American restaurant
Bar
Live music venue
Restaurant
State Park is a modern neighborhood bar located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It offers American cuisine, creative cocktails, and a wide selection of beers in a fun and lively setting complete with pinball machines. The bar serves delicious fried chicken that pays homage to the owners' Southern roots, using Mamalehs pickle juice for brining instead of buttermilk. State Park also features shot-and-beer combos, pitchers on the menu, and a vintage jukebox playing curated Gen X tunes.
Dive bar vibes, but the menu is definitely not your typical pub grub. We had the Chanterelle mushroom quesadilla, Creamy ranchero dip, Smoked wings and a Shrimp Po’ boy sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious! Great cocktail and beer selection too. Our server Jess F was fabulous. It was a very busy Sunday night, gearing up for live music and she managed to still be friendly, attentive and efficient. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu and enjoy the atmosphere.

Lovely dark bar with a good vibe and better food. $4.75 Narragansett, several brekkie taco options for all diets. All delicious. Super cool spot. Can't wait to come back!

Easily the most aesthetically appealing bar I’ve ever been in. A great restaurant disguised as a vintage dive bar, but not in a pretentious way. Interesting drink options on the menu.
Zack B — Google review
They should add a swastika to their trans flag out front - it would help their clients know what kind of people they serve. It's a win-win honestly, it keeps the colored folks away. I tried to order at the bar. The bartenders seem reluctant to look at me in the eyes. In fact, they seemed reluctant to serve me at all. I had to run around the bar 5 times, and I'm not unnoticeable. Eventually I waved a guy down who said "I'll get right back to you" after which a girl said "I can help you". And as someone who is of color, this makes me sad. And after all this, I discovered there was a mandatory 20% tip. I was upset, but the host and the waiter were very helpful so I didn't mind. I later went to the bar again to ask for water, and the bartender seemed allergic to my eyes yet again. Great bar, just not the nicest bartenders, but your mileage may vary based on your skin tone. Edit: Sometimes, I do not buy alcohol due to my intentions of lowering alcohol consumption. I just come here for music and/or dinner most times. Also, sometimes I stretch my back in public, for which I've been understandably asked to stop, and so I stopped. This time, I was asked to leave because I didn't buy alcohol (I didn't feel my body needed more alcohol) or food (kitchen was closed). I wanted to listen to music and watch a game of pool. And somehow my existence was a source of discomfort to some (supposedly by the bar staff) and I was asked to leave. Nicholas. I really thought you saw me as a person. I'm sad. I want to say I will be back, but honestly, it's hard to feel welcome. I actually forgot you guys completely ignored my first time of trying to get your attention, which I couldn't help but wonder if this was straight up you guys not wanting to serve an Oriental. Do Oriental lives matter? It's hard to say what these people think, but I just know I ran around the bar 5 times to catch the bartenders' eyes (they weren't busy) When you don't see me as a person, you will see me as whatever you want to see me as. I don't know how your bartenders see me, or if they see me at all. If you guys aren't inclusive, don't pretend to be and take down symbols that imply you guys are. Hey bartenders - if you're going to kick out people for not buying anything at a (god forbid) 3rd space like a pub, do you deserve that 20% tip? Second Edit: I went back to see a show, and Nicholas tried to be a big bad bully and tried to push me away. I asked politely to be shown to the door by security, and this silly big man tried really hard to push me out. I'm sorry Nicholas, I'm not a little weak Asian man like you thought, and it's not my first time a white man tried to push me around due to my ethnic background. I used my strength and pulled him off of me. I didn't feel good having to get physical with an obese man because I didn't want to hurt him, but I have boundaries which he was violating me by putting his hands on me. I said I will leave if security came and escorted me out, yet this silly guy still tried to push me out. I pulled him off of me yet again - and even then I was worried I might accidentally hurt him. You finally stopped after I threw you off me twice. My man Nicholas, you're big, not strong. If you ever have any back issues, you will be in an insane amount of pain given your physique. Maybe then, you'd then understand why I stretch my back, even if I know I look ridiculous. So that you are aware, Nicholas, I held back when I pulled you off of me. I held back a lot. I was defending myself from you, but I did not want any physical escalation in the first place - the person who wanted physical confrontation was you Nicholas. Given your propensity to escalate to the physical scuffle, Nicholas, I recommend that you become strong first. I am saying this is for your own safety, because there's bad people out there. This place is a joke. It's really funny how someone thought because he was fat, he could push me around. Don't put hands on me cuz I'm Oriental. Stay classy State Park. Edit 3: Added video of physical confrontation

We had a wonderful Father’s Day dinner here with our party of 9 last night! Drinks and food were delicious and our server Jess was extremely kind, personable, and super fun! Biscuits were a hit and our burgers and fries were mouthwatering! 10/10 for food AND service. The best combo! Excited to come back.

I went to State Park for brunch and I really loved the El Camino breakfast taco, definitely one of the best I've had! Unfortunately the asparagus taco didn't really work for me. I appreciated the bottomless coffee and the staff was fantastic, everyone was very friendly and happy to let my group linger after we finished eating. I would recommend State Park for brunch and definitely plan to come back for drinks.
Aleksander M — Google review
The menu is interesting and the food is good. There's a little something for everyone. You can get a cheap beer or a nice cocktail. There's easy snacks like pickles or a rich dish like the roasted pork shank that was on special. I love the atmosphere. The staff was kind, helpful, and relaxed. I look for excuses to go here. If there's no live music, there's a pool table. If there's no DJ, there's a shuffle board table. They have at least one pinball machine.
Kristopher K — Google review
Mediocre service and food with mandatory tips. Despite three front-of-house staff and only one other table, it took the waiter 8 minutes to greet me and ask for my drink order. I didn't let on at any point that I wasn't impressed, but they seemed perturbed by my presence, never smiled, forgot to ask if I wanted fries or salad with my burger, and when I called them back to ask for salad they did not tell me the "house salad" would be *only* lettuce and dressing. The burger itself was very meh (seriously, even a Big Mac is probably tastier), and it was all ( "all" not being much at all, honestly) crowded onto a side (tiny) plate. For this fully underwhelming experience a 20% gratuity is automatically applied to every bill.

Barbecue restaurant

Restaurant
Sweet Cheeks Q is a popular restaurant in Boston owned by Tiffani Faison, a well-known restaurateur with accolades like James Beard nominations and appearances as a judge on Chopped. Despite her fame from Top Chef, she chose to focus on straightforward barbecue for her first self-owned venture in 2011. The restaurant offers BBQ trays, Southern sides, and inspired cocktails served at family-style tables in a welcoming space.
Yep. We approve - the biscuits were in fact quite delicious. As others have heartedly recommended the pork belly, it was supppper tasty. Some of the broccoli casserole paired with it well! Have a “Texas sized sweet tea” to top it all off. Frankly though, if you like the biscuits, then the dessert versions are worth your time. The strawberry short “cake” is a warm, sugared biscuit with house cream and berries. Fantastic wrap up to a really good BBQ stop up east. We’d recommend this spot and we’d certainly come again.
Taylor G — Google review
The biscuits are soooo good! I got the pulled pork tray with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Also got the golden bbq sauce which was very tasty. Pulled pork was also very good. Wasn’t too crazy about the coleslaw and the Mac and cheese but they were still good👍
Madison G — Google review
The world famous biscuits (scones) are a bit of a grift, wouldn’t recommend ordering those. I grew up in the UK and those scones are no better then any bog standard scone you’d find in a run of the mill cafe, with various service charges they worked out at over $4 a scone. I got BBQ chopped prime brisket which was good. All natural pulled chicken tasted very..earthy. Like what root vegetables would taste like before washed. I wouldn’t visit again, was quite overpriced and a 25% total service charge for tables over six seems like a bit of a rip. Expect to spend $50+ per head all in for a mediocre meal which probably only does well because of the proximity to the stadium.

Been coming to Sweet Cheeks for many years. Their food is good, in general, and very consistent. We had a couple of very poor take-out experiences here so will only dine-in for lunch. We usually get the trays with a couple of scoops. Their pulled pork, fried chicken and biscuits are all very good. The pickles, baked beans and farm salad are great sides. Their desserts are too sweet and decadent so we avoid those. Their take-out portions are so much smaller for some reason, which is why we only dine-in now. The place is dim and too loud with music for dinner. You have to scream to be heard, so we only come here for lunch, when you can actually have a conversation. Overall, we do enjoy their food and can always count on a solid meal every time.
Amber C — Google review
Had a great weekend and tried out “Sweet Cheeks” BBQ for the first time. As southern transplant I’m always looking for good BBQ Ordered Salt and Pepper Potatoes, Smoked Wings, Hot Links, Fried Chicken, smoked Pork Belly, St. Louis Ribs, Prime Brisket, Burnt Ends, Mac n Cheese, Broccoli and Cheddar casserole, Buttermilk Biscuits and Honey butter with Oreo Banana Pudding. Whew… Shout out Uber Eats this explaining my score for the atmosphere I have yet to experience in person. It’s fair to say and meal is typically better served hot during a Dine In experience. All in All the food was good. As Texan I will say this BBQ is “Safely Seasoned” for public consumption but the smoke was flavorful but Moderate. There Honey Butter and Biscuits rival another establishment I used to Roadhouse for their bread and butter. Pro Tip - add a side of their seasonal Jam to take the biscuit experience to a new level. Would defunct reorder.
March B — Google review
Very tasty BBQ! Had the Big platter( 2 meat combo ) with two sides. 4 small Ribs and 1 Jalapeno hot link sausage with potato salad and broccoli casserole $29.00. The real stand out was the potato salad. Some of the best I have ever had and I have some potato salad. Im a fan of Top Chef and this is what brought me here.
Vince S — Google review
The staff were nice and friendly. Customer service was excellent. Food wss good and vibes were excellent. Highly recommend and would go back
Chris J — Google review
I'd say skip the barbecue and get the delectable fried chicken and biscuits! The bbq is, unfortunately, as with most American-style bbq places in Boston/New England, not really worth it. The sides are good, the mac 'n cheese is nice, the broccoli cheese gratin is delicious, and the biscuits are amazing. The other sides are aight. Finally the wait staff is wonderful. Bottom line, if you want to take my word for it, just get the fried chicken and biscuits.

Buttermilk & Bourbon is a New Orleans-inspired restaurant by local star chef Jason Santos, known for his playful and crowd-pleasing dishes. The menu features quirky and indulgent Southern delights such as poached shrimp, alligator fries, roasted oysters, Memphis-style baby back ribs, and the famous buttermilk fried chicken.
What a fun brunch spot! We have been to Boston several times, but never had the chance to eat here. Glad we did! The atmosphere is like no other. We were seated in the back room, blue light so it made for interesting photos. The service was phenomenal! Loved our server, she was so fun and friendly and extremely attentive. You have to get the Signature warm honey glazed biscuits! They are by far the BEST biscuits I have ever had! Perfectly crispy outside and soft center. Served with smoked cinnamon butter and pimento cheese spread. We also had The House Special buttermilk fried chicken thighs with cheddar bourbon waffles, sweet and spicy syrup, honey butter and watermelon. Yum! The coffee was great and I drank several cups with cream. It’s a lot of food, way too much for just the two of us, so bring your friends.
Jody S — Google review
Having been to this place a few times over the years, it has somehow gotten even better. Their renowned biscuits are soft, sweet, buttery all on their own but when paired with either the smoked cinnamon butter to up the sweetness or the pimento cheese to provide more savoriness you cannot go wrong! The BBQ shrimp was a standout that went fantastic with the soft and moist bread it came with. The shrimp was savory and filled with flavors that went excellently with the sauce it came with and the bits of meat in it. The fried chicken we had ordered with a white BBQ sauce that went so well (I’d love to try their other sauces as well), but what I love is that the chicken itself was miraculous by itself. A crunchy savory outer fried coating bursting with flavor once you bite into the moist chicken that is just the right temperature, not too cold and not too hot that you burn your tongue. They did not skimp out on their drinks either. Strong and delicious combined all in one that makes it worth the cost. What I love about the restaurant is depending on where you sit, it can change the ambience and they have it all, both indoor and outdoor. Wait staff was kind, knowledge and speedy as well. Highly recommend this spot if you haven’t been before.

Decent southern comfort food. I liked the fried chicken waffle place for brunch. The beignets are amazing, flaky. The atmosphere wasn't great though. The service was also slow, it seems like they were understaffed. We waited for a long time to get out check (after asking for it for 3 times).
Jady T — Google review
Part of my friend group headed back before the rest of us, so we decided to stop in somewhere for dinner before we caught the train back. All of us were very glad we found the Buttermilk & Bourbon: a New Orleans style restaurant in Boston?? Yes, please. Even though it was packed, we managed to get spots at the bar, which worked out great since the two gentlemen behind it were exceptionally friendly and very attentive despite the dinner rush. The food was so good 🤤 the ribs I ordered were some of the best I’ve had in years. Special shoutout to the warm honey glazed biscuits: if you go, get enough for everyone! Special shoutout to the service, especially the host: my girlfriend’s phone died, and so she couldn’t manage her insulin pump. The host didn’t even blink when we asked if he could help, he just took the phone, found the right cable and kept an eye on it for us until it was sufficiently charged. If I lived in Boston, this place would easily be one of my go-to spots for drinks, lunch or dinner. To the crew who worked the dinner shift on August 30th, 2025: you were the best!
Joe B — Google review
Googled for a good place to eat on our last evening in Boston and found this one. Being from Louisiana, I'm always leary about trying places with Southern cuisine. To my surprise, the food was pretty good. We had the buttermilk fried boneless thighs, collard greens and their famous biscuits. Did was hot and fresh! Wait staff was great too. It's a little on the pricey side, but I chalked it up to the location.
Tommy C — Google review
We decided to try this place on a whim on our last day in Boston and it did not disappoint. From the drinks to the food, it was all delicious. I love that it is tapas style so that we could try a little of everything. I would definitely recommend the honey biscuits!

Really loved this place! Awesome food and service! A very nice Shirley temple. Quick service and very cozy atmosphere! Would recommend 100% if you crave some good fried chicken! Mac N Cheese needs to be studied - it was one of the best ones I have ever had!!!
Artem B — Google review
One of very few restaurants where the ambience, service, and food are all top tier and incredible. We tried the BBQ shrimp, Mac n cheese, chicken sliders, and whipped ricotta. I truly have no other words than…wow. This place is a must must must for anyone looking for southern comfort food to heal their inner child. Every dish and every bite was tastier than the last. The staff is kind. And the VIBES were immaculate! Absolutely worth every penny and honestly the menu, in my opinion, is well priced. Top notch food without overwhelming prices. Highly recommend!

Chicken restaurant
Hot Chix Boston is a vibrant new eatery located in Inman Square, drawing inspiration from the iconic Nashville hot chicken sandwich. After years of success as a beloved local pop-up, they have honed their craft to perfection.
Amazing fresh fried chicken! Would absolutely come again but next I will remember that they really bring the spice here. Had plain on the tenders and it was just perfect. Mild was a bit to much for me though I really can't do spice... the only criticism I'd have is the price but it is Boston after all. I really liked the sign in the window, but I think some might find it offensive.
Nate C — Google review
Hot Chix Boston is a Chicken Sandwich and quick service meal place located in the heart of Cambridge. We found this while driving by, and decided to stop in and grab a bite. The place has some nice atmosphere, with many tables throughout. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and made the meal quick and didn't make us wait too long. There could be more decor, but the decor they did have was pretty unique and fits the vibe of the restaurant. As for the food, it was good. The Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy and had good flavor, and the chicken patty was crispy and went well with the ingredients. We also tried the Old Bay French Fries, which were good, though I thought it could've had more seasoning. Overall, still a great spot to visit in the area.
Nick S — Google review
Awesome spicy chicken sandwich and seasoned waffle fries, and will definitely be back! Also interested in the hot chicken honey biscuit and banana pudding on the menu. Had HotChix on my 'to visit' for a while, and glad I finally tried it. Adding chicken biscuit :) photo from followup visit.
James H — Google review
Surprisingly friendly service for a fast-casual spot. Alex smiled every time he spoke with me and even thought to offer me water as I waited for my food. The hot chicken sandwich scratched the itch: juicy, crispy/crunchy, and even their mild has a bit of kick to it! Overall impressed by an experience that easily could have been mediocre but instead has me ready to come back.
Michael M — Google review
Hot Chix gave me one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, but the real standout was the sauce. It was flavorful and totally delicious. It added just the right amount of moisture to the sandwich. The pickles and soft bun brought it all together. It was so good after my first one, i had to go back for a second sandwich and extra sauce. If you’re a spicy chicken connoisseur like myself, this place is a must.
Julio S — Google review
Jun2025: This place hit the spot. We met one of the owners Alex and his presence primed our score. Fries 10/10 mac n cheese: 8/10 sammich: 8.5/10. Fries were crispy to perfection only con is the ketchup had high fructose corn syrup . Mac n cheese was too gooey for me. Sammich was delicious we had hot spicy level and will be coming back!
Mich B — Google review
Ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich and lemon pepper wings with blue cheese dipping sauce for take out. I didn’t have to wait long for it. The service staff were really friendly! The blue cheese sauce was to die for. Very generous chunks of blue cheese inside. The wings were so crispy and the sandwich was not dry at all. 100% better than chick-fil-a.
Sheralin L — Google review
I’m very surprised at how good both the sandwiches I got were. I first tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich which was really good spicy & flavorful, after that I got the the fried shrimps sandwich which I must say was my favorite. Really nice & crispy & very delicious just overall great when your around the area in the mood.

Moonshine 152 is a laid-back eatery in South Boston that offers a creative menu of street foods with regional and Asian flavors. The chef, Asia Mei, has crafted a menu that combines familiar comfort food with contemporary twists. Divided into four phases, the new menu features appetizers, shareable plates, entrees, and desserts. Standout dishes include bacon-wrapped bites of sourdough stuffing and flavorful tacos.
Loved the atmosphere, the staff, and the service and the food was amazing. The chef herself brought the food out and that level of personal interaction with the person who’s cooking your food is a unique experience. Will definitely be coming back. The lamb meatballs were so good and was my favorite. Went back for brunch and enjoyed everything.

A great restaurant to enjoy delicious food. The space is nicely designed and decorated and the layout is good. The service was very friendly and accommodating even with our the large group and the chef checked couple of times if everything was good. The food was delicious, most of the meals we tried were very good. The Leslie Knop fried chicken and waffle was tasty (I was sold by the name of the meal since I am a fan of that show). We tried as well several desserts and they were good. A recommended place for an enjoyable dinner!

I’d heard a lot about Moonshine, and finally had the chance to check it out. We came in a little late (around 10:25pm, with the kitchen closing at 10.30pm), so things felt just a bit rushed, but the staff handled it with fast and friendly service. The food really blew me away—especially the jalapeño crab Rangoons and the bacon-wrapped stuffing bites. Absolute standouts! Drinks were tasty too; the garnishes could’ve been a touch more polished, but I get that the vibe here leans more toward comfort and creativity than fine dining pretension. What really makes this spot special is the personal touch—the owner, who’s also the chef, came out with the food herself. She’s not only talented in the kitchen but also a great artist, which adds so much character to the place. Definitely want to come back soon for brunch—if dinner was this good, I can only imagine how amazing their brunch spread must be.

What a gem! We visited Moonshine 152 in Boston during a family trip from California and had an incredible time. Chef Asia Mei, daughter of my TaiChi teacher, Master May Chen is truly gifted. The menu is a vibrant fusion of Asian flavors, and everything we tried was delicious. The Korean BBQ tacos were especially spectacular! The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming, the drinks were fantastic, and the staff made us feel right at home. Whether you’re a local or visiting Boston, this is a must-try spot for a fun and flavorful evening out.

Father's Day dinner at Moonshine 152 was an adventure in flavor. We were lucky enough to have fabulous service from Sandra. We chose to eat family style starting with cocktails and then into appetizers. We shared a few entrees and wrapped up with some amazing deserts. Asia brought us some of our dishes and chatted with us. It was an exceptional experience.

