Breakfast restaurant
Tibits is a popular vegetarian restaurant chain in Switzerland known for its fabulous buffet featuring a wide variety of freshly-prepared dishes. The restaurant offers excellent choices for breakfast, lunch, and dessert, including Swiss salad with broccoli cubes and sauce, Buffalo Cauliflower Salad, Margherita pizza, Gazpacho soup, pasta, muesli, pancakes, Coconut Fried Rice and cranberry chai iced tea.
Excellent place for relaxing with gorgeous food after a long day hikking from Engelberg. Swim in the lake in the Peace with NATURE melody after all tourists are gone is a bonus😊 Sauna available upon request made our stay even more enjoyable🫠

Nice place! I love Tibits at most locations. The sandwich was tasty, drinks were refreshing, and the buffet had great options. A fantastic vegetarian spot with a lovely outdoor terrace!
Anisha J — Google review
One of my favorite restaurants in Berne! Delicious food and the buffet style food makes it very suitable for getting a quick bite. I love the interior and the staff is very friendly. There is always a great variety of food options and everything is vegan.

Nice family brunch. For 49 you get whatever you want + 1 cold and 1 hot drink. Not a big choice for picky eater kids, but still managed to find something.
Olha F — Google review
One of the two branches of vegetarian franchise restaurant Tibits in Switzerland's capital city. If you're vegetarian and craving a meal, look no further than here (or its nearby sister restaurant) to satisfy your appetite. But it's also a great spot if you're a meat lover and just up for a centrally located drink or dessert while in the city. Please note that there's no table service and that things can be slightly pricey, including some expectations (for better or worse) to round up your tip when ordering / paying at the counter. Also, be sure to be considerate of others, especially when using your laptop, as the place can get crowded quickly (the staff may also kindly remind you ;-). Otherwise, it's a fancy and conveniently located establishment that offers good-quality dishes and drinks.
Christian T — Google review
The restaurant is great to enjoy a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian buffets. The selection changes every day and you can enjoy a variety of cuisine there. I take a little bit of almost everything and weigh the plate to pay. The prices are in line with the Swiss standard. Also, you get a free bread / buns to the buffet 😃
Debasrita M — Google review
Being a vegetarian since the 70's, this place is a total enjoyment. I love this restaurant since the first time I stepped into it. The price is very good in relation to the quality. My best girlfriend and I come everytime we have the opportunity. We love the buffet modality because we can chose whatever we like in the perfect amount for us. With the pandemic we had to make a pause, it's been a loooooong wait, but now we are coming again keeping all the security messures. The different areas gives you the option of choosing also where to sit, whether it is in the main floor, upstairs, or outside. They keep growing and offering more services all the time. Forty years ago, a place like this was my dream, today is real. I just love 💘 it!!!
Fiore D — Google review
My wife loves the food here. Choose froM a variety of vegetarian dishes: cheese, falafel, potatoes, gebratener Rosenkohl or spinach. Enjoyed the dessert buffet. Location just next to the central station. On two floors. Service above average i.e. super friendly and effective.

Noumi Grill & Bar is a unique and stunning restaurant that offers a fusion of two different cuisines presented flawlessly. The atmosphere is beautiful, with an open kitchen adding to the immaculate dining experience. It's recommended to try the multi-course dinner and drink flight, as both are prepared at the highest level of excellence, showcasing the chef's passion for cooking.
Tried the set menu, with wine suggestions from the waitress which were spot on. The location is really nice, great atmosphere and the music was nice, matching the vibe of the place and not too loud.
Julien D — Google review
We were having dinner celebrating the bride to be with a big group of 13 people. The atmosphere on the terrasse during a warm summer evening is magical! You can look down on the Aare river and see the Swiss alps painted red from the sunset. We had the set menu, with each course being delicious. The food combined traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern take on and interesting combinations. The service was very attentive and curated a beautiful evening! On top of that, they even celebrated the bride to be in their very special way with bubbles, polaroid pictures and a special dessert. Definitely recommended and will go back to celebrate other special moments in life!

The Noumi restaurant in Bern was absolutely incredible! Every dish was bursting with flavor — truly an explosion of tastes that delighted my palate. The quality of the ingredients and the creativity in the preparation made for an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy exceptional cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere!

