Hostel
Gyeongju Friend Guesthouse is a well-established chain restaurant with 30 years of tradition, offering top-grade food made with the freshest ingredients. The guesthouse has been recognized as one of the best in the area and offers spacious rooms at a good price. The friendly and helpful staff ensure a comfortable stay, and guests can enjoy delicious breakfast included in the affordable accommodation fee. The location is convenient, just a short walk from downtown but still quiet.
The owner is so nice and the hostel is very clean. I loved that they provided a heating blanket for the winter. They also had breakfast when most hostels don't have breakfast now because of budget cuts. I love that this place is woman owned. 10/10

The rooms were neat and simple. Good breakfast and great facilities and amenities. Showers are shared (no stalls, just shower heads). The staff is so nice. Quiet travelers but still social. Good location for bus and walking to sites in town. We easily got a bus to the temples and taxied back. Easy check in and out. Shampoo conditioner and soap provided. Hair dryer towel and curling rod also provided.
Ashlin K — Google review
Gyeongju Friend Guesthouse is perfect for your visit, it is very well located close to bus stops and the parks. I stayed in a 4bedroom. Comfortable, there is AC. There are lockers too. The showers are shared, open, woman and man separated. There is a cute doggie around, making the experience even better! And breakfast is also nice! If I’m back at Gyeongju I will stay back here again!
Noe M — Google review
The guesthouse owner is the most friendly lady, and her tiny dog candy is so cute. The breakfast is amazing, eggs and toast as well as homemade soup. The dorm beds are good, a bit hard but that’s everywhere in korea. She provided us with electric blankets when it was cold. The showers are a bit weird they are shared locker room style showers but it’s manageable if you take turns. The dorm beds don’t creak when you move which is amazing. I had a great sleep there It is also very close to everything in Gyeongju. Even though it’s not a very social hostel, I made friends with the girls in my room who were all very friendly
Sam O — Google review
The owner is so friendly and kind. She always greets with smile. I hope I will come back and stay here.

Pros: the guesthouse is clean, common room and kitchen, breakfast, big shower, lockers, hitting blanket, nice lady-boss Cons: idk

Hotel
Gyeongju Park Tourist Hotel is conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from the Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal, making it easy for guests to explore the area. The hotel offers spacious and clean rooms, with convenient access to a nearby bus stop for transportation around the city. Guests can enjoy amenities such as complimentary WiFi, gym access, male-only sauna, and a business center.
Next to McDonald and main road. We selected this hotel as it is also near to the bus terminal where we can get around to other part of Korea easily. It's an old hotel and therefore the sound proof is better than the newer one. It also come with a small gym and sauna for men only at selected timing.

The staff can be helpful, when needed. But we haven’t seen a smile since we arrived. Checkin was lugubrious, unnecessarily so given that we had provided passports and information we thought they would have had two hours previously. Breakfast is pretty basic. The rooms are spacious although noise attenuation room to room is not very effective. I can hear the neighbour’s tv as I type. But the beds are great: wide and very comfortable.
Howard B — Google review
The hotel is rather odd....looks modern from the outside but rooms are extremely dated and need quite a bit of modernisation. For the money paid there must be better quality accommodation in Gyeongju. It's location is good, about a 7-8 min walkk from the bus station (why we chose it) but we wouldn't stay again. It's about a 10 minute walk to the historical sites along a busy main road. Rooms are clean and we didn't have breakfast (very expensive) but there are a lot of eating places in Gyeongju so take a walk and find something better value. A 2 night stay here was enough.
Linda H — Google review
A basic and cheap hotel. It needs a really good cleaning and updating. The rooms weren’t practical like missing an end table on both sides of the bed, water dispensers, and a bathroom lock. They had unnecessary charges like for extra blankets. There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel which was very convenient.
K K — Google review
Great room size and location, however I experienced rude and poor service at front desk. I stayed on my own from the 15 to 17 of September. I went to the front desk on my first night around 8pm asking for a teaspoon for my room explaining that I must take medication that needs mixing with water. While a kettle and tea was supplied, no spoons were part of the tea set. The man at the front desk told me this was not a possibility and instructed me to go buy a spoon at the convenience store. I again explained it was for medication but he stated that the convenience store was just 200 metres from the hotel. I had no option but to go buy a set spoon set. Why when there is a full buffet breakfast and a restaurant must customers go buy their own spoon.
Paula H — Google review
Spent a few nights here when staying in Gyeongju. For the price point (especially compared to US hotels), this is a great place to stay. Location is right in the middle of town which is super convenient for access to bus stops for getting around. Very close to restaurants, historical sites, and shopping! Service was great, staff were very friendly. The hotel itself is also very clean and the standard room was huge! King size bed which was comfy (slightly on the firm side but still comfy!). The bathroom was also amazing for a hotel in this price range as it was huge and had a very large walk-in shower, and a jacuzzi tub! great for unwinding after walking around all day. Highly recommend!

During our trip to South Korea, after Seoul, our next stop was Gyeongju — and this wonderful hotel truly helped us recharge after full, adventure-packed days. I especially loved its super comfortable room, the courteous staff, elegant ambiance, and central location. Thank you! 😊
Sevil Ö — Google review
We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel's excellent location. The room was spacious and enjoyable to stay in. However, the fitness center is notably smaller than shown in the photos. Overall, we would recommend this hotel. The front desk staff does not speak English well.

