Butcher Boys uMhlanga is a vibrant steakhouse that caters to meat enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a variety of wet- or dry-aged beef, expertly grilled to perfection over an open flame. In addition to classic steaks, the menu features options like roasted marrowbone starters, cote de boeuf, avo-and-Dijon sirloin, and apple malva pudding for dessert.
So they have absolutely stunning dry aged beef, it's called butcher boys so don't come in for the veggies which are very much the side kicks to the super hero steaks.
Portions are big and extra big for the extra hungry people out there and they have all the cuts you could be looking for. I went for the rump, medium rare with the most special compound butter made of truffle and marrow... I mean decadent pairing. The other guys went all in with 1kg rib eyes that would make your eyes turn into hearts and you will fall in love.

A carnivore’s delight❣️🥩A very busy hive of activity when my daughter and I were there Tuesday evening before Comrades. The roasted bone marrow with Parmesan encrusted crostini was a completely new experience and one we have to go back for. Choice of a 600gm or 1 kg T-bone cooked to perfection as was my 200gm filet. A culinary delight❣️ Great friendly and prompt service. A must ‘go to’ if you are a meat eater.
Stopped here around 6:30pm on a Monday and just happened to get the last unreserved table. T-Bone steak and baked potato were great. The cocktails were also quite delicious. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was even better!
The food is good, menu has options for every taste. Portions are generous as well.

As a person and family that loves steaks, when you see the name Bucher Boys prime steakhouse in Umhlanga, you expect the best steaks that money can buy. Not true!. I had tased better prepared steaks at cheaper prices at other establishments. Fillet on the bone means you get 3 times the bone size than your meat, medium rare means it comes rare. As per pictures. Service was good, place is cozy.
Went to Butcher Boy's Umhlanga on Friday and had the most disappointing experience. Went it expecting to have a night filled with love and great food, ended up leaving upset and disappointed. It was a date night for my husband and I. We started with prawns which came served with a ginger sauce, I'd rate it a 2/10 - nothing spectacular, simply edible. We still went on to order our mains which were 2 rump streaks both done medium well, as someone that orders steak at almost every occasion I know steak well and the first time it was brought to me it was well done ( all gray meat and stiff, chewy ) I sent it back to the kitchen to be resolved it came back rare (or arguably medium rare as seen in the picture) both times the steaks were heavily deprived of seasoning and taste. Couldn't say much for the sides either ( we did baked potatoes, butcher boy chips and mac and cheese) the chips were a 8/10, baked potatoe 1/10 and mac and cheese 5/10) overall a very disappointing experience, decided to leave my plate as is and get a takeaway bag for our dog. Left without having dessert didn't see how it could be worth it. I will say though the atmosphere was fun but it's safe to confirm we wasted over R1000.

The ambience of the restaurant was very vibing and busy.Waitrons was very friendly upon arrival and through out our supper .
It’s good to get a table at the ends/ outskirts of the restaurant as the middle is quite busy with waitrons and patrons walking about etc .
We ordered steak which their steak to be honest is one of the best I have ever tasted . They do add a sauce of your choice at an additional price . Their portions are decent .Their sides were amazing , really rich and creamy as most of us had mash / spinach etc .
They do tell you prior to ordering that the 10% gratuity is already added on to your bill when it’s time to pay .
Overall our meals separately with drinks could have cost us anything between R300-R400 p.p which I thought was great value for the quality of food that we received .
I would definitely visit them again .

This restaurant is located in a new fancy mall in downtown Umhlanga. Lunch with large extended family group. There are great food and drink options. Glad I remembered to get pics of the menu. Sister and I shared the mushroom brioche bun burger and the woodfire hake - both very good. The hake is an honorable mention - delicious - perfectly seasoned and prepared. Would like to go back to try some of their breakfast options, not sure if I'll have time 😩. The service was good considering we were a big group. Decor is modern. The restaurant was busy for a Monday, but it was a holiday. Parking is through the mall.
Olive & Oil is one of my favourite restaurants, their menu is lovely and is the gift that keeps on giving. Love their pasta & lamb shank, simply melt in your mouth. Service can be improved, the taste of the food is always great, atmosphere is not bad at all. We had calamaris and chicken livers for the starters and lamb shank, pasta for main course and it was all very tasty. Looking forward to indulging again real soon🥰.

I ordered the gnocchi while my partner had the Cajun fish. Both dishes were well prepared, flavourful and beautifully presented.

Some of the staff were friendly and helpful but it was a bit frustrating that others kept bumping our chairs as they moved around…maybe the seating area is a bit tight.
Three friends, Wednesday night dinner @ 6pm. We tried to call to make a reservation, but weren't able to get reach anyone, so we took a chance. The place was quite full but they had a table for us. The service was excellent. We didn't have to wait overly long for our food. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. The toilet wasn't clean when I went - my only complaint.
Been dining at O&O from their prior years at their previous nearby location.
Dropped by for lunch today, was served by a fantastic waiter named Nick. He was very attentive and very patron conscious despite serving at other tables. He even remembered where we last sat when we dined previously.
The food was great, thoroughly enjoyed, as was desert. This restaurant has wonderful decor, a great atmosphere and really makes it’a great experience.

