Really lovely restaurant, perhaps the best food on the island, definitely the best fresh fish! The owner and her son really make you feel like you’re at home! Efcharistó!!

Lunch at Scandeia was amazingly Delicious. It felt like we were driving up to Grandma’s house. We parked under the trees and made our way to the steps on the far right side. Order the Baked Lamb! It was so tender it fell of the bone and the Split Peas and Mousaka were also delicious.

Great local restaurant with delicious food. We going it by pure coincidence, because we just saw a full on alive cow in front of it, which was fun. We got slowly baked goat and lamb with some potatoes, local wine and ouzo, and zucchini croquet as starter. Everything was quite delicious, I myself am not a goat fan, but the meat was like butter, soft and juicy, falling apart. Delicious. Only thing that made us slightly sad was there was obviously second menu, or some home specials we were not told about, as we saw locals having plates we didn't see on menu.

I visited this place three years ago and had a good experience back then. However, this time it was a big disappointment. We ordered trahana with eggplant, biftek with fries, and steak. Unfortunately the meat didn’t have any seasoning . The trahana dish was drowned in tomato sauce. The fried calamari was tough and hard to chew. At the end, we ordered yogurt with honey and walnuts, which was ridiculous!!!! What we got was just 1 Tablespoon of yogurt with a bit of honey and a crumbled biscuit — not even close to what it used to be 3 years before. I still enjoy the environment and the surrounding nature.

Eve (and her husband) are lovely hosts!!!! We felt like family at this beautiful taverna. Eve explained the Minoan history of the area and where a nearby tomb was. Lovely cat here too❤️ Our meal was fantastic. Might be the best grilled vegetables I’ve ever had!!! And Eve’s salt is from the salt pond down the road at the sea’s salt pond! FANTASTIC!!

Nice tavern and a warm place to eat! The food is good though the octopus was chewy and not properly roasted. They have the best French potatoes that I have eaten for a long time!

By far the best and most special gastronomic experience that kythera has to offer. Kudos to the team for their quality and professionalism. All the dishes are authentic and well cooked, based on traditional recipes but with modern touch. They refresh the menu daily with new dishes of the day. Also the only place in the island where you can find good home made bread and strong wine list. It definately needs a reservation. As per price it is veray fair compared to quality and portions. I recommend to take several dishes to share to be able to taste their cuisine overall.

Everything we had was of great quality and flavor. Got the zucchini salad, the stuffed onions, the fava and a dish of the day with lamb. Super tasty with more than sufficient portions. Such a great experience - this place should be ranked higher.

Excellent restaurant! We went twice in a week and really enjoyed it. Greek recipes but two steps ahead of what we know from the traditional versions! I fully recommend the kremidodolmades (stuffed onion leaves). Delicious!

Such a beautiful restaurant with revisited Greek food under the unsurpassed culinary art of Yannis who is the owner and chef. The location is totally cinematographic and the building is magnificently renovated. We stayed for 7 days in Kyrhira and we had dinner at Familia 3 times! A great wine list and excellent service. Don’t miss the xorta tsigariasta and the stuffed onions! Thank you Yannis!

Very beautiful place with remarkable setting. The food is not that great while also the service could be better since the restaurant is pretty big. However, they have a really good wine list and the linguine with the fish bolognese was excellent!!

Almost Micheline star quality food. Unexpected diamond in a hidden traditional village. Greek dishes with a contemporary twist. Exemplary explanations, service and immaculate presentation. A unique geranium liqueur. Other restaurants on the island are what you would call, traditional, regional home-style cooking, but this was something up-market, different and SPECIAL!

