Had a great meal here with family. Fairly large table and we were well looked after. Food was decent quality and a really fair price. Will definitely be back soon

We had christmas dinner but they shut the kitchen despite me pre-booking the menu and telling that we will becoming after work at 8pm. Hence that was a bit disappointing but the food was wonderful. Extremely tasty starters and good experience overall.

You can tell the kitchen takes great pride in what they serve. What really stood out, though, was the impeccable service. Stuart and the entire team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Stuart was especially attentive, friendly, and professional—he struck the perfect balance of being helpful without being overbearing. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our visit even more enjoyable. Whether you’re looking for a special night out or a relaxed meal with excellent food and service, The Fat Olive is a fantastic choice. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

Felt really welcomed on entering the restaurant, staff were lovely and attentive. We were seated and asked for drinks and they were brought promptly. We ordered the lamb rump and the pork three ways, no starters as I noticed they offered a cheese board for dessert! Food was amazing so was the service. Highly recommend.

I tried the porn star martini and it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time—balanced, creative, and delicious. To finish, dessert was a revelation. This restaurant is a gem—ideal for date nights, celebrations, or just treating yourself to a memorable meal. I’ll absolutely be returning, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Upon our arrival, we were initially uncertain about the establishment. Yet, the moment we entered, we were welcomed by a delightful host and an enchanting ambiance. The venue captivated us with its beauty, and the staff’s exceptional service was truly remarkable. The extensive menu offered a diverse selection of culinary delights. From the beverages to the appetizers, and all the way through to our entrees and desserts, each dish was exquisitely tantalizing! I wholeheartedly endorse this dining experience.

The fat olive has a lovely atmosphere, Stuart is very attentive and friendly!! The food is delicious I had a Sunday roast and the mash was very tasty!! The brownie for dessert was so good!!! I will definitely be back soon and I would highly recommend!!

Amazing food Great quality and and ok tasty

Moved to wigan from Canada. Was missing family and wanted some good curry. Mr amir came to serve me. Asked him to make me something that would feel like home cooked. Mr amir and the chef understood the assignment and made a very delicious lamb curry. It was good for 2 people, but the taste and reminder of home made me end up devouring the whole plate 😂

The food is absolutely mouthwateringly delicious!!! However the staff is more interested in watching Football on the TV than making sure if you need anything. We are still going back because of the food. Best authentic Indian food in Wigan.

From the moment we walked in till we left everybody was so pleasant, when walking out there must have been 6 staff that said have a good night. Needless to say the service was spot on, never rushed and well looked after. Now the food, yes this didn’t let them down either. Two starters and two mains great quality good portions at reasonable prices, nice ambiance and decor.

Best ever garlic bread and dessert i ever had in an Italian restaurant. Also loved the penne Franco. Large sitting area hence Definitely visiting again.

Brilliant food. There were 12 in our party, all the food came out hot at the same time across all 3 course, with just the right amount of down time between course. Well done to the chef and the servers. Would highly recommend.

I don't even know how I'm supposed to review this place, stopped in the Premier inn next door ridiculous amounts of times for work and never had a problem. Eaten in the restaurant in the past always just average for the price, but what do you expect from a brewers fayre, you pay for what you get. But, just but they have clearly changed the menu and decided to remove the chefs from the kitchen ( not proper chefs we know but hey ho) and replaced them by, I don't even know what but I wouldn't even call them microwave pushers because what I've just had I can't call food, I can't call it food because there is not actually food there. The so called wings didn't even have meat on. It was just bone coated in sauce. The pizza well photos say it all. You can actually buy better pizzas from Iceland for less than £2 and stick it in the microwave for 4 mins and this whole meal cost me just shy of £20. WOW JUST WOW

Can only give one star unfortunately, I would not recommend going here, had burger and chips , tiny burger like a child’s meal, burnt chips, asked for a bottle of tomato sauce she obliged by bring a empty bottle over and leaving it on the table. The table we sat on resembled a school desk from the 1990s, It used to be really nice here going back 20 years, sadly standards have fallen through the floor. Was going to have dessert but after the lunch we just had, thought it was better to pass and move on. Crusty food particles on the table too, not pleasant.

ordered some bits from the cheaper menu with extras didn't get full orders,thing were missing or halved in number. Food wasn't that great. Areas near kids play area, are always reserved for people who dont turn up so closed off basically.

Really bad never again Member of staff shouting a one of the kids who was with us to sit down but let another kids run around plates left on table nearly 2 hours after eating and it looks like they have decorated for Halloween there are spiders webs everywhere collecting dust photo frames collecting dust and the bin outside was full.

Staff very helpful and friendly but they need training on current offers, pricing etc for meal deals so that they are consistent. Meal deal options should be to the max value allowed, regardless of internal policies, otherwise the companies paying are not getting full value for money as intended for their employees. Portions are generous, but cuisine could do with more flavour. The fish pie was the best of the pick. The 3 stars are for the staff and their welcoming attitude and willingness to help.

Food and staff great. However!!!!!! The place is filthy and the dust on the lights and the wood between tables where lamps and decoration looks like it has been there years its so thick. Prior to ordering food my sister put her jacket down on the chair and when she moved it it was full of curry sauce! I did send a message but had no response. Such a shame because the food was good and hot.

We went to Wheatlea for Christmas Dinner. The food was amazing and the service impeccable. We were served bucks fizz on arrival and given a Christmas card from the team. There were Christmas activity packs for the kids. The staff couldn't do enough for you. We had a great stress free Christmas day x

Lovely place this, somewhat of a hidden gem that's been there around 15 years. We went for mother's Day and enjoyed the set menu at £32 for three courses that was good value for what we got. The good was great and good sized portions, the staff were busy but in control. The roast dinners come highly recommended. As is the pate, we'll be back soon.

Just enjoyed a wonderful meal here to celebrate 1 week of being a married couple. Almost 11 years ago this was our first date and my now husband was so late I almost left 🤣. So pleased to report that we enjoyed a fantastic meal here tonight along with a lovely bottle of picpoul. Lovely ambience, excellent service and beautiful food for the price point. Lovely to have the chef come out personally to chat about our experience at the end of the meal. After a long hiatus we'll definitely be back! Fantastic xx

This little hidden gem is amazing, the food is exceptional and the staff can’t do enough for you. The menu is great not too big but enough choice which changes all the time, so you can always get something different every time you go. The steak was so tasty and cooked to perfection and the lamb I had on a previous visit was unbelievable.

Went in after we found the place, a little hidden away but worth the effort. It was after one o clock and nobody was in except staff, this is usually a bit worrying, but proved not to be the case here. We were seated quickly and a drinks order taken, given a menu and a specials board also fetched over. We didn't know what to choose as even though it wasn't a massive menu, it all sounded good. Not decrying the shorter menu at all, this is a sign they want to do a small amount of things well and this really is the case. We had a Christmas dinner and a beef bourguignon, both excellent, the veg was just right and so tasty, everything was delicious. The wine I had with this was a house tempranillo, went well with the beef, it was a very pleasant wine, wish I knew where to get some as there are so few reds I enjoy Dessert was also fantastic salted caramel profiteroles, could have eaten them again, and again, a Christmas pudding that was excellent too. A brilliant find, great staff, excellent food and a good wine list, will be back and also recommend to friends

Jayne was serving when we visited in March, so I am looking forward to returning when she’s in the kitchen. The food was great value, and the ambience was perfect. Food was a little unseasoned for my preference, but I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal.

