Ramore Restaurants in Portrush is a collection of vibrant waterfront bars and bistros, including Basalt, The Mermaid, Neptune & Prawn, Coast, The Wine Bar and the Harbour Bar and Bistro. Basalt offers casual dining with Spanish influences and a scenic outdoor terrace overlooking the harbor. Neptune & Prawn serves Asian-inspired cuisine right on Portrush Harbour. The restaurant has evolved from fine dining to a relaxed cosmopolitan menu over the years.
Stopped off at the Ramore Horsebox for Hot Chocolates and Treats.. And honesty, it was thee best Hot Chocolate i have ever had... First and foremost, it was a HOT Chocolate and one of these "just warm chocolate" And it tasted like it was just purely Melted Chocolate it was that good, it was so sweet, delicious and perfect for warming you up on a cool and windy day!

Enjoyed a family meal here a few days ago. Much bigger in the inside than you would anticipate at the entrance. Portrush was quiet the day we visited, the restaurant was very busy quite early, so we presume it is known by the locals. We came on recommendation and would recommend ourselves.
Steve R — Google review
Sunday Jazz club. A first for the Ramore complex and for us. What a fantastic idea. The first one was on a beautiful sunny day so the views were spectacular from Basalt. The food and the ambience on arrival were perfect. The only thing that spoiled it sadly was the live music. It was not jazz but jazzed up pop songs from Leonard Cohen to Kylie Minogue and Elbow to 70’s smalsh. And it was too loud. Sorry but the intermission was relief as the Jazz came back on. Save yourselves some money. We’d have been happy with the “piped” jazz at the beginning and the end. Overall a good experience though and we would come back for the food and hopefully Jazz! We are regulars anyway at the complex.

We went for lunch food was really good the only issue was they ran out of their £5 buffalo chicken burger which I was really looking forward to. We had beef burger with bacon and cheese which was really tasty and filling. We also had the salt and chilli goujons which were nice and spicy. The kids got kids meals which were really good value for money. We had sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie cheesecake which were both divine. The kids got chocolate brownie which was massive and well liked. Overall a very good meal and dining experience.

Disappointing meal at the Ramore wine bar. We’ve eaten here for quite a few years and tonight sadly maybe the last time. Chicken was suspiciously red / cold. My wife had two hairs in her meal, both dark black & the same colour as the waiter who was sporting an untidy beard… no wonder they don’t have 5 star health rating! 2 stars given as prices reduced (to what they should be I may add)
Alex S — Google review
Visited with my family for a meal whilst visiting Portrush. The kids all had chicken goujons and chips, which they enjoyed. Both the wife and I had fish and chips, which was lovely and a good amount. It was early evening and the atmosphere was very family friendly and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return to try one of the other restaurants in the building
Jimmy O — Google review
Great place for a quick bite or for a more substantial meal. Plenty of choice on the menu at competitive prices. The only downside is that the tables are grouped so close together that even the waiters struggle to get the food to your table.
Lynsey J — Google review
This place is good for a steak, and mains is very good, the sides are little disappointing, I got a cesar salad, it was not a dressing they put on it but so much mayonnaise, you were just eating mayo, and it looked like we got the end of the bag of chips. The deserts looked not appetising, but that could have been because it was late at night, we did not take any, the staff very helpful and very friendly.

