It features air conditioning, a bar and a shared lounge, as well as all units having a seating area, equipped kitchenette with dishwasher and oven, dining area and private bathroom with hairdryer. Some of the rooms have patio or balcony. The hotel offers continental or la carte breakfast.
Very nice and clean accommodation. The location is very quiet and there's a lovely garden. The accommodation is very clean and the pool is well-maintained. The breakfast is okay, but unfortunately it could be a bit more extensive. We would definitely come back!

The property having a concept of hostels, 5 private bedrooms and you need to pay for every items in the kitchen including tea n coffee.. this place for family gatherings and book the whole house.. beautiful landscape and internet working in living room only..

Everything was amazing. The room was a great size and an awesome balcony. Beautiful location and the goats and other animals made it so nice. Breakfast was provided and was fresh every day. There was a beautiful pool that I can’t wait to go back and try when it is warmer.
Rob H — Google review
5 star place to stay. A great experience. Wake up in the country with a serene atmosphere and beautiful goats in property. The rooms are amazing and the staff were great. I have stayed here a few times and it never disappoints
Fernando E — Google review
We had such and amazing, relaxing, and peaceful trip here. We unfortunately were only there for 1 night but I so wish it had been longer. It was really such a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Coimbra. We drove here parking on the property was very easy. We took an Uber into town for dinner and to explore and it was less than 10 minutes to get to the city center. The property was beautiful, the goats are so cute and the pool area was perfect. The room was fantastic, I think I had the best sleep I have ever had in my life. Silvia was the nicest host ever, she was so helpful with all of her recommendations. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. Highly highly recommend this place if you are visiting Coimbra!
Josephine M — Google review
We stayed two nights at Granja da Cabrita and were super satisfied with our stay. We felt welcome from the first second, rooms are quite big, clean and modern. Communication was perfect. Would definitely recommend booking with Granja da Cabrita. Everything was perfect.
Jan G — Google review
What an amazing property and host! Our 2 year old loved the pool, fruit trees, and especially the goats! Breakfast was delicious and service was so friendly! It is only a short drive to Coimbra city center.

Hotel
Hotel Vila Galé Coimbra is a modern and polished hotel offering contemporary rooms and suites with balconies. The hotel features a spa, two pools, and two restaurants. It is located by the river, less than a kilometer from the city center. Guests can enjoy free breakfast, an outdoor pool, and Wi-Fi in the rooms. While it's a bit of a walk to town, the pleasant pool area and well-appointed rooms make for a comfortable stay.
Staff service minded. We'll trained. Recommend. Typical room climate control problems. Shoulder season, room cannot cool down.
Franco P — Google review
Disappointing experience. Rooms lack the basics like: - bottled water - coffee/tea facilities - robes and slippers Room are spacious but dated. Some of the rooms are tiled and others carpeted. Avoid the tiled room in winter. They are cold. The selling point for me was the indoor pool. Nothing beats a nice swim and jacuzzi session after a long day of sightseeing and walking. The pool however was extremely chlorinated which made swimming uncomfortable and unbearable after a few minutes.
Sandro M — Google review
NOT a 4 star experience in any way. It’s in an iffy part of town, the food is ok, the public areas are nice but the rooms are worn. The front desk told us we needed to be a FIVE STAR hotel to get Kleenex and body lotion!!! He said that was the Villa Gale standard. Good grief!
Susan B — Google review
Amazing hotel! If i ever visit Coimbra again this will be my only option! Great breakfast, spacious rooms, very clean, attentive and polite staff and a beautiful exterior with a large overflow pool. Great value for money too. Walking distance of 10-15 minutes to most sights.
Angela C — Google review
Great place, enjoyed our stay! Nico and Rafael were amazing two folks who took care of us! If we come back to Coimbra we will definitely stay here!
Tanvir A — Google review
In 10-15 min walk you are in the center with many great restaurants. Hotel has a spa which needs to be booked in advance - a slot of 45 min. Rather rudimentary but does the trick to relax a bit. Outdoor pool is nice but often crowded. Aircon was quite loud. Hotel Staff is super friendly and very helpfull Breakfast was a bit a mess and super busy, eventhough that you find everything you want in decent quality. I assume hotel was quite booked. :)
Andreas S — Google review
We have booked a Room for 3, couple with a child. But they gave three single bed. One was the sofa bed. Was not expected from four star hotel. Food was very good along with the swimming pool. Swimming pool staff were very friendly.

Hotel
Sapientia Boutique Hotel is a personalized hotel located in Coimbra, close to the university and other attractions. The 22 rooms are uniquely designed with a minimalist style and named after Portuguese literary figures. The hotel offers a stylish tapas bar, rooftop terrace, and attention to detail such as welcome wine and thoughtful design elements. It was transformed from three architecturally distinct buildings into one chic hotel by two pairs of architects.
Great hotel with an amazing location in Coimbra. Great view! The restaurant served a great dinner (try the fries!). The rooms were just fine. Parking though can be a challenge if you aren't lucky enough to park in front of the hotel. Overall it was a great place to stay in Coimbra!
Roberto L — Google review
It's a nice little boutique hotel, with a small restaurant and a general cozy feel to it. I liked the room and its cleanliness. I had asked for gluten-free breakfast at the time of booking (3 days ahead) and mentioned it again upon check-in. Unfortunately, they only had a a couple of breads and then said the gluten-free options had finished. That's not a nice thing to happen, when you explicitly advised ahead of time. The very reason the place only received a 3-star rating from me.
Guido P — Google review
The hotel is in a great location, unfortunately reception staff (in the afternoon as we checked in) was pretty unhelpful in most matters. Our room was a “loft room” - you had to climb on a couch to just about reach the windows, the air conditioning didn’t work, we had to walk up two flights of stairs with our luggage at checkout. Accessibility score = 0
Ulrike E — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at the hotel. Margarita welcomed us with great kindness and professionalism, and did her best to help with everything we asked for. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well equipped with everything you might need. Very clean rooms and excellent service. At dinner there was quite a rush — our mistake for not reserving in advance — so the kitchen was busy and it took some time for the dishes to arrive. Breakfast was excellent and fresh. Thank you for everything!
Michal B — Google review
Great Boutique hotel. Clean. Big sized room but bathroom for our room was a bit awkward. Very creative in its use of space but took too long to refill toilet, and you can hear the water running via the metal frame/casing of the bathroom. And everything echoes. You can hear people from other rooms. Hopefully we were not disruptive with our TV. Staff are excellent and friendly. Location only good if you are visiting the university and a few other sites but Ubers had difficulty navigating through narrow streets. Included breakfast was great. According to my family, best scrambled eggs among all hotel breakfasts.
L&M L — Google review
We had the superior apartment and it was incredible. Food here is amazing, service, everything. We couldn’t be happier.
Kate M — Google review
Hotel pictures are not exactly accurate. The bathrooms are a Pod ( mobile insert) in the rooms. “2nd” bedroom or bed is a pull out twin. WiFi is non existent. No rental car parking and staff seem annoyed that you ask for parking. Hotel looks beautiful and quaint but deceiving since location is strange. Don’t expect to get WiFi/ reception nor friendly service if you have a car.
Kauser S — Google review
The hotel is in an excellent location, especially for those interested in the university area. Parking issues should be taken into account, the hotel only has five parking spaces on a free basis. The food at the hotel is excellent, except for the lack of vegetables at breakfast, the hotel staff is courteous and exceptionally helpful. We must mention one of the waiters, Joel, who served us at dinner, which was particularly delicious and his service was extraordinary, kind, humorous and helpful. In conclusion, it is highly recommended!

