Modern British restaurant
French restaurant
Mortimers, a charming restaurant located in Ludlow, offers a classic high-end dining experience with exceptional cuisine crafted by renowned chef Wayne Smith. The venue has had its ups and downs over the years but has found stability under Wayne's leadership since 2015. The historic interiors provide a unique atmosphere for enjoying modern and artfully presented dishes. With a strong culinary lineage, including previous establishments like Hibiscus and La Becasse, Mortimers promises an unforgettable dining experience.
My wife and I ventured here for our wedding anniversary meal. We often to fine dining experiences / usually Michelin starred. What a lovely setting in the heart of Ludlow, really love the wood panels and the feel of the dining and reception rooms. Super attentive and friendly staff who clearly love working there too! We opted for the main menu rather than the tasting menu… pleased we did the Beef and the Duck were out of this world! And my special no goats cheese board was lovely as well! We will be back being relatively close by, really surprised they no longer have a star in my opinion!

We were fortunate to be in a position of being able to treat ourselves to a once in a lifetime event; fine dining in a Michelin starred restaurant. We were the only diners that night which meant that we had private service. The service was personal and excellent. We elected to try the taster menu @ £85 per head for 7 dishes. The food itself was nice but not outstanding with the exception of the beef dish which was delicious. I’ve included the menu and some sample dishes on the night. Would we go again - no. The food was lovely but the evening was breathtakingly expensive paying over £12 for an alcohol free G&T and a mandatory service charge of £32 for the 2 of us. We had little change from £300 and whilst we expected to pay a lot more for the ‘occasion’, we were shocked. Does it need to be prohibitively expensive ? Yes you are paying for fine dining and yes we went for the taster menu but I’m sure they would attract more customers if they were a bit more grounded and realistic with the pricing. £32 service charge for 2 people on a quiet night ? Finally, we hoped that ‘chef’ would make an appearance on the night given we were the only customers. How was your meal ?, where have you travelled from ?. Sadly no, we never saw ‘chef’ which we think was a missed opportunity on their behalf.
Jeff M — Google review
It didn’t meet expectations. We had the tasting menu, which took almost three hours. There are some great dishes, some ok ones, but also a deceiving one, so it’s an up-and-down menu. Older menu pictures look pretty similar, so you’d expect bullet-proof flavours and execution, but it's not quite there. The first two dishes were lovely. The duck had terrific elements like the parfait, but the crispy skin tasted stale fat. The sea trout was perfectly cooked, but the vegetables didn't integrate. The beef was amazingly tender, and the burnt shallots were a good complement, but the confit onion mash was too thick and not very flavourful. The first dessert was a mystery: a simple and muted vanilla ice cream with blackberries, a pistachio ice cream and a cake that didn't combine with the other elements. The chocolate and hazelnut dessert returned to a good level, so we had a good taste to end with. It is a good restaurant, for sure, and the service is fabulous, but we had better food —or at least as good— at other restaurants in Ludlow for less than half the price, so it would not be my first option when coming back to Ludlow.
Guillermo Y — Google review
We both loved the 5 course tasting menu, and will definitely be back for more. Really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the informal but attentive staff. The food was wonderful, particularly the lamb. Thoroughly recommend!
M W — Google review
Was looking forward to this but felt a little bit jipped as the Taste of Mortimers menu was a course (and matching wine) smaller than what was advertised on the website & price of the food was the same and matching wine was £5 more. Food was beautifully presented and generally tasty. But I was disappointed from the start and I wasn't able to shake the feeling.
Kathryn D — Google review
We went to Mortimers to celebrate my partner's birthday. The food was absolutely delicious, high quality and presented beautifully. I just wished we lived closer as we'd be regulars here. Best meal we've had in a while!
Elena G — Google review
Fantastic evening of superb food and drink, celebrating with friends after a long time apart. We booked the private dining room at the back of the restaurant. Everyone loved the tasting menu, most had the accompanying wines. We liked the service which was really friendly, smooth, relaxed and unobtrusive, never waiting or wanted for anything (and they even let us put on our own music in the background, in our own room. Which was a nice touch). Here are few pictures of what we had. The food was lovely, from bread (so delicious and warm! ) and opening snacks right though to the Dessert, cheese course, coffee and petit fours. Go and enjoy a lovely night out!

Pub

Restaurant
Nestled in the historic heart of Ludlow, The Queens is a delightful family-run pub that exudes charm and warmth. Housed in an inn dating back to the 1840s, it offers a cozy atmosphere where visitors can savor home-cooked meals made from locally sourced ingredients. The vaulted ceiling restaurant provides stunning views over Ludford, while the inviting bar serves up a selection of real ales.
Really great service, they gave us a lovely welcome. We had a dog so we’re seated in the bar area, restaurant was full anyway. Nice menu and tasty food (steak and pie and chips. Crumble and custard for pud was amazing too!). Would definite again. Thanks!
Louise R — Google review
Wow just wow food great the politeness of the bar staff was superb. Dogs welcome in the bar area. Boy did our dog get spoiled the locals were lovely. Clean tables with a old feel to the place and yes would go back if ever on our holidays here again.

Went here today, 03/10/25. Unfortunately, last day of holiday. Wished we had found this earlier in the week. All I can say is, food amazing, staff lovely and welcoming, and the bonus of being dog friendly. Keep up the good work guys, you deserve all the credit.

Up there with one of the best pub Sunday roasts we have eaten . We stayed in Ludlow last night, stayed at the Downton lodge where the food was exceptional . I’m only saying this as I wanted to share how good this pub food was . We had the mixed meat roast each and have to say it was delicious. Also my partner is very fond of bloody Mary’s , apparently one of the best she’s had also . The manager/ owner Jane was absolutely lovely , very professional and attentive to every need , the staff were also attentive , Thankyou Sue for helping us . We had a lovely chilled afternoon and definately will return to Ludlow and the queens .
Perry A — Google review
I didn’t stay the night here but I ate dinner in the pub. I don’t normally leave reviews but it was so nice that I had to comment. I only had one course, the pan fried sea bass with the sides but it all had such a nice flavour and was so carefully done that I really had to write this. I didn’t try any other dishes as I was quite full by the end but I’d fully recommend that.
Ayesha H — Google review
Just had a most delicious Sunday lunch. A plateful of tender, lean, roast beef cooked to perfection. Superb cooked vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and wonderful gravy. Excellent service and great value.

We were staying In Ludlow for a week and ate here twice. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

We came to the area for a few days from Wales and found this lovely pub in Ludlow. The Sunday dinner was superb, best one we've had in a good while (Cobblestones in Dunster is the best!) We brought out spaniel who also was welcomed and enjoyed. Great choice of local beers and ales to boot!

Bistro
French restaurant
The French Pantry is a charming brasserie located in a historic market town. The proprietors, Olivier & Lynette Bossut, have expanded their offerings with the addition of Marmalade, a cafe and deli next door. The atmosphere exudes the ambiance of a traditional French bistro, offering unpretentious and enjoyable dining experiences. The menu features classic French dishes served in generous portions.
What a fantastic place, make sure you bring a big appetite. I had the ham hock terrine followed by beef bourguign (with black pudding) . So good, you have to visit.
Richard H — Google review
What a treat. It's a pricey restaurant but matched by the quality. The venison loin was some of the most delicious meat I've had. The garlic potatoes were great too. The cassoulet was filthy. So. Much. Meat. Really delicious. Good wine menu, but probably not the best wine we've had at the price point.
Craig J — Google review
Came here on our last night in Ludlow on the August bank holiday Monday and it was an absolute gem! We ordered the three course menu, the French onion soup was hearty and warming and the poached pear with Roquefort was fresh and delicious. The main courses came in very generous portions, the cassoulet was packed full of meat and beans and the ox cheek bourgignon was rich and incredibly tasty. For dessert we had the French classics - crème brulée and tarte Tatin and they were both amazing! Paired with a bottle of the Beaujolais this was by far the best meal we had during our stay in Ludlow. A special shout-out to the lad who served us (think his name was Dom?) who did an incredible job! Thank you for a lovely evening and we shall hopefully be returning very soon.
James E — Google review
Had to write a review after a pretty much perfect dinner. The food at the French Pantry was sublime – probably the best venison I've ever eaten and the desserts were next-level. A small and unassuming interior with a warm and relaxed atmosphere, hosted by a very charming server who made us feel very at home. Such a great spot for an evening meal if you're staying in town – I wish we lived closer and could return sooner, but we've recommended it to all our nearby friends!

