Josie's is a beloved spot in Winchester, known for its long queues and delicious menu. The cafe offers mouth-watering options like pancakes with various toppings, loaded toasties and sandwiches, and fully loaded wraps with diverse fillings. There are also plenty of vegan choices available. While there are many great places for food and drink in Winchester, Josie's Cafe stands out as a cool find.
A fantastic dining experience at Josies in Winchester! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted warmly and seated promptly, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. I had the pancakes, which were absolutely delicious—fresh, fluffy, and beautifully presented. The coffee was also excellent: rich, fresh, and perfectly made, making it an ideal pairing with the meal. The service throughout was top-notch: friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. Staff checked in to make sure everything was to my liking and offered refills when needed. Paying was quick and easy thanks to their seamless online checkout system via a QR code on the table—a convenient touch that made the experience even smoother. The restaurant itself is modern, clean, and stylish, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light and offer a lovely connection to the outdoors. This was my second visit, and I’ll definitely be coming back again. Josies is a real gem—highly recommended if you’re visiting Winchester!

Such a cosy spot, feels like proper home-cooked food. Staff are super friendly and make you feel really welcome. The dish I tried was just tasty and comforting.
Bloomy L — Google review
We had an amazing time visiting Josie’s both for lunch and then breakfast the next day. The team has been exceptionally friendly and the service was fast. The food tasted fresh and cooked to a very high standard. The portions were generous and we appreciated different portion sizes available on the menu. As the place is clearly very popular, it does get a bit noisy during lunchtime. Overall, great value for money and I just wish we had a Josie’s in our town!
Natalia T — Google review
If being busy is a good sign the Josie's is good. But having great food, consistency or service and good coffee makes it exceptionally difficult to write a bad thing about it. It cam be busy, and food ordered takes a few minutes to arrive, but it is worth it. Look for breakfasts, brunch and huge wraps. Many items to go. Large portions and fresh ingredients. Cake and pastry selection at the counter Very clean and efficient. Been in Winchester 2 weeks for work, found Josie's and came back evey dayr since. They have seasonal menu items so keep an eye out of you visit
Pete D — Google review
This place is absolutely lovely! There’s a reason it fills up quick and that’s because the staff are lovely, the food is excellent with loads of choice and the drinks are perfect. You absolutely have to get here early otherwise you’re at risk of not getting a table but the early start is worth it. I had a chai latte and the brunch burrito. My dad got a latte and the big breakfast
Tara B — Google review
I went here with friends for brunch. It was busy but servers were super attentive in getting us seated, and serving us. I had the three stack of fruit pancakes which were phenomenal ! They were super thick and cake like, addictive. Although three is maybe too many as they’re sweet and filling, so I would recommend getting less. We were served by Brandon (I hope that’s the right name!), who was super funny, friendly and kind. Overall this place is delightful, would recommend
Maya — Google review
Great service, very friendly and funny! Food was soo good and such a great price! 💯 rate the breakfast pancakes! Taste like donut, so thick and delicious! Definitely recommend coming for breakfast/brunch when in Winchester!
P M — Google review
Not much I can add that hasn't been said, great service- including brilliant gluten free options. Sausages and black pudding have gluten but can be switched for other options; I had extra bacon to replace the black pudding but kept the sausage. Our server was also really helpful in helping us choose the best option for my 8 year old daughter.... saved us money as she couldn't finish the amazing but giant pancake she ordered (he suggested single stack rather than the double!)

Forte Kitchen is a stylish dining spot in Winchester that offers seasonal British cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea. The restaurant has gained a reputation for its delicious rustic British dishes, such as eggs Benedict, Scotch pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, and a hearty full English breakfast. For lunch, they serve sharing platters, sandwiches, and mains like Hampshire beef burgers and hot smoked mackerel.
Our run club had a wellness event, and I’ve always been a fan of Fortes breakfast. So, I knew it would be the perfect place! We had 22 of our members come along, and it was an amazing experience. We wanted to enjoy the event without worrying about organising, but the Forte staff took all the stress off us. The food came promptly and tasted delicious! They were attentive and made us all feel welcome. Thanks, Forte! We hope to join you again soon.

We enjoyed a breakfast here, the food was really good, fresh tasting ingredients and some great choices. I particularly enjoyed the smoked trout in a roll. The service was a little disjointed, food came before drinks and we had to ask for cutlery. We ate outside and the view down the high street was lovely to look at. Ordering was very easy in the hatch on the front of the restaurant. Would recommend for a meal out in Winchester.
James T — Google review
Found this cosy restaurant that provides brunches. I had North African eggs and it was absolutely amazing. I gave 4 for atmosphere as it was quite hot outside and was a bit hot upstairs. For service, we had to chase for drinks 3 times. That said, its so worth going back but when it is a bit cooler.

So let's be clear: This might easily be the BEST breakfast in Winchester. In fact, I've been travelling around 13 cities since January 2024...and this may be the most delicious breakfast of them all! 😋😍 Perfect scrambled eggs, tasty sausage, HOT beans (thank you!) lovely rosti's, juicy tomatoes, mushroom AND black pudding (added extra) Latte and orange juice to drink. Both perfect. Honestly... it's been an absolute treat. Friendly service in the most picturesque cafe. I'd advise sitting upstairs. Worth. Every. Penny. Get yourselves down there.