Hotel Mondego offers a comfortable and modern stay near the Mondego River. The newly renovated building provides quiet double rooms with nice views. Guests appreciate the outstanding service from the friendly and helpful staff, such as Ines at Reception, who goes above and beyond to assist with sightseeing and dining recommendations. The spacious rooms are clean and well-maintained, featuring large beds for a restful night's sleep.
Beautiful, clean hotel with helpful attentive staff. Check in was very smooth and we were allocated a room on the first floor. The room was a good size for us with a window overlooking a small square. Spotlessly clean, plenty of towels, tea and coffee, fresh clean linen. Large comfy bed and pillows. Lovely little rooftop bar looking onto the old town. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, many speciality coffees. Highly recommended.
Scott W — Google review
We stayed in the hotel from Friday 13th - Sunday 15th June 2025. The welcome and care from all the staff was excellent. The rooms are very comfortable, even being on a main street it was quiet. The breakfast is pleasant. The location is excellent for all parts of this beautiful, historic city. Thank you.

Hotel Mondego is stunning, though it's centred in the heart of Coimbra, its real heart comes from its amazing staff. The reception team are always delightful no matter the hour, the cleaners are absolute gems who deal with all number of tasks with a sunny attitude, and Inês is a one-woman powerhouse manning the incredible rooftop bar, having brill recommendations, and being a treat to interact with. Easily the standout person I met in Portugal. Couldn't recommend it more!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Montego in Coimbra! The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed during our short visit. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and very comfortable. Even though we only stayed for one day, everything from check-in to check-out was perfect. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Coimbra!

Great hotel. Centrally located with easy access to all of Coimbra. The staff were absolutely amazing and did an exceptional job. We were at this hotel for our 30th anniversary and the staff made special arrangements to decorate the room for the occasion. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the vibrant heart of Coimbra, JR Studios & Suites offers a delightful blend of contemporary design and cozy charm. The accommodations are thoughtfully furnished with cleanliness in mind, featuring a small kitchen and compact shower for your convenience. Guests can unwind in serene outdoor spaces after exploring the nearby neighborhoods filled with restaurants and attractions. While parking is available right outside or at a larger lot around the corner (both paid), be prepared for some noise during local events—especially graduation week!
Very clean and comfortable. Easy to check in but a little surprised that we had to do everything ourselves as regards check-in and communicate somehow with the cleaner to see if our room was ready ( she only spoke Portuguese and we only speak English, Spanish, French, some Chinese and a little Arabic. Still, we managed to understand one another and had a very pleasant stay.
Paul A — Google review
The rooms looked nice but when you turn on the air it smells terrible so we had to sleep with the window open, noise and all. In the morning when we went to shower there was NO hot water. Great location, fantastic service through Expedia, but overall I would not book again.
Cassie B — Google review
I wouldn't come back. The rooms are tidy and clean, but parts are falling apart. All of that is acceptable, though. What's really bad is the noise. The hotel is located on a roundabout, which is used by motorcycle groups to accelerate for races, especially at night. Every few minutes, an engine revs up, so loud that the bed vibrates. Sleeping is impossible, even with earplugs and the windows completely closed. Add to that the parties with loud bass on the ground floor. The owner is nice.
Tess — Google review
We did not have direct contact with anyone to comment on service. We parked in the neighboring public lot. The room was small but adequate, a true double bed- not two twins pushed together, so quite small. It was not quiet, but also not so loud for us, but you do want an eye mask if light bothers you as there were no proper curtains. The street light fully illuminated our room at night so a mask was a must, but with that we slept well.
Gretchen L — Google review
Really nice stay, all clean comfortable and with a great design and decorating. Location is wonderful to walk to the touristic city center (must crossing the bridge). It has a parking right behind the building and a nice restaurant next door. Just the exhaust of the bathroom was quite noisy, apart from that, perfect stay.
José B — Google review
Our room was clean and fresh. Easy access to the University of Coimbra. Uber cost €3-5 for a ride to the entrance for tours. We were able to walk(in our 60’s) back to our room with little trouble. Stop at the restaurant Sete for a delicious meal. Lamb shank was superb. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a stay here.
M A — Google review
Great location, quiet and clean. Got almost everything we needed except for a hot water pot. Bigger mugs would be nice.

Fantastic guest house. Graça and João are wonderful hosts. The rooms are super clean and the breakfast is excellent with lots of choices. Nice shared public room to sit and read or work. Good wifi. Easy to walk anywhere in Coimbra from here. Highly recommend.

The owner’s daughter in law was so sweet. She even helped my husband park in a tight spot on the street. Room was clean and had all my favorite colors- teal! Breakfast was yummy. Fresh squeezed orange juice and owner’s daughter in law made a lemon cake and I had 2 slices it was so good and I’m not a lemon desert person. Eggs anyway you liked it. Liked being in an older home. Felt safe with the locks and key pad in the front door.
Courtney T — Google review
We can not say enough positive things about our stay with Graçe and João. We usually stay in an AirBnB for kitchen but you have use of well stocked and clean kitchen here. Graça set us up each morning with an extensive, varied, generous and delicious breakfast each morning with eggs to order and fresh squeezed orange juice. The listing says 4 star hotel but we disagree. The accomodations, cleanliness, design, graciousness, attentiveness surpass any top 5 star hotel. Having trained in microbiology, I'm especially sensitive to food handling and having worked in hospitality and food safety training know what to look for behind the scenes. We were so impressed with the hotel standards and Graça's careful preparation. Kitchen exceeds any compliance. But more than any of that is República House is a home and after 7 nights we were sad with saudade to leave our new family. If your travel schedule does not fit a stay in one of the lovely individually decorated rooms here, you need to rearrange your schedule so you do not miss this special opportunity to experience Portuguese hospitality and meet Graça and João. Your life will be enriched for having done so.

Outstanding hospitality! Above and beyond in so many ways. Safe and comfortable. We felt very cared for. Only down side is the doors and hallways carry sound, so you tend to hear other guests easily. Despite that, our stay was quite lovely.