Always amazing! From the service to the atmosphere... so inviting and warm, the service staff are so kind and attentive. Best creme brulee, and the kataifi cheese cake is devine.
We went for the R200 lunch menu. It includes a starter from four choices, a main from six choices, and two dessert options. For R230 you can add a glass of wine, a 330ml beer, or a Brutal Fruit.
Our server, Spha, made the experience great. He was friendly, clear, and attentive. The atmosphere was warm with good music and decor. The only odd part was the number of staff standing around watching, which felt a little uncomfortable.
For starters, the whipped feta was excellent and worth recommending. For mains, we ordered the lime and coconut fish curry and a veg pizza. Portions were large and filling. The curry had good flavour but needed more coconut. The veg pizza was a surprise standout, easily one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time.
Dessert was a letdown. The crème brûlée had the wrong texture and flavour, more like whipped cream than a proper brûlée.
Overall, the food was bold and satisfying, the service was excellent, and the vibe was enjoyable. I would return, but the desserts need improvement.

We had an amazing lunch at Mozambique Gateway and it was such a vibe! The food was such a hit, tasteful and well presented. We were served by a wonderful, friendly waitress by the name of Nonjabulo, she was all smiles from the start and she checked up on us often. We really appreciate this type of excellent service. First time visiting this restaurant. Service was alright, could’ve been better. Food was good. Enjoyed it completely. I think I’d go back for their food for sure. Had a chicken and prawn curry with coconut rice which was reasonably priced. Overall a recommend, I think everyone should try it out and have their wine experience of it.
This review is long overdue, but it’s one that absolutely needs to be shared! Two years ago, I had the pleasure of celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday at this amazing place, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. From the very first (very last-minute) phone call on the day of the celebration, the team went out of their way to assist – and truly made the night one to remember.
A special thank you to Purity, the manager on duty that evening. She was absolutely phenomenal! Despite the short notice, she handled everything with such professionalism and care. From helping with the decorations to ensuring that everything ran smoothly right up until closing time, Purity made sure my boyfriend’s birthday felt truly special. Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor stood out, and I can’t thank her and the rest of the staff enough for going the extra mile.
It’s rare to find such dedicated service, and even though it’s been a while, the memory still brings a smile to our faces. Thank you again for helping us create such a beautiful and unforgettable moment. Highly recommend!
Mozambik Restaurant situated in Gateway Theatre of Shopping is an epicentre of gratifying food, drink and fun!
Their food truly embodies flavour like no other! For Starters we ordered Squid Heads, Fish Cakes, Chicken Rissoles & their signature Prawn Bilene. Living up to their claim, their Starter, Prawn Bilene is truly irreproducible! All their starters were mouth-watering, however, their Prawn Bilene stole the show with its creamy, dreamy cheddar and feta sauce! For drinks we ordered a Raspberry Milkshake, a Chai Latte and Coke. The Raspberry Milkshake was truly something unique and out of this world!
For Mains we ordered, the Chicken Espetada, Quarter Chicken & 6 Medium Prawns, Quarter Chicken & Calamari (unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of this dish), And Chicken & Prawn Curry. All the mains were drenched with flavour and veritably a treat to the taste buds!
Upon arrival, we were also given nuts in the restaurant's customized cone paper and there was no dearth of tissues, which was easily accessible on the table from the cute dispenser. The service was commendable and the ambience lively and entertaining. Restrooms were also available in the restaurant for customers' ease of access. With Starters, our meal was approximately R300 a person. Definitely a sucker for their pungent dishes and will be returning for more!
Mozambik really impressed you! Sounds like everything—from the drinks to the food—was top-notch. That veg curry must’ve been something special if it completely caught you off guard. It’s not every day you find a place that gets a vegetarian dish so perfect that it leaves you in shock!
And those drinks? A strawberry candy cane, piña colada, and watermelon drink? That’s like a full-on tropical escape in a glass. The mix of flavors must’ve been so refreshing.
Honestly, with an experience like that, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re already thinking about your next visit. Would you order the same thing again, or are you keen to try something else on the menu?
All I can say is wow wow, I have experienced what seafood should be, I choose the seafood platter for one and the lemon and herb option, I tried to fault anything but nothing, every item was successfully prepared, succulent and juicy, and best was the value and care. I enjoyed the chicken and prawns combo, which was recommended by the server, it was really tasty. The bar-one milkshake was very rich and a must have for the person with a sweet tooth. The steak my companions had wasn't too grand but understandable. Overall good service, friendly staff.

The food and service here exceeded expectations. Our waiter was actually the manager (we only realised afterwards). He was very accommodating and helpful, which was great because we decided to come here at the last second and wasn't sure what to expect. It made our first experience here much better.
Food was delicious and filling. I ordered all Vitality items and found them much more delicious than items sold elsewhere.
Atmosphere was good. We went during the off peak time so I'm not sure how busy it gets during peak times.
Doppio Zero has a lovely ambience, friendly staff and delicious breakfast servings. Lovely egg bens and full breakfast, and that smoothie? It was to die for. I look forward to visiting again!🥰
Lovely restaurant. Service was good. I was a bit disappointed with my Iced Tea as it says its a 1L but it is served half with ice so it is a bit misleading. I would expect the ice to be served on the side and get 1L of juice. Imagine thinking you can share between four people? My mom said her chicken open sandwich was very nice with a bit of spice but the toast/bread brought down the meal as it was a bit tough/stale. Would definitely visit again though.
First time at this location. Well located in downtown Umhlanga. Large restaurant setup with indoor and outdoor seating. We were there in the morning and chose from the breakfast menu. The menu said specifically that it was for May 2025, so I'm unsure if they menu is updated every month. I'll try to find out. Ordered a hazelnut latte, peanut protein punch and shared an avocado toast. Other people ordered a couple of mocktails. Everything that we ordered was very good. The avo toast - bread was tasty, avos were fresh and creamy. Latte was delish! The restaurant is beautiful- loved the decor and the openness of the space. Options for seating. Lovely bar area. Service was very good. Would love to go back to try more options. There is a paid parking lot attached to this center and it is just up the street from the beach.

