Lido is a well-known chain of budget-friendly restaurants in Riga, offering traditional Latvian cuisine and home-brewed beer at an average cost of 10 to 25 EUR. Founded in 1987, Lido has become a symbol of Latvian culinary culture since the country's independence in 1991.
Went with our 2.5years old son and spend 3 hours there. He enjoyed some games, the waters and the food. It's definitely a solution for families 👪 with small children if you are in Riga
Georgios S — Google review
I visited Latvia for the first time, and if you're looking to experience local food, this is definitely the place! There was a wide variety of choices, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is amazing for kids. I would definitely return.
Flávia M — Google review
Very delicious food 🥘 – always fresh, hearty, and homemade-style. The halls are always clean, cozy, and filled with the amazing smell of food. In my opinion, this is the most atmospheric dining place in Riga! And the pancakes 🥞 at Lido are pure love ❤️. I like to joke that they’re the reason to come back to Latvia again and again.
Катерина М — Google review
This is one best food places in Riga. Do not overload your plates and your tummy will be happy afterwards! Affordable and very tasty. Can get busy and peak times but plenty odnspace to sit down outside and downstairs if weather not on your side. Highly recommended! Everyone will find something for themselves.
Piotr M — Google review
Must come place! Huge variety of high quality food items including vegetarian meals. In one place you could try Baltic, Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian, Scandinavian dishes. And you won't believe how affordable they are! Three stories high, free parking, free public washrooms. Incredible architectural design - all wooden structures, made from huge logs.
Ed B — Google review
Latvian famous restaurant chain, it is a must do when visiting Riga. The food is ok, don’t expect 5 stars meal. It’s an affordable self restaurant place and the food is good for canteen style place! Pleasant experience
Mona R — Google review
If you love noisy organized chaos and endless choices of food, snacks, desserts and drinks then Lido is your place but not for those of us suffering badly from gluten sensitivities. Of course there are gluten-free options but the information you have to check it carefully yourself and the contamination risk is very high if you're extremely sensitive to gluten. I settled for a glass of gluten free strawberry mousse in vanilla sauce which was absolutely delicious and filling, worth a revisit as well. The place is large, huge, a really vast area with different kitchens and menues. The building is divided into many different sections and the patios in a variety of many brightly decorated exteriors, similar to an amusement park. Lido is also easily accessible by public transportations from Riga city center. Very easy to get there by any bus or trams.
Silja S — Google review
Well worth visiting for the food alone. I was there "between the seasons" so not all the bells and whistles going on in the yard theam park. The food is good and so plentiful. The self service almost make it hard to choose among so many dishes. Suitable for all ages.

Restaurant Domini Canes is a highly-rated dining establishment in Riga, known for its exceptional food, friendly staff, and ideal location near Saint Peters Church. It consistently ranks among the top five restaurants in the city. This restaurant not only offers delicious Latvian cuisine but also showcases influences from London, Tokyo, and Paris.
Excellent meal here, lovely staff and very tasty. Great value as well for such lovely food. Just to note it is cash only.
Diane B — Google review
Ok let’s say I read many things about this place , so I did booked the table and me and my partner decided to finish our amazing trip to Riga with this little cosy place. I would not say it’s bad or it’s a best food experience I ever had it was… ok. Presentation of the each dish is the win win situation to the restaurant however… salmon tartare taste like … chopped salmon and avocado.. ok .. pikeperch fillet taste like … fish .. lamb shoulder taste like lamb etc etc. there where no this full of flavour dishes. It looked amazing but within this amazing looks the wow effect ends… there where no Wow taste effect. Which was a bit of a shame. Place nice, cosy, can’t blame a thing really and it was the busiest restaurant we saw for this entire Easter weekend. But unfortunately I have to rate as 4 stars but purely because of the presentation. Otherwise it would be 3 stars for actual food taste.

Very recommendable 👌 Fast, friendly and attentive Service. The service personnel took time to answer my questions and delivered all my wishes to the kitchen. ❤️ The food was from high quality, both visually and tastefully. 🙌 Good local draft beer👌 I felt welcome and I will come back 👍👍👍

Gourmet restaurant with amazing, delicious dishes. Excellent attention. It’s worthy to stop during your visit to Riga
Maru C — Google review
The food had lovely presentation but was lacking flavour. We started with trout tratare with avocado which was lovely. Then we got the signature pork ribs and the fish. The pork was good but the fish was lacking a bit of flavour. The staff was really nice .
Tiago F — Google review
Cozy spot in the heart of Old Town! The food was absolutely delicious - the baked Camembert with balsamic-roasted grapes and green pistachios was a standout, and the pan-fried pikeperch fillet with green pea purée and mango-pistachio tartare was truly exquisite. Kudos to the chef! Though, the atmosphere was a bit of a letdown. The space is quite small, and somehow the noise bounces off the walls and becomes overwhelming - it really affected the overall experience, we had to scream to hear each other. I would expect such a noise at a bar/pub, but not at a good restaurant. But probably it happened due to this evening the restaurant was packed with some really loud groups. A reservation is definitely recommended, as the space is limited. One interesting observation: we were the only locals there, which likely explains the pricing. It’s more tourist-oriented in that sense, not really a local’s everyday spot. All in all, a charming and cozy place with fantastic food.
Vlada K — Google review
We have just finished a superb meal at Domini Canes. The service was attentive, the food beautifully presented and menu choices really interesting - we loved it! We also thought it was excellent value for money.

Cafe
Tucked away in a quiet alleyway, Parunāsim kafe'teeka is a charming French-inspired cafe that prides itself on being the most romantic spot in Riga. Its cozy interior features plush velvet armchairs and candlelit wooden tables, creating an intimate atmosphere. The cafe's location near historic landmarks like St. Jacobs Church and the Three Brothers houses adds to its allure.
12 out of 10 – a truly unique interior, exceptionally helpful staff, and absolutely delicious cakes. The atmosphere is cozy and full of character, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat. Don’t miss the chance to visit this gem when you’re in Riga – it’s well worth the stop!
Boris H — Google review
Such a charming retro café in the old town, right next to a church in a very picturesque spot. The interior is full of vintage touches and funny quotes on the walls that give it a lot of character, with 60s–70s music playing to match the vibe. We visited on a rainy day and it was the perfect cozy place to enjoy our coffee. A great choice if you’re looking for something warm and atmospheric in Riga.
Vasilis G — Google review
Location and vibes are very suggestive, prices are on the high side 5€ for a hot chocolate and 4.50€ for a hot tea. Haven’t tried any food but they have a selection of cakes at the entrance (not sure about gluten free or vegan options). It is a nice cafe to pass by for an afternoon tea or when it is cold outside.
Giulia T — Google review
Romantic & Calm Vibe at an Affordable Price! We absolutely loved the cozy, romantic atmosphere. We tried the Royal Auglu Tea, Carrot Cake, and Irish Coffee , all were superb! The carrot cake stood out with a balanced flavor, not too sweet, just right . The staff provided great service, making the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!
Ishara M — Google review
The prices are for sure on the higher end (27eur for 2 cakes, 2 coffees and 1 non-alcoholic cocktail as of October 2025, in other places in Riga you would pay 15ish EUR for that amount at the moment). However, the prices are fully justified here you pay also for the quality, atmosphere and good service. Both lime and chocolate cakes were very fresh and nicely balanced in terms of sweetness, chocolate one was our favorite - the combination of ingredients in that was very intriguing and something I've never seen anywhere else (positively). Coffee was aromatic. Amazing service upon our visit on 07.10.25 during the evening - we arrived with flowers and the employee offered and provided a vase for the time of our visit. Kindly told us about each available cake. Waiting time for the order was not long at all. Atmosphere is very warm and cosy with attention to each details. This is a place you will want to return again.
Ludmila M — Google review
Parunāsim Kafe'teeka is one of those hidden gems that makes wandering the streets of Riga so rewarding. Tucked away down a quiet side street in the Old Town, this beautiful little café feels like stepping into a warm, welcoming hideaway from the bustle outside. The setting is charming and romantic, with vintage-style décor, soft lighting, and a cosy atmosphere that immediately makes you want to linger a bit longer than planned. We stopped in for a coffee and were genuinely impressed. The vanilla latte was excellent — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, clearly made with care. But the real standout was the honey cake, which was nothing short of unreal. Soft, layered, and full of delicate sweetness, it’s easily one of the best desserts we’ve had in Riga. It pairs perfectly with the coffee and completes the experience beautifully. The staff were friendly and the service relaxed, which suits the tone of the place perfectly. Whether you’re after a quiet spot to unwind, a romantic coffee date, or simply somewhere to enjoy an excellent drink and dessert, Parunāsim Kafe'teeka is the perfect choice. It’s the kind of café you’ll remember long after leaving Riga.
Tom C — Google review
Everything about this place is beautiful ❤️. Staff, coffee, food and atmosphere is perfection 👌 If I lived here, this would be my little haven. Paldies to the lovely Vanessa!! Back at my favourite cafe before flying back home to Australia. Everything to love ❤️
Eck — Google review
Parunāsim kafe'teeka, located in Riga’s lovely Old Town, describes itself as the most romantic coffee shop in town and I think I can see why. I visited on September 2nd, 2025, during my second day in the city as part of our Baltics tour. The design, seating, and overall atmosphere are so charming that the place almost invites you in on its own. They offer a wide selection of cakes and beverages, and with its calm, quiet environment, it’s the perfect spot to take a break and recharge in the middle of a long day exploring the Old Town. Highly recommended to everyone visiting the old town!!

