We've been twice to an Hans im Gluck in a 10 days holidays in Germany to tell how much we loved it. The burgers are absolutely delicious, the combinations of tastes are original, the bread and the meat are of very good quality. The ice teas are also incredibly fresh and tasty. The sauces too are original and very tasty. Each time we encountered a spotless, fast and friendly service by the waiters. The decoration is very cute, inspired by birch forests & nature, it feels cozy. Totally recommend trying this restaurant, we loved everything :)

Beautiful place! Feels like you’re dining in a forest and the service is as good as you’ll probably get in Germany. Burgers are yummy but the fries were dry. Sauces were very bland.

Today we went for some burgers to Hans im Glück. We had a great time! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was really cozy. Our waitress Kira was super friendly and did an amazing job. She spoke very good Englisch by the way and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely come back!

Tonight I went to Hans im Glueck am Ring — it was my first time in Cologne. The food and drinks came out really fast The waiter was really nice and started talking with me. He explained the menu in Arabic in a really good way. I asked if the meat was halal, and he was honest and said no, but they had a Vegetarian burger. It was my first time trying one with spinach and cheese, and honestly, it was super tasty! This is what I called a good service

Really cozy vibes, I loved the vintage style tables and decoration. There were this cute napkin notes inside of the table drawers with messages and poems <3. The pancakes was far beyond my expectations, with lots of fruit and this really yummy runny almond butter!! Note that you can’t pay with card here, but it’s definitely worth a trip to the atm (or use PayPal)

We stopped by Hommage Café for a spontaneous breakfast and were able to get a table right away, which was great. However, the space is extremely tight — very little room between tables and not the most comfortable seating. The ordering concept also felt a bit off: you find a seat first, then queue at the bar without a menu, order there, and later queue again at the same bar to pay. It created an unnecessary hassle and took away from the experience. That said, the food itself was nicely prepared and beautifully presented — you can tell they put care into it. The coffee, on the other hand, was rather average. Although nicely presented, for my taste the cappuccino had way too much milk and lacked balance. Tasted more like hot chocolate. Overall, good food, admirable effort, but the setup and comfort could be a bit better.

We had a wonderful and delicious experience for Sunday Brunch. Expertly crafted coffee and tasty breakfast. Their back and side outdoor space offers a little nook of peacefulness. Highly recommend checking this spot out on your travels

Soooo yummy! I had a savory crepe with goat cheese, honey, walnuts & fruit. Big portion. The flat white & cappuccino were so good & the foam art was so pretty! The presentation was very lovely. Açaí bowl was awesome!

The food was absolutely amazing, gluten free, dairy free options. Our pancakes were well presented, so tasty! We also had freshly squeezed OJ- lovely fresh start to the morning. The real downsides lay in the means of paying- only PayPal or cash. We hadn’t seen this on the sign when we arrived. Only carried 15 Euros around as most European cities I’d been in lately were cashless. So me and my partner struggled our way to make a PayPal account which took longer than we fancied. Also no toilet :(

Perfect langoustine, the risotto is a star on its own, while the bolognese served with the lamb was delicious! Very good French wines. Good service and the location is very pretty. It is an expensive place so good to keep that in mind.

My husband and I were in town for work and a friend back home suggested this restaurant. I was able to make a reservation online which I appreciated, since I don’t speak German. I was able to correspond with the restaurant via email and they were very quick to reply. Yelp has this listed as formal attire and so I quickly emailed them to cancel my reservation. I got an immediate reply back stating that was not the case. I was so relieved! We walked there from our hotel and as we got closer, I was sure we were going the wrong way. Luckily google led us correctly and we arrived right on time. There was no door to open, rather you pulled a thick curtain back and you are immediately transported into a lovely French bistro. You are greeted by a host to confirm your reservation and then seated. Several people waited on us in English. Our menu was also in English. We decided to do the tasting menu with wine pairing. We were not disappointed. Every single dish was not only a beautiful presentation, but it was seasoned perfectly and tasted divine. The service was also super attentive and friendly! My husband and I both agreed that this was by far the best meal we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant and even though the price point was on the higher end, it was absolutely worth every single euro!