We decided to have lunch at Lupa and it was great.
Staff was super friendly and Mandy our waitress was funny and attentive.
Started off with the arancini that was good I have had better elsewhere. Not sure if your using the correct rice.
The pork ribs was really delicious.
The gnocchi del sol was over seasoned use less salt. I found it too salty. The gnocchi I did not like so much as I prefer the potato gnocchi as it's softer and pillowy compared to the firmer one I was served. The dish was good, less salt next time.
The Amy pizza was enjoyed by my guest.
I did try 1 slice and I didn't enjoy it as it was a bit on the dry side for me. Maybe a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze could bring that pizza together nicely.
Lastly I didn't enjoy your espresso.
Lovely atmosphere will be back again.
Here’s what I thought about lunch at Lupa…
They have some really great options on their lunch menu specials. I got the steak with potato wedges and added the masala sauce. I want to say it was a great meal but without the sauce it would have been really dry. The masala sauce was more like a mushroom cream sauce. 🤷♂️
We got the seafood risotto from the main menu, I really have to be honest about the experience here, the risotto rice was still crunchy which didn’t feel right.
We sent it back to the kitchen and they cooked it for a while longer which made all the difference.
The staff were really pleasant and friendly and they add to the lovely atmosphere.

What a lovely experience. Was not the first time but always a good time at Lupa in Umhlanga. Michael and Sandile were helping us and they were both gems! The only thing is, the bartender forgot the syrup in my cocktail but Michael was quick to rectify the mistake. The food🔥🔥🔥!!! More please!!! Will definitely be back, AGAIN😁!!!
Yesterday my family and I visited Lupa Osteria in Umhlanga. They have a lovely lunch menu available Monday to Friday until 4pm for just R115 each.
We ordered the chicken parmesan, Mexican pizza and sirloin from the lunch menu. Everything tasted absolutely fresh and delicious 😋
The chocolate milkshake was one of the best we have ever tasted. The service and atmosphere was amazing.

We had such a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming - we can say that of all the waiters! Ntobeko went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. It’s rare to find a place where everything just feels right, but this restaurant truly delivered on every level. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere.
I went there for dinner with four other friends.
Positives:
1. Their chicken salad was crispy and fresh, although it needed more dressing and the chicken was a tad dry.
2. Their ribs were tender and flavourful.
3. The burger with fries were good and their mash potatoes were creamy and paired well with the lamb shank and veg.
4. They had clean facilities and the restaurant was well-decorated.
Negatives:
1. We had an issue with the size of their R300 lamb shank; it was comparable to a chicken drumstick. The manager apologised and gave us a proper portion size after we spoke to him.
2. Their Starter Meatballs were quite salty and a bit dry. It's flavour felt one-dimensional.
3. The service was lackluster; our waitress seldom came to the table to check up on us. We wanted condiments, more dressing for the salad etc. Even getting our bill was time consuming.
Overall, their food was okay but overpriced considering the portions size. It was not the best Lupa I've been to; I recommend some staff training to ensure all costumers gets the consistent excellent service that would make this restaurant even better.
Friendly staff, exceptional service from Zama Z. My friend had the meatballs pasta which she enjoyed but I can’t say the same about my marinara. The portion was fine but it tasted quite bland, even after being returned to the kitchen. I had to add salt, chilies, cheese, basically everything on the table just to give it some life.

It was our first time at this restaurant and boy oh boy did we enjoy!. The food was great, the service that we received from Sibusiso was 11/10, he was such a joy to be around. This time around we tried their lunch promotion for R189 per person, where you can have a draft or juice together with a starter, main and dessert of choice, the ice cream and Malva pudding weren’t the best but the service and other items definitely made up for it. We will surely be back to try the other yummy food on the menu.

Great food, service and ambiance. We ordered the R199 special - starter, main and dessert with a drink. I ordered the fried squid for starter, steak and chips for main and brownie and ice cream for dessert. It was well-worth the price and portions were generous. I ordered an extra drink. Great deal and great vibe especially for a Thursday evening. Overall experience is 7/10 simply because it was a bit difficult to find, it can get really busy and the lighting isn’t very good at night but it does contribute to setting the tone of atmosphere.
Village table is an okay restaurant, it gets noisy when busy but the food is not bad. We had the chicken wings, ribs and some chicken livers. The taste of the food and the service could have been better but the presentation was spot on. Nonetheless, it is a lovely restaurant. I look forward to trying different meals from there.
it is not Halal. This place has a great location. There were lots of tables reserved and none had seating taken when we left. The place was not busy. The staff was very helpful and kept checking on us. The drinks menu was extensive. for the location price is what is expected. it does have an amazing view. I think was worth seeing it once.