Had a wonderful experience celebrating our daughter's 18 birthday party with extended family and friends at the Old Courts this weekend. Jo, Michelle and the team were all so obliging in helping us plan all the details in advance and make the event as special as we had hoped. Nothing was too much trouble. Guests kept commenting on how gorgeous the venue was and helpful and friendly the staff were. Especially enjoyed the additional quiet space of the judge's chambers and the lovely bar. Even the loos are nicely finished. Beautiful atmosphere- an unforgettable evening.

Held my 40th Birthday Party at the old courts last week. Everyone commented on how beautiful the venue was. It has real atmosphere. Michelle the host was super attentive and helped me sort out a bar tab for first drinks and a cocktail for the night. It was all very laid back and easy to deal with them - no drama. I was particularly pleased when they cut the cake into pieces for me - not a job I was looking forward to. The whole team were fab, friendly and helpful. It is so cheap to hire too! I’d definitely recommend.

Visited the old courts for an engagement party. Absolutely stunning building! Such a lovely venue. The staff, all of them were amazing. So friendly and welcoming and helpful, especially Michelle and the bouncer lady that was on the door and the lady that was cleaning up at the end, but I didn’t get their names. Service was efficient and the buffet area was great too. The lighting and the sound system was good. it has made me think that the next time I have a party that requires a function I will definitely book it myself! Great place , an asset to Wigan x

Absolute ball! Michelle R was amazing and so helpful. She spent the night making sure everything was going smoothly and blew our really difficult balloons up with no problem! Visited yesterday with some mates for a catch up. Had a few games of pool and darts with our pints. The girl behind the bar was called Sophie and she provided friendly and efficient service. Will definitely be back to try the food, it smelt amazing.

Tried this pub for the first time for a lunchtime catch up meal with a great mate. We were not disappointed. Great experience and the customer service was superb, especially a lady serving our table and sorting our bill whose name I did not get! Will definitely visit again.

Unsure if I got the wrong items but I've heard this restaurant is meant to be nice. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy my experience. Can't complain about the service, very friendly, attentive and managed to sit two of us down despite not booking. My garlic stuffed mushrooms were disappointing, they were dry, it wasn't like a cheese bake which I just thought it would come like as I know a few Italian restaurants do it like that. The bruschetta was said to be ok, but lacked oomph. The pizza again were ok but lacked that wow factor that makes them stand out from other Italians. I didn't enjoy my experience here but would like to give the restaurant a second chance and perhaps order dishes from the specials or recommend.

Service was very good but we did beat the rush it was getting quiet busy as we left so service may slow slightly at the busier times but that's to be expected there was more staff also arriving. Disappointed really. Iv been here 3 times. First 2 times absolutely fantastic couldn’t wait to return. But today was very poor… the quality of the food was alright no issues but wasn’t as tasty as previous occasions. Staff were polite but looked rather uninterested and unhappy. Not very attentive like previous occasions. The thing that topped it off for us was the fact that during the meal there was a birthday party next to us (not that it’s an issue in itself!) but there was a man saying VERY inappropriate words the restaurant could hear and just genuinely rude as well. You would expect the staff to step in and explain that it’s not okay. But not a batter of an eyelid. Not really impressed on spending just under £70 on this experience and if I do return I don’t think it’s going to be very soon. I really hope that this changes. Seen this place MUCH better in previous visits.

The Balcarres Arms An absolute gem. Been there today 1.30pm. 8 of us pre booked a table in the lovely Beer Garden We have all been up at crack o’ dawn to marshal on the 36th Annual Charity Bike Ride in aid of The Christie Hospital 2,000+ bike riders, raises an annual average of £30,000 So. Duty done Ravenous all …. Repair to the Balcarres pub for refreshment. We were not disappointed From excellent beers, wines, alcohol free- they’ve got it all , and at decent prices. Whether you want a lite bite, one course, starters and mains, they’ve got that all too. And. A Sunday lunch to make weekends worthwhile. I’ve included as many pictures as possible But, a 5 Star experience, everyone loved it. We’ll be back again next year, if not sooner than that Gets a 10 from Len. ( & me)

Popped in for tea at 7.30pm. Chef very kindly agreed to cooking a meal for us even though he'd already finished for the day. Lovely meal freshly prepared, well cooked, couldn't fault it. Very reasonably priced. Good old fashioned Lancashire pub, no frills but full of character. Hubby very pleased that as much as you want of condiments easily available, "not sauce in a little pot". Dog friendly. Would recommend and will visit again.

Great location near Haigh Hall. Reasonable selection of cask ales. I was intrigued by the pub's unusual name, and asked the bar staff about its origins. Disappointingly, they didn't know - which is a shame, because it's a fascinating story linked to the Earl of Balcarres, builder and designer of nearby Haigh Hall. But where did the money come from? I'll let you find out, but anybody working at this lovely pub should be required to know!

Staff are extremely polite, cheerful and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Food was lovely. Toilets clean and well equipped. Comfortable seating with a choice of benches or individual seats. Dogs welcome and water bowls provided. They also have a dog food and drinks menu. Only slight niggle was skimmed milk served with pot of tea and only in a tiny jug so had to ask for more. Would have preferred semi skimmed but only my personal taste so I haven't reduced the rating. Will definitely be going back.

We were made very welcome and you young man behind the bar was very attentive. He was knowledgeable about the drinks and was polite and friendly. The pub is nicely decorated and the outside area is lovely.

Went for Sunday roast, and being completely honest was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The pigs in blankets were raw inside, the veg had noticeably been pre-cooked left out and then warmed up, same for the beef which was stringy and grey. The roast potatoes were the only redeeming feature and they were Aunt Bessie’s so not even home made.

Dirty mattress Stayed here one night The pub was alright and staff friendly . Not a great location but I was here for business so suited me . The rooms on first impression were not bad Bathroom was fine ..clean and towels good and nice shower and bath . Nice tea /coffee area Water left in kettle which is a NO No also the kettle was dirty on the out side . Carpets were old and stained The mattress was awful and I asked to be moved as picture shows . I told the staff member who didn’t even offer to look but just offered me another room .. Which was slight better but still a stained mattress .. The mattress topper to protect the mattress was thin and worn .. I won’t be back as it was so dirty and felt I was lying on someone’s old pee stains and sick

Don't bother if you're hungry, we knew it would be busy and would probably have to wait but not for an hour then asking where our order of 2 muffins and a breakfast were, they'd forgotten it altogether. Can't blame the staff, they're trying their best, there's just never enough of them. Food was below average, bland and just a bit meh. I don't expect gourmet just a muffin I can actually chew. Only way I'd return here would be for a drink, surely that would be right. Note to owner/manager.... Hire more staff!

We visited for breakfast, which has up there with the best spoons breakfast, in our opinion! Arrive promptly, clearly freshly made, and of course, delicious. Friendly welcoming staff, comfortable and well maintained interior, lots of seating. Took us a minite to figure out where to park, car park to left of building, as local vicinity has parking restrictions.