Went here for lunch. Found last minute. Lots more seating up stairs. Delicious food. The French toast with bacon chicken and maple syrup was a real hit. Will come again

Very tasty breakfast with the good diversity of options. Had to wait a bit but the food was very good. Quality ingredients and authentic taste.

Throughly enjoyed my lunch here today. The food was very good(creamed spinach, mushrooms on sourdough) very good portion size! The scotch egg my partner had was enormous. Tad on the pricier side but the good sized portion made up for it.

Pub
The Black Boy is a unique pub in Winchester with an eclectic and quirky antique emporium decor, featuring taxidermy, large movie posters, and assorted knick-knacks. It prides itself on being a traditional backstreet boozer serving local ales from various breweries. The pub offers both indoor seating with a cozy atmosphere and outdoor seating in the sheltered garden.
We love this pub, and we often walk here with our dog in the evening. The staff are very friendly and it is a great example of a real public house. We love the fact you can sit next to a real open fire. There are a good selection of real local ales.
James T — Google review
Super friendly staff, they have BBQ nights, the atmosphere is on the next level, they really nailed it. I recommend going in ordering something and just exploring the building, it's really weird and there are always new things you can find. Every room is different, I don't even know how to describe it It's just weird but in the best way possible :D
Levi — Google review
This place defines "quirky". Can't really describe it - so check out photos and set for yourself. And then go visit. Great selection of drinks. Amazing decor
Phin H — Google review
An eccentric pub that offers a good range of beers, ciders and spirits. The staff are friendly, and there’s plenty of seating. The highlight has to be the decor - there’s really nothing else like it in Winchester, and you have to see it for yourself! They’ve got outdoor seating for the summer, and lots of fire places for a cozy winter catch up with friends. They’ve do food on weekends I believe, but this does change.
Joel P — Google review
Haven't sampled the delicious delicacies but the lager and taxidermy is 10/10. Stuffed foxes, giraffes and even sea horses! This is similar to the natural history museum, but with lots of real ales and tasty stouts.
BURR G — Google review
Nice pub with a good selection of ales and cidar. Quirky decorating gives it an unique atmosphere. Fair warning, there are quite a few stuffed animals around.
Beth — Google review
So, I have conflicted feelings about this. I've been to this pub a few times and while I can say the decor is great and very entertaining; it hardly makes up for the sub-par service, over priced drinks, general lack of hygiene, and unwelcoming attitude of the staff. There is a specific bartender that I have noticed making racist comments, including squinting her eyes and doing accents. I don't know her name but she's blonde and an older woman. The bar is incredibly sticky, normal to an extent in a pub I know. However there were flies constantly trying to land in the drinks we were served. It was actually disgusting. The staff I noticed were also on their phones, not cleaning even the visible spills and dirty glasses that were in all the rooms we looked in. Eventually we sat in the garden courtyard area, and the seating is very pleasant. Again its a lovely looking pub. In addition, this pub is lacking in facilities for baby changing and accessible toilets. There are multiple steps in order to get to the toilets which isn't ideal if you are with someone whose mobility is restricted. On other trips we've gotten food, the best bit of any visit and the only reason we come back. The pulled pork is to die for. Unfortunately the food vendor is not a part of the pub and is instead an external contractor. For this reason I will not be including the wonderful service and attitude of that man in this review.

The Dispensary Kitchen in Winchester is a popular restaurant-bar known for its inviting atmosphere, fresh dishes, and warm welcome. Located in the Square with stunning views of the cathedral grounds, it offers a variety of options from smooth coffee and delicious cakes to ice-cold beer and stacked burgers. The cafe's duck egg blue building behind the City Museum provides scenic views while enjoying exceptional brunch options like avocado on toast, pastries, and vegan choices.
The burgers were very tasty and well presented and the place is cosy and with a nice atmosphere. No issues with the person who served us who was friendly and pleasant but I witnessed another waiter clean a table that had just been vacated with only dirty napkins and nothing else. That's not hygienic! Hence the reduced score on service. Hopefully that was a poorly trained waiter rather than their cleanliness routine.
R C — Google review
The food is incredible. Their burgers are unrivalled! They could really do some work on their interior though.. completely uninspired and outside it often looks closed. Can’t reiterate enough though, food is brilliant. Cocktails are also great.
Merlin G — Google review
Discover a fantastic pub that offers an extensive array of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to suit every taste. The burgers here are not only delicious but also served promptly, complemented by fries that are exceptionally crispy and unmistakably fresh. The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming, enhanced by the spotlessly clean surroundings. The restrooms are impeccably maintained, stocked with plush paper towels and ample toilet paper, making every detail count. This place is definitely a must-visit and comes highly recommended for an enjoyable outing.
Agata P — Google review
Such a lovely place for dinner. Highly recommend. We had such a warm welcome from staff on arrival. Seated immediately, we had a tight timetable due to concert in the cathedral. They squeezed us in quickly. The food was beautiful, all burgers with various sides. We enjoyed the chicken burger and halloumi burger. Both came with paprika chips. Really great food. Staff were all so friendly, especially our male server, he fantastic and helpful. Thank you for your kindness and welcome. PS. Please allow tipping on cards as we had no cash and your staff are great.