Rocket Bean Roastery is a multi-faceted establishment in Riga, offering a roastery, café, shop, and Coffee School. Located on the beloved Miera iela 29 street, it adds a touch of Nordic style to the neighborhood. The roastery cafe is situated in an old sock factory and offers various brewing methods from Aeropress to coffee machine.
Rocket Bean Roastery is a true gem in Riga! The coffee is exceptional, with a rich variety of expertly roasted beans and perfectly brewed drinks. The ambiance is modern yet cozy, making it an ideal spot for both work and relaxation. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about coffee, always ready to recommend the perfect cup. The food menu is equally impressive, with fresh, delicious options that pair beautifully with their beverages. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just looking for a great place to unwind, Rocket Bean Roastery is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
Caner Y — Google review
I would say it it THE BEST coffee shop in Riga. It always full and there’re few reasons for this. There are few options of beans for espresso. I choose Ethiopia beans with fruity and sour taste. Next time I will try another option. Also, would be great to ask for different water proportions and grinding. I like 1 to 2 water proportion, it should make it less sour. My friend’s late art 🖼️ was beautiful 🤩 I wish see any other late art themes by request or pay 💰 Panini with chicken was very tasty. The right size. Great to have some gluten free options for people with lower tolerance and simply for healthier lifestyle. There are a lot of people with laptops. Great that there is such option. I like to visit such places, were feels a startup spirit. I wish Rocket Beans’ stocks to the moon 🚀🚀🚀

I wanted to check where all the cool kids hang out, so I went here. Great coffee in a huge space with sweet and savoury food options and wife. Well stocked retail side for your coffee needs.
Dontwaitdate — Google review
Sometimes it’s packed to the brim, with barely a seat in sight, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. ❤️ The coffee is unmatched, especially the latte: smooth, velvety, and always exactly what you need, whether it’s 8am or 4 in the afternoon when life feels a bit too much. It’s a haven for students, dreamers, thinkers, anyone who needs a moment of peace or a place to feel inspired. The service is always kind, never rushed. Warm lighting, the soft hum of conversations and keyboards, the scent of freshly ground beans - it all makes Rocket Bean more than a café. It’s a ritual. A refuge. My safe place in the middle of the city ☕️
Karo — Google review
Cool place to have a coffee! It is also possible to work, many people does. I got the batch brew from Brazil but I wasn’t very impressed, the tones I got was reminder the vinegar most. It is a personal taste as well I am sure that they have other coffee beans more suitable to my taste. Mozzarella sandwich with rye bread was great though. Also the staff is very nice and helpful, they let me try also the other batch of the from Tanzania (which I also also didn’t like much because it has the citrus tones). I would recommend if you are in the neighbourhood. This is one of the best cafes in the town..
Ooerim — Google review
I wasn’t really a coffee person, but man, this place literally changed me! Great coffee, pastries as well as other drinks and foods. Plenty of seats, super welcoming staff and atmosphere, you can see the guys making your sandwich, roasting your coffee, location is among the best streets in the city. Gun to head, life on the line, I couldn’t name a single thing I dislike about this place!

Innocent Cafe, located in Riga, is a popular spot known for its diverse breakfast options, delectable desserts, and a wide range of coffee drinks. The cafe has also gained fame for its pizza offerings topped with LifeTree vegan cheeses from Latvia. As one of the first establishments in Riga to introduce brunch, it has become a go-to destination for delicious and healthy mid-morning meals.
Great breakfast cafe, ordered american pancakes and my husband ordered fried eggs and bacon and both were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I recommend u give it a try. If u like strong coffee I ordered a flat white and it didn’t disappoint. Orange juice is freshly squeezed.

Cozy Breakfast Spot with Room to Improve A lovely place for breakfast with friendly service. The Francis omelet and avocado toast with mozzarella were delicious, beautifully presented, and made with quality ingredients. The American pancakes, although visually appealing, were very tough—so firm it was hard to cut them with a knife. Still, a nice spot overall, but the kitchen has some room to improve. 🍳🥑🥞

So far the best place in Riga's centre to have coffee (and work in my case)! Very nice and attentive staff, cozy atmosphere, soft music, and good coffee. Nice place for breakfast or lunch, as here you can find much bigger variety than in a usual coffee shop. Highly recommended!

LP (8/7): The food was delicious and the staff service were excellent. I would like to recommend this café. Great location and walkable.
Dalton C — Google review
This place serves the best coffee I have had in Riga (so far, at least). The menu is accessed via QR code, which seems to be quite common here, but I expect there are other ways to order if you don't have a smartphone. The food was good (although there were no potatoes, and I love potatoes), and the atmosphere was great. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English.
Phil H — Google review
Innocent Café was a decent stop for breakfast in Riga. The food leans more towards an American-style breakfast, and while nothing too unique, both the dishes and the coffee were tasty.

Fine dining restaurant
Barents restorāns takes pride in its northern heritage, offering guests a celebration of the region's flavors with the freshest local produce carefully selected from independent farmers and fishermen. The restaurant's focus on cold water seafood like lobsters, langoustines, and oysters ensures a top-notch dining experience. Chef Ivans Smigarevs and his team aim to highlight the unique taste of each ingredient by creating innovative dishes that surprise all senses.
This restaurant needs to have their star! Incredible food, incredible service, incredible experience. We had the seafood platter, the trout, and scallops and complimentary oysters. The chefs are personable and go to your table to explain the food. Their sourdough bread and caramelized butter were SO amazing that I went back and special ordered it two days later. They definitely made me feel like a princess. Do not miss out on this experience! One of the members in our party has an intolerance, and the chef personally came over to our table to ensure the safety of our friend. They went above and beyond to cater to us. Also shout out to Katrina for being the best hostess/waitress in Latvia!!
Phi N — Google review
I was having dinner there during the restaurant week. Very good food and tasty combinations to explore goods from the sea. I appreciate the old fashioned way to get a glass of wine instead the modern device they had that prickled your glass. Other than that all good.
G M — Google review
The pacing between dishes needs significant refinement. From the time the amuse bouche was served, it was a whole 20 minutes before the next dish arrived. The dishes were all quite heavy with cream sauce. I would prefer a lighter, thinner consistency. Overall, the dishes lacked creativity. The heavy cream sauces overshadowed any potential for originality.
Mandy G — Google review
Well, where do I begin? Let's start with the welcome, which was lovely. We chose the tasting menu, so we started with champagne and some oysters. Then the tasting menu commenced. Each course was delicious, and was supported by the sommelier explaining his choice to accompany the dish. Each selection worked perfectly. This was an unforgettable experience, completely delicious, made even better by the wonderful staff. I can't recommend Barents enough, you won't be disappointed.
Peter C — Google review
Incredible experience! The food was amazing, the whole tasting menu is well balanced and full of unexpected flavours. The staff made this dinner truly special, they are friendly and experienced. Overall it’s a fine dining experience and 100% worth the price!

