We had a nice time at McGillins. The staff was friendly and didn’t have any issues. We popped in on a Sunday afternoon for drinks. My wife got a cocktail she really enjoyed. I did the beer sampler. The value was great I think $11 or so for the sampler with you get to choose a few of those. I’m not a huge beer guy in general and didn’t love any of the beers but enjoyed the experience. Think they could’ve been a little colder. We did get a koozie for our collection and the vibes were great inside. Definitely worth checking out.

Great relaxed environment. Feels like a local neighborhood bar on the middle of the city. Best happy hour and great value as an event space for retirement or birthday parties etc. Service is great. Staff is friendly and fun. Drinks well made with tasty food. The price is also right! Very good compared to the other city bars & restaurants.

It feels like this place is kind of tucked away in the city and it's satisfying when you first see it. Solid stop and won't break the bank. Get the "original sandwitch special, "which consists of your choice of turkey, roast beef, or corned beef on rye bread with coleslaw and Russian dressing. Recommended.

Totally my kind of place! Cozy and dimly lit atmosphere, great food, a solid selection of beers, and friendly service. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy a good meal and drinks🍻

Greeted like friends as soon as we walked in. Cold beer, great charm, and really cool that it’s the oldest pub in the city. Such a good vibe.

After a day of touring my family around the the city, our last stop was McGillin’s. Rich with history and full of lively customers, it was a great way to end the day. My cousin and I had $5 mimosa specials - sounded light and easy after our long day. But her husband had a beer flight which looked incredible and my boyfriend had a pint or two. Great prices and a great place to take a load off for a bit. We maybe spent $35 for the four of us.

First time I’ve left a review for any bar. This is definitely worth going to. 1) The Atmosphere: The owner has clearly spent a lot of time cultivating and curating a particular aesthetic, one of high class and privacy. I’ve been to almost every bar in Philadelphia, and most of the time, it unfortunately feels like most other guests are more interested in taking photos of themselves and the establishment. This is not the case here, and it’s a breath of fresh air. This is the only place in Philadelphia where it genuinely feels authentic, intimate, and most importantly, private. 2) The Drinks There is practically a dictionary of unique drink options. I brought two friends and all three of us, with significantly different tastes, found something we liked. 3) The Door When we came there was a line that wasn’t too long. When you get to the front the owner will explain the rules to you very clearly, which are all quite reasonable. I honestly don’t understand other reviews where people complain, I guarantee if you’re at least semi-competent you’ll be able to follow the rules here. It helps if you’re also privacy conscious like me - the no photography rule is an idea I wish other bars copied. For anyone who is privacy-conscious and wants a unique experience, this is definitely the place to go.

My boyfriend and I went to Hop Sing laundromat after we ate dinner in the city. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. I had been ranting and raving about this place since my best friend and I went there on our girls night out. My boyfriend was excited to go. Le is an amazing host and owner. He demands excellence but you get excellence back. He has two rules and a dress code, which is not hard to follow. I appreciate how Le used our names, too. Hop Sing is a place you get to live in the present and experience cocktails you have never had before. It was refreshing to be able to put our phones down and have conversations while enjoying the ambience of this incredible place. The mood lighting also helped set the tone of the place. Our waitress was attentive and did not over crowd us. She also let us take our time to enjoy our evening. I’m hoping next time I can try the cocktail omakase if still available. I cannot wait for our next trip to the city to experience this hidden gem.

Perfect evening! There are strict rules that are reasonable and clearly communicated. Lovely atmosphere, came here with my parents who have been many times before. We all tried each others drinks and every cocktail was perfect. Its fun, unique, and the service was incredibly attentive without being intrusive. Can't wait to come back.

My partner took me here for late night cocktails after a date night in the city, and I can't get over how incredible this spot was. Mr. Le, the owner, is very nice and funny, and the staff are all very attentive and kind. It was great to not have the distraction of a phone when I'm out with my partner, and we ended up spending about 2 hours here just talking with each other; which is kind of exactly what you want from a "date night". The intimate environment that Mr. Le has curated in this speakeasy type cocktail bar is one that you just have to experience for yourself. There are two rules: no phone usage, and no photography of any kind anywhere on the premises. As long as you dress nicely, don't act like an asshole, and don't break the rules, you'll have a great time :)

Hop Sing was one of the most phenomenal bars I’ve been to in the city, especially given my visit for an anniversary. Mr. Lê was exceptionally welcoming on a quiet Thursday night, and as first timers, I couldn’t be more impressed. The establishment has a very intimate vibe, and the rules Mr. Lê sets are very reasonable; no photos, cash only, and respect the environment and people in it. We got to enjoy 6 of the many cocktails on the menu, and each one was stellar in their own right, including some liquors and items not often found in most bars. Our bartender was spectacular, and took the extra time to ensure drinks were allergy safe for us; this gesture was much appreciated and it is not often seen at other establishments. Mr. Lê himself even came by a few times to chat with us and discuss our drinks and the philosophy behind his bar. I would also like to add that the friendliness of the staff and owner, as well as them addressing us by last name, was a point of service that I greatly appreciated. I cannot wait to return for another visit and one day try all the cocktails on the menu. Thanks to Mr. Lê, our bartender, and the rest of the staff- you made this night special.

I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place. Unfortunately, the bouncer was blatantly discriminatory, and the overall experience—from the service to the drinks—left a lot to be desired. There are so many great spots in Philly where you’ll be welcomed and treated with respect—this just isn’t one of them.

There is no food. So 4 stars for food. This is a great place for cocktails and specialty drinks. The ambiance cannot be surpassed and would be an amazing place for a secret rendezvous. No photos or phone calls allowed inside but it has a dark, candlelit atmosphere with elegant and quirky pictures and mirrors on the wall. It's eclectic and elegant at the same time. The servers are very knowledgeable and able to adjust any drink according to preferences. A Philly must.

Absolutely packed on a Friday Afternoon at 3pm! Monk’s delivers an authentic Belgian experience complete with original cold draft brews w mussels. The pub atmosphere is for real (especially in the BACK BAR!) and the bartenders are quite friendly. We did find the background music to be “not our preference” but you can’t go wrong with Belgian brews 🍻 that taste like something right out of the cellar of a Trappist Monk 🙏

We had a friend recommend this place and we’re glad they did! Love the atmosphere, as it’s down to earth, but very warm and inviting. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the food was really solid and the beer selection was crazy good. If you’re nearby and haven’t been to Monk’s, get there soon. You’ll be glad you did!

A really cool little Belgian beer bar - it reminds me very much of Belgium! Inside is all wood, the floors are creaky, and it’s bustling and noisy. The food is quite good and we were very happy with everything we got - the duck salad in particular is excellent! We have seen them win awards online for their duck salad and burger.

Tried good beer for the first time (I don't drink it often). We must've been so ravenous because everything tasted 30/10. The beers are worth every penny. Service was amazing. Will come back soon. We downed the salad within seconds. The thai curry mussels tasted ADDICTING that I was dipping my pomme frites in the sauce. Can't wait to come back!

We stayed in the area and randomly found this during a late night search for dinner options. Lots of places close by 8/9pm so we were pleasantly surprised to find Monk's which closes after 11pm. Good beer selection, great service. We enjoyed the mussels, fries, and steak frites salad.

Best beer bottle selection in America! Feels like classic Belgium style old-school saison brewery. Has A LOT of cantillion. Prices are competitive to store bought at a stylish homey spot. Owners all work here and crew is actually a group of beer enthusiasts. Food is great. Fries fried in duck fat only $6. 5 different styles of mussels to choose from and 5 different burgers. But indulge and get the cheese plate could literally be a whole meal right there! Lots of well behaved kiddos sitting with families so seems like a spot anyone can enjoy. THANKS, will be back to finish trying bottle list and food menu.

Food is so delicious. Mussels are usually my go too. Beer list is always great and always rotating. Always have my favorite Russian River brews. Completely chill place to enjoy with no distracting televisions.

Truly incredible dining! The service is great and while it’s definitely fine dining, there’s an air of casualness that makes you feel comfortable. The food was out of this world. The flavors mix so well and the order in which they come out just works!! We love the duck dish and the strawberry tarte.

Every dish is excellent. The best tasting menu I had in Philly so far— not like the others that are swimming in the deadly butter. The rice dish is so good that it is comparable to the best Michelin Gohans in Japan.

I've heard so much about this restaurant along with the James Beard Award. Every couple of months they changes up a couple of things on the menu in accomodations to the season. Every dishes crafted with precision and creativity especially the chef tasting menu. Friday Saturday Sunday is a celebrated restaurant known for its intimate ambiance and exceptional cuisine. Atmosphere The restaurant features two distinct spaces: the upstairs dining room offers a refined setting for the tasting menu, while the downstairs bar area presents a cozy, lounge-like atmosphere with a large fish tank and dim lighting, ideal for a relaxed evening .

I wanted to give this place a 5/5 so bad! Came here on a Thursday for a chefs tasting and wine pairing, the food was great/good, the wine pairing needs MAJOR work. Service was amazing but the food and wine pairing did not live up to the hype not worth the 900 if I'm being truly honest.

Wonderful staff, ambiance, and food. I opted for the prefix menu. Service was phenomenal. My friend and I were able enjoy a lovely meal with minimal interruptions. Perfect for special occasions or just a casual intimate dinner.

I don't get it. This is a good restaurant. The service and atmosphere are better than the food. Not sure why the ratings are so high or why Philly Mag rates it #1 in the City. But I acknowledge I'm in the minority. We had the 8 course tasting and while most dishes were good, nothing blew me away. Given the price point I felt at least a couple dishes should have been amazing. The eggs and caviar as well as the fish course were both very good. The rest were just good. The black tea cake was not good and the taste lingered until I got to my car and got a mint. The service was excellent and I liked the atmosphere. Bottom line, it's a good restaurant, but overhyped and not worth the money. Having said that you will probably disagree.

i love this place! this is my neighborhood spot--truly has some of the best bartenders in the city and a diverse clientele. i've had many, many interesting conversations here with both staff and patrons and have also met many new friends. and they serve their citywide ($5) (which they invented btw) with a PBR ($3 a can), which is the superior choice. i'm a single woman and usually go to this bar alone. whenever i've had problems with men here (happens from time to time, not the bar's fault), the bartenders have ALWAYS had my back (shout out to my girl, Kelly!!) both of the doormen do an excellent job of keeping things safe and in control inside the bar too. the food from their restaurant next door is exactly what you need after a night of drinking, and the events B&B holds are the shit. they have the best karaoke night in the city, and the drag night is absolutely worth checking out. the live music and dj's also never disappoint. and during football season, they have the games on (go birds!) it's a classic dive bar, maybe one of THE dives in the city. a MUST visit for any dedicated PBR-head. 10/10. oh! and also the bathrooms are clean!!!! what more could you want?? ps. it's cash only but there is an atm inside

A truly special and magical place that still exists. I hope it lasts forever. One of the beacons that keeps Philly unique. Looks like more tavern from the outside. Has these awesome musical notes bike locks. Live music. Incredible beer and shot specials. Crazy cool interior. Awesome bartenders and patrons. Protect this place at all costs.

