We had a fantastic dining experience at Porto Restaurant! The food was excellent across the board—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The mixed kofta stood out with its perfectly seasoned meat and juicy texture. The risotto was rich and creamy, cooked to perfection, and the grilled chicken sandwich was a satisfying choice—light yet full of flavor. What truly made the visit special was discovering their impressive kids’ menu. It was a nice surprise to find such a well-thought-out selection for little ones, offering both variety and quality—a rare find in many restaurants. Great restaurant, I booked a table for my partners birthday. They decorated the table with a few birthday bits which was lovely of them and they didn’t have to do! The food just added to the experience, the belly pork and Cumbrian chicken was absolutely delightful. To finish things off, the brownie and ice cream was superb. Would recommend here to anyone visiting the Lakes! Thank you guys!

Tiny place, very cosy, nice atmosphere, staff are very helpful and kind, very professional. The food is unbelievable. It is exactly what it presents itself to be, traditional dishes with a modern twist. We had a beef profiterole, scallops and as mains chicken supreme and beef cheek. It was fantastic. All the components in the dishes were complimenting each other, the horseradish sauce was brilliant. We also had a nice bottle if Italian primitivo, great wine selection overall. Its a bit pricey but totally worth it. Also what really pleased me is that service charge was not added onto the bill. You were not expected to pay it, which obviously makes you happy to add it on considering the quality of the service. One thing that stood out to me were these tiny towels in the bathroom. Gave the place a bit of a fancy kick. Definitely would recommend.

Well presented food and pleasant service. Went here as the places on the waterside were crowded and we wanted something a bit more than pub grub. Particularly enjoyed the beef bourguinion profiterole.

What an amazing place. Ignore josh farrer, he must have given a bad review to get a free meal. Clown. The place is not like a working mens club at all. It is really nice inside. The food however we had today was exceptional. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. The flavour of the jus was so good. The chips are mental, so big but stunning. The chicken tagliatelle was oustanding too. Definitely recommend this place

Wow, the food, ambiance and drinks were delicious. The cheese souffle starter was exquisite. I couldn't get enough of it. For mains, I had the pork, which was delicious and the other had steaks and all enjoyed them. The wines were excellent, as was the after dinner port. The desserts were also a hit with us all. Excellent atmosphere and our server was excellent and friendly. Highly recommend.

The food, just sublime. Wonderful staff and lovely atmosphere as well. What a lovely find…would definitely come back here again.

Decent food portions. Not particularly special. Notable is the pork trotter which is sizeable and fairly good. Service is average, unintrusive but perfunctory. Environment is warm and kid and dog friendly.

We ate here twice during our week in Bowness, and popped in for a drink every day. The pub is absolutely exceptional! Food is great, service is excellent and the atmosphere is so friendly. We took our dog with us everytime and we were made to feel so welcome. They have a special dog menu and station for biscuits, water and bowls which is some of the best facilities we’ve ever seen. We can’t wait to come back on our next break!

This pubs website states that the british food is usually described as bland and not good to compared to other countries (which they then said they changed that). however they made perfectly true in the food we were served! took about 5 mins to speak to someone about getting a table and the staff themselves were nice however the food was terrible. we had a roast dinner each (trio meats) and cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets, food took about 20mins to come out which wasn’t terrible timing i suppose, however i would’ve waited longer if that meant i got something hot! the gravy was like water and had no taste and cold, the meats themselves were bland and cold. potatoes were fluffy however not crispy and had no flavour except soil, unsure if you see the theme but they were cold. the veg was good, once again cold. cauli cheese was hot!! and flavourless… yorkshire tasted store bought and not fresh (cold!!!). pigs in blankets were good but not sure how you could mess that up, they were warm! took about 30mins to get a servers attention, i’m not one to complain but it was a disgrace. so i complained lightly to the server ( who was new and was not trained enough to be serving alone, i’ve worked in pubs i know how this should work.) and he was somewhat apologetic, then the manager came over shortly and he was nice about everything and gave us a 10% discount (i did not ask for any discount this was at his own doing) and offered us free deserts for when we next come, which we won’t be.. atmosphere was nice however nice fire and building, cleanliness was good. however does not make up for the disgrace of a roast and service! we left not happy and still hungry. should’ve got ice cream for desert and the running theme was cold through our visit.

I’ve eaten here a fair few times now. The food here is always nice with good portion sizes. This time I had the new pork knuckle which was huge. Had this dish in Prague recently and this was just as tasty. Traditional pub with nice selection of real ales. Recommended.

Absolutely shocking. Ordered the half chicken and the skin on the chicken was burnt. The meat beneath it was dry and over cooked. Didn’t even offer a discount or for it to be taken off the bill. I tried to eat it all but just wasn’t edible! I don’t complain much at ever. Their response was they had a new cook helping the chef. Well that’s not my problem! You can’t serve food like this!!! If they had offered a discount or taken it off the bill I would not be writing this review. They didn’t even try rectifying the situation.

I was very disappointed in this restaurant which looked so lovely from the website and from the outside. We deliberately chose this place because of the range of options available, since some of our party have certain dietary requirements. To find out that the first menu item they ordered had run out is one thing. That the second had also run out is annoying. We weren’t told of this before ordering at all. Then to find out that of the two burgers we’d ordered, only one could actually be delivered was the last straw. Funnily enough, the one that they did choose to provide was the more expensive of the two. This obviously left a bad taste and I was cross enough that I no longer enjoyed the meal I had been so looking forward to. No great surprise, though, as the quality of the food we were provided with was average at best. We didn’t stay for desert, even though we had initially wanted to, because we didn’t want to spend more of our money here, we were no longer in the mood, and I very much expected to find out that they didn’t have what we wanted anyway. The excuse given was that it was late in the day, which is true, however, this would have been one thing if we were walk-ins, but we had reserved a table days in advance. The least you can expect of a halfway decent restaurant is that they’re actually able to serve you the food you’ve come for, especially if they’ll happily take your booking without mentioning that they might run out.

Highly recommend to everyone! We were visiting Bowness-On-Windermere for 3 days. We had dinner here on the first night and went back for breakfast on the last day. Both meals were incredible. Great value for money and high quality food. You can tell everything has been cooked from fresh! Scrambled eggs to die for too!! Super friendly staff, quick and dog friendly!

Loved the vibe at Magic Roundabout—quirky decor, warm staff, and surprisingly good vine n dine. The beef stroganoff was spot on, and the magic nacho starter disappeared fast (guilty!). Great spot to unwind after a day by the lake.

Highly recommend it here!! Absolutely lovely staff who were extremely helpful, friendly and kind. You can get discount for returning multiple times and it’s hard not to once you’ve been once. Great portion sizes and options and a great selection of teas and food overall. Outside seating catches you some lovely sun in summer. The sourdough served with the breakfasts is immaculate

Cosy and warm atmosphere with lovely staff members. Food looks and tastes great. We ordered a starter each as we thought the specials sounded interesting, plenty of food for price, good for a passing lunch.

Very nice little place in the heart of Bo'ness. Just wanted something snacky, this place was perfect. Had chilli topped fries and nachos. Decent size portions and very tasty. Dog friendly too!! Highly recommend.