Beautiful people and amazing food!!! Please eat here if you, every single person here is amazing and they will make you feel so special and loved. 🤍🫶
Angely D — Google review
Definitely the most exquisite dining experience in Riga. It would be an understatement to say that Barents actually deserves a Michelin star (or even two). The service is impeccable, the food is top-notch. Definitely recommend the chef’s 12-course testing menu. All the dishes were absolutely unique and inspired by quintessential Latvian flavours and ingredients. Would recommend it to anyone, simply 10/10.
Ivans N — Google review
The food was good, but somehow not reaching top level of enjoyable or excellent. Except bread, that was the best bread I have ever had and accompanied nicely, and for that alone five stars. I had a la carte three course meal, smoked eel least favourite, venison nice, rhubarb dessert the best of the three and with most interesting taste combinations. I suspect my personal taste differs from the chef's concept, still it was undeniably quality food and an enjoyable meal. The service was good.

Stumbled upon this cafe early morning, had been in once and had a latte to take out which had been lovely, smooth and not too strong. Had a second visit the following day and decided to stay in, had a large latte again, once again smooth and nice. Had some music playing in the background not too loud or quiet. Had some people in and they had left. Nice environment, very casual. Barista had spoken English which helps. Coffee between €1.90-€4.10 but goes to €4.90.

Since theres a construction infront of the caffeine the place is like sanctuary. When i arrived there, there was only two people: bartender and one customer. I ordered salted caramel macchiato and sat down. The coffee was amazingly made by the bartender like 10/10 never had better caramel macchiato. I stayed there for 1 hour and by the time only 3 locals came by so it was really nice that it was quiet all the time Definitely worth to visit just dont get crowded here to not destroy the quietness of this place 😉

Offensively slow and understaffed. Slowness is accepted at cafe where the intention is to enjoy there or the drink is of extraordinary quality. Here it is neither. For a cafe with a to-go format, speed is paramount. Unpleasant lighting. Good location maybe
Yamin S — Google review
Many choices for hot and iced coffees. Frappes also available and specials. Few choices of sweet and savory items. From savory they offer stuffed croissants and quiches and on sweet side there are few cakes, pastries and cookies. Would have expected more choices. Coffee was good but they oversugared it. Muffin was dry but croissant tasty. It is super busy in there but atmosphere quite cozy. Servers should know English better as one if them did not understand what was ordered, it is central location and people working there should know basics. Overall good for coffee and quick bite.

It’s a cozy place with great coffee and relaxing vibes. The barista was helpful and patient with me being in two minds of which coffee I want. Marzipan-chocolate muffin is a must by the way. The restroom could be cleaner though

The coffee is great. I think the coffee art is pretty too. They are enough space to find a nice seat. The decoration is quite cozy took. My favorite is the carrot cake, it’s very tasty! Everything were better than Starbuck. Now it’s my favorite place to get my coffee especially during cold days.

Guests can relax in the charming back courtyard illuminated by string lights and indulge in delicious snacks like the innovative burger dog.
Lovely atmosphere, fresh place. The food was very good, we had two different potato pancakes, one with salmon and one with poached egg and bacon. For drinks we had lemonades. Definitely recommend for brunch/lunch.

The place to go to find no nonsense wines and try new & interesting options. Food was lovely in a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Opted for a shrimp pasta dish paired with a refreshing white and a chocolate mousse with a smooth pinot noir to finish.

The cottage cheese pancakes were very good! They were moist and soft inside, with an even texture, and were served not just warm, but hot. Not to mention the super friendly staff! Very attentive and made you feel very welcome🙌 I enjoyed my time here.

I had mixed experiences. While the Eggs Benedict I ordered was perfect, the service was not much. It took quite a while to get the attention of the waitress to place my order, and I had to seek them again for the bill. Additionally, I requested a boiled egg but received something different instead. The cottage cheese pancake was just average. I also want to add the quantity of the food compared to the price is over priced.

Lovely atmosphere, tasty food, friendly staff, and an added bonus — an unexpected outside terrace (accessed through the café), where street sounds are barely audible. It was a nice experience. I’d definitely recommend it. Additional bonus for my dog receiving water without asking, thank you! :)

We came here for brunch and the meal was stunning. They seem to specialise in eggs and it was definitely worth the higher price point. Would recommend to anybody visiting Riga.

I stumbled upon Lowine in Riga and am so glad I did! The staff were incredibly friendly and guided me through a wine tasting to help choose the perfect wine. I tried the avocado and salmon on sourdough was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The ambience was lovely, and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Riga.

While traveling through the Baltic Countries we started to notice behaviour and approach of service staff towards clients. In a book called “de Nomade” by Anja Niewierra we read of the homo sovieticus, lion set free but so condtioned by living in cages that trapped outside in a mental cage. The same we feel with service. The approach is so strange. No greetings, no welcoming words, just ignoring the client and even avoid eye contact. Conversation is kept to bare minimum. It will take generations to lose this no service approach. Let’s hope it will come, this kind of good food needs better and friendlier interaction by staff. Coffee was surprisingly old fashioned with a good amount of robusta, so high on bitterness and low in acid ity. Strange strange looking at the winelist and the password for the Wifi : Naturalwine

A good spot for brunch - they have plenty of dishes and they serve them until 3pm. I've been here 3+ times now and the food is always delicious and plenty. I was actually surprised it was so good, definitely beat my expectations. All brunch dishes are between €10-14 and come with free coffee, but... it does taste like free coffee. Not great, but drinkable. Nice touch anyway. The service is the biggest downside unfortunately, usually not very polite, all mostly russian speaking. But I'll still be returning for brunch!
Anna V — Google review
Had a lovely breakfast here! I tried the cottage cheese pancakes – they were absolutely delicious: soft, fluffy, and perfectly balanced. 🤩👌🏼The portion was generous, served with sour cream and jam. The croissant with salmon, egg, caviar, and cucumber was from the display case not a main menu, but still very tasty. Along with a cappuccino made with plant-based milk, the total was around €20. Highly recommend this place for breakfast! Their deli food for takeaway is also great! Especially the potato gratin, which is wonderfully creamy, with thinly sliced potatoes and a layer of carrots on top.👌🏼 The only thing that felt a bit confusing was the menu, it was given in Russian, and when I looked for the Latvian version, I first found the English one, while the Latvian option was hidden at the very bottom 🙄
Agnese Z — Google review
Went here for a brunch with my other half and our dog. Big plus that they are dog friendly 😊 We were pointed to a table where we can sit when asked if they had place for two people. The place was quite packed with few empty tables. Ordering is done by the counter and you pay once you place an order. Drinks were brought quite quickly although the waiter did forget to bring milk for my black tea. Food is tasty, also didn't need to wait long for it. I got "Zemnieku brokastis/Countryside breakfast" which reminds English breakfast and this was really tasty. Waitress did say that they are out of mushrooms, but agreed to put extra potatoe pancake on the dish. My partner got Tuna tart, it was ok, nothing special although presentation looked nice. And for dessert we got the cottage cheese scones/pancakes and they were amazing. Loved them, soft, moist enough, tasted only after cottage cheese, didn't feel any flour presence. The place it self is interesting, most of it is with tables but one part resembles a convenience store where you can buy a lot of different drinks and takeaway food (or it's food on display that is served as a part of what you ordered, didn't quite get this). Facilities are spacious with lots of light. A lot of stone is used in interior. Also for table surfaces, I froze my hand a bit while sitting by the table on the surface 🤷, weird experience... The place is some 10 minutes walk away from any public transport and is most easily accessible with car.

Perfect place for parents with young kids. That was a surprise when I came here (my bad not checking the reviews) but I was surprised that so many kids are running around here. This is an amazing place for parents who want to have a tasty food while kids are doing something else. The food was really good and tasty. Nothing particularly special, just a good food. Quite a big range of foods to choose from. Good location, near Gallery Riga and center. Service was.nice.and polite. They accept reservations and on busy times I'd recommend to have one. They have two menus - one for breakfast and one for lunch. We were just in time for breakfast menu. For me this was kinda ok experience (nothing great) as I waited for tranquil lunch (but as I said my bad for not checking out the place beforehand). Staff was polite and friendly. I'll come back once I'll have kids for sure.

Might be a good stop for parents as the place has a lot for kids. Unfortunately we visited when cool was way so only boxed salads, quiches or soup. Disappointing for kids expecting more choices including pasta meal - might have to give it a chance again. Decently priced meals. Coffee available.

Awesome rich breakfast plate. Just a minor issue with salmon not cut from its skin and bread should be rye bread instead of white toast bread. Staff was so kind. Matcha was also great.

