Lodge
The Ivy Lodge is a 19th-century mansion in Newport's Mansion District, offering elegant and luxurious accommodations. The rooms and suites are filled with antiques and feature four-poster canopy beds, wet bars, and French country accents. The grand oak entryway adds to the Victorian-style charm of the property. This bed and breakfast is a popular choice for honeymoons and weekend getaways, providing a romantic atmosphere reminiscent of a romance novel.
We stayed this week. We can't say enough good things about this beautiful family owned Inn. Amazing warm and friendly hospitality from family and staff. Incredible Gourmet breakfasts cooked by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef! Where can you get that? Every tiny detail was thought of and we felt very at ease and at "home". It was quiet, restful and relaxing on every level. We give this a 10 plus and look forward to returning. Thanks, Kathleen & Tren

My wife and I stayed for four nights at this magnificent family owned BB, located in a convenient and safe neighborhood just minutes away from the famed "Thames Street". The Ivy Lodge common grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are cozy and extremely clean with exceptional service from the staff. And the breakfast's were to die for. This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning in the future. Thanks Jacqui

So we stayed here over Memorial Day weekend (a little late of a review). This place is ethereal. Between the architecture inside with the dark mahogany wood and brilliantly carved staircase, this place makes you feel as if you’re transported back into time. There’s a certain charm to this place and being that it’s family owned, it makes sense. It’s tucked off the beaten path but everything is easily accessible (Thames street or the many mansions). All I have to say is this place is a true gem and the chocolate chip cookies are to die for. Would definitely stay again.

We first came across Ivy Lodge in June 2022 and were completely in love with the whole experience. The building is so gorgeous and unique, everything from the common area to the rooms are so cozy and welcoming. Not to mention the fresh cooked breakfasts included are out of this world! We came back for a second trip in December 2023 and my fiancé proposed in the common space our last night there. Ivy Lodge will always hold a special spot in our hearts- looking forward to making a trip here every year!

Lovely B&B Beautiful home Nice room on 3rd fl Shower was weak but understandable in an old home. Breakfast was good. Could use some more options such as fruit and pastries in case you arent a fan of what is being made that morning. Location is in the mansion district. Can walk to Cliff Walk Downtown we had to drive but not far
Darin W — Google review
The Ivy Lodge is perfect! My husband and I stayed here for 4 days the weekend after Labor day. The location is ideal - set in a residential area but still within walking distance of the madness of Thames St. The innkeepers, Jacqui, Wes and Alex were all very kind and welcoming. We mainly saw Wes during our time there. When we first arrived he spent time giving us the rundown of the property and providing recommendations of places to go and things to do both on-site and in the surrounding area, knowing we did not bring a car and would be going everywhere on foot. Interactions with Jacqui and Alex were during breakfast time and were just as pleasant. Main highlights of this inn: -Location of the property being central to pretty much everything in Newport you would want to do for a few days. Especially convenient to The Elms, down the block and across the street. -Cleanliness of the room and the overall property. The housekeeping staff does not slack in any area. The room always smelled fresh and they left chocolate truffles on the table each day to enjoy after many hours out and about. The shared pantry area was also cleaned continuously, with the sink promptly emptied of used glasses and spoons and supplies always refilled. -Extremely hospitable hosts who take great care of their property and their guests. Anything we needed, including things we didn't know we needed, were available. Including the host provided refreshments that were always well stocked and provided a great variety of items 24 hours a day. This included coffee, tea, juices, hot chocolate, granola bars, bags of salty/savory snacks, cookies - pretty much anything you had a craving for you could find. -The Turret Room. Large, but also cozy with ample seating and table space, along with a small refrigerator, gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub and canopy bed. You feel like you are in another time here, except for the large tv that can be used for both watching something or listening to the many music channels. It was also nice to have a bathroom that is separated from the bed/sitting area. -Delicious breakfast. Homecooked each morning by what I assume is a trained chef. Served not too early (starting at 8:30) and with a good rotation of entrees. During our stay, it was blueberry pancakes, Croque Madame, and Belgian waffles with macerated berries. Wishing I had taken photos of all the meals, as they were both delicious and beautifully presented. With this our first trip to Newport and also our first time at a B&B, I would 100% recommend anyone else venturing out that way take the opportunity to stay at this lovely and charming inn.

The lovely, historic Ivy Lodge was our honeymoon stay. We had Turret Room, the best room in the house, and could hardly have loved it more. The hosts and staff went out of their way to make our stay special and comfortable. They serve a delicious breakfast. The owner is an interior designer, so the rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, and also very clean.

Wonderful getaway! The Ivy Lodge is filled with charm with all of the comforts of home. They also accommodated my gluten-free diet! Sweet family run operation. We will be back!

Nestled in the heart of Newport, The Francis Malbone House is a charming and historic bed and breakfast that exudes elegance. Dating back to 1760, this boutique inn offers guests a delightful blend of modern comforts and period furnishings across its 20 uniquely themed rooms. Visitors can enjoy cozy fireplaces, beautiful garden views, and luxurious amenities like the Counting House Suite with its private entrance and double jacuzzi.
We had such a lovely and relaxing weekend stay—truly the perfect getaway. A huge thank you to Gretchen for going above and beyond, especially for arranging the dinner reservations at Flora to celebrate my birthday. It made the evening so special! And thank you to Suz for her graciousness and warm hospitality, as well as the entire crew for making us feel so welcome. The house itself was incredibly comfortable and had such a welcoming atmosphere—we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. We can’t wait to visit again soon!

Probably the best find in Newport! Adorably quaint hotel with beautiful individually decorated rooms that are exceptionally clean. The courtyard is a peaceful retreat and has all the charm of an old English garden. Every rooms attention to details and welcoming feeling makes for a relaxing getaway. The staff complete the Francis Malbone experience with their friendly relaxed hospitality who truly seem to love sharing this beautiful house with guests. Truly an oasis in the middle of the hustle in Newport. Can’t wait to come back! The Lairds 07.09.25

My girlfriend and I recently spent five unforgettable days at the Francis Malbone House in Newport, RI, and it’s safe to say we loved absolutely everything about our stay. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the staff made us feel instantly at home. Their service was impeccable: they received a package for us with no fuss, helped us navigate restaurant reservations, and even offered fantastic advice on things to do and see around Newport. We stayed in the Courtyard Suite and could not have been happier with our choice. The suite was beautifully appointed, quiet, and felt like a true getaway—a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Having breakfast in the sun-filled courtyard was a daily highlight. The selection and quality of the food were outstanding—delicious, beautifully presented, and different each morning. The afternoon tea service was another lovely touch. It felt like a little indulgence every day, with homemade treats and excellent tea in a cozy setting. One of our favorite features was the honor bar—a rarity these days and done so well at the Francis Malbone House. It was a wonderful way to unwind after a day of exploring Newport. The property itself is gorgeous, a historic gem set right in the heart of the city, close to all the best shops, restaurants, and sights, but blissfully quiet at night. Most of all, it was the welcoming and attentive staff who made this place so special. Their attention to detail and genuine helpfulness really set the tone for our whole trip. We’ve already recommended the Francis Malbone House to friends and can’t wait to return ourselves. If you’re looking for a romantic, memorable, and homey escape in Newport, this is the place to be!

