Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse is a laid-back hangout in downtown Anchorage, offering a vast selection of both international and local beers. The Tent City Taphouse within the alehouse features a carefully curated list of rotating local brews, including their own house beer. Recently, they collaborated with 49th State Brewing for a special dinner event featuring beer pairings.
The Hunters Pie was very good, highly recommended. My wife had the Cod Tacos and my son had the Blackened Salmon with rice. All the food was delicious. Service was great even though they were busy. It has a very nice outdoor area too.

Went here while in town with family, what a great place. Several of the in-laws were questionable and turned out to be the best meals while in town. Grant gave great suggestions and changed my wife’s mind on the halibut. The horseradish crusted was delicious and I had the Hunters pie. I love me some shepherds pie and this took it to the next level. Several had the seared ahi and said it was the best ahi they have ever had. Thank you for ending out Alaska trip on a very high note. Cheers!
Shawn G — Google review
Visited Humpy’s and was not disappointed! The smoked salmon dip was hands down my favorite, however the halibut fish and chips were definitely another. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. I’ll be sure to visit again, whenever I plan to make my next trip to Anchorage:)
Kimberly R — Google review
We were given this restaurant as a recommendation from our bus driver while driving to Anchorage. It turned out to be a great hit! We thought the food was great! We got the halibut and chips, the patty, the crab roll. Omg they were all delicious! Great food, great place to stop in for a bite to eat. Next time o go back to Alaska, will stop in.
Russell A — Google review
First of all Fiona and Catherine were excellent servers at the bar where we sat. We watched them work so hard and be so pleasant. The food was excellent. We had the halibut tacos and the halibut burger and both were great. The place was very busy but had a great vibe. It’s a restaurant and sports bar. It’s not loud so you are able to talk. We were not there when there was live music. We went on a Wednesday night.
Terri G — Google review
People referred me here as a “dive bar,” but I didn’t see anything “dive” about it. Great service and delicious food. I arrived too early for the dinner menu, but the halibut fish and chips were terrific. Highly recommended!
Richard G — Google review
We had the Golden Crab, Crab Roll, Crab Patty Melt, and Caesar Salad — everything was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. The place is super friendly and absolutely worth recommending!
Maty T — Google review
Gonna start with this... TRY THE CALAMARI! Not sure what sort of crack they put in their seasoning but it was exceptional! On the outside - crunchy! On the inside succulent (only word I can think of!) Even the aioli was spiced perfectly! This was an absolute hit! Ordered the halibut tacos and they were good - maybe a tad underwhelming for me in that halibut is a heavy/fleshy fish and I felt like it could have been seasoned slightly better. It was supposed to be slightly blackened but I didn't taste that. The aioli was OK and the candied jalapenos didn't taste candied! Overall it worked and the portions were excellent! This dish came with multi coloured tortilla chips and salsa which I actually thought were devine! They had a nice saltiness to them that complimented the tacos! The sockeye salmon burger was good but perhaps a touch overcooked. The fries that came with it were good. Service - excellent! The staff that served us was excellent! Tried a beer on their rotational taps which was really good! This place is probably what it is hyped up to be in the evenings with the beer flowing and the food following! With live music - I can not imagine how this place would not be an instant Anchorage favourite!

Glacier Brewhouse is a lively restaurant with a strong emphasis on wood decor, offering a menu featuring local seafood and wood-grilled meats alongside their own house-brewed beer. The oatmeal stout, served on nitro, presents deep and velvety flavors with subtle notes of coffee and roasted flavors. For an enhanced experience, the oak-aged version aged in Jim Beam barrels offers increased depth of flavor with hints of whiskey and cherry-like fruitiness.
Must do restaurant. Went after Princess Cruise, we beat the crowd but it gets busy. Saturday so had the seafood scramble and it was outstanding! Cheesy grits was my side and also great. Co diner said seafood salad was excellent. Burger and pizza was also good. Didn't try any beers but all hose made. Try it!

We visited this place twice during our trip to Anchorage, and honestly — it’s the best spot in all of Alaska! The food is absolutely outstanding — the halibut is next-level delicious, perfectly cooked and fresh as it gets. The beer selection is on fire 🔥, and the crispy potatoes are simply amazing — the kind of side dish you actually remember! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is super friendly, and everything feels authentic Alaskan. It’s the kind of restaurant where you walk out smiling and already planning to come back. I give it my highest recommendation. If you’re in Anchorage, don’t miss this place — it’s a must-visit!

Based on a trolley tour guide recommendation, we stopped in for lunch. An awesome beer selection and a full bar were a nice surprise. We sat at the bar and Heather provided excellent service. She was so pleasant and helpful with menu selections. We started with the calamari (steaks not rings); I had grilled salmon and husband chose shrimp & grits. There were no disappointments with any of our selections.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ We had the opportunity to dine at Glacier Brewhouse while visiting downtown Anchorage, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The ambiance was inviting, with a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Seating was comfortable, and the layout of the restaurant gave it a cozy yet upscale feel. Service was excellent—our server was friendly, attentive, and timely with both orders and refills. The staff handled everything professionally, which added to the positive impression. As for the food, we ordered the fish and chips, which we had been craving throughout our trip. While the fish tasted good, the portion size was underwhelming, especially considering the price point. Coming from South Texas, where fresh seafood is abundant and generously served, we expected a more robust serving—especially this far north where one might assume we’re closer to the source. We understand every region has its standards, but the value didn’t quite align with our expectations, particularly for a dish as classic and simple as fish and chips. That said, Glacier Brewhouse is still worth visiting for the atmosphere and service alone. We might return to try other menu items, but next time, we’ll explore other options for seafood.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and hoped the 20 minute wait would be worth it. Oh, was it ever! The service, food and atmosphere were excellent!! We started with the pretzel breadsticks fondue, which was so great! My husband got the King Salmon special. He said it was the best salmon he’s ever had and would eat it over having a steak any day! I had the shrimp and grits and I was in awe! They were the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had them from Florida to New Orleans and now Alaska and these were amazing! The combination of flavors were incredible! I also added a side of asparagus to my meal. It was grilled and seasoned to perfection! Our server was very attentive and great with recommendations. We will be coming back very soon! I do recommend getting a reservation if you don’t have time to wait. Thankfully, we did and it was well worth it!

I have always loved Glacier Brewhouse, especially as a place to bring out of town guests for amazing Alaska seafood. Last night I had THE BEST king salmon I’ve had in my entire life. I’ve always received great service. Be warned, it gets loud in this lively restaurant, so it may not be the best place to have a quiet conversation (or, be warned if your dining partners are hard of hearing). But if you want an amazing meal in Alaska, this one is at the top of my list. I do recommend reservations if you’re trying for an evening, weekend meal. I also tried the pickle martini last night for a change up, and if you’re a pickle fan and you love dirty martinis, I’d recommend trying.
Brittany S — Google review
This place was a random stop on a very beautiful Sunday afternoon. The host, the waiter and even the chefs were super friendly here. I ordered a clam chowder and I can say that this was by far the best clam chowder I’ve eaten in my life. This place is a must visit when you’re in Anchorage, Alaska. Thank you guys for the amazing experience! Will be coming back.
Travis M — Google review
Outstanding dinner spot. Lots of delicious seafood options and everything we ate was phenomenal. We both wanted to try the king crab so we got a 10oz add on which was perfect. The appetizer sampler was also a great pick to try a few different appetizer options- I couldn't pick my favorite from the trio. The brewhouse itself also has a great selection of different beers. My favorite was the raspberry wheat. Highly recommend giving this spot a try for a "nicer" dinner in Anchorage.