*Restaurant Review: French Pantry, Ludlow* Stepping into @thefrenchpantryludlow in Ludlow, we immediately felt the quaint charm of this delightful French bistro. Our visit was a bit impromptu, but luck was on our side. After leaving our number, we were fortunate enough to secure a table for lunch. Given its limited seating, we’d strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. ⭐️5/5 Recommended👍🏻 Price 💸💸 Starters What else would you choose to start in a French bistro other than the classic French Onion Soup?Complete with crispy croutons and melted cheese, this soup was everything we could imagine and more, a perfect appetizer or a light lunch on its own. Ooo la la! Main Courses We stuck to traditional French dishes with Moules Marinière accompanied by French fries and crusty bread. The portion of mussels was so generous that even between the two of us, we couldn’t finish it all. The garlic cream sauce with shallots was a delight, and the crusty bread was ideal for mopping up every last drop. Venison served with garlic potatoes and a green pepper sauce. Rich and hearty, this dish was a true winner, and the garlic potatoes were a must-try. The French Pantry boasts a charming and quirky interior that perfectly complements the historic atmosphere of Ludlow. It’s a small, charming restaurant that offers a cozy dining experience. In summary, our visit to the French Pantry was a delightful culinary adventure, and we can’t wait to return. Bon appétit! 🍷🍴 #theshropshirefoodies

Buzzy french restaurant even on a week day lunchtime. Food was very nice, we had the meat and cheese platter (amazing cheese), bourgignon and duck with truffle sauce. All very tasty. What was annoying was that we couldn't leave a tip on a card, which in this day and age is a problem as most of us don't carry cash. This must reduce the possible tips for staff considerably... Which isn't great when you've had a nice meal!
Lisa D — Google review
Such a fabulous restaurant, the food was so good we immediately made a reservation for later in the week. Seriously some of the best good we have eaten in the uk. Service impeccable and the red wine we choose was perfect. Great portions too. Photos: mackerel starter. Wine. Pate starter. (Mains were venison and beef cheek bourguignon. Prev. meal; crab. Cod cheeks. Cassoulet. Duck. Recommend all!)
Jaki W — Google review
The French Pantry is an absolute gem. The food was amazing and the people were warm and welcoming. You might need to be a little patient, as it’s a small kitchen, but it’s absolutely worth it. As a French person, I can say the gastronomy here is truly authentic. We had the bouillabaisse as a starter – so good – followed by poulet basquaise and magret de canard, both absolutely délicieux. The team were wonderful too. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Nestled like a charming beach hut, The Fish House is a delightful seafood haven run by Lou Hackney, whose family has been in the fishmongery business since the 1940s. This unique spot offers an inviting atmosphere where you can savor fresh seafood while enjoying the lively ambiance of locals and their furry friends. Whether you choose to dine on their terrace or at one of the cozy barrel tables inside, you're in for a treat with their renowned seafood platters that are simply irresistible.
I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I visited today and as a wheelchair user they couldn’t have been more helpful to me. Even bringing out a huge umbrella in case it rained (it didn’t). The food was first class, all the seafood was so fresh and delicious as was the fresh bread. It was decidedly yummy! The staff were friendly and helpful and I urge anyone visiting Ludlow to visit here; you won’t regret it!
June M — Google review
Well to start the oysters were fabulously huge and delicious . But the platter lacked any langoustines or king prawn , just Lille cold water prawns . It was the outdoor seating that was the main problem . On such a beautiful day we wanted to sit outside . But those benches are killers , for the back and having a table on an incline was a constant battle to keep the food on the table . You want to sit and relax and eat not have to keep shifting due to being so uncomfortable. Change your seating , and add a couple of decent size prawns please and we would return .
Travelling T — Google review
We have just had the top of the range meal today, three tiers of seafood, whole lobster, whole dressed crab, gravalax salmon, cooked salmon, smoked trout, sliced tuna, crevettes, prawns, shrimps, huge shell on king prawns, anchovies in chilli oil, mixed seafood in herb oil, samphire, chilli dip wedges of fresh lemon and chunks of cob bread. This was a meal for 4 people and was £100 set price. This, obviously, is £25 each and trust me, there is more than enough food for 4. The staff are wonderful....one lovely lady. This is a wet fish shop with 4 tables for food, it is also licensed, we had a delightful Chardonnay. You MUST BOOK, you will not get in otherwise.
Carolyn S — Google review
What a gem a fishmonger who not only sells a great range of fish and crustaceans but also has a dining service. Seating inside is limited and there is some seating outside. If you enjoy seafood then this is the place for you. Great selection and very reasonable prices. We had oysters and some of the best I have tasted
Alan G — Google review
Absolutely fabulous experience from start to finish. The extensive choice of menu along with excellent platters is wonderful. Super opportunity to sit in and enjoy the ambience of The Fish House . Would certainly be back.

We had late lunch here. Lovely people, great food and wine. Excellent value. We had smoked fish platter to share.
Ian G — Google review
Having eaten in here a few times, we ordered the Deluxe platter as a takeaway to share with friends (£120 and worth every penny), this fed 6 comfortably, my only criticism was there was no bread supplied, fortunately for us my friend had made some just in case. Would I order again most definitely.

The Church Inn is a historic pub and guesthouse located in the heart of Ludlow, Shropshire. Housed in a Grade II listed building dating back to the 14th century, it exudes warmth and character. The inn offers a selection of hand-picked local ales and serves pub fare in its bar/restaurant. The modern guestrooms are spacious, some even featuring balconies.
Had lunch at the Church Inn and it was wonderful. This is a really well-run gaff with top-notch food and a great array of choice. Staff were friendly, efficient and rather lovely too. It has pub classics - pies, fish & chips, etc. - but one or two seasonal and French-inspired dishes. Like the pea ravioli I had with asparagus, broad beans, butter... you get the idea! The one criticism is a minor one. The Rum Baba needed more of a rum kick! That aside, no complaints from any of us! 5* nosh. Happy to recommend The Church especially given its central location. Will return soon!

Sunday Lunch. Nut roast was excellent. A really lovely plate of food. Very happy campers with a pint of Ludlow brewery ale. Sat upstairs with nice view of church and houses. A really well run place. Clean and the gents are well worth a visit just to see the urinals and instructions.
Tim P — Google review
I didn't stay here. I came to the restaurant and had dinner on a Sunday night. The food and wines were excellent. I really enjoyed my starter of Chicken liver parfait, and I was bowled over by my mains of roast pork, with five wonderfully prepared vegetables crowned by a huge yorkshire pudding. I have to say that it has been a long time since I have savoured British food this good. Most impressed. Recommend highly!
Dominic D — Google review
We normally love to come here to sit in the church beer garden under old trees. Lovely venue. We've never used it as hotel and cannot comment on the rooms. We have also not tried the food. It's great for drinks usually but this was a busy weekend with performances at the castle and a lot of visitors. Most places were prepared for it and so they should be. They knew what to expect. Unfortunately bar staff were slow and not very efficient. A lot of time wasted to queue for drinks so we only stayed for one. The queue was so long and annoyingly, people kept dropping in from the street, ignoring the queue and ordered directly at the bar. Staff didn't react or direct them to the queue which was really annoying so we had to say something. Poorly managed. Otherwise nice place.
Cloud — Google review
Why it wasn't 5 for location was because of being next to big church with bells going off from 7am in morning. But if you're a heavy sleeper no problem. Great rooms, so tidy! Would definitely stay there again if I went back to Ludlow.
Phill P — Google review
Didn’t stay here, just had an evening meal, which was…..genuinely, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The starters were amazing and the mains were amazing. Could not fault this food at all. It was well presented and tasted phenomenal. There were 3 of us in total. We had starters of: slow roasted belly draught bites, cheese soufflé and fish cakes in a Thai Red curry sauce. They were all so tasty, words cannot describe how good the cheese soufflé was For mains, we had: Steak and ale pie, chicken cordon bleu Caesar salad and chips and pumpkin with squash tortellini, all of which were to die for
Mike F — Google review
Staff managed to find the two of us a table to eat - we hadn’t booked ahead - thank you. It was mussels night and I thoroughly enjoyed them - my wife had the pea ravioli and it was lovely. Beer was nice and the staff made time to interact with us during our meal and drinks ordering. A great find and we were glad we walked through their doors!!!!
Nick M — Google review
What a very nice place to visit, staff all very good and helpful. Lack of parking here at this Inn, but there is a carpark about 400 yards away where you can leave your car, it is very safe also. All in all a very good experience with our stay in The Church.

