The Arctic Light Hotel in Rovaniemi offers a cozy and nature-themed stay with Christmas-inspired cabins. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport and within walking distance of popular attractions. Guests can enjoy various amenities such as a sauna, fitness center, and bicycles for rent. The on-site Arctic Restaurant features a bar/lounge, offering delicious dining options.
A truly fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of Rovaniemi. The staff was incredibly friendly and the rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had, full of delicious local treats. I will definitely be back.
Hanna-Kaisa — Google review
Loved our stay here, staff were so welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean, spacious, and beautiful but the best part was the mini sauna attached to the bathroom. Can’t forget about food, there were so many options at breakfast and the quality was amazing. Would highly recommend the Arctic Lights Hotel for your trip to Rovaniemi.
Briar O — Google review
I had an amazing stay at the Arctic Light Hotel while exploring Rovaniemi and joining excursions to hunt for the Northern Lights. The room was big, spacious, and very comfortable, a perfect place to relax after a day of adventures. Breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious choices every morning. A special mention to Gabriela, Melissa, and Suvi for their outstanding customer service. They were warm, helpful, and went out of their way to make my stay memorable , truly a reflection of Finnish hospitality at its best. The hotel’s location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, close to shops, restaurants, and pick-up points for Northern Lights tours. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Rovaniemi. Highly recommended!

Very lovely hotel! Doesnt look as luxury from the outside, but it is from the inside. Lovely staff, comfy beds, delicious breakfast and lovely food in the restaurant served from the afternoon. Special mention for Waldemar, Polish waiter, Who is amazing and professional. I totally recommend this place!

I’m glad we chose this hotel in the center of Rovaniemi. We are frequent travelers from Taiwan. Though the decorative interior might be a bit concerning for Asian people who’re not culturally used to this kind of interior, but we’re stunned by the good quality of amenities and the cleanness level of the room. Each room can reserve 30 mins sauna at reception which was a pretty nice space too! Especially after the gym experience. (Gym is 24/7, small but enough) This is a recommendable hotel that I stayed comfortably and happily. Special thanks to Mark who guided us through the stay with smiles and nice hospitality spirit. Btw, breakfast and dinner we had were pretty nice too!

Great location, great facility , great staff! We stayed for two nights in Arctic Light Hotel.Location is perfect right in the city centre. There is roof window that you can watch the sky during the night lying on your bed. All staff is very helpful, we were welcome when we first arrived.Special thanks to Gabriella for the suggestions to go sightseeing and finding safaris Greetings from Dilara&Cagri

I can't write highly enough about this hotel. It was absolutely luxurious. We had a polar street room and my daughter booked an attic room but was upgraded to a room with a sauna. Both rooms and the staff were phenomenal. Perfection.

The hotel is great and the rooms are very nice and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful in every way they can. The sauna is also very nice and free for guests.

Arctic City Hotel is a cozy property located in the heart of Rovaniemi, offering comfortable accommodations and a range of amenities. The hotel provides free breakfast and features a restaurant, MonteRosa, serving delicious meals. Guests can enjoy the evening sauna or opt for a private sauna in the Junior Suites. The hotel's central location allows easy access to attractions such as Lordi's Square and Rovaniemi Art Museum.
I had a fantastic stay at the Arctic City Hotel, a charming boutique property. The breakfast was excellent, offering a great variety to start the day. The on-site restaurant served amazing food, and the downstairs bar was outstanding, with a vibrant atmosphere and top-notch drinks. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, making the experience even better. I will definitely stay again!
R H — Google review
Good breakfast. The only thing that the place can improve is the mirrors. We had the classic double room and the main mirror had an odd design that you can see blots all over you. Then the bathroom mirror and the other mirror in the room are really bad quality that you can’t see yourself properly. Hopefully they will replace these. Other than that, our stay was nice and the workers were lovely.
Jenn — Google review
The hotel is in an excellent location, very convenient for sightseeing and shopping. The facilities and dining provided by the hotel are very good. Although I only stayed for one night, I was still impressed, especially seeing the northern lights at night .
Xiao W — Google review
Very nice hotel, great breakfast buffet. Only downside was the double beds are 2 single beds pushed together. Overall very clean and good service there
Walter C — Google review
Nice hotel rooms are good! Really central position in the town! Shops, restaurants, cafes, and other services nearby

Good breakfast, ok rooms, good for pets (dogs). It would be nice to get service in Finnish in Finland.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Arctic City Hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, the experience was flawless, thanks to the amazing team and the hotel’s thoughtful touches. A massive thank you to Gabriela, who went above and beyond to make our stay truly special, and to Nicky, who was equally fantastic. Gabriela’s efforts in organizing a private sauna session were a highlight of our trip—an unforgettable touch that made our celebration even more memorable. The hotel itself is simply perfect. From the hearty and delicious burgers served in the pub downstairs to the exquisite meals in the main restaurant, every dining experience was outstanding. My personal favorite, however, was the breakfast—the porridge and bacon were absolutely to die for! The location couldn’t be better. Situated right in the heart of Rovaniemi, the Arctic City Hotel provides the perfect base for exploring the city while offering a cozy retreat to return to after a day of adventure. This hotel has now officially become my favorite place to stay in Rovaniemi, and we’re already looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you again to Gabriela, Nicky, and the entire team for making our stay so unforgettable! Highly recommended.

