Takeout order, cold winter night. I ordered Palek Paneer, Lamb Korma and plain naan. Good customer service - the order was ready very quickly and still piping hot when we arrived home. There was a decent serving of rice and both curries were delicious with the med hot spice level absolutely perfect. The chunks of paneer in the palek dish were perfectly cooked and delicious. The naan was freshly baked and great flavour and texture. I feel like the portions were good value for money. Looks like I have a new fave Indian restaurant. I CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK. Bonus*** Nice, clean cozy area with seats and a heater to wait for my order - makes all the difference in cold weather

Came here 3 years ago for a takeaway and the food was lovely. Tonight I returned and had a meal with my son. If there was one time in your life where the meal was perfect, taste was heaven and the service was 10 out of 10.....this was that moment. I have had a fair share of Indian food around the world and this place is the best hands down. I just wish I was greedy enough to eat more.

We ordered via Uber Eats, Mushroom Tikka and it was Raw. I called the restaurant to inform and ask if I can get a replacement or refunded, the girl who picked the call was very rude and passed the phone to manager who was also very disrespectful and argued that the vegetables served are supposed to be raw when it was supposed to be cooked. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money and time on places like these, they ruin reputation of Indian cuisine. Shame on you Bombay Palace Invercargill. The food here is great! Slightly pricey but staff is friendly and happy to customize spice levels to your liking. The decor of the restaurant is good too.

The food is great and served very quickly. The portions are a decent size and they have a range of spice levels that goes reasonably hot. Their mango lassi is pretty good too.

Casual cafe in beautiful gardens/surroundings. Service a bit slow but food quite nice. The soup of the day was hot and delicious. Coffees very good.

Had an afternoon tea break here after a walk in Queens Park. Ordered an Iced Matcha Latte and an Iced Mocha. The Iced Mocha was good. However, the Iced Matcha Latte was very blend with little taste. Nonetheless, a great place to stop for a rest while catching a beverage and snack.

Surrounded by green, you can eat & drink in or out. Gluten-free sweet treats available. Smiling staff and happy customers. Perfect for lunch or just a coffee/cup of tea.

I got beef nachos which were almost $30, they had a ring of chips around the edge of a small bowl which was insufficient to mix with salsa.i could not see any mince at all in the mix. I thought they had accidentally given me a vegetarian version.when I asked about it, they told me the mince was chopped up very fine. Upon further inspection, I concluded that the closest a cow came to being involved with my meal was the dairy content of the sour cream or maybe living in a field next to the factory were my 10 corn chips were made. Depressing meal.

4 of us dined here on 19/4/25 and the food was beautiful, the only thing was the mussels in the entree were extremely small, and they served more potatoes instead of a decent amount of veges, and when the meal already had potato bake on the plate. Steaks were large, juicy and cooked to perfection. Our biggest issue, that put a damper on our evening out, was the poor service. Our main waitress hardly spoke and seemed disinterested, we were rushed through our meals with mains arriving while entree was still being finished, when we asked for a little time between courses she disappeared and didn't come back! We had to flag down a different waitress to order dessert and drinks, then midway through dessert we were told they were closing at 9pm and it was now 8.45pm. The food saved the night however we won't rush back with 'service' like that.

I called two weeks advance and book table. The next thing I know they didn't took my booking. On the special day full of disappointment. Duty manager useless couldn't even handle the situation properly. Shame# poor customer Service Zero star

Mains are good, we ordered salmon and pork belly, good and juicy, but special cheesecake soooooo bad 🥲I don't think it worth 14 dollars.

Was hoping that based on the recommendation from a friend this place would be worthwhile. Very disappointed in there "happy hour" menu more like sad hour.Such a well know restaurant with a predictable menu. Expensive for what it is and food doesn't really worth. Note: Half star. We had dinner here last Monday night and had an absolutely amazing dining experience. Cool vibe with the surroundings and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the seafood chowder! And the staff were so friendly! We loved the whole experience :)

It's a nice and warm place, staff are very friendly. But for the food, it's a little bit disappointed. The seafood chowder was too creamy, I remembered it was very nice but now I am not really like it. The fried noodle was too dark and salty, taste was not good, I don't think it should on the menu if you can't cook it well. The price is a little bit too high for me, almost $20 per person. Others are all fine.

At last despite massive crowds at the Burt Munro challenge a cafe that stays open beyond 5pm. Great to sit at any of the three different areas. The outside street tables. Inside cafe seating or the upstairs area. Lovely coffee,beers or spirits. Plus lots of different foods. Its the service which makes the Zoo great. Little touches like a cafe with Number 35 on it (Burt's racing number for his world's fastest Indian)

This was a really creative cafe with a great atmosphere. Nice place for a hot drink, and the coffee was good!

Too busy at the time, they couldn't handle all the orders, I wait for my order about 30mins. But still recommend this cafe if you are not hurry , good atmosphere.

Went through the drive thru today, can't fault the service. Food however, I got the complete wrong salads in my sub and the bread was toasted was too much it was almost burnt. Made for a very dry sandwich with fillings I don't like. Also got a toastie for my toddler and the same thing. Was too tough for him to eat.

Well the first time i visited, i got good service and a friendly staff member. The second time, the lady was rude as. Maybe you were hungover from Saturday night. She Certainly needed to be asked "how many teeth would you like". Probably won't go back to be fair....

I really don't know why I go here as the subs are consistently terrible the worst I've had in the country. Always stuffing up orders and out of stock on key ingredients and incredibly stingy on the fillings like when asking for spinach have like 3 spinach leaves through the whole entire sub or 2 slices of cucumber for whole sub, no sauce or items you've asked extra for completely missed out of sub altogether. For the price they are now days really except better than this!

Was in subway today at Liffey street. ordered veggie Patty sub footlong and Large salad bowl. The girl serving us was friendly but manager seem racist didnt greet us straight away said will cost you 2x 6 inch sub ( for footlong sub) we said yep its fine, while the girl was still serving next customer came and ordered bacon sub manager jumped in to help serve which was great to see but she used same gloves for salads that she used to get bacon. for people that are fully vegetarian how this seem like vegetarian options? Also for Food safety point of view, it's not safe. People can be allergic to meat or are fully vegan. I really hope food safety/hygiene gets reviewed in all subway stores, seen same in most of the stores.

Im a regular and the only frustrating thing about SUBWAY is their dilapidated decades old Eftpos machine and we spend so much time hoping it will work that your good humor precipitated and a Grey cloud hovers on the horizon. Owners need to invest some money. WINDCAVE is 85 bucks a month all up inclusive of bank fees.

Got the chipotle steak salad and wow great sized portion of your an ant! Would expect the size if I was in a 5 star restaurant in New York City-! Rip off and won’t be back! Shocking!

I can’t beleive I just lucked upon this incredible chocolate shop and cafe. You can watch them make chocolates out the back. Their chocolates rival anything made in Tassie. I visited the shop daily for a week and have sampled nearly everything from mint choccies to Rocky Road. They also make chicks for special occasions like the Burt Munro Challenge. Then there is the staff. How friendly and helpful are they, Heather in particular is a total gem. The quality of their product and level of service is Seriously Good.

You would expect to find chocolate cake at a chocolate factory, but no, they didn't have any. Their brownie had a layer of cheesecake in it...what a bummer. Was not wowed by anything in their cabinet and there wasn't really much on offer so we left very disappointed.

The southern most chocolate company. Heaps of chocolate collections to choose from. A great place to buy souvenirs for friends and family! The staffs are so lovely and helpful, and made us feel very welcomed:) Tried the Chocolate Spoon, delicious!

I have a bit of a sweet tooth so maybe I’m a little biased, but I do think this was excellent. I got both a little chocolate they had made with a strawberry filling and their lotte cookie cheesecake. Both were delicious. The only reason I didn’t finish the cheesecake is because I’m trying to limit my sugar intake, but I will say I had a really tough time putting the fork down. Before I knew it half the cheesecake was gone!

Great hot chocolate with marshmallow. I just walked by looking for food in the late afternoon. When I came by this place. It came with a chocolate spoon and a generous proportion of marshmallows. A good afternoon treat! Sadly, they don't serve any savoury dishes, but why do I see people posting cheese rolls and sorts?

Bought some pinot noir chocolates today. After getting home (which is over an hour away), I sat down to enjoy this and realized I had been sold expired chocolate. Would not recommend.

Staff were efficient, meals delivered promptly. Fillet steak was tender but had been cut in a peculiar manner somehow didnt quite come together with the flavor combinations. The starter of homemade Pate was pleasant but no special flavour profiles that jumped out.