Visited Newport for the first time and stayed at the lovely Francis Malbone House. It is charming and close to shops and restaurants. The staff are so sweet and accommodating. They serve a delicious full breakfast as well as tea in the afternoon. I couldn’t imagine a better place to stay in Newport!
Josh K — Google review
Firstly- what the inn gets right. The breakfast service and tea service is really wonderful. The staff is warm and helpful. The location is very convenient for walking around Newport and they have ample parking out back. Now why they wouldn’t get a 5 star review and possibly I would try other accommodations vs returning. (room 8)The bed was uncomfortable and needed to be replaced. There wasn’t a nightstand on my side of the bed which makes it inconvenient. The housekeeping staff also didn’t lock our bedroom door after cleaning which meant that our room was unlocked for 7 hours and accessible to whomever.
Elias J — Google review
This historic colonial home, now converted inn, is a gem on Thames Street. It is the once grand mansion house, finest in Newport (before the Gilded Age of the Cottages) of Francis Malbone - an early colonial and American merchant family of the area. The inn has the old world charm and first class service and modern amenities. Bathrooms are spacious and clean, rooms are cozy, homey, and comfy, and the complementary warm and cold breakfast is top notch - you can eat it in the peaceful coutyard or in their perfectly modeled 18th-century dining room (part of the new 1989 addition). The afternoon tea and snacks were ideal for an afternoon of rest from hitting the town. The staff are attentive, friendly, quick, and very helpful and make you feel right at home. We felt well looked after since the moment we arrived and we were sad to leave. If you have a love of history and the old world, and still want modern amenities and first class service, book a room here, I cannot recommend it more highly.

The Francis Malbone Inn is a gem in Newport! The rooms are stunning and so historic that it makes you feel like you have traveled back in time!! The staff become like your family during your stay, especially Sue. We can't wait to return!!

A truly lovely stay! Excellent service that went above and beyond. The charm of the historic hotel is delightful. I appreciated the attention to detail in all aspects. Very comfortable beds. The location is perfect, within walking distance to everything, yet incredibly quiet and peaceful. A very memorable experience.

Burbank Rose Bed & Breakfast is conveniently located near Local Easton's Public Beach and sports venues like Cardines Field. Kingscote House Museum is just a short stroll away, and T.F. Green airport is easily accessible at 45 km distance. Guests have praised the hospitality of the owner, Brian, who goes above and beyond to make visitors feel at home. The inn offers a cozy sitting room with complimentary snacks and coffee, while the comfortable bedrooms provide a snug retreat.
This inn provided the best experience I’ve ever had for accommodation. I stayed her for six days over a conference in Newport, this place makes it feel like home. The sitting room is delicate and welcoming with snacks and coffee. The bedroom is very comfortable, I love the bed and bedding which feels soft and snuggle. I enjoyed every minute talking with the owner, Brian. He is such a kind person and he provided bakeries and fruits every morning to the door. I’m sad that Brian is about to sell this business soon this August. I really hope I can come back with my family to enjoy staying in this inn once again. Thank you, Brian! Regards, Henry

My husband and I stayed at The Burbank Rose in December for a Christmas dinner we had in Newport with co-workers. We are hoping to head back this summer. I realized I never wrote a review. The Inn has been completely remodeled recently and looks like something out of Costal Living Magazine! Everything was perfect and luxurious. The remodel was so tastefully done and although everything is brand new, it has somehow kept its historical charm. We travel frequently and the Burbank Rose checks all of the boxes for us. The rooms were very fresh & clean, the location was amazing-we walked everywhere. The restaurants and shopping are all right there. The bright common room had complimentary coffee and breakfast options, fruit, yogurt, pastries etc. This Inn is exactly what one would imagine a New England Coastal inn to be down to every last detail. I can't wait to go back during the summer season. It will be our go to place to stay from now on when visiting Newport.
Tara M — Google review
My husband and I have been visiting Brian at the Burbank Rose since 2017. Each stay is wonderful. The rooms are always clean (I even misplaced my phone and was looking under the bed once and it was completely dust free), the bathrooms are nice and the larger rooms have extra room in the bathrooms. The rooms with kitchen areas are wonderful. We enjoy having a glass of wine at the table before we head out to stroll around town around sunset. We have stayed in almost all of the rooms at this point and each has its own charm. Parking is across the street and easy to access. The location of the inn is essential to a wonderful stay in Newport. We have walked to the Breakers, First Beach, Cliff walk, to shops, and fabulous restaurants all from the inn without the need to take our car. Brain is such a asset to have as a innkeeper as well. He always has ideas on where to go or what food to try and every suggestion has been spot on. The Burbank Rose is more like a home away from home for us than just a B&B. We can't wait until our next visit!
Brittney V — Google review
This property is sold as an Inn but it is just an air bnb. There was no staff present. The "inn" is open to anyone 24 hours a day only your door has a lock. Breakfast is a convenience store plastic wrapped muffin and Keurig coffee. Parking was supposed to be included but we learned upon our arrival that was not the case. The closest parking was 1/3 mile away at a cost of $30 a day which had to be renewed daily before 9am. There is no service at all, no towels or toiletries replenished. If you had just said you were an air bnb we would have chosen a different property. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed but ours was on the very 3rd floor and the stairwell was not lit until you actually reached the landing which was very unsafe! I would not stay here twice.
Amy M — Google review
Brian was spectacular. Staying at a piece of history this 3 story B&B was one of the best parts of our trip to Newport. Being from Texas we are very accustomed to southern hospitality and while we weren’t in the south the hospitality shown to my wife and I was just like being home. Brian went above and beyond with accommodations as well as giving us some history of the town, and FANTASTIC FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS!! You can’t go wrong with this beautiful home and such an awesome host. We will definitely be coming back as long as Brian owns it!! Thanks again for all the memories you were absolutely fantastic!
Josh Z — Google review
Unreal location and impeccable style. Stones throw away with all the action and the rooms are so well decorated and spacious. We rented the entire inn out for a girls weekend and it was perfect. Will definitely be back!
Alicia O — Google review
Very disappointed in this place. I paid for the room with a kitchenette and was told through email confirmation that I was staying in the "wicker room" on the first floor which has a kitchenette. A virtual tour link was also sent to me to tour my room. However, upon arrival Brian said we only have one room left. And proceeded to take me to the 2nd floor to the " southwest room" which had no kitchen. The room is very small and the TV is balanced on top of the microwave which is balanced on top of a dorm room fridge. The place is in dire need of updating and renovation. Paint is falling off the place everywhere, and the windows allow every sound from outside to fill the tiny little room. I will not return. Very unfortunate that this has happened given my wife and I are frequent visitors to Newport. Expected much more from this place given I have several confirmation emails about the room I paid for and did not receive!.

We had such an amazing and cozy stay here! The room was incredibly comfy, homey, and perfectly fit the Newport vibe. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance, which made exploring so easy. Breakfast was a highlight—homemade, absolutely delicious, and served in the cutest setting. The owner was welcoming and kind, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Everyone was so inviting, and the atmosphere overall was just perfect. I can’t wait to come back and stay here again on my next trip to Newport!

We only have great things to say about the Beech Tree Inn and Cottage. We stayed for two nights during our recent visit to Newport. The Inn is in a great location, super close to all the shops and restaurants. The exterior is well kept and super charming and the grounds were well manicured. Angela greeted us when we arrived and was very friendly and professional. Our room was spacious, updated and very clean. (Double bonus having a fireplace and giant tub in our bedroom.😃) Breakfast in the dining room was delicious and very comfortable. I cannot recommend this venue enough. You won’t be disappointed!!

We had such a great stay at Beech Tree! The check-in process was smooth and easy. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the amenities were so thoughtful. Everywhere we looked there was an indication of the love put into this place. Our breakfast was also delicious. We will book again!

We stayed here on a whim for our one night in Newport and couldn’t have chosen a better B&B! The room was spacious, clean and while we didn’t use it, the jacuzzi was a very cool touch. The front desk staff member was helpful and communicative and the owner was lovely to chat with. The location was perfect to walk downtown and around the beautiful neighborhood. The breakfast was fantastic and it was very fun to meet some of the other guests who were staying there as well. Our pup enjoyed it as well!
Whitney S — Google review
I went here as part of my honeymoon 4 years ago and absolutely loved it! The people who work here are very friendly and down to earth. The entire place is extremely clean, homey, and beautiful. The breakfast is delicious and there are some excellent restaurants in the area for lunch and dinner (our favorite was the Brick Alley Pub). The room was spacious and gorgeous, and we appreciated the check in process as we got there later than we had originally hoped but were able to check in easily regardless. I would absolutely go here again!

went here for our anniversary and we had a fantastic time. for the price it felt so luxurious to have breakfast, a balcony, a kitchen, and such a nice place to stay! me and my boyfriend really enjoyed the outdoor seating with beautiful lights at night. the shower was super spacious and the room felt so open. for the price you’re really getting so much! bonus points for friendly bunnies in the garden!