Never had any issues here. Went tonight and started off nicely. Service is as normal.. we ordered food and drinks on the app, and our friends ordered x3 times for us, they got us some x2 pints, shots and some ice cream (thanks). There was only 2 of us. Every time they'd bring something over they'd slam it down whilst rolling their eyes. Specifically this young girl, quite tall, brown hair, pony tail. Didn't catch her name, but I've never felt so uncomfortable whilst being served in any establishment ive been too. Then I went to order some more food and drinks on the app (as friends arrived at this point to order stuff) and it no longer allowed us or them. Bit strange.. so I asked the same young girl and she said "it's been turned off" I said "all together or for this table?" She said "just this table, youre playing a game", I carried on conversating with her nicely as I am usually to anyone in customer service, and this girl just walks on off away from me, mid sentence. I just wanted to understand. So so rude, after all the eye rolling too... a simple answer would have sufficed, but the attitude just made me want to leave and never come back. Bare in mind, i never continued to order anything since the cut off after only 3 orders and that stonking interaction. It just made me not even want to. If it was such a problem, why not my question and tell me and I will understand and carry on ordering and giving you my money appropriately.. but the stinking attitude from the get go just made me want to run from there. And its such a shame as a local.. I can't say I've ever been anywhere where theres young girls with as much as a stonking attitude as this. Times are really changing.. Cause I'm quite positive and couldn't be more appreciative of service since being in the same industry, so i understand the service they get on the receiving end. But i gave them no reason, i will always smile at you.. but this has taken me a back. Don't think I'd feel comfortable going there again. That interaction was just plain ignorant and so uncalled for. Especially with the energy i was giving to them. I wish I caught her name.. Rolling your eyes at me like I'm some drunk whose ruined your cornflakes that same morning. I'm just stunned.... Other than that, we would have stayed longer, drinks were okay until they stopped after only 3 different orders, food okay. Service was absolutely nil. Proper ruined my mood

Airy and spacious. Plenty of natural light through the large windows. Beer was good and generally a nice clean Spoons. Plenty of indoor lighting from the numerous chandeliers.

The staff is very warm they welcomed us very well. Had a good laugh with them in the bar. Keep up the good hospitality

Enjoyed staying here - rooms a bit small and in need of upgrade but still all ok. Would definitely stay here again - is walkable from town centre if arriving by train as we did.

First time visiting, we had Sunday dinner which was absolutely gorgeous so can highly recommend the food. However the area just outside the back door at the top of the stairs was full of staff members smoking, so not pleasant to have to walk through when accessing the garden, we sat inside to eat and unfortunately because the back door was open to where these staff members were smoking the whole pub stank of cigarette smoke, or very nice when trying to enjoy a meal 😞

Went in for lunch today and was shocked by what we got served, salt and pepper chicken with no salt an pepper seasoning was very oily the batter had mostly fallen off. Scampi and chips had 5 pieces barley warm and chips not crispy at all. There was also 5 minutes between the dishes coming out. Would not come back unfortunately.

We were deeply disappointed by our experience at Crooke Hall Inn during the Beer & Boat Festival 2025. As local residents, my husband, our 2-year-old autistic son, and I were looking forward to spending the day enjoying lunch and drinks at the event. Upon arrival, we were stopped at the entrance and asked to show the contents of our baby changing bag—no problem there. I explained that we had packed a small sandwich for our son, who, like many toddlers with additional needs, can be very selective with food. My husband and I fully intended to purchase food from the festival stalls, which was the main reason we attended. However, we were told that outside food was strictly prohibited—even a simple sandwich in a child’s lunchbox. We were given the option to either dispose of it or leave it at the entrance. This meant our son would have nothing to eat while we dined, which we politely explained to the staff. Unfortunately, our concerns were met with dismissive and rude responses, including: “Well, it is a food place—what do you expect?” Frankly, we expected a more understanding and accommodating approach, especially for families with young children and additional needs. We had planned to spend well over £100 during our visit, and it’s disappointing that such inflexibility and poor customer service overshadowed what should have been a lovely day.

Good village pub on the canal. Lots of space, great for families, dog friendly and well priced real ales. Would recommend to others. Just returned for some food and was delighted with the service and food. Excellent value, and very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place.

We visited this week on Monday afternoon between 3-5pm to celebrate my nieces 21st birthday! We was staying away for the weekend nearby at the glamping pods & we found this place online! And it was easy to walk in and had plenty of tables The small plate menu was what attracted me to dine here and it did not disappoint! The food is absolutely unbelievable! We had to thank the chef and ask him to come out because everything was perfect! The service was phenomenal, a lady called Louise was our host and she was the most welcoming and friendliest lady! We all ordered different small plates and sides for a 5 person table and felt it’s best share! Portions was huge, and all the food came out at the same time! We even ordered extra tacos because they was too nice!! Beautiful restaurant & atmosphere! Amazing prices & quality!! 10/10 restaurants & bar! Parking was also easy in the area for a main road, as there is a pub over the road called The Stag which has a parking meter, and it’s fairly affordable! And we went to the pub first for a drink to register free parking! Thanks everyone we had the best celebration here!! X

Had a fantastic meal at Posthouse in Orrell recently. The ribs were genuinely some of the best I’ve had—perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and falling off the bone. You can tell they take care with the preparation. Pairing them with their freshly made mojitos was spot on—the drinks were balanced, refreshing, and not overloaded with sugar like you find in some places. The atmosphere was relaxed but stylish, and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. Overall, a great spot if you’re after quality food and drinks at reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be back.

Bailey was fantastic on Saturday night while collecting our glasses. He was polite, friendly, and really efficient at keeping the place tidy without ever getting in the way. It made such a difference to have someone so reliable and hardworking on the team — everything ran smoothly thanks to his effort. Would definitely recommend Bailey & Lohan Serving us our cocktails was also brilliant

Food is okay burgers are good but fries are tiny portion size, especially as your paying premium price. Visited at lunchtime and couldn't hear each other as music was so loud

I had booked a table last weekend for my 30th birthday, it was my first time ever going in posthouse and I'm not sure if I will come again. My friends was ringing me as I was leaving my house to tell me that they got to the posthouse and they was claiming there was no table booked under my name despite me ringing up twice 2 weeks before then a week before to confirm numbers for the table. This meant when we all got there there was no where for everyone to sit as it was busy aswell. When I spoke to someone who seemed like he was in charge he just allowed us to sit at the table they sat at for meantime knowing I said there was 7 people and when I looked at the table I realised there wasn't enough room for the last person to sit down when they got there so I had to go back to the manager to say there isn't gonna be enough room. He then went on to say there is aparantly nothing much they could do (even though it was their fault why the table had not been booked in). Then he sat us in the bar area even though we was all eating food as there was no where else to go. They then brought out knives and forks and didn't even put enough out on the table for everyone. The food was taking a long time to come out and it was making me late for the next place I was meant to go so I had to get up and sort it out when I should of been relaxed on my birthday, when I questioned about the food wait he had nothing to say other than "we have a full restaurant of people" and didn't even tell me an estimate of how long of a wait it was going to be. Then it was a bit convenient how the food came out to us 2 minutes after I had gone up to ask for it so they obviously had forgot about us because we was put in the bar area. The food was average but definitely not worth the price of what it is and the chips you get with the burgers are very small portions considering the price you pay. Overall the place didn't seem bothered about all this they had caused even after us telling them about how bad the service was and that they made us really late for the next place we was going to. The table was supposed to be booked for 7 at posthouse and we was still eating food at 8:40 as it took over an hour just for them to bring out the food.

We visited this evening for our wedding anniversary and had the steak deal. I can honestly say it is one of the best steaks we have had. Tom the waiter was amazing from start to finish. We will certainly be back

The food is good. However, the starters are in small portions. £6 for 3 finger-sized spring rolls...... Others are just great, good services and excellent atmosphere.