Overall we had a great experience with the hotel. The staff were friendly, efficient, helpful. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our three day trip. They have everything!! The restaurant is also had a very warm and calming presence (what other hotels have candles on display during breakfast?). The room was nothing too spectacular, the decorations were nice but the size was a bit on the smaller side. Overall, you get a great location (right in the city centre and close to all the buses), great hot breakfast that will fill you up for the day, and a lovely staff. Oh, and they got this free water jar in the lobby infused with fruits, divine!

Nestled in Rovaniemi, the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel offers chic accommodations and a creative atmosphere. The hotel features the Rakas restaurant and bar, where guests can savor local flavors under pine-cone lamps. Unique experiences at the hotel include wool sock walks, providing a gentle form of barefoot walking to activate foot muscles and improve blood circulation. The cocoon-like accommodations are set in stilted suites on a gently sloping hill with stunning views over the treetops.
Very lovely and luxurious rooms. it’s very near to both the airport and Santa Claus village. Santa park is just right beside! The hotel staff here are all very friendly and professional. Thanks to the hotel team for the hospitality for me and my wife during our anniversary. The view at night is beautiful and they have valet service all day to transfer you from your room to the reception or Santa park!
Jevhuehue — Google review
First of all the rooms are really tiny and there are many options in Rovianiemi which are better properties bigger rooms and better rates. Recently had a very bad experience with the property of Arctic tree house. We booked it four months in advance at double the rate. Suddenly when we check in we saw that the price is half of what we had paid. We asked for an upgrade for the experience we had but the management and staff were not at all helpful even though the Executive room was available at the price we paid they were not ready to help. I took this up with the property and they were not able to help with my problem. We earlier had asked for a Price match but we even gave them an option of a room upgrade….The room that we were looking for was priced the same as the room we had paid for. Concluding here please don’t be fooled with the names like suite which is actually 1 tiny room. Hoping no other guest have to face this issue like us. Please be careful before booking with Arctic tree house hotels at Lapland.
Estelle M — Google review
The hotel rooms are beautiful and unique. The Rakas restaurant was excellent. We were surprised, however, that the location is very close to the Santa Claus park, which was not a plus for us. If you are looking for wilderness, this is not it! Also, we were disappointed that the sauna required 3+ hours notice and hefty fee for use. We still had fun, but a few things were disappointing.
Julie G — Google review
We stayed in Arctic tree house hotel for 3 days. We found the experience underwhelming. For the price you pay, only breakfast is included. And for all the 3 days we stayed, breakfast was the same everyday. It was kinda surprising and disappointing for the amount we pay. Nothing is included in the price like a gym or a sauna. We expected hotel staff to give us some recommendations but didn’t get any. Just a pdf with expensive activities list. View was great but the rooms were tiny and hot water was limited. We stayed in an Airbnb next few days with an extremely cheap price but they had everything including an in house sauna. So you get the gist. Staff were courteous and polite.
Krithika L — Google review
I loved everything about this hotel. The staff were very kind, pleasant and helpful, the rooms are great and the food was delicious. I highly recommend booking this hotel when you’re in Rovaniemi
Moza S — Google review
This hotel is honestly a tourist trap. Please don’t confuse expensive with luxury. This is far from a luxury property; it is only unduly expensive. The staff at reception are poorly trained in both their own policies and general customer service. When booking through Hyatt, the number of people allowed per booking is fixed at 1. If you try to book for more people, it will not allow you. It also does not allow you to modify to add more people. Why? Because then this hotel tries to charge you €75 extra per night per person for any people staying in addition to the 1 person. Even if you book a 2-bedroom house with a listed occupancy of 6, you will need to spend €75 extra per person for the additional 5 people. The service is not professional nor personalized. Again, this is not a luxury property. Management here should be sent to the Storfjord Hotel, also a Mr. & Mrs. Smith property in Norway, if they want to learn how to provide a luxury, personalized experience. The glasshouse is directly facing trees, blocking any possible view of the sky. Also, the artificial light pollution from the city nearby is strong. And the chairs in the deck are so uncomfortable, they would be better used for firewood. This hotel is not remote or in the woods like the pictures show. It is not a nature experience. You are right off a major highway and all you hear is cars and trucks. Not a peaceful experience. The only saving grace is the restaurant which has wonderful staff and food. I wouldn’t stay here again if someone paid me to.
Evan M — Google review
We had an amazing stay at Arctic TreeHouse. The People working there are VERY attentive and we felt really home there. The food in the restaurant is AMAZING and the rooms are very comfortable. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
Nitschke A — Google review
We booked with arctic tree hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and to see the Northern Lights. Staff, every single one, went beyond and above to make us comfortable. They are a joyful and organized staff. The hotel itself is unique, spotless, and very well situated for viewing Northern Lights and visiting Santa’s village and the town of Rovaniemi. The restaurant is exquisite! The breakfast buffet boasts Lapland favourites and the dinner menu is exquisite!!! If we didn’t live so far away in Canada, we would visit again and again!!!!

Located in the heart of Rovaniemi, Scandic Rovaniemi City is a modern hotel offering a comfortable and convenient stay for travelers. The hotel features amenities such as a gym, sauna, and an on-site restaurant serving local cuisine. With its central location, guests have easy access to attractions like SantaPark and Santa Claus Village. The rooms are designed with a Scandinavian touch, featuring wooden floors and cozy seating areas.
I really like visiting these exciting places in northern part of Finland and Rovaniemi is my favorite. This hotel really adds a flavour to your visit to Finnish Lapland. The breakfast is a culinary experience to the local traditions and an opportunity to a healthy start. Thank you! Sauna is a must too. Rooms are freshly renovated and bathrooms too. Great place to stay!

