Located near Lake Windermere, The Albert is a cozy gastropub known for its inviting atmosphere and delicious pub grub. With a compact beer garden and regular live entertainment, it's the perfect spot to unwind. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of wines, ales, and beers, including offerings from renowned brewers like Robinsons. The pub is famous for its scrumptious Sunday roast featuring roast silverside of beef with all the trimmings.
We booked in for a work meal for 35+ people. Communication before the event was easy and the team were really responsive to our requests. We had to make a couple of last minute changes to our orders which were dealt with really well, nothing was too much trouble. The service on the evening itself was brilliant too. The food was delicious and portions were ample for hungry customers who had been out walking during the day. Highly recommended for a great night for a large group.

Really disappointed. This used to be a really good place to eat and it's clearly gone downhill. My wife ordered the Vegetable lasagna only to be served red sauce in a dish with no pasta sheet to be found. When we brought this up to the (actually very lovely) waitress she went and found the "manager" Raf, who came over to us immediately on the defensive. We explained that the "Lasagna" did not resemble a lasagne and that it didn't actually have any pasta sheets in it. He told us this is what lasagne is... And talked to us like we were idiots for questioning it. Ive lived long enough on this planet to know that lasagne is meant to be a dish LAYERED with sheets (plural) of pasta traditionally 2-5 layers and then filled with vegetables cheese etc. Serving us a pot of chopped tomatos and sticking a sliver of pasta sheet on top is not a lasagne and it's not worth £20. We were so put off by his attitude we didn't bother eating our food. We left, went and got chips and sat by the water. Much more pleasant.
David S — Google review
The food will not blow you away but it is good. The lasagna was very tomatoey. It was difficult to find a table and a vegetarian in our group was served a meat pie but the waitress was very apologetic. The atmosphere was good but a bit loud.
James — Google review
We’ve been here a few times for drinks but never eaten. The food was phenomenal, me & the wife loved our meals. I had the beef stew, so good it’d turn a vegan. Pint was a bit pricey but that’s the same pretty much anywhere now.
Dave — Google review
A very busy bar/pub/restaurant. Dog friendly. We tried on two occasions to get a seat for food but it was very busy so ate elsewhere but did stay for a drink. Higgley piggley but suited the place. Sofas, chairs, stools, cushions. We did see food being served which looked v nice. Would try here again next time in the area.
Jo — Google review
Location is good. Right on the corner in the middle of town. Too many dogs, on leads and in push chairs, for gods sake. The place smelled so bad of dogs we decided not to eat there. Have a dedicated space for dogs. Won't go again!

Fantastic Sunday dinner! The pub is in a great location, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It gets quite busy on weekends, but it's definitely worth the visit.

Visited when on an overnight in Bowness. Had been before and loved it and this time was just as good. Food was amazing with loads of choice and staff were really friendly. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

We've visited this beautiful restaurant and bar since we first got together in 2006, every time we visit Bo'ness we make a beeline for Bodega Bar. The food is as scrumptious as it was on our first visit. We visited here the night before we found out we were going to be parents- even taught the barman how to make B52 shots lol We recently visited here for our 18th Anniversary, taking it back to where we started. A wonderful place for drinks, Tapas, relaxing, or even a warm through in those colder Autumn days when they have the roaring fire going to accompany a nice cup of tea or whatever you choose. Absolutely wonderful place!
Chris C — Google review
Very pleasant atmosphere in the bar with Spanish background music creating a really relaxing holiday feeling. The drinks selection was good, although a keg ale that is not Beavertown might appreciated by some. Staff, for the most part were smiley and friendly although one guy came across as a tad full of himself. Lovely place for people watching in the centre of Bowness.

Great food & drinks, our server Charlie was lovely and moved us to a bigger table when he saw how much we’d ordered despite the restaurant being extremely busy, would definitely come here again!