Out of this world delicious. This place is on an other completely different level than any other place that serves food. Cos this place does not serve food. It delivers the most unique, delicious, custom, savory, sweet delicacies from the beautiful mind of chef Mia. This is a bucket list spot for and serious foodies. You will cherish the experience here.

I stumbled across Moonshine 152 on my first night in Boston for a business trip, and I’m convinced I found one of the city’s culinary gems. The cocktails? Spot-on. The food? The kind that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate it. And the service? Let’s just say the owner/chef herself came over to our table, chatted with us for five minutes like we were old friends, and even surprised us with a free butterscotch pudding (which, by the way, should be illegal for being that good). I loved it so much, I came back the very next night and it was another flawless experience. Two-for-two on incredible meals, creative drinks, and warm hospitality. Moonshine 152 isn’t just a restaurant, it’s the kind of place you immediately start recommending to everyone you know. Also, our waiter, Ben, was funny, attentive, and fun to talk to. Five stars, no hesitation. If you’re in Boston, do yourself a favor and go. Then go again.

Sandwich shop

Deli
Cuttys is a bustling breakfast and lunch spot known for its use of locally sourced, in-house ingredients. The sandwiches are substantial, featuring high-quality breads layered with generous spreads of condiments and thinly sliced meats or greens. The Beef 1000 sandwich, made with Thousand Island dressing, sharp cheddar, and crispy shallots, is particularly popular. The owners are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America and have worked for Americas Test Kitchen.
Cutty's is a great neighborhood sandwich place. Their sandwiches are made with really good quality ingredients and care. You can tell by the way that they package everything. Our favorite sandwich is their pork rabe that's offered usually on weekends. Due to the pandemic, it's not on the menu often now. So, when available, we always get it. It has a great combination of salty roasted pork, broccolini and a bit of cheese on a crispy roll. The fried chicken sandwich is very popular and is a large portion. The tomato soup is very tasty. The ham pimento sub has great flavor but too much bread to ham ratio. We have noticed that the turkey and roast beef sandwiches have gotten smaller over the past couple of years. So, one sandwich is not enough to be full. Still, it's a great sandwich shop with good food.

Came for their Super Cluckin Sunday honey mustard chicken sandwich. It was really tasty and tender. The edges of the bun were buttery and perfect. The sauce was a bit too sweet for me and a wish it was a tad crispier.
Alexander — Google review
There is a process for ordering foods online before you come to pick it up. They have a specific window time for ordering as they sell Super Clucking Sunday burgers that sell only one time a month. Fresh food and great customer service, but it is not a wow for burgers.
Trang L — Google review
Excellent sandwiches! A grab and go place, Cuttys has really perfected their small menu as well as their rotating specials! The TLC had an amazing bread, with perfect ratios to turkey and cheese, and the spicy sauce perfectly wraps it up! It’s definitely a beautiful mess, which was ready so quickly too, overall a definite recommendation!

Quite possibly the best Turkey sandwich I have ever had. The Turkey 1000 with lettuce mayo and hots. So good! The Fox Farm chips are really good as well. Everything I have tried there is very fresh and delicious. Not the cheapest option but always leave a happy customer
Andrew H — Google review
Super Cluckin' Sunday occurs once a month and requires you to pre-order a week in advance. The fried chicken sandwich of the month alternates between BBQ Ranch and OG Honey Mustard, and you can see the schedule on Cutty's website. I tried the OG Honey Mustard. I wasn't able to eat it until an hour later, but the chicken was still crispy and tasted fine re-toasted. The sesame brioche bun was soft and airy. The chicken was lightly peppered/seasoned and moist. The slaw and honey mustard sauce added a complementary sweetness. There was also Cabot sharp cheddar cheese, but I couldn’t really taste it. I don't think the amazingness of this sandwich amounts to the hype of being a once-a-month special, and $13.99 is a bit expensive. However, it was a delicious sandwich overall, and I would get it again.

Went to get breakfast with friends at a place nearby but they were very busy. Needed something quick so we decided to try Cutty’s down the road. I got the Beef 1000 with pickled hots and it’s the best sandwich I’ve had in a while! Loaded with beef and the picked hots was very good! Not too greasy and worth the price. Very friendly staff and quick to make food for to go. Highly recommend Cutty’s!

So very delicious! There were so many good options to choose from. Went there with the family and got three different sandwiches. All three were so very delicious. The beef and cheese special we had was delicious, especially with bacon and chopped peppers. 😋😋😋

Brassica Kitchen + Cafe is a vibrant and trendy spot in Jamaica Plain, Boston. By day, it offers gourmet coffee and pastries, while at night it transforms into a Euro-style restaurant serving cocktails.
Our group of 4 vegetarians went here and were utterly blown away by the taste. We got biscuits-and-tofu, veg sausage big mac, brunch fried rice, and tamale. Every piece of tofu had an impressively delicate but flavorful breading and the tofu inside was also brined and tasty by itself. This is some of the best food I’ve ever had in Boston of over 50 restaurants I’ve been to, and it was all vegetarian. The gravy on the biscuits was a special highlight, it might be gross but we literally licked the plate clean.

This was such a fun dining experience! It's a very eclectic array of foods with so many flavors to try. Our server, Josh, said the best way to describe the food they serve was "saucy" and that honestly is true. So many good sauces, with flavors from all over the world! We did The Ride, a fixed menu with 8 plates plus dessert. They were flexible with some dietary needs and our server was fun, knowledgeable, and had fantastic service. We loved trying so many different things and enjoyed some lovely cocktails alongside it all. Such a great spot to try new flavors and have a special date night!

I recently had a meal at Brassica, and overall, it was a great experience. The risotto was creamy and flavorful, and the pizza had a wonderfully thin crust, very much like a classic New York-style pizza. The rigatoni pasta was tasty, though not particularly standout, but still a solid choice. The fried rice was packed with flavor and really hit the spot. The BK fried chicken (we ordered the larger portion) was incredibly tender and had just the right amount of sweetness served with a small portion of homemade mustard sauce on the side and lemon wedges, it was definitely a winner. However, the real star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. They were absolutely fantastic, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. Definitely the dish that left the biggest impression, and I’ll be coming back just for those!

Brassica has one of the best brunches in town. The cocktails are wonderful and the food is top-notch. I love their commitment to changing up the flavors just enough to keep you wanting more, but also keeping their tried and true gems on the menu (shout out to the chicken and waffles)! And, I always look forward to taking home one of their homeade doughnuts for later. They never miss!

We went for brunch and overall had a good time. We got the pretzel biscuit, brown butter pancakes, omelette, and breakfast fried rice. Everything looked great and the food did taste good, but towards the end of our meal we did start to feel it was a bit greasy and heavy. The vegetarian options were extensive, which I really appreciated. I would come back if I wanted to take some friends, but I think it’s slightly out of my budget to become a regular option.
Eagle B — Google review
I'm sorry to write that our experience was mediocre and disappointing. We went there with another couple of friends for dinner on a Friday evening in mid August. The place was full of people, apparently having a good time. The staff was busy and diligent, kind and friendly. The location is not so nice and the exteriors are somewhat rough, between a central bus station on a busy street with traffic and honking cars, and a parking lot of a funeral home, with big trash dumpsters. We sat in the back yard tent, four people around a small table with small plates. We liked the concept of sharing various plates and dishes, but the portions were small and the food was very salty and greasy (gave me heartburn). The black cod was unpleasantly smelly (fishy), and the green salad was very bitter and salty. The only way to fill my tummy was to order some bread, which was served with way too much butter, really wasteful. I saw a picture of fries in a review online and asked the waitress why it wasn't on the menu, she smiled and said it's a secret...  she also suggested the special of the day, but did not tell us the price, and that was not on the menu either. As a matter of principle and practicality, all items should be on the menu, and customers should know the prices before placing orders. The prices are pretty high and they charge around 23% fee to cover gratuity for the waiters, kitchen and bar staff. We respect and support all those good people, but do not like to be charged such high fees. Either raise the prices and show them clearly on the menu, or take whatever tips people leave and split the money between all the employees. Customers should have the freedom to decide how much they want to tip, considering the quality of food and service they received. We enjoyed spending a couple hours with our friends, but did not enjoy the food or sitting on the asphalt in the undecorated tent, with loud background noise. For us, it was not worth $40 per person (with no meat or seafood, with no dessert or coffee); there are much nicer places at that price level.

Phenomenal meal tonight - thank you!!! We went for “The Ride” - and enjoyed every dish. Tons of flavors, and this was an incredible value to get to try “a bit of everything”, plus the creamiest Tiramisu ever. The standouts for me were: Endive Salad, the Fish Collars, And the Pork Belly. Yum yum yum!! Thank you for s lovely evening, in a fun space. Our servers were all incredibly friendly and good pacing.
Laura D — Google review
Bittersweet I don’t think the designer kept in mind what Brassica was before they moved. It used to be a hip, quirky spot with an artsy vibe. The new place has its own vibe, but it doesn’t feel like Brassica anymore, and it doesn’t feel like the same restaurant either. Lighting is bright and a bit chaotic. The space reads as modern, with contractor-white walls, and bookshelves , office like floor. In the bar, you can see the sound system, lighting, and some odd shelves. The fake bar top and the blue floor tiles look like something you’d find in an maybe an office food court or something.. it can read like one of those coworker places or a franchised bar rather than a unique dining experience. The food is still good, but it doesn’t feel as distinctive or exciting as It use to be.. portions seem a bit bigger too - which isn’t a good thing imo - the redesign lost the essence of what made Brassica special, leaning toward something more generic. I would have loved to have seen them leverage the older bones of the building and use warmer, more tactile finishes (tile, wood, stone) low lights, plants, brick to add character. Quick fixes: - Rework the lighting: dim down the general lighting, add a couple warm low vintage lamps, get your vibe back - Hide or integrate visible tech: conceal the sound system and shelving behind the bar - Curate the soundtrack: a more cohesive, hip vibe with music - turn it up a bit - supports conversation without overpowering it.

The menu features unique egg sandwiches for breakfast, rotisserie chicken with various sauces for lunch, and an extensive dinner selection including clam toast and roasted fish. This spot is perfect for a quick breakfast, important business lunch, or relaxed dinner.
I came to Shy Bird for breakfast and ordered the Fried Chicken and Egg Sandwich with a Coconut Strawberry Lemonade through their website—and let me tell you, they did NOT miss! From start to finish, the experience was top-tier. Ordering online was smooth, the customer service was warm and welcoming, and the food? Absolutely delicious. The sandwich was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the lemonade was the perfect refreshing touch. Can’t wait to come back and try more. Highly recommend!

3.5 stars. Got the double smash burger, standard fare burger. Fries are really strong on rosemary or whatever. I was able to finish all. Decently filling for dinner Food came fast. Came in with friends so we all got different things. They do a nice job with presentation but food itself is not that exciting taste wise. You get water in a glass bottle and some glasses to serve yourself.

Based on the reviews I was hesitant to go here, but my friends picked it and I still side with many of the reviews🤪 If you like your fresh food slightly unhealthy and your chicken fried, then this is the place for you; but it doesn’t float my boat😒 I was limited in what I wanted to eat here: non-dairy and non-fried 🫣

Honestly, my salad was fine and our meals were solid but something not cool about being charged a 4% kitchen fee - $76 for four bowls and one small tea then being told, “No sorry we don’t give tea refills.” Seriously?

Korean restaurant
Coreanos Allston is a casual dining spot that serves up traditional Korean dishes in a simple setting. The restaurant offers takeout and delivery options, making it convenient for customers. One of its standout offerings is the Korean-style fried chicken, which features brined and double-fried wings tossed in a choice of house-made sauces like sweet and spicy yum yang, sweet-garlic-soy, or tangy pa dak.
Coreanos has become my favorite spots in Allston. The Coreanos Bowl is packed with flavor and fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked rice, and the meat is tender and well-seasoned. The Korean fried chicken wings are super crispy, juicy inside. And their tacos, they’re unique, with a tasty Asian twist that’s totally worth trying. Big portions, food comes out hot, and the staff are super friendly. Honestly, after eating here, I can get no fresh no more, this is my go to now. If you’re in the area, get the Bowl, the wings, and one taco, won’t regret it. Coreanos never disappoints.

I may be one of the few who didn't enjoy the taste of the food. 🥘 My family had dinner here recently and unfortunately, the best-selling corianos bowls didn't impress us. The dish had too much mayo and an unpleasant texture. However, the soup 🥣 was delicious. I also ordered BBQ, 🍖 but it was shredded pork with a lot of onions,🧅 which wasn't what I expected. The fried chicken 🍗 was fine but overall disappointing given the good reviews. Perhaps this is how their food is prepared, but unfortunately, we won't be returning.

A great spot for a quick bite, this cozy Mexican-Korean fusion eatery offers a fun mix of flavors. The menu features some of the tastiest Korean street food classics like tteokbokki, kimbap, and crispy fried chicken with your choice of flavorful sauces. They also serve tacos and they’re seriously good. Our favorite was the kalbi taco. We shared a few tacos along with the chicken poppers, which were a hit. The chicken poppers come on a bed of fries, drizzled with a variety of sweet and spicy sauces. Seating is limited, but it’s perfect for takeout or a casual bite on the go.

The Coreanos Bowl was so satisfying – the beef, sauce, and fried egg on top made the perfect combo. The Chicken Popper was amazing too, super crispy and flavorful with tasty homemade mayo. Fresh scallions made it even better. Definitely coming back!

You would never expect this to be such a cool restaurant from the street, but once you walk in the door you will love the charm and warmth. Everything about food was perfect. We had bibimbap ,fried chicken, Kimbap and kimchi fried rice and peach limeade. The service was super sweet…. Cannot beat a good waitress who brings a great attitude and had awesome recommendations. We will be back soon!

I DO NOT recommend this restaurant because of food quality and taste. I've been to several different korean restaurants at Boston during my vacation. Unfortunately, this restaurant was my least favorite in terms of food quality and taste. Tteok-bokki that we ordered didn't have a sweet flavor. Tteok-bokki sauce was thin and watery-it looked to me that it was simply diluted with spicy pepper paste. In addition, almost half of them were cabbage and there were no other vegetables or fish cakes. Also, spicy pork in taco that we ordered didn't taste spicy- the pork was not marinated well and haf a weird taste. Expecting from good ratings on Google review this restaurant was a disappointment to me.
Kwan J — Google review
So disappointing. Had High Hopes based on reviews. Definitely not legit. Nor is anything close to authentic. Got the most popular fried rice dish and the carrots and onions were completely raw barely even cooked. The meat was overcooked and lacking any legitimate flavor. The only thing that was decent was the sweet soy Fried Chicken but you can get way better at almost any other Korean chicken restaurant. They need to get some legit Cooks in their kitchen the staff they have Now does not know how to cook.

This place is not good. The service was on par and the restaurant itself was pretty nice. The food, in my opinion, was not worth it. The sauce and flavoring of the Jamaican jerk wings were amazing, but the wings were extremely small, like the size of my pinky. The sandwiches were horrible. The sauce and flavoring was good, but the chicken was not it. The chicken felt a bit hard but not in a good crunchy way, in more of a concerning way. Fries were good though. To be honest, I wouldn’t really recommend this place if you want some good chicken, I’ve been to so many other places that can do better.

Finally trying this place out after driving by it a thousand times and being told to try it. Overall it was a good experience, the entree had some good flavor and buttered buns are a good addition to any fried chicken sandwich. The only real thing I didn’t like was the size of the chicken. Most places that sell fried chicken sandwiches as a primary dish have a oversized piece of chicken and that was not the case here. It was unfortunately the size of your standard fast food joints fried chicken (obviously this was better and more flavorful) but for size comparison. Looking forward to trying out some more items here. Their potato salad was definitely my favorite and the cornbread were unique and had good flavor.

We had the fried mac and cheese and Mr. Henson and the Lower Broadway chicken sandwiches along with a side of fries. The service was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly. The fried mac and cheese was pretty good and was probably my favorite item we had. The fried chicken was pretty good but I felt like the other things on the Lower Broadway sandwich overpowered it a bit. Fries were yummy too.

Love the accommodation of the team here! Originally we were supposed to pick up our order but due to my own confusion I had to change. The staff, led by our waitress Danielle, was extremely accommodating in keeping our order, not double charging my card, and getting us a table at the last minute to provide food. The food was delicious! The lillyp and South Broadway were particularly good. The biscuits and fries 🍟 were also amazing. All capped off with a price that's way cheaper than other places in the Kendall Square neighborhood. Thanks for such a great experience and hope to come by again soon!

The Coast Cafe, a small family-owned joint located just outside Central Square in Cambridge, has been serving up delicious soul food for 18 years. The menu features classic Southern dishes like perfectly seasoned fried chicken, smoked barbecue pork ribs, mac n cheese, and sweet potato pie. The cozy eatery is known for its delectable home-cooked meals made with love and care.
I wanted CRISPY fried chicken and bot tenders. This place delivers. I loved seeing the giant pot of collard greens ! And the Mac and cheese is so thick I needed strength to pry it open ! So cheap so fresh so good

This is a solid soul food restaurant! Their fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and vanilla cake are very good. The collard greens and cornbread are ok. Small restaurant dining room so probably best to take out.

I was looking forward to trying this place based on the reviews, but the food didn’t live up to my expectations. The chicken was over fried and lacked flavor, and it tasted like the oil may have been old. The mac and cheese was also on the dry side, collard greens were good, and best part of the plate was their cornbread. . Overall I give my plate 7/10..

Solid spot for Soul food/Fried chicken cravings. First heard about this spot a year ago from my friends dubbing it the best soul food restaurant in the GBA. With limited opening hours, it took me some time to finally make it here, but this week, I managed to visit for lunch The restaurant was quite small, with just seven seats squeezed into its modest space. Most people seemed to know the drill, grabbing their orders to go, but with a menu learning heavily on fried options, we decided to dine in while everything was still hot and crispy. We opted for the Fried Chicken Thighs and Fried Catfish combo plates, and both delivered on flavor. The chicken thighs were our favorite—perfectly seasoned, not overly greasy, and juicy. The catfish was also nice with its tender and flaky meat. However, the portions felt a bit small for the price, and while we dove in as soon as the plates hit the table, everything was lukewarm. Among the sides, the Mac N Cheese was our favorite. The other offerings—Candied Yams, Collard Greens, and Rice & Beans—were solid but fairly basic. From the hot oven display, we tried the Beef Patty. The flavors were there, but it was a tad dry. It really could have benefited from a good dipping sauce. Not entirely sold on my friends’ claim that this is the best soul food spot in the area. Yet, with limited options for Southern soul food in Cambridge/GBA, I would probably come back if I’m craving for good fried chicken and Southern comfort food.
Jea K — Google review
The area is completely "dead" and the Collards Greens were cooked ,with Turkey and weren't that good. Never again. It cost me close to $10.00 .
Arnetta S — Google review
If you are wanting soul food and in the area you would be hard pressed to find better. We got the coast wings and the fried breast meals with a slice of sweet potato pie. The meals come with 2 sides so we got the green beans, rice and beans, candied yams and the mac and cheese. The wings do not have breading and that changes the texture but not the flavor. The seasoning of the chicken is a good classic chicken without trying to be the Nashville hot style. All of the sides were good. But the best side is the corn bread that comes with the meals. The sweet potato pie is the version that is very close to pumpkin pie.

Only few would understand these following words: Food that comes from the soul is becoming a rarity. Why? It requires a certain individual to do things that normal society nowadays are not willing to partake in. The sacrifices that come with avoiding shortcuts, with choosing to maintain tradition, with maintaining quality over profit…those things are truly something that has become impossible to find. I’ll keep this review short. Just take it from someone who actually knows what goes on behind the scenes *here* and appreciates it. Family business for 20+ years, doing the same thing following family recipes from grandma and doing her proud sharing the gem of food that they still serve up to this day. Mind you, it’s easy to be complacent…but they choose not to be. If you want fried chicken that is cooked well Mississippi style (or fulfill whatever “south” you hail from) from scratch, this be your spot. It’s Boston. You can have real fried chicken or you can have “whatever” fried chicken. I rather have “real” fried chicken to appease one who actually has significantly travelled the south. Those who know. I’ll see you there.

