Restaurant
El Quenepo in Esperanza, Vieques is a well-respected restaurant known for its elegant dining experience. Located on the waterfront Malecon, it offers a touch of class with linen-dressed tables and gorgeous decor without being pretentious. Many consider it the most romantic restaurant on the island, with open arches allowing a continuous sea breeze and an upstairs balcony for additional seating options.
An excellent dinner! Everyone enjoyed their meal and finished most of them. They would have all been eaten but the portions were very generous. The seafood mofongo was the best along with the carefully crafted cocktails.

We had a very disappointing experience here. From the start, we didn’t feel very welcomed — as a brown couple, we sensed a bit of discriminating attitude from some of the staff. We ordered two appetizers (Crispy Pana & Corn Gordita and Mariscada Martini) along with drinks. The food took around 20 minutes, which was fine, but one of the dishes came out completely wrong. When we pointed it out, the person who seemed to be the manager was quite rude and insisted that we had ordered an entrée — even though the item we mentioned was clearly listed only under appetizers. Instead of listening, she gave us attitude. Thankfully, our server later apologized and admitted it was her mistake. The food itself was just okay for the price — nothing impressive. Overall, the service and attitude completely ruined the evening. Definitely not worth the hype or the price, and we wouldn’t go back.

What a gem right on the Vieques beachfront! El Quenepo offers stunning views that make every meal feel like a tropical escape. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared—and the drinks hit the spot too. Our waiter multitasked as the bartender and handled everything with efficiency despite the busy vibe. Just a heads up: you’ll order everything at once, which keeps things streamlined. We noticed the team could use better communication tools like headsets for smoother coordination (e.g., when we wanted a small tweak to our order, the food runner directed us back to our waiter). But honestly, these are minor nitpicks—the overall experience was top-notch, and we’d highly recommend it for anyone visiting Vieques. Can’t wait to return!

We made reservations through the app on the website and were immediately created with smiles and shown straight to our seats. From the wine list and cocktails to amazing duck and goat dishes, we had an amazing time.
Kristen S — Google review
2025 update- our server, Samantha (Sammy) was amazing-extremely attentive and engaging, and excellent at describing dishes we did not understand just from reading the menu. We only ate at El Quenepo one time as a splurge this year. First I had a delicious mocktail, and grilled pears while my husband had “la sopa de la noche” which was a seafood bisque/chowder. As main course, I had the yellowfin tuna “BLT,”and my husband had duck with peas and pomegranate seeds. All were delicious and innovative, as we have come to expect at El Quenepo. Google would not let me write a whole second review or I would include more detail. Quenepo is still the best, most innovative haute cuisine we have had in Vieques, but it is pricey, so we only went once this year. Written in 2024- Quenepo is the best place in Vieques I have found for a gourmet “foodie” meal. We dined in for the second time tonight and it was amazing! We were greeted at the door and escorted to our (reserved) table. Our server, Adam, was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and noted every detail. We started with a piña colada and a tall glass Moscow mule. Adam understood exactly what we wanted, and both drinks were expertly made. Our appetizers were the Mariscada Martini (ceviche) and the mesquite grilled prawns. I cannot overstate it- the ceviche was the best I have ever had-fresh squeezed citrus, tomato, jalapeño, fresh ginger, and cilantro -served with crisp arepas. My husband had the pan seared Long Island duck breast over fontina risotto cake with mission fig ratatouille and pomegranate molasses, and I had the Sicilian shellfish sautee over linguine. Both were outstanding!

Update: 2025 Last year i gave this place 5 stars, this year it’s not even close. It’s hard to judge a restaurant based on one experience, but that’s the business. The service is still slow and not excellent. The fish and ceviche are very good. Do not get steak here! They have no clue what medium rare means and the price is 67$. It’s still an ok choice for fine dinning and still not cheap. The drinks are still good. 2024: Great food, but somewhat limited menu. Probably one of the best on the island. Service is slow, but not unusual for the area. Great drinks. Make a reservation here. Not cheap.
Dmitry G — Google review
This is our fourth visit to Vieques since 2018 and our second time dining at El Quenepo. Tonight's meal was one of the best meals we've ever on the island, which is saying something, as we've had some very memorable experiences in previous visits, both here and at other restaurants on the island. We are always amazed at the culinary expertise and experience that can be found on this tiny little island. We had the Yellowfin Tuna “Poke" and Warm Housemade Focaccia Bread for appetizers, the Yellowfin Tuna BLT and Filet Mignon for entrees, and the Goat Cheese Cheesecake for dessert. The Filet Mignon was melt-in-your mouth tender and the combines flavors of the Yellowfin Tuna BLT, with the tomato, arugula, tuna, pancetta, and sauce, were amazing. If you've made it to Vieques, but haven't visited El Quenepo, do yourself a favor and make reservations. Be prepared for the "island time" service experience, which isn't a bad thing. This place is always at or near the top of our 'must visit' list when we come to Vieques and we highly recommend it.