Awesome spot. The jazz band was great, and service was fast and friendly. $3 PBRs hit the spot. Cash only, but they have an ATM inside.

This place is a must! Great vibes, divey setting, and don't forget to order the city wide special (PBR & shot of Jack Daniels) for $5!! We will definitely be back to this watering hole!

So much fun. A real good atmosphere and size. Seating at the bar or at tables. The times I've gone there's been live music, which has been awesome. I also see a DJ Booth set up. Good drinks. Good vibes.

Cool old school vibe, cheap drinks, great service and amazing music. A jazz band was playing when I went and the were fantastic. A PBR and a shot for $5. A great value that’s hard to beat. If live music and affordable drinks are your thing it’s definitely worth a trip.

Great bar devoted to Pabst blue ribbon 🎀.an excellent bar with good service,great vibe , and a great band. My buddy JoJo and I drank some citywide specials and jammed to Cyber funk. A versatile band who really killed it with some Bill withers jams

The atmosphere is what drew us to standard tap. The outside looks like a cute German pub and and inside is wooden tavern with warm lighting. The staff was pretty friendly and when we asked for a single drink between the two of us, they gave us two smaller glasses and split it which was nice. The beer itself was good. Nothing amazing but also pretty solid. The hazy was fresh and had a decent amount of haze. Overall a pretty good spot

I loved the atmosphere immediately. Great vibe but we were obviously earlier than the crowd and weren't greeted properly. Just wandered around and found a waitress. There is an upstairs bar too. The food was trying hard to be more upscale but failed in execution for a number of reasons. First every ingredient doesn't necessarily have to be listed on the menu, but tree nuts should not be a surprise. My wife got the beet salad and it had Macadamia nuts in it. Also it was lacking the one thing I want in a Beet salad, beets! My niece got the burger and she liked it, said the cheese was tasty. I don't think the pretzel bun was very pretzel. I just had a small plate because honestly nothing on the menu appealed to me. It was a very thin slice of ham with brie and peaches. It could have been good but the peaches were tasteless and the ham pretty much non existent. I heard the drinks were okay. I don't know. Seemed like a great neighborhood bar to hang with friends but wouldn't make a special trip or anything. I did get an appetizer that was okay. Potato balls fried. A bit pricey for what it is.

Was my first time coming for food and I would say if I went back it would only be for drinks. We got the tofu sandwich, fish sandwich, burger, grilled oysters, and crab dip. The crab dip was good. The oysters looked and tasted disappointing. The sandwiches were all a miss, no seasoning, needed salt, the sauces all just tasted like mayo, even the gochujang mayo had no flavor/spice. I also don’t get how you mess up a burger. The fries were super salty which was in this case welcomed with the unseasoned food. The side salad was randomly the best thing we had. It was so good with a mix of different veggies and a nice dressing. The service was fine one bartender/server was dismissive and seemed a little rude the other who was mainly helping us was nice enough. We would’ve said something about how disappointed we were with our food if we felt they cared. I know this spot is an institution and I’m glad everyone in the neighborhood loves it but won’t be back for food anytime soon.

Standard tap is a very nice bar brewery with a variety of beers 🍻 and friendly staff. We also enjoyed the music and the atmosphere. There is a pool table. Overall recommend it!

Cool place to go. Came out about 8:30 pm cool calm atmosphere. People are having a good time however quiet enough to have a normal conversation. This place has one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Their fries are equally good. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely stop by. Bartenders were friendly and poured well balanced drinks that taste good and have enough alcohol to make you happy. I can't reccomend this place enough

The space itself is very cool, with multiple levels and rooftop seating. The cocktails were the star of the show honestly. While I enjoyed my roast pork sandwich, it was so messy that I ended up cutting it into pieces to eat it.

Your venue/ bar was beautiful. I adored the setup and I loved the way you guys make your drinks and had a good time at the concert upstairs. Although, I’m not very pleased to hear how my artist was treated by your staff. I’m utterly disgusted actually. Get your mister micromanager in check. I’d come to the bar again, but definitely not a show again. Way to make him and his fans feel like shit. We’re all underground nerds and to make us feel so unwelcome in a space that’s supposed to be a place where we can finally feel welcome and like we “fit in” is just ridiculous. It’s disgusting. Be more accepting and treat my artists with respect, thanks!!! Definitely not good for a first impression of your bar.

Stopped into Johnny Brenda’s on a recommendation and I’m glad I did. The bar has that classic Philly character, worn in but clean with a comfortable atmosphere. Nik was friendly and quick behind the bar, making it easy to settle in right away. I ordered the smoked buffalo wings with a beer, and they paired perfectly. Music played in the background, just loud enough to set the vibe without drowning out conversation. Whether you’re here for happy hour or just looking for a relaxed spot, this place delivers.

Four star bar but five star service. There are not a lot of food and drink options but the bartenders are very friendly and the vibe is fun. Consider this for a happy hour spot. I would come back to try out their karoake.

Saw David Wax Museum here tonight and we were thrilled at how intimate of a setting it was. Two floors from which to enjoy the bands, and all the views are enjoyable. Philadelphia seems to be replete with fun, decent people. At least it was here. :) We'll be back.

Unplanned visit. Got fish and chips. Very good. Crisp batter, hefty fish portion. Chonky chips that weren't completely mushy like wedges. Saved to my list of places to grab a fish and chips in Philly. Drinks and atmosphere were okay; usual rowdy Fishtown bar on a weekend night. Decor and theme was cool. Definitely open to coming back again with friends.

I’ve been to Johnny Brenda’s many times without issue—but only ever for drinks at the bar. Last night was my first time sitting down for food, and the experience was deeply disappointing. From the moment we were seated in the back, it felt like the staff had a problem with our group. We ordered food, and while we were mid-meal—still waiting for the rest of the order—the manager came over and asked us to leave. The reasons? That we were “too intoxicated,” gave the server “attitude,” and were “refusing to pay the bill.” None of this was true. No one in our group had ordered a drink from the server. The only attitude came from the server, who seemed annoyed before we even sat down. And how exactly were we “refusing to pay” when the meal wasn’t even over?. It’s clear there was miscommunication between the server and management. I understand the manager was trying to support her staff, but what she was told simply wasn’t accurate. We were sober, respectful, and trying to enjoy a meal. If your staff doesn’t want to serve large groups, just don’t seat us. But asking us to leave mid-meal (while handing to-go boxes) —without receiving our full order—and then bringing over security? Completely unnecessary and over the line. Frankly, I wish we had been drunk—maybe then this whole thing would be easier to forget.

I grabbed some food and beer before the show and it was really good. The venue for the show was super intimate with a great sound mix!

Cool bar I stopped in for a drink and a rest. They were already on my list due to their menu. I should've come the previous night for those perogies. Their veggie/vegan menu gets plenty of good reviews and I'm really disappointed I didn't order any food when I was there. I was still hungover and needed a liquid lunch instead. It was early and the few people there were mostly for said food. Service was good and attentive. I liked their golden bar top, and could see the future drunken pictures of me in their go-kart. I didn't get a chance to check out the upstairs area. They also have daily specials which would keep me coming back.

I heard a lot about this place, but thought it was going to be grungy inside. It’s the exact opposite. It’s a really cute and fun inside. I definitely was sleeping on this place. Went here on the late night on a holiday nonetheless and the food and service was on point. They cater to mixed diets which is great since I’m vegan and my friend isn’t. We both ordered the corn dogs as starters. He had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and I had the Beyond Mom’s Vegan Burger. We shared some fries. To drink we both had the Tiki Kitty. I never had a corn dog before and enjoyed it and so did my friend. He really liked his Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. At first he didn’t think it was that spicy, but the spice kicked in and he was like I feel the heat now. I was worried my beyond burger was going to feel like something I eat at home, but they put their own spin on it and it was yummy. The Tiki Kittys were good, but I can’t say I tasted the liquor like that. This is a great option for reasonable food and it’s great they are open late.

I didn't have any food from here but the cocktails are great, the staff are friendly and I had this cute cat cup for $8 I am obsessed. This place is a must for a visit to philly. They have free arts and crafts on Sunday it was so much fun. 10/10 recommend!

I was craving a vegan cheesesteak on my way home from work today. I googled a search for it and this place was the closest and had excellent reviews on their vegan cheesesteak. It was the absolute worst one I’ve ever had in my life! And I was starving hungry! It was $18 for the cheesesteak and a bottle of Coke. I left a three dollar tip. This was takeout. I don’t know what kind of plant-based meat they used, but it was horrible. Even the roll just wasn’t good. It was like a day old roll. I’m really hugely disappointed for wasting my money. I ended up just picking it apart since there was mostly bread, and tossed half of it. I knew I I should have made that extra 1 mile trip and gone to Monster Vegan! I’m so sorry I didn’t!

I came here late night after performing in a show SO HUNGRY! I wasn't sure if the kitchen was still open so I called while I was on the way. Bobby was on the other end of the phone with such great energy letting me know that the kitchen was closing soon but to come on in and he'll be at he door waiting to take my order! I went and was not disappointed. Bobby was waiting there with such a postivie demeanor. My order was put in immediately so I didn't miss the window. I ordered perogies and vegan cheese waffle fries. While I waited for less than 10 minutes, Bobby kept me company with great conversation and warm hospitality. I can't wait to go back and stay rather than take it to go.

The ambiance is pretty abstract and cool. The server was extremely rude to us, our whole group hated the service here. I ordered the Mom's burger, the most average/basic burger in the world. The silver lining was that it wasn't bad.

Nice dive/punk bar vybe with a valid pool table and a good amount of vegan options on the menu. The vegan cheese sauce on the fries was kinda sweet but they have a great cheese steak. Deigo is a great bartender.

Bartenders were lovely, drinks were fantastic, vibes were immaculate! The bartenders in particular were happy to discuss the making process of each cocktail. Tourist friendly but in an intimate and chill way.

Fever dream of a cocktail bar. Found a used air fryer underneath the table and various wait staff passing by saying odd things throughout the hour or two there. Good drinks though.

This is a wonderful bar just off the square. I didn’t know it was available for a private function until my kids suggested it. We did a buyout of Franklin Mortgage last night for our kids engagement party. The staff were wonderful during the setup and though out the night. They were able to get us everything we needed and made sure we as the hosts had all that we needed. If you are looking for a party space for 100 people or less this is a fun and beautiful place to host a party this should be your first choice. The drinks are inventive and they created some custom cocktails for us. In addition, they had plenty of novel cocktails of their own to choose from. We were able to bring our own food in to customize the experience. We will be back to enjoy Franklin mortgage for a date night soon and recommending it to everyone.

