Located in the heart of the Potteries, Staffordshire, Hetty's Tea Room is conveniently situated at Froghall Wharf in the Staffordshire Moorlands. This charming establishment boasts inviting interiors and offers a delightful selection of homemade scones and exceptional oatcakes. Housed within a 200-year-old Grade 2 listed building by the canal side, Hetty's Tea Room has been transformed into a cozy and welcoming space.
We held my friends baby shower at hettys today and they kindly let us have the upstairs room and served us high tea. It was such a beautiful room and we felt very special. The food was amazing and the scones were out of this world.

Absolutely lovely little place!! Great setting, extremely polite, helpful & friendly staff, tasty food, reasonable prices and super quirky Alice in Wonderland décor upstairs! Perfect location for an end-of-hen-weekend lunch stop!!😃 Would highly recommend!

Lovely place to go with the Cauldon canal and the river Churnet by it . We booked a table as it’s Mother’s Day weekend. Very busy . We had a set time to be there and leave . The problem was you had to queue to be served which took forever. Then we were clock watching and encouraging our children to eat up . The food was delicious and nice to be able to have a variety of foods plus afternoon tea . The cakes looked define . Cant believe how many different flavours of scones to choose from , apple, cherry , raspberry were just a few . There was a car park and an overflow both were full .There is outside seating and shelters . Dogs welcome . I would definitely go back but maybe not on a special weekend . Definitely worth booking before hand . Toilets are across the road not on the premises.

Well I was excited to visit Hetty’s…was not disappointed. Great place to enjoy coffee and breakfast. We will definitely be back for Scones!!

Hetty's Tea Shop is full of character, not just on the outside but inside too, such an interesting little Tea Shop! Everything is at a high standard, quality of food and drinks were great and reasonably priced too! Cakes looked amazing! Plenty of Staff on, they were all very friendly and looked smart! Will definitely be back for another visit 😊

What a lovely gem. We visited after walking a section of the nearby Staffordshire Way. There were no places to stop on our walk so I had decided to make the short drive from the village of Kingsley to here. A lovely place to stop and visit with the canal and lime kilns on site, ample parking, a beautiful venue where we had late breakfasts, My wife loved the presentation and taste of her poached eggs and avocado on toast. We would have sampled the delicious looking cakes on display too but we are both trying to behave.

Catering food and drink supplier
Bakery
Fast food restaurant
Povey's High Street Biddulph, a catering food and drink supplier, has received rave reviews for their delicious oatcakes. These delectable treats are a popular choice among customers, who describe them as amazing and the best they have ever had. The oatcakes are not only tasty but also of great quality and offered at a fantastic price. Povey's also offers quick delivery for those who prefer to order online.
During my visit to the area, I had the opportunity to purchase fresh oatcakes, which I had not had for quite some time. I opted for a combination of bacon and cheese, as well as sausage and cheese. While I was initially apprehensive about the small pieces of bacon, I found them to be quite enjoyable. Should I find myself in the area again, I would certainly make a return visit.

We order our Staffordshire Oatcakes from here and get them delivered to Berkshire. They are great quality, next-day delivery service and are good value. We buy six dozen a go, which sounds a lot, but they freeze well and soon get eaten! A healthy alternative to bread and very yummy!
Andrew K — Google review
I am honestly impressed about the quality of Poveys. I have been having oatcakes for many years and I these are tried and tested for being the best oatcakes ever. I cannot say any more about these before I eat them all up! Thank you so much to the staff as well - you are incredible and so kind and make Poveys the official number 1!
Jacob N — Google review
Originally lived in Stoke until moving to London in 2019, so when I need a home comfort I'll order from Poveys or my parents have bought me some for home delivery. First time of ordering them myself and looking forward to making some for breakfast tomorrow. So glad to see that I can also order the High Lane oatcakes as well as that used to be my closest/local from home so will give that a go next time. Delivery was speedy and reasonable and I'm excited to try the mix as well! Also, the handwritten note and little smiley person was such a great addition, thank you!
Kieran S — Google review
We ordered on the phone and spoke to Sarah who was fantastic. We got back home to Devon and they the oatcakes were waiting for us. Tasted amazing with cheese and bacon. Will be ordering again and also passing on your details to my 2 brothers who also don’t live in Stoke anymore.
Telmo T — Google review
I recently moved away from near Biddulph and honestly didn’t think I’d miss much—until I realised how much I missed Povey’s Staffordshire Oatcakes! I was absolutely over the moon to find out they deliver even over 200 miles away to where I am down south. The oatcakes arrived fresh and delicious. It’s such a comfort to have a little taste of home again. Thank you, Povey’s, for keeping the tradition going and making it possible to enjoy proper oatcakes wherever you are! I have introduced them to people where I now live and I'll definitely be ordering more soon.
Linda A — Google review
Wow, Sarah, Tony, fantastic place and history. Tried our first Oat Cake here.
Steve G — Google review
I’ve been buying poveys oatcakes for years and always enjoyed them. So the other day I decided to have a drive out to the actual shop in Biddulph as you can’t beat fresh from “the premises”. I purchased a dozen oatcakes for my family and to my horror there were dots of GREEN MOULD on most of them in my packet (even after being stored in a cool dry place). I’m very dissatisfied and very disappointed as you’d expect this not to happen considering coming straight from the shop. I purchased these on the Tuesday and by the Thursday noticed the GREEN MOULD.

