Bar
La Cocina Negra is a popular spot in Aix with an underground, hardcore club vibe. The decor features dark luchador wrestling themes mixed with neon and LED visuals, creating a Hollywood movie-like atmosphere. It's advisable to dress appropriately and consider making reservations to avoid long waits. The place gets crowded, but the people are friendly and the electronic music sets the mood for a great time.
We were in the restaurant Le Mezcaleros which is above the bar Cocina negra. We found here very nice food, very good wine and great dessert with coffee for really nice price. And special thanks for plesant staff :-)
Veronika S — Google review
Very desalinating, not welcoming for foreigners. No, one is taking your order even though the club is empty. Trust me, not the place to be.
Harold P — Google review
We went there as a couple on a Saturday evening around 11pm. We did not have to wait in line. The bouncer was asking if we had a reservation - we didn't, but he would let us in. You shouldn't be dressed to casual when you show up. It was very crowded, it was hard to find a little place not to be in the way of anybody. Nice people, great electronic music, good drinks, extraordinary and well decorated place. Always worth a visit if you like to party the Aixoise way.
Marcel M — Google review
When you travel, you always dream of going to the underground local hard-core club that somehow seems out of a Hollywood movie. Cocina Negra has an environment surrounded by dark luchador wrestling deco merged with neon and LED visual fireworks. Remember to tip your bartender and most importantly, the people at the entrance ;)
Tuwano A — Google review
We came here one time and they were really nice with us. The place was fun and well decorated and we had a great time even though it was a little expensive and they offered nothing to eat. Today we came back with some of our family members and they would not let us in. They said that we were not regular customers so we could not come in. I think the real reason is that our family members were too old for the security staff taste. I do not think that we will ever come back again after this bad experience. I am sorry to say that they have lost two potential regular customers.
Ana A — Google review
Illegal entrance policy: unless you are sponsored or you know the bouncer or you are a lady, you can't enter. Refusing people for their sexual identity is illegal as far as I know.
Antonio M — Google review
Showed up at recommendation of our air bnb host on a Friday night, was told “members only” (in English). Not sure why he assumed I didn’t speak French. Based on this and previous reviews, seems as though this place picks and chooses who they let in (seemingly just based on speaking/appearing French).
John T — Google review
Great atmosphere, music, cocktails and clientele! The decor of the underground vault style of the club is impressive, worth a visit 💫

A Tapas restaurant Au Goût du Monde, located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, specialises in sharing plates of appetizers from all over the world to go with their cocktails and wine.
Super cozy little restaurant offering foods from around the world in tapas style... great rhum list & cocktails... highly recommended
Siba G — Google review
Mostly fried food, especially in the menu for two. Most of the tapas à la carte have the same price regardless of what they are, which makes some overpriced. We had cocktails and they were ok but not great. Not the go-to place for cocktails. Very friendly service.
Sandro B — Google review
Pretty nice place. I like the ambiance. The prices are a little steep for tapas, but the food was delicious (had a sandwich, sweet potato fries, and onion rings - which were really great).
Josh M — Google review
We ordered falafel, samosas, broccoli croquettes, sweet potato fries and salad verte. Most food items were deep fried but not greasy - samosas and sweet potato fries tasted ok but falafel and broccoli croquettes pieces were too large and tasted very doughy in the centre. Salad was nice but contained one foul leaf. House wine was ok but we were overcharged which we had to correct on the bill. Overall ambience inside is ok but the road is noisy at the front. I don’t think we will go back to the place.
Priyanka K — Google review
The food is ok, a lot of things are fried. Service was friendly. Price: 15-25€
Leonardo K — Google review
Worst restaurant I've ever been to. If I could give negative stars, I would. Everything is fried, I had the impression I was eating frozen food. The guacamole was orange. They served us a bowl of canned tunafish that was leaking white juice. It was awful. Then the check came and it was 35 euros a person! (with drinks) My wife and I paid 70 euro for the worst restaurant meal we've ever had. We should have gone some place good.
O'Neill C — Google review
We ate there tonight and would I’m afraid to say agree that it is absolutely terrible. It’s definitely not tapas to start. It is a selection of fried balls including: 5 euros for 4 tiny slices of sweet potato covered in fried goo, some heavy falafels, fried courgette goo, freezer onion rings and lots of poor bread. 19euros/ per head for that selection. Tapas should be fresh flavourful ingredients cooked with passion and simplicity. This is anything but. Nothing fresh or flavourful. The worst option must be the cheese toastie! Literally cheap sliced bread with some cheese on it served on a bed of lettuce. As tapas?! We ate it purely because we were hungry and spending so much didn’t want to go out and pay for another meal. It’s a lovely bar setting but the owners have no idea how to do tapas let alone decent food. It’s as if two friends are chucking stuff in the oven from the freezer and playing at being chefs. It will be memorable for me because it was comically bad. I would actually recommend you go for the experience so you know how poor over priced food can be.
Zac S — Google review
Tapas we ate were mostly fried & were not fresh nor flavourful. Worst moment of the meal: when the trash bin truck passed just next to us while eating.