A friend brought us here. When she told me the name, I was thinking "Why am I pulling up a financial marketing place to check in?" Got it! ATMOSPHERE: When looking at the facade of the building, you'd think there was nothing there. The only signage is a street light style banner that says "The Franklin" but has no mention of being a bar except for a tiny, cursive and almost illegible "A drinking establishment" wording at the bottom like fine print. You enter from downstairs to a nondescript door. Once inside you see human life. It's a narrow rectangular room that is a basement, with industrial decor, black ceilings and dim lighting. There's bar and table seating. They have no food here. DRINKS: On the menu was a long list of mixed drinks. No vodka is served here. Only a small wine list and an even tinier beer list. Being a beer & champagne drinker only, I opted for a boring beer. Sorry. SERVICE: I thought our female server was good but my partner thought she was having a bad day by the way she barked at him to say they don't sell vodka. OVERALL: Overpriced, and we would never have come here had it not been for our friend. I'm glad we checked it out though.

We had a great experience here. We assumed we can just walk in and sit at the bar for a drink. This was not the case. They did however accommodate us and gave us a table that was reserved, which was perfect since we only wanted to have a drink before our dinner reservations. The old fashioned might be one of the best I have had and they gave us shots when we got our check.

Delicious drinks, pleasant decor, not crowded or noisy, friendly staff, and friendly people to meet. Just know drinks are about $20 each. However, they managed to make Malört taste good

New space was nice however experience was lack luster. Brought coworkers from out of town, very disappointed. Half the menu was crossed out because they were out and the menu was smaller than before. Staff was friendly but only one bartender working, took 45 minutes to get our drinks. Would have been better off being closed for the night than trying to stay open for a poor experience. Really sad because the old place was one of my favorite spots and best drinks I’ve ever had. The drinks last night were sub par and not to the standard I would expect. Will not be going back or offering as a recommendation.

NYC-cocktail-bar quality place in Philly. Can a cocktail be life-changing? Yes, when it’s the Improved Whiskey Cocktail with the clearest ice you’ve ever known. Long, Slow Whisper was also amazing.

Lovely intimate cocktail bar with attentive and personable staff. Didn't get to try the food, but our cocktails were delicious, and the bartender happily talked with us about their large ingredient selection. They even brought us a sample of a liquor we were interested in the flavors of without us asking. So worth the out of state visit ❤️

Been coming here for years. Best drinks in town hands down. Worth the price. Best espresso martini by far. The March of Industry is to die for. Always a chill and cozy ambiance. Highly recommend. At the time I post this the bars rating is 4.5 - which is ridiculous and made me write this review. It’s a 4.9 bar if I ever saw one.

Such a cute little spot in Fishtown. The hip retro decor wasn’t trying to hard it juste was genuinely chic in with its mid-century but not tone. The staff were lovely and knowledgeable and helpful with choosing our cocktails while also giving space for us to chat and catch up while sipping our distinct and delicious drinks. We had no food only drinks but I would come back again for more drinks and a nibble.

I found my new favorite cocktail here. Some of the cocktails are absolutely delicious, and there’s going to be an option for everyone. Some seats are directly below a row of ceiling speakers that fire downwards (why?). It is deafeningly loud (like 100dB) and painful to sit there. The charcuterie board is a little underwhelming. Other than that, great vibes and great drinks.

I live in the neighborhood. Have for a while. I've been in the establishment more than a few times. The bartenders and people that work there are beyond snobs. It's over priced. My brother ordered an old fashioned and the server came back a few moments later to tell him they were out of the bourbon they were gonna use. He suggested Evan Williams as a replacement. That's crazy. Bottom shelf for a top shelf price. My brother opted for a different drink. Fast forward to the following Saturday night. I'm out with a friend and we decide to pop in for a fancy drink and they tell us no. Just straight up no. You can't just go up to the bar and order a drink. There's clearly space. So we leave and go to Johnny Brenda's. Always a good time. Upon leaving JB's at 1am, we notice that R&D has pretty much cleared out and only a few people at the bar. So we decide to try again. The same dude that served me and my brother previously in the week told me flat out no. It was 1am. Place is a joke. After talking with others about this place, it seems everyone agrees this a place for a specific type of person. The little hostess guy also had an insane amount of makeup on. Looked green and reptilian like.

My friends and I heard so many good things about R&D, and it did not dissappoint! Vibes were elegant but casual, drinks were diverse and we enjoyed everything we tried. It's everything you expect from a trendy cocktail bar. Sweet interior, great cocktail menu (whoever designed it-- I love you frfr it's so cute to look at!) and I can imagine this place being perfect for dates, celebration, or friends wanting to enjoy a night bar hopping. Every drink was fun and provided something different for us in both flavor and aesthetic. The service was fantastic and we never had to wait long for another round. We would have stayed longer, but we were there on a night where the kitchen was closed.

Incredible, high quality cocktails! Yes, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but the attention to detail and presentation is what makes it worth it. Our server was extremely attentive and made sure to top off our water frequently. We ordered numerous drinks throughout the night (probably tried half the menu) and were not disappointed with any of them. I look forward to returning!

Unfortunately, this was a letdown from start to finish. The blaring club music created an off-putting atmosphere, and the drinks were overwhelmingly sugary—so much so that we couldn’t finish either of them. While the bar concept is intriguing, it just doesn’t come together. The limited food menu feels mismatched with the drink offerings, making for an overall disappointing experience.

Went to r&d on a rainy Friday with a few friends. We sat at the bar witch was super cute and the staff was really friendly. I got the Baja blast margarita. Which was just a blue marg didn’t taste like baha from Taco Bell lol There menu is a calendar with drinks as the photos. I thought that was super creative and fun to go threw. The atmosphere is really nice and calm. I highly recommend for a date night or just hanging out with some friends to try some fancy cocktails. Will definitely be back.

The bar staff were lovely, the atmosphere is great and the band were very talented but we went specifically for the karaoke and I signed up when it started at 9pm and waited until 12:30am but my name was never called. After asking the lady running it how it works, it turns out you have to either know the staff already or bribe the band to play your song (after already paying a $7 entry fee). If you want to do karaoke I wouldn't recommend going here. Save your money and go somewhere else.

GO HERE. Although my sister ~did~ get served an expired canned alcoholic drink that made her stomach hurt…the Guinness and live band karaoke upstairs made up for it. The live band karaoke was PHENOMENAL and SUCH an amazing fun time.

Went in for a friend's birthday for a quick shot and if we didn't have reservations elsewhere we would have stayed! Bar staff was super bubbly and kind. The dark cozy lighting and Halloween decorations were a total vibe!

They will HOUND you for that $10 minimum but can’t even be bothered to crank the A/C. Honestly this place is just weird, and just like the other reviews state, the wait staff are rude and also weirdly presumptuous. My friends and I were initially excited to come here for trivia night. Before trivia, we stopped at a place that was basically next door for some ice cream. We ate our ice cream and realized we were getting pretty close to the start of trivia, so we entered the building with our basically empty ice cream cups so we could throw them out in there. Well this infuriated the one server. She came over and gave us a heck of an attitude and scolded us for the empty cups of ice cream, saying “there’s a $10 minimum each, ya know, and here you are with ice cream.” We said we fully intended to buy $10 worth of drinks and appetizers (which we did by the time trivia was over). I totally get that we shouldn’t come in with outside food, but 95% of it was eaten and we just needed to discard the cups at that point. We proceeded to order drinks, sodas, and apps to enjoy while playing trivia. This didn’t stop the server from going around to all four of us separately and reminding about the $10 minimum. I was so close to just handing the rude server a ten dollar bill just to get her to shut up about it. And to top it off, the wildly obnoxious trivia host also went on a rant about how each of the patrons needs to purchase a minimum of $10 food and drink. If your business is THAT stressed out about this $10 minimum, that raises so many red flags, including 1.) it’s just tacky to harass your customers for $10+ and 2.) it makes one wonder how well your business is doing if you need to remind your customers all throughout the night about the minimum. Also, if you’re that worried about making sure you’re meeting a certain quota for the night, just charge $5 at the door for trivia. That’s much less annoying. Oh, and lastly, don’t go there if you plan to be a designated driver or if you’re someone who doesn’t/can’t drink. I asked for a Dr. Pepper and the rude server said “we don’t have any,” so I asked for a Root Beer and she said “we don’t have want” and then I said Sprite and guess what… they don’t have any. Apparently they only have Coke and Ginger Ale. I get that it’s a pub, but it’s 2025 and almost everywhere has at least soda options for those not drinking. Very weird experience and a very hostile environment and I was sweating bullets the entire time because the A/C wasn’t on. Thankfully I have a different spot I usually go to for Thursday night trivia!

Was in Philly looking for a place to eat and found Fergie’s pub. The atmosphere is old time Irish pub looking. The food was pretty good although they overcooked the burger. I would recommend especially if you’re hanging out in the Gayborhood and want a place that isn’t very loud. Try the fried pickles they’re divine.

Save your time, servers are rude and disrespectful, place has a weird odor, definitely unclean, didn’t even stay for our beers since the servers were being so disrespectful. You would think paying customers would be treated with respect, then you would be sadly mistaken. Save your time, money, and aggravation with this place.

Super cool dive bar that felt very local but also a welcoming feel. There was a decent beer selection and there's no way to miss that this is a cash only bar. Service was good and music selection was great. Really enjoyed the vibe here and wouldn't mind going back. I read that it gets busy at night so we went some time after lunch and it wasn't busy at all.

Dropped by Oscar's Tavern on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised by the cheesesteak! The atmosphere felt homey, reminiscent of Ireland. The peppers cheesesteak came with three pieces and was deliciously cheesy. I'm not a fan of thick-cut fries, but these were crispy and well done! I’ll definitely return for a night out with friends.

This is everything you could possibly want in a good dive bar. Friendly people, a welcoming bartender, comfortable no-frills atmosphere, very reasonable prices, and cold beer. My mom and I were in town for a concert and were thrilled to stumble upon this gem. We were treated like old friends and we enjoyed chatting with everyone. A perfect experience!!

Dear Fountain Porter, Hi! I hope you all had a good shift tonight. I am sharing this review because I am in the industry, and it honestly hurts I have to write it... I know your burgers are delicious and beyond affordable. So when a guest ask if you take temperates on a burger, I believe he or she would or should receive what they asked for . I am pretty sure we may not agree on this. I say this only because who dares ask for a cheeseburger well done? It sacrilege, right?! Especially at 6$? How dare they? This guy right here. It's crazy. I understand you all are busy, but if I spend my hard earned monies for a simple 6$ cheeseburger, I would expect it done the way I asked. It is simple, right? I mean, it is a simple request for a simple cheeseburger. What's totally not cool is because I was truly looking forward to finishing and enjoying my cheeseburgers. It was my dinner and I had to toss both of them. I share this after I found a bent up staple in my cheeseburger the last time I was there- maybe the week before last? The only reason why I am sharing this now is because I thought to myself, " there is no way a bent staple was in my cheeseburger, and how can I even share this when the cheeseburger was on $6?" On top of that to get some med-rare burgers when there are 2 options - med rare or well done (maybe that is not the case), and when your guests have the option of choosing which temperatures, it is not acknowledged, and I come again to check you out? I will say this, the staff seemed genuine, yet busy. The fries were dope. Your guests were polite and friendly- I appreciate that. Am I wrong for sharing this? I mean, I am all about supporting the industry and small businesses when I can, but good golly. I was hungry. I had to toss the foods because I cannot eat burgers this way. Not Kool guys! Have a good shift!