A very nice and friendly guesthouse close to the old town. The owner and his wife make sure you have a nice stay in Coimbra. Our room was small, I'd say perfect for one night. The breakfast with good coffee and cake and fresh orange juice. We got nice recommendations for Coimbra sightseeing and restaurants. Thank you for the good time in Coimbra.
Erich K — Google review
The room was very clean and one can sense the pride in trying to make things perfect. The room my wife booked was smaller than we are accustomed to but it was very nice. The owner was extremely pleasant and helpful. Being we arrived on a Sunday we were able to park right in front of the property and not have to worry about the parking meter or parking elsewhere.

Graça is an incredibly welcoming hostess and friendliest ambassador for Portugal! She treated me like family from the first interaction. Her beautiful guest house has been in the family for generations and has been tastefully restored. The inside common areas and outdoor patio are perfect for relaxing when not in your room. Close to the center and the university. Don’t hesitate to book this one.

Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas is a luxurious five-star hotel located in an 18th-century castle, offering upscale dining, two pools, and a spa with a sauna and gym. Situated in the hills above Coimbra, this former nobleman's palace features botanical gardens, state-of-the-art spa facilities with city views, two exceptional restaurants including the Michelin-starred Arcadas da Capela, a wine cellar, outdoor pool, Turkish bath and steam room.
Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas is a historic mansion with a large garden. I booked it in a rush, without fully realizing this unique feature—but it’s impossible not to be impressed. I stayed in one of the suite rooms on the ground floor, which included a separate entrance hall, a spacious bedroom and bathroom, and even a small private garden. The furniture matched the hotel’s historical charm and was also quite comfortable. In the evening, I dined at the Arcadas restaurant located inside the hotel—it was as elegant and exquisite as the hotel itself. The next morning, I explored the garden right after waking up. Part of it is reserved for golf, but the more enchanting area is where trails wind through the trees and lead you up the hills—perfect for a bit of trekking. I spent half a day in nature and got a great workout. Although I only stayed one night, I can confidently say this hotel ranks among the top three I’ve ever experienced. I would absolutely love to return. Lastly, my compliments and sincere thanks to the wonderful hotel staff.

We really enjoyed our stay at the whimsical hotel. The land on which the property is located is sprawling and well maintained - we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds. The room allocated to us was very comfortable and conveniently located. The service level was excellent. We enjoyed our meals at the restaurant. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a romantic setting that is a bit out-of-the-box.

We stayed one night at this hotel. Upon entering, the hotel appears luxurious with an elegant check in area accompanied by lovely spa type water. The bellman was delightful as he brought us to our room. Our room, a garden room, however, was mediocre, at best. It smelled extremely musty and felt tired as did a lot of the hotel. We did enjoy the spa facilities and outdoor pool as those seemed to be well maintained. I’m sure at one time it was five star worthy, but to walk down the hall with beautiful sconces only to see them adorned with even a few cobwebs was disappointing. This hotel has incredible potential and with a much needed glam up and full gut renovation in some areas can return to its original 5 star grandeur.

Beautiful, well maintained grounds. Incredible service. Saunas and spa onsite with both indoor and outdoor pools. We had a garden terrace view room which was lovely, spacious, and clean. About a 15 minute walk to the university area. Two restaurants onsite and breakfast service in the mornings until 10:30 am. Would definitely recommend and visit again!

A beautiful Palace is rich in history of the area. The entrance up the driveway is spectacular and the service here is top notch. They will ensure that you have the best time and everything you need.

Beautiful hotel. Great Service. A bit of a walk to the old town/university. We walked vs taking car to the top and back which took a bit of time but hotel was worth it.

This hotel was probably the best hotel I have ever been to! I give a full 5 star to everything in this hotel, the place, the reception, the rooms, the breakfast....+ very very friendly stuff 👏 It actually is a Castel. A perfect place for those who like history. Just when I entered the place I felt like a queen 👸🏻 100% worth ur money!

Hotel Oslo Coimbra is a family-run establishment located in the old historic center of Coimbra, offering modern and comfortable rooms with stunning city views. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast featuring local delicacies like rabacal cheese and pasteis de tentugal at the rooftop bar. The hotel provides free extras such as breakfast, WiFi, and parking to ensure a convenient and enjoyable stay. Its prime location allows easy access to local attractions, encouraging guests to immerse themselves in Portuguese culture and cuisine.
Probably the nicest staff in all of Portugal. So helpful. Room was great. Beds very comfortable. The rooftop bar is small but quiet and perfect. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. After you check in they will explain how to park in the lot across the street for free. It was a breeze and very helpful.

I really liked this hotel. Rooms are compact but really nice and all I wanted. It is well located for walking almost everywhere. Breakfasts are lovely. The rooftop bar is delightful, and you can get really lovely snack food which is great if you are tired and don’t want to go out for dinner. All the staff, from the front desk to the bar, are friendly and ever so helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if you are going to Coimbra.
Sarah F — Google review
The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, right off the main thoroughfare with sheltered parking across the street. All major sites are within walking distance. The hotel isn't the poshest of the lot, has 6 floors with a wonderful terrace which overlooks the old town. Breakfast was served on the top floor and once again, wasn't the best of what we had but did the job. The rooms are small, we were offered an upgrade for a small fee which got us a two room one bathroom unit. The furnishings were slightly dated.
Khashayar S — Google review
Excellent hotel with unbeatable views of the city. The quality/price ratio is unbeatable. Had a fantastic stay. Amazing client service & Paul the concierge is a maestro in knowing the city. Ask him whatever you want!
Karim A — Google review
Great location central to everything touristy. We had a city view room, which means it was on the busy street side, but the noise disappears as soon as the windows are closed. The view from the roof is spectacular! Staff was always very nice and helpful.
Kristie F — Google review
A budget hotel that really is 3 star only but at 5 star prices. A great location but lacking character. The breakfast was of very poor quality served in a room with all the charm of a motorway service station. Staff were great, as is usual in Portugal but pleased we only stayed one night.
Rennie V — Google review
A VERY mediocre experience for an uneduqite price. The hotel is located perfectly in the city with an amazing view from the roof top. But the quality of the whole place leaves much to be desired. It's an old hotel that hasn't been renovated or refreshed since the early 2000s. It seems from the comments here that they offer an upgrade to almost anyone - ourselves included. It was an additional 25€ a night for a "bigger" room one floor higher with a balcony. We didn't take it. Our room had a distinctive old carpet/furniture smell that was almost choking if not ventilated after a whole day out. Most of the furnishings were dated and scrappy, not dirty, but worn out and clanky. The rooms are really small, we struggled to set our luggage open (and I don't accept saying that it's a historic city center where there is limited space - you could build a hotel with fewer but bigger rooms, the size of the room is a consious choice by the owner to cram more people in). There was no fridge in the room, nor a kettle or drinking glasses (only a set of two paper cups). The bathroom was also small - you basically touch the wall of the shower with your toes when sitting on the toilet and get the toilet paper rack poking you in the side. The pressure in the shower is very low and the space in the shower itself is really tight. I don't recommend this place for older or bigger people - it'll be tough to get around. Additionally, there was a bad sewer smell coming from the toilet. Walls are paper thin. The breakfast is nothing special. The food is mediocre at best. Given the choices in the city, it's not that bad but comparing it to other hotels in Lisbon or Porto it's well below average.