Really disappointed. This used to be a really good place to eat and it's clearly gone downhill. My wife ordered the Vegetable lasagna only to be served red sauce in a dish with no pasta sheet to be found. When we brought this up to the (actually very lovely) waitress she went and found the "manager" Raf, who came over to us immediately on the defensive. We explained that the "Lasagna" did not resemble a lasagne and that it didn't actually have any pasta sheets in it. He told us this is what lasagne is... And talked to us like we were idiots for questioning it. Ive lived long enough on this planet to know that lasagne is meant to be a dish LAYERED with sheets (plural) of pasta traditionally 2-5 layers and then filled with vegetables cheese etc. Serving us a pot of chopped tomatos and sticking a sliver of pasta sheet on top is not a lasagne and it's not worth £20. We were so put off by his attitude we didn't bother eating our food. We left, went and got chips and sat by the water. Much more pleasant.

The food will not blow you away but it is good. The lasagna was very tomatoey. It was difficult to find a table and a vegetarian in our group was served a meat pie but the waitress was very apologetic. The atmosphere was good but a bit loud.

We’ve been here a few times for drinks but never eaten. The food was phenomenal, me & the wife loved our meals. I had the beef stew, so good it’d turn a vegan. Pint was a bit pricey but that’s the same pretty much anywhere now.

A very busy bar/pub/restaurant. Dog friendly. We tried on two occasions to get a seat for food but it was very busy so ate elsewhere but did stay for a drink. Higgley piggley but suited the place. Sofas, chairs, stools, cushions. We did see food being served which looked v nice. Would try here again next time in the area.

Location is good. Right on the corner in the middle of town. Too many dogs, on leads and in push chairs, for gods sake. The place smelled so bad of dogs we decided not to eat there. Have a dedicated space for dogs. Won't go again!

Fantastic Sunday dinner! The pub is in a great location, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It gets quite busy on weekends, but it's definitely worth the visit.

Amazing bar staff Andrew and Lewis were non stop! They are polite bd smile the whole shift! The bar is beautiful. Come to bingo on Mondays too! I highly recommend!

We recently returned to this lovely spot after first visiting four years ago, and we’re happy to say the food is still just as great—delicious and beautifully presented, bringing back fond memories of our previous visit. The terrace is a real highlight, offering stunning views out over the lake and the yacht dock—perfect for a relaxing lunch or dinner with a view. Service was warm and attentive, and they were especially accommodating of our dog, which we really appreciated. The only small gripe would be the noticeable price increase compared to our last visit. That said, with everything that’s happened in recent years—COVID, inflation, and rising costs—it’s understandable, and probably to be expected. All in all, a lovely experience in a beautiful setting. We’ll definitely be back again.

The menu is well done, popular dishes we tried were the pulled pork, cock a doodle pink burger, chocolate smoothies, larger. The portion size is satisfactory. The fish and chips were very well done. The restaurant has a nice view overlooking the lake, the ambience is nice and the service is timely, courteous and great. FYI: it’s one the places BeardMeetsFood did the burger challenge, it’s well worth a try. P.S couldn’t add the picture of the chocolate smoothie since I inhaled it in 10 seconds.

Where to begin!! Upon booking there was a section for "special notes/comments", I had wrote that on the day I was proposing to my now fiancé and that if possible we could have a table with a view, they didn't disappoint! Upon arrive all staff were congratulatory to our engagement, Upon seating we received a complementary glass of prosecco and a card of congratulations. Soon after ordering our starters (calamari and halloumi which was delicious 😋) it was with us so quick we was shocked in a very good way, for mains we had 2x 12oz rib eye steaks, after 15yrs of catering experience we have never tasted such a well cooked steaks! Chef's my hat off too you thank you. This was a truely amazing venue for our special occasion! To everyone at Boardwalk Bar & Grill thank so much from the bottom of our hearts for such an amazing meal, service, attention to detail and just thank you, your establishment forever has a special in our hearts and stomachs 😂 thank you again!

I loved the fish and chips, and my Guinness and zero cocktail was great too. They have a huge selection of drinks, and the place has an amazing view. The staff are very lovely and kind. I also really appreciated that some drinks on the menu support donations to a breast cancer association — such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommended! 🍻✨

From your entrance into the restaurant to your table the staff are so welcoming. Then you get fantastic views of the Lake before you look at the menu , I enjoyed the steak as pictured cooked to perfection I will add. The staff are so attentive to your eating experience we were made so welcome and relaxed during our visit . This restaurant is now on my fav list 😋

A very beautiful location with a great plus! What made me choose this place was that it’s right by the lake and also because of their Early Bird special: two courses for £22, three courses for £26, which I think is excellent and very convenient. The only downside was that I came with my dog (2.5 kg) and was told we could only sit downstairs, not upstairs. The upstairs tables are much nicer, which was why I originally wanted to sit there. Perhaps they could consider making the upstairs area dog-friendly. Also, it would be great if they could add more options to the starters or main courses. If you visit more than once, the choices can feel a bit limited; for example, Piri Piri isn’t for everyone and besides fish and chips or a burger, there aren’t many other options. Adding more variety would give customers more to choose from. The service was exceptional and the food was very good. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back!

As someone who has tried a lot Thai Restaurants in UK and also in Thailand, I think the food here is absolutely amazing. The seafood is so fresh and the flavour is more than just tasty. The price is also a plus point, it is in a tourism area but it is not pricey at all, while having the great seating and the best services. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Lake District to try them out.

Best Vegetarian Pad Thai I have had and Thai restaurant I have visited. The staff were amazing and ready to help at any moment. Ever since falling in love the first time I tried Pad Thai, I have struggled to taste a good Pad Thai where the flavours matched how I remembered it, and there is a balance between flavour and spice. This exceeded it and topped the first one I tasted. The presentation was beautiful. King of Siam won for me with it all: taste, food presentation, customer service, location , and the interior drew me in. Honestly, such a perfect meal for an anniversary with my partner. I truly hope I can have a dish that tasty again.

Great food at great prices. The watermelon juice is really tasty and our favourite. The menu has lot of options for vegetarians. It was tasty and portions were more than enough. Definitely recommend!

Hands down one of the best Thai meals we've ever had! Great décor and easy to forget you're in the Lake District for a while. Lots of options on the menu and the food came out quite quickly and it was amazing. The kids have never had Thai before and they really enjoyed it - they just had starters and those were plenty big enough for a 5 and 9 year old. The staff were very friendly - one went out of her way to try and get strawberries for my son's dessert after he said he really liked them. She later told me they'd run out so she'd been to the shop and they didn't have any either. I said not to worry about it and was asked if he liked raspberries. I said he loved them - thinking the restaurant had some - but she then went back out to the shop to get raspberries so he'd have some on his dessert. Such a nice touch and definitely above and beyond - he loved it! Will be visiting again next time we're in the area!

Visited King of Siam with my family and tried a variety of dishes — Spicy King Prawns, Salted Squid, Prawns Fried Rice, Chicken Fried Rice, and Papaya Salad. The seafood was fresh, and the prawns were cooked perfectly with a nice balance of spice. The salted squid was crisp on the outside and tender inside. Fried rice portions were generous and flavorful, and the papaya salad added a refreshing, tangy kick to the meal. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Overall, a satisfying dining experience for Thai food lovers.

We visited as part of a big group and did cocktail making, dinner and then karaoke. A great venue for groups - 3 different floors with lots to offer. Food portions were huge but the food tasted great! Karaoke was in a room on the third floor - you were able to order drinks via a buzzer and they arrived quick. A great venue to come to as a group!