Simple menu, great drinks and awesome vibe. If you want a great craft beer, excellent pour of wine or a cocktail this is the place. And…. The best $6 cheeseburger you will ever have. Love this for a pregame spot for south Philly sporting events and concerts.

The best burger in the city for $6 (better than a few I’ve had that are triple that price), superb fries, delicious pickles (I’m a pickle girl and these were amazing), awesome beer and wine selection. You can’t go wrong! I’m honestly bummed I don’t live in the neighborhood because I would be a regular if I was.

I walk from Rittenhouse to come here on the weekends. It’s one of my favorite places in Philly. $6 cheeseburgers that are so good and actually well seasoned. Amazing draft list and wine list. They have wine bottles and beer to go. Perfect fries and 4 different pickled veggie options to have as a healthy snack (green beans, carrots, dill chips, jalapeños). They have 1 TV and play local sports. They have a record player that always is cranking out awesome tunes. They open the windows when nice outside. It’s a special corner bar in the heart of south Philly/passyunk that is for sure.

I stopped by here one night for a brief visit. I ordered the burger and a well screwdriver. The burger was very tasty and pretty high quality, but I found that the bun was somewhat lacking in sturdiness and could have benefited from being toasted. Otherwise it’s pretty much a basic standard burger and should not be overhyped but definitely respected as a good burger. Getting sturdier bread and toasting it would definitely help, like I said. As for the service, it was pretty much good although there was a weird moment where the bartender seemed to gaslight me because another patron felt the need to talk to me about it after he walked away. She reassured me that I heard what I thought I heard from him and that I was “good” and his gaslighting was weird. I was literally unsure before this patron told me this so I appreciated her input. The atmosphere is loud, dark and cramped. That’s some people’s cup of tea.

No real stouts. Only the standard Guinness. The Founders Porter smelled and tasted like metal 😕 Music sounded heavy rock and loud. Typical tavern I guess. Shot and a beer type. Not my style.

The best cheeseburger in the world $ for $. I have dreams about this $6 cheeseburger. Outside of this bovine delight, FP is a favorite bar of mine to relax at; imbibing an excellent range of craft beers and listening to an all vinyl playlist. Great bar tenders. Truly a lovely dive bar. We were looking for a place in the area to settle in with a drink and our pizza pie and this place jumped out of nowhere. I cannot even begin to explain the theme of the place or the decor, but it doesn't even matter. We went during an Eagles game and the vibe was perfect for our pizza (you can bring in outside food). Cash only bar with super friendly service.

I was in Philly for work, and wasn’t sure what to do to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. I led him on a meandering walk that ended with the big surprise - a visit to Ray’s. We got the full meal deal VIP package birthday experience, met some sweet regulars, and watched Jeopardy with a full house. A perfect afternoon

With $4 citywides everyday feels like your birthday. Always magically has exactly enough seats for your whole group and not one other seat in the entire place. The regulars are drunk in a nice way and never mean. Plenty of drunk food around that is open late too. The pinnacle of dive bars.

My mom and I stopped in here for the first time to celebrate her 71st birthday. The bartender John was so genuine and made my mom's day by simply making her feel special and being kind. The whole bar helped cheer for my mom and wish her a happy birthday and the gesture was so sweet it moved my mom to tears. (Video proof). This place was adorable. The cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was eclectic. I’m gluten free and went with the tandoori chicken. I thought it would be an easy/safe choice but my mind was blown by how good it was! I would eat it again! My partner got the very glutinous fried skate sandwich and also enjoyed his meal.

This was a fun find! Multiple floors of bars and seating. Awesome vibe! The food was great and service really friendly. The fish and chips were great! Didn't care for the caramel tart dessert, but it wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. The seating was nice and comfortable. The only negative was the dust everywhere. It's a very dark place in general and gives the place a great vibe, but please dust more.

Amazing! We went for Sunday brunch and had the Sunday Roast. It was a juicy thick slice which seemed like prime rib and accompanied by the sweetest roasted root vegetables, roast potatoes, watercress salad, and the pop over Yorkshire Pudding which was quite large. The dish came with a small tub of rich gravy and a mild horseradish cream. While we came on an empty stomach, we had a lot of leftovers. Service was friendly and efficient. Our seats were on the first floor near the bar which definitely had an English Pub like atmosphere and decor. Highly recommend making reservations for this awesome experience.

We absolutely loved everything we ordered. We started the evening with fresh oysters on ice and a round of drinks, followed by the excellent mussels which came in a hearty pot with a fantastic broth. For the main courses, everything was fantastic. The salmon with chickpeas and roasted cauliflower was beautifully flaky, and the chicken with the yogurt-herb sauce over rice was so comforting and full of flavor. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. Definitely a new favorite for dinner!

We’ve loved sitting upstairs as it’s nice and quiet, perfect for a group. This time we ate in the bar area which was entirely too loud. Scones had extra sugar on top which isn’t classic. Salmon pate was good. Fish and chips were okay but nothing like from England, not crispy or flaky.

We went visiting Philly for a wedding. Strong English pub gastro pub vibe. Whipped Ricotta with toasted bread and omelettes with spinach and goat cheese. .My wife doesn't eat goat cheese so cheddar and add grilled mushrooms so I added grilled onions -red onions good. No coffee refill though water refill from on the table. 15 minutes to get the check. Very good local place. From Google Reviews off 18th and Walnut. Would totally go back. My Dad used to drink Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale. Did 't get it though was pleased to see it on the plus drink list

The food here is on another level—truly incredible. The atmosphere is very cozy, making it a perfect spot. Parking is available with two-hour paid street parking, or a nearby paid garage, and it’s absolutely worth the visit. Everything we ordered was incredibly delicious. If you have dietary restrictions or prefer gluten-free options, they have great choices for you as well.

If you are in Philly and a beer lover this place is a must. Discovered entirely by chance whilst I was trying to resolve another issue and needed somewhere to sit down and make calls, I blundered across the wonder that is the Khyber Pass Pub. Not only are the staff excellent, giving me one of their cables to recharge my phone, and take time to help a stranger with a problem, they also know their stuff and their beers. They also know their music, a great selection, loud enough to get lost in, if you are on your own, quiet enough not to distract you if you are having a conversation. The food is good and was one of the few places that got the portions right, enough to fill full, not enough to force you to waste or feel bloated. The range of beers is great, regularly changing, only found one that I didn't like and that was one of the imports. There are lots of good US beers, was really surprised to find English beer glasses. In the short time I was in Philly, this became a regular haunt. If you are in the Old Town, I would say this is a definite place on your list. If you're not in the Old Town, make the time to check it out, it's as an important part of the Philidephia experience as a run up the Rocky Steps.

Beautiful bar! The homemade charcuterie board was delicious. The cocktails were unique and delightful! The only thing that was disappointing was that the bartenders seemed distracted and couldn't wait to go home although it was still early. We were visiting from Hawaii and intentionally sat at the bar. They didn't attempt to engage in conversation with any of the customers on the bar.

Super cool and unique bar. They have a homemade bloody Mary mix. But the beer options are plenty and so unique. They have a cider with European apples, a peanut butter and jelly beer, and a fermented Washington cherry beer!

Went here for the first time for a late night meal on a Sunday. They have options for both omnivores and vegans. When we got there everyone was sitting at the bar and no one was in the dining room. We chose to eat at a high top in the bar area. As the night went on people came in and sat in the dining room. I ordered the vegan boudin balls and sweet corn succotash. My friend, who isn’t vegan, had the jambalaya and the surf and turf po boy. The boudin balls weren’t as flavorful as I would have hoped. The succotash on the other hand was delicious. I ate every last drop. It had so much flavor. When vegetables taste like that more people will eat them. My friend really enjoyed his food. The meat in the po boy was tender and the jambalaya had just the right amount of spice. I ordered the vegan bananas foster dessert to go. They packed it well with all the fixings in separate containers. I ended up not eating it until a couple days later so that may have played into the taste. It was just ok. I wouldn’t necessarily need to get it again. All in all this is a good spot to go late in the evening when you are looking for a decent meal.

One of the great burgers around in Philly. The smash burger has lots of flavor even with one layer of patty. However it is kinda pricy to pay for a double patty burger for $16. The beers are on point here, however the sweet potato fries are lacking and taste soggy.

Plenty of vegan options. My favorite is the vegan chicken po'boy on the Leidenheimer roll. Fun drinks, including a non-alcoholic option for shark week :) I wish they would bring back the vegan sausage sandwich that they had a few years ago on the menu.

Everything that my friends and I experienced here was phenomenal. The food - delectable. The staff - exceptional. The atmosphere - a highlight. The Raw Bar Tower is a must. Three of us split it with a side of fries and left feeling satisfied. It was the perfect way to get a good sized portion of everything including the oysters (both east and west coast), clams, mussels, shrimp, and two different seafood dips/salads. The lobster bisque was excellent and the presentation should be the standard for any restaurant serving it.

The place is beautiful. Real fire candles, old wood, real books sprinkled everywhere, the aesthetic was just amazing. The oysters and clams were perfect! The food portions and presentation was phenomenal. Lobster pot pie, are you kidding?? The cocktails were also great and impressive with the flavor combinations they put together. I wish I could have tried more of them! The manager Dani was so sweet and didn’t bat an eye when I asked if I could smell one of the decorative books. AND, the one I picked at random ended up being a second edition madame bovary! Will definitely return next time we visit.

Food was great 7.5/10 i will come back to try the plate meals I really like the oyster and the mussels were overcooked but the sauce was good and the bread was good. The customer service was phenomenal. I am not a pest when they come to getting on my waitress nerves. I’d rather not say nothing at all and just pay for everything but my waiter made sure that everything was perfect. He/ she sent once so we can be correct and they didn’t make it a issue and they asked me was I OK constantly checking up on me engaging into conversation and making me feel welcome.

This charming saloon located in the city's historic district is a great place to relax and grab some drinks. We were here for dinner. Our lobster fries was yum. The staff here are the friendliest ever. They were the highlight of our pleasant experience. Only complaint is shrimp & grits was messy to eat & not as delicious as it looked.

This is my second time being here but it will not be the last. I'm not normally a seafood (other than shellfish) person but I'm always glad I come here. The bartender was very nice, and the host person found us some space at the bar. The atmosphere is fun. Folks won't mention that the vibe is casual. Wear something cute but casual. Maybe a pair of jeans and your cool new graphic tee. The drink specials all sounded really good, but I'm a sucker for anything Earl Grey/London Fog/Lavender. The bartender made a "tequila drink" for my dinner guest because he doesn't ever know what he wants. The smoked salmon spread was bomb. I'm pretty sure the key to happiness is salting your fried bread. The crab fingers were a fun little snack food. They do give you quite a few though. For an entree I had the shrimp and grits and man was it more food than I was expecting. It was grits and etouffee, which was incredible. Just ask for no heads if you're weirded out by it. The happy hour seems great, I wasn't there for happy hour but I did read about the menu. Show up, show out, enjoy some great cocktails, great food, a chill atmosphere, and excellent company.