Nestled on the iconic Cours Mirabeau, Faubourg 46 is a true gem in Aix-en-Provence that beckons cocktail enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. This stylish bar boasts an elegant atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed evening or a leisurely afternoon of tasting exquisite drinks. The picturesque surroundings, adorned with charming fountains and lined with majestic plane trees, enhance the experience.
Great food. Did the lunch special menu. Really friendly service. Great vibe - loved the decor and the music.
Heidi C — Google review
A bit pricey but... My dining experience was an absolute delight, deserving of a full five stars! Every dish presented was not only visually appealing but also a true culinary masterpiece. The salad with crispy fried chicken was a revelation. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender on the inside with a golden, crunchy exterior, beautifully complemented by the fresh greens, generous shavings of Parmesan, and a wonderfully creamy dressing. It was a hearty yet refined dish. The hot dog-liked chicken, was another standout. Nestled on a bed of what appeared to be a rich, herbed sauce and served with perfectly golden, crispy fries, it offered a satisfying and flavorful experience. For those who appreciate fresh ingredients, the burrata and tomato salad was simply divine. The creamy burrata, paired with what looked like heritage tomatoes, pine nuts, and a vibrant green pesto, was a testament to simplicity done right. The grissini added a lovely textural contrast. The savory tart or gratin, served with fresh mozzarella and a crisp salad, was a comforting and flavorful dish. The rich, herby filling and the delicate anchovies on top created a complex and utterly delicious bite. This is my favorite! Finally, the burger was a magnificent creation. A thick, juicy patty, fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and melted cheese, all encased in a perfectly toasted bun – it was a classic executed to perfection. Each bite was incredibly satisfying. Overall, the meal was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, showcasing high-quality ingredients and skillful preparation. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for an unforgettable dining experience!

We tried Faubourg 46 based on the wide variety of offerings on the menu, the fact they were open at the times we needed a proper meal, and the Google reviews we read on the fly. The service was very pleasant, prompt and accommodating. The food was exactly as we were expecting from a highly rated establishment. So tasty, filling and specialty meals with the Faubourg 46. Scenery is nice being adjacent to a beautiful thermal fountain. Thank you!!
Charals V — Google review
This place was a good find. The food was super tasty, the service was great and the vibe was laid back and chic. Check it out!
Joy B — Google review
Saturday and Sunday brunch is served buffet-style, with a huge selection of hot and cold dishes. You can have the classic eggs, bacon and multiple types of sausage; and you can also go with a continental selection of meats and cheeses (a delicious truffle cheese, and Comté). There was also cereal, pastries, yoghurt, fruit, pancakes and ice cream. If you want coffee, you can order at the bar. It’s difficult to make your way through everything, but we gave it our best shot! At €32 per person it’s on the more expensive side, but worth it for the quality and variety you get.
Kahmen — Google review
I got the Prix Fixe menu option, which was very helpful. The main course I had was their house Cordon Bleu, which was good, but not as good as the appetizer or dessert, which were sublime. Many people smoking, which ruined the atmosphere for me, but otherwise was great!
Jen G — Google review
The brunch buffet was decent but not too different from what you’d get at a hotel breakfast buffet, so a bit overpriced. I asked for a drink menu and was told to ask the bartender and, probably because of the language barrier and lack of an actual menu, was misled into believing drinks were included. Would have been nice to see an actual menu to avoid confusion.
Kirst — Google review
Sitting at the restaurant now - food: ordered the ribeye steak, got a tough cheap sirloin at best. Ordered a burger med-well, got a raw burger. Sent burger back and they disassembled it, cooked the burger more and then reassembled the original burger - total mess. Ordered an old fashioned and got the most watered-down old fashioned ever. I understand it’s not a French drink, but it was on their menu, so they should know how to make one. Atmosphere: shoeing flies away through entire meal. CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Gaodina is a charming restaurant located just 15 minutes outside of town, set on the grounds of an 18th-century Provencal farmhouse. The restaurant offers a festival vibe with its breezy terrace, garden bar, petanque piste, and swimming pool. Guests can enjoy a delightful brunch featuring options like eggs, fruit compote, and cake. For lunch and dinner, the menu presents upscale variations of burgers, risotto, Caesar salad, and poke bowls.
Nice atmosphere, good drinks and food. Would recommend coming here, plenty of free parking. T bone steak was exceptional, but would be better with less salt.