What a wonderful find, so great I spent both afternoons of my weekend here. The waitrons are smiling, friendly and very efficient. Big screens for sport. Clean and polished feel, with lots of natural light. The food was delicious, I absolutely loved the curry. Great patrons and atmosphere too. I’ll definitely be back.

Great atmosphere and good vibe. Cocktails were good. Food tasted nice, but both my friend and I had not so great tummy's after the food. Think it was the marrow bones being too rich. But the food tasted amazing.
I tried the Durban Lamb Curry and it was spectacular. I highly recommend it and the excellent service from friendly staff was the cherry on top. Will be back!

The food was excellent, chicken nachos and deep fried prawn starter.

Went to steak and ale for the first time on the weekend, what an incredible spot. If I remember correctly our waitress was Mia. Incredible server and very attentive and friendly, made it an incredible experience.
More a pub first and restaurant second. The name seems to be a restaurant first and then pub.
The waitress by the name of Sam was pleasant and efficient, which was nice. Quick with drinks and food delivered as ordered, thank goodness. Pub was busy for a Monday night 🌙. The only problems were their was no finger bowl or wet wipes provided with the rib dish and that is a messy meal to eat, asked for the bone for takeaway. I had to do it myself at the table.
There was a wondering person with the so called name of "superman" who was helpful.
Will try again in the future.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere.
I had my first visit to Steak and Ale Umhlanga today and was disappointed with the service. Mia, the barista/waitress, needs to ensure that all customers are treated equally.
Before the game even started, I asked for a cup of coffee, but she disappeared until I reminded her. When I asked again, she said the coffee machine was broken and that it was after 45 minutes of wait 😣.After the first half of the game, I requested the menu, but it took her 25 minutes to bring it to me, even after we had reminded her.
This is unacceptable. It seems like Mia is undermining customers, and I don’t appreciate that kind of treatment. I hope you can address this issue for the benefit of all customers.

Daruma Umhlanga – Superb Food, but Service Falls Short
I recently dined at Daruma Umhlanga and have mixed feelings about the experience. The food was undoubtedly superb—every bite felt carefully crafted. I especially enjoyed the sushi; although a bit above average in price, the quality justified the splurge. The fried egg rice was slightly oily but packed with flavour and paired perfectly with the crispy chicken panko.
However, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed sluggish and lacked the warmth and attentiveness you’d expect at a restaurant of this calibre. Once our orders were placed, the menus were taken away, and it felt like we vanished off their radar. There was no follow-up, no chance to order anything further, and getting the bill was almost a mission in itself.
To top it off, the usual visit or check-in from a manager—something you’d expect during a sit-down meal—never happened.
All in all, if you’re going just for the food, it’s a win. But if you value a complete dining experience with attentive service, you might leave feeling a bit down.
We went here for mums bday, it was just the 4 of us, we booked in advance and requested to sit by the grill for the experience, it was definitely an experience.
The food was good, and it was a great service. It was a bit pricey, considering that we shared a tapenyaki platter and starters.
The platter, however, was enough for the 4 of us. Overall, it was a great experience if you wanted to try out the hibachi experience.
My partner has a shellfish allergy. We made them aware on arrival and to be fair they went above and beyond to ensure the grill and utensils were properly cleaned. We were well looked after and the food was fantastic. Great service can't wait to go back

I recently had dinner here and my girlfriend and I had a great night, I would recommend sitting at the teppanyaki station for the best experience. The food was delicious and my GF said the salmon was the best she has ever tasted. Will definitely return.

We had a great experience at Daruma in Umhlanga. Our waitress Wandile was friendly and helpful, and our teppanyaki chef Melusi cooked our food perfectly right in front of us. We ordered the teriyaki chicken with vegetables and egg fried rice, and everything was fresh, tasty, and cooked just right. The whole experience was fun and enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back.

When we arrived the place was packed and our table was not ready, we were a bit annoyed as we had international guests with us that were leaving the following day and wanted an early night, but they seated us at the bar and we ordered drinks, the barman came to us to apologize for the long wait and offered us complimentary drinks which was a nice touch and finally we were seated.. the food was just amazing and we had a fun waiter, we were a bit cramped but the food just made up for it and it was lovely to see that on a Tuesday night they were manic busy, They are well priced and with good quality portions and each dish was delicious , the only dish was the Prego roll which was a bit small for the price but we had ordered far too much food anyway! Worth a visit and we will certainly be back again. PS LOVE the new expansion and refurbs.. very nice

I'd give it 2.5 stars if i could. We didn't have a booking, but the restaurant managed to seat us, so half a star for that. We sent one drink back as it was wrong. The bread rolls weren't the freshest. The chicken was bland, and we ended up taking the chicken back to our accommodation to make our own chicken mayo the next day. The prawns and calamari were ok, but could do with more flavour.
We had a great dinner at Joita’s in Umhlanga. Our waiter Sam was friendly and attentive, making sure we were well looked after. I had the fillet prego, which was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The food and service were both excellent. Definitely a spot I’d recommend and return to.