Aragon's in Ludlow is a delightful gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Nestled in the heart of the town, this cafe/restaurant boasts an extensive menu that makes choosing your meal a delicious challenge. Diners rave about the high-quality dishes, such as their homemade fish finger sandwich paired with indulgent dirty fries topped with pulled pork and barbecue sauce—truly a feast for the senses! The portions are generous, making it feel like a culinary adventure worthy of 'Man vs Food.'
Had breakfast here on the Sunday morning, after a wonderful weekend stay in ludlow. fantastic choice of food on the menu, I went for the medium-sized full English, with extra beans and black pudding my wife had the eggs benedict, both of which were lovely. The Place was clean and cosy with the staff very friendly and welcoming, service was top notch, we will be back.

Staff are very polite and efficient, atmosphere is lovely, calm and inviting, food was 10/10! You’re able to swap anything you don’t want on the breakfasts for other things which helps when you’re a picky eater! Definitely recommend, located right by the castle too. So a great way to start your day out. We had the “Ave you the time” Breakfasts

A wide ranging menu for people of all different ages and appetites! Was recommended this place by people at the most excellent Tuck Shop also in town. It was busy at noon on the dot. We were asked to return in 15 mins and they put aside a table for us once previous customers had left. An hour later we left feeling very well nourished! Great food, good location, good vibe (as our kids say) and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
Mark H — Google review
Came here as part of a large group for breakfast and we were welcomed warmly. Service was excellent throughout, as was the food quality. I chose the Anytime breakfast for £11:99, but found the portion size to be measly. I don’t think I’ve ever had a fry up with just one rasher of bacon before, plus a small sausage. Yes, I could have ordered a bigger option but I’ve always found ‘standard’ breakfasts to be sufficient. I also thought that they must be slightly understaffed as the clearing of dirty tables wasn’t quick, with some customers taking the matter into their own hands. I would return, but better options in Ludlow are available.
David S — Google review
Disappointing. Usually enjoy lunches here but today the service was poor. Not checked up on to see if we were enjoying our food and then when we'd finished we were just handed the £51 bill! Not asked if everything was alright with our meals - and look at what we left! You can get a nicer pizza from the supermarket. The pizza here was thick and chewy - not crispy at all. It also was just mozzarella, (no cheddar) so it has very little flavour.

Called in after visiting Ludlow Castle and wasn’t disappointed. I ordered the Steak Pie and it was delicious. Rest of the family enjoyed their food too. Service was really good too. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Spent a couple of days here, perfect for a birthday celebration. Great location with views over the river from the Othello room. Booked a table in the restaurant for our second night. Great location, overhanging the river in Ludlow, a fantastic old historic town. Food was wonderful, and our whole party of 8 had both dinner and breakfast here on a directors away trip. Owners very much involved and have done a great job of rebuilding this lovely old hotel, restaurant and pub.
Steve M — Google review
We had a lovely stay at The Charlton Arms Hotel after a day at the races. The food was absolutely superb, definitely 5 stars without a doubt. We were a large party and shared a good selection of the starter and main menu. It was all fantastic. The highlight for me was a chicken and duck wellington which I'm still day dreaming about. Breakfast was also excellent and our whole party agreed it's somewhere we will try and meet at again. Hopefully next year. There was a slight misunderstanding with our bill, which was quickly sorted by the friendly staff, but that is the reasoning behind 4 not 5 stars on service. It's a lovely old building with lots of nice nooks and crannies to explore. My room was relatively small for a twin bed room, but the decor was nice and everything worked well. This place is definitely worth a visit, the spot on the river in what is a lovely market town is beautiful. The food (& this is my second visit almost ten years apart) is fantastic.

Loved this place , sitting in the restaurant next to the river within 10 mins we saw a dipper , kingfisher. Water rail , mergansers , the food was fantastic we had duck wellington, honey glazed carrots with delphinoir potatoes and a bottle red wine , the food was amazing seriously good , loads of parking spaces breakfast was really good , my only gripe would be check in 3pm checking out 10.30am it needs to be 11 min but i will definitely be going back 100% stopped here 11/10/2025

Dined for friends’ birthdays at lunchtime. Booked based on location and reviews but hadn’t eaten here before. What a joy, attentive service, lovely food beyond the norm, convivial surroundings, relaxed and relaxing with great views of the river. Worth every penny. Will definitely be back, probably to stay in their well appointed rooms and to enjoy the excellent dining experience again.

Great location for a meal or just a drink, overlooking the river Teme. Good size car park at the rear. Nice walks along the river heading North towards the castle. When we visited recently the service was not brilliant and coffees also below par. I have been before however and service was fine, so perhaps just inconsistent.

SEE MY RESPONE TO MANAGEMENT'S REPLY BELOW: My wife, daughter and I visited the Charlton Arms yesterday for the first (and definitely the last) time. The pub has a lovely setting, but the way we were treated by the staff was nothing short of disgraceful. We ordered drinks and asked politely if there were any tables for dinner. One member of staff said she’d check, only for another to cut across and insist they were “fully booked.” Even though when walking through almost the entire pub and restaurant it was clear it was empty bar two or three tables. Fair enough though, we thought, if they tell us they are booked we can take our drinks to enjoy the view instead. From then on it was a shambles. We tried the terrace (full), then a downstairs room by the river, only to be barked at across the room that we couldn’t sit there because it was “the restaurant.” We then moved again to a large table in the pub area, which another staff member had told us was fine. Ten minutes later, we overheard them taking a phone booking for 8pm that very evening. So clearly, they weren’t “fully booked” as we’d been told but nobody had bothered to offer us that option. At this point, my wife went to complain to the bar staff while I dealt with the constant interruptions at our table. One staff member came to tell me we had to move as the table was “reserved.” I explained we would finish our drinks first. Barely 30 seconds later, another arrived to repeat the same demand, harassing us to move yet again. I asked to speak to the manager. Of course, none was available. By now we had been pushed from one table to the next, lied to about availability, and treated with rudeness throughout. Only when I demanded a refund for our drinks did they begrudgingly hand back the money and only then muttered a half-hearted “sorry.” The two bar staff stood there staring at us, making it abundantly clear from their expressions that they saw us as “difficult,” when in fact it was their behaviour that was completely unacceptable. We left feeling we weren’t wanted there at all. Was it because we’re not locals? Because my wife and daughter are Brazilian? I can’t say for certain but the dismissive, almost hostile treatment certainly suggested something more than simple incompetence!! For a pub trading on its reputation and setting, the Charlton Arms should be absolutely ashamed of the way its staff behaved. Rude, dishonest, and unwelcoming. I strongly urge the manager to take responsibility, reply to this review, and overhaul their staff’s attitude - because right now, this place is a textbook example of how to drive customers away! EDIT – IN RESPONSE TO MANAGEMENT'S REPLY: Management claim they were “fully booked,” yet we clearly overheard and they confirmed they took a phone booking for 8pm that same evening. We arrived at 6.30pm hoping to eat and should have been told that a later table was available, giving us the option to wait with drinks. Instead, we were dismissed outright. The suggestion of “confusion” is misleading. There were no reserved signs, no apology, and no clear guidance the staff simply barked at us and repeatedly harassed us to move, despite seeing us settle at the table. Their approach was rude and entirely avoidable. To be clear the refund was not offered; I had to demand it twice before it was grudgingly agreed to. To present this as goodwill is untrue and insulting, especially given the humiliating way we were treated in front of our young daughter. Finally, my wife was treated with noticeably less courtesy than I was when she questioned the booking contradiction. Management’s blanket denial of discrimination does not reflect our experience at all. That kind of unequal treatment is not something you can brush aside by simply “rejecting” the suggestion. The bottom line: the experience was appalling, the response from Management here is very disingenuous, and I stand by every word of my original review!

Very nice. Lovely food. The decor creates an authentic atmosphere. Great service. Will visit again. My Auntie loves it here.

Have been a couple of times and the first time had a great experience when they were doing thai style kebabs. The second time we went to the restaurant and had chicken stay which was OK, but not nearly enough satay about the amount of one bit of chicken rather than 4. Had sticky rice and the new beef main. Which was ok in flavour but not outstanding.

I could have stayed here for hours! The atmosphere in the bar was super relaxed... Lots of unusual art, some from a local artist, and little starry lights gave it all a warm glow. Tables, chairs, barstools and sofas give you plenty of seating options. The staff were all friendly, inviting and attentive. We had a nice tapas platter to start and a main meal each, all packed full of flavour and hot. All topped off with some rather delicious dessert cocktails. Fab evening with the hubby whilst visiting Ludlow.