An absolute gem! The place is catering for the needs of both parents and kids. There is a playroom; bathroom facilities are equipped for small customers; they even offer bibs for kids - very thoughtful. I liked every bit - customer service, food, design and the choice of music played - nice and relaxing. My only constructive feedback point is - cutlery - the knife was blunt and the fork/knife handles are so thin - it literally hurt my fingers to use them.

Nestled in the heart of Riga, Katkevich is a charming café that truly embodies the essence of artisanal dining. With its exposed brick walls and warm wooden accents, this cozy spot invites you to indulge in a delightful Sunday brunch experience. While many flock to their beloved sourdough offerings, Katkevich stands out for its inviting atmosphere and mouthwatering menu.
An authentic place that has thought well about its atmosphere. Here the village and the aristocracy seem to have merged into one mood. Scrambled egg on sweet and sour bread with mushrooms, perfect for salad with avocado and prosciutto. The menu in this place is not large, but it is worked out to the smallest detail. The interior fits perfectly with the idea of the place. The staff works quickly and efficiently. I advise you to reserve a table in advance. Although it is cozy here, there is not a lot of space

Lovely cafe, 100% recommend. We came here straight from the airport, its about a 5 min walk from the last stop on the #22 bus (a great way to get to the city, approx 25mins and €1.50). Staff were fab, food was brilliant. Sourdough is freshly baked on site each day. Definitely recommend the open sandwiches

What a little gem for the fans of breakfast. We had farmer’s breakfast with extra eggs and extra bacon and it was excellent! ( and huge but we couldn’t stop eating). They only serve breakfast but donut all day ( till 16:00). Only a few tables inside. Sourdough open sandwiches with variety of toppings also looked very good ( the table next to us ordered), so we would love to come back for another perfect breakfast for those who like large hearty breakfast

Homy and small little breakfast place specializing in breakfast dishes with homemade bread. Interior is cute and cozy, however location is not the best since it’s on a very busy, polluted, and loud street. Reservations are recommended on the weekends since it has very limited interior seating. Food was delicious, portion was big, however nothing extraordinary. Service was great 👍

Great place! Amazing service, 10/10! The butter was wonderful and so was the toast with goat cheese. Great menu, easy to understand, very nice selection of options and many modifications can be made. The only thing we didn’t like was how close the tables were to each other, but otherwise the interior was very nice and homey. Stockpot is a beloved dining spot in Riga that has expanded to multiple locations since its launch in 2012. The concept revolves around offering quick and easy-to-prepare dishes from various regions including the Middle East, Indochina, Caucasus, and the Mediterranean. The menu features a rotating selection of soups, stews, and curries with options ranging from mild to intensely spicy. Vegetarian and vegan choices are regularly available as well.
Great place for a quick business lunch! Mostly Asian meals with chicken are available. Spicy lovers will find plenty of options, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free dishes.
Dmitry B — Google review
Asian cuisine is not the only option here, but it’s definitely a highlight and a great choice for lunch. The place gets quite popular during lunchtime, often drawing a crowd—sometimes it’s even hard to find a seat. There’s always at least one dish with meat or fish available every day. There are also vegetarian and vegan options. Most of the menu leans toward Asian flavors, offering both unique and familiar dishes of good quality. Since it's focused on lunchtime, it’s not really a dinner spot.
Tatjana — Google review
StockPot is such a great find in Riga! Their Asian fish soup was bursting with flavor and so comforting, and the West African chicken curry was absolutely delicious—rich, hearty, and perfectly spiced. You can really taste the love and creativity that goes into their dishes. A cozy spot with bold, international flavors—I’d definitely recommend it!

If we lived in Riga, we would eat here every day! We had the Thai curry (excellent with the just the right amount of heat) and the hummus and tabbouleh meals (maybe the tabbouleh could have used a bit more lemon). It was a light lunch for us and just perfect before we hit the road. Easy to walk to from Old Town.

Riga Central Market is a sprawling market located by the river, featuring both indoor and outdoor stalls offering a wide variety of goods. The market is housed in five historic buildings that were originally Zeppelin hangars, with each building specializing in different products such as fruits and vegetables, fish, meats, and more. The unique architecture of the market adds to its charm, with its metalwork dating back to the 1920s.
Riga Central Market is a vibrant and fascinating place to explore, and one of the largest and most unique markets in Europe. Housed in impressive former zeppelin hangars, it offers a mix of history, culture, and local flavors all under one roof. The variety is incredible—you can find everything from fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats to local cheeses, smoked fish, baked goods, and traditional Latvian delicacies. Outside, there are also stalls with clothes, crafts, and souvenirs. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, giving you a real taste of everyday life in Riga. It’s the perfect spot to try local snacks, meet friendly vendors, and take in the aromas and colors of Latvian cuisine. ⭐ Tip: Visit in the morning for the freshest products and fewer crowds.

The market is huge and full of life you can find just about everything here, from fresh flowers and local foods to meats, cheeses, spices, and handmade goods. It’s a great place to discover authentic Latvian flavors and everyday life. The market is set inside historic old Zeppelin hangars, which gives it a unique and impressive atmosphere. Each pavilion specializes in different products, making it easy to explore and sample a wide variety of items. I especially enjoyed seeing the fresh produce stands and traditional Latvian treats. It’s not just a place to shop—it’s also a cultural experience, perfect for walking around, tasting, and soaking in the local vibe. Prices are fair, and you’ll find both locals and tourists enjoying the market. If you’re visiting Riga, this is definitely a must-see. 📍 Location: Nēģu iela 7, Riga, Latvia

Great place to sample the local food. There are plenty of fruit and veg stalls, flower stalls and clothing stalls as well as a food market inside. They sell all the traditional dishes for extremely reasonable prices so a great way to eat like the locals. It’s a vibrant, buzzing area that’s definitely worth a visit.

This place is just HUGEEEE! Lots of different departments, one for fruit, veg, others for meat, fish. cheese, deserts. All different ranges and prices depending on who you buy from. Some prices get cheaper along the way. There is a food department where you can eat lots of food again, depends where you want to eat and what you want to eat. But it is so big you’ll definitely leave with something. Clothes also. We walked here as we seen it was difficult to get parking 🅿️ There was a dumping food stall that was just … beautiful 😍 it’s hard to get a seat because in the food area lots of people are piled up.

Top notch restaurant that keeps delivering. Reliable choice for special occasions. We recently celebrated a family event and the lunch was impeccable. We sat inside. The restaurant also has additional seating on the terrace. The service was very attentive and professional with drinks and dishes served in proper order and at the right temperature. The food was great. Big portions, all ingredients fresh and flavourful. The restaurant has one of the most extensive food menus in the city, with plenty to choose from. They also occasionally offer seasonal menus. Last summer we tried chanterelle dishes from chefs special selection and it was great too. This time round we stuck to classics like ox cheeks, steak, lamb, seafood and salads. All dishes were very well executed. I must also mention the quality of drinks. A place in Riga that can deliver a decent pisco sour is a great find. Thank you Riviera team for making our celebratory lunch so enjoyable.

An excellent spot for lunch or dinner - every single dish was outstanding. Even discovered a great Riesling that wasn’t overly sour like most you find in restaurants. From now on, this is my favorite restaurant in Riga. ❤️ Will definitely be coming back! 👏🏻 The only thing that could be improved is the bread that’s served before the meal, but aside from that, everything was absolutely perfect. 👌🏻

The service is very slow, initially we got the appetizers but main dosh came after one hour. Also service was not in balance some of us got appetizers and main dish at the same time, and some waited for soup for more than 50 minutes. Besides that food was very tasteful.

The service was really disappointing. 🤧🤧🤧🤧The waitress was impatient while taking our order and unfriendly throughout the meal. The bar's interior exudes an old-world charm with vintage decor and cozy seating, making it a perfect place to enjoy Balsam cocktails and sweet treats.

Visited in Sep 2025 The Black Magic bar in old town is the most popular bar in Riga due to its menu full of items made using Riga Black Balsam. They have a full cocktail menu where Balsam is one of the ingredients in the drinks, and also have food items where Balsam is a component. We ordered a couple of cocktails (the Black Mojito and the Fresh Black Cranberry) both of which were good. Also ordered a few chocolate truffles which I would also recommend ordering, as they were fantastic. However, if you want to buy bottles of Balsam, you’re better off buying it from a supermart (Rimi) then here because the prices are cheaper in the supermart. Service was fine. We did not have a reservation and did a walk in, and were able to get a seat immediately. But this place can get a bit crowded, and therefore visiting during peak hours may be better with a reservation. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to the Black Magic Bar when you’re in Riga for trying a few cocktails.