Not worth it, don’t even waste your money. Food is mediocre and overpriced. Chef was offended when we asked if the fish could be cooked a bit more (undercooked) and denied that it was. Not too much going on in Cologne in terms of French cuisine, which explains why they even got two Michelin stars. I’ll take a trip to France to get better French cuisine. Meh.

Very good food at such an affordable price. However: (1) you can only pay by cash and (2) one of the guys was rude, he said in German: Don’t order food and eat it here when you see that there aren’t any seats. Close your eyes and you’re standing in the middle of a “souk” in Lebanon. A German one for that matter, but still. It rowdy, it’s loud, and you smell good food. And then we’re not even talking about the taste, this is one of my favourites so far in cologne. It taste perfect and if you pay the bill before you start eating it will taste even better. This is a place where I could sit and eat for hours! When people say that cologne has a lot to offer this is what they are talking about!

Very good value for your money. You get generous portions too. The drinks were also very affordable. They have an extensive menu (also vegetarian friendly). The food tasted great, I especially liked the crispy falafel pieces. The only point of critique would be the roasted vegetables, as they were a little greasy. The seating space inside is quite small, but we managed to get a table with ease around 6 pm on a sunday. The food came within 10 minutes. I enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere. Very nice place to eat if you want something simple and afforable!

This is one of my favourite places to visit whenever I am in Cologne. The interior is nicely eclectic, the Arabic music is always fun to listen to, and the food is good and very reasonably priced. Their best dish is falafel. It is really superb because of the huge amount of fresh herbs in the falafel mixture! The shawarma can be had better elsewhere in my opinion. Tldr: 5 🌟 I recently had the pleasure of dining at Habibi Köln, and was immediately impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they were happy to make recommendations. I started my meal with the Namaste, with Chicken, basmati rice, vegetables etc. The dish was flavorful and filling, and I especially enjoyed the fresh vegetables. I also tried the Baraka, the dish was also very flavorful, and I could taste the spices used in the cooking. To finish my meal, I had ayran, a refreshing yogurt drink. The ayran was the perfect way to cleanse my palate after the heavy dishes. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Habibi Köln. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in Cologne.

The restaurant has self service which I don't mind but was shocked that the food came immediately. The staff wasn't friendly. For them it was only to quickly serve the food and then serve the next one. The food was cheap but also very dry. For a cheap eat for a take away is not bad but for a sit down I am quite disappointed.

Food 4 | Service 5+ | Atmosphere 5 Came here because of online recommendations. The staff for sure are super friendly with nice smiles and extremely helpful. The gentleman, who served me, helped me out on the German menu. He also provided lots of recommendations Food-wise, the scramble egg with ham I ordered was hot and fresh, the bread was a bit tough (but I guess it’s German style), the salad is not the most ideal but nothing to complaint about!

We had a really great breakfast at Cafe Schmitz! The staff was very friendly and the place is very quiet and peaceful. Perfect to go for late breakfast with friends on a weekend. There was a bit of a wait, but in the end the food was very nice, so completely worth the time we waited. It wasn't expensive at all taking into account that the amount of food per plate is quite big.

I waited for over 20 minutes, and the croissant is fxxking cold?! Did you fxxking run to a supermarket to buy a cold croissant?! And the coffee is blend. My wife’s latte macchiato had a piece of mug inside. How disappointing.

Good restaurant in general and food is really tasty. However for a customer support i would recommend to be more interactive. Falafel and pita were the best. Also the hummus seemed very fresh and tasty.

I ordered the Shakshuka hummus with falafel and pita and it was DEVINE!! Absolutely the best hummus I have ever tasted. The only bad part is that I live nearly 5,000 miles from here and may never be able to eat it again 😫.

Last night, I had the Hummus of the week: hummus pesto rosso potato (comes with 1 pita bread) and a malabi pomegranate. Both were delicious. I will definitely go back! It’s also better if you book a reservation in advance so you will not have to queue for a table.

