1Villa Thida Mekong Riverside

Hotel
Villa Thida Mekong Riverside offers a pleasant stay with attentive staff and a convenient location. The hotel is situated just 100m from the main street and temples, making it easy to explore the area. While some rooms may not have certain amenities like towels, fridge, or electric kettle, the overall experience is positive. Guests can enjoy breakfast at a nearby riverside cafe with beautiful views of the Mekong River.
Enjoy my stay at this place. Old house turned into accommodation. Very polite staff in the reception. You can depend on him on any information and help you need regarding your stay and other plans. The breakfast was with a restaurant located along the riverbank. Recommended!
Roldan G — Google review
The hotel is across the street from the Mekong River, about 20 meters away. When you first arrive, the name of the accommodation is written in small letters on the door, which can be confusing. The hotel staff are very friendly, and the room is cleaned every day. Since it is close to the Mekong River, you can always go to great cafes and restaurants. A short walk from the hotel leads to the main road where the night market in the old town is held. Starting around 4 PM, vendors line up along the main road preparing for the night market. There is also a street market at the night market, so you can buy a variety of foods at cheap prices. When you enter the hotel room, you see a room made of wood, just like you saw on TV, and the deep reddish-brown wooden floor feels unfamiliar and familiar at the same time. The queen-size bed is very large and soft, and you fall asleep right away when you lie down. It was great that there was always hot water in the shower space separated by a glass wall, which was convenient for showering. I thought this hotel was very affordable, so I recommend it.
B.S. K — Google review
Nice basic room. Bathroom has no ventilation and has a funky smell. Other than that, no complaints. Free breakfast on the river is nice.
Xai S — Google review
It was OK... wouldn't return. The rooms are very basic and it felt dirty. The wooden floor is sooo slippery. Also the amount of moths at dusk that swamp the place inside the lobby, hallways and rooms was enough to scar me for life. I was hysterical I have no idea how it got into our room but there was 50 odd buzzing around everywhere. We didn't even have windows or doors open. They eventually went but I was so close to leaving the hotel then and there.
Hays — Google review
Well located, quiet, excellent shower. Good wifi and aircon, clean. One of the better guesthouses at this price point.
B W — Google review
Nice location, really close to restaurants and the main walking area. Rooms aren't great (also not bad)...service was more or less fine. Ultimately, this is a 2 star hotel in a nice location.
Luke F — Google review
Quaint little villa close to Mekong riverside and lots of restaurants and cafes. Our room was on the first floor, spacious, and came with complete amneties. The daytime manager was polite and very helpful in arranging tours and transportation. The breakfast is very basic, but the view and coffee makes it worth it. The housekeepers came and cleaned the room and changed towels everyday but i didnt see the change the sheets at all for 3 nights in a row, which was odd.
Tshering D — Google review
Location is great. Service was solid. Room may be bit old, but very well maintained and very clean. I liked all the old wood work. Hot water worked well, bit too well really.

Hotel
Merry Riverside Hotel is a hidden gem nestled in a small street, offering lovely Riverview rooms and spacious ensuite accommodations. The breakfast buffet provides a variety of options, but it's best to arrive early to enjoy them warm. While the hotel lacks an in-house restaurant, its location offers easy access to nearby dining options. Guests can also take advantage of the complimentary bicycles for getting around. The staff members are friendly and accommodating, providing excellent service throughout the stay.
We booked three nights- but ended up staying a whole week! Really nice and ne room with aircon and fan and hot water. One of the most comfortable bed we had so far on our travel trough Asia! And they also have a great buffet for breakfast which we enjoyed together with a nice river view! They also rent motorbikes. Recommended!
Lena G — Google review
This hotel is gorgeous. Set right on the riverfront, with lovely breakfast views. The rooms were spotless and modern. The beds were extremely comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful. All for such a cheap price! Would definitely stay again.
Anya B — Google review
This was the perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang. The staff was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL and made our stay so much easier and more enjoyable. Lo, Vonne, and another kind team member (whose name I sadly can’t recall) were incredibly sweet and helpful throughout our visit. Vonne even took the time to book our train tickets to Vang Vieng and helped arrange a boat trip to the Pak Ou Caves. Lo was so sweet and helpful and the other employee moved our bags back to our room before we returned from our Homestay. The rooms were spotless and beautifully designed, and had the BEST shower of our entire Southeast Asia trip. The beds were also extremely comfortable which hasn’t always been our experience. The breakfast was another highlight: a generous buffet spread with eggs, rice, fruit, bread, yogurt, coffee, and more with a stunning view of the river. It was such a peaceful and memorable way to start each day. They also offer same-day laundry service, which was super convenient. All in all, this place is a true gem. If we ever make our way back to Luang Prabang, we’ll absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!
L M — Google review
Merry Riverside was our first stop in Luang Prabang and it really set the tone with warm Laos hospitality. The staff are exceptionally friendly and kind, breakfast by the river was great with lots of choices, and the room was clean with a strong shower and hair dryer. Loved the relaxed vibe and the peaceful riverside setting.
Meisia C — Google review
Example, top-tier hotel. Always super clean and rooms seem to get serviced as soon as you leave. Front desk is always friendly and helpful; staff helped me carry my suitcase to my room which was so kind. Decent breakfast buffet. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone. IF you come during rainy season (July and August) do be careful and hold onto the railings as you walk; floors get slippery during rainstorms
Helen Z — Google review
One of the best hotels in Luang Prabang, clean, quiet and airy, located right next to the Nam Khan River. Spacious rooms, spacious and clean beds, enthusiastic and attentive support staff. Breakfast is delicious, diverse, many Vietnamese dishes. This hotel is a good choice for tourists when traveling to Luang Prabang, especially for Vietnamese people (the hotel owners are Vietnamese and very enthusiastic to support).
Phuc D — Google review
I had time to do some serious research on hotels and even viewed a few before I decided here. This is the best at this price range and also suits me best for its quality, comfort, quietness and away from huge tourist crowd. I’m very grateful for the kind, positive, helpful and friendly staff too.
Min Z — Google review
Our issue first: we paid for a room with a balcony, riverview and king- size bed, but we were given a standard double room; no riverview, no balcony. We raised this immediately but it was not resolved, perhaps due to language difference, perhaps, judging from other one-star reviews, because they overbooked the rooms. We received no money back. Our window was facing another hotel on the ground floor, so noisy in the mornings and we had to close the curtains for privacy during the day (no blinds). Now the rest: the place is clean, well located, the room was nice, the shower was a good pressure, the buffet was pleasant, the staff were nice and the view during breakfast was beautiful. It's a good place to stay, but you may not get the room you booked, especially as this event does not seem to be a one-off.

Villa Mahasok Hotel is located in the heart of Luang Prabang, close to popular sights such as Wat Aphay and Wat Visoun temples and National Museum. Room features traditional patterned fabrics and tile floors, some boasting their own balconies. Buffet breakfast is provided each morning in an appealing outdoor area complete with a pond and lily pads.
Absolutely loved my stay here and so happy I chose to book here. Such incredible value!Value for money is exceptional! Its so clean the pool is lovely and such a lovely setting. Staff are so helpful as well!
Kelly F — Google review
Nice little hotel close to the Main Street. We like being a little out of the central area but could easily walk to the night market in 10-12 minutes. 24 hour pool was great for late night swims. The staff were helpful in arranging Tuk Tuk drivers, laundry service and anything else we needed. Our favorite breakfast of any hotel in Laos by far.
Tarek H — Google review
Terrible hotel to stay in. The only reason it’s rated so good it’s because they threatening you to leave a good review. (They called me days after leaving a bad review and made me delete it) The location is not central, the staff is super rude and unwelcoming, the rooms are not very clean and the breakfast is bad. Edit after the hotel replied : I did stay at this hotel for 5 nights, I have payment confirmation and photos of the room I took myself. This hotel is a scam as you can see, they try to convince you that everything is good there, when they actually make you write the good things. No one should deal with those problems while in vacation.
Toni M — Google review
Very cosy hotel at around 10min from the night market. Rooms are spacious and every perfectly cleaned. Breakfast is fine but simple. Alex, at the reception is there every day to help you with all you need. Pool is nice too. Conclusion: Nice hotel for a stay of a couple of nights.
Lars C — Google review
The hotel overall is ok. The rooms are good, aircon worked reasonably well and the pool was excellent. The staff at breakfast couldve been nicer, nobody would say hello, felt a little awkward. The location was a little out of the centre, about a 10/15 min walk in the heat can be quite sweaty. We often had bugs in the room as well which wasn't ideal. But the hotel itself was ok... The reason for marking down was the tour to the waterfall. The hotel offers 100k (Laos kip) tickets to the waterfall which seemed a good price. We got on the bus to find 12 people crammed on a 9 seater for a bumpy 50minute journey. Approx halfway to the waterfall the driver pulled over and asked everyone for 60k, we weren't sure what the price was for a ticket so paid the 60k, we eventually got Internet at the waterfall and the price was 20k a ticket, so the driver had charged us 3 times the price. We confronted the driver and asked for our money back and he 'conveniently' couldn't speak English (did ok to ask for the money in the first instance). The money we lost isn't the issue, it is the fact we were scammed and was blatantly lied to when we brought it up. I wouldn't stay at Villa Mahasok again, mainly due to the dodgy tour operated from the hotel.
Lawrence H — Google review
We have stayed at this place for 3 nights. Staff is really cool and yes, they speak English. They’ve explained us where to buy sim card, where to change money, where to eat… We managed to joke and have conversation with all of them. Really cool young people. Ladies at the breakfast weren’t so fluent in English but always with the smile on their faces. Breakfast is really huge and you can choose between several options. Pool area is nice but at one day got little bit crowded. Location is good, around 10-15 min on foot to Night market and Mekong river, or if you have motorbike like we had, less than 3-4 min. Honestly I don’t understand why people are complaining about location (you can easily check this on gmaps before booking). Across the street is nice restaurant and little bit further down the street is supermarket. Value for money is really good and if ever again in Luang Prabang, very likely this would be our choice again. Thank you so much!!!
Víd D — Google review
This is a very nice hotel for the price. The rooms are clean and well kept but nothing special. The overall hotel is a beautiful setting with a nice pool. Located within walking distance of the night market and the morning market. The staff is wonderful and go out to their way to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. The only drawback is they don't speak English except for one gentleman. The breakfast is to order which is much nicer than buffet style IMO.
Brian R — Google review
Amazing. The room was very clean and the bed was big and comfortable! The staff are very friendly. Pool area and breakfast area both look great. They have a few options from the breakfast menu you can chose from which were great value for the price of the hotel, especially as there are not as many people around from Covid. Great hotel