I cannot believe how amazing this restaurant was. Creative cocktails and imaginative, extraordinarily prepared food. Service was top notch. Hard to believe this restaurant is in a small beach town and not a big city. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Bananas is a popular spot in Esperanza, offering a relaxed atmosphere with playful rain-forest murals and teal-colored tables. The menu features dishes like red snapper sandwich, jerk chicken, and Caribbean salads. The highlight is the deep-fried bananas with hot honey sauce. With an airy timber-built venue overlooking the ocean, it's an ideal place to enjoy island living vibes while sipping on tropical cocktails like pina coladas and mojitos.
Had a wonderful time with my wife. Rooms were very clean and air conditioning functioned very well. Hot water is always nice. Food was great, the Ahi Tuna bites were crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth tender on the inside. Truly the best fried calamari I've had, light, fluffy, yet crispy batter and the calamari itself was tender not rubbery. Signature cocktails were great and the hospitality was wonderful, shout out to Kayla and Kate for providing wonderful service. The location is incredible, right on the water with beautiful sunset views on the rooftop. Horses roam the streets and they are friendly and loving. A magical place with plenty to walk to. Highly recommend

*This is a review based on the restaurant only* We were nervous to go to a 3.9 stars restaurant initially then I realized the restaurant and the guesthouse are combined which I didn’t think it was that fair. And to the review below, no restaurant is obligated to split bills, they have this rule on their website and the menu. Anyways, our options were limited on a Monday night (same with Sunday) as many places were closed but their menu has a ton of options unlike other places we’ve gone on the strip. I really wanted the whole fried fish but that was sold out just before I got there (around 7:30pm) so I got a trio seafood with 3 different types of fish with lobster risotto. Which was good but not something I’d order again (I don’t like peppers.) My husband got carne Fritas with plantains and rice and beans - which were amazing! Crispy yet tender at the same time. Good flavor too. Generous portions which we took home and had leftovers for breakfast before our ferry ride in the AM. Our “small” hot honey wings came with 10 pieces, which were small and the flavor was alright, it itched my wings cravings lol. Oh and we got rum and coke and mudslide which were not skimmed on alcohol. It was an overall positive experience for us, which made it better with Daniel our server, who was so attentive and kind.
Melody R — Google review
The restaurant is pretty good! Food was great, we ordered fish tacos and chicken tenders. We all really liked our orders, I enjoyed that they uave coleslaw and it was good. Service was great, our server was nice, friendly and warm. However, they don't split checks which is a big bummer! Also, they charge an 18% "service fee", which is really the tip and is OPTIONAL in Puerto Rico but they charge it as a mandatory fee. Should be left up to the customer. And i'm the kind of customer who always tips; but it's a choice.

We ate at Bananas Beach Bar twice during our stay in Vieques, and both times the food was absolutely excellent — big portions, super tasty, and perfectly cooked. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and special shoutout to Kiara, the owner’s daughter and the sweetest hostess ever (give Kiara a raise ). Overall, an amazing experience — highly recommended! 🌴✨

This review is for the restaurant only. We were greeted immediately upon entry. The cocktails were delicious. We ordered the calamari, mahi bites and chips and salsa. All were delicious! They had excellent side dips for the fish. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant
Tammie P — Google review
We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant yesterday. Both the main dishes grilled red snapper (also did not taste as fresh as what you would expect in an island like Puerto Rico) and pork chops seemed unseasoned. The “homemade” guava cheesecake was not good either. Not creamy and the guava taste was almost nonexistent - just a small swirl of guava jam on top. Maybe because it’s off season and all the regulars are on vacation. The drinks (non alcoholic passion fruit shake and a frozen banana alcoholic drink) were also mediocre for the price $7-9. We were the only ones there but the waitress wasn’t clearing our plates before we had a dessert.
Rhonda R — Google review
Listen I’m never this judgmental about a place because I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. The food was just not good. The burger was burnt and no flavor. The pork chops were soggy and fried to a state that just made it worse. On an island where we’ve been to multiple times we’ve tried all kinds of food and some amazing some bad, the only way to state this restaurant was BAD. Too great of a location to have food this bad. Disappointing.
Jonathon A — Google review
Service was good, food came out hot and fresh. The food however was not good. Alfredo was watery and flavorless. Lobster risotto was way too mushy and flavor okay. Fish and chips were good. Paella was about a 3out of 5. Shrimps were a pretty good size. Overall, I would not return.