A great hotel in the heart of Rovaniemi, very close to everything. There are shops, bars, bus stations, restaurants at minutes distance. The rooms are nice, the staff is friendly, and my room, the suite with sky view was very cool, but in the summer you'll have the light 24/24h. I recommend this one!
Stefan G — Google review
Great location in city. Clean rooms. Very good and complete breakfast in the morning with standard fare plus some Lapland foods to welcome you north of the arctic circle. Sauna open from 5:30-9:30 - men’s and women’s sauna are separate and each has a changing room
David W — Google review
This is a typical branch of the Scandic Hotel chain. The rooms are clean and functional. In my experience, the staff were professional and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast spread offered a good choice of options. The special "tastes of Lapland" section was a nice touch.
E K — Google review
This is a late review—I’m catching up on my 2025 trips—but we had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Scandic. Breakfast: The breakfast was good, with a nice variety of options to suit different tastes. Staff & Service: Special mention goes to Riku, a young trainee who checked us in and out. He was polite, professional, and showed exactly the right mindset for a future in the hospitality industry. The gentleman from the cleaning staff was also very courteous and friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. Room: We didn’t have a room with a view, but it didn’t matter much to us since we spent little time inside. Given that daylight is limited during this season, the view wasn’t really a priority. Location: The hotel is in a convenient spot—there’s a department store and supermarket right across the street, and the bus stop to Santa Claus Village is also just across the street (fares are €4 for adults and €1 for children). Several restaurants are nearby, and we especially recommend Nili for its delicious traditional food. Overall: A comfortable and convenient stay with friendly staff who made us feel welcome.
F S — Google review
It was nice hotel, very conveniently located at center of town. Can really aceses restaurants and winter activities easily on steps. We paid 580 euros for 2 days inclusive breakfast, at such a price I really wonder hotel not providing hot kettle in room although other amenities like minibar, iron was there. Providing hot water kettle in room is a basic aminitiy
Dr K — Google review
Some rooms are facing inwards with no view but the restaurant. Ask for rooms facing outside when check-in at the front desk. Service is generally acceptable, late check-out must pay extra cost. Close to shopping mall and supermarket. Bus stop to Santa Claus Village is just opposite the hotel.
Edward T — Google review
Older building with a bit messy layout. Slow elevators and a lot of acoustics in the eating area. Smallest pillows I have ever seen in a hotel. Ok breakfast and good location. Service was correct but unfriendly. Large parking lot outside

Lapland Hotels Ounasvaara Chalets is a modern getaway in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland and home of Santa Claus. The apartments are perfect for a Christmas trip, offering kitchens, terraces, and saunas. Situated near the Kemijoki river and the Ounasvaara Ski Centre, it's an ideal location for skiing or exploring the city. The property features a spa, hot tub, lounge bar, and four restaurants.
I did not book a room here but my friends and I asked whether we could store our luggage for one day because most of us wanted to go skiing for our last day. The receptionist was super friendly and let us store everything. I sat down in the lobby for the day to work and read and was served cappuccino and chocolates on the house by the kind receptionist. I felt very welcome despite not even having booked a room. If I ever come back to visit Rovaniemi again, I would definitely check in here :) Great service and hospitality!
Vanessa — Google review
The rooms are very small, with the beds taking up almost all the space. There is no sound insulation at all between the rooms. We could clearly hear conversations, TV, and other noises from the neighboring room, which made it very difficult to sleep and relax. There is also no smell insulation. The strong smell of food from the next room filled our entire space, making it very uncomfortable. The odor was so intense that it lingered for hours. Parking is convenient, but sometimes non-guests park in front of the house, which can be inconvenient. There are no bathrobes. The bathrooms and kitchen are outdated and in need of renovation. The sauna is very basic and does not feel modern or well-designed. There are no blackout curtains, only blinds, which do not block the light properly, making the room too bright in the morning.
Bora K — Google review
We stayed here just before Christmas, Location was good to local attractions via taxis. Local shop was a bit of a trek in the snow with young kids. But what I really wanted to review was the service received from everyone on the front desk, very pleasant, polite and helpful. My daughter (age 6) wanted to learn some of the Finnish lingo and a very kind lady on the reception took the time to sit down with my daughter and read Finnish with her. (If you do see this she loves the book you gave her).
David C — Google review
Pros We had an amazing stay here. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Being vegetarians, the meal choices we had were abundant. Cons 1. No handjet in toilets. So people not used to tissue cleaning please carry your own portable handjet. 2. Only single toilet bathroom available. The ones sleeping above will have to climb all the way down to answer nature’s call.
Priya S — Google review
The chalet was comfortable with heated floors in the kitchen and bathroom and a private sauna. Our 4 person chalet had two beds in a loft, and two beds on the main floor. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were small. The kitchen had a microwave, small refrigerator, and stove top. The location is a bit far from city center but we were able to utilize the bus stop that was about a 10 min walk or UBER.
Amber S — Google review
We had the most magical holiday here! Our chalet was warm & cosy, location perfect and the breakfast was delicious! We realised my daughter had left her very special teddy behind and when I emailed to see if it had been found, we received it with a beautiful letter in the post a few days later. A hotel and staff who go above and beyond. Wonderful, thank you ☺️
Stacey T — Google review
We enjoyed our brief stay. Very nice room with heated floors in the bathroom. Twin beds were disappointing, however. The sauna closes way too early (2100) - should stay open to 2200 or 2230.
Steve P — Google review
Great for families. We had bunk beds in ours. Sleeps 6 but very tight. Very clean rooms. Rentable snow equipment. Full free breakfast - excellent coffee. But go early tho at 7:30-8 am. Gets super crowded on weekends at 9 am.