This was my first experience of dining in a restaurant, under the 'Eat Out to Help Out Scheme' introduced by the government. It was only possible to reserve a table for lunchtime on Tuesday 18th - evenings were fully booked out. There was outdoor seating which was decently spaced out. I ordered the Pad Thai (main) with Tofu and a starter of Spring Rolls (vegetable), all served on the same plate. A Chang-style lager went well with it. I think this is the best Thai Meal I have tasted for a while; the restaurant is worth another visit and I will try out the other meals :)

We were recommended this place by locals so we’re trying it out. Very central location tucked away along a side street, with great bar and indoor/outdoor eating areas. Lots of lush planting in the spacious outdoor eating area. Food: prawn skewers excellent. Thai salad super-fresh but is properly spicy-hot!! (Be warned!). Sundays is a relaxed outdoor barbecue. Friendly service. Definitely recommended. And we haven’t even had our main course yet (Meat Platter, in case you’re wondering!).

English restaurant
Parkway Tasca Bar is a family-run restaurant, tapas wine bar, and coffee house located in the medieval town of Ludlow. It offers a blend of authentic Spanish cuisine and high-quality English food. Visitors praise the establishment for its fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu features a variety of tapas dishes that are highly recommended, with particular highlights being chickpea & chorizo and chicken in wine & garlic.
Felt every bit as authentic as actually being in Spain (apart from the weather, though a couple of people were sat outside). The pokiness only added to the atmosphere and the background music was delightful. And then there was the food. We shared some tapas and they were all delicious. Would certainly recommend, though the specials board shouldn't be overlooked. Not a wide selection of beers apparent but the bottled Estrella Damm was excellent. Service was friendly and various notices dotted around highlighted a few noteworthy values, like cash preferred (though card payments are accepted) and supporting the local economy. Hats off to this, I'd say.

I found this place on maps while visiting Ludlow Castle. Despite the small number of people inside we waited about 40 minutes for our order (for which we were apologized for). The food was generally tasty, the tortilla was very good, but everything was quite greasy. I expected it to be a place with a Spanish atmosphere, but unfortunately it is not at all. The decoration is inconsistent and not very nice.
Zuzanna — Google review
Came across this place and was quite excited with the menu offering Tapas. Unfortunately I wish I hadn't bothered, to say that it was awful doesn't go far enough. I could sense that the staff were stressed by the way they were quite short with customers but I tried to lighten the conversation by asking if they'd been busy. We ordered some tapas and our drinks were brought out. We waited a little while for food but wasn't overly concerned as we were enjoying the visit to Ludlow. The tapas came out after the waiting staff had chased the order up. I queried the missing bread and then 2 slices of Warburtons(staff words) arrived not very Spanish, they had run out. The portions were small but again not too concerned about that. But on finishing my partner pointed out some hairs on the dishes. In fact there were lots of them, I felt sick. What sort of kitchen do they run to serve food in such a disgusting way. Others customers had the same. I would describe the hair as white cats hair. I still feel one in my throat. I left £10 to cover the drinks and heaved my way out of the door never to step in again, whilst voices were raised in the kitchen, what a horrid place.

Located in the centre of town off a street in a small alleyway. Sat downstairs. Good selection of tapas. Lacked atmosphere due to being very quiet. No Spanish beers available. Food was served quickly and tasted nice.

The food was authentic and of trencher proportions. The Paella, both types, were outstanding as was the Sangria. Such a change to get it made to the correct recipe, you could tell by the kick it had!! As to the two poor reviews all I can say is the stairs were clean as was the toilet when my wife used it tonight. Some people expect the Ritz at Cafe prices!!
Bob H — Google review
The food was absolutely disgusting. The tempura vegetables were inedible, and the chicken sauce looked like cornflour mixed with water. My daughter's meatballs were barely cooked. The owner seemed nice enough but it was my husband's birthday dinner and we were hugely disappointed. Also, by law, the food hygiene rating should be displayed- which we discovered afterwards was 1/5 🤮

I had fish pie and it was very, very good. Lots of filling, nice sauce and great mash topping. Mr P had fish and chips. We both enjoyed our food. Definitely somewhere we would return, maybe on a Saturday night when they have live music. Beautiful old building too.

Be warned that some of the rooms are directly over the bar and it is a loud pub staying open late. Noisy until 12.30am and then people going up and down the corridors until way into the early hours.

Stayed here in March and sadly, it wasn’t quite the cosy escape I’d hoped for. The whole place had a lingering smell of used oil that made it feel more like a chip shop than an inn. The mattress deserves a special mention – imagine lying on a pile of coat hangers and you’ll get the idea. Noise travels impressively well through the walls and floors; I felt like I was part of every conversation happening downstairs and next door. With a bit more TLC, it could be lovely, but it’s not somewhere I’d rush back to. Sorry

Visited Bill's Kitchen in Ludlow for a quick drink yesterday. Welcomed by a kind and amiable lady who served me. The assortment of homemade cakes presented a delightful dilemma; however, I settled on the scones. Succumbing to temptation, I also purchased a couple of additional cakes for later enjoyment, disregarding any dietary concerns. The scones were exceptional! They possessed an ideal texture - fluffy on the inside with a delectable crust on the outside.
Stopped for lunch on a day out. It’s the best food I’ve had in many years. I don’t eat meat so finding vegetarian good quality dishes is almost impossible. I had quiche with two side cold dishes and everything was just exquisite. The flavours and textures were excellent, I actually ended up buying the cookbook and will be trying to make those at home. This is how food should be when eating out.

The worst bacon bap I have ever had (and I've had a few!)...and the most expensive! We were stuck having been told at our 1st choice place they weren't doing breakfasts that day (!) So ended up here. I was shocked at the prices (£8.50 for a bacon bap) but thought it might be something special. It was shocking. My photo shows how much of the fatty streaky bacon had to cut off before being able to fill the bap with meat. It was awfully greasy and the brown bap was a dense,, hard bread....unsuited to bacon or sausage. The tea was also poor. Service? Well, judge for yourself; one assistant decided to take a long phone call whilst we stood waiting to be served...the other, altho seeing us, dashed off into the back. Returning 5mins later to serve us as the other was still engaged in 'phone chat'. Normally I'd pay about £4.95/5.95 for a baconbap (live in Yorkshire Dales)...and always well presented, well cooked and tasty. This place is taking the mick!

It's our regular visit here, Depending on the time of day the service can be slow and mess up with orders a couple of times we visit there! I love their lunch dish chicken and rice always it is my favourite, but on New Year's Day it was not what I was experiencing the rice was undercooked and soaking wet the ingredients did not blend into the rice and chicken... Can do with 15 minutes of cooking my son and I weren't happy about it we thought we could leave it, but too expensive to leave food behind, on our dish saved with green and an extra charge for 5 roast potatoes £14-15 dishes
Kwanruean G — Google review
Underwhelming. Despite pastries being on the breakfast menu my wife was told they wouldn't be available til later in the day. It's Saturday morning for goodness sake and one of only two establishments in Ludlow "serving" breakfast at "breakfast time" not after 0930 or later. My salmon and horseradish creme fresh came without the horseradish creme fresh. The excuse I was as given was some customers don't like it!! My roll was taken away and brought back with lashings of horseradish creme fresh but look messy and unappetising. I was hungry so I ate it. My decaf coffee was okay but I shan't be rushing back to any Bills establishments.

Kin Kitchen is a modern and bike-friendly cafe located in the heart of Ludlow, near the 11th-century castle. The emphasis here is on freshly cooked dishes and seasonal specials, along with unique homemade cakes and great coffee. The interior is clean, bright, and fresh. While it can get busy, making a reservation is worth it to avoid disappointment. The food is beautifully presented and very tasty according to visitors who had different items from the menu.
I had an absolutely fantastic lunch here with my partner. She had the veggie burger - a generous size with a lovely springy burger, fresh taste and generous on Halloumi with a lovely dressed salad and creamy coleslaw. Fresh and very tasty. I had the coconut and ginger daal which was beautifully spiced and warming, with coconut flakes, a fluffy naan and perfectly cooked cauliflower which added a buttery creaminess to it. The crispy kale on top could have been a bit crispier but was delicious. A drizzle of chutney or citrus for some acidity and tartness would have made this flawless. The drinks were lovely - a tart apple and damson juice that like everything here, is sourced locally. The quality of all ingredients was impeccable. Service was also excellent and the restaurant was roomy, light and rustic. The selection of deserts was fantastic and I wish we had been able to stay longer for one. We will both be back again!