I was very impressed with "The Dispensary Kitchen." The members of staff were lovely and really took an interest. They were very positive and all of them had an excellent attitude. The chef obviously works very hard and does an amazing job. She also had a great smile on her face. This place is extremely generous in relation to portions. The burgers are plentiful and just amazing structures. The chips were absolutely wonderful and tasty. They were also presented in a lovely and unique manner.
Alex K — Google review
The best burgers me and my mum have ever had. We had half each of the shredded chicken and beef brisket, they were both absolutely devine. I could not recommend eating here more. Even the chips were beautiful. 100% will return. These really just aren't any burgers !!!
Megan H — Google review
My visit was a delightful experience. The menu is rich, offering a diverse selection of burgers. I particularly enjoyed the customizable chicken burger and the unbelievably good lamb burger. The standout, however, was the unique and delicious CHIPS that accompanied the meal. Our waiter, Ed, was friendly and attentive, enhancing our dining experience. However, it's worth noting that the outdoor dining option, while pleasant in cooler weather, might not be ideal on sunny days due to weather and the presence of flies and bees. One minor drawback was the slightly longer preparation time, possibly due to the restaurant's popularity and crowds. Despite this, I wholeheartedly recommend giving The Dispensary Kitchen a TRY. It's a must-visit spot deserving of your day off or a special dining experience, with its exceptional food and service making up for any minor inconveniences.
Sarah — Google review
Really friendly staff, great staff and delicious food! We had the soy and sesame pulled pork burger, onion fritter, fennel, cabbage and spring onion slaw sesame mayo and paprika salted fries and the shredded chicken burger, bacon smoked cheddar, hash brown, tomato, chilli jam and paprika salted fries. No picture of the fries but everything was really tasty with great ingredient combinations. Great sized portions.

Nestled in Little Minster Street just off the main high street, Coffee Lab 'Academy' is a delightful spot for coffee enthusiasts. The shop offers a relaxed study environment and friendly staff, making it an ideal place to enjoy some delicious cakes while getting work done. As part of Winchester's thriving cafe culture, this independent gem contributes to the experience and service that are vital for the survival of the High Street.
Stopping by Coffee Lab Academy in Winchester was an absolute treat. The space is bright and modern, with a clean aesthetic that makes it perfect for both a relaxed coffee break and getting some work done—evidenced by the many people tapping away on their laptops. We both had an Americano, and it was exceptional. The beans were clearly of high quality, roasted to bring out rich, caramelised notes without tipping into bitterness. The flavour was clean and well-rounded, with a subtle citrusy brightness that balanced beautifully with its deep, chocolatey undertones. If you appreciate seriously good coffee, this is definitely a spot worth visiting in Winchester!

The selection of items here is incredible. I really wanted to try one of everything! Just a heads up for the almond connoisseurs - the almond croissant has apricot jam inside which was a surprise.

A really nice spot, full of locals and their adorable dogs which makes it feel super welcoming. It was the perfect little break to chill and refresh after a day of history sightseeing. Great coffee and a relaxed vibe all around.

The polenta cake was fantastic — it reminded me so much of the Brazilian version I grew up with! The texture and flavour were spot on, just missing a sprinkle of coconut flakes to make it perfect. A lovely surprise to find something so close to home.

Proper coffee. Really enjoyed my flat white. A nice array of pastries and treats. Lovely staff. Only detraction was that my partner’s hot chocolate was quite sweet

I had an iced latte and it was smooth, refreshing, and you could really taste the quality of the coffee. Not too sweet, but perfectly balanced — it really hit the spot! A perfect start to the day, and to top it off, this place also offers a great selection of pastries.
Lopamudra P — Google review
A group of us stopped by Academy for coffee and lunch on a busy Saturday, and the although it was busy, tables come up pretty quickly as it’s a quite a large coffee shop. It’s very stylish, with a ‘Scandinavian’ minimalist feel. The coffee was the main star of the show, and was truly one of the nicest coffees I have had in a very long time. The lunch items were all nice too, although the sandwiches I felt were priced a little too highly for the size. We finished off lunch with a Hoxton sweet bun, which are delicious, and I’ll never turn down the chance to have one! In Winchester, there is one thing we’re not short of and that’s coffee shops, however I feel that Academy really stands out with great style and more importantly, amazing coffee.