The best hummus place in Köln. Having eaten hummus for years in Wadi Nisnas (Haifa, Israel) I must say this place is the one which resembles the flavor the best. Their falafel and sabich are also very tasty. You can even find Goldstar beer there (גולדסטאר) if that's what you are into. Keep an eye into their social networks (Instagram or Facebook) to find out their special hummus of the week which most often than not it's amazing. Overall you can notice all the attention to detail and love they put into Mashery to make it a great place. Say yes to Hummus! Extras: - During the week you can (and should) take advantage of their lunch deal. - The service is good and the staff very kind and friendly. - Super nice decoration. - You can also find them on Vytal and pre-order and pay for your food through the app which makes it super convenient. - The pitas are very tasty and very well worth the 1 euro price.

Stunning food to eat and photograph! The combination of hummus and pita is just *chefs kiss*. They offer a great selection of dishes as well as sides, and able to cater for vegetarians. The place is not so big but it does have a few tables outside. The interiors are decorated colourfully, matching with the well-plated food. I will definitely be visiting Mashery again.

One of my best experiences with Thai and vegetarian dishes! I absolutely loved it!! Begging with appetizers, having the main course, drinks, and finally the heavenly dessert. A truly delicious journey! Tofu in all dishes was so soft and flavoured. Some options are a bit spicy so be careful if you are sensitive to spicy food.

An unbiased comment: Positives First: (As long as you don't encounter the unfortunate accident I will write about below) it’s a good place to get to know Vietnamese food culture. The food is delicious. Portions are large and extremely filling. The menu is extensive and the place has a warm atmosphere. Let's get to the negatives: Since it is a very small restaurant, you have to sit close to people. There is always a queue at the door and waiting in this queue is tiring. They may give you a little shock in 2024, as only cash payments are accepted. The waiters are very tired; It is normal that they cannot handle this intensity, but inevitably this makes you nervous too. Worst of all, there was a strand of hair at the bottom of our bowl. We are not prissy people and we didn't make a scene. No matter how bad it is, it can happen to you in places like this. But from now on, you should consider wearing a chef's hat or bonnet.

I've been there several times over the last years and they don't disappoint. Food is yummy with fresh ingredients and the portions are big. Prices are fair, which makes me happy, since the cost of life is so expensive. Here you can treat yourself with a home made drink for 5.5€ and a good meal for 12-14€. The staff is patient and friendly. I recommend you to arrive there early to grab a table without waiting (we met with my friend at 17:30) and we were eating by 18 hrs. The food is anyway worth waiting for. We had the green curry (with udon noodles) and I had the yellow curry. Will definitely come back again!

Only takes cash! Drinks were great, as was the atmosphere. Food was a little disappointing, a little bland but with a lot of coriander (that I personally don’t enjoy, and always ask for people not to include, but it wasn’t mentioned as an ingredient on the menu, so I didn’t.)

We always go for the vegan options, and since this is a fully vegan restaurant – the very first in Köln, as I was told – the choice was easy. It was a real joy. The food was very tasty and left us full in a pleasant, satisfying way. We sat inside because all the tables outside were already taken. I’d recommend reserving a table before you go – we were just lucky to get one.

I think even 5 stars are less for the food and overall experience. I am a huge fan of Vietnamese cuisine and this restaurant food stole my heart ❤️ Every dish we have ordered from starters to main course was super delicious 🤤 The quantity of the main-course was really good. We had the 4 course menu. The tuna starter was amazing and the final steak/fish as well. In fact i think the steak was one of the best I ever had. The second course was a pasta that had an amazing sause but we think they lost the cooking point. We asked to return and the new one came the same way. Desert was not so nice either. Service was slow in comparison with other redtaurants. In summary we would return but not for the menu.

Even though there were vacant tables, everything was marked as reserved. Having traveled to several countries, I found this to be one of my least pleasant dining experiences. If guests are not welcome without a reservation, it would be better to communicate this more politely. Some of the comments made, such as “you don’t need to come back,” were quite disappointing.

From the freshly baked Pita, the appetisers, to the three main dishes, everything tasted absolutely delicious and creative. A feats for the taste buds. The red wine Ampeleia from Toskana also perfectly accompanied our early dinner. Located conveniently in Südstadt, it is a perfect place to finish of a day after visiting Rheinauhafen and Chlodwigplatz. The interior is chic but casual at the same time, leading to a comfortable atmosphere. It is great that phaedra offers a discount for early Saturday dinners.