I was passing by Bern and came across the restaurant and saw the great reviews so decided to have lunch there. The catch was I arrived around 30 minutes before they close! The restaurant manager and chef were so sweet and accommodated me as I already knew what I wanted from the menu, steak! They did not disappoint and met up to the reviews I read, everything i had was delicious and the music and atmosphere was great. The mojito was perfectly done, and the sizzling steak was exquisite. Thank you to the amazing team working there for a delightful lunch on my trip 💙

Excellent food and service. The menu is a nice and well-flowing feast of meals. Quality is very high. The view on the kitchen from the counter is nice. Also very nice coktails!

I visited the newly opened summer terrace at Noumi Restaurant in Bern yesterday – and it was an absolute highlight! The atmosphere on the terrace is relaxed yet stylish – perfect for warm summer evenings. The service was attentive, friendly, and professional – you feel welcome from the very first moment. And the food? Simply outstanding! Every course was not only a delight in terms of flavor but also beautifully presented. You can really tell that great care and attention to detail go into every dish. For me, definitely one of the best summer dining experiences in Bern. I’ll definitely be back!
Matthew A — Google review
A good looking restaurant inside an amazing hotel. The employees are nice but a little forced to be like that, don't sound natural. Food is great but the relationship between the price is very high. You will find better near by. Maybe I will give another chance.

Here’s a polished version you could use as your review for Nuomi: --- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10/10) Nuomi is a gem – fresh, Asian-chic cuisine with portions perfectly sized for trying multiple dishes and sharing with friends. Every plate is delicious, and the cocktails are a highlight on their own, with creative mixology and even a bit of showmanship. Service is attentive and genuinely friendly, making the whole experience highly recommended!

Restaurant
Restaurant Terrasse Schwellenmätteli is a delightful culinary gem perched along the banks of the Aare River in Bern. This charming eatery invites you to indulge in a variety of hot and cold beverages, alongside an enticing selection of fish and Mediterranean dishes. The enchanting atmosphere, reminiscent of a whimsical forest with its wooden decor and hanging vines, sets the stage for memorable dining experiences—whether you're enjoying an intimate dinner or gathering with friends.
Had an amazing in this scenic restaurant on the river! The outside terrace is just beautiful and refreshing to watch river flowing whilst having a nice meal. Food was amazing and i could tell that it was made from fresh ingredients. Thank you for making my day 🩵
Bagel O — Google review
We just for coffees and enjoyed the vibes. Not crowded at all but enough people to feel the good atmosphere. Loud because of the river but it allows for conversation. Recommended!
Gio L — Google review
We went there for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. I had the lunch set. First, there came a vegetable soup, which was like a vegetable soup is. It was followed by a small fresh salad, which contained different kind of salad leaves and a French dressing. Then came the main dish: Suckling pig with a jus, Risotto and cucumber vegetable. This was an explosion of tastes. The suckling pig had a nice crust, which gave the dish its roasted aroma. The meat contained also fat, which contributed to the great taste. And the jus was a masterpiece! As dessert, I had an Affogato - espresso with vanilla ice. The service was friendly and was flexible when I arrived a little late. Then there's the incredible view. We really enjoyed our visit to the Schwellenmätteli Bern.
Dani A — Google review
The location and atmosphere is amazing. The food is hit or miss. Very much overpriced for rather small portions. Moules Frites were great. Cordon bleu was good too. Lamb was very fatty and not up to the expected quality standards for the high price of it (and it is not even swiss lamb). The rice that came with it was bland and boring and way too much of it. I kind of don't know what they tried to do there. A risotto would have been much better. But this was bland rice with some tomato paste. Waiters were all very busy and basically did not pay us any attention unless we waved at them.

