Lido is a well-known chain of budget-friendly restaurants in Riga, offering traditional Latvian cuisine and home-brewed beer at an average cost of 10 to 25 EUR. Founded in 1987, Lido has become a symbol of Latvian culinary culture since the country's independence in 1991.
Went with our 2.5years old son and spend 3 hours there. He enjoyed some games, the waters and the food. It's definitely a solution for families 👪 with small children if you are in Riga

I visited Latvia for the first time, and if you're looking to experience local food, this is definitely the place! There was a wide variety of choices, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is amazing for kids. I would definitely return.

This is one best food places in Riga. Do not overload your plates and your tummy will be happy afterwards! Affordable and very tasty. Can get busy and peak times but plenty odnspace to sit down outside and downstairs if weather not on your side. Highly recommended! Everyone will find something for themselves.
Must come place! Huge variety of high quality food items including vegetarian meals. In one place you could try Baltic, Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian, Scandinavian dishes. And you won't believe how affordable they are! Three stories high, free parking, free public washrooms. Incredible architectural design - all wooden structures, made from huge logs.
Latvian famous restaurant chain, it is a must do when visiting Riga. The food is ok, don’t expect 5 stars meal. It’s an affordable self restaurant place and the food is good for canteen style place! Pleasant experience
If you love noisy organized chaos and endless choices of food, snacks, desserts and drinks then Lido is your place but not for those of us suffering badly from gluten sensitivities. Of course there are gluten-free options but the information you have to check it carefully yourself and the contamination risk is very high if you're extremely sensitive to gluten. I settled for a glass of gluten free strawberry mousse in vanilla sauce which was absolutely delicious and filling, worth a revisit as well. The place is large, huge, a really vast area with different kitchens and menues. The building is divided into many different sections and the patios in a variety of many brightly decorated exteriors, similar to an amusement park. Lido is also easily accessible by public transportations from Riga city center. Very easy to get there by any bus or trams.
Well worth visiting for the food alone. I was there "between the seasons" so not all the bells and whistles going on in the yard theam park. The food is good and so plentiful. The self service almost make it hard to choose among so many dishes. Suitable for all ages.

Ok let’s say I read many things about this place , so I did booked the table and me and my partner decided to finish our amazing trip to Riga with this little cosy place. I would not say it’s bad or it’s a best food experience I ever had it was… ok. Presentation of the each dish is the win win situation to the restaurant however… salmon tartare taste like … chopped salmon and avocado.. ok .. pikeperch fillet taste like … fish .. lamb shoulder taste like lamb etc etc. there where no this full of flavour dishes. It looked amazing but within this amazing looks the wow effect ends… there where no Wow taste effect. Which was a bit of a shame. Place nice, cosy, can’t blame a thing really and it was the busiest restaurant we saw for this entire Easter weekend. But unfortunately I have to rate as 4 stars but purely because of the presentation. Otherwise it would be 3 stars for actual food taste.

The food had lovely presentation but was lacking flavour. We started with trout tratare with avocado which was lovely. Then we got the signature pork ribs and the fish. The pork was good but the fish was lacking a bit of flavour. The staff was really nice .
Cozy spot in the heart of Old Town!
The food was absolutely delicious - the baked Camembert with balsamic-roasted grapes and green pistachios was a standout, and the pan-fried pikeperch fillet with green pea purée and mango-pistachio tartare was truly exquisite. Kudos to the chef!
Though, the atmosphere was a bit of a letdown. The space is quite small, and somehow the noise bounces off the walls and becomes overwhelming - it really affected the overall experience, we had to scream to hear each other. I would expect such a noise at a bar/pub, but not at a good restaurant. But probably it happened due to this evening the restaurant was packed with some really loud groups. A reservation is definitely recommended, as the space is limited.
One interesting observation: we were the only locals there, which likely explains the pricing. It’s more tourist-oriented in that sense, not really a local’s everyday spot.
All in all, a charming and cozy place with fantastic food.
We have just finished a superb meal at Domini Canes. The service was attentive, the food beautifully presented and menu choices really interesting - we loved it! We also thought it was excellent value for money.
Went here with my wife after strolling the old Town on our first day in Riga.....We sat outside and had a fantastic meal.....Everything here was as promised....With a twist up......Nice atmosphere and had we sat inside we'd had the same experience.....

Such a charming retro café in the old town, right next to a church in a very picturesque spot. The interior is full of vintage touches and funny quotes on the walls that give it a lot of character, with 60s–70s music playing to match the vibe. We visited on a rainy day and it was the perfect cozy place to enjoy our coffee. A great choice if you’re looking for something warm and atmospheric in Riga.
Location and vibes are very suggestive, prices are on the high side 5€ for a hot chocolate and 4.50€ for a hot tea.
Haven’t tried any food but they have a selection of cakes at the entrance (not sure about gluten free or vegan options).
It is a nice cafe to pass by for an afternoon tea or when it is cold outside.
Romantic & Calm Vibe at an Affordable Price!
We absolutely loved the cozy, romantic atmosphere. We tried the Royal Auglu Tea, Carrot Cake, and Irish Coffee , all were superb! The carrot cake stood out with a balanced flavor, not too sweet, just right .
The staff provided great service, making the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!
The prices are for sure on the higher end (27eur for 2 cakes, 2 coffees and 1 non-alcoholic cocktail as of October 2025, in other places in Riga you would pay 15ish EUR for that amount at the moment). However, the prices are fully justified here you pay also for the quality, atmosphere and good service.
Both lime and chocolate cakes were very fresh and nicely balanced in terms of sweetness, chocolate one was our favorite - the combination of ingredients in that was very intriguing and something I've never seen anywhere else (positively). Coffee was aromatic.
Amazing service upon our visit on 07.10.25 during the evening - we arrived with flowers and the employee offered and provided a vase for the time of our visit. Kindly told us about each available cake. Waiting time for the order was not long at all.