One of the best spots for casual fine dining in Cologne! - Update: after several more absolutely wonderful visits phaedra not only confirms the rating, but manages to one up itself almost every time.

My partner and I had a wonderful time eating here. We got a table for 2 without a reservation, but I would reserve next time to be safe. Our waitress was friendly, the food didn't take very long despite reviews suggesting it might (though it would be worth a wait!) and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food was fantastic! I've never had sushi this fancy, vegan or otherwise. All the flavours were delicious, I strongly recommend the mixed platters for more variety because they were all tasty and unique. Fantastic service - eventhough we hadn't booked, we were well accommodated. Kid friendly with baby chair offered and they even gave my child a bowl of rice and soy sauce which he loved. Lovely staff. Delicious and creative sushi - All freshly made behind a small kitchen. Would recommend the mixed platter. Each sushi was bursting with flavour and textures. Presentationally everything was beautiful too.

I've visited Cologne several times over the past year, and every café and restaurant I’ve tried has been a pleasant surprise — until now. Wo ist Tom? is the unfortunate exception. The service was shockingly poor, and the staff showed a clear lack of interest in their customers. We waited nearly twenty minutes before someone finally approached us — only to toss a menu onto the table without so much as a glance or a word. When we went up to the counter to speak with someone directly, we were met with visible disdain and contempt. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a coffee in Cologne, the city has plenty of great options. Just make sure you skip this one.

Cozy and warm atmosphere. Went thee on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty packed. Don't expect a quick service especially if you want to dine in! So it's a nice place to go for a sloooow sunday. My favorite cafe in Cologne. The Omelette is my favorite. 4 eggs, BIG and tasty. For some, it might be too much, if that's the case better sharing it. But a it is a good portion for 1 person.

Great vibe and friendly staff. They had an English language menu which was very helpful - worth looking at the back as to why it’s called ‘where is Tom?’, too. The portions are generous, the prices reasonable and the food delicious. Heads up that you can only use card when the total of the bill is greater than €10.

Being vegan, my first time in Cologne was great! We came to Café Rotkehlchen to have lunch. How to choose when everything is vegan here?? Thankfully our waiter was awesome and kindly gave us recommendations for the food on my photos. All of it was delicious! Choose the panini when you’re hungry and a bagel if you’re less hungry. I had a vegan salmon bagel and that’s why I had space for the amazing piece of Spaghetti-eis cake 😍🍰 We had a nice chat with the waiter about where we’re from and also explained and showed me what the very German ‘Spaghetti-Eis’ was that the cake was named after. They had so many pies and cakes to choose from, I wish I could have tried them all! Definitely a must visit if you’re vegan but also when you’re not! The atmosphere is great and the service is even better. Will for sure come back when I’m in Cologne next time. 🌱

Just stopped in randomly as I passed by to visit a friend who lives in the area. I knew this place was vegan, so wanted to try out their coffee skills. When I noticed the schrank full of tasty naughty sweet things I could not help myself but order the nutty caramel looking tart to go with my Hafer Cappucino. Devine naughtiness.

Cute vegan cafe with great atmosphere, nice music and attractive vegan provisions. The service was impeccable. However the drinks and cakes we ordered were all pretty lame and flavorless. We had dirty chai, orange mint ginger tee and Americano, and also three different kinds of cake. Veganism is not an excuse for bad cooking. As much as I'd like to support vegan shops I can't say anything was actually tasty.

First Cafe for me in Cologne and it did not disappoint! Cute and small, very nice atmosphere with seating for one! I had very nice Cortado coffee with Oat milk and a Focaccia sandwich with goat cheese for lunch, savory with a bit of sweetness, very tastey. They have an assortment of cakes, and have mainly vegetarian and vegan food. Lovely experience all in all.

As an Iranian visiting with my Turkish girlfriend, we were pleasantly surprised by the food here. The quality and flavour exceeded our expectations. I can be picky about vegan versions of traditional Iranian dishes, but the vegan kebab koobideh was juicy, smoky, and visually spot-on. The Mirza Ghasemi, made with tofu instead of egg, tasted just like the original. The staff were warm and welcoming, offering fresh herbs, vegan white cheese, and lavash while we waited. It truly felt like being at a traditional Iranian table. A fantastic experience — thank you to my Iranian friends for keeping the culture alive!