I visited Restaurant Terrasse Schwellenmätteli for coffee, and the experience was truly memorable, largely due to its stunning location right above the Aare River. The terrace offers breathtaking views of Bern’s Old Town, with the Parliament Building and Minster in sight—perfect for a special evening out. The ambiance is unique, with the modern pavilion design and the sound of rushing water creating a serene yet vibrant atmosphere. It felt like dining on an island! Service was generally attentive and friendly—our server was kind and accommodating with dietary requests. Overall, Schwellenmätteli’s terrace is a must-visit for anyone in Bern looking for great food paired with an unforgettable view. Just book ahead, especially for the terrace, and come ready to soak in the scenery.
Subrata P — Google review
The burger was just not worth the price. CHF 33 for a dry bun, pickled vegetables and a little bit of sauce on the meat. Fries tasted with an old oil. You'd get a better burger and fries in McDonald's even though McDonald's should not be set as a standard here.
Bart T — Google review
The food is simply ordinary. As good (or as bad) as what you get from the frozen section of Aldi. However, the price is as if it were from a real chef. The service is ok, it is hard to feel welcome in this restaurant. Paid €48.70 for the almost empty plate you see in the photo. The atmosphere, if you ignore the service, is nice thanks to the river, that is absolutely beautiful.

the main attraction is the location over the river! spectacular view around the water easy to access a very specific point from the city there is food and drinks worth visit finishing a tour by the river

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant Steinhalle, led by top chef Markus Arnold, is located near the Museum of History in Bern. With 17 Gault-Millau points and a Michelin star, Arnold is a rising star in the Bernese culinary scene. The restaurant offers a lunch menu featuring ramen soups, bowls, and burgers, while in the evening it provides seasonal casual dining menus. The atmosphere is described as familiar and the food as creatively prepared with maximum creativity.
Fine-diner by night, casual al fresco café by day – this restaurant in the grounds of Bern’s History Museum has something for everyone. So far I’ve only visited for a drink in the café – but the setting, quality and service inspires me to come back for more next time. Chef Markus Arnold is regarded as one of Switzerland’s most innovative chefs and his dinner menu warrants a Michelin star (with prices to match). But during the day you can rock up, grab a seat in the garden and enjoy refreshments like house-made iced matcha tea, ramen, rice bowls and salads all made with the same quality produce and attention to detail at a fraction of the price.
Roberta M — Google review
We visited the history museum in Bern and started to get hungry so we popped next door for lunch. This restaurant is quite nice and the service is great. They are helpful and attentive. The lunch menu has classic favourites of modern society. I ordered the burger with a salad and my husband got the ramen. The salad was wow! I haven’t had a salad that good in a long time! I thoroughly enjoyed it. When the burger came I was also pleasantly surprised. Meat was cooked perfectly to medium as asked. The burger was juicy and easy to cut in half. A little squeeze bottle of sauce was also provided so you could add more sauce to the burger. I am unable to comment on the ramen as I did not eat it. The only thing that would be helpful is to have a little allergen icon. My husband has a peanut allergy and when the salad came it seemed to have peanuts on it, he didn’t have any but I also try to avoid peanuts to be extra cautious. At lunch time, it seems like you can walk in without a reservation. However, I am unsure about dinner as I understand it becomes a fine dining restaurant. I would make a reservation if going to dinner just to be safe. A great spot and highly recommend!
Kathryn M — Google review
We visited the museum in Bern and saw this restaurant on our way out. We sat in the nice seating area outside with a view of the grassy area - it was great weather so it was overall a great vibe. We ordered the ramen and the salad. The salad was really good and it came with sourdough as well. The ramen was very salty but otherwise good ramen texture - however beware as they ask if you want kimchi as well which we found out afterwards it was an extra 5CHF (it’s actually stated on the menu but there wasn’t an english version provided so we were confused haha)
Vivian C — Google review
I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Steinhalle in the beautiful historic museum of Bern. We had the full gastronomic dinner and I could only stay until main course due to early train back home. That being said, most items were really delicious and above what gastronomic experience you would expect wandering on this side of the Sarine river. 😆
Eric D — Google review
We visited from the USA and enjoyed the veggie-forward menu currently in rotation. The food was quite tasty and the sauces with the dishes were the stars of the show. The sauces were so tasty I’ve questioned whether or not I deserved something so delicious. The presentation of the dishes was lovely and a lot of care went into them. I think the serving sizes were maybe 20% too small. The small size, even for an upscale restaurant, paired with the somewhat unengaging atmosphere made me rate this 4 stars instead of 5. For context, one course was 3 partial asparagus. Definitely worth a visit and piqued my interested in trying other up scale restaurants in the city
Branden B — Google review
High end restaurant with excellent periodically changing multi-course menu, that will be adjusted to your specific dietary needs. Very attentive and friendly service. Great seating under shady trees, with restaurant integrated into beautiful historic building. Pricey as you would expect from this type of restaurant. We found the service to be a bit pushy for additional menu options as well as drinks, you just have to say no multiple times.
Beat S — Google review
One sentence review: Tasty, but (supposedly) elitist. Longer review of the prepaid Japanese tasting menu. We were greeted by a polite server and shown to a table outside where we had an appetiser and a drink (paid for separately). We weren't offered a napkin even though all appetisers were creamy or had liquids in them. Afterwards we proceeded inside for the main meal. The space inside is pretty tight, the decor minimal and the lighting is pretty dim, but it still doesn't feel particularly cosy (or chic). Now the food. The great thing about it is that there aren't any *dishes* on the menu. According to the chef (who greeted everyone in person) all the items are inspired by traditional Japanese tastes and ingredients and are invented by the chef himself, so you can't just find them in a Japanese cook book. Now the size of each portion is really really small. Half the elements of every dish are a (tea-) spoonful big. If you came to the restaurant... hungry, you'll likely only be less hungry after a five-course meal. Another deal-breaker for me is the price. This place is titanically overpriced. The amount we paid (meal = 159, sparkling wine = 21, red wine = 29) could buy you two (or almost two) similar dinners anywhere in the city. Yes, the restaurant was full, and there are enough people who don't care about prices in Bern, but a family with regular jobs would struggle to afford dining in a place like this and therefore they'd miss out on trying out a new experimental cuisine. Mind you that we spent three hours in Steinhalle and we only saw one person of colour in the whole establishment, and that was one of the waiters. That to me is a good indicator of how elitist a place might be. The service. There's no one designated waiter that'll serve you your food throughout the evening and that's probably a good thing -- less waiting. Every waiter knows how to present each dish, but the way they say it sounds like a recital. They just say their text and leave promptly. Every time they clear the table the servers ask how you've liked the previous dish, but it does come off slightly superficial, like they're programmed to ask certain things at certain times. That is the least of my concerns though, I'd much rather know why you didn't foresee a hot towel at a Japanese style dinner or quiet Japanese music in the background or, quite frankly, better value for money. Yeah, it's a business and it's legal, but how cool is it?
Marcel M — Google review
In addition to being a well-known and expensive place to have a multiple-course dinner, the Steinhalle is a low-key, lovely, and delicious spot for an inexpensive lunch. Sitting outside under the enormous trees in the park in front of Bern's History Museum, I had an excellent bowl of vegetarian ramen soup. I recommend the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The menu has only a few choices, but all are vegetarian or meat.