4Thongbay Guesthouse Luang Prabang

Guest house
Nestled on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, Thongbay Guesthouse is a serene oasis offering picturesque views of the lush green garden and the beautiful Mekong River. The property features charming thatched-roof bungalows surrounded by palm trees and tropical plants, creating a tranquil atmosphere for guests. Visitors can enjoy delicious breakfast served on deck and take advantage of complimentary bicycle rentals to explore the town at their leisure.
We had an incredible stay at Thongbay! The whole team is very attentive and friendly, always there to help and make sure everything is going well ! The breakfast is very high quality and complete, brought to the room or the terrace by a lovely team. The manager was very nice, he hired scooters for us and bought bus tickets for our next destination. It's a real haven of peace and tranquillity, surrounded by vegetation. The room was very clean and well equipped. The location of the hotel is not a problem at all ! Bicycles and shuttles are available free of charge. In less than ten minutes you're in the centre! And you can even get there on foot, it doesn't take very long. It's worth being a little further away for the peace and quiet and the quality of service.
Audrey V — Google review
Nice place on the Nam Khan river. Rooms are dated but the atmosphere along the river is peaceful and serene. The main downside is that the rooms have no seal - you can hear conversations and sounds from far away. This was the only time we needed to use ear plugs during our 40-day vacation, with music playing past 2am and construction starting at 6am. Other guests were having problems sleeping. The price seems high for these kind of issues. Other than that, great service all around with free shuttles to the city center. I would just ask that the cleaning staff please don’t look in the room windows to check if we are there, but knock instead. They were peeking in at my wife and I while we were in bed without clothes on.
Honest T — Google review
Very quaint family run property - service was great and staff very kind. Very peaceful, lush setting. Daily breakfast options are simple, but we like that they served them at our villa balcony. The location was considerably more further out than we had anticipated, so I would’ve preferred to be more central. However, you are in a quiet peaceful location alongside the river which many will enjoy. Walking into town would be tough though given the heat. We tried it once and quickly circled back lol. The morning and evening shuttle services into town is great, however. The beds/pillowcases are admittedly not super comfortable, and I think the villas could really benefit from having true lounge chairs (where you can lay out fully) and ceiling fans (it can get extremely hot and there are a lot of mosquitos given the location) on the balconies. Overall, a charming, clean, budget stay that provides good value.
Peter P — Google review
This was the perfect stay - from the start being given welcome drink and a delicious chocolate cake and all the information we could need for our stay in Luang Prabang. We stayed in a river view villa- where we were served breakfast every morning which was delicious and running theme of the food here. On Christmas evening they hosted a special buffet meal with music and dance for all the guest staying where we felt very welcome and at ease. No pushiness to participate in activity at all just a sense of welcome to share in the meal. We ordered room service and it was perfect overlooking Mekong eating delicious food in peace . The layout of the resort is also lovely can wander through lush gardens and loads of little pockets to sit and relax and a spotless pool with loungers . What really makes this place stand out tho is every single one of the staff are really kind- always greeted with a smile and checking in to see if you needed anything. House keeping was also spotless fresh towels when needed. Don’t hesitate to book as the distance outside the center they have a shuttle bus available 6times a day. We chose to walk a few times and it was a breeze.
Miriam H — Google review
Excellent little resort. Beautiful property. The staff are very kind. I have not seen property this beautiful since Costa Rica. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, this is it. You can walk to town, you are in the local hood, I loved it. Mr. T, shown here, was very helpful, I thought he was the owner but he’s only staff, he is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He even acted as my translator and helped me with filing a police report when my stuff got stolen on the LCR train. I highly recommend this resort.
Matthew S — Google review
Comfortable room, with balcony facing the river, complimentary shuttle service several times a day to the city and excellent service! Mr T is very experienced and was always present at the entrance area every day, ready to help with any of our questions. His team are also friendly. Could feel that they sincerely want all guests to enjoy their stay. We stayed for 3 nights with our 2 kids in the River View Bungalow, booked with them directly via WhatsApp. Although this guesthouse might seem a bit further from the city compared to others, but the spacious room, great service and complimentary shuttle made up for it. Also, breakfast is served right to our room at our preferred timing every morning! Would definitely recommend them.
Kai — Google review
Excellent place. Very warm welcome and friendly staff. You don't just rent a room, but are really taken care of, in a very warm way. Nice authenic rooms with a terrace with view on the river. Free bike usage to explore the city (perfect way to do so), and a free shuttle service as well. They go the extra mile to ensure you have a good experience! We stayed in another hotel in Luang Prabang too, but this is by far better price/quality! Just another level. Strongly recommended!!
Thomas V — Google review
There are one or two things that can be improved at Thong Bay but they are trifling when compared to the location and the sumptuous gardens and taking your breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Nam Khan River. It is a little bit out of town but is easily walkable or take the hotel minibus.

Hotel
Villa Thavisouk Legend in Luang Prabang is a top choice for travelers, located just a 10-minute walk from the city center. Guests praise the helpfulness of the staff, with Kim and Tom standing out for their exceptional service. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and guests appreciate the convenient location near cultural venues and the night market. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, offering fresh fruits and organizing special celebrations like Songkran.
We stayed here for 3 nights and greatly enjoyed our time. Kim, the receptionist is an exceptionally lovey and kind woman, more than willing to help out wherever and whenever needed. The room was nice and clean, with all amenities needed. Tours and trips were booked easily and efficiently. We really would recommend this place to stay.
Nena P — Google review
Staff - speaks English well, very kind & helpful Location - great, close to night market and lots of local restaurants on the same street Room - breakfast looked great but I didn't eat there, went for local foo instead. I booked private standard room for $20 and it quite expensive once I saw the room (compared to other guesthouses I've been in). The room itself was very small. Doesn't look like photos - typical Laos building, more run down than in picture. Another reviewer said the toilet had awful sewage smell and I agree - it was very bad smell. They do provide towels, shampoo and soap - that was nice. Although they confirmed bedsheet are changed (horror stories of many places that don't change bedsheet between guests), there were stains on the sheet (I tried wiping it to ensure it wasn't a fresh stain). I had a bad experience with the intense smell of cigarette all night. Their lobby allows for smoking and the smoke dragged into the 1st floor. Also, first place I stayed in that does NOT have an additional lock on the inside (someone mistakenly tried to use their key to open my door at midnight 2x!!! Not a great experience but not the guesthouse fault. But it did make me worry there was no lock on the inside (all other guesthouse I stayed in has internal lock). Aircon is right above the bed made noises and also dropped water. Aircon does NOT work well - don't stay here if you're coming for HOT seasons. For February - aircon and fan for one night is ok. FYI they do not have luggage room - your bag simply stays with reception.
Truc M — Google review
We originally booked two nights at Elephant Boutique Hotel but were told on arrival that we would be moved over to Thavisouk Guesthouse (just for one night) due to overbooking. After some negotiation on our part we were allowed to stay for two consecutive nights here rather than be moved back and forth between places. Kim was not very sympathetic to our situation and made no effort to make our stay comfortable. As we had booked the slow boat on the day we were checking out we requested breakfast 15mins earlier than advertised (which was included in our stay). We were told this was not possible. While we waited for our transfer in reception Kim was very unhelpful and did not offer even as much as a glass of water. We had to request coffee multiple times. There were bowls of fruit already prepared in the fridge for 'breakfast time' after 0730 but it was padlocked shut. We did not feel welcome during our stay and would not recommend this Guesthouse for your trip to Luang Prabang. While the location is decent, the facilities were below par and I'm sure you could find somewhere more accommodating.
Maryanne H — Google review
Basic budget hotel with aging rooms and a mediocre breakfast. Polite staff, but limited amenities. About 10 min walk to main downtown street. Decent for short, no-frills stays.
Roman K — Google review
Very expensive for what you get. The WiFi is terrible, the cleanliness is lacking, and the walls are so thin that you can hear everything from outside—meaning everyone can also hear you inside. If you're unlucky enough to have a room near the breakfast area or main entrance, don't expect to get any privacy.
Kansser — Google review
Had a good stay! Kim is the best and speaks great English. She’s super helpful if you have any questions or need any recommendations . You are paying for a budget hotel so that’s what should be expected. AC and hot water are great. Beds are hard but everything is very clean. Breakfast was always so good! You get fresh fruit and juice or a coffee or tea.
Gabrielle B — Google review
I had a good experience at this place. For the price, the room was good and clean, the AC worked well, the staff was polite, and the breakfast was perfect. Thank you 🙏🏾

Baan Pila is a charming boutique hotel located away from the main street but still within walking distance to the night market, bars, and restaurants. The hotel offers carefully prepared breakfasts and spacious, individually decorated rooms that are cleaned daily. This newly opened 6-room boutique hotel features well-maintained facilities and spacious, thoughtfully decorated rooms with Lao fabrics and custom-made furniture. The attentive Lao staff provides impeccable service with warmth and kindness.
We really loved staying at Baan Pila. This little boutique hotel only has 6 rooms. We were staying in ‘mulberry’ room. It had nice and big covered balcony. The facilities are super clean (not what we experienced in other places in Laos), staff extremely friendly and reliable. We stayed over Christmas and the team was very thoughtful and even prepared a suitable gift for our little daughter. The whole place has super nice and chill flair. They put a lot of attention to detail. The breakfast was just amazing. Great value for money here all things considered.
Anton J — Google review
We have been staying the Baan Pila for 4 nights with our two kids. The staff of the hotel was extremely nice, supportive and helpful. Always approaching us with a smile and ready to provide suggestions. We had also to visit the local hospital and the staff was super helpful in that. The rooms are extremely well decorated and spacious. The products they offer in the room are of high quality. The breakfast was generous and made of home made quality products. I would definitely recommend to anyone to stay at this hotel, if you would like to have a cozy and boutique experience.
Giulia G — Google review
Arguably the nicest hotel we stayed in throughout our 3-month bag packing trip! Small boutique hotel, everything is beautiful decorated, even down to the smallest details. Our room was enormous! The service was incredible, each member of staff so delighted to greet us and help with any request. A particular thank you to Ms Phout and Ms Tanoy. The hotel has a small beautiful pool which was perfect to lie out in the sun. Location was excellent, plenty of shops and restaurant in walking distance, yet the hotel still feels safely tucked away from a main road. Lastly, the breakfast was simply stunning - excellent quality food! Thank you to the gorgeous chefs Ms Yong, Ms Ta & Ms Pong. The value for money is unmatched - could not recommend this hotel more!

Baan Pila is truly a one-of-a-kind hotel in Luang Prabang. The stylish decor immediately stands out, with each room designed around a different fruit theme. It’s cozy, welcoming and feels just like home from the moment you arrive. The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The breakfast is simply amazing! Whether you’re in the mood for Western classics or traditional Lao dishes, everything is of the highest quality and absolutely delicious. The location is perfect: just a short walk or bike ride from the center of town. Also the garden is really nice, with a hammock, comfortable seating area and a lovely pool where you can unwind after a day of adventures. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable stay in Luang Prabang, Baan Pila is the perfect choice!

The best hotel we stayed at during our four-week vacation. A beautiful house with lovingly furnished, spacious, and clean rooms. A delicious breakfast every day, which you can choose the day before. The staff is world-class, very friendly, and always helpful. Many thanks to Phout and the team for this unforgettable stay.

Excellent! I didn't want to leave :) Baan Pila is a historic mid-century bungalow, renovated with a keen design eye by a locally-based couple. Every detail - from beds to colors to decor to the lovely staff is 10/10. They have a wonderful breakfast, evening cocktails, a refreshing pool, and free bicycle rentals. The boutique hotels is located on a quiet street in the heart of town. The service is stupendous - and the space is incredibly clean and inspiring. Love love love.

We loved our stay at the Baan Pila, the staff owners location and Luang Prabang were fantastic. I have already recommended it to others and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Beautiful peaceful place

Genuinely one of the most amazing hotels ever! All the 5 star reviews are true! We stayed in the Mulberry room and it was stunning, lots of space, beautiful design and furniture, clean and a gorgeous outside balcony area. The breakfast was delicious, so many options, both Western and Lao. Every morning it was so good! Finally the staff are so helpful, they even brought a desk into my room as I had a meeting online! The staff speak perfect English and are so so helpful. I can’t recommend Baan Pila enough, truly an amazing hotel!

La nuit de Laos hotel is a stunning mansion turned into a family-friendly accommodation with plenty of amenities for kids, including babysitting services, a green play area, and entertainment options. The location is ideal, close to the river and activities yet tucked away from noise. The spacious rooms are well-maintained and bright. Manager Suni is known for her professionalism and prompt issue resolution. Guests appreciate the charming atmosphere, attentive staff, cleanliness, and excellent breakfast service.
My wife and I spent 4 nights here and absolutely loved it! The room was perfect, it felt like we had a whole apartment to ourselves. The shower was fantastic and can be turned to very hot if needed. The comfortable bed and new air conditioning unit gave us the best sleep here. Our host Suni, went above and beyond to look after us and helped us book all our activities and transport at a great price. The customer service was so good and all the staff were very friendly, the laundry service was done over night at a great price and the breakfast was excellent!! Best banana pancakes we’ve had. It’s also very easy to walk everywhere from here, at the end of the road is the Main Street where the night market is about a 5 min walk.