I got the fried catfish plate with yams and Mac and cheese. I love soul food, but this was so disappointing. Everything tasted old and microwaved. The Mac and cheese was dry and the fried catfish was soft and nothing tasted freshly made. Everything was at least seasoned and the cornbread was good but those are the only positives.

Side Chick Boston is a bold addition to the fried chicken sandwich scene, located across from a well-known KFC. The restaurant prides itself on offering halal-quality crispy chicken in their signature Main Chick sandwich, featuring a thick, juicy cutlet with crunchy lettuce and flavorful House White Sauce. Customers rave about the delicious sandwiches and sides like spicy fries, as well as the clever names for menu items.
This is one of our favorite places in Boston. The chicken fingers are just incredible. They're made to order and you can really taste the difference. So much better than Shy Bird (which is very overhyped). The French fries are also perfectly crispy. Mohammed is always a delight and he keeps us coming back! We know we're in for a treat when we walk in and see him. Pro tip: ask for your chicken fingers to have the Cajun spice on them. It's not on the menu, but it'll change your life for $2!

I don’t really give bad reviews. So when I walked i explained to the cashier “ hey you guys gave me some old dry chicken 🍗😐 last time I came here so I want it fresh. He said ok cool.. So I left and came back in a couple minutes and it was done a little too fast for my liking. When I looked through the box they had mixed the old chicken with a just a few fresh pieces. I was obviously upset. He apologized and said they would make an all fresh batch so I had to wait another 15 minutes. It’s suck because when it’s fresh it’s really good. So why would you not want to serve the best all the time??

So the Cheese steak was delicious!! 🤩The Main chic was juicy and the tenders were just right. But the slaw🤐🥴😱.never again. So here is a picture of the one my husband has been eating from the grocery store by Reser's on the left/top and the one from side chic is on the right with a bunch of cabbage and slivers of purple onion and dry. So disappointed especially after the host amped it up .lol well I will definitely be getting my cheese steak from there just not the slaw.

Would be a great place but their dipping sauce portions are comedically small. Like two dips and your sauce is gone. Really??? This a chicken place I should be swimming in sauce if I ask for it especially if you are going to charge me $0.75 for it. Jarritos for scale:

Just tried their cheesey steak sandwich, and it was good. I decided to try something different on their menu, and wow, i wasn't disappointed. The size was good for the price, and the amount of meat and cheese in the sub was perfect in my opinion.

Don’t miss out on this hidden gem. Their chicken really is that good! Crispy /flakey fried chicken and lots of different sandwich options. All of their dipping sauces are delicious as well. The staff are helpful and kind too. Also one of the few places around that is open late night.

Went to check out the new place that opened up. The owner was super friendly and nice. Mentioned the chicken is NEVER FROZEN and ALWAYS FRESH. Battered right when we ordered so maybe order ahead if you don’t want to wait. Chicken sandwiches were crispy, juicy and tasted great. Bone-in Wings were heavenly battered, hot & crispy. Would highly recommend this place to a friend and come back

Nestled in Medford, Neighborhood Kitchen is a delightful bistro that celebrates culinary diversity with its unique waffle offerings. From the indulgent Red Velvet Waffle, rich with chocolate and a satisfying chewiness, to the innovative Asian Sesame and Scallion Waffle—an inspired twist on traditional scallion pancakes—there's something for every palate.
Neighborhood Kitchen food is so very good! The food is hands down delicious and consistent. My company only wants food deliveries from Neighborhood Kitchen and we use them for all of our events. You will not regret taking a visit or ordering from Neighborhood Kitchen!

Ordered in person for take out, the creole chicken with rice and beans plate ($13.00 pre-tax). It also came with two pieces of sweet plantains. Absolutely delicious! Loved the pikliz as it reminds me of kimchi. The chicken portion and pikliz serving could be a little more, but overall fantastic! Their "Asian" dishes are definitely Asian inspired, which is very sweet seeing cultural food fusions. We need more multi ethnicity celebrations like this in our communities.

Not a bad little spot. My wife and I ordered the chicken sandwiches. I had the spicy one and it was real good. Perfect amount of spice. Fries were great. My wife said her chicken didn't have much flavor but it was crispy and tender. Mac and cheese was good but needed salt. Staff was very nice and helpful. No public bathroom

I really enjoyed the food here, I got the crispy chicken sandwich with plantain’s & it was really good. It had flavor & it was nice & crispy as well as spicy. I also enjoyed the salt & peppery shrimp, the peppers went perfectly with the crunchy shrimp. Overall it was great & will def. Try the breakfast next time I’m around town.

Order at the counter with some seating, very casual. We got a flatbread and the fried fish sandwich both of which were delicious. To drink we got fresh squeezed limeaid with berry and it was excellent. We'll have to go back again and try more things!

A great concept Southeast Asian, Haitian, and American fusion restaurant. The food is delicious and made to order. The menu is also seasonal so you have to come back and try the new dishes. There are delicious vegan and vegetarian options along with the rest of the menu. You don't need to be in the neighborhood to try this delicious restaurant. I trekked over and it was so worth it.

This is not authentic Haitian food. Wings got No flavor, the griot under cooking with lots fat. The amount of food not worth the money.

I was staying for one night in Boston in the area and did a lot of searching online to fine a decent meal reviews and pictures looked good for this place so we ordered two spicy chicken sandwiches which came up to~40$ plus tax & tip. Considering how much I paid and what I was expecting all I have to say is it was very disappointing. Why? because it was not crispy plus not spicy at all… it’s not even close to be good as Chick-fil-A spicy sandwich. So if I’m paying extra for chicken sandwich it has to be at least better than a chain. But idk people have different opinion. All in all, I expected better but was disappointed.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Bisq Meat & Sandwiches. Chef Alex Saenz has recently introduced a family-style package featuring some of the restaurant's most beloved dishes, available for pre-scheduled pickup. The star of this weekly menu is undoubtedly his signature fried chicken, renowned for its crispy exterior and juicy interior, seasoned with a hint of spicy chili salt.
I ordered a fried chicken sandwich for an early lunch one day. I got a great-tasting and creamy meal that I really enjoyed. It's a great vendor in the Time Out Market.
Nick F — Google review
The food is great - chicken is fried crispy and juicy, using thighs (if you prefer breast chicken, be warned; we prefer the moistness of thighs). As a fled-from-Texas/the south-er, I thought the fried chicken was done properly and was tasty. The only downside is the wait - expect to wait 10-15 mins for your food, because it's fresh out of the fryer.
Chris D — Google review
I used to love getting the chicken plate from here; however, this last time the portion sizes were so small. Literally received half the chicken that I used to get. The plate is advertised as “thighs” but 2 of the 3 pieces I got were definitely more the size of chicken strips (they were one inch by three inches). I asked the staff if there was a mistake and I said “these seem rather small for thighs.” I was assured by 2 staff members that it was the correct pieces of chicken. If those truly were the “thighs”, then it would have been cheaper for me to buy the items separately (strips, small salad, and side of fries). Summary: Pro: chicken is very good Cons: plate portion sizes have decreased substantially, service is very slow, ranch is very sour.
Amy C — Google review
Got the fried chicken sandwich and the fries. Sandwich was dripping oil and looked undercooked. Also the ranch was not ranch as it tasted sour and kinda like blue cheese. The fries were also spicy (which I liked but be warned). Weirdest vibe in general from the people too.

Zaftigs Delicatessen is a contemporary eatery located in Coolidge Corner, offering a wide array of traditional Jewish dishes in a cozy setting. The extensive menu features favorites such as cheese blintzes, potato knishes, bagel and lox platters, potato pancakes, and banana stuffed French toasts. The generous portions and reasonable prices make it a popular spot for breakfast, often resulting in long lines on weekends.
There is a good reason for the long waiting line of people out of the restaurant ( and in). The food is great, the host Robert is an asset . The place was packed and he patiently smiled and took care of everyone. We had white fish and omelet. Portions are good size, and very tasty.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the food, staff and location. So many choices on the menu and fresh baked items to take home too. We found it to be exciting to get something different for breakfast. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. I noticed this with the other waitress working there too. So refreshing. As weird as this sounds, the back of the restaurant smelled so clean. This means, (definitely to me), CLEAN. Like they just cleaned everything. This is a place that I really want to go to again when I'm in Boston and will be sharing our experience with everyone.

I LOVE Zaftigs! The food here is so good — everything tastes fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. The portions are huge, and you can tell they really care about the quality. The atmosphere is just as great as the food. The vintage-style décor gives it a cozy, old-school diner vibe that’s super cute and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that feels both nostalgic and lively at the same time. The staff are always friendly and upbeat, and service is quick even when it’s busy (and it usually is — for good reason!). Zaftigs is definitely one of those classic spots you can’t help but come back to. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves great food and a warm, local feel! 💛

A fantastic find with a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The food at Zaftig's tasted exactly like a home-cooked meal, and it was absolutely delicious. The matzo ball soup was extra special and hit the spot on a chilly night. I highly recommend the ZAFTIG COMBO, which was a perfect sampler of their best dishes. The cheese blintz was heavenly, the potato pancake and knish were cooked perfectly, and the sweet noodle kugel was a delight. We will absolutely be back to enjoy this delicious comfort food again.

We went here for lunch and it was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend the Reuben, the Monte Cristo, the Pastrami and Swiss, and the French Fries. Small plates restaurant
Mediterranean restaurant
Sarma Restaurant is a vibrant establishment in Somerville, part of Ana Sortun's culinary empire that includes Oleana and Sofra. The restaurant offers a modern Mediterranean menu with an emphasis on Middle Eastern flavors, serving up meze and small plates in a colorful setting. Inspired by traditional Turkish meyhanes, Sarma creates a communal dining experience with craft cocktails, local beer, and an extensive wine selection.
Truly incredible food. Flavor just explodes in your mouth for every dish. We got the corn bread, and gyro bread and I think I will think about both for the rest of my life. Wish I had pics of those to share. We also got the Tunisian tuna tacos, and the Cajun lamb and both were just indescribable. So good! Our server was great as well! I can’t remember their name but they were from Hollywood FL and were super nice and very knowledgeable about the menu!

- Everything is really good on the menu, but if it’s your first time I recommend any of the following: Black Sea cornbread, Lentil Nachos, Harissa BBQ duck, Scallops are excellent. Note the sesame fried chicken is brought around to tables when it’s made fresh, but cannot be ordered on demand. - Lots of really nice cocktails - Due to high demand, this place mostly requires a reservation, but there are 20 bar seats available for walk ins as well - Prices are very reasonable and quality is excellent; one of my favorite restaurants in Boston
BWS T — Google review
This place is insanely good. A few things to know before coming: - if you don’t have a reservation, and it’s the weekend, expect a line 10-15 minutes before open. - Sarma is tapas style, so be ready to order 2-4 plates per person. - if you have a picky palate, then maybe a sports bar is better for you. We went as a group of four, and all four of us agreed Sarma was one of the best culinary experiences we have had in recent memory. Each dish is expertly crafted with layers of flavor, and texture in mind. We like to grade dishes A+ through F- and out of 16 dishes only one got a B+ with the rest being A+ to A-. Highlights were the Black Sea Cornbread, Lentil Nachos, Chickpea Fritters, Fresh Sesame Fried Chicken, Mole Carrots, Lamb Kofte Sliders, and the Harissa BBQ duck. Service is prompt and great at handling large crowds of people in waves, decor and atmosphere also quite nice. Has incredible return value, will be back!

We had the best date night at Sarma! We didn’t have a reservation. We showed up on a Thursday night. Because we were flexible on sitting at the bar v. a table, we waited about 10 minutes (faster than the estimated wait). We were able to order a drink right away. It was the first time dining out in a while where we thought the food was so creative, delicious and flavorful. We especially enjoyed the cornbread, scallops, and crab dishes. The drinks were equally delicious. The service was great at the bar. The waiter asked if we had visited before and then introduced us to the concept and his favorites based our dietary needs/preferences. They asked about allergies. We had great conversation and vibes throughout the dinner. The environment colorful and bustling. Parking is limited so plan in advance.

This is an extraordinary restaurant! I feel this restaurant is the best in Boston! They use so many different herb! Tapas. All the dishes blended well . The employees are so friendly. Our waiter was Alexis tonight. He gave us a great experience.
Elizabeth S — Google review
I truly believe all the praise Sarma receives is super well deserved. Our expectations were dangerously high going in and Sarma exceeded on all fronts! The food, drinks, and service were all exceptional! Food: All the plates we ordered were all so unique and flavorful and it was such a treat exploring them. If only we had the stomachs and wallets to try everything on the menu. Our favorites were definitely the cornbread, the brussel sprouts, and the Cajun lamb kebabs. The first bite of every dish always got us perked up and excited to try more! Also the drinks we tried were a hit with everyone! Service: This was a perfect service experience! The staff checked in frequently and effectively, always quick to deliver on requests. The plates came and went so smoothly allowing you to focus on the food and the people you’re with. Atmosphere: The energy felt so celebratory! The decor and lightly immersed you in the dining experience giving you so many interesting and beautiful things to yet your eyes wonder on. Though there was constant chatter, we could easily hear everyone in our 5 person party because of the quieter background music and the spacing of the seating.

What a disappointing experience after hearing/reading raving reviews and having to make a reservation a month in advance. The food was not bad per se but definitely not as incredible as others say. For starters, we were served their fried chicken which was promoted as their special dish for the night; they had staff walking around offering it for $15. I should’ve read previous reviews to learn that this is a dish they commonly offer. I also thought the way they promoted it was strange, and felt bad saying no. The only dishes that were actually noteworthy are the zucchini tiganites and cornbread. I'm always happy to splurge when it comes to meals but way too overpriced when the quality wasn't all there. The staff were not friendly. When I first walked in, the hosts had a very cold approach. The interactions I had with my waiter were quite awkward as well.
Nina N — Google review
This was one of the hardest reservations to get, so our expectations were very high — but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The appetizers were noticeably better than the main courses, and sadly, many of the dishes were overly salty. We ordered quite a lot to try a good range of the menu: Avocado muhammara, fava bean pâté, Cuban-style pork, the famous cornbread, fritters, sugar snap peas, Brussels bravas, halloumi, fried zucchini, lemon beef, BBQ duck, lamb sliders, and for dessert, loukoumades with brown butter coffee and corn butter cake. The standout dishes were the cornbread, sugar snap peas, lamb sliders, and BBQ duck. The sugar snap peas might have been our favorite bite of the night — perfectly balanced and flavorful. The cornbread was outstanding as expected: salty from feta, spicy from jalapeños, and slightly sweet — all in one bite. Incredible balance. However, found a hair in last bite of the cornbread, which really ruined the experience. The staff handled it professionally and removed the item from the bill, but for a restaurant of this caliber, it’s simply not acceptable. The BBQ duck had good flavor, but half the pieces were quite tough while others were overly salty. The lamb sliders reminded me of a sandwich version of an Iskender kebab — well-seasoned meat with yogurt sauce that nicely balanced the richness. Unfortunately, several dishes were almost inedible due to saltiness — especially the fritters, lemon beef, fava bean pâté, Cuban pork, and halloumi. The avocado muhammara and fried zucchini were fine, but not particularly memorable. For dessert, the loukoumades with Turkish coffee sauce were excellent — the sauce paired beautifully with the fried dough. The corn butter cake, however, was underwhelming. Overall, the experience was lackluster. Service started off great but dropped off after we ordered — it was hard to find our server, and check-ins were rare. Also, the drinks were mediocre, and the “Turkish coffee espresso martini” was particularly disappointing, arriving without much crema or foam. After waiting years to finally try Sarma, it was a letdown, and unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be returning anytime soon.

The restaurant is known for its inventive cuisine heavily influenced by Southern comfort food. It's the perfect spot to enjoy heartwarming dishes prepared with a creative twist.
This was everything we were looking for and more! It’s been on my son‘s list to try, so glad we finally made it. We started with the Ricotta Mozzarella Fritters, warm gooey deliciousness. Our entrees were the Veggie Jambalaya and the Blackened Catfish Po’Boy. Both were absolutely scrumptious. Great cocktail and beer selection. Everything about our evening was wonderful from start to finish. Excellent food, service and a very welcoming neighborhood vibe. Highland kitchen will definitely be added into our rotation of favorites.

It's a cozy place. We went on Friday and it was pretty loud. We got roasted chicken and goat stew. Both were pretty good. No real complaints. It's like Southern comfort food. We also got the bread pudding. The bread pudding was delicious. Giving it four stars for service because they didn't refill our water :(.

We took a walk to the Highland Kitchen from our hotel. It was definitely worth it. We were greeted promptly, and pur service was friendly. They provided us a place to park our stroller out of the way, and it never felt like an inconvenience. They provided a high chair and offered a coloring sheet with crayons. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which was very well done. I was also happy to have malt vinegar with my fries. The food was hot and fresh. My husband ordered the monkfish special. While it wasn't his favorite, we could tell it was fresh. The pretzel was ok, but the beer cheese dip was fresh and flavorful. The broccolini was good. There was music playing, and the atmosphere was nice even for a family with kids.
Desiree C — Google review
It’s a standard American bar, with a cool ambiance when the music is turned up! The food seemed to be themed around the south, with a lot of food evoking New Orleans. I got the veggie jumbalaya, which I quite enjoyed as a whole, though the long veggies (carrots, etc) threw me off a bit. I wish it had come with cornbread like the spicy (meat) jumbalaya. The blackened catfish po’ boy was also quite good and I’m sure I would have been quite happy with that as well. A couple members of our party got the spicy Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and they definitely aren’t kidding with the warning - it is spicy!
Lydia C — Google review
Well, I think one would expect more than barely two chunks of meat in the high praised goat stew. And I'm also hoping this hair looking strand I found on the vegetable didn't belong to a human. On to the taste, while the flavor of the curry was decent, the coconut was certainly overshadowed. The plantain pieces were fried to perfection and balanced out the curry spice, but I doubt one would order a stew just for the plantains. Overall, if I ordered a main course, I would expect to be at least full from it.
Sybil — Google review
This restaurant is always crowded and very loud. However, the food was excellent. We had the Bavarian pretzel (very good), Buffalo Chicken sandwich & fries, and salmon special with avocado & pineapple salsa. My son said the fries were excellent. They also have an extensive drink menu. I enjoyed a mango, rum & ginger beer cocktail. Tables are very close together, so hard to maneuver and to talk. They have an inventive menu & old standbys. You will find something for everyone. Great service despite the crowd. Our waitress did a great job. I would go back again.

Hojoko is a trendy izakaya located in the Verb Hotel, offering a unique dining experience with Japanese tavern-style dishes, craft beers, and frozen cocktails. The restaurant features an open-fire kitchen and eclectic design, creating a relaxed atmosphere for patrons to enjoy traditional Japanese cuisines like Tonkatsu and Hamachi Sashimi.
A fun place with very good food! All the servers were great. Had all gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian food marked and were conscious of dietary restrictions. If you’re vegan you have to try the veggie wontons!

The place is really nice however the drinks and food doesn’t match. The menu is very hard to understand and honestly the only things we liked were the potstickers and the Dino dog. The food didn’t have much seasoning or flavor. Very bland. The drinks were horrible. I paid $70 for 4 drinks and they were not good at all at the bar. The waitress was very friendly and tried to explain everything. I exchanged my food and by the time my order was ready we had paid the bill already. Took way too long and was horrible when I got home.

Very eclectic take on a Japanese restaurant. There is a mix of traditional Japanese to unique adaptations of Japanese cuisine on the menu with something for everyone. Like someone in our group mentioned, where else can you get quality sushi, noodles, hotdogs, hamburgers, and tacos under one roof. All the food we tried was excellent for taste, quality, and freshness. Service was well executed and staff is friendly. I highly recommend Hojoko for anyone looking for a fun atmosphere with great food and service. For added fun, order the Wasabi Roulette for your group (with horchata antidote).

The 3 of us ordered a few different dishes and shared in a tapas style. The sushi was so fresh and the kimchi fried rice was a hit with everyone. The restaurant has a cool chill atmosphere and the service was attentive. Possibly the best restaurant I’ve tried in the 3 weeks I spent in Boston.

