the items. Unfortunately, there wasn't an option to reserve spots specifically for the SF Restaurant Week set meal. While we were disappointed that we couldn't try the items on the special menu, we found several other items on their online menu, available via QR code on the table, that sounded good. We tried the brussels sprouts and coconut shrimp as appetizers and got the pineapple fried rice as our main dish to share. All the food was great and priced fairly. What's nice about the online menu is it allows you to request certain ingredients of the dishes be put on the side and even split the check with other dinner guests. This place gets an A+ for service and efficiency. The only issue other than the SF Restaurant Week menu not being available was the high level of noise inside the restaurant. I sometimes had to yell a bit to talk to my friend, so it would've been nice if things were a bit quieter. I think next time I would opt to eat outdoors when it's warmer, as it seems calmer, and the outdoor patio in front of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and gives a vacation vibe.

A proper london gin bar in SF with british flavored food to pair. We has the burger and fish and chips, and both were reminiscent of pubs we had eaten at in the UK. Found this on Google searching for great cocktails in SF while helping my son apartment hunt. Entrance is on the corner and tucked away. We were not sure if we were at the right spot when uber dropped us off. Sausage flatbread was very marginal (4/10) but kept us from starving. Service was top notch (10/10). We had 3 drinks. Gin Gimlet, Blackberry Bramble, and Unsainted. Unsainted was the most interesting and unique. Gimlet was solid. Bramble is the least favorite. Very cool vibe in the bar. Definitely would recommend a stop if in the area.

Very interesting decor. Waitstaff was slim. Not very attentive. Admittedly I'm not a fan of gin so not their target audience for sure. The flat bread was definitely too dry from being over cooked in the oven as evidenced by the crispy burnt salami "chips". The octopus was so so with some generic flavored taco chips. The most delicious thing was actually the veggie slider. The sauce in that patty bun concoction was quite delicious. All in all a pleasant experience. It might be more interesting if your a gin aficionado. Cool decor nonetheless.

I love gin and had been wanting to try this place for so long. It did not disappoint! Endless gin cocktail selections! I liked shikoku G&T the most. It's citrusy (yuzu) and refreshing. Interior is subway-station inspired.

An absolute must try spot for both people exploring classic gin cocktails and those looking for fresh new creations. The Barrel Gin Old Fashioned is a fantastic take on the classic cocktail - it’s light and orangy but with hints of juniper and citrus!

They have over 730 gins on their list and it's amazing! My boyfriend and I came here while visiting San Francisco from LA because of a recommendation and it was well worth it. I had a flight of "irregular" gins that were made with botanicals outside the norm, like Oriental spices or tomato. Then I had the most perfect gimlet I've ever ordered and amazing clover club. My boyfriend drank some of the original cocktails, including the Phantom Drift and the Spanish G&T. The service was amazing, although we didn't catch our female bartender's name. 10/10 highly recommend, would go again anytime!

I was pleasantly surprised with this bar; I've heard it is amazing, but I never was a huge gin fan but their drinks were actually good. The food was decent too. Great atmosphere. Ofc it's a bit pricey but nothing far out of the ordinary for a specialty bar in SF. The only other complaint is it's right off Turk so your walk to BART is pretty bad, ladies especially shouldn't make that walk alone at night.
Yara B — Google review
As a gin drinker, this place was a dream. I loved trying a couple of favorites (aviation, Ramos gin fizz) that I've had many different places and the versions at Whitechapel were top notch. I also tried a couple of their originals and tried a new drink (I had a friend with me, so don't worry, we were sharing, I didn't have 6 or 7 drinks). This place blew my mind and I'll be taking a cross country trip again one day JUST to go drink gin here again.

The monthly events calendar showcases diverse offerings such as Motown Mondays and Rock Piano series. This eclectic venue provides a platform for cultural and musical expression with themed dance nights and artsy events like figure drawing.
A great neighborhood music venue on Divisadero, Always a good time. I didn't eat there but food looked and smelled good. The entertainment was fabulous. Eric McFadden and RonKat Spearman from P funk made a special appearance along with other fine musicians.

Madrone Art Bar we attended Fringe night, the glowing cat ears and the music with visuals was definitely a unique experience in a vast sea of options in San Franciscos nightlife. It was really fun dancing around inside the bar with friends and the outside smoking area was both perfect for chilling and meeting new friendly faces. I'm not sure about their other theme nights but I'm certain that I'll be back for Fringe night.

Super fun drinks and an amazing atmosphere! Really great vibes to dance to all night. Definitely recommend MOTOWN MONDAYS!

It looked fun, loved the bar and outdoor set up but too crowded. We couldn't hear or talk. Great music selection. I wish the venue was bigger. Definitely a popular place though! $5 per person to get in. I think we may just be a bit too introverted for it.
Lyss — Google review
I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to Madrone for years. The last time I went, probably 3 months ago now (which is how long it’s taken me to gather the courage to write this) it was a busy Saturday night & immediately after paying the cover & entering, a man in a beige suit sexually assaulted me. I was in shock, but my friend who was with me took me up to the bouncer to tell him what happened & get the patron who had assaulted me removed. The man was wearing a suit and sunglasses, so he was incredibly easy to point out on the security cameras, which I did. The bouncer said they’d handle it. I thought at the very least they’d refund my cover, which they didn’t. I waited in their outdoor area watching for the man to get kicked out for 30 minutes before I decided to leave. Nothing was done by the bouncer in that time. Some friends of mine stayed behind and said the man who assaulted me wasn’t removed until over an hour later, after he inappropriately touched several other women in the bar & a man finally yelled at the the bouncer to do something. I’m sure I wasn’t the only woman there who was assaulted & tried to get the bouncer to eject the creep. They didn’t take any action until a man asked them to. I haven’t been back since & won’t ever go back again. It’s a bummer because I had a lot of fun times at Madrone prior to this. Really disappointing handling of this situation.

This is a really fun place to go dancing. Drinks are normal fare but the interiors are lovely, as are the music / general vibes / even their band / musicians. Also apparently very fun on Mondays.
Sameera P — Google review
All the times I have been here have been after the restaurant hours, when the club starts going. So I have never tried their food. But the drinks definitely leave to be desired when compared to similarly priced drinks in other venues. Don't even dare try a mocktail, you'll be paying for the same price of a drink for some soda with syrup. The space itself is nice and can be a good spot to dance a bit. If you arrive before the party starts (usually starts at 9pm), you don't have to pay the $10 entrance fee.
Wolf F — Google review
Had several delicious drinks made by Chris. I had the Beat Guess, Steve McQueen and Sam Spade in that order. We arrived when it opened so it was empty and I was able to check out all the various items throughout the bar. Super kitsch; loved it. We weren't there long enough for any live music but I think the vibe is probably great for an open mic or small acoustic set.

Pacific Cocktail Haven, also known as PCH, is a stylish and lively bar that offers elevated cocktails, punch bowls, beer, and wine in a dramatic setting. After being destroyed in 2021, the bar has reopened in a new location near Union Square with the same signature bartending style of owner Kevin Diedrich. The menu features creative drinks with Asian ingredients like red beans, miso, calamansi, and lychee.
PCH was on our list of bars to hit during this trip to the city. What a fantastic choice we made! "T", our bartender, was awesome. Engaging, super knowledgeable, and just a pleasure to talk to. Made the visit THAT more enjoyable! Incredible craft cocktails here at Pacific Cocktail Haven! If you're in San Francisco, you need to stop by. Opens at 5pm...

Stopped by on a Sunday night and it did not disappoint. The place was lively with great music and a fun crowd. The bartenders were friendly, the service was on point, and the drinks were creative and well-made. Definitely a solid spot if you're looking for a high-energy cocktail bar with a great vibe.

What a beautiful bar - bumping on a Saturday night. My favorite thing is the beautiful gated front patio seating, on both sides, there’s seating for groups and or small groups. The don’t patio is surrounded by living plant walls, which is gorgeous! Inside is very lovely but depending on what your scene is, it can be too crowded. The 3 of us enjoyed the fresh air and gated front patio. Fun crafted drinks and attentive service.

Came on a Thursday evening and there was no wait. Our party of 4 had 3 drinks each, and they were all phenomenal! Standouts were the numb and number, silky street, and pornstar martini. Service was fast, and our server made great recommendations!

Came at 5:30pm on a Monday and was sat at the Counter. Bartenders (I believe John was one of them) were very attentive and interactive, but not intrusive Got so snug we ended up with more drinks than expected and a few bonus tasters :) Super appreciative and impressed with the bar program here and their efforts to highlight ingredients from all corners of the Asian continent. Wish I had more time during this trip, but highly recommend to pay em a visit 🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍

A must if you visit SF and enjoy cocktails. They have a long list of drinks and everyone would find one that they would enjoy. It gets crowded, but we were able to find seats a little late into the night. Definitely a younger vibe, but not a crazy crowd.