Live music venue
Williwaw Social is a vibrant, multilevel destination that truly embodies the spirit of Anchorage's entertainment scene. This lively hub features a casual American restaurant and an inviting rooftop bar, perfect for soaking up the sun while enjoying stunning views of Town Square. The menu, crafted by Midnight Sun Brewing Co., offers delightful twists on classic pub fare that stand out in the local dining landscape.
Always a great place to visit, variety of types of entertainment, all people are welcomed with open arms, no drama brewing. The City Boy Burger’s smashed burgers are top notch. Live entertainment is muah!
Marita A — Google review
Williwaw was a fun gust of cold wind! The bartenders were super kind and so quick at their craft! I was shocked at how fast my drink was made. The security personnel were also really compassionate and empathetic towards the patrons. There’s four major areas to grab a drink, a big dance floor on the main floor, and a little dance floor on the second floor. Both dance floors had a DJ that were killing their set! We went around 22:00 and there were only a few people dancing but once the hoards of 5’9” claiming to be 6’0” soldiers in their standardized military cuts came in it became a more robust party. Again the security is REALLY kind and empathetic and you can tell they only want you to feel safe and have a good time. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if necessary!
Emily — Google review
This is a three story party bar, with the top floor a nice rooftop bar with a small gas FirePit ! The vibe is young 20-40 from what we experienced and had a Latin vibe on the top floor as they were gearing up for a live DJ. The music and vibe was not for the 50+ set! Service and drinks were good. Younger people would likely give this a 5 ! VictorB
Victor B — Google review
Several levels bar in the heart of anchorage. Its conveniently is located to many cool spots to eat and visit. It’s hip and has a cool roof top. The drinks aren’t too bad. The live music was cool. The vibe was decent. The people seem cool. The bartenders are nice. It’s not a bad spot to visit.
Carlos R — Google review
Some places simply shock you with targeted, random hatred. Been to this place twice, and the atmosphere is hyper and overmodulated and they really get hooked up with great entertainment, so I give them that. Last night my husband went here for an afterparty after Sundown. Went to the restroom, came out, and was being told to leave by security. Both my husband and I were suddenly being looked at like we were criminals. My husband informed me he asked for waters and the bartender was suddenly VERY cold and said he was cut off. The security guard seemed confused why he was telling us to leave, and we didn't argue one bit, so he didn't bother taking us to the door because we were like "Don't gotta tell us twice!" I know that places like this can take their patron count rate for granted, and treat people poorly, at random. At first I was too afraid to leave a review, but I am seeing that my experience is not the only one. It IS targeted, and I am seeing that it's men that they tend to target. Not sure what that bartender's deal is, but she treated my husband in a way that really startled him, and it is hard to describe, but it makes a person feel like they committed a dirty crime when nothing at all happened. It's psychological, and I am glad people are speaking up about how randomly awful going to Williwaw can be. Don't worry, will never be back.
Alexandra S — Google review
My friends and I went for a rooftop social event but the event was cancelled due to cloudy weather. Our waitress was on the newer side and really seemed to struggle. The food took quite a while to come out and our order was wrong when it did eventually come. We tried to go back to this restaurant for a different evening event and were turned away early as they were trying to close things down. We gave this place two tries and both times were left disappointed!
Kayla F — Google review
Terrible, unskilled, lame We ordered 3 Yeager bombs and the shots were served in full size plastic cups. Not only was this a terrible look as a bartender is should have been embarrassing. I’ve had a lot of shots in my day and there was absolutely zero chance the Yeager at the bottom of these cups would even filled an actual shot glass.

Bernie's Bungalow Lounge is a vibrant destination that perfectly captures the essence of nightlife. This laid-back lounge attracts a youthful crowd eager to dance and enjoy delicious food, ranging from flavorful curries to classic pizza. The expansive outdoor patio is where the magic happens, featuring live music on weekends with local DJs spinning tunes upstairs and bands performing outside. Located conveniently near the Four Points by Sheraton, Bernie's offers an eclectic atmosphere complemented by a diverse menu that won't break the bank.
A friend and I stopped by on our way home from bar hopping 1 night. We did not have food. However, we each ordered a drink, and they were well made and reasonably priced. Nice chill crowd. We felt safe. And the people were Appropriately friendly. We will probably try the food next time.

This place is one of a kind and has everything you could possibly want for a fun family lunch/dinner on the beautiful patio or an evening out with a date or friends. The entire staff is warm and inviting, and the menu features quite a few gourmet-caliber dishes…definitely not your typical bar food! DJ and live music nights are my absolute favorite - no better place to dance! Taco Tuesday is a close second 🤗 Highly recommended!!

Have had wonderful memories from 10-12 years ago. Recently returned and had as much fun as then :) Bernie's is timeless and Anchorage would not be the same without it. Always great vibes.
Masha — Google review
We really enjoy Bernie's and visit often. It's one of the few places to go in Anchorage that you can smoke cigars and have a tasty beverage. Even in the winter they'll fire up the outdoor heaters so you stay warm and dry. The food is surprisingly good, and service has always been top notch. This isn't a posh bar, but it's a fantastic lounge and place to hang out. They do what they do very well.

3.5 stars ⭐️ A surprising find of what looks like a dive bar serving pretty good meals to locals and travelers. We had the Korean beef ribs, pizzas, salad, chicken wings and everything was yummier than expected. The cocktail I ordered was dismal though, the Gummy Bear tasted like cough syrup. Avoid! The wait staff is friendly and fairly efficient, although seemed a bit spaced out at times. Overall, a surprising find!
Piggy E — Google review
This place has a great outdoor patio and the service was good. For us the problem started when the "owners girlfriend" came over and kept trying to get us to dance. She also kept touching everyone which was awkward since we didn't know her at all. We politely declined to dance several times but she kept coming back, to the point two of our male friends got up and left. I get trying to make sure everyone is having a good time but she missed the mark and just came off as pushy and made everyone uncomfortable.

Mooses Tooth Pub & Pizzeria is a vibrant and bustling hangout in Alaska, offering inventive pizzas and house-brewed beer. The menu features a variety of gourmet stone-baked pizzas with an array of toppings, from classic to funky. Locally sourced ingredients are used to create each pie from scratch, ensuring top-notch quality. The pub's own brewery, Broken Tooth Brewing, produces popular ales like the Fairweather IPA that pair perfectly with their flavorful pizzas.
Super busy pizza spot, and for good reason! The beer and pizza is delicious. We got half of the special (Herakles) and half was brewhouse pizza. Both sides were packed full of toppings and cooked perfectly. The bread sticks were also amazing. We left perfectly satisfied.

Amazing!!! Recommended by 2 Uber drivers. Pizza is amazing. Love the creative flavor profiles and the classic pepperoni. The desserts were a delight. Rachel took care of us. Loved the whole experience. Yum! 10/10 recommend.

Pizza was excellent, and their rotational cocktail (strawberry based during our visit) was a pleasant surprise. The Hungarian mushroom was also really good. We were a group of 16, and the staff managed to accommodate us within 10 minutes of waiting — very impressive service! Highly recommend for both food and hospitality.
Aishwarya B — Google review
When we told friends and family we were traveling to Alaska, there was a common theme: go to Moose's Tooth! We had to cut our trip here short for an emergency, but had a few hours in Anchorage. We decided to have a lunch here and we're not disappointed! While the food and beer are definitely off the charts, the people are what makes this place so amazing. Julia was our server and really brightened our day in a way we can't even describe. Her energy boosted our spirits while the amazing food nourished our souls. I wish we could take this place back with us to Texas. It will forever be on our hearts.
Drew C — Google review
A very busy place! Was told it would be a 40 minute wait. Love that you can grab a drink and wait on the patio around the fire pit while you wait. The wait ended up only being 20 minutes. Our waitress was very friendly. Loved that they do 1/2 &1/2 pizzas. We tried the carnivore, the classic, call of the wild and chicken bacon ranch. The pizza crust is very good! The chicken bacon ranch was our least favorite. The root beer is crisp and delicious! Tried the pineapple upside cheesecake was disappointed that it lacked pineapple flavor. Overall would recommend and come back!
Lindsey — Google review
This place lives up to the hype—and then some. We tried three different pizzas, each totally unique and absolutely delicious. From bold flavor combos to perfectly chewy crusts, every slice was a win. The menu is full of creative options, and honestly, it was hard to choose (not a bad problem to have). Each pizza brought something different to the table, and there wasn’t a single bite we didn’t love. It’s easy to see why this place is a local favorite. Great vibes, fun atmosphere, and pizza that’ll haunt your dreams in the best way. Pro tip: Come hungry and bring friends so you can try more than one!
Laura L — Google review
Dinner on a weeknight, seated after a very short wait. I had heard about Moose’s Tooth before even arriving in Alaska so I knew I had to try them! I was not disappointed! Ordered a pizza for the table to enjoy and it met expectations. The crust was perfectly cooked and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. Our server was friendly and attentive. Already planning a return visit before departing Alaska! I highly recommend Moose’s Tooth!!
Brian B — Google review
pretty good! Pizza was *one* of the best I’ve had, easily top 3. I had a small pizza—1/2 carnivore and 1/2 firehouse. Crust was delicious. Cobbler was alright too, very filling. Pretty popular spot so this was actually the second time I tried to come here, since the wait time yesterday was very long. After being recommended at least once a day since I’ve been here, I think it’s definitely worth it. My server was amazing with her recommendations and in giving personal dish preferences. Stellar service!

