Bodies of Water
Lake Pichola, an artificial freshwater lake in Udaipur, Rajasthan, offers boat rides and is home to several islands with palaces. Built in 1362, it was initially intended to meet the city's water and irrigation needs. The lake has four islands including Arsi villa & Jag Niwas, which houses a small palace and a sanctuary for bird watching.
It’s a very scenic and beautiful lake in Udaipur. One of the must visit places. It is near gangaur ghat and Karni Mata temple. You can also do boating but the cost is 800/- per person. It is near city palace for which the entry is too costly which is not worth it. You can come here to relax but avoid the boat ride and the palace visit, you’re not missing much. It can get crowded during the season. There are multiple shops nearby and chats also. Very peaceful at nights.
Urvashi R — Google review
Lake Pichola is a Royal lake of Udaipur. It’s surrounded by city palace, 5 star hotels and much more. Sunset boating is mesmerising in lake Pichola
Ashutosh B — Google review
Lake Pichola is one of the most beautiful lake in Udaipur. The view of the lake surrounded by palaces and old buildings is simply mesmerizing, especially during sunset. The calm water and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect place to relax and click pictures. The boat ride here is totally worth it - around 15–20 minutes long, giving you a closer look at the City Palace, Lake Palace, and Jag Mandir. The reflections of lights on the lake in the evening are magical. A must-visit spot for anyone exploring Udaipur.
Shivam P — Google review
Nice view from the boat of the whole lake . It is full of beautiful hotels which are built like palaces.
Riya — Google review
Lake Pichola is the heart of Udaipur — calm, romantic, and absolutely stunning! The sunset boat ride is a must-do experience, offering breathtaking views of City Palace, Jag Mandir, and the shimmering lake waters. The reflections at dusk make it feel like a dream. Truly the soul of the “City of Lakes”! 💙✨
Travel S — Google review
Lake Pichola is the crown jewel of Udaipur — a picturesque, man-made freshwater lake that feels like a dream. Built in 1362 AD, it’s surrounded by palaces, temples, ghats, and scenic hills, making it one of the most romantic and iconic places in Rajasthan. --- 🌊 Highlights: Boat Ride Experience: The boat ride (especially at sunset) is magical. It offers stunning views of the City Palace, Jag Mandir, Taj Lake Palace, and the surrounding hills. Palaces on the Water: Jag Mandir – open for visitors with a royal feel. Lake Palace (Taj Hotel) – visible from the boat, known for its heritage charm. Scenic Surroundings: Aravalli hills, old havelis, and historic ghats like Gangaur Ghat add to the lake’s timeless beauty. Best Views: Ambrai Ghat, Lal Ghat, City Palace, and from rooftop cafés. --- ✅ Pros: Mesmerizing views, especially during sunrise and sunset. Peaceful ambiance ideal for couples, families, and photographers. Boat ride is well-organized and gives a full experience. Lots of scenic spots nearby (ghats, temples, cafés). --- ❌ Cons: Boat rides can be a bit pricey (₹400–₹800 depending on type and time). Crowded during weekends and peak tourist season. Limited public seating around the lake. --- 💡 Tips: Sunset boat ride is the best — golden light + cool breeze. Visit Ambrai Ghat for peaceful lake views and evening photography. If on a budget, skip the palace entry and just enjoy the ghats. --- ⭐ Final Verdict: Lake Pichola is the soul of Udaipur — calm, romantic, and regal. Whether you're on a boat gliding over the water or sipping coffee at a lakeside café, this lake promises an unforgettable experience. A must-visit and truly a 5-star destination!
Astik S — Google review
The view is absolutely stunning, and the sunset here is totally worth it! Watching the golden light reflect over the water with the City Palace in the background feels magical. The boat ride is a must-try — calm, scenic, and gives you the best views of the lake and surrounding palaces. It’s a perfect spot to relax, click pictures, and just enjoy the peaceful vibe of the city. A truly unforgettable experience.

Saheliyon ki Bari, a stunning garden in Udaipur, is renowned for its lush greenery, intricate marble art, and enchanting fountains. Built by the Maharana for the royal ladies of Mewar, it features four water pools, marble elephants, kiosks, and fountains. The garden also houses a museum displaying household items and pets of the residents.
Saheliyon ki Badi is a charming and peaceful garden in Udaipur, known for its lush greenery, elegant fountains, marble pavilions, and historical charm. Built by Maharana Sangram Singh for the royal ladies, it’s beautifully maintained and offers a relaxing escape from the city bustle. The fountains and lotus pool add to its serenity, especially in the evening when the lighting enhances the atmosphere. It’s not a very large place, so you can explore it in about 30–45 minutes, but it’s great for photos and a quiet stroll. Entry fees are reasonable, and it’s best visited early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and crowds. Overall, Saheliyon ki Badi is a must-visit if you enjoy history, nature, and tranquil beauty — a perfect blend of Udaipur’s royal elegance and natural charm.
Jignesh K — Google review
Visited this garden in Udaipur, entry ticket is ₹30 per person. It’s nicely maintained with clean toilets and even fresh drinking water available at the entry, which is great. The garden itself is good, but since I went during the daytime, the harsh sun made it difficult to enjoy fully. They definitely need more big trees for shade to make the experience more comfortable. The only parts I truly loved were the Savan Bhado and Bin Badal Barsat spots inside the garden - those were beautiful!
Akanksha V — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place to visit in Udaipur. The fountains, marble pavilions, and lotus pools are truly mesmerizing. The garden is clean, well-maintained, and full of greenery that gives a calm and refreshing vibe. It’s a perfect spot for photography and to relax for a while away from the city noise. Gardens are huge in size, and you can even play many games when visiting with a big group of family or friends. The water fountains still work perfectly, adding charm to the atmosphere. A must-visit place for anyone coming to Udaipur.
Shivam P — Google review
Saheliyon Ki Bari is a decent place to visit if you have some extra time in Udaipur. Personally, I didn’t find anything particularly special about it, but it’s a calm and pleasant spot to walk around. You can easily spend 1–2 hours here, so it’s worth a quick visit if your schedule allows.
Parth B — Google review
I recently visited Saheliyon ki Bari in Udaipur, and it truly felt like stepping into a peaceful royal garden from another era. The moment you enter, the sound of flowing fountains and the sight of lush greenery instantly calm your mind. Built by Maharana Sangram Singh for the royal ladies, this garden still carries that graceful charm of the past — where queens and their companions once spent leisurely moments surrounded by beauty and nature. The marble fountains, lotus pools, and beautifully carved pavilions make it a photographer’s delight. I visited in the evening, and the golden light falling over the fountains made everything look magical. The garden is well-maintained and clean, with colorful flowers adding to its charm. What I loved most was the serenity — despite being a popular tourist spot, it still feels peaceful if you find a quiet corner. There’s also a small museum inside that displays old royal artifacts, adding a touch of history to your visit. It’s not just a garden, but a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the Mewar royalty. If you’re visiting Udaipur, Saheliyon ki Bari is a must-see — a perfect place to relax, take beautiful pictures, and enjoy a moment of calm amid nature and history.
Yawer K — Google review
A great garden and super fountains for all seasons. Decently priced entrance ticket of Rs 30. Don't just see the fountains but also notice the gardens and oxygen rich trees and plantation. A good place to just sit and admire the queen's garden and enjoy the sprinkle of water..
Sumit G — Google review
I visited Sahelion ki Bari yesterday and it was good. The garden was built for the entertainment of Royal family and has multiple fountains and sprinkles spread across the gardens and many hard wearing plants as well. Entry to the gardens cost INR150 for foreigners and tickets can be bought at the gate.
Sanka I — Google review
Saheliyon Ki Bari, or the "Garden of the Maidens," is a truly enchanting escape from the bustling streets of Udaipur. Built by Maharana Sangram Singh in the 18th century for the royal ladies, this historic garden is famous for its intricate design, lush greenery, and, most notably, its captivating fountain systems. It’s not just a garden; it’s a beautiful testament to the artistry and relaxation enjoyed by Rajput royalty.