Parunāsim kafe'teeka, located in Riga’s lovely Old Town, describes itself as the most romantic coffee shop in town and I think I can see why.
I visited on September 2nd, 2025, during my second day in the city as part of our Baltics tour. The design, seating, and overall atmosphere are so charming that the place almost invites you in on its own.
They offer a wide selection of cakes and beverages, and with its calm, quiet environment, it’s the perfect spot to take a break and recharge in the middle of a long day exploring the Old Town. Highly recommended to everyone visiting the old town!!

I would say it it THE BEST coffee shop in Riga.
It always full and there’re few reasons for this.
There are few options of beans for espresso. I choose Ethiopia beans with fruity and sour taste. Next time I will try another option. Also, would be great to ask for different water proportions and grinding. I like 1 to 2 water proportion, it should make it less sour.

Cool place to have a coffee! It is also possible to work, many people does. I got the batch brew from Brazil but I wasn’t very impressed, the tones I got was reminder the vinegar most. It is a personal taste as well I am sure that they have other coffee beans more suitable to my taste. Mozzarella sandwich with rye bread was great though. Also the staff is very nice and helpful, they let me try also the other batch of the from Tanzania (which I also also didn’t like much because it has the citrus tones). I would recommend if you are in the neighbourhood. This is one of the best cafes in the town..
I wasn’t really a coffee person, but man, this place literally changed me! Great coffee, pastries as well as other drinks and foods. Plenty of seats, super welcoming staff and atmosphere, you can see the guys making your sandwich, roasting your coffee, location is among the best streets in the city. Gun to head, life on the line, I couldn’t name a single thing I dislike about this place!

Great breakfast cafe, ordered american pancakes and my husband ordered fried eggs and bacon and both were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I recommend u give it a try. If u like strong coffee I ordered a flat white and it didn’t disappoint. Orange juice is freshly squeezed.

Cozy Breakfast Spot with Room to Improve
A lovely place for breakfast with friendly service. The Francis omelet and avocado toast with mozzarella were delicious, beautifully presented, and made with quality ingredients.
The American pancakes, although visually appealing, were very tough—so firm it was hard to cut them with a knife.
Still, a nice spot overall, but the kitchen has some room to improve. 🍳🥑🥞
So far the best place in Riga's centre to have coffee (and work in my case)! Very nice and attentive staff, cozy atmosphere, soft music, and good coffee. Nice place for breakfast or lunch, as here you can find much bigger variety than in a usual coffee shop. Highly recommended!

This place serves the best coffee I have had in Riga (so far, at least). The menu is accessed via QR code, which seems to be quite common here, but I expect there are other ways to order if you don't have a smartphone. The food was good (although there were no potatoes, and I love potatoes), and the atmosphere was great. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English.
Innocent Café was a decent stop for breakfast in Riga. The food leans more towards an American-style breakfast, and while nothing too unique, both the dishes and the coffee were tasty.
Although coffee is a bit expensive, 1€ extra for alternative milk this place is a gem. Waitresses are really friendly and food is awesome. I had a tunna sandwich for breakfast and then the daily menu which is only 7.99€ . Highly recommendable.

This restaurant needs to have their star! Incredible food, incredible service, incredible experience. We had the seafood platter, the trout, and scallops and complimentary oysters. The chefs are personable and go to your table to explain the food.
Their sourdough bread and caramelized butter were SO amazing that I went back and special ordered it two days later.
They definitely made me feel like a princess. Do not miss out on this experience!
One of the members in our party has an intolerance, and the chef personally came over to our table to ensure the safety of our friend. They went above and beyond to cater to us.

I was having dinner there during the restaurant week. Very good food and tasty combinations to explore goods from the sea. I appreciate the old fashioned way to get a glass of wine instead the modern device they had that prickled your glass. Other than that all good.
The pacing between dishes needs significant refinement. From the time the amuse bouche was served, it was a whole 20 minutes before the next dish arrived.
The dishes were all quite heavy with cream sauce. I would prefer a lighter, thinner consistency. Overall, the dishes lacked creativity. The heavy cream sauces overshadowed any potential for originality.

Let's start with the welcome, which was lovely.
We chose the tasting menu, so we started with champagne and some oysters.
Then the tasting menu commenced.
Each course was delicious, and was supported by the sommelier explaining his choice to accompany the dish. Each selection worked perfectly.
This was an unforgettable experience, completely delicious, made even better by the wonderful staff.
I can't recommend Barents enough, you won't be disappointed.

The service is impeccable, the food is top-notch.

The food was good, but somehow not reaching top level of enjoyable or excellent. Except bread, that was the best bread I have ever had and accompanied nicely, and for that alone five stars. I had a la carte three course meal, smoked eel least favourite, venison nice, rhubarb dessert the best of the three and with most interesting taste combinations. I suspect my personal taste differs from the chef's concept, still it was undeniably quality food and an enjoyable meal. The service was good.