OK this is our first time dinning there. But I can't work it out why they have 4 an half stars. 😕. To my all the food I order. Not even up to 3 stars. I will give them 2 an half stars. Because the squad ring was soft . The crispy chicken n salad . I would say from frozen food. They even say Korean style chicken. ??? I can't taste any Korean style. Also not crispy at all. Next dish is pork belly. Omg. The skin was so hard. The top of fat is OK nice soft but the bottom of the pork meat has been pan fry so dry. I hate to write a comment of the restaurant of the food . If so far so good I will just let it past. But not with 4 an half stars. The cook needs think of quality control. Use heart to cook all your dishes from menu. Yourself willing to play for the dishes before you serve to customers.

I had the Bruschetta, Venison and the Lemon creme brulée. It all was delicious! I really did not expect that, even if i had a recommendation from my Motel. It is the first restaurant in NZ where the waitress did ask during my dinner in each corse, if everything was good. Well done! And a big, big compliment to the kitchen brigade. They love their job, same as i do as a chef.

Last evening I had a meal at your restaurant. my order was The Southlander requesting steak to be cooked med/rare. What i received was very disappointing. The steak (porterhouse) was not cooked to what i requested the small end being raw sinue and grisly the rest so raw it was hard to cut. I believe this to be a bad cut of steak to begin with. I was offered another but was completely put off. The lettuce on the plate was just thick leaves placed on the side of the plate. Cost $48.90. Yes I was given my desert free of charge. Waited 3/4hr for our meal. I had not eaten in your restaurant for a number of years but was so disappointed , sorry Saucy Chef we wont be back.

This was my first visit, and the food and service were faultless. I was part of a large party that ordered entrees, mains and desserts, and all came out together. No one had to wait. Staff were very accommodating, especially with kids.

A fairly large restaurant space and a good looking menu. The portions were very filling and rather large. We had the lamb rack and the goat rack (listed as shank but they didn’t have it) and both were so-so. Fairly limited selection of wines by the glass. Nice staff (as good as most places in NZ) and were quite thorough. Food takes a while to get to your table, and this was a Monday evening after 8.15 pm.

Ordered roast pork as I had had it there two weeks prior and it was a really good meal. On this occasion it was bitterly disappointing, the pork was predominantly fat. I made the waitress aware and the meal was replated with pork. However, roast vegies were burnt particularly the potato which was black. Carrots and peas (raw) were not cooked. I could not even cut through a carrot. I will never go back there.

I went here as I wanted a ‘typical kiwi roast dinner’ for my Saturday night. Achieved. A good range of options in the menu. I picked the pork roast. It was served quickly (I did turn up at 5pm to miss the 6-7pm rush). Wonderful staff. Thank you.

I have visited all but 2 Speights Alehouses in NZ and have loved every single one. Today, I managed to tick off the second to last one - Invercargill. I am saddened to say that the staff at the Invercargill premises have let the brand down. This is my first negative experience. There were 4 messy tables when we walked in, and 2 staff members were behind the bar fluffing around. We weren't greeted until we said hello to one of the barmen ourselves. We were dining in. After waiting for a good 10 minutes to try to get someone's attention, we managed to order. The young lady didn't write our order down as it was very simple and basic. Our meals came out reasonably fast, however mine was wrong and sent back. This meant that my partner ate his separately to me while I had to wait for mine to be cooked. The waiter did apologize for the error. I found this Alehouse to be lacking the warm, inviting and attentive touch. The staff just seemed a little bit too young and not interested in providing friendly service. Sorry for the stink review, but this is an honest one in hopes that some hospitality training is given. The food was niceish. Burger patty was really nice. We had to try to grab someone's attention to ask for sauce for our fries on our plates, which was out of the norm to not have that kind of condiment on the table already.

Everything was overall good! The food was nice and waiter was friendly. Could have been a bit quicker at clearing the table and offering dessert menus etc! But over all it was a good night Would also be cool to have some colouring activity’s available for children 🥰

Had a meal the other night and the young guy that served us was friendly and a touch too casual but that made him likeable. The staff are as you’d expect friendly and casual. The food whilst not Michelin star was very good and the chicken snitzel was delicious. The Ale house is what it says it is. It’s a casual place for a good meal from friendly staff.

Decided to head to the Rocks Cafe, You will be greeted by one of the Owners Sweta James. Sweta has a great personality that will guide you through the menu. Nothing is a problem even if you have fussy eaters with you, they will help out. Parking is on the street so plenty of that. They have a good range of beers and wine, as well as non alcoholic drinks available . I couldn’t go past the Sea Food Chowder. Blue Cod is not on the menu, it’s just too costly but they have another fish alternative which is just as good. I was interested to see how the Sea Food Chowder would go. Wow it was fantastic and there was plenty of bite size fish chunks in it. A lot more than I thought there would be. Very creamy indeed a very good starter. Moved onto the Surf and Turf Eye fillet . Very tender and cooked well to my Medium Rare standard . You can check the specials board to see what will be going sea food wise as with the Surf and Turf. The other meal Fillet Mignon had to be well done , this is challenge for some chiefs but not here again cooked perfect. The other diner with us had a Warm Beef Salad it also looked great and if you are a salad type , the photo says a thousand words. Deserts these are a bit smaller (about medium size I Would say) but by the time you get through your starter and main you don’t need a massive one. Again like all of this meal to date they are very good as well . Price wise I think is very good. They also have a private function room that can cater for 71 so if you’re looking for some where to go, check them out. I will be coming back to the Rocks

The food is not bad. A couple of small things could improve it. I found the chowder and sauces too salty and there were bones in the fish, but all in all it was not bad and I would go back again to try other dishes.

A Fantastic Steak Experience at Rocks! I dropped by Rocks for lunch on March 19 at 1:15 PM without a reservation, just hoping for the best. Luckily, Sweeta at the front was super welcoming and made sure I got a table—huge thanks for that! I had my eyes on the Rib Eye, but since the kitchen was closing at 2 PM, I asked Liza (from the front-of-house team) if the chef would still be okay with my order. To my delight, both Liza and the kitchen team were incredibly accommodating and let me order the Rocks Rib Eye—and I’m so glad they did! The steak? Absolutely amazing. Hands down, the best rib eye in Invercargill so far. Cooked medium rare, it was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. But what really impressed me was the attention to detail—not just the steak, but also the side salad. The vinaigrette sauce was the perfect balance of tangy and fresh, elevating the whole dish. And let’s not forget the garlic butter, which brought everything together beautifully. For $28, the lunch price for this steak is a steal considering the quality. To put it into perspective, I’ve been to some Asian restaurants in Invercargill where a simple stir-fried noodle dish (with just a little meat) costs almost the same as this high-quality Rib Eye—no contest! Huge thanks to the entire Rocks team, from the front-of-house to the kitchen, for making my lunch such an enjoyable experience. I’ll definitely be back!

Excellence service and delicious food! No wonder it’s popular! We had a group of 9. Excellent mussel, mushroom melt, seafood chowder, beef salad and hoki fish and chips! Mocha milkshake, banoffee and baked croissant for dessert! Forgot to take photos we were so hungry! Fantastic staff! Easy 5 star recommendation!

What a great meal! It was so tasty and the staff so friendly and helpful. It’s always refreshing to find a place to eat where the food is so fresh that they can easily accommodate food allergies. If I lived in Invercargill this would definitely be my favourite place! I look forward to my next visit!

We were staying nearby and looking for a nice steak place. Stumbled upon Rocks that had good reviews. True to word, the food and service was amazing! We did not have a reservation, but we were given a table in spite of it being peak dinner period. Tried the steak with blue cheese and my son had steak with mushroom. They were both awesome with just the perfect doneness and a fantastic burst of flavour when you bite through the blue cheese (I'm a blue cheese lover, for those that don't like blue cheese, you should get steak and mushrooms). They also have quite a fair bit of other dishes and the best part is that they have a small and large size for some of them - nice gesture for those who don't eat large portions. My wife ordered a pasta and it turned out quite delicious. So it's not just steaks they're good at :) Food presentation was great as evident from the pics. Service was awesome, not overwhelming, but we could feel the warmth and friendliness from everyone. When I'm back in Invercargill, I will no doubt be back here again!! Great food, warm service, nice ambience, reasonable prices, absolute value for money - what else could a hungry soul ask for? :)

Unassuming exterior hides a gem inside and weren't not just referring to Sonja (a wonderful waitress), this old charm building hosted a chef who knows how to cook! We enjoyed the oysters, blue cod and finished with a dessert. All this enjoyment was topped with Sonya's delightful hard working, smiling presence. If we were locals, we would dine here weekly!