Jagdish Temple is a significant Hindu temple in Udaipur, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The 16th-century structure showcases intricate carvings depicting ancient Hindu legends. Visitors can witness spiritual ceremonies conducted by Brahmins and devotees inside the temple. While entrance is free, donations are welcomed. Another notable temple in Udaipur is Mahakaleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and located along the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake.
The Jagdish temple is a marvel - one climbs the steep steps to the initial courtyard and a lovely chap looks after your shoes for no more than 50R I think. We saw Ganesha first and walked round and then entered the Temple were devotees were chanting. The atmosphere was laid back and chill.
Cas A — Google review
Great temple. Wondeful architecture. So much positive vibes in the temple. One of the best places i visited in udaipur. Its in the heart of the old city.
Bharath S — Google review
The temple’s stunning architecture, detailed carvings, and peaceful atmosphere make it a must-visit. As soon as you enter, you can feel the spiritual energy and calmness around. The chants, bells, and devotion of people create a truly soulful experience. It’s located right in the heart of the city, near City Palace, so it’s easy to visit while exploring the area. Whether you go for worship or just to admire the ancient architecture, Jagdish Temple will surely leave you feeling blessed and peaceful.
Mehul B — Google review
One of the most beautiful temples in Rajasthan and very peaceful place of worship. The temple is located close to Udaipur City Palace and in the old town which can be accessed by bikes and tuk-tuks. Entry to the temple is free but you can decide to donate to the temples upkeep at the gate. Shoes aren't allowed inside (even in bags) so you have to leave at the lockers. A must visit place in Udaipur.
Sanka I — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful temple with amazing architecture and a very calm atmosphere. The place feels truly spiritual, but the roads around it are very narrow, only one car can pass at a time, so it’s better to park your car near City Palace or anywhere outside the old city area. The stairs are quite high, so if you have leg or knee pain, it’s better to avoid climbing. Overall, a lovely temple to visit and take blessings.
Kunj P — Google review
Beautiful temple and what a beautiful architecture and carvings. When we will arrived. There are plenty of people are singing a aarti and bhajans there. I love there songs. What a beautiful environment. Just amazing! Must visite this temple.
Ankit B — Google review
Visited during Diwali, and the temple looked absolutely beautiful with all the lights and decorations. The atmosphere was very spiritual and peaceful, filled with chants and festive energy. The architecture is ancient and impressive, with detailed carvings and a grand structure that truly reflects Udaipur’s rich heritage. The lighting during the festival made it even more stunning. A must-visit place in Udaipur for anyone who loves history, culture, and divine vibes.
Raja D — Google review
Absolutely divine experience! Jagdish Temple is one of the most peaceful and spiritually uplifting places in Udaipur. The intricate carvings and stunning architecture show the true glory of Mewar’s heritage. The positive energy here is beyond words — the chants, the fragrance of incense, and the devotion all around make it a soul-soothing experience. Located right in the heart of the old city near City Palace, it’s easy to visit while exploring Udaipur’s main attractions. Early morning or evening aarti is truly mesmerizing — the sound of bells and bhajans fills the entire area with divine vibes. Clean, well-maintained, and managed by friendly priests. A must-visit spot for anyone coming to Udaipur — whether for devotion, culture, or photography. 🌸

Fateh Sagar Lake, constructed in 1678 and later remodeled, is a renowned artificial lake in Udaipur. Spanning about 2.5 kilometers, it boasts three islands - one featuring water-jet fountains, another housing the Udaipur Solar Observatory, and the third hosting Nehru Park with a small zoo. The lake offers boat rides at affordable rates and serves as an important tourist attraction in Rajasthan's tourism landscape.
A peaceful and scenic lake perfect for boating and sunset views. Multiple food stalls nearby offer local snacks like kulhad coffee. Nehru island is a fun boat ride away—great for families and couples!
Ajay V — Google review
Fatehsagar Lake is undoubtedly one of the most scenic and peaceful spots in Udaipur. Surrounded by the majestic Aravalli hills, the lake offers breathtaking views, especially during sunrise and sunset. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or just someone looking to unwind, this place won’t disappoint. The walking path along the lake is clean and lively, lined with small food stalls and cafés that serve everything from spicy street snacks to refreshing kulhad coffee. Boating on the lake is a must-do activity—whether you choose a simple paddle boat or a speedboat, the ride gives you stunning panoramic views of the city and nearby islands, like Nehru Park, which is perfect for a short excursion. Despite being popular, it never feels overwhelmingly crowded, and there's a calm charm to the entire atmosphere. It’s well-maintained, easily accessible from the city center, and safe for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

Beautiful ful lakh and very peaceful , we can walk around lakh and enjoy boating till 8 pm in summer. Good hotel around lakh and food stall and restaurant is also good.
Surender S — Google review
Fateh Sagar Lake is a must-visit in Udaipur. Unlike Lake Pichola, it felt more about nature and relaxation than grand palaces, though it still has its own charm with the surrounding Aravalli hills. What I Loved: The Scenic Drive: The journey to the lake itself is beautiful, with the road curving along the waterfront. It's a great place for a leisurely walk or bike ride. Boating Experience: I took a motorboat ride and it was exhilarating. It's a fantastic way to feel the cool breeze and get a different perspective of the islands. Nehru Garden: The boat ride takes you to Nehru Garden on one of the lake's islands. It's a well-maintained, green space perfect for a break, with fountains and a boat-shaped restaurant. The Vibe: Fateh Sagar feels more like a local recreational spot. I saw many people jogging, families picnicking, and couples enjoying the sunset. There's a lot of energy and it's less crowded than the area around Lake Pichola. My Recommendations: Go for a Boat Ride: Don't just admire the lake from the shore. A boat ride, whether a relaxing paddleboat or a thrilling speedboat, is the best way to experience it. Visit in the Evening: The sunset views are absolutely stunning, with the sky changing colors over the hills and water. Walk or Cycle: The road around the lake is ideal for a stroll or a bike ride, and it's a great way to take in all the sights. Fateh Sagar Lake is a beautiful and serene spot that perfectly complements the royal beauty of Udaipur's other attractions.
Abhinav S — Google review
There are many places in Udaipur I liked. But this lake is one of my favourite. If you know the spot then this place is peaceful and amazing.
Ashutosh B — Google review
It’s wonderful experience over there. We have taken the boat and the price is per adult. ₹177 is quite good experience and it’s a big lake a fountain. Also there you can have a good experience for the sunset.
Guru A — Google review
Fateh Sagar Lake is one of those places I can never get tired of visiting. The moment you reach, the calm breeze from the lake and the stunning view of the Aravalli hills instantly make you feel relaxed. It’s truly one of the most beautiful spots in Udaipur to just unwind and enjoy nature. I usually visit in the evenings when the weather is pleasant and the lake looks absolutely magical under the sunset sky. The walkway around the lake is clean and perfect for a long stroll, and there are benches placed all along where you can sit and soak in the view. What I love most — apart from the beauty — is the amazing food stalls along the lake. You’ll find everything from crispy sandwiches, maggi, bhutta (corn), pav bhaji, kulhad coffee, and cold coffee to freshly made vada pav and ice creams. The smell of food, the sound of people chatting, and the view of the lake together create such a lively and happy atmosphere. My personal favorite is enjoying kulhad coffee and hot bread pakoras while watching the boats glide across the water. The boat rides are another highlight. I took one recently, and the view from the middle of the lake was breathtaking — you can see the entire shoreline, the fountains, and the green hills surrounding the water. It’s especially beautiful around sunset. Even though it gets a bit crowded in the evenings, that’s part of the charm — families, couples, tourists, and locals all enjoying together. The whole place feels vibrant yet peaceful. Fateh Sagar Lake is truly the soul of Udaipur — scenic, lively, and full of flavor in every sense. If you’re in the city, make sure you spend a few hours here, try the street food, take a boat ride, and just enjoy the calm beauty around you.
Gaurav B — Google review
One of the most scenic & peaceful places in Udaipur. The boat ride experience is beautiful & the area is easily walkable. The lights after sunset is soo pretty and romantic. Just one thing, they have horses and camels at certain spots of this area for visitors to hop on and ride. It was quite smelly around such spots and had to be extra careful not to step on the poo. It was quite inconvenient and ruins a beautiful walk around. Still, this is one of the most beautiful places to see in Udaipur. Recommended to visit for sunset and walk around after sunset.

Ambrai Ghat is a picturesque spot located on the banks of Lake Pichola, offering stunning views of the surrounding palaces and hotels. It's a popular place to capture beautiful sunset scenes and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the ghat, feel the refreshing breeze, and admire the splendor of Lake Pichola. The area is also known for its photogenic appeal, making it an ideal location for photo shoots without breaking the bank.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Ambrai Ghat – A Breathtaking Viewpoint You Shouldn’t Miss in Udaipur Ambrai Ghat is truly one of the most magical spots in Udaipur! From here, you get a panoramic view of the majestic City Palace, shimmering Lake Pichola, and the stunning reflections of the palaces, ghats, and heritage buildings across the water. It’s the perfect place to take in the royal beauty of the city—all in one frame. I first visited during the day and was mesmerized by the peaceful vibes, the cool breeze from the lake, and the sound of temple bells in the background. There are several small temples around the ghat, adding a spiritual and serene charm to the area. The walk to Ambrai Ghat from Gangaur Ghat is an experience in itself. You cross a lovely walking bridge decorated with beautiful poles and lamps, offering picturesque views along the way. It feels like walking through a postcard scene. Later at night, I went back hoping to catch the palace beautifully lit up—but the main entrance to the ghat was closed. However, I found a perfect alternative: you can still enjoy the same mesmerizing night view by entering through the Ambrai Ghat Restaurant. The restaurant offers direct access to the lakefront with the same iconic view—ideal for dinner with a royal backdrop. If you’re visiting Udaipur, Ambrai Ghat is a must-see. Whether it’s for the peaceful morning lake view or the sparkling lights of the City Palace at night, it’s an unforgettable experience. Don’t miss it—walk, sit, click photos, or just breathe in the charm of Udaipur from this beautiful spot.
Vishvam D — Google review
Such a beautiful, cozy place to sit, relax and watch the sunset. It offers stunning views of City Palace, Taj hotel, and a grand 180 degree view of Picchola Lake. It gets crowded in the evening as a lot of tourists visit for the sunset views, so better to go a bit early. The entrance to the ghat is very narrow and during peak hours it is very troublesome to cross the metal gate in busy crowds.
Shambhavi J — Google review
There are only few seats at the ghat. Keep that in mind. On weekends or events, it's going to be packed and you might not get a place to sit. The access to water is in front of the temple, feel free to get your feet wet over there. At evening the fountains turn on, the city lights up and you get a beautiful view of the palace and city as the temple bells ring for aarti. It's a serene sight and I recommend it to everyone. Just make sure you get the timings right. On a side note: there's hanuman Ji's aarti on Saturday evenings. Ghats have to be vacated for that and you can attend the aarti in both hanuman mandir and vishnu mandir. I do recommend that you do. Have fun✌️
Lonerider2881 — Google review
Great evening experience. It has a 800 year old temple and the sunset view are mesmerising. We can have a view of lake pic hola, Taj hotel boat rides and the city place in front. The hotels are walkable and are great option for dinner after the sunset.
Subrat S — Google review
Calm, amazing and very beautiful place for your evening in Udaipur. Go to the time of sunset or at golden hour. View of palace is amazing from the ghat.
Ashutosh B — Google review
We visited Ambrai Ghat late in the evening on a weekday, and it was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. There was ample space to sit and enjoy the calm surroundings without any rush. The city was lit up with lights reflecting over the lake, and the sound of water gently hitting the shores made it even more serene. The view was absolutely stunning we sat there for a while just soaking it all in and truly enjoyed it to the fullest. A small tip: on weekends or during sunset, the place gets super crowded and it’s quite hard to find a spot to sit. But if you go on a weekday, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy Udaipur’s calm evening vibes.
Samrudhi R — Google review
Great place especially when you visit in evenings. You can have views of Oberoi Uday Vilas Palace, Lake Palace and Gangaur ghat situated around Lake Pichola(Udaipur) Only issue is the road that leads to the ghat, It is too congested that if try to go on weekends or on public holidays you will have to conquer heavy traffic and huge crowd.
Ravi S — Google review
One of the best place to visit in Udaipur. Loved the place, it's very peaceful and silent, perfect if you want some break from the city noise. The cool wind keeps blowing and makes it even more refreshing. The view from here is just amazing, you can see the lake, Udaipur palace, Taj hotel and lots of mountains around. I spend almost an hour just sitting and enjoying the view.