Caffeine LV is a popular coffee chain with several locations in Riga, including two in Old Town. One of the branches is situated on Kalku iela, not far from the Cat House. The menu offers a variety of hot and iced coffees, frappes, as well as some sweet and savory items such as stuffed croissants, quiches, cakes, pastries, and cookies.
Good and quiet place. Only one place that work on early morning in Old Riga. There was a new worker (barista) served us on english 10/10, fast and tasty coffee

Stumbled upon this cafe early morning, had been in once and had a latte to take out which had been lovely, smooth and not too strong. Had a second visit the following day and decided to stay in, had a large latte again, once again smooth and nice. Had some music playing in the background not too loud or quiet. Had some people in and they had left. Nice environment, very casual. Barista had spoken English which helps. Coffee between €1.90-€4.10 but goes to €4.90.
Since theres a construction infront of the caffeine the place is like sanctuary. When i arrived there, there was only two people: bartender and one customer. I ordered salted caramel macchiato and sat down. The coffee was amazingly made by the bartender like 10/10 never had better caramel macchiato. I stayed there for 1 hour and by the time only 3 locals came by so it was really nice that it was quiet all the time

Many choices for hot and iced coffees. Frappes also available and specials. Few choices of sweet and savory items. From savory they offer stuffed croissants and quiches and on sweet side there are few cakes, pastries and cookies. Would have expected more choices. Coffee was good but they oversugared it. Muffin was dry but croissant tasty. It is super busy in there but atmosphere quite cozy. Servers should know English better as one if them did not understand what was ordered, it is central location and people working there should know basics. Overall good for coffee and quick bite.
The humidty is too high so there is a heavy smell. The floor need to be changed. Service is good.
It’s a cozy place with great coffee and relaxing vibes. The barista was helpful and patient with me being in two minds of which coffee I want. Marzipan-chocolate muffin is a must by the way.

The coffee is great. I think the coffee art is pretty too. They are enough space to find a nice seat. The decoration is quite cozy took. My favorite is the carrot cake, it’s very tasty! Everything were better than Starbuck. Now it’s my favorite place to get my coffee especially during cold days.

The place to go to find no nonsense wines and try new & interesting options. Food was lovely in a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Opted for a shrimp pasta dish paired with a refreshing white and a chocolate mousse with a smooth pinot noir to finish.
The cottage cheese pancakes were very good! They were moist and soft inside, with an even texture, and were served not just warm, but hot.

I had mixed experiences. While the Eggs Benedict I ordered was perfect, the service was not much. It took quite a while to get the attention of the waitress to place my order, and I had to seek them again for the bill. Additionally, I requested a boiled egg but received something different instead. The cottage cheese pancake was just average. I also want to add the quantity of the food compared to the price is over priced.
Lovely atmosphere, tasty food, friendly staff, and an added bonus — an unexpected outside terrace (accessed through the café), where street sounds are barely audible. It was a nice experience.

I stumbled upon Lowine in Riga and am so glad I did! The staff were incredibly friendly and guided me through a wine tasting to help choose the perfect wine. I tried the avocado and salmon on sourdough was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The ambience was lovely, and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Riga.
While traveling through the Baltic Countries we started to notice behaviour and approach of service staff towards clients. In a book called “de Nomade” by Anja Niewierra we read of the homo sovieticus, lion set free but so condtioned by living in cages that trapped outside in a mental cage. The same we feel with service. The approach is so strange. No greetings, no welcoming words, just ignoring the client and even avoid eye contact. Conversation is kept to bare minimum. It will take generations to lose this no service approach. Let’s hope it will come, this kind of good food needs better and friendlier interaction by staff. A good spot for brunch - they have plenty of dishes and they serve them until 3pm.
I've been here 3+ times now and the food is always delicious and plenty. I was actually surprised it was so good, definitely beat my expectations.
All brunch dishes are between €10-14 and come with free coffee, but... it does taste like free coffee. Not great, but drinkable. Nice touch anyway.
The service is the biggest downside unfortunately, usually not very polite, all mostly russian speaking.
But I'll still be returning for brunch!
Had a lovely breakfast here! I tried the cottage cheese pancakes – they were absolutely delicious: soft, fluffy, and perfectly balanced. 🤩👌🏼The portion was generous, served with sour cream and jam. The croissant with salmon, egg, caviar, and cucumber was from the display case not a main menu, but still very tasty. Along with a cappuccino made with plant-based milk, the total was around €20.
Highly recommend this place for breakfast! Their deli food for takeaway is also great! Especially the potato gratin, which is wonderfully creamy, with thinly sliced potatoes and a layer of carrots on top.👌🏼
The only thing that felt a bit confusing was the menu, it was given in Russian, and when I looked for the Latvian version, I first found the English one, while the Latvian option was hidden at the very bottom 🙄

We were pointed to a table where we can sit when asked if they had place for two people. The place was quite packed with few empty tables.
Ordering is done by the counter and you pay once you place an order.
Drinks were brought quite quickly although the waiter did forget to bring milk for my black tea.
Food is tasty, also didn't need to wait long for it.
I got "Zemnieku brokastis/Countryside breakfast" which reminds English breakfast and this was really tasty. Waitress did say that they are out of mushrooms, but agreed to put extra potatoe pancake on the dish.
My partner got Tuna tart, it was ok, nothing special although presentation looked nice.
And for dessert we got the cottage cheese scones/pancakes and they were amazing. Loved them, soft, moist enough, tasted only after cottage cheese, didn't feel any flour presence.
The place it self is interesting, most of it is with tables but one part resembles a convenience store where you can buy a lot of different drinks and takeaway food (or it's food on display that is served as a part of what you ordered, didn't quite get this).
Facilities are spacious with lots of light. A lot of stone is used in interior. Also for table surfaces, I froze my hand a bit while sitting by the table on the surface 🤷, weird experience...
The place is some 10 minutes walk away from any public transport and is most easily accessible with car.
Cosy and delicious place, where you can eat one of the best “Egg Benedict” in town. And afterwards you can do a grocery shopping right in the Mils cafè. Always up for all the trends (Dubai chocolate, Raspberry chocolate and so). Highly recommended!

