Princess Elizabeth is a historic little ship from the WW2 Dunkirk evacuation, now restored and serving as an excellent restaurant. The modern and comfortable decor, polite staff, and good selection of menu items cater to all tastes. The food is simple yet refined, with ingredients retaining their original flavors and house-prepared sauces adding unique tastes. While the service may not be fast, the deliciously cooked meals make it worth a visit for a wonderful dining experience on this iconic vessel.
Birthday lunch Easter 2025. Boat was lovely. Food was delicious but my daughter struggled to find vegetarian choices. She settled on the one identified dish which she assured us was really good. I recommend the French martini ! Nice atmosphere on board but menu on French ( i know, how dare they! 😂) and staff didn’t speak English well enough to describe dishes to us. So - have a look at the menu before you go is my tip of the day, it’s on their website. Well worth a visit and a memorable birthday lunch.

We had a traditional menu for dinner, staff was friendly and we enjoyed the dishes. Prices are a bit overrated but it's justified with the location and the restaurant itself.
The food was impeccable. I enjoyed being there, it was definitely an experience. The staff was friendly, however every time I was approached in French, even though it had been established that I didn't speak any. As a tourist I understand I'm the visitor, but I found it a bit pointless.
Good quality, prices are somewhat adequate given that it is France and the location/story/setting of the restaurant. Service depends on the waiter, some were super friendly and explained & advised, others were more impersonal and quite robotic
Poor. Visited as a large group. Veal starter was very acidic. Main was duck and was cold. Service far too rushed. Nice drinks.
The real disaster and disappointment here was a dessert was spilled on my colleague’s knee whilst seated. Very poor apology.

Incredible restaurant on board the HMS Princess Elizabeth (who saved 1650 soldiers from Dunkirk in 1940). Beside the location the food, wines, cocktails, whisky and everything else is perfect, even the bill. A must.
We had a very nice lunch here and they accommodated my gluten-free needs very well. Their online reservation system worked very well except some timings do not reflect the restaurant closure but they called us to inform us and modify our timing.
It’s just amazing. The boat is owned by the urban community and rented by a restaurant by a mechanism of pu lic services delegation . I didn't had lots of choices but I have appreciated the moment spent there because of the spectacular view

The Comme Vous Voulez restaurant is a great place to enjoy a fresh meal and a delicious glass of wine. The food is homemade, and the service is friendly. This French restaurant is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy some good food and beautiful views of the sea.
A simply wonderful restaurant. The food here was absolutely amazing, There is a set menu with 3 courses for 32 euros. There is 5 or 6 choices per course. Drinks of course are extra. The staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant was quite full for a weekday so a reservation might be in order. The dessert was most interesting you could order five small portions of each one. Lovely!

My mum booked us in for dinner after having read some good reviews and boy did she choose well.
The wine was great, the bread was great and then when the dinner arrived, it struck us silent as we enjoyed all the wonderful flavours. I ordered the Duck Magret and I deeply wished I had a second stomach so I could eat it again. Sadly I am but human and only have one stomach but such is life. We couldn’t fit dessert but if we could have, we would have!

It has promise and perhaps we were unlucky a few things went wrong.
The good - amuse bouche was tasty and a nice touch, like that they accommodate kids with smaller portions and nice location.
The bad - My kids mocktails had what looked like green mould in them. Service with drinks was kind of slow. When we asked for mayonnaise for the fries they didn't arrive until they were cold.
The ugly - I spent the whole night/morning being poorly with food poisoning. I suspect it was starter as I was the only one to have that and was the only ill person. I called to let them know as they may wish to look into, didn't really feel they took ownership or cared a great deal. Was just told its not us.
The place is decent enough. Went there mainly because of the ratings that it had recieved and therefore thought that it would be one of the better restaurants along the coastal strip.
It would've been nicer if the place had more in-house preparations.
The service was also ok. Our tea/coffee came after the dessert.