This place has become my go-to stay in Luang Prabang. The rooms are beautifully maintained—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The owner and staff are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The location is excellent, offering easy access to the city's main attractions, markets, and eateries. It’s a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Note that there is no swimming pool if you're looking for one. If you're looking for a welcoming and well-situated place to stay in Luang Prabang, this could be the choice.

Good spacious room, great A/C and a kitchen area + fridge. Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to most places you would want to see. Also close to shops, the night market etc. Would recommend for a stay in LP.
Katie C — Google review
Lovely owner and workers. Everyone was consistently friendly and attentive. The rooms are not fancy but they are comfortable. Best of all is that the a/c and hot water worked very well. The WiFi as a bit frustrating but I’m guessing that’s typical for this area. The breakfast was limited but tasty. The location is clean and close to everything. All in all, I’d recommend this place wholeheartedly.

We had a lovely stay. The air con was excellent, bedroom bright and spacious, and there was good water pressure in the shower. Lovely host who was happy to help us with everything we needed. We rented a moped through the hotel, which was really easy to organise. Breakfast was generous and good quality, bonus that this was included in our stay. We would recommend La nuit de Laos to anyone looking for somewhere quiet but is central to the night market and river.

August 2025 I have stayed here 3 or 4 times since 2023, and in about 30 other hotels in Luang Prabang. For around 400k per night, this is the best. Suni, the host, is excellent. Friendly and helpful. Room service is everyday and meticulous. Rooms are comfortable and clean. AC, wifi and showers are great. Will be back.

Good value for money for room ($22ish/night), 30k laundry. 5/10 minute walk into the main high street. Noisy construction next door atm (September 2025), obviously not their fault but worth noting.

I spent 5 nights here and it was lovely. room was spacious and super clean. the staff were amazing! the only thing to note is that there are construction sites around the building so it can get a little noise during the day. but at night it's so peaceful.

The friendly staff are always on hand to assist, making your experience even more enjoyable. Each morning begins with a delightful buffet breakfast offering warm dishes, fresh pastries, and pancakes—perfect for fueling up before exploring nearby attractions within walking distance.
I had a nice stay with them during the summer period ! Lisa and the crew was friendly and able to help with booking of trips or onwards transport. Room and bathroom is clean, also extended another night with them. They also serve hearty breakfast and the baguette actually tasted really good. Well located and conveniently access to surrounding places. Also provide you a map when you arrive which is helpful.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Golden Sun Boutique Hotel. The place was exceptionally clean, and both the staff and the owner were genuinely friendly and helpful. The location is great – close to everything, yet still quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was a nice touch, especially the banana pancakes – definitely a highlight! Overall, a well-run hotel that I’d happily recommend. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the breakfast and tour and transport options were excellent. The rooms were clean and well-designed. The location was ideal, situated in the heart of the old town, which is great, and also close to the picturesque Mekong River. The only downside was the extremely low water pressure, which could be significantly improved by installing a better water pump.
Björn F — Google review
Really enjoyable stay. Staff were lovely and helped us book our train and waterfall tickets. Rooms were comfy with good aircon. Breakfast was tasty too with a nice range of options included with the stay. Great location too being a minute walk away from the Mekong to see a lovely sunset every night. Would recommend and would stay again.
Rob J — Google review
I had a good stay here in Golden Sun. The lady receptionist gave a nice and complete intro and handed a print out of a hand-drawn map of the town detailing important sites and time when to see them. She gave locations of places where I could get a speed dry laundry and where I could rent bicycles as you need these if you want to enjoy the beauty of the town's rich architecture. The buildings is a mix of modern villa for guests and a traditional Lao house for the staff. Breakfast is a complete meal that will fill you until late for lunch: bread, eggs, bacon or noodle set plus 2 drinks (fresh fruit shake or coffee) and a plate of watermelon, banana, and pineapples. The rooms are adequate. The toilet needs a bit of improvement but is tolerable. AC runs very cold and the rooms I must say even if you dont turn on the AC are kept cold. Location is perfect - accessible to the main streets and near to the Royal Palace and near to the riverside on the other.
Kennet C — Google review
We had a nice stay at Golden Sun Boutique. Very nice location close to the Mekong and the morning / night market. Very nice family taking care of everything. The room has everything you need, the only negative point was very low water pressure in the shower. While I was here, I saved a kitten from the streets that was sick and was missing an eye, I took care of her for a few days and the family was ok to keep her. If you see her ( a tortoise small cat with a red collar ) it’s her!!! Please give her A LOT of love ❤️❤️❤️ And if you see her feel free to send me pictures on Instagram : @lea.rivera_ 🌈 I really would love to make sure she is ok 🥰

Location is very good, near to night market and other tourist attraction. Staff also friendly, very nice. Rooms are ok, as per the price. No problem staying here for 4 days.
Charu D — Google review
EVEN DURING THE HOLIDAYS, PAYING $100 FOR ONE NIGHT (2.5 TIMES HIGHER THAN USUAL) IS TOO EXPENSIVE CONSIDERING WHAT I RECEIVED. The place looks good in the pictures and reviews, but the room's furniture is older than shown in the images, and some items are useless. The shampoo and shower gel have probably not been used for a long time and have not been replaced. The quality of the furniture and toiletries is very poor. The air conditioner is old, there is no heating function, and is very loud when running. The mattress and blanket are not warm enough, making it very cold, so I didn’t sleep well. It would be acceptable if you only paid around $40, but I don’t recommend choosing this place during the holidays. I feel like I got ripped off. The good things are the staffs are friendly and helpful. And the location is great while it's close to the night market and other famous places.

Nestled along the banks of the Mekong River, Villa Alounsavath Mekong Riverside offers a charming retreat in Luang Prabang. This delightful bed & breakfast is conveniently located just a short stroll from key attractions like UXO Laos Visitor Center and Vat Visounnarath, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. Housed in a beautiful French Colonial building, this quaint hotel exudes character and warmth, despite its vintage charm that may lack some modern amenities.
WOULD 10/10 RECOMMEND, I don’t usually leave reviews but we were amazed by the value for money we got during our stay here. Our room was so cosy and clean and staff were very kind and so helpful. Not to mention the lovely breakfast location right on the river.
Maia D — Google review
Quaint small hotel right on the Mekong River. Within walking distance of downtown, the night market and the morning market. Built in a French Colonial building it has its charms. But because it is an older building it does not offer some of the features of modern rooms. That is part of the charm. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. They offer motorcycle and bike rentals and tour bookings
GREG M — Google review
Booked this guesthouse given the Riverside location however we could not have been more disappointed. We booked a Riverside panoramic room. The room was noisy with very poor insulation so could hear every single car that passed on the road. Also despite supposedly having a Riverside view this was all blocked by the trees so no view of the river. The bathroom had mould and was not cleaned properly. Breakfast was not edible and eveeything was cold. Also curtains did not cover the windows so people could see in from outside. To top things off the service by the gentleman at the reception desk was very poor and it felt like he was doing a favour to us by answering any questions. Definitely not worth the money we paid. There are so many better and cheaper options in the city

These people are absolutely awesome!! This was an excellent stay. They go above and beyond to take care of you. They serve a free breakfast that is native to the area and is excellent!! The rooms are cozy and have a really good AC. It's in an excellent location and we highly reccomended it!!

Great location and friendly staff. The room was okay, but you'll find better for less. Furniture is rather old. The level of cleanliness was okay and the small balcony in our room was a nice feature. The breakfast is served in the open-air restaurant facing the Mekong River – very beautiful. However, the selection of food is rather limited.

Our stay at this property was truly exceptional—one of the best we've experienced in all of Southeast Asia! The location was perfect, the service was outstanding, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. Our room was not only comfortable but also impeccably clean. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier stay in Luang Prabang.
Mackenna E — Google review
I normally don’t leave reviews for hotels I’ve stayed at, but this experience was far below expectations, especially considering the price I paid for a Deluxe Twin Room. First of all, my name wasn’t on the check-in list, which caused some confusion. We were given a room on the ground floor without a balcony — which was acceptable — but several issues made the stay very disappointing: 1. The door was difficult to open and close, and there was a noticeable gap at the top that didn’t seal properly. 2. There were many moths in both the room and bathroom. 3. A strong unpleasant odor lingered in the room, seemingly coming from the bathroom due to a poor sewage system. To make things worse, I found out that the current room rate on Agoda is now only half of what I paid when I booked three months ago — USD 20/night (THB 700) compared to the USD 50/night (THB 1,700) I was charged.

Lotus Corner Luang Prabang B&B in Laos is a recently renovated vegan and plant-based bed & breakfast located just 10 km from Luang Prabang International Airport. The B&B offers airport shuttle services and bicycles for rent, making it convenient for guests to explore the area. Guests have praised the spacious and beautifully designed rooms with fantastic AC, powerful hot showers, and lovely soaps provided.
That is beautifully place, we was nice stay, small but clean room, city center and near by many places for visit. Also my friend can take some photo infond the hotel building. Recommend!

The place is nice enough. Great location, rooms are fine BUT there is no vegan cafe anymore & the free breakfast is very basic. Service is ok, but the reception is rarely staffed. Great location, a bit over priced. No vegan food
Matt W — Google review
Nothing vegan about this place! I don’t understand why they pretend to be… So please don’t bother yourself to go here if it is because of the vegan or plantbased naming. Everything in the breakfast consisted egg or milk or both, except for the jam. They didn’t even had coffee (only hot water with nestle powder, which I cannot call coffee). I end up eating some melon pieces with tea. Kinda disappointing. Furthermore, room was fine and clean, but no fridge or so. Bed was good. Bathroom a bit small, but fine, good shower (hot), and indeed disposable soap bar (instead of the refillable dispenser). Stayed here September 2024
Lisa S — Google review
The hotel is nice, room is good, too. The pillow a little bit to high for our head. But the service is terrible, the employees didn’t know what to do, from booking to renting I had to do on my own. The location is perfect for the river, night market and the pagoda. Will have a big concern if I’m coming back or sharing with my family.
DangoMilkz — Google review
We didn't stay at the hotel, just visited the cafe for breakfast one morning during our stay in Luang Prabang. We went there as the closest wholly vegan cafe to where we were staying and we were not disappointed. My husband, daughter and I all had the chocolate crepes which were delicious, especially with the mango compote. I was slightly disappointed they didn't have the French toast but the guy serving us was quick to let us know what wasn't available, it was Sunday morning and they didn't have deliveries that day, so we knew what we could have. Service was a little slow but, we were not in a rush so it was not an issue.

This has by far been one of the nicest stays since we’ve been travelling. The room is gorgeous, spacious and fantastic AC. The shower is powerful and hot with lovely soaps provided. The owner is so helpful and attentive and all the staff we have interacted with have been lovely. We’ve been given many recommendations for food, drinks, tours and more - even helping me find somewhere to volunteer. The food is also delicious. Even if you’re not vegan, you must try their food. I had vegan omelette and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was and so similar to egg. The coffee was also divine. We loved lotus so much that we extended our stay! It’s the first time since backpacking (on our honeymoon) that we’ve felt comfortable and almost at home in order to relax! This is also a great spot for watching the morning Alms too! Definitely recommend!!!

Lovely vegan hotel, great location (especially for morning alms), quiet, hotel setup is very nice. Loved the big towels and warm shower! Handy small fridge in room. Owner Camille is very attentive and helpful, staff all very nice. Menu is fab, so happy there are vegan options in LP! Also great that they try to use as many local products as possible & display local artists.