Hi Joitas, we’ve always loved your restaurant and it used to be one of our favourites. On our last visit(22 September 2025), the peri-peri sauce was excellent as always, but we were disappointed that the baby chicken was very dry and tasted precooked, and the sardines and sides were cold. The service was also quite slow even though the restaurant was quiet. We wanted to share this feedback as we really hope it was just an off night – we’d love to see Joitas back to the standard we’ve always enjoyed
Food was good, was told three times by the waiter that if we wanted chicken we had to order now, sadly service was dismal. Waited inside the restaurant to be seated, two staff members of which one was presumably the manger simply ignored us.
If it wasn’t for the fact that we had just arrived from Gauteng, we would have gone elsewhere.
Doubt I would visit again and cannot recommend

This was the First julios we have eaten at and it was an amazing food experience. The friendly and skilled yet humble waiters are always on par and extremely informative pairing your likes with the menu. Its a pity this Portuguese restaurant could have so much potential, from the authenticity of the food to the decor. Very disappointing, in a prime spot in the heart of Umhlanga, by the sea, its shabby look with the faded restaurant's name on the outside, to missing hanging light bulbs and mismatched tablecloths and uninviting look. We specifically searched for and wanted to dine at a Portuguese restaurant, however the ambiance and food unfortunately did not meet up to our standards and expectations. The food photos may look good but the sauce and flavours are not true to portuguese cuisine (we are portuguese). The two stars are for the excellent waiters.
Nice little restaurant. Chicken livers was good. Chinchado was not great...as far as Portuguese food goes they are OK, you could do great somewhere else.

Thank you to the wonderful managers, servers, and chefs for making sure each visit is wonderful and well worth the money. We definitely recommend the mama's meatballs and coconut cheesecake. Each server is wonderful, friendly, and helpful. It makes the overall experience even better.
I recently celebrated an anniversary dinner here, and I have nothing but praise! From the service to the food. It did not disappoint! We felt so taken care of by our waiter Sam. From the calamari starter, which was delicious and crispy, not to mention so flavourful.. to the fresh hand made wood fire pizzas which was made in a classic Italian way. It was delicious. We had ordered the Hawaiian pizza and prawn and chorizo pizza. We had also got a bottle of wine to the table , which was served at the perfect temperature and refilled whenever we needed. Even when busy you are taken care off. A must visit if you are in the area !

I ate here for my bday. These guys are the best! Basil went out of his way for us. Waiters are on point. The service is truly exceptional! Chefs passion comes through in the food - for me, he's the star of the show. Everyone's food at the table was good (I always steal a bite from everyone) . Grimaldis Grimaldis Grimaldis. A lush restaurant located at Umhlanga Rocks, with an ocean view while you eat or sip on your drink. A very stylish and beautiful restaurant. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. The space oozes calm and ambience. I had their prawn picanto pasta, it was amazingly rich, creamy and full of flavour. I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I had their coconut cheesecake which was also very creamy and decadent on the palate, only, I wish the ratio of crust to creamy topping was a little more balanced. The drinks were wonderful, nice and colourful, sweet and thirst quenching. I enjoyed myself and look forward to coming back again, I highly recommend Grimaldis😊.

You can never go wrong with Mary & Joe. Excellent breakfast, brunch, drinks, and baked goods—with hands-down the best waffles in Umhlanga. The interior is beautiful, and it’s always a lively social hub, especially on weekends. It would be even better if they stayed open a little longer.
James was the friendliest waiter with such a good sense of humor. Also had the most delicious French toast I’ve ever had in my whole life. Wow.

We love this place not only because of the food the service and the quality but you can actually buy a sourdough load for home. The food is spectacular and there are some very interesting options from healthy to not so healthy but one fo their treats is their desserts. The space is great and fresh.

I had the sweetcorn scramble, which was so tasty and full of flavour. Their coffee freezo is also my favourite — so good! A great spot for a relaxed and delicious breakfast.

We had a fabulous afternoon celebrating my brother's birthday at La Parada. The atmosphere was amazing, I loved it. There was a dj and he was great. The manager Tau was friendly, attentive and helpful. Upon my request he gave me a tour of the place. Our friendly waiter kept filling our glasses, we didn't have to wait for service. We also loved the deco, the baskets with lights was so original, also the photos on the pillars gave a vintage vibe. Loved it. Drinks were mixed great, shooters and cocktails were delicious. The only negative was our food. I had the prawn pasta and it was bland, the prawns didn't taste good and the Pasta was cut so I couldn't swirl it around my fork. My husband had a beef burger and he didn't complain.
That aside, it's a great venue and we will definitely go back for the drinks and vibe and for the great service.

We had such an amazing night at La Parada Gateway... The vibe was great, the food was delicious, and what really stood out was the service. Bali was our waitress and she was honestly fantastic... so attentive, friendly, and made us feel comfortable the whole evening. Tau, the manager, went out of his way to make sure we were looked after and helped us with anything we needed throughout the night. He also came by a few times to check in, which really showed how much they care about their guests. What impressed me even more is that even other waiters and staff who weren’t serving our table still jumped in to help whenever we needed something. That teamwork and effort made the experience even better. Honestly, one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while… can’t wait to come back!
I went there for dinner with some friends and we were happy with our meal. The place was beautifully decorated and their food is decent although quite pricy.
The chicken burger had great flavours plus the skinny fries were tasty. The miso aubergine was alright, just wished it had more textures. The veg poke bowl was excellent, made with fresh ingredients. The potato skins were very oily and salty, not really worth it. Their bathrooms didn't have soap.
Overall not too shabby and I do recommend a try if you have some money to splurge.