Greeted with a smile. The food was perfect, and hospitality matched! I recommend trying the house blend coffee, it’s rocket fuel for the morning. Lives up to the general rating in all regards. I spend much of my free time here and is my go to coffee place in Winchester. Great coffee. Great staff. Great food. Great location. You can also book large evening events with large capacity. Highly recommend this place. Would give a 6 if i could. Thank you to Pedro, Niem, Jasmine and the rest of the staff. ✨ Birthday Brunch at Winchester Orangery ✨ I chose this spot for its beautiful bohemian setup and charming ambience — and it didn’t disappoint! 🌿✨ Though one floor was closed due to staff shortage, Pedro kindly let me sit there since it was my birthday 💛. Huge thanks to him for making it extra special! 🥂 Started with a perfectly balanced Bloody Mary (crafted by the talented Josh, and on the house — such a sweet gesture 🥹). 🍳 Enjoyed a delicious Egg Royale — the smoked salmon paired with paprika and cherry tomatoes was just divine. ☕️ Ended on a high note with an Espresso Martini made with Mexican Kahlúa — smooth, rich, and unforgettable. Big shoutout to Pedro & Josh for turning my brunch into such a memorable birthday experience 🫶. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great vibes, delicious food, and a touch of magic on your special day ✨.

Dropped in here for a comforting breakfast to soak up my sins from the previous night. In fact, this place was recommended by staff in a nearby bakery as a great option for hot breakfast choices. They were not wrong! I opted for the Benedict with extra bacon and sausage on the side, and my partner took a culinary adventure with the Turkish. Both were incredibly delicious - full of flavour and great textures, and also good-sized portions. Coffees were also excellent - great quality, beautiful taste and served at just the right temperature. The staff were delightful and the ambience was just lovely. All in all it was a perfect start to a beautiful Sunday, and definitely helped me shake off any lasting effects from the previous evening 😊

A great place to stop off, watch the world go by whilst enjoying superb coffee (Latte & Cappuccino with salted caramel syrup) & delicious food. The side portion of hash browns were well worth it, crunchy, flavoursome but not sri]ing in oil. Both meals - brie, bacon & cranberry toasted ciabatta plus the Royale (egg, smoked salmon, hollandaise) were faultless. The only downside for me, was a service charge was added automatically without being told or having the option not to give it.

There's quite a few options for coffee in Winchester, the usual "High street" chains and a few independent specialty Cafes and bakery-type establishments. Just away from the main drag and off The Square (near the Cathedral) this place was a nice surprise. Sadly I only had time to visit for coffee (the food menu looked really good) but can certainly recommend. Really friendly greeting from the staff, I got a nice seat with a view across to the Cathedral whilst lot's of other patrons took advantage of outdoor seating on a sunny day. Order taken efficiently, the coffee was excellent and the atmosphere inside and out was really pleasant. I will certainly visit again!

Overdraft Beer & Tacos in Winchester is a lively spot known for its craft ales, Mexican street food, and old-school LPs spun by DJs. While initially planning to dine elsewhere, visitors were pleasantly surprised by the pulled chicken in adobo tacos and braised beef brisket tacos, along with loaded nachos. The taqueria at Overdraft offers a variety of fresh and flavorful options including meat, veggie, and vegan choices.
We have been coming to this branch of Overdraft for many years and have always had superb service and fabulous food. Staff are always really pleasant and happy to chat and offer superb customer service. The venue is cosy, funky and has a superb vibe. The food is always outstanding. Tacos, Burritos, Wings, Cauliwings, Nachos and Fries are unlike anywhere else and really do hold their own as being a cut above in comparison to other places. The inhouse made sauces and dips are epic! The fish tacos and cauli/chicken wings are outstanding but it all is anyway! The selection of drinks are another plus point as they are all independants and offer a variety of Beers and Ciders and some lovely spirits too. The Pearfection cider is our fav! Prices are very good for the quality and quantity you get and they have good deals on different days of the week. A Fabulous venue with brilliant staff and superb food. Well done to you all and see you soon! Many thanks.

I recently stopped by Overdraft for a catch-up with friends, and honestly, I’m disappointed I haven’t visited sooner. The restaurant is definitely ‘no frills’ – but this definitely adds to the charm. They have a great selection of beers and ciders on tap, perfect to enjoy alongside some tacos. The menu is small but perfectly formed, with a variety of tacos, nachos, and loaded fries. We went on a Tuesday and it was 3 for 2 on tacos, making it unbelievable value.

Delicious tacos! We went on Tuesday (3 for 2), and were glad, as 3 made a nice size portion for lunch, and 2 would have been a bit small for us. They were very nice. I had the grilled napoles- had never had cactus before 🌵- they were very tasty.

The best place for craft beer in Winchester. A reasonable selection on draft, plus a few more cans in the fridge. Measures a little on the stingy side, served with quite big heads.

lovely food, slow service and the lady serving was not particularly providing a 'service with a smile'. clean and tidy interior. there is an outdoor seating area onto a road. busy area but was not busy at the restaurant. food was average but I would visit again as I enjoyed the poke and burrito bowl with brisket.

First visit, hopped in by chance and no regrets. Genuine 10/10, the fish tacos were AMAZING, as was the chicken. We'll definitely be back 😋

We stopped for a couple of beers and something to eat. I choose it cause of the craft beer. The two I tried where really good, I have 2 Ales, although I so not remember the names now lol. We had tacos and loaded fries, the later were amazing with birria. The tacos were also good although, we have chicken and pork. The staff was really helpful and smily what helped to improve the whole experience. Definitely will go back and recomend.