We had a beautiful outdoor lunch at Gaodina in August and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The setting was peaceful and elegant, perfect for enjoying the Provence sunshine with a glass of rosé. I ordered the fish, which was delicious, and our group lingered over lunch with cigarillos and espresso. Service was warm and professional. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a refined yet relaxed dining experience in the Aix area. Great vibe and outdoor music.

BAR - An establishment where alcoholic drinks are served. Beer garden - A PUBLIC space, typically outdoors, where people can drink and enjoy food. One of the best selections of craft beer in the area with accompanying tapas menu that's great for a casual stop if you're in the centre of Aix.
Huge choice of local and international beers 👍 Also several interesting kinds of cider: pineapple, banana, etc. Veeery funny bottles 😆 Recommended to visit!!
Kseniia P — Google review
No food service when we were there, but they allowed people to bring in food fron the middle eastern take out spot across the street. Four French craft beer taps, and many other craft beer bottles/cans available for purchase, although pricing on some of those was unclear.
Drew C — Google review
Excellent choice and diversity. Good tapas like food :) If you want to try out beers: this is where you go :)
Simon S — Google review
As an American I have to admit, this hotdog made me cry. It was so good. The place itself has a very friendly, cool kid vibe similar to the feeling I get when I walk into a craft beer establishment at home. The staff had great recommendations for beer to take away. I had a French gose that saved my life.
Tiff H — Google review
Strange service. Required to order food, even though there was no indication beforehand (even the locals seemed really confused by this), and they seemed annoyed that we ordered a cheese board, rather than two smaller items, which would have been less expensive. They also did not let me take my receipt after I paid, which was extremely strange. It was also definitely difficult to figure out what beers they had, and if anything was on tap (there might have been one, but I could not tell you what it was) -- in all, not worth it.
Dan H — Google review
Small friendly bar with excellent selection of beer from around the local area and beyond. Also has good chacuturie plates to enjoy alongside the beer. Definitely recommended to stop for a few drinks if you're in the centre of Aix.

Bar Le Grillon is a classic French bar located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, offering a charming vintage setting for locals and holidaying weekenders alike. Whether you choose to sit on the lively terrace or inside amidst chandeliers, ornate mirrors, and vintage decor, you can savor the local flair while enjoying a perfectly balanced espresso or sipping chilled white wine.
A very quirky French café and brasserie with a very, very long history. The prices are excellent 👌 and I recommend the Baignat or the Croque Monsieur/ Madame! The mannerisms of some of the waiters is just funny and tbh quirky. Don't believe half the stuff you read re: reviews. If you want to take pictures inside (particularly Les cigales ceramique!) and the interior- you should ask permission, they told me that people usually don't. One for the entomologists for sure!! Vive Les insects!

A busy place on the corner of the Cours Mirabeau but great service, really good food - plat du jour salade gourmand and merguez couscous then very good desserts. A lively atmosphere - quintessentially French - and lovely decor.
Peter M — Google review
Your casual brasserie, offering all the classics. The rooms decoration is art deco. Food is fresh and has a good price/quality ratio. Popular terrace. Service is efficient and welcoming.
Barefoot C — Google review
Pretty authentic French bar. Orders are shouted by the servers to the kitchen the old school way. The whole place will know what you are ordering at your table The service was good specially that Le Grillon was pretty packed and people waiting for tables.
Carlo C — Google review
Stay away…The food and drinks were horrible. Pina Colada tasted like sink water. Asked to get something else and was told I had to still pay for the drink. The Bacon on the Club Sandwich was grey and eggs were green. Couldn’t eat it. The rest of the food didn’t have much taste. Decided to cut our losses and left. Wish I would have read the reviews… my bad.
Keith F — Google review
If you’ve had good food before, you’ll know the food here is bland, tasteless, and does not live up to French standard. Even the salt wasn’t salty. The silverware was not clean. I went through three since the first two had food remnants on them (see napkin in picture). There was also a piece of foil baked into my mozzarella that I bit into (see plate in picture). If it wasn’t for the fact that we were turned away from three different restaurants for not having reservations and having been very hungry from traveling all day, we wouldn’t have eaten here. The power also went out but that is normal. Lovely location. If you want edible, this is your choice. Or maybe for a quick drink?