Duffy's Esperanza is a popular hangout in Vieques, known for its lively atmosphere and elbow-to-elbow bar seating. The owner is a charismatic figure who enjoys chatting with locals. The menu offers more than just standard beach fare, featuring specials like conch fritters, scallop ceviche, grilled rib eye, and pan-seared pork loin. Additionally, wraps, sandwiches, and fried finger foods are available.
I decided to try Duffy’s after seeing the great reviews and it did not disappoint! The experience was fantastic from start to finish. Our server gave some great recommendations. I went with the spicy crab and seafood chowder which was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was lively and the view made it even better. Great food, great vibe!! 🦀🍸

Very nice restaurant with the sea just across the street. We sat by the bar on the hanging chairs — super fun! The seasonal fish was red snapper, fried perfectly and not greasy at all. The beans were also delicious. The chicken sandwich was very juicy with a big piece of chicken and refreshing seasoning. The pina colada also very good. Overall, a great experience!

We were on a trip, and it was our first time visiting Vieques. Went with a group of friends (5 of us total), and we had a great time! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. It was a fun stop during our travels, and everything came out just right. Definitely recommend it if you’re visiting the area.

Duffy’s was cool! We went for the vegan options which are extremely limited in Vieques. A good portion of the menu could be veganized by substituting with the Praegger veggie burgers. We had the faux fish tacos, burgers, and plantain canoe (maduros). We also had rice, beans, fries, and piña coladas. It was all delicious! The restaurant is situated facing the water and the ambiance is wonderful. It was a little pricey for the portions but we enjoyed ourselves and the service was good.

Hands down best fish tacos and best Civiche ever had the joy of eating. This was our first meal so far and I will be back soon! The fun beach setting with music right on the shore makes the atmosphere perfect for a winter getaway. The staff was extremely friendly, efficient and the food came out in less than 15 minutes. Everyone was smiling and laughing that worked here and that tells me this place is truly in paradise. The random horses walking by add to the beautiful beachfront views. I highly recommend coming just before sunset. I will be dining here as much as I can before I leave the island. Hugh shout out to the chef!

One word: perfect. The best food I've had while staying in PR, in the most unexpected place. Amazing customer service, amazing food, great environment. And the view.... Oh my...

Lunch was chill here, no lines. The fresh fried snapper was AMAZING!!!! The best fried fish ever!! 2 of us finished the 3lb extra large one (we thought we couldn’t but it was so tasty)

Mexican restaurant
Coqui Fire Cafe is a popular spot known for its spicy food and hot sauces, drawing rave reviews from visitors. The cafe offers a mix of Caribbean and Mexican cuisine, with standout dishes like enchiladas, burritos, and chile relleno. It's considered an ideal date-night destination with an intimate ambiance and flavorful cocktails like margaritas and mojitos.
If I could give this place a 6/5 I would. Everything I ordered was perfection. I ordered the Carnitas and my wife ordered the catch of the day along with some appetizers and drinks. There was nothing we tasted that wasn't better than almost everything we've previously had in n the island. We sat next to a couple that explained they come here for vacation every year and make it part of their mission to visit this restaurant because of how outstanding the food is. They have a vast array of different hot sauces for all the spice lovers and if you come on a special day you can potentially catch the chefs homemade one time only concoctions.
Sean G — Google review
Small, charming, lovely place for an excellent meal. Make reservations! We had the catch of the day served over yucca. This will make you very happy. Also the blackened shrimp with mole was quite good. The brownie with raspberry sauce was quite scrumptious. The cocktails were fun. This was the best meal in Vieques. Seriously, go here at least once. The service is great.
Angela B — Google review
Best meal I had on the island! Lucked out by snagging a bar spot last minute so you’ll definitely want to make a reservation if you’re in a group. The bartender and staff made us feel right at home. Ordered the carnitas and enchiladas which seemed like simple dishes, but they were packed with flavor! It is reasonably priced and you get large portions. Their homemade hot sauces were served as a tasting flight with dinner and are available to buy online so you can always have a kick of Coqui Fire in your own home kitchen. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Melissa H — Google review
A fantastic find after a day of exploring beaches and the island. Their menu had plenty of labeled vegetarian options and was easily customizable. We loved sampling their hot sauce, though sadly, it wasn’t carry-on friendly. The chips, salsa, and guac were outstanding, and the drinks were unique and delicious. We tried the veggie burrito and salad, which were both excellent, while a friend raved about the chicken taco. The only letdown was the carrot cake with an oat-based layer—it wasn’t great. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and worth the visit. A must-try spot in Vieques!
Ramya A — Google review
From the outside the place doesn’t look anything special, and we were very cautious to eat there, as days before I had very bad food poisoning resulting in stomach sickness, diarrhea, 3-day fever, and skin rash (I even visited Vieques emergency room)… but there was not many places open on Jan 1, so we decided to give it try given the reviews. And oh my - it tremendously exceeded our expectations. We ordered Coqui salad which was simple, fresh, and healthy. My boyfriend ordered blackened shrimp and I got catch of the day - pan seared tuna. The food was tender and flavorful. After 10 days in Vieques it was one of the best meals we had on the island. And the staff were very friendly. And my stomach seems to be more than ok 😊 highly recommend!!
Ale X — Google review
If you are looking for whitewashed Mexican food this is the place for you. Everything was bland and non authentic. I live in Northern California and I am blessed with excellent authentic Mexican food restaurants everywhere, this is definitely not aauthentic. To begin, the rice was basmati, the mole sauce for the enchiladas was ground up black beans, no cocoa or spices, and the chicken was flavorless. Just to make things worse, our hostess is waiting for us as we walk in and in a heavy German or Nordic accent instructs us to walk in and as we walk, stop at a podium, quickly take a picture of the menus and then hurry to the back of the restaurant to our table. Very precise and militaristic. Finally, dessert options straight from Costco, Reese's Cheesecake! Next time I am in Vieques I will make a point of avoiding this place. Not for me.
Steven P — Google review
This is the first restaurant from San Juan to Vieques with acceptable customer service!!! Our waitress, Katie, was attentive, friendly, and welcoming! She answered all of our questions and was informative. The food was TOP OF THE LINE!! This is the best meal we have had our entire trip. Thank you for the finest meal for the end of our family vacation! We are beyond grateful!!!
Cassandra L — Google review
Food was delicious! Service was incredible. So nice, friendly, very warm and helpful. We had the house salad and queso fundido for appetizers. Our entrees were breathtaking… I had the catch of the day it was a yummy, fresh and tasty red snapper, the combination of the frijoles pureé, the lime mole and topped with pineapple. You have to try it. We also had the carnitas so tender and tasty with a tomato jam. Oops almost forgot about my delicious drink, citrus, a little bit spicy and balanced rum punch. You get to spend time with local and tourists. Such a nice atmosphere. We will definitely will be back in the future. But if you see this review please enjoy for us.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Vieques, Tin Box Vieques Restaurant and Bar is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to refuel after a day soaking up the sun. This charming eatery boasts an inviting atmosphere and exceptional service, making it perfect for beachgoers. The menu is a delightful mix of fresh seafood, BBQ chicken and pork, flavorful fish tacos, juicy steaks with homemade fries, and even sushi options that highlight local ingredients like spiny lobster.
*Call ahead to make reservations* We were lucky to get a seat! Unbelievable food, experience, and atmosphere! This may be the best restaurant I've ever been to. Sushi, BBQ – everything was fantastic. All 7 of us (parents and kids) enjoyed every bite; our kids all agreed this is our favorite restaurant on and off the island. Samantha, our server, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend!