This place looks amazing inside, and the atmosphere gets even better with the candlelight. I went in to make a short break from exploring the city and it was an experience in itself. I really enjoyed sitting and relaxing here for a bit. The only downside is that the truffles did not meet my expectations, so I would suggest skipping them altogether and just enjoying a cup of coffe.

Black magic and divine pralines ✨🍫 I walked in by chance… and left enchanted. Here, “Black Magic” isn’t just a name – it’s exactly what happens when you see shelves of Riga Balsam-infused pralines, enjoy a fabulous dessert in a vintage setting, and suddenly feel like a character in a gothic novel with a sweet ending. The vibe? Straight out of a storybook – warm lights, old bricks, servers in vintage outfits, and the scent of fine chocolate in the air. The desserts? A poetic mix of textures and flavors – especially those with the famous Riga Black Balsam, adding a touch of aroma and mystery. The service? Friendly, fast, and effortless. If you’re in Riga and want to treat yourself or bring home a heart-stealing gift – stop by here. You’ve been warned: it’s addictive! 🖤🍒🍫

This place is themed and a tourist hotspot, but it is done well, and the staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is celebratory. They specialise in sweet treats and the local drink Balsam - try the cherry before the classic to ease you in. Can't recommend enough, real candles, a wonderful aesthetic and friendly welcome - what more could you want. Plenty of seats inside and through the back.

It offers a haven of peace with a velvet balsam atmosphere, making it the perfect place to enjoy some of the best cocktails in town. The restaurant hosts live music nights and themed events, drawing in crowds on Fridays and weekends. Additionally, it provides entertainment for children with a well-equipped playroom.
We just had a great lunch here after the organ concert at the Cathedral. Delicious carrot and coconut soup. Tasty potato pancakes with truffle filling. Quiet on a Monday. Excellent service and they have an English menu if needed.

Went there for Riga Restaurant week 2024 with my wife and we're both very positively surprised! First of all, by the photos the portions do not look very big, but we got pretty full, so that was not an issue. All the food was truly amazing, pumpkin basket with halva (fudge) is something out of this world! Duck breast was perfectly cooked! The dessert was a bit too sweet for both of us, but still a good one. This place is definitely one of the Riga gems.

B Bars – Riga Bbars restaurant is located behind the Riga Cathedral in Riga Old Town. Because of its location, it seemed more private than many of the Old Town restaurants. They offer indoor or outdoor seating. Bbars offers a superb selection of European and Latvian cuisine. The restaurant is a favorite watering hole for locals. It offers a happy hour, a live DJ, and a fantastic sharing menu. Latvian potato pancake appetizers are an ideal start to a delightful meal. A must-try soup is Bbars Buyabeze soup, a traditional Latvian cold pink beetroot soup. Do not let the color turn you off. For our main courses, I had a generous portion of Baltic Sea squid, and Mary chose the juicy beef steak. Both came with traditional potato cakes and a variety of local vegetables. We were both delighted with our choices. Riga Black Balsam was our dessert, generously provided by the excellent staff at Bbars. Pro Tip: Riga Black Balsam is a powerful Latvian liqueur. We left Bbars in a happy mood.

Great atmosphere and service, full of people on a Saturday night! DJ plays in the evenings! We decided to try 3 appetizers from the menu - salmon tartare with avocado and cucumber salsa, the portion is very good and very tasty! Vitello tonnato simple and great! But the star of the evening was fried squid, so tender, easy to chew and fabulously tasty, only 11 euros!!! I recommend visiting this place ! And Espresso Martini !👏

Cafe
Cafe Mio was originally intended to be a French sandwich shop but evolved into a cozy and romantic restaurant with a blend of French, Italian, and Mediterranean cuisine using fresh Latvian products. The elegant outdoor terrace adds to the charm of the place. Dishes are prepared individually with organic produce from the owners' private household. The restaurant features exclusive antique crockery from various countries.
Beautifully decorated restaurant with a good menu. The food is very tasty and well presented. Good portion size. The staff are polite and professional. I love the atmosphere. I wish they had something like this in England. But I'm so glad I found it on my visit to Riga.

Mio is an absolute gem in Riga. The owners are warm, welcoming, and share the history of the place in such a heartfelt way that you immediately feel at home. Their family touch adds something truly special to the atmosphere. The interior is full of beautiful historical details, and dining here feels like being in a glamorous manor with elegance in every corner. The food is outstanding — perfectly cooked meat, rich sauces, and every flavor in balance. Everything is made with care and passion. I will definitely return and highly recommend Mio to anyone visiting Riga.

Waited for an hour (literally) without any food or update or checking on, only to be told that it was a mixup when flagged and needed another 12 minutes. Was offered refreshments, non alcoholic drinks, or desserts afterwards. We refused because we did not want any anyways. They still gave us a scoop of sorbet each. At least the food was good. The last thing we wanted after an hour long waiting is mediocre food All in all, we feel that the service is inadequate, not attentive. Considering both the price range and mixups, we didn't get any checking on from the waiter when we did actually get our foods

This Place Doesn't Need A Name Avotu is a popular spot in Riga, offering two cozy cafes located in the city center and Old Riga. They serve rich and varied breakfast options starting from 8 am, including sophisticated meals and vegetarian choices, accompanied by tasty aromatic coffee. Additionally, they are known for their wide cocktail menu, particularly the Negroni cocktail.
This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, but we honestly chose it because of its location. We were conveniently staying across the street. However, it was delicious! The variety of menu options was really great and the food blew us away! I ordered the Turkish Eggs with Labneh and the french toast - I couldn't decide between savory or sweet (and I was on vacation, so why not both!). It obviously proved to be too much food, but my stomach was so happy! WOW - both dishes were so flavorful and well prepared. The service was a bit slower than I think most Americans are used to - it took a long time for the group of 6 of us to eat breakfast (maybe 1.5-2 hours), but we found that very common in Riga. Service was very friendly though! Would definitely recommend as a breakfast/brunch spot.
Tori R — Google review
A brilliant spot in Riga for breakfast! There’s a fantastic selection of food, with a wide range of drinks also available. The only downside is the slow service, likely due to how busy it gets and the limited number of staff. Still, the quality of the food makes it worth the wait.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best breakfast EVER! I visited this place today for the first time – and honestly, it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had! The breakfast burger was absolutely incredible: juicy, perfectly seasoned and my personal recommendation! (Also try the straw-matcha tini) Highly recommended if you’re hungry and love a proper, satisfying start to the day. The service was also outstanding – so warm and genuinely friendly. We felt welcome from the first moment. If you’re looking for an amazing breakfast spot with great food and lovely staff, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back - tomorrow!!!

This is a great place for breakfast. We had a late start of our day and we were so excited to know that they serve breakfast all day! 👍👍 Excellent food and service. Delicious food with excellent presentation. They got our food to us quickly even though the place was full. 👍 The place is a bit small but very cool with indoor and outdoor seating. It was raining and we chose inside which made it feel small with everyone inside. I needed some items changed on my breakfast and they were super easy and flexible to change the items for me. The portions are great and the price is perfect. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Riga. 👏👏👏👏 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

'This Place Doesn’t Need A Name Avotu' is one of several popular branches across Riga, Latvia. We visited this one on September 3rd, 2025, for breakfast, and it turned out to be a great choice. I had scrambled eggs served with delicious mushrooms and truffle sauce, plus extras like potato pancakes and sausages, while we also tried the traditional pancakes. Everything was tasty, and we left with happy faces. A solid spot for a decent breakfast. Recommended!!

Amazing food, I had the smashed burger pancake twist. My friends had the halloumi pancakes and the turkey reuben. It was all very tasty, good sized portions, possibly the nicest burger I've had. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The service was excellent and the waitress provided some places to visit whilst we are here on holiday. Would 100% recommend and would certainly go back to try other things on the menu

Last time was way better. This time visiting Riga, ordering burgers took over 40 minutes. Coffee wasn't very tasty, and when I mentioned that there was something sticky under the plate to the staff, the answer was "OK". The actual place looks nice.