Orso, meaning bear in Italian, is a popular dining spot located near Anchorage's performing arts center. The restaurant offers a menu featuring local seafood and grilled meats, complemented by an extensive selection of over 20 wines by the glass. The decor resembles that of a Tuscan villa rather than a typical bistro in Anchorage, with no deer antlers or beer rugs in sight.
For starters we had flat bread, for main course Parmesan crusted halibut and fresh catch of the day, king salmon with couscous , grilled asparagus, cherry tomatoes and olives. Well balanced dish!! For dessert we had the best bread pudding I had
Codlea — Google review
Disappointed in the quality of the food. The king crab legs were good, but the couscous wasn’t edible. The grilled squash and zucchini were just okay. The grilled asparagus was very good. Service was very good. All in all, I would not go back. Even with a 20% discount due to buying gift cards at Costco, I don’t feel the meal was worth the money. The Bavarian Hefeweizen was the best part of the meal. My husband had the grilled ribeye. We both felt we make a better steak at home.
Christine D — Google review
Walking into Orso, I immediately felt comfortable. The atmosphere is casual enough to keep things relaxed, but there’s an attention to detail in the décor and service that makes dinner here feel like a special occasion. I ordered the halibut, and honestly, it might be one of the freshest pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted. The flavor was so clean and bright that it almost didn’t need anything extra, though the light seasoning and perfectly cooked finish elevated it to something amazing. You could absolutely tell it hadn’t traveled far—anchored in Alaska’s seafood reputation, it tasted like the ocean in the best possible way. For dessert, I couldn’t resist the pistachio cake. I’m so glad I didn’t skip it because it was a showstopper. Moist, nutty, and subtly sweet, it had the kind of balance where every bite made me want to slow down just to make it last longer. It wasn’t overly heavy either, which made it the perfect end to the meal. The staff were warm and attentive without hovering. They seemed genuinely happy to guide first-time visitors like me through the menu, which added to the positive experience. Overall, Orso gave me exactly what I was hoping for in an Anchorage dinner: excellent local seafood, thoughtful touches, and a dessert I’ll be craving again soon. If you’re visiting, especially if you want to taste halibut at its freshest, this place is a must.
V. R — Google review
The food here was very good and we focused on seafood, namely, the king crab, and a halibut dish, both of which were fresh and delicious. A vegetarian colleague reported that the portobello mushroom parm was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and they have good dessert options too. The place gets very crowded and we reserved an early table to avoid the wait.

Best meal I’ve had in Anchorage. Crab-stuffed shrimp w/ pesto pasta was superb. Great service and great ambiance. Excellent wine by the glass selection, and wine glasses were high quality.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The food was superb and the atmosphere very casual and comfortable. The service was acceptable if a little slow. I will definitely consider this as a dining option in the future.

This was recommended as the best place to get chicken parm in Anchorage. The chicken parm was good, although the pesto pasta had way too many vegetables, which I've never had with chicken parm. I'm used to Long Island Italian food. For that, 4 stars. Otherwise, food, service was good. I was surprised we had to pay for bread for the table though. We went September 11th.

You must, you MUST eat at Orso once in your life at least. This experience has certainly been a culinary climax and I will most definitely be back when I'm back in Anchorage. I had the Red Copper River Salmon with Rosemary Polenta and Grilled Asparagus. I was absolutely thrilled with my choice after one bite. The only complaint is that there was simply not ENOUGH grilled asparagus on the plate. My partner who hates asparagus raved about the boldness of the flavor. Speaking of boldness of flavor - the Rosemary Polenta was powerful and I savored every single course grain. Finally the salmon was executed with precision. You will absolutely be missing out if you miss out on this wonderfully decorated restaurant with unforgettable food. Cannot recommend enough!!

Spenard Roadhouse is a vibrant and casual eatery that offers a diverse menu featuring dishes like Thai curry, burgers, and pizza. As part of Fairbairns Locally Grown Restaurants, the establishment is deeply involved in supporting the community by contributing to various organizations and local causes. The bar at Spenard Roadhouse boasts an impressive selection of small-batch bourbons and cocktails, including house-infused spirits.
We loved the atmosphere here. The playlist was good. It got louder when more people came in, but it was the buzz of everyone talking normally, not people hollering to be heard over the din. The staff was very nice. The drinks were delicious. I got the Rhubarbara Streisand and my wife got the Orange Sunryse with gin instead of whiskey. My wife got the Reindeer Scramble with tots. She said it was delicious. The eggs were seasoned. It was spicy, but not too spicy. She made a point to note how incredibly fresh all the produce is. I got the Veggie Benedict with a side of mac n cheese. Usually when they say pesto is an ingredient, you can barely taste it. Not this time!! And the mac n cheese.... omg chef's kiss!!! The sauce was creamy, the crumb on top was flavorful but without being too salty, the noodles were just right. I eat a lot of bennies and a LOT of mac n cheese. This was by far the BEST benny and the BEST mac n cheese I've ever had out. 1000/10 most highly recommend

After living in Anchorage for over 10 years, I finally tried Spenard Roadhouse on 27 June. I am kicking myself in the @$$ for not trying it out sooner. The staff were great and the food was amazing. We had calamari and beet carpaccio for appetizers and halibut & fries, shrimp & grits, salmon burger, regular burger, and strawberry shortcake to top off the meal. Everyone loved their food and we all will be visiting again soon.

Family friendly, looks small on the outside, but seems much bigger inside. And there are several places to sit. We went for dinner and were able to sit at the bar without a wait. They had great drink specials and food was out of this world!! SOO DELICIOUS!! By far my favorite restaurant on our trip to AK. The menu had a little bit of everything. I wished we were staying another night to eat here again.

Absolutely wonderful service! I forgot the name of our server, but she came to every table in her section to ensure they had water. Very kind people and wonderful family friendly atmosphere as always! My sister and me had the Mac & Cheese and delicious Jambalaya bowl!

I cannot eat at an establishment that has restrooms which smell worse than any gas station or hardware store or truck stop I have ever visited. The men’s room smells of 5 year old urine. If your cleaner is incapable of sanitizing the restrooms I cannot fathom what the kitchen looks like. If you could smell this review it would stank like a mix of a combo of a Poop cruise/Concert Porta poty/poorly cared for Animal shelter. Do better Spenard Roadhouse what happened to sanitary standards? I read your response. Very unlikely you haven’t heard the restrooms are disgusting, as a matter of fact multiple women I was with said the ladies room was also very bad. So not sure how you’re missing the message. Maybe walk in there some time and check for yourself. I wish you the best, but cleanliness counts.

Sullivan's Steakhouse is a delightful dining destination nestled in the vibrant downtown Anchorage, conveniently located within the same building as the 5th Avenue Mall, making it easy to find parking. This steakhouse chain offers an enticing menu filled with succulent beef and fresh seafood, all served in a stylish atmosphere complemented by live music. While many consider it a romantic spot for special occasions, some guests have noted that it can get quite crowded and noisy at times.
Jessica was a fantastic server! It was a great place to celebrate a birthday and wonderful first experience here. Will definitely be back. They also honored all of the special requests put in the comments when making the online reservation. The live music was super nice as well.

We had a great experience at Sullivan’s in Anchorage. The atmosphere was lively yet upscale, and the food didn’t disappoint—we enjoyed a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, all expertly prepared and full of flavor. Our server, Jessica, was stellar—attentive, friendly, and on top of every detail. She really elevated the whole evening. Highly recommend for a night out or special occasion.
Andy S — Google review
I don’t usually write reviews, but our experience at Sullivan’s was so exceptional that I had to take a moment to recognize it—especially because of our incredible server, Eugene. From the moment we were seated, Eugene made us feel welcome, comfortable, and genuinely taken care of. He struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space to enjoy our evening. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and his recommendations were spot-on. I ordered the lobster, and my date had the lamb—both were absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were rich, the presentation was beautiful, and everything was cooked to perfection. But what really elevated the experience was Eugene’s service. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, made great drink pairing suggestions, and brought such a warm, professional energy to the table that it honestly made our night. Eugene didn’t just provide good service—he provided an experience. If you’re going to Sullivan’s, ask for Eugene. You’ll be glad you did!

Eugene was the absolute best server! He brought about a pleasant energy that was both professional and welcoming to the restaurant. The food was excellent and the portions were filling!