Guests can enjoy various amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, gift shops, tour assistance, and the option to rent bicycles for exploring the area. Additionally, there are dining options available within the village including restaurants and a cafe called Christmas House.
This was a dream come true. An amazing village with the best little cottages to stay in. The cottages were warm and cozy. Staff were all helpful and the area offered so much to do. Including seeing Santa!! And who didn’t love a sauna in your room?
Lisa C — Google review
Went to Lapland on a summer and since the glass igloos are not in season, this wonderful cottage was a very good option in the heart of Santa Claus Village. Loved the sauna inside the cabin. Truly enjoyed our stay. Plus, Aurora decided to show off her wonder that summer night.
Milanie T — Google review
We had a fun-filled 2 nights staying at the Santa Village, especially greeted by the first snow! Lots of food options inside and around the village. The Santa Claus’ Post Office and reindeer rides were the key highlights. Private Finnish sauna was a pleasant surprise and very much appreciated! SCV truly Magical even for the adults!
D L — Google review
It was magical even in October. Only thing what were missing was snow. Santa, elf's and atmosphere in Santa office was great too. There was almost no queue. We're waiting just few minutes. My son was looking forward to seeing reel Santa and he wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend.
Jaroslav G — Google review
Mr. Ryan at the hotels tour reception desk was extremely helpful and kind. He explained all the activities available and good spots to check out around the area. He made our stay experience better and appreciated his hospitality.
Narumi — Google review
We stayed in an iconic red cottage at Santa Claus Holiday Village for two nights. The check-in experience was positive—friendly staff and early access to our room. The iconic red cabins with flower boxes were charming, and the cottage included a private sauna, a basic kitchenette, and a decent breakfast spread. Unfortunately, the comfort ended there. The room was unbearably hot—28°C the first night and 31°C the second—with only a small fan that didn’t help. The window mesh was torn, letting bugs in, and we didn’t feel safe leaving it open overnight. Worst of all, there were no blackout curtains—just thin white blinds—which is unacceptable in a region with near-constant daylight during the summer. We left exhausted and disappointed. Sadly, we can not recommend staying here.
Karen G — Google review
We arrived in June, part of its low season, so we were very happy to have a cottage upgrade and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although commercialized, we did enjoy the museums in the area and the roaming reindeer, as well as the midnight sun (when it didn't rain).
A. V — Google review
I booked this place in a fit of whimsy, somehow managing not to realize that this is very much a marketed-to-families experience. So, I would highly recommend it to families; definitely seems like it would be a lot of fun for young ones. Even as a single adult woman I had an enjoyable experience - most of the things to do around here if you don’t have children are souvenir shops, but they were interesting to look through, and I enjoyed feeding the reindeer. There are woods outside the town which I had fun hiking through, and you can see the tracks where the dogsledders go through. The room was fantastic and had its own private sauna, which was a wonderful experience and stress reliever after the place I had been immediately before this, and the staff was very helpful and kind. They had interesting candies in the souvenir shops, which kick started my salmiakki addiction. Overall, I would say it’s a nice place.

The staff were very friendly. Check-in was quick and easy. We loved the breakfast in the restaurant with a wide variety of options. The Ice Bar was very creative. The short walk to the lake offered a beautiful fog over the lake and swans nearby. It was a neat experience to sleep in the igloo. We didn't see the Northern Lights because it was cloudy, but it was cool to lay in the bed and look up at the clouds passing over.

seamless service, wonderful stay - breakfast is so delicious!! they have buffet, so we could try various Finnish dishes. there was a lot of options and the quality of good was great. - perfect igloo with all things you need The igloo had 360 degree glass roof so we could see aurora and stars while lying down on a bed. I really liked the motorized bed!!! Even during daytime, we could enjoy our time while sitting on the bed like a couch. And the room was spacious enough to open two big luggages. There was a fridge, a toilet, a shower room, as well as a small desk and a chair. So you don't need to give up anything for choosing an igloo type accommodation. -friendly staffs: they had good service mind and always greeted us with genuine smile. -many extras: we could use airport transfer and we had a lot of options for activities. Also, there was an aurora alarm that rings during nigh time, so it was so convenient. I want to recommend this lovely hotel for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!!
J K — Google review
We stayed one night in the glass igloo during autumn, so the SnowHotel was still under construction and, according to one of the staffs, set to reopen in early December. Even so, the experience was lovely and memorable. The igloo was cozy and warm, though a bit tight for three people. At night, we didn’t get to see the northern lights or stars, but the view of the moon and quiet Arctic sky was peaceful in its own way. The pop-up ice bar was a fun surprise — I had a lingonberry gin there and it was fantastic! The shared sauna beside the restaurant was also a great way to relax before bed. Although we had to leave early for Tromsø and missed breakfast, the reception staff thoughtfully prepared a packed meal for us. The weather wasn’t ideal, but that’s part of the Arctic charm. Overall, it was a unique experience and the staff made it even better. I’d still give them 5 stars! 🌙
Kevin K — Google review
It was our first visit and their service was really good.Friendly, clean, quiet, dark enough to see beautiful aurora! I would give them more than five if there were more than five stars! Also i recommend privacy sauna and jacuzzi!!!