Stylishly designed restaurant and beautiful walled garden at the back. The menu has lots to choose from! I ordered an iced latte and then later a dish of hummus with flat bread (side). We stopped in for a quick drink and a spot of lunch. The menu you in the alleyway mentioned a selection of loaded fries but only one type was available at the time. We went with the brisket loaded fries with cheese, a good portion size and quick service. Would highly recommend. I suspect it can get busy in there, and this isn't helped by a party of two deciding to sit on a table suited for six. Would definitely go back again.

Great Pizza, fresh ingredients nice an crispy homemade base. Friendly professional service and great staff. Ordered 4 separate pizzas and 100% satisfaction all round, outstanding

Best pizza I have had in ages. Had scallops with beetroot reduction which was great. The reduction was slightly sweet and actually tasted better with the salad. Had prawn, chirizo, garlic, aioli and chill which was very well cooked. Thin crispy base whichbwas puffed at the edges. The Aiolil was really tasty. The Lemon Posset was tangy and nice, however I prefer when slightly frozen. My wife loved her orange tiramisu. They do take away pizza as well.

Fabulous range of pizzas. Something for everyone. Olives were a huge hit with those that like olives. Pizzas were a lovely thin crispy Italian style base and they were loaded with topping. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Lovely place for a night out for two or a group of friends.

Seriously good. 10inch pizza that was inhaled. Ask for their home made garlic mayo too. Honestly. Love this place. Cosy, romantic, relaxed. Very good waiting staff and a nice glass of wine to top it off. Would recommend.

We love this restaurant and can regularly be found sampling the delicious, authentic Italian food and relaxed atmosphere under the watchful gaze of friendly, attentive staff. We really couldn’t fault this wonderful little eatery and hope it continues to go from strength to strength. Highly recommended!

Finally got a chance to visit Pizza Ten last night and so glad we did. The menu is simple, ten choices of fresh pizza and a handful of starters and side dishes. The starters were delicious, the garlic pizette is a must. The pizza I had was easily the best pizza I have eaten in the UK, ingredients were top notch, service was perfect and the venue itself was spotless. We're already discussing which pizza to try on our next visit.

Stopped here for a quick lunch, it was hidden in a small courtyard area in a corner. The food was lovely and fresh and I would highly recommend not just for pizza but for the other things on their menu too. Staff were friendly and decor was clean and modern and you can watch them making the pizzas.

V good pizza place. Agree: really smart decor/style, friendly staff and really v good freshly-made pizzas. Probably at the higher end of the range (£13.50 for pizza, then £6.50 for dessert), but would certainly return and would recommend.

If you're looking to immerse yourself in the local scene, make your way to The Unicorn, a charming spot tucked behind a striking dark-blue Georgian door at 14 Corve Street. This unique venue transforms from a publishing house during the week into an inviting beer bar from Thursday through Sunday, known as The Dog Hangs Well. For those who appreciate craft brews, don’t miss out on visiting the Ludlow Brewery Company housed in a former Victorian train shed.

I last visited here over 20 years ago. And was pleased to see that none of the early C17 features (pictured) have been removed in the recent refurbishment. The fire backplate is dated 1664 and from the reign of King Charles II.

Got here a few mins before it opened and we were welcomed in by the friendly staff. Fab place, might be my fav out of all the Black Country Ales pubs I've visited.

Have visited several times since it reopened, last visit was 17/08/25 on the pizza trial. Pub is spotless inside and out, very well maintained. Friendly staff. Pizza was fantastic.

We spent five days In Ludlow last week, tried a few of the pubs in the town centre, so disappointing, little more than soulless eating places. The next night we tried the Unicorn, what a find, a proper pub selling great beers, served by friendly staff. The whole place has retained it's 17th century feeling, lots of beams and charm. While they don't do meals, there are filled rolls on offer, and on the Thursday nights they put on a cheese and cracker evening, buy a pint and help yourself to a large array of cheeses, crackers, pickled onions, etc, but be quick, they disappear quickly. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly.

I'd heard plenty about how good the pub was previously and wished to give it a try since it recently reopened. The staff were very friendly and knew their products well. Lovely friendly atmosphere also. Will definitely visit again when next in ludlow

Nestled in a charming location, The Squirrel is a bright and modern pub that caters to families with its inviting patio and play area. This establishment serves up a delightful array of rotisserie and classic dishes, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Guests have consistently praised the warm hospitality provided by staff members like Helen, who goes above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcome.
First meal here, won't be last. Seated promptly, service really good from the host and the guy who brought us our meals. Long wait for desserts, but but overall experience left us really pleased. Food was delicious and the presentation was good.

Attended today and was served by the lovely Helen. She was very accommodating and offered advice on puddings. Food was tasty however the steak was a little tough. Lasagne was very nice.
Charlie W — Google review
Had big expectations reading the menu and in the end we decided to have a pie each. I chose the best pie ever and my wife chose the steak and pie duo. Unfortunately, both were underwhelming, with my pie crust being burnt which meant it was inedible. Very disappointed. I was told the steak was nice but as you can see from the picture the pie was tiny (eaten in 3 bites). The pub is lovely and love the dog snacks menu 😃. The service was fine but with it being a Saturday lunchtime the staff were very busy and no one came to ask if our food was okay so I couldn't mention the issue with the burnt pie.

Visiting Ludlow with my Dad for 2 nights, we ate at The Squirrel for dinner both nights...I can highly recommend the food ( good selection of pub standards) & have to make a special mention of the warm & friendly welcome that Helen provided, as busy as she was she took time to chat, smile & gave recommendations, perfectly professional & relaxed, this is as good as hospitality gets....we hope to be back to visit again..many thanks...

We visited the Squirrel twice during our two night stay at Ludlow. On both occasions we had a great experience. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The food was especially tasty and decent size portions. Definitely worth a visit. Thank you to all the staff, you're all doing a great job.

Had a great nightcap at The Squirrel and a cracking breakfast at The Squirrel, whilst staying at the Foldgate LaneTravelodge at Ludlow next door, which doesn't have a cafe or restaurant. We were made very welcome and enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended.

We are giving 5stars for service because of Helen’s attentiveness to our table, she helped my daughter order an appropriate and tasty meal to accommodate the dessert (sundae) she was soo excited to have. We’d had a long day, Helen’s cheerful demeanour and helpfulness was welcome. Alex the chef brought our main course and made sure we had everything we needed and were all content, we appreciated his professional hospitality. When we arrived we felt initially welcome by a lady with short hair, after her welcome we were rushed to our table by James who spoke very fast and we felt very much a burden and almost as though we’d intruded. When my daughter and son’s much anticipated “sundae” arrived in a soup bowl rather than a flute they were disappointed, they didn’t make a fuss but Helen did overhear their slight disappointment and offered to change it, (especially as they’d seen adults eating the same dessert a half hour earlier in a flute) Bless Helen, she did ask James if she could change it to sundae flutes, sadly we heard his response to her which was along the lines of “it being the same amount of ice cream” “no, there’s no sundae bowls left” Overall lovely meal but Helen should be manager, she’s an excellent example of hospitality/service staff. Thanks

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Ludlow, Bistro 7 is a beloved gem among locals that embodies a straightforward yet delightful philosophy: serve up smiles, source top-notch local produce, and cook it to perfection. This charming eatery prides itself on crafting beautiful homemade dishes using only the finest ingredients. Diners rave about the deliciously prepared meals that strike just the right balance in portion sizes while remaining reasonably priced for such quality fare.
What a fantastic restaurant! The food was tasty and perfectly cooked, the portions were exactly the right amount and everything (including the wine) was fairly priced for the quality! Service was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend booking this place if you are in the area.
Pauline J — Google review
It was our first visit to Ludlow, so before we went I did some research as my wife is celiac and so I was looking for somewhere that would accommodate us and Bistro 7 looked very good. I contacted them via email with our request and requirements and managed to book in advance. When we arrived, there was a sign saying fully booked, so we were chuffed we'd got a table. From the get go, the staff were really friendly and accommodating and had taken note of my wife's dietary needs, that was very good we thought. The staff kindly altered one of the dishes for my wife abd were on hand to answer further questions. I had a local beer that was super and my wife a soft drink that was very refreshing. The beer was so nice I had another! When the starters arrived they looked superb, with flavours to match, they were so nice. Suitably impressed when the mains came they were equally impressed, the combination of flavours were a triumph. The resturant is not huge but there is a very nice atmosphere. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, it was a lovely experience. Unfortunately, we couldn't manage desserts despite the fact they also looked very nice. Our thanks to all of the staff for making our short stay in Ludlow very memorable, we had a lovely time. We would certainly recommend.