Dining at Elegance on Ellis really is such an experience! The food is absolutely delicious and impeccably presented, the place has an elegant and cozy atmosphere and Sonja the waitress is absolutely lovely. A definite gem and very highly recommended.

After talking about it for a long time we finally got to go and dine at ELEGANCE Restaurant, Invercargill. It was great !!! The food was awesome and the staff were lovely. Our table was well positioned with street views. I'm on crutches @ mo and the staff were so kind and helped me down the back stairs which was much appreciated thankyou. Best oysters I have ever tasted. The fried ones need to be tried even if you don't think you like oysters. Beautiful service, lovely atmosphere. Sonja the waitress was super welcoming and friendly. Some of the dishes seemed a little retro which is not really my taste. But overall I enjoyed it.

Here tonite (22/03/21) for a meal for my wife's birthday. Definitely not disappointed. Many thanks to the pleasant lady serving the tables and also to the chef. The beef fillet I had and the lamb rack my wife had were both cooked exactly as they should have been and how we requested - impeccable. Lots of flavors in the food, good wine, good atmosphere and good company. I would rate Elegance highly and recommend it by all means. Well done. Would not hesitate to return.

Amazing service. I didn't catch her name but the waitress with the infectious smile. She works so hard and deserves a pay raise. Not to mention the chefs!! They're incredible. I have very specific dietary restrictions and they perfectly catered to my needs without hesitation. It's always anxiety inducing for me to go to new restaurants because of said restrictions and general social anxieties but all these employees perfectly worked to make all of us feel welcome, comfortable and fed. Definitely would go again.

We went to waxy’s to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was amazing. The stuff was amazing. Atmosphere was great and and excellent selection on the menu and very well priced.

I couldn't decide between a few of the mains as they all sounded great so I got the server to pick for me, he had a good sense of humour and didn't disappoint either haha. He picked me the pork belly and my wife had buttermilk chicken. Really generous portions, crackle on the pork was absolutely amazing. Desert was really good too.

Waxy's Irish Pub is an institution in Invercargill. A very popular spot for a few drinks with friends or a good hearty Southland meal. Meals are tasty and overall pretty good. The seafood chowder is actually creamy and delicious and full of seafood, a bargain for the price compared to other restaurants near by. The pasta and bangers and mash were nice but averge, the loaded wedges were also very run of the mill and frankly disappointing. The chicken tacos are a treat and went down well. Service was the biggest downfall, waitress seemed new, distracted and seemed stressed with her workload which meant simple items like soup spoons with the soup were missed. However 5 people and a drink $139 bucks. Very reasonable.

Terrible! Had the O'Melleys shoulder which cost $36!!! They took the fat off my pork chop. Only gave a small sachet of apple sauce, enough to cover one mouthful of meat. They gave the smallest piece of crackle. Veges average. Absolutely disappointing after a hard day at work! Service was good.

Might be the best pub in a city of dismal pubs. Bar staff are friendly. Mediocre selection of beer. Music is painfully irish at times (e.g. novelty songs by the Irish rovers).

Great big diner at the Transport Museum in Invercargill. I ordered the woffle and fried chicken and a basket of fries with aoili. Fantastic food.

Had the Big Breakfast in the afternoon because I got there late and had not eaten up till then. After that meal I didn't need to eat for another day. Big it was. The restroom was clean and very interesting as well. Went back there to finish looking g around one of the Best Transport Museums in the World.

We stopped by this cafe on our way down to Bluff. Ambience - This is such a cool cafe. The deco and the interior is worth the visit itself. Car themes permeate the place, even as far as the men's toilet, which took the term, "pit stop" to a new level. Food - we ordered a couple of items from the cabinet and the Grille Seafood Chowder. The Salmon Quiche from the cabinet is quite nice but the Seafood Chowder is simply awesome. Add some pepper and a dash of lemon to the seafood chowder and you will not be disappointed. Service - the service was great. Lots of smiles and very prompt service by the staff, especially Kahlee.

Had lunch here on the 30th Sep 2021 with my Aunty and Uncle and husband. What a great experience!!!! Such lovely staff and the atmosphere was relaxed and calm. I had a beef burger and fries for lunch - absolutely delicious and after being sick and not able to eat much this was amazing!! Husband had the lamb sliders with potato skins which he never chooses to eat! - yet he really enjoyed them. My Aunty had a cheese scone and skins. And the other meal was salmon on a potato rosti and an egg. All ridiculously tasty meals and really nice presentation too in the cool bowl/platter type plate!!! Will be back again definitely next time in Invercargill!!! Thankyou

There are few things I will give a review base on my experience. 1. The place (The Grille) It's ambiance is totally will bring you back to the 50s, 60s, 70,s or 80s the decor was amazing and the appliances vintages ones brought me back to my childhood watching the vintage TV😁 i thought that was nice and creative. I even told my wee boy 3 years old that we got old TV like it when I was in his age. He was so amazed😂. The light of the entire restaurant fit to its theme ans decorations. It's cozy and warm there. 2. The Service (staff mainly) First impression last i guess thats why I always remind myself that those people/staff working as frontline/wait person/service crew should always have the BIG smile😁 and Friendly approach not intemidating. The first staff I approach was bot so friendly in her way of talking to me. We arrived 10 mins early on our booking time. When I was so friendly in asking her about our table as I got no idea yet how they do things, like should we just grab a table or look for our table things like these...so I asked her. At first she told me that "you know that our service for this is at 6pm right, I will show your table after I'll finish this" that sounds like I was told off for coming early as she didnt smile at all, to me her facial expression and approach was not friendly. I felt upset but I didnt took it in a wrong way or let her know how i felt instead I turned and told my husband they will start serving at 6pm so we sat at the sofa in front of the fire place for 10 mins while oue boy was enjoying his play time in their play area (which is something recommendable for restaurants like The Grille) i thought this is a brilliant idea having a wee play area for kids so those couples who have kids can enjoy their time together while kids playing upon witing for the food to arrive. Thumbs up for that! Another wait/staff assisted us with our orders when the first staff finally took us to our table. My personal comments in this matter are: First, wait person should ask somebody else to help us out and guide us to our table while she was busy in the bar. She could told us, "Hi welcome to the Grille, Im sorry I cant help you but my company will take you to your table our service will be at 6pm feel free to choose for a drink" in that way we could have felt welcome. Coz honestly it was not a nice welcome after all. Next, wait person should be alert when I say alert enthusiastic, energitic and lively. 3.Food-100 percent recommended no questions with what we order we are very happy. I love that being in keto diet I have the food that I can enjoy to eat in their menu so that was well done!👏 4. Total experience 7/10 I will say I recommend this restaurant to others because there are room for change especially to the wait staff.

Lovely staff and really fresh and tasty food. Definitely recommend visitors come here. We needed something quick before heading to Bluff for the ferry and they were outstanding.

Turned up unexpectedly and was unexpectedly surprised how great the food was. Being from a big city, Emberz out did some of the big city restaurants with their menu and flavours and food choices. And it was amplified by the team on shift when we visited. Great experience. Great food. Great great great.

This was a great place for our short stop over. Rather impressed. The rooms were well appointed clean, warm, and comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and service was good. The food was large servings we had a Katszu and blue cod burgers for tea (evening meal) and dessert was good. We recomend the rum and raisins giant sandwich

Family group meal incl. Kids. Great traffic lights! and generous kids menu. Garlic bread excellent. Meals mixed from fantastic to ok. A couple were not hot enough temp wise but surprisingly had chilli in them which meant 1 person couldn't eat the meal. Otherwise generous in size. Dessert delicious.They did well with big group.

We have visited this restaurant for lunch because we were quite hungry and read that it was the best restaurant in town on various websites. I am not sure how the dinner differs so I just review the lunch I had which was roast of the day, pork belly, beetroot salad and macadamia parfait. Unfortunately I fail to understand the hype at all. The ingredients were of good quality but the taste and seasoning and cooking style was totally off. It basically tastes like English food in every way- and this is not a compliment. It looked good but it was bland. The salad was way too sweet, the veggies were way too mushy, the sauce with the pork belly was awefully english. The meat was okay and the gravy was pretty standard but also a bit bland and lacked seasoning. The Macadamia parfait was good though, but I would definitely never recommend this pace to any person who is not British.

stay Ascot many times for work. This restaurant served gorgeous foods and service. especially Thomas is very friendly and has good smile which makes other happy too. I would like to come back here with my wife and children. I would you like to recommend Butcher's burger and Roast of the day!!