Bar & grill
Nestled by the serene waters of Bowness-on-Windermere, Boardwalk Bar and Grill is a delightful lakeside spot that invites you to unwind while savoring mouthwatering dishes. With a charming terrace that boasts breathtaking views of the lake, it’s an ideal venue for everything from romantic dinners to casual lunches with friends or family. The menu features an array of favorites including juicy steaks, hearty burgers, and classic hot dogs, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Fabulous place to eat and just be at. It has amazing views of the lake and backs it up with top notch food and service. Firstly we hadn't booked and the front of house was very accommodating and squeezed us in when he could've turned us away. My youngest then split most of her drink which they cleaned and replaced with no issue which made us feel much better about the situation. So much choice on the menu and the staff were helpful in recommending what to have. I went with the dirty burger and upgraded the fires to loaded waffle fries and washed down with a lovely pint of wainwright gold. All excellent. My wife had the fish and chips and the haddock was awesome. Fresh white meat and perfect batter. Kids ate everything and shared the dessert burger for pudding which is a must try. Me and wife shared a biscoff cheesecake which was also excellent. No surprise this place is top on trip advisor. Will definitely be returning next time we're at the lakes and I'll be sure to book!
Chris C — Google review
We recently returned to this lovely spot after first visiting four years ago, and we’re happy to say the food is still just as great—delicious and beautifully presented, bringing back fond memories of our previous visit. The terrace is a real highlight, offering stunning views out over the lake and the yacht dock—perfect for a relaxing lunch or dinner with a view. Service was warm and attentive, and they were especially accommodating of our dog, which we really appreciated. The only small gripe would be the noticeable price increase compared to our last visit. That said, with everything that’s happened in recent years—COVID, inflation, and rising costs—it’s understandable, and probably to be expected. All in all, a lovely experience in a beautiful setting. We’ll definitely be back again.
Rohan P — Google review
Great service, great food, great atmosphere, provided treats and water for my dog and even sold dog meals! Steak was cooked to correct temp, the steak sandwich was delicious, and the ribs fell off the bone. Staff very friendly and reasonable prices, would definitely recommend this place
Paul B — Google review
The menu is well done, popular dishes we tried were the pulled pork, cock a doodle pink burger, chocolate smoothies, larger. The portion size is satisfactory. The fish and chips were very well done. The restaurant has a nice view overlooking the lake, the ambience is nice and the service is timely, courteous and great. FYI: it’s one the places BeardMeetsFood did the burger challenge, it’s well worth a try. P.S couldn’t add the picture of the chocolate smoothie since I inhaled it in 10 seconds.

Where to begin!! Upon booking there was a section for "special notes/comments", I had wrote that on the day I was proposing to my now fiancé and that if possible we could have a table with a view, they didn't disappoint! Upon arrive all staff were congratulatory to our engagement, Upon seating we received a complementary glass of prosecco and a card of congratulations. Soon after ordering our starters (calamari and halloumi which was delicious 😋) it was with us so quick we was shocked in a very good way, for mains we had 2x 12oz rib eye steaks, after 15yrs of catering experience we have never tasted such a well cooked steaks! Chef's my hat off too you thank you. This was a truely amazing venue for our special occasion! To everyone at Boardwalk Bar & Grill thank so much from the bottom of our hearts for such an amazing meal, service, attention to detail and just thank you, your establishment forever has a special in our hearts and stomachs 😂 thank you again!
Chris ( — Google review
A very beautiful location with a great plus! What made me choose this place was that it’s right by the lake and also because of their Early Bird special: two courses for £22, three courses for £26, which I think is excellent and very convenient. The only downside was that I came with my dog (2.5 kg) and was told we could only sit downstairs, not upstairs. The upstairs tables are much nicer, which was why I originally wanted to sit there. Perhaps they could consider making the upstairs area dog-friendly. Also, it would be great if they could add more options to the starters or main courses. If you visit more than once, the choices can feel a bit limited; for example, Piri Piri isn’t for everyone and besides fish and chips or a burger, there aren’t many other options. Adding more variety would give customers more to choose from. The service was exceptional and the food was very good. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back!
Claudia B — Google review
Really pleased with our visit. Even on a rainy night it was a great environment. All the staff were both professional and friendly and the food was everything I hoped for. The bavette sandwich was well cooked and flavourful, and the desert burger was both whimsical and very moreish. My wife had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection! It's a shame we are only up here on holiday, as it is a place I would definitely like to return to.
Rhod E — Google review
A nice space to get out of the rain and have a few drinks and some steak. Great view across the lake and very good selection of food and cocktails. Staff were present and knew the menu well and we would definitely visit here again.