I ordered an aromatic duck, pork ribs, and a green curry with rice, and was pleased. It’s a new restaurant owned by a family who were very friendly, and the ambience is really nice by attaining to a combination of traditional wooden interior and the Bhuddist decor. Recommended for dates and big tables as it’s spacious

Been here twice this month with my partner we both love it. The foods always amazing! Everything is fresh flavourful, and cooked perfectly. Lovely staff and atmosphere, will definitely be returning again!

food is delicious, full of colour flavour and taste. hospitality is very good, doesn’t have service charge but i think they deserve a lot. feels like home tbh, also the atmosphere was as if you’re in Thailand, for the decorations and the background music. overall they deserve much more, should absolutely be well known.

Food is so nice, I love Thai food and can also be very picky but the pad Thai here is amazing and as a veggie all of the curries are also amazing. I’ve eaten here with people who eat meat too and they all like it, people who don’t like Thai food would even like it. Staff are lovely, if arranging a delivery it is always on time if not early and the restaurant is cute and chilled out. Will eat here forever if possible even if I move away from home. :)

Absolutely fabulous pub, couldn't recommend more. The staff are so friendly and absolutely hilarious, can't do enough for you. They don't sell hot food but there's plenty quality bar snacks to choose from including fresh pork pies on the weekends. Pubs always clean and cosy, great atmosphere overall. And the jukebox is second to non!

Cramped together, tables and chairs oddly arranged. It gets a lot of old men in there, most of which borderline harass you. Not much choice of beer, averagely priced. No food offered or shelter outside or outdoor area at all. One of the staff members, a young female with a piercing above her teeth was very rude regarding me eating a little bit of food inside (I had attempted to eat outside and it got soaked as they provide literally no shelter) and considering pubs encourage responsible drinking and considering the weather I thought she would’ve at least let me finish my food but no, she spoke down to me and my family after we had already had a distressing day so we left and took our money elsewhere, we don’t put money in the till to be spoken to like that. To top it off the jukebox is a rip off, you pay for 5 songs and it only plays 2-3 and the apparent regulars hog it anyway. Used to come here a lot back in the day, shame to see it in such a state, toilets were an absolute mess too, toilet paper everywhere and bars on the window! Very odd. Won’t return.

One of Wigan's best pub's in one of it's oldest buildings. A great crowd of regulars but equally welcoming to the occasional visitor, particularly if you're partial to the ever changing selection of guest ales. A fantastic alternative to the identikit big screen and loud dance music establishments in the rest of the town centre.

A lovely proper pub a couple of hundred yards from Wigan Northwest Station. Old fashion in the best meaning of the word. Good range of proper beers and really cheap prices. Bar staff lovely and most welcoming. Will not be my last visit.

Difficult to get served as the staff are busy chatting amongst themselves or have their heads buried in their smart phones, otherwise it could be a good venue. Didn't try the food so no comment on that

Really really disappointed. Went back here Sunday after begging my husband to go as I was craving a pie only to find it has changed owners and gone downhill - really boring typical range of ciders - gone are the lovely Aspall and Black Dragon on deaught; had to eat in the boring dining room not the bar like we used to; bar staff shouted "mushy or garden peas" from where she was at the till didn't move to serve us and to top it off - pie came out - gone is the oven dish beautiful one with tasty cheese and beans + gravy and just a boring typical pie with boring oven chips. We will not be coming again.

An Architectural gem, tastefully decorated, 3 ales on the bar, the once proud Raven pub sign is rather worn, a shame, it would make the pub look so much more inviting from the outside with a refresh.

We only go in for two breakfasts & a brew on a Sunday, brilliant brekkies though, not many in Sunday morning (which we like) although we do know everyone there, recently done up & brighter than it was, needs Wi-Fi as can't get a signal on mobile data

Old fashioned pub in warm old Tetley colours has a Wednesday discount day for Cask Critics, which seems to bring in the numbers. Nice selection of hand-pulled ales and also food.

Recently hired the outside area for my wife's 40th birthday and this was perfect location. The bright, open space was a great size for our forty or so guests, who were a mixture of adults and children. We ordered a number of pizzas for our guests and the quality of every single one was fantastic. The chef even made a special rabbit shaped pizza for an inquisitive child, who was watching him work. It was that friendless and kindness that was synonymous of all the staff. From messaging the Old Bank and arranging the event, to the staff on the evening, nothing was too much trouble. They worked incredibly hard and diligently and would definitely recommend this venue for anyone considering a small gathering like ours.

Staff were extremely outgoing and friendly. Chocolate Doughnuts was absolutely delicious, and very good value for money as they offer 25% food on Wednesday's and Sundays. Vanilla Milkshake was very refreshing. Overall, a great experience. Definitely, return in the future and would highly recommend to any to visit within the local area.

Since this is my first time visiting this place, I thought I would share my experience. Nice clean place, with a relaxing atmosphere, did have a slight difficult ordering my food due to my speech implement, but the person who was serving me was patient and polite. The food was excellent and lovely. The only down side, was the parking, but lucky a friend showed me where to park. All in all, definitely recommend visiting 'The Old Bank Coffee & Wine'.

This is a nice, cosy, rustic-looking place to eat and have coffee. Food is good and coffee is lovely. Just one thing spoiled it a little for me, which was the brusk attitude of one of the staff (older lady with grey ponytail). pleasantness costs nothing and is so important to customers. Perhaps she can work on that?

The old Royal Bank of Scotland .... its much better inside now !! Went for breakfast, Egg Benedict, unbelievable and well presented absolutely brilliant food. Good service, clean tidy and comfy settings. Well recommended !! Looking forward to my next breakfast.

Love coming to The Old Bank. Staff are always so polite and attentive. The food is out of this world. Last visited on a Saturday in June and even though it was very busy, the food was top notch. I had the special that was on offer that day - a steak sandwich with egg and salsa. My husband had the Bombay potato soup which he thoroughly enjoyed! Will definitely be coming back very soon - I’m dying to try one of the Chocolate peanut butter milkshakes but I sadly was far too full on this visit to have one!! But mark my words - I’ll be back to try it!

It was more than expected. Excellent service staff. Excellent fries to the food, best I've had for years. Sallad BLT was great. Garlic bread could be more garlicy. Perry pery chicken was a bit bland with the seasoning. Chicken Garlions was good also. Nice and calm, not to loud, many rooms to sit. Classic pub but in good condition.

We found this great pub by chance, and we had a warm welcome from the landlords. Really shat you would want a traditional English pub be. We gave now gone back a second time and sitting in the large, well designed beer garden. We are coming back to wigan again next week and will definitely be returning.

Had afternoon tea. We didn't enjoy the cheesecake and the scones are dry but otherwise it was good. Definitely worth the price. Clean toilets and nice atmosphere. Their breakfast is amazing though.

Came here today for lunch omg the food was amazing the gammon was cooked perfectly and the eggs cooked to just how I asked. My partners burger was delicious also it had plenty of bacon on it. We will definitely recommend here and we will be back. Thank you guys 😊

Been really impressed by recent offerings on the food menu. Really great for "pub grub". Particularly enjoyed the whipped feta and hot honey wings. Refreshing to see a range of good options for vegan friends too!