Good feed, limited space and was busy.

Was part of a large party, all meals came out together, no complaints from anyone, order entrees, mains and dessert. Can't fault anything, and will be back!!

Our Whānau of 6 had a wonderful meal. Ordered online and everything was ready to devour on our arrival, cooked to perfection. The Cadillac platter had a great variety and our daughters loved their dishes. Generous portions and the JD dessert was delicious! Thank you Lone Star Team for making it extra special putting a candle on Hubby's dessert for his birthday. It was all executed better than I requested and your service from start to finish was warming, welcoming and professional. See you all for our next birthday celebration 😊

Outstanding Service and Hospitality! The staff were absolutely incredible tonight! warm, welcoming, and genuinely accommodating. When our order took a little longer than expected (over 10 minutes), they went above and beyond by covering the cost of our drinks, which we really appreciated. Special shout-out to Maddie, who was exceptionally kind and compassionate, and to the lovely Assistant Manager Shanaye, whose professionalism and attentiveness stood out. Both demonstrated outstanding customer service. Highly recommend this place for the great food and even better hospitality!

First time being at the Lone Star Invercargill, welcoming atmosphere and staff were very lovely. Food was delicious and well flavoured the chefs did an excellent job. Was attended by Chiara who was off the bat in being polite, bubbly, funny, attentive and well read at reading the play she had that night. As a waitress myself she had the right cues. Amazing at customer service. Overall experience was outstanding. Will be back. -Chloe

Great n dinner and our server, Chiara was lovely. She listened to all our children chatting and was just incredibly kind to them. She made taking the kids out for dinner just that bit easier.

Fantastic evening at the Invercargill branch. The meal was excellent. We were celebrating my 84th birthday and our waitress (George) was the best ever. Welcoming, attentive and a preally nice person. Prawn Star was the dish we had and it was greapt.

The staff were excellent especially Jaycia and the front of house Lady. Food was also awesome. We were particularly impressed with Jaycia and her interaction being there when we needed her, with impeccable manners and making a great night Cheers Laurie and Karen Henry

Amazing service for a very busy cafe. While waiting in line, the waitress asked if we wanted to reserve a table.

When we pulled up the place was very busy and we soon realised why, a great variety of cabinet food and catering to a range of dietary requirements (a list by the till including options such as keto/gf/nut free etc) the menu had great variety as well. We were in for lunch and tried the tacos as we could see nearly every table had some, and the poutine as well. Both were really well balanced and full of flavour! We were told no smoothies as short staffed however they were managing that well as food still came out really quickly and the tables were getting cleared promptly as well 🙂 Can’t wait to return and try more dishes off the menu !

Service was great. Wait staff really kept on top of it. A table was reserved for us while we ordered our food. I got the chicken tacos. Way to much sauce. It was overpowering. I also saw another customer trying to scrape the sauce off. VG coffee

5 stars don't feel like enough for this cafe! Went in with a group of work colleagues for lunch and prebooked it all as we only had an hour. Minutes after seating the food and drinks were in front of us. Food was top notch and staff were all happy and friendly. Other cafes should take notes from this establishment as it was 10/10 for everything and appeared to run like a well oiled machine from a customer point of view. Great work as hospo is not easy 🙂

The atmosphere in this café is the real highlight, it’s lively and welcoming. You’ll find all kinds of people here, from those meeting clients, students with their laptops, to friends simply hanging out. It’s a spot that suits every age. The food was fairly standard and the coffee was okay. I ordered a flat white, but it came with a bit too much froth, making it more like a cappuccino. Still, the cozy vibe more than made up for it.

Got the soup of the day, tasted exactly like a tin of pasta sauce. Wasnt nice at all, was very pricey aswell. Good service and the scone was nice tho.

They serve a nice breakfast, i ordered waffle and hubby tried their salmon bagel. Good quality of food. Cafe itself has a good ambience to have a chat and catch up with friends. Also every friday they have their special doughnut that change flavour every week. Try them on! They are the bomb!!!

Value for money! The Lamb shanks were huge and very tasty. The beers are nice, but I asked the server for something not too hoppy, and they couldn't really provide much advice other than to take the tasting paddle, which I did. Beers were hit and miss, one Golden style beer was quite nice, the rest a bit too fruity. Lovely place to sit with mural ceiling and brewing tanks in the back. Would come back, but would love a bit more advice on the brews.

Ideal Location for Festivities! My dad's birthday was celebrated here, and everything went perfectly! The location was ideal for a private conference, and the staff was welcoming and accommodating. Everyone had a terrific time, and the atmosphere made the day even more memorable. I heartily endorse this location for any type of event!

After several days walking in Fiordland National Park, I wanted a beer. A good one! I found it at Gadoochi Brewing (Tuatara Bar & Cafe), a creamy porter. The blue cod fish & chip meal with home-made tartaric sauce was delicious and the bar tender / matre d' was quietly attentive and lovely. Happy hiker here!

Stopped here for breakfast, very quiet at 7am on a Saturday morning. Nice calm atmosphere with great service, I ordered the half big breakfast for what I got was worth the price. Very tasty and filled a hole. Coffee was hot and delicious I'll be back.

Breakfast here two mornings this week. Poached eggs on toast with mushrooms. Mushrooms were big, juicy and cooked to perfection. The coffee I thought was next level. Good welcoming atmosphere. Recommended if in the vicinity. Back again, May 2023 👍🏼

Surprisingly nice place. Great day cafe, turns into pizza place at night. Shame the evening doesn't have a slightly wider menu but really enjoyed it. Great service, fantastic craft beer and cider selection.

Ordered a box of 8 which had steak n cheese, mince n cheese, cranberry chicken & Brie, seafood & creamy chicken. There were 6 of us that tried them all and had mixed reviews but overall they were really good especially the seafood & cranberry chicken were the most delicious. Delivery to Auckland was good and the packaging was amazing. They are good size fat bastard pies too:). They were filling the pastry on top was a bit too flaky but other than that good kiwi pies that are up there with some of the best bakeries in Auckland. Easy cooking instructions it only took 20mins and came out perfect.

Great takeaway for pies. Delicious and has some other baked goods. Can also order online around NZ.

Yummy,The Best Pies!!I tried the seafood pie,steak and cheese and lamb n Kumara. I Came here for the first time on our honeymoon from Auckland.Im a pie maker from award winning Patrick's Pies and I couldn't really fault the pies I had,The crust and pastry were perfect.Nice, short,buttery and flaky. The fillings were delicious,well seasoned and a almost perfect ratio.I would Probly add a touch more cheese to the Steak and cheese to cut through the richness of the gravy,but that's all.They have a very wide and unique range of pie flavours catering to everybody's taste bud with a sweets cabinet and barista coffee available,one last small addition I'd recommend is serving the very humble kiwi Cream Donut/bun. All in all,a very good and happy experience 10/10..Heaps of free parking near the store,great welcoming staff with excellent product knowledge, relatively good pricing.Recommended to all A+

Strong contender in the “best pies” debate and the best reason to visit Invercargill. We had a Bacon & Egg (solid) and Mr Mince & Big Cheese (fantastic) for breakfast, followed by a delicious custard square. Walked out with a box of fresh pies, fantastic value at 6 for $36. Standout had to be The Big Nude Seafood, followed closely for me by the Southland Mutton, and all the pies I chose were winners. The pastry is outstanding and the size and fillings are truly impressive, they are quite a meal! They heat really well at home so well worth taking away. Friendly helpful service, definitely will return or get my craving sorted with an online order or two.

Had chicken & cranberry 9.5/10 & pepper steak 8.5/10... very peppery which is what you'd expect, but too much for me. Still ate it . Lovely pastry & filled me up all day, that means they've used good real produce.

Can definitely see why the queue was out the door! Had heard about Fat Bastards pies in Christchurch and in Invercargill and had to visit. Big nudes Seafood pie absolutely divine! Think I'll have to subscribe to get my fix sent to me.

The pastry was the best part. A bit on the salty side for my liking, but it was cooked to perfection. I had steak and mushroom. There was a herb used, I'm not 100% on my identification - I think it was Thyme. The overall flavour was too heavy, very earthy. I expect it to be earthy, but this was over the top, the Thyme dominated. I couldn't 'taste' the mushroom because the flavours weren't balanced. There was very little gravy and it was very punchy. The beef-: could have been amazing but it was so dry and over cooked that it got stuck in my throat. The beef fibres were very tight. To their credit there was no gristle- this was awesome. New Zealanders', we love our pies and we are probably some of the worlds biggest critics. What's needed: Less cooking time- allow for reheating and put that on the bag! Less pepper, less salt, flavour balancing More gravy A steak and mushroom pie should be a serving of a steak and mushroom casserole encased in a yummy pastry

Delicious early lunch today with work mates. Best Mushroom Eggs Benny I have had for a while. Fabulous service, pre ordered food so came out 5 minutes after arrival, bang on time. Cafe can be coolish because its fairly open to the small mall it opens onto (non southlanders were a wee bit chilly) . Haven't been for a while so will be back!!