I still have the first memory of coming to this cafe last year January, on a very cold winter. Everything seemed so lifeless and gray in Latvia until I found this place. The smell of croissants and coffee and very nice music that goes along with the atmosphere completely changed the mood of my day. Not just pastries and salad are good, but also the cakes are demuring. I personally recommend the traditional cake Napoleon. I have tried in many different cafes in Latvia to compare the taste. However, none of them has won over Kūkotava yet. The locals have known this place since long, while nowadays many tourists come as well to enjoy brunch or dessert after a meal. Hope you go and give yourself a nice treat. Never bad to start a day with a sweet cake and a warm coffee🍰☕️

I’ve always loved the sweets from this place — everything I’ve tried before has been delicious. That’s why I was so excited to visit the new branch on Antonias 11. Unfortunately, this time I was really disappointed. The pastry I tasted was rubbery, as if it had been baked days ago, and the lemon cream had no lemon flavor or aroma at all. Sadly, it felt like money wasted(

During our trip, we kept coming back to this place — both to their dessert shop and their gourmet deli. The desserts are absolutely wonderful, and the deli is perfect if you’re looking for a quick but delicious lunch or light dinner. They have amazing salads with avocado, shrimp, tuna, or duck, plus tasty quiches and many other options. The coffee is excellent as well. It’s a lovely spot to sit both indoors and outdoors when the weather is nice. We stayed nearby for three days and ended up visiting every single day — and even grabbed some snacks to take home with us. Prices are very reasonable, and whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or just a little bite to go, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Exceptional Croissant in the City Centre — France, Step Aside In the first paragraph, the heart is secure, free to love, and the rest is limitless peace. That’s exactly how I felt biting into this croissant — in the middle of the city, yet completely transported. Forget Paris or Rome. This almond croissant was filled with rich, authentic almond paste — the kind you’d find in an elegant wedding cake, not the diluted stuff served across most of Europe. Baked to perfection: crisp shell, tender center, no excess butter or raw chewiness. The coffee? Strong, rich, and full of personality. A proper roast that lingers. Only downside? The service. When I asked for soy milk, I got a blunt “no” with no follow-up. No smile. No suggestion. For a city full of tourists, that moment lacked grace. Still — for the pastry alone, it’s a must. Pure craftsmanship in the city centre. France, tapisols.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Max Cekot Kitchen is a renowned Michelin-starred restaurant located in an unmarked former factory building just outside of Riga. The restaurant, founded by Maksims Cekots and his wife Natalia Suyetin, offers a unique dining experience with a 10-course tasting menu featuring garden-to-table dishes crafted from their own produce. The chef's elegant journey through the Baltics is reflected in the 9-course seasonal menu, showcasing modern Latvian cuisine.
I had a fantastic experience at Max Cekot Kitchen. Having visited many Michelin-starred restaurants before, what stood out here was how personally and perfectly Chef Max told his story through each dish. It felt like a culinary journey rather than just a dinner. I had the Chef’s Table reservation, so many of the courses were served by Max himself, which added a unique and intimate touch to the evening. The variety and creativity were top-notch – I’ve never had that many types of caviar in one night before. Each course was thoughtfully composed and beautifully executed. If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the wine pairing – it was okay but didn’t quite match the level of the food for me. All in all, I left very satisfied. It was a memorable and well-curated experience. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for something truly special in Riga.
Nikita S — Google review
This restaurant celebrates an amazing dinner experience. The food is phenomenal, but so is the attentive service. The evening starts in the lounge, where you get served the first appetizers, then you go up the stairs to the main dining area for a fantastic meal and in the end you go down to the intermediate floor to receive the petit fours. This restaurant is for sure one of the best in Latvia, but it stands the comparison internationally. It was one of the best dinners I had in years. Don't miss it!
Roman S — Google review
We were visiting Riga from the States, and this restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip. The whole experience is so thoughtful - you begin with a drink and small bites downstairs, have dinner upstairs in the dining room, and then finish with dessert and coffee in a softly lit lounge area. It is perfectly paced from start to finish, and the ambiance of each room is perfect. Max’s menu is a love letter to Latvia and the Baltic region, and we left feeling like we knew so much more about the country’s produce and fauna. The dishes were thoughtful, unique, and beautifully presented. Each member of the team is expertly trained and service is personal, polished, and warm. Max himself brought us the last dessert down in the lounge and asked us our thoughts on the meal and experience. We have eaten at a lot of Michelin starred places, but the best comparison I can make to this restaurant is Blue Hill at Stone Barns - which is a very high bar. This was one of our favorite restaurant experiences ever, and one star simply does not feel like enough.
Max S — Google review
Visited in Sep 2025 Max Cekot Kitchen is the first restaurant in Latvia to earn a Michelin star. Once you’ve dined here, it will be very evident why that is the case. The dining experience here from start to finish is one to cherish. From the time you enter the restaurant till the time you have your petit fours, the level of service offered by the restaurant staff is exemplary. This might have been the best dining experience of mine from a service perspective in 2025. As far as the food is concerned, you start with the amuse bouche courses on the lower floors of the restaurant. There were 4 starter courses served here, post which I was led into the main dining hall which is on a higher floor. The main dining hall is an open kitchen concept where depending on where you’re seated, you can have a full or restricted view of the chefs in action. The courses served here take complex form in terms of preparation, ingredients and presentation. Every course was a joy to consume. Some of the courses are served by the head chef himself, which adds positively to the overall experience. There was a beetroot course which was my favorite dish of the lot due to its uniqueness. After the desserts are served, you are then led again to the bottom floor for the petit fours. For drinks, there is a wine pairing and a non-alcoholic pairing. I went with the latter and absolutely loved my decision. The range of the non-alcoholic drinks served surprised me in a positive way. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience and I would strongly recommend fine dining lovers to visit this restaurant if you’re in Riga.

We absolutely loved our dinner at Max Cekot. The building itself is beautiful, they've done an amazing job retaining the historical elements while transforming it into a magical space to spend an evening. The furniture, tableware and decorations are all works of art themselves and the food presentation is stunning. Some dishes were so beautiful (the beets and cherry in particular), I hesitated to eat it as I didn't want to disturb the art. But I'm glad I got over that because, wow, it was delicious. Loved the focus on local foods and traditional preparations. The non-alcoholic juice pairing was phenomenal! Such creative blending of ingredients that complemented the food well. The staff were all wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. Max and his team should be very proud to have created this restaurant. Paldies!

This Place Doesn’t Need A Name Antonijas is a popular brunch spot with a well-deserved hype. The dark olive hummus and eggs are delicious, and the fresh orange juice complements the brunch perfectly. The menu offers comprehensive options, including pulled pork tacos and Korean tacos. While the nachos were bland, they were overshadowed by the overall great food experience. The restaurant's retro-style video games add to its cool ambiance.
Love This Place Doesn’t Need A Name. Highly recommend Happy Hour for cocktails. Excellent value. Great vibes with friendly atmosphere. Michaela, the waitress, was very helpful and a bartender was making new cocktails every three minutes. Negroni is signature cocktail but they have over thirty different flavors of it.

Had a lovely meal here - the sesame seed-coated halloumi sticks on the bed of hummus were to die for. Service was pretty good, but do check your bill at the end. Mine was 25% over, but quickly rectified when pointed out.

This café turned out to be a very good breakfast spot. The atmosphere was relaxed and unpretentious, with staff who were friendly and kept things moving at a steady pace. The eggs were excellent — cooked properly, seasoned well, and clearly made with some attention rather than just rushed out of the kitchen. The rest of the menu looked appealing too, with options that balanced between classic breakfast choices and lighter café-style plates. The interior was simple but carried enough character to make it feel different from the more generic cafés around the city. Music added a nice background without overwhelming the space. It was a place that did not try to be over-styled, yet it delivered on the basics with quality and consistency.

Great service and a wide variety of breakfast options for every taste. The coffee was very good, and the crab toast came on excellent brioche — but the deep-fried crab meat really didn’t work for me. Next time I’ll go for something with salmon or bacon instead. Still, a lovely place overall!

The menu features a variety of delectable pies, cakes, and an extensive selection of coffee and tea options including popular choices like latte and cappuccino.
What a wonderful place! Especially if you have time to sit and enjoy it for a while. I had a cappuccino, and it was great. Food selection is limited, but quite nice pastry selection. The music they play in the background adds to the atmosphere.