The Tides Restaurant is a two-story dining spot that offers a relaxed atmosphere and stunning sea views of the West Strand and Portrush. It's recommended to visit during late lunch in winter to catch the beautiful sunset, while other seasons offer different sunset views. The restaurant is known for its fantastic international dishes and efficient, friendly staff who provide excellent value for money. Guests praise the menu variety, with personal favorites like the Roast Duck with Pak Choi.
We had our first visit to Tides this evening and were really impressed. Lovely friendly welcome and a fantastic choice on the menu. We were initially seated in a busier part of the restaurant with people walking past and asked to be moved. It wasn't a problem, we were moved to a quieter, very comfortable table. I had honey chilli chicken with noodles and my husband had the curry. The food came out fairly quickly and there were huge portions on our plates. The food was piping hot and delicious. We ate every bite and thoroughly enjoyed it. We shared a sticky toffee pudding for dessert and again, a decent size, decorated with fruit, honeycomb and ice cream. Absolutely lovely meal and very reasonable prices. The only slight criticism I would have is that there are no allergen codes on the menu. I have fish/shellfish allergies and had to ask a few times. The server checked my choice with the kitchen and all was ok but the allergen codes would have been helpful. Really great experience at Tides. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful restaurant! Walked in with 22 people, no reservation, and they had us sat within 10 minutes. The food was delicious! We celebrated an engagement, so they got us champagne and set us up on the rooftop after dinner to celebrate. Fantastic service and food/drinks. Will come again!
Mackenzie C — Google review
Ordered surf and turf at price of £30. Asked for well done. The tiny steak came cremated with 3 pathetic deep fried battered prawns and sad looking broccoli. The worst surf and turf I’ve seen in my life. Sent it back and refuse to pay. Not even a side dish included in the price. Very disappointing.
A-Zone T — Google review
Went for dinner last night for the first time. Food was lovely, good service from staff and a gorgeous view from the table! Only downsides were the portion size of the duck taco starter. It was quite large so meant I didn’t eat much of my main course. The flavour was delicious but easily could have that starter as a main course but the fish was cooked perfectly. Sides don’t come with the mains, so you have to pay for them. My boyfriend had the chilli beef wrap and was a bit disappointed as it was slightly dry inside with no sauce or vegetables inside it to add flavour and moisture! Overall, I would eat here again now that I know the portion sizes and would be tempted to try other dishes.
Amy L — Google review
Disappointing restaurant, we had high hopes after looking at the comments and photos but the quality of the food was poor. The salmon was overcooked. The duck noddles had little flavour -the duck was boiled..-. The side vegetables were dry and when we asked for some oil they said they only had rapeseed oil in the kitchen. Overall, not the best place in the area…
Pau F — Google review
The atmosphere of the restaurant and its location make is special!! After a delicious dinner, we took our drinks to the balcony to watch the sun set!
Cynthia B — Google review
Waitress put our table of 4 with 2 people's backs to the Seaview when lots of seats available (we moved in the end but only after asking) mashed potato was rough weird taste and texture, grease/fat 25% of the steak unedible parts, onion rings a joke + soggy boring tomato and don't get us started on the cold McDonald's style fries (where's the chips!!!) Our order arrived 15 mins after a family who came 30 mins after us! Would we go again definitely not. Better places to go, only go here if you're not paying and you're starving and even then advised not to. Can see if you look at negative reviews management/owner doesn't reply, they likely go for traffic from tourists as locals would be mad to eat here or return a 2nd time if had an experience like us + 100 of others.
M D — Google review
Beautiful views, easy to book, reasonably priced, most of the food really nice. Cocktails we tried were delicious. All of the staff were so friendly, professional & attentive. Really lovely atmosphere. The chicken curry and goujons were OK. The prawn crackers were a bit tough and the goujons would be great if were available in fresh coating or batter. 2 of our party loved the chicken maryland. Would definitely try again. We were seated upstairs (5*) but unsure if lift for wheelchair access. The restaurant, staff and chefs are a credit to the owner... who may have been there. Everyone was lovely 😊

Fantastic Guiness and Whiskey. I had the burger and dirty fries (Spicy) for dinner delicious Nice to see the New Zealand stuff so far from home

Great spot for some food and drinks. The place is a lot larger than you think. Food portions were perfect. We definitely enjoyed this spot.

Pizza, burgers, dirty fries and hot wings.....spot on! Pizza was very good with a lovely thin base and hot wings were exactly what you would expect. I will definitely go again. I would try to find somewhere more quiet to sit next time, that's not a criticism, it's just what I prefer.

A good spot in the port. Upstairs hosts great comedy nights, if you can get tickets. Nice friendly bar. Shame the guiness isn't better but you can't have everything. Now they have pool tables and darts so caters to more people.
Rodney M — Google review
A solid 5 star! Their pizza was the best I’ve ever had, the flavor and the amount of cheese was spot on! The only thing I didn’t like was the drink, pretty expensive for a tiny glass of coke.
Probox P — Google review
Hidden wee gem of a place the drink is very cheap and the food is delicious
Paul H — Google review
With the bold claim of having the best bar food in portrush, we were feeling optimistic. However, the food was rubbish. The chicken goujons were dripping in oil, the salt and chilli chips had enough salt to cause a heart attack (see picture) and the “salad” as stated on the menu consisted of a singular piece of limp lettuce. Do not waste your time.