My favourite Chinese EVER (and I've tried plenty!) - I grew up in Wigan and used to have Peter's regularly, it's literally iconic and everyone knows about it and loves it. The food is amazing, it's a family run business and it feels good to support it. I have moved away from Wigan many years ago but still have family there and getting food from here is literally a highlight any time I go back to visit. My partner who's not from Wigan loves it more than me now and always asks to go when we get the chance.

I've been going to Peter's for over 40 years and never had a bad meal. Staff have always been friendly even they are often under pressure. You also generally get several spring rolls for free! highly recommend.

Great food never had a bad meal you get some freebies now and again to let you try something new,, lovely service everytime clean good pricing one of the best in Wigan. They dont do delivery. Your better ordering ahead as weekends get very busy..

Every member of staff excelled , a lovely warm welcome and fantastic service from all of them . I chose the mega breakfast , which was exceptional value . Nipped in for a breakfast butty (are barm I got told 🤣)while waiting for a train. Was perfect and very reasonable prices especially with it being so close to 2 train stations. Very friendly staff. Next time im in that area I will definitely nip in again.

The employees' behavior is not nice at all and they do not listen to people... We had a child with us and they did not listen even though we informed them that they have dog phobia. Also, the employees are not good at cleaning, they play with the animals that come in and prepare drinks for us with their dirty hands.

I come here most days. The staff are lovely but unfortunately the prices are creeping up and my usual hot chocolate occasionally tastes like hot water

An excellent fish and chip shop with cafe and good seating area. I had chicken tikka with half chips, half rice and was piping hot with a good cup of hot coffee. Excellent staff, great customer service and answered all my questions I had Highly recommended 👍

Popped in for some dinner with my son. It wasn’t busy at the time eating in, so we managed to get served quickly. If you're looking for a place to carb-load before your next marathon, or simply indulge in some comfort food, then look no further than this chip shop. And let me tell you, they take their chips seriously here. So seriously, in fact, that I half-expected to see a Michelin-starred chef emerge from the kitchen, brandishing a golden fryer and barking orders at a team of sous-chefs. But in all seriousness, the chips here are top-notch. Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. They're the kind of chips that make you forget all your troubles and embrace the simple pleasures in life. Like, say, dipping them in ketchup and making silly faces at your dining companion. All in all, this chip shop is a solid choice for anyone in need of some carb-heavy sustenance. The food was very nice and great service too. 👍👍 Bon appétit!

I was looking forward to this visit. Decided to eat in, not a bad little eating area. Chose the Fish meal deal Fish,chips and peas and a 330 ml can for £11, treated myself to a side of fruity curry. Chips were ok, looked anaemic, but ok, peas were ok, the fish on top looked nice, turn it over thick crusty batter and hollow in parts. Bit tasteless also. Fruity curry was nice. Friday PM

Very friendly owners and kind. However, let down by slow service and oily food. my partner had a breakfast and food quality was poor. Sausages were standard mass catering ones. Toast was thin and eggs/bacon was swimming in oil. I had the steak sandwich and fries and salad were nice but the baguette was also soaked in oil and barely any steak. Unfortunately, we were left feeling quite unwell from all the oil. Food needs much improvement but cannot fault service.

How have I never been to Santos café before!!? Absolutely amazing. great price point service was brilliant (served by 3 happy ladies). And the food.... was piping hot and delicious. Chilli cheese burger was on point Will definitely be returning.

First visit here, I came with my mum and I had been having a rough few days at school and it was really nice to get out and go for breakfast but also being in a very relaxed space. Went to Santos for the first time to relax with my friend after spending 10 ten minutes walking around the urban jungle that is Wigan. I needed to rest, my legs are old and weary, no longer am I an18 years old with the energy of a Labrador Retriever. My friend got a cappuccino and i got a tea. I was happy that they brought over a pot of tea. I had two full cups of caffeine to help me through the day. The pot of tea was cheap, but I forgot what the cost was, so sorry if you walk in and think otherwise. My friend enjoyed his cappuccino. The workers were nice and the place was clean. What i loved most about the place was the menu. Absolutely brilliant. Gave instructions of how to go about ordering my tea and the processes afterwards. See the picture with the review. Often i walk into shops and cafes etc feeling full of anxiety of not knowing what to do. I often feel like shouting mummy please help me in shops when i get confused but a 30 year old man shouting mummy help me! is frowned upon., sigh.

We had a lovely breakfast. Ordered a traditional & a Santos mega breakfast and it was absolutely lovely! The coffee and mocha was also amazing, really hot too which is also a bonus. Great friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Thanks so much- see you again soon!

I have been going here for a few years now and each time, the service has been pristine. Unfortunately, I don’t live in the area anymore and it takes me at least 30 minutes to get there, but it is so worth it! The chips are cooked to perfection and not one chip ever gets left. The meals are good value for money- I had Sausage, Chips, Curry and a can of coke last night and it was only £5! Usually, I order a smack/potato scallop too and they are brilliant! The staff are amazing and always serve with a smile on their faces!

The taste has gone terrible, in my opinion. The pastry has no taste whatsoever, and the filling is scarce, I understand the cost of living has risen and price increases have hit everywhere but considering they have decreased their ingredients, the price increases in this bakery are unjustified for the quality of product you are paying for.

Honestly, you get what you pay for. Cheap products are small and made using cheap ingredients. If this food is all that you can afford then you will enjoy it, but if you are accustomed to more filling and tastier food, you will not enjoy these products. Try elsewhere for better quality ingredients and a far more filling and tastier product 👍🏻

Our usual go to Chinese. Not anymore. Decided to get s/p chicken, fried rice and curry sauce. The next day both me and my partner had food poising, a day after reading Chopsticks got fined for their hygiene a few years ago…. We’d only eaten a sandwich and bagel that day, both with fresh dates, and made at home, so no doubt it was the Chinese food. Shame, we thought the chicken was different.

Good chipy and Chinese food. Chips always seem to be better Friday, Saturday and Sunday but aren't quite as good Wednesday and Thursday, I suspect its because the fat gets changed Friday. You get freebies if you spend over a certain amount, prawn crackers or pop. Just been back for the first time in ages and it's still good.

Asked for duck in orange sauce and was sent duck in pineapple sauce. I absolutely detest pineapple and never in my life from any Chinese dish restaurant or take away have I ever been sent duck in orange loaded with pineapples and pineapple sauce and wasn't even offered a refund. I won't ever order from here again as I have no clue of what I might get. This what I've got this evening is absolutely disgusting

Olivia Whelley. Service was disgraceful. Ordered a special mixed kebab for £25.50. comes with mixed meat, 2 nans and 2 tubs of sauce. When it came there were no nan breads. Rang to let them know, only to be told that they had checked the cameras and could see that they had put them in the bag (we had only just queried this) and basically called us liars. After much arguing they eventually brought the nans only to then find there was 1 and not 2. Will never order from them again. So rude!

Food was okay . Ive used this place for a while and recently there have been discrepancy. In price on menu and price on the e receipt and price they charge you at your door . Couple of pound here and there.but if there doing this on every delivery.there quids in You've lost a loyal customer tonight . Through greed

The staff here are all extremely friendly and the service is relatively quick, usually a 10 to 15 minute wait for your order. The food here is very good for price and the pizzas are easily the BEST that I have ever tasted! Would 100% recommend to anyone!