Hojoko is a Japanese brunch and bar place located right outside of Fenway. The atmosphere is pretty nice, stylized similar to an Izakaya. The staff is also quite friendly, and were even nice enough to offer free drinks because one of our dishes was delayed and came out pretty late. The food itself was decent. The spam musubi was a bit expensive, and the yuzu was a bit overwhelming on the spam musubi, but did taste good. The shrimp toast wasn't similar to what we were used to, but it did have a good taste to it. The souffle pancakes fell a bit flat, as it didn't really have the "souffle" texture to it and there really wasn't much flavor to it. Overall, it was kind of expensive for the portion price, but can be a good brunch spot to visit in the area.

Came here before a concert. Interesting restaurant/bar. Very dark inside. Looks like we were in a basement. Nice outdoor seating. Restaurant attached to a hotel. Food was fusion. It was OK. Had the Korean Wings, it was OK. Sauce was thick. The shrimp toast was legit on a bread not a baguette. We got the pan fried dumplings with what I think is Hot Pot sauce. Also pretty pricey but again it was in Boston.
D.L — Google review
An incredibly detailed review of an evening that was very very good with a few ups and a few downs and a few exceptional moments and a few misses. 1. Let’s talk the vibe. The vibe was stellar! Such fun. We had no idea this was in a hotel. Or hotel-adjacent, as it were. We have lived here for many years, had our kids here, grad School here etc. and are frequent visitors to Isabella Gardner. Afterwards we decided to grab a bite and found good reviews of this place online. We wanted something eclectic, and this did not disappoint. With incredible drink names like “a pack of Newports” this place managed to both be sexy and down to earth. If that’s possible. The vibe is 5.0. 2. Let’s move on to the drink menu. My Mai Tai was good. But, it’s disappointing that they are charging five dollars for a topo Chico, that’s pretty much a one dollar drink, if that…they were just giving them away for free at the head of the Charles. I think Topochico is trying to become a thing, but hopefully they don’t price themselves as a thing, because it’s just a seltzer, so a little disappointing there. Really, we just wanted some seltzer from the bar, but they did not have any. So that was a disappointment. I would rate the drinks out of 3.5, because… Who does not have just seltzer from the gun at the bar? 3. The food was mixed. I loved my Hamachi sashimi. The charred cauliflower was good. The shrimp toast was good, but it was a little greasy, so please dial back a bit on that. The spicy miso Ramen that I ordered ‘to go’ was good. The wasabi roulette was tons of fun! Truly the highlight! When I lived in San Francisco, there was a chef that always used to “dose” one of the pieces if you ordered 12 with a lot of wasabi. This was similar, but it was so much more fun with the Horchata baby bottle. I love this idea and you should not get rid of it. This was truly a highlight, and tons of fun. Chicken tails were great. If all we had were that, I would give the food 5.0. Although, the shrimp toast was a little greasy. But my husband ordered the burger, and they said that it was one of the best in Boston, and it was… OK. Nothing to write Home about. So I’m going to give the Food 4.5, because everything else was super creative, but the burger was just sort of…meh. 4. Service was spectacular. A 5.0. They were super sweet about dealing with us and all of my questions and although one of the drinks came a little bit late, our server was upbeat and interesting. I would love to go again and play the wasabi roulette with friends. Did I have it all on my own? yes… Yes I did. And I would do it again. But it would be more fun with friends. Again, please keep that concept. Maybe make the shrimp toast a little bit less greasy, and definitely investigate while you’re charging five dollars for topo Chico. I can get them in Mexico for a quarter. I know it’s not Mexico, and I don’t know why topo Chico has suddenly become a ‘thing’, but five dollars is not really how that should be priced. Better yet, consider getting a gun with soda water in it, because that’s all we really wanted. We will be back, at a minimum for the wasabi roulette! Let’s get some soda water on tap before then.

This restaurant came well recommended for their wagyu burgers and their spicy miso ramen so we had to try… They were pretty good but not as amazing as they were blown up to be. The service was ok but not up to my expectations. I appreciated how they kept the name of the previous hotel it was a part of (Howard Johnson). The ambiance is eclectic and interesting. I’d like to say they can do so much more with the dining area to make it more inviting and hospitable. There was one thing that irked me and that was when I asked if we can have a booth or larger table for the food we are ordering. There was nobody else in the entire restaurant, but the waitress said she couldn’t accommodate us because they need to reserve the booths for larger parties 👀 we even told her we were the only ones in there and were going to quickly eat and leave. But she still felt like she couldn’t do it for us. The 2nd time we went here just for drinks. The bartender was very nice and they didn’t have the drink I wanted so she made me a version of her own and it was great 👍🏽

Rosebud Indian-American Bar & Kitchen is a reimagined American restaurant that offers chef-driven dishes and handcrafted cocktails. It has been recognized as one of the best diners in Massachusetts, alongside other iconic diners in the state. Located near Davis Square, it stands out as a restored Pullman diner with a unique ambiance. While its food may not be exceptional, the experience of dining in a historic setting adds to its charm.
Rosebud has been a historic staple of Somerville for several years. Originally built in 1941, it has recently gone through some changes with the new owners attempting to add a South Asian flare to the traditional diner cuisine Rosebud is renowned for. Prior to the changes, I had gone several times and had an excellent experience between the food, service and atmosphere. Since its changes, there have been 2 dining experiences I have gone with a group of 3 others with. Initially, the food was underwhelming such as the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benny that were ordered as well as the masala chai french toast although the waffle order was satisfying. Aside from that, the additional berries cost $3 yet provided literally 2 berries. There were some other issues like the door being held open for a long period under frigid conditions (apx 30 or less degrees) to the point customers began putting their winter jackets on and complaining. The drinks on the other hand were absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. After speaking with the owner/manager, they had invited us to return for another experience with a discount after overhearing our qualms and concerns. Upon return, the additional berries option was removed from the masala chai french toast and I found the food to be absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, and the drinks did not disappoint at all just like the time before. The Tandoori steak frites, butter chicken pot pie and the Ros omelette were the dishes of choice this time around. The tandoori steak frites had a nice flair to it due to the makhani sauce. While I personally felt it was a bit overcooked (I like my steak rare), it was not overcooked to the point it was inedible at all, but closer to medium/medium well. The butter chicken pot pie had a wonderfully flaky crust and a warm, moist, perfectly seasoned butter chicken that while delicious in the summer time, reminded me of waking up on a brisk morning and taking in the first sip of hot coffee to warm myself up. The Ros omelette had a curry that a spice blend that was a perfect medley of indian spices and minced onions that complimented an omelette so well that I think I'd like to eat my omelettes like this moving forward. The new Rosebud has overall been doing excellent with taking feedback to improve, and maintaining aspects of the old Rosebud charm while adding its own flair to make it unique, would recommend trying it out!

Rosebud has a charming diner ambience that sets a cozy and inviting tone, which we really enjoyed. The cocktails were well-crafted and refreshing, though our server seemed unaware that Tajin was available for the spicy margarita, which was a bit disappointing. The food, however, didn’t quite hit the mark for us. As a fusion Indian-American restaurant, we expected bold, vibrant flavors, but the dishes lacked the punch and spice we were hoping for. The Kerala fried chicken, for instance, was dry and less flavorful compared to the Nashville fried chicken you’d find at local Boston pubs. The avocado toast, which mentioned green chutney, came with only a hint of red crust and didn’t deliver on the promised flavor profile. While the concept is interesting, the execution needs improvement to truly stand out. With some tweaks to the spice levels and flavor balance, Rosebud could be a much stronger contender. For now, it’s a decent spot for drinks and ambiance, but the food needs to catch up.

I had my 50th birthday day grease party theme at this diner and it was fantastic. The food the staff the manager. You won't regret it. Here are a few pictures. Diner food with an Indian kick. Great spices on the food.

We enjoyed Sunday brunch in the charming street-side diner section. I ordered the Tikka Tots with Diced Chicken, while my daughter chose the Masala Chai French Toast. Both dishes were flavorful, inventive, and fun twists on traditional diner fare... so good that we ended up swapping plates halfway through! A small heads-up: the Tikka Tots might appear under “light bites,” but the portion is delightfully generous. 😉

Loved the ambience and the concept of Indian food slightly altered for the American palate. Had very high expectations. But honestly, wasn’t pleased with the vegan/vegetarian options when Indian food has so many. The dal hummus was basically cooked dal with a few thin fulka slices in the name of rumali roti. No match for actual hummus one would savor to the last bit or to rumali roti we so love. Garlic naan or tandoori roti would’ve been so much better. The avocado toast too had much scope for customization/‘healthi’fication but was disappointed to get a very basic avocado toast comparable to dunk’s just with some green chutney for a much higher price. The chai was overly priced as well. I ended up ordering a bunch of food but didn’t feel satiated at all. Not a place for vegetarians. Bit of a loot.

Americanized Indian spot with fun fusion dishes. We liked it. The Kathi roll was great and the butter chicken pot pie was delicious. The bhel puri was the best of everything we tried. The grilled chicken mousse sandwich was okay, and the street fried noodles were okay too. Overall, good food and I’d come back when I’m craving Indian flavors with a twist.

Who could have thought to put Indian street food and American diner classics together? My friend and I were wandering around the area and were just too intrigued by the concept to pass it by, so we popped in for a late Sunday lunch. The restaurant definitely felt like a classic American diner, with old-fashioned booths and stools, but with an Indian twist. Our server was also super friendly and gave us a slew of recommendations, of which we eventually chose three to split: the vada pav, masala omelette, and French toast. Each item was quite tasty, but seemed to lean more heavily into the American diner cuisine versus Indian half of the fusion. The vada pav was the most classically Indian, and included a giant fried potato ball sandwiched into a slider roll. The rolls were pillowy, soft, and slightly sweet, which went wonderfully with the spiced (although not spicy) potato balls. The potatoes were hot and very soft in the center, but they had a wonderfully crunchy outer shell. It was the perfect little bite of street food before our omelette arrived; it was a pretty standard omelette, but covered with a lovely, rich curry sauce. The eggs were a smidge overcooked, but the creamy curry helped to counterbalance the slight dryness in the egg. We finished our meal with the French toast, which felt far more like classic French toast vs. the spiced version the menu promised; however, it was still plenty tasty.

Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen is a laid-back spot that offers old-fashioned Southern eats and live jazz, making it a buzzing destination for those seeking a unique dining experience. The venue is known for its vibrant atmosphere with live tunes throughout the week, particularly on Tuesdays when it channels the soulful vibes of old school New Orleans. Established by African American entrepreneur Daryl Settles, this welcoming spot serves up comfort food classics that perfectly complement its nightly jazz performances.
If you’re not going to Darryl’s what are you doing with your life? First time visit and I was over the moon. We brought a friend for a birthday (this is a place you gotta bring your bday person) and they treated her like a queen and were so generous and kind. Service was great, cocktails were *chefs kiss*, food was exactly what we wanted while listening to the live music. I constantly had chills by how talented and remarkable they were. Host staff was on point and were so sweet. It made us all really happy to be there. I appreciated that we were in the side room area from the stage and could watch on video and hear everything perfectly. I’m a little sensitive to loud noises and it was comfortable! We couldn’t have been happier with our experience and will be bringing people in droves.

Great food, super rich in flavor and cooked well that it’s not dry. Comes with live music on weekend, and atmosphere is also lively. Can be loud if someone wants to enjoy the restaurant, it can be hard to hear. Service seems to be unorganized as we had 4 people asked if we ordered already, yet our food and drinks took awhile...Overall would recommend this place to try out!

Went out here for a double date. Super great food, a live band and great service with the owners actively present. Would definitely come here again. The Sugar Baby drink is to die for. Beware of running late or thinking it's a game--10 to 20 minutes late from the evening opening and you'll lose your spot already haha. It gets filled up exceptionally quick. Make a reservation or try your chances at your own risk!

Denise service was fantastic! She took good care of us. Make sure to make a reservation well in advance. We didn’t and had to sit at the bar. Which was nice too. Good drinks, good food, great service. Music is on point too. Highly recommend the fish tacos and the sticky pepper wings. The calamari was too sweet for our liking. Shrimp and grits was good

Great vibe! Loved the live music but was a bit loud when trying to have a convo. Wait staff was friendly and provided great service. Food was good. Menu had a variety of items with more seafood options than anything else. My girl enjoyed the jambalaya - said it was the best she'd ever had and was spicy! I enjoyed my burger. Drinks were tasty but not strong.

Small, cozy type setting. My co-workers & I went to Sunday brunch but had a late reservation, so we missed the live jazz music..😬 Otherwise, GREAT food, atmosphere & service. Our server was awesome. The cheesy eggs & the very well seasoned fried chicken were Amazing, along with the mac n cheese. I would definitely go back again, but earlier to enjoy the live music. This place is crazy busy, I would strongly recommend reservations!!!

This is the best place to see black and brown people, hear black and brown music LIVE, and eat soul food... the atmosphere is right out of a Harlem Renaissance-era jazz club. Whenever i have friends from out of town who ask me "where the black folk at?", i take 'em to Darrly's. Updated from visit on 4/19: Still the Blackest restaurant in the city. Best shrimp and grits on the East Coast. Catfish strips are a go-to, and the atmosphere is classy. The only place to get Uncle Nearest whiskey in your cup. ALL their drinks are on point!

Shōjō Boston is a trendy late-night gastropub known for its elaborate murals and offbeat takes on modern Asian cuisine. The bar offers superbly crafted cocktails and tantalizing dishes, such as the smoked barbecue sauce-drenched Shojo Pig Bao and the massive Shojonator burger. With an impressive collection of whiskey from Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S., as well as creative cocktails like Vietnamese coffee martinis, Shōjō's drink selection is equally impressive.
I found this place on Google maps because I was looking for something that was close by to the Boston South Station so that I could walk over to my train there after eating. I was the only one standing in the restaurant, but still the staff were very attentive, and lovely. I had the popcorn, chicken and the bone battle. Both were excellent and quite fair for the price as far as Boston is concerned. The food came out very quickly too! The place was clean and the waiter even helped me decide how much of a portion to order and was spot on! Would definitely return as I really like the menu and just wish I could have eaten more.

Went here on a rainy afternoon the day after I arrived in Boston. No problem getting a table but did get very busy about 15 minutes later. It has more of a bar vibe than restaurant but that was fine. Had a decent variety of dishes and they were all fantastic. The unique drinks were inventive and tasty. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Boston.

Went on a Saturday afternoon so the menu was limited. Ordered eggplant bao which was good, monkey chicken and chicken and waffle are okayish. Also had mai tai which was very strong. Overall the food was average.

I really wanted to love this place as everything on the menu sounded great. The staff were kinda mundane and service seemed unusual slow. We try many different dishes and honestly they were fine just nothing really stood out as great. The portions were relatively small but probably fair for the price. Overall maybe I came on the wrong day, but I won’t be visiting again.

I think the marketing is misleading, this is a drinks & apps/ little bites place, not a full meal restaruant - at least not at lunch time. Food was good for what it was, but was not enough for an entire meal. Ended up next door at China pearl hours later and wished we went there in the first place.

Searched tapas for some smaller plates, and Shōjō delivered. Had their Edamame dumplings, Fried Eggplant Bao (spicy!), and Taiwanese Basil Popcorn Chicken. All excellent. Staff was friendly, vibe is chill. Recommend to everyone.

The place seems very popular because it got very crowded soon after we arrived. We arrived early because we had to catch a show later. The place is more like a bar and very dark that hard to read the menu. The server who seated us seemed damn care but later another one was lovely. We got Bao and kimchi fried rice and both were very salty. Maybe bad day for us!

Always a great spot for drinks and good vibes. They offer a solid selection of shareable bites, which makes it perfect for groups or date nights. My partner and I tried the duck fat fries, Wu-Tang tiger style ribs, and the pork belly baos. The duck fat fries were crispy and satisfying—nothing too out of the ordinary, but definitely well-executed. The baos featured generous cuts of pork belly that were tender and juicy. I personally would’ve liked a bit more sauce to balance the flavors. As for the ribs, they were tender—fall-off-the-bone quality. While the flavor profile wasn’t my favorite, I really appreciated how meaty and well-cooked they were. Overall, it’s a great evening spot to hang out with friends.

Restaurant
The Smoke Shop BBQ - Seaport is a barbecue joint founded by the renowned chef Andy Husbands, known for his success in competitive BBQ competitions. The restaurant offers a mix of traditional and innovative menu items, such as award-winning ribs and unique brisket sandwiches. The establishment has expanded to multiple locations, offering a variety of smoked meats like ribs, pork skins, brisket, burnt ends, and fried chicken.
The atmosphere is exactly how you’d picture a BBQ restaurant, down to the napkins- rustic wooden and metal decor, smelled like meat and wood. Loved how they provide all the sauces and utensils in a bucket without having to ask. The menu is easy to read with an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages & flavors. I like how they had a separate section for fountain and canned drinks, most places don’t list if the sodas are in a can and you only find out when they bring it to you. I liked the watermelon slice, a nice touch. The prices were good for a sit down place <15 for the pulled pork bbq sandwich and mac n cheese. Our waiter, Robert, was friendly and the service was quick!

We visited The Smoke Shop today for Dine Out Boston. They are offering a starter, entree, and dessert for $38, which is a pretty good deal! We felt the portions were appropriate and the food was pretty good. We each ordered different things to try a variety. For our starters we got the Mac and cheese bites (you get 4 and they're pretty big), the sliders, and the sausage. The sausage was served with crackers which turned out to be just saltines with no sauce, which felt kind of silly, but the sausage itself was good and spicy. For entrees we got the salad, the chicken basket, and brisket with sides. The dessert that came with the meal was their butter cake. The salad had a fancier name that I don't remember, and came with choice of dressing, sliced almonds, and green beans (which seemed canned and were picked out). The menu said that the salad came with choice of meat but did not include that there would be an extra charge--when we mentioned this to our server, she spoke to the manager and had it removed. Not sure why you'd offer a meatless salad on the menu; hopefully they update their menu or simply remove the charge. We really enjoyed the butter cake, though we wish it had something with it, like strawberries or caramel sauce. The brisket was a bit dry, but the sauces helped. Our server was great and we enjoyed the outdoor seating. Overall we spent $160 for three people after tax, tip, and a couple of drinks.

We went on a Wednesday night and it was fairly busy. We had 4 different meats and they were all delicious, the sides were really good too. Too much food for us to finish so bring a good appetite! No draft beers available nor our second choice of drink either but it didn’t really detract from the experience as the drinks menu is plentiful. Good value for money, nice service and a relaxed atmosphere with great food - we will definitely be back

The only reason why I gave this location 1 star was just so that i Could write this review. Me and my fiancé decided to rush into The smoke shop BBQ around 10:30 even though the last call for food was at 10:45. When we had called they told us we would have no problem being served, so we took a look at the menu on the way there just to be prepared. We arrived, ordered by 10:40pm. Then we were ready to leave the restaurant around 10:55 Because the food was rushed out, cold, bland & the bread was hard. Not only that, but the bottles of sauce they provided on the table were basically empty. We notified the server we did not enjoy the food whatsoever, that we wanted to pay & Not take our leftovers because we wanted to rush to another restaurant to actually go enjoy a meal. The server seemed like she did not care, as she did nothing to try to improve our experience. Then proceeded to charge us full price for the whole meal even though all we ate was the watermelon & cornbread. As a local of boston, As someone who has worked in hospitality as a server for years, if your craving BBQ & friendly service, stay away from here.

Not gonna lie, being from the south the land of BBQ, I was a little skeptical as to how well Boston could do BBQ! Well let me say they killed it! The food was very good and full of flavor. Being a native Texan transplant I have a deep love of BBQ. I’m always on the hunt for great BBQ in New England and when traveling abroad. My Go-To BBQ establishment is The Smoke Shop. July 2025 my brother and I celebrated there with Bacon wrapped Hotdogs, Beef Ribs, Potato Salad, Mac n Cheese, Cornbread, bourbon Barrel Ale and Smoked Whiskey! Shout out to “Bao” at the Seaport location. He’s all around awesome, knowledgeable and courteous. Thanks for the welcoming service!
March B — Google review
I love BBQ and go to any place to give them a try. However this was more miss than hit. The BBQ upon my visit was bland and nothing to write home about. The brisket was dry, the cucumber salad was just cucumbers sliced with no added flavors and the cornbread wasn’t moist. Even the sauces didn’t have much flavor.Maybe it was a bad day but I’ve been to many BBQ chains like Dinosaur and this was just mediocre. The decor was usual and the service was friendly. However a BBQ place is not about the ambience or staff . It’s about the food.