Was hungry and it was 8pm on an April evening and I was recommended this place and I was not disappointed. Staff really was excellent, friendly and chatty and the food was excellent. Great atmosphere in the bar too

We didn’t pre-book but we were early enough on a Friday night to get a table. I ordered the Pulled beef and pasta with a garlic creamy sauce which was excellent as was my wife’s Slow cooked Irish beef and mash. The Guinness was great too. I’d thoroughly recommend coming here if you’re in the Portrush area. The staff were great too.
Chris M — Google review
Came on bank holiday Sunday afternoon with no reservation, we got a table but had to wait for about 30 minutes to order food and it was totally worth it! We had the Guinness brisket burger and it was one of the best burgers we had in a long time, and also the pork Sunday roast which it was very tasty. Both plates very fresh and huge portions. All staff very friendly and attentive!

First time in the Quays for a bite to eat, seen on Facebook they were having a £10 lunch menu so travelled down to try! We had a lovely waitress! really nicely mannered and nothing was a problem with her ! We had two meals two desserts and a cuppa tea and coffee all for a total of £20! Food was outstanding, braided beef onion and mushroom with garlic mash and Guinness gravy was delicious and so well cooked with loads of flavour! We also ordered quays fried chicken, 3 big goujons, chargrilled corn, pickled slaw fries and chicken gravy was delicious! We ordered one jam and coconut sponge which came with custard and one sticky toffee pudding with lashings of toffee sauce and ice cream was all an unreal taste!!! We will defo be back what a great deal!

Best modern pub in Portrush for my money, love the Braised Beef & Potato. Great staff, music and vibe. The ibeer garden has video poker! Paradise. 👏 Edit: poker is fair, true RNG.
Chris P — Google review
What to say?! Well it certainly is hearty pub grub, no real complaints there. The food was nice enough, though I would have to say that my mariners pie, basically was the same as the seafood chowder, just with the puff pastry top! Luckily my fiancée had the chowder as her starter and not me. The pubs itself is nice. The covered garden area is lively and surprisingly, the noise didn’t travel into the dining area, though next door, so that’s a plus!

Went here for dinner and it was amazing, had the chicken carbonara and my partner had the burger and was lovely, couldn’t fault it. Definitely recommend. Staff were also super friendly.

On a recent driving holiday around Ireland we stayed in Portrush & the landlady of the B&B we stayed in advised us to go this delightful pub for an evening meal - she couldn't have advised of anywhere better! For starters we shared the Crispy Irish Potato Bread Fries - simply delicious bites of roughed up but soft centered chips - for our mains my husband had Pan Fried Salmon Fillet, the salmon was really large, nicely cooked & the sides were plenty, I had the 12 Hour Irish Braised Beef & Champ - so much beef it was unbelievable - the beef melted in the mouth & the flavour was divine! The hosts were very friendly & helped us with cashback for a taxi because no ATMs were working in the area

Really impressed - we were in a hurry and the waitress communicated it with the chiefs and served us in 10min. Love the vege as well, sooooo yum! The burger was so juicy and tasty - super chuffed - highly recommend!