Lovely restaurant. It's so cute on the inside. The deco is a mixture of chic, modern, and vintage. They have a lot of seating, inside and outside. They have areas suitable for families and ones that cater to the party crowd.

I like how they make sure they are not serving alcohol to teenagers by asking for their ID to prove if they’re 21. The service was top notch and songs too played by the Dj . A beautiful restaurant with tasteful decor. We visited on a Friday night for dinner, and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. I had the grilled calamari to start and be warned that the starters are very small. For the main course, I had the seared salmon, and it was perfectly cooked. My partner had the lamb chops, which was slightly under seasoned for his liking. Overall, it was a lovely experience & I wish to return to see a full and vibing restaurant.

Lovely intimate setting, wonderful wait staff paid attention to detail. The food was wonderful, definitely recommend the bang bang prawns as a starter. Mains were hot and just as I asked for, dessert was rich and delightful. Perfect for a partners night out or special intimate occasion.
The food and the atmosphere were good. The restaurant was not crowded while I was there for dinner. The complementary bread was soft and fresh out of the oven, and the sirloin with steamed vegetables and Rum & BBQ sauce was delicious. However, they sprinkled some course salt on the meat, which I didn't really like. The sirloin had a bit of fat to it, which I was not fond of. I ended up eating the meal without the sauce as it was tastier. I also had a double chocolate brownie dessert. However, the brownie was not soft enough to put a spoon through.
Either management or ownership change as its not the same but still great, wonderful ambiance to be for a relaxed evening. Nice set up, clean and tidy.

Great food, excellent service and overall a wonderful experience dining at Little Havana. Portions are very generous, special requests are never too much effort for the staff and they make you feel at home and very welcome. The prawn skewer with salad which I had for a starter was delicious. So too was my husbands calamari and chorizo. For mains I had pork ribs, no extra basting when grilled and sweet potato. My husband ordered pork belly with sweet potato. You should definitely pay this restaurant a visit. You will not regret it.

We ordered a Chicken Alfredo Pasta, A Barbadian Chicken, A Butter Chicken Toasted Sandwich with chips and assorted condiments, a Mango Juice, a Coffee Freezo and a Slice of Lemon Velvet Cake. The food was mouth-watering and even though it was festive season, there was no lapse in the quality of the food, nor the service. The Lemon Velvet Cake was absolutely heavenly and fluffy.
It costed us approximately R150 - R200 a person. I loved the overall ambience and architecture of the restaurant and will definitely be visiting more frequently!

Hubby and I decided to stop by Circus Circus for lunch. We were greeted with a huge smile by the waiter and shown to a table.
Once we placed our order, we didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive. It looked and tasted delicious. Our waiter was absolutely amazing, so friendly and efficient. He made our visit such a pleasurable experience.

A restaurant in a great locarion in the mall. Sadly the service received was not good. This restaurant was highly recommended but what I experienced today won't make me continue the "recommendation-wave."
We had to wait 11 minites for a menu - which I had to go request from a staff member who seemed to be of a "senior position" based on her uniform. Same staff member was quite unfriendly. Then to wait for our waiter...another 10-15 minutes elapsed.
The waiter was helpful but sadly only helped us to the point of beinging the food to the table. The waiter who collected our plates & brought us the bill...was a different one.
There was no consistency.

My sister and I had sundowners at The Lighthouse Bar at The Oyster Box in Umhlanga, and it was a beautiful experience. The sunset views over the ocean are absolutely stunning. I had the Lighthouse cocktail with rum, amaretto, and pineapple — it was delicious. My sister had a glass of champagne, and we also enjoyed some fresh oysters, which were lovely. Right now, Lighthouse has an amazing ribs special. Not on the menu so its a top tip if you plan to go. Love the view, love the history. Definitely worth setting aside an afternoon to have some great time with your family and friends.
the best thing about this place is the view. it's sea facing right next to the lighthouse and the pier. however the outdoor seating area wasn't clean. there was water spilled on the floor and the cushions looked dirty. so we sat inside and ordered for some cocktails. the gin based cocktails were refreshing but nothing amazing.

The monkeys and pigeons are a problem, but the moment they start bothering you, the staff bring a bottle of water to spray them with. Have them leave the bottle with you. Then I promise you you'll enjoy a meal with no problems.

Meh! The view is outstanding, as you can smell the ocean from the restaurant. The service is pretty good. The menu is very pricey, but that is to be expected of the Beverly Hills Hotel and you are paying for the location. The cocktail was outstanding and they did not skimp on the alcohol. However, the food was very disappointing. For R130 I received a starter portion of calamari with a tablespoon of avocado on the side. The calamari had an overwheming and nauseating herby parsley taste, enough to numb the tongue. It also had a burnt taste and brown colour. It was sent back, it arrived the second time with less parsley taste, but still the burnt herby taste remained. I ate it then , because I was hungry but it left a bad aftertaste and was not what I expected. The colour and taste completely overpowers the calamari. The plate was not practical - had no space and tubes were falling off the plate. Was actually still hungry after I ate this. Ordered a second meal. Also - they have mangwanani on site but I was told I could not use the service as I'm only a day visitor - is my money not of same value?