I have eaten all around the world. Have been to hundreds of restaurants in my life (Im 46) from Michelin starred restaurants to dives. This was THE worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant and one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever experienced in any industry. The wait staff was unbelievably obnoxious and rude(coming from a former waiter). We ended up not eating here (after waiting 45 minutes for a menu and 50 minutes for water) so I cannot comment on the food. Our table was never inconsiderate or impolite at any point. We were never loud or obnoxious either(no one in our group drank any alcohol). We walked down a few blocks and had a delicious meal at a very warm and welcoming establishment.
If you make a reservation they will place you in the worst part of the restaurant. We were seated in a very dark place near the kitchen. I think the trick is that they place people who reserved a table in advance in the worst corners of the restaurant while they leave the terrace for those who were passing by and decided at the last minute to eat. I notice that those "reserved tables" at the terrace remained empty most ot the time. It completely sour our experience.

The service was excellent and when all the construction is done along the beach, I imagine the atmosphere would be also much better. A good wine and beer selection.
The fish that i had was very lacking in flavor, but the rest of my group enjoyed their meals and they looked much better. The menu (appetizer, main and dessert) was priced well.

A very interesting restaurant with many inside decorations. The place has a very nice atmosphere and the service was friendly. Many locals dine here. There is an English version of the menu. The food was good although the chicken in beer sauce was not quite what was expected. Beer is 7 euros for half a litre. Ouch.
Good restaurant. The witch-themed décor (“sorcières”) was super original and gave the place a fun vibe. We tried the “Assiette d’Estaminet – un peu de tout” and it was a great way to taste a bit of everything from the region. We were happy with the food and the atmosphere. Definitely a nice spot to try!
Visited this place after going through the review. Of the restaurants visited so far, this one stands out as the interiors was quite different from rest of all. The owner seem to like the witches a lot as you could see many different types across the place and a big one on the way to washroom. Very old and nice look inside.
Food is simple and fresh, very limited vegetarian options so we were disappointed with what we ate. Not sure about other food options (non veg). Many varieties of beer and local appetizers available with reasonable price. Child menu for kids also available.

If you want to taste food typical from the north this is the place to visit in Dunkerque. The service was really nice, people warm and welcoming and the whole place has its own style and look that must be experienced.

I booked a table for 8 people who came over on the Dunkirk little ships. We were delayed on sitting down but the restaurant took that in their stride.
There were some unusual requests for drinks and food and the staff were amazing never moaned and managed to fulfil our requests.
The restaurant was absolutely packed but the food was delicious and service was outstanding. Would highly recommend.

My mother and I came here on our visit to Dunkirk / Dunkerque, as the staff at our hotel recommended this place.
It was an easy walk here, as the restaurant is fairly centrally situated. It's not exactly central to the city but it's pretty close. I wasn't feeling too adventurous food-wise so I ordered something simple (The Welsh Jambon) and was fairly happy with it. It wasn't mind blowing but it was decent, and I really loved the atmosphere here. I rounded up the experience with a little espresso and was overall happy with the meal.
If I return to Dunkerque, then I would likely return to this restaurant.
It's a really nice place to go with your girlfriend or even your friends.

La Cambuse is a Ch'tis gastronomy restaurant, the specialty of northern France. You will taste dishes with Maroilles cheese as ingredients. You'll eat dishes typical of the northern region of France and will also discover the beers of the region. The restaurant is located in the port area of Dunkirk. It has a very original architecture and interior decorations and a friendly dining room. It's unique in its design in the world. The owner-manager and her team are friendly and welcoming. The service is almost fast. The value for money, there's nothing to say. Don't hesitate to park in the port car park because the restaurant is located just behind the port building.