Went here on a Monday night was pretty busy but we got seated right away with no reservation. Staff very attentive and food came in good time. Tasty food and reasonably priced. The place had good vibes and decorated nicely. Thanks!
Han N — Google review
I don't know if they were just having an off evening or were very busy, but the whole experience felt very rushed. We ordered starters and main and it felt like they couldn't get rid of us quicker. Multiple checks from staff during our meals, almost felt invasive. Plates almost lifted the second we put forks on the plate. Didn't even feel like ordering a dessert if we were going to be rushed through this also. Food was alright, just didn't feel too welcoming on this particular evening.
Sophie D — Google review
We dined during The Open golf week so it was very busy. Nevertheless the service was excellent, the food was very good and served promptly. It was quite noisy due to the numbers of diners but not helped by the lack of soft furnishings to soften the noise. It was still an excellent dining experience, highly recommended.
Ken B — Google review
Booked a table for 4 for a birthday celebration. We had a pleasant experience at Urban, nice service, quick service, clean, and nice food. Although, some of my family didn't enjoy their meal as much as they hoped. As their sea bass was dry, and the garlic cubes were hard. I think, in my opinion. With refined cooking techniques, and more care Urban Restaurant could reach their full potential, becuase we came in for an evening meal we booked and we were out in less than an hour. But, I thought the food that I tried was quite nice I tried Bread and Nibbles, Duck Pancakes, caesar salad, and Honey Chilli prawn noodles. The Honey chilli prawn noodles were nice but had too much oil at the bottom of the bowl. Overall, we had a pleasant evening at Urban.
Calvin W — Google review
Visited this place on the evening of 8/10/25 and I've never seen such appalling customer service in any restaurant, pub, chippy, burger van or school canteen!!! Our party of three arrived, after waiting about 3 mins to even be recognised in the place, a woman with short hair who appeared to be a manager or supervisor come over to us. I didn't know it was possible to be seated to a table without said women even saying a word!! ( No hello, welcome, how are yous, how's the weather) And then throw the menu's down on the table and walk away without even asking would we like anything to drink. After 15 mins of being basically ignored we had to call a waitress to ask for our drinks and we ordered our starter and main course at the same time as we probably would still be there if we hadn't. A younger lady server (not with the pink colouring in her hair) came with our drinks and then starter and main course fairly promptly in fairness to her and asked us did we need anything else. The food was good aside from the crispy duck starter being massively over cooked, I don't think the seagulls out at the beach would even eat it. Obviously after our plates were lifted, we weren't asked would we like a dessert, which by this point we had no intention of having. Then after around 15 mins we had to go to the bar ask the less friendly waitress with the pink colouring in her hair for the bill. It was brought down to us with a 'there you are' at the table. As a result of the shocking customer service and extreme lack of people skills by two of the three people, we WILL NEVER EVER BE BACK NEAR IT!!
Sandra M — Google review
I have been told by many people that Urban is a great place to have dinner, and their food is fresh and flavourful. So, I went in with great expectations. Oh boy I was so wrong. The food here was average, not amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was all ‘fresh frozen’ and the sauces came out of a bottle instead of being made in house. The food was not worth the price tags put alongside them. Also, the manager/supervisor (who wore a checkered shirt), wasn’t pleasant. When we arrived, she was really cold and not welcoming. Her behaviour and work ethic was not up to par. I’ve worked in hospitality for 10 years and I can tell when someone dislikes their job. If you like average food with mediocre management, please come here. I will say, the waitresses are quite nice.

Neptune & Prawn is a lively and inviting restaurant that offers a variety of Asian-inspired meat and seafood dishes, along with an assortment of cocktails, beer, and wine. Amazing restaurant with great staff! The food is proper quality Asian fusion, it’s great to see! Obviously when the staff are informative about the menu and help you decide your meal, you know it’s going to be top quality! From the moment you step inside, you are made to feel like you are the only customer and the staff really get to know you. Cocktails are amazing, the food it’s top tier - my favourite spot in portrush, great views and lovely interior! Never misses ❤️

Have to be honest I was rather disappointed. Booked this on reputation and recommendations. The one positive is the large food portions, excellent staff and the 2 courses for 20 pound deal we were advised to have. The food itself was nothing out of the ordinary. The starters were nice. We shared the poppadoms, nachos and chicken wings. The pasta was pretty grim in truth. I simply couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be! Far too creamy with lumps of beef in it. Without the 2 for 20 quid it would have been really poor value.
Nigel B — Google review
Went here on Saturday night after The Open. More of a nightclub than a restaurant… the music was blaring. Food was not great, for the price that was paid - a real lack of fish options for something called Neptune & Prawn. Way, way too busy and not enough staff on. Overhyped and overpriced, unfortunately.
Michael M — Google review
I ate here with 3 friends recently…we shared duck pancakes to start (4each) and then had mains with 4 sides. The food was all lovely. Couldn’t fault any of it. Had a bottle of wine to share. Bill was £170 which I felt was dear. Sides were all separate. The honey chilli chicken dish was £21 approx and then £4 for rice and £6 for chips. So when you add all that in, it works out expensive enough.

I headed there with a friend that has 2 babies and they were very welcoming despite us having a big pram. The staff is kind and very helpful, the food was served quickly and it was delicious, not only visually! Prices are affordable and good enough for the location. Definitely recommend trying their meat!