The Fizzy Tarté in Bowness-on-Windermere is a stylish and modern bar that offers a unique blend of a patisserie, champagne bar, and cafe. It's known for its exquisite afternoon tea options, including the indulgent Ultimate Afternoon Tea featuring sweet treats, finger sandwiches, locally made scones, and prosecco. The cocktail menu is impressive with expertly crafted drinks using fresh ingredients and fine spirits.
Very nice bar and great service, the staff couldn't do enough for us and was very fast with our drinks, would recommend especially for couples
Paul J — Google review
Lovely cocktail bar located in Bowness, by lake Windermere. Lovely service and atmosphere. Good selection of cocktails, but pricey. Extra £5 for their signature version of classic cocktails, with not much difference to the classic version on the menu - ie: smoke in an old fashioned.
John ( — Google review
Lovely little place to eat. Service was excellent, cafe was nice and quite. Server was excellent. Great all round
Mrs M — Google review
Lacking a savoury aspect, sandwiches small and skinny and bread dry. This was £68 for two, voucher bought last November 2024 when the afternoon tea looked indulgent now September 2025 and the owners obviously cutting back and using cheaper ingredients. Would not go back, would advise this is worth no more than £17 pp.
Jeanette H — Google review
Came here on Sunday night bought 3 lovely cocktails and decided we would come back in the next couple of days for the offer of 2 cocktails for £17.95. Big board outside the premises advertising the offer. Yet when we went in no offer!! Don't advertise an offer just to get people in, if it isn't on 😡😡😡
Jenny G — Google review
Called her for a drink. We sat outside but undercover. Patio heaters were on and blankets provided. A large choice of cocktails.

This was a great find. Love the Decor and atmosphere. The staff are really friendly, helpful and attentive. We stopped for a lunch and shared a board with some extra bread. It was the perfect amount and tasted fantastic with great presentation. The coffee was really good and the non alcoholic cocktail was spot on. Cannot fail this place.

Fantastic ambience with delicious food and excellent hospitality. Just can't fault them at all and would highly recommend Baha to everyone. The friendly staff were really helpful in accommodating my family and providing a safe environment for my complex needs child.

We visited as part of a big group and did cocktail making, dinner and then karaoke. A great venue for groups - 3 different floors with lots to offer. Food portions were huge but the food tasted great! Karaoke was in a room on the third floor - you were able to order drinks via a buzzer and they arrived quick. A great venue to come to as a group!
Louise C — Google review
We really enjoyed our meal, we had the steak board, it is a random fusion of dishes but all were really nice quality. All dishes were seasoned really well and the steak was cooked to perfection. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all.
L — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, the venue is nicely styled and staff are friendly and enthusiastic about the menu. We started with the crispy lamb bites and crispy pork belly bites, followed by the dirty lee burger and a red thai duck curru that was probably one of the best thai curries I've had with amazing layers or flavour. But the star of the show was the damson blossom cheesecake which was a treat for both the tastebuds and the eyes. Next time we're back in the lake district Baha will definitely be on the list for a repeat visit
Nicole B — Google review
Booked here as staying locally. We had 1 starter two main and a bottle of wine. Even though the food was very nice we did think a tad expensive. We never had anyone check to see if our food was nice or to see if we needed anything else. The restaurant was not busy. At £28 for a bottle of house wine it would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted it opening/ pouring but just got it left on our table. Tbh the staff didn’t seem jolly or interested. The walls were marked and could have done with a bit of fresh decoration. But couldn’t fault the food we had. Asked for the bill but after waiting a while we put our coats on and had to go to the bar as our bill never turned up. Our bill had a service charge added so check this as you don’t have to pay it! Overall enjoyed our food but won’t be returning.