If you're not on a budget, and enjoy unique cocktails, then this place is for you. Visiting from Seattle, this bar was recommended as a place to try in the downtown SF area. Going on a Tuesday evening, it was not busy at all. We stuck with the Whiskey section of the menu, trying the Tropical Gangsta, Kung Fu Panda and Thrilla in Manila. I'd say out of those three, the Thrilla in Manila was my favorite. If I go back to SF, I'll surely visit this place again.
Alexander D — Google review
This was our first stopping place of the night, and it was a great place to begin. We came shortly after they opened and were able to snag a section. They have both interior and exterior seating. The interior is well designed and doesn't make it feel small. They have a great selection of spirits and cocktail list. I had the Malty By Nature, which was a japanese single malt based and a little more on the spirit forward side, but tasty. My friend had their Thrilla in Manilla, and that had more of a refreshing taste. The staff here were friendly and attentive. I would come back here again to try more of their drinks.

Eclectic restaurant
The Alembic is a popular bar and restaurant located in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. With its dimly lit, rustic space and cozy booths, it offers a classic handcrafted cocktail experience alongside an inventive bar food menu. The establishment has gained recognition over the years for its expertly curated spirits selection and cocktails, earning spots on various best bars lists. The drink menu features a mix of strong classics and changing drinks that often utilize craft and small batch spirits.
We live in the Inner Richmond, and were excited to hear about the Alembic being just a short walk away over on Haight. Immediately as we stepped in off Haight we were surprised. Despite the fairly nondescript exterior, the inside was very classy with a beautiful wooden bar and black tin ceiling. The drinks were excellent! I started with the Night Market while my partner started with the Golden Child. The Night Market was super effervescent, and provided a nice punch with the cucumber, chili, and lemongrass coming together to linger on the palette nicely after each sip. The Golden Child was very interesting also, with a softer and subtler flavor profile. For the second round, I got the Playground Love while my partner got the Blue Velvet. The Blue Velvet had a nice rounded blueberry taste, but the Playground Love was my favorite of the night. I was pleasantly surprised at how forward the milk tea flavor came through, and the pistachio and rhubarb provided a nice rounded flavor as well. With how good the cocktails were, we are now really interested in checking out one of their mixology classes. We'll be back to get the summer cocktails again before they're gone!

love the cocktails here. tried the ‘good soup’ cocktail which is inspired by tom yum soup and it was great! when you sit in the park let they serve everything in plastic cups. Obviously doesn’t change the flavor but the cocktails just didn’t feel as elevated. Totally get why they don’t want glassware out there though. The polenta fries are a MUST order. The buffalo wings were also great, love their bleu cheese. A great spot to check out on haight street for craft cocktails and bites!

With its commitment to social change, local arts, and music, El Rio offers a welcoming atmosphere for everyone, including pets in both indoor and outdoor areas.
My favourite bar in the world! The best people work and come here. Kareokiki is so fun, everyone gets a chance to be a star 💖 and we love a bar where you have lots of space to dance!!!! The drinks are so good. And the water station is so accessible with a sign that tells you to drink water so I actually stayed properly hydrated!!! Happiest place on earth💞💞💞 Queer icons out the wazoo 💃

If I could give 0 stars I would. I came in to visit my sister for her bachelorette party. Most of us are gay or bi which normally wouldn’t be relevant but when we got off our party bus they asked if we were gay and then said we don’t let people in with party buses. Then they proceeded to tell us that it was normally a $15 cover but for us specifically it will be $30. When we asked if there was someone we could speak to they were all very rude and disrespectful. Never in my life. Don’t come here. They’re discriminatory. Because apparently if you don’t look gay enough you aren’t allowed in. Didn’t realize that, even in this climate you had to write, “I’m gay” on your shirt for you to be let in.
Alexis C — Google review
Didn't try the food, but drinks were delish. The bartenders working were also sweet and accommodating! The vibes when coming in were okay at first, but walking out to the open back patio, it was such a cool place. We started our night here to pre game and chill, and that we did! The heaters outside were perfect, especially for a cold SF night. Many queer folk around made it a super welcoming space. Would come again!

Very run down and cramped little bar. It has a slightly bigger outdoor section. Poor ventilation in both indoor areas. The restrooms always smells, its dark and dirty. The only good thing is it's LGBT friendly. The door person is usually friendly, depending on who. Nestled in the vibrant Hayes Valley, Anina is a delightful cocktail lounge that embodies an airy, island-inspired vibe. With its colorful Moroccan-tiled bar and lush floral wallpaper, this spot offers a refreshing escape from the typical cocktail scene. The menu features an array of light aperitifs and low-alcohol drinks centered around Sherry and vermouth, perfect for those sunny afternoons. Signature cocktails like the Logroni showcase a harmonious blend of flavors that are both sweet and slightly bitter.
Loved the vibe of the place. It was jampacked on a Friday night. Thankfully, they were some seating outside, so we could grab some seat. The cocktails were great and also not as pricy as I was expecting them for San Francisco. I can’t recall what I got, but it was something herbal, and it was fantastic. I’m not sure if they have food because we didn’t really order any. The service was swift. Overall, a great place to grab cocktails.
Suman H — Google review
This place is a complete joke. They take themselves way too seriously for what it actually is—an overpriced, overrated spot trying desperately to feel exclusive. Everything is ridiculously marked up: $10 for a basic beer? $78 for a punch bowl that tastes like watered-down juice? You’d expect top-tier service and atmosphere for those prices, but instead, you get pretentious vibes and staff who act like they’re doing you a favor by even acknowledging your presence. And let’s talk about the so-called “vibe.” There’s a guy who looks like a washed-up surfer—clearly trying to hold onto some long-lost youth—who was beyond rude. He hovered around us all night trying to make us feel like we didn’t belong, despite the fact that we had already dropped a decent amount of money on drinks. His passive-aggressive attitude and weird energy were not only unprofessional but downright pathetic. It’s almost like he gets off on making people feel uncomfortable so he can play gatekeeper at a place that, frankly, isn’t worth guarding. Save your money and go somewhere that actually appreciates its customers and knows how to run a business without the ego trip. This spot is all hype, no heart, and an overpriced waste of time. Avoid it.
Nick J — Google review
We stopped in Anina during our first time exploring Hayes Valley and found their large outdoor patio super inviting. Although they were super busy and only had two bartenders on staff, both bartenders were super friendly and attentive and provided great service. This place has a nice low key vibe and their reasonable prices for cocktails with good ingredients is a plus also. My partner ordered the Vernal Pools while I got the Fool's Gold. The Vernal Pools had a nice combination of flavors with the tequila, apple, ginger and chili coming together nicely, although the drink didn't have as much of a heat kick as we were expecting. The Fool's Gold was also nice and refreshing, with the whisky, turmeric, ginger, and Benedictine providing a nice light but also complex flavor.
Cody J — Google review
Amazing patio and in the heart of Hayes Valley! The punch bowl and outdoor space is so fun for groups.
Cheryl C — Google review
Incredibly rude bartender/ manager Lauren who profiled me immediately when I walked in and took a seat, demanding that she see my ID if I wanted to be in the restaurant at all. When I calmly expressed a desire to wait for my friend as I was just getting settled and would show her my ID in a bit, as I had not even looked at the drink menu or expressed an intention to order yet, she demanded that I leave. I expressed discomfort with the way she approached me. And she rolled her eyes, turned her back towards me and walked away. An entire group of individuals walked in at the same time as me, and not a single one was demanded to show their ID within the first minute that they walked in. Of note, non of these individuals were people of color. I am. Would not recommend this establishment, there are several other nicer bars with bartenders in the area who display basic decency and do not profile their customers, moreover in such a rude manner. If you’re going to demand IDs for customers to even be in the restaurant, do it at the door and expect that from everyone to eliminate bias and overt racism. Period.

Got a great Manhattan. Bartenders were fantastic. Atmosphere was ok. I never know how to rate places like this. If you're expecting a high end cocktail bar like bourbon and branch, this isn't it. That's what I was expecting based on the reviews, hence my rating. It was good, no complaints, but if you want something swanky this isn't it. Whilst exploring the great city of San Francisco we called by the Little Shamrock for a well deserved refreshment. It was a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly a little quiet, which actually made it a nice spot to relax for a while. The person behind the bar welcomed us warmly and kindly took our drinks orders, making us feel comfortable straight away. We also ordered a packet of crisps, yes, crisps not chips, which was met with a friendly understanding, which we really appreciated considering where we are from. The bar itself has a great selection of drinks, and we noticed a fun little darts area as well as some board games to keep yourself entertained. Overall, a really nice and laid back bar to take a break during a busy day of sightseeing.

This is a Historic Lounge. Its a second oldest Lounge in SF since 1893. I didn't know about it when me and my friends visited it for the first time few years back. During our first visit we just randomly found this place as it was opened till late. It has couches and was very cozy so we really liked this place. After long time we recalled this place and wanted to go again. We tried searching it but couldn't find. They take cash so there wasn't any credit card transaction to find the name of this place. I tried searching lounges and bars on google but this place name never showed up. Then after few years I decided to drive to SF and search this place. I drove by all near by streets but couldn't find and was disappointed. Then finally I went to one restaurant (from where we searched this lounge previously) and yelped for lounges. I looked at all the nearby lounge pictures and in one of them I saw couches. So I suspected that it should be that lounge only. I drove there and as soon as I entered I was so happy to finally found it. I immediately ordered Gimlet. They have the best Gimlet. I sat on the couch and searched about this place. I found out that its the 2nd oldest lounge in SF since 1893. There was a huge earthquake in 1906 and this place survived it. There was one clock in this lounge which stopped ticking in that earthquake. They still have that clock. Its really awesome lounge and reasonable price. Its cash only and they have atm inside.