We stayed for 10 days at Lotus Corner, and it was lovely! Camille is a great host, has great suggestions and tips, and really went out of his way to help us with some issues we were having. All the staff were really nice and friendly. We truly felt at home during our stay. The historic building and its rooms are very beautiful and they are situated in a beautiful and quiet part of old-town. Would recommend!

Indigo House is a contemporary boutique hotel located in the heart of Luang Prabang, just minutes away from the morning and night markets. The hotel's design incorporates traditional Lao elements with a modern twist, featuring a fresh blue and white color scheme and local textiles. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and relax at the ground floor cafe offering homemade cakes and bread. The rooftop dining area provides a nice spot to unwind, although the menu is somewhat limited.
We loved Indigo house, the location is fantastic right on the night market Street, with a lovely little foodie Alley next door to the hotel. It was central for everything we needed. The staff are excellent and a really really helpful. There was a number of choices for breakfast and we enjoyed it every morning. There was plenty of food on offer. There is a bakery attached the hotel which sells pastries which were delicious. Our bed was very comfortable and there was shutter block out the light. It was an open plan room with the sink as part of the room and a room for the shower and toilet off of the room. The shower was concrete with some tiles on it which was the only thing we felt let down our room. We had to go up one flight of stairs to reach our room which never bothered us,going up two more flights of stairs came to a lovely restaurant which was outdoors overlooking the market. We didn’t eat there but we did have a drink in the evening.
Claire C — Google review
Location: the hotel is IN the night market street. The night market starts 80 meters before this hotel location, which means you may need to carry the bags for that distance. We had booked transport by the hotel, so the taxi driver helped out. So, of course, the hotel is close to everything, and inside the UNESCO Heritage City. Service is slow. Limited menu. Food is okay. The pastries were great. Pastries are sold in the bakery outlet that they set up every evening. Rooms: walk up the staircase. We had 3 rooms, one of them had no bathroom, just a bathtub on one end of the room, not even shower curtains or shutters. They should also provide furniture such as a chest-of-drawers or wardrobe.
Rahul — Google review
A really great hotel. Rooms well decorated with massive stone bathtub. Comfortable beds, clean rooms. Perfect location right next to the night market and yet rooms completely silent. Walking distance to everything in the town. Staff were friendly and helpful with booking transfers or giving info. Monks/alms occurs right in front of the property in the mornings. And the breakfast is top notch! Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Great location, night market is downstair. Couple of issues are you gotta order breakfast and the WiFi was doesn’t connect at all in room 101. I gotta sit inside the toilet room for the WiFi it connect.

Place at great location but the rooms were not upto the marks compared to the prices. The place have great bakery items but all were too sweet so it depends upon one’s taste. Service was slow but plenty of food available. Lot of pastries and sweet items. At night they display everything outside for street market. You need to carry the bags around 90 mtrs if you arrive during evening time when market is open as taxis are not allowed. So keep in mind and plan accordingly.
Singh G — Google review
Very friendly & helpful workers. Ran out to help with my bags from the train shuttle. Bakery & Coffee Cafe tasted great, while breakfast had a lot of choices & great taste. Location fronting Night Market while 3rd floor restaurant had tasty food & nice view.

Our family ate at the lovely rooftop restaurant and bar a few times during our visit. The staff is absolutely lovely and they accommodated our needs really well. Food is very well prepared and delicious and not greasy. They adjusted the spice levels as per the needs of our children (as a lot of local dishes use green chillies). You can watch the sunset and the night market while enjoying the breeze. Highly recommended as its the tallest building in LP and offers a different view.

We were welcomed with a glass of tropical fruit juice and a room boasting a direct view of the lily pond. The rooms here are beautifully and luxuriously designed, with exceptionally comfortable beds and a peaceful ambiance. We received attentive care from the staff, who greeted us with smiles at all times. I highly value the prompt service and reasonable pricing. Breakfast was basic, but I particularly enjoyed the coffee.
Christian M — Google review
The experience could have been better. When you’re on vacation, you expect to find a place to rest and relax; however, the hotel is under construction, and I was woken up every day by the noise of hammering and banging. Breakfast was accompanied by the same noise. In addition, there was a bad smell in the bathroom, probably due to the plumbing. On another note, we booked the tuk-tuk service through the hotel, and it was not a good experience. The driver didn’t wait for us on the way back, we waited for him for half an hour, and he never showed up. We had to hire another one from the waterfalls. They said they would give us a discount for the inconvenience, but we were charged the full price for the outbound trip. The laundry service also left much to be desired. Our clothes were returned unpressed, poorly folded, and damp. However, I must highlight the service from the staff, who were very friendly. The hotel will probably be lovely in about a year once construction is finished, but for now, I wouldn’t choose it again.
Narella P — Google review
I should have read recent reviews before staying here: Construction noise pre 7am until the evening Construction also means the only entrance is through a walking alley, next to the huge pile of contruction debris and trash. If you have multiple bags and/or kiddos, its not horrible but not practical Massive amounts of Construction and trip hazards Patio bar thats hovering on the edge of property has a PA system that goes until 11pm.. so your window to sleep is there, but fit it in because not a chance all day otherwise My bed was broken in first room, shower didnt work in the new room. No safes. Small fridge on floor I left a day early, of a 2 day stay. They need to consider guest experience... The staff are are smiling but cmon, you can't call yourself an Oasis with how horrible the conditions are!.. And then theres breakfast, ice cold eggs and some sliced hot dogs are the main staples. Iced latte tasted of 2 day old coffee with come milk and a feeble attempt at foam. Prison food has to be better
D P — Google review
The location of this hotel was great, it was tucked back enough you don’t get the busy road noise, there are only a few sun loungers by the pool however we never struggled to get one, the staff were very helpful and tentative and the rooms were very clean. The only negative is that the breakfast isn’t the best, it’s sometimes cold as the warmers don’t keep it super warm and the variety runs out fast if you go to eat at the morning rush.

Chitlatda Central Bila House is a cozy bed and breakfast located just a short drive from Wat Ho Xiang in Luang Prabang. The property offers Wi-Fi access and nearby parking. The owner, who speaks English fluently, is known for being very accommodating to guests' needs. While the rooms are clean and well-equipped with functioning AC and fans, some minor maintenance issues have been noted by visitors.
It's exactly like the pictures. Amazing guest house. You get your own room with toilet. He has a fan and exhaust. You can pay extra for AC. The host is super friendly and helpful and can speak English. At night, they let you park your scooter inside. Breakfast is really good. I recommend the banana pancakes or the noodles with eggs. They got all kind of services laundry tours, motorcycle rentals, taxi bookings and free shampoo and body wash and a drinks fridge, and hot water kettles around the clock. And the location is amazing, honestly.

Caution: 1) They use their own exchange rate (which was ridiculous, not based on anything). They were extremely rude in their communication about it ("I can cancel your room" etc.) 2) After placing this review the owner texted me via my private number (something about no regard for privacy..) in a negative way. If this isn't bad enough he also texted my partner in a sarcastic manner. That's says enough... Furthermore the bathroom overflowed. The A/C was leaking. All tours and scooter rental are expensive compared to others in town. Location is okay. In summary wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. P.s. If the owner replies to this review in the same way he did when we were there; you are in for a treat.

The location is the only great point about this place (my boyfriend also liked the breakfast even tho my pancake was burned😅) 20€ for a room with AC broken (making crazy loud noise) & the shower fell on the head of my boyfriend (it was not even really hot…) We tried to ask for renting more stays as we just arrived and didn’t know where was better and asked if by taking train tickets with transportation from them, a scooter + 2 more nights (3 in total) they would make us a little price difference to be fair and they stated very strongly « no, if you don’t take it for the price other people will » like tourists are 🐦😅 + we walked 5min and found a better place to stay for half the price + found out that the train tickets also cost much less usually so they were not fair at all!

Advice: If you get a private room, pay direct to the hostel and don’t book on Agoda, as it’s cheaper. Don’t do your laundry here as underwear will go missing - I lost 4 pairs of underpants. Pros: The room was cleaned daily. The price was reasonable for walk in customer. The problems I had you’d likely have at most accommodation in Laos, and they made an attempt to fix them. Cons: Hot water only worked half of the time. Cockroaches came in through the toilet. I did laundry here and had several underpants go missing, which is apparently a common issue in this dishonest country. They used a very poor exchange rate when paying in kip instead of USD. I would suggest booking elsewhere.

We stayed here for 4 nights and really loved it. The staff are super kind and friendly, took care of our laundry, and offered us a great local restaurant recommendation. Each day we were given fresh towels, soap refill, water bottles. It's a great location too!

Very nice guesthouse run by a very nice Vietnamese man who speaks English well. Rooms were clean and the AC and fan worked well. Super cheap breakfast which was appreciated each morning 👍 Do be aware that like many places here in Laos if you book online in dollars they can make up their own exchange rate. I thought I booked online for $65 but I had to pay at the hotel, and was given an exchange rate of 26000 = 1USD which is outrageous and would have cost me and extra $11 USD. Luckily I asked the owner and let me use my credit card for a 3% fee which was an extra $2 vs $11. Make sure you book hotels in Laos in LAK to avoid this!!!

Hostel
Nestled in the heart of Luang Prabang, DownTown Backpackers Hostel offers a cozy and unpretentious atmosphere perfect for solo travelers and backpackers alike. While the dorms are simply furnished, they provide a comfortable stay with fantastic amenities like free breakfast, tea, coffee, and WiFi. The hostel's prime location places you just steps away from vibrant morning and night markets as well as major attractions like the National Museum.
The good: Location, price. The bad: Staff are honestly lazy/do not care about cleaning the place at all. I ended up emptying garbage bins and cleaning the sink myself after 2 days, then miraculously they scrubbed all the sinks which I found funny. Breakfast is usually a loaf of bread with some jam spreads, on the first day we were given a moldy loaf like very moldy, nice! The day before apparently they served pancakes and then my entire stay there was no pancakes and I was denied one after asking even though a woman was given one after requesting the day before, also nice! Not sure if they were waiting for all the people that checked out to clean or were embarrassed that I was doing their job but at least they did something after 3 days. I will say they did sweep the rooms but dirty toilet paper was left to sit for days and days. Air con is shut off at like 4 or 5am which is a bit drastic. Overall the location and price outweighs the bad, also there is a pool table which is cool. Always go to the station to book your bus tickets yourself, hostels always charge you a premium. I would stay again to be honest just because it is cheap and anywhere in Laos costs way too much for accommodation.