My wife and I were very impressed with the Beechtree Inn. The rooms were very clean and exterior and landscaping was well maintained . Owners are on property 1st class Bed and Breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and coffee, juices homemade brownies, cookies etc. just perfect. On the 1st and 3 rd floor is a nice outside area to relax. We bought a 1 year Newport mansions Access pass for one + guest for $115 and are going to come back spring 2026 and use our pass again. We hope we can book at this wonderful bed and breakfast again. Most of the restaurants and mansion museums are within 5-10 minutes.

The Artful Lodger Inn is a Victorian B&B with harbor views and free Wi-Fi. It offers five non-smoking rooms, each comfortably decorated and some with fireplaces and jetted tubs. Guests enjoy breakfast overlooking the harbor each morning.
Spent a snow day/night there. Literally a 15min walk to downtown area. Excellent room with jacuzzi, fireplace and mini fridge all in suite. Off season so great price. Staff was extremely courteous and kind. Breakfast was excellent and had a great view of the snowy little town

Amazing room when we stayed over the winter for my wife's birthday. This place did have perfectly clean rooms, everything felt so comfortable! Nice and quiet, with so much charm, and a delicious accomodating breakfast I can only compare to waking up at someones awesome grandmas house; Bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, all of the delicious aromas, with parfaits too. EXCELLENT service throughout our stay. We will be back!

Me and my wife stayed here for 2 nights on our New England road trip. There was plenty of parking at the back of the property. The location is great for local food and sightseeing. It's specially close to the cliff walk if you're feeling energetic. The room and the building itself felt just like somebody's home and Heidi and her friend made the best pancakes ever and we're really welcoming. Thanks for a great stay. I'd 100% recommend.
Danno — Google review
This place was seriously perfect. I had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, and honestly was a little hesitant, but overall I loved the experience. The location was perfect, we were here for a wedding and able to walk to everything. The rooms were clean. The staff were so friendly. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the conservatory, and they keep a bottle of wine out for you to sip and enjoy the view any time of the day. Would definitely stay again next time we are in Newport.

There was 7 of us staying in different rooms because we went down to see The Nutcracker in the Rose Cliff Mansion and the Artful Lodger is very charming, our room was big, and the bed was very comfortable. The women Heidi was very accommodating and very nice. The women cooking the breakfast was nice too.

I'm delighted to have found this gem on my recent trip to Newport. I came to town with my teenage son for a lacrosse tournament and had zero knowledge of the area; I was just seeking the cheapest place to sleep since all our time would be spent at the lacrosse field. However, this B&B was so charming! The location was perfect - surrounded by fun shopping, great dining, and SO many activities. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and makes amazing breakfast. The room was spacious, homey, and very comfortable. I 100% recommend The Artful Lodger.
Emily W — Google review
Is the second time we stay here. First time was last November for a wknd. And now this summer 2024. We really feel like we found a Gem. Heidi is amazing always there to help. Bedroom's are very clean and spacious with closets and drawers. Safe neighbour to walk at night, close to everything. Excellent parking lot, we left our car there all week didn't need it because everything was so close by.
Gabriela A — Google review
A friend and I stayed at the Artful Lodger Inn for three nights. We loved every minute of it. The house has so much charm and the room we stayed in (The Victoria Room) was clean. The king size bed was so comfortable, and the bedding was of nice quality. Heidi is probably the best host I have ever encountered. She is extremely friendly and so willing to help with anything. I also love the fact this house is so close to town and also close to the Cliff Walk. We were able to park our car in their (free) parking lot and walk everywhere. We didn't have to worry about driving around trying to find a parking spot. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. If I go back to Newport, I will definitely stay here again.

Captain Simeon Potter House is a charming bed and breakfast that provides a distinctive vacation experience. This restored 18th-century sea captain's home boasts modern conveniences while celebrating its rich history through original artwork and period furnishings. With four spacious chambers and suites featuring hardwood floors and comfortable poster beds, guests can indulge in rest and relaxation. The establishment offers waterfront views, a beautiful garden, making it an ideal base for a tranquil group trip or a relaxing holiday getaway.
Our family stayed for 4 nights at this absolutely beautiful, carefully restored 300-year old sea captain's home. It's located on the edge of the Point section of Newport, and is within walking distance of many restaurants, shopping and historic points of interest. I know Newport well and have seen the city evolve and change over the past 40 years. A mother-daughter team (Joanna and Sarina) owns this bed-and-breakfast, and they clearly know what they are doing. This house is run in the classic style of bed-and-breakfasts; lovely, relaxed accommodations, fresh, white linens, and a delicious, homemade organic breakfast that will likely please everyone. The historic restoration was completed almost 20 years ago (2005) and the meticulous attention to the details of this restoration (orchestrated by Joanna) are very apparent (according to the architect with us). But you don't have to be an architectural historian to appreciate the warm hospitality and genuine interest that Joanna and Sarina take in getting to know their guests. They are so welcoming, so hospitable, so flexible, and so knowledgeable. They've perfected the blend of being available when you need them (like when we accidentally dropped the room key into a hole in the floor), and then giving you ample space and privacy. Unfortunately, Sarina was on crutches and a hard leg brace for a very recent injury, and was clearly quite uncomfortable, but you'd never know it. They didn't miss a beat, and this was a master class in professional teamwork. But we also feel as if we've made two new friends. We'll definitely be back.

My husband and I loved our stay at CSP! We were in Newport for the first time and Sarina gave us invaluable tips on activities, parking, and local foodie spots. Captain Simeon is also in a fantastic location right next to Goat Island (beautiful sunsets!) and walkable to the wharf. We felt so relaxed and welcome here in this gorgeously renovated historic home full of light, plants, and cozy touches like afternoon sweets and a delicious breakfast spread. Recommending this spot to friends and family and would love to go back in the future!

Our stay at the Captain Simeon Potter House was such a lovely experience thanks to our wonderful hosts. They welcomed us with grace and handled every possible need imaginable: from suggestions of where best to have lunch to how to get around Newport. The house itself is stunning, and is filled with history and original architectural features throughout—we felt like we stepped back in time and yet not without all modern conveniences necessary for comfort and relaxation.

This bed and breakfast is an all-around 5-star experience. Sarina, your host, is wonderful and full of knowledge and recommendations around town. The house itself is gorgeous and gives you a taste of Newport history. A parking pass is provided for free parking in various areas of town. We were able to park outside of the B&B and walk into town very easily! The location is great--walkable to shops and restaurants, and still by the water. I highly recommend booking this property--it is ideal in location and utility, but is also managed by wonderful people!

Beautiful home and gardens! Perfect location for the trolleys, Bowen’s Wharf, etc all easily walkable in a safe neighborhood. Sarina gave us wonderful ideas of places to go that we couldn’t have figured out on our own. Delicious breakfasts and comfortable rooms. She had sent a list of restaurants ahead that were helpful from a local’s point of view. Cannot recommend highly enough when you are in Newport!

We stayed at Captain Simeon Potter house for three nights in April 2025 and had a wonderful stay - great location just a short walk to the centre of town. The house is absolutely beautiful, the rooms, and importantly the beds, are supremely comfortable and there were lots of small touches such as flowers and toiletries that really make a difference. Sarina and Joanna were exceptional hosts - the breakfast was amazing and other treats were left for us to enjoy during the day. Thank you so much!

We had a lovely stay at the Simeon Potter House. The house is beautifully restored and the rooms were very comfortable for our family. Sarina who runs the house made delicious breakfast each day and is delightful to chat with. We got to enjoy a pair of perfect sunsets from the house and it was walkable to all the restaurants in town. We’ll look forward to coming back soon.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like family. So many personal touches and such great service. The home was welcoming, clean, and well appointed. The location was perfect. Thank you for helping to make our stay special, we’ll be back.

this place is a diamond in the rough. The kindest staff, cleanest bathrooms, dancing, fast service, proper protection and safety. Good vibes are found here. Pricy but worth the money.