The Good: The glass igloos are well designed. Nice public sauna. Nice facilities. I recommend the free Snow Hotel Tour - quite interesting. The Bad: I highly recommend you skip the €69 dinner - just simply not worth it. It is good, and convenient, but not €69 good - had similar meals for under €20. Also didn't like all the restrictive timing on facilities like sauna and Sky Bar, but it was slower season October.
Don W — Google review
We had a wonderful stay at the Arctic Snow Hotel & Glass Igloos in October. The reception and staff were friendly, approachable, and even allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated. The glass igloos were beautiful — cozy, warm, and the adjustable reclining beds made it extra comfortable. The property itself is gorgeous, with a serene lake and sauna options that make it a perfect spot to relax and catch the sunset. A small tip for future guests: the shower offers around 50 minutes of hot water with a 3–4 hour refill cycle, so plan ahead if you enjoy long showers. Breakfast was tasty, but it’s best to arrive early — food options aren’t refilled once they run out, even though guests still arrive within breakfast hours (we came about an hour before closing). The aurora alarm worked perfectly — it went off just about a minute after our aurora app alerted us! We were lucky with clear skies and got to watch the northern lights dance above us for over two hours — truly unforgettable. Since we had an early checkout and reception only opens at 8 a.m., the team kindly prepared a breakfast bag for us with yogurt, sandwiches, and oranges to collect the night before — a thoughtful touch. Lunch and dinner are at an additional cost (€15–70 per person). We tried the salmon glow-fried over an open fire — delicious! The sautéed reindeer was a bit chewy for our taste. Taxis to and from the area take about 20–30 minutes to arrive and cost roughly €40–70 each way, though the hotel can help arrange transportation. Overall, it was a fantastic experience — a great place to unwind, enjoy nature, and witness the aurora in comfort. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lapland!
Gladis N — Google review
Oh this was definitely on my bucket list !!! The Northern Lights Alarm was so cool and would buzz if the northern lights were present while you slept. This is optional but never missed a view ! You may lose sleep on the nights you spend here but only need one night here. I recommend booking an actual Northern Lights Tour in Rovaniemi or Santa Claus Village.

Nestled between two wilderness lakes and surrounded by stunning Arctic nature, Apukka Resort is a unique destination just a short drive from Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village. The resort offers an array of activities including traditional saunas, dogsledding, snowmobiling, and more in the winter. Accommodation options range from cozy Aurora Cabins to spacious villas with private saunas.
Apukka Resort exceeded all expectations. We stayed in the Cabin King Suite, which was brand new, beautifully designed, and offered striking views of the lake—absolutely stunning. The staff was tremendous—warm, professional, and always willing to help. Every guide we met during activities was outstanding and clearly passionate about what they do. The Reindeer Walk was a one-of-a-kind experience, and the Aurora Hunt on Wheels expedition was unforgettable—we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, and the guides made it even more special with their knowledge and enthusiasm. This is a place that perfectly blends comfort, nature, and adventure. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!

5 stars for everything! This place is the very best of the best that Lapland has to offer. Located in Rovaniemi so perfect to meet Santa Claus as well. Apukka Resort is the most unique, warm and luxurious resort you can imagine. Amazing igloo accommodation and perfect lakeside location. Every thinkable activity they offer on site. The best of Apukka is the people who work there. Very welcoming and professional, every single one of them is there to make your stay the best ever.

I didn’t stay at the resort, but I did the Arctic Sunset Boat Tour and it was amazing! We cruised along the rivers and watched the sun dip behind the mountains. Then we stopped for crepes and a hot chocolate around the fire that our guide built and lit on the spot! Our guide Joni was so great! He shared so much about the area and parts of the Finnish life. On our way back to the resort, he was sharing information about the constellations and northern lights. This was such a peaceful and beautiful experience
Tiernay S — Google review
Perfect autumn holiday in the Lapland. Apukka has its own charm between a modern and rustic vibe. The resort is self sufficient in providing husky/reindeer related experience within the facility. It also offers Finnish Sauna and a little Lappish hike. Breakfast was amazing and service was consistently warm and welcoming among all staff (from the reception, to the restaurant and the driver). The local vegetables and desserts especially the cloudberries cocktails and ice cream are worth trying! Special shout out to Siru, our host for the Husky Farm experience. She shared her insights about the farm and the animals so passionately. We were enriched by the hour spent with her and the huskies.
D L — Google review
Our Aurora Cabin was very cozy and there are lovely details: the little “fireplace”, blankets, a carafe so you can drink the tab water etc! But the best part ist the glass: We were lucky and saw the aurora from our bed!!! We also loved the alert specifically for the resort! The resort is at a lake and there is a really nice and easy waking trail! The staff was always helpful! The resort has its own ad adventure Center, but we did not book anything there, since we like to travel / experience more individually! There is also some things to mention, that were not ideal: the shower is not great, because you flood the whole floor! A shower cabin would be better. The resort has reindeer, which is sweet! But they had their leash all the time, stepped on it etc. I really don’t approve that! We wild love to come back though!