Whatever you do do not stay here. We thought we got a really good hostel in a prime location but we should have read the reviews first. We arrived and everything was good we went to bed and woke up the next morning covered in bites, we checked the bed and there were bed bugs, we also saw another man who checked out early because of bed bugs in his bed too. I then went to shower before going to the waterfall, I turned the water on and the smell that came from it was disgusting, it smelt like pee. We have it the benefit of the doubt and decided to use another bathroom to brush our teeth and all of the water out of every sink came out smelling the same. We also checked in at 1 and the owners left not long after to go to the capital leaving one man unable to check in and also meant that we had no aircon the entire night as they are the ones that control it. There is an aircon ban and it’s only allowed on from 8pm to 8am which is fine, if it was actually on. We couldn’t even go to reception to ask for it on because there was no one there (it is advertised that reception is open until 10pm). We were meant to be here 4 days and left after the first night, would not recommend, don’t waste your money

If you're after downtown convenience, budget comfort, and don't mind a bit of dorm-room adventure, Downtown Backpackers is a solid pick with major perks like breakfast and location. But if you're sensitive about theft, picky about cleanliness, or need reliable transport support, consider locking valuables tightly or choosing a more polished option.
Yаптѳ G — Google review
Busses from here are a scam, do not book transport departing from here. The bus booked from 12go Asia did not show up, another couple who booked a different bus were also stranded. After 1.5 hours of waiting we had to fix different transport. No receptionist available and the person that was walking around the hostel just ignored us and didn't even try to help.
W. V — Google review
Don't book a bus here with 12go it's a scam. Booked a bus with 12go but it never showed up. Were told we'd get a cancellation email but never came through, and 12go not giving us a refund option. Staff no English, number on 12go booking non responsive (we don't even know if it exists)
David R — Google review
Do not trust busses departing here, even 12go Asia. After being there 40 minutes early and waiting until 1.5 hours after the planned departure time there was still no sign of the bus even existing. Hotline does not pick up and the hostel staff does not seem even remotely interested in the whole situation and simply walks away
DutchMonky — Google review
DO NOT TRUST 12GO ASIA BOOKINGS DEPARTING HERE. They will not contact you but after waiting for 1.5 hours there is still no sign of the bus. the hotline does not pick up and the hostel personell simply walks away if you ask a question
Not I — Google review
Can't speak for the hostel itself, but we booked a bus that never showed up and the lack of communication between the people working there and the "owner" was abysmal. We got the same phone number for the 12go booking and from the receptionist and they ignored our messages and calls whilst replying to them only. Again zero information or solutions were given. Would not recommend this place for anything

Nestled in the heart of Luang Prabang, Villa Namkhan River is a charming B&B that offers guests an ideal base for exploring the city's vibrant attractions. Just a leisurely stroll away from the Night Market and Mount Phousy, and within close proximity to Wat Xieng Thong, this delightful accommodation ensures you’re never far from local highlights. The villa boasts spacious rooms equipped with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and flat-screen TVs for your comfort.
We loved our stay at Villa Namkhan River. We had the family room and even if you are a couple I recommend booking this room. Great space, usable balcony and great view over the river. Also great shower. The location of this accommodation is also perfect. There are great places to eat, close to top spots, and even a great location for runs if you are keeping active while you are away. The breakfast was good too. Thanks Lam and family and team for your great hospitality. Btw there is also two pools to cool off in.
K L — Google review
This hotel was recommended by a friend, but I was not very happy with the management or the room. At first, they told me there were no rooms available, but when I showed them that Booking.com listed a single room as available, it suddenly was. The air conditioning in the room didn’t work very well, and one of the windows had no curtains. The room is also located right next to the kitchen and the reception, so the noise and smells can disturb your sleep. This should be taken into account, and for this reason, I think the room should be cheaper. I paid 20 dollars at the time, but compared to other hotels in the neighborhood, this is too expensive. Also because there are no curtains the sun and the heat wakes you up in the morning. The next day, I asked to change rooms, but again, they said there were no other rooms available, even though Booking.com showed otherwise. The staff’s limited English made communication difficult. On the positive side, the breakfast was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the location is perfect.

This is perfect for spending all your time visiting the sights of Luang Prabang. It is central, super clean and safe. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The rooms are clean but beds a little hard. The breakfast is simple yet tasty. Milo the dog is the cutest ever! I would definitely recommend it this hotel but there is no pool. I think the photos may be of a similar hotel.
Helen M — Google review
I'll caveat by saying this room is great, as is the location. The 1 star is for during our entire 3 days, none of the staff even looked at either of us. The rudeness was off the scale. I even left my bag for a few hours on the last day. When I went to collect, I greeted 2 staff on the front counter and said I needed to collect my bag. They didn't even pick their heads from their phones, let alone give a response. Eventually, I just walked behind them to pick up my bag and left. In silence. Also, breakfast is supposed to finish at 10. We arrived the first morning at 9.50 as we don't like to eat early. I was told that the kitchen is closed, of course. No apology. Just a dismissive hand waving. Don't expect any level of service, but the rooms are decent and it's good value.

Terrible management. Recommendations for the owners: 1. Warn people that there is loud construction work next door before booking 2. If two nights are booked, don’t make guests move rooms half way! We booked to stay here for two nights (booked several days in advance and confirmed on Agoda). When we arrived we were first greeted by the sounds of a massive construction site next door, and then by a staff member (manager?) who told us that we would have to move rooms after our first night, meaning we would have to re-pack all our bags after one night and move to another room in their sister hotel next door and unpack again. Fair enough if they notified us at our time of booking, but they didn’t. After initially being told there were no other options, and then some negotiating, we were assigned a room where we could stay for both nights (so magically it is possible after all). The construction work next door was really loud! Again, would have been ok if they wrote that on their booking platforms to give people a warning so they can make the decision if they want to tradeoff a reduced price with the sound of jackhammers and chainsaws all day. Mind you, it is the low season and there are plenty of other hotels cheaper in town. The next day, the electricity was cut off to the hotel complex. It happens. When we enquired about the situation, the staff told us that the whole neighbourhood was cut off and they don’t know when it will be back on. We decided to head to a cafe to do some work from there. On the way there, we noticed that every single other hotel and shop on the same street and in the neighbourhood had electricity! We went back to the hotel office to speak to the “boss” about the electricity issue. They reiterated that the whole area doesn’t have power and it’s out of their control. At that point (in their office located on the same block as the hotel), I noticed that their electric ceiling fan WAS magically working haha. I pointed this out to the manager who happened to be standing underneath it, and he sheepish turned it off and mumbled something indiscernible. Anyway, they said the power’s off, blamed it on a fire somewhere in the city the day before, and said it will probably be off until the evening. By late afternoon, more guests started complaining - literally lining up to complain! The only person available to talk to was the youngest staff member, who was actually really apologetic and friendly. Nevertheless, after more guests started complaining, the power magically came back on a few minutes later!! (A little sus since the hotel seemed to be the only one suffering from a power outage). The management and boss were quite rude throughout the entire process.

For the low price we paid, we got the basics and a pool. This is the good part. So again: the good thing is that it has an ok pool and the basics ( fridge, some shower gel, towels). The breakfast is ok-ish. The prices of the extra services (transfer to waterfalls and airport) seem good. The bad things: there were some unclean spots on the ceiling and on the corners of the floor, there are also some maintenance needed in the room walls and in the pool deck. We could ear some music from the bars around at night. Also at night didn't seem to have someone at the reception and there is some exposure to the street, so I wasn't feeling super rested and safe, but at the end of our 3 nights there, everything was ok.

Great, clean rooms. The bed and shower are really good. The staff are lovely and helpful. Location is perfect. Breakfast was simple but decent. I would stay here again when I visit Luang Prabang.

The location should get extra points. Right outside was morning market, few steps away was night market, few minutes walk and you'd get to the foot of Phousi Hill. Also, lot of eateries around. The central location was perfect. Also, the staff was well spoken and tried to assist in every way they could whenever I asked for help. They proactively gave suggestions for places to visit and how you can get around. The place was also very well maintained and clean. If I asked, they'd clean the room everyday. The breakfast was also very good. Another thing I liked is that, they had blocked the gaps of the door to prevent insects from getting inside. It was a boutique style hotel and it really felt like I was at my house and not a hotel.

I've been traveling in the Asia for two months, not in luxury hotels, of course, but this is the worst experience I've had. No complaints about the place or the room—the issue is the bed, which is hard as a rock, and the pillow, which felt like sleeping on a stone. The worst night in the East so far. Improvement needed.

Location Location Location. The morning Market is outside the hotel. The night market is around the corner. One of the main Buddhist monasteries is across the street - easy less than 1 minute walk to witness the monk alm procession in the morning aroun 5:30-6:30 am. There are no bars or night clubs nearby. The place is super quiet. The room we booked, second floor with windows, was very comfy, super clean and quite roomy for a small B&B. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast was good. We stayed here for 6 nights. The use of Google Translate comes handy sometimes. Otherwise, speak slowly.

Guests praise the clean rooms, strong air conditioning, and refreshing pool with perfect temperature. The manager, Kung, receives high praise for his exceptional hospitality and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay.
This hotel and the management and staff is a gem! Incredibly helpful, whether to organise excursions, advise us on restaurants, or to help us when we all got influenza and one of our kids needed immediate care. This hotel is one of the best managed we have encountered in our 2 years of world tour!!! And to top it up, the pool is clean and fresh but not too cold, and the rooms and beds are spacious and comfy. AC worked perfectly. Thank you for everything, Kong!!!

We loved our stay here so much. The rooms were incredible spacious, the bed was comfy, there was a balcony to sit on and a swimming pool (we unfortunately haven’t used that). Breakfast was amazing and diverse (think pancakes, sandwich, eggs with bacon or sausage, pho etc.). Not even talking about the juices they have available, all delicious! They have a few bikes and bicycles for rent and can help you book activities (think about a sunset rivercruise, workshops like pottery baking etc.). And the staff here is so incredibly friendly and sweet. Always willing to help you out and answer your questions. My partner left his creditcard in a nearby ATM, and a staffmember called the bank to make sure it was there and we could pick it up. We ended up rebooking this place three times on our travels because we loved it so much.

Lovely stay at meunna boutique hotel. We‘ve got a welcome drink and the staff informed us about everything. Lam & the whole team made our stay absolutely comfortable. Always they have had a smile on their face. You can buy SIM cards incl installation. We‘ve got support how to use the local post service. The rooms are clean, big and have a cozy bed. The pool is clean and big enough to enjoy swimming. The hotel is in 2nd row. So you hear absolutely nothing. Breakfast is delicious and fresh made by the lovely kitchen team. 100% recommendation

The hotel was such a great place to stay in Luang Prabang. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the Night Market. It is quite, right off the street and it is a smaller hotel was the staff was super friendly, helpful, and attentive. Lam, the day receptionist is a gem. She is so polite, helpful, and knowledgeable about the town.

Lovely clean room with a large shower and modern furniture. Big safe box, kettle and fridge in the room. Free cotton buds, shower cap and toothbrush. Free water, basket of snacks for a small fee. Small desk and chair. Pool is well kept and clean. 5 sunbeds with towels and one umbrella by the pool. Laundry service is 1,3€ per kilo. Room was cleaned every day! Very welcoming and sweet staff! Cons: Showerhead sprays in all directions - it should be fixed and cleaned. Breakfast sometimes lacks salt (eggs) and be very dry (pancake, fried rice). On the last day we had to check out before breakfast and were promised some sandwiches for the road, but unfortunately never got them.

I would highly recommend staying in this guesthouse. The rooms are good quality, stylish and clean. They have a good environmentally friendly set up - they give you water on arrival and you can refill those bottles in the machine downstairs, so there is less plastic waste. For cleaning they offer every day, but only do it on request so that saves on laundry. The Internet was good enough to stream a video. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and the breakfast in the morning was delicious and cooked to order - I had the American breakfast which included coffee (or tea), juice, mixed seasonal fruit, eggs to order, croissant and a roll with jam and butter. There were also 2 other choices, including a local breakfast. It is also possible to book tours and transport. I stayed for 7 nights and if I am ever in Luang Prabang again would definitely stay again. The only thing that would be nice is to have a kettle in my room.

The guesthouse offers a good view of Nam Khan River and provides comfortable rooms with proper AC and warm showers. The friendly owners go out of their way to ensure guests have a great stay, offering helpful recommendations for places to eat and drink nearby.
Stayed here twice now and Fam the owner is lovely and she kindly organised scooters , tuk tuks and train tickets for me during my stays . Basic breakfast , decent rooms , (maybe could do with a fridge) but set back off the road, so in a fairly quiet area and also with some nice seated chill out areas in the garden. 10 minutes walk to night market/centre . There are also a few local restaurants and shops just around the corner. I enjoyed my stay here .

The hotel has a spacious and beautiful courtyard, and the staff is friendly. The rooms are small but clean and cozy. Outside, there is a swimming pool and plenty of seating for relaxation, conversation, and work. Breakfast offers four options, all of which are bread-based—decent, but it gets a bit repetitive after three days. The location is not too far from the Old Town, making it convenient for sightseeing. However, the water pressure is quite weak in the morning, and the hotel amenities are somewhat lacking. If I return to Luang Prabang, I might still consider staying here.