Located on the banks of the river in a relaxed setting, this hotel offers comfortable suites with a lounge and breakfast. It is popular with groups and has friendly staff.
nice and clean small hohel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. we felt very much at home and would love to come back one day. we liked the place being very authentic and the staff was great. there also was a francesinha festival right inter park 5 min away (easy walk) they told us about. loved that, too!

Great little stopover place when in Coimbra , nice and clean and pleasent staff. Only negative is for the price breakfast should be included but a good few cafes etc on the doorstep.

Great cute hotel along the river in Coimbra. Lovely lounge area and outside patios. Clean rooms! Good variety for breakfast and the staff is so welcoming.

Room was basic but comfortable bed. Air con and good shower. Small hotel in a row of restaurants. Free parking available in public car park 5 minutes walk. Only had contact with receptionist who was friendly and helpful with good English.
Barbara T — Google review
This is not a bad hotel; the room was spacious (but bathroom was cramped). No coffee/tea in room. No elevator if you have a room in building 1 (building 2 has an elevator but you cannot cross except at ground floor). But the staff will carry your bag up/down the steps (they’re quite insistent about this). Great location in theory, but when we were there the students were having all night parties right across the street. On top of that, despite being on top floor, there were constant thumps and bumps that seemed to be coming from above. And the fire alarm went off at 2am. Was happy to leave as that amounted to two nights of bad sleep. Another time in another room and perhaps the hotel would be fine.
Graham W — Google review
Good: Very nice and helpful reception staff (who speak very good English). Very clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Good double glazing of the windows. Not expensive by the standards of Coimbra. Less than 10 minutes' walk from the old town. Not so good: Breakfast coffee is instant. The road in front is noisy.

The best thing about this hotel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are small. The location is good, a short walk across the river to tourist sites.

The Luggage Hostel & Suites is a charming hotel set in an elegant 1900s mansion, offering comfortable and airy accommodations. Located within walking distance of Sebastiao Aqueduct and the University of Coimbra, this 2-star hotel provides rooms with air conditioning and private bathrooms. Guests can enjoy Wi-Fi throughout the property and relax at the bar or terrace. The spacious rooms are designed in an old-fashioned yet romantic way, featuring very comfortable beds.
This was a beautiful old house at one point and it’s been turned into a very nice boutique Hotel complete with a morning breakfast if you want to add it on. My room was very comfortable and clean and it had everything I really needed. There could’ve been a little bit more convenient Phone charging outlets, but I made do. This hotel is also very conveniently located to the hub of the university with all the restaurants, shops, and of course, the university itself to explore.. I particularly liked the little breakfast room the next morning, as it was very sunny and pleasant with a view of Coimbra , including the prison that everyone thinks is a church. The breakfast itself was delicious as well as the coffee which was most welcomed early in the morning. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, especially Tony. Thanks for a nice stay.

We just stayed here one day with my two kids and night time was too noise until 01.00 am. There were no facilities in the room such as slippers and a kettle. We stayed in the roof top and it cannot be said that it was comfortable. The employees looked fed up, tired and unhappy. I don’t know why😅 and The only good thing about breakfast was the croissant The coffee was the worst I've ever had. I think he ran out of coffee. Employees tried to fill up coffee but they could not succeed loooonnggg time 😅

Wow, what lovely people! I wasn’t even staying here, but my hotel (Despertar Saudade, which I do not recommend) wasn’t open and I needed somewhere to leave my stuff. The folks here were beyond gracious; let me leave my stuff for free, offered me water and coffee, invited me to sit in their beautiful breakfast room, gave me personal recommendations for a tour of the town… the facility was beautiful from what I saw as well. I wish I had stayed here and would recommend them to anyone.

we enjoyed our visit, rooms were spacious, clean bathrooms, nice breakfast on the terrace. Really enjoyed that this is an old villa under great management Advise: if you arrived at the bus station - call uber to get to the hotel (appx 3€) - because the hotel is on the hill

Dirty Room (mold, stains and insects), Reception not available (Internet states reception is open: Opening hours: 7:30 am to 10:30 pm but no-one was there after 8 pm and no staff present at location during the night). We left the same evening without spending the night. But 10 minutes after checkin around 8pm the reception staff had already left. The hotel did not even bother apologizing or replying to our emails. I do not like writing reviews like this but it was all the opposite of good service.
Benedict B — Google review
Excellent location but that is it ! Bathroom toilet door could not close and therefore no privacy. Shower leaked all over the floor - not of the bathroom but everywhere. Blinds did not work. No housekeeping to clean the room (we were there for 4 nights). No door knobs to be able to open and use the cupboards - can go on. Sadly very disappointing.
Rob S — Google review
The reality was unfortunately weak. The hotel looks nice and it really is. But: The doors are closed and you need a code and at the same time I would be afraid to sleep with the window open because it is very easy to get inside. In the bathroom in my room, the shower hung so high that the shorter person hardly reached it, the door did not close and the water did not drain. Paid water in the HOTEL room is probably an exaggeration. Dirty windows, both in the room and in the dining room. Breakfast very average. I would like to add that I am writing about the HOTEL part and not about the hostel.

Just a perfect place to stay when you are in Coimbra. Large and comfortable room, clean bathroom and showers and outstanding breakfast. When I was there it was a bit empty so I didn’t get to meet too many people, but the location is super close (100m) to the local student’s nightlife center which is awesome.

While it may not be within close proximity to the main attractions, it is conveniently situated near various transportation options, supermarkets, and dining establishments. The place is a bit old but it was a Clean place with a comfortable bed and nice rooms and friendly service and hot water definitely works! The location was great so close to supermarkets and go downtown or train station not that far! Nice location not uphill as well ! It needs to improve with the kitchen utensils and electric kettle !

On my first day in Portugal and faced too many problems at the hotel. This hotel is a total scam. The room was not the same as in the pictures. The toilet is right next to the bed and was all open, the whole room smelled like a toilet.
Sona Z — Google review
I didn’t even get to stay. They overbook people and then send you to a disgusting hotel they have nearby that is nowhere close to meeting the conditions expected for the price you’ve paid. To top everything off with my experience, they assured Booking (service provider I used to book my stay) that I ended up staying in the alternative they gave me when that isn’t true. I had to find myself an emergency air bnb and end up paying a little bit more.
Aldara M — Google review
Looks cozy but the sheets and towels were dirty (maybe just stained). There was no heating and the WI-FI only worked for half an hour. The water doesn't get very hot so you're left in a semi freezing room in winter. There was an extra blanket and that is the only thing that helped. The price was very accessible though.
Raquel A — Google review
First of all, we arrived and did not have the room we reserved, nobody told us. Second of all, the room we finally got was so dirty that i had to buy products to clean the room up myself ! We also had two cockroach for company during our stay, at least they were quiet compared to our neighbourgs. This place is a mess, not expensive for sure, but if you can put 5euros more by day i recommande you to run away as fast&far as you can
Anne S — Google review
Nice clean room. Could benefit from some better double glazing or perhaps triple glazing as the traffic noise is very intrusive late and early. Helpful staff although I would have thought a quick trip to a store to replace a missing tv control should have been done. Annoying having to jump up and down to change channel.....
Eamon D — Google review
I booked a room in this guest house for my mother but when my mother arrived at this gust house after a wedding party, at about 1:00h, she could not enter because we did not have ANY code to enter and nobody gave us the keys or made the effort to contact us. When I contacted the lady of this gust house, she understood the problem, as my mother had to sleep in the car ALONE and during the whole night but she did not made any efforts to at least refund us back. When the person from Expedia tried to contact her, she said that she did not speak any english or french (which is not true) and she said also she was too busy... I will persever until I receive the refund or possible compensation for this unprofessional behaviour.