I like most of the bands they have, and the drinks aren't bad. However, I heard one of the bartenders making a demeaning comment about my sexual orientation. The only time it has ever happened in this town.
Raymond — Google review
I attended Newport Blues for my birthday on 06/27 (yesterday), its a favorite for my friends and I. Upon entering the establishment I ordered my first drink at the small bar close to the entrance, its convenient and easy to get a drink when everyone first gets there. My party of 8 all ordered our drinks, I was last, and the bartender served my first drink of the night. The problem is at that moment I got distracted by one of my friends talking, after I grabbed my drink, I didn’t walk away or anything, I just thought my friend had already paid. Still staying next to the bar, I felt something whip my face. I looked over and it was the bartender that threw a lime at my face with a decent amount of force, I didn’t think much of it, I thought she was just trying to get my attention which she definitely did. It was a very honest mistake that I hadn’t paid for the last drink. I set my drink down and pulled out my wallet immediately, but the bartender grabbed my drink that I hadn’t even taken a sip out of yet, threw it across the way into the trash and yelled at me to get out multiple times. Not a single person worked that corner bar for the rest of the night and I’m taking this time to say that was extremely rude, unprofessional, humiliating and outright disrespectful. It was my first drink for my birthday celebration with my closest friends at a place we really enjoy. I really do like this place but that should not be the protocol for employees in this place of business, I’m very disappointed. The entertainment is great, but if you ever feel like being assaulted for ordering a drink by some moody bartender, the entertainment and medium priced drinks are no longer worth your time. 2 Stars is generous.

I bought tickets to a wrestling event and after driving all the way to newport me and my friend find it's canceled. No email no notifications, nothing. I've been trying to call for 3 days to get into contact with anyone. No one returns my calls or emails. I will be actively telling people Not to deal with the newport blues cafe. A bunch of scam artists.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk is a luxurious hotel located along the iconic Cliff Walk in Newport, RI. Housed in a 19th-century mansion, this opulent property offers 20 uniquely designed rooms filled with antiques and upscale amenities. The hotel boasts breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, acres of manicured gardens, and a historic charm that exudes old-world grandeur. Each room features a fireplace, private hot tubs, and heated bathroom floors for ultimate comfort.
An unforgettable honeymoon experience! We spent two nights at The Chandler at Cliff in Newport this past October for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely magical. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, personal, and attentive — they truly made us feel special. The hotel itself is stunning — elegant, historic, and perched right on the cliffs with breathtaking ocean views. The location alone is worth the trip, but what really stood out was the food. The lobster was hands-down some of the best we’ve ever had — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Everything about our stay felt thoughtful and unique, from the charming rooms to the little details that made our celebration feel extra memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to start our married life. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway or special occasion. We’ll definitely be back!
Yann C — Google review
We had a mostly great stay here, in Martha Vineyard! The service was top-notch—everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Housekeeping really impressed us with their attention to detail; the room was clean, fresh, and nicely set up. It had a cozy, comfortable feel that made it easy to settle in and relax. There were a couple of hiccups during our stay. Unfortunately, we did encounter some bugs—ants near the wet bar and bathroom, spiders around the hot tub, and flies on the porch. We're not fans of bugs, so this was definitely a downside and took away from the overall comfort. Additionally, the jacuzzi tub didn’t drain properly the first night, though that issue was resolved afterward. That said, the warm hospitality and attention to cleanliness truly stood out. With improved pest control and a bit more maintenance, this could be an excellent getaway spot. We suggest to maybe opt for a room instead of a villa to avoid the bugs.

We stopped by after the cliff walk for a pizza, but ended up not getting it. While the view is very nice, the servers, the waiters, and the other clientele all have a certain demeanour to them. Specifically, this place caters to a certain demographic, and will give you second class service if you are not clearly part of that demographic. It feels very unwelcoming. Finally, the wait for a simple pepperoni was 35 minutes! Would not recommend.
Eric Z — Google review
When my husband booked this location I thought Wow thats expensive. He didn't tell me about the cost because he knows I wouldn't have said yes to spending that much a night. Im more frugal lol OK that being said, this hotel is amazing in every way. I was worried I wasn't fancy enough but the staff wasn't fake nice they were genuine and kind and interesting. This is important to me . The historical beauty was stunning. The lawn and the view! The easy access to the beach and the cliff walk was perfect. The food was delicious! I couldn't say more!
Renee G — Google review
We stayed back in May and could not have asked for a better stay. The staff is amazing, we absolutely loved our room, the drinks and breakfast were so so good! The cliff walk is just outside the door! We were between here and other top hotels in the area for our stay and I am so glad we chose here.
Abigail G — Google review
Stunning restaurant but when you pay $60 for two glasses of wine , plus the and $8 for a club soda, not including the tip ...you feel a little taken. Especially when they tell you you can't sit on the lawn chairs, even when they are two thirds empty. Bad policy for paying customers. Who charges $8 for club soda for the DD? I mean, come on! Disappointing.
Theresa K — Google review
Exceeded our expectations!! The service was absolutely incredible, the room was beautiful with a bathtub overlooking the beach. The staff are more accommodating and friendly - shout out to Paige and Jake. Absolutely recommend.
Anthony C — Google review
We tried the wine garden/lawn for the first time this summer. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We waited 30+ minutes for service to the lawn chairs and were told we could not go to the bar to get our drinks and had to wait on the lawn. We wanted to order pizza but they said it would be over an hour. We ordered a very sad, expensive cheese board that was $35. We were then rushed out and told that they were closing early. Overall it was not the best experience.

Nestled in the heart of Newport, Club Wyndham Long Wharf is a delightful family-friendly resort that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. With spacious suites equipped with full kitchens, guests can enjoy the convenience of preparing meals while feeling right at home. The resort features two inviting pools, a well-equipped gym, and even a movie theater for those cozy nights in.
My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids under 5) stayed at Club Wyndham Long Wharf just over a week ago and we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect with it being just a short walk from so many shops, restaurants, the wharfs and a little park with stunning views. There is free parking onsite for guests. The indoor/outdoor heated pool was a fun experience. I appreciate that they have wheelchair lifts for both the pool and hot tub, my sister is in a wheelchair and even though she wasn’t on this trip with us, knowing we could bring her there and she could enjoy the pool/hot tub is amazing. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The pack and play that we were brought for our younger child was very clean. The room/kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed using the grills outdoors a couple times. I will say the only thing was the couch was quite uncomfortable to sit on… but it wasn’t a big deal to us. Anything we needed or questions we had while we were there were answered promptly via a text service with the front desk. I appreciated that the laundry room was free, but it only had one working dryer. Thankfully we chose a day there weren’t many people doing laundry. Overall, our stay was great! We would absolutely stay here again.

The best pools in a hotel!!! Well maintained, first pool was around 80’s and there is a second indoor outdoor pool connected and heated up to 90’s! Free laundry!!! Including soaps!!! Great location, and great bed!!! Second bedroom have 2 twin bed, which is a must for us. Highly recommend!