What a great experience. Me and two friends rolled in for a Sunday drink and snacks and came away very satisfied. Service was good, cocktails exceptional, and the seafood tower was delicious. Really loved the combination of east and west coast oysters alongside briny clams. Definitely will be back!

Great food and service. Warm atmosphere inside. The bar fries were fresh, hot, and delicious. With a creamy sauce, and sweet lump crab meat. The lobster roll was buttery and full of mayo flavor, with tons of fresh lobster. It was beautifully topped with a claw. And the chocolate caramel cake was decadent, melting in your mouth, so creamy and delicious. We couldn't finish it after everything else we ate.

Attended the botanical speakeasy popup last night and LOVED it! The staff is incredibly friendly and the food & drinks were delicious! Can’t wait to go back!

We had our wedding reception at Philadelphia Distilling on 8-8-25. Before deciding on Philly Distilling, we had been there about 3-4 times for happy hour. We always enjoyed their food and drinks, the staff was friendly, and, of course, the space was beautiful. Leading up to the big day, Nicole, their venue coordinator, helped us plan all the details. Jesse led us through a cocktail consultation to curate the perfect cocktail menu. On the day of - our guests loved the food (especially the short ribs and the mac and cheese), loved the unique space (both indoors and outdoors), and had nothing but great things to say about the drinks and the staff. Having our wedding reception at Philadelphia Distilling completely exceeded our expectations! We are so happy we picked this spot as our very unique wedding venue!

We went for the tour & tasting. We had a great time. Jonah did an amazing job. Especially for him only being there for 5 months. We learned a lot about the distilling process, history and overall business. The complimentary cocktails in the beginning were delicious. We went on the distillery tour which was lead by Val, and it was so fun! Learned some interesting history and had a great time with the group. The cocktail they gave at the beginning was great and it ended with multiple gin tastings. I hate gin but I still had a great time!!

Went there yesterday evening and loved it! Great environment with industrial aesthetic and relaxing vibe. The cocktails are great, I personally really like the Heiress, light and ethereal. Other than drinks, the food exceeded my expectations a lot. Really like the sour cream with herbs that came with the crispy potatoes. Also, the beyond burger with the parsley sauce is fantastic. Definitely try this place if you’re around.

Duck is delicious. I was enjoying the music playlist. Had a reservation and highly recommend one. I had the chicken special, didn’t love it but that’s just about me rather than the food quality. It can get loud in here. Clean but dark bathrooms. Easy to get to via the BSL

Very nice, little intimate French restaurant. The cheese board and escargot 🐌 were delicious. The fries were VERY salty and some were inedible because of the amount of salt 😖 Our server was very nice and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it!! Will definitely add this to the rotation

So. Good. This is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. An eclectic cocktail list, a rotating duck special, tasteful desserts. Bottom line, the entire menu is just... *chef’s kiss* Cannot recommend the duck specials enough! **UPDATE** More than a year later, TGKT doesn’t fail to dazzle. My partner and I just visited for outdoor dining and it was a phenomenal, comfortable, fantastic experience. Food is just as great as ever, and the cocktails may be even better than ever!! It’s worth noting that we’ve also gotten their burgers for takeout numerous times now, and they’re absolutely amazing. One of my top burgers in Philly no question.

Great outdoor seating on a nice quiet block. Cozy bar/dining room inside with a lovely crowd and friendly staff. The co-owner, Chloe and the manager, Patrick greated us personally as of we were old friends and went above and beyond to create a truly wonderful dining experience. Yes, the food is very good and the cocktails on par, but what distinguishes a great restaurant like this from the rest of the Philly gastropubs is their personal touch and commitment to service excellence. It's one of the few places that seem to genuinely care about their customers and will do everything to make sure that you leave happy, full, and a little tipsy. I highly recommend the Good King... Tasty food, nice heated outdoor seating, friendly staff! Some unique food items in the menu. We and the kids especially enjoyed the chickpea pancakes (Socca). The cocktails are also surprising, most have unusual ingredients in them. If you feel like experimenting, you should try one of their cocktails.

What an awesome hidden spot. Great drinks and great snack mix. Be sure to try the Bartender’s Choice- these mixologists are so experienced and skilled, they will definitely give you a drink that you’ll like. Looking forward to bringing some friends here again.

Hidden gem with top-tier cocktails! The Ransdell Room is a true speakeasy experience—intimate, moody, and full of character. We didn’t have to wait long to get in, and it was totally worth it. We went with the bartender’s choice, and the server asked a few quick questions to learn our flavor preferences. The drinks they came back with? Spot on. Perfectly crafted, unique, and tailored to our tastes. Definitely one of the best cocktail experiences we’ve had in Atlanta. Highly recommend for a lowkey date night or a chill evening out.

Such a cool spot to enjoy some amazing cocktails in such a cozy atmosphere. The menu is simple but diverse, but what I thought is really cool is the last option is tell the bartender what you like and he will create you a drink which my fiancé did. Our bartender Sam hit it out of the park with her likes, and I ordered the La Intensa which could have been one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had it was beyond delicious. I will be returning for that drink, Sam’s experience, and an awesome atmosphere

Awesome speakeasy style bar. Small (15ish tables plus bar space) and doesnt take reservations. Got lucky that there was a table open when we walked in as it was the last one. Booth was comfty, mood lighting was romantic, music was a bit odd for the setting (latin-ish vibes) but not distracting. Drinks were great, had the bartenders choice which resulted in a good interesting drink. Lots of liquor options too and snacking food looked solid.

I love the ambiance here... dim lighting, candlelit tables, and that speakeasy vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. If I hadn’t known the door led to the bar, I would have walked right past it. The cocktails are fantastic. While there’s no real food menu, they do offer a few small bites like olives and popcorn to snack on. This spot is perfect for a romantic date night or an intimate evening with friends. Definitely better suited for smaller groups.

I really want to gate-keep, but this place is such a gem...the service, the drinks, the atmosphere is exactly what you need to enjoy an adult night out. Nothing watered down here... The decor is sexy 70s chic, it's dark, which made me love it even more...come ready to drink and be merry. No reservations, so there might be a wait list when you arrive. This establishment does not allow standing, so if there's no bar or booth availability, you can wait to be seated. I've come multiple times, and I'm still a fan. Hey, management...good job!

American Sardine Bar…is just a bar in Point Breeze. The best things about this place is it looks cool from the street and has an attention grabbing name. I’m sorry, I don’t know how else to say it…ASB is in need of a BAR RESCUE! It’s dark inside and smells funny, like a toilet tart. I have yet to see anything on the menu to justify the price and to be perfectly honest after sitting upstairs and observing their food service in action will probably never order food there again. The sad part is there’s potential. The name alone grabbed my attention. I’d walk the neighborhood thinking “Hmmmmm, sardine bar🤔….sounds different, you’ve got my attention.” Being excited to go after a long day at work was anticlimactic, ESPECIALLY when I look at the menu and decide to walk home and eat leftovers. This is only my opinion…..which is exactly what my friends told me when I asked them about going. If you want a drink. Great! Also great if you like basic food that cost too much. I don’t mind paying for good food and service (like Insatiable down the street) but when you’re not providing an experience to justify your pricing…..well🤷🏾‍♂️

This is such a cozy spot with great food and vibes! The wings, sauces and fries were so good! Tasty and reasonable portions for the prices. The cocktails were also good and paired well with the food. My friends went on a Wednesday evening and it was comfortable with the warm dim lights and a pleasant crowd (not to noisy or anything). The customer service was fantastic as we were seated quickly and didn't wait long for our food. Erin was our waitress and she was so sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable, especially with helping my friend navigate the menu with his dietary restrictions. Overall, this feels like your local cozy neighborhood bar and I'd definitely come back! The only thing I can't speak to is sardines which is their special (I don't eat seafood haha) but that's probably good too!

Last night I went for the first time! I got a great seat at the end of the bar where I could watch the rest of the restaurant. Very cool and relaxed atmosphere and a lot of people so clearly popular. Felt adventurous and tried the tin fish board and it was very good!!! So much better than I was expecting tin fish to taste, and some great fresh bread and sides that elevated the whole board. Delicious crisp wine and beer paired well!

Loved this spot and would highly recommend. The waitress was extremely kind and the food was reasonably priced and very good. Great spot and would highly recommend the olives and almonds as an app and the key lime tart as a dessert. The sardines and homemade chips were also very good!

Amazing place for sure! I love everything on the menu. I’ve gone here anytime a friend needs to be cheered up. Good system and nice customer service. Easy walk and sit down outside. Very safe system, heaters and beach seating. Cute backyard and lovely ambiance with the outdoor lights.

An Irish pub that serves Italian food? Yeah! And it's great! Be mindful that they run out of food as the day goes on, I didn't get to try the meatballs, but I'll be sure to come back to get them. Everything they served was delicious!

This is a really cool hole in the wall kind of local bar you want to come back to every week in your neighborhood. They have very good Italian food which is so unique for a bar setting like this in my opinion. We got the meatballs which were above average but our entrees stole the show. My husband got the seafood manicotti (or something similar) and I got the somewhat spicy pasta & vodka with sausage. Both were very good and I’m not even a huge Italian food gal. We finished off with the crème brûlée cheesecake which was super unique. Cash only! Very chill vibe with high quality Italian food, we’ll be back!

TLDR: I will never ever return here Let's start with the pros. The location is nice and the caprese salad and their classic margaorta was pretty good. The host and bartender were both very nice. The cons. It is cash only. Menu is limited to basically cheese and pasta, not a lot of protein options. The wait service was terrible. Our waitress was super curt and not friendly. She told us we had to put our entire order in at once. We could not start with appetizers. They gave us this piddly 3 mini piece (see picture) bread basket which looked like it was just swapped off another table and refused to give us any more. The fried burrata tasted like cold mozzarella sticks. The drink menu online did not match what was available at the restaurant. Recommendation? Stay away from this place!

I've been here several times, always a good vibe. This time I was here for a company (Mindset) get together and everyone had a great time. Of all the times I've been here,I never ordered food, always had drinks. Let me tell you, their double margherita pizza is sooo delicious, probably the best margarita pizza I ever had (hands down).it was so good, I went back there the very next day, just to have it again 😁.