The restaurants located on Cours Mirabeau are not just the places to eat but are the representation of what Aix en Provence provide as an culinary experience. One will expect the same with such a quality experience. This was not the case when I visited the Bar Le Grillon. We just had the café Gourmand and tarte de pomme. It was not at all tasty. Not fresh, not well prepared and not well presented.

At Le Vieux Tonneau, they sit outside in barrels during the summer months and cozy up inside during the winter. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, perfect for an apéro. The staff are friendly and patient which made me feel right at home. Wine lovers will love this wine bar!
Lovely place with lovely food. I can't recommend visiting here enough, whether for a quick bite or a full meal. We had the mussels, eggs ("mimosa") and the beef tartare. The tartare clearly had high quality meat, and was just the right balance between meat and the other good stuff. The mussels were a refreshing change from their usual delivery method, and were garlicky and well cooked. The atmosphere here is great too - really relaxed with friendly service, and the prices are genuinely reasonable for the quality of food.
Christopher H — Google review
Excellent. We had few wines here and saw nice plates of meat and cheese. Came back the next morning for late breakfast only to notice a menu that was completely different. They were happy to get their tapas menu out. Food and wine were excellent (although the snails were average). Customers appeared to be exclusively local.

Visited Le Vieux Tonneau on our first night in Aix and we absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was wonderful, food & wine delicious, and the service was friendly. Make sure to make a reservation, it was packed and we saw a lot of people get turned away. You don’t want that to be you, such a great gem in Aix!
Jessica T — Google review
A new found favorite in the heart of Aix. As a non-native French speaker, I found the staff to be super friendly and patient. The prices are great for the amount and the quality of food you receive. If you love great wine and cheese, this is the place for you.
Lyncie — Google review
Located in the heart of Aix in a little cove, this down to earth tapas restaurant serves up good local wine, snails, and a nice Camembert Roti, excellent good charcuterie plate and a nice atmosphere with a very kind waiter named Victor. Sadly the bread was old and the Tzatziki over salted and overly lemony. If you’re serving non French dishes make them authentic! I will come back because the cove is haunting and romantic. Far from the touristic buzz of the Rotonde. Go here!
Cali N — Google review
Excellent service, and a great charcuterie board selection and wine list. A highly recommended stop for anyone visiting Aix.
Daniel M — Google review
Avoid, unless you like seriously rude service…. I do not like to leave a negative review but I call out rude and derisive service when I see it. We arrived for an aperitif, we were ignored and then abruptly and rudely told to leave when we asked for a wine menu. No explanation, no reason.

Amazing !! Lovely DJs and bartenders <3

Tables already dirty and sticky at the beginning of an evening. If you're drinking anything other than beer, you'll be disappointed. Turkish toilets and no soap or pq. Eventual DJ but very limited space for dancing. Dusty decorations and the mites that go with it.

Got my beer mixed half and half with begassed waste beer of a different kind. They didn't even bother to hide it.

Was quite unexpected to bump into such a nice place (recently open) during a forced stop at Aix. Very nice staff with good recommandations (lebreton cabernet franc 🤌🏼🔥), experienced the best burger I had since years. Will definetely come back for my next Aix stopover.

Loved this bar. Staff were helpful and managed our broken French well! Great suggestions for wine and cheese platter was generous and filled with beautiful cheese including a memorable truffled semi-firm cheese. Wonderful position on the edge of the plaza.

Good wine, friendly owner. All it was meant to be. Warning to Americans visiting in the winter: the tent beside the bar with tables is a smoking space and has no ventilation. Sit inside if you can unless you smoke or love it

Céleste is a cocktail bar with a unique and fabulous selection of drinks. The staff are friendly and know their stuff, and the atmosphere is great. If you're a fan of cocktails, this place is definitely worth checking out!
What a cute spot, fantastic drinks. Staff was very friendly and it was super chill this time of year. Drinks were fun and seasonal and we thoroughly enjoyed. Even with little surprises here and there.

This cocktail bar offers an incredibly cool and unique experience. It is quaint and cosy with great music on the playlist and a dynamic duo who create and serve the drinks.
Sophie S — Google review
Great cocktails and a friendly service. Visited on a recommendation from a friend who has family who live in Aix. From my point of view, it's a super recommendation. Walking distance from the centre of town, this small cocktail bar is serving beautifully made creations from light and fruity to a more darker style of drink. Not so much of a fancy looking place, but the cocktails are top notch!
Martin ( — Google review
For cocktail/ Longdrink lovers there is no better place in town. Their creations are amazing but they will also serve you any Longdrink in the books. I would recommend to just tell the lovely barkeepers your personal taste and they will create a personalized drink for you that usually is spot on!