3Doran Doran Guest House

Guest house
Doran Doran Guest House is a charming hanok stay in Gyeongju that offers a delightful and authentic experience. Situated in a perfect walkable location between Gyeongju's major archaeology parks and close to various bus stops, it provides a quieter alternative to the bustling neighborhood nearby. The small, family-run hanok hotel boasts meticulous cleanliness and a lovely courtyard garden, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
We stayed here for two nights in mid-February. I had a traditional bed room (mattress on the heated floor), and my nephew had a room with a regular bed. We were both very comfortable. I will note that the traditional (floor) bed's mattress was, per my nephew who lives in Korea, fatter and more comfy than is usual. I wanted the experience, and I am glad of the nicer mattress; it was quite comfortable. The rooms are as pictured on their website - modestly sized but completely adequate and comfortable and very clean. There is a small fridge for beverages, slippers for the bathroom, good light, a small dresser with a stool, and the bed. The ondol (floor) heating was perfect, and I could see an air conditioner, although we didn't need that in February. We much appreciated the good breakfast to start the day - with coffee, tea, juice, hot sandwiches available, lots of fruit options, toast, boiled eggs and more, plus sides like peanut butter and Nutella, etc. The location is excellent. Upon arriving, the gentleman greeting us recommended we walk over to visit the night-time illuminated Donggung Palace & Woji Pond, which we did and enjoyed very much; the “away” side of the pond has lovely views and is quiet. The next day we walked over to the tomb complex, the Woljeonggyo Bridge, saw the Cheomseongdae Observatory, much enjoyed visiting the Cheonmachong tomb (where you can enter, and which has interesting displays and historical information), and we wrapped up with a stroll along Hwangridan-gil people-watching and stopping for dinner. All of this was relatively easy (my young adult nephew says “easy!”) walking distance from the guesthouse. We didn’t move our car from the time we parked to check in at the guesthouse until we checked out. Excellent location. Comfortable and friendly-staffed accommodation.

Really cute traditional guest house in South Korea. The host is incredible hospitable and friendly offering cute breakfast. Would definitely come back. Perfect for travelers on a budget.

We had the most magical stay at Doran Doran during our time in Gyeongju. The place itself is so pretty, quiet and secluded. The rooms are very clean with all the amenities you could need. The location for access to all the sites in Gyeonju is also actually perfect. What really makes the stay are the hosts, they are so sweet and kind and will do anything to make you feel welcomed. The other guests we met were also really lovely.

Lovely stay for 2 nights here. Great location, conveniently situated near the city center & main street. Convenience store and café close by. Had a lovely, clean room with a big, comfortable bed, private bathroom and TV. Got free water and had a delicious breakfast. One of my highlight while traveling trough South Korea.

We came here in summer and love it so much, we decided to return during winter with a visiting friend. The room was comfortable with private bathroom, air conditioner and heater, the location is great, we walked to the pond, museum, royal tombs and lots of restaurants nearby. The breakfast is easy mix of self cooked eggs and sandwiches, selection of tea, coffee, juice to start the day. The staffs/owners are friendly and welcoming. We might come back for the third time😄.

Loved this place during our 3 night stay. Owner gave us an introduction to the city and told us what’s worth visiting. Free breakfast was included, felt like at home. I recommend this place
Andrey — Google review
We just finished a four night stay at Doran Doran Guest House. Originally, we thought that we stayed too long in Gyeongju but we had an amazing stay because of the wonderful hospitality of the grandma. She painstakingly made delicious breakfast for us every morning, including fruits, eggs, and ham and cheese bread. She and her husband live in the Hanok and made the living room available to our family so we could play cards and eat our ramen. The rooms were small and the beds were hard but the grandma's hospitality was so warming that our kids said it was the best hotel in our Korea trip. Thank you!
Eric Z — Google review
We only ended up staying here one night because I stuffed up or booking for Gyeongju - but we both wish we'd chosen Doran Doran for our whole stay. Lovely place, amazing location virtually right next to the tombs, lovely hosts, awesome breakfast!

Guest house
Namu Guesthouse, located in Gyeongju, offers air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and free WiFi. The property features a shared kitchen and lounge, ideal for families. Conveniently situated near historic sites and the intercity bus terminal, it's perfect for sightseeing. While the building is basic, the staff is welcoming and provides essentials like toothpaste and shampoo. Guests can enjoy a spacious room with a rooftop area for dining.
Very good value for the money - the self-service breakfast consists of as many eggs as you want with toast, jam, nutella, orange juice and tea and sometimes fresh cut fruit. It’a served in the basement, but since we always need a good coffee for breakfast, we just took our plates up to the café and drank our lattes there. The coffee in the Namu Café is fantastic! Foreigners beware however of booking the ondol rooms with on the floor bedding - it took our western backs a while to get used to the rather thin mattresses ;) The location is great since it’s only a five minute walk from the express bus station and in close walking distance to a lot of sights.
Ha — Google review
Located near all the historic sites of the city and the intercity bus terminal, Namu Guesthouse is in a great location. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and relatively clean. However, the sheet on our mattress was stained yellow with god knows what (they had cleaned it but clearly it was old and needed replacing). Therefore I slept on the blanket rather than on the sheet. Breakfast is unlimited eggs, bread, butter/jam, and juice or coffee in the basement. Apart from the mattress incident would stay here again!
Rachel K — Google review
Honestly the building was simple, very basic but so nice at the same time. I got a 4 beds female dormitory but I was lucky enough because I was alone. The stuff provided toothpaste, shampoo etc. the woman at the check in was very kind even tho her english wasn’t sufficient we were able to communicate. The room was very clean and spacious enough, with a nice rooftop where I enjoyed having dinner! The cons I encountered: they don’t have an elevator, and the breakfast included was very poor.. only some eggs and bread with jam or Nutella. But for the price I paid honestly I really can’t complain! The position is perfect because it’s close to the bus station express, bus stop, restaurants and cafes and the historical sites.
Ilaria N — Google review
nice quaint little guesthouse! well-located and within walking distance of hwangridan-gil + some of the attractions like cheongseongdae etc. the staff were friendly and patient and spoke english. breakfast is self-service, imo can give it a skip cos there's tons of great food nearby. rooms were clean and heated. we booked the ondol room and the twin room, and both were very well kept. hot water was good too. do keep in mind that we struggled a bit to get a taxi to come here on a weekend night — not sure if it's because it's a little tucked away.
Ilyda C — Google review
Wonderful little guest house! The rooms are clean and comfortable. On the ground level there is a small cafe with tables outside that you can sit at and enjoy the beautiful flowers that are outside. The staff is extremely polite and generous and will help with directions or recommendations if you need. You can make breakfast in the morning in the basement area. Breakfast you make yourself and includes eggs, bread, juice and some instant coffee. Will be staying here again the next time I'm in Gyeongju.
N B — Google review
Stayed in one of the shared rooms. Good beds and close to the intercity bus terminal, and 5min by bus to the train station. Simple breakfast provided. You can walk to historical sites and the Hanok village as well. Staff is quite friendly and can help you with things to see and stuff to eat. Stayed November 2019.
Kale H — Google review
I would like to say that the place is really recommended for a short-term gate away from it all. The hospitality was great. The room was super clean. The bathroom was spacious and clean. They have Name Cafe and it was great!!