Cadwaladers is a delightful cafe that offers warm American pancakes topped with maple syrup and fruit, creating a refreshing yet fulfilling treat. These pancakes are perfect for enjoying outdoors on a sunny day. The owners of the cafe have the ability to update their profile details, add photos, respond to reviews, and more. The coffee at Cadwaladers is exceptional, comparable to what one would find in a specialized coffee shop. Their flat white pairs wonderfully with their toasted Coronation Chicken sandwich.
All staff are wonderful and there customer service is above and beyond 😀 👏 along with a lovely atmosphere you can't beat it!! I feel I need to mention Sean especially as his skinny flat white was soooo delicious 😋!! I am just as i type this review drinking one of Sean's skinny cappuccino and it's just as yummy!! Thank you. See you soon.

Have been regular customers for a number of years. However we were disappointed on this visit. Earl Grey tea was very poor like builders tea. Change of recipe for cheese and tomato toasty. Thin sliver of cheese and a dollop of tomato paste instead of real tomato. Please go back to the old recipe. Staff are always 5* and very warm and welcoming
Mike R — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous food, staff were lovely. An overall great cafe with very reasonable prices.
Steph W — Google review
After a nice walk around Trentham we decided to stop in before heading home for a sundae (around 515 and appears to be open till 7) my husband, mother in law, small baby and myself. Immediately the guy behind the till told us to sit in the hot window side even though the place was completely empty (it's too hot to sit in the window with a small baby we came in to escape the sun). Whilst in the queue the same guy said, no food, when we said we wanted the ice cream he begrudgingly said ok yea. We went to get a seat whilst my husband ordered. He was told that the cookie dough sundae was going to be watery cause of the hot cookie dough and they have watery ice cream (even though it's top on their menu) they clearly wanted to be done for the day and everything just seemed like and issue so we left and won't be back. Wouldn't recommend and will tell friends and family to avoid.
Sara R — Google review
Nice cafe near Trentham gardens with a large menu. Its a bit pricey but considering the location its not too bad. My pot of tea managed three mugs! Not too many wasps outside which is a nice relief.
Martha S — Google review
When we go to Trentham Gardens, the first place we go to, Cadwaladers for a takeaway coffee or ice cream. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and go out of the way to insure are experience is very good in this trying times, good on them, and when we are back to the new normal Cadwaladers is the place for my family. Just popped in today Sunday for a coffee and bacon sandwich 🥪🥪 for Teddy bear 🧸 and Maple 🍁, and they loved it. Good to go for a long walk. After the walk we popped in for a coffee ☕☕☕☕to warm up. Good service friendly staff and clean warm restaurant.

Best ice cream I've had in a long time. Very flavoursome and a wide selection. Vegan options available along with sorbets. Friendly staff.

Cafe
Bar
Breakfast restaurant
The Glost House is a charming cafe bar situated in the historic Phoenix Works in Longton. The owners, Ann and Martin, are passionate about offering simple yet delicious food and drinks made with locally sourced ingredients. Visitors have praised the tasty quesadillas and bacon and cheese oatcakes, as well as the efficient service. The venue's beautiful building makes it an ideal place for gatherings or parties. Although some visitors found the seating arrangements a bit odd, many enjoyed their experience at this independently owned establishment.
Firstly, the "bad" things, because i'm detail focused and a nit-picky bugger. ◇ my breakfast mushrooms were more fried than I would personally cook them. ◇ the (very cool looking) tables are semi-porous iron and presumably hard to clean residue off of, the epoxy coating it a teeny bit sticky for my clammy skin. (How abhorrent! /s) So I rolled my sleeves up for the little tack on the table and I'll ask for softer mushrooms next time. Positives? MANY. ◇ The owner is very transparent about the realities of being a business owner. ◇ The place is as beautiful as stoke-on-trent can be, the building should be on greeting cards. ◇ Big portions, genuine doorstop toast, biggest menu item (breakfast on toast) is £9.25 and the average item is ~£6. Affordable and very filling. ◇ Nice staff, good atmosphere, inoffensive quiet music covers any awkward silence when it's not busy, good for socially awkward people. ◇ It's 30 seconds speedwalk away from longton market and as close to tescos front door as the nearest costa (and my GF says the coffee is better!) ◇ fresh indoor design, tables have good space to walk between, ◇ tasty cakes! I had an easter mini-egg chocolate orange cheesecake and my GF had Tiffin. And it may be a little TMI, but theres a tiny urinal squeezed between the stall and right next to the sink which makes the mens toilet feel smaller than it should. The womens and disabled toilets (which have female hygene products!) Have comfortable space for a single occupant but the mens seems a little too cramped to attempt to accomodate two people at once. Overall, if you find yourself low on breakfast/caffeine in longton between 9am and 3.30pm with costa money and wouldn't mind sitting in a traditional stoke painting then I think you have to go there. If you don't like all the boarded up windows on the shut down local businesses, nothing to do in longton, and all the big franchises permeating the outside everywhere then support this local social space and read their website too (it's a good read!)