If I ever come back to catch aurora light, this is definitely my to-go accommodation at Rovaniemi. Location is superb! Suitable to stay for any seasons as they have different activities available for each season. Their staffs welcome and host your stay with warmest hospitality, and create a memorable and heartfelt experience. Special shout out to Allwin (from Hawaii) for his proactive, attentiveness and friendliness. We were hanging out at the fireplace near the lake (which is a distance away from the main building), he came and helped us with the fire before we can request help from them to start the fire for us
Jeremy C — Google review
The room was very nice and well equipped. Service was great. Shoutout to Patty. A great property next to the lake. The activities are very expensive so i suggest you keep your expectations in check in terms of what activities you can do on site. They have a WhatsApp number so you can text for help at any time. Someone came to help us to start a campfire at 1am. Aurora sighting on site (some) not very clear. Quiet and sufficient. Restaurants were closed and needed to be booked in advance so they can cook for you. Very safe and walkable. Nice stroll along the river. There’s a live aurora cam for the property and also an alert app for Aurora for Apukka
Sam W — Google review
An absolute dream resort! The individual cabins with glass ceilings are quaint, cozy and perfect for one or two people. The front desk staff are very friendly and provide ample information about the property and what's included in the stay. Quick, efficient communication with the resort through WhatsApp. The aurora alert app is a must! Highly recommend at least one night in this adorable resort!

Nestled on the outskirts of Rovaniemi, Nova Skyland Hotel offers a stylish and cozy retreat for families, couples, and groups. The hotel features chic villas with skylights for stargazing at night and panoramic windows to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Each accommodation comes with its own sauna and fluffy bathrobes for post-adventure relaxation. Guests can also enjoy fireplaces, decks opening onto the forest, and modern Lappish cuisine at the hotel restaurant.
We stayed in the Aurora suites and it was lovely. The bedroom upstairs has a large windows pointed up to catch the northern lights (if you were lucky enough). The downstairs living room was comfortable and it also had large windows. There were two bathrooms, one had a sauna. The decor was sleek and modern with wood finishes. Each room included the breakfast buffet in their beautiful restaurant. The food selection was excellent. The area around the hotel was breathtaking, pine trees sitting quietly in the snow. There two resident reindeers that were quite popular. The staff was friendly and helpful. Location is conveniently near the airport and close to center of town. Also walking distance to Santa Claus village. The only negative is that the rooms are not exactly sound proof. The family next to us had children that screamed all night long.
Betsy H — Google review
The location was perfect—just a short walk from Santa Claus Village. The house was spacious, with two levels, two bedrooms, and several sofa beds—more than enough for our family of four. There’s no air conditioning, so it can take some time to cool down on warmer days. The breakfast buffet at Nova Skyland Hotel was excellent, with a great selection and quality. However, the breakfast at the Christmas House Restaurant inside Santa Claus Village was disappointing in comparison. It’s also worth noting that the better buffet at Nova Skyland seems to be available only on weekends. A great place overall, especially for families visiting Santa Claus Village.

Had a great time. Rooms are spacious, sauna in room, very comfortable bed and TV has 4,000 channels. Hotel in Santa Claus Village. Nearby Santa's house and pets including reindeer and husky. Staff is friendly and very accommodating.

Amazing amazing amazing stay! The receptionist lady is very nice! The room is big and also squeaky clean. Facilities and surroundings are amazing! Would definitely be back on snowy season (hopefully the prices would not go up much 🥶😅)

We really loved our stay at NovaSkyland - rooms are cozy and beds are super comfortable. Having a private sauna in the room was absolutely amazing — such a treat! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and the location couldn’t be better — just a few steps away from Santa Claus Village. I definitely recommend this place and will absolutely be coming back one day!
Marina — Google review
We had a wonderful stay here! My daughter absolutely fell in love with Gingerbread and Heidi, the two reindeers just outside the hotel—they were a highlight of the trip. She’s already asked to come back every year! We stayed in the Nordic Cottage for 3 nights, which was spacious, beautifully designed, and had large windows that let in lots of natural light. It felt cozy and peaceful. The hotel is perfectly located for visiting Santa Claus Village—just a 2-minute walk to Santa’s Office, where you can meet Santa himself. That made things incredibly convenient, especially with a little one. The only thing to note is that the nearest supermarket is about a 10-minute drive (or a 40-minute walk), so we used Uber a few times during our stay. It wasn’t a big issue, but good to plan for if you want to explore outside the village. Overall, a magical experience—perfect for families. We’ll definitely be back!

Guesthouse Borealis is a family-run bed-and-breakfast in Rovaniemi, offering budget-friendly rooms and apartments. The location is ideal for easy access to the city center and Santa village, with the train station just a 5-minute walk away. The accommodation provides a buffet breakfast with various options and features an in-house self-cooking kitchen. Additionally, they offer an in-house laundry service for convenience.
My room was very clean and functional. You have to borrow a hairdryer. Staff friendly, breakfast good. Only wifi was not ideal in my room at the end of the hall. The location is great. Behind the building there is a path to the train station (150 m). What you can't find on Google Maps: there is a cheap public bus line to the center in front of the door, line 4. Download the app. At the train station just take line 8 and for 4€ you get to Santa Claus Village. Instead of taking expensive private buses.
Vulcanus — Google review
This is a super nice little guesthouse. Breakfast is fantastic, staff is very nice and helpful. The common kitchen has everything you need to make tea or put your food in the fridge. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is a constant hot water issue. This was especially in the evenings. One evening there was no hot water at all; I let the water run for nearly 10 mins! It was ice cold! Two other evenings there was only lukewarm water. When showering in the mornings, hot water quickly turned ice cold. Then you had to shut it off for a moment and turn back on; and repeat; and repeat; etc. This made it impossible to get shampoo and conditioner out of your hair quickly. The hot water issue needs to be fixed! The situation is impossible in the winter!
Laguz E — Google review
The staff were really friendly and helpful. They tried their best to communicate with me by Google translate. The location might be challenging for you to carry a luggage to Rovaniemi station in the winter. Luckily, the supermarket market is quite near. The room was totally fine to have a safe and quiet space to sleep well. By the way, they did not provide luggage keeping for before and after check-in.
김설아 — Google review
If you're looking for a straightforward, budget-friendly place to stay, this guesthouse gets the job done. The quality is what you'd expect for the price, offering a no-frills, basic experience. There are a couple of points to be aware of before booking. The 10 a.m. check-out time is on the early side, and it's important to know that there is no luggage storage available. This might require you to make alternative plans if you have a later flight or want to explore the city after checking out. Additionally, the Wi-Fi connection can be slow. It works fine for quick tasks like checking email or sending messages, but it's not ideal for streaming or for anyone who needs a consistent connection for work. Overall, this guesthouse provides a simple and affordable place to sleep, but it has a few weak points that could be easily solved
David B — Google review
The hotel was in a very good location. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the water was always lukewarm to cold. Even the lukewarm water wasn’t enough to rinse off properly.