Amazing restaurant. Tables well spaced out and food superb. Best burger and cheesecake I've ever had. Quirky decor and good music at a decent level . Very highly recommended

The Royal Oak Inn is a traditional pub that has been welcoming visitors for over 200 years. The current owners have maintained the inn since 1995, offering casual rooms with some featuring en suite bathrooms. The inn is known for its hearty homemade food, wide selection of beverages, and friendly service. It's a popular stop for hikers on the Dales Way walk and is pet-friendly with a cozy atmosphere, open fire, and outside seating.
Spotlessly clean room with lovely view over the town and surrounding hills. Very comfortable bed and nice to have Yorkshire tea! A really friendly and welcoming service from all staff. The breakfast was truly delicious and of a very high quality. In a perfect location. Incredible value for money and we will definitely be back!

We stopped for a beer and a bit garlic bread on a lovely sunny afternoon. The town was packed and although this is only a couple of minutes off the beaten track it was quiet enough to get a bench outside. Plenty of great beer to choose from and the landlord clearly knows what they're doing and all the ones we tried were crystal clear and delicious. Restaurant area looked nice too

Visited the Royal Oak on the 1st July for a day trip, so we thought we would try the Royal Oak Pub. I have to say it was absolutely lovely, the atmosphere, the young girl (Hannah) was absolutely amazing, if it wasn't for her we wouldn't have even experienced the quality of the venue. The food was brilliant, an hidden gem!! She is an absolute asset to the business. I am a business man and Hannah is someone I would love to have working for me. Having been shown the rooms by Hannah they really are lovely compared to the Angel and the Albert. I will definitely book a room here. Lovely. Thank you Hannah. X

Stumbled across this lovely pub after walking around Boness, found it on a side street away from the main roads and glad we did! We sat outside and had a lovely lunch. The service/grounds/bar is great and the food was just what we wanted! And bonus points for making our dog a sausage for his lunch (we asked when ordering ours). Will be back when visiting the lakes!! 👍🏼
Mark H — Google review
We didn’t stay here but had a lovely Sunday lunch. I had steak and ale pie and my husband had a roast lamb and both were delicious! Really cosy vibe with an open fire, dog friendly and the staff are really nice. Would recommend for sure!
Frances F — Google review
Stayed for a couple of nights in Room 2. The bedroom was spacious, tastefully decorated and the bed was incredibly comfy. The bathroom is a little dated, but it is clean and a good size. There is customer parking at the pub. The spaces are a little small, but we were warned of that in advance and it wasn't a problem. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and just enough on the plate to set us up for the day. We also ate at the pub on our first evening and really enjoyed the home cooked meals, especially the meat and potato pie. Bowness can get quite noisy on a weekend. Being an old building, some of that noise can be heard in the room, but it didn't disturb us.

We had a lovely meal here. Staff were friendly and even attentive to our dog giving him a treat and bringing water over to him. The food was mostly lovely. Wasn't so keen on the beef brisket sandwich, beef was hard at the ends couldnt even bite through it 🤣 The prawn and halloumi pasta special and fish and chips were very good. Food came out quickly. Would recommend eating here.

A really nice place to have some pub food with a view close to Bowness. The sweet and sour pork belly was very flavorful and the two mains also really great, even though a bit too oily. We had a fun night while also participating in the Thursday night pub quiz!

Great spot for lunch on the marina. Friendly staff and both indoor/outdoor seating available. Reasonably priced lunch options. Only suggestion would be to serve the Steak and Onion sandwich in a ciabatta roll rather than the sliced bread - it did not hold up well!
George C — Google review
Really pretty place, it was quite quiet during our visit which meant we got a lovely window seat looking out at the view. Staff were polite and attentive, and really great with my allergies too. Cocktails were delicious and well made made. My partner had Sweet & Sour Pork Belly Bites to start which were delicious! I had Creamy Mushrooms with Sour Dough & a Poached Egg and it was so yummy. For mains, I ordered the Thai Green Curry, and my partner had Fish & Chips. The curry was VERY spicy for Thai Green, so I struggled to eat it but the flavours were lovely. Partners chips were especially good, and overall all really nice! We didn't have space for dessert!

Staying in the nearby Campsite, the location was a short stroll and a perfect place for Sunday lunch, with peaceful views across the marina. The team were warmly welcoming and friendly and the roast lunch meals were well prepared, flavourful, ample and memorably good. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Shout out to Scott.