Very tasty and well-cooked meals, pleasingly presented and at a sensible price. Excellent service and restaurant decor The portions for the main courses were quite small and left us wanting more (not that we are at all part of the 'pile it high /as much as you can eat' brigade!). Maybe it's a cunning plan to up-sell the starters and desserts 😂 These were also excellent A good experience and we'd definitely re-visit

Booked in advance for a meal at Bistro 7. We wasn’t disappointed. Restaurant fully booked. We had a starter & main. Too full to eat a dessert. I order the pate for starter and must admit I coulda have eaten this again - it was so tasty. My husband order the pigeon for starter and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Our mains were the beef stroganoff and the steak. A good sized portion and tasty food. A nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Our only negative point would be too many tables in restaurant, as your quite close to other diners, plus no hand sanitiser in bathroom. We recommend dining at this restaurant
Tracey C — Google review
A little bit of fancy! What a fabulous menu... Starters, mains and desserts are superbly varied and most definitely not the regular menu of so many restaurants... Great choices include Cajun bubble and squeak with poached egg, Wood Pigeon and Venison , all beautifully seasoned, cooked and presented. Such an enjoyable meal in a lovely atmosphere. The owners certainly know their trade!
Debbie C — Google review
Luckily passed this place, called in to see if they had any availability, and managed to book a table. All the food was beautifully cooked and presented and delicious. Good wines were available, the service was great and the staff were friendly and efficient. Couldn't decide on which dessert to have so had the sharing plate😋Would definitely recommend and come back if ever in the area again.

The bubble and squeak starter was mouth wateringly warming. Followed by the Hake which was full of flavour and a delightful crunch to the cockles. The the sticky toffee pudding was sweet and light. More of a light sponge and the toffee sauce soaked into complete the perfect mouthful. Or in other words.......Yummy in my tummy!

Whether you choose to dine al fresco or cozy up inside, the warm atmosphere encourages conversation among friends and family.
Six of us had five different mains and I was coveting all the others' choices. Don't choose the sausages option. No complaints but it was average and unfulfilling. The Thai waitress was brilliant and a good evening was had by all
Michael W — Google review
I ummed and aahed between a 3* and 4*, because it was generally good, but it wasn't very good and there are far better food and beer options in Ludlow. They could have done a few things better. We had 3 courses here. The starters were okay. A very nicely done chorizo scotch egg and an okay terrine. The terrine was bought in rather than made on site which was a bit disappointing, and it was fine. We both had scampi for main, and it was okay but not great. The chips were really lacking. I think it was £16.50. For that price, the chips should be brilliant and the scampi crispy. Puddings were pretty disappointing. Crumble was lacking in flavour, so heavy on the crumble relative to the fruit and they felt either rushed if homemade or bought in. Beer selection was good but not as local or as wide ranging a choice as elsewhere in Ludlow. And finally... it was bloody cold! Everyone in the whole room had coats on. The radiators was off and it was cold.

First time eaters. Well, just got me self a new job and the Mrs wanted to go out for food to celebrate. Spent the best part of 2hrs deliberating where to go and settled on here. Warm welcome from bar staff. Had starters and mains. Great food at a decent price. Would have taken pics of food, but was starving and pretty much inhaled it. Sausage and mas oh and a spag boll. Here's a pic of an empty glass of proper poured Guinness!

Lovely traditional pub with great food and friendly helpful staff. In fact i asked if it was possible for a taxi to be booked to take us back to the hotel we were staying at, and was told that the taxi service was pretty spase in Ludlow. But not to worry as she was finishing her shift and she would give us a lift back! Which she did. 😁

Very nice traditional pub, with a (very welcome) open fire. The food we had was good, I enjoyed the fish and chips. The Gammon was a little grisly in places, but otherwise very good. I would definitely recommend the Blue Boar if you like a good traditional English pub with good traditional pub grub. This would not be for those who are looking for a gastro pub!

Ludlow Brewing Co is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts. Housed in a sensitively restored Victorian railway shed, the brewery offers a comfortable and informal bar area where visitors can enjoy a full range of quality beers, including the toffee-ish Ludlow Best. The brewery tap and visitor center are open to daytime visitors throughout the week, providing an opportunity to witness the gleaming brewing equipment that stretches up into the old ceilings.
Had a lovely time at Ludlow Brewery yesterday! We did a tour of the premises and was educated about the roots and history of the business by Peter! Peter was excellent, very knowledgeable, personable and an all round good guy! A real asset for your business… It was that good, we called back today for some Silent Knight! ☺️ Steve&Tracey 🍺

Ludow Brewing Company is well worth a visit if you're in the area. The bar is well designed and they offer tours also which I didn't personally experience so can't rate that, but the bar is very busy and offers quality beer as you might expect. It doesn't have the best views if you sit outside as the view is basically an ALDI car park but inside the bar is well designed and a good space.

The best of local breweries - inside an old railway goods shed, with the brewery itself on display alongside plentiful seating. Excellent beers to drink there and to take away.

My colleagues and I visited the brewery for lunch and a tour and had a fantastic time. The food was great quality, the beer was excellent (you have to try "Silent Night", it's a standout), and the tour was genuinely fascinating. Bob was an excellent guide and storyteller, and we were all completely engaged throughout. We’ll definitely be back!

Fab talk & tour…. Took well over an hour. Small brewery but great story. Great talk and history of the brewery and all the intricacies of brewing ales, beers, lagers and stout. I thought I knew the difference but not really !! Lovely beer sampling… Shame i was driving. Bill was a great tour guide and resident expert. Informative, informal, funny and genuine. Great guy - a real asset to the company. Would definitely recommend for an afternoon - but get a taxi and enjoy a few beers in the bar area / balcony & outside.

Cracking Curry house situated just off the market square in Ludlow. It was recommended to us and didn't disappoint. Very clean and airy premises with a modern contemporary feeling. Staff all friendly and efficient without being overbearing. Nice poppadoms and Pickles to start with then Mrs had Chicken Korma, good but sauce not that thick and creamy. Carvells The Art of Tea is a charming British tea house known for its quintessentially British afternoon tea experience. This family-owned establishment serves loose tea in traditional china cups, accompanied by delightful cakes and sandwiches. The tearoom itself has a dollhouse-like appearance and is housed in an impressive medieval building that has been well-preserved. Visitors can enjoy the ambiance of the old structure while indulging in delicious pastries and hot beverages.
This is an amazing traditional little tea house! The service was great! the atmosphere here was delightful! There is an upstairs with more seating, just be careful of the uneven steps in this old tudor style house.
Bonnie H — Google review
There's a certain inattentiveness in service - not a rudeness; staff are polite - and I found it bizarre that I had to wait so long, and then half the order never turned up. It's not due to a staff shortage, for sure. And the place is slightly dirty (if you're going to use paper tablecloths, replace them throughout the day). "Clean" crockery on the table covered in flies. Had my food turned up, I could see from other plates that it would have been small for the price.

Love this place, especially sitting in the cute alley outside. Great coffee, great cakes, the servers are very friendly and each time we've been served it's been very quick. Fully recommend to anyone looking for a coffee in the area
Joe P — Google review
Was charged 10 pounds for 2 average pasties, heated in the microwave. Was told we could sit outside but then harassed by local busybodies who complained that we were eating food purchased from the shop next door. Several tables were free and no one was waiting for a table. I would avoid this cafe. 😢😢😢

A lovely tea room. It kind of looks like a dollhouse inside. The pastry was delicious and well as the hot chocolate. The building itself is impressive, a medieval house that's been kept well. It's been a pleasure to walk in it, feeling its oldness and how wanky it was. In my opinion, it is a place worth stopping at if visiting Ludlow.
Minii M — Google review
A lovely little tea room that focuses on tea, cakes and coffee, with some savoury dishes and sandwiches. Note: if you're looking for a full English breakfast, you won't get one here - that's not the shop's purpose. The environment is cute and olde worlde with music taken mostly from the '40s and '50s. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. One criticism is that the shop is often closed when one would expect it to be open, so best to visit on a market day and/or check before going.

Nestled along the picturesque River Teme, CSONS offers a delightful culinary experience that beautifully showcases modern British cuisine with a seasonal twist. This charming venue is surrounded by stunning countryside views and features a unique dining area designed like a safari tent, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for weddings or family gatherings. Visited here for Sunday morning brunch, following a recommendation from our holiday let. We hadn't thought to book a table and they were very busy. However the staff were kind enough to move around tables and find us a place. They have a great menu and the service is very good despite how busy they were. I had the best salmon in a long time. The price point is also very reasonable, given the location and views next to the river. Would highly recommend a visit.