This restaurant was recommended and it did not disappoint. The service and food were great. Open air seating, but it was very breezy and comfortable. We enjoy the experience.
Greg B — Google review
Tin Box Treehouse – Dinner Review Perched among the palms just outside Esperanza, Tin Box pulls off the rare trifecta of killer food, laid-back vibes, and service that feels like old friends catching up. Here’s the breakdown of our night: ⸻ Highlights • Service (11/10) Our server, Samantha, deserves her own line on the menu. She greeted us with a grin, answered every “What’s this sauce?” question, and somehow slipped island history into drink recommendations. When my toddler’s fork took a header off the deck, she reappeared with a fresh one before I could blink. Absolute heart of gold. • Ambiance (10/10) Imagine an oversized treehouse strung with Edison bulbs, a gentle trade-wind breeze, and swing seats at the sushi bar. Horses clopped by underneath while a local guitarist played Jack Johnson covers. If you’re looking for a “this is the Vieques I came for” setting, this is it. • Must-order plates • Badass Bacon – Candied, house-cured strips served in a mason jar. Sweet-smoky perfection and the fastest way to shut down table chatter. • BBQ Trio Platter – Ribs that slide off the bone, juicy pulled pork, and smoky chicken—with sweet-potato fries that disappeared faster than the meat. Perfect split for two. • Catfish Tacos – Crispy, flaky fillets, bright cilantro crema, and just enough jalapeño heat. A surprise standout. • Hush-Puppies – Listed as a side, but trust me: they’re dessert. Drizzled with local honey, light as beignets. • Drinks Frozen margaritas here are dangerously smooth—classic lime for me, passion-fruit for my wife. Samantha steered us toward a virgin mango colada for the kiddo, and we all left sipping happy. ⸻ Tiny Quibbles • The Sesame Ahi Tuna looked beautiful but ran a touch salty for our taste—still good, just overshadowed by that bacon. • Island pacing is real: entrées hit the table 25 minutes after apps. Nothing outrageous, but worth noting if you’ve got an overtired toddler. ⸻ Bottom Line Tin Box isn’t just a meal; it’s a tree-top evening you’ll brag about when you get home. Between Samantha’s five-star hospitality, plates that nail sweet–savory balance, and a setting straight out of a surf-lifestyle magazine, this spot earns a solid 5 / 5 from our crew. Go hungry, order the bacon first, and save room for those honey-kissed hush-puppies.
Giovanni A — Google review
Such a fun place. The service was quick and knowledgeable about the menu. We had sushi lasagna and BBQ trio. Both were fantastic. Fresh, local juices in the drinks
Terry B — Google review
Very unusual place both with menu selection as combination of BBQ and sushi. The baked beans side was amazingly different with heavy cilantro and other Caribbean flavors, and ribs and chicken great too. The multi level seating gives terrific views of the jungle backyard with several varieties of birds. However the choice of background music (80s disco and similar) really negated the ambiance, especially at a loud enough level to make talking difficult. It might be more supportive of the ambiance created by location to instead have microphones amplifying the natural sounds of the jungle for diners to enjoy. That might complement the food, or at least have music like new age instrumental that might lean toward sounds of running water and chines to better complement the sushi theme. The experience while tasty was discordant, creating uneasiness versus pleasure. There’s a lot of potential here to be better by focusing more consistently on what the intented essence is and do that very well. Also while BBQ had so many positives (although not he pulled pork wasn’t anything special), the calamari was way over cooked and tasteless.
Cindy R — Google review
This is the first time I've been to a restaurant that had sushi and something else and it's was good. The sushi on its own is great. The smoked ribs were perfection. Jalapeño watermelon margaritas were super tasty.
Jose D — Google review
Cool all-outdoor restaurant with very interesting and unique flavor pairings, fresh ingredients, and well presented dishes. Only frustration was that my initial draft beer request took a very long time to fulfill, but food came quickly after. This place has lots of seating including booths for larger parties.