I definitely recommend this restaurant, despite one dish being a miss. We visited for lunch and we had one salad and a main each. The salad was really nice and refreshing. Our mains where: - Tuna steaks in sauce with puree, which was amazing - "Orzotto" with lemon, shrimp, mussels and cured pork which was the highlight of the meal, a true 10/10 - Cuttlefish risotto with its ink, which was solid and tasty - Goat with pasta which was extremely tasty but quite heavy - Tuna burger (dish of the day), which was a miss, not really tasting of tuna, and the burger didn't really hold its shape, making this a messy process. We would visit again :)

From the start, the welcome was warm and authentic — you truly appreciate the taste of real Greek olive oil when you live abroad. We chose seafood dishes and paired them with a Malagouzia from Alpha Estate, which matched beautifully. The almyra with grilled prawns was a wonderful start, followed by mussels frikase, shrimp pasta, and the lemony kritharoto (orzo) paella. Every dish was amazing: delicately cooked, full of flavor, and well-balanced. The atmosphere is pleasant, set along a small village alley with some house views and the sea just beside. It’s charming and authentic, though not extraordinary compared to the food and service. Overall, highly recommended for a refined dining experience in Avlemonas.

We visited Psomoladea and overall had a very good culinary experience. The dishes were excellent, with a creative gourmet twist that worked really well. Some of the highlights we tried were the mussels in avgolemono sauce, a delicious seafood pasta, and a very impressive grilled squid with legume salad and ceviche. On the other hand, the tuna burger (dish of the day) was rather disappointing and lacked flavor. On the downside, the service felt a bit arrogant, the heat under the pergola was unbearable without any fans, and we were not allowed to make a phone reservation because our group was considered too large. A restaurant with great food, but there’s definitely room for improvement in the service and comfort.

Went there at sunset and it is magical. We got 4 dishes and they were nice, but would have been much better if they didn’t put so much vinaigrette on them. She as the flavours are amazing and we ended up trying to take off the vinaigrette. But maybe that’s just us. Overall, highly recommended.

The food was absolutely exquisite - one of the best restaurants in Greece. The quality and experience is at the level of Feedel in Athens. Dish after dish just blew our mind. From the baby spinach salad to the Cretan apaki pasta. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. For two people, a salad and fish tartar starter, two pasta main courses, dessert to share and 0.75l house white wine: 73€ But it was worth every cent. I will definitely go back.

One of the best restaurants in the island. Simple atmosphere, food is the main attraction, Greek creative cuisine with excellent presentation. Menu changes often and it’s always fresh and local ingredients. Just try it and enjoy!

If you want pampering, look elsewhere. Here, you get three things, red mallet, prawns, and Greek salad all perfect. Their quality remains unchanged for decades. Location is perfect for a seaside stroll afterwards, and prices very reasonable. An absolute must on every visit to Athens.

This was my favorite meal in all of Athens , pure delight . Simple yet of the highest quality, with prawns, red mullet, and Greek salad prepared to perfection. Nothing beats this authentic experience.

Best Red Mullet I’ve ever had!! It was so amazing I keep thinking about it, can’t wait to visit it again. Must try seafood if you love red mullet, shrimp and frying! Only thing is I wish the greek salad had more cucumber. Overall it’s great!

This is a truly local gem that comes alive at night. They keep it simple with three dishes that pair perfectly with a cold Greek beer. The shrimp was buttery and flavorful, and the mullet was flaky and delicious. While the Greek salad wasn’t the best we've had, enjoying the shrimp and mullet while sitting outside with a refreshing sea breeze made us forget this downside. It gets even cozier with the lively groups and interesting people filling the place. It’s a real community vibe, even some dogs and cats—joining in on the meal.

Love this neighborhood gem. Big shout out for the chef. He knows exactly how to cook fish. I think there's no menu. Whatever fresh seafood is in the kitchen that day is served. The red mullet was definitely my favorite but the shrimp was also gorgeous. All the vegetables in the Greek salad were very tasty, the feta cheese was of good quality (I can't believe I praised the salad :) The sweet treat at the end of the dinner is a big plus. Will definitely be returning!

One cannot go wrong with simplicity combined with perfection! This small tavern in a quiet neighbourhood of Pireus offers the same menu for decades. Shrimps, red mullet and Greek salad. The salad is fresh and tasty -I don't know where they buy their tomatoes from, it is a secret- and the fish and shrimps are crispy, fried to perfection.