I’ve been to this café a couple of times with my partner, and the service has always been great. Even without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed. The waiter was kind enough to move us to a warmer, more comfortable spot when it became available (we were originally seated in front of the cashier). The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. The view was just okay – but hey, it’s winter! Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for a nice brunch.

Great place to stop in for a really yummy breakfast. The relish was very nice too. We arrived just as they opened and with a few more people turning up at the same time, it did take a tad longer to be served but understandable.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Lorneville. We were greeted by a most friendly waiter who promptly showed us to our seat. We ordered chicken filo, shrimp salad, tea and a large flat white. The shrimp salad was divine but the flat white was acidic and sharp. This was not to my liking but others may like their coffee this way.

Just our go to local cafe and restaurant. Consistently great food with friendly welcoming wait staff. Looking for a breakfast that never disappoints then you just want to make this your first choice. In the heart of Windsor a suburb that has many bespoke stores that will simply delight you every time you drop in to do some suburb shopping.

Here on Wednesday 24th June with my partner for breakfast. My first time in this establishment. Served by a young Asian lady who did her utmost and was most polite and apologetic over a misunderstanding on my order which was as much my own fault. Owner/Manager quickly had it sorted and corrected and therefore I have nothing negative at all to say about the service. Food was good and you got what you asked for. Marginally pricey but certainly not excessively so. We were more than happy to have come here and would be just as happy to return in the future. Outlay and look of the place was fresh with a slight industrial type look and was quite appealing. Highly recommended.

Lovely staff, very tasty flavourful food and Devine coffee!

So our visit was unfortunate this time. Usually when I come here it's great however this time it missed the mark hugely. The nachos were really bland and cheese was not melted properly, the iced mocha was really watery and lacked any sort of good flavour. The eggs were overcooked. No one meal checked us at all, and there was no water available either for our table. While I was in the bathroom the light went out and no switches, might be a sensor thing but when I waved around nothing happened, I tripped and smacked my head in the bathroom. I then let the young ginger haired girl know who was at the counter and she said "oh... sorry what toilet was it?" I let her know and that was it, and had no comment about the food or coffee. I hate letting people know when stuff was bad, and I was incredibly polite but no attempt to repair the situation was made at all. I'm really gutted about this. Visited today (saturday) at 12.

I ended up walking out of this cafe today after paying $21 for stale scones with cream out of a can and waiting a ridiculously long time for tea for two...only to eventually get 2 large mugs dropped off at our table, later followed by a large teapot that would have been lucky to fill one of the mugs. There was one paltry teabag floating sadly within the teapot, creating tea so weak it was helpless. There was not even an offer of milk. Service was slow and indifferent. In the end we walked out leaving most of the stuff untouched. Things were a bit average last time we were there a few weeks back but we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, this time was even worse.

Very disappointed with both our meals. Eggs over done. Roast with vegetables overcooked. 2 slices were stale. Service was nice.

I ordered a meal worth $80. Door dash went to pick it up and the store is closed. Can not get ahold of anyone. Very dissapointed to waste that much money.

Fabulous breakfast. New gave café in Invercargill. Amazing coffee. Even the bread is great, homemade. 👍😍 Omelette absolutely packed with fillings. Will be back. Often!

As a group we really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the food was divine. However a few too many hiccups in the service with the lady getting it wrong about 6 times, bringing the wrong order to our table or missing something out completely. I think as a friendly suggestion it would be good to have a table number to ensure mixups didn't occur

What an incredible find! My husband and I weren't sure where to eat but after a walk around a few streets we discovered Global Bite. We saw lots of people eating so that was a great sign. We were served by a school boy who was absolutely delightful. He was friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome. The fries were fantastic and very generous, and our bagels super tasty. So many hidden flavours! My husband loved his coffee. He loves a flat white with hazelnut and this beautiful cafe served the perfect ratio of coffee and hazelnut. My English breakfast tea was great, and I was very pleased to have sweetener. I need this. The service was so genuine, professional and welcoming, and the cafe gets everything right. We wish we had this place in Christchurch, as we'd be regulars! Thank you so much for such a great experience. I think the owner must be the blonde lady? Absolutely amazing. Such a genuine person. Thank you.

Lunch for 2. Toasted sandwich (big thick one with loads of filling), seafood chowder (tasty, creamy, not a obvious chunks of seafood, but was very nice, came with a little bread. Add tea, and a smoothie (which was very good according to my husband), and a piece of fudge $47 bucks. Staff were lovely and food delivered in a timely fashion. Lastest visit disappointed with our eggs, hard poached eggs! Criminal!

Best mocha I've had yet! Breakfast was amazing! We had the all day breakfast, wedges & salmon bagel. Have returned several times since and service has been consistent 👌🏽 Pics are same meals & mochaz but different days. Have become a regular. Keep up the great service guys!

Spacious, large selection of sweet and savory baked goods. I loved the moist Belgian waffles drizzled with maple syrup, yogurt and berry compote. Mocha was excellent (though I’ve yet to find a place in New Zealand during my visit that doesn’t serve excellent coffee.)

We went here for lunch on Sunday.. We found that the food was very average.. The end of the sausage roll was hard and dry, the toast sandwich was sprinkled with an unusual sauce, and there was too much seasoning in the bread filling. So it Took over the taste.

It is a wonderful lil cafe by the road to Queenstown from invercargill. The customer attention that they give is really sweet. It's really affordable. I found the place really cute. The food is delicious and the attention to detail is amazing. The staff is really friendly. If i lived here, this would be my go to cafe.

Great food and even better front of house staff. Brilliantly made coffee. Lovely people here that give you a warm welcome and know how to make a good coffee. My ham, cheese and onion omelette was also very good.

The scoops of chips are tiny. $10 worth of chips was just enough to go with our steak and salad for 3 people. Scoop of chips is $3.50. I asked for $5 worth. I had to order another $5 scoop to cover 3 people.

Ordered 2 pieces of fish and one scoop chips for 2 people. Batter was uncooked and inedible. One piece of fish had hardly ant dish in it and the other had more fish but batter on both was slimy and uncooked. Chips were tasteless and not worth eating. Rang shop and they said to ask for extra cooking next time...

services was great and chips were so good were taste of heaven and cooked just perfect and liked there curry roll too i would happily go back.

Let's be honest, I could tell you about the boring old decor or whether the customer service is friendly and welcoming. But that's not what you want to know. You want to know if the chips taste good, if the portions are big and if you are getting good bang for your buck. I don't branch out when I buy fish 'n chips, so I have no idea how many options the menu has. Pictured you see my standard 1 scoop, 2 potato fritters, 1 piece of fish order. Yes it's a lot I know, but my fiancée isn't marry me for my body - she's marrying me for my sense of humour. I find myself always coming back to the herbert st takeaways. The portions aren't the biggest I've found else where, but the chips sure are some of the best. They aren't too greasy, and they aren't too salty. My potato fritters are always a little salty but that is just how I like it. The blue cod here is incredible. If you are visiting invercargill you have to make sure you try the local blue cod at least once while you are here! Blue Cod is always more expensive then Hoki (pictured), but it tastes far better.1

$10 chips? Disgraceful!!

Wasn't sure about trying it as it looked a little old and run down but the food was sure worth it and they had bluff oysters right at the start of the season. We had burgers so I can't tell you about the fish but the burgers were very good as were the chips and my son loved the corn balls(weren't really balls more like cylinders). To top it off they had garlic butter which is my son's no.1 priority. Prices were a little steep though.

Take out blue cod at its best. Its been a long time since I have had Fishnchips from here. However the blue cod is as good as it ever was, nice piece size, flakey and white, and well hung. Chips crispy and a generous portion. One of only a few fishnchip shops open Sunday lunch.

Service was amazing, no doubt about it. However, food was taking quite long even when it was not so busy. We had the top photo a while ago, and we came in today ordered the same dish, but got exactly the different thing (bottom photo). Such a disappointment, fish was not crispy at all, sauce didn’t taste the same.