One of my favorite bars in the city. Stunning vintage pub interior with an expansive outdoor area for sunny SF days. Atmosphere is electrifying on game days. Also can’t go wrong with they’re amazing Irish coffee!

It's a step about a dive bar with good food and nice well to do locals. Our server was always attentive to our groups needs. Safe place to drink. Live music sometimes. There is a north beach public parking lot about 2 blocks away across from cop shop.enjoyable place to meet friends for a drink

Have been coming here forever. It's so good! Freddy behind the bar is awesome. This is the singularly BEST place to watch the game and grab a bite in North Beach. Food is terrific. Prices are reasonable for both food and cocktails. Best of all, they turn the volume up for games. Try the prime rib sandwich, the jalapeno burger, and the chicken sandwich and the salad All were freshly made and delicious.

The Plough and Stars is a popular Irish bar in San Francisco that offers great live music most nights. It is a great place to enjoy a pint and listen to Celtic music, making it one of the unique aspects of San Francisco.
This is a great Irish bar. The bartenders are friendly, the Guinness is truly a perfect pint, and they have lots of live music. I loved the look of the place, and the decorative details. Worth the trip. They don't serve food, but you can buy packages of chips or bring in takeout from one of the nearby restaurants across the street. We stayed for the Irish traditional music jam, and it was wonderful.

Small but cozy pub with very attentive staff. Went for the live music, stayed for the drinks and good times. 🍻 No tickets but there is an entry fee at the door once the music begins. You can check the website to see a calendar of events and times. Definitely visiting again.

Stumbled in after dinner a few days ago to keep the after dinner energy going. $5 cover for 4 of us to enter since they had a band playing. We were totally sticking out like sore thumbs but didn't receive any looks or hate. Gotta love SF for all that it accepts. Funny juxtaposition that we ended up here and ordering tequila shots haha. Stayed for the band which was a vibe and totally not what you'd find in my headphones but keeping an open mind will ensure you have fun anywhere.

Excellent Irish bar that pours a proper pint of Guinness. Steel tip darts, pool and (often) live music as well.

Went for the Irish set dancing on Thursday nights. Wooden dance floor, friendly bartender, no food served but they seem to allow outside food and snacks brought not only by us dancers. I cannot comment on their drinks selection because, surprise, I'm not drinking alcohol anymore but they have some good non-alcoholic options at the bar that I like, ginger ale or this sort of raspberry flavored soda water. I also love the pool table in front, I don't play, but it mixes up the vibe.

The Felix is a trendy new bar located in San Francisco, brought to you by the creators of Bodega SF. This speakeasy-inspired lounge offers a unique entrance through a framed photo leading downstairs. The ambiance is reminiscent of old Hong Kong movies with its neon vibes and Asian-inspired decor. The space features neon red lights, yellow booths, and a small dance floor with a DJ playing hip hop music.
Always a wonderful experience. My favorite thing about Felix are the DJ’s! Always 10/10

asian inspired speakeasy! the vibes were nice and loved the music they played. friendly bartenders/ waiters. a lot of interesting cocktails and i liked the cucumber one a lot! price ranges from ~10-17 per drink

HOT! and not in a good way! The club was smoldering hot, like 85-90° with rigged floor AC units pumping into what seems to be the broken AC. $10 cover for a no name DJ Drinks were WAY overpriced. $20+ for a basic margarita is insane and they didn’t even have salt for the rim. WHAT BAR DOESN’T HAVE SALT? Could have potential but fails as a speak easy / hidden club with the majority being 20 year old college kids.

Loved the atmosphere of The Felix, it reminded us of the old Hong Kong movies with the neon vibes and Asian inspired decor. My party got to the space quite early and got our pick of seats to which we loved the mahjong table. The cocktails were very fun and we all enjoyed the ones we ordered. We also ordered two servings of their pho(?) Chex mix which was fantastic to munch on. Something that we all agreed it would be fun to try and recreate as a snack! As the place filled up, the staff were a little less attentive than we would have liked and we really had to flag down our waiter a couple times but given that it is still a pretty new joint, hopefully this will improve.

I really wanted to check out this speakeasy concept from the Bodega folks, as their restaurant is very tasty, and it did not disappoint! Walked in through the “trap door” and def got some wong kai Wai vibes complete with a DJ spinning tracks! The Buena Vista, a historic cafe established in 1916, is located at the end of the Hyde Street cable-car line. It's renowned for introducing Irish coffee to the United States in 1952 and continues to attract both locals and tourists seeking a taste of history. The cozy interior features a long bar where skilled bartenders expertly prepare the signature Irish coffee using Tullamore D.E.W.
My supervisor recommended i stop by and try the Irish Coffee and it was amazing. Bold and not overly sweet, it was just right. It was packed, but service was still friendly and fast. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the corned beef hash with poached eggs and it was perfect. The sourdough toast was the best. I stop by if you get the chance, it's worth it.

Cute spot for great views, excellent service, and delicious food. We all got the clam chowder in the bread bowl and gobbled up the whole thing. I love the whole vibe of the place and it is very reasonably priced for the area. Doesn’t feel too touristy while so many things around the area do. It’s always packed so you know it’s probably pretty good. Will be back when I’m in town again!

This place is a must visit on so many fronts when on the waterfront in San Francisco. A couple is the food for breakfast or lunch and their Irish Coffee experience. The Irish Coffees are a special free pour and is served hot with quite the bite. The places buzzes all day long with patrons for a meal and a beverage. The staff are well tuned to the atmosphere and remain engaged and friendly. Glad we visited, and had a bite to eat and a special coffee. It was instrumental to the enjoyment had at Fishermen's Wharf and the Embarcadero waterfront promenade.

If you’re looking for a historic San Francisco experience, The Buena Vista is an absolute must-visit. This place is legendary for a reason, they serve the original Irish Coffee, and it's a perfect blend of rich, hot coffee, sweet whiskey, and a decadent cream top. The atmosphere is always buzzing with people from all over the world, and the bartenders are masters of their craft, making a show out of every drink. It’s more than just a drink; it's a tradition, a warm and comforting treat that perfectly captures the city's charm. This place is a true San Francisco institution.
Tensai G — Google review
The Irish coffee here totally lives up to the hype. Watching the bartenders line up the glasses and pour everything with perfect timing is half the fun—it’s like its own show. The cream floats perfectly, you get that kick of whiskey, and it’s super smooth and rich. The place has that classic San Francisco bar vibe—old-school wood interior, bar stools, warm lighting. Yeah, it’s a tourist spot, but it’s got real character and history (it’s been around since 1916!). Plus, the location is great—right by Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghirardelli Square—so it’s an easy stop while you’re walking around the area. Definitely worth it for the drink and the atmosphere. Oh and don’t forget to ask for one Togo

Nestled within the elegant Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill, the Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar is a sprawling tiki-themed lounge that offers Pacific Rim cuisine and tropical drinks. This iconic establishment was originally an indoor pool at the hotel but was transformed in 1945 by a set director from Metro Goldwyn Mayer into its current form.
We had a great and fun evening. We had the Tiki noodles with shrimp and the mushroom fried rice and they were delicious. Our server Ken was friendly and the music was very entertaining. The bar was hopping on this Friday night! Highly recommended.

The Tonga Room is such a fun, unique, and classic San Francisco dining experience! Inside the Fairmont Hotel, the iconic tiki bar and restaurant has been entertaining guests since 1945. We started with the Tonga Pupu Platter, which was perfect for sharing, and then split the Seafood Coconut Curry that was rich and flavorful. The tropical décor, complete with a pool in the center, simulated rain and thunderstorm, and live music in a floating tiki bar, made the night even more memorable. Our waiter was entertaining, helpful, and our food came out so fast! It’s a must-visit when in San Francisco for both its history and atmosphere!

We almost didn't get to experience the Tonga Room as I forgot to make reservations early. Luckily, we were able to get a table one night while we were in town. So, if you are thinking about going make sure and make your reservations as soon as you can. The drinks were top notch and the entertainment was so good. We stayed for all 3 sets as we celebrated our 11th anniversary. Highly recommend the Kalua Pork and the Seafood Coconut Curry. We had a wonderful time and memories that will last as a lifetime.

Great house band playing hits. Cute little dance floor where the buffet used to be served. $15 is nuts to charge per person for sitting at a table, but you can avoid that fee by standing and dancing. Friendly bartenders. Overall pretty interior but the rules kind of make it stuffy. It still rains, which was fun. Decent drinks. Worth $22+++ per cocktail? Probably not. I'm glad I've been.