Amazing food and service. We got sweet and sour chicken and chilli chicken chow mein. Both beautiful, but the chow mein was hot so not for someone who doesn't like spice. 10/10 recommend and will be back again 🤩

A few nice dishes but wouldn't make me want to go back. Bit more expensive than other places, lot of the main dishes come without sides. It always seems to be busy and there was a lot of staff but the service was still slow. Didn't get asked about drinks until we had already been sitting for 20 minutes. Member of staff also dropped cutlery and then dropped some food on a member of our table.

First time here, food and service were excellent and good portions. Duck spring rolls and satay skewers for starter and chilli chicken chow mein and fish and chips, fish was butterfly tempura prawns! Amazing! Back soon.

The Mermaid, part of the Ramore Restaurants in Portrush, is a versatile dining spot offering a wide range of seafood and European dishes. From breakfast to dinner, the restaurant provides an extensive menu at various price points. While some visitors have experienced reduced service due to COVID-19 precautions, others have praised the attentive staff and reasonable prices. Despite mixed reviews on service quality, many patrons recommend booking a table in advance to savor standout dishes like the sea bass.
Took the Fiancee for her 41st birthday, everything was amazing, Nicola who was looking after us was brilliant couldn't ask for a nicer person and so professional that 20k yous spent on her hospitality training deffo has paid off 😁. A wee raise is in order I believe. She even got all the team over brought out a sparkler on a cheesecake for Magdalena and they all sang her happy birthday. Well done to everyone at The Mermaid-Ramore Restaurant. Would recommend the sea food grill. 10 ⭐'s

We had a fantastic evening in Ramore Mermaid in Portrush. Great friendly service, tasty food and great views over the marina and beach. Plates to suit all tastes and pockets. As a 4 We started with the cheese fondue for three and I had the chicken tacos. Then two had steak, one chicken and I had the magnificent seafood mixed grill. Washed down with wine and non alco drinks. £65 a head incl a tip. We defo could have eaten for less or more depending on choice. This was our first time. Won’t be our last. Thanks guys
Brian H — Google review
It was just OKAY. The service was OK. The food was OK. The location and view is lovely. The bang bang chicken was disappointing. The duck pancakes smelled of feet (I’m a deadly serious). My dish was beyond disappointing. It was more like spicy macaroni than anything. With processed chicken. Ugh. Lamb and Hake was reportedly good. Won’t be back.
Seamus M — Google review
Almost don't want to write this review as it will make it harder to get a booking but The Mermaid is now back as probably the best fish restaurants in Northern Ireland. We've eaten here twice in last fortnight and both times it's been truly exceptional. They have a new menu, new staff and new managers and it shows! The cooking is really high end, but relaxed, the quality of the fish is superb, they have a new head bar man called Soorya, and his cocktails and drinks presentation are world class. Lovey buzzy atmosphere and great views. Go, if you can get a booking!
Canice E — Google review
The new Mermaid leaves me with a mixed review, the food was excellent, portion size good but a little overpriced for what it is. Starter of salt and chili tiger prawns was lovely although lacking a little in chilli and salt. A penne pasta dish that would have fed two (normally complain too small!) and a cod dish to die for, overshadowed by a bill for 1 starter 2 main and 1 side , pint and cocktail for £85. Quite expensive imo. But- atmosphere was good if not a little noisy for some from the bigger groups, we walked in to town around 8 and got a table straight away on Friday evening. Our servers were excellent (Ghal I think) and very attentive. Would recommend and return.

The wine bar food amazing! The Dubai pistachio cheesecake best desert I've ever had! Took 1 star off for service purely because you had to walk up to counter to place your order, which seemed odd given the prices. Maybe it was because it was a Wednesday evening, but food was great.

What an absolute gem, went there for my birthday with family, we were seated in the window overlooking the harbour, best view, food was exceptionally good, service was spot on. Best dinning experience I have had in a while. An easy 5 star review

Trendy seafood restaurant with scenic ocean views, cocktails, and fancy presentations. Drinks were a bit pricey, and it was clearly popular on a Saturday night. The menu is a fixed two-course starter & main, and the starters were delicious. Waitstaff was accommodating but busy. Our order of grilled fish got mixed up with the sauce (I ordered Hollandaise but got Pesto), but the kitchen was able to sort it out quickly.