Came with my wife on 11-4-25....Was greeted by Diego, Jay and Brianna. They were all very nice and helpful! Such good energy, especially Jay. Great employee, definitely cares about people receiving the most of everything the Wyndham has to offer! Him and Diego very professionally, very immaculately and very enthusiastically(but not too much!) engaged us in possible further membership and benefits. To no fault of anyone else, my wife and I declined to pursue any of what was mentioned in the pitch. Regardless, they were very kind and informative. To any management that sees this review, please don't let these guys go. Keep them on staff by any means possible! They are made for this type of thing. I can tell. On another note: I'm extremely disappointed that the Newport location got rid of the sauna for some inexplicable reason, in addition to some other changes. Common guys, you shouldn't be getting rid of awesome things like that! That's why people like you. Keep that in mind 😉

I was contacted the day before our arrival by a third party with a message saying we had to be relocated. I called Extra Holidays, who I booked with directly and was told owns the hotel, and was told the reservation was confirmed. On arrival the next evening, the front desk told me they overbooked, they are a time-share and rentals are cancelled first when they overbook. We were given a phone number and told there was nothing they could do for me, I had to call the number and sort out the relocation on my own. We had a 2-bedroom suite reservation for our family of 6 and we were told that was not available nearby anywhere. I then spent the next hour on the phone, most of it on hold, trying to find another last minute location for us to stay. There were extra charges I had to deal with because this third party booked the relocation rooms through Expedia instead of directly with the hotel and extra stress that lasted for several days into our vacation. Needless to say I do not recommend booking here, it was a huge fiasco on our first day of vacation!
Nicole R — Google review
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone planning an important trip. Our friends booked our group’s reservation seven months in advance. The day before we were due to arrive, the hotel canceled the booking without notifying us. When we showed up, we were told we had been ‘relocated’—but staff refused to tell us where, and they would not issue a refund. This left our entire group stranded, scrambling to find last-minute accommodations so we didn’t have to cancel the trip. The staff were dismissive and condescending toward the bride, showing no concern for the impact on our event. Customer service throughout the experience was unhelpful and unprofessional. If you value communication, reliability, and basic hospitality, I strongly suggest booking elsewhere.
Hannah W — Google review
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!! We are traumatized. We booked this hotel (2 suites) 6 months in advance and when we arrived to check in we were told it was “oversold” and to call a number to get us relocated. NEWSFLASH! It’s Newport in the Summer!!!! All hotels were booked and we were stranded for an hour before finding the last airbnb in the town available. The customer service was so rude and disrespectful and couldn’t have cared less that a group of 8 of us had no where to go. Apparently this is a normal occurrence with this hotel so if I were you I would check somewhere else
Megan B — Google review
Location is great. Close enough to everything, but out of the way to not be in the middle. But rooms are old and dated. Building we were in was loud with little noise insulation. Furniture from the 80s and in that condition. Carpet should have been replaced a decade ago. Master bed did not have a dresser. Just a closet. No drawers anywhere. Bathrooms were old. Shower curtain was stained. We were in a two bedroom suite which was anything but a suite. It was in the Touse House building which was not town houses. Avoid that building! Amenities were nice, but packed and noisy. Kitchenette was ok, but again old. The furniture was uncomfortable. Just extremely disappointing. We are usually very forgiving and flexible, but this, for the money, was just bad. 2 stars might be generous, but the people were nice and helpful.
Jon S — Google review
Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We booked two suites for 12 people six months in advance for a bachelorette party. A week before check-in, we got a confirmation text. After driving 6 hours, we arrived to be told our reservation was cancelled due to overbooking. No apology, just a number on a Post-it to call. When we asked for help with the relocation, they said we weren’t their guests and refused to assist.Word of advice: If you’re unable or unwilling to assist guests who book through Expedia, then you shouldn’t list your hotel there. We didn’t book with “Hotel Expedia”we booked a stay at Club Wyndham, and that’s who we expected to provide service. We were put on hold for 15+ minutes and then hung up on multiple times. The manager, Omyra, was incredibly rude and refused to help. Total disaster. Stay far away from this place.

Paws on Pelham is a refined B&B located in Newport, offering elegant rooms, suites, and an apartment with a kitchen. Conveniently situated near shopping, dining, and the waterfront, this dog-friendly inn features 13 guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms and king or queen beds for humans along with whimsical dog beds for pets. The former Newport Blues Inn has been transformed into Paws on Pelham as part of the Vacation Newport collection.
Paws on Pelham is the perfect place to stay in Newport! It’s as if the inn is made for dogs and humans can stay there as well. All of the dog owners were respectful of others, dogs well trained and the inn was absolutely immaculate without being sterile. A lot of thought was put into the decor, the dog wallpaper while discreet was absolutely adorable. The Adirondack chairs, bright red and perfect for a dog friendly inn, the signage shaped like dog bones, the wonderful canine prints in the rooms , it all works without being kitsch. The dog beds were a great feature and the rooms were the perfect size and very comfortable. Housekeeping was amazing in keeping everything so clean…literally not a stray dog hair in sight! The breakfast was simple and very, very well prepared. They did not cut any corners on it as a cost saving measure. I highly recommend Paws on Pelham and I look forward to returning.

We loved our stay at Paws on Pelham in Newport RI!! It was our first pet-friendly stay ever and we loved it. We usually travel alone and get a dog sitter — but this time we took a chance and WHAT A GREAT DECISION!! Lisa at the front desk was so hospitable - got us situated and comfortable immediately and made us the best egg sandwiches on our departure. Our little pooch loved it the whole time. We will definitely be back !!

Perfect little inn for pets and their parents. We only stayed one night. We came in late, check-in was super simple and seamless for a contactless check-in. Only one complaint, we didn’t have access to a refrigerator for our dog’s food so we had to put fresh ice in the cooler for the night. Not a huge deal but a mini-fridge would have made that work better. Love the little touches for the pets, from the dog bowls to the dog beds. Bed was comfy and room was comfortable.

We recently stayed at this charming dog-friendly inn and had a truly wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the innkeeper, Kathi, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and shared excellent local recommendations that helped us make the most of our visit. The inn itself is spotless and cozy — a true home away from home. Our room was comfortable, and we were especially grateful for how accommodating the place was for our dog. It’s clear that pets are genuinely welcomed here! Breakfast each morning was delicious and always freshly made. Whether you're traveling with a pet or not, I would absolutely recommend staying here. It exceeded all of our expectations, and we can’t wait to return!

Warm and friendly Inn that really caters to your pet. The location is close to the main part of town and a very nice park for dog walking. I was in room 7, which I would recommend. It had a comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and fluffy towels. The rooms are lacking a tiny refrigerator, though. Breakfast was fine, and we even enjoyed it on the roof deck. My room was spotless, and the staff were all accommodating and friendly. There are a lot of stairs at the Inn, so if mobility is an issue for you, be sure to book something on the first floor.

I was thoroughly impressed with my experience at Paws on Pelham. The hotel was exceptionally comfortable, clean with every corner spotless and well-maintained. It’s also incredibly pet-friendly, making it the perfect spot for travelers with furry companions. My dogs felt right at home, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. The breakfast was another highlight. There was a fantastic variety of fresh options, hot sandwich, and the coffee machine was just perfect. It was a great way to start the day! Overall, Paws on Pelham is a wonderful choice for anyone looking for a clean, pet-friendly place with a great breakfast to kick off their vacation. Highly recommended!

Best place, ticked off all the boxes. there were plenty of towels, hangers in the closet, an ironing board and iron. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean. In the shower there was full-size shampoo and conditioner and full size body wash.I have never been in a hotel room where I got more than a teeny bar of soap and some very off small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. They had a breakfast brunch that was very nice: they had a young lady making scrambled eggs or fried eggs, a ham and fried egg sandwich everything was fresh. There was fresh fruit, yummy muffins, hash browns, hot coffee and hot chocolate I couldn't have asked for anything more. It was lovely. Oh, they had the most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on I wanted to take them home with me, but I left them for the next customer.

We are just checking out after spending multiple nights here. What a charming hotel. The staff are wonderful and very accommodating. Our room was spacious, well-decorated and the shower was to die for. Breakfast is complimentary and it is a feast. We’ve been on the road for 2 weeks and haven’t seen anything to compare. What a spread! There is no elevator but we didn’t mind a bit because of all the other amenities. Stay here!

It's the cutest little Inn and it's in a perfect location. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! They put out the cutest spread of cookies, fruits and snacks for afternoon tea and they have a wonderful breakfast with a variety of cut up fresh fruits, eggs, sausage, bacon and do much more! (All included!) Parking is right across the adorable cobblestone street and with the parking app it was only $20 for 24 hours. I will definitely stay here again!

Can’t say enough positive things about this inn! Great location. Comfortable, clean lodgings. Very quaint. But more than anything, stellar staff. We were going to be checking in late anyway due to a late night flight, but that flight ended up getting delayed 3.5 hours, bringing our check-in time to 4am. I was in constant communication with them and they made it so we were able to check in at that late (early?) hour. Went completely above and beyond. We’ll certainly be staying here again next time we’re in Newport! Highly recommend.