Hands down THE most delicious vegan Persian food I’ve ever had. If you are looking for Persian food that is vegan and you are in cologne you have to go here. The koobideh and mirza was amazing! We ordered the Vorspeise platter, vegan koobideh and my friends ordered normal kabab soltani (in case you have people who are not vegan).

Who knew Persian food could slap this hard? A friend dragged me here (bless them), and I honestly thought we were going to a carpet shop. Surprise! It was a flavor explosion instead. First time trying Persian food and I’m now questioning my entire culinary upbringing. Every bite was a warm, spiced hug—tender meats, fluffy rice, and portions big enough to make your jeans nervous. I came, I ate, I unbuttoned my pants. 10/10, would go back and accidentally over-order again.

Good place to enjoy some warm, flavourful meals. Felt very authentic and best part was the number of vegan options. The rice dish 'Adas Polo' I ordered was very well spiced and the proportion was very good, quite filling. Coming to the price tag, it isn't very expensive nor very cheap but very well priced for its quality and quantity. Would definitely recommending going there to try their food. PS: If you can handle a bit of heat I would suggest you ask them to spicy it up as it was tad bit on the side that favors the palate of non-spicy handlers.

Amazing all vegan buffet. You pay the price of the plate and then pick your own food. I suggest not loading too much on the cold buffet which mainly consists of raw veggies. Hot buffet has loads of different options with roasted potatoes, fried vegetables, curry, stroganoff mushrooms, beans, pasta, rice etc. You cannot taste everything but it all looks great!

Great experience with delicious food, large selection of dishes and friendly service. We sat outside at one of the many tables. It looked cozy inside but was a bit stuffy with closed windows. Expect to wait a bit in line, as everyone plates their own food at their own pace. The first part is the salad bar, the second part contains the warm dishes. It's a nice cozy atmosphere. It was tasty, definitely recommending their deserts. The only thing that really let me down was that we needed to wait over an hour to get our food.... I understand that it was full, but find it way too much for scrambled eggs.

Update 2025: Unfortunately the chef took the excellent Tempura Bento *off the menu*. The only sushi related choice left is fried sushi ... We enquired why on earth they would cancel the best dish - it was was too successful. They were struggling with high demand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Excellent sushi, outstanding cake selection. My personal recommendation: if you like cheese cake, go for the basque cheesecake, it may look burnt but that's exactly how it's supposed to be and it's super creamy with caramel notes.

One of the best vegetarian Vietnamese restaurants abroad that I had been to. I had the bun bo soup bowl, it's actually very close to the vegetarian bun bo bowls that I had back in Vietnam. My Indian friend loved the Vietnamese iced coffee (with condensed milk). We also had the spring rolls and the spicy tuna rolls and enjoyed them very much. The staff was very nice. Overall great experience and I can attest to the quality here as I had been to many vegetarian places (including those in Vietnam, New York and Houston).

This was honestly up there with the best food I’ve ever eaten! When the food arrived to the table I already had a feeling it would be great. But wow this was delicious. Highly recommend eating here, even if you normally don’t eat vegan. The people here were also very friendly

Been here multiple times and never disappointed ! Their Pho noodles has the best vegetarian broth—rich, flavorful, and packed with fresh veggies. Generous portions too! The Fresh Me Up drink with Aloe Vera & lychee. So good, I had two glasses. Refreshing and addictive! Plus, the friendly staff and great atmosphere make it even better. A must-visit, vegan or not!

Visited while on holiday, one of the best restaurants we've ever been too. We went twice because we loved it so much. Great atmosphere, beautifully presented food, delicious and memorable experience. Only downside to be aware of is it was "cash-only", which may or may not be an issue.

Ordered the hot bowl and poke bowl as takeout. Ingredients were very good. But one big big complaint. The sauces were already mixed in and too little. My hot bowl was supposed to be red curry but it seemed it was no curry!!! 😵‍💫 And again, like it seems to be in most places these days, everything on the sweet side. Why are we adding sugar everywhere Guys?? Next time i order I’ll ask for the sauces to be on the side.