There are a number of coffee places in Riga (most of them outside the old town) that claim to serve specialty coffee. Some of them are quite decent. Strada however is exceptional. Judging by the coffees (did not eat anything) I have had there, they have superior water quality, a great grinder and very good beans. If you have high standards when it comes to the taste of coffee, go there: You will love it!
Konstantin F — Google review
Strada gave a decent impression with food that was steady and reliable rather than remarkable. The service was fine, and the restaurant handled guests smoothly. It did not stand out compared to other meals in the city, though it was acceptable for a casual dinner.
Omer M — Google review
The only non-chain specialty coffee shop that truly deserves all the respect! The interior is cozy and full of character, with a rare and wide variety of teas and coffees, and the terrace during warm months adds a lovely touch. It’s also amazing that they roast their own beans and do it exceptionally well. It might not be “the” spot for someone looking for a full meal with their coffee, but they do offer some cakes and sandwiches that pair nicely. On top of the wonderful tea selection, you can even buy a teapot or a cup for drinking mate. Speaking of their specialty offerings, their V60 is magnificent, I often order it along with chocolate cake. Sometimes I go for a cappuccino, which is always velvety, or an iced latte with a perfect balance of flavours. Another standout aspect is the service. Baristas are always caring and thoughtful, taking drink quality seriously and investing time and effort into preparation. You can ask them about ingredients, recommendations, or even the origins of a particular drink. Special kudos to Daniels for never hesitating to share his knowledge and kind energy. Finally, it’s a wonderful space to work in. There is no discrimination against people using laptops. Perhaps, don’t just work: make sure to try the many amazing options from their drink selection.

Definitely recommend this place, especially in warm weather! They have a charming inner open courtyard that’s perfect for working or relaxing. There’s even a cable available for electricity, so you can comfortably work on your laptop if you enjoy spending time in cafes. The menu has a great variety—not just coffee, but also a solid selection of teas. I also tried the cherry smoothie and it was absolute perfection. Special shout-out for their toilets—clean and really unordinary, in the best way! Highly recommended!

A lovely coffee shop right in the city center, decent for a quick stop with something sweet and a drink. I tried their very fresh cannolo with a regular Americano and left quite happy. Recommended!

I dropped by this café shortly before closing and was pleasantly surprised. The banana bread was tasty, and the atmosphere felt warm and comfortable. The bartender was friendly and attentive, which made the short visit enjoyable. A nice place for a quick stop if you’re in the area.

Lovely café with cute and helpful staff. I had “pancakes” filled with cheese and sour cream and drank black coffee, everything tasted great. If you are super hungry you should probably eat something more. The quiche was good too, according to my friend!

Delicious cinnamon roll with mascarpone glaze 😋 not too sweet yet very flavorful and tasty for a gluten-free baked good. Price was €3. Definitely more of a grab and go spot, not for dining in.

100% GLUTENFREE Top notch Bakery and Café for the discerning glutenfree gourmet guys who want to experience something mouthwatering beyond the usual gluten- and oat-free offerings. Also organic and special baked every day and everything is handmade! A lot of efforts and love is the key! Really juicy ham and cheese bread buns with absolutely perfect texture! This is the right place for indulging and overeating buns, cookies, cakes, pizza slices, bread - you want to be sure you don't miss anything from their delicious, tasty, yummy repertoire of options.😋 Also buy online, shipping within Europe, products delivered in gas packaging for the products to stay fresh. Coeliac safe, gluten free bakery serving up truly delicious baked savoury and sweet goods. FOOD: Great variety of flans, tarts, rolls, slices and bread rolls. They also sell uncooked gluten free pasta you can take away. They have water for free. Popular items like their cinnamon scroll sell out earlier in the day. The ingredients are of high quality and the items have plenty of filling. SEATING: In and outdoor seating available, more suited to groups of 2-4 than 8+. There is a step up, so it's not super wheelchair/walker friendly inside. STAFF: Really lovely, joyous and attentive staff who are passionate about what they do. OVERALL: Highly recommend and will be back! Plus your yellow purpose-built seating outside is just a gorgeous piece of artwork too! Thanks!

UPD: I previously left a negative review because my order was missing three canelés. I’d like to correct that and thank you for how you handled the situation! I received a package with bread, canelés, and a poppy seed bun – everything was absolutely delicious. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture! Thank you for caring about your customers and for your amazing pastries. Now I know for sure that I’ll be coming back♥️ I visited your bakery yesterday (March 17, 2025) and purchased several pastries, including three pieces of canelé. However, when I got home, I realized that they were missing from my order, even though they are clearly listed on my receipt😩

One of the best bread bakery!!! Delicious bread, pastry and coffee. Cashiers (bakers) were nice and SUPER helpfull. They accept cards.

Had a very disappointing experience here. Came to buy a birthday cake for my friend who is gluten free, when we got there the woman was clearly angry that we were there. She told us we couldn’t sit down on the seats outside as she was closing in 40 minutes, we asked if we could sit outside until then and she said no. She tried putting the cake in a bag and we asked if we could have it in a box as we’d brought candles and she kept telling us they don’t have many boxes. Eventually she gave us a box after explaining again it was for a friends birthday. After all that, the pastries were dry and without much flavour.

I had an absolute blast at this place during my stay in Riga. The GF buns and pastries were divine, I couldn’t resist coming back not once, but three times! If you’re Celiac, don’t bother searching for a gluten-free bakery. Just ask your GPS to take you to this place, and you’ll be in for a treat!
Katarina S — Google review
100% gluten free bakery Bread was really good I recommend the cinnamon roll with mascarpone and Philadelphia topping, and the sandwich with mortadella. Only negative is that they don’t have nothing to heat your food so if you eat in house you might eat your slice of pizza cold (it was still very good).

Art center Zuzeum, founded by collectors Dina and Janis Zuzans, is a private museum showcasing a renowned collection of over 5000 Latvian Modern and contemporary art pieces. Housed in a former factory southeast of the Old town, the center is undergoing development to become a vast art complex. The expansion includes a new contemporary building adjacent to the 1910 factory and a sculpture park for visitors.
Sublime little museum of modern art. Was exposed to Eastern European artists from the 70s, that were incredible! The bar and museum bookshop were equally exquisite.
Alexis R — Google review
The best museum in Latvia 🇱🇻 I ever visited I would like to share here and also a leading museum internationally. The location is absolutely great, the spaces where art objects are shown are wonderful containing space & perfect light and this museum happens to be the only museum which is professionally dedicated to exclusive contemporary art in Latvia. To visit the Zuzeum in Riga will be the best choice concerning contemporary art in any case. I also added a couple of fotos of the Erwin Wurm exhibition. I couldn’t believe what I saw at this exhibition and art fans know that this is the first solo show exhibited outside of Wurms home country in Austria, Vienna just maybe a year ago. It is incredible what has been achieved in this outstanding space of art in the Zuzeum Museum Riga. Thanks again to anybody involved in this exhibition and to the staff in general for the constant effort in showing contemporary art in the most beautiful way possible.

Visit if you can! I love this place! It always has the best exhibitions. Do NOT miss the current one - "How it is" by Erwin Wurm. This one is interactive, so you can (and are encouraged to) actually touch and climb some of the exhibits. Make sure to read the signs to know which ones you can touch! Oh, and the cafe and gift shop are stunning as well. There is a rooftop terrace too.

There was a marvellous exhibition of Erwin Wurm when we visited Zuzeum which will be open until 14th of September 2025. No other art works were displayed but it was still worth to visit.

This is a fantastic place for contemporary art lovers. The exhibitions are diverse, thought-provoking, and well-curated, with both local and international artists represented. The building itself is interesting and spacious, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Some exhibits could use more context or explanations for visitors unfamiliar with modern art, but overall it’s an inspiring and enjoyable visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Riga’s art scene!
Orlando C — Google review
I saw the Erwin Wurm exhibition, it was fun and I loved how the artworks invited the viewer to interact with them (pro tip if you want to get drunk for the price of an entrance ticket: there's a piece which literally tells you to get drunk and offers the alcohol 🤣). The building itself was lovely, with a small sculpture park outside and a roof terrace.