Clean and well maintained rooms, friendly service and great breakfast. Quaint and charming hotel. Only downside is no lift, so carry your bags up several flights of stairs. Also wood floors so a bit of squeaky floor boards and noise from rooms above. Still loved our stay.

Obsessed with it here. It was SOOO nice. I came here for my birthday and every part of it was So special. They even gave me a tiny birthday treat when I checked in! The breakfast is a small extra charge but was the most amazing hotel spread I’ve ever seen. Plain stuff but SO much variety in options. They even had gluten free options for stuff. Great room with very heavy curtains so we never heard anything from outside. I also never heard anyone in their rooms, only in the hallways which are very short and have a door at the end so it keeps the noise down significantly. I highly recommend it here. It was so cute and comfortable and I loved my time here.

Lovely Inn right in the heart of Newport. Right next to an Irish Pub and a cobblestone street full of shops. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean! Despite the quaint vibe of the furnishings, the bathrooms were very modern and beds were very cozy. We wished we could stay longer. They had tea and snacks in the dining room in the afternoon and a lovely breakfast spread in the morning.

Lovely breakfast but I really hope that the owner/manager does not treat his employees the way he treats his guests. The cleaning staff does a great job but don’t expect things in your room to be maintained or fixed by management, or for safety concerns to be addressed unless you are extremely persistent.

Nestled in Newport, Rhode Island, The Cliffside Inn is a luxurious Victorian mansion offering an elegant stay. With its unique decor and antique furnishings, this historic home provides a romantic retreat for guests. Located just minutes away from Eastons Beach and the Cliff Walk, it offers easy access to Newport's attractions. Guests can indulge in a delightful continental breakfast and afternoon tea while enjoying the cozy outdoor terrace.
My husband and I stayed at the Cliffside Inn in January for an overnight. We stayed in the suite which was a separate building that was very clean and nicely decorated. There were lovely antique furniture and a gas fireplace. When we checked in they had little snacks and tea/coffee available. The main building and decor felt very classic and old world. We would definitely stay here again. I will also add that the service was top notch. I had forgotten my lobster pasta dinner leftovers in the fridge when we left and the staff were so kind to let us back in!

The hotel is amazing! It sits perfectly at the intersection of a luxury boutique hotel with a laid back vibe. There is a nightly cocktail hour complete with your choice of white or red wine. The lark breakfast is delicious and provides just enough variety so you are not overwhelmed by choices, and the ample supply of chocolate chip cookies and tea on demand have my whole heart. The staff is friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning soon.

I recently stayed at the Cliffside Inn in Newport and, unfortunately, my experience was far from the charming boutique escape I was hoping for. First of all, there was no cliff view, but it is a short walking distance, which is really nice. My room was wallpapered in zebra print, a strange style that way different from the elegant aesthetic portrayed online. The room itself was very small, cramped, and very different from the boutique hotels I stayed at before. I do enjoy the warm and welcoming hospitality of the concierge but was hoping for some healthy hot breakfast choices. Unless you love dark zebra pattens, it is overpriced for the quality and size of the room. P.S. I paid about $900/night (non-holiday). I stayed at the Swann room. I hope there are nicer rooms as shown on its website. Good luck!

Spend your money elsewhere and definitely do not celebrate a special occasion here. When we were there in 2022 to celebrate our engagement the husband and wife who manage the inn did absolutely nothing to make the experience celebratory or nice for us. Not a note, not a bottle, not a glass of wine. When we reminded the owner that we had just gotten engaged he said “oh.” We were there for multiple nights and the experience was overpriced and not special. We regret choosing to stay here. We paid exorbitant August prices and the owners could not have cared less about us.

We went for a weekend and stayed in the sunroom on the second floor. We enjoyed water views from our window and the gas fireplace inside. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed - it even had some sort of steam function which converted the large shower into a steam room. Location is closest to the Cliff side walk, where we walked for about 15 minutes to the Breakers. I was told it's about a 20-30 min walk to Bowman's Wharf, but I did not try it. Staff was very nice and we enjoyed the daily wine hour (5-6 pm) and the morning breakfast. We will go back again and would recommend it.

We had a great time at The Cliffside Inn. The hotel is very aesthetic and cozy. Great location to the cliff side walk. Team is nice and welcoming. Wine hour is amazing. Two things that could be improved : the weekend we were there they were doing renovation around the house and it waked us up before 8am, and the breakfast buffet could be more diversified between days. Food was good and healthy but felt a little bit plain

Recently stayed off season at this wonderful Inn St. Patrick’s day weekend. Wonderful experience and friendly and helpful inn keepers. Katey was amazing. The morning breakfast buffet was tasty and eclectic. The Lark suite was so inviting and comfortable. Great relaxing at this centrally located spot. I would totally stay here again! An absolute must if visiting the mansions in the area.

This Bed and Breakfast is so so charming. My husband and I spent are honeymoon here. The service was amazing and we really enjoyed the homemade breakfast every morning. It’s only a couple blocks away from the cliff walk which super convenient. I look forward to staying here in the future. Highly recommend anyone visiting Newport, RI to stay here!

Jailhouse Inn in Newport is a unique boutique hotel that was once an 18th-century jailhouse and police station. This cool inn showcases its storied past through features like iron cell doors and an Inmate Rules sheet at check-in. It's conveniently situated just one block away from Thames Street and near the Newport Harbor Ferry. Additionally, Ivy Lodge, another hotel in south/central Newport close to The Breakers mansion, also offers free parking.
We just needed a 1 night stay for a funeral in town. We found this place which is centrally located in the old town walk-able area. Having it's own parking and decent wifi was helpful and the cookies available in the afternoon/evening were quite yummy (Coffee always available). I love the giant metal bar doors still there from the jail. Overall, it was very comfortable-cozy room, great pillows and bed, clean, good shower, a/c etc. We walked to dinner nearby. Breakfast was a lovely "continental" breakfast with a good amount of choices: various breads/rolls including croissants, English muffins, pumpkin bread, raisin bread, French toast bread, and more with various toppings-2 types of sliced cheese and ham, butter, syrup, cream cheese, hot sauce. There were cereals-oatmeal and granola, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, and a variety of fresh fruits. Of course-also coffee, tea, fresh juice, water. I probably missed something, but we were clearly impressed and happy. Wish we'd stayed long enough to enjoy the outdoor seating. We'll definitely return when we can enjoy a slightly longer stay.

We stayed one night in May. We had an early arrival and were able to park in the lot while we walked to the newly re-opened International Tennis Hall of Fame. When we returned we were able to get our key and enter our room. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everyone was very gracious. We walked to The Moring for dinner. It was excellent! Breakfast the next morning was just what we needed prior to getting on the road home. We will definitely return.

Nicely done B&B in the former jailhouse for Newport. Conveniently located just blocks from downtown and the waterfront. Plenty to see and do nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and freshly baked cookies and fruit in the afternoon were quite welcome.

We were just there last week for one night. We were initially greeted by a gentleman at check-in who was extremely pleasant and provided assistance with locally owned eateries and the free trolley (which was extremely convenient). Hotel has an interesting history and the property is well maintained with a beautiful front porch where we enjoyed a cocktail chatting with other guests. Room was very impressive, clean and comfortable. Free parking was for sure an extra perk as well as the convenience a short walk to the beautiful downtown/waterfront. Free trolley stop within a couple minute walk. Continental breakfast was well put together with plenty of choice and several carafe's of coffee. Definitely hop on the $15 jump on jump off all day water taxi which has a wonderful tour of the waterfront (do not miss this). Anyway a wonderful trip, we look forward to staying again at the The Jail House Inn.