I visited Mo Noodles on two different occasions as a part of the 'percher' project as a mystery diner. Both occasions were quite different to each other as the first was on a fairly busy Thursday night where the downstairs section was full and the second visit was a quiet Sunday lunch where there had only been one other table during the whole visit.
Having previously visited Mo Noodles a few years ago I was delighted to go back to try the meals that i had enjoyed and they did not disappoint. The star salad is still the tasty fresh salad full of flavour and vibrant colours. the Tong Mein was a hearty warming soup with chunks of vegetables and mixed flavours (I added more chilli!).
My daughter joined on my second visit and despite being a fussy eater she thoroughly enjoyed her chicken noodle dish - minus any vegetables - and the chopsticks were a highlight. She completed her meal with marshmallow ice cream off their extensive list of home made ice creams.
Would I recommend Mo's? 100% yes. Service - adequate. Decor - bright and airy (Except I don't recommend the upstairs, espec if its nighttime and your eyes aren't 'youthful'!).

On business from Cape Town and decided on Mo Noodles to treat my clients. Unfortunately it was not the best choice to impress as we left very unimpressed. My clients ordered juice just to be told that there was no juice (after they went through the list of all the juices on the menu). Ordered Appletizer just to be told there was none. We should have left at this stage but kept the good reviews in mind. One client ordered beef stir fry - just to be told there is no beef. According to the waiter the were very busy during the day. Two of the dishes were nice - it is difficult to go wrong with stir fry rice. The dish of my one client was so salty that she could barely eat it and gave up after a few bites. The coconut and lime soup tasted was also not a winner - actually tasted like a premix product. We told the both the manager and the waiter about the one dish that was not edible. Unfortunately no effort to rectify or take it off the bill. Sad to say that we will not be back.

We celebrated my sons 23rd birthday at Tigers Milk Umhlanga on Valentines Day. We enjoyed the different DJs playing music, great atmosphere, and vibe. The service we received from Christopher was 10 out of 10. The restaurant was very busy so we didn't mind any delays. We were a group of 7 so we enjoyed the drinks and shooters etc. However, when our food arrived, I was disappointed. The chicken and onions rings were oily. The chips didn't look appetizing. (See photo) The salad I ordered was not fresh, the lettuce was wilted, there was only 1 olive in the salad, and I definitely would not
have served it to a guest. I hope your kitchen staff can prep better to be more prepared for busy nights. Beautiful place, though. Love the decor. We will definitely visit again but just for drinks.

There was a table of 9 of us and everyone had a lovely time. The service was top notch thanks to Anne, she really went the extra mile. The food was divine. From the moment we entered every staff we came into contact with was so welcoming and friendly.

Nestled in the heart of Umhlanga, Signature Restaurant is a fresh addition to the culinary scene, having opened its doors in late August. This establishment is poised to become a premier destination for fine dining enthusiasts, much like its renowned sister location in Sandton. With an emphasis on exclusivity and sophistication, Signature offers diners a unique experience that goes beyond just food. The ambiance at Signature Restaurant is truly enchanting; guests are welcomed into a warm atmosphere complemented by soothing live music that enhances every meal.
Words aren't enough to explain the experience of Signature Umhlanga. One just has to experience it for oneself.
As I put it, Signature is an experience, a complete experience.
Food was absolutely amazing as usual, from presentation to the aroma to the tase. And this is for starters, mains and desserts. For starters I have my favorite Butternut Soup which was delicious. Well, I ended up sharing it. For main, I had Seafood Pasta. Though the pasta didn't have prawns, so I added prawns as an extra. And for dessert, I had a very tasty Cheese Cake.
The service is out of this world, best in the business. The team works as a unit. An apron was given to me whilst having my Butternut Soup, which I found it as caring and a human touch to the service.
As for the atmosphere, it is calm and welcoming. Signature can be full, yet one can still have a private dining experience and many restaurants do not have such an effect.

Service is very attentive, friendly, and kind. However, the waiter was not sufficiently informative of the different items on the menu or recommendations and the best wine pairings for the mains chosen. The timing of the meal being brought was well planned out.
Starters and Mains were good. Specifically, the duck starter was delicious. The tiramasu dessert was average at best. My main dish was swaped for mash, and when asked if I could have the correct sides the dish supposed to come with, i was told I would have to pay additional for it. After some discussion, they agreed to bring the sides. However, it still did not match what was on the menu. That was rather disappointing.
Overall, the food was good and friendly service, but the experience isn't worth the price, and it doesn't feel like fine dining.
OMG WOW!!!!! words cannot explain the pleasant experience we had on the 8/8/2025,celebrating my friend's sister's birthday. I cannot fault anything in that restaurant, everything is top notch, waiters are friendly and welcoming, Oscar was our waiter, he was amazing and knowledgeable, keep up the good work, my guy🤛 The food was delicious and the ambience was out of this world. There was a live music, 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾.
This place is a breath of fresh air. It’s beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. The staff is professional and very friendly. The food was delicious. They gave us complementary wine in a glass and it was smooth and out of this world. I am proud to say I was happy with everything.