Located in the downtown area of Vieques, Biekes Bistro is a top choice for those seeking gourmet dining. The restaurant offers a wide array of appetizers including Argentine turnovers, fish nuggets, pork chicharrones, and creamy conch plantain. The main dishes are equally enticing with options like lobster tail, whole red snapper, and churrasco.
We loved the place. During week and on Saturday they have an offer and main dish includes also side dish in final price. The employees were very friendly and attentive. Our waiter gave us also some advises about the island. Really good place to go for a dinner/lunch. It is closed on Sundays. We paid three of us 50usd. The portions are very generous and delicious. Definitely would come back. Thank you!

I got the chicken Mofungo-absolutely the best I have ever had. Wow, it was so good. My husband got the fish tacos, which were delicious too. Solid we stopped for lunch.

This place was pretty good. We got the pork chop, the meat turnover and the meat paella. It was not amazing, but good. The service was good and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the perfect weather.

This was probably my favorite meal in my visit to Vieques. The beef Pastelillos are a necessity for an appetizer along with some of their house made hot sauce. I ordered the fried chicken tacos which were absolutely delicious and my wife ordered the full fried snapper with plantains. The drinks were great the food was great and it was in a convenient location from the ferry . I highly recommend giving it a try.
Sean G — Google review
The food is pretty spectacular and representative of authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. There are other options such as hamburgers, but neither my husband nor I had any of that type of food. We first went to Biekes Bistro in January 2024, and ate there several times. My husband ate at BB several times on this visit. I only ate there once this trip (January into February). My husband had the piña colada, which I tasted. It was delicious, and as you can see, variegated in color. I am really not sure what the red component was, maybe just grenadine, but a lot of sweets on the island include guava, so possibly guava. We both ate the yucca fries, which are served with a really delicious dipping sauce. They were freshly made, HOT and crisp. I had the mofongo relleno with shrimp in a garlic sauce, which was outstanding. There is also the option of Creole seasoning (criolla), which I thought would probably be too spicy for me. The garlic sauce was VERY garlicky, which was great for me, but might not be for everyone. The presentation was beautiful! My husband had the pastelillo carne, which is essentially a fried meat pie, which he said was delicious. He also had the paella, which our server said was meant for two. It appeared to be enough for four to me. It was also quite delicious. We had maduros (sweet plantains, fried) and I wish I could have eaten more. As it was I was only able to eat one yucca fry and one maduró due to eating so much mofongo that I had no room left! The service was ok. The dining space and restroom were basic, but it was air conditioned, which is not always a given in Vieques.

Loved the food. Lovely staff, chef is amazing. Only negative note is that they increased all prices since the last menu picture 2 months ago for example medalla costed 3.50 instead of 2.50, and so on.

An absolute standout dining experience! The food was exceptional — easily the best we had during our entire vacation. The fish tacos were incredible — perfectly seasoned, fresh, and bursting with flavor. Every bite showed real attention to detail. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food!

Their food tasted impressive, one of the best restaurants on the island. Their mofongo is one of the best ones in Puerto Rico, flavorful and not too dry. Fish curry was impressive. I drank my first pina colada here and started loving it. There was a lovely cat in the patio. However, it took almost one hour to get these tasty entrees when there were few customers. The female bartender even was impatient and rude when I had to check out quickly to go to the beach.