Love the food and order regularly. However, the delivery driver is a thief. He gave me the bill and I gave him notes but said I'd grab an odd 10p for him. I left the door open while I went to get the 10p.came back and he had gone with my change. Not acceptable. They've also stopped doing the free garlic bread and minimum order is £17

I got salt and pepper chicken balls, salt and pepper chips and egg fried rice. The chicken balls were good but needed more seasoning in my opinion The chips were good too but similar opinion Egg fried rice was lovely and fluffy and had good flavour. The food itself is very hot and fresh (I ordered collection.) and has definitely got potential to be perfect with small improvements! The portions are generous and I struggled to finish even half. My order came to £15.20 but considering I could definitely feed two is not expensive in my opinion considering how expensive places like McDonald’s have gotten. There’s a lovely amount of spice and if there were to be more seasoning added these could absolutely be a 5*. The young man who served me was polite and the place looks clean. The pictures show how much was left after plating my food but my partner also had a portion before this picture was taken to show how good the portions are! I would recommend this place to others

Always consistently good. The food is hot, typical Chinese takeaway fayre but always well made, decently presented and hot. Never had any complaints about it. It's a shame that cards aren't accepted but not everywhere has the facilities.

Ordered tonight salt and pepper chicken pieces and soft noodles. Chicken was reheated and tasted like it one bit for me. Noodles not fresh a went in the bin. I for one will NOT be returning vile food. You would think they oils make the food fresh 🤦🏼‍♀️ very unhappy 🙁

Fabulous food at the wheel restaurant 😋 I went with my mum and sister and had a great meal. It was a shame that there weren't many tables in dining, as these young students need the experience of a full restaurant. They are open Tuesday and Thursday for lunch at 12,12:15,12:30, and the same days but for the evening at 6 pm, 6:15,6:30. We arranged a table on the day so they do take in last min bookings and the drinks prices are excellent 👌 Highly recommend the fish n chips 😋 the fish was the best fish n chips I've ever had, the batter was lovely and light, and the home-made tarter sauce was excellent only thing missing was some mushy peas but the veg that we had to share between us was excellent and could have fed another 4 people, we had carrots, new potatoes, green beans with a ragu sauce and another portion of chips. Honestly, I can't recommend this place enough, and for the price of £17.95 ( for the evening/dinner menu), we all left completely stuffed. we also had a cup of tea at the end and a homemade biscuit 😋

We've been 4 or 5 times with various people and the food has been brilliant. Not just good for collage students... It's really good! You get a nice (and still cheap) meal and students get a chance to learn and work towards a future in catering.

We’re sat here now having Christmas dinner. Couldn’t fault a thing. Excellent service, the students are a credit to the college. All 6 of us had a variety of starters, mains and desserts. All perfect and fantastic value for money.

Just had Christmas lunch here with our church family. I can honestly say it's the best one I've had for years. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were polite and helpful. Will certainly be revisiting and can highly recommend it.

We had a great evening here. The menu was Great British which included an array of dishes including leek and potato soup, prawn cocktail and scotch egg to start, followed by fish and chips, hotpot, cheese pie and chicken tikka. Dessert of strawberry tart, trifle and sticky toffee pudding completed the meal. At £18.95 for three courses this is such great value for money too!!

Meal for 4 yesterday, great service, food was good, tomato soup for starter, cheese and onion pie for main. The small portion of veg with the main was undercooked unfortunately but the cheese and onion pie was pretty good. Thought it was quite expensive for pub grub but everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Perfect location and always a friendly vibe. Tonight we just wanted a light bite, and the food was a delight. Service wise we were quickly shown to our table, given the right amount of time before the helpful young waiter Harry came for our order. The food was really nice. Home made soup and the vegetables around my main cooked to perfection. Really tasty meal all around and super helpful friendly staff.

Our waiter Arod was great. He's was very accommodating when I wanted to swap something on the menu. He made sure that we had a lovely meal. He was very attentive. Food was amazing. I've dreamt about having a ploughman's for months 😊 and it did not disappoint. My daughter said they were the best chicken nuggets she's ever had. Portions were generous. Thank you at all.

my mum along with close family members celebrated her '85th' Birthday at The Boars Head. We'd booked a table in advance & we arrived slightly early but we were shown to our table by Sophie. K The place was busy inside & outside, the atmosphere was nice & pleasant. We were attended to by Sophie & John throughout. Both were attentive & friendly. Our drinks & food were brought out promptly with no delays at all. Our food was fantastic - freshly cooked & very hot - as it should be with 'hearty' portions too - we were all stuffed after eating, sadly no room for dessert. That aside, our whole experience was really really nice. Excellent value for money. I would thoroughly recommend The Boars Head. My thanks again to Sophie & John for looking after us & for helping make my mums birthday a nice one.

I absolutely love Papa Luigi's. Great food every time, it's hot and fresh and consistent. Lots to choose from the menu such ; pasta, pizza, fish dishes, steak and risotto. They have deals on throughout the week. Staff are lovely and friendly too and make you feel welcomed.

Visited Saturday evening (02.08.25) myself and parents arrived at 6:15pm (early for a 6:30 booking) our greeting was warm and friendly. We were promptly escorted to a table and our drinks order was taken in an efficient manner! Our food order was taken soon after. We didn’t wait to long for our food considering when it arrived it was clearly cooked fresh! The food not only looked appealing but tasted amazing. All three of us complimented the food. Not only did it taste great but it was well portioned. Very happy with our visit! And will definitely return, compliments to all the staff including the kitchen staff (as they are often overlooked) a great meal for my parents anniversary

Great for large groups!! We had a large party of 13 people and honestly could not fault the food or the staff. I sent an email the day before of what everyone wanted and they sorted everything out! We didn't have huge wait times considering we were a large party and we didn't feel rushed either. The food was brilliant and would definitely come again

Top quality micro, 3 ales, 3 ciders, and craft keg beers. A short stumble from the bus station next door, seating is limited due to the narrow limitations of the premises.

This long narrow bar is down a narrow backstreet. It has about six hand-pulled ales. There’s an open air area at the back which has heaters. Function room upstairs. Worth a visit.

great initiative, this. just got two bulging bags of shopping for twenty-odd quid, including some suncream and razors which would cost at least a tenner on their own these days. there's always been a really good selection of produce here, either for your everyday basics like veg and bread and cupboard bits, or little snacky items that perhaps you wouldn't usually venture to. they've always had a really excellent selection of freezer pies that are great to have in, plus some things that you wouldn't really expect like baby food, health food items, gluten free stuff, vegetarian items... all very much worth a look! staff are very friendly and helpful, free parking, and you can grab a toastie when you're done. can't say fairer than that, really. huge asset to the community!

Not sure what Rolling Pin has done to their pies but just had Meat and Potato Pies and they're nowhere near the quality they were a few years ago. That's a shame as always loved this bakery

I visited for the first time today with my girlfriend after reading about Pies in Wigan. We are from Midlands and both love pies, after asking a few Northern friends they suggested we visited Rollin Pin Bakery. We were not disappointed one bit, this was one of the best pies and sausage rolls I have ever had. Prices were very affordable unlike Greggs and staff were so friendly. The lady let us eat in too even though it was very busy. Thank you!!

Raw sausage in my large breakfast, not what you expect for almost £10. What a joke. They did bring a replacement meal because of this but this was slightly cooked more but still not properly cooked l. May be sausage roll meat which is very low quality for the price.