Indian restaurant
Saffron Indian Restaurant, located at 126 Main Street in Portrush, Northern Ireland, offers a delightful array of Indian delicacies. From appetizers to main courses and desserts, the menu features a variety of authentic Indian dishes such as Peshwari naan, lamb saag, and garlic naan. Whether you're dining in or opting for takeaway, this restaurant is known for its delicious offerings that keep customers coming back for more.
Went in as we walked past. Can't understand some of the poor ratings as we had a great meal. One entree and one main course with rice and a naan was easily enough for two and the quality of both was excellent. We have had a lot of Indian food around the world and the food here was up with the best we have had.

I recently dined at this restaurant during my road trip from Dublin. I ordered the special biryani for £15.95, which included a mix of sheep, chicken, and prawns, along with a side of vegetable curry that resembled a thick sambar in appearance. However, it tasted nothing like traditional sambar. Unfortunately, the biryani had uncooked masala (chilli powder) which made it really hot and didn't meet my expectations in terms of taste. When I shared my disappointment with the manager, he mentioned that this is how biryanis are prepared in Northern Ireland, following a lesser-known Indian biryani style that very few people are familiar with. As a traveler, I was hoping for a slightly closer authentic culinary experience. I believe there's room for improvement in the quality of their dishes. Overall, my visit left much to be desired."
Joseph T — Google review
We recently ordered 6 biryanis from your restaurant. When placing the order, we were informed that the regular version is made mild for locals, but you offered to prepare it in a hot, Indian-style version for us. However, we were extremely disappointed with the food we received. It tasted more like plain boiled chicken curry mixed with white rice, without any noticeable spices or flavor. It was so bland that none of us could eat even a single spoon. It was nowhere near the taste or quality expected of biryani. Additionally, we were shocked to find a hair in the food, which raises serious concerns about hygiene. We hope you take this feedback seriously and look into both the preparation quality and hygiene standards. We would appreciate a resolution or refund for this disappointing experience.

Please save your money apart from the garlic nan everything was inedible and I have had bad Currys but I couldn’t eat this or my partner the rice was mushy and like they had used slimy mushrooms we ordered tikka masala’s and the smell at first was a red flag tried it and it was like when you accidentally ate sick a little in your mouth I can’t believe how bad this was please save your money

My God, yesterday we bought 5 chicken biriyani from here, when the cashier asked if we want hot,we said yes but we never expected it to be this much spicy, no human can eat especially children, even if it is Indian spicy eaters. I have 3 kids. After our 4 days stay in Portrush, on the way back to Belfast, we were so hungry and ended up buying food from this place. When we reached home, we tasted the food and it was so spicy and unable to eat. Finally, without any other option we had to wash the rice and give it to the kids as we had no other food to eat. Even after we washed the rice, the kids still couldn't eat. We were sorry to say that this was a very disappointing experience as we wasted 51.50pounds for the worthless food..We have eaten from belfast Indian restaurants before and it was so nice.We felt like chicken boiled and mixed with rice and put a packet of chilly powder in that. No flavour and required masalas. Not even spoons or side salad for takeaway. Anyway very poor experience. From the reviews below, we could find that people who get takeaways can find problems like us.But sit in people find the food okay. Don't know why this is the case. We felt like it was very unhygienic and the chicken was a bit uncooked.Menu was misleading especially for biriyani.chicken biriyani offers 8.9 and while billing 10 and says adding vegcurry.

This place is first class. Su is professional and attentive. The food was delicious, hot and quick. If you're looking for good food served by people who care about doing things right this is the place to go.

Very expensive for the quality. Chicken Korma looked sloppy and rice was a la carte and waitress talked us into ordering two servings of boiled rice, which was too much...it should have come with the meal. Do not recommend.