We were staying in one of the boathouses on the marina in February and called here on our first night for food and a drink. The Boathouse setting directly on the marina is very nice and it had some seating outside which I can imagine in the summer would be lovely.

Had Sunday brunch here, though we seemed to be the only ones who ordered that 🙈 Had the beef and the lamb, lamb was better. Waited awfully long for the food though! People who ordered pizzas or burgers seemed to have gotten them faster.
Ming T — Google review
Had the beef rib main, it just melted off the bone! Huge portion, tasted unbelievable. The mash, veg, gravy/jus was just incredible too! Cant wait to come back and try more on the menu. Excellent value for money too especially for the quality of the food! Gluten free options available (shame the fries were cooked in the same fryer as some of the other gluten products- but the waitress informed us of this before we ordered thankfully)! and they are also dog friendly too! Very welcoming and super friendly. Don’t walk past this place! You must try it!!

I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant today. We ordered two hamburgers and honestly, it was the worst one I've ever had. The meat had absolutely no flavor—it tasted like it had been boiled, not grilled. There was no seasoning, no texture, just a bland, soggy mess. I couldn't even finish it, and that's saying a lot because I almost never leave food on my plate. If you're looking for a good burger, I suggest you look elsewhere. This place seriously needs to rethink how they prepare their food.
Ersan S — Google review
Such a lovely place to eat out. We had a dog with us, so they made sure she has some water to drink and everyone was so lovely. We went there at least a few times during out stay as it's tucked in away from all the crowds, but still very close to the main areas of the city. They have loads of choice for all sorts of food, so there is definitely something for everyone. Food itself is a little bit on the pricey side, but the quality is well worth to pay for. They also had some live music on the weekend. Would definitely visit again!

Visited the Easy Breeze for the first time and was really impressed. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing! We both had the salt and pepper chicken and loved it.

One of the best brew beer I ever had just try their “Boats n hose” beer,It’s amazing. They also serve pizza , garlic bread and nachos. We had pizza that was really good, but garlic bread was okay and too salty.Nice ambience and lake view .Highly recommend

Always a lovely place to visit. Pizzas are always amazing. Quiet today as a weekday out of season and a rainy day. One of our favorite places to visit and never disappoints.

I had lunch here with my friends. The weather was amazing; the lake view tables were mesmerizing. We ate pizza and nachos, and I liked it.

Sit back, Relax with great views and atmosphere to match! We have been visiting Bowness for years and have somehow missed out on the Boater Bar until now. What a mistake! This bar and restaurant is a true gem with its stunning views of the lake and various seating options, including a large outdoor sun terrace. The Bar offers a great selection of wines, spirits, and craft beers at very reasonable prices. nd for sports enthusiasts, the bar does not disappoint; numerous large screen TVs are strategically placed so you can catch the action from almost any seat. We was lucky enough to visit on a Tuesday and made the best of the Pizza offer they had on, we would have loved to try a coffee and cake after but our stomachs were so full! But defiantly on our visit. We visited on a Tuesday, which happened to be their pizza offer day, and I must say, the pizza did not disappoint! It was delicious and definitely hit the spot. While we were tempted to indulge in coffee and cake afterward, we were too full to manage another bite – but it’s definitely on our list for our next visit! If your visiting the area area the Bar is easily accessible with multiple parking options nearby. The staff are super friendly, enthusiastic, and contribute to the bar's great atmosphere. We can't wait to return on our next visit to Bowness. thanks Rebecca.

Went for Craftanoon tea that we had been bought as an Xmas pressie. Choice of pizza was brilliant ( you could also upgrade) and great choice of beers to try. Staff were lovely and friendly and food was amazing. Will be back and highly recommend if you are in the area.

One of the best lineups of craft beer available in the Bowness / Windermere area, all at reasonable prices served by friendly staff. TNT sports on the large monitors, loads of charging points and what must be one of the most stunning views of Lake Windermere from the terrace.