The queue was virtually out of the door! Speaks volumes that does! There were lots of ready prepared fish, which, in my experience of other chippies, in not usually the case. They were pretty massive, too. I was served quickly, but my parking experience was a bit of a nightmare. I have been again since but was driven there by a friend. It was 13:30 and there were lots of spaces available. We ate outside as the sun was shining. The staff were lovely. And my food was hot. I didn't take a photo of my food but here's some pictures of my muddy shoes!

I've lived round here for 30+ years but never managed to get to this esteamed establishment... notes: 1. fish & portion (Haddock - one of the best types for FnC) - reasonable price for size and area. However, I found the batter lacking, it was sufficiently cooked, but not crispy enough. Also, the fish was somewhat moist/wet as to its texture ~ unusual in fresh, not so in frozen - [?] - in fact that point brings back to the batter ,(although freshly applied) it was like that found on "Young's" or other frozen "chip shop" style fish... that is nothing oc the sort. Chips - wonderful Peas - Glorious - both in taste and texture. The place is usually busy; but efficiently run.and the staff are both pleasant and helpfull. JH - Grimsby Fisherman (Ret)

I am writing to raise a concern regarding an unpleasant experience I had today at around 9:00 AM at your branch. I ordered four cheeseburgers, and as I usually do, I asked for two small sauces. Normally, these are given without any issue. However, today, the staff member handing me the food said nothing, but a lady in a white shirt—who seemed to be a supervisor—spoke to me very rudely and insisted I pay 10p for the sauces. This is not about the money. I have no issue paying for extra sauces. The issue is the disrespectful attitude and unprofessional behaviour shown by someone in a supervisory position. As a regular customer who visits this branch almost five times a week, I have never experienced such treatment before. Such behaviour not only upsets loyal customers but also damages the reputation of a well-known brand like McDonald’s. I hope this incident will be taken seriously and properly investigated. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Absolutely shocking. Spent 50 quid and only received half order via uber eats. Went to store and the manager Ben wasn't interested at all. Disgusting behaviour. Maybe get Ben re trained properly.

If you want your body to be a priority then do not order I don't usually go McDonald's but one time I go Maccies and got the spicy nuggets (I can handle my spice because my Pakistani family makes curry quite often.) Later that night I couldn't stop going to the bathroom every 5 mins giving the worse stomach pain I've ever experienced, my body felt weak and constant headaches, I'm still currently going to the bathroom constantly after 24 hours don't eat there unless you want to be in hospital

Food okay but staff stood around talking rather than being busy. My order number showed as ready for collection yet took ankther 5 mins to actually appear. They also seem to prioritise Uber Eats/Deliveroo workers as if they work for them. No issues with the food but service leaves alot to be desired.

Ordered two double cheeseburgers and a medium coke at the drive thru. Only one car in front of me. After paying for my order I waited nearly 15 mins behind one car at the at the collection point. When I got to the collection point my meal came however no coke. They had not put on the coke when I ordered. Instead of taking the order at the collection point they said I'll have to drive back around and order the coke again, rude staff will go elsewhere in future.

Went on 06/01/25, there were rats. Not just 1 or 2 but at least 6 from what I saw. Not only were there rats but they got my order wrong; there were pickles and onions on my burger (which I had asked to be removed), no extra cheese or bacon (which I paid extra for), and the Coke Zero was flat, lukewarm warm and had no ice.

This is the worst McDonald’s I have been to so far. The food quality is a joke. We ordered two cups of hot chocolate and they are tasteless and so as the Flat White. The Sausage and Egg McMuffin where the piece of sausage was being folded. We thought everything including tastes should be standardized everywhere but it is actually not. I will not go to this one any more.

It's McDonald's... what do you expect 🤣 highly recommend the chilli cheese burgers! It's a shame they don't keep some of the limited milkshakes. The blueberry milkshake was delicious and, by far, the best one!

Just been in McD's and as soon as you walk in ure eyes start to hurt with the burning smell. Everyone oblivious of how bad it is on the shop floor so went to the toilet and my ears were bursting by the volume of the music. Very poor management. BTW this was 5am.

Went this afternoon chips were awful like they had been sat there for a week. Atmosphere was horrible staff could do with customer service training.

This McDonald's is the slowest drive through known to man. Been a few times and its always the same. They often get you to park up aswell for the most simple order. Foods below average. Avoid this McDonald's if you can. I hate writing reviews but im 20 mins into a driveway que at this place so why not!!!!

Food was as expected, plenty of parking, self-service to delivery took 3-4 min. The staffs were attentive..the table were standard and clean, enough room for us 3 adults and 2 children.

The food is okay,the coffee is not. I used to get coffee almost every day, well quite often and it was completely fine. But now ,something has changed and it just tastes awful. I still get wraps and burgers,just not coffee anymore.

Food wasnt the best, we went at night around 8.pm, it was quiet, with just 2 other families seated and 3 people in queu. When we finally got our order, the sprite was just fizzy water and the tea was hot chocolate.. Although this was rectified we still had a small wait.

Had take aways. 3 times on 3 separate occasions there have been items missing from the orders, first two, burger and chips. And 3rd time, wrap and chips. Had to drive back for these. The last time we went, 2 of the staff were messing about, they had to be told to stop by a young girl. Also, trying to get your food is a struggle with delivery bags thrown in the way on the floor. Paying around £35 every time I go in, i don't expect rubbish service like this, especially when the place is always quiet when i go in. Needs proper management in this place.

Average McDonald's experience, however staff are very busy and usually more often than not forget something with your order. they are happy to correct their mistakes to give credit. Can be a long wait considering it's fast food depending on how busy it is. Can also be full of delivery food drivers hovering around waiting for orders.. Not the best McDonald's.

Alright. First I order a meal for 6 pounds and it days my card declines and I had around 33 pounds so I keep trying and it takes of 18 pounds off my account. I go to the worker and tell him and show him and he gives me a meal . One meal. I would like my money back. VERY disappointing!

First time visiting, service was great, the place looked clean - staff are incredibly welcoming. I got fish, chips and curry sauce, big sizes and the batter on the fish was to die for and the chips were tasty. By far the best fish I’ve had in Wigan! Best thing about it, it was amazingly priced!!! Will be returning!

Stopped by on my way home from work and tried their authentic Greek gyro box meals as seen advertised in their shop window. It was like being in Greece. Will visit them again and defo can recommend them to my friends.

This place is fantastic. We've been 4 or 5 times since moving into the area. Chippy isn't even one of my favourite takeaways but this place delivers EVERY TIME. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Fresh, hot and delicious. Scallops to die for.

This place should be temporarily closed for full renovation works due to safety concerns. It’s dirty, the furniture is badly damaged, there are leak and mould marks on some parts of the ceiling, a lot of condensation on windows etc. Not to mention that the toilets have a strong smell of damp / mould so I presume the rest of the back area - staff room and kitchen must be in a similar condition. Won’t return unless it undergoes substantial works to address all these concerns.

The food was absolutely delicious, ordered a chicken melt and Doritos, very hot!! Would definitely visit again.

Foods was brilliant, we used table service and it arrived quickly and hot, but the staff member that brought the tray to the table was walking away before the tray was even put down, no acknowledgement and ignored us when we thanked her for bringing over the food. We also noticed an older lady that asked for help using the self service machine and she was walked past and ignored by the same member of staff, leading her to leave the building quietly and take her service elsewhere. We understand that everyone has a bad day but the service that came from this particular staff member was not even bare minimum in the slightest

Used to enjoy coming here but now it's become an utter joke. The place needs a revamp ASAP, the booths are ripped and the end one is completely broken. The staff aren't interested in serving you at the counter anymore and tell you to use the kiosk which is not efficient unless you're paying by card. The only thing that makes this place bearable is the quality of the food. However, with the price of the food you'd expect them to spend some of the profits on keeping the place somewhat presentable.