Next level cocktails! Some of the best I have ever had! Definitely worth the visit!
Eric B — Google review
If you're in Aix-en-Provence and looking for an extraordinary cocktail experience, look no further! This bar stands out as the best in town, offering meticulously crafted cocktails that rival those of the world's finest establishments. Each drink is a masterpiece, showcasing the skill and creativity of the bartenders. Despite the top-tier quality, the prices remain surprisingly reasonable, making it a fantastic value for such high-caliber drinks. Whether you're a cocktail aficionado or just looking for a great night out, this bar is a must-visit. Don't miss out on this gem!

Best cocktail bar we've ever been to. Amazing vibe both indoors and out combined with a thoughtful, ever evolving cocktail menu where they pull off rare flavours like jasmine that most others fail at.

La Méduse is a cozy wine bar located in the old town of Aix-en-Provence, run by two brothers who have curated an interesting wine list sourced from dedicated producers. The bar offers a simple yet delicious menu featuring dishes like croque monsieur and camembert croquettes. The bright and inviting space boasts window seats, a wood-paneled bar, colorful window art, and shelves filled with an array of bottles.
Absolutely fantastic evening with my wife here. Have to thank my concierge who referred and made the reservations for us. My wife enjoyed her meal and liked our bottle of wine they recommend. I definitely enjoyed the ambience and energy of this small 7 table restaurant. Friendly host and seemed like everyone had a wonderful evening there also. Would recommend to anybody looking for an easy meal, nothing crazy. Somewhere to enjoy each other's company.

Very nice and chill atmosphere here, had some good plates - the rillettes in particular was delicious. We had some very nice locally sourced wines which was what we were after! Highly recommend.
Ciara A — Google review
Came here looking for the meat I saw in the reviews. Was very disappointed to find they didn’t have it, or any of the other items I was craving from the pictures. The disappointment didn’t last long because the vibe of the place and service was incredible, when the food came I couldn’t believe how good it was. Hands down one of the best meals of the trip, was not expecting it at all. Every single thing that we were served was spectacular, made with care and purpose.
Victoria M — Google review
Our 2nd time here and not yet disappointed! It’s a challenge to find consistently well-thought out, delicious food in Aix. This is definitely a place to go to again and again. We shared the pan con tomate, their version of a Spanish classic: rice flour toast, garlicky tomato purée, roasted portobello mushroom, and grated manchego. The scallops and octopus were tender, accompanied by a nutty, sweet carrot purée to complement the briny lobster jus. And what I expected to like the least, I loved the most. Their stuffed cabbage had the such an herb-y pork filling and slightly acidic veal jus. So much umami in that dish! Don’t forget the wines, which are plenty in variety - many natural and organic. We decided to take a bottle of La Mongestine’s Georgette thinking we would take the rest home. Instead, we shared some with the neighboring table after they had offered some of their delicious El Pop with us. So many more wines to try…The staff knows their stuff and wants to make sure you return. And believe me, you will.

One of the best natural wine bars ever: enormous choice of wines and absolutely fantastic crew (plus great snacks and desserts). Disco club
When it comes to a night of dancing and fun, IPN, Bounce, Le Mistral and Le Scat are top choices for many party-goers. These clubs are particularly popular among students and offer a vibrant atmosphere for boogieing the night away. With a focus on American music, these venues attract a lively crowd looking to dance and have a great time.
It could’ve been good, but the dj is very rude, unfriendly and bad, the music never match the vibe
Alice R — Google review
My friends and I could not go in. Why? As simple as "you are five guys, only girls can go in". A club is supposed to be a place where people have fun together. No colour, no sexual orientation, no genre discrimination. If you think that this behaviour helps society making one step forward for equality you are completely wrong, since it leads to make one step back instead. Nothing else. It proves that much remains to be done.

(Translated by Google) You already have to pay 10 euros for entry (cash only, of course), and then they ask you to use the cloakroom again. The setting is rather modern, the music is just awful, and the average age is very young. They charge you 15 euros for a whisky and coke... (this isn't Cannes, this is a wine cellar in Aix, remember?) If you're with a certain number of people, a bottle is mandatory. Staff not very friendly.