We really enjoyed our meal, we had the steak board, it is a random fusion of dishes but all were really nice quality. All dishes were seasoned really well and the steak was cooked to perfection. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, the venue is nicely styled and staff are friendly and enthusiastic about the menu. We started with the crispy lamb bites and crispy pork belly bites, followed by the dirty lee burger and a red thai duck curru that was probably one of the best thai curries I've had with amazing layers or flavour. But the star of the show was the damson blossom cheesecake which was a treat for both the tastebuds and the eyes. Next time we're back in the lake district Baha will definitely be on the list for a repeat visit

Booked here as staying locally. We had 1 starter two main and a bottle of wine. Even though the food was very nice we did think a tad expensive. We never had anyone check to see if our food was nice or to see if we needed anything else. The restaurant was not busy. At £28 for a bottle of house wine it would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted it opening/ pouring but just got it left on our table. Tbh the staff didn’t seem jolly or interested. The walls were marked and could have done with a bit of fresh decoration. But couldn’t fault the food we had. Asked for the bill but after waiting a while we put our coats on and had to go to the bar as our bill never turned up. Our bill had a service charge added so check this as you don’t have to pay it! Overall enjoyed our food but won’t be returning.

Amazing food. We ordered 8 dishes between 2 of us and everything was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend the Filipino short rib with bone marrow and the rum punch. Will be coming back here next time we are in Bowness.

The best vegan roast dinner I’ve ever had and one of the top 3 of ANY roast dinners I’ve ever had!!! So delicious, warming, and friendly service. 5 stars!

We came here in two days in row. The second day they made the special appetizer of mushrooms and garlic sauce, just for us. I really recommend this place if you want to enjoy your drink, food, and the best service ever.

Had Sunday brunch here, though we seemed to be the only ones who ordered that 🙈 Had the beef and the lamb, lamb was better. Waited awfully long for the food though! People who ordered pizzas or burgers seemed to have gotten them faster.

Had the beef rib main, it just melted off the bone! Huge portion, tasted unbelievable. The mash, veg, gravy/jus was just incredible too! Cant wait to come back and try more on the menu. Excellent value for money too especially for the quality of the food! Gluten free options available (shame the fries were cooked in the same fryer as some of the other gluten products- but the waitress informed us of this before we ordered thankfully)! and they are also dog friendly too! Very welcoming and super friendly. Don’t walk past this place! You must try it!!

I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant today. We ordered two hamburgers and honestly, it was the worst one I've ever had. The meat had absolutely no flavor—it tasted like it had been boiled, not grilled. There was no seasoning, no texture, just a bland, soggy mess. I couldn't even finish it, and that's saying a lot because I almost never leave food on my plate. If you're looking for a good burger, I suggest you look elsewhere. This place seriously needs to rethink how they prepare their food.

Such a lovely place to eat out. We had a dog with us, so they made sure she has some water to drink and everyone was so lovely. We went there at least a few times during out stay as it's tucked in away from all the crowds, but still very close to the main areas of the city. They have loads of choice for all sorts of food, so there is definitely something for everyone. Food itself is a little bit on the pricey side, but the quality is well worth to pay for. They also had some live music on the weekend. Would definitely visit again!

Visited the Easy Breeze for the first time and was really impressed. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing! We both had the salt and pepper chicken and loved it.

We've visited this beautiful restaurant and bar since we first got together in 2006, every time we visit Bo'ness we make a beeline for Bodega Bar. The food is as scrumptious as it was on our first visit. We visited here the night before we found out we were going to be parents- even taught the barman how to make B52 shots lol We recently visited here for our 18th Anniversary, taking it back to where we started. A wonderful place for drinks, Tapas, relaxing, or even a warm through in those colder Autumn days when they have the roaring fire going to accompany a nice cup of tea or whatever you choose. Absolutely wonderful place!

Very pleasant atmosphere in the bar with Spanish background music creating a really relaxing holiday feeling. The drinks selection was good, although a keg ale that is not Beavertown might appreciated by some. Staff, for the most part were smiley and friendly although one guy came across as a tad full of himself. Lovely place for people watching in the centre of Bowness.

Great food & drinks, our server Charlie was lovely and moved us to a bigger table when he saw how much we’d ordered despite the restaurant being extremely busy, would definitely come here again!

Sad to now review so differently to 9 months ago.... poor customer service. Ordered a white wine I always have £9.20 and it tasted vile, warm more like a French or Chille wine or it had been open too long. Husband took back to be told no one else has had issue. No sorry can I get you something else... very poor customer service. We were going to go for dinner tomorrow we will take our business elsewhere.

Good food, great service and vibe. My family and I really enjoyed our dinner there. They have a good and different selection of desserts and wine. It was warm, cozy and homely.

Had a great dinner here. Typical classic Italian restaurant with all the usual dishes and some interesting specials. Chicken liver starter was excellent, as were all three pasta dishes we chose. Wine list is extensive if a little expensive. Good range of beers. Part of the place is up a set of stairs on the first floor. Something to be aware of if you find stairs an issue. Would recommend reserving a table as it was very busy when we were there. Despite this service was quick and friendly. for what we had it was also good value.

"Well, that was quite the experience. Walked in tonight around 6pm hoping to grab a table and asked to see a menu. The place was practically empty - just one couple dining - but apparently that didn't matter. The staff member who greeted us had all the warmth of a glacier. Instead of showing us a menu, we got the third degree about whether we had a reservation. When we said no, we were curtly informed they were 'fully booked' - which was particularly amusing given the sea of empty tables staring back at us. The whole interaction was bizarre and unwelcoming. No apology, no suggestion of when we might come back, just a flat-out dismissal that left us scratching our heads. The attitude was unnecessarily rude and frankly unprofessional. Safe to say we won't be making a return visit. Thankfully, there are three other Italian restaurants in town that actually seem to want customers. Would definitely recommend checking out one of those instead - at least they'll probably let you see a menu without treating you like you're asking for state secrets. Great little family Italian restaurant in Bowness on Windermere. Friendly attentive service delicious well presented traditional food. Reasonable prices and interesting cuisine with good specials board. Booking advised as it’s quite small. Recommended !

Fabulous family run business with Incredible food, you can immediately see the effort, heart and soul that goes into the food. Both pasta dishes were amazing, my wife ordered pasta napoli whilst I ordered the rigatoni. For desert, the cantuccini was incredible and my Wife was speechless at the afogato! Incredible! I came here two days after my wedding, during our honeymoon and the service were so nice and friendly! The service was so fast and we enjoyed a lovely chat with the service about Italy! If there were six stars I would give them that! Highly recommended!

We each ordered a different main dish, and in my opinion, the best one was the BBQ burger — the pulled pork inside had a surprisingly good flavor. The Classic burger was a bit disappointing, as the patty was dry and overcooked. The swordfish was okay, though maybe a bit too firm in texture for my taste (might be because I haven’t had it before). The fish and chips came in a large portion, but the flavor was pretty average and nothing particularly special. The staff were polite at times, and the food was served quite quickly, which was a plus.

Lovely setting - we were sat upstairs, we found it decent that you didn’t have to book you could just walk in - offering flexibility etc. Quick and prompt service, wasn’t the cheapest meal but definitely worth it. Highly recommend the prawn starter, ribeye and sticky toffee pudding!

I kind of like that this place does not take bookings over the phone. It is an unconventional choice on their part that cleverly fills a gap in the market that is occupied by people like me, too busy enjoying the Lake District to remember to book a table. I was lucky enough to walk straight to a table for my visit, but if I had to wait that was kind of on me really. And sometimes it can be kind of reassuring to see that a place is busy enough that you need to wait. Staff were professional and courteous and service was as quick as I would expect when the place is busy. Food was nicely presented and there was a generous amount of it. The three scoops of ice cream dessert was noteworthy for the sheer volume that I received. Served in a seemingly bottomless Sundae glass, any future orders elsewhere will seem small by comparison. Cozy surroundings and a lively atmosphere round this one off quite nicely.