Nestled in a quiet alley, Gridt Hotel is conveniently located just a kilometer away from both the train and bus stations. Its proximity to a bustling farmer's market adds to its charm, offering guests easy access to local produce and goods. The hotel also boasts a convenient parking lot on the first floor, making it hassle-free for those traveling by car.
Great rooms. You can make your own breakfast. Everything available to do it. Hotel is new. Incredible rooftop. Very confortable. I would include big towels. Walking distance from all important places. We had the airdresser in the bedroom.
Victoria S — Google review
The room was modern and spacious. However not very thought trough, Fe there was no hairdryer, no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels, and there was only a singular light switch in the entire room. Also you could hear every noise from the hallway. We still enjoyed our stay
Linea M — Google review
I am aware that this is a three star hotel and have to temper expectations accordingly, but I think some things that would be useful to know: - There are no real bath towels provided, only hand towels (the size of hand towels that you would usually expect at western establishments) - There is no shower stall so the whole toilet gets wet when you shower - There is apparently low water pressure in the sewerage system so there is a sign that you should not flush TP down the toilet and instead dispose the TP in a wastepaper basket. This may be discomfiting for some people. - We booked this hotel because it was advertised as having a washing machine in every room. Please be aware that this is not the case. There is indeed a Samsung AirDresser in every room but this is hardly the same as a washing machine. There is a collective laundry room on the 7th floor though (payable). - The beds feel like there is a layer of plastic below the sheets, making for less than comfortable slumber. - You need to wash your own dishes at breakfast. - Our windows opened to a wall.

(Translated by Google) This is the smallest hotel we stayed in during our tour of South Korea, but also the most pleasant. The staff is exceptionally friendly and speaks the best English of all the hotels we stayed in. The room is not very big, but excellently equipped and comfortable. On the ground floor you can easily get extra supplies such as a toothbrush and water. Everything is very neat and modern. In addition, you can leave your luggage for free in the lockers outside the hotel on the day of departure. The hotel is within walking distance of numerous eateries and other facilities, which makes the stay extra practical. All in all, a must for anyone looking for a hospitable and comfortable stay during a trip to South Korea!

(Translated by Google) My first visit to Gyeongju. My first accommodation in Gyeongju, the "Greudeut Hotel," was a perfect place to make my trip even more enjoyable. After a four-hour drive from Seoul, I arrived at Gyeongju at midnight. My husband, who is always on the lookout for the best accommodations for his wife, is picky about accommodations. The "Greudeut Hotel" proved to be the best in downtown Gyeongju. Facilities: The charming exterior is impressive, and the first-floor parking lot offers lockers for added convenience. A self-check-in machine allows for check-in and check-out without the need for a staff member. Conveniences: Additional items like towels, toothbrushes, and bottled water can be picked up on the first floor. Room Conditions: Excellent. Very clean and comfortable. The bathroom and shower are separate, and we stayed on the 6th floor, which had an outdoor terrace that added a cozy atmosphere. Service: The most impressive aspect of the "Greudeut" Hotel was the service and friendliness of the staff. A female staff member guided us from check-in to check-out. Even though we arrived at midnight, she waited patiently. Even though we overslept the next day and came down the next morning panting, she actually made us feel at ease. I'm not sure if the young woman was the owner, but her incredibly kind smile and genuine consideration touched us deeply. Thanks to her, our memories of Gyeongju became even more beautiful. "Thank you so much! I'll definitely stay at your hotel again next time I visit Gyeongju. :) Until then, stay healthy and happy!" p.s. We overslept and missed breakfast...^^; I heard the breakfast here is delicious. Breakfast is provided, so if you need it, please take note! The TV set is big and there are a variety of channels to choose. The breakfast is great with all the fundamental basic food. U have to put all the rubbish in the bin including toilet paper, not so convenient and all the towels are small but the eco concept is worth praising. All in all economically it is good.

Guesthouse Santa is a charming accommodation located in Gyeongju, just a short walk from the railway station. The guesthouse offers amenities such as free Wi-Fi, bicycle rental, and laundry facilities. While some guests found the decor in need of updating and mentioned noise from a nearby karaoke bar at night, many appreciated the friendly owner and comfortable beds. The location is convenient for exploring the shopping streets of Gyeongju and visiting major sights within walking distance.
Mr. Santa is very accommodating, welcoming, and he will ALWAYS great you with a very big smile on his face. You are guaranteed to feel like you're home as you stay in his guesthouse. Would 💯 come back again!