In addition to an array of freshly made sandwiches, pastries, and cheese straws, it's a great place to grab some treats for a picnic in the park. While seating may be limited, their delectable cakes make it worth the visit. Customers rave about their premium baked goods and commend the friendly customer service provided by staff members like Tegan and Chris.
Went here for coffee and light lunch with my friend. Coffe was lovely and my bacon and cheese turn over was delicious. Friend had the sausage roll which was even better. Great selection of sweet and savory. The customer service was wonderful they are very friendly, especially Tegan and Chris who served us. A stark difference from the other Winchester bakery which had a poor selection and the woman shouted at us quite rudely to shut the door when it wasnt even us who left it open. Definitely coming here again :)

Very friendly welcoming staff. Lots of baked goods on offer . I opted for a beef pasty . It tasted decent, not over seasoned and even though there wasn't a whole lot of beer inside it was satisfying to eat. The pasty was crispy on the outside with a generous amount of gravy and vegetables. A little messy but that's to be expected. It cost £4.50

Incredibly rude member of staff on the upstairs floor. When asked if was busy upstairs as she was heading up there. She reply ‘how would I know, I only have one set of eyes’ then told us we couldn’t sit upstairs unless we ordered first. We ordered 2 coffee 2, two Donuts and a brownie. We went upstairs were she was clearing tables, she straight away rudely told me told me that we couldn’t sit up there as we weren’t ordering the right stuff and we could sit on the high stalls downstairs. She was an Incredibly rude young girl, we did nothing but ask her a question and was continually rude the short time we were there. Maybe learn some basic manners or some social skills if you are going to deal with the general public. Not that it will matter to anyone but definitely won’t pop in again.

Got a jam doughnut as a treat on the way back from a holiday to cushion the holiday blues.. tasted amazing!! If Im ever passing through Winchester again I will be going back to try something else (the selection was amazing, was very hard to choose!)

Now I know why the queues are long. I told my partner they are premium in my book and he treated me to a good selection. (Even if I said I only wanted 1 product -- he added a few more to it -- he knows girl language) 😊 They have wonderful baked goods! A lady was sampling a pull apart bread with a soup we dipped it on. I had that bread to go. I think it was with onion and cheese. This bread held up its texture well even if we had it at home for 2 days. I tried to make it last long -- it didnt. It was hard to stop. We also tried a premium sausage roll with chorizo and I dont like any other sausage roll now. Bacon and cheese puff was really good too! Flaky puff and good browned bacon with the right amount of cheese. I'll have to go back again later to be a bit more thorough. I was not able to take a lot of pictures like how I would normally do because it was busy. 😅 Still, awesome bakery!!

I got a really good iced coffee here and a pastry! (the smell coming from the food was incredible) couldn’t help myself, everything looked amazing. The staff were lovely too, everyone seemed happy to be there even thought it was a bit busy when I was in there, a very nice environment to be in. Out of all the places on this street I would go back here to try more of their food!

Lot of good options to choose from. Seating area at the 1st floor and in the ground floor it’s take away. The menu looks different upstairs and also people are not friendly. Coffee served was really bad for the money paid & it was just from a coffee machine directly. Food was average. This is a place good for take away which costs you less and better options to choose from. The people below were friendly as well.

Fabulous cheese straws on first visit, the donuts are really yummy! Almond croissant was nice but not the best I’ve had, it very little of the almond paste in the middle which I prefer! We tried the Iced coffee good and a cappuccino I would say was average! Overall a nice place to grab some goodies, very pleasant staff & good to support local!

Girls weekend away we decided to visit Winchester as not been before, we arrived on Fri 1st Dec. That eve as we were walking down through the centre I spotted lots of pretty lights up one of the side alleys, we decided to head there, The Bakers Arms. We were greeted by a lovely barmaid Kim, we only stopped for one as we had booked a table prior to our visit to Winchester at Incognito. But said to Kim we will definitely be back as it seemed like a lovely pub with friendly staff & locals. On Saturday night we went back & had a great night, even though it was packed all the staff were quick to serve & super friendly. The DJ that was on was playing great tunes. Got to meet June the land lady she was lovely & we had a good chat as she is friends with our landlady at The Dolphin. We loved the Bakers Arms & will definitely visit again when in Winchester. Thank you for having us 🥰 & making us feel welcome.

Been trying to get to the Hoxton Bakehouse for a while now and I was not disappointed. They have a beautiful display of Bread, buns and sandwiches. I had a coffee and Cinnamon Bun which went down really well. There was a steady stream of people all after cookies and sandwiches. Very quiet and comfortable. Give it a try. Its just off the top of town and around to the right. Easy 5 Stars - Recommended ###############################

We visited Hoxton Bakery on Tuesday last week and we couldn't of picked a better place for cake and coffee. Warm welcome when we entered by both smiley team members, so much fresh selection of pastries / Sandwiches /Coffee and more! One of the team members was very helpful with me making my mind up as there are so many lovely drinks to chose from! I ended up having a Gingerbread Oat Latte with cream and biscuit topping, a Vanilla bun, my partner had a Flat white with Oat milk and a Cinnamon Bun. All was absolutely amazing and the Seadog coffee is just perfection! Highly recommend, best in Winchester! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I recently visited a fantastic bakery, and it was a delightful experience. Their menu features standout pastries like the Blueberry Muffin with Salted Butter Crumble and the Passion Fruit and Coconut Bun. These treats are not only fresh but also incredibly flavorful. The [Blueberry Muffin] offers a perfect balance of sweet and salty, while the [Passion Fruit and Coconut Bun] is a tropical delight. The overall experience at this bakery is a testament to their commitment to crafting exceptional baked goods. 😋 DON’T MISS the chance to indulge in these mouthwatering pastries; it's a treat you'll thoroughly enjoy!