What an amazing atmosphere. Best indoor tiki bar ever. Service was impeccable. The drinks were super potent. Go for an off-the-menu Singapore Sling (Jimmy Buffett was right...IYKYK!) The seafood coconut curry was flavorful and spicy...add some steamed rice. The pork was juicy and full of flavor. Go take a walk back in Tiki time! Reservations highly encouraged.

Went to the Tonga Room for our Anniversary. The all Staff are very friendly from start to finish and fun to be around . The live Musicians were great and do play a variety of styles ranging from Country to R&B . We got up and danced ! The drinks are a bit too sweet and syrupy so I added more water to mine . The food was way too salty and sugary for my personal pallet .Even though we didn’t enjoy the food or drinks we thoroughly had a great time just based on the friendly service, ambiance and entertainment . We loved our time so much that we got some swag!
Makai G — Google review
Excellent and exclusive eatery located in the Fairmont hotel. Be prepared to eat, dance, sing along, and experience the entertainment that the Tonga room has to offer. A giant pool in the middle of the restaurant sets the tone of the time you're about to have as you are propelled to the Pacific islands, as the theme of the gastronomical phenomenon gives you a one-way ticket to your Tongan paradise. The food is as tasty as you would imagine, but be prepared to make your money do the talking, as exclusivity comes at a price. Nothing outrageous, but definitely not cheap.

Comstock Saloon is a charming establishment that transports you back to the turn of the century with its vintage cocktails and upscale bar fare. Located at the edge of San Francisco's Financial District, it attracts a lively crowd, especially after market hours. The ambiance is enriched by historical details reminiscent of the Barbary Coast era, including an antique mahogany bar and cozy wood booths.

We met our in-laws at Comstock Saloon for an early dinner / happy hour. They were in town for the Grateful Dead concert at Oracle Park. We had a group of 11 so they found a couple of tables in the back just below the piano player upstairs. Lots of drinks going around and every one complimented the tasty cocktails. I had a Reality Check Pilsner beer. The food menu was eclectic and we had the following items: Comstock Burger & Fries 3/5 husk ok $21 Skirt steak with chimichurri 4/5 Oysters 4/5 $3.50 each Salmon and potato puffs 3/5 Donuts with ice cream 5/5 had to order a couple more best item The Comstock Saloon is located near the corner of Columbus and Kearney. It's filled with wooden booths. Service was ok. The nearest parking lot is Portsmouth garage.

Stopped in for beverage and light bite. Great service, interesting history. Live music several nights a week. Local crowd mostly, typical old SF bar vibe. Great neighborhood hangout.

Very unique place with a lot of history and some of the best craft cocktails I’ve ever had. The bartender took his time with each drink, making sure each was just right. With two drinks, you get a free light lunch on Fridays. It was corn chowder the day we went, which was phenomenal, but not hearty enough to soak up the two strong drinks. We added some fries and bacon wrapped dates yo have a little more on our stomach for walking around. It’s really worth reading the history of this old Jewish barbershop that was preserved and made into a destination. It’s wild to think everything this building has endured. If these walls could talk!

Unbelievable cocktail joint with a vintage vibe and excellent staff. Oysters were great and served with a delicious minionette or an awesome smokey home make hot sauce. I make a point to stop in here every time I'm in San Francisco if I can make an excuse to do so!

Came here on a Sat evening for my husband's bday with a group. Unfortunately, the service we received was unprofessional and unacceptable. - An older staff member approached our group and made a demeaning comment, referring to us as a "colorful bunch." If you wanted us to move to a different area, you could’ve told us directly instead of being passive aggressive. - The bartender with the long mustache was also rude and unhelpful. When I asked for a list of beers on tap, was basically scoffed at. Gave same attitude to our group as well. We get it’s a cocktail bar, but no need to be rude if we don’t want to order that. Despite being the only patrons in the smaller back room, we were treated poorly. Our entire group and I are not returning. Beware of the terrible customer service here.

Live music nearly every night and the best cocktails I’ve ever had in SF. 10/10 would recommend, have recommended, and have thrown a few parties here. There free lunch is worth every cocktails SM the ambiance brings you back to the early 1900’s. Their food is delicious, the burger is one of my favorites along with the salmon puffs. You cannot go wrong here! Check it out if you have the time and coin to spare.

It’s interiors with hushed lighting that project shades of brown, along with well chosen paintings and prints feels like you have walked into the modern version of a SE Asian nation ; I wish I was wearing a suit with fedora, with Lauren Bacall at my side; a long wooden rotating fan that looks like an oar is designed to mesmerize patrons to keep ordering drinks and food; Love the fried Brussels sprouts. The jazz band is curiously situated a level above bar as if they are a voice of God? Martinez is my favorite drink here,. It’s becoming my regular place for drinks.

A really upscale yet chill establishment. Fantastic bar service - got drinks really quickly. And the drink was very good - I’m used to “pseudo-cocktails” where they pretend they can make something good with fancy indigents and it tastes horrible - not this place. These are cocktails that taste great and pack a punch at the same time. They know how to make a drink that leaves the punch of the alcohol yet sweetens and softens it so you can enjoy it. The jerky is kind of a bonus - I did make a mistake of getting the sampler. 3 of the 4 were pretty spicy and I had to pace myself. But it was an experience. Lastly, the bar was really loud and I suppose my wife and I were expecting somewhere more chill and relaxed where we could unwind instead of feeling wound up by the noise. This was the only major disappointment I suppose - but everything else about this place is top notch. Really felt like a little diamond in the rough - what they do they do it well.

How many cocktails can I get? How many almonds, pork rinds and jerky sticks do I need to order? Yes, I will take all of them- the drinks and snacks. The cocktails are what I dream of- innovative, in complete balance, questioning the norm- all the superb qualities we ponder in a perfect beverage. Plus the whiskey, mezcal, among many spirits appears to be hard to surpass. DO NOT PASS THIS COCKTAIL SPOT UP!!!

This place is pure San Francisco in the best possible way. A proper dive with a big outdoor area, it somehow manages to attract leather-clad bikers, crusty old-school locals, and middle-class millennials sipping rosé—all happily coexisting. I stopped by Charmaine’s for a nightcap after dinner & I’m so glad I did. From the start, everyone was incredibly kind — The host downstairs made me feel totally comfortable (Even with my takeout bag 😅) & gave me all the details I needed before heading up Once I got to the rooftop, the vibe was immaculate — Warm lighting, cozy fire pits, & a mix of people who were just genuinely happy to be there. I had my iPad with me & planned to watch a show while I enjoyed a drink, & everyone made me feel so comfortable doing my own thing José, my waiter, was amazing — Thoughtful, attentive, & so genuinely uplifting; He even surprised me with a complimentary glass of champagne just to make sure I was fully enjoying myself (I don’t even drink champagne, but the gesture meant a lot 🥹) Miguel was another staff member who really stood out — Equally kind & always checking in throughout the night. Charmaine rooftop in San Francisco has amazing views. That is really the main highlight. The outdoor seating is great, especially on a nice day. The whole place has a cool vibe and looks good. Service was solid too. Staff were friendly and quick. The food was okay. Not bad, but nothing I would go out of my way for. It is definitely more of a spot for the atmosphere than for the food. One downside during my visit was that two sketchy people showed up smelling strongly of weed. They were not just chilling either. They kept running around the rooftop and making it hard to relax. It completely threw off the mood for a while. That smell was way too much and kind of ruined the experience at that point. Overall, I still like the rooftop and would go back for the views and the setting. Just hope the crowd is better next time.
Niti — Google review
**This review is for the rooftop bar** Charmaines is a place you go for the view and the atmosphere more than anything else. Dont get me wrong, the food and drinks are great but this is about the view. Food is excellent but its appetizers and finger food, not a meal. You can make a meal of it but its going to take a few orders and some imagination. Drinks are excellent and there is something for every taste - beer, wine, mixed. Personally, I recommend the cocktails. Im generally a beer guy but when you have a chance to get really well made cocktails take advantage of it. Back to the view. Its amazing. Its also SF. The panorama picture below was taken on July 19th. It was COLD with blowing fog. They brought us blankets and of course there is a fire. We were still cold. The second round of pictures is from October and it was significantly warmer but there was more wind. Where we were seated we were completely protected from the wind and it was great. Where you sit will have a HUGE impact on the temperature you feel. Same day in two different locations you could be hot or cold. I would recommend a jacket/sweater no matter what time of year it is. Its a lot easier to take off a sweater than knit one from scratch. I gave Charmaines 4 stars for service and atmosphere. The service can be spotty and is very much impacted by the other guests. Same with he atmosphere. If you get a bunch of VC tech bros in there the atmosphere can be terrible and the service can suffer. I get it, go to the table buying bottle service first. Thats not the fault of the staff, its the curse of the Tech bros. And that brings me to the last part. This is expensive even by SF standards. To me its worth it but you might not agree.