My experience with my friends was overall very unsatisfactory. As soon as we arrived at the dinning area we asked if we could sit on a table right next to balcony but we were said it was reserved. No signage was placed and until we left no one sat there and no one suggested we could change spots for the better view. I asked the silverware to be replaced and I had to ask for it again after the food was on the table. The fries were frozen, the calamari was small, hard and tasteless and lastly the shrimp pasta was very under par, with only four shrimps that were mostly shell not flavourful at all and felt like they were low quality. The only kind of nice dish was the salad. The view was also very nice. We do not recommend!

Location was nice, with a beautiful view of the sea. The food was unfortunately quite bad. There were 5 people at the table and everyone was unsatisfied, frozen fries, steak completely overdone and almost unable to be eaten despite clearly asking for it to be rare, Greek salad was okay, Horta was mediocre and quite small.

Maybe the best restaurant (not taverna) I ever had in Greece. And I'm going to Greece for 16 years now. Great taste, great plating, kind service. And friendly prices as well.

This is a great place to dine, in a lovely beach setting, as per the view last night. After many visits in 2023, the food is of a consistently high quality and delicious in summer 2023. Kaleris is serving the best fava (yellow split pea puree) on the island. I keep forgetting to take a photo as we dive in. The traditional salad/παραδοσιακή is a firm favourite, with grilled manouri cheese, also the little spinach pies, the saganaki, with or without sausages, and if the chef's mother's courgette pie is on the menu as one of the daily extras, don't miss it. A good place for vegetarians! I'm not reviewing meat or fish as I don't eat them, but they look great. Portions are generous. You definitely need to book in high summer and service can be a little slow because food is prepared to order and the quality is well controlled, but it's worth it. The front of house team is welcoming, hard-working and efficient. Kaleris could add a few nice bottles of wine, to complement their delicious food, now that there's a business importing a range of great Greek wines on the island.

I am greek and here the food is very tasty from the typical greek salad, to the famous steak of the restaurant, octapus and fresh fish! People are very kind! Totally worth visiting!

A fantastic restaurant for FRESH fish at very reasonable prices, i had fresh grilled red mullet, amazing, sardina on bread with tomato, the waiter was very helpful and reccomended a half portion, which was very kind, also boiled mussels with cheese and spicy pepper, all amazing and deeeelicious, defo reccomend as it is away from the touristy traps and very local

Yperokeanio: Straightforward Seafood, Done Right Yperokeanio keeps things simple and that’s exactly why it works. The shrimp pasta is rich and well-balanced, the grilled squid is fresh and perfectly cooked, and the cheese pie is crisp and satisfying. Service is quick, with hardly any wait time, and the atmosphere is laid-back and unpretentious. Prices are fair, and everything tastes fresh. If you’re after honest, well-made seafood without the fuss, Yperokeanio delivers.

Overall, it was very good and enjoyable. The sardines in bread with tomatoes was 10/10. Green was excellent as well, as well as kalamari and fava. Less favourite and quite salty was the rice with soupia ink. Also, a bit overpriced

I wanted to go there for sometime and i never had the chance. Today i went to “Piraiki” and likely because it was Sunday we found a table. The food is honestly excellent and very tasty. The portions are big and the prices are normal and in simw cases low comparing to other similar places in the area. I totally recommend it and i will definitely go back again to taste some other plates. Its a hidden gem dont miss it.

Lovely restaurant with very polite staff and nice patio. Pizzas were tasting great and the whole family had a very nice time and meal. Highly recommended.

Everything was great. The waiter Fabio was very friendly, made also possible to have a specific football match to be shown on TV. Great location to enjoy a meal.

Beautiful experience with amazing fish freshly chosen at the counter and weighed. A little pricey depending on the fish but an amazing experience with a panoramic view over the port, mountains and sea!

Five star food, service, views and wine. So lucky to have found this local hidden gem in Athens marina. It’s a bit of a trek up if you walk up from the harbour but easy taxi ride. The fish was fresh and so well priced. The views are incredible. A must visit.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Parorama and highly recommend it. This traditional Greek restaurant, which has been run by four generations of the same family, is perched on a hilltop with a stunning panoramic view of the marina. Taking a taxi there is advisable. We arrived at around 4 p.m., when the restaurant was still quiet, and finished at around 6 p.m. as other guests began to arrive. We enjoyed crab meat with avocado, shrimps in a mustard and pickled cranberry sauce, fried calamari, grilled grouper, and Greek salads. Every dish was flavourful and beautifully prepared. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive, adding to the warmth and charm of the entire experience.