Fantastic guest house just outside the city. Easy walk into town and there are loads of restaurants and bars next to the guest house too. Sophia is an amazing host with lots of advice and knowledge of the local area. Room clean, modern with an excellent bathroom and massive bed. Happy to recommend and would return if ever in Coimbra

Room was lovely. Bed was uncomfortable but this is personal choice, and a new shower head would be helpful. There's no kettle in the room, but there is a kitchen downstairs. Tackling 4 flights of stairs, twice, to get a coffee in the morning, was inconvenient, but that's it for the negatives. The location is excellent with a fantastic view of Coimbra. The room was very clean and the house is really nice

Brilliant location, near the old city. Old style guest house recently refurbished in 2019. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. It is a guest house and while there is a kitchen on the ground floor there is only a coffee machine, a small fridge and a microwave. So no self catering. Staff are amazing - personable, knowledgeable and multi lingual. Highly recommended!

Very good accommodation on the other side of the river. The city center of Coimbra is just a short, pleasant walk away. There's free covered parking nearby. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is very attentive.

Surprisingly wonderful place to stay in Coimbra. Rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. You can park your vehicle in front of the house. Actually, I had a room on the ground floor and I parked my motorbike just below the window! They have a common room where you can have cookies, tea or coffee for free. The only drawback is that there is a metalwork place just by the house, but they don’t work on weekends and don’t make too much noise in the morning.
Frank W — Google review
Comfortable guest house with good views across the river to Coimbra. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Rias Baixas. Covered, free parking close by. Very helpful manager. Good choice if you are visiting Coimbra.
Kym M — Google review
Amazing location, with the best view from a hotel in Coimbra possible. Very beautiful rooms and fabulous staff! The only issues are that the air conditioning is quirky and doesn't work as intended, the noise insulation is bad between rooms, and I'd requested a quiet room only to find myself in the middle floor so, definitely subject to upstairs noise. There is a bit of a bad smell from the bathroom drainage but this is not unusual for old hotels. The building is truly lovely and I'd reccomend it inspite of the small issues I mentioned.
Michael M — Google review
Awesome place to stay. Close to everything and super helpful people. Couple of things to note. 1. Parking is at garage down the street and is free. Just have to walk 3 minutes. 2. There is no elevator so if you are on 3rd floor it can be a hike up and down the stairs. Which is not an issue unless you are like me and like coffee in the morning. The coffee machine is on the ground floor. 3. The air conditioning and wifi were among the best of all places have stayed. Pictures I posted were from my room.. absolutely beautiful

The space strikes a perfect balance between coziness and roominess, featuring a well-equipped kitchen complete with modern appliances like a spacious fridge and separate freezer—though one saucepan could use an upgrade! Guests will appreciate the comfortable bed and fresh towels provided during their stay.
Good location next to city center. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom has adequate space. No breakfast but plenty of places to eat nearby. Laundromat was a 7 minute walk. Lighting in the living area could be a little better. Did not watch much TV, but the one in the room was small and there was no couch to sit on. Only a couple of small chairs. View was of adjacent buildings and nothing else.

Very nice apartment hotel in the heart of Coimbra. There is public parking for around 15€ close by (with opening hours from 7-21), where if you don't have a lot of coins I would recommend getting the parking app that is displayed on the parking machine. Even though it states you can only set parking for 4 hours, if you set it to start with open end, it will run for as long as you need. The apartment was great for our needs: Big bathroom, comfy bed, okay kitchen. But the location was the absolute deal maker here!

We arrived to an extremely congested area-building signage not clear and easily confused with Sophia Studios. Parking address provided- area didn’t feel comfortable to leave our car. Decided not to have a third strike and lose our payment. Found a hotel in quiet street: Rua Alexander Herculano with complimentary parking underground 😃 they saved our experience in Coimbra!

Clean and spacious. Very stylish decoration and comfy bed. Complete kitchen with all appliances. Very modern and roomy closets. Cons: the área is noisy with traffic, there is no lift and 49 steps of a narrow steep staircase await you if you are alocated a studio on the 3rd floor. The real scam is the car park. You are told to park in the mercado car park which costs around 24€ per day, when a 2 minute Drive away parking in the street is free of charge. I would recommend the place, but first check the parking and try to get a studio on the lower floors.

A real gem in the right place - proved to be the ideal apartment for our trip to Alcobaca, Coimbra and more in the region. All the flow from booking, information, checkin (automated) was real smooth and the guidance for all needs incl parking real helpful from friendly Bruno. Apartment roomy and cosy at the same time, all appliances ready in the kitchen incl good sized fridge and separate freezer. Only the saucepan looked a bit battered. Cosy bed, towels readily changed, no complaints here.

A really wonderful apartment in a great location. Fantastic value for money! The heritage building is fantastic, super clean and really well kept. Our room (number 4) was super spacious with double height ceilings, large bathroom and plenty of room for our suitcases in the extra room off the main bedroom. We were there two nights and would definitely recommend for a stay. We parked just outside the apartment and the cost was super reasonable (although you can park around the corner for free). Only downside for us was that if someone is staying above you, you can hear a LOT because of the age of the building, even if they are just walking around.

It was quite a hike to walk here uphill from the train station (I recommend taking a taxi next time!), but without luggage the walk to the main plazas and university are much easier. Ana was very helpful getting us oriented to Coimbra and her restaurant recommendations were all fantastic. The room itself was clean and comfortable, perfect for our first stop in Portugal. We wish we had more days in Coimbra because this was a great home base to explore the city from.