Sullivan’s was the perfect spot to celebrate a milestone birthday with family! Jessica was a fabulous server! The food was amazing (per usual). Three and a half hours enjoying each other’s company was the best!

Only reason I gave food 4 was had to ask them to cook my filet longer, asked for med rare and came out rare. And there were still lobster shells in the Mac and cheese. Didn't expect something crunchy in Mac and cheese. Servers are very attentive and on the spot, very polite and helpful. Was apologizing for the meat. Otherwise food was full of flavor and alot of it. When it came out I thought... That's it. But then couldn't finish it. The lobster Mac and cheese was creamy and tasty. Hubby had rib eye and loaded potato, seasoning was good and his was cooked just the way he likes it.

We had an incredible experience at Sullivan’s Steakhouse thanks to our amazing waitress, Jessica. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcome and taken care of. Her attention to detail was outstanding — our drinks were always full, she timed each course perfectly, and she knew the menu inside and out. Jessica gave great recommendations, and everything she suggested was absolutely delicious. What stood out most was her warm personality and genuine enthusiasm. She struck the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness, making our evening feel both special and relaxed. Exceptional service like hers really elevates the entire dining experience. Jessica is the kind of server who turns a good meal into a memorable night out. We’ll definitely be asking for her next time we visit Sullivan’s!

From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warmth and elegance that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and sophisticated, making it ideal for both intimate dinners and celebratory gatherings. The live pianist really added to the atmosphere. The menu is a masterpiece—every dish is crafted with precision and passion. The flavors are vibrant, the presentation is stunning, and the ingredients speak of freshness and quality. Standouts include the cheesesteak eggrolls, which is a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that will leave you savoring every bite. It should be available as an entree! The service is impeccable. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely committed to making your experience exceptional. Our server, Michael, made the experience so much more enjoyable, he is obviously passionate about his craft. His wine knowledge is extraordinary, demonstrated in detail, with his recommended pairings, and entertaining us with the wine room details. Hunter also made an impression on us. He is personable, professional, and adept at "reading the room." His level of personality and joviality perfectly matched our table. Maria was also kind enough to take time to stop by our table to say hello and to check on us. She made sure we were enjoying our meal thoroughly, and that the service was up to her standards. She was equally enjoyable. We felt like the level of attentiveness was appropriate, all of the staff were helpful and friendly, and the food. My God, the FOOD! It was glorious. Every bite was thought-out, immaculately presented, and so delicious. The Executive Chef even came out to say hello. I didn't catch his name, but he was wearing the most festive bow! The pièce de ré·sis·tance was the dessert cocktail. It was presented in a glass smoking box, the smoke had the distinct smell of a campfire on a cold winter's evening. The presentation was a performance all on its own. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or simply looking for a memorable meal, this restaurant delivers on every front. It’s not just dining—it’s an experience worth repeating, and worth every penny.

Crush Wine Bistro & Cellar is a popular spot in Anchorage that offers a wide selection of wines by the glass or bottle, along with shareable plates, all in an unpretentious setting. The bistro has been a welcome addition to the town since its opening in 2010, providing access to a variety of wines beyond the typical California selections.
It's easily the best restaurant I've been to in Alaska. Everything from the service to the food was on point. The Halibut with the miso cream was the perfect dish. The fish had an amazing sear with a tender interior, elevated by this beautiful miso cream sauce. A must try and I will 100% return!

Amazing service, Zoe was amazing. Food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, as were the wine options. Pork chop was phenomenal and my friends said the chicken was juicy and the lamb was the best he’s ever had. Highly recommend.

Delicious food, the roasted duck was cooked perfectly. Large array of drink options ranging from craft cocktails, a multitude of wines and homemade mocktails. The restaurant can get busy later in the evening, so wait times for food can be long. Food was presented well and tasted great. Reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes.

I always try to leave the review I wish others would write! First of all - this is by far the best restaurant we ate at in Anchorage and honestly one of the best we’ve had, and we are big foodies. That being said, we rated the service low because although our waitress was attentive and incredible it took 3 hours total from start to finish. Appetizers -*Oysters baked - oh my gosh probably the best ones we have had and we live on the coast! -Ravioli was creamy and delicious -Goddess salad was also very delicious Meals *-The salmon special was excellent. The flavors were incredible. One of the best salmon entrees we’ve ever had. It came on top of Parmesan risotto. There was a poached egg on top (which was delivered later kind of taking away from the overall presentation). Overall an amazing dish. -The prime rib entree was good but wouldn’t say it stood out when compared to the fish entree. Dessert They were out of baked Alaska so we got the crème brûlée and the chocolate graham cracker dessert. They were both delicious. Overall great experience. Only suggestion is that the restaurant could certainly benefit from some improved efficiency to decrease the length of stay for customers.

The place is nice and the staff too. Unfortunately there weren't many vegan options. There was a chance to make a couple of dishes vegetarian but no vegan option on the menu. Nevertheless the time I spent there was nice and even if they were very busy the staff was nice and helpful. The dishes looked tasty and elegantly plated some even artistic. They definitely have a proper Chef there. I'd hope in the future they'll have a couple of vegan options. for what I've seen the chef seems very capable to amaze us all.

We were recommended a visit to Crush by a local and looked forward to dining there during our one night in Anchorage last Thursday. While we were seated promptly and the drinks were great, our dinner took over an hour to arrive without communication from our server. When we finally asked for our salad first or crackers to tide over our hungry teen (after 55 minutes), we were denied both, told the kitchen was slammed and that they would get our meal out to us asap. Dishes trickled out over 20-25 minutes, meaning we couldn’t eat together. The food was delicious, but the service was disjointed and disappointing. Despite the server’s apology and mention of possibly comping items, nothing was removed from our bill. When we asked about it thinking she maybe forgot she had said that, first she came back with no, there’s nothing she can do. We told her how disappointing that was under the circumstances, and she said she understood. She then came back again and offered to comp a 3rd dessert - odd, since we didn’t need it and had already paid for two. It felt like a missed opportunity to turn a frustrating experience into a positive one. The bill was over $200 so choosing not to comp a glass of wine or a dessert that would have cost them $5 or 6 (if even) is just bad business. We had planned to buy a bottle of red to bring back to the hotel room. The tip was cut in half and the $20 they would have made on the wine sale forfeited...all for what exactly? Lost $, this bad review, and no future recommendation from us. In conclusion, we were confused and disappointed by the lack of hospitality. Would not recommend.

My boyfriend and I had the best time there last night. We were there celebrating 17 years of being together and they went out of their way to make it a very special evening for us. Even left a little happy anniversary note! The service and our waitress ( I wish I could remember her name, I'm so sorry!) Was incredible. She never let our glasses go empty and was cheerful and had a great personality. The food was so tasty and perfectly cooked. They gave us a beautiful table by the fireplace with lots of views to enjoy our date and meal. Thank you all for making this a memorable night out for us!

They went above and beyond for us. I made a reservation online with OpenTable, and in the reservation it allowed me to choose that it was our anniversary and had a spot for a note. I said we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and didn’t think much more about it, but they took it seriously! To our surprise when we got there we had a lovely table by the fireplace, with a nice tablecloth, flowers, and a card with included a free dessert for us to share. Our waiter gave us extra attention and it was a great night. We definitely will be going back and greatly appreciate their efforts to make our evening special.

It did not disappoint! Our dinner was delicious!! Our server Kelsey (hope that’s her name) was amazing! She was very patient with my senior parents and took the time to answer all their questions. She took care of our every need. This was a memorable experience and thank you for having the perfect staff to ensure that expectations are successful.

First off the salad wasn’t cool and crisp but not a big deal, was still okay. Me and my wife ordered the prime rib to share, we asked for it to be cooked medium and when brought out it was heavy on the raw side with pink all the way to the edge. We sent it back and I’m pretty sure they nuked it in the microwave, it was still the same cut when brought back out. The meat was super chewy sand loaded with tendons in almost every bite. We let our waitress know that it was not good and we still ended up paying a premium price for a bad cut of meat. We did bring home the left overs for our dogs, they enjoyed it.

The Fancy Moose Lounge has a nice atmosphere and decent service, but the food leaves much to be desired. The flavors were underwhelming and lacked character - I’d rate it a three at best. After breakfast, we had to find another place for a second meal because it just didn’t satisfy. While the setting is pleasant, the restaurant really needs to step up its game when it comes to the quality and taste of the food.