We popped along to Hyltons last night they have a policy of not accepting bookings it's first come first serve. We were lucky as it was around about 6.30pm and there were a few empty tables in the lower restaurant area so we sat in the window. On entering the staff were welcoming, friendly and polite. After being seated we ordered our gin and tonics and wine 🍷 then ordered our meals. The good lady had the sea bass from the specials menu and I had the BBQ ribs both dishes arrived in good time being well presented hot and delicious 😋. We would highly recommend Hyltons as the food is good quality and the service is spot on.

We had fantastic dining experience yesterday- served by great team on the upper level. We wanted to try unfortunately only able to order 4 meals ( 3 of us 😊😀). We ordered: sirloin steak ( good) , mussel ( food - a little too salty to my taste bud), beef burger ( very good) , swordfish ( not so good- better seabass if fish menu is preferred- looks yummier as our neighbor order it)

The food was absolutely incredible, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant had a fantastic vibe, and the whole experience was a solid 10/10. We can't wait to come back

The two dishes that we ordered here were so bad that were not eatable, so I returned them to the chef. We ordered the Lancashire hot pot and the beef and ale pie. The hot pot was way too salty, it was so salty that you felt bitter in the mouth, so we stopped eating after one bite. The pie was slightly less salty than the hot pot, but still way too salty, we managed ate a few more bites then could not tolerate any more. Shall we put a tariff on salt, shall we not? Those were the worst food that we have ever had. We returned both dishes back to the chef. They did not apologize but desperately charged the full amount for the pie. The food was bad, the service was not better. The only positive thing here is that it won't be worse any more.

**Terrible Service and Rude Staff - Avoid at All Costs!** As a local guide.. I don't recommend! I had the worst dining experience ever at Sahib's Indian restaurant in the Windermere. I believe this is not an Indian restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly rude and arrogant. It's shocking how poorly they treat their customers. Not only did they lack any basic courtesy, but they also acted like they were doing me a favor by even acknowledging my presence. The service was painfully slow, and when I tried to ask for an update on my order, I was met with dismissive and sarcastic responses. It felt like they couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. I honestly can't believe how a restaurant can operate with such unprofessional and disrespectful staff. Save yourself the trouble and take your money elsewhere. This place is a complete disaster.

Food is good but if you were Asian you won't get much respect compared to the locals / west people. They do delay in food, won't give proper respect, they do miss some serving stuff, staff won't repond if you remainder also. Everyone is paying the same money, all do get the same respect but you won't get even you remainder also. We searched for the Indian hotel and walked a mile to taste...we didn't expect this really. Please improve from next 🙏🙏

Probably the worst restaurant in the entire United Kingdom. Me and my husband went there for dining. The waiter first asked us to wait and then came back. We thought that the table is now ready. He then asked us how much money’s worth are we going to order ? For us surprisingly there was a minimum spend of 15 GBP per person. I don’t remember even the best Michelin star restaurant in London asking me that. It is my sincere suggestion to everyone. If you are Asian of any form please don’t visit this restaurant unless you like to disrespect yourself. Probably the most racist restaurant in the world( And I have travelled a lot across the world). P.S. we felt so insulted that we didn’t have food there, tried a different Indian restaurant in the area. I have seen the response from the restaurant and that is absolutely misleading! A restaurant can have 15£ pp to spend as a minimum requirement and that’s absolutely not the issue here. We were waiting in the lounge and we were the only Asian couple waiting at that time along with 3 other British couples. None of them were separately asked if they would be spending 15£ pp or not. Just before seating us, the waiter directly asked us “how much are you going to spend, it has to be more than 15£ pp”! Do you think this is the correct way of communication with your customers? If so, you’re in the wrong business man! By the way, we took the table and then decided to not eat, since your behaviour was so insulting! We are Indians and we know how to welcome our guests and I am sure you don’t and especially the ones with your colour.. P.S : we finally had dinner in another Indian restaurant nearby with amazing food and no minimum amount of spending and happily spent 20£ pp 😊

Rebranded to Taste of India - Really nice food. Enjoyed the Saag Paneer! Would highly recommend if you are wanting quality Indian food in Windermere.

Good quality restaurant, had an excellent experience here. Food was very good with decent portion sizes. Good selection of all the usual Indian standards plus a range of specials we'd not come across before. Staff were great, and pricing reasonable. Note this restaurant is on an upper floor and is reached by several flights of stairs.Would recommend a reservation as it is popular.

We stayed near Ulverston and were been on the look out for a restaurant which have good rating, good service & good food. I don’t for some reason any restaurant reviews I checked had a customer review as rude and not worth, on the other hand Shahib’s have better feedback. We decided to have our dinner 12miles away from where we stayed. As we entered there was a person who out of surprise asked you need to spend 18 pounds each minimum, tbh nobody ask this but he could have his reason, we ignored and got our seat. Other staff around were really good and polite, they came up took our order. We ordered chicken tandoori, chicken karahi, paneer masala, aaloo tikki and some naan. We really enjoyed the food it was delicious and made our travel all the way from ulverston worth coming. I would really recommend if you near windermere or like us 12 miles away and searching for a good food.

EXELLENTAY. Being from Bradford it’s hard to get a good authentic curry, but this place delivered. Ordered keema Balti and biryani and both was right flavour and consistency. Would recommend.

If your hungry try the ploughman's, or it can be shared, and the fish pie looked very tasty. The pudding was sticky toffee pud and custard was nice and light and hot. All washed down with a couple of pints. A very enjoyable evening. 🤗 Thanks

A cosy and historic pub with loads of character! It was built in 1612. The oldest pub in the Lake District. The Hole in t’Wall is full of charm, with its low beams, open fire, and friendly atmosphere. The food is hearty and delicious, and the drinks selection is excellent. Staff are welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home. A perfect place to relax after exploring Windermere – it truly feels like a hidden gem.

Staff were gorgeous with my toddler, we had the best fish pie I’ve ever had and Lamb Henry too. Would go here every day of holiday if we could, we’re considering it!

Always visit when we are in Bowness. Quirky old style pub. Can vouch for the steak and ale pie. Great juke box in back room.. Quiet in front room.. Good selection of beers. Friendly staff, great live music on Friday nights.

Visiting the Lakes this weekend , got in quite late so went here for a quick pint or two. Really nice place, decent beer (mostly Robinson's, I guess they own it?). Quiet on a Thursday, so ideal for a reading a book before bed.

We stopped by this pizza place for a bite and really enjoyed it. We ordered a bottle of house Chenin Blanc, which was light and pretty tasty. For food, we had a Margherita and a Pepperoni pizza. The place was quite full, but it had a nice vibe and the food didn’t take too long to arrive. The flavour of the pizzas was really good – we’d give it a solid 4.2 stars. The sauce had a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness, the cheese was delicious and generously layered, and the oregano and seasoning were spot on. Being able to add parmesan and pepper at the table was a nice touch. The only downside was the dough – while it had good flavour, it lacked the big air bubbles and lightness you often find in traditional Italian pizza. Still, it was tasty overall. To finish off, I had a latte – really simple, but tasty coffee. A great spot to enjoy some good food and drinks!