Perfect place for parents with young kids.
That was a surprise when I came here (my bad not checking the reviews) but I was surprised that so many kids are running around here. This is an amazing place for parents who want to have a tasty food while kids are doing something else.

An absolute gem! The place is catering for the needs of both parents and kids. There is a playroom; bathroom facilities are equipped for small customers; they even offer bibs for kids - very thoughtful. I liked every bit - customer service, food, design and the choice of music played - nice and relaxing.
My only constructive feedback point is - cutlery - the knife was blunt and the fork/knife handles are so thin - it literally hurt my fingers to use them.

Lovely cafe, 100% recommend. We came here straight from the airport, its about a 5 min walk from the last stop on the #22 bus (a great way to get to the city, approx 25mins and €1.50). Staff were fab, food was brilliant. Sourdough is freshly baked on site each day. Definitely recommend the open sandwiches
What a little gem for the fans of breakfast. We had farmer’s breakfast with extra eggs and extra bacon and it was excellent! ( and huge but we couldn’t stop eating). They only serve breakfast but donut all day ( till 16:00). Only a few tables inside. Sourdough open sandwiches with variety of toppings also looked very good ( the table next to us ordered), so we would love to come back for another perfect breakfast for those who like large hearty breakfast

Homy and small little breakfast place specializing in breakfast dishes with homemade bread. Interior is cute and cozy, however location is not the best since it’s on a very busy, polluted, and loud street. Reservations are recommended on the weekends since it has very limited interior seating. Food was delicious, portion was big, however nothing extraordinary. Service was great 👍

Asian cuisine is not the only option here, but it’s definitely a highlight and a great choice for lunch. The place gets quite popular during lunchtime, often drawing a crowd—sometimes it’s even hard to find a seat. There’s always at least one dish with meat or fish available every day. There are also vegetarian and vegan options. Most of the menu leans toward Asian flavors, offering both unique and familiar dishes of good quality. Since it's focused on lunchtime, it’s not really a dinner spot.
StockPot is such a great find in Riga! Their Asian fish soup was bursting with flavor and so comforting, and the West African chicken curry was absolutely delicious—rich, hearty, and perfectly spiced. You can really taste the love and creativity that goes into their dishes. A cozy spot with bold, international flavors—I’d definitely recommend it!
If we lived in Riga, we would eat here every day! We had the Thai curry (excellent with the just the right amount of heat) and the hummus and tabbouleh meals (maybe the tabbouleh could have used a bit more lemon). It was a light lunch for us and just perfect before we hit the road. Easy to walk to from Old Town.
I’ve been a regular customer since moving to Riga a few years ago and this is still my favourite lunch spot in the city. Great, quick food and one of the few options in the city centre if you want spicy food. Chilli Wednesday is still one of the highlights of my week.

If you like great food at a reasonable price, the central market is waiting for you. SO MUCH FOOD! Everything was fresh and was as alluring to the nose as it was to the palate. Great place to sample the local food. There are plenty of fruit and veg stalls, flower stalls and clothing stalls as well as a food market inside. They sell all the traditional dishes for extremely reasonable prices so a great way to eat like the locals. It’s a vibrant, buzzing area that’s definitely worth a visit.
This place is just HUGEEEE! Lots of different departments, one for fruit, veg, others for meat, fish. cheese, deserts. All different ranges and prices depending on who you buy from. Some prices get cheaper along the way. There is a food department where you can eat lots of food again, depends where you want to eat and what you want to eat. But it is so big you’ll definitely leave with something. Clothes also. We walked here as we seen it was difficult to get parking 🅿️
There was a dumping food stall that was just … beautiful 😍 it’s hard to get a seat because in the food area lots of people are piled up.

Top notch restaurant that keeps delivering. Reliable choice for special occasions. We recently celebrated a family event and the lunch was impeccable.
We sat inside. The restaurant also has additional seating on the terrace. The service was very attentive and professional with drinks and dishes served in proper order and at the right temperature.
The food was great. Big portions, all ingredients fresh and flavourful.
The restaurant has one of the most extensive food menus in the city, with plenty to choose from. They also occasionally offer seasonal menus. Last summer we tried chanterelle dishes from chefs special selection and it was great too. This time round we stuck to classics like ox cheeks, steak, lamb, seafood and salads. All dishes were very well executed.
I must also mention the quality of drinks. A place in Riga that can deliver a decent pisco sour is a great find.

The service is very slow, initially we got the appetizers but main dosh came after one hour. Also service was not in balance some of us got appetizers and main dish at the same time, and some waited for soup for more than 50 minutes. Besides that food was very tasteful.