We spent three days at the lakefront Lodge. this bar restaurant it’s in the same building. We ate there two days in a row.Nice bar overlooking the lake. You can watch float planes, taking off and landing while you’re eating. They have a nice outdoor deck that wasn’t open when we got there in early May. Unfortunate .Typical bar room food we had the halibut with onion rings, club sandwich, actually two nights in a row and a reindeer sausage sandwich with onions and peppers that was outstanding. Huge side salad, friendly staff loaded with Big game mounts.

A great place to sit and eat, especially if the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Really enjoyed the food, and the service was good. What I enjoyed the most was the location, sat watching the float plane's take off and land. Ample parking, nothing to dislike here.

It stands out for its more than 25 gin varietals, rotating local beer selection, and high-end cuisine. The restaurant's clean and modern atmosphere makes it an ideal stop at any time of day.
Picture it: peak tourist season, July in Alaska. It's a Saturday night and we need a reservation for 10 and no one is taking reservations. And then South came through! We had a great table in a private area. The service was on point - helpful, prompt, and professional. Let's get to the food -- the star of this experience. I'm a sucker to try French onion soup whenever possible but I'll also judge your establishment based on the quality of this dish and the French onion here is OUTSTANDING. The crab cakes with the poblano sauce were also unbelievably good. In fact, our table of 10 didn't have a dish that wasn't excellent. I'll be back if I'm back in town again.

Visiting my friend and popped in for breakfast. We went to the coffee first. We ordered a dirty chai and mocha. Because the coffee is freshly made expect a little wait time. The dirt chai was amazing. We then went over to dine. We were sat immediately. The server was very nice and accommodating. We ordered the death by bacon sandwich, Benedict with crab plus scallop cake and a single order of the sourdough pancake. The sourdough pancake was seriously unique. I loved that it was crepe like. You can taste a hint of sourdough. The death by bacon was extremely flavorful. The Benedict was amazing and the brioche bread it as served on was super soft. You won’t go wrong ordering any of these items.

Tequila 61 is a rustic-chic restaurant in downtown Anchorage that offers contemporary Latin cuisine, featuring local seafood and an impressive selection of tequila and mezcal. The restaurant combines traditional Mexican flavors with classic Alaskan ingredients to create innovative dishes. The fusion gastropub reflects its dual heritage, with a name that nods to its location at the 61st latitude in Anchorage.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tequila 61 is a must-visit in Anchorage! We had an incredible meal here — hands down one of our best dining experiences on the trip. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious (don’t miss the tortilla soup or the salmon dinner — both were outstanding!). The drinks were just as amazing, and the vibe was perfect. This should’ve been our first stop in Anchorage and should be everyone’s #1 go-to spot. Can’t wait to come back!
Magda B — Google review
From the moment we walked into Tequila 61, the ambiance set the tone for a relaxing dinner. The decor appear to be very well thought out and the flower bouquets are a very nice touch. The Latin music created a laid back vibe that made us feel instantly at home (we are visiting from Orlando). After an afternoon of hiking the Matanuska Glacier, our server Ana A started us with the berry soda and Popcorn Shrimp which was very flavorful. For our main entree, Ana A recommended the 14 oz Gaucho steak which was absolutely just what I needed. We also tried the Halibut and the Duck Confit Tacos as well as the Carne Asada Tacos. The Duck Confit was absolutely delicious!!!!! And for dessert, we wrapped things up with the Horchata Cornbread which was unexpectedly better than I thought it would be. Overall, I loved Tequila 61. If I get the chance to go again beforethe end of my trip, I'm going to try the Salmon.

Cocktails were really good! We weren’t in the mood for margs, but their local versions of a penicillin and a sazerac were really strong and delicious! We were satisfied with the chips and guac. The entire place should have been cleaner (reason for docking one star). Staff was very friendly!!

Best food we've had in Alaska so far. Largest jalapenos I've ever seen in the stuffed jalapeno appetizers. They were delicious, with a smokey flavor in the cheese stuffing. Al Pastor chicken tacos were divine, very flavorful. Waitress knew I liked spicy food so she brought me extra salsa to try on them. Great food and service.
Megan P — Google review
The Pork Chops Adobo is missing the rich, savory depth that true adobo seasoning brings to the dish. The flavors feel somewhat flat and unbalanced, lacking the vibrant punch of garlic, vinegar, and spices that typically define this classic recipe. Furthermore, the combination of refried beans served with rice feels mismatched in texture and flavor; I would much rather enjoy the hearty, zesty notes of Charro beans alongside my rice, as they complement each other beautifully and elevate the overall meal experience.

Beautiful atmosphere. Loved the decor and holiday decorations. Excellent cocktails but wasn’t brave enough to try the $40 margarita, and I am a margarita connoisseur. The tacos were good-we had the duck confit, shrimp tacos. The guacamole and salsa were good, but I wouldn’t write home about it (my Mexican mom wouldn’t say it’s good but she’s a snob). Definitely great for a date night!

Had a great time here. Great selection of beers. Food was delicious and large portion sizes. I had the Mediterranean Melt. Wish the chips were housemade but still good. They didn’t have any gluten free beers for my friend, but plenty of cocktails and other drinks.

Friendly staff. Food onsite. Great beer menu and easy to understand pricing. Great view around the area from the 2nd floor.

Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch. Hostess was super friendly, waitress was not. We were really looking forward to the sweet cheeks sandwich, which we both ordered, with the pretzel for an appetizer. Never received the pretzel and although our sandwiches came in record time they were some of the worst pulled pork sandwiches we’ve ever had. Bread was stale and there was way too much of it compared to the amount of meat. He ended up eating his open faced, and I cut off half of one bun. Pork was dry and flavorless, and there wasn’t nearly enough sauce. We were both really hungry when we got there and that made it all the more disappointing. He also ordered the pleasure town IPA, which he did not enjoy.

I started working in Alaska a year ago and Midnight Sun was the first place I ate and the first Alaskan beer I tried. I also tried many other restaurants and breweries in the area, but Midnight Sun has become my favorite for food or beer. Their daily food specials are always amazing, and I love how they have a great variety of beers to drink (and they never disappoint). I highly recommend this place and cannot wait until I can show this place to friends and family when they visit.

My rating is service and beverage based. We did not eat. Service was very friendly and attentive. Beer sampler was tasty. The root beer was delicious.

2023.06.27 - Being from Houston, TX, I found the Greek Tacos that I ordered to be juicy and tangy. The Mountain Sandwich was huge and should be eaten in two sittings, see picture. The pretzels we ordered were soft and warm. The 2 sauces with the pretzels were perfect; a cheesy butter and a beer base butter. Delicious. Our waitress was spunky and polite.

Midnight, sun has easy earned a seat at the top 10 breweries in Alaska They are brewery that is not afraid to take chances on stouts and various beers that are fantastic. I love it when breweries take a chance on various beers! Overall for a IPAs I would recommend the puffin, PleasureTown and, of course, the infamous panty peeler! The atmosphere was very relaxing, and they have outside seating as well! The menu was fantastic with some great choices and staff was helpful was well!

The IPA was good, but the ambiance and service were a bit disappointing. The place looked closed when I parked but saw a few people walking so decided to follow them. I'm glad that it was open but was a bit taken aback when I saw several kids in there. I'm not sure if they were prepping for any event, but one of the bartenders seemed a bit distracted, and the other one was running around trying to finish up chores. The rooftop wasn't as impressive as some of the other breweries in the area either.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Anchorage, Darwin's Theory is a charming tavern that stands out with its quirky decor and inviting atmosphere. This local gem offers an eclectic menu featuring a delightful selection of beers, cocktails, and tasty bar bites, all complemented by complimentary popcorn. It's not just a place to grab a drink; it's an experience that captures the essence of Alaskan hospitality.
Hyper local place filled with welcoming locals. I had a conversation with two regulars within minutes of landing on a bar stool. Mixed drink was okay, next time I'll stick to beers, which are excellent. Good service and great vibe. Everyone seems happy to be there and in good spirits. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The Sitzmark is a great place to have a beer and relax after skiing or boarding in Girdwood. The vaulted ceilings and tall windows give you a great view of the action on the mountain, while live music, open mic night, trivia, and movie nights keep things lively all year long.
We stopped in while enjoying the spring carnival in Girdwood . They were extremely busy, but we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was good,we especially enjoyed the fries. A good place to eat when you are in the area.