Lakefront Perfection at The Boaters Bar The Boaters Bar is an absolute gem tucked right on the edge of Lake Windermere—easily one of the best dining views in the Lake District. We enjoyed the most incredible homemade pizzas, perfectly crisp and full of flavour, all while overlooking the glittering water and a marina full of sleek, high-end boats. It doesn’t get more picturesque than this. The atmosphere strikes a lovely balance between laid-back and luxe, and their house-made gins are a must-try—refreshing, smooth, and the perfect lakeside indulgence. Whether you're popping in for a casual bite or sipping cocktails as the sun sets over the lake, Boaters Bar delivers on all fronts. Great food, stellar drinks, and unbeatable views. Don’t miss it!

We had a prebooked "Crafternoon Tea" which comprised of a flight of six beers and two pizzas of our choice. We were given a welcome by a very friendly and enthusiastic member of staff, Rebecca, who showed us to a reserved lake view table. She clearly explained all our options, the background to the bar and the beer we would be tasting. The beer was good and the pizzas were great. Our experience was so good that returned for breakfast the following day. We served the best bacon and sausage breakfast roll we've ever had!! Highly recommend Boaters Bar!

Lake View Garden Bar is a casual and scenic hangout spot in the Lake District, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Windermere. Whether you prefer outdoor or indoor seating, this bar has it all. The menu features a variety of options including burgers, pizzas, draught beer, and creative cocktails. With its friendly atmosphere and stunning scenery, it's an ideal place for a relaxed evening with friends or a romantic date night.
Good weather, a drink, the view over Windermere. What else is there to say. Great bar in a superb location. Ate and drank there and would recommend. Drinks a little pricey but you've got to remember where they are; prime site in a major tourist attraction. Get up on the balcony for a lake side view if you can. We were spoiled having visited during a dry and warm August. Great place to unwind

If you are visiting the Lake district for a pint with a perfect view, then the lake view garden bar is a must. It offers an amazing view of the lakes. There is a balcony or garden area to take in the views and atmosphere. There is also a qwerkyness to the place too if you chose to sit in, with plenty of decor to look around. The food is very nice too, it looks and tasted amazing plenty of choice to choose from not just your average pub food.

The Lake View Garden Bar is a fantastic spot with stunning views across the lake, making it the perfect place to relax with a drink and a meal. 🛥️🌄 The food was excellent 🤤 All in all, a brilliant experience, and we'll definitely be back! 🫶🏼🤞🏼

Fantastic food including burgers, pizzas and vegan and halal options. The views over the lake are gorgeous and a good selection of drinks. Would happily come here again!

Called in here for a drink. We sat outside one afternoon which was nice as it overlooked the lake and had patio heaters. One evening we sat inside and there was a singer / guitarist on which was nice. Dog friendly.

Best bar & views in bowness, mint atmosphere with great selection of beers & wine 🍷 food was excellent. I would definitely highly recommend 👌

Fantastic place for food and drinks, stunning location with great views of the lake. Food and drinks aren’t the cheapest here but you need to remember you aren’t just paying for the food you are also paying for the location so it’s reasonable when you see the views! Highly recommend the burger and the cheesy garlic bread.

Lovely location and building. Let down by the poor service. The staff didnt give of a warm welcoming vibe and neither were they very attentive. This place could easily be alot more than what it is. Would reccomend for a quick drink but far nicer places to eat.

Lago Wine & Cheese is a small yet elegant spot that offers a sophisticated night out. The venue is highly recommended for its wonderful food, superb cocktails, and attentive staff. Visitors praise the fantastic cocktails with homemade infusions and generous measures. The Kinder Bueno and strawberry and elderflower cup are highlighted as favorites, making it a must-visit for those who appreciate good food and drinks in an intimate setting.
My husband & I were visiting the area for a few days and came across Lago by chance. The service from both guys working (I can't remember their names!) was brilliant and they offered to make a bespoke cocktail for us, which we absolutely took them up on! They were brilliant cocktails!! All of the cocktails we tried were amazing & the charcuterie board was brilliant! We hadn't tried any of the cheese before, but the recommendations given to us were fab and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely visit again in future! Loved it & it was a highlight of our visit!