Price and service was great! Friendly owner. The guesthouse would've needed some redecorating/painting to look more modern. Location was nice: in the shopping streets of Gyeongju. Although during the night, the noise from the karaoke bar one floor below was annoying. Walking distance to both bus station and train station. I would recommend this guesthouse especially to group of friends who want to stay couple days in Gyeongju.

Despite the rather disturbing plastic Christmas tree in the lounge (not a huge fan of Christmas - let alone in October😅), I really liked this place. Santa is very helpful and friendly. Bed is comfortable. Guesthouse is close to the train station, close-ish to the bus stations and major sights are within walking distance. I would book again, if I came back to Gyeongju.

Pros - Walking distance to the famous sightseeing spots Daereungwon, Cheomseongdae, Gyerim Forest, Donggun Wolji and etc. - Adjacent to fashion street where included Daiso, Artbox, Adidas and etc. - 15 minutes from the Bus Express Terminal by walking. - Comfortable environment for staying. - The night was quieter than what I’ve expected before even though the 2bd floor was Karaoke room. Cons - Simple breakfast without sliced bread :( - Hard to find the actual location of the Guesthouse. - Little bit inconvenient because there are only two shared bathrooms. Other than these, I’ve got good stays in Guesthouse Santa :) Thanks for the kindness of the owner for providing us the cleaning spaces and letting us to have great deep rests after whole day travelling.

Very reasonable price and comfortable to stay. The lower level, second floor is Karaoke shop. Close to Kyonju station , restaurant and etc. When I visit again, I would like to stay. The owner seems to be busy for another work?

A cute guesthouse (well named as there's a Christmas tree even in summer!), cheap and comfortable with a free breakfast made of cereals and milk. If you want to meet the owner, you have to go to their office few meters away from the house.

Gyeongju Bee House is a unique guest house located near the historical site of Gyeongju, just 500 meters away from Gyeongju Express Bus Terminal. The property offers free WiFi and complimentary breakfast daily. The guest house provides a quiet and homey environment, where guests are required to take off their shoes before entering and can enjoy clean, modern hanok-style rooms with good wifi.
Great base to explore Gyeongju on foot! The rooms are comfortable and clean, and having a light breakfast option was great to start the day.

It’s a very unique style guest house. Very quiet environment and feels like home. You need to take off your shoes and keep it in a locker before entering the guest house. The rooms are on the same floor as the lounge. It feels like you are staying in your home with a separate bedroom. Really liked it. Few steps from Ancient tomb park and the Geumgwangchong tomb museum. Daereungwon Tomb Complex and Hwangnidan-gil and other main attractions of Gyeongju are within walking distance. Rooms are not very spacious but well equipped. Many options for good restaurants within walking distance. They offer free breakfast.

We had such a lovely 3 nights stay at this guesthouse! Giin (not sure how to spell) is a lovely lady that greeted us with a smile and made our stay really comfortable. The room is small but cosy, the bathroom is spacious. The bed is the most comfortable we have slept in Korea so far! From 8 to 10 you can enjoy a complimentary breakfast of bread and jam. The location is right in front of the hills and close to everything you need. If you come by bus it's 10 mins walking distance from the station. They don't have laundry service in the guesthouse. If we ever come back we will happily stay here again!

Simple, clean rooms. Few minutes from the bus station and city main attractions. Breakfast is nothing to wait for but it's included in your price and you'll have your first coffee

Perfect location, just a walk or short cycle from all the major sites. Clean rooms, lovely host. Breakfast included (toast, spreads, drip coffee, juice) Lockers to keep bags and shoes. Would definitely stay again.

Worth it for the price I paid! 24300 KRW per night . Room was spotlessly clean and fresh. Even the reception area was clean and freshly scented. Bathroom was clean and hot water worked perfectly. It's basically a modern hanok style room with good wifi . Location was perfect too, walking distance to tombs and buses to further attractions are minutes away. Only complaint was on the futons which were quite thin but it didn't bother me at all. Free coffee and toast breakfast too! Big thanks to the friendly manager and ajuma caretaker for hosting! I will definitely recommend this place for its value and might even return !

Less than 10min walk from the bus stations. Easy access to the main sights of Gyeongju. Bus to the temple and grottos is on the main road where the accommodation is located. While room is small, it is clean and comfortable.

Hotel Palace offers a unique hanok stay experience with beautiful traditional Korean housing. The modern rooms provide stunning views of Gyeongju and the surrounding mountains. Guests can enjoy comfortable beds, excellent wet rooms, and quiet ceiling AC for a peaceful night's sleep. The hotel is conveniently located near Hwangridan-gil and the market for sightseeing. Additionally, the newly built hotel provides clean and comfortable amenities such as a styler and air purifier in each room.
Hotel Palace was an absolutely amazing experience. Our 2 night stay was simply divine, we wish we could have stayed for longer. The room was so clean and tidy and the bathroom was almost the size of a room itself. The rainhead shower was so relaxing, and the Japanese toilet was a bonus. Housekeeping was flawless. Front desk staff Joy was a pleasure to speak with. The gentleman in glasses (didn't get his name) was also very helpful. Breakfast was really nice, they had a decent spread. The coffee machine was great. They also had a ramen maker and complementary ramen. Amenities like towels, bottled water, toiletries could be picked up from a cupboard beside the reception at no additional charge. Was a simply amazing stay, would highly recommend.

The room is clean and good enough for 3 people to stay in. The only downside of this hotel is the breakfast not the best. They have instant noodles to offer and simple breads. They have free water to offer in the reception area.