We had a fantastic stay at this family Rin guesthouse. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and gave us recommendations for restaurants etc. The breakfast was lovely with a nice choice of cooked meats, cereal and porridge. The bread and rolls were lovely and fresh everyday. The kitchen was clean, tidy and with a dishwasher. Overall I would recommend this guesthouse, and would definitely stay here again.

With elegant spaces that promote tranquility, it's an amazing location for those seeking a truly beautiful escape.
The resort was beautiful. The food was amazing! Even though we didn't end up seeing the Northern Lights because of awful cloud coverage, we still managed to get the Scandinavian experience with the sauna and cold plunge into the freezing lake. Inclusive shuttle to and from the airport was a bonus.

Stayed Oct 3–5, 2025 Due to the season, there weren’t many activities available, but on the bright side, there were fewer guests, so we were able to enjoy the full attention and service from the staff. Their hospitality was wonderful—very friendly and always attentive to the guests. The facilities were very clean, and we had a great time in the sauna and the lake! The Aurora Nest was a bit small and had some inconveniences, but it was still a very enjoyable experience. Our lake view room had easy access to various facilities, and although the interior was simple, the Marimekko mugs were adorable, and the amenities were plentiful and lovely. Next time, I’d love to stay in the treehouse! Food was also amazing! Both breakfast and dinner tasted carefully prepared, and we could really feel the chef’s thoughtfulness and warmth:) Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the northern lights, but we truly enjoyed our stay. I genuinely think it was the best hotel service I’ve ever received. It might be different during peak season, so I personally recommend staying here even in the low season!
Saki — Google review
Great potential in an amazing location. Location is stunning, the hotel is brand new and really beautiful. Staff is amazing, esp. Andrea and Fay at reception and waiters at the restaurant. Food is really good, breakfast delicious. Spa is really beautiful too. Free transfer was very much appreciated. I stayed in the nest but felt disappointed because I expected it to be in the dark, but there are lights from the sauna building all night and all the nests are close to each other so no privacy at all (and more light). There are tea bags in the nest and no kettle.. I suggest the owner to move the nests in a darker area, because people who choose them want to feel part of the nature, not in the city centre. People say it’s expensive, but I guess it’s Finland prices, so I think it depends on where you come from. Anyway, could be a 10 with some improvements.

What an amazing place! We stayed in the Aurora Nests, and it was everything we hoped it would be. The staff went above and beyond making us comfortable. The food was outstanding at the restaurant, and chef even created a special meal for a diet restriction. The spa can be summed up in one word. OUTSTANDING!

This is really a gem for the summertime! We witnessed the midnight sun, did spectacular hiking, and took advantage of the complementary activities on site … Kayaked for two hours on the glassy and quiet lake. Got to see traditional Finnish cottages up close. We road fat bikes through the arctic forest which was super special. Enjoyed the Himalayan salt baths and the traditional sauna heated with birch wood. If we had to book each of these activities separately it would have been hundreds of euros extra and not give us the flexibility to start and stop as we wish. It’s surprising that not more people would enjoy this resort in the summer months, so if you are looking for a peaceful nature resort to decompress this could be your spot! Thank you for having us Aito Resort!

We spent the day at the spa here and had an incredible experience. The grounds are beautiful and would be a great stay year round. The spa is excellent - multiple saunas, pool, hot tub, and steam options as well as halo therapy, other services and plenty of places to lounge and relax with great views of the lake. The service was friendly and attentive. Would highly recommond a visit if you're looking for relaxation near Rovaniemi.

Kätkävaara Aurora Apartments and Snow Igloos offer accommodation close to important nature conservation sites, making it one of the best places for observing the Northern Lights. Situated about 10 km away from a motorway, this distant location provides a dramatically scenic nature path with both mild and hardcore options. The apartments are known for their comfortable atmosphere and friendly owner, set in the midst of stunning landscapes.
Had a brilliant time for our short stay. We arrived at 3AM and the host had a hot meal waiting for us - so hospitable! Well organised, had the place to ourselves, tobogganing run at the back and a fab spot to watch the Northern Lights at the other side. Rooms were comfortable and we had a wing to ourselves with 3 rooms to accommodate a family of 5. Private sauna was great too although I don't think I'll be rushing to roll around in the snow anytime soon :) Thanks for a great stay.