Best place to get an bird eye view of whole city with lakes but here is a catch as well, only try to visit it only in cloudy weather or in monsoon time. Otherwise you'll get a lot of tan 😅

We had an excellent experience at Sajjan Garh Biological Park! Located near the famous Sajjangarh Fort (Monsoon Palace), the park is very well maintained and surrounded by lush greenery, offering a refreshing escape from the city. The park features a variety of animals and birds — including tigers, lions, leopards, bears, deer, and few other species. The walking paths are well marked, and for those who prefer not to walk long distances, battery-operated vehicles are conveniently available. The backdrop of the Aravalli Hills and Sajjangarh Fort adds to the beauty and makes for great photo opportunities. Overall, it’s a peaceful and educational experience for both adults and kids - definitely worth adding to your Udaipur itinerary!

A highly rewarding scenic experience nestled in the Aravalli hills. This is a well-kept establishment with professional staff and good amenities. Entry is ticketed, and UPI payment is accepted. Allow a full 60 to 80 minutes to walk the entire park circuit. Paid electric carts are also available. The cleaner air, natural scents, and the hilly expanse simply win you over. Be prepared for hordes of school children visitors even on a typical weekday. I found multiple restrooms and waste bins spread throughout the walking circuit. I would rate the animal residents as 'above average,' and they appear to be kept in very good condition. A must-visit site if you are seeking an 'off-beat' experience near Udaipur.
Karan S — Google review
We enjoyed our visit here. The park has quite a few animals like tiger, lion, leopard, wolf, hyena, Himalayan black bear and more. They have kept the place animal-friendly, so many of them just relax in the bushes. We were lucky to catch a close look at a tiger and a sambar deer. The black bear was the funniest, walking the same path again and again like it was doing its own exercise routine. The crowd was very manageable, and you can walk comfortably. They also have electric carts for those who don’t want to walk much — but that has separate charges (around ₹200 extra). Entry ticket is very nominal — around ₹40-50 — so no complaints there. Morning or evening is a better time to visit when it’s cooler and the animals are more active. Overall, a decent spot to spend a few hours and enjoy wildlife.

The City Palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan is a sprawling complex that houses the palaces of 11 different rulers. It stands tall above Lake Pichola and offers stunning lakeside views. The palace boasts a facade that stretches almost 250 meters in length and rises over 30 meters in height. Visitors can enter through the Baripol Gate or the Tripolia Gate, both dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
A Majestic Blend of History, Architecture & Lake Views! Our visit to City Palace, Udaipur was an unforgettable experience! This grand palace perfectly showcases the royal heritage of Mewar and offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s glorious past. The architecture is stunning - a beautiful mix of Rajasthani and Mughal styles, with intricate carvings, mirrored walls, and colorful murals that reflect the craftsmanship of that era. The museum inside the palace is very well curated, displaying royal artifacts, weapons, paintings, and vintage photographs that bring history to life. From the balconies and terraces, you get breathtaking views of Lake Pichola, Jag Mandir, and the surrounding Aravalli hills - perfect for photography enthusiasts. The entire complex is well maintained and organized. Local guides are available, which add great context to what you see. It’s best to visit early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowd and enjoy the golden light for photos. A small tip: wear comfortable shoes, as there’s quite a bit of walking and a few steep sections. The ticket price is reasonable considering the scale and preservation of the site. Overall, City Palace is a must-visit landmark in Udaipur - a perfect combination of history, art, and scenic beauty that truly lives up to its royal reputation!

City Palace in Udaipur is the largest palace in Rajasthan and an absolute must-visit for history lovers and travelers alike. The palace showcases stunning Rajput architecture, with intricate courtyards, balconies, and museums that take you back in time. I’d recommend visiting in the morning when it’s less crowded and you can really soak in the beauty of the place. If you’re a student, don’t forget to carry your ID card — you’ll get your entry ticket at half price, which is a big plus! Since the palace is massive, whether you take a guide depends on your preference. If you’re short on time (around 1 hour), a guide will help you cover the main highlights quickly. But if you enjoy exploring at your own pace, I’d suggest skipping the guide and wandering freely — there’s so much to discover. One important tip: avoid parking your car at the City Palace parking lot. They charge around ₹350, which is quite steep. Instead, use the nearby government parking areas around the palace — much more economical. Overall, City Palace is not just a monument, but an experience of Udaipur’s royal heritage. Definitely worth the visit!

We visited the City Palace museum while in Udaipur and it was fabulous. The historic palace facing Lake Pichola and the city on the other is the largest palace is Rajasthan and was home to many rulers. Walking through the palace tour, you get to witness the grand architecture and the luxury the palace had offered to many maharajas who lived here. It is a definite must see if you're in the area. The tour takes a few hours and tickets cost INR450 and is open till late. Highly recommended!

This is the most beautiful place I've ever visited! The dynamic environment is captivating, and the art on the walls is stunning. Every aspect of the architecture speaks to the rich history of our culture, lifestyle, and heritage. I'm mesmerized by the remnants of our great dynasties and proud to be a part of the soil that bred such brave warriors.

This is a must see while visiting Udaipur. The palace is really nice to see on the inside. There are plenty of rooms which you can visit and also a museum of artifacts. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to visit this place in full. I would highly recommend you arrive for opening time at 9:00 am as it gets busy very quickly. The entrance fee is 400 Rupees per person which gives access to the palace rooms, museum and courtyards. You should not be charged separately to see the Crystal Rooms as some online articles report separate fees for this. That is a total scam. The fee for entry allows access to all areas of the palace inside. The only small print the website does not tell you is when you exit the palace on the lake side you must pay 50 Rupees to exit and another 800 Rupees to get the boat on lake side. I would not recommend you exit the palace on the lake side as it costs much more and the lake itself is not that great to see. I would advise you enter the palace from two gates but do not exit on lake side. There are toilet facilities on the grounds and minimal shops to buy drinks. Overall the palace is worth it to see for the entry price but again arrive early to get the best photographs and videos. The tickets can be purchased at the counter but they only accept cash at the counter and not cards.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This palace is absolutely magnificent! The architecture, the detailing, and the royal atmosphere make it one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Every corner tells a story of Udaipur’s rich history and culture. The views of Lake Pichola from the palace are breathtaking, especially during sunset. The maintenance is excellent, and the staff is very helpful and courteous. I truly loved visiting this place — it’s amazing, elegant, and full of heritage charm. A perfect destination for history lovers, photographers, and anyone who appreciates beauty and peace. I would definitely love to visit again! 💫

This is the must visit place in Udaipur. You need to get tickets at entrance. You can just see the palace from outside or take a ticket for inside tour. Lake Pichhola is just at the back of the palace , so you can straight away walk to the lakeside after seeing palace. Plan to go at the evening as the sunset view is awesome. Boating ticket counter closes at 5pm. Just enjoy here the Royal architecture of palace!!!

Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, also known as Monsoon Mahal, is a stunning white marble palace perched on a high hill in Udaipur. Built by Maharana Sajjan Singh of the Mewar Dynasty, this palace offers breathtaking panoramic views of Fatehsagar Lake and the surrounding countryside.
I visited the Monsoon Palace in Udaipur yesterday and it was great. This is located around 20mins from the city centre and easily accessible using taxis. Entry for foreigners cost INR560 + parking for car on the top cost INR360 and must be bought at the gate. The mountain top location provides amazing views over the lakes and Udaipur which was one of the reasons for the visit. The fort palace is beautiful, well preserved but smaller compared to forts like Amer fort and also hosts a museum. It was a quiet and peaceful visit, highly recommended!
Sanka I — Google review
So I visited the Monsoon Palace recently, and honestly, it’s one of those places that’s more about the view than the palace itself. It’s located on a high hill a bit outside the main city, and once you reach the top, you can literally see all of Udaipur — the lakes, City Palace, and everything else. The view is amazing, especially around sunset or during monsoon when it’s cloudy. Getting there is a bit of a ride though. The road is quite steep and curvy, and it takes around 15–25 minutes to reach the top if you’re going by car or scooty. The entry fee is ₹170 per person, and they also charge ₹300 for cars and ₹70 for two-wheelers. There’s a cab service from the base too, around ₹120 per person if you don’t want to drive up yourself. Once you’re at the top, there’s a small parking area, and you have to walk for about 5 minutes to reach the palace. There’s a small café near the palace that sells basic snacks like samosas, puffs, tea, and cold drinks — nothing fancy but it’s good enough if you just want a quick bite or some water. The palace itself is okay-ish, not very grand or well-maintained, but that’s not really the main attraction. The views from up there totally steal the show. You can see the whole city spread out below — it’s especially beautiful during sunset. Overall, I’d say it’s worth going once, mainly for the views and the drive. Don’t expect a super fancy palace, but if you enjoy scenic spots, it’s a nice little trip.
Ravi J — Google review
The place is beautiful but the tickets rates have gone up. It's around 170-200 per person for Indians + vehicle charges that are close to 200rs. The road features steap curves so keep that in mind if you're taking your vehicle to the top. 'Museum' is little tbh. There's nothing much to see there, it's mostly a good place for a beautiful garden that features the view of the entire city. You can also go to the edge and see the beautiful aravali range as the sun sets. Keep in mind this place is a famous tourist spot and will get very crowded at evenings and weekends. Sometimes the crowd will make it difficult for you to enjoy the view from the top. If you're here for sunsets on a weekend and getting disturbed by the crowd, I suggest you walk down to the cafe at the very entrance of the palace. It's nothing too fancy but it's a few chairs in the garden that give you a free view of the sunset. You can also stop before reaching the palace. There's a spot few hundred meters before the palace that gives you a clear view with little to no crowd. Overall its a good place to visit especially during monsoons 🍻
Lonerider2881 — Google review
beautiful spot with one of the best sunset views in Udaipur. The drive up the hill is scenic, and once you reach the top, you get a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, lakes, and surrounding hills. It’s especially nice during or after monsoon when everything looks green and fresh. On the downside, there isn’t much to see inside the palace — it’s more about the view than the structure itself. The entry fee plus vehicle charge can feel a bit high, and the road uphill is narrow, so it’s better to go with a local driver. Also, there’s limited food or water available at the top, so carrying your own bottle is a good idea. Overall, it’s a great place for sunset lovers and photography, but go mainly for the view, not the palace interiors.

Breathtaking Views and Royal Charm Above the Aravallis! Our visit to Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh Fort) was truly memorable! Perched high on a hilltop, the palace offers one of the best panoramic views of Udaipur city, Fateh Sagar Lake, and the surrounding Aravalli Hills. The palace itself has a simple yet elegant architecture that reflects royal charm and history. Though the interiors are minimal, the real highlight is the location and the spectacular scenery it offers in every direction. The ride to the top can be steep and narrow at places, but the view at the end makes it all worthwhile. There’s also a small café and a few viewing points where you can relax and enjoy the cool breeze. Entry tickets are reasonably priced, and parking is available near the base. A tip: Visit in the late afternoon to enjoy the sunset views. Overall, Monsoon Palace is a must-visit attraction in Udaipur for its serene atmosphere, stunning vistas, and a glimpse into royal history. A perfect spot for photographers, couples, family and anyone who loves nature and scenic views!

The monsoon palace was truly beautiful, offering a breathtaking view. The sunset from there was particularly stunning, painting the sky with vibrant colors. It's understandable that it can get a little crowded, given its popularity. The entry fee of Rs. 175 seems reasonable for such an experience. Overall, it was a memorable place to visit.

Monsoon Palace is a beautiful spot in Udaipur, offering stunning panoramic views of the city and surrounding hills, especially during sunset. It’s definitely worth visiting if you have the time. However, make sure to reach at least 1–2 hours early to account for ticket queues and taxi waiting times, as the place can get quite crowded. While it’s a nice experience overall, I’d recommend keeping it as a lower priority in your Udaipur itinerary if you’re short on time.

Gangaur Ghat, located on the edge of Lake Pichola in Udaipur, is a popular destination for cultural and religious processions. It is particularly vibrant during the Gangaur Festival in March or April, when local women celebrate with traditional processions starting from the City Palace, featuring folk performances, chariots, bullock carts, and palanquins. The ghat's serene surroundings make it a picturesque spot for pre-wedding photoshoots.
We visited Gangaur Ghat in the late Sunday evening, and the view after sunset was truly beautiful, with the calm waters reflecting the city lights. The approach through the narrow lanes adds a touch of charm and makes the journey feel like an exploration of the old city. Once you reach, the ghat offers a peaceful ambiance where you can sit, relax, and soak in the atmosphere. It’s a wonderful place to spend quality time with family, watch the boats pass by, and enjoy the blend of heritage and serenity that the ghat is known for. The experience feels even more special in the evening when the surroundings become quieter and the beauty of the lake comes alive.

We visited here on a Long weekend and hence the crowd was expected but still not too much crowded. Place is good to have photos with backdrop of Haveli and the Lake. Also you can pay ₹10 to have Corn 🌽 seeds and try luring Pigeons 🐦 and some some photos with them. Apart from this there nothing else you can do here. If not crowded then you might find some peace sitting on the lake side.

Cultural Gem in Udaipur🩵🥰 Gangaur Ghat is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the heart of Udaipur. The experience feels even more special in the evening when the surroundings become quieter and the beauty of the lake comes alive. The vibe here is both spiritual and artistic. You’ll often see locals doing morning prayers, kids feeding pigeons, tourists taking photos, and sometimes even musicians or pre-wedding shoots📸 happening. It’s also a hotspot during festivals like Gangaur and Teej, when the place becomes alive with traditions and colors. Pros: Scenic views of Lake Pichola Close to heritage attractions Great for photography and quiet moments Cons: Can get crowded during peak tourist hours Limited cleanliness at times

Beautiful place with amazing view of sunset. Lot of movies have been shot here. So many cafes are along the shore where you can go to the top and enjoy the view. After this you can go to Ambrighat for amazing light view of the city palace. Lot of small shops around this place for shopping gifts for your friends and family. Only thing to notice is that, this place is very narrow and driving a car can be very difficult. Please try to use public transport or auto

Not so good as suggested by Google. Very crowded, quite dirty and frequented by beggars and hawkers. No great views either. but yhe best thing is seeing the soul stirring aarti after sunset and people floating diyas and candles in the lake water to offer their prayers. It's better to walk upto the wonderful Ambrai ghat which is just a km away with 100 times better views - 100% views of city palace, lake Palace, 180 degree lake views..

Gangaur Ghat is the absolute heart and soul of Udaipur. From the moment you step through the magnificent old archway, you are transported to a place of incredible beauty and vibrant energy. The ghat offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Pichola, with the iconic Lake Palace and Jag Mandir looking like jewels floating on the water. What makes this place so special is its lively yet peaceful atmosphere. The steps leading down to the water are always buzzing with a wonderful mix of locals, travelers, and hundreds of friendly pigeons, creating fantastic photo opportunities. We visited in the late afternoon and stayed to watch the sunset, which was a truly magical experience. The way the changing colors of the sky reflect on the serene lake is something you have to see to believe. It’s the perfect spot to simply sit, relax, and soak in the authentic culture of the city.

This 371-acre artificial pond offers boat tours and is surrounded by lush hills, providing a picturesque setting. The area was once a grazing ground for cows that provided milk to the regal families, hence its name.
This is a small lake right on the side of Pichola. Nothing extraordinary about this place. You can come here in the morning when you've heading for the Sunrise view from the Karni mata temple as it's on the foothills of Karni mata temple. You get the the best pictures with the best view

Very fine place to spent evening time in Udaipur. It is over crowded at pick hours say 6.00pm to 8.30 pm, more chances to stuck traffic jam as there is no parking area or no restrictions from police as Udaipur is tourist place. Public utility is also not available, yes it is there but they locked it. We go there for fresh air but surprised there are smokers making the environment unhealthy and no security is there to punish or direct them to exit.
Pradip S — Google review
It's next to Pichola Lake and has a great historical importance. Size is quite good and surrounding is adorned with several resting shades for the comfort of tourists. All these structures are quite old and delight to see. The colourful lights in the night make the view very nice. However, the state of the pond is disappointing. It needs to be cleaned and maintained. Once it is cleaned and maintained that way, it will generate it's own visitors which will ease the load on Pichola Lake. It's a heritage and should appear that way.