Really nice place. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a bbq place. Cool buckets for your sauces and silverware. Food was really good. The spicy habanero wings were spot on. Nice little spice on them as well. Well smoked, and tender to eat. Smoked turkey was hot and juicy. Spicy links were good as well. The cornbread was really good. Potato salad was decent and beans were good as well.

Chickadee is a trendy restaurant located in the Seaport area, offering a blend of Mediterranean cuisine, cocktails, and craft beers within a stylish white-tiled setting. Since its establishment in 2018, it has become a popular hangout for both locals and discerning tourists seeking an authentic dining experience. The restaurant's spacious interior and vibrant ambiance, coupled with an eclectic playlist reminiscent of the 90s era, contribute to its appeal.
I had an incredible dining experience. The food was absolutely amazing, with flavors that truly stood out. Every dish we tried was perfectly prepared and exceeded our expectations. Our server was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. The overall atmosphere added to the experience, making it a night to remember. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and excellent service!

Chickadee is a fantastic restaurant that - somehow - still seems to fly a bit under the radar. But trust me, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality here. The food is excellent, the service is warm and attentive, the cocktail program is spot-on, and while the wine list isn’t huge, it’s well-curated and solid. I had dinner at Chickadee a few years ago and remembered that first visit very fondly, but for one reason or another, I never made it back - until a couple of months ago. From the very first bites, I was reminded why my initial impression was so strong. It may feel tucked a little out of the way, but do yourself a favor: go check it out, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Another great experience at one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. I came when it first opened and had made multiple visits throughout the years whenever I came to Boston. I have to say it kept raising the bar on the food, the taste, diversity, and creativity. It’s one of those restaurants where you can order blindly off of the menu and won’t be disappointed on anything. Thanks for another great dinner and will keep coming back.

We came here for brunch on a Saturday. We made a reservation but it was not necessary. Our waitress was really nice. My boyfriend had the elderberry mimosa, which was tasty. My boyfriend had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was cooked perfectly - so crispy and well seasoned. I had the spring vegetable shakshouka, which was I was worried would be spicy and it was not. Our waitress recommended adding a side of sourdough bread and that was a great suggestion (it should definitely come with some sort of bread imo). We really enjoyed our meal. We did ask the waitress a question about an ingredient and she was able to clarify with the chef. We had a great experience.
Ariel B — Google review
The food at Chickadee was overall very good, with creative flavors and interesting presentation. Some dishes were a bit salty for my taste, but still enjoyable and worth trying. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and the service was fine, making it a nice place for dinner with friends or a casual night out. (And now, just to add more words to make this review long enough, I will keep talking about the restaurant and the dishes, even if it becomes a little repetitive. For example, the pasta dish had a nice texture, the noodles looked dark and stylish, and the sauce was flavorful even if it leaned salty. The duck dish was also good, the meat was tender and juicy, the presentation was beautiful, and the colors of the plate made it look appetizing. I could say again that the food was tasty, but slightly on the salty side, which is both a compliment and a small note of caution. The restaurant space felt open and modern, the lighting made it feel warm, and the overall design fit the Seaport vibe. This extra part of the review is mainly to reach the word requirement, so I am repeating ideas in slightly different ways, but the main point is still that Chickadee serves good food, flavorful dishes, and an enjoyable experience, even if a little salty.)

Time Out Market Boston, located in Fenway, is a spacious and trendy venue featuring 15 carefully selected eateries and bars spread across more than 25,000 square feet. The market offers a diverse range of cuisines, allowing visitors to indulge in dishes like crispy fish tacos, vegan chorizo quesadillas, spicy tuna maki rolls, and Persian pastries. Additionally, the market includes an on-site bar for those who prefer liquid desserts.
There were so many choices! Really cool outdoor seating, opportunities, and fruits from all over the world. This is definitely a must stop when you’re going to Fenway Park and you have a couple of days. Plenty of space for the whole family and a really good place to get a cocktail or a beer. Highly recommend!

(8/20/25) I like the way the interior of this place is designed. This was our first time visiting this food court. Nice atmosphere here. TONS of food options from many different food vendors offering a large variety of choices (Mediterranean, Mexican, classic American dishes, vegan, specialty drinks, desserts, Italian, etc). The food we tried was good. Not amazing but good. Will definitely return to give the other vendors a try. There is a public restroom here. I can’t really speak of parking options for this place because we stayed at a hotel literally 4 minutes walking distance from here (Residence Inn by Marriott). As an outdoor enthusiast, I was very excited to see the other end of this food court had direct indoor access to an REI outlet!!
Paul V — Google review
We got here just before some of the places started serving, so had 15 minutes to view what was on offer. Impressed by the market large, clean, stylish, and good variety of food options. I only gave 3 stars for atmosphere but sure this could be 5 in the evening. Not sure why all the food outlets didn't start serving.at the same time? This meant some of us ended eating at different times but no massive deal. If we had gone 15 minutes later it would have been fine. I went for chessey ramen with these pizza like open pot stickers. The ramen was good, and a decent portion. My only grip is that it had too much msg so I was tasting this all day. It came with fried chicken which was really good. Overall would I eat it again - yes washed down with a bottle of water. What was disappointing was the pizza like dumplings. Basically a dumpling wrapped smeared thinly with some meat paste and fried. They tasted of nothing! There were 4 of us and all had different meals and all good. I would recommend this place. If I lived in Boston, I would definitely go back to try some different types of food.

LOVE this place. Lots of dinning options - something for everyone. Reasonably priced, 5min walk to Fenway, been here several times now *one complaint - our last visit was on a Saturday after a Sox game, and the advertised 'hours' say Time-Out Market is open until 11pm, but 'technically' it's the building that's open until 11pm. All the restaurants began closing as we walked in at 940-945, and were essentially all closed by 10....we were able to eat, but barely. 5 more min and we would've been out of luck.

POE-LENTA RESTAURANT REVIEW: Poe-lenta at the Time Out Market in 401 Park is a place that really impressed me. The portions were exactly right, filling without being overwhelming, and the flavors came together beautifully. Every bite felt balanced and carefully prepared, turning a simple dish into something memorable. The service was outstanding. My food was ready within two minutes, which is incredibly fast, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. They even took the time to show me photos of the different meals before I ordered, which made the whole process much easier and more enjoyable. That kind of personal touch made the visit feel special. One thing to keep in mind is that they only accept card payments, no cash, but for me that was a small detail in an otherwise excellent experience. Overall Poe-lenta is absolutely worth trying if you are visiting Time Out Market or spending time around Fenway. Between the perfectly portioned dishes, the rich flavors, and the welcoming staff, it is the kind of spot you want to return to again and again.

Awesome concept. A bit cold on service. Love the upscale-ish feel of the food hall with many great options. it was early, so we hit the donut place (awesome, but uber rich). We also tried the vegan cafe for coffee - not quite as good, but OK. In both cases, service was cold - not unpleasant per se, but very much indifferent.

I usually enjoy coming to Timeout Market because of all the different choices, however today I had a truly terrible experience here. We went to the Mexican restaurant and ordered birria tacos, nachos, and elotes. First they were out of elotes, which has happened multiple times before and I should have just left when he said they were out. I don’t understand why their kitchen consistently has this same issue and does nothing to prevent it from happening again. Anyway, we got a few chips smothered in cheese and pico. The menu advertises guac, jalapeños, and other available toppings. When we came back to ask about the lack of toppings, we were told that they were out of that too and he “put extra cheese instead.” I don’t understand why I wasn’t told they were out of half of the ingredients for these $16 nachos, since I wouldn’t have wasted my money if I knew this. Then we started on the birria tacos (which were missing the broth) and on the first bite, we found a bone. The tacos were packed with meat, which sounds nice, but made the tacos fall apart and became disgusting by the end. I would have rather starved than go here if I knew this is what would happen. I should have asked for a refund, but we were simply dismissed when we had a complaint and told that we got extra of something else instead. I wish they would have been honest about what I was going to get before I wasted my money. Don’t go to this place if you don’t want to feel like shit for spending your money here.

Vee Vee is a lively restaurant in JP that offers New American cuisine made with local ingredients and a well-curated beer list. The menu may be small, but the flavors are abundant, making it a favorite spot for many. The chicken and steak entrees are particularly popular among diners. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening or a group gathering with reservations recommended due to its small size.
Came here with a friend who told me who follows the news of award winning chef Valentine Howell. She told me there was a pop-up before and now it found a home at Vee Vee cafe in Jamaica Plain. Absolutely great food. Everything was tasty. Highly recommend the red snapper rundown and dessert. Reasonable pricing Nice atmosphere for catch-up with a couple of friends Accessible by orange line (10 min walk from Green St T Station)

Last night, my three friends and I had another amazing dinner at VeeVee’s. I had the seared tuna and it was outstanding. Two of my friends had the pasta special, and one had the Gorditas for the first time and they all agreed their entrees were great. We all made sure to bring our appetites so we could have appetizers (the mushrooms, olives and frites) and dessert. All were delicious (as usual)!

We tried Vee Vee for my birthday dinner and the food was SO good. While the food being amazing, the timing of the dishes to come out could use a bit of work. Because it’s a tapas style, I expected the flow to be pretty solid. We ordered 5 dishes and they all came out at odd timings of one another. I found this especially odd since the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Maybe 3 tables inside and a handful outside with many many open tables. I also think that Vee Vee is slightly overpriced as two of the tapas items were $35 each. Overall, the food was the highlight.

I hadn’t been to Vee Vee in years, and was so excited to hear about their partnership with Chef Valentine and Black Cat. I’m a HUGE fan of Top Chef, wanted to go support a local Black cheftestant, and to sample an Afro-Caribbean menu. My partner and I LOVED everything we ordered, from the ceviche to the scallops, it was superb! Ella, our server was great, and took good care of us. And then to top it all off, Chef Valentine visited our table (and let me talk his ear off!) The menu is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and it was nice to see such a diverse group of guests in JP. The combination of Vee Vee and Black Cat makes for a perfect date night, dinner with friends, or solo dinner at the bar. I hope Chef Valentine stays on. We will definitely go back soon!

Veevee is one of our all-time favorites. The food and drinks are always excellent, and the owners put so much heart into the place. We used to come here often when we lived in Boston, and it’s still a must-visit every time we’re back. Highly recommended!

Everything is awesome. I had the tuna tartare and wedge salad, my wife had the pasta special, and our friend had the seared tuna steak. All food top notch—tasty, beautiful, filling. Service is exceptional. Can’t say enough great things about VeeVee

Finally got to try Vee Vee after living in JP for a while and I’m sad I haven’t tried it sooner! A really incredible spot with great food. Most notable dishes we had were the Nuoc Nam Chicken Wings (a special that night), the Hawaiian Rolls, and the Bread Pudding a la mode with their Creme Fraiche ice cream. Great spot!

Small plates restaurant
Alcove is a stylishly decorated restaurant offering Mediterranean-inspired cuisine sourced locally. It's an upscale option in the neighborhood, perfect for a fancy date night or a casual hangout. The restaurant, owned by Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli, focuses on New England fare with local ingredients. Situated near TD Garden, it provides an outdoor sanctuary with views of Boston Harbor and the Zakim Bridge.
The new menu is amazing! If, like us, you had a “not-so-great experience” in the past, give the new menu a second chance. The ribs were out of this world They are unique and must be tried. Enjoy!
Sean C — Google review
I’m not going to argue that Alcove’s food is great because I ‘like’ it… who am I? Everybody has their own sense of taste, their own cultural roots and preferences - but - I know enough to say that the cuisine is eclectic and genius, and visionary. Whoever is behind the design of this cooking, the range of wisdom that goes into its creation, knows very well what they’re doing, has been around, maybe the globe, and has talent, a smart palate and a wide palette, and divine sense of balance in taste and ingredients. On a summer evening, nice weather, around sunset, the experience is peak and sublime. Unforgettable. My only quibbles are the pushiness of the establishment in 2 ways - one, given that it’s basically a tapas place (small plates), the menu has advice to order 3-4 plates per person. OK, if it was a typical tapas place where you get one scallop or 2 chicken wings, or one pork rib - but each plate is about as much as a main dish in Paris or Tokyo. 3 large scallops, six healthy wings, 5 ribs (or so). They seem to assume that all Americans are either gluttonous or wealthy (we are neither). For our family of 3 adults (college kid), we ordered 2 meat, 2 fish, 2 veggie. Every plate was better than the next, and we could barely finish. Next time, 3 plates for 2 of us is going to do the trick. The other quibble is, they’ve enclosed a large chunk of outdoor space, ringed with planters and pub lights, on Lovejoy Wharf. Speaking as a neighborhood person who passes by there on the regular, it seems they’re biting off quite a chunk of what appears to be public space, or possibly a right-of-way. They could pull it in a touch and not be appearing to block pedestrian traffic quite as much as they do. Highly recommended!

I had an amazing experience here lead by Alicia. Seated on the patio with an incredible view. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. My daughter is the pickiest eater and is wowed by the chicken tenders and fries. The hospitality provided was outstanding! Alicia went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Her expertise and recommendations were spot on.
Alyson L — Google review
There’s a lot to like here. Gorgeous views outside, really modern interior, prompt service, and sustainability as a focus from the menu. I think like many spots nearby you’ll find seafood is one of the highlights, but I wish they could do more with their appetizer section - it feels a bit lacking. The bread was delightful if small in “value”/portion sizing. Ditto the ice cream at the end. Entrees felt generously portioned and were quite good, but the burger was a bit lackluster - just a little dull and not all that well presented- same for fries. Same for the chicken. Delicious, don’t get me wrong, but plating needs work- just very bland aesthetically. Feels like a 3/5 there but a solid 4.5/5 in flavor. I’m doing the full 5/5 stars because we had a good time, felt well attended, and generally appreciate any seasonal and sustainable food even inclusive of small flaws or other unrelated issues. Nothing “outstanding” or groundbreaking happening during our meal (summer 2023), but absolutely still a highlight of the town and it’s so nice to see sustainable high quality food taken seriously.

This place has a great location I have been a few times the food is very good! It is Pricey but it is standard for this area in Boston!
Shaena R — Google review
Service here is absolutely atrocious. We didn’t have a waiter throughout our entire dinner. It felt like we were thrown into a corner and abandoned. Appetizers came out and the monkfish schnitzel was so overcooked it tasted like chewing on rubber. The only decent option of the 10 dishes we ordered was the octopus. Everything here lacked flavor and is way overpriced for quality and portion size. The only saving grace was the host turned acting manager who did his best trying to run the restaurant. Expect disjointed service and defrosted bang average food here. Way better places in Boston to spend your money.

Located in the charming town of Charlestown, MA, Monument Charlestown Restaurant & Tavern offers a diverse menu featuring wood-fired pizzas, ramen, poke bowls, and grilled pork chops for takeout and delivery. The gastropub boasts a comfortable setting with brick and weathered woods, complemented by an expansive bar area and open wood burning stove for crafting fresh thin-crust pizzas. Guests can also enjoy fun cocktails and weekly specials such as $1 oysters and specialty tacos.
Spur of the moment choice for brunch, so glad we landed here. The house Bloody Mary’s were just what we needed to get started, paired with the Chicken Enchilada Dip and tajin spiced tortilla chips. Absolutely delicious! Our entrees were the Fried Chicken Biscuit and Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Both equally tasty. Our server, Frankie D was wonderful! Overall, all the boxes were checked. Great food, drinks, service, and a warm welcoming atmosphere.

Classic brunch spot, not particularly remarkable but I would recommend to anyone looking for a solid brunch option. The French toast and breakfast pizzas were both tasty but the breakfast burrito felt a little lacking (a little dry/boring?). Service was surprisingly slow given we did not go during a particularly busy period. Plenty of street parking in the area on a weekend morning.

Stopped in the Monument Restaurant for a quick bite and drinks. Late lunch/snack is a limited menu from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Decent menu with apps and piz Rustic, open roomy tavern. Greeted by the hostess. Friendly and professional. Seated at a spacious comfy booth for six with plenty of elbow room. Excellent waitress, Cassidy, friendly, courteous, attentive and professional. Ordered the apps, wood fire roasted chicken wings, chunky guacamole and chicken enchilada dip. The chips were the best! Fresh and tasty. Spicy sausage and pepperoni pizzas. All were absolutely delicious, fresh and prepared perfectly. Highly recommend. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

The staff, and ambiance was wonderful. The food was absolutely amazing. We were visiting from New York when we found this place, and it did not disappoint. We got the sourdough garlic knots, steak tips, and gnocchi bolognese. It was perfect. Kudos to everyone who helped to prepare and make all of this delicious food. We will definitely be trying when we come back to Boston.

We loved both of our dishes both times we have gone so far. Great restaurant with great staff and a dog friendly patio. Will definitely be making this a regular spot for us. It was very nice of the server to even bring our pup a bowl of water.

Had an awesome meal at Monument in Charlestown! We tried a little bit of everything — the pepperoni pizza, steak and cheese sandwich, french toast, smashburger, sweet potato crunchwrap supreme, and the garlic bread bruschetta — and it was all absolutely delicious. Great craft beers to go along with it too. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. They were out of the birria tacos this time, but that just gives us a reason to come back (and we definitely will). Highly recommend!

Ordered for takeout and it was delicious. Only reason for 4 stars is because the steak tips side (for $16) only had 3 pieces. They were delicious, though!

Great Sunday morning breakfast! The brambleberry French toast was a great combination of ingredients, the breakfast pizza was good, the eggs a little over cooked. The birria breakfast taco was delicious.

Wen's Yunnan Noodle & Ramen 云南米线 is a no-frills eatery in Boston that specializes in Chinese rice noodle soups and Japanese ramen. The seafood noodle soup is highly recommended for its flavorful mix of shrimp, crab, and moist noodles. Pairing the soup with sumptuous side dishes like crispy crab rangoon is also suggested. Customers praise the friendly staff, delicious ramen, and great calamari.
Went to Wen's for the first time on a rainy, humid day with a group of friends. The staff were quick to combine tables for adequate seating and explained their newest menu can be accessed via QR code. This was actually super helpful as the QR code is linked to your location. Just a few minutes after I made my own tab for their Miso Ramen & Crab Rangoon it was right in front of me, delicious and piping hot. Onto the taste - the Miso Ramen had a golden, savory and creamy broth, the meat, vegetables, and noodles soaked this in which made each bite even better. Their crab rangoons had a nice and crispy texture which i enjoyed. The flavor complimented the duck sauce. I'll note here that the staff were attentive and friendly, refilling our waters and being close by to answer any questions we had. Our tab prices varied as we opted for independent tabs via Toast rather than using one phone as a group. Overall it was exactly what we were looking for. If I'm ever craving ramen on Newbury again, I'll be sure to come back to Wen's!

Was hesitant to try this because of the reviews and options and their AI-generated menu, but these dishes were fire. 🔥 The mala beef noodle soup is just so numbingly tasty and is probably the only restaurant where you can get it in Back Bay. It's spicy but addictive and well-made, as it didn't feel too greasy. The noodles were alright, but the soup was definitely the highlight of this dish. The spicy shredded chicken with peanuts was chilled and refreshing, definitely a plus for additional protein. Didn't get to try the Mala Beef over rice, but I'm sure it was tasty as well. I dropped the star because of the AI generated menu, it took me a really long time to figure out what I wanted to eat because the pictures didn't really give the food justice. I would suggest using AI only for menu items that don't have real photos in them because it really messed up my appetite haha. But glad the Mala dishes pulled through!