Nestled in the heart of Bern, "Einstein – café & bel étage" beautifully embodies the essence of European coffee house culture. This charming establishment spans two floors, offering a delightful ambiance perfect for unwinding with friends or family. Located on Kramgasse, it boasts a rich historical backdrop that enhances its appeal to both locals and visitors alike.

Chill atmosphere, great place to relax and unwind before exploring Bern and the old town. Cakes were average, coffee were the better ones I had in Switzerland. Initially staff wasn't very friendly and helpful as we obviously looked like tourists (Asians) and were looking for seats. Thankfully another staff was very friendly and make sure we had our orders taken and checks in with us. I would say the service quality is not very consistent across all the waiters, definitely need more training if they brand themselves as related to Einstein and a tourist place to visit.

Was a nice leisurely place to start a holiday weekend breakfast. Food was good, but wish it had more options! Ambience and service was great

Unfortunately my experience was not good in this place. Unfriendly service and rude answers from the waitress made me frustrated. I am in Switzerland since 2 weeks and I never felt this in any place. I was thinking to order a cake too but I didn't want to spend more time here and the cold coffee that I drank was only ok. 14/08/25 (time- 11:50)

The spacious terrace provides a stunning backdrop for leisurely meals while soaking in breathtaking views. Diners rave about dishes like Spaghetti Aglio Olio paired with homemade chili oil, highlighting both flavor and freshness.
Food was delicious. We really liked the Spaghetti Aglio Olio especially after we were given the homemade chilli oil. The staff served us really well and they were very respectful and kind. Really good food. It's a step up but it's not otherworldly. Service was standard. Everything was well presented. Unfortunately, a business dinner so no food pictures. Was with five other people everyone enjoyed the food. For one, the portion wasn't enough.
David B — Google review
Not a bad location but it needs more. Would have expected the pasta to be warm, the service more than in a "Bahnhof Buffet" and the ice creams should contain the fruits we ordered. Perhaps we should have turned around when the restaurant had no parking and was not helpful in providing direction to public parking... I think that says all.