I came here last year for my bachelorette & we came here again this week (07.01.23) for my future sister-in-law’s bachelorette and it was an absolute blast both times. We were a few minutes late (this happens when you try to get 9 women to do anything at the same time) and the staff was so nice about it. They were absolute heroes when it came to taking pics for us and they were such gentlemen in helping the ladies get out of the ping pong tub. The place was so clean, even the bathrooms despite it kind of being a bar. The whole space is fantastic for photo ops, including the bathrooms, the red room, the pong tub, the wall seats, the bar, and the actual Photo Booth. The music was such a hit, it wasn’t all new stuff that not everyone knows yet. There were some epic early 2000 classics in there so the 20’s & the 30’s had a blast. My two sisters are in recovery and don’t drink and I was DDing this time around and even sober, we all had SO much fun. This place is inclusive and an overall blast. Definitely recommend for any type of party or just a night out - or even day, as it opens around 4/4:30.

Perfect private event venue. The team could not be nicer or more accommodating. They think of everything and are one step ahead. The woman behind the bar was friendly and fast. The food was good and had big portions. The atmosphere was great except that it was extremely loud. It is a bar, so perhaps expected. We also had two very loud talkers/laughers there when we were there, so the noise level may vary depending on the clientele. At any rate, it was a cozy neighborhood bar/restaurant.

I loved it here. This was the second time I've been there, the first time alone. Chiara was so sweet. The food was delicious. I had the shepherd's pie. They brought out HP sauce to go with it. I tried a bit and it was so good, but I ate the shepherd's pie mostly on its own without the sauce. Be careful when you go on and leave- there are steps leading in and out of the restaurant. Great experience overall! If you're looking fit a great Irish Pub in Philly, check them out.

I got this take away and for take away it was good. The fries were delicious and the fish was cooked to perfection. I will have to try this hot and fresh at the restaurant! Will be back!

I visited for dinner several months ago and then was part of hosting a large group for a private event list Wednesday night. Everybody in the group raved about the food, both in terms of quality and the timeliness of the service. This included various appetizers, for which the lamb chops were absolutely a hit, as well as the dinner. Even the dessert was good. The drink selections were terrific and the Irish coffee was wonderful.

Cool spot . Stop them here after a comedy show. I want to see Steve-O. The upstairs area was pretty packed. The downstairs was quite more relaxed. Slower paced environmend down there compared to the upstairs . There may have been 3 stories not sure . First time . I'll def stop back sometime.

I recently had a private party for about 60 guests at the Black Sheep. Everything went super well and my guests and I were very happy. The managers that we worked with, James and Jon, were very accommodating and helped me to customize everything to make the party exactly what I wanted. The pricing was reasonable, and the food, drinks, and service were great. I would highly recommend throwing a party here!

First stop after flying into Philly and it didn’t disappoint! The fish and chips were hot, crispy, and perfectly breaded, and the wings hit the spot. An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Sitting at the counter was a highlight — watching the chefs work with precision and grace was a show in itself. The service was warm, attentive, and thoughtful. Every dish impressed, from the oysters and blue crab to the thai spiced lamb chops and pasta special. We were even surprised with a complimentary serving of the grilled shrimp. The blueberry pie was the perfect ending — just sweet enough with a beautifully flaky crust and basil ice cream on top. A standout meal in every way.

We had one of our best dining experiences here. The snapper ceviche and lamb chops were some of our favorite. The sweet potato dish was amazing. I give the service 7/5 but it didn’t let me select more than 5 stars

Vernick was simply delicious. I had a business dinner with a couple of colleagues and we ordered at least seven different dishes. I am not exaggerating when I write that each dish we tried was wonderful. There was a tremendous amount of flavor as well as beautiful preparation. The entire menu seemed to have nothing but Great choices. I would certainly recommend this to anyone traveling to Philly or coming into downtown and I very much look forward to my next visit.

There are always a few “reference” points that exemplify what an experience should be. Vernick has been that reference point for me since it opened more than a decade ago. Somehow they have managed to maintain “peak” experience over time. I am seriously never disappointed. I cannot recommend the kitchen bar seating more highly. This is where you get the vibe and the show. It’s like The Bear without the yelling and dysfunction. Chef de Cuisine Billy is breathtaking in his confident but exacting presence. This is where you will see the great chefs of the next 50 years refining their skills. I exhort you to Pay Attention. Put your phone down and soak this up as the extraordinary experience that it is. Alex, who was my attentive server tonight, and every single part of the staff will show you what peak performance looks like.

An excellent first time experience at Vernick Food & Drink. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable, and friendly. From drinks to dessert, we had a great time, not rushed out the door like some restaurants. The lamb chops, sea bass, and halibut were perfectly prepared. The desserts capped off a perfect evening.

Vernick is probably the most conflicted 4-star review I've ever given. There is absolutely no doubt that they serve great food with impeccable service in a wonderful space. However, for a special occasion dinner where we spent a lot of money, there were many small details in nearly every course that added up over the evening that frustrated us, especially considering that most dishes were on the verge of greatness. Despite some incredible moments that we loved, it did fall a bit short. Our cocktails were fine, I enjoyed the "iris" as a walnut forward manhattan riff, though my wife's "jade tiger" tasted like a daquiri I could have easily made at home. We are also treated to an amuse-bouche of a tiny shot of butternut squash soup and a gougere. It was actually very baffling, as the soup was unremarkable and the gougere was dry and hollow/empty. It was fine, but we both agreed the meal would have been better if they simply had omitted it. Fortunately things picked up nicely for the appetizers. Nearly every toast on the menu sounded amazing, and we ended up going with the foie gras which was beautifully rich and the grapes complemented the dish well. It was a bit clunky in its presentation as there was too much of each component overflowing and constantly falling off when trying to take a bite, but it was elevated and pleasant. The king salmon was solid with pear, lime crema, and basil, though again came across clunky with awkwardly torn herbs and odd cube chunks of pear. The best, and simultaneously most frustrating app was the octopus. It was magnificently charred, and when you had a bite of the octopus with the pickled lemon and olive it was a perfect dish. Unfortunately, there not even remotely enough of the pickled component on the plate, meaning that two out of three bites were just lacked any acid and was just the octopus, which wasn't great on its own. It was somewhat emblematic of the entire experience - so close to being great if there had been just 15% more care and thought taken. For the mains, I had the smoked duck breast, which was absolutely perfect in every way and is one of the top entrees I've had in the entire city. The duck was beautifully tender and the incredible rich pear mostarda was tangy and zesty. Underneath some nicely pickled cabbage were charred tropea onions that tied everything so well together. I strongly recommend this dish! Unfortunately, my wife's entree was a completely different story. The grilled sea bass's skin was so excessively charred that it completely overpowered any other flavor. Despite the fish itself being tender and flavorful, it was close to ruined and difficult to enjoy. We also ordered the roasted beets with ham and fig which my wife enjoyed. Service was excellent and helpful, making recommendations and being attentive throughout the evening. Though we didn't end up ordering dessert beyond a glass of port, they were kind enough to bring over a tiny jelly candy with a candle on the plate to mark our special occasion which was thoughtful and appreciated. In summary we certainly enjoyed our meal and I have no doubts that others may have had a "best in the city" type experience. The duck dish in particular made it worth it! But for the premium we paid, it would be difficult to justify returning soon when there are other similar-quality experiences with a smaller price and lower expectations.

Came here solo per a recommendation from the bartended at Friday Saturday Sunday. Had SUCH a good time! The salmon, sweet potatoe, chicken, Sazerac, and chocolate bitters cocktail were amazing! They also made me an off menu affogato for desert. Can’t recommend this place enough! Amanda the bartender was so great.

The mussels at Chickie and Pete’s are absolutely fantastic — perfectly steamed, tender, and loaded with flavor. The garlic and white wine sauce is rich and addictive, especially when paired with their famous Crabfries. Everything came out piping hot and fresh, and the portion was generous enough to share (though you’ll want to keep them for yourself). The staff was upbeat and attentive, and the whole place has that fun Philly energy that makes you want to stay for another round. Easily one of the best spots around for seafood and a good time!

This is my first time visiting Philadelphia and I must say the food here is so good!! Chickie’s and Pete’s added on to my satisfaction. I had a club chicken sandwich that was very juicy and crispy and flavorful. The Crab Fries were really delicious and they did a wonderful job with my Strawberry Margarita. 10/10 🤩

Grat place before and after an eagles game. The dungeness crabs and Alaskan make your own crabs boil were way to salty. The vegetables in the boil were oily and bland. It would have been nice to receive a spoon/fork to collect the meet from the crab legs. The waitress was super friendly. Overall, a great place to be after the Eagles vs Giants game!!!

Since April of this month my family of 4 has been going to different locations thrice a week. My spouse discovered that he wasn't allergic to seafood and we've just been coming nonstop.

Ate here years ago and remember it being decent. Came for an Eagles game in my most recent visit. Place was packed. Bar service was good considering the amount of people. Had the famous crab fries... They were real good. Awesome place to watch an Eagles game, feel that local team fandom and energy!

We stopped in for a quick happy hour cocktail on our way to dinner. Our server, whilst not particularly friendly, did make sure we knew about the 20% service charge - at least three times. Just one point - I have no issues with a mandatory service charge,if it is going to the staff, but linking it to Covid in 2025 feels a little inappropriate. Anyway the Fallen Earth cocktails were great. Very herbaceous and refreshing.

Small cute spot that's great for small plates and wine. We got the French connection cheese board which was great and enough for 3 people to share. Great red and white wine options but we weren't a fan of their cocktails. We tried the mushroom panini and it wasn't that great and so we didn't try any other large plates.

Made a quick stop while walking around Rittenhouse Square. Even though they had cute sidewalk seating for the perfect sunny day, we opted to sit inside near the front where the big window they had was open. Service was quick, we kept it light because we only wanted some small bites and wine, but they had what looked like great options for food if you wanted something more substantial. My husband got a glass of Amaro and I got a Negroni Sbagliato. We ordered the Cheese & Meat board. It was all perfect and so delicious. Would definitely come back for a proper meal, or another light bite and more drinks!

Went here with a friend for wine and a light dinner. We sat outside and it was lovely. Service and recommendations were good! There is a decent selection of wine and we got a bottle plus three apps and a few oysters. I would have loved to seen more variety on the menu. There are a few main dishes but they are primarily salads and sandwiches which can be difficult to split. We had already gotten the burrata and another cheese based app or else we would have done the charcuterie board which we were told was mainly cheese and less meat. We felt like the menu was fairly priced for the portions and wine selection. I’d recommend making a reservation as the space is smaller and can be full on a weekend! I will definitely be back!

Great first experience here! The wine selection is a nice size, without being overwhelming, the cocktails all sounded so good and the one I got (fig sour) was excellent. All the cheeses we got were amazing and the accompaniments of jams and honeys went so well with each one. The truffled mushroom bruschetta was so damn good I might go back just so I can have that again! Service staff was very attentive and friendly and the music that was playing really brought it all together - sick soundtrack. Great ambiance, amazing food and drinks, incredible service! Thanks !

One of our favorite bar/restaurants in Old City. Consistently excellent service at the bar or a table. Friendly staff. Live music Sundays , Tuesdays, and special events. The food is SO good. Handicapped accessible (there’s a 2nd floor, but bar, restrooms and main dining area are accessible. Fireplace in the winter. Outdoor tables on the sidewalk for nice weather. Everything is wonderful here!