Loved the Jailhouse Inn! We would stay here again for sure. Staff were down to earth and friendly. Really, if I could give it a 4.8 I would due to the fact that two of our outlets didn't seem to work, and two of the ones that did work, our chargers were so loose from the outlet while plugged it would fall right out unless placed just-so. Also, the TV is far away from the beds and the sound was pretty bad.. however, we really didn't have time for TV anyway, but I know that's important to some people. Our stay was cozy, and the breakfast was fresh and so good! This is the perfect location to walk to pretty much all main attractions. Once I parked, I did not move my vehicle.

My brother and I went on a road trip through the northeast and this was by far our favorite place we stayed! The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was super easy to park on the property which was amazing because you can walk to just about anywhere downtown. Everyone I met was extremely nice and welcoming! I definitely recommend staying here and I plan to stay here again in the future!

The Marshall Slocum Inn is a delightful accommodation option in Newport, offering quaint rooms with complimentary breakfast and afternoon snacks. Set in a charming 1855 colonial home filled with antiques, this boutique hotel provides a special experience for guests. The five non-smoking rooms feature original hardwood floors, period furnishings, down comforters, bathrobes, air conditioning, and private bathrooms. Some rooms even boast fireplaces or jetted tubs for added luxury.
The inn is in a great location (about 8 mins walk from the town centre with bars/restaurants etc) and is situated in a lovely peaceful leafy neighbourhood. We arrived after dark and found the instructions for entering our room had been left out for us, which were nice and easy. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, clean, cosy, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. We felt that the hosts had thought of everything to create a nice experience for guests, and we would have loved to stay a bit longer. It was a nice start to our holiday through New England, and I highly recommend this beautiful inn!

A venerable gem in Newport We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Marshall Slocum Inn, and from the moment we arrived were struck by the inn’s historic character and timeless charm. Our room, The Snuggery, was impeccably clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated, reflecting the care and attention given to this thoughtfully and well-appointed property. The common areas, both indoors and out, are handsomely styled and inviting—perfect for relaxing with a book or music after a day of exploring. Breakfast was a delight, with delicious treats to start each morning, and the convenience of free parking was much appreciated. The inn is ideally located in a beautiful and pleasant neighborhood on Kay Street, which branches off Bellevue Avenue—home to many of Newport’s famed Gilded Age mansions. This makes it easy to enjoy everything the city has to offer: the beaches, the harbor, colonial history, dining, shopping, and, of course, the stunning mansions. At the same time, the inn itself provides plenty of comfort for guests to happily while away a few hours simply enjoying its warm and welcoming atmosphere. A special word of thanks to the innkeeper, Mark, who is helpful, affable, and engaging—truly an excellent host. We look forward to a future stay at the inn and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Newport.

The rooms were very stylishly furnished and very clean. Everything appeared very well-maintained. The location is excellent. For the price, we would have expected more for breakfast. The breakfast is very simple. The breakfast photos on Google Maps are not up-to-date. Breakfast consists only of freshly baked pastries. It's not worth waiting for in the morning. The friendly staff, as other guests have written, was never to be seen. You were somehow alone from the afternoon onwards. Nevertheless, the stay was pleasant, which is also due to the beautiful Newport.
Barbara M — Google review
When we arrived, travel weary, Dana’s gracious welcome instantly put us at ease. The coffee/tea, the croissants, and the assortment of pastry every morning was a delightful start to our day. And the small but significant courtesies, like the complimentary jellied candy nook provided a tasty temptation in the evenings. Our bed was comfortable. Our room and bath were nicely decorated, clean, and well equipped with everything we would need. We were pleasantly surprised that The Marshall Slocum Inn was so ideally situated, and within a short walk of one of Newport’s main streets, affording us the opportunity to take the free Newport trolley to the mansions and other attractions. And with a bit more effort, we were able to walk to the shops and restaurants in Thames Street. The Marshall Slocum House is located on a quiet street, which we thoroughly appreciated after a full day of exploring. We’d highly recommend the Marshall Slocum Inn. It helped to make our trip to Newport truly lovely.

Staff and rooms were excellent. Extremely knowledgeable of the local area and provided maps/brochures for Newport. They even mark up the papers and circle their recommendations. The rooms were clean and tidy. My favorite part of my room was a menu that had all of their local spots with notations about the service at that place. Excellent advice. The location is a little bit of a walk to Bowens wharf (15-20 minutes) however, the street of the inn is quiet, near some good bars, and there is spacious parking behind the inn. My wife and I definitely plan on staying here again.

Stayed here for our 1 night getaway to Newport. We stayed in the Cottage room and it was nicely private, clean and spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were are very pleasant and hospitable. The location makes you feel like you’re a local as it is on a residential street just outside the downtown area, but everything is ~10minute walking distance. The house itself is more modern and renovated than the typical inns in the area, but still gives you that New England character. Would love to come back and stay here again for a longer trip.

The Inn on Bellevue is a charming guesthouse located in the heart of Newport, housed in an 1891 home. The individually styled rooms offer a cozy and comfortable stay, with some featuring deluxe amenities like jacuzzi baths and kitchenettes. The inn's convenient location allows for easy access to various attractions such as the Touro Synagogue, Newport Tower, Redwood Subscription Library and Athenaeum, and Kingscote House Museum.
Great property to stay at as it’s ideally located and beautiful old home. Great breakfast included and 5 minute walk to all the wharfs! I highly recommend a stay here. It’s an old building so keep that in mind when booking. While it’s not perfect it’s cute and a great value

Quaint. Great location on Bellevue Avenue. Walking distance to waterfront with a free trolley stop on the corner. Kim at the front desk was the best ! Helpful and accommodating. Nice pastry shop attached to the lobby and free breakfast up the street at the Bellevue Manor was included. That being said and understanding that this home was built in the 1800's, some updates would be helpful for a more comfortable stay. The room was very small and difficult to relax in. Only room for one person to move around at a time. Bed was creaked with every toss and turn. There was no place to put our things, not enough outlets for charging phones and wifi service did not reach to the third floor. You could hear the upstairs neighbors (who sounded like they were moving furniture). There was a large space between the door and door jamb, causing light and sound to filter through. Although the bathroom was updated, the light switch was on the outside of the bathroom, which can be an issue if you need to use the bathroom during the night and don't want to wake your roommate. Water pressure was low. Very little lobby space and NO ELEVATOR!!!

We originally were booked at another bnb that must have overbooked themselves so we were sent to the inn on Bellevue. We are so happy this happened. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were a decent size - we had a queen bed plus there was a daybed in our room as well. The cherry on top was the ease and availability of parking. The area is very walkable as well so we were able to park our car and not worry about it while we explored the city. We’ll definitely be back!

European style inn that we have had the pleasure of staying at many many times. Rooms very comfortable. Location is fabulous – you park and walk everywhere all week. Parking excellent; complementary breakfast is delicious - egg and vegetable frittata, breakfast meat, fruit, yogurt, pastries, French toast/pancakes, cereal, coffee juice every morning! Outdoor terrace if you want al fresco breakfast or indoor with AC is charming dining area. Highly recommend!

Decent spot to stay. Rooms are outdated but the bathroom is newly renovated. Walls and doors are thin, can hear everything in the room next door and in the hallway. The service was very good. Everyone was accommodating. The location is phenomenal. Everything is within walking distance. We barely used the car. Overall the place did the job.

During my brief stay at The Bellevue Manor, I ventured into the reception area and requested a staff member to show me the available rooms. Without hesitation, he provided me with a key and directed me towards a room on the first floor of Bellevue Manor. Initially, I had reservations due to negative reviews I had read about the establishment. However, upon entering the room, my concerns dissipated as it surpassed my expectations.
Overall a wonderful experience. The room was located just off the parking lot. Breakfast is very good compliments to the chef on the quiche

Fantastic location. But… 1. every. single. thing. creaks. Bed, floor, walls, doors, ceiling 2. Floor 1 is actually basement. You will open the door to your room in full view to people eating breakfast every day. Dont do it.

Great location, free parking and breakfast are a huge plus. Rooms are outdated, no lock on our bathroom door, our door lock from outside didnt work well and mattress and pillows can use a refresh, but overall a great stay for 4 for lowest price in center of town I found.