Good value for the lunch buffet. Popular items that were replaced frequently were yum; the fried things that were left out a bit long had lost their cripness. Staff was welcoming.

well，after check the comments here, we decided to try it, as my kids were keen on the ice cream! The food was ok, above our expectations. There were not many choices but it is fine considering in Invercargill. Location is great and the restaurant is clean. We had good time but was disappointed at the end: we were told $23 for buffet, and $20 for my yr 11 and $12 for the yr 7, however we were charged $29 for one adult when checking out. As we mentioned the offer, the reception refunded. This was not a pleasant experience. If you decide to go for the buffet, double confirm the price before sitting down. PS the ingredients are not fresh, be careful!

Restaurant revamped from last visit many years ago.. Fresh decor with modern feel. Only Restaurant still taking clients after 8.30 on Monday night. (Only patrons). Food good and we used 4 person banquet. Service friendly. Heading back soon.

Customer Srrvice was slack, had pre booked birthday function. No communication upon arrival. Chlostrophobic toilets and vibe just felt off, nice decorations food was decent but however I will not be back nor recommending to other people! Highly dissatisfied and disappointed 😞

Visiting a while ago , it was the best Chinese food I had for a long time in western countries, we went two night in a row , thinking of it now makes me want to go back again soon !! and the lady at the counter was so nice and friendly 🥰

Decided to dine in. Instead of buying take away. Tasted their battered oyster. The batter was light, tasty and crispy with Just the right amount encapsulating the little mollusk. Also had one of my faves, the peking duck! I ain’t gonna lie. I didn’t expect it to be so tasty and wonderfully seasoned. Service was 👍

One of the best chinese seafood restaurant in south island. We were lucky to order fish belly served with broccoli , which was not on their main menu, and it ended up being our favourite dish for the entire trip.

Hey it might have become a little antiquated in style but service is still premium 5 star with dedicated staff to help you navigate the menu. Still best Chinese on offer in Invercargill. Have I had better, sure here and there around the world but good solid choice in Southland. Want something less 'Westernised' just ask! They are happy to accommodate.

Nice restaurant! Food are delicious and portion is large enough. Price is reasonable. Very good service 👍 Like their roasted duck. Crispy roasted pork could be improved. Fried rice and vegetable dishes are excellent.

An easy place to dine. No public buffet so relaxed dining. Walk in at 6.30pm Tuesday night. Most tables available. Served a rolling banquet good value $34. Incl soup starter and tea/coffee. Avoid table closest to kitchen door. Cold draft and view of gents toilets! Heat pump turned on for us. Live crayfish and paua as you enter. Rolling screen on back wall showing scenic spots of Hawaii.

Wow! Where do I start?! This is hands down the best Chinese restaurant that we've been to in New Zealand, and we've been to alot, living in Auckland. The banquet for 2 was so generous and delicious! The food was amazingly fresh and flavorsome, and the blue cod was divine 👌 This delicious meal was topped off perfectly with a yummy dessert served with fresh fruit. We left feeling so satisfied 🙌😊 Thank you!

Loved every bit of my food. We ordered a pot off Chinese Tea, Chicken Sweet Corn Soup, Spicy Seafood Fried Rice, Szechuan Style Chicken & Fried Banana with Ice Cream for desert. The Spicy seafood fried rice was so flavorful with a perfect balance of seafood and rice & the Szechuan Chicken was just amazing 👏 Definitely 👍 👍 👍

We got together for a family gathering and had the set menu for 8 of us. We had a great evening, the blue cod and the chicken corn soup was the crowd favourite. Very good price for the quality and amount of food provided and very friendly service. I'm looking forward to returning again soon!

Had chicken chowmein, pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork and beef noodles. All dishes were very blan my co worker said it was like we ordered 4 of the same thing🤷‍♂️. The pork barely had any sweet and sour sauce. Staff were lovely and very prompt but im here for the food not to make freinds. The food was edible but just no flavour i see people sayin this is invercargills best chinese restaurant but they need to up the flavour game!!! Oh and the chicken chowmein noodle s where not even the fat noodles just the thin egg noodles i could have just ordered stir fried chicken and vegetables.

My good friend Ed recommended this place, for a succulent Chinese meal and oh boy lemme tell ya; it was just that. The star of the show was the chicken and sweet corn soup. They definitely do not use store bought chicken stock!

Ordered sweet and sour pork, spring rolls, chow mein and prawn toast. Food was completely inedible, had to throw it away as too disgusting to eat. $55 down the drain :(

We ordered beef black bean, sweet and sour blue cod and combination chow mein to take away. Once we got it home we realized we didn't get a chow mein, we got a fried rice instead. The meal was well below average tasting and small portions for the price. The blue cod was nice but only 8 little balls for $21.50. Will not be back.

The best Turkish kebabs in town nice friendly service had a slight mishap with my order in store but the young girl had her first day behind the counter I totally get it guys and understand how you would feel any way if you haven't had turkish apple tea get in and try some I'm not a tea drinker and it was very very nice . The food as always nice and tasty well done to you no job to big or to small to fix all anyone has to do is communicate with them and theyll fix it to the best that they can you are all so professional thanks for a great positive experience ☺️

Go there quite often at home and with work.. sick of ordering stuff with no salads and getting salads and with work i cant just ring up

espresso was okay - nothing special. staff is very friendly and accommodating. environment is welcoming and probably a good place for meeting a friend for breakfast or lunch; nothing stood out as a good vegetarian option. the macadamia brittle was very good, but a bit too sweet - dark chocolate would be an interesting option for it.

Amazing soy lattes and a fantastic array of food for every taste - the cream cheese frosting on the carrot cake is by far the best I have ever tried. Highly recommend!

Heard good things about this place online, Stopped by for a quick feed the other night. Ordered a Plain burger and a pineapple ring, Burger was yummy,hot fresh off the grill, Plenty of onion and a nice bug bun to get my mouth around. The most disgusting fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. Oily, greasy, like they haven’t even been drained. The chips are dry and rubbery, and WAY too salty. I had to squeeze oil out of the crab sticks. 0/10, will not be ordering again.

Caramel Popcorn & warm pies are delicious! We'll keep going back for that! Friendly staff. However, do not go here for donuts!! We got 2 x 6 packs (fillings). Very dry, has a strong baking powder/soda taste to them & icing tastes like straight icing sugar. Filling not enough ratio to donut for most of them. Caramel filling tasted like yoghurt. I really wanted to love these because we've been looking for a good donut place since moving here... yet to find them unfortunately.

You can find all sorts of baked goods here. Impressive bakery! Pies and donuts were delicious. Staff were friendly and energetic. The only thing that's disappointing was thr donuts signs weren't that clear, we thought that all donuts were $2.50, apparently those filled ones costed more than $2.50 each :(

Twice I've argued with them and the second time they refused to replace pizza. All of them were spicy. All of them. Don't waste your money on argumentive jerks who don't believe in the customer is always right.

Haven't been for few years as they couldn't get my name right, customer service is not very good. People taking your order are not very good at speaking or understanding English. I went back Sunday night and the duty manager was to busy doing what he was doing, served me then was in a rush to go stand and talk to his fellow worker. He talked to fast, left me standing there putting my card details in the EFTPOS , he was lucky it didn't decline otherwise I would have got a free pizza

Don't usually review fast food restaurants because you don't go to them expecting much other than convenience. But this BK provided the best tasting BK burgers we've had. They also gave us a decent amount of fries. The restaurant was light and open and clean. A good experience all around & the whole family we're happy.

Throughly useless staff. The kiosk locked up by not accepting payment. The staff didn't care, except when we went to leave. Hardly anyone there could understand what was wrong so they stood there with blank expressions. Hopeless. Absolutely hopeless.

Fast food? I think not!! I'm pretty sure this is the reason I stopped coming here, but husband wanted to. Couldn't even get the meal he wanted as they had no ice cream sundae's. Hi I usually dnt do this but feel you guys need to know .I visited Invercargill site today around 2:30 and was very disgusted how dirty the place was. ,I've never seen it looking like this in the past, built up dust/ dirt everywhere, the toilet walls and doors need a waterblast at them. Honestly if my boy wasnt hungry and looking forward to his BK as a treat I would have walked out, if thats the dine In Area I'd hate to think what the cooking area is like.