I’ve lived in Anchorage for five years and had no idea this place even existed! Apparently, bands come here to play and take over the place at night. I wasn’t sure if it was just for resort guests or if locals could come too, so I asked—and turns out, I could! It’s $10 per person. I was absolutely blown away when I went upstairs—the architecture, paintings, and black lights at night bring the space to life. They even have an outdoor area with fire pits lit up. This is such a hidden gem for local Alaskans! Sometimes, it’s hard to find great bands and live music in the area, so driving an hour down to Girdwood is totally worth it. The staff was awesome, the beer was great, and the sound and acoustics were on point. All in all, an amazing experience—I highly recommend it!

We were super hungry and stopped in here on a whim since the place we had planned to go was closed. We ordered fried cauliflower bites, wings, a burger, bison chili and a couple of orders of grilled cheese & tomato bisque. Everyone loved their meal and was very happy we stopped here. We played pool after dinner and had fun watching the ski slopes from the warm dining area. It was a great vibe, reasonable prices and good food. Definitely a win win win.

After skiing for a few hours, we absolutely had to stop by Sitzmark! I think this was the fastest service I've ever received at a resort, we ordered and our food came out within 5 minutes. The waitresses were very sweet and quick to accommodate. Prices are average for Alaska ($7-$20). We thought the decor was very cool and added positive vibes to the indoor area. You have to give Sitzmark a try!

Came here for an early dinner and it wasn't crowded, so was seated right away. The large windows provided a great view of the mountain while you eat. Since it was summer time, they were using the lifts and mountain for the bike park. It was a slow time, so was able to seat ourselves and order at the bar. Once it's ready, they'll bring your food to the table. Ordered a few drinks while looking at the menu. Bar service was very friendly and prompt. For the meal, ordered the Sitz Burger and Buddha Bowl. Food came out fresh in about 15 minute. Food was pretty impressive for a bar and grill. Both were perfectly put together, well-plated, and tasted great. Great place to come for lunch in Alyeska. It was nice viewing the mountain over good food and drinks.

I hope the Management reads this review. As someone who has been a regular at Sitzmark in Girdwood for over a decade, it pains me to witness the decline in quality following the introduction of new management. My recent visit during the Christmas holiday weekend was a stark reminder of how much has changed – and not for the better. The Sitzmark has always been known for its lively ambiance and satisfying comfort food, making it a beloved spot among both locals and tourists. In the past, ordering Nachos was a no-brainer. They were a crowd-pleaser, generously portioned and topped with a hearty serving of meat. However, this time, the nachos were a shadow of their former glory. The portion was meager, barely enough chips to be considered a meal, and, to my disappointment, they came without any meat. It's disheartening to see such a popular item reduced to this state. The wings I ordered were tasty but not immune to the changes. They were noticeably overpriced compared to previous years. While I appreciate good quality food, the cost did not seem justified, especially considering the overall decline in the dining experience. Another letdown was the cranberry juice, which was unmistakably watered down. It's small details like this that contribute to the overall dining experience, and it was disheartening to find even simple beverages compromised. The Sitzmark holds a special place in the hearts of many Alaskans and visitors to our beautiful state. It's been a staple for good food, great company, and memorable moments. Unfortunately, the new management seems to be steering away from what made the Sitzmark a cherished establishment. The hike in prices, coupled with the downturn in food quality, is a troubling trend. I sincerely hope that the management reconsiders their current approach. The Sitzmark is more than just a restaurant; it's a part of our community's fabric, a place where memories are made. It's disheartening to see it lose its charm and appeal. As a long-time patron, I can't help but feel that the new management is alienating its core customers, and I hope they take this feedback to heart to restore the Sitzmark to its former glory.

Flattop Pizza + Pasta is a laid-back eatery and bar located next to Humpy's, offering a menu of pizza, pasta, craft beers, and cocktails. The place has an urban vibe and features pool tables as well as a DJ on weekends. Named after Anchorage's popular mountain hike, Flattop offers a calendar of events including beer pong competitions and cornhole tournaments.
Stopped in for lunch while on vacation, had (some sort of spicy) cheese sticks--normally not about spicy stuff, but these were delicious. Pizza was awesome, we had loaded meat pizza--probably could have done without the steak but that is a personal preference...it was really good. Waiter was attentive and keeping busy. Recommended the ginger beer, the highlight of my Alaska trip, gonna be looking for it everywhere--not really a midwest thing, I guess. The only negative was the homeless guy peering in the window and talking to himself, kind of dampened the mood.

Overall average at best. Temperature and texture of food was just right, but lacked flavor. Many other places in downtown worth trying. Also, specifically, there are other pizza locations (and more) in midtown that have unique menu options and taste phenomenal! Midtown has the better eating scene if you’re a foodie. Service here was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was calm and inviting for a Saturday night. I did not have an alcoholic beverage, but it seemed to pair well with meals for others.

I never write reviews because I own a restaurant and I’m chill. Tonight changed that. Right off the bat, the energy of our bartender was bad, aggressive, and unwarranted. I’m sure all the staff will know who we are because we brought kids because our friends son turned 21 and we wanted to have a space where we could all go as well as food that everyone would enjoy. I came later and I personally felt like I was treated differently because I was with that table. You cannot change my mind on how this bartender treated us. This is how I make my living and if I had a server/bartender talk to us the way he did throughout the night, tonight would be his last night. He treated us like we were the drunk patrons at 11:30pm at night instead of the 7pm patrons who were celebrating with family. No matter if I was wrong or he was wrong, arguing with me at the bar and telling me he did nothing wrong is unprofessional. He should have stopped immediately and got his manager but instead he wanted to tell me how right he was. I went and asked for the manager in my own. The manager was great because what I needed to say is, he is going to get tipped the same but he needs to learn more finesse and professionalism or he won’t last long in an industry I hold dear to my heart. The food was great, the company was great. Our bartender just about ruined my short lived evening. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Oh, and don’t autograt without letting your customer know. I’m cool with it as long as you vocalize it. My friend had to tell me that you were adding Gratuity to everyone’s ticket. Only one of us knew. My rant is done!
The P — Google review
We had pizza and salad for lunch, and the food was excellent. We had a medium sized pizza that was really decent in price and serving size (it would be a large in most restaurants), and a large salad that could easily feed 4. The bar is laid back, and there were a lot of tables that could have used bussing sooner. We sat ourselves, and it wasn't clear if the bartender was also the server, but he was...they could definitely use more staffing! The service is friendly, but it did take a good while to get our pizza out. It is a no frills sports bar with excellent pizza.
Vanessa M — Google review
Pizza, nacho and wings are yummy. A small pizza (12") should be enough for 2 people. Medium (14") and large (16") and pizza by the slice ($5) are also available. There's a $10 lunch special for a slice of pizza and a salad. Beer on tap is nice too. Only one waitress is working during dinner on a summer weekday. She was efficient in handling the crowd by taking orders, sending the food and cleaning up all by herself. This place needs some cleaning up though. No itemized bill was given when we asked for the check. There's no pasta on the menu. P.S: visited a 2nd time a few days later and was shown the itemized bill and the lone waiter on duty was friendly and efficient. If you want certain dishes to be served first or later, you should advise the waiter or else all the food might be served at the same time. Tap water is served here too. There are 2 pool tables and a basketball machine for free play. I will come back here again as the prices are reasonable and the food is great. 3rd time review: this time the lone waitress didn't attend to us after we were seated down for a long time. In the end we've to go to the bar to order our drinks. The basketball machine is not there anymore.
Alex — Google review
If I could give zero stars, I would. When we arrived, no one greeted us, and there were no signs indicating whether we should wait to be seated or seat ourselves. We approached the counter and were told to find a seat, but nothing was explained about ordering. We later realized we had to place our order at the counter, which would’ve been fine—if someone had just let us know upfront. We waited over an hour and a half for a pizza, a sub, nachos, and fries. When the food finally arrived, everything except the pizza was burnt beyond recognition. No one checked in on us during the wait, and we were never asked if we needed anything or were ready for the check. This experience was incredibly disappointing. We considered saying more in person, but we had already ordered takeout for others waiting back at our hotel and didn’t want to risk any issues with their food. Unfortunately, after a long day of travel and several failed attempts at other restaurants, we didn’t have any other options. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