We stayed 4 nights at the hotel. Staff were friendly and responsive. Rooms were clean and the bed was ok. Breakfast was basic, but more than adequate and some mornings offered fish cake. There is a roof deck on the 8th floor which was open to take your meal and drink while offering a nice view of the area. Good location near the food night market and also close the UNESCO burial mounds and museum.

Lovely large, modern room overlooking Gyeongju, and the mountains in the distance, in an area where tall apartments buildings are not permitted, so higher floors have good views from the small windows. Excellent wet room, but we were unable to figure out how to get cold water (rather than just hot) into the bath, so we used the shower on cold to cool down the bath. Comfortable if fairly firm bed with good linen, plus nice slow-fan ceiling AC for a quiet room to sleep in. We appreciated the number of power outlets. We enjoyed our time at Hotel Palace, and exploring the local area and traditional market just a few blocks away. The local food is fantastic, and the Soju is cheap. :) The buffet breakfasts on Floor 2 are light and tasty, and Europeans won't have any problem at all with what's available. Thank you, Hotel Palace, you made our stay in Gyeongju a great one, and your friendly staff assisted us as needed.

Guests have praised the cozy accommodations, although some noted that noise from neighboring rooms can be an issue. The kitchen facilities are minimal—just a kettle—but breakfast is a highlight here!
We stayed at this guest house for the day. Very convenient location to visit various historical sites and walkable distance. The guest house was run by a lovely elderly couple. The lady owner is a traditional dance teacher and her husband is a retired professor. They bought this traditional hanbok house to get away from the city life. The stay include simple American breakfast of toast, jam and egg 🍳. Really good experience for the kids.

Gyeongju Guest House is a popular choice for young Korean visitors due to its convenient location near Gyeongju Station and close proximity to shops, restaurants, and a bus stop for easy access to attractions. The hostel offers a decent-sized common area for socializing and has friendly staff. While some find the price slightly high for the average quality, it's considered one of the few good budget options in central Gyeongju.
I stayed here for 3 nights. The prices are exceptional. I stayed in the females floor in a 4 persons room. only 18000won..in that price included is a free breakfast in the lobby. I met a lot of really nice people here. The owner cares for people who travel alone very well and eventually makes them get to know each other, korean style with beer and soju. the rooms and bathrooms are very clean, but i must say the floor heating was on so the room was very (!) hot.make sure to open your window otherwise you'll sweat like crazy. Gyeongju station is only a 3min walk away and the Busses to Bulguksa temple and Seokguram Grotto are just across the street where you can also find a 7eleven. If you need any help just talk to the owners, they're really nice and helpful ! Enjoy :)

Pretty usual hostel experience. The one downside is you need to pay for most amenities. The breakfast is simple but at least they offer breakfast! I'd really recommend this place for anyone who wants a good cheap place to stay in gyeongju. The location is very good too.
Caleb P — Google review
This is a decent hostel in Gyeongju, the location is very close to the local train station (not the Korea Rail station, which is quite far from the city) and the manager helped us to plan a fantastic itinerary. The price seemed a bit high given the somewhat average quality of the place, but there really are so few options in central Gyeongju that it's probably not a bad deal. The rooms are spacious and have private bathrooms, but there are no keys to the rooms and they only lock from the inside, so you have to lock up your belongings in cabinets inside the rooms whenever you go out. I will caution that the place seemed to be more focused on Korean-speaking visitors and the manager's English might be a bit limited; my partner ended up doing most of the talking in Korean. There also seem to be a few less-helpful assistant managers which seemed a bit grumpy to me. But if you can get past the language barrier then I'd definitely recommend this place.
Marshall W — Google review
Close to many shops and restaurants in Gyeongju, and right next to a bus stop taking you to all the great attractions. Night bicycle tour very good (shows you all the historic sites in the area) but you'll need a translator. Decent sized common area used for drinking and eating (and a chance to mingle). Few bars nearby and most closed early (during chuseok) so we made use of the 7/11 just across the road. Friendly staff,,judging by his photos, the owner has travelled everywhere! Rooms could be a tad cleaner
Benjamin W — Google review
For the minimalistic traveller, it's one of the best deals in town. Located near to the Gyeongju Station, near Downtown area, within walking distance to Anapji Pond and the observatory. Initially the address was confusing. It's along the Gyeongju Train Station towards Bunhwangsa. It's kind of hidden but the signs and Google Maps helped a lil. Breakfast is provided; sufficient to keep you going til lunch. Owner is very hospitable and helpful. Place is old but clean. Went in without expectations and enjoyed it.

Doo-baki Guesthouse is a popular choice for travelers, especially backpackers and budget-conscious visitors. Guests appreciate the opportunity to meet fellow travelers and the friendly, multilingual staff. This place provides everything a traveler needs. Neat room, a clean bed and bathroom, friendly staff, a warm environment, a good location, a bar :), a well-equipped kitchen, and much more. Kaze is a great host who at the same time is a great traveler. It was a big pleasure to get to know him. I hope to visit this place again one day.

This guesthouse has such a fun and funky vibe! The location is excellent, it is surrounded by small shops, cafes, and restaurants, with a bus stop just a minute away. If you're into walking most historical sites are within 20 to 45 minutes on foot. The rooms aren’t modern, but they are clean, comfortable, and feel very safe. There are two spacious common areas filled with small trophies and souvenirs from around the world, which add to the charm. It’s a great place to relax, soak in the friendly atmosphere, and connect with travelers from all over, including many from Korea. Breakfast is provided to get your day started, and the attached bar adds to the social, lively environment. I had such a great experience. I’ll definitely be staying here again next time!