The food wasn't so great, wasn't happy with my very expensive sushi plus a friend of mine wasn't happy with her alfredo pasta as well..the sauce used was sweet.
The ones who ordered steak were very happy with the taste but it was too small.
Aesthetics - very beautiful place.
The restaurant is very beautiful, we had a live singer she sang very good. For us it was a little bite mixed we ordered wine which was not available, then we wanted to order lobster also not available. Through we suspect there is just a portion of the wine card available. Moreover, the wines suggested as the one we ordered were around 40% more expensive. Furthermore the waiter hat neither known the wine card not the food card to a sufficient degree, as he mentioned different cooking techniques for a food item or the different grapes but not how they blend together.
Between the starter and the main course they brought us some sorbet which we don't order we thought it was because of the inconveniences but at the end we had to pay for each sorbet 85 Rand, this is a absolute no go you cannot charge something what we don't order.
We ate a lot so at least don't charge us for food we don't order or make clear that it will be charged!!!
I was here with my family, we enjoyed the food not to mention the staff, Mr Brian Mdluli gave us the best service. He was so kind and friendly. I am definitely coming back with my family again soon
A classic fine dining experience with great food and beautiful music. The restaurant has such a magnificent interior perfect for romantic dinner or to celebrate a milestone. Food is pricey but delicious, we ordered the Asian dumplings, Tempura prawns, Duck Trio and the pan fried duck. The flavors were absolutely amazing. Only disappointment was that they didn't have all the desserts on their menu however I did try the Berry and mascopone cheese cake which was quite nice. Overall one of the best Fine Dining restaurants in Durban. Definitely worth experiencing !!

My usual go to spot for McDonald's because they are open 24 hours so no matter what time I need a double Chilli cheese burger I can get it. The service is absolutely amazing and the staff are so friendly. They have the spicy mayo sauce that I have to get everytime I go there❤️

26/04/25. I felt robbed. App said that the double chili cheese meal was R49,90. However, I was charged R59,90, which I was not aware of. Attached are photos of the menu, vs. what I paid.
Visited the store on the 31.08.25 @ approximately 3am. I have never seen McDonald's Umhlanga so untidy. There bins inside were overflowing, used food containers were lying on most of the tables. The sit eating areas were in a terrible state. Why did the staff not attend to clearing of the used containers and packaging?. Guys you can't have people sitting and eating in such an untidy atmosphere. U are welcome to check your footage to confirm.
Sit down meals not drive thru :- We were vacationing in the area so we decided to get breakfast here. On the first visit, there were meals advertised on the screen for a breakfast deal but we couldn’t find it on the self service menu kiosk so we called over a staff member…. She went on to defiantly tell us that she was the manager and not a staff member?? Whatever, as that doesn’t solve the issue that we couldn’t order the deal that was advertised. She went on to tell us that it’s not her fault as it was not available in the store and that she hasn’t even received her posters etc…how is that our concern and why advertise it then!! Anyway, we ordered our meals and sat down, they took over 25 minutes to prepare the breakfast items!! We weren’t the only ones waiting on their meals as others were constantly asking the waitress to check but she just dismissed them saying “I will bring it” We went there again hoping this trip would be better. We ordered our meals (4) but they bring out only 3 which took over 20 minutes to arrive. When we told the waitress that there was 1 meal short, she got offended and quickly disagreed but I had my till slip with me and now had to show & tell it to her line by line!! Terribly slow, confused and uninterested staff!!
Absolute dog show most days. Have to wait in the parking because the drive through is slow and inefficient (why do they even need your slip at the last window? Cant they read the screens?)
Then when you are asked to wait in the parking for your food, you cannot because they have blocked the parking with cones for a reason id still love to hear. Best part is being questioned why you are parking in the cone spot as a PAYING CUSTOMER
I'm so disappointed in your service. I drove to the store at 2:30 am and I got there only to find it being closed. I drove back at 4 cause that's the time I was told to come back only to find the same issue. I was told they have a system issue and they're waiting for IT. This has happened to me twice in a row on separate occasions. This was never an issue in the past. The only reason why I drove there was cause I work night shift and was on my lunch break which ended up getting wasted by driving back and forth. Please do better!!! Definitely will advise my colleagues not to come there

Domino's Pizza Umhlanga Rocks (Closed) was a go-to spot for pizza lovers seeking a delightful array of pizzas and sides. Known for its unique take on American-style pizza, this location offered an enjoyable online ordering experience that allowed customers to track their food from preparation to pickup. While parking could be tricky during peak hours, the deliciousness of the pizzas made it worth the visit.
Ah this place destroys my diet plans. The BASE on the pizza is just too good honestly. And the online ordering is entertaining and truthfully it's nice knowing where your food is along the process so you can time your collection. Parking in busy times is the only slight niggle, so if you have a second person with you, double parking is the way to go

Haven’t had anything but a great pizza from this dominos. Admirably, dominos pizzas aren’t really Italian styled pizza’s, they’ve got their own category but they’re delicious and SUPER affordable if you keep an eye out for their deals. We got 2 large pizzas for the price of 1 italian styles pizza from a place down the road.
Tasty tasty pizza. Use the web order form on the domino's website and don't phone in. You won't understand them, they won't understand you. Fairly priced and delivery is fast. Remember to tip the driver!

If you are looking for a traditional USA pizza in the village, this is the place to go to, its nice and clean and it taste as your regular dominoes from the states! The menu is a bit short but it does contain most of the traditional pizzas.
Perfect for a movie night where you want takeaway pizza, thin or thick crust. They are not the fatest but the pizzas are really good so I suggest you phone your orders in. Also try the stuffed jalapeno bread thingys :)

I would rather slit my wrists with a baseball bat than order any more pizza from this place. Worst service, worst customer communication, worst attitude and the food is sub-standard. Eating plastic would be more satisfying.