Not recommended lousy place to rest leaves much to be desired, and more if you touch the rooms 1,2 or 3 (I touched the 3) which are those that are on the first floor because everyone who enters and leaves is heard, and always enter with noise can be heard when they go up and down the stairs, as if they use the kitchen, people do not have the slightest education of noise in my particular case do not let me sleep some children who had running around the house as it seemed a group of Italians (I know is a GUEST HOUSE, But they should indicate at least the minimum rules of education and coexistence when you arrive at the site) if you are thinking of resting this is not an option is better to go to a Hotel more would never return, the doors are made of wood in all rooms, ie you hear everything!, This place charges like a hotel but for the real tranquility you should not pay what they charge, typical place of nice finishes, but very bad to rest, I would never return, and I do not recommend it, on the other hand the bathroom towels were already frayed, and had a strange smell. Sad experience I had to wake up at 2 am to go to Porto to the airport and I think I'm super tired, the next a real hotel and not this. Important thing that I talked to the establishment and they told me that according to Portuguese regulations until 11:00 at night you can make noise on the premises that means that if you are going to rest before 11:00 you can not do it until that time which seems absurd to me that is why always in the invitations to stay must make everything clear because one is not going to read the rules of each country. I understand that there are people who do not like my comment but unfortunately it is my very personal appreciation of the establishment and I am a person who does not criticize an establishment unless it really has deficiencies and you can see this in my reviews. In conclusion, I can tell the establishment that they have many points to improve because that is what it is all about, improving and adapting to the demands of the customers.

Fantastic room, great views and just across the bridge from Coimbra. Close to everything but out of the touristy area and quiet at night. Great coffee machine in the room.

This place was so amazing, made even better with this apartment stay and the views that came along with it. Daniel who checked us in was super friendly, allowed us to leave our bags in the office prior to check in, and actually moved the bags into our room when it was ready! Kudos to him for doing that 👍🏻 🔑 the check in process was rather straightforward, we received the access codes to what we needed prior to our arrival. First off, the access code to the building itself (the door is right beside a gelato shop), which you do need to push the door with some slight force to open it. After which, you will need to go to the level where your suite is, and key in the access code to the rooms. Lastly, the door access code to the specific room. Quite a handful to remember so I do advise writing it down somewhere handy! The room was clean and huge in size, absolutely loved every part of it, woke up in the morning to those views of the city was just perfect - allowing me to workout with those views in sight! 💪🏻 The only reason why I marked it 4 stars instead of the full 5 was due to the fact that (1) I woke up sweating when the aircon was on 23, and it took some time to cool it back down after I moved it to 20 (2) the level of noise from the road was too much for me, as there’s bikers and drivers revving their vehicles in the middle of the night at high speeds and sound.. Otherwise, this is a solid 5 stars for the service, location and price !

We planned to stay a couple of nights in Coimbra, but unfortunately we spent only one night, due a national train strike, the Owner was very kind and helpful with us. Highly recommend not only for nice hospitality of the Staff but also for the top location and beautiful rooms.

This was a great place to explore Coimbra. Our room was great, and it was our only memory foam bed in Portugal. So comfy! We slept great and the owner was super helpful and gave us good recommendations. It’s an easy walk to explore the waterfront and there’s AMAZING gelato and croissant places on the same block. If you sleep late or need afternoon naps, you might want to wait until the construction upstairs is complete (M-F), but it did not bother us at all.

A great spot to stay in Coimbra! Just across the bridge from downtown, and frankly nice to be out of the immediate tourist area. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. It has an nespresso, great shower + water pressure, air conditioning (!), and large comfortable bed.

Very nice place to stay for a visit to Coimbra, although a bit cold in January. The room is very well furnished and small attentions enhance the experience. The service is great. The location is perfect near the bridge to have a great view over the city from the street. I would definetly recommend!

Very new and modern room. Just a short walk over the bridge to the centre. Only negative is we didn't receive the text with the code to collect the key. Fortunately the host was there to greet us and was very kind and helpful.

Pharmacia Guest House offers a fantastic experience in the heart of Coimbra. Housed in a historical building that was once a pharmacy, this guesthouse is located on a charming shopping street with plenty of pastry and coffee shops. The carefully decorated rooms feature delicate linen, with one room boasting an Azulejos balcony and a rooftop terrace available for guests to enjoy.
We were a bit skeptical about going here because it's not a traditional hotel...so glad we did. This place is great. Our room was quite large and very comfortable. The front desk staff is wonderful and definitely ask them about the history of the building...it was an operational pharmacy until five (5) years ago. As you might imagine the decor is like a pharmacy from the early 1900's. Be sure to check out the ceilings in the reception space. This is not a traditional hotel...but in many ways it was way better. The location is ideal if you want to explore the 'old town' area. We will definitely stay here again.

It’s a really charming and beautiful hotel which was a pharmacy in the old times. The room is big and the balcony in our room (room Jasmin) is so cute! And the doors have soundproofing sponges on them so you don’t need to worry that it will be noisy in the night. The location is good! You can walk to all the tourist attractions from here. *Cars are not allowed to go on this street so you need to walk a bit from the main road to here!*

This guest house is absolutely adorable. Very clean and beautiful rooms. When you first step in you feel like you’re traveling back in time. The rooms are clean and modern. Elevator access and small shared kitchen for your convenience. Centrally located in the main pedestrian walk way. I don’t think you would have a better location. Surprise rooftop sitting area for all to enjoy was a nice touch.

Room was perfect for solo traveller. Room was comfortable and everything worked well. Location was fantastic, right on the main street. It was easy to access codes for entrance and room.

Classy boutique, very clean and modern with old antiques around. We enjoyed the view from the rooftop, and our quaint garret room. Very quiet. Note that it’s attended only certain hours.

We LOVED our stay at the Pharmacia. So unique and lovely. Right in the heart of Coimbra. Thomas at the reception desk was an absolute delight and incredibly helpful. We wish we were there more than one night as the town and this guest house deserve more time. The room was quite large, elevator access, and cute attention to details. There is also a little shared kitchenette area get coffee and little snacks.
Becca K — Google review
Great location to walk about Coimbra. The reception is beautiful with the pharmacy theme. Rooms were clean, AC was great, and the rooftop/patio spaces were an extra bonus! Only downside is that you can hear everything between rooms and halls. Recommend staying for a short trip.
Julia M — Google review
Lovely guesthouse in a perfect location! The bathroom was clean and modern and the bed very comfortable with high quality linens. You will find plenty of outlets for charging and tasteful decor. Outdoor patio off the second floor is a wonderful spot to be outside, but away from the crowded streets. The ground floor has a little kitchenette where you may help yourself to tea or coffee (even decaf which is unusual), a small pastry, or a piece of fruit. It was everything I could ask for and will return again when in Coimbra! Note: sometimes there's no one at reception so check your spam mail for an email from the guesthouse containing information on the entry code and key location.

Great place to stay in Coimbra, the rooms are large and beautiful and you get breakfast ingredients in your fridge, as well as daily bread on your door. The last-floor rooms are quite cramped, though.

The suite is well provided with cereals, tea, coffee, milk, juice, yoghurts etc and fresh bread is delivered every morning. One of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed in.