Great bakery and coffee shop in central Winchester. You can't miss their incredible buns - the vanilla bun with a custard centre is the stuff dreams are made of. If you find yourself in Winchester, a visit to the Cornish Bakery is an absolute must! This charming spot on the high street is perfect for grabbing a coffee and indulging in delightful pastries while enjoying some people-watching from the window. The bakery boasts an impressive selection of treats, including mouthwatering scones, cakes, sandwiches, and pasties.
This Cornish Bakery is always my last stop before heading to LHR. I’ve been enjoying the pistachio croissant since I found it earlier this year and have been going back for them ever since. I live in the US but frequently travel to UK and on my 4th trip for the year, I decided to share the pastry with my husband so I bought some for take away - he loves them! Lou was very helpful in suggesting that I keep a cold drink in the bag with them so they wouldn’t warm up which is what I did. Thank you for the suggestion, Lou! I’ll see you next month!

I stopped by Cornish Bakery in Winchester for a coffee and afternoon treat recently and throughly enjoyed the experience. It’s god a great spot on the high-street, making it great for sitting in a window and people watching. The service was very friendly, and there was a great selection on offer. There were pastries, cakes, sandwiches and pasties - all of which looked great. I opted for a scone with cream and jam, alongside a coffee. The scone was very fresh, and was generous in size too. The coffee was also very good, albeit a little on the small side for the price. They’ve got plenty of seating, both downstairs and upstairs as well as a few tables outside too. Overall, a great addition to Winchester, and I’ll certainly be back again to sample some more of their delicious looking food.

I was passing through Winchester with my family and wanted a quick lunch. The selection in the window drew us in. As a vegetarian the option did feel a little limited, but I opted for the cheese and onion pasty. It was a very generous size, and the pastry was delicious, but the filling was ever so slightly rich for my liking (personal taste though I think!), it could have done with sauce to dip, but couldn't see any available. I also had the Italian hot chocolate.. which did not disappoint!!
Zoe T — Google review
Popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick drink and cake. Place was quite busy but we managed to get a space downstairs. Ordered drink and cake. Got cake straight away but had to wait for the drink and was a bit difficult to understand where/how to wait for your drink? Lovely selection of sweet and savoury food. Decided on scones. Was ok and had nice spice but didn’t taste that fresh. Used the downstairs toilet which wasn’t great. I wouldn’t rush back.

Delicious.. great value.. delicious, friendly staff taking time to care and help with choices.. and again.. Delicious! Great value for your money. A very open atmosphere + outdoor seating too. Note.. they make their coffee a bit strong so you may ask not to, or add sugar, etc. overall an absolutely lovely spot.

The pictures don’t do it justice - it’s a lovely cafe with a great vibe. The pain au chocolat was really well made and the pistachio croissant was too, but expect a very rich and heavy pastry.

Stopped for lunch with wife and son, lots of tasty options to chose from on both sides. Italian hot chocolate was amazing, and the strawberry lemonade is a go to for a hot day like it was when we visited. Hot and cold food options, all looked lovely waiting to be eaten. Would definitely return if I was in the area! Must visit place.

Patisserie Valerie in Winchester is a well-established chain known for its delectable pastries, cakes, and light meals. With over 90 years of experience, this dessert haven offers an extensive menu that includes favorites like the strawberry gateaux, Charlotte gateaux, and coconut macaroon. In addition to their sweet treats, they also serve a variety of hot and cold drinks along with breakfast and lunch options.
We came in today and had two Americano coffees and cheesecake which were both really nice. The coffee was strong and good tasting. I used a voucher in part payment (which was given for a bad experience at the gunwarf branch) cannot fault this Winchester pat val, it was clean and the staff friendly and helpful..chalk and cheese to my other visit to Portsmouth..

Hands down this is my favourite dessert chain in the UK. They’ve been around for more than 90+ years, and for a good reason. I have pretty much tried their entire dessert menu, and I’ve got 0 complaints. My favourite here has to be the strawberry gateaux, Charlotte gateaux and the coconut macaroon. They even offer a variety of cold and hot drinks, and other lunch and breakfast options. I can never get enough of this place. Will definitely visit this place again. I do want to try the afternoon tea the next time I visit them.