The atmosphere at the Plough & the Stars was vibrant and cheerful. The live Irish music filled the space. Our waiter was attentive and courteous. I ordered the Fish & Chips. The fries were overcooked, and I didn't eat them. However, the fish and the homemade tartar sauce were very good. Oh, but the best thing was dessert. The Toffee Apple Bread Puddin's a la Mode, a fancy name for an apple pudding lol, was incredibly delicious!! In fact, it was so perfectly done that I'll go back just to eat that pudding again! 😋🍎🥧

The Beer Battered Haddock Sandwich was fried to perfection and soup du jour (Seafood Chowder) melted in your mouth like butter. Definitely check them out. Totally worth it!

What an amazing find! Really great food and ambiance. Not a topical Irish bar that is dark and food kind of ok but greasy. We loved the appetizer lamb lollipops and Brussels sprouts and fish and chips and steak Fritz! Lived the cocktail seasonal offers and the fact that the owner was walking around and checking on everyone. And the fire place is a huge plus! Will definitely go back!

We hosted a wonderful celebration at The Plough & The Stars for about 50 people recently. We utilized the top floor mezzanine area. We had a private bar and butlered hors d'oeuvres. We worked with Marion to prepare for the party.. very friendly and easy to deal with. We were able to use the big screen to show a slideshow of the guest of honor. The staff at the Plough & The Stars who serviced our party were fabulous. Patrick, our bartender, kept the drinks flowing and Rebecca did a wonderful job with service. KatieLynne, the manager, kept checking in to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. We hope to book another event with the Plough & Stars in the near future!

The chicken fried steak was amazing. It's mostly due to the rich and delicious country style gravy. The meatloaf was also fantastic, but the chicken fried steak was a little better. Couldn't go wrong with either. I wish we were around to try a few other plates on their menu. Service was friendly and prompt.

Me and 3 pals rolled up to the Plough on a Monday evening and was made to feel so welcome by the really friendly owners sat out front. This soon became our local in Philly as the food, booze, service and atmosphere was superb, couldn’t fault it. Every single member of staff were super friendly and made you feel very comfortable. The owners and Austin have nailed it. Guiness was unreal too

If you enjoy a German Oktoberfest style venue this is a really cool spot from the front room all the way to the very back. There are neat little details that make you feel like you’re in another place. I didn’t eat any food except for a pretzel, but the beer selection Was exceptional with all imported German, or in that region beers.

We’ve been here four times now and it never disappoints! Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient! Best beer selection in the city. Highly recommend the flights for a flavor expedition. Pork shank feeds two and falls apart. Watch some college football on a Saturday afternoon in their back room.

Excellent food. Spatzle was on point. Beef rouladen was excellent. I've had that at 5 other places and this one was the best. Still, it cant beat black forest inn, stanhope nj (but thats the best restauranton the east coast), but its a close second. It more of a beer hall feel. The decor was very cool, they had a few very very good appetizers on the menu. Overall I will definitely be visiting this place again, we'll worth it. Also, its fairly inexpensive compared to other restaurants. Everyone i was with gave it 5 stars, so do yourself a favor and try this place out

Came here to celebrate Oktoberfest. I don't even like beer, but the "beer wizard" did a fantastic job picking one for me. Loved it! Definitely will be keeping it in mind for future visits.

Large German brew house, I finally got to scratch that itch. They were the end of my bookstore buying spree, and I was weighed down by several paperbacks. I parked it at the bar and was tempted to buy a boot of something but kept it breezy. I got a couple of .5L of the pillsner and the lager. The pils was light and refreshing after a hot afternoon walking around. The lager was surprisingly malty, almost brown ale like. A little heavier than I was looking for still really good. The last German spot served me cinnamon churros instead of a real pretzel. And while not traditional, the krabbenbretzel hit the spot. I thought it was going to come with a crab fondue type sauce, but it was large chucks of crab and cheese baked on top. Unexpectedly good, and filling. There were a few others at the bar drinking and eating plus several tables in the bar service area. The bartender was still prompt and attentive given they were the only server at the time. At some point I'll actually order some actual food instead of a pretzel and their menu is a good candidate. Lots of traditional German delicacies, plus a few modern mashups.

Always wanted to try wienerschnitzel, so this was my first time and I got this schnitzel sandwich. I found the sandwich to be tasty but the meat was dried out. I got a Caesar salad as side which was good

Went there on Saturday evening for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and our server was very friendly. My only complaint is that it was a bit loud in there and difficult to have a conversation but otherwise overall a great experience.

Hey not a bad dive bar in Philly. Went with a friend for early dinner. They have a good happy hour and also military is 20% off. So that’s always a plus. Food was hearty and had flavor. Staff was friendly as well. The prices are on the price side but it’s Philly everything is gonna run you $15 and above. If you ever need a bit to eat check it out.

We ate at Good Dog Bar on a Friday night before a show at the kimmel center. We got the mozzarella sticks to start. They were warm and the cheese was good but we were severely disappointed that at $10, we only got 2! mozzarella sticks. A table next to us asked how many come in a serving and the waiter said “like 3”. I’ve noticed in other reviews the photos have 3 mozzarella sticks. Why we only got 2? not sure. For drinks, I started off with a Sippin pretty, which is supposed to have gin, blueberry shrub, cucumber water, and lime. It was very sour and did not taste of blueberry. My partner thought it tasted like pickle juice (an image that ruined the drink for me hehe). I was not unconvinced this may have been the wrong drink delivered, but I decided to get the hot girl punch for my second drink, which was way better (9/10). My partner got the down east blackberry, which he enjoyed. He also got the stuntman raspberry sour which we also thought was very good. The draughts were overall more successful (surprisingly sweet) and had better options. For our mains we got the short rib grilled cheese and the good dog burger. These were real highlights. The fries were crispy and delicious. There was plenty of short rib which was juicy and went perfectly with the buttered sourdough bread. The waitress recommended a medium cook on the good dog burger to melt the cheese on the inside of the patty. My partner thought the burger was very well cooked and had great flavor. The bar has great ambience. We loved the pictures of dogs on the wall and the waitstaff was polite. We did not love the portion sizes on our app nor the construction sounds in the back, but we will definitely be returning for the mains (yum).

Imagine a cool dive bar but it’s clean, the food is high quality restaurant meals with supremely talent chefs, fantastic beer selection, and incredibly friendly and sociable service! I love this place, it’s adorable and my poke bowl was phenomenal, the mozzarella sticks were to die for. Amazing stop if you’re a Philly visitor!

Got kicked out for confronting the white male bartender for intentionally ignoring me as i waited to order a beer after i came out of the restroom. I walked inside. The tall black bartender greeted me normal and asked to use the restroom. Bouncer told me to walk straight ahead for the restroom. I came out of the restroom to sit at the bar and I try to make eye contact with him but attends other customers. This went on for 10 minutes as I sat there waiting and decided to get up and walk to the spot where the bartender was laughing with a customer. I firmly told him that I had been waiting for over 10 minutes for service and he doubled down and told me next time to order a drink first before pissing. I told him that you cannot treat customers and judge them by their choice of order a drink vs using the restroom. He was just so angry that I simply told him he needs to work on customer service and he’s got no right to act like a brat in front of i don’t know…maybe 5 customers that were sitting close by. I didn’t mean to humiliate him. However, I’m not waiting and expecting a google review for some justice. I took it in my own hands (well, my tongue) to balance out the narcissistic bartender’s energy and then he raised his voice louder to say get out and I smiled and walked out because I made my point. I don’t know who this white male bartender is, I don’t know how many bartenders work there. I chose return the next evening same time. Same bartender. Went to the restroom then order wings and a beer. He treated me like nothing ever happened. That shows me he was under the influence of something the night he reacted. So, poor customer service is one thing. Bartenders working while under the influence of some substance might be illegal and I’m sure this breaks a few rules with the city. That bartender is a liability. I suggest firing him.

Got served this sweet puppy at good dog. Waitress was a female dog through the whole interaction. She argued with me that I don’t know what I was talking about and that it was cooked perfectly. I guess I’ll just have to ask the audience

My daughter and I were there for lunch on Sunday, before the Eagles open-practice. Our server was super attentive and friendly and our lunch and drinks were awesome! Great way to kick off our fun day!

Honesty, there is one too many stools at the bar. Happy hour is bomb digg. I enjoyed the mussels so much all I have is a pic of an empty plate with drinkable goodness. It pays to know a Good Dog.

Our first stop in Philly and we will be back! The 10 spice wings were so good we put in a second order. Our server, Emily M., made our night. She's personable, funny, and made us want to return. What a great place!

The hotel is fairly standard, offering common amenities without anything particularly special. However, it's a good spot to hang out as it's centrally located, making it convenient for exploring the town. Overall, a decent place for a stay if you're looking for something in the heart of the city.

Nice looking spacious beer bar, also strongly sports focused. Easter Monday at 6.30pm and the place was basically empty. Remained empty til closing time at 9pm but that didn’t bother us as we were having a long overdue reunion, so were anyway only focused on our own company. Good beer selection on tap, tried 4 different brews and also tasted fresh 👌🏽. Took short rib nachos, fig & goat cheese chicken samdwich and the med chicken salad. All passed the taste test and looked the part, 10/10. The bartender Mike also took care of our bar table, and despite being new there (I believe), was very friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and provided quick service. Kudos Mike 👍🏽👍🏽. Solid TV setup, would be interested to see how it is on a big night with sound on and packed out 💪🏼

Food was amazing and service was great. Drinks were a bit pricey, but it is Philly and they were very good. Would definitely recommend stopping in on Monday when they do 50 cent wings(only in quantities of 5 or 10).

Good atmosphere, mediocre food. I got the fig and goat cheese grilled chicken sandwich, it was pretty average. The fries were great though! The hummus platter was underwhelming, the pita was stale. The poke bowl was bland with not a lot of tuna.

Our server was Bryan he is very nice patient and helpful we were happy to have him as our server!! The food was beyond amazing. The Ceasars salad was the best I have ever had in my life it was like a Caesar vinaigrette dressing which was to die for. The pork nachos were also amazing. These 2 items alone are enough to share and fill up 2 people. I also ordered a burger and because of the salad I had high expectations for the burger and it exceeded my expectations. My wife had the shrimp and grits she said it was amazing also!! Top ratings all around for this place!!!

Walked in for some beer and a bite to eat. My wife sat at a table while I went to the bar to order. Three different barmaids and 15 minutes later still no drinks or payment. No menus on the table, none offered to my wife. Finally waved someone over and got some menus. Then ignored by every server who could see we clearly wanted to order. Finally the person who gave us the menus came over, only to tell us the kitchen had shut. Awful service, avoid avoid avoid.