We passed this restaurant on route to a Chinese eatery, which happened to be closed. We then returned to Anya and had a wonderful lunch here! We ate our meal seated at one of the few outdoor tables. Delicious! Definitely a better deal than eating near the Dome in one of the overpriced tourist restaurants.

Delicious wraps and plates. There's a reason there's a crowd here everyday for lunch - it's fresh, tasty and incredible value for money. Everything is freshly prepared to order, and there's a range of options for vege/vegan and meat eaters alike. Most people take their food to go, but there are a couple of tables street-side if you want to eat there. Be aware, it can be a bit of a mess ordering at lunch time, if you can come a little bit early or late, you can avoid that. In my opinion it's worth the wait because the falafel is fantastic. I've never been able to finish a "small" dish in one setting because they're German-sized portions. Highly recommend.

A little pricey but worth the random visits whenever I visit Köln (Cologne) for Vegan Activism Events with the organisations: Anonymous for the Voiceless AND/OR Neon Black. Go Vegan and then also get involved with Activism to help wake up other Humans to be vegan amd activist also. As more and more Humans begin living by the Vegan Ethical Principle: that Humans should live without exploiting other animals... THEN the planet will have more amazing establishments like HEMPIES everywhere!! 👍✌️🙏💪😘🥰🌿🌏

Takoyaki and the vegan ramens we tried were amazing. We especially like the white tantan vegan ramen, the curry croquettes give richness to the mixture. Although the tomato was a bit out of place in my opinion to be honest. Serving time could be improved, especially for the appetizer (takoyaki).

Came here for the first time from Belgium, needless to say I had a blast in here. The food was exquisite, I was very full when I finished eating. The staff were super kind to me and the atmosphere was nice to be in, I really liked the posters on the walls. 5 stars, all the way, I would definitely recommend and revisit!

The guy here was so easy to talk to, let us smell his new mandarin coffee beans also. He made us an iced oat milk flat white- a strong and I do kind of which I had gone for a latte but my boyfriend loves the strength of the flat white. Regardless- this was gorgeous. I also loved the soap dispenser- I had only ever seen these on dragons den.

Glad we have found a new fav cafe right here. From flat white (farmer's milk) to matcha latte (oat milk) to chai latte (oat milk) to their pastries (canelé and dark choc cookie) everything was great! Also appreciated that the friendly barista took time to share beans/coffee knowledge with us. Would highly recommend this place. Tip: they have different beans from Columbia so be sure to tell them the flavour profile that you like!

The real definition of coffee roastery served with passion. He mastered everything to create a good espresso, show me how different temperatures will change coffee's notes. Explained the beans journey until served in Cologne. If you're coffee lovers, it's a must to visit this place.

I truly wish ALL coffee shoppes took as much pride and passion for coffee ingredients, brewing and their customers. I could feel instantly upon walking in that this specialty coffee hub was about the people as much as it is about the coffee. I have met so many new friends, business opportunities whilst learning about the history of coffee due to the erudite and impassioned owner Micha. Grateful to be a part of this community that gives back day and night to coffee lovers!

It was yummy! Great place to have some “good tasting” fast food but vegan. Our burgers were great, also the cheesey fries. Staff friendly and food came quick. Also prices are alright, for being a modern vegan place i found it reasonably priced.