The Black Magic bar in old town is the most popular bar in Riga due to its menu full of items made using Riga Black Balsam. They have a full cocktail menu where Balsam is one of the ingredients in the drinks, and also have food items where Balsam is a component.
We ordered a couple of cocktails (the Black Mojito and the Fresh Black Cranberry) both of which were good. Also ordered a few chocolate truffles which I would also recommend ordering, as they were fantastic. However, if you want to buy bottles of Balsam, you’re better off buying it from a supermart (Rimi) then here because the prices are cheaper in the supermart.
Service was fine. We did not have a reservation and did a walk in, and were able to get a seat immediately. But this place can get a bit crowded, and therefore visiting during peak hours may be better with a reservation.
Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to the Black Magic Bar when you’re in Riga for trying a few cocktails.
This place looks amazing inside, and the atmosphere gets even better with the candlelight. I went in to make a short break from exploring the city and it was an experience in itself. I really enjoyed sitting and relaxing here for a bit. The only downside is that the truffles did not meet my expectations, so I would suggest skipping them altogether and just enjoying a cup of coffe.

Went there for Riga Restaurant week 2024 with my wife and we're both very positively surprised!
First of all, by the photos the portions do not look very big, but we got pretty full, so that was not an issue.
All the food was truly amazing, pumpkin basket with halva (fudge) is something out of this world! Duck breast was perfectly cooked! The dessert was a bit too sweet for both of us, but still a good one.
This place is definitely one of the Riga gems.

Bbars restaurant is located behind the Riga Cathedral in Riga Old Town. Because of its location, it seemed more private than many of the Old Town restaurants. They offer indoor or outdoor seating.
Bbars offers a superb selection of European and Latvian cuisine.
The restaurant is a favorite watering hole for locals. It offers a happy hour, a live DJ, and a fantastic sharing menu.
Latvian potato pancake appetizers are an ideal start to a delightful meal. A must-try soup is Bbars Buyabeze soup, a traditional Latvian cold pink beetroot soup. Do not let the color turn you off.
For our main courses, I had a generous portion of Baltic Sea squid, and Mary chose the juicy beef steak. Both came with traditional potato cakes and a variety of local vegetables. We were both delighted with our choices. Riga Black Balsam was our dessert, generously provided by the excellent staff at Bbars.
Pro Tip: Riga Black Balsam is a powerful Latvian liqueur. We left Bbars in a happy mood.
Great atmosphere and service, full of people on a Saturday night! DJ plays in the evenings! We decided to try 3 appetizers from the menu - salmon tartare with avocado and cucumber salsa, the portion is very good and very tasty! Vitello tonnato simple and great! But the star of the evening was fried squid, so tender, easy to chew and fabulously tasty, only 11 euros!!! I recommend visiting this place ! And Espresso Martini !👏

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, but we honestly chose it because of its location. We were conveniently staying across the street. However, it was delicious! The variety of menu options was really great and the food blew us away! I ordered the Turkish Eggs with Labneh and the french toast - I couldn't decide between savory or sweet (and I was on vacation, so why not both!). It obviously proved to be too much food, but my stomach was so happy! WOW - both dishes were so flavorful and well prepared. The service was a bit slower than I think most Americans are used to - it took a long time for the group of 6 of us to eat breakfast (maybe 1.5-2 hours), but we found that very common in Riga. Service was very friendly though! Would definitely recommend as a breakfast/brunch spot.

I had scrambled eggs served with delicious mushrooms and truffle sauce, plus extras like potato pancakes and sausages, while we also tried the traditional pancakes. Everything was tasty, and we left with happy faces. A solid spot for a decent breakfast. Recommended!!
Amazing food, I had the smashed burger pancake twist. My friends had the halloumi pancakes and the turkey reuben. It was all very tasty, good sized portions, possibly the nicest burger I've had. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The service was excellent and the waitress provided some places to visit whilst we are here on holiday. Would 100% recommend and would certainly go back to try other things on the menu

This time visiting Riga, ordering burgers took over 40 minutes. Coffee wasn't very tasty, and when I mentioned that there was something sticky under the plate to the staff, the answer was "OK".

We arrived in the last hour before closing they were very gracious and allowed us to order. Food was quick and good , the cocktails exactly what we needed. That Long Island iced tea and the p***star martini was a treat, we had to order another . My only gripe was the sugar crystals in the waffle .

I still have the first memory of coming to this cafe last year January, on a very cold winter. Everything seemed so lifeless and gray in Latvia until I found this place. The smell of croissants and coffee and very nice music that goes along with the atmosphere completely changed the mood of my day.
Not just pastries and salad are good, but also the cakes are demuring. I personally recommend the traditional cake Napoleon. I have tried in many different cafes in Latvia to compare the taste. However, none of them has won over Kūkotava yet.
The locals have known this place since long, while nowadays many tourists come as well to enjoy brunch or dessert after a meal.

I’ve always loved the sweets from this place — everything I’ve tried before has been delicious. That’s why I was so excited to visit the new branch on Antonias 11. Unfortunately, this time I was really disappointed.
The pastry I tasted was rubbery, as if it had been baked days ago, and the lemon cream had no lemon flavor or aroma at all.