My friend and I had a reservation on OpenTable for a Sunday 4pm visit. As of June 2025, you can avoid the per person nonrefundable fee and minimum spend by reserving a Sunday rather than a Friday or Saturday. We'd both been pre-pandemic and fondly remembered their rooftop bar and firepits. We were again seated outside though this time in the skinnier aisle section rather than in the slightly larger area with the better view (it looked like most of that seating was for 3 people). I ordered the Big Cat, my friend ordered the Proper Cup, and we both split the spinach and artichoke dip with potato chips. My drink was good, but we were both more impressed with the dip, which was delicious! We were also celebrating my friend's birthday, so I let them know on my reservation, and they brought out a complimentary small red velvet cake, which was a nice touch! For anyone driving in for their visit, the UC Hastings garage offers $10 all day parking on Sundays (though I think they close around 9/10pm) and it's an easy walk down McAllister to reach the bar elevator entrance.

The drinks were really good and well crafted. The bar aesthetic is very elegant and the views of the city breathtaking. I booked my dinner at 6:30pm so I could enjoy the sunset and the night view. We had an amazing server, and the cheese potatoes with smoked mushroom was delicious. We also had the tacos, but they were below average. The guac and pico were not great. The guac was creamy but didn’t tasted like avocado it was very plain, no onions or cilantro, like nothing to elevate it. The pico has cucumber lots of it, which although refreshing took away from what the taste of pico should’ve been.

On the rooftop of the Proper Hotel in San Francisco is Charmaine's. We were staying at the hotel and realized that they had a weekend brunch where they Rose' and Paella!!! Check in the lobby area, (as well as a separate entrance from the hotel). A dedicated elevator takes you to the roof and we stepped out into a sleek modern vibey living room with views all across San Francisco sky line. The bar is stylish and well stocked. The interior rooms are structured into seating areas for conversation and merriment and the outside area has firepits and comfortable seating to soak in an amazing ambience!!! The location is a little out of the way, but it is well with the trip for a eohphisticated yet down to earth experience!!!

Last night was my second experience at Charmaine's for my sister's 40th Birthday dinner and it did NOT disappoint. It all started by being professionally and kindly greeted by Braeden on the ground level and then by handsome Miguel upon coming out of the elevator into the restaurant. Our server Joel made sure we always had everything we needed. Wemerson and Devan made extra special delicious cocktails just for me since I wanted something that wasn't on the cocktail menu. The manager, Norma came over to ensure everything was going smoothly and she made me and my group feel right at home and even offered to take a group photo of us. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was absolutely stunning and the overall experience was perfect. I highly recommend Charmaine's for any occasion really- happy hour/after work drinks and bites or a special occasion.

I had such an incredible experience at Charmaine’s! From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely amazing. A special shoutout to Taylor, who was so kind and attentive. He went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. The ambiance was perfect—chic, relaxed, and full of great energy. The wine selection was also top-notch, with something for every taste. I can’t recommend this place enough—it’s definitely a must-visit spot in San Francisco!

Vesuvio Cafe, located in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, has been a beloved spot since its opening in 1948. It was frequented by famous Beat Generation figures like Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. The bar is adorned with Beat-era memorabilia and local art, creating an intimate and artistic atmosphere. Downstairs is perfect for people-watching, while the upstairs balcony offers outdoor views and quiet conversations. The drink menu features classic cocktails and craft beers.
Vesuvio Cafe has some of the best vibes I've ever experienced in a bar! Every single piece of artwork has a different story to tell. Service was fast. The drinks tasted great and were surprisingly cheaper than expected. Try to get a table on the second floor overlooking the bar to get a nicer view. One of my favorite bars in San Francisco. Highly recommended!

Pretty cool bar! Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite popping! Very trendy and artsy. Love it! Bartenders are really friendly. First come first serve seating. They also have a second floor area

From the interior vibe to the real gas chandelier, it’s an amazing part of SF history. Read about the Beat Generation. Buy a book at City Lights next door or check out the Beat Museum a block away.

The vibe that only San Francisco can give. Bartender was gracious to our awkward “what do we order at noon?” confusion. After creating us each a gin and bourbon drink, we headed upstairs to soak up some bohemian ions. You can feel the history and every nook and cranny of the bar has some quirky creative touch

As a fellow poet, I am super into this spot. Love the history and all the literary memorabilia.
Ryan M — Google review
I am obsessed with this place. During my weekend in San Fran, me and my boyfriend went here almost every night. We love to share cheap pitchers of beer and this place had pitchers for $20 which was an unbeatable price in the area. The bar was so cozy. It felt like an old Victorian mansion. The walls were covered with art and paintings and it was lit with mostly Tiffany style lamps. I loved looking at the outfits people had on, seeing people enjoying the atmosphere with a cocktail and a book, or typing notes on a type writer and handing them to people around the bar. It felt like being in a different world and I loved the escape.

Wonderful bar with very good cocktail and a super friendly and special Bartender! She really knows her job and she do really good cocktails! For shore not my last time there! Toronado is a renowned beer bar in Lower Haight that has been a pivotal part of the local beer culture for over 30 years. With its laid-back atmosphere and over 40 beers on tap, including elusive favorites, it's a haven for beer enthusiasts. The bar's influence on the industry is evident with several brews named after its owner. Additionally, Toronado allows dogs indoors and out and offers outdoor seating.
Yep. Fully deserved reputation. First time I’ve used cash in years but that’s cool. Drank Pliny; great wild ales and a superb impy.
Ian H — Google review
It's been a minute since I last called in here, and it's lost none of its charm despite a recent change in ownership. Superb beers, a great atmosphere (whether there's a game on or not), a jukebox with a decent record selection and surly bar staff. But hey... be efficient and precise with your order, pay cash, and tip them. That's all they want. You don't have to try and make friends with them and that works for me. HOWEVER... the overpowering smell of vomit on this particular Sunday afternoon was almost unbearable. Even after a few beers, there was no pretending that the smell of butyric acid wasn't going to go away. Was I going to raise this matter with the bar staff? No way. Another beer please. Unfortunately, two stars deducted on this occasion.
Borobob — Google review
I’ll say up front that the atmosphere might not be for everyone but it is for me. The music is loud and hard, it dimly lit and filled with beer memorabilia from floorboards to ceiling. It’s awesome. The beer selection is awesome. Not a single big brewery on tap. I love it. If you want to introduce yourself to a very large variety of the best regional brews around, this is your place. I love it.

What a phenomenal place to stumble upon. I dive craft beer bar with welcoming regulars. Cash only but they have an atm. They were showing multiple early 90s dystopian films during our visit. If I lived in SF I’d absolutely be a regular here.

I've been to San Francisco just three times so far in my life and proud to say each time I spent some quality time at the Toronado. Amazing beer selection (including some cask), endlessly cool jukebox and a wonderfully dingy atmosphere.

The worst experience ever! I’m visiting from out of San Francisco, and both the guy at the door and the bartender were extremely rude and obnoxious. People come here to relax and enjoy, not to deal with such rude men who have no sense of decency. I’ll never come here again.

We had a great time visiting this craft beer institution. The beer list is amazing, as expected. Despite, the many reviews about the bartenders' negative attitudes, we found our bartender to be friendly and attentive. We would definitely return!

Love the library themed bar! Such a fun ambiance, customer service is great, drinks were delicious just small portions. Not a fan of the nachos, tasted like something you get from a baseball stadium. After all it’s bar food, but the quality of the food wasn’t reflective of the price. Other than that will definitely be back for drinks, cheers!

Beer garden
Biergarten is an outdoor beer garden located in Hayes Valley, San Francisco. It's a popular spot with communal tables and a rotating selection of draft beers. The German beer served here is highly regarded, and the menu features locally sourced German pub grub such as sausages and pretzels. Despite the possibility of long lines, it's worth the wait to experience the unique atmosphere of this converted parking lot surrounded by a chain-link fence.
Hidden, but very nice. Typical beer garden, with plenty of beers and german-style food options. Can be quite slow to get what you ordered, but you should come to relax, right? There was some nice live music when we went there.
Sylvain F — Google review
$13 for a small sausage, fried frozen fries, and a dallop of curry. I mean... The sausage was good but it seems way over priced. The curry was good. It tasted almost like worchestershire sauce curry. If you're into alcohol, I think you should stick to that but the rest of the menu is overpriced for okay food. It's good quality but not special.
Drawonnoodles — Google review
Solid beer selection and tons of picnic tables that usually get snatched up by 5 or 5:30 on a week night. Gets chilly really quickly here when the sun sets so bring a jacket! Their sausage platter was fantastic and I liked their potato salad.
Regan D — Google review
Biergarten is an excellent little outdoor spot and a proper neighbourhood anchor. Sister venue to Suppenküche, it serves up a short but satisfying menu of sausages, currywurst, and other German fare alongside a cracking beer selection. Expect shared trestle tables, a DJ spinning soul and funk on vinyl, and zero indoor cover—so come prepared. The crowd’s always solid and the atmosphere’s spot on. Decent cocktails too, if beer’s not your thing. It sits right next to an open-air cinema and, amusingly, an outdoor gym—perfect for offsetting those bratwursts if you suddenly feel inspired (or guilty). Worth a visit, no doubt.
Key M — Google review
Came here for a happy hour and it was cool to have so much outdoor space! It was incredibly cold though and windy, so it wasn't the most comfortable experience. There were a few heat lamps that kept us warm though. Good: - I was a huge fan of the pretzel dumplings - super tasty, maybe a little salty, but it was a super unique dish - 5/5 - The mushroom sliders were tasty as well but not my fave - 3/5 Bad: - Too cold outside! And the food took a bit to come out Overall this place was a nice place for a happy hour.
Jenny X — Google review
We tried the bratdog on a pretzel bun, the grilled cheese and some garlic parm fries. It was okay but the bun was very hard. But the location is great, it was a nice evening to dine al fresco, they had music playing, and the atmosphere was very social with German style shared tables. Beer drinks were good and the Elderberry non-alcoholic drink was very tasty.
Karia L — Google review
Not local beer, not imported German beer either. Just stuff you can get anywhere. Food was small portions. More for college and very young drinking crowd. Beer was VERY expensive. Would rather go to Steins or Humble Sea and get a liter for half the price. For the same price you can go to Radhaus and get the view and amazing food and imported German beer.
Davey J — Google review
Nothing like Biergarten in Hayes Valley on a sunny day….German Brews and Fixins are the order of the day and are well done! If you’re looking for an alcohol free Pauliner or a delicious Radler, this is the spot. Cool no frills vibe .