Jagmandir Island Palace, also known as Lake Garden Palace, is a 17th-century island palace located on the tranquil shores of Lake Pichola in Udaipur. This upscale hotel offers stylish dining, stunning lake views, a spa, and a museum. The palace complex features enchanting divisions such as Gul Mahal, Garden Courtyard, Darikhana, Bara Patharon ka Mahal, Zenana Mahal, and Kunwar Pada ka.
We visited Jagmandir Udaipur recently, and it was magical! The boat ride to this island palace on Lake Pichola was scenic, with stunning views of the lake and hills. The palace is gorgeous, with lush gardens and intricate carvings that feel so royal. Wandering the courtyards was peaceful, and the staff shared fascinating history, making it special. The café’s snacks and drinks were delicious, and sipping coffee by the lake was perfect. The only downsides were no elevator, so stairs were tough for my parents, and a small pool area would’ve been nice.

We had a lovely dinner at Darikhana. The food is top notch and so is the ambience. We were taken care by Laksham Meena ji, who made sure he give all the historical information while serving the food with patience and kindness. And also chef made sure to make us try small bites as his compliments. Over all, a lovely experience :)

Jagmandir is a must-visit island in Udaipur and easily one of the city’s most photogenic spots. The place is very well maintained and offers a unique atmosphere—perfect for those looking for memorable photos and a slice of Udaipur’s charm. Although the food is on the expensive side, the overall vibe makes up for it. The boat ride from the city center adds a fun touch to the trip, but be prepared for possible waiting times; in our case, it was a two-hour wait, which was quite disappointing. Still, Jagmandir is absolutely worth seeing if you have some flexibility in your schedule.

I just visited this place bu didn't stay here. This palace offers nice views of city palace and being situated on an island, offers nice views all around. Would be an awesome place to watch sunset from. They do have accommodation but I believe very limited number of rooms though. The lake view restaurant is just great and the food too is pretty good.

To reach Jagmandir Island, you’ll need to take a boat ride across Lake Pichola. Tickets can be purchased either at the City Palace ticket counter or near the lake itself. The ticket prices vary depending on the time of day, with morning rides being cheaper and evening rides slightly costlier. The boat ride takes about 15–20 minutes, offering a beautiful round trip across Lake Pichola before dropping you at the island. Be prepared for long queues, as the waiting time can be 1–2 hours, especially during peak hours. Once on the island, there isn’t much to explore, but it’s a great place to relax, enjoy the peaceful lake views, and walk through the beautiful gardens and old palace-like structures. You can also click great photos with the lake and Udaipur city in the backdrop. There’s a restaurant and café on the island, perfect for grabbing snacks or drinks while enjoying the scenic surroundings. After your visit, you can take a return boat back to the City Palace jetty. Overall, a calm and scenic experience, best enjoyed for its views and atmosphere rather than sightseeing.

Jagmandir Island in Udaipur is a picturesque and historic island palace located in Lake Pichola, known for its serene and royal ambiance. Visitors often praise the beautiful lake views, the tranquil setting surrounded by water, and the pleasant boat ride from City Palace that offers stunning vistas of Udaipur's palaces and forts. The island features lovely palace gardens, an open courtyard with cafes and restaurants, and areas perfect for relaxing and photography. The food and service at the island's restaurants receive mixed reviews—while the ambiance and quality of food are appreciated, the menu is limited, and prices are considered steep by some visitors. Service, particularly at cafes, can be slow, but staff hospitality is generally noted as warm and attentive. The island is a favored spot for a short peaceful visit or an evening boat ride to enjoy sunsets over Lake Pichola.Visitors highlight Jagmandir as a must-visit for its aesthetic appeal and royal charm, though some feel the stay is brief given the cost and scope of activities. It is especially recommended to visit early in the day to avoid crowds and fully enjoy the calm environment.Overall, Jagmandir Island Palace offers a memorable experience combining historical grandeur, scenic beauty, and peacefulness—a perfect getaway for those wanting a royal experience in Udaipur's lake surroundings, despite some areas that could be improved like food variety and service speed

Neel Kamal, located at Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, offers a dining experience that combines authentic Rajasthani cuisine with contemporary European delicacies. The restaurant features an open-air setting and a bar called Amrit Sagar, which serves signature martinis and cocktails. Additionally, J Wellness Circle provides guests with royal pampering through traditional Indian wellness treatments.
Beautiful location, amazing hospitality and delicious food. The exceptional behaviour of staff makes you feel like the king of the palace. To name a few , chef Babu Lal , Vaibhav and restaurant manager Mr. Mahender left no stone unturned to please us. The food was cooked as per our request and served with lots of affection.

We were soooo excited to go to Taj palace in the lake , but ended up being very disappointed. We had to pay in advance about €150 per head which we did . The arrival experience was amazing , very elegant , exciting with a boat ride on the lake , and arriving at this majestic palace . We had a great table with the lake view . But that’s it , the service was very bad , our server pretty rude , having plastic still water on the table not very elegant. The sever would clean the table as soon as one done fished eating by going over our heads to pickup the plate . For serving the wine not even using any thing to clean the drops and at the end we had a big credit left and they just give us a bottle of wine for the amount not even letting us to choose what we want . For a five star palace having a plastic bottle , tissue paper ( not even towels ) in the bathroom , and non professional service is very bad . The food quality was good .

One of the best restaurant to experience dinner, the ambience, the warmth, live music and a scrumptious Rajasthani traditional food all last long in our memories. They have multiple seating arrangements, and offer only dinner experience. Prior recommendation is recommended for seamless experience. The staff took utmost care on hospitality and the requirements. Tasted their traditional non-veg thali, one of the best thali reflecting the authentic mewari cuisine. Thier starters and the desert needs special mention. Highly recommend for an unforgettable dinning in a beautiful palace.

The most delicious Indian meal I've ever had. The pratha here is composed of paper thin layers separated by ghee & baked in an oven. The spice levels in curries can be customised to individual tastes. Everything was perfectly cooked.

Atmosphere is excellent, location/view is great, service does not meet high standards. Our waiter was not professional at all, many incidents happened, last incident was that he was nagging us to leave because its 9pm and the next service starts. Though we paid the bill and just finishing up our tea, so he knows that we are leaving. Six other tables were free so its not a big deal if we leave 10 minutes after 9. Food is ok, i expected it to be better.

I called requesting a reservation to sheesh mahal- Restaurant. This is peak time so I can understand it would not be available as this is new years time. I was however informed that post 5 January, theyd be available by the reservation desk. So, just out of curiosity and to test a theory, I asked for a reservation on 6 January. I was promptly informed that actually they are occupied till 8 January. I then decided to ask them to reserve for 10 January, dinner. I was first told it's available and then I was informed that "let me check. can you provide phone number" I asked them if it's policy to refuse reservation to outsiders and even then, I was left unanswered. if that's policy, a lot of hotels are clear about it and it doesn't create ambiguous angst. right now, I am just annoyed due to jumping hoops. Be clear like Taj that sorry we do not take outside reservations. it's honest and it doesn't create bad feelings towards the brand itself

Sajjangarh Fort, also known as the Monsoon Palace and hunting lodge, offers a fine overall experience with its stunning views of mountains and Udaipur city. The fort is situated at the peak of a mountain and provides breathtaking scenery, especially during sunset. However, visitors recommend going in the evening to avoid fog obstructing the view. While the ticket price may seem high for some, the panoramic vistas make it worthwhile.
Umang T — Google review
Ravi J — Google review
beautiful spot with one of the best sunset views in Udaipur.

"Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh Palace) in Udaipur is breathtaking! The stunning views of the city and lakes from the top are unforgettable. The palace architecture is impressive, and the sunset views are simply spectacular. Google Maps navigation was easy. A must-visit attraction in Udaipur. Highly recommend!"
Inderpreet S — Google review
The palace is situated on a hill top. It would offer a good view of Udaipur City on cloudy or rainy day, otherwise there is nothing to do or see. The entry ticket is costly, also they charge for vechiles(around 340/- for a 4- wheeler). The biological park ticket is separate (43/- per person). There is a small cafeteria which offers few options like tea, coffee, sandwiches, maggie.
Abhishek G — Google review
Absolutely unmissable, especially at sunset! The panoramic view from the Monsoon Palace is, hands down, the best in Udaipur. You can see the entire cityscape, the lakes (Pichola and Fateh Sagar), and the surrounding hills. While the palace itself is historically modest, the location on the hilltop, especially when the light is just right, makes the entire trip worthwhile. Tip: Get there an hour before sunset to secure a good spot and take in the changing colors

Good place monsoon palace 1. Down you get 2 options 2. Botonical zoo u get to see animals take entry ticket and pay for van ride takes about 30-40 minutes dont walk down it will be tiring 3. After coming out take entry ticket for monsoon palace if u have bile or car no problem if you have bus or van u need to take taxi they charge per head 120 rs 4. Palace view is mesmerising just imagine how kings would have enjoyed in palace in monsoon 5. 1-2 hours you can spend and get down 6. 9am-7pm palace timings

The "Floating Palace" Experience Unparalleled Location: The most distinct feature is its location on the natural rock foundation of Jag Niwas island in Lake Pichola. The palace for appear to "float" on the water, offering a serene and mesmerizing atmosphere. The Vibe: It's a former 18th-century royal summer retreat (Jag Niwas) that has been meticulously converted and restored. Sunset Cruise: A complimentary or highly recommended activity is the sunset boat cruise, offering 360-degree views of the palace and the City Palace from the water. The Taj Lake Palace is reviewed as a once-in-a-lifetime destination that perfectly blends historical architecture, world-class luxury, and an unbelievably romantic location. It's often called the "Most Romantic Hotel in the World" and has been recognized with the prestigious Three Michelin Keys, affirming its status as one of the world's most memorable stays.