Feels like home... hidden gem... fish is extremely fresh and very well cooked...i took mussels, marinated anchovies, greek salad and skonbri fish... unlike the rest of greek tavernas they don't offer sweets after food which is the only bad thing... the view is to fall in love with... i highly recommend.

Discover Afghan flavors in Exarchia at Folia Restaurant Folia, nestled in the heart of Exarchia, offers a pleasant taste of Afghan cuisine with a laid-back, coffee shop-like atmosphere. The food impressed us, capturing authentic flavors while being reasonably priced. The service was decent, though nothing extraordinary. The ambiance reflects the alternative, bohemian vibes of the area, but don’t expect anything too upscale. If you’re in Exarchia and craving something unique, Folia is worth a visit for its solid Afghan dishes.

Great selection of traditional Afghan dishes, good service and food wasn’t hot enough but I believe that was because we were eating outside on a very cold day in November, Ashak dish was very nicely done, Montou was lacking slightly on the flavour side and Kabuli Palau was excellent. I do think the restaurant could do with a selection of more drinks e.g. fresh fruit juice to live up to the general standards in the Greek culture. Did not have the Afghan chai, many Afghans restaurants serves a green/cardamom tea usually after meal which this restaurant did not have to offer.

Great place to try Afghan food in Athens! The Kabuli Pulao (lamb with rice) was fantastic but the Bolani (fried pita stuffed with potato) was my favorite!

I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant in Exarchia (Athens) serving food from Afghanistan. 😊 I really liked the outdoor seating area of the restaurant ... and some of the dishes I tasted were delicious. 😋 However, for somebody having enjoyed outstanding Afghanee home cooking (for a few years) I have to admit the rice dish with the lamb was disappointing! 🤔 The service is prompt and courteous and the prices very reasonable .... & .... it's a nice place to enjoy a meal with friends after a long walkabout in the Exarchia neighbourhood .... that is always a good idea! 👍😍👍😊👍

Excellent food. We got multiple plates to share and the serving sizes were enormous. The grilled vegetables with feta and the stew with lentils are must haves!

Food was OK. Service wasn't great. The waiter was not particularly friendly or helpful. He sat smoking on the table next to us, with the smoke wafting over in our direction!

Went for the rooftop view. Ordered the tikka masala pita and it was a big portion so lasted me two meals which was good but I felt the flavor wasn’t that strong or spicy, so that was disappointing. Went on a weeknight and a bit before sunset so there was no wait but there are only a few rooftop tables so go early if you want to see sunset.

Very disappointing experience. The restaurant markets itself as Indian, but the food was far from authentic. The dishes we ordered were overly spicy without balance, and some items were even undercooked, which made them inedible. On top of that, the service was poor — slow, inattentive, and unhelpful when we mentioned the issues with the food, they even asked us to clear the bill even before serving us food. Athens has many wonderful restaurants, but unfortunately, this one is not worth recommending.

If you can just ignore the fact that every summer prices go 40%-50% up due to tourism, it is a great place with delicious food. You just have to wait for the prices to go down again, from November and onward.

Incredible how this place in a short 6moth period doubled the prices and downgraded the food quality. I used to come to this establishment at least once a week and literally brought anyone I knew , the food used to be affordable and authentic, it is no longer any of those . I definitely wont visit this restaurant again , and will tell all my friends about this. This place no longer serves free water The stuff barely knows what they are serving. Spices are now absent from the food , and it lacks authenticity. What a shame .

Mirch is a good Indian fast food in the center of Athens, the food is fresh and really good cooked. The staff helpful and really kind. Have been there 3 times and will definitely visit it again. Recommended!

A great spot for a Vegetarian dinner in the heart of Athens. The Dall Channa with some chilli naan was very filling and full of great Indian Spice. 9 Euros total. Not even a 5 minute walk from Monistiraki Square and a great roof top patio with a gorgeous view of the lit up Acropolis. A very chill vibe with an excellent dinner.