Puerto Rican restaurant
Restaurante Bili is a must-visit spot in Puerto Rico, known for its signature drink called Bili, which is made by fermenting rum with the tropical fruit Quenepas. This local favorite captures the essence of the Caribbean and is especially popular during the summer months when quenepas are in season. The process involves infusing white rum with quenepas, vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon before allowing it to cure in a dark place for about a month.
The food was absolutely incredible — we got the appetizer sampler, chicken & mofongo, paella puertorriqueña, the sangría, & the piña colada tres leches cake. The chicken was easily one of the best pieces I’ve ever had — you can taste the char of the grill & it was so moist and flavorful. Could not recommend Restaurante Bili enough!!
Krista W — Google review
Ate twice here while visiting. Relaxed vibe, kind and friendly staff, nice drinks and delicious food. I eat a plant based diet which limited my options, but I found 2-3 great choices there, and all were made with care (not just meat dishes without the meat). The vegetarian paella was especially delicious! I heard the seafood one was too. Highly recommend.

Restaurante Bili is definitely a very popular restaurant, in a bustling part of town; and it tends to be busy each and every day (for dinner) that they are open!! So, I say all this to say - make sure to make a reservation if you’d like to avoid a long wait &/or disappointment with there not being a table available. We were extremely lucky to have gotten a table with a relatively short wait on a busy evening. Likely because it was within the last hour of the restaurant’s opening!! Now - on to the best part… the FOOD! The creamy pumpkin soup with an arepa was really delicious!!! Full of flavour, prepared with passion and love and I would definitely go back for more! For our mains, my sister and I decided to both have the seasonal fresh caught fish with Puerto Rican yellow rice - YUMMMM! My only regret is that the fish was not big enough… I would have loved MORE! Overall this was a great dining experience.

Absolutely recommend Restaurante Bili! We got right in at 6:30 on a Tuesday. The staff was super friendly and attentive without making us feel rushed. We had the appetizer sampler which was three small bites of each option which was so good and perfect for two people. I wish they bottled the chimichurri they have with the Empanadas! The cod fritters are SO good and not too fishy. Great for kids who like fish sticks. The mofongo bite - delightful. The corn and cheese bites with tomato jelly are the sweet treat of the plate. We also ordered the lobster, as its caught locally, and did NOT regret it! Grilled to perfection, juicy on the inside and served with lime and butter. It was large enough for two people to split, as well as the portions of rice and beans. The rice was cooked to perfection and the beans you could tell had been cooked low and slow, so much flavor! We also saw that the chef cooking our lobster was a woman, even better! ;) Grilled plantains came with the chef as well and were the perfect dessert. So, compliments to the chef it was absolutely delicious! Dont sleep on this spot.

We arrived in Vieques late on a weekend and happened to stumble upon this spot by chance, as many other restaurants were closed. We’re so glad we did! Everything—from the food to the service was absolutely wonderful. The staff was incredibly attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. The highlight of our meal was without a doubt the grilled lobster—hands down the best either of us has ever had! If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and make sure to stop by.

This place is a solid 4.5 stars. Everything is good, but slightly overcooked. Drinks were excellent.

We really enjoyed our meal! The staff was so nice and there are lots of options for people who don’t feel like red meat. I had crab pasta and my husband had a great chicken dish. The drinks were good too.
Suzann S — Google review
Amazing service. Food is good. We got the sampler and tostones con ensalada de carrucho. Bacalaitos is my favorite. Very flavorful. Then chicken empanadas is my second favorite. I like the chimichurri sauce a lot. I like appetizers better than entree. Grilled lobster and whole red snapper are good, but not the best I’ve had.

Lazy Jacks is a beach bar located on the Malecon in Esperanza, offering a laid-back tropical island vibe. During the day, it's a relaxed spot to enjoy coffee at the attached Window Cafe or savor rum-infused options. In the evening, it transforms into a lively cocktail destination. The menu features large pizzas perfect for sharing with family or friends and various pub foods.
Food is chill, drinks are good. Love the painkiller. Service was so nice I came here twice in a week and was served both times by a wonderful server/bartender named Erin. She’s beautiful, funny, and a pleasure to speak with! Loved that there is at least one late night spot on the island. 🍹❤️
Cana — Google review
Lazy Jack's is a solid bar serving drinks, beer, shots, and food. It is not a fancy place put the servers are fun and the food is good. I had the fried fish tacos a couple times and tried several local beers. This your only real option after about 8 at night for travelers and locals alike.

Very cute simple establishment! No wait, seated right away! Very friendly staff, drink/food order taken right away. Food came out within 10 minutes and everything was fresh. We ordered Da Big Fish & Chips with fries (this can feed 2 people) and Lazy Jacks Burger with a salad! Our server was Daniel, very nice and great conversations. This is a must try place. If going at night, bring bug spray.