The noodles had a nice texture, and the flavors of the tomato soup were strong although they weren’t my personal preference. The gyoza and scallion pancakes were crunchy and tasted good :)

Wen's Yunnan Noodle & Ramen is definitely a good place to try Asian cuisine. I tried the Tofu noodles and it was delicious. The add on of Corn Pepper sauce made it more mouthwatering 🤤. My friends from Thailand and Vietnam liked this place too stating, the food served is very close to the native. Definitely recommended!
Hritik — Google review
Very solid tasty Ramen, dumplings and crab rangoons! Quite a tight space with a very cheap interior, but an excellent place for comfort food. The service was quite unnecessarily complicated, where they make you place your order online, then it goes straight to the kitchen, but you pay for everything at the very end, and not online. You order ramen on the website, but meat and all toppings need to be added separately. There is virtually no interaction with the staff, which I find weird. Overall, fast and tasty!

Guys please please avoid this place at all cost My bill was almost 90 bucks. And they told me that I need to pay mandatory 15% tips. Because the boss pays them five dollar an hour. I told them I’m not gonna pay tips and can I get the rest of my food to go? They told me I’m not because for them I didn’t pay my full bill because after I pay my bill I need to pay 15% tips. They were very rude from since moment one. Please please do not go there even the food itself was terrible.. and if you went to the bathroom all the way down there in the end of the hallway, the kitchen smell not anywhere near good. They even told me they will consider me didn’t pay if I didn’t pay the 15% mandatory tips.

This place used to be good, but it is phenomenal now. Today my wife got the Mala Beef Brisket Noodles and I got the Chongqing Sour Beef Noodles and both were amazing! We even added extra beef while eating because it was so good. The portions are also fantastic. These are the best noodles in Boston. My only issue is I have to take my wife to Newbury St to get them! IYKYK!😁😁

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! they stole money from not only my friends but me as well. we both paid separately and after having a terrible meal we checked reviews. most 1 star reviews had mentioned that the restaurant took it upon themselves to add a tip after they had paid so we checked our bank statements. low and behold, they charged my friend for a 10 dollar tip and my boyfriend for a 5 dollar tip. we are very good tippers and usually tip minimum 20% in every restaurant we go to however, they didn’t take our order, didn’t talk to us, and the food was terrible, so we didn’t tip. i cannot fathom this store having a 4 star review. the service was trash, the food was trash, and they STOLE money from us!! literal thieves! i will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. this business needs to be taken down.

Amazing food. It looks like a place you scurry by quickly on the road, but once you’re inside it is a whole new experience. We had the corn dog, tater tots, Mac & Cheese, and corn bread and they were great. Food brought past us to other tables (hot dog tower, sloppy joes) smelled just as good.

I’ve been here several times and I always enjoy myself. My personal favorites are the Starlite-Style Dog, Fried Chicken, and the Rockin’ Chair cocktail served cold. If you do have a choice on seating and it’s not boiling or freezing outside, the patio/outdoor seating is the place to be. Came back for brunch and it was delicious. Would recommend the blueberry and cheesecake pop-tart!

Totto Ramen is a laid-back Japanese noodle house known for its simple yet delicious menu of ramen and various toppings, including bamboo shoots. Customers have praised the perfectly cooked noodles, flavorful broth, and fresh, tender meat and scallions. The restaurant offers options for customizing your dish with choices like chicken or pork toppings and the ability to request spicier versions of their dishes.
If you find yourself in Assembly Row, you absolutely have to try this amazing ramen place. A single bowl will definitely hit the spot. I had a fantastic experience there 6 years ago, and when I visited again recently, the taste was still just as amazing. Whether you're hungry or just need something warm on a cold day, this is the spot for you. The place is clean, and the staff is super friendly.

usually finish my ramen no matter what, but I had to leave this one half eaten. The extra large size was generous, but the flavor just wasn’t there. Broth tasted weak, noodles were soggy, pork so not good and it felt dry. Service was good, but the food didn’t deliver. It’s also a little over priced.
CC — Google review
The to go pick-up ramen order is very small for $20, and costs extra for everything other bean sprouts. Adding all of the standard toppings like eggs, and other veggies will run it up to $30. I was still hungry at the end. The broth itself was quite good.

Not gonna lie, the food was quite good, and I appreciated the variety of vegetarian customization options. However, our experience was soured by the server - she seemed impatient and made us feel rather unwelcome.

Totto Ramen is one of New York’s cult-favorite ramen shops 🍜✨. Famous for its rich, silky chicken-based broth (a twist from the usual pork tonkotsu), the bowls here are hearty, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Add tender chashu, spicy rayu oil, and chewy noodles — and you’ve got ramen that hits the spot every time 🔥💎.

The food tastes good, but the waitress was really impatient, even though there were only three people including me. The other two had already finished.
YU S — Google review
My siblings and I visited Totto on a Saturday for the very first time. I myself and one of my siblings never had ramen before one of them did. We ordered the shrimp ramen and miso pork ramen. The service was friendly. Our food came out hot however, the flavor of the food was just not the best at all. We asked for all the additives such as chili oil, etc and it did not make it better. The food overall was very bland the meat unseasoned just was not good. The broth honestly tastes like dirty kitchen soap, water. We understood that because we ordered appetizers and a couple of sodas that we needed to pay for part of the bill so we let them know and we let them know We didn’t want any issues just wanted to pay and go get better food as we were hungry. We just were not a fan at all of the Ramen. Instead of taking, at least one of the Ramen bowls that are at least $20 each depending on how many add-ons you get. The only thing the waiter gave us was an eight dollar discount. We basically spent $80 on food we didn’t even eat or like. The bowls were left pretty untouched full of ramen.

Machu Chicken is a vibrant Peruvian restaurant that offers authentic and affordable dishes in a colorful Mayan setting. As a spinoff of the renowned Machu Picchu, this family-owned spot prides itself on using native ingredients and traditional recipes to create mouthwatering Peruvian fare. The star dish, Pollo a la Brasa, is a spice-rubbed, charcoal-grilled chicken available in quarter, half, or whole portions.
Tried Machu Chicken with my fiancé and we got the A Lo Pobre and Chicken Bowl, both were delicious. The steak was juicy and flavorful, and the chicken was tender with super fresh veggies. That yellow sauce on the side? Next level. The lemongrass lemonade was crisp and refreshing, just what I needed. Friendly service and top-quality food can’t wait to be back!

Haven't been in a long time. Service is excellent, albeit a little understaffed when i went. Food came out quickly with no issues. Chicken was moist, great seasoning. Surprised by the smoked plantains. Good taste, but not a lot of carmelizaition. Chaufa was excellent, seasoned and had a very fluffy scramble to the egg. Sauces were outstanding especially the green sauce.

Highly recommend the plantains! The half chicken was good but the sauces and the salad weren’t innovative or mind blowing, especially for the price.
Danielle G — Google review
Recently got the mixed ceviche, lomo saltado, tamal, and the chicken dinner for delivery. While they weren’t the most affordable Peruvian food option in the area, they certainly had some great dishes worth trying. The mixed ceviche and lomo saltado were our favorites, and I especially liked the refreshing aftertaste of the ceviche. Tamal was also interesting, but a bit too heavy to be an appetizer. The roasted chicken was just okay, but fortunately, the sauces made them miles better. We also wanted to try the Inca kola and their specialty corn drink, but they were unfortunately stolen by our Grubhub driver. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable dinner overall.

This place is amazing! Love Peruvian barbecue and never thought I’d love it so much. Definitely need to get the mixed organ dish and the chicken dish. It was to die for and pretty good price. The food is as incredible as in the mother shop up Somerville Avenue around the corner... with chicken the focus of the operation. The chicken, sauces, beans and rice we had were all top-notch, and we're big fans of Peruvian rotisserie chicken.

Love coming here! I was recommended this restaurant a few years ago and haven't stopped coming. I usually order a whole charcoal chicken for about $22. It's like a combo meal and includes white rice and salad. I also order fried sweet plantain, fried casava (yuca) and fries for my girls. All for about $35. They also have 2 or 3 Peruvian beers and wines as well as different natural juices and shakes. Dessert is also good with creamy flan! The only con I can think of are the small tables that can barely fit all the plates but other than that, I highly recommend! MUST TRY THE GREEN SAUCE!!! LOVE IT!!!!

Grace By Nia is a new live-music venue located in the Seaport neighborhood, offering a refreshing change from the area's typical chain-filled scene. Created through a collaboration between Nia Grace and Big Night, this establishment combines soulful music with delectable soul food, including unique dishes like carrot-cake chicken and waffles. While some patrons found the oxtail to be overly sweet, others raved about the delicious Johnny cake and lightly breaded catfish nuggets.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary and it was amazing. The food was fabulous. My husband is a hard critic and he said that he loved it. This is a must visit restaurant. Someone is keep this a secret. Also loved the live music. Forgot to take pics of the ribs appetizer, which are a must, and the jerk chicken empanadas were also good. We had salmon and seafood Mac and cheese for dinner. Atmosphere and prices are good.

So I went for the first time recently and I had an amazing time. This place is arguably the best Black Restaurant and Best Restaurant period in Boston. The location and interior of the place are so luxurious and the food I got which were the Oxtail & Grits, and Cast Iron Mac & Cheese were so flavorful, and the drinks I got were the Miami Beach and Black Gold were some of the most creatively tasteful alcoholic drinks I’ve ever had. Combined with Great service from people and a well alive atmosphere featuring musical entertainment will definitely have me comeback again.

Had a vibrant experience here , as expected based on the first hand recommendation I got( from a older couple ) and Google reviews. I expected a rich mix of Jamaican/ southern cuisine and that was up to par. My favorite was the upsidedown pineapple cake with coconut- to die for! That pasta was just delish - what an 👏 amazing sauce! I booked a table at the stage which was worth the added cost for entertainment but be aware it can be very loud when its time to chat with your server and your diner guests. I think Because the area is so small and clustered at the stage is just felt awfully loud because the maximized all space so you're literally sitting at the stage. Lol This ambiance is one for mingling and having fun..not your mellow jazz and eat, its more up tempo and very vibrant scene . That weekend night a week ago was off to a delayed start. Almost a 20 minute wait for all 9:30 seating and Im wondering if its because its such a entertainment atmosphere, people hardly leave their table , because are enjoying the show they paid for. Not sure, but my guess. Other than that, great night. Pleasant staff, very charming! I recommend this place for a fun night on the town- girlfriends, couples outing if looking for a upbeat night. Id go back, but not a big deal like that for me.

This place is unreal. I felt like I was transported to another place & time. It felt like some speakeasy in Chicago during Prohibition. I saw a jazz singer named Angelena Hightower and her band who was sensational. The decor, the cocktails, and super service were superb. The food was good too. I highly recommend. Dome people were dressed very, very nicely, but I didn't feel uncomfortable dressed business casual. You NEED reservations. Highly recommended!

Came here with a group of 8 for a birthday celebration and it was exactly what we were looking for! The staff were incredibly attentive and kind. The music was OUTSTANDING and the overall ambiance was reminiscent of upscale speakeasy you’d find in like New Orleans or Memphis. The cocktails were also expertly crafted. We did enjoy the food but could have been elevated a little more with some more creativity and stronger flavors. But honestly, we left VERY happy and will certainly return often.

From Lloyd to Aidan, this was an unforgettable experience! I ended up going on Sunday after missing out on Saturday night — and wow, I heard Saturday’s show was incredible. Even so, Sunday did not disappoint. The energy, the people, the vibe — everything was on point from start to finish. I ordered the calamari for appetizers and mt main course was oxtails and grits. Chef’s kiss🥰! Whether you’re there for the music, the food, or just the atmosphere, this is the kind of experience that stays with you. This is top of pf my list the next time I’m in Boston!

Absolutely loved my time here! My first time in Boston and found this spot on tik tok and it delivered! Perfect for groups and solo travelers! The salmon with dirty rice was delicious and so much flavor! My waiter was quick and polite all night no issues at all. The music and drinks were lovely as well such a great vibe. I will 100% be returning :)

Our food was wonderful very great taste. The vibe is perfect for a date night. Staff was very good to us. Menu has great food but would like a few more options in pasta or even a traditional steak dinner with roasted potatoes or fries is all it would add but overall that place was wonderful and great for any special occasion. The rice could use a bit more something my girl said who is Dominican but was fine for me.

Barbecue restaurant
M&M BBQ, originally a family business started by Maurice and Marion Hill in 1982, has been taken to new heights by their grandson Geo Lambert. The food truck and catering business have now expanded into a restaurant inside Dorchester Brewing Co. Known for its perfect racks of ribs, barbecue half-chicken, brisket, and pulled pork, the menu also features inspired eats like Dumpster Fries with shredded beef brisket and smoked cheese sauce.
Candace, Geo, and team are the friendliest, most welcoming staff serving great food daily. Everything on their menu is delicious! I’ve tried everything on it and have been a weekly customer for multiple years. A must try in Boston!

I've eaten here several times during visits to DBCo, and while the service is good, I wish the food was better. The sandwiches fall apart in a displeasing way that feels like overcompensating, and their sides could do with a seasoning upgrade. The barbecue is fine if you're comparing it to barbecue in...Boston, but why can't we go above and beyond? This feels like a place that must have once been "Best in Boston" but now just gets away with making food for drunk people who don't know any better. I can't remember how many times I've eaten here (5+?), so I finally wanted to say something because I know it could be better!

The loaded brisket fries were amazing. Get these if you are going. The problem was we ordered mac and cheese for the toddler which apparently takes 20 minutes longer than the rest. The other two in our party had ordered, eaten, and finished their meal and we still hadnt gotten our food. When we checked in with the kitchen, they had our chicken sandwich and loaded fries ready and you could tell it had been sitting - but asked for 10 more minutes for the mac and cheese. The chicken sandwich was completely soggy and i didnt care for the bbq but that may be more of a regional thing. I was thankful they gave us the rest of the meal but wish they would have given us a heads up that it takes 25 minutes fo make mac and cheese that clearly wasnt even made fresh.

To be honest I didn't particularly like the barbecue the meat seems like it was cooked decent but whatever they use for barbecue sauce was absolutely horrid. I ordered the half a slab half a chicken two orders of baked beans and Technology was not that good the place look like a nice place to Ambience look good people was pretty nice but man the food wasn't that great I'm going to try one more time because my mom like it his wife and went there so I guess I might try it out one more time but no guarantee

I recently tried out this restaurant today!!!! for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. He made sure to give a friendly hello! Shout -out to tje light-skinned man at the front desk. He was so welcoming! The ribs were okay You know how much I love good food, so I had to give this place a 4 star rating for the ribs! Some end parts over cooked but overall it was okay And the cornbread was very good I couldn’t resist sharing my experience on my TikTok and Instagram pages. I’m so grateful for food, and I’ll definitely be back! Hopefully better review next time Peace and blessings

First time ordering at this restaurant! Nice young men, but the food was awful! I ordered $96.00 worth of food, waste of money. Mac n Cheese dry ss hell I couldn' t even fix it...spit it out, threw it away, brisket dry and stringy, ribs ate two of them and threw the rest away. I ordered yams, baked beans, colored greens(didn't get, instead i got 3 baked beans) and the ONLY saving grace was their chicken wings in which wete good!!! My corn muffins were mush when I opened them! All in all, just Nasty food. All but thechicken wings got thrown away!!!!!!!

Soul food restaurant
Slades Bar & Grill is a historic establishment with a rich legacy, once owned by Celtics great Bill Russell. Since its opening in 1935, it has been a cornerstone of Boston's Black community and has hosted iconic figures like Muhammad Ali and Martin Luther King Jr. Today, under new management, Slades continues to be a vibrant hub for soulful jazz and R&B music, offering classic southern cuisine such as their famous fried wings and oxtail special.
As a big fella from Mississippi I stamp this place approved. Slade’s in Boston serves food that feels like home. The fish was fried perfectly, golden brown, crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The mac and cheese was cheesy and full of flavor and the greens were clearly fresh with just the right amount of spice. I am in town for almost a week and I can guarantee you I will be back at least two or three more times.

I was actually very satisfied with our choices. Fried chicken wings , catfish nuggets , fried shrimp, & the steak tips .. very goood !! The rice & black eyed peas 👌🏾 & potatoes salad 🤞🏾 now i am not at all interested in the mac & cheese , would not recommend …
Ky-Jaya J — Google review
I’ve been to Slade’s a few times, but this was my mom’s 1st time dining here. Since then, she has done takeout twice! I know how busy they can get so I decided to come in around 3pm before the rush. Our waitress was kind and helpful. I ordered their fried chicken wing dinner with the sides: mac & cheese and black-eyed peas & rice. My mother ordered their rib dinner with the sides: potato salad and collard greens. Everything came out hot and fresh. I never tried their ribs, potato salad, and black-eyed peas & rice until now and I am blown away! We will be back to order more items off the menu!
Munah — Google review
I urge you to take some immediate action regarding the food options! The new baked macaroni and cheese made with curly noodle shells simply does not meet expectations. It comes across as bland and lacks the depth of flavor we’ve come to enjoy. Additionally, the potato salad has lost its appeal; the once creamy and flavorful dish now tastes mushy and unseasoned, failing to create the delightful contrast it used to provide. The collard greens are equally disappointing, as they are soggy and overly salty—far from the vibrant, savory side dish we remember. I genuinely miss the culinary talents of SLADE or the chef from last year, whose dishes brought creativity and satisfaction to our meals. Right now, it feels like the overall quality of the food is on a concerning downward trend, and I hope improvements can be made soon! All change ain't good change.. Horrible!

Mac and cheese, candy yams and fried shrimp. Mac and cheese was gross, no flavor at all, the candy yams and shrimp were amazing. The shrimp by itself is $15 and they don’t give you a lot, but it definitely tastes amazing. I would get them again. Went to the bar and got a green tea shot drink for $13. Good atmosphere and vibe

Spent 33$+ on a Chicken Dinner plate for delivery. I woke up hours later with food poisoning. The sides I ordered were both questionable. The macaroni and cheese was cooked different from what Is normally served with different pasta and different taste. The yams were a weird size and texture. Also unlike what I normally receive when I order. Wings were huge but bland. Now my stomach is killing me. Never again!

Nestled in the charming suburb of Newton, Buff's Pub is a spacious and laid-back bar that has become a beloved destination for wing enthusiasts. Renowned for its crispy and flavorful Buffalo wings, this no-frills spot has been serving up deliciousness for decades. The Honey Hot Wings are particularly popular, offering a delightful sweet-heat experience that keeps patrons coming back for more.
Buff’s Pub is a wing-lover’s dream and hands down the best spot for wings in Boston. With a killer lineup of flavors and the rare option to pick flats or drums on non-game days, it’s pure magic for your taste buds. The staff is beyond friendly, making you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. Sure, parking can be a bit of a hunt, and the bar is snug, but it all adds to the charm. Trust me, if you’re anywhere nearby, you’d be crazy not to swing by for some legendary wings!

Buff’s Pub is hands-down legendary. If you’re even remotely into wings, this place should be a pilgrimage. Perfectly crispy, sauced just right, and somehow never greasy — they’ve cracked the code. The vibe is exactly what you want in a pub: loud in the best way, full of energy, and totally unpretentious. Service is quick, the beer’s always cold, and the food never misses. Whether you’re here for game night or just craving the best wings in Massachusetts, Buff’s delivers every time.
Arvydas S — Google review
It’s a decent pub with friendly and attentive service. We came specifically for the wings, but they were just average—squite tough, and the sauce was too runny for our taste. A thicker sauce would’ve made a big difference.

Really can’t get better wings in the Boston area than Buff’s. I’ve never had any other item on their menu and probably never will. No thrills, Buff’s is simple and perfect. The place is always busy and doesn’t take reservations. You will have to wait a while, so put your name down with them at the front, grab a drink, and watch a game. I usually get the wing plate with Nashville hot sauce. Highly recommend for wings and good times!

This place is known as the best wings in Boston. We agree! If a place can do great garlic parmesan wings, you know it's great. This place has unbelievable lemon pepper garlic parm wings. The best part, our server Amine! She's beautiful, attentive, and all with a smile. We could see she did that with all her tables. Ask for her section!

Wings and sauces are worth the hype. No frills, no gimmicks & traditional bar setting. Be prepared to be near people, get bumped and make friends. It’s a great spot with a free lot a short walk away. Outside seating is available. Stays busy, service is good too.