The food is amazing, and the service is heartwarming. I totally recommend the Caesar salad it’s a killer and the beef lasagna is to die for! And the TIRAMISU is going to be the end of you…

First time here on a family weekend away with two children. Amazing service. Food was fabulous. Hats off to the chef. I had the chefs special pan sierd chilli steak strips in a lemon creamy sauce. It was absolutely divine. So refreshing too eat somewhere like this

This was a lovely place for my family to eat. The food was great and the service was excellent. For the 3 of us with drinks, mains and dessert the cost was around £100. Worth a visit but I would try to book ahead.

Didn’t eat but a really good selection of beers & IPA’s. The atmosphere in this place is chilled, warm, inviting. Very dog friendly with a roaring open fire to keep you warm.

The Crafty Baa was a really unique pub we visited on our trip to the Lakes. We stopped in for a couple of drinks. We were served by Tom who was an absolute gem. He asked what we liked and gave some reccomendations. We didn't have any food, but the menu looked good and we saw others enjoying a bite to each. If we're ever in the Lakes again, we would 100% visit again. Fabulous offering and so many quirky decor elements to discover.

Cracking tardis like pub in Windermere. Eclectic decor, great range of beers and ciders. Good selection of quirkily named, reasonably priced meals. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

An absolutely superb themed bar. Great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Baa had an excellent range of beers, ciders and ales on tap as well as refrigerated bottled beers, lagers, cider, IPA and ales. Pipped music sets the scene. Ask for Tom to start your next drinking journey.

This place is amazing, I visited Windermere for work as a travelling bridal makeup artist, and as I was staying over, I wanted to check out somewhere local. The Crafty Baa is such a fun quirky pub and you can see all the hard work and dedication the family have put into creating this place. I had no idea about the haunted room so I had to see for myself, there were folks in there so I didn't get a proper look, but I'll bring my husband next time and we will get a table there. It didn't occur to me that the Crafty Baa meant that it was all craft beers, but with help from the staff, I chose the 1664 IPA, I'm not a beer drinker but it was actually quite nice. For food I couldn't decide between Mac and cheese balls or the good cluckin chicken wrap, so I ordered both and boy were they delicious! It looks small on the outside but there are tables on every floor and the place was packed, I sat outside on the porch. They had a coal fire inside which was lovely but too hot for me, however outside had a heater for when the night air got chilly, there was also shelter when it rained a little. I was visiting on my own and overall had a fantastic wander out before retiring back at the hotel. This one is a place to visit and I'll definitely be back

The Crafty Baa has an incredible atmosphere—cozy, quirky, and full of personality. Everywhere you look there’s something interesting to catch your eye, the decor alone is worth the visit. The range of drinks is honestly insane, with options to suit absolutely any taste. I also loved the free bar snacks, which is such a nice touch, and the food itself was great. Friendly, welcoming, and completely unique—can’t recommend it enough!

Plates were cleared quickly after the starter, and hot plates were promptly provided for the main course. Atmosphere (4/5) The restaurant’s exterior was appealing, but the interior decor didn’t quite match the expectations set by the outside. We had a meal at Lake Raj whilst visiting the Lake District. We've visited on previous occasions where we have been impressed with the experience. This visit was no different. The food was lovely, the dining area was pleasant and welcoming and Matin and the team were fantastic and very attentive, leaving no stone unturned. I had a wonderful experience at lake raj restaurant! The food was delicious, full of authentic flavor, fresh, and perfectly spiced. But what really made the visit stand out was the service. Raj, who served us, was absolutely fantastic, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He made sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable.

Enjoyed a date night here visiting Lake District. Ordered a spicy chicken biryani, lamb kharai, chicken masala and a saag aloo with buttered naan. Was insanely tasty & hosts were super lovely. Halal friendly and lovely cosy area.

Booked a table for 2x. Prices for the beer is extortionate, lamb tikka starter was very very fatty / chewy as though not cooked properly. ( lamb can be chewy but not like you could chew it for a month ) Felt very rushed and the staff were just walking around as if they didn’t want to be there. Atmosphere mood was very low and not very welcoming at all. I also looked around and staff members did ask people how there food was…. Why didn’t you ask us? Is it just as of when you feel like it? For such a location you should all be dressed smart where as the one lad had curry all Over his sleeves on his white shirt. Take pride in what you do and welcome customers for a great experience in a great location in the UK. To eat popadoms / starters and mains all in less than an hour is very rushed food! Very disappointed. And for £56 I feel Iv had my wallet dipped.

We booked in advance for afternoon tea as part of our honeymoon at the ChoccoBar after trying their luxury hot chocolates which were delightful. It was beautifully presented on a three tier stand with all products sourced locally and hand made. The scones were fresh out the oven and were delicious. This was very reasonably priced at £50 and the service was unbelievable they went above and beyond and offered us takeaway boxes when we couldn't finish all the food. We've had afternoon teas in different parts of the UK such as Betty's tea house in Harrogate but it doesn't compare to this. This is the most lovely experience we've had ran by a family. We would definitely recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Wonderful Late-Night Treat! We visited this lovely chocolate shop café late at night with our two young boys and our puppy, and it was such a warm and memorable experience. The boys had churros with rich chocolate dipping sauce — absolutely delicious! The owner, her son George, and their sweet dog Holly were so friendly and welcoming, instantly making us feel at home. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days — they were amazing hosts and made our visit one of the highlights of our holiday in Bowness. The hot chocolate was outstanding (a real sample of perfection!), and the boys couldn’t have been happier tucking into their churros. A true gem in the Lake District — we’ll definitely be back!

I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries, chocolate and ice cream, it was absolutely delicious! I’m a celiac, so I was pleased to know the waffles are gluten free. The hot chocolate was probably the best I’ve tasted, seriously! Owner was lovely and welcoming! I’ll be a regular customer from now on.

Used to be absolutely fantastic, huge portions, REAL cream. In the last few years, the portion sizes have decreased massively, despite price increases. The waffles are barely bigger than a small plate. The toppings used to be a mountain on top of the waffles and that's what we were paying for which was well worth it. No longer serve freshly whipped cream which is disappointing. This place used to stand out due to the great toppings and the fresh cream with the scones and hot chocolates. Now very poor quality, nothing special at all. Such a let down when it used to be incredible, I would've recommended to anyone from 2022-2023.. now I would say to avoid. I would absolutely come back if the toppings improved and you still offered fresh cream, sorry guys, I was sad to make this review:(

We’ve just returned from our trip to Bowness-on-Windermere, and I can’t stop thinking about the heavenly hot chocolate from ChoccoBar! Honestly, it’s the best I’ve ever had, rich, silky, and absolutely indulgent. Each sip felt like pure luxury in a cup! The café itself is wonderful too, warm, cozy, and run by the loveliest, most welcoming owner who made us feel right at home. We were so obsessed with the hot chocolate that we couldn’t leave without buying two pouches to take home (and they smell divine!). If you’re in Windermere, do yourself a favour and stop by ChoccoBar, missing it would be a serious mistake for any chocolate lover! 🍫

Rhona was incredibly warm and chatty, making me feel right at home. And her hot chocolate was truly luxurious and rich - it alone is worth the visit! I highly recommend this place to everyone. I will definitely be back.

I have walked past this venue hundreds of times, and it usually looks very nice. My partner and I decided to give it a whirl as we couldn’t be bothered cooking breakfast at home and I’ve got to say I was very disappointed. The female who served us, wearing a pink jumper, lacked basic customer service skills and appeared to not be interested in us. When we arrived she just pointed at a table with no welcoming greeting. She didn’t smile and appeared to be very rude. The eggs Benedict was of poor quality and very expensive for what it was, a very small slice of toast in the middle of a big plate. The salt shaker broke whilst trying to use it. I ordered a cappuccino and was just served a wet milky mess of a drink. I will not be returning.