A magical stay with the most wonderful staff team! We cannot praise the staff at the Taj Lake Palace enough! Never have we experienced such warm and loving care that felt like everything we could possibly need was taken care of! Chef Anop created such amazing food with fresh seasonal ingredients and came to greet us to tell us the stories behind these creations! Mahendra, the kitchen manager kindly took the time to explain so much about his background and how it’s possible to manage iconic preparations like the thali. All the team present at breakfast, lunch and dinner including Vikki and Dinuja made so much effort to ensure we were comfortable during our meals and were on hand for any queries we had even going above and beyond to take some pictures for us! Kajal, the amazing guest relations specialist really got to know us and our travel plans and she coordinated with others behind the scenes to seamlessly support during the surprise proposal and really took care greeting us! Iqbal, our boat guide took us on a wonderful tour around the beautiful pichola lake and really added to our experience! These are a few names but we must say that we feel truly inspired by the manner in which all of the Taj Lake Palace Team conducted themselves. We will leave the Taj Lake Palace admiring how every individual coordinated themselves to fulfil the vision of exemplary guest services and carried such positive, calm and collected energy! Thank you once again, We wish every member of the Taj Family love and best wishes, Amit and Krina Patel

Our experience at the Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur was absolutely magical. The setting on Lake Pichola is breathtaking, but what truly made the stay exceptional was the impeccable service. From the moment we arrived, the team anticipated every need with warmth and grace. A special mention to Gaurav, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless — thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely kind. His hospitality perfectly captured the spirit of the Taj. Every detail, from the beautifully maintained heritage interiors to the serene boat rides and exquisite dining, reflected world-class standards. The Lake Palace is more than a hotel — it’s an experience that stays with you. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Udaipur — worth every moment.
Lam L — Google review
The location is incredible, the grounds are perfectly manicured, and the staff are exceptionally attentive. The restaurant Bhairo is one element here that does not live up to the rest of the hotel. It’s fixed at $150 per person, and the waiter tried to upsell us a $350 bottle of wine (with no sommelier justification - just that “white goes well with fish”). The meal is above average, but comparable to a $60 meal anywhere else in the world. The general taste was monotone. You’re paying for the view, and if dropping $450 at a good-but-not-great dinner doesn’t bother you, go for it. I for one felt ripped off, and it overshadowed what was otherwise a lovely stay. I expected to be ripped off in the streets, but it’s clear the hotel’s whole goal is to part you with as much money as possible, which makes you feel uncomfortable in a place where you’re meant to be relaxed. Some highlights: Cocktails at the bar were delicious. The staff is truly top tier, and I felt pampered. You’ll live like a king for a few days, but also pay like one in every respect.

Ambrai Restaurant, located at Amet Haveli, offers a romantic dining experience with its lakefront venue and stunning views of City Palace. Guests can enjoy traditional dishes such as tandoori aloo nazakat and Daal-Baati-Churma while taking in the breathtaking scenery of Lake Pichola and iconic landmarks like Jag Mandir and Sajjangarh Fort.
We had an absolutely superb meal at the Ambrai restaurant. The service was excellent and it was friendly. It was a Sunday so it was full of domestic tourists and locals enjoying a lazy day. We just had some beers, gins and tonic (they have a very good value (for India) French Chardonnay at 5k. The tandoori chicken was deliciously spiced and we had a selection of breads to soak up the alcohol overlooking the Lake Palace which was simply lovely.

The place has an amazing location and ambience...it has great views of the City Palace and Taj Lake palace...the food is okay, though the staff are not too good and most times they don't seem too interested...the tables adjacent to the lake mostly have a cover charge. The food and drinking options are fine. The place mostly has open seating options for better views.

We had a delicious candle-light dinner here with a scenic view of Lake Pichola with soft live Rajasthani traditional instrumental music in the background. The service was quick. This place has an amazing view and ambience. Located at such a great point near the Ambrai ghat. You get an amazing view of the City Palace and the Taj Lake Palace from here. This place was also quite crowded. It's recommended that one pre-book their slot for the best experience. They charge 2000 per person as a cover charge if you have not booked your slot in advance and you want to experience sitting at the lakeside. The menu is vast, with plenty of options to explore, and their drink selection is equally impressive. I tried their pizzas and drinks and everything is so good. The service was top-notch. making for an overall great experience. Definitely a place worth visiting again and again.
Kinjal B — Google review
We understand that Ambrai is extremely busy right now Udaipur is in peak wedding season, and popular restaurants being fully booked is absolutely expected. That was never the issue. The concern is the way we were spoken to today when we inquired about a table. The staff member’s tone was unexpectedly rude and dismissive, almost as though responding to us itself was a favor. There was no courtesy, no attempt to communicate politely just a very abrupt attitude. Even at places like Taj and Oberoi, where tables are booked out months in advance, the staff maintain warmth, respect, and basic hospitality. That is what creates lasting goodwill. Being busy is understandable; being discourteous is not. Ambrai has a beautiful location and a strong reputation, but experiences like this reflect poorly on the establishment. I sincerely hope the management looks into retraining the front-facing staff. Hospitality begins at the first interaction, not after a guest is seated.

Very nice serene place to hang out with family. It is just on the puchora lake. To reach here can be a challenge, if you just rely on google map and have a self drive car it can be a traffic nightmare.. Better to hire an auto and park your car outside the lake area. We visited this place on Saturday, fortunately we get chance to have dinner here in Night. Almost all seating arrangements are besides lack so you can enjoy the dinner with amazing views. Almost everything we ordered was good, however it is slightly overpriced. It costs us around 5k for three people. Service was extremely poor, most of the time need to call staff 3 4 times for order and for each items each takes average 30 minutes.

Beautiful Atmosphere, But That’s Where It Ends The lakeside location and ambiance of this restaurant are undeniably beautiful – but sadly, that’s the only good thing about it. The food was overall disappointing. I ordered a sandwich for ₹475 – it was just tomato and cucumber, nothing else! Very small quantity, and it took half an hour just to serve that. Total waste of money. The pasta was the only item that tasted good, but again, the quantity was too less for the high price. The service was poor. Staff seemed untrained, had no knowledge of food preparation, and were not attentive at all. This place is clearly overhyped because of its location. There are many other restaurants around with similar views, but with much better food, service, and pricing. Overall – not worth the time or money. Definitely not recommended.

Visited this restaurant for lunch - it’s tucked inside narrow lanes, so best to go by your own vehicle since transport isn’t easily available from there. The place itself is pretty, with a nice location by the lake (though the lake water isn’t very clean). The staff was nice. We tried the biryani and pineapple raita - the food was okay-ish, nothing extraordinary, yet on the expensive side. Still, it’s a good spot to spend your evenings, relaxing by the lake and munching on some food while enjoying the view.

It was a very special occasion for me—my first wedding anniversary and also the first Valentine’s Day of my life on 14th February 2025. I wanted the day to be truly memorable and beautiful. We planned a vacation in Udaipur for our anniversary, and I arranged a surprise dinner for the evening. While shortlisting restaurants online, I came across Tribute Restaurant. The menu looked good, and the location was absolutely beautiful. I found their contact number on Google and gave them a call to book a table. The staff was incredibly helpful with the table décor—exactly as I had shown them in the reference picture. Although we arrived 30 minutes late for our reservation, they still held our table and didn’t give it to anyone else. The staff was extremely polite and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience—the food was delicious and reasonably priced, the service was top-notch, and the ambience was perfect for a special evening. I highly recommend Tribute Restaurant for anyone looking to celebrate something meaningful in Udaipur.

Upre is a lavish Indian restaurant in Udaipur, known for its Imperial-style decor and panoramic rooftop views of Lake Pichola. Specializing in Italian, Mexican, and Chinese cuisines, it offers high-quality food against a dramatic backdrop, making it popular among couples and honeymooners seeking a romantic spot. Perched on the terrace of Lake Pichola Hotel, Upre provides serene and upscale dining with waterfront views and a city panorama.
Had an amazing experience at Upre! ❤️ The staff was extremely lovely and attentive, and the venue itself is just beautiful. Thank you for making my experience so memorable! 😊

Upre as a restaurant is beautiful but food wise just stay away. The kabab platter was not good, the fish was weird the chicken were chewy, only the mutton was ok, lal mash was also not that great. They charge for water bottles as well, 70 rupees per bottle.