If you're looking for a vibrant night out, The Detour in Duboce Triangle is the ultimate destination. This playful bar and arcade combines vintage video games with a lively atmosphere decked in neon lights. Picture yourself battling it out on Super Smash Bros. projected on a giant screen while sipping on delicious cocktails and snacking on Asian-inspired bites like adobo wings or mapo tofu rice.
Fun spot to hang out with friends. Grabbed a table and looked at the menu. Once we decided, we ordered at the bar. Waited to pick up our drinks which were reasonably priced for the city and decent. Got a buzzer for the food. Portion size for the snacks we’re on the small size but other dishes seemed reasonable. Arcade games were not sticky and they had something for each of us.
E L — Google review
We came to Detour on a Thursday night and the place was packed for a trivia night - super fun and lively. It’s a large open space, great for game nights or other events - they have big screens around the bar that people can play video games on (there’s usually a Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart game going on). They also have arcade machines around the room. We ordered a few drinks, and really enjoyed the Sangria. Our server, TC, was a delight as well and made my friend a “surprise” cocktail that was great. My one gripe was that the food was underwhelming. We ordered the Wellness Bowl which was $20 but was pretty light portion-wise and fairly subpar overall for the price. Detour would be great for events with friends or maybe a date if you want to grab a beer and play the arcade games. Just be prepared that the food won’t be out of this world.

My new favorite bar in SF, super chill with such a fun sense of community!! Awesome game variety and so many frequent special events
Miranda R — Google review
Time warp, rediscovered game nights, video games from back in the days , a solid selection of cocktails and their own take on bar food. In short it works. Feeling bored at home and making new friends but don't feel like dressing up or putting on a show...the detour is a nice mix of 'i could care less' being alone in a crowd or hanging with friends while making new ones. Their food selection is an interesting take on bar food. Yes all the common items you can find like burgers and pizza but we tried their adobo bowl, a bit salty for my taste but otherwise not bad and yes their okonomiyaki bowl is actually rather good and tasty. Their tacos are alright, I like the fact that they are not saucy and overloaded with sour cream and other non Mexican taco add-ons but they are a bit dry . A dash of lime would help the cause

The Detour a whole vibe. Lots of people playing games and just chilling drinking and eating. The place is small which kinds of sucks because it's was crowded but everyone seem to be in their own world of games. The food was actually really good for bar food. Everything tasted great. The games were fun and to my surprise I like playing the old school games. Had a great time here. Would definitely recommend it as a cool place to chill.

I had forgotten how much I love this place until I came back and it was somehow even better than I remembered. We ordered the gochujang wings and they were seriously some of the best I’ve had. Perfectly crispy, sticky, spicy, and packed with flavor. The spinach miso mushroom linguine was another standout, rich, savory, with the perfect miso kick and crispy nori on top. So unique and absolutely delicious. I’ve been into celery based cocktails lately and their California Cooler was so refreshing. Bright, light, and perfectly balanced. The staff here is amazing. So friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. You can tell they genuinely care and love what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. My first time at horsefeather was all alright! we made a reservation but still waited to be seat. It was a busy night for sure. My mom had the short rib and she liked it. I had the two piece chicken, I wish had more of the sauce because some parts lacked flavor, i was expecting a bit more of the mac n cheese but the corn was really good. The burger was good according to my bf but the bread a bit soggy. The best part was for sure the appetizer the duck fries were amazing, the artichoke dip was so good. The drinks were alright. I enjoyed mine, the day walker. For a party of 6 they had an automatic 20% tip. Overall food was good just wish the service was bit faster because we waited quiet a bit even to get a check.

Araya started us off with attentive and friendly approach, and Thomas came on shift half way through to banter about latitude and the history of Molort. All the staff were a delight to be around. We started with an “it ain’t me babe” and while I was skeptical with the amount of ingredients they mixed like a dream for a truly unique experience and one of a kind drink. . We went with the mushroom risotto and the braised beef, both of which had their own charm but the beef stood out as a dish to come back for. Of course we dabbled with fried chicken, a crispy a delicious side accommodation I would have been foolish not to indulge in. We finished the evening with the yuzu custard , that left a profound savory longing for each next bite. And I couldn’t get out the door without another of those gin drinks. What a gem!

We recently concluded our visit to the establishment. Initially, the first round of drinks amounted to $13 for both. However, we observed an unexpected increase in price for the second round, despite ordering the same drinks. Despite this minor setback on New Year's Day, we opted to focus on enjoying the exceptional music. Additionally, there was an incident with one of the bartenders, a stout individual, who exhibited rudeness when I attempted to capture a photo of the bar, stating firmly not to consider taking any photographs. so be prepare for that if you’re planning to visit.

The Old Ship Saloon is a historic landmark in San Francisco, converted from a 19th-century sailing ship. It's popular among downtown workers for its draft beer and pub grub. The atmosphere is described as dark but fitting, with the interior retaining the feel of an abandoned vessel named the Arkansas. The atmosphere here is cozy and welcoming. Friendly bartenders, and really good food! I've eaten nachos 100s of times in my life. The chicken molé nachos at The Old Ship Saloon are the best I've ever had! Also, my husband uses a wheelchair and this place is very accessible (including the bathroom!). We'll be back next time we're in SF.

One of the best Reuben sandwiches I've had! Delicious calamari, fantastic cocktails, and wonderful service (thanks, Pauli)! French fries were delicious & skirt steak was exceptional. Highly recommended!

We had a very late dinner at Old Ship Saloon after a night tour out at Alcatraz, and we couldn't have had a better experience. When we arrived, it was busy but not crowded, and even though the hour was late (9:30 pm), we were able to get amazing food. As the tavern filled up with people attending conferences or in the Business District, it felt loud but fun, and we weren't rushed out of our table or denied excellent service. We can absolutely recommend the clam chowder, the fish and chips was phenomenal our visiting guest had the salmon and enjoyed every single bite while my husband had the nachos and was shocked at how enormous the portion was! Five stars - we will definitely come again!!

Hi Tops San Francisco is a popular gay sports bar located in the Castro neighborhood. Despite being an unconventional concept, it has gained widespread appeal for its top-notch fast food and drinks. The setting features gym decor and multiple TVs tuned to various sports events, making it a lively spot for sports enthusiasts. The menu offers elevated pub fare including nachos, wings, and other delicious options. The bar hosts trivia nights and Thursday gym class events, creating a convivial atmosphere for patrons to enjoy.
Best nachos in SF hands down - melty cheese, chips felt nice and crispy, and healthy serving of protein. I loved the soft avocado as well. Corn dog was delicious!

Hi Tops is a fantastic neighborhood-friendly sports bar that I absolutely love. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for any occasion. The staff consistently impresses with their friendly smiles and excellent service. If you visit, I highly recommend trying the wings and garlic fries—they're simply outstanding.

Amazing venue, friendly staff, delicious food! I was trying not to dance in my chair because I was vibing with the music. The beer was cold and refreshing as well. Definitely recommend if you want some music, beer, and food!

Slow cocktail staff who seemed to always be annoyed you're ordering a drink. Food staff is the extreme exact opposite. Food is typical sports bar food. Nothing special or unique. Everything seems to be very heavy with the hot spices. Seems more like a pick up place to be seen in that special t-shirt you got just to wear here to be seen.

Went there for Argentina v Netherlands World Cup 2022. Tim , pictured, was the hardworking bartender. At the 11:00am game, the beers were $7. The fries, $6, were HOT and fresh, too. There are about 20 screens with the game so you could get in the action from any seat. At the game’s peak, every seat was filled and many were standing. It was , however, not crowded. Tim said for a big game, the place would be packed with standing room. Service was great and a second bartender helped. The seemed to mix a lot of complicated drinks! Crowd was friendly. All around great deal and time. Exciting game helped!