During our trip, we kept coming back to this place — both to their dessert shop and their gourmet deli. The desserts are absolutely wonderful, and the deli is perfect if you’re looking for a quick but delicious lunch or light dinner. They have amazing salads with avocado, shrimp, tuna, or duck, plus tasty quiches and many other options. The coffee is excellent as well.
It’s a lovely spot to sit both indoors and outdoors when the weather is nice. We stayed nearby for three days and ended up visiting every single day — and even grabbed some snacks to take home with us.
Prices are very reasonable, and whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or just a little bite to go, this place is definitely worth a visit.
Exceptional Croissant in the City Centre — France, Step Aside
In the first paragraph, the heart is secure, free to love, and the rest is limitless peace. That’s exactly how I felt biting into this croissant — in the middle of the city, yet completely transported.
Forget Paris or Rome. This almond croissant was filled with rich, authentic almond paste — the kind you’d find in an elegant wedding cake, not the diluted stuff served across most of Europe. Baked to perfection: crisp shell, tender center, no excess butter or raw chewiness.
The coffee? Strong, rich, and full of personality. A proper roast that lingers.
Only downside? The service. When I asked for soy milk, I got a blunt “no” with no follow-up. No smile. No suggestion. For a city full of tourists, that moment lacked grace.
Still — for the pastry alone, it’s a must. Pure craftsmanship in the city centre. France, tapisols.

The chef's elegant journey through the Baltics is reflected in the 9-course seasonal menu, showcasing modern Latvian cuisine.
I had a fantastic experience at Max Cekot Kitchen. Having visited many Michelin-starred restaurants before, what stood out here was how personally and perfectly Chef Max told his story through each dish. It felt like a culinary journey rather than just a dinner.
I had the Chef’s Table reservation, so many of the courses were served by Max himself, which added a unique and intimate touch to the evening. The variety and creativity were top-notch – I’ve never had that many types of caviar in one night before. Each course was thoughtfully composed and beautifully executed.
If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the wine pairing – it was okay but didn’t quite match the level of the food for me.
All in all, I left very satisfied. It was a memorable and well-curated experience. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for something truly special in Riga.

The evening starts in the lounge, where you get served the first appetizers, then you go up the stairs to the main dining area for a fantastic meal and in the end you go down to the intermediate floor to receive the petit fours. This restaurant is for sure one of the best in Latvia, but it stands the comparison internationally. It was one of the best dinners I had in years. Don't miss it!
We were visiting Riga from the States, and this restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip.
The whole experience is so thoughtful - you begin with a drink and small bites downstairs, have dinner upstairs in the dining room, and then finish with dessert and coffee in a softly lit lounge area. It is perfectly paced from start to finish, and the ambiance of each room is perfect.
Max’s menu is a love letter to Latvia and the Baltic region, and we left feeling like we knew so much more about the country’s produce and fauna. The dishes were thoughtful, unique, and beautifully presented.
Each member of the team is expertly trained and service is personal, polished, and warm. Max himself brought us the last dessert down in the lounge and asked us our thoughts on the meal and experience.
We have eaten at a lot of Michelin starred places, but the best comparison I can make to this restaurant is Blue Hill at Stone Barns - which is a very high bar. This was one of our favorite restaurant experiences ever, and one star simply does not feel like enough.

Max Cekot Kitchen is the first restaurant in Latvia to earn a Michelin star. Once you’ve dined here, it will be very evident why that is the case. The dining experience here from start to finish is one to cherish. From the time you enter the restaurant till the time you have your petit fours, the level of service offered by the restaurant staff is exemplary. This might have been the best dining experience of mine from a service perspective in 2025.
As far as the food is concerned, you start with the amuse bouche courses on the lower floors of the restaurant. There were 4 starter courses served here, post which I was led into the main dining hall which is on a higher floor. The main dining hall is an open kitchen concept where depending on where you’re seated, you can have a full or restricted view of the chefs in action. The courses served here take complex form in terms of preparation, ingredients and presentation. Every course was a joy to consume. Some of the courses are served by the head chef himself, which adds positively to the overall experience. There was a beetroot course which was my favorite dish of the lot due to its uniqueness. After the desserts are served, you are then led again to the bottom floor for the petit fours.
For drinks, there is a wine pairing and a non-alcoholic pairing. I went with the latter and absolutely loved my decision. The range of the non-alcoholic drinks served surprised me in a positive way.
Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience and I would strongly recommend fine dining lovers to visit this restaurant if you’re in Riga.
We absolutely loved our dinner at Max Cekot. The building itself is beautiful, they've done an amazing job retaining the historical elements while transforming it into a magical space to spend an evening. The furniture, tableware and decorations are all works of art themselves and the food presentation is stunning. Some dishes were so beautiful (the beets and cherry in particular), I hesitated to eat it as I didn't want to disturb the art. But I'm glad I got over that because, wow, it was delicious. Loved the focus on local foods and traditional preparations. The non-alcoholic juice pairing was phenomenal! Such creative blending of ingredients that complemented the food well. The staff were all wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. Max and his team should be very proud to have created this restaurant. Paldies!

The restaurant's retro-style video games add to its cool ambiance.

Had a lovely meal here - the sesame seed-coated halloumi sticks on the bed of hummus were to die for. Service was pretty good, but do check your bill at the end. Mine was 25% over, but quickly rectified when pointed out.