My first visit Flattop was quiet upon my visit Monday, during a snow storm! This is a sports bar with multiple TVs. Large number of beers on tap and reasonably priced food menu. I had the Ale House Pie (pizza to you and me). Very tasty and very well cooked. The crust was firm and crunchy and the toppings were cooked just enough to be warm and tasty. One of the best pizzas I have had in a while. Slight drawback was the time it took from order to delivery of the 'pies'. But I can appreciate that the time was used to properly prepare our meals. 4 stars at the moment as it was a very quiet night. I wonder how it is on busy nights? My second visit was on a drizzly Wednesday evening in July. I ordered the classic pizza. The bar was reasonably busy but still plenty of tables and booths. My order was taken quickly. The pizza was served 45mins later! So slow preparation times was a common theme. The pizza was crusty and very hot; literally straight out of the oven. It was nice but pretty much standard pizza. I noticed that the food menu was noticeably shorter than my last visit with not many options and only around 5 pizza choices. The small pizza was plenty big enough for one. The bar was far noisier with loud conversations and music. However, the music was adult orientated with offensive lyrics so I would recommend not bringing children for a pizza here!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It’s one of the first places I went to when I turned 21 and now I’m 30 years old lol. I started going again this year for karaoke and I love it so much. The DJs are SO nice, the bartender’s Charisma and Cydnee serve you so fast and honestly make the best drinks. They work really well together supporting one another too, which is nice to see in a business. It shows this place has great communication amongst their staff. I even notice their manager checking in on them to make sure they’re all set. As a woman I feel so safe here. I also notice everytime I’m there that the crowds that hang out are pretty normal people which is nice. No one is out of control and they have a security guard to make sure no one is ever out of control/the space is safe. That’s an incredibly rare feeling in today’s world! GO FLAT TOP STAFF!!!

Chilkoot Charlie's, affectionately known as "Koot's," is a legendary nightclub nestled in the heart of historic Spenard, Alaska. Since its inception in 1970, this vibrant venue has transformed from a quaint bar with weekend bands into a sprawling nightlife hotspot featuring three stages and dance floors along with ten bars.
Like no other bar you'll ever find. Its like a food court of bars with a quirky alaskan twist. For certain events it's shoulder to shoulder. Other times it's like an empty castle. The decor alone is worth a visit. Great "drunk" food to share. There's a pinball machine room! Some pretty epic bands have come through too.

If I hold give this place a negative star I would. We walked into this place and the guy told us the kitchen was open late and we proceeded to walk to the back to order food/drinks from the bar and as soon as we mentioned food, the girl was extremely rude to us telling us how the kitchen was closed and how she had worked there for years so she knows when it’s open and closed and the guy gave us false information. We just asked once about food/drinks and we thought it was highly rude of her to just go off on us for asking a question. Would not recommend this place to anyone. You can choose any other bar in the area and I guarantee you will have better service and friendlier people to serve you and answer any question you have.

First time. I don’t drink but enjoy music. I walked around enjoying the layout of the place. Waiting for the music to start. Burger was great. I stood a bar looking at a deer skull and the bar tender said I was looking at him and I wasn’t. I was watching them get stuff ready for their shift. Admiring the details of the bar. He got hostile with me and I told him I’m fine God is good and stay blessed. I put my hand together and showed respect. He kept harassing me as I was trying to go back to looking at the deer skull. He asked me to leave so I did. I wear crosses☸️✝️ for my faith and he kept staring at them around my neck. Next thing security said I had to leave. Still don’t know why. I asked why they had nothing for me. I said it sounds like a persecution. He stared at me and said nothing. I did nothing as is in our teachings. God is good to me.✝️☸️🙏. If you are of faith I would be weary of how much you show. Other than that it was a cool place. Personally I won’t be going back. You don’t treat people of faith like that. I was just waiting for the music to start.✝️☸️🙏

Can't say much about food as I had none. But Bart, one of the bosses, was very accommodating and friendly. It's a maze in there with a variety of culture, history, and music, and even a game room with some arcade classics and pinball. There are multiple bars with different atmospheres. It seems like there's something going on every night. It's a bit crowded for frequent visits for my taste because people can be overwhelming when they drink. I'm running sound in the ice bar for a dear friend of mine and needed to tap into their system with my gear and their house engineer was very pleasant and professional.

Unsafe Security at Chilkoot Charlie's in Anchorage - Multiple Incidents of Battery Over the past 30 days, I have personally witnessed multiple instances where security staff used excessive force against nonviolent patrons. As a long-time Alaskan, this is particularly alarming because security personnel are typically professional and responsible, making this behavior completely out of character. This raises serious concerns about safety, training, and management oversight at this establishment. I have already filed police reports regarding what I observed, and I strongly encourage others to do the same if they witness similar incidents. Management needs to take immediate action to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all patrons.

**Service: Poor** **Atmosphere: Lacking** I visited this establishment hoping for a good night out, but unfortunately left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. While the bar boasts an impressive size with multiple sections that could theoretically offer something for everyone, the execution falls far short of the potential. **The Good:** - Large space with different areas **The Bad:** The service was the biggest letdown of the evening. Our waitress was not only inattentive but downright rude - the kind of attitude that makes you question why someone would choose to work in hospitality. Whether she was having a bad night or this is the norm, it's unacceptable for paying customers. The atmosphere felt off from the moment we walked in. Despite the spacious layout, there was an uncomfortable energy that made it hard to relax and enjoy ourselves. The vibe was strange and unwelcoming - not the kind of place where you'd want to spend your evening or bring friends. **Would I recommend?** No **Would I return?** No

This place was so rude. We are tourist and we just wanted to come for some bar snacks and drinks. When we entered, the guy checked our ID’s and told us the food service is open ill 10pm. It was 8:30 at this point. When we walked to the back we asked the girl where we can order food and drinks and she basically raised her voice at us telling us the kitchen was closed in such a rude manor. We only asked once! We wanted to visit this place because a friend mentioned it to us for a chill spot to hang out. Will never come here again and highly don’t recommend it for anyone.

Nestled in the heart of Anchorage, Pioneer Bar stands out as a quintessential dive bar that captures the essence of local culture. With its no-frills atmosphere and an inviting vibe, this beloved spot has been a staple for decades. Patrons can enjoy a cold beer or simple mixed drink while soaking up captivating stories from friendly locals who frequent the bar. Tasty offerings from the food truck- The Hooligan - in the back patio. Has picnic tables if you'd rather be outside BUT- food can go in the bar but alcohol can't come out. You can access through the big parking lot (plenty of parking back there!) in the backside of the block. Delicious homemade Tomato Soup, 3 variations on Grilled Cheese and the tastiest, most generous portions of hot Tater Tots! They're on Instagram with menu... but I can't see it without an account!

Wandered in looking for drinks and a good time. The patrons were great but I didn’t get the most friendly vibes from the bartenders, so I left after a couple drinks. I specifically asked a bartender if it was a patio, was told no. Then the patrons next to me went to go smoke on said non-existent patio. Weird. Would probably not return, but who knows, it could’ve just been a misunderstanding. Good location.

The highlight of the weekend is the fabulous drag shows that take place every Friday and Saturday night, showcasing talent that rivals major cities across the country.
Such an incredibly welcoming, inclusive, and fun place!!! The drinks are so unique and have fun names. ;) We unexpectedly went in and there was a drag show!! The bartender informed us there is a standing area in the stage room if you have not reserved a table. However, before the show started a server sold us a table. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DOLLARS BILLS!! Tip your drag queens and kings!!! The dance floor with the stripper pole is too much fun!! After getting bored of the same old songs at the spur (in fbx) it’s so nice to actually dance to songs with a DJ that KNOWS THEIR AUDIENCE and is also super talented. And, quite befittingly, the entrance is in the rear, not the front street.

Their musical theatre shows are literally some of the best I’ve ever seen, so much that I often go several times to each one. They are funny and the performers are so talented. Chris, the manager, has always been absolutely wonderful to us and taken care of us when we needed something. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

I love going to this bar. Everytime I go I know I am going to have a great time. Even when I first went and didn't know anyone, I was welcomed with open arms from strangers, staff, and performers. Now I know a lot of them from going more often. The Performers, staff, and managers here go over the top to create a fun, safe, and inviting atmosphere for all, as long as you show respect to others. They are welcoming but have zero tolerance for bullying and violence towards others. Great food, drinks, company and dancing. What more could you ask for! Keep up the great work Myrna's.

only valid place to go out in anchorage. everyone is welcome, I went with my boyfriend and we had a total blast

Absolutely horrid experience. Bartenders and servers were great to work with - but security/door staff were atrocious. Had a friend who tried to bring water out for another friend who was very ill, and was borderline assaulted by security for trying to bring (paid for) water bottles out. This happened multiple times, with no explanation, until a member of security followed us to our car and continued to verbally harass us. Allegedly, there's a no drink in or out policy - however this was never made clear from the beginning (otherwise we would've left it at that) and not posted anywhere. Very rude staff.