Sadly, I was not happy with the quality of the food for the price. Food took very little time to come out. Tikka was dry, and there was no chutney. Not a very south Asian experience—more red dyed Greek chicken doner wrapped in pita. No real naan. Paid too much for what we got.

I liked the cultural experience. I read different things about the staff but we had an amazing experience. They were nice and appreciative . It’s only the owner/chef and the helper. You go downstairs, they give you a table, and you wait. They give you food , whatever they make that day. No menus, no options, none of that. Just like a homemade place in which grandpa cooks and you eat what you get. It felt culturally amazing. Simple, and nice. The price is set (15euros a person) including wine and all the food. This was one of the best dining experiences we had in Athens. There is a set menu and it’s delicious! Best garbanzo soup I’ve ever had! Everything was so good! The atmosphere feels authentic in a basement with large wine barrels and only a few tables. The chef is an old man cooking in the corner on a tiny stove and grill. Very reasonably priced, especially for the quality and touristy location. Highly recommend!

Was trying for years to visit the place but because we were a large group it was not possible until today. The wait definitely paid off. It's a place run by an 80 year old owner since he was 13!!! The place hosted famous people and not so famous for years. It's a hidden jewel in a nobble basement. The choices are limited but every plate is full of taste and tradition. Tables are limited and if you are lucky enough to find one seize the chance.

A tasty chickpea stew with bread and a glass of wine for €9. No compliants there. I suspect this place is not for most visitors or even locals. The rustic feel is certainly interesting, but it is not a restaurant in the normal sense of the word. no menu, 1 serving of stew is not enough for a lunch, etc etc. Having said that, I don't mind going there again to try whatever the old guy cooks on that day, and I'll then head to the central market nearby to have some seafood ...

Diporto was a unique and memorable stop during my time in Athens. Hidden underground in a graffiti-covered neighborhood, it feels like stepping into an old, authentic Athenian kitchen — no menus, no fancy presentation, just a true local experience. The place has a warm, homey vibe, and the simplicity of it all makes it stand out. They don’t offer many options, but that’s part of the charm — you get what’s cooking that day, and it’s all fresh and traditional. It was actually refreshing to take a break from the usual gyros and heavy, oily dishes you find everywhere else. The food was simple but good, with that homemade taste you can’t fake. It’s a bit on the pricey side considering how modest the setup is, but the experience and atmosphere make it worth a visit. Definitely a spot for those who appreciate authenticity and old-school dining.

I’ve had this placed pinned to go for years and finally made it! I love how discreet it is, the cozy and family run feel. No menu, just what the sweetest papou has cooked up for the day and it was DELICIOUSLY rustic, home style cooking for the soul served along with their own wine.

It is a restaurant that is mostly preferred by local people. We were very satisfied with what we ate. Especially we loved the fried squids. The only problem was service. In general, the waiters are not immediately interested in you. He see you when you sit but they don't take orders. When you raise your hand to place an order, it gives you an okey sign, but it continued to take care of its phone or talking and laughing with other waiters. This is how they treat not only to us, but also to those who come in general. This is an important problem, if it weren't for this, it's a 5 stars place.

Its a hidden place visited by locals mostly. We had only two beers and a small plate of snack. The place vibe was the best, tables at the two side of walking street. Nothing special its a community place, but its ok in its category.

This is a fabulous local bar/ restaurant in a great setting. The atmosphere was jolly, the staff work really hard and are quick and attentive. You can’t make reservations but we were lucky in getting a table as a large queue formed shortly after we arrived and was there for the whole evening showing just how popular it is. I’d recommend arriving before 20:00 to be in with a chance of being seated quickly. We shared some small plates for dinner with drinks and it was like eating at a friend’s place. The food was tasty, excellent value and 5 years after the first time of visiting, I wouldn’t hesitate in going back again.

Stumbled across this place on our way up to Lycabettus Hill for sunset. We had the best Aperol Spritzes and some really yummy tapas. Was well priced and the service was impeccable. Loved the street seating.