Especially the staff are incredible and will definitely make you have a great time there. Papa Kaze is also awesome and a very nice guy that will make the stay worthwhile:)

Doo-Baki Guesthouse is a budget-friendly and cozy place to stay in Gyeongju, with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. One of the standout features is the free breakfast, which is a great bonus for travelers looking to start their day with a simple meal. The common areas are comfortable, making it easy to meet fellow travelers. However, there are a few downsides to consider. The lockers in the room do not have keys, which may be a security concern for those carrying valuables. Additionally, there are no separate dormitory rooms for men and women, which might be an issue for travelers who prefer gender-specific accommodations. Despite these drawbacks, Doo-Baki Guesthouse is a decent choice for budget travelers who prioritize affordability and a social atmosphere over privacy and security. It’s a convenient base for exploring Gyeongju, but those with security concerns may want to take extra precautions.
Thắng M — Google review
We recently stayed at this hostel during our trip to Korea. To start with the positives, the location is truly excellent, and the price is very budget-friendly, which we really appreciated. However, unfortunately, that’s where the good points end. The rooms were far from clean. The size of the rooms is too small for the number of guests assigned, making the space feel cramped and uncomfortable. Just because a place is cheap doesn’t mean it’s acceptable for it to be dirty. A lower price should reflect simpler amenities, more basic furniture or fewer luxuries, but cleanliness should always be a standard, not a luxury. The bedding had visible stains and instead of replacing a rusted bathtub, the management covered large holes with stickers. We’ve stayed in many budget places around the world, but this was one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve had. Most of the staff seem to be volunteers, which suggests the owner may be cutting corners on essential maintenance and service to save money. It’s clear the place could be much better if more care and investment were put into it. A huge red flag is the owner’s behavior online. We recommend checking the hostel’s responses on Booking.com to negative reviews. The owner frequently responds with extremely unprofessional and offensive comments, often bringing up guests’ nationalities in a clearly discriminatory way (e.g., calling someone a “typical French” or mocking “royal Indian blood”). Thankfully, we never met the owner in person, but based on those replies we’re glad we didn’t. Any feedback you might give will likely be dismissed with the same defensive response: “This is a place for travelers, not tourists!” as if that justifies poor hygiene and disrespectful service. Also, be prepared for noise during the night. While we understand that people want to have fun, loud music blasting from the hostel bar at 4am can be exhausting, even for so-called “travelers.” In summary, while the location and price are great, the condition of the hostel, its cleanliness and the attitude of its owner make it a place we would not return to or recommend.
Ania J — Google review
The tattooed girl very rude. She was extremely late and when we complained she laughed at us, insulting us as we are italians. If you have problems with nationalities, pls change work. And when you are wrong do not laugh at your guests. Change staff if they are not emotionally balanced
Giovanna S — Google review
The hostel is ok, the rooms and toilets are quite clean although I don't feel like I'm in Korea given the finishes but these are details that didn't impact my stay. On the other hand, what can I say about the team of volunteers who party until 5am in the bar downstairs of the hostel with the music blasting and with smokers shouting to communicate in the street. It's a bit ironic especially when you can read on the hostel rules posted on the rooms that you have to be respectful of the place by not making noise at night. If you're looking for a nightclub this is certainly the only one in Gyeongju that gets very quiet after dark. But who do you want to complain to when the hostel seems to be managed only by a team of about ten volunteers...

The rooms were nice and well-maintained. The location was a bit removed from the main attractions of Gyeongju, but it was very close to a bus stop so it was convenient for transportation purposes. The staff (or at least the one lady we saw working there) was incredibly friendly and quite funny. She went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, and I swear that my Korean friend who I was traveling with and this lady became best friends in a few days. Nonstop laughter between the two. Kind of made me wish I knew what they were saying. Their English was pretty good as well for those of you not traveling with a Korean. Would definitely stay here again.

The lady (her hame is Park) running the place is really kind and welcoming. Free water and laundry can also be done free of charge! She can help with the machine as it's in Korean. Great stay. Really recommended!

We had 2 nights at Amorim Motel. The owner is a young dynamic lady who speaks a good English. She is living in the same building so here all the time if needed. The room was spacious, huge TV, small table to eat, bathroom western style. There is free water bottles and a microwave in the hallway. Location is good, a 10 min walk from the main city’s tourist attractions. In conclusion the price quality ratio is excellent.
Emilio — Google review
The price was right, at 49,000 KRW for a twin room. It was also in a great location and the lady was super nice (though she didn't speak much English). The room was fine, nothing to write home about. The hot water and wifi both worked great.

It is a bit old, sort of vintage style (or kitch?), but beds are confortable. It was clean and calm. And the lady was super nice, available and welcoming. A great stay!

⭐EXCELLENT⭐ This guesthouse has clean rooms, friendly (English speaking) staff and good Wifi. The free breakfast was a good bonus. The kitchen and seating area downstairs was clean and plesent to sit at. The location was close to the Intercity bus terminals, local bus stops, restaurants, public transport and a good tourist information centre. We enjoyed our stay here.😊

Pretty good for a guest house. You get your own washroom, but the shower and the toilet are in the same room with a very small divider. Breakfast is self-serve and self-cook eggs. Rooms have air conditioning and a fan. Beware of the weird shower head, though. I recommend this as a cheap but nice place to stay.

Hanok Sodamjeong is a cozy traditional hanok located in the historically rich city of Gyeongju, South Korea. It offers small yet comfortable rooms with floor mats for sleeping, along with efficient heating and air conditioning. The shared kitchen allows guests to prepare their meals. The host is known for being friendly and accommodating, ensuring a clean and traditional environment for visitors.
This is a very small homey traditional hanok in the most historically interesting city in South Korea. It is an easy walk to the Silla dynasty park and burial mounds. The room is small and you will sleep on a floor mat that provides pretty good comfort. The room has good heat and ac. The bathroom and shower are good. It has a shared kitchen area where you can cook. If you want hot tubs and amenities, go elsewhere : this is the legit hanok experience and I wouldn't trade that for a night at the Ritz. Lifetime memory. (I strongly recommend that you rent a three wheeled electric scooter to get around the park. You can ride it clear down to the National History Museum. Well worth it!)