SUMMARY: Overall the food presentation was nicely done, but I wish the tasted matched for most of the items! My wife and I went out to dinner and we each got their loaded potato soup, then split an order of nachos and a bacon cheeseburger. I would return back simply for the burger and to try a few other menu items, but there are definitely some things to watch for - including the deteriorating ceiling in the rear corner of the restaurant where someone placed an old fish tank in effort to collect the rusty water and plaster falling and blend it into the eclectic decor (photos attached). SERVICE: Dinner rush service was interesting to observe, from the entry point staff seemed to have some great conversations that, at times, took priority over attentiveness to guests. I could tell the hostess wanted to greet us but someone who looked like they worked there was in a deep conversation with her (gotta shoot your shot when ya can I guess?), it took her a few attempts to break his conversation but once she did we were immediately seated - no harm there, and she was very kind on our brief walk to the table! Our server was overall ok - she wasn't super attentive, mistakenly forgot to place two soups (I will say she apologized and quickly made up for it by bringing a fresh bowl out), and, after we finished out meals and she cleared the table it took about 10 minutes for her to come back so we could ask for the check, while our table, and others around us, all sat there looking around ready to pay and leave. While this was occurring we watched them having conversations, playing on their phones, and just hang around avoiding making eye contact - which is fine, but an interesting practice for customer facing positions. FOOD: Loaded Potato Soup: 3/10 - this was different than anything we've ever had before - it had a very strong chicken soup base to it, and it tasted more like a bell pepper chicken soup with some potato in it than it did loaded potato. Also, the bacon on top was super crispy which is great, but it tasted like cocoa? Very interesting. Not sure I'd try it again. Nachos: 7/10 - they were ok, some moderate char on the chips, but they were pretty tasty. Bacon Cheeseburger: 10/10 - the star of the show - I could have gone for 5 of them - excellent taste and season, great bacon, lovely toast on the buttery bun, The fries served with it were awesome as well.

One of the coolest bars I’ve been in. The decor and layout was so cool! The service was incredible, Tiarna thx for the heads up about driving in Dublin! The food was so good. The stringest mozzarella sticks we’ve ever had. The the Philly was so good! This is definitely a bar I would frequent if we lived here. Thx again for the amazing lunch!

Fantastic Irish Pub. Always try and come here when we're in the city. Authentic pub feel inside. Fish n chips is fantastic. Today our server wasn't great though. She barely spoke to us and did the bare minimum but everything else was great!

I enjoyed my stay here. I went on a date with my guy and we both really enjoyed our meal, drinks and just overall had a good time. Workers are nice and patient. I got a turkey pesto ciabatta sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was good and the side salad was simple but delicious. Mixed greens tossed in a vinaigrette. My guy hot a crispy chicken BLT wrap with a side of fries. He liked it a lot! For drinks I got a lavender lemonade (vodka) 🤤🤤 and he got a pornstar martini (vodka and prosecco) Only downside was it’s just always way too crowded. I mean, it’s right next to the college so it’s also understandable.

I always visit a pub when I go out of town, gotta have my fish & chips. We had a good time and the atmosphere was delightful.

If you want a friendly pub experience in University City then this is a place to go. Outdoor, indoor and bar seating with televisions inside to watch sports. Several nights a week there will be live music. The service is consistent and friendly. Food is much better than you’d imagine with a good bit of variety. Expect your meal to come out fast! Extensive beer selection too. Overall a great place for a lunch or dinner.

Frankford Hall, located in the heart of Fishtown, Philadelphia, is a modern take on a German beer garden with a hip, industrial feel. It seems to be a popular spot for both locals and visitors thanks to its open-air layout, communal seating, and casual vibe. With ping-pong tables, fire pits, and long wooden tables, it has a lively but relaxed energy — especially in spring and summer when the outdoor area is fully in use. Frankford Hall is surprisingly kid-friendly during the day and makes a good casual outing for families, especially if you’re looking to introduce kids to a lively, cultural setting without it feeling too formal. Just avoid late-night hours and keep expectations flexible. This place is more “family-welcoming” than “family-focused.”

Tons of space, very friendly, and most importantly: delicious! Came here for a date night and had never been before. The hall itself is a spacious and open, with a wide variety of games to play and seating options. You order your food from the window in the back right, and the staff that welcomed us were really friendly and helpful. Prices are a bit elevated, but it’s Fishtown in Philly. You also get what you pay for! Our food was delicious—I got the burger and my partner got the schnitzel. Both were served hot and very quickly, and tasted extremely fresh. The fries were very good as well, and the Bavarian pretzel we shared was so tasty with a nice cheese sauce on the side. Overall, I had a wonderful time here! Will definitely be visiting again!

When considering activities for a Saturday night, whether in summer or winter, it's essential to reflect on memorable places that consistently deliver a satisfactory experience. One such location is Fish Town. Although parking can be a challenge due to limited spots, each visit has always been enjoyable, making it a worthwhile destination to return to time and again. I want to find my prefer beer: Hofbräu München Original… never is available.

Wife and went here for the first time and so impressed. We sat at the back tables. After a few minutes we realized we were outside..with trees and lights could hardly see the sky..anyway fun night and good food, good beer.

The atmosphere alone is what gets this it's rating. The sunny courtyard with large trees, brick architecture, and plenty of large oak tables makes this amazing on a sunny day. They even have vendors on the outskirts of the courtyard on some weekdays. Inside has nice tables with good warm lighting and a ping pong table. That being said, the beer is decent and the canned beer is pretty pricy (upwards of $15 or so). I know that must be a philly thing but I'm still not use to canned alcohol being so expensive. They can come in a stien which is good but not a big deal for the size. They also have beer cocktails which not many breweries can say and even though I didnt have the coctail I tried the beer it goes with and can tell it would be a good choice. The staff was friendly and helped with recommendations and samples. We are more hazy people and there weren't any even with their big list but I think that is just not their style. They have tones of janga games but no other boardgames which was a little disappointing but not a big deal either. Overall a great place to go with big groups esspecially in good westher.

A classic staple of Fishtown. Can't go wrong coming here with some friends on a Friday or Saturday (or any day really). Huge beer selection, decent food options (go for the pretzel), and a lot of games like Jenga to enjoy with your friends. I appreciate that they have heaters out in their beer garden during colder weather. Finding a table to sit wit friends can be tough at times depending on what time and day you go, but its totally worth it.

Went in to Townsend for happy hour with some friends and had a wonderful experience. They have a great happy hour including drinks and a tasting menu that is a great deal. The menu is creative and the atmosphere is cozy. The staff were so kind and friendly. I can’t wait to return and try more menu items

Was fine, cool atmosphere, clearly used to be a house and they make it look inviting. Low light switch candles, and a excellent liquor selection. Hous enase cocktail list was lacking considering I saw aheat seemed to be a dozen bottle of house made tonics. Also I would say the cocktail I did get (espresso martini) was very small. Perhaps it was a childs size? Not sure. I Would go back. Staff wasn't pretentious which is the thing that could easily happen in a place like this.

Absolutely stunning. I brought my two elderly friends to the restaurant and the people were professional and attentive to them. My two elderly friends didn't know how to speak much English and so the waiters gave us extra time to read the menu and let me translate the menu for them. I didn't expect that level of service in Philadelphia. The welcoming atmosphere, not silent, is warm and welcoming. The pace of the meal was spot on. The food was amazingly deep and good. It has depth. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone going to Philly.

Have you ever eaten a meal, and halfway through you stop and think I am so grateful for being able to eat this......no? Me either, until last night, at Townsend. It was that good. Fois grois mousse, amazing. Sweet, savory and silky, rich and addictive. Escargot: my wife said it was possibly the best dish of her life. Really well balanced sauce and flavors, the fava beans were perfect with it. Steak tartare: rich, decadent, delicious. Scallops: nice sized seared scallops with a citrus sauce and tomatoes. Great flavors, colors, and perfectly seared. Beef marrow bones, mushroom croquet. OMG, first time trying thearrow bones and I will order it any chance I get. Amazing flavors, just spooned it on the fresh sourdough....and closed my eyes in thanks. Ribeye: I'm a steak guy, and I make a lot of steak, bbq etc. It's hard to find a really good steak, IMHO, at a restaurant. This was just a ridiculous beautiful perfectly cooked ribeye, for 2 people. The absolute best steak I've ever had. No doubt. Dessert......the souffle was so smooth and decadent.

The small room in the back creates a romantic atmosphere for any special occasion. If you tell them in advance that you are celebrating a birthday or anniversary, they will personalize your menu for that occasion, which I think is a special touch. As for the food, the flavors, variety, and presentation are fantastic. Highly recommend picking several dishes to try. The oysters were an amazing appetizer and the steak is definitely on point and cooked to perfection.

Usually my favorite place for a good night of singing! The piano bar is great for singing show tunes and other popular songs. However, I will say the last time was questionable. The pianist sang a lot more than I expected. I'm not sure if that's a requirement for him, but it felt like every 3 songs he would also sing. This is fine, but his attitude to having people talking while singing was rude. I was next in line discussing with my friend on whether or not we should duet, and in the mic the pianist decides to tell us shut up in the middle of his own performance. I have sung multiple times and never demanded people to stop speaking just to hear me sing. This is because I know its not my show and I am in a bar. It will always be loud. But as I said before usually love this place. Just not a fan of how the pianist handled the situation. I've seen it happen before with another person. Hoping it doesn't happen again

We came to the tavern with a group of 12 and started in the basement for dinner. Everything was delicious. The martinis, wedge salad and fish and chips got stellar reviews from the group. The fried mushroom sandwich was raved about as well. We then went to the piano bar for karaoke and then up to the top floor for dancing. The staff, particularly Lauren at the bar downstairs, were all outstanding. Super fun place!

It's always a nice place to visit while in Philadelphia, they always have events, drag shows or performances. The place is usually full of weekends. Bartenders are super nice and they a a pretty decent selection of beers and liquor. It's a 3 floor venue and every floor has a bar and usually different kind of music

Tavern on Camac is such a fun and lively place! They have live music and piano performances that create a great atmosphere. Upstairs, you can head to the second floor to dance and enjoy the night even more. The place is very clean, and the staff are super friendly. Definitely a great spot to spend an evening out

I've only been here a few times over the years to grab a drink and dance a bit with some friends. Atmosphere seems the same each time - relaxed, fun, and easy going, though a bit hard to hear given the small size of the place. Definitely not a place for large groups to go to unless you're having a private event. Can't speak to the food but the music and dancing is decent.

I met my date here for a light dinner (my idea) and it was a very good experience. We were going to meet at the bar downstairs but ended up meeting in the restaurant instead. This restaurant is so nice. The service both at the downstairs bar and the adjacent restaurant is absolutely great. The menu is really good. I'll include a photo of it. I had the Wedge Salad and Fish and Chips with a Diet Coke. And my date had the New York Strip Steak. And everything was really good. If you want to meet someone for dinner in Philadelphia, this is the place. It's quite friendly environment and it has a very good vibe. I highly recommend Tavern on Camac.

Went on a Tuesday night for karaoke and was incredibly happy with our AMAZING karaoke host and all the great positivity. As an ally I felt welcomed. You’re on my list of places to share to my queer friends traveling to Philly!