The best staff i have ever experienced while working in other place i was feeling dizzy because of too warm outside i just said once they helped me with warm food pommes and drinks without any cost for free. Awful service: it takes just one incompetent employee to ruin it. My wife and I were staying nearby. On a sunny Saturday morning (9 July), we went to the cafe. The very first thing that I said to the seemingly nice lady in the counter was: "Sorry, I don't speak German", and she let us know we could just use English. We ordered two breakfast platters and one coffee with milk. I paid the bill straight away, and then, found two empty sits for us and sat down. The lady who took the order did not say a SINGLE WORD to inform us that there were just 2 empty tables and both were reserved. Had she informed us, we would not have bothered to eat there: the food, after all, turned out to be average, at best. It is only afterward when the persons with the reservation showed up a short while later that the situation got embarrassing for us. The lady requested us to LEAVE our sits, we complied instantaneously. I requested the lady to kindly speed up and give us our food as take-aways, and from her gesture it seemed like she understood. We thought as she could not give us a sitting space and FAILED to clearly inform at the time of ordering that there were no empty tables, she would show some consideration and give us the food qyickly in packets, so that we would not have to stand there longer looking like idiots. However, she was not sensitive enough to understand the situation and the young lad who was cooking looked like he had all day (and from the way he was cracking eggs, it looked like his very first was a summer job ever). As the lady did not bother to inform the cook that she messed up, and there was no table in the cafe for us, and hence, the food would need to be packed; the cook carried on plating our foods. All this made us wait even longer and the gross imcompetence of that lady did not stop at just embarrassing customers: she did not give the milk with the coffee, neither she instructed me where to fetch the milk from; although my order was "coffee with milk" NOT just filter coffee (which costs less than "coffee with milk" by the way). Then, she messed up the eggs while packing those as the cook did not put the food in packets, rather put the food on plates. Now, two simple questions need asking: 1. where in your website does it say that one needs a reservation for a Saturday breakfast in a cafe like yours; and 2. are the emplyees generally this incompetent, or is it that they are selectively incompetent in their conduct toward non-German-speaking, brown individuals? Shameful!!!

The staff were extremely friendly, spoke English very well, and had English menus available. Both my girlfriend and I are vegan. Many of the items are already vegan, and most can be made vegan. We ordered a small feast - 2 beers, a savory pastry whose name escapes me, fried spring rolls, fries with cheese and a sweet chili sauce, pumpkin lasagna, chocolate mousse, and a gyro wrap to-go. The pastry and the lasagna were specials, but the rest was from the regular menu. Everything was delicious, and we especially recommend the chili-cheese fries and the chocolate mousse. I believe that the food would be appealing to non-vegan/vegetarians as well. We felt that the portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. We are already talking about returning here for dinner tomorrow night!

This was a very interesting surprise. It is similar to an Irish Pub, but in a very alternative atmosphere. The walls are covered in stickers defending freedom, equality, against racism, etc. We didn't order any food, just went for some beers but their menu is mostly vegan, who knew! Going for dinner next time.

Ecco offers no-nonsense food: just delicious and lots of food. On the menu vegan dishes are clearly indicated, and the staff is very aware of both vegan and gluten-free diet. They are very helpful in selecting and/or adapting food to meet your diet. The food was delicious and the service great. We had a grilled mushroom and tofu salad and sweet potatoes on the side.

I went for the brunch and I got the chance to try the „speed brunch“ which means that you pay 10,99€ and you have an hour to eat as much as you want. Such a nice idea! The food was not bad and they had gluten free options, veggi and vegan as well. The drinks were quite expensive tho ( there here the trick 😛)

Went there with my girlfriend to have brunch on a Saturday. Food was really good with lots of vegan/vegetarian options and dishes you wouldnt usually get at most breakfast buffets. Unfortunately, there were only 1.5 waiters for the entire bar which was definitely not enough. Wouldve been 5/5 stars. I'd still recommend Ecco - just dont be in a hurry.

Atmosphere feels a little more like a school lunchroom rather than a cafe and service was a 6/10 with regards to showing care, interest or joy in the job. We ordered potatoes that were just that - not a tremendous amount of effort is noticeable. Overall average place with vegan options if desperate.

The interior is exceptionally comfortable: perfectly proportioned chairs, just the right height to relax, soft cushions, stable tables with an ideal size-to-dish ratio. The textures of the surfaces feel nice to the touch. Lighting is spot on, soft natural light from wide windows, creative handmade bulbs, and a charming little chandelier. It's not a large space, but the layout is smart. Tables are well arranged, never feeling cramped. I especially loved the tempura, fresh vegetables with a crispy, flavorful coating, and a special dipping sauce that balances savory and sweet beautifully. The Udon noodles have an excellent chewy texture. The broth isn't as rich as I expected, but its lightness works really well for warm weather. We tried the miso Udon and the golden tan tan. The latter has a strong ginger note; personally, I’d love a touch more sesame flavor. An unexpected highlight: the red bean bun. I thought it might be like a German Mörbschen, but it turned out to be thicker and more yeasty, with a softer surface, really satisfying. The food presentation is clean and minimal, served on small trays with beautiful bowls. I'd love to know where to buy some of them :) You can tell the owner is creative and passionate. The menu design is adorable, full of clear info and even a detailed explanation of how Udon is made. So generous to share that process with guests. The location is literally a hidden gem, tucked further into a quiet street. It’s peaceful, easy to miss, and absolutely worth finding. Highly recommended!