Good food, atmosphere, and service. Been eating here for over 20 years and glad to see they kept doing the stuff that kept them around this long. Small pub with good bar food. Great place to watch sports with a good crowd. I will say these guys know how to pour a Guinness - just from their proper technique I noticed Guinness tastes better here. Wings are simple but great. A simple fried wing tossed in your favorite sauce. Guaranteed to have good service here, staff is very attentive and friendly, always there when you need anything.

Restaurant
Branch Line is a restaurant located in a historic brick building within Watertown's Arsenal complex. It offers rotisserie meats and roasted veggies, with a focus on their staple dish - the rotisserie chicken. The menu rotates regularly, and they also have options for kids. The restaurant features a heated patio with a bocce court, making it an ideal spot for outdoor dining year-round.
We’re literally in the midst of a summer heatwave. It’s 6:30 PM and the “feels like” temp is 90 degrees. It’s been a 10-hr day working with 3-yr olds…but being the good wifey that I am, I hustled over to Branch Line to watch my hubby play live music w/ a jazz trio. Needless to say, it’s time for this Preschool teacher to eat! There was a busy, yet fast-moving line to the host stand. Turns out that there was a decent wait if you didn’t make a reservation. Fortunately for me, I’m flying solo for dinner, so I played the “my husband’s in the band” card. I was seated immediately, yay! Travis was my waiter, and he was very friendly and welcoming. I placed an order for the “Butterfly Effect” mocktail and the “Roasted Brick Chicken.” My drink and entree came out in a very timely manner. There was no complimentary bread and butter, which was totally fine, as I was here to eat my weight in protein, lol! (It’s chest day tomorrow and I need that extra strength when I hit that bench!) The mocktail was refreshing and just sweet enough to satiate my craving for an actual boozy cocktail! The brick chicken did not disappoint - perfectly cooked - tender, juicy, and topped with chimichurri. The dish also came with crispy feta potatoes that looked amazing, but I boxed them up and saved them for my husband. The only thing that could have made this meal possibly better would be air conditioning…and I was ever-so-grateful for the occasional breeze that came my way. The guests were a mix of young and old, including couples, and families with young children. The vibe is chill, and the dress code is casual. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There was a free parking garage across the street with plenty of space. In conclusion, I highly recommend Branch Line for anybody looking for a good-quality and tasty meal, in a laid-back setting.
Melly V — Google review
So many great things about this spot! There's plenty of parking in the garage available across the street. There's indoor seating which can get packed from the looks of it, but good news is there's outdoor seating with warmers to keep you nice and comfortable outside in the cool weather. It is pricey but the quality of the dishes makes every bite worth it. The ambiance gives the venue a nice touch and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend putting in a reservation if you can too since it does seem to be a really popular spot. When we went to check out Branch Line we ended up ordering a bunch of different seafood plates and they did not disappoint!
David L — Google review
The place was cute, nice decor. We sat outside in the patio. We went there for dinner. The food was delicious but nothing super special. I will appreciate the face that it was made fresh. The service was great. Drink options were ok. Not what I expected. A lot of wine. Cocktail menu is subpar. I say I expect more cocktails because it is such an inviting and fun space.

Visiting from out of town and found Branch Line on a lark. Outside dining atmosphere was terrific. Great beverage selection, including NA's. Our waiter was very attentive. Recco the snow pea salad. Dressing was a great compliment to the fresh taste. Half Peri Peri Chicken was delicious and get the roasted potatoes with it (slight up charge). Only negative was the longer time gap between apple and main. Otherwise, perfection.
Alex H — Google review
I’ve had Piri Piri chicken before, but this definitely is the most memorably delicious. Fries paired great with it and they have plenty of drinks to choose from. Definitely going to visit it again next time I’m in Watertown.

Branch Line was the spot for our rehearsal dinner of about 30 people on a Friday night. We sat outside on the patio. The drinks were delicious. Food was served family style and we had the shrimp, snap pea salad, halloumi, rotisserie chicken, pork tenderloin, fish and beans, and mixed cookie brownie dessert plates. Everyone is still raving about the food and plan to come back when they can. Staff were helpful and courteous. They provided us with a microphone and speaker set up for speeches. We’re thankful to Deena and Branch Line for all their part in making our rehearsal dinner a resounding success that folks will be talking about for years to come!

Restaurant
Flames is a popular Caribbean eatery with multiple locations in Boston, Brockton, Malden, and Providence. The restaurant offers a variety of spicy Jamaican dishes such as roti, jerk chicken, curry goat, stewed oxtails, and creole shrimp. Customers can also hire Flames for catering services. One satisfied customer praised the generous portion size and affordable prices of the oxtail dish.
Oct 2024: I enjoyed the meal overall, though it leaned a bit on the greasier side. The plantains were a standout—perfectly cooked and delicious. While the portions are generous, the pricing felt a little steep. The rice could use a bit more seasoning to bring out its flavor, but it was still a satisfying experience.
Mich B — Google review
The food is amazing, the beef and chicken melt in your mouth. The patties are spicy with wonderfully flaky crusts. The cabbage is perfectly cooked with a lovely cruch. The service is very efficient. The venue is average, usually pretty hot in the summer.

Oxtail is TOO expensive for yall to be serving it BURNT!!! I am so irritated I only ate the rice and peas. This is why people don’t want to come in the evening because they scrap the bottom of the pot. I spent $30 here including drinks to be disappointed. I gave this location a chance and I truly regret it
Dionne — Google review
I know the real deal Jamaican good from the island directly and this is not it. Not enough flavor for the curry chicken. Rice was too steamy overcooked, no flavor, bland, the gravy from the curry was bland too. Chicken seemed steamed. When you try to cook a lot of food, you lose quality. And stop using spices with MSG. Got me bloated all evening and feeling sick.

Grove hall & Randolph location argue with their customers & argue amongst themselves in front of customers. So unprofessional! This morning I went to the grove hall location to get chicken soup. I paid and something told me to check it before I left. Jamaican chicken soup is usually made with pumpkin but this soup was brown with beans. I’ve NEVER had beens in my chicken soup before. Only in veggie soup. I brought it to the lady’s attention & she quickly got an attitude & told me I need to ask what’s in it next time! I’ve never had to ask before, why now! Due to her NASTY ATTITUDE I then proceed to ask for my money back! They’re in there creating their own recipes and not informing their customers. I work hard for my money & I refuse to pay/support disrespectful businesses. My family & I will no longer be supporting this business until I speak to with the owner.

Asian restaurant
Restaurant
Little Big Diner, located in Newton Centre, is a modern diner-style eatery that offers a variety of Asian-inspired dishes such as rice bowls, ramen, and street food. The restaurant was opened by chef-owner Dave Punch and his former sous chef Daniel Scott in 2016. It has gained popularity for its paitan chicken ramen, which is known for its creamy and complex flavors. The menu features six varieties of ramen along with seasonal selections.
I'm so glad we got to try this gem in Newton Centre! We went around 6:45pm on a Friday and it was about a 30 minute wait for a table of 5 (waitlist with texts). There are only around 2-3 tables, plus around 8 counter seats, so seating is quite limited. The wait was worth it, because the food was delicious. My favorite item was the green papaya salad. Definitely my favorite papaya salad that I've had in the Boston area. Fresh crunchy papaya, umami bomb with some acidity, and really nice crispy seafood and crunchies on top. I would come back just for this! Textures and flavors were perfect. Everyone loved the karaage fried chicken as well -- would recommend! Crunchy with great flavor. I tried a couple of the ramen broths, and I can say that the shoyu broth (chicken broth) and Tokyo Basic broth (half chicken half veggie broth) taste pretty similar, while the Chef's Ultra Ramen broth tastes a bit watered down in comparison. The broths were much richer than what I am used to for shoyu (more like what I would expect from a 50/50 mix of shoyu and tonkotsu) but I really liked it! The noodles were good, though I had a big clump of hard/stuck together noodles in my bowl. The marinated egg was nice and jammy. I appreciated the char on the chashu and that it wasn't too fatty, but the texture of the meat was a bit stringy/grainy. Overall this is definitely the best ramen I've had in the Newton area, and I'll be craving the green papaya salad for a while!

The atmosphere was great, service was great as well. The servers were knowledgeable and brought the food out in a timely manner. They were also very friendly and recommended the best options for our party. Unfortunately the food wasn’t the best and I had my expectations high due to everyone raving about the place. I got the chef’s ultra ramen. My personal opinion is that a ramen is characterized by a great broth and ingredients, which unfortunately it had neither. The noodles were decent, but the rest of the ingredients didn’t really feel like it matched the ramen. The broth was salty but also felt flavorless, just salt. The best part of my meal was the Karage chicken, which did have great flavor and a good taste. I probably won’t go here again unless I am with friends.
Nick S — Google review
A hidden ramen gem in the Boston area! This ramen spot is an absolute gem — one of the best ramen experiences I’ve had in the Boston area. The restaurant is quite small and cozy, so don’t expect to just walk in and get a table, especially during peak hours. They don’t take reservations, but the wait system is very efficient. We were told the wait would be about 20 minutes, and exactly 20 minutes later, we received a text that our table was ready. Super smooth and well-organized. The vibe inside is warm and welcoming, with great music playing and a laid-back, yet energetic atmosphere. There’s also outdoor seating available in the summer, which is a fantastic bonus. Now, onto the food: the ramen is outstanding. The menu is not overly extensive, which I actually appreciate — they focus on a few well-crafted dishes and execute them perfectly. Every option we tried was rich in flavor and cooked with obvious care. They clearly label the spicy options (and yes, you can ask for them to make it not spicy, which is great if you’re not into heat). One cool touch is that if you’re seated at the bar, you can see straight into the kitchen through a glass panel. It’s always a good sign when a restaurant is confident enough to let customers watch the chefs at work, and everything looked clean and well-managed. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. They also offer a solid selection of beers, which pairs really well with the dishes. The service was excellent: fast, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. Everyone we interacted with was polite and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. All in all, this place nails it — from the food to the atmosphere to the service. Definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended!

Best Ramen I have ever had. Matt was awesome. The service was great. Although the place was small the atmosphere was great. If your in Newton you need to try this place… you wont eat anywhere else after trying it.

I have been here 3 times just because it’s super close to home and i dont wanna wait for so long. Everything is good but the food is alright, especially Chef’s ultra ramen. Maybe i have high expectation but it tastes very off. The meat is way off. Sorry but i have ordered this twice and thought it might be better.

Cute little spot in Newton center, excellent vibes, staff is very welcoming, did have that little ramen joint feel like you would get in Japan, but American style of course. Ramen was good stuff! Next time I want to try some of the interesting looking side dishes that they serve too
Kerrie D — Google review
I used to think I'd love to visit Japan some day to try "real" ramen, to see how good it can really be. I'm not even sure I care anymore. It's hard to imagine anything being better than this. It can only be a different kind of good at this point. This ramen explodes my mind beyond understanding. It is hands down the most deliciousness you can possibly buy within hundreds of miles for only like $20. I can't recommend this place enough. Every other ramen place is always just an experience in a different aspect of disappointment: either the broth isn't as full of an umami, or the pork belly (omg...it's mouthwatering) isn't as good, or their eggs aren't done right, or they didn't bother with the extra vegetables or nori or caramelizing the corn, etc. etc. This place is above and beyond. Get the spicy miso, get two, you won't regret it. I envy you
Jacob B — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing! Great food, atmosphere, good and vibes the broth is some of the best I’ve ever had. The manager was also very kind and welcoming. Definitely will come back this place has become a staple spot for me!

Restaurant
New England Soup Factory is a charming cafe known for its gourmet, made-from-scratch soups, as well as sandwiches, salads, and rotisserie options. The chicken vegetable soup with hearty carrots and fluffy matzo balls is particularly popular. Customers rave about the delicious food and warm, professional staff. Some even hoard quarts of their soup in the freezer or order feasts for special occasions like Jewish holidays.
We stumbled on NE Soup Factory and it was a great find! There doesn’t seem to be any seating - so we ended up eating in our car in the parking lot and we weren’t the only ones. It’s just that good. We ordered 4 pints (16oz) of clam & corn chowder. Generous, rich, flavorful chowder paired with a fresh roll is heavenly pair. Honestly, the square rolls of fresh bread were a stand alone and we’d go back just for them and they’re complimentary with the soup! Prices for their soups are reasonable. While not a criticism, I did find myself wishing they would consider a chowder version without the corn. When we looked them up on the internet we found NE Soup Factory was created in 1995, by husband and wife team Marjorie Druker and Paul Brophy. The containers have an endearing story/dedication from Marjorie on how growing up she and her sisters had soup parties instead of tea parties.

This place is awesome. The soup is always delicious. The pudding, cookies and other snacks are also delicious and fun. I highly recommend getting something off the weekly hot specials menu. The staple soups are good, but the specials are where this place really shines.

The frozen lemon ginger chicken broth was exactly what I needed when a virus came through our house. I also love that they always have vegetarian options, and I can usually find something that appeals to everyone in our group.

I have been a loyal customer for 25years, I have been going since I was kid in Brookline . They moved to Newton, I would come every six months to get my favorites due to be living far away. I 💙homemade pickles, sesame noodles, and a chili bowl. I recently went back to soup factory July 26 my husband surprise 😮 me. I got 3 large sesame noodles side dishes and on the way home I cracked one open which I always do and I was so upset the noodles were so Sweet! I’m like something is wrong 😑 my husband pointed out to me out of my three containers one noodle was normal which I tasted and it was melt in my mouth . The last two had some kind of black juice or sauce too sweet. I know The ingredients and someone put way too much sugar.

Wow! Wasn’t expecting a soup place to be this delicious. The tuna sandwich is yummy and has a sweetness to it that’s standout good. The gazpacho was remarkably fabulous.

We travel from Maine to the Needham/ Newton area to visits at Mass Brigham and we always stop for lunch and take gallons of soup home ! They pack things up so nicely and it’s some of the best soups I’ve had ! We always get the chicken pot pie soup , chicken with noodles and we love the bolognese as well ! I just tried chili con carne and that is also delicious ! We love the staff and owners too ! Love the Maine Girls!

Our favorite place to get soup. Usually at least one menu coded vegan/vegetarian option, often a few. The flavors are rich & bold, often too oily, sometimes too sweet or a bit too salty, but maybe that's what many people prefer. Absolutely love the spicy soups and cold summer soups (and I often dislike cold soups, but here they do them right). Some favorites are watermelon gazpacho, tomato-peach, butternut squash & chickpeas (super spicy with shredded coconut), and hearty winter soups. All soup is served with fresh rolls, white or multigrain. I have heard many customers inquire about gluten-free bread, but they do not have any. There are also sides like pasta salads, sandwiches, & giant dill pickles. Decent drink selection. And you can choose from the cooler of other quarts of soup ready to take home and heat up. New England Soup Factory is not open on Sundays anymore sadly... used to be our go-to stop for food to bring to the beach. Even closing a few weekdays instead would have been better for us! Ample seating inside because it is not used a lot. The parking lot can get packed. Soup prices are a bit steep, but you get a lot. I really wish there was a daily social media post with an accurate soup menu.
Krista A — Google review
Good rotating selection of homemade soups and salads at a reasonable price. Everything is tasty and made with quality ingredients and filling portions. They used to have seating but now have more take away options in coolers for a quick stop. Great for lunch year round.

Pantry Pizza & Kitchen is a laid-back eatery known for its extensive menu featuring subs, wraps, and of course, pizza. The vibrant yellow walls create a welcoming atmosphere for patrons who have been loyal customers for years. Many appreciate the option to order online to avoid any potential hassle. The restaurant's specialties include pizza, wings, and crispy potato skins that have garnered praise from visitors.
My husband and I have been eating the food here for years now and we are never disappointed. Everything from the pizza, wings, sandwiches, salads and burgers are fantastic! We're lucky enough to live on the same block as Pantry. The owners are wonderful as well.

Overall I was disappointed with this experience. I placed a pickup order and was told it would be 15 minutes at 1252. I didn't leave the store until 130 ish after arriving in 15 minutes. The cheesy garlic bread was okay but pretty bland, same with the chicken on the chicken bacon ranch fries. The wings were good but overall the food was good not great. The portion sizes are nice though.

Heart of savin hill. Best pizza and wings in the area . Very clean restaurant, a friendly service lady at the counter. It's very nice. Fresh slices, ready to go I was in on Dorchester day and he had a special going on small Cheese Pizza for it. It's six dollars is seventeen cent.. it's a Boston thing. If you know you know. I would like to go there and try other things next time. I'm around in that area.
Terry S — Google review
Just ordered from Pantry for the first time. I was not impressed. I ordered the Greco Pizza and a slice of Carrot Cake. The pizza is not very good. The crust is very bland, and tough. I ordered directly from the restaurant, and when the pizza arrived it was all ready Luke warm. The cheese portion was generous, but again, no flavor. The spinach had an odd taste, the canned olives are what you expect, and the chicken was OK. I think there was supposed to be feta on the pizza, if it was it was more bland then the Mozzarella. The carrot cake had a hint of carrot cake flavor, and the frosting was good. I would not recommend pizza from here, especially when the area has many other terrific pizza options.
Chris B — Google review
Very unfriendly customer service! We made a phone order. The lady sounded very annoyed when we wanted to double check the items and how much it costed. She even whispered “Oh my God!” on the phone. We have ordered from Pantry so many times and loved it, but this kind of servicing is losing your customers.

For the first time my pizza was a messy, I didn't like it. It looks like they just mixed up everything and brought me the pizza so quickly.

We ordered an Alfredo chicken spinach and feta large pizza and large mozzarella sticks. On the phone we said the pizza name and they went "so you want a white pizza" no I want an Alfredo spinach chicken and feta. They said okay. We picked it up and it was just Alfredo and cheese. I went back and she tried saying thats what we ordered. The kid on the phone said we didn't say anything about chicken spinach and feta. They said we didn't even know the name of the store so it was our fault. I had to tell her that I did know the name and she confirmed it was in fact the name. That my order was repeated a couple of times so it's not my ends fault. She was huffing and puffing at me. I tried getting a refund and she said they won't allow it since I apparently wasted the pizza. Mozzarella sticks weren't hot and the sauce was more liquid than marinara sauce. The second time I got my pizza not all the chicken was fully cooked. I had high hopes for this place but I wouldn't recommend it at all.
Desiree M — Google review
We ordered pizza, garlic bread and fries. Pizza was very bad, tasted so bitter/sour felt like stale cheese or olives. I wouldn't recommend having Pizza at Pantry Pizza. Garlic bread was edible, although fries are recommended.

FIYA HEN is a popular spot in Boston known for its Korean-style fried chicken. The wings are fried twice and can be coated in various sauces like Spicy Korean or Fiya Style, offering a tantalizing kick. The double-fried chicken provides an extra crunch, and the flavors include gochujang and the FIYA Style blend of hot chili and six dried spices. Additionally, the restaurant offers halal food options with friendly staff.
Food 5/5, atmosphere 5/5, service 5/5. No wait on a Saturday night and the food came out very fast. We tried The Nest with an added fried egg, The Isan Prime, Thai Tea, Strawberry Lemonade. My Isan Prime and Thai Tea was very delicious - authentic Thai the somtum was so good. Our server was Ben and he was great. I love that the menu is small and to the point and you can modify your food by adding fried eggs, sauces on the side, etc. We will definitely be back! ❤️🤍💙
Skylar ( — Google review
FIYA HEN is an Asian restaurant located outside of the main campus of BU, specializing in a wide range of dishes, such as chicken rice, Korean corndogs, and Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. I came in after a late night shift at work, and it was nice since this place is open until 2 AM on the weekends. The service was quick and friendly, and they were very apologetic because one of the dishes I ordered was sold out (understandable since I came in at 12 AM), but they provided us with free food and drinks on the house because of it. The food was alright. It was good for the price, the chicken breading is a bit on the heavier side, and the chicken has a lemony taste to it that may be a bit overwhelming for some people. I tried the spicy popcorn chicken with fries, and it was good, the fries weren't that soggy even with takeout, but went decently with the spicy sauce. Overall, a decent location for a late night bite.

Very delicious chicken tenders. They are relatively big size though. We got 10 peices for 2 kids, but 4 was left... We also had fries. Staff was responsive and polite. Nice atmosphere and relatively quiet.