Lazy jacks is just a great place to grab some good grub and chill. TV's, great food, great drinks, great people.
Josh S — Google review
The burger was top tier. We could taste the charbroil, and all the veggie topping were fresh and crisp. The piña colda was delicious, but sadly they were out of whipped creme. The painkiller topped with nutmeg brought this spot from dive bar digs to a place that knows good food and great vibes. They did forget to add our order in the system, but comped an add-on with no problem. Music and music videos were great entertainment along with the baseball game.

They sale very fresh fish tacos. They taste delicious, crispy outside but tenderness of the fish is still reserved very well.

First day in Vieques. Not local food but hit the spot. Fish and chips was a huge portion. Chicken tacos were delicious. Service from Katelynn?(spelling) was great. All outdoor seating. Good view of the water.

Lazy Jacks is a solid late-night spot, serving food well into the night when most other places have shut down. It’s often the only place on the street with music and a crowd, night after night. Café Del Mar is a charming restaurant located in La Esperanza, Vieques. It offers a variety of creative cocktails and daily specials such as pulled pork sandwiches and meatloaf. The restaurant often updates its specials on Facebook, so it's worth checking out before visiting. While the takeout service may be slow at times, the food is described as incredible, with dishes like spinach dip with garlic bread and mahi pan-seared with shrimp receiving high praise.
Amazing breakfast! I had burrito with sausage (homemade salsa on the side was sooo good) and my husband had basic breakfast plate with 2 sunny fried eggs. The only thing - they are running busy and 1 waiter and 1 chief isn’t enough, but it worth waiting
Olena K — Google review
Food and vibes immaculate 😁 Seriously, the breakfast was so so good. Coffee was strong and fortifying, eggs tasted so fresh and the bread was light and fluffy and amazing. Views added to the ambience but seriously dont sleep on this place.
Mya C — Google review
The employees here are incredibly rude. I went in there for a takeout order. They told me and my friend to sit at the bar. So we did, and then the lady that works at the bar gave us a lot of attitude, she was rolling her eyes and had a nasty look. So we quickly left the place after we got our food. I left my card there by accident, I came back today to get it. The guy who gave us the takeout order said it was karma for not tipping him. All he did was give us the takeout food, we don’t sit there and eat. We didn’t asked to be seated either. Why should I give him a tip when we didn’t even eat at the place?
Nikita N — Google review
The food is very bland and the service is slow. This darker skinned bustier lady who works at the bar is so rude. Avoid this place at all costs. They just stare at you like you are a nuisance. There’s this other guy who is a lighter complexion that works with the lady, he’s rude too. I don’t know what type of employees the owner is hiring. I’ve never had an experience as bad as this one. Note to the owner: I suggest you hire kinder employees or your business is going to take a hit. Kindness gets you very far at a restaurant!
Banani R — Google review
Cocktails were really good, food was good too, especially the appetizers. The kitchen is running on the slow side and it can take time for plates to get to you. My wife would want me to put a 3 rating for her food came in a bit cold. On the positive side, food is made with fresh ingredients which implies they can run out of any menu entry. Liked the ambiance and the waitresses were really friendly.
Jérôme S — Google review
Across the street from the ocean. The food is INCREDIBLE. We had the delicious spinach dip with garlic bread and tuna tostones! Simply sublime. For dinner we had the mahi pan seared with shrimp and tuna ceviche. The drinks were amazing as well - pain killer and margaritas. HIGHLY recommend!
William G — Google review
Enjoyed two nice breakfast experiences on the waterfront. Both times was taking the food to go as I wanted to walk across the street to the beach. My experience was that the takeout was extremely slow both times (20+ minutes for one sandwich). In terms of the service, I agree with other reviewers that the staff is not overly friendly and will likely not be very attentive. I noticed on both occasions that they were very understaffed with only two members on the floor working. So if you chose to patronize Cafe Del Mar, please be patient with them. They were sold out of pancakes and bacon which seems really odd for a breakfast place. I went with the breakfast sandwich with sausage. BF got the breakfast burrito. Both were AMAZING!! We also tried the Coco Coffee which was yummy.

What a great first stop in Vieques. The bartender Jose is phenomenal and everything I saw him make I wanted next. The grouper and codfish fritters are really good, it’s great to have fish and know it’s local. Thanks Cafe Del Mar we will be back, awesome hospitality food and vibes!