Truly fantastic experience. Wonderful food and superb cocktails. The staff were equally wonderful and so attentive. Highly recommend this place, if you enjoy good food and drink, this place is a must go!
Stephanie G — Google review
The best cocktails we’ve ever had! I usually say I really don’t like cocktails and stick to wine or plain drinks, but these were amazing! They all had such nice flavours, but subtle and not too sweet. I think they have their own creations, like honeycomb vodka, there’s a very long list of unique combinations. We had 4 different cocktails and all were amazing, we’d recommend ‘honey I’m home’, and the strawberry and elderflower one. The people working there were lovely, and it was a really nice relaxed vibe.
Imogen G — Google review
The most amazing cocktails and fantastic service by Mark. The Kinder Bueno and strawberry and elderflower cup were my favourites. They're not stingy on the measures either.

Had a couple of cocktails. Had to be some of the best I’ve had. Definitely have to get the cocktail with homemade infusions. Didn’t have any food as we already had supper but wanted to try some cocktails
Alyna L — Google review
Had a great night out, with a charcuterie board that was super tasty and filled us up. The wine and cocktails were just what we needed, some of the best you can find in the Lakes, and helped us really chill. The staff were awesome, making everything even better!

Saw reviews on Lago and went in for cocktail. Lots to choose from, vast selection. Bartender Mark then asked me what spirit I liked and said he would make an original cocktail for me. It was amazing. 3 rums with passion fruit fruit was set alight on top then blown out and added to glass. Staff are very approachable and obliging Niamh served us with a smile. Well worth a visit.

Pub
Nestled in Bowness-on-Windermere, The Old John Peel Inn is a charming gastropub that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. With its traditional decor, including dark wood and stone fireplaces, the inn exudes a cozy ambiance that makes visitors feel right at home. Known for its friendly staff and pet-friendly policy, this family-run pub serves up hearty cuisine such as fish & chips alongside a good selection of drinks.
Roof terrace great for people watching! This has been closed the last view times we've been in the area but it was great to see it open! Lovely pub with great staff. They brought their adorable spaniel out so I could have a stroke! For that they should get 10 out 5 stars! Decent size rooms, and the roof terrace gives a good view to have a nosey at what's going on, and from here you would be able to hear the live music from The Albert. They also offer live music themselves, but sadly we visited after it had finished.

Celebrating our joint 50th birthdays, visiting an area of The Lakes that holds a special place in my heart, my partner and I only 'nipped in for one' and a game of 'Free pool on Wednesdays' while waiting for the bus back to our hotel in Rydal. We were welcomed with a smile, not only from the lovely lady serving us (apologies, we didn't get your name!) but from other customers already in there having a drink 😊 this place was sold to me already! Being an experienced hospitality Manager within a large brewery chain (Joseph Holt 😉) back home in Manchester, I know how important first impressions are and we cannot complain. As soon as we entered this cosy, friendly establishment, it actually felt familiar even though, in all my 40+ years of visiting Bowness, id not actually been in before. Being in a celebratory mood, we more than willingly sampled the homemade Werthers Toffee Vodka Shots which did not disappoint (only the one....again!!). Well the lady on the bar could quite easily sell ice to the Eskimos and we went back for more, they were so nice! This visit was topped off by the young son of the Lady on the bar, casually yet shyly, tinkling on the ivories and giving us a couple of tunes on the house piano. He ran away when he got a well deserved round of applause from everyone in the pub!! What a lovely young lad and a credit to the place 🥰 We eventually and begrudgingly, supped up and ran for our bus but after a mix up with the bus stops, we ran back down the hill, past the John Peel, to be met with the lady running out to shout us, concerned that we had missed our ride back. Going above and beyond seemed to come naturally to this lovely lady and she was already checking her local bus app to help us get to where we needed to be. We will definitely be reccomending this place to other frequently visiting family and friends and will be popping 'in for one' again very soon 😂...I wouldn't mind but we never did get a game of free pool anyway as the amount of people waiting to play was clearly another testement to this little gem of a place. Thankyou, Sue and Bri Prestwich, Manchester

Wow, what a clean venue. The toilets are normally my 1st visit and spotless. The service is really fast and welcoming, and prices at the bar are really good compared to other bars around the area. 🍸 very good selection of drinks available. There are plenty of seats to choose from. Very pleasant owners who welcome none locals to the area. Live music was on the night we arrived, so that was a bonus and the bar was within walking distance to our hotel. Result.