Visiting Ludlow with friends and called to book a table for breakfast on a Sunday at 11am. Thankfully they accepted our booking for 7 people, albeit outside. We arrived on time to find the place incredibly busy and our table wasn’t ready. All of the staff were really friendly and apologetic, and they did get us a better outdoor table within about 10 minutes. We weren’t able to order food until about 11:30, and it was 12:15 before our order arrived. The food quality was excellent and the staff constantly checked-in on us and couldn’t apologise enough for the delay. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t have booked if we had known how long we would need to wait. Also, being by the river and outdoors, the wasps were a constant nuisance. Great location, great staff and delicious food, but a 4-star experience overall.

Excellent food. Excellent service. A quite small and very noisy indoor section. We needed to book on a Monday lunchtime to get a table. The food was Devine.

What an experience. Incredibly good food, all made with local produce and seasonal menu. Loved the twist from different cucines - we tried the lamb with Greek twist, the chicken with Moroccan twist, the aubergine with Japanese twist, the courgette with Middle East twist and it’s difficult to say which one was the best. Delicious dessert and kids food. The staff is very welcoming and the location is superb.

I had a quick stop off on my way through & I’m so glad I did. The area is beautiful & so very peaceful, there’s limited parking outside but a cheap car park down the road for £2. The food was really well presented, it tasted as good as it looks! The coffee was lovely and flavoursome. I’ll definitely be back when in the area ☕️ Allergen aware and catered for my dairy Intolerance. Oat milk available
Hannah C — Google review
I ordered the chicken shawarma expecting to get a chicken shawarma. What I got was two tiny chunks of grilled chicken, some grilled bell pepper, no vegetables (onions, tomatoes, cucumbers) and no wrap. How can this be called a shawarma when they are no vegetables and no wrap? It's just like ordering a burger and being served a meat patty without the buns or tomato or lettuce. And being told it's another £3.50 for the buns. The chicken is also tasteless despite the spices used. Even the £3 "chicken shawarma" salad from Aldi has more taste. Whoever cooked this has never eaten a real shawarma. The "international food" here is clearly targeted at British people who have never traveled and like their food plain. It doesn't look or taste like a chicken shawarma. If I knew this is the "chicken shawarma", I would not have ordered it. The portion size is also tiny. Even after ordering a flat bread to go with it, I'm still hungry. As a slim Asian woman who wears child-sized clothes in the UK, I always struggle to finish UK portions in restaurants. This is the first restaurant where I still feel hungry after finishing my food. Even Aldi's £3 "chicken shawarma" is more filling. Highly not recommended. P.S: After reading how the owner has previously responded to negative feedback, I am doubtful of her emotional maturity. Please decide for yourself if you want to deal with her kind of attitude should you come here and find something that doesn't meet your expectations.

Nice little place in a beautiful location right on the river bank. On one side a small park through other has a pretty little bathing spot next to a weir. Being a nice warm day there were lots of people wandering around with dogs & kids. The "beach had lots of bathers & paddlers. The restaurant is pretty compact & cozy with a serving hatch to the kitchen, very bistro café style. The service is good with friendly servers. The food is well presented & very tasty. All in our group enjoyed their meals. I had a very tasty unique burger though I would have preferred freshly sauted potatoes rather than pre cooked. The sweet was delicious & beautifully presented. Worth coming over.. Lovely food presentation. Food tastes and looks fresh, served piping hot. The sausage is delish! I love how you can request how your eggs and bacon to be cooked. Professional and accommodating staff. They will make you feel welcome but not stuffing/crowding/overwhelming yo. I can tell that many locals come over to eat. The atmosphere is homey and friendly. Clean and cozy. I love that they kept some old pieces. I would love to come visit again. The restaurant is easy to find as well.

We came here for a late breakfast whilst staying in the town and glad we did. We were looking for a full English to see us through until supper time and our choice didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly, we were seated quickly and our order taken promptly but then it was a quiet Tuesday morning. They were happy for us to swap breakfast items around so instead of black pudding I ordered an extra rasher of bacon. The good quality food was cooked perfectly, freshly to order and piping hot. We feel the price is good value and so highly recommend.

Good tasty food and well sized portions. It is a little on the pricy side for a cafe for lunch, but the food is delicious enough I think it makes up for it! I had the tempura prawns which I can’t recommend enough!!! Food came quickly and the atmosphere is lovely. Will be back next time I’m in Ludlow!
Flora S — Google review
Lovely food and friendly staff. A little small inside (we were very close to the next table), but would definitely visit again! Good variety of menu options, so we were all able to order something a bit different.

Beautiful food, I walked past and saw the special on a board outside, it sounded too good not to try. I think it was the best meal I've had in a long time. Pork with sticky rice. The pork was cooked to perfection and the rice was beautifully sticky. It was so good I even had pudding, a stunning crumble. Even better I didn't want to cry when the bill came. Extremely well priced. I would definitely recommend. I will be back.

Excellent fish night in late February 2025. Small but well thought out fish menu. Fairly priced with tempting starters and good choice of fish. Prawns in tempura style batter were crisp and well flavoured. My main trio of Cornish hake, bream and haddock with the famous creamy sauce with grapes was rather good. Nicely presented and fresh quality white fish. Vegetables and potatoes came in small dishes and we're quite acceptable. Quality ice cream to finish. All 5 of us enjoyed our meal. Well priced small choice of reasonable wines. Underrated restaurant. The breakfast I had a few weeks previously was also excellent.

Wow what a find. We were struggling to find somewhere to eat on a Tuesday night as we passed through Ludlow. We decided to try this place and it was fab. We had prawns to start with which were delicious. I had the salmon with Mediterranean veg and dauphinoise potatoes and my partner has lamb chops with chips and veg. The food tasted delicious and was cooked very well and the presentation was beautiful. I wish I had taken a photo, the dishes were very artistically presented . The young man serving us was lovely and very attentive. Would highly recommend !

The Corner House, Ludlow. We moved to Ludlow a few months ago and have slowly been finding our feet especially with the restaurant scene. Tonight we attended the Corner House restaurant and landed at what can only be described as an absolute gem. The service was top notch and the food was amazing. The Wagu steak was the best that I had ever eaten served with Mediterranean vegetables. My wife had the turbot and this was out of this world. So much respect had been shown to the fish. Our starters were beautifully prepared and were fresh and so delicious. So far for us this is one of the best restaurants in Ludlow. Well done.

The inviting atmosphere is complemented by live music every Friday evening, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed night out. Diners rave about the hearty meals and friendly service; many have been pleasantly surprised by how accommodating the staff are even without reservations.
Lovely bar and cafe located in a small courtyard a short distance from the market square. The courtyard you have to pass through has the feel of going back in time, complete with a very old Morris Minor parked outside. The cafe is very well decorated, mixing modern and old and very clean. Staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent. Great coffee. Feels very comfortable, a place you want to visit to catch up with friends with a coffee in the day, or a few drinks and a meal in the evening.

I’d been here years ago and my husband wanted a spontaneous drive to a nice restaurant. I recommended here and said I hope the food and service is what I remember… IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Food was excellent! And the staff were so friendly I couldn’t recommend this place more ! We drove an hour and 15 mins purely for the food and would 10/10 do it again! If you want a nice day out with good food and nice people , this is the place !

Great place for a coffee/tea and cake just behind the main street. Tea was excellent, the scone was delicious, fresh and warm, fab with jam and cream. The staff were lovely and the background music was great. Lovely place and well worth a visit.

Lots of gluten free options and lovely atmosphere. We specified in the online booking that one of us had a gluten intolerance, and they had written the gluten free options out on a board and put this on the table ready for when we arrived. Great service and tasty food!
Catrin C — Google review
Thought this was quite a cute little place with a nice vibe. The menu offers a good variety, with plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, and meat-eaters alike. There’s parking nearby, but not directly outside, so you’ll need to walk a bit. Customer service was really good, though we had to wait a while since it was quite busy when we visited. As for the food, it was average, not bad but not particularly memorable either. The main issue was that it tasted a bit bland. On the bright side, my friend really enjoyed the tea they serve. Overall, it’s a decent spot with a welcoming atmosphere and inclusive menu options, but the flavours could use a little more punch.
Gargi T — Google review
We hadn’t booked so went by chance. We were really politely accommodated. We were looking for good hearty food and a relaxed atmosphere which is what we got. The burgers were fantastic (I can’t remember what it was called but it was their headline one, two burgers, pulled pork, chicken, slaw, onion ring). The ice cream sundae desserts looked great but we had no room left for them. Pleasantly surprised that Blue Light Card also gave a 15% discount on mains. Would definitely go again.