This time I stayed on the second floor. When I entered the house, I saw a large bathtub next to the living room. There was no privacy. The house is very elegant. It is suitable for sitting down to make a cup of tea or coffee, listen to the light music, and relax. The owner provides tea and coffee making tools, tea leaves and coffee beans in the house. There are also air aromatherapy sprays and bath salts, so that you can relax your body and mind after staying here and have a spiritual bath during the holiday. Junny is a wonderful host that cares a lot about her guests. We spent 4 nights in Gyeongju and were a bit worried if we can fill the days with enough things to do. Junny helped us to make planes for every day and gave many recomendations for our further travels. In the end Gyeongju offers a lot. If you like nature and historic sites Gyeongju is good for more than a daytrip. The guesthouse is very clean and calm. It is also perfectly located.

I really loved this small guesthouse. It's pretty new so everything is quite clean with superb location. Very quiet setting with nice soft music in the lounge area. Bed was adequately firm, water pressure was awesome in the bathroom which was inside the room. (I guess all rooms in this guesthouse have its own bathroom) Only one downside was the breakfast. Although it was free self-cooking one(bread, egg and coffee), coffee powder in the coffee machine was too little considering the amount of the water filled in, so it was way too weak like drinking coffee flavored water... and there is no butter for the bread! :(

Yettle Hanok Stay is a traditional Korean house located in Gyeongju, South Korea. This hanok boasts original roofs and is constructed using environmentally friendly materials such as wood, stones, clay, straw, and rice paper. The property offers a serene garden and provides free WiFi along with a shared kitchen for guests' convenience. The owner is described as energetic and helpful, offering guidance on local attractions and transportation.
Special shoutout to the hosts. Mr. And Mrs Jung made me feel like home and I had a great night in Gyeongju. I will definitely come back and stay here!
Amulya S — Google review
We have stayed in this Hanok for three nights. Expecting some relaxing days at the traditional Korean house. The house is renewed and has some nice rooms, but some have mold in it (like the tea room and bath room). The host is friendly and tries to help with any questions, but he is also very intense and intrusive. That is expressed in various situations which I wished to have known beforehand. Wake up time is at 8 o' clock each day. The host knocks on your door until you're awake and reply to his morning greeting ritual. As long as you're around he is constantly checking in with you, not providing any privacy. Furthermore, he turns of the heater for showers each day so there's no warm water between 10am and 6pm. Our private bathroom was on the other side of the yard only equipped with hand towels and in very bad shape. There was no window, no ventilation and only equipped with one light bulb. Most inconvenient was actually the check out. We wanted to leave at 10 and were asked to leave earlier several times. At 9:55 the host actually pushed us out and closed the door behind us immediately to start cleaning.

We had an one night lovely stay at this place. Owner is super nice and helpful. He is very energetic to show you around the place and give information on where to go and how to get there. This place is a very beautiful renovated traditional Korean house. It's also very convenient to get to all the highlights in the city on foot. Luckily we were almost alone while we were staying there. No noise from outside could be heard, only the birds in the morning. I can imagine it being more noisy if there is a full booking with several parties occupying all the rooms since the walls are very thin because it's an old Korean house. Highly recommend staying here.

We spent a night at the place in July. The host was incredibly nice, explained and recommended places to visit, where to eat, etc. and gave us breakfast, even though it wasn’t included in our booking. Then, the hanok was very charming and very well conditioned. In particular, I really appreciated its extraordinary sealing; In a city where spiders aren't uncommon, I never saw a single bug anywhere inside.

The hosts made the experience! They were incredibly friendly, attentive, helpful, charming, and really fun to chat with. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They made us breakfast in the morning even though we hadn’t paid for any breakfast. The building is lovely, in the traditional Hanok style. The shower was really hot and nice. There’s no AC but the rooms still stayed decently cool. The location is really great, walkable to a lot of places and easy cab ride if it’s raining (like it was for us). Hope to visit again soon!

And moreover it was unknow people who did it (people we never saw before and who were cleaning the guest house) - towels were never change in few days... - Breakfast was quite simple

HANJIN HOSTEL is conveniently situated near various historical attractions in Gyeongju, such as Hwangnidan-gil Road, Shilla Daejong, and Cheonmachong. It's just a short 20-minute walk from Gyeongju Station. The owner, Mr. Kwon, is known for his warm hospitality and extensive knowledge of the area as a tour guide. Guests appreciate the cozy and traditional Korean-style rooms at this welcoming hostel.
The host is super kind and helpful and good at english. The korean with best english i met so far. They gave me a lot of helps and kind advices during my time in gyeongju. This is a warm and tiny hostel. You can meet friends here and enjoy your time in gyeongju. The room is cozy and lovely. I have a really nice time here. Highly recommend to stay here. This is a traditional korean hostel with korean style hospitality. The best hostel in gyeongju.

This hostel is still operational, and I was the only guest in a 4-bed room—perhaps the whole place. It's quiet, accessible from the bus station, and 15-minute walking distance to the middle of attractions. The hostel is turning 50 - and it definitely shows its age. The rooms are floor-heated, halls are wood-paneled, light switch is outside the room, and the hostel exudes this old-town Korea aura. I believe it also doubles as the home of the host. Roaming around the place, there are many objects of interest that have likely been sitting idly by for years. Old books, magazines, a whiteboard filled with traveler messages, etc. Definitely steeped in stories and history. The host/owner of the place is also welcoming and friendly. Gave good recommendations on places to go. Overall, this was a great base for me. Not ideal for those who want modern hotel-style convenience—and would probably be difficult if it gets crowded as there's only 2 showers—but if you want to stay in a cool, historical, antique place for your Gyeongju trip, this would be a good one.