Pretty good 99% of the time, they've only forgotten something like three times but if they do forget and you go in and say what you're missing they always either give you your item or your item and a few extras to say sorry so I can easily forgive them for that, the workers are humans as well and sometimes forget things but they always make it up to you so I'm happy

Edited Review 15/09/25: I still think their chips are yummy and taste like they did back when F n C's really was something you looked forward to getting once a week or once a fortnight. However, their Hoki, while being gorgeous sometimes, seems a bit more hit and miss lately. The last lot had most of the grey skin of the fish still on, which not only looked pretty unappetizing but also the grey skin also made for a slimy-ish texture under the batter, which was off-putting. The time before that, it was great. They just need some better quality control, as if the last time had been my first time, I likely wouldn't be back and overall they have nice food, so that would be a shame if they lose customers due to things like that creeping into their food more often. Also, unless a staff is rude or something I rarely comment on how a service is (although I will try to comment on outstanding service anywhere when I experience it too), but the last three or four times I've been in here in person I have experienced a staff person who has taken apathy and disinterested in being there to a whole other level. I understand that taking orders and going back and forth with them and parcels and taking phone orders isn't the most stimulating of jobs, but geez, a smile every now and then and just a little enthusiasm to show your happy to at least be in employment these days wouldn't go amiss. I'm not going to single out who they are there yet, because I have a feeling once the store reads this (as I hope they keep am eye on their reviews), then they will know who this employee is and hopefully it will be remedied, but if it's not, I will out them in the future, because A) on a whole, this place does nice food and it deserves to be better represented in front of house, but also B) there's plenty of other people out there who'd relish the employment opportunity who'd do it better. Therefore, because of this updated review, I have had to drop a star ☆ in each category for them, but hope they'll address the issues so I can continue to tell other people to go here with the confidence I once had. Vegetarian burger is a good size & delicious, I was really impressed. potato slices are also done well, good amount of potato - batter golden & crispy but not oily. :)

A typical fish and chips outlet located in south city of Invercargill. Bit of crowded place due to the cheaper prices for their products. They have variety of food items and you can call and place your order beforehand to avoid the time you may need to spend. Under normal circumstances, you have to wait for 10-15 minutes. Parking space available in front of the shop but it’s limited to 3-4 vehicles. Apart from that Street parking is possible.

Good food, cozy ambiance, and super friendly staff. Lots of seating and the coffee is just perfect. After three years living in Invercargill, it’s my first time trying this café, and I’m glad I did. The pie was huge with homemade pastry, and the frittata with salad was delicious. Reasonably priced, and I’ll definitely be back.

Went back to try pizza again thinking they had a bad day on my last visit but apparently they are happy to make sub standard pizza. I wonder if the chef even knows why his dough won’t rise? Of maybe he just doesn’t care and buys pre made bases. What a terrible pizza

Go to the Pub if nobody at the reception despite opening time. Stayed one night in private single room which provided towel before heading to Steward Island. Returned from Steward Island , I stayed in 8beds dormitory. This time no towel given and the bed doesn’t have shade to close for privacy. And this time facing the pub owned by the same hostel and road thus pretty noisy with the loud music and from the vehicles. The heater is not strong since it’s a bigger 8 bedder dormitory. Location is excellent given it’s right in front of the Intercity coach pick up and drop off area and also very near to Invercargill Mall and Park n Save, the cheap grocery mall. Suggested to stay in the private single room which has better facing than the dormitory as the latter face the noisy road and loud music from the Pub downstairs. Oh they charge $10 per day for secured lock room of your luggage but I decided to choose the unsecured manner ( ie just left it beside the staircase. However all good as just bring your own toiletries and towel and make sure you charge your phone in the lounge or kitchen as there is only 2 power points in the 8 bedder dorm and one used for the heater !!!

Nice hostel in the heart of the city. I stayed one night in a single room, it was basic but warm and comfortable, decent for the price. Common areas are well-equipped and clean, showers are hot, the staff was really friendly. Only downsides are: - walls are very thin, so you'll hear what happens in the rooms around you, in the corridor and even outside. - parking your car can be tricky as you have to park on the street, but it's free at night Overall, I was pretty satisfied with my stay and would recommend this place for budget travelers.

I stayed at Tuatara Lodge in Invercargill and had a good overall experience. The room was clean, the service friendly and helpful, and the lodge offered all the basics you need for a short stay. The location is okay, within walking distance of the town centre, cafés and shops. However, parking can be a bit tricky, especially during busier times, as spaces are limited. Nothing fancy, but a solid and reliable place to stay if you're passing through Southland.

We arrived quite late from a long drive so we had a late check in but the staff was very responsive through emails and very accommodating. Check in for us was easy. However, there was no mentioning of parking. We parked on the parking on the side and realized that is free in the weekend. The bed was very comfortable however our room was right next to the staircase door therefore we can hear people open and close the door all the time. There is only one washroom available in the women toilets/ showers, since we only stay for a very short night, it didn’t bother us very much. The room was clean. Overall, it was a comfortable one short stay for us to get through towns. We didn’t really check out the town center so can’t really comment on that but the hostel is right in the town center.

Worst coffee I've ever had in my life. Won't be back.

Our experience was real dodgy. They have been our go to for years. But tonight was different, we ordered $10 chips as large family. The lady brought out $6 partner said we got $10. They the. Came back with exactly the same size just wrapped with a different paper. When unwrapping we seen the $6 paper still there. After god knows how long thought they’d look after there customers. Unfortunately this will be our last time there disgusted they screw customers over. chips were yum tho

We were looking forward to having a meal of fish and chips from this Shop but were very disappointed, my piece of Cod was so thin and batter over cooked and the chips were awful, dry and cold, not worth the money. F n C's are very expensive these days, it's a treat, so why can't we get better quality 😖

I don't think I have ever had a square crumbed Hoki. The crumbs were like cardboard. The battered Blue code was good though. Ample amount of chips.

Was local for years. Unfortunately I got the completely wrong order last night and it wasn’t very nice either. The older owner use to check what items you bought during taking payment and unfortunately the new guy doesn’t. Maybe that would have avoided me getting the wrong order and probably someone else too. The chips were soggy and had no salt, and the fish has more batter than fish. Considering I didn’t order those items.

I had lemon chicken but sadly the meat was very dry and not enjoyable. My hubby had a peanut chicken stir fry but the vegetables and chicken were cut extremely small so it was very "bitsie" to eat. The restaurant had a genuine Asian feel to it with lanterns and wood carvings.

Thai Saigon never fails! The food is always fresh, beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The place is always busy and the staff are a hardworking, pleasant and helpful bunch. I watched a staff member cleaning tables ready for the next diners tonight and my old mum would have been proud of the effort she put in - everything is clean and spotless including the cutlery and crockery. AND! Very reasonably priced.

Took my daughter and grandson out for lunch on my birthday. My daughter and I both had a baked potato she had corn on hers which looked like it came out of a tin.and I had savoury mince. peas looked like they had been sitting for too long cost $75 waste of money and very disappointed

I don’t normally write reviews but after talking to some of my friends about the attitude I received they then started talking about there experiences with the same server while drink at this pub.The first time I went to this pub I was being served by a short blond girl, she was incredibly rude and made me feel like I wasn’t welcomed there and as if her serving me was such a hard job. I have worked in consumer service for many years so I always talk to people with respect and it wasn’t like I was being rude or my order was hard to complete. I gave this girl the benefit of the doubt and just put it down to her having a bad day but then the next time I went back to this pub her attitude hasn’t gotten any better. She has rolled her eyes at me, made me wait while she finished her conversation with her work friends before she served me, and just completely made me feel like I wasn’t welcomed there. If I was the manager I would be keeping an eye on her because I’m definitely not coming back to this pub. If she doesn’t want to work at such a social place then maybe she should consider finding a new job because customer service is such a big part in working in a pub! Very disappointed!!!!!!!!

Food is okay but don’t understand why put too much salt in the middle of the chips, really salty. Also the coffee just normal not fantastic, order flat white but gave me heaps of milk foam on top. Shown in the photo the spoon on side of coffee is really dirty. Disappointed.

A tavern with a history of great pub tucker. Didn't disappoint. Had the oysters and blue cod combo which came with 6 oysters a fillet of blue cod, chips and a salad (with homemade dressing). Salad had lettuce, carrot, orange pieces and grape quarters and cherry tomato halves $39 bucks. Not a huge fan of fruit in my lettuce salad but the dressing made it a winner (very light crispy batter on the seafood). Pub surroundings and old style tables and chairs, tv going, what i would expect in a tavern. Good NZ Tucker!! Steak sandwich $23 bucks! Current combo Whitebait fritter and blue cod and chips/salad $40.00 bucks (Nov 24). Roast Lamb $23, a bargain for a delicious roast like mum used to make!!