Don’t be fooled by the first glance at the picture with this review! Look closely and you’ll see that my “smashed avocado on toast” is actually a prettily dressed slice of white bread that hasn’t been toasted and guacamole from a bottle! My sister’s pancakes were similarly prepared in a factory who knows how long ago! The servers attitude about it was far from apologetic and while he did remove the item from the bill he made a big deal about 15p that was left after we split the bill!

One of the best Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon I've had in quite a while. The Avocado on toast was also delicious and the coffee was very smooth. Highly recommend. Still as good, 3 years later.

Tried other places and thought this place looked nice and cozy. Ordered a large and a small breakfast with tea and a flat white coffee. The coffee was a cappuccino not a flat white. When the breakfasts arrived they looked nice. The eggs were placed on top of the toast which made it greasy and I wasn’t able to eat it. The eggs had pepper on them which is a personal choice to have on or not. The bacon was hard dry and broke rather than cut and was salty. The sausage was very peppery. Got more juice than beans. The salt grinder was throwing salt out of the top as much as the bottom. The small breakfast had black pudding and a hash brown on which wasn’t on the menu. Hash brown was ok but wouldn’t have had the black pudding. All in all not the greatest of experiences and at the price paid made it worse. I don’t mind paying a higher cost if the overall quality is worth it. We won’t be returning.

We arrived on a rainy evening and so grateful to be able to find this place for dinner without booking. Throughly enjoyed all the starters that we ordered. Great flavours, fresh and tasty. We had their Urban Fried Chicken Burger for main which was a bit dry and the seasoning was not as great as their starters. Staffs were all very friendly and attentive. Overall, it’s a nice dining experience!

Firstly, Nathan - absolute LEGEND! A very attentive, polite waiter, a really great lad. We really enjoyed out trip to the lakes and places like Urban Food House helped massively. We have a sausage dog and many places around Windermere surprisingly don't let you in with a dog. At Urban Food our dog was made to feel welcome, Nathan found us a table with space and then got the dog a water bowl, happy days. We were by the kitchen, really happy bunch, I preferred their music to the restaurant music, was great to feed off of their happiness, loved it. One day we came in for mussels and we were too early, as a one off they discussed with the chef and served the Mrs mussels and they were incredible. Good food, good service, good beer = good times. THANKS TEAM AND THANKS NATHAN!

I simply CAN NOT express how AWFUL this place was, i would genuinely give 0 stars if that was an option, not a single good point could be made. Our visit was on 10th April, around lunch time. When ordering we seemed to be one of three other tables, so not at all busy. We were ‘greeted’ by the rudest man I have ever come across in hospitality, but by far the worst thing about our visit was the food. It is still repeating on us days later.. I will attach a photo of my ‘carbonara’ which was literally plain pasta with SCRAMBLED egg and fatty bacon. I was asked if I wanted cream??? in what world does an authentic italian eatery offer CREAM in a carbonara?? it’s literally one of the simplest dishes you can offer! The cheesy garlic bread was also like one of those cheap ones you get after a night out from some back street kebab shop. Tasted absolutely rank. Not sure if the chefs were the usual ones you use.. but they couldn’t cook an italian dish to save their lives… If you are reading this review and considering attending this place, please do not waste your time or money. I genuinely wish I had spent my £60 at costa down the road..

A Culinary Crime Scene Masquerading as Carbonara To call what was served to me “carbonara” would be a gross misuse of language — and frankly, an insult to anyone possessing functioning taste buds. What arrived at my table was not a dish but a cautionary tale. The pasta, first and most grievously, was cooked to a state I can only describe as culinary negligence. Limp, bloated, and robbed of all dignity, each strand disintegrated in my mouth like a tragic soliloquy. Whoever manned the pot clearly believes that al dente is a myth invented to torment them. Then came the bacon — or rather, its pale, quivering impersonation. Instead of the crisp, golden shards one might expect from a competent kitchen, I was met with rubbery strips of undercooked fat, audibly weeping under the faintest pressure of my fork. It was as though the chef had shown the pan to the bacon from across the room and then decided their work was done. The sauce, meanwhile, possessed the texture of overworked wallpaper paste, clinging to the pasta with the clingy desperation of a bad ex. The flavor was a discordant mess: egg cooked into chalk, cheese dumped with all the subtlety of a snowstorm, and not a hint of the luxurious silkiness that carbonara so gloriously demands. This was not an unfortunate misstep; it was a calculated ambush on Italian cuisine. If Dante were alive to witness this, he’d be forced to carve a tenth circle of hell for whoever masterminded it. One star — awarded solely to the cutlery, which, unlike the dish, did not personally offend me.

Great atmosphere but horrible food. Do not recommend. Food came quickly. Table service was good. I ordered gnocchi pesto but it was so bland and oily. Pesto was likely not fresh. I could not finish my food despite being famished after a 10-km hike. My friend ordered a Margherita with extra buffalo cheese on top. The restaurant actually ruined it by baking the buffalo cheese with the pizza. We also got some salad which was fine. Although the service was alright, there was nothing good to mention about the food.

Food was alright, and our server was three days on the job and a very sweet young lad. However, we had an older Italian man with glasses bring us our food and he was quite rude to my father. Not sure if he thought we were American, but he was short and snippy with him when my father said he wasn’t made aware of all the cheese on the potatoes (he’s lactose intolerant). 3 stars. 4 for food (it was delicious), 3 for the service (the little English lad saved this, it was gonna be a 2), and 3 for atmosphere (no air con, and HOT HOT HOT).

Fabulous Italian restaurant very authentic couldn’t do enough for us; we arrived an hour early as our taxi was rather early they accommodated us and gave us complimentary drinks; never had that before ❤️Fab food the King Prawn starter was to die for and we were given complimentary Lemoncello liqueurs too; amazing thoroughly recommend fa food fab service busy restaurant all tables taken so do book up!

The Arrabbiata pasta was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The shrimp were fresh and tasty, though a bit on the spicy side. Service could’ve been better; we waited about 10–15 minutes before anyone approached us. That said, once we ordered, the food arrived incredibly fast — within 5–10 minutes. Overall, great food, decent experience.

We had a lovely meal here. Staff were friendly and even attentive to our dog giving him a treat and bringing water over to him. The food was mostly lovely. Wasn't so keen on the beef brisket sandwich, beef was hard at the ends couldnt even bite through it 🤣 The prawn and halloumi pasta special and fish and chips were very good. Food came out quickly. Would recommend eating here.

A really nice place to have some pub food with a view close to Bowness. The sweet and sour pork belly was very flavorful and the two mains also really great, even though a bit too oily. We had a fun night while also participating in the Thursday night pub quiz!

Great spot for lunch on the marina. Friendly staff and both indoor/outdoor seating available. Reasonably priced lunch options. Only suggestion would be to serve the Steak and Onion sandwich in a ciabatta roll rather than the sliced bread - it did not hold up well!

Really pretty place, it was quite quiet during our visit which meant we got a lovely window seat looking out at the view. Staff were polite and attentive, and really great with my allergies too. Cocktails were delicious and well made made. My partner had Sweet & Sour Pork Belly Bites to start which were delicious! I had Creamy Mushrooms with Sour Dough & a Poached Egg and it was so yummy. For mains, I ordered the Thai Green Curry, and my partner had Fish & Chips. The curry was VERY spicy for Thai Green, so I struggled to eat it but the flavours were lovely. Partners chips were especially good, and overall all really nice! We didn't have space for dessert!