Visited La Cambuse for a quick dinner. I tried the local dish Carbonade flamande (originally Belgian) dish which was good. I had tried that before in Belgium and here it was slightly different, with pieces of tender meat being bigger than usual. The atmosphere inside is very interesting, there are containers that are part of decor. The restaurant has a marine theme inside. Good for group dinners and drinks. Location wise it is waterfront which is an additional benefit.
Very friendly staff in a quite unique restaurant, with cargo containers and an old Citroën van as part of the decoration. Our waitress spoke fluent English and gave us good recommendations about what to try. The restaurant got quite crowded within minutes, no wonder as food and drinks are really spot on. Thanks again for the pleasant stay!
I booked this restaurant for 9 people it was part of the 85th anniversary of the Dunkirk little ships. Some of the party were delayed as the were on boats. The staff were extremely understanding about this and didn't complain.
There were also some unusual requests for drinks and the staff didn't bat an eyelid and were super helpful. I couldn't compliment them enough.
All of the food was delicious and well flavoured and great portions.
The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was packed i would highly recommend.

The restaurant was bad to put it simply. We arrived and not one of the three staff at the bar cared one bit. When a table of four arrived after us, someone came to welcome them and seat them while we had already been waiting there for 5-10min. Time to eat, The food was bad and took way too long to arrive. Meat was not edible, too chewy like a leather sole.
We chose the EUR 25.00 set menu which was excellent and very good value. There is only one choice of starter, main and dessert (although they will offer a Dame Blanche ice cream as an alternative to the desert). Kids menu is EUR 10.00 including a main course, dessert and drink.

We arrive at almost 2130 without reservation and they still manage to serve us.

Not enough stars. This place is amazing. Family run with young front of house staff. Seafood cocktail was the best I've ever eaten. Simmental steak. On research a Swiss cow roaming. Lean and delicious steak knives are not given or needed. The best food and ambience I've experienced in years.

We found this out of the way little french restaurant and it was delightful. There is a great seafood cassoulet, and plenty of other wholesome and good salads, starters, etc. We got there a bit late, and the family that ran it basically ate their dinner in the dining room with us. Good ambiance, very nice people that run the place. Serves belgian beers, too.

This time we had some time to spare our calais crossing and decided to visit Dunkirk. This restaurant was highly recommended and featured in the Michelin guide so we gave it a shot. Very happy we did. Excellent food and friendly attentive service. Worth visiting if in town for a short or long visit. We booked online, the experience was quick and painless. Across the street from a retro/speak easy style sports bar where we had international beers beforehand. Good starting location. Both venues have seats in the evening sun.

The Butter Chicken is SO delicious. We tried this restaurant for the first time a few days ago and were very pleased with the food that we had for take out! Butter Chicken, Rice (saffron and cumin) and Cheese Naan! We will definitely be back!

Indian food in France is incomparable, and therefore this rating is already down two stars for being a poor imitation of good food.
That being said, as far as French "Indian" food goes, Le Taj Mahal provides an acceptabley varied menu produced to a fine quality.
I have never received a curry from Le Taj Mahal that has been spicy, despite requesting regularly for extra levels of hotness and spice. Even their Vindaloo, which is supposed to be polluted with spice, feels a little weak. I completely recognise that this issue is due to being tailored to local majority-white French populace, but it is still unfortunate.
As far as curry available in France goes, this is average. I would never go out of my way to eat here over trying somewhere new, but it can sometimes tickle a craving so long as your standards aren't too high.
Nice food. Chicken tikka was good, the naan & butter naan. The biryani was not great. Over all was food was nice but a bit pricey.