We went on a Sunday for afternoons tea, not busy only 3 tables of customers. We had to wait a while for the tea and food to arrive. The cutlery were so dirty that we were sure they had not been washed because we could wipe the food off by our fingers. 🤮The milk jar was so dirty that the stain came off and got into the milk!!! 🤢Tea pot was gunky, we were scared to eat the food because everything was so dirty. The table next to us had leftover food and drink there the whole time we were there. The bathroom is so dirty that I decided to hold it in…If I can give it 0 star I would. Ruined our day. Never again.
Angela K — Google review
The smallest afternoon tea we have ever had. For £12.50 (or £25 for 2 sharing) we got 3 fingers of sandwiches (cucumber, chicken & ham), 1 scone with jam and clotted cream and 1 macaroon, 1 small piece of strawberry cake and one small piece of chocolate cake. We were certainly left wanting more and not overly full. Upon arrival, there is a large sign saying take a seat, order at the front. We did so, it was very quiet and waited around 20 mins for our afternoon tea. Sandwiches and cakes tasted fresh but just very small tbh. We wouldn't return and have had far better. Not goos value for money tbh.
Mrs F — Google review
I was utterly shocked at the state of this place, especially for a central Winchester setting. I booked this through red letter days, expecting a decent cream tea for my nans birthday. Boy oh boy was i wrong. The place to start with was drab, dirty, looked like a school cafeteria. we had to wipe down a table for ourself. Food was horrendous. Sandwiches were thin, lacking filling and flavour. quite frankly a boots meal deal would have been nicer and i have had children make better sandwiches. Stingy with the cakes, only gave us one full size slice and cut it in half. half the cream was missing off the top. 1 STALE profiteroll each and the cream was hard. utterly disgusting. Other cake were obviously old as weren't holding shape and tasted dry. the scones, the bit my nan was most looking forward to were SOLID AS ROCKS. i could whack them on the side and not a crumb. i have no idea how this place is serving food. it is horrible. I am seeking compensation for this visit and would highly suggest you do not go here.
LJ R — Google review
I visited Patisserie Valerie Winchester recently as I had a Buyagift Afternoon Tea voucher brought for me as a gift and I thought I would give it a try. A group of 4 of us visited on a Sunday in December at lunch time. It was busy, as it the Winchester Christmas Market was running as well, so we were anticipating a wait. The staff member who took our order took a few minutes to get to us but was friendly and polite. Even though they were busy the food arrived in an efficient manner and it wasn’t long before we were tucking in. Overall – it was a pleasant Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches tasted fresh and had ample fillings, the scones were a bit dense but still very tasty (most things are covered in jam and cream), and I highly rated the macron. However, I did feel the cake element was the weakest, and although perfectly pleasant, they didn’t leave me wanting more. The strawberry cake did taste quite artificial which was a shame. Between us we had a tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and they were all very good. Overall, it was a nice Afternoon Tea, and although there are ample coffee shops in Winchester, they do have a great position on the high-street and their Afternoon Tea is a reasonable price.

OMG! I absolutely loved this place! I had salmon sandwiches which came with salad and crisps and everything was so fresh! It will be my to go place in the centre.

A cute little cafe near the bridge, we tried a variety of things from the menu. Pastries were fresh and crispy, the Cheesecake Tart had an excellent texture, so creamy. Brie, Bacon and Cranberry Panini was generous with the cheese and so crunchy on the outside. I found the Spiced Pear Tart a nice flavour profile but was a little dry, could have used a sauce or cream. Lemon Tart had a very lemony flavour but not very sour, which I would have preferred. I do think overall the pastry cases were a bit tough and thick along the board, we left a fair bit behind. Coffee was nice as well, will definitely be back to try some other sweets! Also it’s dog-friendly.

We popped in for pudding after a walk around town. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our visit. The coffee was good. We tried a selection of the tarts, I had the chocolate and truffle. Audrey’s Tearooms is a charming old-fashioned tea room in Winchester that offers a variety of afternoon teas, including options for those with dietary restrictions such as gluten-free and vegan. The tearoom provides a delightful experience, with the option to enjoy cream tea or indulge in a full afternoon tea. The tearoom's accommodating nature was highlighted by one visitor who hired the upstairs for a hen party, praising the owner's efforts to ensure their satisfaction and comfort.
If you're visiting Winchester you have to visit this place. As you walk up the main shopping street you'll see signs for Parchment Street which is where a number of really nice shops and cafes are located and Audrey's is definitely one of them. The place is much bigger on the inside than it appears from on the street with a number of different rooms available. We just had a light lunch, but if you're feeling inclined you could go the whole hog and have a full afternoon tea. Our neighbouring table had this and it looked amazing. We only wished we had more time to come back and sample this but that will have to be for another Winchester trip.. Our food came out quickly and was as delicious as we expected. The owner (don't know if this was Audrey) was delightful and even gave us a number of recommendations for places to see when we were heading off to our next stop in the New Forest. Definitely a place to visit if you are ever in Winchester.

Today we visited Audrey’s Tea Rooms for an afternoon tea to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The detail that went into the set up was amazing. Ruth had gone out of her way to make sure there was a clock hanging above our heads in recognition of one year being married. She also had set the table up with the beauty and the beast rose and garland and prosecco glasses…Beauty and The Beast is my absolute favourite Disney film ever!!!! The food was fresh, super tasty and there was so much of it I had to take a cake home to enjoy for later. Absolutely outstanding and would recommend anyone visiting Winchester to visit. Thank you so much for making our special day perfect!!!!