It was very close to bus terminal which made it easy to travel to and fro to any place in gyeongju. Absolutely loved the interiors. It felt so warm with all those testimonials and pictures who lived previously.. it felt like home and didn't feel like just a place to live. The owner was very warm and makes you feel like he's known you for years. This is one of my best stays in Korea. As the slogan of this places goes...'if you haven't stayed at hanjin then you haven't been to gyeongju' and Its a truth.

The best hostel EVER! Note that this is a very old school and no frills type of place, but perfect if you’re looking for somewhere quiet, safe, and a place that will really remind you of a backpacker’s haven. Clint, the owner, is the coolest man in all of South Korea!

The Hanjin Hostel is the best place to stay in Gyeongju in my opinion. It is right next to the bus station, a short walk from the train station and is ran by a tour guide. All of this made my trip to Gyeongju so much more relaxing and easier. The tour guide (Mr.Kwon) even speaks English, Korean and Japanese, which was extremely helpful for us. He supplies maps of the area and can recommend so many places to go in the area. You can tell he is passionate about where he lives and this makes him the more perfect hostel owner you could want. Air con, clean sheets, a garden, communal area and more make this the Hostel of choice for me.

Friendly hostel! Feel like home. The owner speak very good English and is very helpfull. He explained to us about Gyeongju and the places we should visit. He even gave us map and post cards (and he send the postcards for free). Stayed there for 4 nights in a room with private bathroom. The room was big, in it is a double bed and a bunk bed so it could fit for 4 people, but I was only with my mom. We paid 40.000 won for one night. It is not for someone who love clean, all white and perfect hotels, its for people who love to feel like at home even they are far away from home. P.s: Thank you for the friendly service and watermelon Mr.Clint Kwon!

We stayed for six days and were very satisfied. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. His english is good if you need any tips for what to do in the area. Conveniently close to the main cafe strip, it provides a sense of privacy. Guests can easily make reservations through Naver and enjoy early check-in. While the shower shoes provided may need better cleaning, the overall experience is cozy and pleasant with its central location.
The place was spotless and spacious. I have always wanted to experience a hanok stay. I am grateful to be able to find such an amazing place. It looks new and traditional all at the same time. The beds were so comfortable, the wifi was strong, great channel on the tv and big bathroom for us to use. Also it was our first time experiencing ondol (underfloor heating) and it was interesting. The location was perfect. Very close to the main cafe strip but still has the sense of privacy. The accommodation also provides light breakfast in the morning. The owner was such a friendly person and helpful in getting us a taxi ride back to train station. Thank you for letting me practice my broken Korean. I definitely need to work more on it.

Everything was very, very nice. I would be careful of the shower shoes that are provided: they seemed only superficially washed, as I could see greenish/black material on the surface of the holes in the foot bed through to the sole. Plus, if you step down onto the shower shoe, it can 100% slip out from under you and cause you to fall so be very, very careful.

(Translated by Google) The place is wrong. I looked at this Google map and made a reservation through Agoda without any doubt... but there is a completely different Adamjeong. The address was the same, and if you look closely, there are two Adamjeongs at that address... In reality, it's a really shabby and shabby place... When I complained, they asked me which site it was on... It seemed like they had no idea... Google Maps. It seems wrong... But I wonder where the people who posted reviews here have been.

(Translated by Google) A very pleasant stay. A welcoming and charming family. Very good Korean breakfast. I gave it 3 stars because the housekeeping was a bit limited and there was only air conditioning in the bedrooms; the rest of the house was extremely hot. (Original) Una estancia muy agradable. Sillabang Guesthouse is a charming and convenient accommodation option located in Hwangridan-gil, Gyeongju. The guesthouse offers rustic charm and easy access to nearby attractions such as the traditional Hanok night view, Daereungwon for a refreshing summer experience, and the famous culture street. It's also close to Bomunho Lake and the picturesque Gyeongju Green Barley Field.
Very clean, and a cool experience to try a Korean traditional hanok. The management wasn't around when we arrived, make sure to communicate your arrival time beforehand.

(Translated by Google) It seems like it's been open for a few years, but I just created the item myself. A cost-effective Hanok guesthouse. Although it is said that it is a disadvantage that it is not easy to meet the owner, personally, it was an advantage. I can't even smell the bathroom. It's a pity that I don't have a cathode ray tube TV, and the winter wind (?) seems unavoidable. The atmosphere of the yard is quite nice. Parking wasn't difficult and accessibility to Gyeongju Station was good.

(Translated by Google) It was nice to be able to have such a cozy and warm time in Gyeongju, where I went for the first time in a long time! I wanted to spend some time quietly, so I booked a place for a healing trip with my boyfriend. The surroundings were quiet and parking was easy. The room was spacious enough for two people, and I thought it would have been nice enough for four people, so I decided to go on a couple's trip next time. The real touching point was that there was an air fryer and a washer and dryer in the lobby, which surprised me... It's not a hotel... It's my first time at such a detailed accommodation...!! My boyfriend and I decided to come back in the summer, thinking that even if I sweat, I'll be dry the next day. I had a great rest, so I don't write reviews, but I tried it. Thanks to you, I had a good rest! thank you! It would be nice if there was always a guide at the front desk 😅 There are 7-Eleven and Shitamachi Shokudo nearby, and there are also many historical sites that you can enjoy🙆 Take your time 🙆 (Original)