FREIBANK Speis & Trank, located in the Wankdorf neighborhood, has a focus on sustainability and using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant's concept is inspired by the history of its building as a former slaughterhouse, where high-quality but less popular cuts of meat were sold at a designated counter called the Freibank. Today, this principle is reflected in their menu featuring treats like organic roast beef and homemade organic Laberli.
Freibank Speis & Trank offers high quality food to reasonable prices. I recommend to reserve ahead, since it takes a while to get there, and you want to be sure to get a table. I am sure foreign traveller's feel at home - the last time I was there, there were English-Speakers at the table next to us. The Menu is meat-centric, but you also can have attractive vegetarian meals. For lunch, there is a slightly reduced menu, but you will get something you like. As entree, I had an aspargus soup. As main dish, I had sausages with a honey-chili sauce, bread-dumplings and vegetable. My dessert was a browney. Everything tasted really great. The portions were fair, you won't leave hungry. My friend had liver, which he also recommended. They have a nice choice of beer and wine to fair prices. The waiters are really friendly. I can only recommend Freibank Speis & Trank! Cheers, Dani A.

A very particular place, with a nice atmosphere, in an industrial campus like surrounding. A nice outside setting with fire and some girl options. The menu is small, but has excellent dishes. Nice selection of local beers. 🍻 Worthwhile a visit, when you are in the Wankdorf area.
Chris_D ( — Google review
We so truly enjoyed our dinner here. We tried the beef goulash and the bbq. Also found some very unique local drinks on the menu and finished off with a nice chocolate brownie. Thanks for the amazing service
Dominique F — Google review
Nice location with good food, you have to reserve.

A very nice restaurant. I enjoyed the vegetarian menu. The apfelschorle was also nice (homemade?). The approach, to serve Water from the crane (WfW) instead of carriyng it arround Switzerland is another nice idea. Great place. Thank you to the friendly team. Sitting outside was also a very enjoyable thing.
Jan W — Google review
We ate Raclette outside over the fire. Great experience, out of the ordinary and a great place for groups. Food was good but not outstanding. Service was polite and helpful
Erik N — Google review
Nice location near Bern Wankdorf train station. Staff is quite friendly and chatty. Do not expect to find the regular big red drink, they serve a local coke but it is okay. Food is good, they serve some Japanese fusion. My recommendation is the salade with the Japanese style eggs.
Okan B — Google review
Wow, the beer is cold and good. Really good. Service is awesome, and if you want some amazing beef stew with your beer...they have a damn good one.

If you're on the hunt for a quick and healthy meal, look no further than dean&david! Nestled in the heart of Bern, this vibrant eatery offers a delightful array of dishes made from fresh, regional ingredients. Whether you’re craving nourishing bowls, crisp salads, flavorful curries, or tasty snacks like sandwiches and wraps, there’s something to satisfy every palate. The menu also features planet-friendly options that are predominantly vegan—think delicious falafel and innovative plant-based alternatives.
Delicious food and great variety of healthy options. The homemade Yuzu/Lemon tea was just the perfect match for such a lovely meal. The two guys at the counter were just so friendly and fabulous that I can’t wait to be back in Bern to come and say hello again ! Thank you !!!
Jorge S — Google review
I had food poisoning from this place, I would not recommend to go there. I used to be often at Dean & David in other cities and really liked their concept and healthy food. When I went to this store in Bern I ordered a bowl and after a view hours I became sick and had food poisoning. It could also not have been anything else that I ate that day. I wanted to sort it out with them directly and not via a bad Google review. I reached out to them 2 times which is months ago and never received a reply. At least an apology would have been nice. Very very bad service! I will never go there again.
Meike A — Google review
Ordered two bowls which include Quinoa as per the description. Both of the bowls came with white rice only and no quinoa. If you charge CHF 60 for two bowls, AT LEAST get the order right.
Robin M — Google review
Absolutely crazy over priced. Ordered flatbread and they then give you this skinny little thing, and not even the full one… you get half for nearly 11 CHf.
Jubiek — Google review
Just came for a visit the other day to realize that my beloved Dean and David is not the same here in Bern as it is in Hanau. No coffee,no soup,no fresh juices.....we are having winter time, are you going to serve these dishes again when the temperatures have risen? I am quite disappointed and could understand if D&D have to pack it in soon, sorry but friendly service can not make up for a bad menu.
Sigrun H — Google review
There were flies all around, and the atmosphere felt chaotic. Despite that, the food was good.
Evan M — Google review
The food is absolutely not fresh but expensive.
Lilounette P — Google review
Food is quite good, especially the bowls. Coffee is quite good also. Staff friendly and the atmosphere is nice.