We hired the upstairs of Audreys for my sister in laws hen party. Ruth went out of her way to accommodate us, regularly checking we were happy and if there was anything they could do to help. She even went out to Robert Dyas to buy a fan as it was an unseasonably hot day! She catered to our individual dietary requirements and i don’t think there was anything else she could have done to make it more of a success. The food was amazing and plenty of it (she even gave us boxes to take leftovers home). Highly recommend x

I really wanted to like it here - I went for a special occasion and we had the afternoon tea, and it seemed perfect to start with - historic vibes with RAF memorabilia on the walls and proper thin China tea cups for our tea. On the positive side, they serve a full gluten free afternoon tea, which is great. We emailed in advance so that they knew we were coming and not to risk them running out of gluten free bread or something (it’s happened before!) The tea was proper good loose leaf tea and lovely little tea cups, which I really enjoyed, and overall the food was good. The sandwiches and scones I had for the ‘normal’ tea were delicious and there were masses of jam and cream to go with them. Sadly there were small things which just marred the experience a bit, leading to the 3 star review. The gluten free tea only only came with one scone, while the ‘normal’ one came with two, which seemed unfair as the scones were the same size. The gf scone was also super crumbly, falling apart every time it was lifted up. The three sponge cake bites were alright but all kind of tasted the same and not particularly of any flavour. Sad when there were some fantastic looking cakes on the counter. There were plenty of empty tables but our reserved table was directly in front of the open door, meaning that it was a bit damp and everyone coming and going walked right past us. We only had one set of culterly between us and when we tried to ask for another it took a long time to get the attention of anyone as all four staff were chatting intently in the kitchen area. All just little things, but they added up We were also charged more than the website had said when we looked the day before - apparently they had just changed their menus that week, which is happens and while it was only £3.50 more per person, the cost already was that of something special and basically while alright, it was not special enough to be worth the cost.
Bethan D — Google review
Very cozy place, with nice decoration! The food was really good and the service was polite. The reason I am rating with 3 stars only is that they close at 5pm and we were finishing our coffee around 4h50pm and they started to say that they were closing, asking us to pay and making us feel a bit uncomfortable, since we were finishing our coffee and tea. We felt like they were saying "Get out of here!". It was a bit strange for us, but ok. We would be back (not close to 5pm anymore) because we really liked the food and the place.

Nice little tea room in Winchester, away from the busy high street. We had a lovely quick lunch and cream tea here. The loose tea earl grey was very good, so were the fruit scones. The Winchester Bakery is a cozy spot that offers a warm refuge on cold, rainy days. The friendly and cheerful waitstaff provide excellent service from the moment you step inside. The coffee is highly praised, earning a perfect 10/10 rating. Filled croissants are among the delightful treats available. While the ambiance could benefit from some Christmas decorations and cleaner tables, the historic charm of the building adds to its appeal.
The sausage roll was of a generous size. The texture of the croissant bread was perfectly crisp, flaky crust and ofc tender on the inside.

Lovely little bakery. I had a takeaway vanilla and hazelnut cruffin and it was perfect. Friendly staff as well.

The rain was coming down sideways and it felt like 4 below......the sign on the door said "come on in. Its warm in here" so we did....and the sign did not lie. Very good service from the beginning. Lovely helpful and cheerful waitresses and a great cup of coffee. Filled croissants were excellent. All very enjoyable except the tables were a bit grubby and could have done with a clean. A few Christmas decorations would not have gone amiss and on a personal note......I dislike dogs in restaurants, especially wet ones.

Visited this amazing bakery with my friend and colleague during a school trip and couldn't be any happier. Excellent coffee and polenta cakes and the staff were super nice. We came here 25 minutes before closing time and felt really welcomed as we were also offered a discount on the cakes. A big thanks to the barista who saved me from a man who was following me to the bathroom. My friend told the guy I was in danger and he didn't hesitate for a second and ran up to save me. Thank you for that and for the whole experience!:)

We had two cappuccinos and 3 pastries. Cappuccinos we good, however the pastries we given to us cold cold cold. The staff does not look like if they cared. For 20£ that’s a robbery. I don’t recommend this place.

This is a very tricky review score to give as it was a very mixed bag having lunch here. The kombucha would have been nice to have had glass with ice but not a big deal. However the sandwich that cost £7 was shocking it was mostly bread, hardly any chicken, sweetcorn or even lettuce. I have had better sandwiches in Lidl grab and goes that cost less than half what I paid for this sandwich. But the cake was fantastic and almost redeemed the whole thing. My top tip don't have Lunch here but a cheeky slice and coffee would be a great idea.

Lovely independent bakery (so rare!) with nice bread, drinks as well as sweet and savoury items that are great for a lunch in the park or indoors on the renovated 16th century first floor. Loved the blend of Italian focaccia with British flavours beef, horseradish and rocket, and enjoyed the lavish brownies!

Such a beautiful little bakery in the heart of Winchester. I had the pumpkin red striped croissant and I absolutely died and went to heaven. It was amazing, crispy and buttery and flaky and autumns.