Wine bar
Beer hall
Fine dining restaurant
Corks & Hops, a charming wine bar that opened its doors in 2020, has quickly become a beloved gem in Eagle River. Surviving the challenges of the pandemic speaks volumes about its appeal and quality. This inviting spot offers an elevated yet down-to-earth atmosphere, making it perfect for those seeking a classy experience without any pretentious vibes. Regular patrons often mingle with friendly staff who remember their names and orders, creating a warm community feel.
Great spot in Eagle River. Food is very tasty!! Got the bruschetta, French onion soup, and steak pizza. I wouldn’t recommend getting those three things together because they all have garlic and onion so it ended up being very salty. That being said I would get those three things again but just pair them with different appetizers/entrees.

Corks and Hops in Eagle River, Alaska, offers a stylish, contemporary dining space, perfect for a relaxed night out. The restaurant has a cozy yet modern atmosphere that makes it stand out in the area. I recently visited and had the opportunity to try several dishes from their menu, which features a variety of well-thought-out items. I ordered the filet steak, requesting it to be cooked medium, but it arrived closer to medium-well. Despite this, the steak was still quite flavorful, though the dish was overwhelmed by a heavy-handed amount of sauce. It drowned out the natural flavors of the meat, which was disappointing. I had also opted for the "Oscar Style" preparation, expecting fresh, succulent king crab lump meat. However, it was served with a mediocre crab cake on top, which fell short of the experience I was hoping for. The accompanying potato lacked seasoning, and with no salt or pepper on the table, it felt like the final touches were missing. My partner tried the Fig, Goat Cheese and caramelized onion pizza. While the flavors were intriguing, the sweetness of the fig dominated the dish, similar to the sauce issue with my steak. We found that the balance of flavors could have been improved to enhance the overall enjoyment. Unfortunately, service didn’t help redeem the meal. Our server didn’t check on us after delivering our dishes, nor did they come back to take another drink order. The inattentive service paired with the imbalance in flavors left us with an overall experience that was decent, but far from stellar. For those seeking a trendy spot to enjoy a meal and drinks, Corks and Hops has a nice ambiance, but the attention to detail—both in service and execution of the dishes—could use some improvement.

The wine selection really is delicious. I liked the pairings of food and wine. The price was a bit high for the quality I expected from the ambiance. The atmosphere was lovely. I expected more for the $17 shrimp add on. But, I also harvest my own shrimp in Alaska. That could have altered my experience, and I should have never cheated on my freezer 😁 full of collosal sized shrimps. 🦐

Our favorite place to go on Eagle River. Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. My favorite is the filet mignon!

Corks & Hops, you never disappoint 🍷 Service is always on point! Our meal is always flavorful! Wine selection is always bold! The atmosphere is always welcoming! Our bellies are FULL! My girlfriend is visiting from Texas, and she said, "This was her favorite dining experience. "!!! #CRUSHEDIT

We had such an amazing experience at Corks and Hops in Eagle River! Our realtor, Vivian, was guest bartending for the night and invited us to stop by—so glad we did! The atmosphere is incredible: classy, modern chic, and with a touch of romantic vibes. It’s bright, spacious, and welcoming, with cozy seating that makes you want to stay awhile. We headed straight to the bar and grabbed a menu, and while we weren’t hungry (ate a late lunch), we couldn’t resist ordering drinks—and wow, their drink menu is impressive! It’s packed with variety and culture, offering something for every taste. Vivian was the best bartender—so friendly and fun! I tried a new glass of wine, and Joe went for a new beer. Both were so good that we ended up having two rounds each! We also decided to share the bacon mac and cheese, and let me just say—it was absolutely delicious. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly indulgent! We’ll definitely be recommending Corks and Hops to everyone we know. Whether you’re looking for a cozy date night spot or a great place to try something new, this place is a must-visit! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have been to corks and hops many times for dates and also for a nice a relaxing fun times with friends. This is a place that you want to go with you want to relax with your spouse or good friends, enjoy great food, deserts etc… The atmosphere here is the best in Eagle River in my opinion. The decor of how the bar and wine is displayed and the rustic feel is always a breathe of fresh air! I’ve had multiple entrees and deserts and all of them are great! If I had to suggest something it would be the Pizzia. I’m normally a beer guy and don’t get me wrong their beers are great but I love the pairings that you can make with the vast red wine menu! Deserts are great and I’d recommend this place of course for birthday’s. Cheers from me to you!

We went for the first time for our anniversary last night. Wasn't terribly busy but service was a tad slow, although the server was polite and friendly. Beer was great! Get the cream Porter! I loved my 45 day dry aged ribeye, but the veggies were cold. My wife loved her filet mignon but the bernaise sauce was overwhelming so get it on the side. The dessert and charcuterie board were good. Overall, a lil pricey but what isn't these days. I'll definitely eat here again.

Nestled just a short three-minute drive from Ted Stevens International Airport, the Flight Deck Bar and Lounge is a hidden treasure in Anchorage, Alaska. This cozy dive bar has become a go-to spot for travelers looking to unwind with refreshing drinks before or after their flights. With an inviting atmosphere, it’s perfect for enjoying games of pool and darts while mingling with friendly locals. The Flight Deck offers an array of affordable drink options that make it easy to indulge without breaking the bank.
This has become my favorite bar in Anchorage. Can't beat the affordable drink prices, awesome, friendly bartenders, kick ass pizza, and it is a locals joint. Never had a bad time here, and I'd put their pizza up against the best, including Moose's Tooth.

Tiny serving of lasagna that’s most just sauce and cheese for $18 is wild. The guy that gave me my order had zero customer service skills. Good thing I used a doordash gift card for this, I wouldn’t go here otherwise.

Looks sketchy from the outside but the inside is completely different. Great service, relaxed atmosphere, and good food. Unlimited free pool on Sundays

Had beer only. Nice place. Beer is way cheaper than other place in Anchorage. Went on Saturday and a staff said close at 2am. Gotta check before visit. Google map shows wrong info.

Love the staff and prices! There are many pool tables, darts and karaoke for those who like to sing. The bar is separate from Flight Deck Pizza.

If you're looking for a great bar to play pool, darts and rippies this is your spot. We had a birthday celebration and the Flight Deck let us have a whole section of the bar to decorate and have people join in the celebration. The pizza and food next door at Flight Deck Pizza is an additional factor to a great night out!

Tucked away in the picturesque Chugiak, Alaska, Whimsy Station is an enchanting event venue that effortlessly blends charm and sophistication with a sprinkle of whimsy. Inspired by the grandeur of a Victorian train station, this unique location sets the perfect backdrop for unforgettable gatherings. Whether you're planning a wedding, corporate event, or special celebration, Whimsy Station promises to create lasting memories in an atmosphere filled with elegance and magic.
I wish I could give 100 stars! Whimsy Station is an absolutely spectacular venue. It’s cozy and spacious, it’s cute and it’s elegant. Plus, the owner is so kind, thoughtful, and helpful. Whimsy Station has everything you could possibly need. After one event there, I’m already booking two more events and planning more! I can’t wait to go back!

What a fantastic venue! We hosted a family birthday party here and the set up was easy, minimal decoration because the venue is so pretty on its own, and it worked beautifully for our group of 55 people! A sunny March day so we had a fire going outside and the 10 kids had a blast in the backyard playing in the snow where the adults could watch them from the fire. A great space for taking family pictures and good seating options for eating and socializing (smaller and larger groups able to congregate). The kitchen and fridge were perfect for self catering as we did, with lots of usable space, and we loved the food cart that was provided. Clean up was also easy. We would 100% use this venue again for events! The birthday guy said it was the best birthday party he’s ever had. Thanks Whimsy Station!

Our dinner at Whimsy Station was an unforgettable experience! The ambiance and meal was incredible! The space made me want to sink in and stay for the night. So much history and so many interesting antiques and details kept us intrigued the whole evening. Melissa has a gift for details and hosting that you won’t find anywhere else locally and rarely while traveling. Thank you for making us feel like the King and Queen of the night!

Whimsey Station was the site of my Alaska 80th birthday party, one of four in the 4 states where I have lived during my many years. We entertained family and friends, some of whom I hadn't seen in decades. The venue was amazing and Melissa, the owner, made sure everything was perfect. She worked with us ahead of time and understood our needs completely. The view, the setup, the decorations, the TV, the dessert, the parking, couldn't have been better. I have been telling everyone I know about this place and hope it becomes the premier Anchorage destination! I'll want to come back for my 90th!