Bar La Nasa is a favorite spot on the island located right on the waterfront in Esperanza. It's known for its lively atmosphere, with music that's loud enough to create a party vibe but not overwhelming. On weekends, it's a popular place for dancing and enjoying strong drinks. The owners are friendly and often engage patrons in conversation, sometimes even offering complimentary shots.
The heartbeat of the malecón! Strong pours, good prices, and loads of character. Always love going to watch the locals dance and have a good time. Carlos couldn’t be more welcoming. Is it loud? Oh yeah. Are you traveling without earplugs? Step up your game! Vieques is lively at night to say the least! If you want to unplug, unwind, meditate, enjoy silence, maybe you should look into a stay at one of the resorts.
Chrissie L — Google review
This bar is wasting the tranquility and rest of the whole neighborhood, playing extremely loud music until 5am, low quality one without caring for the other residents. They also have no one there so it's not even like people are partying and having fun. The WORST.
Lila C — Google review
Extremely loud music that disturbs the peace in the whole area. They don't care about anyone else in the neighborhood. Unbearable noise! Truly a plague for Esparanza
Aadhithya R — Google review
This place is very rude and disrespectful to the neighborhood and other business owners. They blast music all night without any consideration the others living and staying in the area. It is impossible to sleep if you are staying anywhere near this bar.
Jennifer E — Google review
Created this google account to specifically leave a review for this place. As others have mentioned, the consideration for anyone other than an occasional blackout drunk is non existent. They crank their music as loud as possible until 4 am into the open air. As I write this, I’m anchored 1/4 mile out in the bay on a sailboat and have to raise my voice to hold a conversation. Esperanza is a beautiful town with a cancer that is La Nasa. It makes the scenic cultural downtown unbearable as the noise can be heard for literal miles. This one establishment has caused me so much headache over our stay that I would not recommend Esperanza to anyone who enjoys sleeping before 4am.
Retard C — Google review
This place is the closest place in Esperanza a club; to party and dance. Music is the loudest in Esperanza, but not crazy loud. Only been here at night on the weekend, but people are dancing and the drinks were pretty strong. Very lively feel
Jeff W — Google review
We were staying at Puertas diagonally across the street and couldn't really sleep for most of our 5 nights due to the unfathomably loud music from this bar - despite there being hardly any guests they went on till the early morning. A couple of houses down we felt like we were trying to sleep in a nightclub, vibrating building and all.
Claire M — Google review

Puerto Rican restaurant
Conuco, a blend of North American and Caribbean cuisine, offers a variety of dishes inspired by the concept of a small agricultural plot. The chef's culinary expertise is showcased in creations like asparagus soup with caramelized leeks and homemade cherry tomato marmalade with artisanal white farmers cheese. Visitors rave about the delicious meals, recommending trying different entrees and desserts. The restaurant's ambiance adds to the experience, with tables nestled under sailcloth roofs in the courtyard.
My boyfriend and I dined at Conuco on May 6, 2016 and had an incredible experience. I chose a seafood and rice dish, served fisherman style in a clay crock. The food was perfect as was the ambiance, our table nestled under a sailcloth roof in the courtyard. The restaurant's savannah cat kept us due company.

Service was subpar. No attention to detail. Delays in food delivery. Fish was dry and sangria was mostly orange juice. Hair in our dessert was the icing on the cake followed by rude explanation and no service recovery. The place was cute though snd my salad was good.

Great experience. We have eaten there several times. Food is excellent. Waitress very attentive. Food came out quickly. Drinks from the bar were good tasting, although very weak, as in no alcohol. I would definitely recommend this place if you want an enjoyable meal.
GPM — Google review
We had the fried red snapper, $30 for 1.5 pounds and a seafood paella for $25. The food had good flavors bit was very salty.(I have finished two bottles of water since I left the restaurant, I am still thirsty) I asked our wait staff if we can get some white rice to balance out the saltiness in the paella, without hesitation she said no and she insist in charging us $5 for it. She also spent a lot of time talking to another table and serving them, stopped at our table only twice during the 1.5 hours that we were there. Another staff was kind enough to ask us how we were doing, refilled our water and got us our check. I will not return to this restaurant again.

After reading a few positive reviews, and in search for new places, we came to this place on a monday (which could be an explanation of our odd experience). The place was empty, and a couple running it was sitting in/near a hammock. The lady spoke english, and looked like she was in charge. She said they had only a few items on the menu, no wine, warm beer, and cash only. We decided to proceed (mistake). Ordered 3 dishes: lobster chunks, crab stew, and fish. Each came on a piece of lettuce with fried plantains. Lobster was fine, crab ok, fish not good at all. We also asked to put 3 cans of beer (medalli only) into the freezer, and finally had them. Each dish was between $20 and $25. We have not seen anyone else until we left. Very odd experience, considering other reported a bar and some life there. Advise - if you see it empty - clear away.

Cositas Ricas *Homemade Taste* offers a delightful experience with its authentic homemade dishes. The empanadas and steak skewer are highly recommended, providing a burst of flavor that's hard to beat. While the carne frita with tostones is delicious, it may be wise to opt for more empanadas instead. The prices are reasonable, making it an affordable dining option. However, some customers have noted that the service could be improved and that the opening hours seem irregular.