To Saffron Indian Restaurant & Take Out, Portrush We recently completed a family holiday to the Causeway Coast from Monday, 21st July to Wednesday, 23rd July 2025. On our final day, Wednesday (23/07), we visited Portrush Curry’s Fun Park from 1:00 PM to 5:15 PM with our two families—4 adults, 3 children, and 3 infants. After the park, we were hungry and looking forward to dining at your restaurant. We had specifically chosen your restaurant because it appeared to offer both dine-in and takeaway options. We were aware that it opens at 5 PM, and we arrived around 5:15 PM, expecting to enjoy a proper sit-down Indian meal. However, to our surprise and disappointment, the staff told us you were only offering takeaway—despite a few customers already seated and dining inside. While we looked at the menu to consider placing a takeaway order, we also noticed that the same staff member (who told us it was takeaway only) was actively taking dine-in orders from other seated customers. There was no notice or signage at the entrance indicating that it was “Takeaway Only” service at the time, and we were not given a clear explanation as to why we were denied a table. This was confusing and disheartening. We had visited many restaurants during our holiday—Indian and non-Indian alike—and were treated with fairness and hospitality. This experience at your restaurant felt very different. As Indian families from Kerala, it was especially disappointing to feel unwelcome at an Indian restaurant. It gave the impression that assumptions were being made about us—perhaps that we would order too little, share meals, or disturb other customers. That is simply unfair, especially since we came with the full intention of ordering a proper meal and enjoying our final evening together. Your menu looked extensive and inviting, but unfortunately, we were not given the opportunity to experience it. Instead, we returned to our car and ordered burgers, wraps, and kids’ meals from a local food truck nearby, where we were welcomed and served with respect. If we had taken a takeaway with Indian food such as curries, biryani, and other similar dishes, it would have been extremely difficult to eat properly inside the car—especially with children and infants. That’s why we chose not to order from your restaurant at that time and decided to go to the food truck instead. I don’t know if there was a staff shortage or any other internal issue, but as customers, we deserve to be treated properly. We pay for the food we order—nothing is free—so we expect clear communication and basic courtesy. I also want to make it clear that I don’t have any personal issues with anyone or any business-related competition—I'm not running any restaurant in Northern Ireland or any other place in United Kingdom. I’m simply sharing my experience as a disappointed customer. As a customer own myself, I strongly believe in the principle that “Customer is King.” Treating families—especially those with young children—with warmth and fairness is essential in the hospitality industry. I truly hope your restaurant reflects on how this situation was handled and considers how every customer should be treated with equal respect in the future. We will never visit your restaurant again, will never recommend it to others, and will be sharing this experience with our friends and extended family as well. Sincerely, Dijo

Spending a couple of days in Portrush and had the morning to wander around before a round of golf. Stumbled upon Babushka and am so happy I decided to go in. Friendly staff, great coffee, laid back beach vibe and delicious food made for a fantastic way to start my day. I started with a slice of carrot cake, followed by their signature bacon French toast. I am fully fortified and ready for my round at Royal Portrush! 🔥⛳️🔥

Best food I’ve had all year - and I was in Lyon in the summer! Apparently this tiny place with a gorgeous beach view has only recently opened for dinner reservations. Innovative delicious small plates ( could eat a bowl of the salt and vinegar potatoes on their own quite happily) Attentive service from the chef who skipped in and out of the kitchen to interact with the customers. Plum margaritas a highlight and the food was so good I can back the next day for a takeaway pork belly bun. Jay Rayner was not wrong! All superlative!!

Indigo Cafe Portrush is a charming spot offering an array of lattes, teas, snacks, sandwiches, and home-baked treats. The menu includes vegan and gluten-free options such as chewy brownies fresh from the oven, colorful salads, and cooked pies. The cafe is known for its great vegan options including burgers and sweet bakes. It's also dog-friendly with a special menu for furry friends.
Every week we go to Indigo after our yoga. It has food to suit all needs. I love the scones in particular. They are always perfect and freshly baked. I have also had the small fry which is beautiful if you need something more filling. The service is always first class and I love meeting the doggies each week. Very well behaved!! I highly recommend it.

Mr Chips Diner is a quality chippy that offers everything you would expect and want from a fish and chips experience. The fish supper with peas is highly recommended for its good quality, large portion, and value. The freshly made food has received positive feedback for its wonderful potatoes and crispy, delicious chips. The friendly staff adds to the pleasant dining experience at this clean establishment.
Mum and I had an excellent baked potatoe with fried onions and cheese. Very tasty and great price for the large portion. Amazing view as well of the coast from the inside eating area. Staff are very friendly and helpful and thank goodness because we aren't keen on butter and they made sure to ask if we wanted it before cooking. Will be back next time in Portrush.
Rachel Q — Google review
Mr. Chips Diner offers a taste of no-frills British comfort food. Stepping inside, you'll find a typical diner atmosphere - red vinyl booths, checkered floors, and a menu brimming with familiar favorites. The star of the show, unsurprisingly, is the fish and chips. The fish itself was fresh and flaky, encased in a light and crispy batter. The chips (fries) were a bit on the hit-or-miss side - sometimes perfectly golden and fluffy, other times a tad undercooked. Portions are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied. For a lighter option, the burgers are decent but unremarkable. The patties themselves were juicy, but the toppings felt a bit standard. Service is friendly and efficient, perfect for a casual lunch or quick bite. Overall, Mr. Chips Diner is a reliable option for satisfying basic cravings for British comfort food. It's a good choice for a quick and affordable meal, but it won't leave you with a lasting culinary impression.