In one word- PATHETIC Absolutely Terrible Experience – Not Worth Your Time or Money I dined at this restaurant today, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. From the moment we arrived, the service was shockingly poor. The staff, especially the manager mr. Nagendar singh, if I’m Not wrong, acted like they were doing us a favor by even acknowledging our presence. We were made to wait for 15–20 minutes just to be seated, despite the place not being particularly busy. Once seated, things only got worse. It took another 30 minutes to get our food, and when it finally arrived, it was a complete disappointment. The food tasted like it was made by someone who had never cooked before—completely bland, poorly presented, and honestly, barely edible. It’s clear this place survives purely because of its location. The staff carry an arrogant attitude, as if the customers are beneath them. It’s painfully obvious that they don’t believe in the basic principle that the customer comes first. If you care about quality food, decent service, and not wasting your hard-earned money, do yourself a favor and skip this place. There are plenty of better restaurants out there that actually value their customers.

The restaurant offers a stunning view of Lake Pichola, which really sets the mood for an enjoyable evening. The service was excellent, the staff were attentive, professional, and very polite throughout our visit. The ambience is equally impressive, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. As for the food, it was decent and satisfying. We tried bruschetta, pizza, and pasta, along with tomato soup as appetisers, all well-prepared. The naan was freshly baked. We also sampled four different paneer dishes, and the Chilli Paneer stood out as particularly good. Overall, this place is perfect if you’re looking for great views, excellent service, and a relaxing ambience. The food is good, though not extraordinary, but the complete dining experience makes it worth a visit.

I was there for the hype and the environment. The food and the service seemed OKish!! Or i dont knoe whether I was there on a bad day. View 100% amazing, but food quality and the service was dull. And GEKKOS around the sitting area is BIG NO!!!!

The atmosphere is absolutely calming and royal. Such a beautiful ambience. We ordered Daal fry, Steamed rice and Dhungaar Murgh because we wanted something warm and comforting and Upre definitely served the best! The dhungaar chicken was so homestyle cooked. Loved it!

Such a beautiful café! The ambience is amazing, and the people here are extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help us in so many ways and even made my birthday extra special. The food is absolutely delicious too. If you’re in Udaipur, this place is a must-visit!”

Terrible experience at Upre Restaurant. Food was of very low quality and tasted bad, and the service was equally disappointing despite the place not being crowded. While the atmosphere and location are good, everything else falls flat, would definitely not repeat.

Absolutely wonderful place for peace and great food in Udaipur. The staff were lovely and understood what we were looking for. The menu has excellent range and we went back four times during our short trip. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. It’s been a really memorable part of our trip

Wonderful!! The food was so tasty, especially the desserts. The cheescake was so light and rich. The chocolate tart was not too dense. The ambience was nice and pleasant with the most beautiful view of the lake. Our waiter was very nice and proposed very good food. I would definitely go back for breakfast or lunch.

Amazing restaurant! Fresh homemade pasta & delicious sauces - a welcome change! Gokal was a kind and attentive server, who made our whole experience amazing. 10/10 would recommend as a refreshing taste of home.

Absolutely would recommend! The pasta was delicious, and the view and overall ambiance was great. Going at night, you can see the lights off the city, very pretty. The stairs are extensive to get up to the roof top ( and it kind of feels like a residential building), but in my opinion the stairs are entirely worth it.

The homemade pasta is so delicious that we came back for a second time. We had Indian food for 10 days straight so this was a really welcomed alternative. The service is very good and the views are great. Food is really also really good value for money!

Charcoal By Carlsson is a stylish BBQ eatery in Udaipur known for its wide variety of Indian and continental cuisines. The restaurant offers picturesque views of the Jagmandir Palace and Lake Pichola, making it one of the best places to enjoy a rooftop dinner in the city.
I wish we’d found this place sooner! The food was an amazing meat fest. We had kebabs and satay, gin and tonics and even frozen daiquiris. Everything was made fresh to order. The best peanut satay sauce I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was beautiful. The restaurant does not close at different times of the day, and reservations are not needed, despite some reviews. There is also an elevator.
Bougie T — Google review
Charcoal easily has the best view in Udaipur. With soft music and stunning surroundings, it’s the kind of place where you just want to sit back and soak it all in. However, the food didn’t quite match the ambience. The chicken we had didn’t feel fresh, and unfortunately, we ended up feeling unwell afterward. They do offer a wide variety on the menu, and while our experience wasn’t great, we’d like to believe it might’ve just been a one-off situation. So instead of writing the place off completely, we’d say: try it for the atmosphere, and maybe stick to safer food options. Come here for the view and vibe—it’s worth it for that alone.

Charcoal was an experience in itself. The moment you step on the rooftop, you are taken aback by the excellent views of Lake pichola. Very peaceful, very calm and very instagrammabke vibes. The food was delicious and left us with craving more. The staff was extremely polite and cared for us. Overall, a must visit spot for tourists and Udaipurites.

I love it here. I came back here 3 times of all restaurants in Udaipur. Smoky, well-seasoned bbq. Nice location for the rooftop view. Good vibe, comfy seating and great choice of music. Great staff got everything covered

We went right to the top of Charcoal up a lift to the fourth floor and then up some windy spiral stairs to the top floor. The views were fantastic and service was really lovely. We had gins and tonic and then tandoori chicken which was delicious, seekh kebab which was actually a tad dry with a delicious well spiced dal and roti, garlic nan and paratha all of which were superb. It was a lovely evening with a great view although one of the rooftops relatively close was playing very loud club music!
Cas A — Google review
Pre booked for a group of 14 people, the service was absolutely top notch, almost 0 wait time (just the placement of tables took a small time). The aesthetic was superb in the rooftop, with a beautiful view of the Pichola Lake, along with a really good light setup. The food was really tasty, a tad bit pricey, but really tasty. Same goes for cocktails, felt a bit overpriced but really good mixing and good taste. Special mention for the absolute top service provided

Upre by 1559 AD is a rooftop restaurant located at Hotel Lake Pichola, offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Pichola, Jagmandir Island Palace, and the surrounding hills. The restaurant provides a fusion of Indian and Continental cuisine with popular dishes like Tandoori Chicken and Grilled Fish. Its open-air setting allows diners to enjoy their meals while taking in picturesque views of City Palace, Lake Pichola, and Udaipur city.
Visited 1559 AD near Fateh Sagar Lake recently, and the overall experience was quite good. The ambience is charming and peaceful — perfect for a relaxed meal in Udaipur. The taste of the food was amazing, especially the traditional flavors which were well-prepared and satisfying. It was nice to see that the service has improved, but there’s still some room for better guest hospitality. The food service started early, which we appreciated, but it was left idle midway — this felt a bit out of place and not in line with the warm guest culture one expects here. That said, the setting, food quality, and overall vibe made it a pleasant experience. Would definitely consider visiting again, hoping for more attentive service next time.

If you are looking for good non-veg restaurant near Fateh Sagar Lake its got to be 1559 AD. I tried the laal maas and garlic naan and the taste was top notch. Additional brownie points for a great ambienece and interiors like no other.
Geosley A — Google review
It is a fine dine restaurant, with calm music in the background. People dining peacefully. Atmosphere and ambience was very impressive. They have both indoor as well as outdoor seating. Food was good as well. We order Laal Maas, and galouti kabab. Galouti kebab didn't seem fresh, it seemed it was frozen and reheated. As the whole concept of galavat is it should be so soft that it just melts in mouth. These where not that orginal soft ones. However it didn't taste bad. Laal Maas was amazing as well. Ordered wheat pulka roti, but i doubt it was 100% wheat flour. It seemed to be mix of wheat and maida.

1559 AD, Udaipur: Step into royal Rajasthan at this historic gem near Fateh Sagar Lake! Stunning garden setting with old-world charm, blending Continental, North Indian, and Rajasthani flavors. Loved the fiery Laal Maas and cheesy mushroom momos bursting with spice! Fish & chips were crispy perfection. Daal Baati was okayish (Bati deep-fried, not charcoal-smoked as traditional). Shoutout to server Kamlesh for his warm, attentive vibe! ₹2500 for two; book ahead!

We visited 1559 AD Restaurant in Udaipur for dinner, and it turned out to be a lovely experience. The ambience was really nice, with light folk live music playing in the background, adding a beautiful touch to the evening. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff were friendly and polite. However, the manager did seem a bit rude and arrogant, which was slightly off-putting. We tried Chicken Bhujma, Laal Maas, rice, and roti and all the dishes were absolutely delicious, definitely 10/10 for taste! We also ordered two cocktails Sunset and Gauva Mary. While the Gauva Mary was good, the Sunset drink wasn’t quite to our taste it was a bit too sweet and the mix of pineapple and orange gave us a slight cold. The restaurant has good parking space, and the washrooms were clean, which added to the comfort. Price-wise, it’s a luxury dining place, so the rates are on the higher side, but worth it for the quality of food. Here’s what we ordered: • Laal Maas – ₹600 • Chicken Bhujma – ₹375 • Gauva Mary cocktail – ₹350 • Sunset cocktail – ₹350 • Rice and roti (don’t recall the exact price) Overall, we loved the place and will surely visit again. Giving it 5 stars mainly for the taste of the food the drink and the manager were minor negatives, but easy to overlook given the overall experience.

One of the good places to eat at when in Udaipur. A nice family place. They have a variety of food options in veg and Non Veg. I mostly tried their veg dishes and everything was top notch. Their gatte curry was amazing! When in Udaipur come here for a nice lunch.