Good traditional local pub in the heart of bowness. Log fires, cosy bar, great service and a warm welcome. Some good Ales on with pool and darts available in there own space. Quiet Sunday night a week before Christmas. Staying locally we called in for some good beer and to play some darts and some pool. We'll worth calling in. Only four star as the dart board needs a proper light and an ochie that does slip forward. Dog and tourist friendly.

As a group of boys visiting from London we found out perfect base to drink and have a laugh. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the atmosphere was electric - would highly recommend! Shout out Claire and Parker!

Ic and Flic making their first visit here. I have only been a couple of times. Very traditional pub. Had a good pint of Theakstones Best. Very good but the only real ale on. Seems very quiet compared to those close by. No food but a proper games room to the rear with pool and darts. (Flic thought darts involved pinning his brother to the board.) Pool skills even worse.

I loved this pub , just 50 yards off the main Street , if you want a drink without the tourist crowd then look out this place , it even has beer mats...how great to be able to drink without getting dripped on.Give the OLD JOHN PEEL INN ago you'll like.

Nestled above Quayside on the picturesque shores of Windermere, Wheelhouse Nightclub stands out as the premier nightlife destination in the Lake District. Open until 3 AM on Saturdays, it’s perfect for those looking to dance the night away. The venue features a cozy atmosphere with two bars, ample seating, and a vibrant dance floor enhanced by impressive lighting and smoke effects. While it may be small, its charm is undeniable.
Can’t fault the place. DJ was genuinely excellent. Could do with a few more beer options but it opens late so not complaining. Left my coat there so will be back tomorrow 😂.

Went for NYE party, me and my boyfriend got kicked out after being accosted by a homophobe and threatened with violence. Old homophobe didnt get kicked out, we did for “antagonising” him. Left with our party of 12 people after only purchasing one drink. This kind of behaviour from staff, (especially with the barman wearing a “love is love” shirt) is absolutely disgusting. Bouncers wouldn’t take any explanations. Never visiting again, cannot recommend this place less. Side note, drinks were crazy overpriced and the music was pretty dire anyway, so no skin off my back.
Kaelan — Google review
I ordered the BBQ pulled pork ciabatta from the restaurant in this club because the food menu looked nice and I have to say, I was extremely disappointed with what I received. The BBQ pulled pork tasted like tuna mayo, which was disgusting and very off-putting. The pulled pork was dry and bland, and the ciabatta itself was stale and unappetizing. The food was completely unenjoyable, and I regretted wasting my money on this and couldn’t even eat it. I would not recommend eating here and will never be returning. You do clearly sell food✌🏼
Olivia R — Google review
I would offer zero stars if I could. I was kicked out for no reason while in the bar waiting for the club to open. The door staff were rude and absolute jokers, the whole experience was unwelcoming. Beer wasn't great either. Sounds like I didn't miss out on much though. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Mr owner! No entiendes ingles?

Just remember this is in Windermere in October at 23:30hrs. Great location and friendly staff, but there were 12 people in £5 to get in quite old school

Awful bouncers who pick on people they choose! Out for a friends 21st and they ruined it by being completely incompetent at their job and targeting people who have done nothing wrong, just to get a power trip!
Jess I — Google review
Went round Bowness last friday night & ended up going to the club. We went at about 11:45 & it was pretty quiet. The place looked good, quite small, but with 2 bars, seating & dancefloor with good lighting fixtures & smoke machine. The DJ was good, doing some good mixing. I'd say our group of 4 fourtysomethings were the older end of revellers, but the DJ mixed in one or two banging dance tunes from the 90s when we hit the floor🤣 On our way out, the doormen were keeping a few scrotes out that were trying to get in, so the atmosphere in the club was fun & felt safe! A good night, if you are up for making it happen 👍🏻
Jason D — Google review
2 doorman said me and my girlfriend are to drunk some polish guy and another bouncer. However I barely drink and he said he knew my girlfriend from seeing her at the school. Obviously pick and choose who they want inside. I asked for there sia badge number and they said they don’t have to give it which is obviously a lie as they wear it on there arm. I’ll have a word with him at school and ask what this personal issue is. Don’t go to this venue if they don’t like your face they will not allow you access and try and intimate you and your partner out!