Was charged initially for an extra meal that I didn't actually order. Good job I actually noticed and corrected the server. Wait was long (about 10-15 minutes) even though there wasn't much of a queue before us and we were there fairly early about 17:30. £14 for a fish supper... I know it's Portrush (the Riviera), but I think that's overpriced for the take out meal we got. Was given the impression by our server that we were an inconvenience to them. Chips were very dry. Needed a gallon of water to wash them down. I specified... Twice... That I would like salt and vinegar. None was apparent. The fish was good, not greasy. Don't think I'll be visiting again.

This place I imagine is a bit of a tourist chip shop rather than for locals. The big advantage to this chip shop is you can sit in for no additional cost. Service was very friendly. Prices maybe slightly above average but understandable given the location and seating. Ordered 2 chicken fillet burgers but was given a chicken fillet burger and a fish in a bun. The server quickly sorted out the issue very professionally. The chicken fillet was massive although it was fairly bland and greasy. I would not rush back but handy for a seat if you are in Portrush for the day. Overall I would give the place a 3.5 at a push.

We were going to sit in but the girl there slammed the door shut on us, she returned to the takeaway part and actually gave us a dirty look. Obviously can't rate the food as we walked out and didn't order but can rate the staff -- SHOULD BE SACKED !!!

After a patient wait of 15-20 minute, got two fish suppers. Upon opening to eat, one fish was burnt to a crisp and inedible. Other fish was partially burnt. One fish went straight into a bin. I really don't know how anyone can possibly have the cheek to serve that to anybody in that state? Do the staff know how long to cook fish before it becomes overcooked? Needless to say, I won't be going back here.

Also from myself working in catering I am very pleased to see the cleanliness in the establishment. Food was made to go and not left sitting in the heat. Which I am pleased with. I am very pleased with the food, staff and y. I look forward on coming back. I did not getting any of the two women’s names sadly. But I heard them mention the young boys name Olly/Ollie. Their diverse menu includes mouth-watering options like kababs, pizzas, pasta, and even kid-friendly choices. One notable item is their Munch box, which is one of the largest ones they offer.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food here. We got the chicken korma and rice and the chicken fillet kebab. Found both meals to be beautiful and would definitely recommend. Will definitely try again and choose some different next.

Absolutely awful. Terrible experience from start to finish. We went in and ordered. I had a mixed meat kebab. I asked for chicken tikka and lamb. The guy brought me chicken and Dona. I said I don’t want Dona I want lamb. He said dona is lamb, it’s the same. I said well why have you got dona and lamb as separate kebabs on your menu? Eventually he got some lamb tikka and went and cooked that and replaced the dona. Got home 5 minutes away. The food was Luke warm and my lamb tikka was absolutely inedible. It tasted so strongly of salt that I just couldn’t eat it. My wife had a chicken tikka kebab and got big chunks of decent chicken. The chicken I got was completely different. It was the carved dona style one. Awful. Just awful. I would definitely never buy food from here again. It’s been 2 hours since wrote this review. I’ve just had to come back to say that after 2 hours, my mouth is still puckered and all I can still taste is salt.
C — Google review
Not impressed. The lamb tikka was not authentic at all and most of inedible as really dry and tough (yet coated in a thick paste). The chilli naan was okay, however, didn’t feel like it had been freshly cooked. Don’t think I’ll be rushing back. It is a shame as Portrush could do with an authentic Indian restaurant or take away.

I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant last night – vegetable kebab and samosa. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The samosa was awful – the potatoes inside were watery and had a strange, stinky smell. I took one bite and had to throw it away. Then I ate the vegetable kebab, and within a few hours (around midnight), I started having intense stomach pain. Since then, I've been suffering from diarrhea and severe discomfort. Clearly, something was not fresh or hygienic. This is completely unacceptable – food safety should be the top priority for any restaurant. I will definitely not be ordering from here again.