We had a really good experience with the food here.everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the service during our meal was nice. However, when we got home and checked the bill more carefully, we realized we had been charged for extra rice that we didn’t order. Unfortunately, we didn’t notice this while paying. It left us a bit disappointed after an otherwise enjoyable meal. Would recommend the food, but I’d suggest double-checking the bill before leaving.

Udaipuri Restaurant is a unique dining spot in Udaipur, offering a purely vegetarian menu that combines Indian, Chinese, and Mediterranean flavors. Situated in the city center, it provides stunning views of Udaipur's attractions. The restaurant boasts a simple yet charming decor and attentive staff. Must-try dishes include Khumb ki Biryani and the Udaipuri starter platter. It's surprising how flavorful and memorable a vegetarian meal can be at this delightful eatery.
Loved the taste. Pander tikka lababdar and dal fry was really tasty. Ambience is good. Pure veg restaurant near shastri chowk. Not over crowded. Service is little slow but offers really tasty food. Well maintained, clean and neat place. Shapes of different animals are created in walls from kitchen utensils which is very creative. Also idol of Lord Ganesha created at billing counter is unique. Very good to visit for smll or large groups. Special Jain preparations also available. Cost wise it is good.

The restaurant is located on shastri circle and is one of the top vegetarian restaurants in the city. The food we ordered was kind of good, the place looked good with some unique decoration. Washroom was dirty af. Hope they improve the cleanliness. We ordered their platter and it was good. Their kandhari kofta dish was pretty average and might visit the place again.

Celebrated my child's birthday here. Initially while booking they promised service and specific starter item but on the day of birthday when guests arrived they denied the service and also mentioned limited quality will be available for starter which means not all guests will be given the starter. Guest count was given in advance and there was no extra guest in the celebration still the manager behaved rudely and denied service.

Ordered online from this restaurant. Sent spoiled and stale paneer ki sabji. Even after telling our concern to the restaurant they paid no attention and didnt address the issue. The paneer was clearly khatta and sada hua and aalu like texture. We all know what bad paneer looks like and tastes like. I ordered for a sick person and if they would have eaten the food they would have gotten food poisoning. The restaurant staff is rude and non responsive. Please friends don't eat here or order for your family and friends.

#review Udaipuri Restaurant which is situated on Shastri Circle Opp. Shastri Sweets is a pure vegetarian restaurant. Visited this place few days back. We ordered - Tomato Soup - Sweet Corn Soup - Udaipuri Starter Platter - Crunchy Corn & Spinach Salt & Pepper - Bhatti ka Paneer Masala - Udaipuri Dal Tadka - Kabuli Masaledar Chole - Jeera Rice - Breads ( Tandoori & Missi) - Papad - Butter Milk Before jumping on food would like to point out that we were the only customer at that time & then customers started coming after 30 minutes. Tomato soup was very thick & was of gravy consistency. Sweet & sour soup was good. Their starter platter is one of my favourite dishes which have 5 types of starter namely Gold Coin, Hara Bhara Kebab Palak Chaat, Spring Roll & a Paneer Tikka. Everything was delicious. Then main course started coming in, i specifically asked our serves as to what to order as we wanted something spicy in paneer so he suggested Bhatti Ka Paneer. It came though the dish was good but it lacked spice & cream made it a bit sweeter though. Then came Dal Tadka which was okay. Then Kabuli Chole which were totally bland neither they were tangy nor spicy just eating chickpeas in some kind of tari. All the breads were good. Restaurant like these which I use to count one of the best for their service & food didn't even get to par. All the dips & chutneys came after everything was finished. Service was very slow considering their were very fewer tables occupied. Our Total Bill Came to INR 2418 but with Zomato Pro we Paid around INR 2000 for it.
Lovish B — Google review
I would have given zero stars if it had an option. Ordered from zomato aloo prantha and cold coffee. No taste of coffee it seems like you are drinking sweetened milk that too of poor quality. No stuffing in prantha only wheat. They didn’t even packed it properly cold coffee spilled out of packing

This place is amazing to vist with family & friends and spend quality time. This is at shastri circle and popular for its north Indian dishes. They have a lot of option in their menu to choose from. We tried paneer tikka, crispy aloo, cheese paneer butter masala, katrani subz jhalfrezi and assorted bread basket. The food was really tasty and scrumptious. They provided quick service which was the best thing. The food was tasty and scrumptious. Recommend this place to visit with family and for vegetarian cuisine.

This upscale dining place is truly a sight to behold, with interiors that evoke a sense of heritage and grandeur. The ambiance is elegant, making it a great spot for special occasions. The food was a highlight, with dishes like the hand tossed items being absolutely delicious. Our pasta and pizza orders were well-executed and flavorful. However, the service was extremely slow, which was a bit frustrating. Additionally, the prices are very expensive, so it's worth considering that before planning a visit. Despite being crowded even on weekdays, we were able to get a table without a prior reservation, which was a pleasant surprise.

I'm absolutely smitten with Poppy! The vibe is spot on, with a full-on heritage feel that transported me to a different era. The food? Absolutely divine! I had the wood-fired pizza, which was nothing short of amazing, and the pasta was equally delicious. Every bite was a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail. But what truly impressed me was the staff - friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. They made sure we felt right at home, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. The combination of heritage vibes, excellent food, and top-notch service makes Poppy a must-visit destination. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a great dining experience, Poppy fits the bill perfectly. Highly recommended!

Though the ambience was lovely, the customer service was really disappointing. It honestly felt like we weren’t welcome. The staff didn’t seem aware of which tables were available, and we had to point out vacant ones ourselves. Even after we flagged a table, we were told to wait—only to see that same table given to someone who walked in 15 minutes after us. That was disheartening. It left us wondering: Do you discriminate against certain guests? Do you prefer tourists over locals? Or are your staff judging customers based on what they wear? We came hoping for a good experience but left feeling quite the opposite.

Such an exquisite place to taste authentic Rajasthani cuisine with an surprise element of Italian delicacies all under one roof. Tasted thier signature dishes smoked mushroom galawati and laal maas, both were bang-on. Vegetarian chef special Cauliflower shorba and mewari rabori are must try. Though the place was full, they handled the guests at ease and humbly. Special mention to the rustic ambience of the heritage place, which adds an extra pleasure to the ultimate dinning experience. Parking facilities are available and prebooking the seats are recommended.

3nd November 2024- From Ahmedabad I went to eat at this place during Diwali. I suddenly went to this place. Never forget that day and night. The location was awesome. One was right next to Lakepichola. This is the best place for candle light dinner in Udaipur. 1) Location- I was fed up with the location. There was a quiet atmosphere and soft music playing from above. It felt like somewhere in heaven. There was no crowd at all. 2) Food- First of all I ordered Paneer Chili there. Also ordered 2 times. I also had a few drinks with it. Because it didn't stop me. Then I had a glass of Old Monk & a paneer chili with it. And the sound of water was coming from the lake on the other side. And the songs were playing softly. It was a great night for me in Udaipur. which will never be forgotten. Then we guys ordered egg dishes. I was very happy. The food there was really good. total 3 person billing amount 2950/- We have ordered 2 Paneer Chilli, 3 Glass 30ML old monk, 3 Glass 30ML Rum, 1 Moito around 280/- Egg Curry + Laccha Paratha (Quantity also good) Papad 4 so finally Billing amount 2950/- 3)Service - service was also good. There was no waiting. And the order also came quickly. ❤️Advise - If I tell the truth, if you want to give a surprise to someone, give it to this place. will be happy.😎😎😎

When exploring the enchanting city of Udaipur, a visit to the Heritage Haveli Roof Top Restaurant is an absolute must for a romantic dining experience. Perched on the eastern banks of Lake Pichola, this charming eatery offers breathtaking views of the city's stunning skyline. Guests can indulge in delectable Mewari cuisine, which has become a favorite among food enthusiasts visiting Udaipur.
This is a hotel very fantastic and quickly

Absolutely horrible place! Reasons being: 1. The rates of items mentioned on the flex board at the entrance on road differ vastly from the corresponding prices mentioned on menu card. Needless to say, the prices mentioned at entrance are a trap to lure customers in and then make them pay the higher prices as mentioned on menu. 2. At the corner of the last page of menu card, the following is written in small font "14.8% service tax extra" which is outrageous. 3. I asked for simple/plain water and I was handed a mineral water bottle. I asked waiter to replace it and he denied. 4. The place is very dirty. There was a cup filled with some sugar on my table and there were literally dozens of ants in it moving the sugar out. got the cup removed but still there were a lot of ants moving around on chair, table, railing etc. After I noticed the above, I quitely left the place and published this review as an eye-opener to you.

The Elevate is a newly opened rooftop restaurant located in Vishnupriya, offering stunning views of the city palace at night. It's a classy option for late-night dining, open until 2 am, making it perfect for couples to enjoy romantic meals and conversations. The restaurant serves multi-cuisine delicacies and provides a friendly staff along with good food, creating an ideal atmosphere for hanging out with friends or family.
Would highly recommend this place....it was really peaceful place and the food was really tasty and service was also really good.....the staff(prakash)was really helpful and polite....we tried their veg. Crispy and hakka noodles and also veg hot and sour soup all was 10/10.....would love to revisit again.....

It's a newly opened place at Vishnupriya. A rooftop cafe with direct view to City palace makes this place more beautiful at night. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. It's a pure vegetarian restaurant. Nice place to hangout with friends/family.