What a great little last minute find 💕 food was incredible,what you needed on a stormy and wet day. Amazing little find for our mini honeymoon 😌 Dog friendly and does great cocktails.

We were staying in one of the boathouses on the marina in February and called here on our first night for food and a drink. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good , I had the mussels which I really enjoyed. The Boathouse setting directly on the marina is very nice and it had some seating outside which I can imagine in the summer would be lovely.

We booked a table here for my husbands birthday as it looked lovely and had good reviews. It was a Sunday evening and the table was confirmed for 8pm. Upon arrival the restaurant looked lovely but was very quiet with just one table of 4 dining. The waiter was very pleasant and brought a birthday card and prosecco over for the husband to acknowledge his birthday, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately once seated we were advised the restaurant had sold out of many items and when looking at the menu there were other items missing that we had seen online. This left the menu too limited for us, as we had our 14yr old son with us too, and we chose to leave. We had tried to call and book the table however there was no answer so we had to book online. Had we been able to speak to someone they may have been able to pre warn us of the limited menu. A real shame as we had looked forward to a meal here for a special birthday.

The best food we’ve had so far on our tour! I had the Japanese Curry + Rice and it was fantastic! My friends had the Special Chicken Graze Rice Bowl and said it was great as well! We would definitely recommend checking it out.

Best meal out I've had in ages! The cuisine was exceptional, and as a vegan I had so much choice. Enjoyed the salads to start and the hearty and comforting noodle bowl, perfect for a rainy day

Very good place to eat with the family. We feel the japanese spicy in every meal and the famous Ramune (japanese lemonade) drinks.

For the price I'd thought portion was very small. £3 for a can of coke?a bit steep. £47 for 2 adults and 1 child. My gyudon was a bit chewy as a native eater. 3 of 5 stars for me as much can be improved in balance between price vs portion control.

Our family enjoys Japanese food and we were delighted to find this place in the Lake District. The food is absolutely delicious—especially the Japanese curry bowls, which were rich, comforting, and incredibly flavorful. You can really taste the care and authenticity in every bite. There was a little confusion when we first arrived about how and where to place our order, and the food did take over 30 minutes to come out. That said, the quality more than made up for the wait. Once the food arrived, it was clear it was worth waiting for.

Super friendly & accommodating staff Only one gluten free option on the menu 'tofu' however they checked & replaced with chicken for me. The chef even came out & said he was just washing down for me! Gorgeous food! Thankyou!

If you are visiting the Lake district for a pint with a perfect view, then the lake view garden bar is a must. It offers an amazing view of the lakes. There is a balcony or garden area to take in the views and atmosphere. There is also a qwerkyness to the place too if you chose to sit in, with plenty of decor to look around. The food is very nice too, it looks and tasted amazing plenty of choice to choose from not just your average pub food.

The Lake View Garden Bar is a fantastic spot with stunning views across the lake, making it the perfect place to relax with a drink and a meal. 🛥️🌄 The food was excellent 🤤 All in all, a brilliant experience, and we'll definitely be back! 🫶🏼🤞🏼

Called in here for a drink. We sat outside one afternoon which was nice as it overlooked the lake and had patio heaters. One evening we sat inside and there was a singer / guitarist on which was nice. Dog friendly.

Food and drinks aren’t the cheapest here but you need to remember you aren’t just paying for the food you are also paying for the location so it’s reasonable when you see the views! Highly recommend the burger and the cheesy garlic bread.

Lovely location and building. Let down by the poor service. The staff didnt give of a warm welcoming vibe and neither were they very attentive. This place could easily be alot more than what it is. Would reccomend for a quick drink but far nicer places to eat.

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! The hotel was easy to find, had its own parking and was located in the middle of down with everything on your doorstep. We were greeted by a lovely man who explained all the COVID safety measures and made us feel welcome from the start. The rooms were modern and clean and had a beautiful view of the lake. The following morning we had breakfast (which was included) which was really nice and the staff there were also amazing. Over all I could truly not recommend the hotel enough as I could not find any fault with our stay!

A warm and inviting B&B, we had a lovely weekend stay and the hosts were great. They helped with anything we needed, the room was lovely and the view was great. The breakfast was very generous and amazing quality, we will definitely be back and recommend to any looking to stay near the lake.

Arrived early morning(9:30am)so we could make the most of our time there. Asked if we was ok to leave car there until check in time. Was greeted by a lovely lady who said we was welcome to check in then as our room was ready. We had a standard double room (room8) and it was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent, had lots to chose from and the staff serving the breakfast was polite and nothing too much trouble at all. The hotel is in a great location, close to shops and lake. Had a lovely overnight stay there and would recommend highly. If we are ever visiting the area again we will be sure to stay here.

Had a lovely weekend at oakbank . We stayed in room 14 and loved the fact that it was outside of the main house. The only issue was the lighting. The room is quite dark with the only natural light coming from the glass paneled door. Could I suggest a brighter bulb or maybe a couple of bedside lamps. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice of items. Will definitely return.

Great, central position in Bowness....BUT....AVOID ROOM 1!!! We stayed for 3 nights....definitely NOT worth £110 a night! The en-suite was small and awkwardly laid out, we burnt our knees on the towel rail when sat on the toilet! It was also quite dirty, the dust and webs covering the whole length of the shower pull cord. The bed was small, but we knew it would be with it being a double room. The mattress was very uncomfortable so we decided to turn it over. BIG mistake as it was very stained on both sides. On the second day I made the mistake of laying on the floor to look for an item that had fallen off the bedside cabinet (cabinet was broken and everything rolled off it.) The carpet absolutely stunk, and to my horror there was the BIGGEST ball of human hair behind the chair I'd ever seen! Looks like it had been there a while....clearly the chair hadn't been pulled out to clean behind recently. The glass was broken on the window and sellotaped up, not the best look for a place of such good reputation. I gashed my arm whilst in the shower, the soap dispenser had VERY sharp edges. I informed a member of staff who immediately got the manager (Danny) but he didn't seem too interested and seemed to think it was my own fault when I showed him the problem. He gave me a plaster but never mentioned it again throughout our stay, never asking if my arm was ok. Pretty bad customer service. A totally different experience from when we stayed in 2015 where nothing was too much trouble and cleanliness seemed to be of a much higher standard. On a positive note....breakfast was delicious and GREAT views from the dining room. We won't be staying again unfortunately.

Lovely people and a proper lake view from our bedroom window. Room was clean and looked to have been recently refurbished probably during covid lockdown earlier this year. Excellent breakfast and a good night sleep on a decent bed. Good location with a number of restaurants a short walk away and only a few minutes walk away from the lake. Highly recommended for a break if you don't want a big chain hotel.

We visited Vinegar Jones and were impressed from start to finish. Between us we had fish and chips, battered sausage and chips, pie and chips, and fishcake and chips. Every meal was freshly cooked, piping hot, and so tasty. The fish was perfectly flaky with light, crisp batter, the chips were golden and crunchy on the outside with a soft centre, with good portion sizes. The menu looks good for vegetarian and coeliac options too. The shop itself was spotless, which is always a big plus, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier – really welcoming and happy to help. It made the whole visit a pleasure. A proper traditional chippy done right – great food, great service, and excellent value. We’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend to anyone in the area looking for a top-quality fish and chip shop!

If I could give it less than a 1 star review I would. Awfully small portions, rude staff and overall shockingly unwelcome atmosphere. We bought the small fish and chips and it was one small fish portion chopped in half. Didn’t look anything like the pictures. Will not be coming here again, avoid!