Food was excellent with a good selection for all tastes. Everything was reasonably priced & good sized meals. The bar staff etc were happy, helpful & friendly. The decor was a bit dated but was comfortable & the heat pump was on keeping it nice & warm considering it was only 3 degrees outside

I have been twice for lunch, first time was nice but the waitress was very rude. Kids menu was very limited. Second time for lunch recently and my word what rude service again, funnily enough by the same waitress. We didn't get any water. We ordered a bottle of wine with 3 glasses, we got 3 glasses of wine. Upon saying that the waitress was very rude and straight away blamed us she thought we said 3 glasses of wine. She didn't say a word and whisked the glasses away. No apology or anything Food was average, I had a chicken sandwich, it come to me with half the chicken all over the plate, the waitress did apologise for this but its not that far of a walk to have it fixed, its not a very big building. Chicken was dry so all in all a pretty average meal and dont think ill be back anytime soon.

We had dinner here last night and it was good. Nice warm place. Friendly staff. But we thought it was just another "Speights Ale house" or whatever you call it. It looks like these sort of restaurants all have the same architect for building the place. Same dark brown, grey and black colors, even the toilets look the same. The televisions screaming off the wall showing old video clips is something we cannot understand at all. But then, we would never eat in front on the television at home. How to enjoy nice food when your constantly drawn to the video screen? About the food. We had blue cod, which is sort of a must eat here in Invercargill so we heard.Food was well cooked and more then enough for us, but nothing special. In our eyes, quite a lot of money for some white not to tastefull a fish with a lot of patatoes. We will try to avoid these places in the future and be on the search for something more personal, something with a little bit of a soul.

Warm, pleasant staff. Monday night is half price desert night which is nice. We had the tasting board, which was huge! Perhaps too much dairy for us though.

This is a typical Monteith's brewery bar run by an uninspired local alcohol licensing trust whose focus is alcohol sales rather than great dining experiences. This is typical of all the licensing trust run restaurants in the city.

Food great Salmon and blue cod

An average local fish n chip shop. Had a good selection on their menu board. We ordered 2 pieces of fish, well drained, but they weren't drained and pretty greasy. Pretty average fish, and the chips were good. We also ordered a combination fried rice which was good. Don't think we'll go back.

Chips so dry and tasteless. Good for the health conscious i guess. Zero fat. Some people may think that's a good thing. Definitely not for me. Blue cod? Mm not sure about that. The shark was chewy (very weird texture) hotdog dry and not a lot of flavour. Very disappointed.

Good value for money but I agree with some other reviews that they need to let the chips cook for another minute or so. I'll ask for crispy chips next time and see if that makes a difference but I think it's the type of potato used more than the cook time. Big portions so makes up for it somewhat. Fish was mint.

Very friendly, fast. Best priced fish we'd found in Southland so far ( fish is expensive dow here compared to Christchurch)... Nice fish and sweet n sour pork. Decent helping too.

I placed a very very large order with the Waikiwi Fish supply and they were amazing. Looked after us well. Food was fantastic. Thank you the food made the Nighy. ( They catered for 70 people)

Chips are tasty but 2 scoops gave us hardly any. fried rice was unfortunately tasteless. disappointed after spending $40.

This is the only Fish&Chip Shop I went to when in New Zealand so I can’t compare it with others but compared to Australia it was very good fish and chips

I have eaten here off & on over the past few years. Not sure what is going on but the other day the whole meal looked soo overcooked, unappealing & beige. We got overcooked greasy chips with lots of small ones, deep fried oysters soo flat it looked like someone had trod on them & a chow mein burger 🍔 which was previously delisious as it included a whole pineapple ring & coleslaw. This just had a bunch & chow mein patty. Honestly if it was not such terrible weather I would have returned for a full refund. Disgusting!!

Oh!! If you like batter more than the fish in your fish and chips. Then sure go a head get it from here… plus the fish wasn’t fresh either.I could not even glop it down my throat!!! Total waste of money and time… plus we ordered fresh oysters and got bettered ones!!!

I loved the food, their lemon chicken is 10/10 and there is SO much, enough for 4 people. And the fried rice & chicken was amazing. We got enough for 4 people for just $28! Cheap, delicious and local. Definitely go here.

The shop and staff are nice, however the food is of poor quality. The chips were okay, albeit small in portion size. The fish seems like it’s been frozen for a while, batter is bad, the other meat in general just isn’t good. The donut we got seemed on the stale side, perhaps freezer-bitten, and the deep fried mars bar wasn’t sugared and made the dessert very plain. We got sweet and sour chicken, and it was quite bland, was just a slight amount of chicken in batter with some sauce. The Singapore spicy fried noodles lacks both spice and flavour. Don’t recommend unfortunately, needs more flavour across the board.

My usual choice for a fish and chip meal on the way home. Very nice spring rolls and steak & onion rolls. Very nice Chinese dishes, burgers are good too. Courteous staff & quick service. The lunchtime fill a dish is excellent for a quick and pretty healthy lunch, My go to lunch at least once a week. Recommend the egg drop Chicken Corn soup as well.

Best sweet and sour pork I have ever tasted. All the dishes we ordered were amazing. Highly recommended, I wouldn't go anywhere else. A++++ extremely low priced for the quality and quantity.

Last night we were celebrating a birthday and had family coming for tea. We ordered 12 dishes of Chinese food. This would have been the nicest Chinese any of us had ever eaten. Nicely presented in separate plastic dishes with lids, the food was fresh, crisp and crunchy, nothing was soggy or greasy. The veges were nicely cooked fresh, crisp and great flavor. Food was ready on time, great service would throughly recommend +++++++

I try and go there a couple of times a month delicious! meals and Staff are great and welcoming. If your coming to town a place you must try if you like kebabs....

Im not usually one to complain or do one of these reveiws but i was extremely disappointed after spending $40+ so here I am. Asked for a chicken plate and a chicken kebab combo, asked for both to be extra spicy! I mentioned extra spicy 3 times. I get home, sit down to eat and both the plate and kebab combo had no spice no heat what so ever! Very disappointed won't be going back there ever!!! Will stick to Mevlana kebabs on tay street from now on

Great food I’ve been having kebab on my journeys through New Zealand and def top 5 for New Zealand and much better then the other place in town.

Had a mix chicken/lamb kebab and found the service and food were top notch. Would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious Kebab 😊

Lovely kind people are running this restaurant. The kebabs are tasty, coffee brilliant and the Turkish delight is home made and it is authentic.

Very tasty sushi, but sadly we had to wait quite a long time since we ordered it. The prices are on the other side very good and everything was fresh. Interier is a little bit older but don't be discouraged by it. It's a good place to have a tasty sushi or noodles. No toilets here, you must go to the shopping centre on the other side of the road. Not far.

Very small and unobtrusive little diner on Kelvin Street. If you blinked when walking past you'd miss it. Pretty good for a lunch stop. Staff appeared friendly and courteous enough and the food ordered i could find no fault with price wise or otherwise. When a dish was brought out on the Iron/wooded plate the dishes were very hot which was excellant. I'd certainly go back.

To think about it, I've probably been here over a year, or maybe even more. Thus, every time I've had lunch at Kim's sushi, their appealing and tasty food has never disappointed me. With great customer service, reasonable pricing and consistent good portions of food, Kim's sushi offers a wide selection of Japanese's culinary culture. Yesterday, my partner and I tried out The Kim’s lunch Special. Although they had a wide variety of Bento boxes but we ordered possibly one of the best Bento boxes I've ever had! Our Bento box included Teriyaki chicken & rice and a side of crab meat salad and other one with Teriyaki Prawn& Rice + sides, these particular boxes filled us up. When you're at Kim's sushi, you have to try the Chicken Katsu (Crispy Chicken) & Rice and their fresh Sashimi. I get this sashimi every time as it is so fresh and delighting every time. A can't miss on the menu. Furthermore, your experience will be just good rather then excellent, if you don't grab a cup of hot Miso Soup before you start your meal. ! I guarantee it!

The staff were lovely but I would not recommend the teriyaki chicken rice "balls" the best part about it was the rice... The chicken was very rubbery and the teriyaki flavor resembled that of a packet from the supermarket

Crispy chicken on rice with avocado is a household favorite 10/10. The lady behind the counter has excellent customer service skills aswell

I use to live in Invercargill and that is the best Japanese & Korean food I could get hands down. I love the food, price and the service is awesome! :)

Fish, chips and hot dog were some of the worst we have ever had, very dry and not edible, food is not fresh and at 12pm tasted like it had either been microwaved from yesterday or in the warmer since first thing in the morning. Service was good and fast. Other food may be great but we do not recommend fish and chips