15 Romolo is a hidden gem nestled in North Beach, offering a nostalgic atmosphere with its wood paneling and classic cocktails. The menu features a variety of dishes, from grilled octopus to poutine, but it's the American classics like sticky spare ribs and golden brown French fries that steal the show. This back-alley oasis has a sultry vibe and serves quality sherries, wines, beers, and other cocktails.
Last stop during our night out and it was the perfect end-point. Super chill vibes, dimly lit but also packed in a good way. The bartender was hilarious and totally went along with us asking for a single shot that is good, but also strong but also different but also 10 other things. All in all, we'll be back!

A cool semi dark place with some chill vibes. The bartenders are busy making drinks left and right, but yet are also friendly to us at the bar counter. I had their special drink- paper plane- that had some baijiu in it and it was strong, but tasty. Their garlic fries were very good to snack on while enjoying our drinks.

15 Romolo cocktail bar was the perfect place for Nero and Seneca to unwind after a long day of adventures. The pimm’s cocktail was a refreshing treat and Gabriel, the bartender, was fantastic. He not only mixed amazing drinks but also made us feel welcome and at ease. The bar is known for its cool drinks and cool vibes, and it lived up to its reputation for great cocktails. Nero and Seneca were the stars of our visit, but it's important to note that they didn't consume any alcohol or food that wasn't doggy approved. Disclaimer: No dogs were harmed or given any alcohol or non-dog-friendly food during our visit. Overall, 15 Romolo is highly recommended for anyone looking for amazing drinks, great conversation, and a relaxed atmosphere. Gabriel, the bartender, was truly exceptional and made our visit unforgettable. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this gem for yourself!

Just got a Pablo Honey n it tasted flat and weirdly had a sour after taste. Needed more citrus to balance the rest. Came here on Labor Day as hubby said it's got good cocktails. Disappointed. Service took time. Though the welcome was good. Might not return.

My friend introduced this as the best cocktail place in the city - I didn’t have enough drinks to validate that, but had a really good cocktail. It was something they had on a happy hour menu - some punch - but It was beautiful. Food however, left something to be desired. Had wings - which was slightly too chewy for wings.

Nestled in the vibrant Lower Nob Hill, Peacekeeper is a captivating bi-level bar that radiates warmth and charm. With its retractable roof, this trendy spot transforms into an open-air oasis on pleasant evenings, making it a perfect hangout for those looking to unwind. The design features a harmonious blend of gray concrete, blonde wood, and lush hanging plants that complement the abundant natural light flooding the space.
Good drinks, cool vibe, cool music, cute decor and a pool table. Aside from the one lame dude who thought I was lying about buying two games of pool it was a great spot post dinner date for another cocktail and fun atmosphere.

The open retractable roof and atmosphere….perfect! A must go if you are in SF!!! Alec, you are awesome!!!!! Big shout out to you for making this one of our best stops!!!!! Very friendly, engaging, and wonderful conversation! Oh, and fabulous music selection!

This is exactly the place you need. My friend and I were aimlessly wandering around after watching a movie and we ended up here. The music volume was so reasonable that I didn’t even care that it was cumbia. We were served immediately; I got the bar’s namesake pineapple drink which was both sweet and spicy. My friend and I found a spot on the upper deck while we looked up to the ceiling and realized it contained a massive, open hole to the sky. Who knows what they do when it rains. Other people entered the balcony but they talked in hushed voices. I hate loud noises and there was none of that to be found here. It was like God adjusted the volume for us. I was looking for the perfect conversation and I found it as my friend and I discussed what we like to hang on our walls. Not perfect as in “the best” but perfect as in a feeling of mindless, maybe slightly melancholic contentment; one you only find on some bittersweet vacation in some welcoming bar where the real world feels like a distant memory.
Catherine S — Google review
We loved this place. It was right beside our hotel so we visited for a nightcap four of the six nights we were in town. The atmosphere is open and inviting, the staff were all very friendly, and the quality of the drinks is top notch. I also felt like the prices were more affordable than we saw elsewhere in town. This would definitely be our Friday night spot if we lived in the area.

Peacekeeper is a home away from home. The staff here not only makes me feel welcomed, but as a woman, always safe. Desi, Robin, Alec, Michael, & Roger are the most amazing bartenders and I am always blown away with being served a drink that tastes phenomenal. Best bar in sf 11/10.

I can’t say for certain what happened, but something about my experience here didn’t sit right. I asked if I could sit outside, and when the bartender brought my drink, he said it was “free”, but the way he said it didn’t feel sincere. I could be wrong, but I left with the unsettling feeling that he may have spit in my drink. Management should take this seriously and ensure customers feel safe and respected.

Update: it's been awhile since I've been here and I hate to do this cuz I'm in the service industry, but with my experience I had when I visited last night, I had to share..I used to recommend this place whenever patrons would leave the upscale restaurant where I work but now I know to steer them away. The bartender didn't even know how to make a non-alcoholic drink when the menu specifically says to ask the bartender for N/A drinks!! The guy had more of a barback vibe regarding his lack of basic cocktail knowledge than an actual bartender, I get it, the industry has been hit hard, so sometimes as a business you take what you can get but it was still disappointing to be told all he could come up with is water or a N/A beer at a cocktail bar. I really hate to leave a review like this but to the guy I'm talking about, brotha if you came to me and asked me for an N/A, I'd at least act like I actually care and not just brush me off and laugh like it was ridiculous to ask for N'A drinks. I'd expect that at Applebee's but it's a complete disappointment at a place like that. If a manager see this, train the guys behind your bar to know at least 2 n/a drinks!

Lounge
Aub Zam Zam is a unique curved bar in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, known for its classic cocktails and vintage ambiance. The bar, which opened in the 1940s, features a Persian theme with exotic furnishings that transport patrons to another era. While once known for its cantankerous owner Bruno Mooshei, who had strict rules about bar etiquette, the atmosphere has mellowed since his passing.
One of the last true San Francisco Gem❤️.Last night I had a fabulous Mai Tai . The bartender was very nice . The crowed was polite and chill and hip! The decor is a eclectic mix of 50’s , Baroque , Hippie chic 😎super cool.

Josiah R — Google review
Having stumbled upon this bar by walking down Haight Street, we decided to go in and see what it was like. We were in for a great treat. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by a male bartender who said he had recently joined the staff there. He was extremely friendly and told us about the bar's history. It used to only serve Gin Martinis. In fact, he told us a story about how the owner of the bar (1940's, I believe) would only serve Gin Martinis, and if you asked for anything else, he would kick you out of the bar. Of course that isn't still the case, you can order any drink you desire, but it made for an awesome story to listen to while we were there. There are even pictures of the old owner hung on the walls. There are some from a new years celebration & a few others. I ended up ordering a martini (vodka), just for the nostalgia of it. Before you say anything, yes, I know it wasn't Gin, but I'm not a Gin drinker, so Vodka was my selection. The martini was delicious, the setting was very interesting & learning about the history of the bar made the whole experience that much more memorable. The bar is very ornate, for being so old, but is a very casual place to relax and have a drink. I would recommend stopping by and checking it out. You'll be glad that you did.

The best Mixologist I have ever came across on my life! This location is cozy and inviting, and their restrooms are very clean.
Dianna B — Google review
This bartender made a false accusation of a female touching/spiking a gentlemen’s drink who was paying for her drink. Eye witnessed pointed out that the female customer never touched the gentlemen drink while he was away. The bartenders attitude was completely unprofessional, which was recorded on a 0:09-0:32 second video. The bartender approached the tipsy customer and began to yell at her while she was asking for what reason she was being kicked out. The bartender stutters, obviously thinking of an excuse on the spot to remove the person from the premises. A false accusation was made and the bartender threatened to call the police. I believe there are surveillance cameras inside the property that could’ve been reviewed. The person who paid for the female drinks was an apparent regular. Key things to take from this review -Grave Accusation was made. -Staff approaching the tipsy customer in an intimidating demeanor. -Biased customer service. -Customer humiliated. If the owner check reviews I have video recording of the disgusting behavior. Your bartender openly admitted on camera that “She didn’t know who she was and if it were him-“ >>insert inaudible<< stumbling over her words and corrected herself while informing her she was “86” just by passing by. It’s infuriating to see the video footage of how demeaning a person can get all because the person is a local regular. Do not spend your money here, regulars are more respected than new customers.

After being rebuilt following a fire, it has retained its cozy hunting lodge atmosphere with rustic brick flooring, high ceilings, vintage decor, and a welcoming fireplace. The bar offers a full selection of drinks, live music, karaoke nights, and bingo for locals to enjoy. It's described as an ideal spot for couples seeking an intimate evening with views of the Pacific Ocean.
Had a blast at this place. My brother brought us here while we were visiting. We got to enjoy bingo night and had alot of fun. It was cool to learn about how they burned down an were rebuilt. Nestled in the vibrant Marina district, Silver Cloud Restaurant & Karaoke Bar transforms from a cozy American eatery into an energetic karaoke hotspot as night falls. This lively venue invites you to unleash your inner rock star, whether you're belting out the latest Taylor Swift hits or grooving to nostalgic throwback tunes. With wide screens displaying lyrics and a fun-loving crowd, it's the perfect place to sing along and dance like nobody's watching.
From the moment I walked into Silver Cloud I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere is electric — a perfect blend of laid-back vibes and high-energy fun. The decor is chic but not too over-the-top, creating a welcoming yet lively setting that’s perfect for any occasion. Let’s talk about the food! The menu offers a variety of options, all bursting with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of hearty comfort food or lighter, more sophisticated bites, there’s something for everyone. And then there’s the karaoke! The sound system is top-notch, and the song selection is massive. I was able to sing everything from old-school classics to the latest hits, and the crowd was incredibly supportive, making it feel like a true performance. The staff made sure the night flowed smoothly, always checking in to ensure drinks were topped up and everything was running without a hitch. What sets this place apart, though, is the vibe. It’s easy to see that everyone here — from the bartenders to the regulars to the karaoke enthusiasts — is just there to have a great time. There’s no pressure, just a lot of laughter, great music, and delicious food. I can’t recommend Silver Cloud enough. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed night out or ready to belt out your favorite songs, this place delivers on all fronts. Can’t wait to come back!