Super well located in the city. The rooms are large and well furnished ( with a large bath stub for 2 in the suite). It is not well isolated, so you can hear the street below and see the light in the night. Great breakfast

I stayed at this bed and breakfast for my birthday weekend. I was checked in by Kim at The Inn on Bellevue located on the corner since there isn't a check-in/check-out person in the hotel itself. Kim was very friendly and helpful with providing me with all the details I needed for my stay. My room was on the first floor, which was convenient, so I didn't have to drag my baggage too far from my car. The room itself is pretty small (including the shower) and somewhat outdated and where it needs some work, but overall, it is clean. The bed was comfortable, and they provided plenty of hot water to take a shower. They don't provide certain amenities, such as a coffee maker (there is one in the lobby), microwave, or telephone. Now for the "breakfast" part of the bed and breakfast. The breakfast is served at 8 am until I believe 10 am and it is located downstairs. They have standard breakfast items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, pastries, pancakes, and waffles that is served buffett style. From the cooked items I have gotten, everything was good, and the staff that waited on me was friendly. This hotel is in a good location, near a lot of shops and points of interest. Also, a major plus is that they provide free parking for all guests. In closing, I really enjoyed my stay and would book a reservation here again in the future.

We stayed one night, I wandered in and ask a receptionist to show me available rooms, he gave me a key and told to go to Bellevue Manor to a room on a first floor, after reading some negatives review I was very hesitant and didn't expect much, but the room was great, the bathroom is spacious and clean, the bed is comfortable and again the room is nicely decorated and clean. Our room was next to a staircase and it was very quiet. In the morning we went downstairs, where hot breakfast was served - egg dish, pancakes, fruit, etc. Overal, very pleased with the hotel and will be returning. Plus they have a large parking space in the back.

Stayed here for a weekend with my husband and it was above and beyond expectations, from the service to cleanliness to atmosphere. Dog friendly which is super important to us, and we decided to stay an additional night, last minute, and the concierge was SO accommodating and fit us in without a problem. In fact; our room the third night was even more beautiful. We stayed two nights in the Bellevue Manor in the back near the garden (room 116) and in Bellevue Manor front house in room 110, and both were absolutely perfect. Zero complaints and would highly recommend to anyone; especially those traveling with a pup!
Danielle C — Google review
I was looking for something different. Rooms are small, walls are very thin, feels like you are at a Hostel vs. a B & B. You can hear the occupants next to you and they aren't even particularly loud. Breakfast came in a Styrofoam package. With simple upgrades, could be charming, instead, was a very mediocre experience.

The property offers a picnic area, sauna, and proximity to attractions like Rosecliff Historic House Museum and International Tennis Hall of Fame. Guests praise the accessible and helpful host, Noreen, as well as the clean and spacious garden room with a kitchenette.
We had a lovely weekend staying at the Murray House. We stayed in the garden room and it was spacious and clean with closet space, a small kitchen stocked with snacks, and a large bathroom. The decorations added some personality as well! The room was cozy and very comfortable and we enjoyed using the very private garden right outside our room. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked beautiful and clean. About a 5-10 minute drive to the bustling part of Newport but the neighborhood itself was safe, quiet, and convenient. Noreen was also very clear with her directions for entry even though we arrived after dark. I would definitely recommend staying at the Murray House if ever visiting Newport!

We were greeted by Noreen, she is super nice and hilarious!!! She’s very accommodating! We were just out of season so I’m sad to say we didn’t get to try her lovely breakfast. Of course our room rate reflected that also! So Noreen did offer some great breakfast places, along with some nice touches in our room! Breakfast burritos, strawberry with cream filled croissants, snacks and some fresh fruit in our fridge. There is also everything you need to make coffee, tea etc… and cook if you wish too! The room was cozy, quiet and comfortable! Which we truly appreciated after a long day of running around! The location is Terrific!! Very close to the mansions, cliff walk and downtown was only a few minutes away! We would definitely stay here again if we get the chance to come back! Thanks again so much Noreen!!!! Hawthorne House of Newport is a charming B&B located in a family neighborhood, offering a private three-room suite that provides the comfort and convenience of home. Guests can enjoy a well-stocked kitchenette with breakfast items, pastries, and snacks. The accommodations are dog-friendly and perfect for families, with thoughtful touches such as homemade banana bread and sleds for winter fun.
This is the most amazing place to stay for our visit to my home town Newport. I am a "5th Warder" as are Terri & Mike, who lived across the street from me when we were kids. Their hospitality, warmth and kindness went beyond anything I expected. Our accommodations were impeccable, beautifully decorated and supplied with everything needed for a wonderful stay in Newport. The location was perfect for going to "the Goose" [Gooseberry Beach] and for seeing all the sights that Newport has to offer. This will always be my first choice when going "back home".

5 stars all around! Mike and Terri (hosts of Hawthorne House of Newport) truly go above and beyond to ensure a wonderful stay in Newport. My family (partner and 2 young kids) have been visiting each summer for the past several years and will continue to do so. My fiancé, dog, and I stayed at Hawthorne House for a quick two-night getaway from NYC. We wanted a quiet place where we could relax but was also close to the Newport attractions. Hawthorne House was just that. It was such a lovely place to stay and Terri and Mike were so great, extremely accommodating, so friendly. They allowed us to bring our big (sometimes well-behaved) dog and they have a very large backyard with a park across the street. They had stocked the kitchen with a variety of cereal, milk, OJ, water bottles, English muffins, cookies, etc. The home is about a mile from downtown so with good weather, you could easily walk. We did the Cliff Walk, which Mike recommended and it was not far from the house at all. We had such a great stay, we’ll be back again for sure! -Darcy & Chris

A perfect family in state escape! We went for a weekend with our 6 year old son and accommodations were perfect! The owners thought of everything from the milk for our cereal, homemade banana bread, to even a sled with directions to the best hills! The location was perfect with easy access to so many restaurants and the mansions were right around the corner. The set up was perfect for a COVID vacation, a small entry way gave us plenty of separation and distance and no lobby or other guests to worry about. We will definitely be back!

We highly recommend!!! This was the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Hawthorne House. We originally found the Hawthorne House through VRBO and stayed for a week last July with our small dog. We also stayed there last weekend for 3 nights. Terri and Mike are the most gracious of hosts and provide everything that you would expect and more from a B&B. From freshly baked banana bread & cookies to fresh fruit, cereals, english muffins, coffee, tea, bottled water, milk, OJ, iced tea and dog treats. The accommodations are an in-law suite in their home with a private entrance with a full bedroom, full bathroom, living/dining area with kitchenette and a private area of the back deck with a grill. There is also a beautiful large back yard. The place is immaculate with fluffy towels that are changed daily. You couldn't ask for nicer hosts. You can visit with them if you like or keep to yourselves. We plan to go back again soon!

I found the Hawthorne House through an internet search for dog friendly accommodations in Newport, RI. This is a top notch place to stay. You have your own little apartment and the hosts Mike and Terri stock the kitchenette with breakfast items including assorted cereals, english muffins, milk, OJ, water, fresh fruit and a plate of cookies on the table. Each day a pastry cake appeared and we discovered a plate of cheese and crackers with pepperoni on the table when we got back from one of our mansion tours. Also some treats for our dog. These people are some of the most hospitable and nicest people that we have ever come across in our travels. After a couple of hours you feel like you've known them for a long time. I have ranted about how great the hosts are and I forgot to mention what a beautiful place it is. It's a beautifully renovated suite with a big deck, a grill and a huge back yard to use. We are so glad that we found the Hawthorne House and will definitely be booking them again on our next trip to Newport.

Mike and Terri are great hosts and really go above and beyond. All the nice touches are there, treats for the kids, stocking the fridge with staples, homemade banana bread for all!! This is much less a simple rental and more a home where you are a welcome guest. 10/10 would stay again.

The owners are amazing! Very friendly and accommodating. They made us feel right at home even in this crazy time of Covid 19. Beautiful amenities. We live right here in Rhode Island and will definitely be coming back to stay for our next Newport getaway.