Oh wow recommended, next to good food and close to Lao Disco. What else does any sane fun loving kind and adventurous person need?? Its a very local and the more rustic area of Luang Prabang. Personally I prefer this to the Riverside where It is just OVER touristy. Excellent hotel. You can change your money at the reception. They have a few restaurants next door with amazing steamboat and fried rice. The rooms were clean (we booked 3), toilets super clean, and definitely not noisy. Excellent stay for a small price. 👌

Very kind staff, very clean, nice breakfast (baguette, jM & butter, egg & bacon, fruit, tea or coffee). It’s very quiet in the night. Staff are working constantly either cleaning or making things new, the place is in excellent shape!

Good hotel, rooms are nice enough, AC and all that. But very overpriced for what you're getting. The photos make it look much nicer than it is. Maybe Luang Prabang is just expensive, but 800k per night seems double what it's worth. They do not even offer laundry service.
Nicole L — Google review
Sure, its a little way out of town, but if you don't mind short pleasant walks, it's a great location. The guest house is near to really good restaurants and the supermarket. For the price the rooms are pretty good, but if you hate mosquitos and small ants, it might be frustrating. There is quite a bit of construction going on at the minute, but it should mean the place will be even better soon.

Our stay was good value but other than that everything else was just frustrating. This hotel is managed by a small Laotian family & unfortunately they sit around all day with kids running around screaming. Nobody is ever at the desk to help with anything it’s always there child playing games on a phone very loud. The grounds & building honestly could be so beautiful, especially the front drive area. But, the family have allowed this to go into dis-repair throughout covid. I understand Laos is a developing country & people don’t have the same expenditures as other countries but I don’t understand people sitting around when there is dirt, weeds & rubbish. The hotel needs a re-vamp & the family need to put in some work & this could be a flourishing business.

The rooms were nice, some of the rooms needed a bit of updating. We were staying in one of the rooms when part of the ceiling paint started peeling off in the shower which put dust all over the room. We notified staff and they were really apologetic and moved us to another room where we had issues with the window not closing properly and they sorted the issue really well and was smiling and laughing with us the whole time. Communication was really good even over google translate, the breakfast was good with lots and lots of fruit. The location is good too within walking distance to the night market and local attractions.

The owner is very friendly. A simple breakfast is included and you can take coffee and tea at any time. Since there is also a beauty salon in the guesthouse, you can use the service for a good price if needed. Unfortunately, the room was very dusty and smelled musty. But the biggest minus point was the rooster, which crowed incredibly loud every morning right outside our window and robbed us of sleep at 04:30. Even earplugs didn't help. Loved my stay at PP Guesthouse! Great location, clean room, and very kind staff. Quiet atmosphere and good value for money. Would definitely come back!

I really didn't like there. I don't know if all the rooms are similar but mine wasn't worth the price. Very poor English, can't help you with anything, staff so young can't answer any concern. AC broken, only one light for the whole room, window blocked open from outside the whole night (could hear the GH nextdoor as they were into bed with me), a very tiny cabinet and no space (30cm max) around the bed + poor bedding. Only positive point: water heater to make some tea/coffee. Never again.

I loved staying here while in Luang Prabang, I even got my nails done while here too! The owners amazing, she was so helpful to me, providing me with assistance whenever I needed it. She runs both the beauty salon and the guest house so it's a big job! The wifi worked perfectly for me and the breakfast was great and there was tea and coffee whenever I wanted it. She was a very helpful and accommodating host. It was a great place to end my trip! I would definitely come to stay here again.

Nestled in a serene location with stunning mountain views, Pongkham Residence offers a delightful retreat just 2.1 km from Mount Phousy. This charming guest house provides complimentary WiFi and on-site parking, ensuring a hassle-free stay. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of beautiful gardens while being only a short bike ride away from the vibrant town center, where free bicycles are available for exploration.
Staying here is like being with family! The hosts are nice and sweet and always available for everything and they do all they can to make your stay comfortable and relaxing! I booked one night and I ended up staying 4. The hotel is not really in the center of town but with the free bikes they provide you’ll be there in 5 minutes!

This place is a gem of a hotel. Not because of the rooms or the location, but the people who run this hotel are the kindest souls we've met in Laos. Being a bit out of town is nice and they offer free bicycles (it's only 5 minutes to the town center). They were also very helpful in organising a scooter at a reasonable price. The fact that they have an on-site tuk tuk is also handy when it comes to transfers to and from the train station. We loved the breakfast. Fresh eggs, nice bread, homemade jam and fruit. Perfect to start the day! We were able to book with them directly after reaching out by email.

We had a lovely short stay in April at this family run bed & breakfast. Mom & dad who run the business take great pride in providing quality service and exceptionally clean accommodations (based on SEA standards). We needed transportation to the Luang Prabang train station (30 mins from city centre) and they quickly helped arrange a small van to pick us up at an agreed time (40k Kip per person). The rooms are no frills - simple and very clean if you are just looking for a quiet place to sleep at a reasonable price. Breakfast was also simple (omelette, good toasted bread, fresh fruit, coffee). A/C took quite a while to cool the room down though (mind you it was 35C+). They also provided free bicycles which we took to the night market in city centre (5-10 mins). Thank you again for the hospitality!

Best stay in Luang Prabang and Laos. It’s a Guesthouse run by the loveliest hard working family. Such kind people it just felt like home. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable. Free bicycles and breakfast included. Amazing Offer for the small money you pay.

Such a lovely hotel, the rooms are super clean and comfortable, and the family that runs the hotel is so friendly and accommodating! Thank you so much for having us!

It is a little out of the town centre, but that was no problem as we could cycle very quickly into town with good quality bikes available for free. The owners are amazing, they will help you with everything, give you a lot of advice and let you save money whenever you can. The breakfast is very good, fresh fruit every day, and amazing omelette cook it in front of you, if you want something different you just need to ask. The bed are comfortable and the room is very clean, the place is quite if you like to relax. We spend an amazing time there, talking with lot of different people and the owner. There is also a swimming pool near by, very cheap.

This was our favourite place to stay in Laos! It is a little out of the town centre in a quiet street with beautiful gardens and a nice place to relax. It is a 10 minute cycle into town with good quality bikes available for free to explore the local town. (If you like coffee head to saffron- our favourite in Luang Prabang!) The owners are amazing, they will help you with everything, give you a lot of advice to explore the area, book train tickets or mini van and hire motorbikes if you like. The breakfast is very good, fresh fruit bread and eggs. We liked how comfortable the beds were and how clean the rooms were. There is also a public swimming pool near by to relax in the sun. Thank you for having us! Wish we could come return to stay again

My partner and I loved our stay, hosted by the amazing Wan and his family. We were able to choose a bright, spacious room with a lovely view to the mountains. The bathroom was clean and the shower was nice and hot! We enjoyed drinking beer on the balcony and felt very at home. Nothing was too much trouble and Wan gave us excellent local tips and was always happy to help us plan our day. Breakfast was delicious too - Lao noodles, eggs and baguette, fresh fruit, home made jams and local honey, tea and coffee. It is a little out of the town centre, in a peaceful residential area, but that was no problem as we could cycle very quickly into town with good quality bikes available for free. As always, it’s the people that make a place special, and that’s certainly true for Pongkham!

Mali House, located in the heart of Luang Prabang, offers a unique and authentic experience for travelers. The traditional Lanna style house is owned by an American host and his Lao wife, who provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The property's proximity to the morning market allows guests to immerse themselves in local sights and sounds. Despite its central location, the rooms are peaceful and comfortable, with clean amenities and a charming balcony overlooking the bustling market.
Perfect location in the heart of Luang Prabang. Andy is very helpful, has a lot of recommendations and is very friendly. The Mali house offers the cleanest rooms we have seen so far in entire south east Asia. There's no complementary breakfast, but this is no problem as the food market is literally next door! Thanks for everything!
Mhochi M — Google review
A lovely stay - You can't go wrong here! The room was modern, clean and had the perfect location within close walking proximity to all the major sites. The owner, Andy, was always friendly and welcoming, and provides a helpful list of recommended activities/restaurants when you first arrive. He assisted us with quick and clean laundry services at a great price (cheaper than the laundries we could find in the old town) and returned our clothes to the room the next morning. The hotel location is perfect and is nestled right next to the morning market - Every morning, you get a true local experience as the bustling market passes by but neither my partner (who is a light sleeper) or I were ever woken up by the market sounds.

I extended my stay twice so I had the pleasure of staying in 3 different rooms. I can therefore say with confidence: all the rooms are beautiful, clean, quiet, and and come with the best shower in town. Location is perfect. Andy is a wonderful host and his list of recommendations is spot on as well.
Alex — Google review
Good location. Mali House offers cleanest suit rooms during our stay two nights. Andy is excellent host and very helpful to take care us to have lunch also going to Kuangxi and other beautiful waterfalls.
Michi S — Google review
Literally in the morning market! My room faced away from the market, so was incredibly quiet and I slept super well. Andy is from Boston, so expect a friendly American accent to greet you. Just a couple rooms, but well maintained and serviced daily. Great for solos or couples. They run a cafe in the courtyard with great espresso. I bought fruit or sweets from the market for my coffee each morning. Taxis won't be able to drive to the front door, but it's a few steps from the main road, and tours/airport van drivers walked in to meet me. My room had a patio, but it's by the ACs so not particularly special. It did feature a shy neighborhood cat that greeted me some mornings!
Alvin L — Google review
Andy is an awesome host. He's American so he speaks ok English 😆 He airdropped us a list of activities bars / restaurants to see which were all brilliant. The rooms were nice and clean. Does get a bit noisy outside in the early morning 5AM onwards due to markets. But apart from that it was a good stay. Would recommend.

What a gem! I stayed for 4 nights and had the best time at Mali House. Andy was the best host ever - we had great chats over morning coffee and he made my time in Luang Prabang unforgettable. The rooms were clean, had hot water and great AC. I loved the little porch as well, it's so calming to watch the morning market down below. The location is great, I could walk everywhere. If I'm ever back in Luang Prabang I will definitely stay here again! Thanks Andy!

If offered room 102, you would be better off sleeping rough. In the last 10 months, I have slept in tents, I have slept on inch thick mattresses on the floor, slept on boats, planes, cars, and I have never in my life slept anywhere as uncomfortable as this. It felt like there were potatoes under the sheet. Coupled with this, one pillow far too high, one pillow that was just about thicker than it's pillowcase. Got up with marks on my hips as I lie on my side. Notice I said got up, rather than woke up. Not only was the bed horrific, the neighbours (not the hotel's fault) were obnoxiously loud and annoying well into the wee hours. We bafflingly stayed a second night (we asked for a room change obviously but hotel was fully booked), and the same neighbours were equally annoying the second night, so unlikely this was a once off. The room is also off the patio where breakfast is served, so you will hear chatter, plate noises etc from 7:30. It won't wake you up though, because you will not have been asleep unless you are deaf and made from goo. We came to our senses and moved hotel after that. The breakfast was really good, loads of options and the fruit plate was delicious. The staff are really nice and helpful, don't know how much say they have in upgrading the furniture. The room was the darkest I've ever tried to sleep in, in this day and age with constant light seepage, LED lights flashing or ridiculously bright etc, it was unusually dark, which would have really helped get a great night's sleep but for the other issues. The location was brilliant if the neighbours weren't completely ignorant.