Very good food, service and prices. We shared a Cretan Dakota (similar to bruschete), beetroot salad, veal patties and desert. They also have greek draught beer like Alfa and Mamos. Great food experience in Athens! I love the concept of food sharing and Dexameni menu is perfect for that. You can feel the quality of ingredients, each dish was very refreshing and you can feel the greek cuisine vibe. We ordered cretan dakos, fava, pita, grilled halloumi and semolina halva (I think better would be with ice cream). Tables only outside. I’d love to come back here some day

We arrived at a place that received a lot of recommendations. But in fact, the value for money was very low and not worth the price. The meal arrived an hour and a half late. The attitude of the waitresses and the owner, was impatient. The service was poor. Highly not recommended!

I found a cockroach in our fried zucchini. We order some homemade Dolmadakia But they were from the can. Part of the order was pork, souvlaki, uncooked. Definitely a bad experience I will never ever order or referral this restaurant to anyone. I’m attaching some photos.

Food feels home-cooked, prices are okay, will treat you with something sweet when you pay the bill. Children can safely play around if you sit outside. Also nice for a good chat or a casual work-related lunch. Busy on Sundays and sunny weekends. Try the grilled calamari (squid) or kidney with rice, oven-baked cannelloni (pasta with tomato sauce), or a steak with home fries.

One of this off the beaten track places with chill vibes. I was only drinking beer there so I am not able to tell anything about food. Beer like beer - local one was good and within a fair price. Interior is small and "ugly" in an appealing way. It is one of this places where the climate is done by the people who gather there than by the design itself.

Went there during a flash torrential downpour, the bathroom flooded cause of the excessive rain (not the toilet itself) and yet an amazing time. The staff was quick to address the issue and still maintain great service. They were polite and handled a stressful situation well. Drinks had a nice heavy pour to them too.

Amazing pizza, amazing view and super polite stuff!! We got there 17.50 when it was closed but we were told by the employees that people begin to gather by 18.00 so we wait, 18.30 we were sited and by 19.00 we had already eaten the delicious pizzas we ordered. If you go this early most tables are sunny so be prepared. Definitely worth that wait, menu is very unique, a must try!!

The place is always packed, for 2 people it’s easier to be sited due to the bar - the tables are limited. The view is amazing and the staff polite and helpful. We ordered the pepperoni and the prosciutto pizzas, the Caesars salad and the tiramisu for dessert. The portions are to the smaller side in comparison with the prices that are quite high. The food was very tasty and definitely recommend the tiramisu.

Without a single doubt one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tried (definitely comparable to any Roman or Neapolitan pizza). Ok the scenery and the amazing service definitely play a big part in this but the pizza dough and the toppings as well were top notch. The view is breathtaking and makes you want to sit for hours (although you shouldn’t as the place is small and the queue is always big!) Kudos to the whole team but especially Thanasis who is one of the friendliest waiters I’ve ever came across.

A beautiful restaurant with fine taste pizzas, modern look and the best of views. A terrace in Kithira to spend the end of the day with stunning views of the castle, the Aegean Sea and of course Hytra island during sunset. Pizzas and wine were delightful, service very friendly, prices reasonable. Arrive early or you might have to wait. We had a great time and will surely come back.

We've spent almost every day in this beach bar last week, so I feel I have a good idea about the menu and services. First of all, the place is absolutely amazing - beautiful view, very comfortable chairs and couches, ideal for working from bar. Nobody kicks you out, even if you stay for couple of hours, we kept ordering small stuff, so we didn't stay for free. WiFi is really good here too, not noisy. Food is little average though. Had signature salad, tuna salad, burgers and waffles and - well, there are better places for meal just next door. Coctails though are quite good, although I'd still give them 4/5. Oh yes, and you get water for free, which I really appreciate!!! Service is very slow and sometimes strangely cold. All in all, good base for working. But I'd rather switch to eat elsewhere.

The waiter was the one preparing the dishes with no hygiene protocols what so ever and (during covid 19 crisis) no intention of wearing a mask. He prepared everything and served without a mask and when I told him to put one on, he put it on his chin without covering the mouth or nose. I have no idea how the dishes taste because of the disgusting atmosphere (he even wiped his sweat on his sleeve while holding our plates). Just paid and left the place without taking a single bite.