There are a number of coffee places in Riga (most of them outside the old town) that claim to serve specialty coffee. Some of them are quite decent.
Strada however is exceptional. Judging by the coffees (did not eat anything) I have had there, they have superior water quality, a great grinder and very good beans. If you have high standards when it comes to the taste of coffee, go there: You will love it!
Strada gave a decent impression with food that was steady and reliable rather than remarkable. The service was fine, and the restaurant handled guests smoothly. It did not stand out compared to other meals in the city, though it was acceptable for a casual dinner.
The only non-chain specialty coffee shop that truly deserves all the respect! The interior is cozy and full of character, with a rare and wide variety of teas and coffees, and the terrace during warm months adds a lovely touch. It’s also amazing that they roast their own beans and do it exceptionally well.
It might not be “the” spot for someone looking for a full meal with their coffee, but they do offer some cakes and sandwiches that pair nicely. On top of the wonderful tea selection, you can even buy a teapot or a cup for drinking mate.
Speaking of their specialty offerings, their V60 is magnificent, I often order it along with chocolate cake. Sometimes I go for a cappuccino, which is always velvety, or an iced latte with a perfect balance of flavours.
Another standout aspect is the service. Baristas are always caring and thoughtful, taking drink quality seriously and investing time and effort into preparation. You can ask them about ingredients, recommendations, or even the origins of a particular drink. Special kudos to Daniels for never hesitating to share his knowledge and kind energy.
Finally, it’s a wonderful space to work in. There is no discrimination against people using laptops. Perhaps, don’t just work: make sure to try the many amazing options from their drink selection.

They are open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on Sundays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Their breakfast menu offers a variety of delicious options such as cheesecakes, croissants, sandwiches, and waffles.
I stopped for a breakfast. I had a quiche with green tea, espresso and a cherry cake. Espresso wasn't my cup of coffee, quite sauer for me, but everything else tasted delicious. The service was fine but I was suprised that I have to order at the counter. The prices reasonable, the atmoshere is fantastic.

Definitely recommend this place, especially in warm weather! They have a charming inner open courtyard that’s perfect for working or relaxing. There’s even a cable available for electricity, so you can comfortably work on your laptop if you enjoy spending time in cafes. FOOD: Great variety of flans, tarts, rolls, slices and bread rolls. They also sell uncooked gluten free pasta you can take away. They have water for free. Popular items like their cinnamon scroll sell out earlier in the day. The ingredients are of high quality and the items have plenty of filling.
SEATING: In and outdoor seating available, more suited to groups of 2-4 than 8+. There is a step up, so it's not super wheelchair/walker friendly inside.
STAFF: Really lovely, joyous and attentive staff who are passionate about what they do.

I visited your bakery yesterday (March 17, 2025) and purchased several pastries, including three pieces of canelé. However, when I got home, I realized that they were missing from my order, even though they are clearly listed on my receipt😩

Had a very disappointing experience here. Came to buy a birthday cake for my friend who is gluten free, when we got there the woman was clearly angry that we were there. She told us we couldn’t sit down on the seats outside as she was closing in 40 minutes, we asked if we could sit outside until then and she said no. She tried putting the cake in a bag and we asked if we could have it in a box as we’d brought candles and she kept telling us they don’t have many boxes. Eventually she gave us a box after explaining again it was for a friends birthday. After all that, the pastries were dry and without much flavour.
I had an absolute blast at this place during my stay in Riga. The GF buns and pastries were divine, I couldn’t resist coming back not once, but three times!
If you’re Celiac, don’t bother searching for a gluten-free bakery. Just ask your GPS to take you to this place, and you’ll be in for a treat!

Housed in a former factory southeast of the Old town, the center is undergoing development to become a vast art complex. The expansion includes a new contemporary building adjacent to the 1910 factory and a sculpture park for visitors.
Sublime little museum of modern art. Was exposed to Eastern European artists from the 70s, that were incredible! The bar and museum bookshop were equally exquisite.

The location is absolutely great, the spaces where art objects are shown are wonderful containing space & perfect light and this museum happens to be the only museum which is professionally dedicated to exclusive contemporary art in Latvia.
To visit the Zuzeum in Riga will be the best choice concerning contemporary art in any case.
I also added a couple of fotos of the Erwin Wurm exhibition. I couldn’t believe what I saw at this exhibition and art fans know that this is the first solo show exhibited outside of Wurms home country in Austria, Vienna just maybe a year ago.
It is incredible what has been achieved in this outstanding space of art in the Zuzeum Museum Riga.
Thanks again to anybody involved in this exhibition and to the staff in general for the constant effort in showing contemporary art in the most beautiful way possible.
Visit if you can! I love this place! It always has the best exhibitions. Do NOT miss the current one - "How it is" by Erwin Wurm. This one is interactive, so you can (and are encouraged to) actually touch and climb some of the exhibits. Make sure to read the signs to know which ones you can touch! Oh, and the cafe and gift shop are stunning as well. There is a rooftop terrace too.
There was a marvellous exhibition of Erwin Wurm when we visited Zuzeum which will be open until 14th of September 2025. No other art works were displayed but it was still worth to visit.

I saw the Erwin Wurm exhibition, it was fun and I loved how the artworks invited the viewer to interact with them (pro tip if you want to get drunk for the price of an entrance ticket: there's a piece which literally tells you to get drunk and offers the alcohol 🤣). The building itself was lovely, with a small sculpture park outside and a roof terrace.

Nice coffee shop with cozy decoration, the staff are kind, cool and welcoming. The coffee is tasty. They have a terrace so you sit and chill. I went for the four starts just because of the croissant, you could do better with a real French croissant, but the rest is fine.