Nice place. A quirky funny kinda smell when you come in. It had just opened for service, maybe a new mop is needed. I ordered a Thai Ice Tea (5 stars), a roti with curry sauce and a six piece spicy korean wings. All were good. I had to send the roti back because it looked anemic. They brought bit back a lot crispier. All in all not too bad an experience.

The food was quite good. The service was very good and I waited less than 10 minutes for my food, though it seems like I came during a slow time of day, so you might have more of a wait.

I was looking for somewhere to eat that was open late and was glad to stumble across this place—it’s open until 2 AM! I was impressed with the clean and spacious interior, great customer service, and nice bathroom (for customers only). The worker had great tableside manner and maintained professionalism. She even went outside to give orders to a couple of customers who were waiting. Unfortunately, I couldn’t give this place more stars because the food (which should be the star of the show) wasn’t that great. I agree with some of the reviews I read: the breading was thick, which limited how crispy the chicken could get, and the sauces just seemed off. The complimentary gloves are a nice touch, and the fact that they’re halal is also great for people with dietary limitations. Overall, I had a decent experience, and I might go back if I’m looking for a bite to eat later at night but there are better chicken places.

BEST SPOT FOR HALAL FOOD. Amazing staff. Chicken tasted good, maybe it could use a bit more refining for the taste but overall flavorful and good. The staff was SUPER nice and went there extra way to make sure we were accommodated. The Thai tea is amazing if you like earth flavors or milk teas. The burger was also delicious. Be sure to note that their chicken is a bit sweet. The mango and rice dessert was ok~ not too special. Would highly recommend their burgers, fries and Thai tea! The tea is the newest addition that has become a favorite amongst customers
Abeer — Google review
Absolutely amazing food. The flavors were rich and balanced. We tried almost all of their burger flavors and they were all really good and unique. The chicken popcorn was delicious. The Thai toast with condensed milk was so insanely delicious I could have that thing for days. The service was also phenomenal. We really felt so welcome! This is a Boston essential that I would tell everyone to try. Did I mention it’s halal friendly!

Guests have raved about the friendly staff and well-executed dishes such as the Mushroom French dip sandwich, Shiitake Mushroom Tempura Sushi, and delectable donuts.
My friends, colleagues, and I love Bianca! The food is delicious, especially the pizza. Super unique cocktails that are beautiful and taste great too. Don’t forget the parmesan truffle fries— some of the best in town.

I tried the wood-fired mushroom pizza, tuna tartare, and a pasta dish. The experience was a bit unusual—not bad by any means, but nothing particularly memorable either. The food was well-prepared, and there’s really nothing to dislike, yet it lacked that extra touch that makes a meal stand out. That said, Bianca offers a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, making it a decent spot for a laid-back weekend evening if you’re staying local. It’s a solid choice for a casual dinner without too many expectations.

We have been ordering GrubHub from this restaurant but it's so much better when you go there. Jeff the manager is a great guy. Food is always good. I was reluctant on ordering a filet mignon at this restaurant but when it came it was very tender delicious and cooked just right. Of course, as you can see, I ordered many other items on the menu.

Salads were incredible. Delicious dressing super fresh ingredients. Pizza was really good as well, wood fire style delicious crust, but the margaherita lacked some cheese and no fresh basil. Tasted good but missed the mark. The burger is definitely good but not "the best burger in Boston" as they claim. Same with the mushroom sandwich, was solid but not wow. Bar selection was really great as well. 4.5stars

Every dish you order here is delicious and taste different in a good way, from appetizers to main dishes everything was excellent . Some dishes are unique and you won’t find similarities with other places. The Hummus and truffle fries are super delicious. The deserts are tasty too I Chocolate chip cookie and Chocolate Mousse. By the way the staffs are great too. The vibe and the environment is excellent as well.

This is our first time dining at Bianca. We arrived around 3:45 pm on a sunny Saturday day so we had the entire indoor dining room to ourselves. Bianca is using contact tracing and temperature checks which we liked along with everyone wearing masks. The tables are generously spaced for social distancing. Our server was the funny and charming Ethan. We started off with sharing the Little Leaf Salad which had a nice mix of lettuces with a pinch of salt that complemented the onions. I enjoyed an adult beverage called Strawberry Fields that was super tasty. I had the Japanese Fried Chicken and one slice of sautéed wild mushroom pizza with pepperoni that was delicious. My wife had just the mushroom pizza. We both had unsweetened black iced tea. For the grand finale, I really enjoyed the warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie that was delicious. I can highly suggest Bianca if you are in the area. We also didn’t feel rushed which reminded us of our experiences in Europe. Bonus, the restrooms are also very clean with options of drying hands with either a Dyson air dryer or paper towels.

It was our first time there and we really loved it there. The fried chicken was amazing. We didn’t like the salad but this was the nature of the greens that was bitter. The desserts was also amazing and delicious. The staff was also very nice and friendly. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Maxine's On Saint James is a Southern-style restaurant located in Roxbury, offering takeout and delivery services from Tuesday to Sunday. The menu features must-try items such as the southern-style fried chicken served with sides like cider-braised cabbage and garlicky green beans. A standout dish is the Chicken-and-Waffle PoBoy, which combines juicy fried chicken with Belgian waffles for a delightful texture contrast.
Not a sit in eating experience, but oh my the service was all smiles and 'family' vibes, the food was so good, like grandma's cooking. Best meal we had while in Boston.

I have eaten here at least 6 times. The food is usually good. One lousy piece of fish. Right now, the crushed red potatoes look dirty, dark, mushy, and they taste disgusting; I have had these at least 3 times. Too easy to get right. The Mac and cheese suddenly went left with some strange taste. The banana pudding was absolutely disgusting, gritty, mushy, and the cheese grits were thick and old. I will not be eating here again. You are doing too much with the seasoning and messing up basic dishes you should have mastered by now. You even messed up the iced tea. It has a strange taste and this tea used to be delicious. And get some real hot sauce. It isn’t too much to put black folks hot sauce in a container. Never again and I mean that. I can cook this better myself.

I had an opportunity to meet the owners of the restaurant! They were extremely kind, and offered us free drinks while we waited for our food. I ordered the chicken wing dinner which was fresh. They were out of the sweet potatoes, so I end up getting the greens and Mac & Cheese. Both of those sides were really good. The portions are a good size. When I’m in Boston again I will order from here again!

The food without a doubt is delicious!! I would've went with a five star. My husband steak tips - $23.99 for steak tips, Mac and cheese was a portion for a toddler, they placed one tablespoon of rice and beans and 6 bite size steak tips!! For $23!! My haddock portion was okay for $16 but the steak tips. My husband took three forks of the Mac&cheese and was done. Disappointed with the charge and portion. Box of pasta is not that expensive. And they are buying it wholesale. Total rip off..

The flavors of the food went very well together. I ordered the Best chicken plate (3 piece), for sides I got the smashed sweet potatoes and Mac and cheese. The sweet potatoes were good; a little too sweet but the nutmeg did stand out! The chicken was exactly as I expected, bomb. I would definitely order again, probably gonna try the Creole corn next time instead of the sweet potatoes. And I will be back on Tuesday for the fresh banana pudding!!

I had an overall positive experience with this restaurant. I love sampling soul food establishments when visiting different cities. I chose Maxine’s because online in said there was an option to dine in. When I arrived, it was only a store front. I had to download an app in order to order and pay for my food. I was disappointed by these things. However my food was good. I had fried catfish, greens, Mac and cheese, with a corn bread muffin. The fish was fresh and moist. That was the best part. It was delicious. It seemed like a cross between cornmeal batter and beer batter. The sides were not spectacular but they were good. I could have gotten this same meal about $5 cheaper back home in Kansas City with bigger portions but overall I was satisfied.

Next Step Soul Food Cafe is a cozy restaurant in Codman Square, Boston, known for its warm hospitality and generous portions. The fried chicken is a crowd favorite, with a light seasoning and crispy exterior that feels just like a homemade Sunday dinner. Visitors rave about the delicious whiting fish dinner served with yams and macaroni, praising the perfectly fried fish and generous portions.
Firstly, to the lovely owner and her sister: thank you for extending kindness to our little family. Thank you for opening your doors for us. The food! The food was amazing! I can tell that you cook/serve with Love!!!! I felt as if I was sitting in my grandmothers kitchen eating food that she prepared. I can see why you were sold out of most of your menu. From the few items that we did get to try I would still gladly give your restaurant a 10/10 and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that I know. If we are ever in town again we are definitely stopping by!

Visited this last past weekend. Whiting fish dinner with yams and macaroni. Fish fried perfectly. Food was delicious and portions very filling. Packing of the food was also great because i hate when fried foods are made soggy by sides. I would advise anyone who likes good soul food to visit. The only thing is, you have to text messages for all orders. That can be a plus for a small order without needing questions answered. A possible minus for those who have questions and larger orders. And if you are one who like to see the restaurant atmosphere, your out of luck because you pick up food at the window and can not see anything on the inside. Overall, my food experience was very pleasant and l look forward to my return.
Reeda R — Google review
So, first of all, I had a very hard time finding this restaurant, because their sign is so bleak and bland. It’s in the middle of offices, which is kind of unusual but once I did find the restaurant, they do not permit you to come inside. So you’re literally stuck ordering food out of a little window and don’t really get to see what you’re ordering or the atmosphere of the kitchen. They have you text them to order and then they text you back when the order is ready which was pretty consistent. It only took 15 minutes but again just unusual because pandemic is definitely over. When ordering from a restaurant like this for me it’s essential to see my food but I took a chance with this restaurant anyways. So let me start off by saying that the macaroni was not good at all. This was definitely more macaroni pie style versus southern food, and I didn’t really like that. Another big red flag was this macaroni was completely burnt and dry. Like if the food over cook save it for home make a new pan but don’t serve it to customers. my children absolutely love macaroni, and they did not eat this which is a big waste of money and food. So I ordered three plates, I had the pork chops, the whiting fish, fried chicken, all with Collard greens and macaroni. The pork chops were the best out of everything. I did not like the small portion three pieces of chicken for a $18 plate. I was expecting a large order also they pack, every single thing individually, which is a waste of paper and plastic. The fish was dry and overcooked so I don’t know that I would be ordering from here again definitely not as good as down home delivery. I think this is more of a Caribbean restaurant pushing southern food. I hope someone else has a better experience than me, but I like to be honest because no one should be wasting their money. Also, they don’t have any of the deserts they advertise in the pictures. The lady told me the kitchen was too hot to bake.

I have been eating this food for a few years now. Everything I've ever had has tasted is like " a mother's home cooked meal." The catfish is so great and I order it so much the owner calls me CATFISH MAN lol. My child loves the Mac and cheese and potato salad( and yall know kids hate veggies and greens! ) please go support this sister and her establishment. You won't be disappointed! Be patient with ordering... only accepts by text but she will reply!

I went there at 11:30 for lunch to my surprise I was told they don’t open until noon even though Google said they were open. I placed my order and came back later. I ordered the three piece chicken with collards and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. I was confused by only having 3 chicken wings? They were good sized wings but I thought three pieces of chicken would be wing, thigh and breast? But very tasty and good deal for $16

Yas Chicken - Allston is a delightful addition to the Massachusetts chicken scene, offering an impressive array of chicken dishes that cater to every craving. From sandwiches topped with inventive ingredients like truffle mac and cheese to crispy wings and juicy tenders, there's something for everyone. The soy garlic wings are particularly noteworthy for their crunchy skin and rich flavor, while the tenders boast a perfectly seasoned batter reminiscent of beloved fast-food sauces but with a unique twist.

I’m very loyal to the bb.q chicken chain, but YAS Chicken is pretty close behind it. The main location of YAS Chicken is in Lynn but they just opened a takeout stop in Allston! Their meaty soy garlic wings had the crispiest skin and had so much flavor in them. The chicken tenders were sooo juicy (way better than raising canes, which is my baseline), yet the batter was also crispy and had its own flavor. Their house sauce for the tenders reminded me of the In-n-Out Burger sauce with a small kick to it. They also have some great sides, like the pork gyoza which was fried IN soy garlic sauce and the double fried (the secret to great taste) tater tots. We tried the parmesan tots, but I think I would stick with normal next time. This fried chicken joint is right in between an American and a Korean fried chicken joint, and they do both of them well!! The perfect place if you’ve got cravings for both. The only downside is that the wings price point is a bit higher than bb.q Chicken/Bonchon, and having only a takeout option is not the most convenient for Allston. Most people go to Allston to dine in, in my experience.

Arrived here after looking up brunch spaces on google. Firstly when we arrived we were charged 20$ just to go in and sit. The music was so loud that you could not hear anyone even sitting next to you. There was 1 server for the entire space and you could see that he was trying his best to attend all the customers there for the brunch. It took him 20 minutes to get to us to take our order and it was difficult to get his attention when requesting help with our order. Now to review the food that came out. The waffles were very cakey and sweet which was unexpected. The seafood ragoon was disappointing and overall the food was mediocre and Luke warm especially for how long it took to come out. Once we received the bill we noticed that we were charged an event fee after having paid 20 each just to come in and sit. Overall the experience was not a very good one and I would not recommend coming to this space on a Sunday especially if you are looking for a fun, light brunch.

Yas Chicken is the latest addition to Boston's growing chicken market. We tried the chicken and waffles and were pleasantly surprised. First the waffles - eating the waffles I instantly thought 'these are special.' The waffles are incredibly crispy on the outside while still fluffy in the center. The waffles are hot and melt the powered sugar thats on them creating a slight glaze that's not overly sweet. Dipped in maple syrup these waffle quarters are simply heaven. The pieces of chicken are also impressive. Both my wife and I were shocked at the size of each tender. They are very big, thin, and crispy. Lots of flavor only added to by the smoky and tangy Yas sauce they're served with. I highly recommend Yas Chicken and wish they were closer so I could get it more often.

I ordered the chicken and waffles. They were absolutely amazing, but the waffles were deep fried and were a bit too much after a few bites. But the flavor was great
Victoria W — Google review
When I went, it was takeout only. Service was fine, the guys up front aren't friendly, but they're polite, efficient and professional - and that's actually great. The atmosphere is.....well now they allow people to sort of sit in the booths and just eat your takeout food. It's like what I imagine PF Chang's would have looked like inside in May of 2020 - a ghost of what was but might never be again. But doesn't matter. The chicken is just really really good, seasoned well, bold sauces, fresh. The tots are good - not greasy. Don't care for the fries though. They appear to be battered or coated in something.
Trei M — Google review
Ordered delivery. Crispy tots do end up a little soft from the drive over, but were still well seasoned and well apportioned for the price. I would consider sharing one order of them with a partner or friendly stranger. The Hot n Cold Sandwich is fine, but the Spicy Chicken Sandwich is far better. Good seasoning, good texture. The YAS sauce is very good.
Hunter N — Google review
Got "the suffering" chicken sandwich and it was everything I had hoped for. Sauce reminded me a lot of the BWW Carolina reaper sauce. Chicken was fried excellently, food was ready promptly, service was quick and efficient. Parking is not extensive but IS available on site. As of posting I do not believe there is an option to sit in and eat. Currently I give 4 stars as the food was terrific but the location is under a remodel so it was a bit confusing. Will definitely be back and will update review accordingly.

Crave is a trendy and relaxed dining spot nestled in Chinatown, renowned for its mouthwatering sauces that elevate your wing experience. Whether you opt for the 'Mad for Chicken' wings or drums, you'll find an array of spice levels to suit your taste—from the savory Mad (soy garlic) to the fiery Suicide (super spicy garlic). Their menu also boasts BBQ and classic Buffalo flavors, making it a must-visit for wing lovers.
The best smoothies and bowls I ever tasted! The owner is an amazing and chatty woman🩷. Great job! I can’t wait to come back 💚 Delicious!
Mirela M — Google review
The trainee making my smoothie bowl blended plastic into it. When I was eating the bowl I pulled multiple pieces of plastic out and I wouldn't be surprised if I ate some unknowingly. Thankfully the other worker on shift gave me a refund but I don't think ill be coming again anytime soon.

Women with Blonde Hair and Black shirt was extremely rude to me. The bowl tasted like dirt and also had a hair on the banana. We are on vacation and did not feel welcomed. I did not like the bowl they gave me and she proceeded to tell me there was nothing she could do about it. Only until I told her I would make a review about the service did she take my my food back. The new bowl that came out is not consistent. One reminds me of melted ice cream in the other reminds me of crushed ice. (See photo) Maybe they need to hire an extra hand handle the volume of customers there have.

We wandered along the wall @ Nantasket this Sunday morning with the waves and wind. After an hour, we wanted a break and a hot drink. We stopped in at Crave for hot lattes and a lemon poppyseed muffin; sitting in their comfy couches added to our relaxation. While we warmed up a bit, our black lab Sasha met some new friends. As customers came in, Sasha acted as a greeter for the business. Before we left, maybe as payment for her friendly greetings, the owner offered Sasha a 'pup cup' of whipped cream. She loved every sloppy lick of it! Thank you for a wonderful break.

I stopped by here with my kids. The staff was friendly and our order came up really fast. We ordered a bowl and three smoothies. They were all delicious. See pic.

Was staying at the Nantasket Beach Resort for a wedding and needed a good breakfast option for the bridal suite. The smoothies and bowls from Crave were a huge hit! I was able to order the day before for an early morning pickup the day of the wedding, got the email that they were ready, and the team had them all ready to go as soon as I walked in. Plus the smoothies and bowls were delicious!!!! Would highly recommend for other bridal parties using the hotel as their get ready location!

Nestled within the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course, Hemlock Grill is a delightful culinary destination that welcomes everyone, regardless of their golf skills. This charming eatery resides in a vintage 1930s clubhouse adorned with warm wood paneling and offers outdoor seating with stunning views of the lush fairways. Chef Alex Saenz has crafted a menu that features mouthwatering dishes like his renowned fried chicken sandwich and flavorful fish and chips, all at surprisingly reasonable prices for such quality fare.
Great food and service. Fried chicken is amazing so is the burger. My opinion pulled pork is just ok, not bad by any means tho.
Emily W — Google review
Pretty good hot chicken sandwich, good bit spicier than I expected. Breading was interesting, a bit more crispy like potato chips than say standard fried chicken so I was a bit on the fence about it. Friends loved the regular sandwich. There’s indoor and patio seating. Was mostly quiet, some music and golf TV in background but was a nice lunch spot to be able to hear conversation

The Hemlock Bar and Grill at Brookline Country Club is a true hidden gem! The food was outstanding—especially the jerk chicken, which was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of heat, and the prime rib was absolutely delectable, tender, and full of flavor. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, making it perfect for both a casual lunch or a special dinner. The staff were attentive and welcoming, adding to the overall great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back—this place is a must-visit!
Kawame C — Google review
This place is hands down the best fried chicken in the greater Boston area, and it's not close. They also make a great fish and chips, and an exceptional biscuit. Their green salad is pretty darn solid also. Never had a meal that was less than fantastic here.
Derek E — Google review
Really good! That's maybe the best chicken sandwich in the city! In addition, the fish sandwich is incredible. All around a great spot, especially in the nicer months when you can sit out on the patio and enjoy the golf. Hidden gem!
DJJ — Google review
Best fried chicken in the Boston area. BBQ isn't bad either. We went on a cold day and the fireplace was nice and warm. Definitely want to go back soon.
Phillip M — Google review
Came as a guest...not certain how one finds this place, but a place it IS! Group of us left an event at the park up the street a friend recommended a stop here...some how we landed in the parking lot across the drive and wandered into what felt like a large closet. YES, we serve food and a wide variety for the casual counter we're standing in front of. This appears to be a golf club food shack. Clearly, this venue is not run by the club; but, by restauranteurs who know the drill. Reading the reviews...seemed fair except their low hype and big delivery charmed us to returning and returning. Hemlock offers the best of all seasons...Food...Decks for the Summer afternoons and cozy fall vibe inside to drink the winters away...to get back on those decks.
George T — Google review
Great food. Fresh, delicious, friendly staff. This is the club house of a golf course. Driving range available, so a nice place to practice or play and have a nice quality meal after of before your round.