Great location right by the university. Our first floor apt had a lovely balcony in the living room - kitchen area with a separate bedroom - bathroom. Casa dos Carvalhos is a quaint guest house near the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The accommodation has an outdoor swimming pool and free private parking. There is also a shared lounge and barbecue facilities available. Guests can enjoy free WiFi throughout the property.
This is a house that has separate apartment rooms on 3 floors. Everything is arranged by WhatsApp. There is a housekeeper during the day but we only saw her once to pay the extra tourist tax. There is a locked garage, a game room with ping pong, the pool and deck area over the garages. The place is immaculate and tastefully built. It looks like fairly new construction on a residential street. Pretty quiet at night. Ana Marie, the manager (?) was very responsive by text, providing all door codes and arrival information. Beds were comfy, great shower. Plenty of counter space in bathroom. Our terraced faced the city with a sunset view. Only negative is that the location is a 16-20 minute walk to the town center and university. We took Ubers which cost about 4€.

Absolutely beautiful, clean, tidy and modern guest house. Lovely rooms, great service and extras and a nice pool! Decent hike back up the hill to get home from town but a bolt would be cheap enough if you're not game.

I stayed 3 nights with my boyfriend who had to work. Excellent wifi connection, free parking in a garage which for perfect for me to explore the areas nearby by car (Aveiro, buçaco forest…) and when sunny I could relax at the pool. Coimbra city centre is about 15 minutes walking on the way down. Didn’t check about buses but I took Uber on our way back if I didn’t feel like walking.

First- they no longer have the Hästens mattress I booked a staycation because they were listed on Hästens as having their super expensive mattresses. I entered the reception area which is beautiful, but confusing as it is tiny and just a pass through space. I checked in and after check in was told they no longer have the mattresses. I was disappointed and thrown off guard enough that I didn't question anything. I went to my room which was decorated in a grand way, but the execution and upkeep was all wrong. The toilet is Armani for some reason but it makes a beeping noise when you flush, luckily not a problem as a solo traveler but would be super annoying if sharing the room. The lighting system is all symbols that make no sense. The only piece of furniture in the room was a chair with an attached desk that was broken and dangling. There was a big red stain on the carpet. The beautiful stone books in the shower make for a nice setting, but are clearly difficult to clean as I found hairs lodged between the books. I don't even want to think about how direct the crevices between books are in the toilet stall. The only communal space is on the 5th floor and rooftop, which was pretty again. The service was bizarre and the food offerings were fine, nothing special. There is no bar. The location is central, but be aware it was loud all day and night, with accordion buskers playing nearly all hours of daylight and students congregating in the praça late into the evening. 2.5 rounded down

What a unique hotel for book lovers! Loved the room. HOWEVER: It is service staff that go above and beyond! The day I was trying to leave to get to the train station, there was a bus strike, which affected the taxis - no taxis could be found!! I tried Uber (forget about Bolt! drivers cancel after confirming pickups!! this wastes time) and 2 canceled on me after the had confirmed - the 3rd was the charm! But as time was ticking by - 45 minutes, one of the concierge attendants volunteered to drive me! Volunteered to drive me. Wow. Thank you CBR for hiring caring and thoughtful employees!

This hotel is in perfect location for Coimbra! Right on the town door step. Very convenient. The facility is very high tech and modern. The bathroom is surrounded by glass. The TV is behind a mirror?? Breakfast is very good with lots of choice to choose from. The hotel is perfect, there is nothing to complaint about. Very clean! Highly recommended for a short stay in Coimbra. Parking is tricky, given the location but there is a public car park nearby with charged about €5 per day.

No elevator, narrow steep stairs. Cute rooms, surprisingly large refrigerator and a dishwasher. Kitchen stocked better than other places we've stayed. Bed seems comfortable, good linens. Not sure yet about location.

My stay at Sophie Studios was fantastic. Ricardo and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Ricardo recommended some of the best places to eat and see the city. I had the king studio with a nice view on the 2nd floor. The studio was very clean and spacious, with a nice size bathroom with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. And comfortable bed with plenty of pillows supplied. While I didn't use it, the kitchen was equipped with both a two burner stove and a dishwasher. Plus all equipped with cooking pots, dishes, and plenty of mugs and glasses for drinking. The TV only had 5 channels, but honestly, you'll spend all your time on the city, so that wasn't a big deal at all. The place is perfectly located so that you can explore easily but it's still quiet at night. I would highly recommend staying here and will be on my future trips to Coimbra.

I left behind a EURO100 jacket at the property but the host unhelpfully refused to send this back to me. To add more details to support my review: The reason why I said the host refused to help (and he did not actually help out in the end) was: (1) he was very responsive during my stay( which I appreciate that). But when it comes to the lost jacket, the reply was super slow or no reply until I wrote my comment here. (2) once the lost jacket was confirmed to be left behind at the property, I asked him for the payment details and told him just sending back the jacket to me the postage price was lower than euro 20 ( the reason why I would ask that was trying to save his time so that he does not need to go back and forth to the post office for checking the price and sending the jacket to me) (3) after a few days of chasing about the status he came back to me saying the cost would be Euro 13 and asked me if I still want this to be sent out. (4) I was surprised to see him asking me again if I still want this to be sent out because I already told him if the price is lower than 20 then just send it. (5) anyway I gave him a go ahead and asked him for the payment details again (6) after that, I have sent two more chasers, and there were no replies any more, until I wrote this review here and he said he was willing to help here ( although the thing he told me in a private message was different) :) The reason why I think he was not willing to help was that he didn’t reply my message about payment details. And no one would explicitly tell his customer he was not going to help unless he was stupid ( well the host was obviously not stupid) :) Btw he said “ your score of 1 [is] totally unacceptable… you would like to take out that review? … we are waiting for your decision” I don’t know what is the decision he asked me to make because it was very obvious I wanted my jacket back. So my interpretation of the decision he asked to me to make is to either keep the review, or the jacket :) I have decided to keep the review because I don’t like being threatened :) A smart customer will know who is playing the trick, and would choose to avoid the same situation if they possibly can :) Also, yes you won’t keep thing that are not yours but there is possibility that you can throw it away :)

(Translated by Google) BE CAREFUL! I gave it 1 star because I couldn't give it any less and I wanted to write a review to help other people. It's not a hotel, it's a small, old house with a rough renovation, on a steep street, with no access to cars, and with stairs. The house has no reception or staff. We are left to our own devices. There is no elevator, there is a wooden staircase, steep and narrow. The feeling is of a total lack of security (if there is a fire, I don't know how you'll get out of there). The rooms are very simple, there is general detergent, no shampoo, or any other product. You need a code for the front door and the room has a key in the door. In short, I couldn't stay there and had to look for another hotel. The price was exorbitant. Any hostel is safer, for 1/5 of the price! I paid a little more for a 4-star hotel in Coimbra! Please look at the photos before booking. (Original) CUIDADO! Pus 1 estrela por não poder por menos e querer escrever uma review para ajudar outras pessoas. Very expensive for the few facilities it has, not to be repeated. We got an allergy attack, we don't know why, maybe it was dust, and we left without sleeping there because we lost the desire. We won't be back. No one has apologized for anything yet. LAA Studios offers a peaceful and serene location, with a nearby park for leisurely strolls. Guests find it convenient to secure parking spots. The studio apartments are impeccably clean and well-equipped, including the kitchen. The outdoor area exudes a cozy ambiance, perfect for relaxation. While some experienced intermittent WiFi connectivity in certain areas of the room, overall feedback is positive about this lovely and tranquil place that provides all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
Super easy check in, clean rooms with kitchenettes, walkable location. My first room was loud but they quickly switched me to another with a beautiful (and quiet) view of the park.
Fiorella C — Google review
We stayed at LAA Studios for a night and I can say it has been a great experience. The location is very quiet and there is a park nearby where we had a little walk. Finding a parking spot for our car was also pretty easy around the accommodation. The studio apartment we stayed in was very neat and clean. The kitchen has everything you need and is fully equipped. The area outside is also very cozy. We really loved this stay. We only experienced the WiFi to be a little bit spotty in certain areas of our room. We never met the host because you will be able to do a self check-in but the communication we had with the host was super efficient and you will be given all the information you need. Great place to stay and recommended 💯%