vegan udon cravings in cologne? this is your place. i had the red tantan udon. not as spicy as i'd like and the soy chunks were a bit dry. the trick is to soak the chunks in the broth for a while for them to soak up the flavour of the broth. the broth itself is quite flavorful, with hints of ginger and creamy soy milk. i also had a hot tea and a mochi for dessert, coming down to less than 25€. i went alone on a sunday around 6pm and it was quite full. there were a few tables already reserved, so highly advisable to make reservations if dining with a larger group. but dining solo should be fine if. you don't mind sitting on the counter by the window.

They do Udon and Tempura, and they do both excellently! I've always preferred restaurants that have limited menus, because then you know they do those things well. The service is excellent too. They're a small place, and sometimes there's a line when it's busy, but it's worth the wait and the staff is fair and kind. The atmosphere is lovely too, the decoration is tasteful and deliberate. They also have a clear political stance, being vegan, LGBTQ+ friendly and anti-fascist. It's rare to see a restaurant take a stance, and I think that's great. More places should speak up for what's right.

My bf ordered the largest menu, its amount turned out even a bit smaller than my smallest menu… it’s totally not worth it. The food itself was well-prepared, and the powder for Udon is also pretty nice.

The expectation was big, we were looking for a true vegan cuisine. Pizzas! They came almost one hour after we ordered. They were cold as the Arctic. The dinner lasted less than 10% of the time we waited for the food to come. When a pizza get cold, just eat it fast! We tried but the coldness was predominant enough to restrict our time eating. Just get it down and through.

This is without a doubt the best vegan restaurant I have been to! We couldn’t help ourselves from ordering two appetizers, pizzas and two desserts. I especially loved the Himmel + Äd pizza and skillet cookie, but you can’t go wrong! They also have gluten free, soy free and nut free options. Everything, including the cheese and sauces, is made in house. We ate so much food but it didn’t leave us feeling heavy and tired. It was delicious and I’m looking forward to trying the other menu items soon ☺️

What a shocking and totally unexpected experience! I was treated in a violent manner by a night staff member when I came in to purchase a salad from the self service counter. It all started when I took a photo of the salad counter so that I could send it to my friend, making it easier for us to pick exactly what he wanted. The night shift manager got physicial with me and called me with names, questioning my sexuality. I eneded up calling police that attended the store and assisted me in a professional manner. People working at this store are homophobic, agressive and utterly unprofessional. I'm in disbelief that in the city of Cologne in 2023 there is still a place for hompophobic and agressive attacks, especially at a well known supermarket chain such as Rewe.

Great Indonesian/Asian Bistro with a variety of fairly priced, very delicious items. As of now they have a weekly vegetarian based menu (however you can add meat) in which they use fresh vegetables and the diversity and options are extremely nice. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodate special dietary wishes. It was possible to get 6 items of the menu as a vegan option which was wonderful. The location is easy to find in a beautiful area. Because of the corona situation the venue is too be experienced later. Definitely I will stop by when it's open or order again soon. (The order via Facebook was very easy). The packaging was great as it was recycled paper mostly.

Very tasty food, will definitely try some other dishes soon. At the moment they offer only take away. As they work with ‘vytal’ you can get reusable food containers which you can return to any partner within 14 days, free of charge and by using the app. This was why I got food here and I was not disappointed!

Very tasty food, very cool menu concept (every week new menu, 6 dishes, all vegan, all the same price, meat available as an extra) and very friendly service. Extra attention to sustainability: everything is either reusable (Vytal) or made out of paper or wood. I got a takeaway meal for 6 people without any plastic waste. Unfortunately they only take "EC"/girocard, not even maestro or other debit cards :( Would definitely go again!

Best ever indonesian food in Germany. I like the vegan base with option to add meet. Perfect concept, awesome service, really nice people.