First time visit. Staff polite and helpful. My breakfast was very nice. No complaints from our group. We reserved the table, which was just as well, as the place got busy quickly. Would visit again!

Ordered a sausage bap which seemed expensive at £3.40 When it came it was huge with 4 sausages in it. Very nice. And a hot chocolate to go with it. It said to order at the counter but received table service. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

We drove past this place million times and never noticed it untill today. We were really surprised how lovely the place look (despite rundown neighbourhood). The building looks lovely both inside and outside. Jacket potato and the sandwich was really tasty

Me and my daughter had afternoon tea here a couple of weeks ago,it was our first visit here and it was brilliant, excellent value for money, good selection of both cakes and sandwiches(little baps)you usually get more cake than sandwiches but here it was half and half and good selection of fillings in the sandwiches, would definitely go again, and the staff were lovely too, thank you.

Absolutely amazing Cafe! I could not applaud the owners enough as they have hit the nail on the head with this one! Wonderful quaint cafe with a fantastic atmosphere and decor to match, the food is amazing (fully recommend egg in the hole) and all the cakes! 5* for quality and the service is top notch aswel with friendly team!, this is a hidden gem of a cafe and I would fully recommend popping in if you are passing! (Or even if your not passing by its worth a trip!) Parking is right outside which makes it even more accessible! I will be returning :)

Nestled in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent, J B Oatcake Bakery is a must-visit for anyone craving the region's beloved breakfast staple. Known for their soft and delicious oatcakes, this bakery has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. While parking can be found nearby—even during busy times—it's worth noting that service is currently offered through a window, adding to the unique experience.
Since moving to stoke several years ago and finding the magic of oatcakes, I have enjoyed trying the various shops all with their own unique style. Another new place today and lovely oatcakes and nice friendly service.. would recommend.

Started using this shop when High Lane Oatcakes changed hands and the quality dropped. I have to say I will be using this shop from now on. Oatcakes are spot on for me, as are the pikelets. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The go-to place for Oatcakes. I would recommend anyone to try for yourselves.

Took 2 dozen oatcakes with us on our Scotland motorbike tour, at breakfast the hotelier at the Buccleuch Arms warmed them up, all the guys asked me where they were from, they'd never tasted such fab oatcakes, the hotelier had never heard of them.. We apparently have to take more up next year!! Excellent oatcakes! 👍
Simon D — Google review
Hot and fresh, the breakfast food of Stoke-on-Trent. If you prefer the softer oatcake then this place does not disappoint. There is parking down the street, although is close to the hospital, but should be able to find a parking spot even at busy times. Service is via the window at the moment, and orders are given out over the railing. However, unfortunately it means there is little in the way of coverage from the rain, but service is fast even with the freshly cooked hot food and you can still see the oatcakes being made. Hot food is served on a paper plate, in a paper bag. The staff were helpful and friendly. A good local for oatcakes.

Bakery
Greggs is a delightful chain bakery that specializes in an array of freshly baked breads, savory snacks, sandwiches, and sweet treats. My recent visit to the Hanley branch was nothing short of fantastic! The warm atmosphere was complemented by the exceptional service provided by staff members like Josh and Emma, who greeted me with smiles and well wishes for my day ahead. I also had a wonderful experience with Dorne, who showcased remarkable problem-solving skills when addressing a delivery issue over the phone.
Amazing customer service! With a huge thank you to Dorne who after I telephoned the store due to me receiving the wrong delivery order was most apologetic and was able to swiftly rectify the solution to ensure all parties were minimally impacted. She showed great leadership and problem solving skills and I would certainly say she is a star employee that this location if not the whole company should be proud of. I hope this message can reach her and that appreciation is shown for her outstanding customer service and care. Thank you once again!

I have never been so appalled by the service I received at this Greggs. I was served by a child named Joel and the way he acted made me feel so uncomfortable and an inconvenience because of the manner he was acting in as if I had forced him to come to work sorry but no one wants that type of service. Even the way he works is shocking and sluggish like I feel bad for the rest of the workers having to work with someone like that as he works like he has no common sense or training.