I come here a few times a month when I'm really feeling klempt after work. I highly recommend putting their slogan to the test and "have it your way". My go to at the moment is a Bacon King with an extra Chicken Patty. Gorgeous. If you're feeling adventurous get some crispy onions on that. Oosh. Staff are friendly and actually remember my order. Get the app on your phone for some great discounts 😉

Could do with a refurb inside as it felt a bit run down. Touch screens for ordering were temperamental but still functional. Staff were friendly and food was good quality and served quickly. A little on the pricey side though.

What an experience !!!! Travelled all the way from Australia to the try their famous offerings and didn’t disappoint. Steve & Gem were very warm, welcoming and are down to earth beautiful people. The food was fresh, clean, hearty and truly fantastic. Their spin on the English classics was to die for. The place was ultra clean and provided exceptional value for money. The best cod I’ve had in the UK. Do yourself a favour and get out of the city and visit them. You won’t be disappointed. Keep up the great work and can’t wait for the stubby holders to come out 🤣🤣

Absolutely amazing chippy with a few twists to your ordinary chippy menu choices. We arrived to a friendly welcome from Ste & Gem. We ordered a Fish and peas. But then ordered couple of the amazing options these where chips fish peas curry on a barm which was then batteredw and fried which was amazing. Then we also ordered the famous trawlerman Cheese bomb, this was absolutely amazing. Everything was freshly cooked to perfection. They have inside and outside dining which i thought was brilliant. You can even get slushy drinks. The menu is quite extensive and was very reasonably priced. Very recommended and will be visiting again. Thank you Ste & Gem. Brilliant xx

I've been following the delights of the trawlerman on YouTube from over in bulgaria.i am wigan born and bred so just had to try some of their delights on my next trip to wigan. And boy did they not disappoint. I had the barm with chips peas curry and fish deep fried, WOW, it was so good, wish I was staying a bit longer to sample more delights. £30 0dd for family of 4 for tea. Peas were missing on mine, but the meals themselves were such small portions they looked like 4 happy meals, to say on the reviews they pride themselves on generous portion sizes these were extremely poor. Sorry but wont be returning.

Had this place recommended to me; so passed two chippys closer to home to give it a try and very glad I did. I had battered sausage and what was meant to be a small portion of chips that could have easily fed two if not more people!! Will be returning.

Called at 12 noon on a Tuesday, nothing ready, had to wait 10mins for chips and when they did arrive they were very greasy and the portion was terrible! Ordered a large chips, it hardly the size of a regular chips. Paid £3.00 for them, we won't be going back anytime soon. Photo shows how small the 'large chips' portion was compared to another chip shop we had to go to to get more chips!

Nat & Adam are two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet I'm bedridden I'm in heart failure and if I fancy a fish I just text my good friend Nat & it's delivered Asap. I don't think I'd get to eat if it weren't for these two angels 😇 Thanks Peeps xxx

Never had fish and chips from here before but I can honestly say this is one of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time …. Also got it delivered and was still really crispy the fish and the chips was piping hot … my new fave will defo be ordering again

Definitely the best chippy I have been too ever. Staff were super friendly and professional, they made the effort to speak to customers whilst they were waiting on FRESH food. As soon as I walked in the shop smelt and looked clean. Cafe area was spotless. All food was cooked fresh to order 😋. I highly recommend anyone wanting tasty, fresh food and amazing service get yourself to Alison's restaurant in hindley, you won't be disappointed 😁.

Not been here for a while, should have never bothered. Gravy looked like diesel and has a peculiar taste to it... Avoid!!!!

Been in a couple of times now food improved. But my Chips were cold in the week So went in last night to get takeaway just mentioned my Chips were cold when I got home the other night.For the young English girl to question how could they be cold and how far did I travel. Does not matter how far even though I only live behind the shop for her to question a customer her attitude was rude. Disappointing for a staff member to speak to customers abruptly. Not good when there is competition near by. Respect the customers

This is a typical Chinese restaurant where you can find some quick food and beverage. As this restaurant is just over the road, there is no hassle of ordering food and getting them home. You can't sit there and eat as there is no space and sitting arrangement but you can order the food and take it away.

The food was excellent. The staff are very efficient too, no standing around waiting but constantly doing something. Prices are very fair. Would highly recommend ordering anything from the menu here.

We've always had Chinese takeaway from here, but the last takeaway was not the same. Sorry we didn't enjoy at all.

Ordered chips and peas recently and they were awful. The peas looked liked death and the chips warmed up. All went in the bin. What has happened to this once great Chinese?

Ordered delivery a few times through the app. I can't say any items were missing like many reviews here, but the food does always come cold. The gravy was that cold and thick you could stand a spoon up in it. KFC Ashton in Makerfield needs to do better and ensure food is fresh and piping hot before it leaves.

Past 2 orders have been wrong. Asked for one thing got delivered something different. Even rang the restaurant and gave specific orders as can’t have a certain item. Order still got delivered wrong. I work in hospitality and do this type of job daily! How hard is it to read a check!! Retrain your staff!!

Food order via Just Eat. Bottle of 7 up, dips and a wrap missing from my order. I'm sorry but the fact that I have passed them a code to me is meaningless. This is the reason they won't give me a refund for the missing items.! The items that I purchased, as described, were not inside the sealed package, so I have not got what I paid for. Duento leaving in a flat. I have to come down to collect from the main door, so I'm not going to be opening packages whilst the driver waits. It's nonsense. I wanted this escalating as I paid over £40 for all this order and this is totally unacceptable. May not order from here again to be honest. Just beware and be mindful.

What can I say this was probably my worst experience to date. Ordered a Party bucket, stood waiting for over 20 minutes for food. OK it was Friday night so a little wait is to be expected. Got my order home missing loads - they forgot the entire boneless chicken? Forgot the pop corn chicken in fact the only thing they managed to put in was the boned chicken, sides and fries. Went back corrected ordered, we are now nearly an hour since point of order. Boned chicken given me a doggy tummy, should have realised something was off when it wasn't crispy was a moist exterior. KFC need to get their act together and pull this franchise it isn't doing them any good.

Delayed service even though I was the only paying customer(ordered online to pick up) for considerable length of time. Food was average-chicken dry,coating overly salty and greasy.Fries limp and soggy,wrong potato type were used,possibly refrozen(as in the freezer).I tried couple,and my mouth was left with a nasty aftertaste. I doubt I'll return here.

Not very good 3 piece meal and 2x2 hot wings (larged it ) but chips were scarce in the bag !!! Chicken pieces were small and looked well past their shelf life and the wings were even worse deffo been sat there a long time prior to purchase !!! Also small sized wings ... £11.56 for the privilage ... staff were freindly and helpfull but the chicken wasnt very good .. i wont be going this particular store again ... visited at 9.50pm

Third disappointing visit this year. Staff swearing with each other. It felt more like a social club for the staff than a professionally run takeaway. Didn’t seem to have anyone in charge. 5 pieces = 3 legs, a wing, and one breast. I won’t be back.