Nice beachside spot with a great location right in front of the sea. The staff were kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed the moules-frites, but the charcuterie platter was just average. Still, a good place to relax and enjoy the view!
Fantastic evening at the “Brasserie de la plage”. The shrimp's croquettes, chicken curry, welsh, and mussels were excellent. The french fries were very good, and combined with the “sauce au maroilles”, it was absolutely delicious!
The owner Daniel, his spouse Sylvie and the manager Jimmy, are super nice, welcoming and friendly.
Tagliatelle avec salmon: 18,90 euro for a small plate and the pieces of salmon(?) were drenched in sauce. Bad choise.
All the restaurants along the beach front were closing but this one took pity on us and let us in for lunch, even though they were obviously on the verge of closing. I had the best mussels I've had in Dunkerque with excellent frites and homemade mayonnise. My husband had a Carbonade Flamande which he declared was also excellent.
Good food, great service and generally a nice place on the Dunkirk boulevard and not expensive. Good beer/wine selection. All day food service which is a huge plus! Most restaurants close the kitchen between 13.30-19 hrs. I would recommend this brasserie over all other restaurants on the boulevard!
We had the Moules, the Salmon Tagliatelle and the Fish Salad and all were very tasty. We enjoyed it so much we forgot to take pictures.
Mixed feelings. The first time we visited just for an aperitif. Lovely location right on the beach. Adults can sit on the deckchairs, kids can play on the beach. So if you just want to have a drink on a beach then it's fine and they have a happy hour between 5-6 pm (Spritz at €5).
We then tried to visit at 3pm for lunch. The customer in front of us was told that there was no food left. She was a regular customer because the manager (a young man, not very polite) called her by her first name and said: "Yes, but nobody eats at 3pm".
My wife then asked if there were any small things left to eat, having seen around 10 croque monsieurs on a chopping board seemingly ready to cook, and she was also told that there was nothing left. As she turned to leave the young manager told a colleague in frustration "how many more times do I have to tell people that there is nothing left to eat".
Went for an October early evening light supper. Had the most delicious plain omelette with chips, salad and mixed vegetables. Delicious - perfect texture, proper chips (not fast food-style skinny ones), good salad and excellent veg. Prepared with real care. Would love to go back when I'm after a fuller meal. Couldn't have asked for better. Nice, clean decor, too. And a sea view!

We were strolling down the main boardwalk and dropped in to eat and have something to drink around 5:30. There were no ‘reserved ‘ signs on any table so we sat down at a small table for two in a shaded area of the terrace. After being ignored for around 10 minutes the waitress came, took our order of water and a G&T. We were looking at the menu ready to order when we were informed that we can’t stay as our table was reserved for dinner guests at 7:00 pm. We could have easily eaten and left before 7:00 but the staff told us in so many words that we could not. A French couple next to us clearly ordered food during the time we spent there so evidently they discriminated us because we spoke English? We were ready to leave and my husband went to use the bathroom and one of the staff members ( a quite heavyset, darker coloured man who was not even dressed like the rest of the staff, walked by our table while I was still sitting there waiting for my husband to come back). He just suddenly slammed the ‘reserved’ sign on the table and startled me. He could have said ‘excuse me can I place this sign on the table ‘ ? Anyway this was a bad experience and as a tourist I can’t recommend this place to anyone.

Best restaurant in all of Dunkirk. We ordered mussels and a cote d'los, and everything was delicious. The staff and owners were simply fantastic. We're Belgian, and they even spoke basic Dutch. When I went to pay, I realized I'd been charged one beer too little. I reported it, and they said it was their mistake and that it was on the house. I 100% recommend this restaurant for both the atmosphere and the food.

We went the next day for lunch of burgers 🍔 and crepes as well. The food quality overall was delicious and quantity was good for the money (€8-€10 per person). The staff is friendly too.
The price is low but the breakfast is also of a low standard. Cold bacon, cold beans and cold sausages are not for me. It looked like an appetising English breakfast but I didn't like it because it was cold. The waiting time was also too long. The proprietor was exceptional, friendly, authentically Italian, and making the pizzas himself. The gentleman who took our order was very kind and helpful, even with our English/French language barrier.
The prices are incredible, my kids were pleased with the kids meals (it included a treat!) and mine and my husbands meal for 2 was split on 2 plates and included a drink.