“Great spot with a nice vibe. Perfect balance of high-quality food and relaxed atmosphere.”

I'm a random walk in originally looking for some Techno music and a few shots of scotch. I got "Science Slam Bern". The scotch was limited as I'm not a Laohroaig fan and settled on a large Writer's Tears. However the staff were so accommodating I got a nice sample of some Swiss Ginger liquor which I'm leaving after the scotch. The place was PACKED..! German then English 10 min slot presentations on Physics including Matter (Quarks) to a Violin solo, then fusion and the audience captivated and full of applause..! The winner of the trophy of a Pig with a medal was Quarks..! I was expecting techno and got more than I bargained for as I am a total Geek..!

(Translated by Google) A beautiful restaurant, great location right next to the train station, great drinks! The parties and concerts are legendary, for younger and older guests. The game events (pub quiz, Tichu, Uno and many more) offer great variety - even during the week. The staff is always friendly and you immediately feel at home. And thanks to the delicious food, I'm also a regular lunchtime guest. Keep it up! I recommend everyone to visit the signal box. The picture is from the Halloween pub quiz on October 31st. Kaffee Montag is a charming café that embodies the essence of local flavors and seasonal ingredients, making it an ideal spot for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike. Nestled in the heart of Bern, this cozy establishment invites you to unwind with friends over expertly crafted coffees and delectable treats like their renowned cheesecake. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a light lunch or simply soaking in the ambiance.
Perfect place for a delicious light lunch in welcoming surroundings. Attentive and friendly service, delightful daily menu of soup, sandwich and salad for only 18chf. Today’s offering was a subtly flavoured chickpea, pea and mint soup, accompanied by a beautifully dressed seedy salad and fennel smoked sausage on fresh and perfectly crusty bread. All presented in a charming and rustic old town cellar with tasteful decor. Go here for a lovely light lunch in Bern!!! Not to be missed.

A cozy little cafe on a street that will make you pour your heart out. Amazing cheesecake and definitely try their chai latte and coffee. The food is great but the location is even better. It is located on an iconic street in Bern very close to Einsteinhaus and is a place worth going for on a sunny day. The prices are pocket friendly too.

it's a nice cozy coffee place in the old part of Bern. They also offer different lunch menus that are really good and affordable. Also just as a fun fact: when you go to the toilet the floor is made out of glass and you can see the old sewerage of Bern which is kinda neat.
Rebecca S — Google review
Very neat place in the heart of old town in bern! Love to go there, sit by the window and look outside. They have a box with some games so it never gets boring. Food&drinks are perfect, a salad with a tea is my favorite. Service is amazing, very friendly and always time for a little chat.
Muripat — Google review
Lovely place, very "gemütlich", perfect to work (plugs available, Wi-Fi, but not in the backroom). The Montags menu is simple, but very good, they serve quality products and the service is very friendly. They usually have several different salads, ask for what they have. Unfortunately no ventilator. Also, toilets are worth a visit.
Catherine G — Google review
It's just a great place! Cozy, Comfy and with nice staff! Sadly they yet only accept cash but the next ATM is within a 2min Walk. PS. Unique and stunning toilet^^