I've been here twice now and both times service was great and they surprisingly have amazing bar food! My husband ordered their burger and he kept raving about how great it tasted. Their chicken tenders are also very crunchy and fresh! Their food is made to order, it always comes out piping hot! Their karaoke is so fun. You can request a song and they will call you up when it's your turn. Everyone in the bar are always super sweet and cheer you on! Parking can be difficult especially later in the night on Fridays and weekends, but not impossible.

I only rated the food as a 3 because I didn't have any, but the staff and venue was fantastic. Huge selection of drinks on tap as well as mixed drinks and shots. Bathrooms were okay but they also had at least 80 or so customers the entire night so that's understandable. If you're looking for a place to let loose and sing some karaoke this is a great place to go.

This isn't a regular bar. It's a place you can go to have a ton of fun while being greeted by an outstandingly friendly staff despite being hit at times by a huge demanding crowd. The bartenders, Eamon, Cooper, Hanna, Brenna, and Anna, are all extremely attentive, and when I visit, they treat me as a friend. The karaoke is amazing, unlike any other bars that do Karaoke Shows. Erik, the resident KJ is outstanding and patient, and there isn't a sung he doesn't have. He is super chill. Even the bar owner Tom is very down to earth and chill. He isn't uptight like most bar owners. This review doesn't allow me to give them any more than 5 stars, but in my book, they are 10 out of 10.

Food was surprisingly top notch. The Spicy chicken sandwich was outstanding. As a culinary arts major who went to the Culinary Institute of America, I will say that this place has their chicken sandwich figured out. Simple, but a immense explosion of flavor. Went there on Taco Tuesday, great prices and excellent birria tacos! I was watching the NBA playoffs here. The only thing I’d say is that they didn’t have any volume for the sports, they instead had Mexican music being played. While a cool trendy spot, I ended up paying $27 each (inclusive tax and tip) for just a simple Tito’s martini. Nothing fancy, one dry, one dirty. If you’re popping in for a quick pre-movie drink, you’re better off getting the Modelo for 5 bucks or head somewhere else. And to those that think “oh that’s just San Francisco”, $27 for a simple martini is not normal in the city (or NY, or London, or any other major metropolis)

The overall experience was kind of "meh". The bartenders were super nice but one seemed to be distracted. There were also problems with the food that we ordered. First we were given the wrong order, then after waiting more than 30 minutes for our actual order we discovered that our order was never put in. I understand that sometimes people have a bad day/night so I would give them another try if I'm in the area and looking for cocktails. I don't think I'd try the appetizers again as they weren't that appealing. The best part of the evening was the music. I gave my Shazam a workout, lol. *Full disclosure: this is a late review as we went a few months ago. I'm just taking the time now to update my Google.

Great atmosphere, fantastic cocktails and they offer the Foreign Cinema menu. The servers checked on us regularly enough and with the small inconvenience of ordering at the bar we got incredible food, nice seats and a wide range of drinks. Would recommend this place if you are going out for drinks and are not sure where the night is taking you - stay for the food! ;)

A friend took me to laszlo on a Saturday late noon for good cocktails and nibbles. The spicy margaritas are savage! Oysters were very fresh. Great atmosphere too! I’ll defo be back :)
Alicia L — Google review
We wanted to have drinks after watching a movie. This was convenient as it had indoor and outdoor seating. It’s the bar that is part of Foreign Cinema.

Wine bar
Verjus is a wine bar, bistro, and retail shop in downtown San Francisco. The menu features house-made and artisanal cheeses and charcuterie, organic produce, and more. The atmosphere is Euro-cool, professional, and relaxed.
Verjus is a great wine-forward modern French bistro-type place. They have some amazing bottles, so it’s well-worth going that route.

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and was excited to secure a reservation the week prior for a friend’s visit. I forgot to note that it was for a birthday celebration when booking, so I called the day off and spoke with the hostess, who kindly made a note of it. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us warmly, recalled my call about the birthday, and seated us near the brick wall by the bar. She let us know our server would be with us shortly. Although I understand it was prime time and busy, it took 10–15 minutes before our server greeted us or offered water. When he did arrive, he asked about beverages and let us taste the wine before ordering, which I appreciated (although seemed like he wasn’t as knowledgeable enough of their wine menu). We ordered everything at once, and while the starters arrived promptly and were enjoyable, there was a 30–45 minute wait for our entrées (bœuf and poulet). During that time, there was no check-in or update from our server. He only returned once he realized we hadn’t received our food. When the dishes finally arrived, the bœuf was cold. At the end of the meal, the server cleared our plates without asking if we were finished—my friend had wanted to dip her bread in the remaining sauce—and also took her wine glass, which still had a sip left. We ordered the profiterole for dessert, which was delicious, but I was disappointed there was no acknowledgment that it was a birthday dinner. Unfortunately, the service and price point didn’t live up to expectations, and I left feeling disappointed given the strong recommendation I’d received.

Literally….. the best meal of my life. Verjus is at their PEAK! The steak, extraordinary and I wish I would have saved my bread for the jus. The duck, so crisp, rich, delicate. Eggs, jammy, tangy, delightful. The ham croquets were crispy, meaty, flavorful. The pan perdu, it is a hype and worth it. Wine list is extraordinary. The service is top notch. It can be very loud, but there’s no need to talk with outstanding food coming. Hands down the BEST restaurant right now in SF. If you can get a reservation, consider yourself blessed.

Great wine selection and ambiance with a beautiful open kitchen. All the dishes we tried were exquisite. The one thing that might not suit everyone is that they have stools instead of chairs.
Ignacio L — Google review
Great ambience. Of all the wines we tasted - loved the Vouvray and the Rhône GSM the most. We ordered the Aubergine, Mushrooms, the sturgeon and the Bread pudding with ice cream. All very good. Service - par excellence!!

We came here to celebrate a birthday. We got sat on time at a table by the window. All the staff was professional and courteous. The wine list could be overwhelming, but there's a wine director who will make great recommendations.

One of my absolute favorite wine bars! The sommelier team here is world class. The food is amazing especially the desserts!

Cute ambiance, ok wine list, and so-so service. I think it’s a fun spot when they have DJs spinning vinyl on Saturday nights!

Subway station
Glen Park is a charming and often-overlooked neighborhood that's worth a visit for its delightful bakery offering some of the best tarts in the city. The no-frills bakery features an array of flavors including banana cream, chocolate, lemon, strawberry, apple, and raspberry. During weekends and holidays, they also offer delicious pie versions such as apple, pumpkin, pecan, sweet potato, marionberry, and vegetarian mincemeat.
I took an architectur course in college and found out about brutalism. This station is a great example of it. I never before thought I’d like our local Bart station until after that course. It’s lots of concrete formed around a space for utilization. It’s perfection especially when riding the escalator down. Stunning

The air is cool; not cold, not hot, cool. There are elevators, stairs, people, & light.

Decreased rating from 5 to 4 stars on 3/22/2021. In 2020, I heard some noises of an >200kV AC electric generator running in some Sundays, everything else is OK. The elevator never stops between the platform and the concourse level since there is a button between it (possibly halfway between the concourse and platform levels).
Evan L — Google review
This train stop is a typical train stop. Bathrooms are meh, but on the clean side.
James N — Google review
This is one of the "perks" of Glen Park; it feels very rural and yet you get a reasonably nice BART stop. The station itself could be better and also could be a lot worse. As usual, avoid at night.
Noah — Google review
It is relatively clean and the being above ground the bathroom is generally open. there is also a quaint flowershop right by the entrance and it is only four blocks from my favorite bakery in the city.
Timothy W — Google review
Five stars because, without it, there wouldn't be a bar in Glen Park. Also, like the original BART decor, it's carpeted. Yes, this is a carpeted bar. I've heard that Ed Lee drowns his political sorrows here. Unfortunately, I've never seen him in the maudlin crowd. One day, I hope, one day.
Nicole K — Google review
If it's convenient for you you'll use it, and if not not. Inside bike parking, though not enough of it -- usually full by 9AM. Bathrooms are open and passable by public toilet standards. Some jockeying with corporate shuttle buses required, since Google, Yahoo, Genentech and others all run buses through here, and it's a congested intersection prone to aggressive driver stupidity where left turns are involved.