Art Center Zuzeum is a must-visit for anyone interested in modern and contemporary art. The exhibitions are thought-provoking, beautifully curated, and feature a mix of local and international artists. The gallery space is bright and welcoming, with plenty of room to appreciate each piece. The staff are friendly and eager to share insights about the art. The cafe is nice and modern. I give just 3 stars because the cacao ( hot chocolate as we call it in USA and UK) was very plain and ordinary. Not the best I’ve had. I would buy hot chocolate in other cafes. On Sunday it was the emptiest of all the cafes I checked out so if you want a quiet cafe that’s almost empty on a Sunday. This is the one

Nice coffee shop with cozy decoration, the staff are kind, cool and welcoming. The coffee is tasty. They have a terrace so you sit and chill. I went for the four starts just because of the croissant, you could do better with a real French croissant, but the rest is fine. The coffee is well located in the city and could get there from the old town in 10 minutes or less

Good desserts, but there are almost no dishes that aren’t sweet, aside of the “salmon wrap” that was actually mozzarella and had no salmon, wasn’t a problem for me, however it could be a big one for somebody lactose intolerant

Cafe Mimosa in Riga is a popular spot known for its all-day breakfast and lunch offerings. The menu features a variety of delectable dishes such as coconut milk porridge, French omelette with stracciatella and shaved truffles, and crispy hash browns topped with sour cream and caviar.
Delicious and tasty breakfast options This spot is perfect for breakfast lovers looking for something different. They serve dishes that are hard to find elsewhere like poached egg dishes and Japanese omelet (was very very good and big portion), which take skill to make and aren’t offered in many places. The coffee and tea were both great, and the atmosphere made it a really pleasant place to sit and relax. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend for a unique and tasty breakfast experience. I am not a fan of breakfast cafes, just wanted to try it out, so I probably won’t go there once more, but still I really liked the experience and food.
Diana S — Google review
The Food was delicious, well seasoned and presented. Even tho the place was full when we arrived we got a table in a few minutes and the food didn’t take long. We had the cottage cheese pancakes with seasonal jam and the Benedict breakfast. The only thing I’d do next time be making a reservation.
Aleksa C — Google review
After seeing Cafe Mimosa mentioned in almost every breakfast review before my trip to Riga, Latvia, I decided it had to be my first breakfast stop. My initial impression was positive, the simple, tasteful design gave it a better than average feel. I ordered their popular poached eggs with asparagus, as well as a poached egg on gravlax over a potato pancake. Both dishes were simply amazing in terms of taste and texture. That said, the portions were extremely small for real! We ended up ordering traditional pancakes just to avoid being hungry before starting our first long day exploring the city. I realize portion sizes in Riga are generally smaller, but it’s still worth mentioning! On the service side, I had to wait nearly 10 minutes for the bill before finally going to the counter to pay myself, as the request had been forgotten. For everything (the dishes above plus two regular coffees), the total came to €49! Overall, while the food was excellent, I’m not sure I’d recommend it to travelers on a tighter budget, given the portion sizes and overall value. I tried to make this review as honest as possible.
Kalyoner — Google review
I stopped by for a last minute lunch. The interior was very pleasant and stylish, the staff were super friendly. Fantastic menu and food was served very quickly. I enjoyed every bite! Everything I ordered was delicious. I recommend oat porridge with coconut milk and cherry jam, this was the best. The alternative milk they had was Pea milk which is rare to find, well done. Highly recommend this place!
Alina M — Google review
I loved the food quality and the way it was presented. Definitely worth taking pictures. The coconut porridge was good, but the portion was very small. The omelette is one of the best in town, in my opinion, but adding extra salmon and avocado makes it a bit pricey (17€+). Overall, it’s a lovely place with beautiful food and interior, but slightly overhyped.
Anastasia T — Google review
I’ve been here twice. The interior is very stylish, and the location is convenient, close to the quiet center. Both times we came for breakfast, the place was fully packed, so it’s worth booking a table in advance to avoid waiting at the entrance. The first time, I tried the Eggs Benedict. Nothing special, though I was expecting more because of what my friends and the internet reviews said. The second time, I went for their chicken sandwiches - and those were truly unique and delicious. Everything came together perfectly: fresh cabbage, grilled chicken, spiciness, and a hint of sourness. It was simply magical. On the same day, I also tried my friend’s cottage cheese pancakes, and those were disappointing. They had a nice crispy crust on the outside, but the inside was slimy and runny. There are a lot of tables for such a small place, which sometimes makes it feel less cozy. I might come back again just for the sandwiches.
Artjoms A — Google review
Food was excellent, found this place from recommendations via TikTok, but it really wasn’t overrated! Smaller portions however they were super delicious and flavorful, coffee was very good too. The vibe was great, super stylish people around

We had such a lovely time at Caffe Mimosa in Riga! 🥰 The place has a modern, fresh vibe that makes it perfect for a casual brunch or a relaxed meal in the city. We ordered the omelette with fried rice, a hearty chicken sandwich loaded with flavor, and fresh fruit drinks, and everything was absolutely delicious. The presentation was neat, portions were generous, and the taste didn’t disappoint at all. The drinks were especially refreshing and paired perfectly with the food. Service was friendly and quick, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. This café definitely knows how to do comfort food with style. ⭐ 10/10 Highly recommended!

Adorable place! I was looking for coffee on a Sunday morning and found this place and everything about it was amazing. The coffee was very good and they had sprout milk as a non-dairy option which was great. I also had some of the freshly baked cookies and they were so good – not too sweet and you could tell they use very good ingredients and real spices. The service was also extraordinary, very friendly and welcoming and full of energy. My favourite coffee place in Riga so far. Thank you

This place is the cutest with the loveliest staff. Nordic influence with a dash of Portugese perhaps? Both sweet and savoury pasteis de nata on offer but my favourite was the cinnamon bun. Short trip to Riga or else I wouldve definitely be back for the other pastries. Recommended
Dontwaitdate — Google review
after living in portugal im usually very skeptical of other places making pastel de natas or their spin offs but kūre certainly delivered. sure, pistachio flavor isnt original (though you can get an original pastel de nata there as well!) but it was divine. best of both worlds - pastel de nata /and/ pistachios? i found the pastry to be flaky and crispy, not greasy at all. custard was creamy but light - good pistachio flavor and also not too sweet. honestly, 10/10. 🫶🏻

Housed in a former 90s car repair shop right across from the sleek Zuzeum art center, it offers an inviting atmosphere that feels both artistic and welcoming.

The place to go to find no nonsense wines and try new & interesting options. Food was lovely in a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Opted for a shrimp pasta dish paired with a refreshing white and a chocolate mousse with a smooth pinot noir to finish.

Nestled in a cozy and modern space, The Ned is a charming cafe that offers an intimate setting to enjoy specialty coffee and bean-to-bar chocolate. With a focus on quality, the cafe serves pour-overs brewed on a state-of-the-art machine, featuring unique flavors like cranberry, fudge, vanilla, hazelnut, plum, and blood orange.
The service was good, and I appreciated that they offer single-origin chocolate. However, I was a bit disappointed that they only had milk chocolate and no dark chocolate options. The coffee was delicious—I had an Americano, but it was prepared like filtered coffee, so I'm unsure why they labeled it as Americano, as filter coffee would have been a better fit. One downside is that the place is quite small, and since it was empty, I felt a bit uncomfortable staying, so I opted for takeaway.
Max G — Google review
Aesthetically pleasing coffee/chocolate spot with a well-thought-out design and attention to detail. However, the service was a bit slow.
Anna J — Google review
Such a lovely little spot where every detail has been thought through. Wonderful service from the barista, who was really friendly and kind. Love the fact that the cafe is tucked away from the main streets of the city centre while still remaining central, definite adds to the charm.
Lauma B — Google review
This café is really overrated. Ordered two americanos, got them in paper mugs without even being asked if it's takeaway or not. Coffee was just ok, definitely not worth a slightly higher price than some other average place. All that would be perfectly normal. But the clearly unpleasant or even angry attitude of the person working at the café made the whole short visit just ridiculous. Why open a café if you don't like having customers? Just change the name to The End and close this place down. Latvian people are not very friendly in general, but this was over the top.
Krzysztof Z — Google review
had the best a iced americano of my life here! super friendly chatty staff which you don’t find often in riga, and let me use their charger so a double slay. keep in mind - the cafe is quite small, so bigger tables to seat a larger company won’t be possible

Actually one of the best coffees I have had in a while- cappuccino decaf was just perfect. It was a little loud inside with the music and as the place is small and I was there at an hour when it was quiet, it was a bit akward haha. Design is cute, great tables and an outdoor terrace. Don’t expect a nice view as the buildings on the street are very run down.