In summation, my numerous encounters at this particular establishment have been overwhelmingly positive, serving to bolster my eagerness to visit Gregg's every time I find myself in the vicinity of Hanley. The unique blend of exceptional service, delectable offerings, and a warm, inviting atmosphere truly distinguishes this shop as a preeminent choice in my culinary explorations. Although it is worth noting that the shop's modest size can occasionally present challenges in terms of mobility and navigation within the space, these minor inconveniences are far outweighed by the exemplary customer service and the outstanding quality of the food provided. The staff consistently demonstrate a commendable level of attentiveness and professionalism, ensuring that every visit is not only enjoyable but also memorable. Furthermore, the careful attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the menu items reflects a commitment to culinary excellence that resonates deeply with patrons. In conclusion, despite the spatial constraints that may limit movement within the shop, my overall affection for this establishment remains steadfast, primarily due to the extraordinary dining experience it offers. The combination of friendly service and exquisite cuisine creates a harmonious environment that continually entices me to return. Absolutely awful customer service, a colleague barged past me when I was clearly as far over as possible in the que line, then proceeded to slam the door to behind the till and very loudly (loud enough that I heard through headphones) shout "or don't get out the way then" and stormed off behind a wall. Both other servers noticed I had heard her and and one said "oh no he did hear her".

Six Towns Oatcakes is a bakery in Stoke that serves some of the best oatcakes that the reviewer has ever tasted. The bakery is small and local, so it is worth stopping by if you are in the area. The oatcakes are served with different toppings and sauces, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
These are the most delicious oat cajes ive ever had. We was in Stoke at the weekend. I called ahead ordered 2 dozen oat cakes, and some filled take away oat cakes. Everything was fresh and ladies in shop so friendly, thank you. Absolutely delcious!!, i had bacon and cheese ost cake. Took me back to my childhood when my grandma made these. I have frozen the oat cakes and will be enjoying them for a traditional xmas breakfast.

Arrived today at 12.30, seemed not want to serve me as it was to much trouble, she even asked the women she was working with what time it was, I know they close at 1pm, if they want to close at 12.30 say so, I asked for one item but never got the chance to asked for another two items before she walked away, I had to say I wanted another two items, how disappointed they were to hear I was going to spend even more money, used to use this place all the time and really don’t know what I’ve done, don’t know where the owner is, not seen her for a while, things were great when she was there, won’t be visiting again until miss strop a lot leaves, I’ve added a photo of my sausage egg and cheese sandwich so you can see what your getting. One very disappointed customer.

Nice oatcakes well cooked had a bacon and cheese one and just the right amount of cheese so not too greasy. You are served through the half open door and wait outside but wondering how this works if it’s raining?
James R — Google review
The best oatcake I've ever tasted! (Mind you, I confess it was also my first - but a good introduction).

Cornhill Oatcakes is a beloved shop with a rich history and friendly owners. Customers have been enjoying their delicious oatcakes for decades, praising the fantastic customer service and reasonable prices. The thin, tasty oatcakes are a favorite, available for purchase at the shop or at a nearby supermarket. In addition to oatcakes, customers rave about the homemade cakes, sausage rolls, pasties, and vanilla slices.
I had my first experience of an Oatcake here. I didn't know what to order or what combination to have. They were all so helpful. And yes, it was absolutely lovely.

Lovely little shop, go on regular for my son's meat and salad sub rolls, oatcakes and pies/ pasties if he asks for them. I also visit their cousins stall on Hanley market if I need oatcakes as she sells them there for them. Had pies and pasties off Michelle too, lovely girl, always makes you feel valued like they do in the shop near me. As long as it stays I will still visit.😀🏆💐

Top oatcakes, and the vanilla slices are awesome. The recipe has not changed since I used to go here when I was at school 30 years ago.

The oatcakes are very nice and fairly priced, they are on the thin side if you like them that way. I was able to pay on card so that was good. I'm not a fan of the type of cheese as I prefer I different sort, but that doesn't reflect on my rating. I enjoyed them and didn't have to wait too long for them to be made. It's also easy to park nearby.
Mark F — Google review
I love these oatcakes, I prefer my oatcakes on the thinner side and these are perfect. I've not bought directly from the shop, but Keith's Supermarket in Brown Edge sells Cornhill oatcakes and I pick up two packs most weeks.
Christine H — Google review
Every item i have purchased has been delicious. The oatcakes and pikelets are smashing, the home made cakes, sausage rolls and pasties are bloody amazing. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Born and bred in Stoke on Trent and an Endon resident for several years but only now have we tried Cornhill oatcakes. These are by far the best oatcakes in Staffordshire. Long live the Oatcake.
James B — Google review
These are very very good oatcakes. The oatcakes are very light , not greasy and the cheese is a perfect match