(Translated by Google) We had room 33 upstairs in the attic. The room is more of an apartment. The kitchenette with table is separated from the sleeping area by a hallway. The bed was very large and comfortable. The bathroom is also great. Overall, the entire furnishings of the apartment are coordinated and the skylights are a nice highlight. Of course you heard the concert from the bar next door at the weekend (great band by the way!) but that's just the nature of the situation. The apartment is located right on Praca Republica where there is always something going on, so it is very central. We didn't notice anything from the other apartments ;) Many cafes and restaurants are around the corner and the botanical garden and the university are within walking distance. The staff was friendly and it was cleaned daily. There was a booklet in the room with emergency numbers etc. So an absolute recommendation! Also absolute Empfehlung!

Charme 19 Bed & Breakfast Coimbra is a charming accommodation located in the heart of Coimbra, just a short distance from Ponte Pedro e Ines and Almedina Tower. Despite being more like individual apartments than a traditional hotel, guests have praised the spacious and well-equipped rooms. The central location means it's not accessible by car, but there are parking garages nearby.
Charme 19 is by far the best place we stayed at in Portugal (and personally I haven’t seen such a good service in a very long time!). The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The street is also very calm. The staff is attentive, kind and did everything in their power to accommodate us, thank you very much for that! The breakfast is also amazing, the products are fresh and well selected. We absolutely loved our stay and totally recommend if you’re staying in Coimbra. The b&b is in a traditional building of the historical centre. There is no lift, but you cannot reasonably expect one in the middle of an old town so I find the negative reviews absolutely unfair (there are “modern” hotels in the newer part of town).
Maria F — Google review
Nice place in the heart of Coimbra. I don’t understand the bad ratings. They mainly talk about the fact that it isn’t an actual hotel and more individual apartments. So as long as you don’t require any help getting your luggage up the stairs, you’ll have a wonderful stay. Rooms are great! Breakfast was very good. The fact, that it is in the middle of the city comes with not being able to access with the car. But again, no surprise as it is known and there are good parking garages 5 mins walk away.
Andreas D — Google review
Biggest SCAM in Coimbra !!!! 1. Can’t unload luggage because no car access 2. No one to help to bring luggage to room (our room is #6, on top floor) if you arrive in the evening 3. No air conditioning. When we came inside the room, it was hot like oven (this is June 2023) 4. Water system is too old, if there is another person having shower in the same building, your room will have no water for bath and tap water during that time 5. No cabinet to put your clothes We paid via booking dot com for 3 nights, we only stayed 1 night because it’s so bad. They will not refund the other 2 nights. This place is listed as 3 stars but it’s standard is just 1 star. Think twice then check everything before you book this place. We believe they paid booking dot com commission so their property appears on top of the search.
Dzung V — Google review
I think all of the 5* reviews are either fake or by people who don't travel much. Great location if you are looking for a 'hostel' alternative. Otherwise TERRIBLE in every other way. I second everything noted in one of the other 1* reviews - inconvenient, non-existent service for a hotel, rude customer line, loud (drunkards were shouting in the middle of the night and it felt they were in the room), stuffy (no air con). Photos look much better vs. real life (power of marketing). We had booked through Citi and couldn't get refund. Still we cut our visit to only one night and switched to Quintas das Lagrimas (btw it was only $100 more and FAAAAAR cry from this spot).

The Deluxe Studio with Terrace and Private Balcony at 'Casinha da Amoreira' Guesthouse in Coimbra offers a comfortable stay just 100 km from Aerodromo Municipal Goncalves Lobato airport. The hosts are attentive and accommodating, providing a well-furnished and clean studio for a pleasant experience. Guests appreciate the rich breakfast, easy parking, and the convenience of self check-in. The peaceful area allows for enjoyable evening walks with an indescribable sunset view.
This is the best place in Coimbra if you want to have a beautiful view of the city. I loved the cozy and familiar atmosphere that the hosts provide. The room is big than it seems in the pictures and has everything you need. The entrance and bathroom are private so it’s like staying at your own place. I was lucky enough to being invited by the host for lunch as I was alone and had a very nice Portuguese meal, better than those in restaurants I must say. It’s nice that there is a parking space so if travelling with family is very convenient. The area is super nice and calm. Perfect to relax while visiting a new city. Highly recommend this accommodation. Thank you Ana, Anabela and Carlos. You made my stay in Coimbra amazing!

Stayed for two nights in “Casinha da Amoreira” and it was an overall lovely experience. The hosts are extremely concerned with your well-being and always available to help. The studio is well furnished and clean… Breakfast was also rich. Easy parking. Self check-in is also a big plus, since I arrived fairly late but had no problems with settling in. Calm area to enjoy nice walks at the end of the day (the sunset view is indescribable). Close to the city of Coimbra. Highly reccomend this place!

(Translated by Google) A beautiful room with corridor and private bathroom. You feel at home. Lots of little attentions from the welcome liqueur to the dinner reservation for the night. All really very pleasant. The only negative thing for those who want to visit Coimbra is the distance; without a car it is almost impossible to get there because the buses don't run and it's 15 minutes by car (walking is out of the question). (Translated by Google) We arrived on September 8th, the day of the feast of the mistress of the city with a very characteristic procession. The owner's parents welcomed us with a wonderful smile that can only be seen in people with a happy soul.. The house has everything you need... I felt at home so much so that the plan was for one night which turned into two. From the veranda I was able to admire a beautiful sunset.. The people of the town are the best part..welcoming and kind.. We were invited to the town festival and to eat together with citizens who were very sorry but we don't eat anything made from animal derivatives.. Ah, maybe this is a suggestion... in the house there is everything for breakfast, perhaps introducing a vegetable drink such as oats or soy... Thanks for everything.. La gente del paese la parte migliore..accogliente e gentile.. Siamo stati invitati alla festa del paese e a mangiare insieme a cittadini che ci è dispiaciuto molto ma non mangiamo nulla di derivati animali..