Warning EV drivers! The owner of the place has some sort of attitude issue with EVs. First, no one told us chatging an EV cost you more on top of base electricity fee. When the owner found out we were charging our EV he cut off the power. Next, we were told it would cost us 34€ more on top of the other costs. The owner blamed his employee for what happened in front of us and she even offered pay some compensation so we would stay. We didn't. We usually won't stay in placies of which owners are as***les.

Lauri is a true hidden gem in Rovaniemi. I and my friends stayed in the beautiful historical loghouse which was perfect for our group of 4, (cozy spacious and full of character). It made our trip feel really special! Also, the location is ideal as it is just a short walk to the city centre and the museum. The accommodation has also a small souvenir shop on the ground floor. A lovely place full of authentic handmade items crafted from natural materials. You can even see the artisan working through a window into the workshop which makes the experience even more unique. Both the stay and the shop were highlights of our trip in Rovaniemi and we highly recommend visiting if you want something truly local and memorable!

Our stay at Lauri Apartments an the Lauri Handcraft Shop were some of the most memorable parts of our trip to Rovaniemi! The apartment was cozy, spotlessly clean, and full of charm, with beautiful traditional Finnish decor and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the location was perfect — close to the city center, yet quiet and surrounded by nature. It felt like a true home away from home. What made the experience even more special was the Lauri Handcraft Shop, located right on the same historic property. The shop is filled with locally made treasures — wooden crafts, reindeer horn items, and unique gifts that reflect the soul of Lapland. Every piece feels personal and handcrafted with care. The staff and hosts were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help with tips about the area or stories behind the products. You can truly feel the passion and love they put into both the accommodations and the handmade crafts. If you’re visiting Rovaniemi, staying at Lauri Apartments and visiting the shop is a must. It’s more than just a place to sleep or shop — it’s a cultural experience that connects you to the heart of Lapland.

Our stay here for a couple of days was truly delightful. The rooms were immaculate and had a cozy, homely vibe that made us feel welcome. The well-equipped kitchen area was a bonus that made our stay even more comfortable. Lauri's location was very convenient, as the grocery store was nearby. Additionally, the guesthouse had a charming shop with good quality items. One of our favorite experiences during our trip was aurora watching, which we had the opportunity to do here. The barbecue and fire pit created a superb ambiance, and the breathtaking view was just the cherry on top.

Kotimaailma Apartments Rovaniemi offers a range of brightly decorated apartments in central Rovaniemi, each equipped with free WiFi and well-equipped kitchens. The location is convenient, with Santa Claus Village just a 15-minute drive away. Guests have praised the comfort and cleanliness of the apartments, as well as their proximity to the city center and local amenities. Some have noted that the apartments can feel cold at times, but overall, they offer good value for money.
Amazing place! We stayed here back in February when it was -10°C & we couldn’t have found a better apartment to stay in. The place was clean, warm, comfortable & spacious. The toilets had underfloor heating & the sauna was a bonus after coming from the outdoor cold. If we came back to Rovaniemi in the future we will definitely stay here again!

This was a nice apartment overall. It's not luxury, but it works if you will not spend too much time there. There are 2 single beds in the bedroom with a sliding door separating that from the kitchen/lounge where the sofa folds out. Don't expect to do anything in the lounge when people are sleeping in the bedroom because there is no sound insulation! Washing machine did not work in the bathroom and stuck out into the room. Sofa bed was not the most comfortable. Kitchen was equipped was pots/pans and plates etc. It was all you needed for quite simple meals. There was a dishwasher with tablets provided. Room was very warm - had to open the windows in the evening even after turning the thermostat down! Better than way than too cold. The bathroom was odd - the washing machine did not fit under the counter and so stuck out into the room. It meant the shower door did not open properly and made washing tricky. The sauna did work. Good hosts - never met them, but good messages and easy key colletion/return. Location wise it was only a 5 minute walk into the centre of town. Also close to the park.

Nice appartment in the city center, fully equipted, big and clean . Easy self check in. The only thing i didnt like is that the mattress on the bed was thick.

Korkalonkatu 36 Well, this review was forced to withdraw, I decided to post it again. This is a brand new apartment with great design and lighting. But , Apartment near the street side,There was too much noise from the vehicles and it was impossible to sleep. There are still people doing road construction at night.

Good apartment with all necessities inside. You can also cook if you want. It is quite cold in the apartment, maybe it is like this in all their homes but for us it was a no go. We had thermostat inside, but i think it did not work since it made no difference. We were on the last floor but our friends told us they were also cold. Otherwise, the apartment is near a park where you find slides and a slope for the children to play. Also very near city center 7min walk and 2min walk till a bus station.

Nice and cozy.we stayed for 3 days in the December 2024. Kitchen was well equipped. It was expensive though.
Jutika D — Google review
Great price/quality ratio. When I arrived it was a bit dusty and could have been cleaned better. There's a spot to park your car, balcony and supermarkets are around the corner. The private sauna really made my week.
Jeff G — Google review
It was a nice little apartment, with a Sauna, was reasonably priced at $60.00 per night, good location, across from a museum, within walking distance to the Train Station & Bus Terminal. Was very neat, had recycling containers in front of Building which is always important. Washer/Drier Combination, extra shampoo & conditioner, tea & coffee.

First of all, best hostess ever! Aaria is extremely nice and helpful with all your needs. Her breakfast is good and her Finnish pancakes are amazing. The B&B is very clean and welcoming. The b&b has 2 toilets and showers to share which are always clean. This was my first time sharing and didn't mind it at all. Can't say enough on how great it was staying here for 5 days.