I booked a 5-night stay and was placed in a room that was different from the photos on Booking. It had no window and was very dark. The next day, I was moved to the room I had originally booked (upstairs). However, the room certainly was not "deluxe." It was small, not cleaned once during my stay, and lacked the fridge and kettle that were promised in the Booking description. The walls had poor insulation, offering no privacy- I could hear everything my neighbors were doing- including bathroom visits. Additionally, the reception was not open 24 hours as stated on Booking. No one was there at night. The owner was very determined to charge me the full price even tho one night I stayed in the room I never booked and I told him that the price should be adjusted accordingly, especially for missing amenities throughout my whole stay. An absolute disappointment with this booking. On the positive note: wifi was good and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful with lots of cafes around.

Location Location is about 8/10 minutes walk from the historical district & 12 minutes from the night market. It's an easy walk in the evening though the lovely town, but an easier loca (grab/uber of Laos) during the hot day Room We stayed in the family room & paid US17/ 400,000 KIP. (This was offseason) We paid in cash the first day & then card (after some negotiations) for the remaining 3 days. The rooms were clean though are not very soundproof (but that seems to be the norm for the solid wooden guesthouses. So no complaints there. ) The room was super spacious & the double bed was comfortable. The pillows were a little hard for our taste but did the job. There was also a single bed, coffee table and chairs, full wardrobe & safe. The bathroom was snug & the shower pressure was strong. Facilities They didn't clean out room during our 4 night stay but we're not long enough in Laos to know if that's the norm. We did ask for toilet paper & got it immediately. Wifi was ok to search/ use maps but not strong enough to stream properly. It got better late at night. Breakfast was included & was nice. 7/8 options ranging from banana pancakes to eggs & toast & a juice. We tried a few of the options & the pancake was definitely our favourite! Instant coffee & tea available in the lobby. Only powdered milk. Cups & big mugs :). Overall, it's decent value for money , I would stay here again if visiting Luang Prabang.

Great service. Very good breakfast- fresh fruits and eggs to order. Hot water station with teas etc and fresh water dispenser. Rooms are great, try opt for a family room, top floor street facing. Walking distance to riverfront and lovely part of historic quarter.

We stayed in several rooms at KhouPhet - the first night, there was ongoing noise from the sump pump, which made it hard to sleep - however, they kindly moved us to a better room the next day. When a noisy next door neighbour caused problems another night, the staff stepped in to deal with them right away. Every morning, we had fresh fruit and a choice from a small breakfast menu. Although near the end of the peninsula of downtown, we could walk to most locations in about 10-15 mins - and it's close to the confluence of two rivers, and a couple of beautiful wats. After checkout on our last day, I had visa problems at the airport which meant I had to stay a few extra nights in Laos. I reached out to the staff, who kindly made space for me to return to the guesthouse. As Vietnamese speakers, they also helped me deal with Vietnam Airlines to rebook my flight. I really appreciated the amazing folks who work here!

Honestly not as bad as the reviews make it seem, good location, nice room and bed. The air conditioner is a bit slow but after a bit it gets better. Low price as well.

We booked this hotel on booking.com where the reviews are much higher, sadly this isn’t reflective of where we stayed and we wished we’d looked at the google reviews before booking. We paid $100 for 2 nights which is at the higher end for Laos, our review is reflective of this as the accommodation was more like a hostel. The room didn’t have any natural daylight as it had shutters, it was very basic (only one bedside table, nowhere to store clothes etc.). It also stank of smoke and was very unpleasant to sleep in. The bathroom was also very basic and the shower was lukewarm with hardly any pressure. The photos on booking.com are not reflective of the room and are misleading. Other basic things are missing, for instance they didn’t makeup the room at all during our stay. Toilet paper was not replenished. Breakfast also finishes at 9am which is quite early. One positive is that the location is decent as it’s walkable to things like the night markets etc. I wanted to share this review as after I posted a review on Booking.com (after I was prompted) Dear Villa Hotel claimed I was a no show and booking.com ‘cancelled’ my trip, meaning I am unable to leave an honest review on that platform. We paid in cash and did not receive a receipt. They also didn’t provide us with our change and we had to ask them to do so the next day. We would not recommend staying here, avoid at all costs.

I originally had a booking at Nirasim Villa - another hotel. The owner confirmed my booking with me the day I was supposed to arrive on WhatsApp. However, when I arrived, they said there had been a mistake and they’d overbooked the place and offered to put me up at another hotel close by, which turned out to be this one - Dear Villa House. I immediately thought that was fishy but agreed, not wanting to spend time searching for a new hotel in the evening. I also saw reviews that mentioned guests having their money stolen. At first glance, the room looked decent enough and I took it. The problems started at night - around 3-4 am to midday, there was a strong smoke penetrating the room, making it very difficult to sleep. This continued the next night too. Upon mentioning this to the owner, he casually said that the neighbors were either burning garbage or cooking something early in the morning. I understand that this is not something that can be easily controlled, but the rooms should not be so susceptible to things like this and not have large gaps in the walls (like for an exhaust) that allow the smoke to enter. I insisted on being moved to another room, which they did, but that room had other problems - weak WiFi, AC remote not working, and a very noisy bed frame. Ultimately, the smoke gave me an infection that I have still not completely recovered from a week later, and ruined the last few days of my trip in Laos. Breakfast is included and is at a cafe opposite the hotel. You choose from 5-6 options. Decent enough, but very limited options for vegetarians and absolutely none for vegans. The owner helped me with motorbike rental and train tickets.

We had an awful experience here. Money has been stolen from our room, the photos do not match the place on booking.com. No breakfast provided although says it was included. Do not stay. The rooms are dark and not clean. Overpriced and not safe.
Verity H — Google review
Managing Vietnamese family speak no other language including Lao. No promotion of Laos, Lungprabang or this UNESCO town. The mattress is broken down on the sides, hard to sleep. Water pressure is minimal. No room cleaning after 11:30. This hotel was previously leased by a Chinese group so many Chinese customers. We were the only Western and Lao guests. Room smelled of smoke. Disrespectful managers invited friends for a midnight, noisy drinking party just in front of all guest rooms. No refrigerator. Chinese guests tried entering our room twice at night and then started banging on other room doors very loudly. They prefer US dollars for payment but if you pay in Lao currency check the proper rate before asking them to do the calculation. Breakfast is done by a nice riverside nearby restaurant so has some good choices. Overall, if you want to feel you are in Laos and want a Lao atmosphere in this nice UNESCO city you better not stay here. This hotel seems to be only for Vietnamese.
Bill S — Google review
Money got stolen from the hotel room during breakfast on the last morning before checking out. And if I read other reviews in google its not the first time in this hotel when money gets stolen from guests from the room. You have to notify the staff when you are going for breakfast and breakfast is in a cafe across the street, so they know when you leave the room. After discovering the case we asked to call the police, but staff said we have to go to police office by ourselves and gave us wrong address of the police office to waste our time. Especially as we had to leave on the same day. We also asked to show us the video from security cameras, but the employee said the cameras are turned off, so there is no video. Destroyed the whole impression of Laos.
Liga B — Google review
I would avoid staying here, we had money stolen out of our bags and after reading reviews found that this has happened before. The appearance isn't as nice as in the photos and sadly it wasn't very safe either. In addition to this, we booked it on booking.com and the company cancelled our booking after we left to try and stop us leaving a bad review.
Harvey K — Google review
I don’t recommend this hotel/villa to anyone, the reception guy is lier, they give us room AC not working, we clearly can see compressor not working but they put us in room whole day waste that is fixing until now nothing works. Many lies including the view, the room is closed from everywhere you can hardly breathe but they put wrong photos to attract the business. There is no room with mekong view, don’t use this hotel for any purpose. This is the worst hotel i take in luangprabang, i come to Luangprabang every weekend, this is my first time this much bad experience i will never forget, all because of this room. They dont want us to take shoes to our room, but their staff bring dirty shoes to our room. My room floor not clean at all, washroom not clean at all, no slipper inside room, i walk with my feet all become dirty and i sleep on bed with same feet and all my bedroom is dirty, what logic they use to not bring our shoed up ? All germs carry with our feet to our bed, If you don’t want to ruin your trip, don’t come to this hotel, better go to hostel or any other hotel in luangprabang, not this hotel.

Awful experience, avoid please. Scammers. In a nutshell, they let you book for certain price and then they double the price at arrival. We have booked this place through booking a couple of days ahead of our trip to LP, when we arrived to the guest house late night, the receptionist have told us that we need to pay double price for the room, as that was completely out of our budget, they used the fact that we arrived late and we had no other option to stay, just pure scam. Then the French owner of the place have arrived shouting on us saying that he is not giving the room for us for that price, extremely rude, we left the place and had to seek another accommodation very late night! Awful experience, so avoid for your own sake.

Pretty ok for the price. Staff was very standoffish, the rooms weren't cleaned while we were there, and if you breed extra waters or toilet paper, you either have to ask the staff or just go get it yourself from the store room. Also, the bathrooms were designed in such a way that you can't poop without your knees being up against the wall.

Great location in the middle of the heritage area. Short walking distance to all the main attractions in town including the alms giving ceremony street, morning market, night market, restaurants, tour bookings, Mekong ferry, bamboo bridges and handicrafts village. Downside is our room has very old furniture and no hot water on the tap.

Great low cost stay. Friendly and courteous staff. Fantastic kitchen options and also restaurants right outside the door. Don't expect your room to be made unless you ask them. Showers can be a bit cold if your not used to using the inividual water heaters.

They are out of business and permanently closed. I booked through Agoda and arrived this evening. After finding out they don't run the business any more, I had to walk and ask for vacancy at many places to find somewhere to sleep tonight. Eventually I paid double the price because it's a Chinese new year holiday week... Agoda gave me $1.20 as "a gesture of apology"... 🤣

Great hotel with spacious and aesthetically beautiful rooms. They have smart TV, bathrobes, slippers and full bathroom toiletries. We didn’t use the pool due to the burning season but saw people enjoying it to freshen up in the 36 C degree weather. While the neighborhood is surrounded with coffeeshops and restaurants, it’s about 10 minute pleasant walk to the center where the night market is. They even gave us extra towels to take with us to the waterfall. Highly recommend this cute hotel!

We spent 5 nights here. Our room was really spacious, very beautifully decorated, and the bed very comfy. AC and WiFi worked very well. Staff were friendly. Although we didn't use it, the pool to me looked bigger than what was shown in the pics. We wouldn't hesitate staying here again! Just one very small thing that management can improve on: the remote control in our room didn't work with Netflix or Amazon prime, swapping this for a functioning Samsung remote control would allow full use of the Smart TV.

Best hotel we have stayed in throughout Laos. We stayed in the family room. The room was very clean and had an excellent layout. Staff were super helpful and the room was made up beautifully every day (with very nice towel arrangements on the beds). Pool was ok but not a great design for those staying in the adjacent rooms (very easy to splash anyone sitting on those balconies). Close to the main attractions in LP (maybe a 5-10 minute walk). Overall I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the staff and the quality of the rooms.

Stayed here at the Dawn Boutique Hotel for about 2 weeks. This hotel is immaculate, super clean, reception staff Xai, La and night reception all speak adequate English and are helpful in all things Luang Prabang related. Rarely have I found such quality accommodation for such reasonable price anywhere in Laos during the low season. I highly recommend the Dawn Hotel, if you want a comfortable place in the centre, you can’t go wrong here.

We would stay here again. The owner is lovely and speaks good English. Breakfast was nice and she arranged a motorbike for us and taxis. Nice and quiet back from the main street too.

I've never posted a negative review of a hotel before and we travel 6 or 7 months per year. I feel I must here because in our experience, the hotel was grossly misrepresented. Our room was dark and dingy. Half the lights did not work, the bathroom tap was nearly falling off, and there was mold all around the air vent. We were given two stained towels and nothing else. The shower pressure was nonexistent and the water couldn't be turned all the way off, so it dripped heavily all night long. The lobby floor was filthy and they began crashing around and talking loudly outside our room at 6:30 am both morning. The people who worked there couldn't be bothered to look up from their phones. When we checked out two days early, the young man just said, "OK, bye," not inquiring as to why we were leaving early. It was very inexpensive, so maybe it's a matter of, "You get what you pay for," but I suggest you pay a bit more and give this place a hard pass. (We switched hotels and are much happier.)