The Food was delicious, well seasoned and presented. Even tho the place was full when we arrived we got a table in a few minutes and the food didn’t take long. We had the cottage cheese pancakes with seasonal jam and the Benedict breakfast. The only thing I’d do next time be making a reservation.
After seeing Cafe Mimosa mentioned in almost every breakfast review before my trip to Riga, Latvia, I decided it had to be my first breakfast stop. My initial impression was positive, the simple, tasteful design gave it a better than average feel. I ordered their popular poached eggs with asparagus, as well as a poached egg on gravlax over a potato pancake. Both dishes were simply amazing in terms of taste and texture.
That said, the portions were extremely small for real! We ended up ordering traditional pancakes just to avoid being hungry before starting our first long day exploring the city. I realize portion sizes in Riga are generally smaller, but it’s still worth mentioning!
On the service side, I had to wait nearly 10 minutes for the bill before finally going to the counter to pay myself, as the request had been forgotten. For everything (the dishes above plus two regular coffees), the total came to €49!
Overall, while the food was excellent, I’m not sure I’d recommend it to travelers on a tighter budget, given the portion sizes and overall value. I tried to make this review as honest as possible.
I stopped by for a last minute lunch. The interior was very pleasant and stylish, the staff were super friendly. Fantastic menu and food was served very quickly. I enjoyed every bite! Everything I ordered was delicious. I recommend oat porridge with coconut milk and cherry jam, this was the best. The alternative milk they had was Pea milk which is rare to find, well done. Highly recommend this place!
I loved the food quality and the way it was presented. Definitely worth taking pictures. The coconut porridge was good, but the portion was very small. The omelette is one of the best in town, in my opinion, but adding extra salmon and avocado makes it a bit pricey (17€+). Overall, it’s a lovely place with beautiful food and interior, but slightly overhyped.
I’ve been here twice. The interior is very stylish, and the location is convenient, close to the quiet center. Both times we came for breakfast, the place was fully packed, so it’s worth booking a table in advance to avoid waiting at the entrance.
The first time, I tried the Eggs Benedict. Nothing special, though I was expecting more because of what my friends and the internet reviews said. The second time, I went for their chicken sandwiches - and those were truly unique and delicious. Everything came together perfectly: fresh cabbage, grilled chicken, spiciness, and a hint of sourness. It was simply magical.
On the same day, I also tried my friend’s cottage cheese pancakes, and those were disappointing. They had a nice crispy crust on the outside, but the inside was slimy and runny.
There are a lot of tables for such a small place, which sometimes makes it feel less cozy. I might come back again just for the sandwiches.
Food was excellent, found this place from recommendations via TikTok, but it really wasn’t overrated!
Smaller portions however they were super delicious and flavorful, coffee was very good too.

Adorable place! I was looking for coffee on a Sunday morning and found this place and everything about it was amazing. after living in portugal im usually very skeptical of other places making pastel de natas or their spin offs but kūre certainly delivered. sure, pistachio flavor isnt original (though you can get an original pastel de nata there as well!) but it was divine. best of both worlds - pastel de nata /and/ pistachios? i found the pastry to be flaky and crispy, not greasy at all. custard was creamy but light - good pistachio flavor and also not too sweet. honestly, 10/10. 🫶🏻

This is amazing my must-visit bakery in Riga! ❤️ I always come here and try some pastries when visiting Riga. Pistachio and classic pastel de nata are delicious! The taste is delicate and the texture is so creamy. Cardamom bun here is definitely deserves your attention, it is really one of the best cardamom bun I’ve tried.

I love this coffee & breakfast shop. It has a unique and distinct atmosphere. It is located right beside Riga central train station, so there are always lots of people going somewhere, while you can sit, pause, and enjoy great coffee. Service is good. The place to go to find no nonsense wines and try new & interesting options. Food was lovely in a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Opted for a shrimp pasta dish paired with a refreshing white and a chocolate mousse with a smooth pinot noir to finish.

I stumbled upon Lowine in Riga and am so glad I did! The staff were incredibly friendly and guided me through a wine tasting to help choose the perfect wine. I tried the avocado and salmon on sourdough was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The ambience was lovely, and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Riga.
While traveling through the Baltic Countries we started to notice behaviour and approach of service staff towards clients. In a book called “de Nomade” by Anja Niewierra we read of the homo sovieticus, lion set free but so condtioned by living in cages that trapped outside in a mental cage. The same we feel with service. The approach is so strange. No greetings, no welcoming words, just ignoring the client and even avoid eye contact. Conversation is kept to bare minimum. It will take generations to lose this no service approach. Let’s hope it will come, this kind of good food needs better and friendlier interaction by staff. Nestled in a cozy and modern space, The Ned is a charming cafe that offers an intimate setting to enjoy specialty coffee and bean-to-bar chocolate. The service was good, and I appreciated that they offer single-origin chocolate. However, I was a bit disappointed that they only had milk chocolate and no dark chocolate options. The coffee was delicious—I had an Americano, but it was prepared like filtered coffee, so I'm unsure why they labeled it as Americano, as filter coffee would have been a better fit. One downside is that the place is quite small, and since it was empty, I felt a bit uncomfortable staying, so I opted for takeaway.

This café is really overrated. Ordered two americanos, got them in paper mugs without even being asked if it's takeaway or not. Coffee was just ok, definitely not worth a slightly higher price than some other average place.
All that would be perfectly normal. But the clearly unpleasant or even angry attitude of the person working at the café made the whole short visit just ridiculous. Why open a café if you don't like having customers? Just change the name to The End and close this place down.