Lovely portion of fish (haddock) and chips. Fish wasn’t cooked to order so was held in the hot hold. Fish and chips were tasty. Batter on the fish not too thick or crispy. If you require ketchup it’s 60p a go. Inside eating area closed but 2 or 3 tables that seat two people outside along the main road.

They literally served cold fish and chips. Didnt make fresh one. Tasted really bad. I told them its cold and not fresh. They didnt replace or give the fresh ones. Honestly i was not expecting this. Expensive and bad.

Chips and cheese apparently regular £5-50. Picture shows how big that is. £8-50 for the pie and chips. I get costs are up and it's a tourist place but this isn't worth it at all anymore. Shame as used to love it here.

Sadly overpriced and undercooked following a long wait. The quality of the food was poor and didn’t match the high price. Bowness used to be a fabulous place but I don’t think we’ll be back for a long time. Prices are hiked up (nearly £ 30 for two meals from here), customer service has declined, and crowding of the village is becoming an issue. We didn’t enjoy being there and didn’t enjoy this food experience either.

We called up to place an order and were told it would be ready in 10–15 minutes. When we arrived just over 15 minutes later, it was clear they hadn’t actually started our order until we turned up and paid. The staff were polite and friendly, and the place itself was spotlessly clean, but unfortunately the food just wasn’t great. The fish looked and tasted like it had been sat for a while, the batter was soft and soggy, the fish inside was dry and only lukewarm. The gravy was so thick it was almost jelly-like, and the pies, while packed with meat, didn’t seem to have any sauce or gravy inside at all. Price-wise it’s on the steep side, but I suppose that’s to be expected being right in the centre of town.

Food pretty much as other comments on here, only went in as I had stayed out drinking too long and went past restaurant serving times. Service was ok to be fair guy polite not arrogant. Food was atrocious for £30, only got 1 large chicken kebab, 2 x chips, 1 tiny pepperoni pizza. I live in the North East and that place would be bankrupt in 1 week ! Terrible standard of over priced food, got one crappy little dry pitta bread that looked like it was from a supermarket, chicken was rubbery and bland, hardly any salad, chips were unedible, so hard I would of ended up with a trip to the dentist if hadn't binned them ! Pizza was bang average, chilli sauce was tasteless & asked for garlic sauce, never got it. All in all the pits...normally when your drunk it tastes ok, but not this food...avoid at all costs 🤮! I would rather of eaten a few Ginsters pasties from the 24 hr garage instead, at least would of had some flavour !

It was very average and so expensive! Not much meat considering the price, (6 PIECES OF MEAT FOR £14!) The salad was just an afterthought, with no tomatos, no care went into it. I asked for chillies, and they said they don't have these? Also the garlic mayo was horrible. We're from Wiltshire, and they fill the box up with meat! Usually, Turkish kebabs in any country are good but NOT this one. Avoid!

Had the mixed lamb and donner partner had Donnor and chicken Donnor was nice a bit of the greasy side but still nice Donnor compared to some I’ve had in the past the lamb shish was good so was the chicken only thing I would say was only got one salad between 2 Kebabas and no chilli peppers but overly a solid kebab house

Very rude Staff. Spent more than £50, asked some extra napkins for kids, staff said its finished very rudely. It’s was today at 7:30pm no tissue available? Attention! Takeaway owner, teach your staff how to behave with customers….

Visiting the lakes for a little get away to chill out. Got the zinger burger, been up all night with food poisoning. This place needs to be shut down immediately. Side note, "delivery driver" can't even be arsed to get out his car. Horrendous

Delivery driver stops across the street, he cant be bothered to get out his own car. He makes me walk down the street and passes me my food through the window of his car. Rude and the food is too expensive to tolerate their service. I was a long time customer but I’m not ordering again.

We ordered a Pepperoni Pizza, it was tasty and exactly what we fancied. Staff were friendly. Saw some negative reviews so didn't know what to expect but it was very good!

Final night in Windermere most places were fully booked so we chanced our arm here. Wish we hadn’t. After a 25 minute wait for a burger and a Lamb shish, this is what we found once opened back at our Appartment. No salad on either the burger or the Shish as requested or sauce as requested. The picture provided is actually the Shish 5 pieces of lamb and that’s it. Please take our advice and avoid. At £15 for a burger and the below kebab it’s daylight robbery.

The sitting areas were dirty. It was far from their advertisement of it being fresh - too much grease in comparison to other takeaways in the area. Generous portions, but that's no use when your chips drippinggrease when you bite it. Also, I ordered food and was served after 5 other guys got served who ordered bigger meals after my order. Nevertheless, the pizza itself (basic cheese only) was better than that of Dominoes.

I wish I had checked the reviews. Was in a rush, last minute change of plans as most places were booked out.. worst pizza and kebab I’ve ever had . Peperoni pizza was too soggy and oily . The chicken doner we requested a well done and what we got wasn’t at all as requested . The chilli sauce was the worst . Now doubting if it was fresh .. only positive were the fried .. All in all will not bother trying this place again.. Going back with this one bad experience from Lake District

today we were a big family we tried most of the menu. it was the WORST FOOD we ever had. the chicken shawrma had a bad smell. and it wasn't fresh at all. pizza was oily and not well done. sure i will never try it again. we were searching for any halal restaurant but we were disappointed.

Visited and ordered a 12 inch pizza and a chicken sharwama in a pitta. Pizza was stone baked and taated great. Sharwama was fresh and in a pitta is was lovely. Shop was clean and hygienic, guy working in the takeaway was a gentleman and the food was lovely. People complaining about cost but your in the Lake District, not the curry mile in Manchester. Would 100% recommend and will be returning the next time in in the Lakes.

A really nice shop with good food. Lovely to take the baguettes on our hikes with us! Also the sweetest ladies working there. I would really recommend!

This is the takeaway breakfast bar you need in your life if you're working in the area of bowness or Windermere. The prices are great for the products you get and the ladies that work there never seem to get stressed even when the queue is out of the door. I usually get a bacon baguette which is 3.45 (at the time of this review) and I honestly think that it's the best value for money in the area. There's no seating area and it's purely for take out only. Completely wheelchair accessible but the space inside might feel confined for the user.

Good value takeaway with jacket potatoes, breakfasts and sandwiches

Went just after opening on a Monday morning, only order a sausage butty, with brown sauce . Never going here again. The sausage was the poorest, cheapest quality ever - strange taste and was burnt on the edges. The sausage had been cut along its length and cooked on the hot plate. I had driven to a suitable location to park up and eat or I would have gone back to complain. I would avoid this sandwich shop.

Well I went up to the picnic cabin expecting a nice looking, filling and good quality fried breakfast and I got one flattened egg, the yolk had dried up it. One sausage that was cut up for me like a child's meal. Some burnt bacon but in small pieces. 2 undercooked hash browns. Totally embarrassing. Refund given because I took the meal back and asked if they thought the meal was acceptable. Rude response from the owner. I wouldn't have given that food to a dog. The sausages are of the poorest quality. Photo speaks for its self

Grabbed sandwiches to go for a quick lunch and was not in the slightest disappointed. The baguettes are well filled. I had the BLT and my husband the chicken, bacon and lettuce - both great! Went back the next day for another!

Amazing Food & Service from the Picnic Cabin & why I keep going back regularly for my lunch throughout the week for some more top notch grub which is all reasonably priced. I definitely highly recommend the Picnic Cabin to anyone passing by. They easily deserve a 🔟/🔟 in my opinion! #AlldayLong