This was by far one of the nicest hostel I have stayed in SEA. The room is brand new, very well equipped and with an AMAZING bathroom (hot water, separate shower etc) The owner is the most attentive and kind person and she even upgraded our room for free. She cooks nice breakfast and was very nice with every little need we had. The location is wonderful and you have a lot of restaurants very close by. Would definitely come back when in Luang Prabang!!

This is in no way a 3 or 4 star hotel. The rooms are dirty, dark, and dingy. Other post said newly updated. Not with the sink faucet falling off, the shower water constant running , and mold in the air vent. Light bulbs were burned out or missing. Seems we were put on a tight ration of TP. Almost had to buy our own. The "staff" guy was way more interested in his phone than customers. The lobby floor has dirt ground in and left to be tracked around. Placemats at the table are left with the last persons crumbs and dirt. We avoided the included breakfast after the first day. The final straw was all the racket and shouting at 6:30 am that jarded us out of bed. We check out in the second day ( booked 4 days, used 1) of our stay and the staff could have carted less. When I handed the reception guy the key and told him we were checking out, I got one glance up from his phone with, " OK" and back to the phone. As a point of reference, we have been traveling in SE Asia for 8 weeks now. Plenty of places to set precedent. My suggestion is aviod this place.

Lovely stay. Definitely pricey for Laos, but if you can get it discounted it is truly worth it. We paid 800k KIP per night, which I thought was fair. The room is large and modern. The bathroom is a little gem. You also have a small balcony to sit outside. Aircon is quiet and efficient. The managers are lovely and willing to help out with anything. The only downsides that were there when we were there. There is a new puppy that is kept on the ground floor outside on a short leash at night. He was crying late in the evening and super early morning. This was so annoying to the extent that we started sleeping with earplugs. The same was true one of the nights for a small child, which I think was from the owners/managers.

The staff provided outstanding service—always ready to assist whenever I needed help, including arranging outside contacts when necessary. The room was spotless and comfortable, allowing me to sleep soundly through the night without any disturbances. The location is perfect, close to many attractions within walking distance, and the hotel also offers bicycles for rent, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable. The price is very reasonable, the facilities are complete, and the breakfast is good. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and truly great value for money. Highly recommended!

I spent 4 lovely nights at this gem of a hotel, right on the banks of the mighty Mekong River, in the heart of the old historic town of Luang Prabang.  The premises and room were spotless, the firm bed surprisingly comfortable, and the hotel staff beyond kind and sweet.  The main street is less than a 5 min walk.  If you want to watch the alms collection early in the morning, they pass by just a block away (no need to join the  throngs of tourists on the main road).  There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops close by, within walking distance.  Free use of their bicycles if you want to meander around the neighborhood and area.  A shout out to Sonnalee, the manager, and her merry band of employees, Mr Lar, Deth and Bounmab. They all made me feel warmly welcomed.  Sonnalee was raised in Australia, so there is no language barrier, a bonus if you want detailed insider information on the area.  I loved staying there and if I return, I would book there again without hesitation.

Newly renovated hotel with large, clean, beautifully decorated bedrooms. Bathroom is well equipped and the room has all the amenities you will need. Perfect location on the river and a short walk to the main street for the market and the best restaurants. Mr Bily and Mrs Laaongdaa at the reception were particularly friendly and welcoming. The Joma cafe downstairs for breakfast is also so lovely and super convenient! Would absolutely recommend staying here on your trip to Luang Prabang!

If you choose to stay at this hotel, make sure to carefully check all the items in your room — such as bathrobes — upon arrival. You may be accused of losing something and charged for it without any clear proof. To be fair, my family and I were initially very impressed with the service when we checked in. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was enjoyable, and the hotel’s location was convenient and well-connected. However, after checking out, our impression completely changed. Immediately after we check-out, we were informed that a bathrobe was missing. The housekeeper — a lady named Noi — repeatedly insisted that she was certain she had placed the exact number of bathrobes according to the number of guests, and that she had no reason to take it. She said that if my family and I refused to pay for the missing item, both she and the front desk staff (Boun) would have to pay for it themselves. We were asked to open our luggage for inspection, and after doing so, it was clear that we did not take any bathrobe. Despite this, the hotel still insisted that we pay for the “missing” bathrobe in USD. Aside from this incident, other aspects of the hotel were acceptable. But after this experience, I realized that I could easily find another hotel nearby with the same or even better standards — and one that treats guests with more fairness and professionalism.

A new hotel so don't be put off by the lack of reviews. Rooms are great, especially those on the 2nd floor with the balconies. The bed is extremely comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Bikes are available for guests but I didn't use them this time. Would come back if I'm in Luang Prabang again.
Andy T — Google review
I do not recommend this hotel due to poor management. I had to wait an hour for my room, and all the staff offered was an apology. They explained that, because it was a holiday and there were many guests, they couldn’t prepare the room on time. Moreover, the pillow had a strange smell, the bed was hard and uncomfortable, and I could hear all the noise from surrounding rooms. Therefore, I strongly advise against staying at this hotel, especially during holidays.

Luang Prabang Boutique House, formerly known as Villa Rattanakon, is a charming and affordable accommodation located in Ban Thatdluang, Laos. The traditional Lao house offers a warm welcome with lime water drinks and helpful neighborhood maps. Situated within walking distance of cultural venues and markets, it provides easy access to explore downtown Luang Prabang. The rooms are clean and tidy with modern amenities such as air conditioning, fans, and Wi-Fi.
I've stayed here for 9 days. I was in bangkok and moved here with my friends. When I arrived here, the owner welcomed us with lime water welcome drink. Owner introduced neighborhood with map which helped me to look around the neighborhood. House itself is antique laos traditional house. Guest house located within quite close distance to every famous spots. I and my friend always walked to night market and Dara market. Right next to D&T supermarket in dara market, there is great street coffee shop. You should try Laos Ice Coffee. It's sweet and great. Anyways, I heard that owner of this house has been changed. They've been run this house about 6 months so they are always willing to help you and take care of you. Even when we returned from sightseeing, they gave us drinks. There are many great options of breakfast and they made it themselves. I tried Laos noodle, toasts with scramble eggs, and toasts with fried eggs. There are also drinks options so you can choose fruits drink or coffee. Room was great, clean, and tidy. They made bed everyday and fill 2 bottles of water, toilet paper, shampoo and body wash, soap and clean towels. They have balconys which used as hallway too, gave us great impression. Right in front of door, there is table which you will have breakfast. During our stay, it was rain. Sitting at the balcony, listening to music and having coffee was so great. Water and beer they selling was pretty same price as supermarket so I bought beer in here. They also have laundry service which is little more expensive than other shop but they used drying machine (I cannot be sure if other laundry shop use drying machine). If I have chance to come back to Luang Prabang, I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend place to another guests.

It is located in an alley inside one of the main streets, so it is quiet and close to the night market. After arriving from Vang Vieng and checking in, I went straight to the night market. It was close to Joma Bakery, so it was easy to reserve a minivan to Kuang Si Falls. It was nice to explore downtown Luang Prabang with the free bicycle rental. It was the best service in this price range and I had a pleasant time with smiles and kindness. If you're looking for a budget-friendly and welcoming place to stay in Luang Prabang, the Oulayphet Guesthouse is a great option. This new guesthouse offers clean and modern rooms with amenities like air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and hot showers. The staff is friendly and helpful, making it easy to feel at home. While the location is slightly outside of town, it's still convenient to get around with options like renting a bicycle or crossing the nearby bamboo bridge.

Lovely staff, super helpful and accommodating. Very clean and comfortable, great air con, WiFi worked fine. Amazing serene location walking distance from town. Unbeatable value as well, we thought the price was going to mean it wasn’t as nice as other places we stayed in LP previously but were mistaken! The owner even put our motorbikes inside for us at night to keep them safe

New guesthouse (August 2018), hence everything works well (AC, wifi, hot shower, new rooms and furniture). The staff is friendly and helpful, although they do not have any typical tourist booking service. While the location is outside of town, with a bicycle or by crossing the bamboo bridge (or taking the boat) it only takes minutes. Anyway, there is one of the best BBQ restaurant in LP overlooking the river closeby, as well as amazing pizza! Overall, great value place to stay

Would be 3.5 stars if possible. Pros: rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable; prices are fair; free drinking water; pretty friendly staff. Cons: bad WiFi; some issues with the laundry service; unpredictable/intermittent housekeeping schedule. Major word of warning: the bamboo bridge is only up during the dry season, so expect to walk the long way around OR pay 5000k each way for the boat operated by Dyen Sabai.

It is difficult to add to the other 5 star reviews already posted for the Apsara and our experience matched that of other reviewers. Our room was exceedingly comfortable with doors opening onto the balcony which remained sunny most of the day. Staff were excellent and Ivan (the owner) was often present to provide information and guidance from his many years of living here. Apsara is well positioned making Luang Prabang easy to explore. Highly recommended.

The Apsara is a charming hotel in a great location with fantastic staff. It seems like every structure in the center of Luang Prabang is a hotel or restaurant. On one side of the central area is the Mekong River and on the other is the Nam Khan River. The Name Kahn, where the Apsara is located, is the quieter and prettier side. In early February 2025 I stayed in a second floor room, which is well worth paying for, as opposed to one on the ground level. But a friend stayed in a ground floor room and liked it immensely. Next to the Apsara is the Tamarind, one of the best restaurants in Luang Prabang. The manager, Mr Room, helped us with everything we needed. He's great.

(Translated by Google) On 2025/5/15, I stayed here for three days. It is a hotel with few reviews, but from the photos, I think the room is very big, about 22m², and the room is very comfortable. There are three pillows of different softness and hardness on the bed. The bathroom provides soap, shower gel, shampoo and bath towels. There is drinking water, tea bags and coffee in the lobby. You can ask the owner for toothbrushes. As for hair dryers, there is no possibility in the room, so you have to ask the owner. The room also comes with a safe, refrigerator and electric kettle. As for the problem of mosquitoes seen in previous reviews, I personally think that the room is very big and located on the first floor. It is inevitable that mosquitoes will enter when the door is opened, so I specially eliminated them all, and I cleaned up the garbage and took it to the lobby every day, which made my room very clean. I slept very comfortably for these three days. It is a highly recommended accommodation. The location is excellent, and it is convenient to walk everywhere. There are motorcycle taxis opposite, and there is a Lao Wo specialty noodle grocery store at the entrance of the alley. You don’t need to take a car to walk to the Mekong River, night market, and morning market. It is a recommended accommodation with a very high CP value. The best part was the service – the guy who welcomed us was very helpful and, despite the language barrier, used Google Translate, so we were able to arrange everything with him. My wife happily used the kettle to make coffee, for example. We rented a moped through him, and although the vehicle was in very poor condition, it wasn't his fault, but the rental company's fault. They provided me with some junk, but they eventually got us where they needed to go. They even dropped us off at the bus terminal. As for the location, we liked being a bit out of the way. It's still only a slightly longer walk (1.5 km) to the historic center. Another local night market is nearby, where we ate dinner twice. We slept well and it wasn't too noisy. Best regards, and we recommend this place. (Original) Jeden z najbardziej udanych pobytów noclegowych w kilku tygodniowej podróży. Spędziliśmy 3 noce w bardzo eleganckich warunkach. Czysty duży pokój, zarówno z klimatyzacją jak i sufitowym wentylatorem. Łazienka bez zarzutu a goście otrzymują przybory toaletowe. Pozdrawiamy i polecamy nocleg.