Breakfast / brunch place in town center with a good variety of breakfast foods and reasonable prices. My husband liked his breakfast sandwich with egg, sausage and black pudding (he added it). I was a bit disappointed with my poached eggs and salmon toast. I assumed it will be served on avocado toast (have never seen poached eggs served on a buttered toast before) I also was a bit surprised with how “pushy” service was with “pay upfront pls”

We visited on Tuesday from outside it looked like a lovely place to eat. When we sat down and ordered, the drinks took ages to arrive and the food took an hour. We ordered a bacon sandwich and prawn sandwich not much at all. I must admit the bacon was lovely however the prawn were not. My partner has now been very ill for the last 48hrs since eating here. We will not be eating here again.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and comfortably decorated, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The food was surprisingly good for a hotel of this size — fresh, nicely prepared, and with a good selection for different tastes. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. Overall, a great value option for anyone looking for a comfortable, no-fuss stay with good food and welcoming service. Would happily return.

Comfy bed and nice room with bath (I requested a bath and got one - thank you!). Nice view from room (we were on the top floor). Only downside was it was a bit chilly - the heating never came on in the bedroom or bathroom (the lady downstairs at breakfast said it should be on a timer). Great location - easy walk into Ludlow (obvs you have to climb a hill 😊). Breakfast was delicious - poached eggs were perfect. Thanks!
Louise R — Google review
Our visit was very underwhelming. Firstly, the staff were not particularly friendly, they just did the bear minimum service without a smile. Then the rooms themselves were very average and not worth paying more than any other hotel. But the worst part is how badly we slept - the pillows were very small and hard. We were also kept up all night by people talking in the room next to us, which although the hotel can't do much about this, it shows how thin the walls are. If you want a good night's sleep, I'd recommend booking a budget hotel instead. We didn't have an evening meal, but the food looked good if you like boujie food, but other than that and the somewhat nice location there's no reason to visit The Cliffe at Dinham
Alex G — Google review
Room was nice small bathroom. Meal in restaurant in evening was tasty but would prefer a proper meal for price 6 little dots of pink and white does not replace veg, the duck was lovely but would have liked a sauce with it. The breakfast wasnt nice , poached eggs were over cooked and beans were tasteless , couldn't eat it, staff were lovely

Stayed 16th for two nights for the second year running. Nice welcome, in a peaceful location. The hotel is clean and the food is very good. Rooms are very nice and clean with good facilities. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and the Cliffe is one of the nicest I have stayed in. There are quite a few places to see around and about so I would definitely recommend the

This was our 3rd stay and we are never disappointed. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. Staff are friendly and have plenty of local knowledge. The food here is beautiful. Our expectations are always met. The combination of flavours showcases the chefs knowledge of his art. We would highly recommend here. It is located about a 10 minute walk from the town centre. There is a steep hill to get into town unless you take a longer route down the Linney. We look forward to our next visit 😀

Ludlow Market is a charming and award-winning market located in the picturesque town of Ludlow, nestled in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The market, which has been operating for over 900 years, offers a wide variety of traditional local goods and produce. Visitors can find an array of items such as flowers from Stokesay Court's garden, homemade brownies, olives, walking gear from Marches Outdoors, and fruit vodkas.
We arrived at Ludlow Market on Friday about 11 am on 11-April. We had fantastic weather so we were able to wander through the streets. It’s such a quaint town with a 2nd hand toys shop, musical instruments, cafe and bakery shops, a castle and church and many more. It’s a pleasure to make a pit stop here on our way from Liverpool to Bath.

During a weekend getaway in Ludlow, I discovered The Angel Restaurant and was immediately drawn to its inviting atmosphere. Observing the bustling activity, I decided to make a reservation for Saturday evening. From the moment I arrived, the dining experience proved to be exceptional. The food showcased delightful flavors and rustic presentation, while being genuinely satisfying. Moreover, the ambiance was enhanced by the warm and friendly staff. I highly recommend visiting this establishment to fully appreciate its charms.
Dinner here with my wife yesterday was lovely. The food was great, and the atmosphere perfect! I'd say the customer service from the 3 waitresses was fantastic - welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone searching for a lovely meal. We shared 6 oysters, seafood paella and crab/ lobster cocktail. All 3 dishes were grand! If we're ever in the area again, we'll 100% be visiting 👍🏻

First time in Ludlow, place looked nice from outside and menu was interesting, taken straight to a table chose Tapas for the 2 off us never had oysters before so chose 2 have 1 they were delicious so ordered 2 more! Food was really nice, service was great really enjoyed the visit bill was £75 for 3 oysters, 6 tapas dishes and 3 drinks, highly recommend!

Lovely. Really enjoyed the meal, one of the tapas dishes we didn’t like (ribs) but was probably just our personal taste. Everthing else was great. Chicken strips and Smokey stew (sorry can’t recall the exact names) were stand outs. Service was excellent and staff were lovely.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and the staff looked after us so well! The tapas choices were delicious. The dressed crab and the mussels on the daily specials menu were superb! The desserts we had were also lovely. Quirky and cosy interiors! We really enjoyed our dinner at The Angel - what a find! We will definitely come back again next time we are in Ludlow!

Myself and a friend were camping just outside of Ludlow & walked past this restaurant on our first day in town and it’s smelt so amazing we booked to come back the next day. What a little gem this place is! The staff were delightful and couldn’t have been more hospitable. The food & wine were some of the best we’ve had in a long time. A gorgeous selection of tapas and mains. If you are any where near Ludlow you have to add this to your list.
Sarah-Jane N — Google review
Gorgeous tapas in a great restaurant. The decor is fab, the food fantastic and the staff were great too. Recommend the lamb skewers (very tasty), grilled prawns (big and juicy), oysters (huge, juicy too) chorizo with apple sauce (apple sauce was a new one for me, will definitely eat these again) and the classic patatas bravas were delicious. Friendly, helpful staff and the restaurant is funky, cool and and an all round must visit.
Claire — Google review
Bland food and overpriced! Staff said there maybe a delay for our food as it’s cooked to order, our order was served within 5 minutes! It looked liked it had been sitting around since lunch time accept for the bread. Pork ribs were boiled and looked unappetising for £14.00 they lacked any sort coating/colouring. Tomato salad was minimal and not heritage tomatoes as advertised swimming in oil and olives! The restaurant lacked atmosphere and the plastic table clothes should be burnt. Overall disappointing and expensive.

Nice, simple, tasty food. Decent prices. Nothing to complain about. I asked for crispy bacon and it was perfect. Staff friendly.

Nice little cafe. Worth a visit. This is a more traditional fry up cafe. The food was nice but it is on the more expensive side of this type of cafe. The people who run the place were very friendly amd the service was good. Unfortunately as we were there a group of lads inn a van turned up parked on the double yellow lines outside amd proceeded to have a go at an elderly gentleman trying to move his car. This of course is not Amy fault of the cafe but does highlight a problem with parking. I do believe this is worth a visit.

We recently had a cod and chips to take away, but I'm sorry to say they were the worst fish and chips we've ever had. The chips were just a soggy greasy mush, and the batter on the fish wasn't much better. Needless to say, we won't be going back!

Spent £39 on two kebabs (£8.90) each Half a box with approximately 10/15 slithers of kebab with salad. A fish dripping in grease Two bags of chips that were as chewy as chewing gum Two small sausages Two curry sauce pots. I live three minutes in the car away from the chip shop so how can the kebab be stone cold when I get home? I have tried to call the restraunt as I am unable to get back there this evening without taking the tribe of kids with me and their phone is constantly "line busy" £18 on two kebabs which were not edible unless microwaved which I refuse to do and a heart attack from the grease of the fish if it would of been eaten. Waste of money . Avoid .

We could tell that the fish n chips weren't going to be up to much by how soggy the scallops were. But nothing could prepare us for the mush of chips,& especially the undercooked fish. The batter was still raw inside,& the fish tasted of nothing. £18.90 for the pleasure, too!! Never, ever again!!!

Decent prices, good pizza, closes too early.

Ordered a pizza, some fries and some mozzarella sticks from here. Disappointed as the pizza dough was still raw and undercooked, the fries (obviously frozen fries) werent cooked probably and were cold. Waste of £20
