The 39 best cheap eats in Cheshire

We're not especially fans of American cuisine but as Sticky Walnut were doing it for their set menu this month we decided to give it another chance and expand our taste. It's still not my favourite but the frickles (deep fried, very lightly tempura battered pickles), barbequed Boston beans, and fried chicken with collared greens were all raised to level well beyond the norm. Very unusually for me, the puddings were the standout course; New York cheesecake was delicious, and Honeycomb ice cream served in a chilled glass with cracking good solidified chocolate sauce, absolutely fantastic. Service was lovely, very friendly and charming. Excellent value, £23 each for all three courses. I don't think you can do better in Chester.

First timer here. Small intimate restaurant. Absolutely delicious food. Presented so well that we felt like judges on Masterchef. Our server was lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We visited Sticky Walnut last night after hearing great things about it from several people. The restaurant has a strong reputation, so we were really looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The menu had just changed and was quite limited. For our main, we had little choice but to order the double steak for two — not ideal since my partner prefers rare and I like medium. The steak arrived cooked somewhere in between, but it was on the small side and definitely not enough for two people. The potatoes were under-seasoned and rather dry, and while the salad looked pretty and fresh, it felt more like a garnish than a proper side. For starters, we had the bread and butter, but the butter was simply smeared on the side of the plate and the presentation was disappointing for a restaurant with this kind of reputation. Service was mixed — it took about 15 minutes before we were served, though once Camilla came over, she was lovely and chased up our drinks promptly. The wine was on the expensive side but unfortunately not the best quality. We did raise our concerns, and to their credit, the staff were understanding. They offered complimentary drinks, which was appreciated and did make us feel better. However, even after the discount, the total came to around £100, and we still left hungry — we actually stopped for McDonald’s on the way home. Overall, while the service was friendly and they tried to make things right, the food and value for money just didn’t match the high expectations or the reputation

Easily. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. I would put this up there with the forestside, Gilpin and the stamp house in Ambleside. Ordered the steak tartare and to round it off the sirloin sharing board (for two) just for me haha. My other half had the halibut This was honestly phenomenal!!! I will rush back. Staff are sooo sound as well. BLOODY LOVED IT ha

I visited SW with 2 girlfriends this week. They have a new Chef - Luke and a new menu. The best restaurant meal I have had in Chester it was delicious. Great menu - I started with steak tartare followed by the monkfish in lobster sauce. All beautifully prepared and presented the flavours were perfection. The staff were wonderful. Attentive without being intrusive. We had a fantastic evening. Would highly recommend.

Very poor experience unfortunately. Food is great. Service was slow and the experience was poor. We were moved after being settled from a nice warm room, to a cold upstairs table with no atmosphere. Nice staff but need better planning needed.

We always enjoy the food here, tasty with a delicious twist. Lunchtime menu was top notch as a birthday treat. A mistake was made with the bill, charged fir evening 2 courses instead of Lunchtime charge. However this was soon rectified when we rang to explain. We previously used to visit here on a regular basis . The Food although it's not what we would class as blow your mind away it was always decent enough , the staff were friendly and the service overall is what we would say is of a decent standard . The restaurant could do with a good makeover however. On our last visit the restaurant was quiet and there was maybe only a dozen other customers . The Food was as it normally was as was the overall service. The main issue here though was when we left my Wife went to use the ladies lavatory. She immediately came back out and literally ran straight out . She got to the car saying she felt physically sick , basically someone had what can only be described as projectile diahorea everywhere. She said it hadn't happened that recently either so it must have been sometime since the toilets had been checked. I have to say the gents toilets are always pretty smelly and not what I'd class as that clean too in my experience so it's obviously not something the restaurant keep up on . Filthy dirty toilets are totally unacceptable and a health hazard and while I appreciate the restaurant can't totally control customers behaviour in these situations if they did take the time to actually regularly check these facilities then situations such as these would not occur . I have contacted Greene King regarding this bit unfortunately there response was just the standard reply blah , blah , blah

Went for a walk & popped in for a warm & food. Staff very helpful & knowledgeable with my allergies. My veg on my roast dinner were cold but they soon sorted it & gave me a fresh meal & offered me free drinks. Would definitely go again

Came here a couple of times: one for breakfast and one for lunch. Nice place and friendly atmosphere. Excellent value for money! Definitely recommend this place. On top of that we had Ellie taking care of us and boy she was fantastic! Such a lovely waitress.

Ellie looked after us today as we celebrated mum’s birthday. She was so attentive , happy & friendly & also sorted the cake out for us. The food was lovely & the service was great. Really enjoyed our meal here. We will definitely be back - fab service

Food was very nice, had fish and chips with mushy peas. No complaints with the food but the portion size was tiny. 15 chips and about a tablespoon of peas. I know this world is getting expensive but a bit more on the plate and I would go back more often. Went back 2 weeks later and ordered the 11 ounce steak with chips 2 eggs and peas with pepper sauce. I must say I haven't had a nicer steak in over 25 years, cooked to perfection with hardly any grissle. Well done that chef, I will be going back to try other dishes.

Food was lovely and hot, kids meal was on a deal for £1 which is great. Our waitress Ellie was very friendly and helpful and interacted with the kids.

This and That is an Indian cafe offering a variety of combo meals and snacks. The best part about this cafe is that it’s both budget-friendly and delicious. The ambience and service were decent, though nothing exceptional. I tried their rice, curry, and a snack, and was satisfied with the meal.

Had dinner here in Manchester and went with the daily menu. The food itself was alright, nothing special, but considering the price it was actually good value. I paid just £7 for a dinner, which is hard to beat.

Sensational cheap eat curry spot. 9 curries on the go. Three curries and rice with a can of pop for under a tenner, right in the city centre. Fancy, it is not. Proper decent social spot.

Oh my word what an absolute winner of a cheeky curry lunch 😋. Rice and 3 curries at its finest, little back street place that you would miss unless you knew it existed. I got there soon after opening and it had already started filling up. Great food, great staff. Next time in Manchester have a nose,you know uou want to 🫡

I’ve really learnt to never judge a place by it looks. The food was very authentic and the cost was insanely cheap. With an average of £7 per dish, it was very filling. I loved the fast service and excellent food quality.

Lives up to the hype. We didn't get rice and three only because Nehari was on the menu so we got a full portion of that. Delicious. Got mango lassi too which was very affordable and hit the spot. Can't wait to go back. Staff very upbeat and chatty.

£8 for 3 delicious curries and a Chapatti, what's not to love! I use a wheelchair and there's one big step to get in, it's small inside but the staff are Very accommodating. If you can manage the step give it a go!

We visited this lovely place with our family and it was absolutely wonderful. We tried pierogi ruskie (potato and cheese), pierogi with cabbage, and pierogi with spinach—all of them were absolutely delicious. You really can’t go wrong with any of the flavours! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and it’s also dog-friendly, which was very helpful for us. We even took some pierogi home to enjoy later. Thank you so much for having us today—we can’t wait to come back🤗

Love the Polish dumplings and borscht, we added fried garlic on top. The dumplings are very similar to Chinese dim sum dumplings and Japanese gyoza. The borscht is a broth, it's really good on a cold day. It's a hole in the wall so there's not much room to dine in and they only take cash.

A must try. Amazing flavors that warm your belly. The menu is super simple (various types pirogies and a couple types of soup) which made things easy! Everything tastes fantastic. It’s a small place but the atmosphere is quite cozy if you’re able to snag a seat. Highly recommend!

Very delicious pierogi / polish dumplings, tried all the flavours and all of them taste really good, authentic and all are made with polish ingredients according to the owner. There will be one that is your favourite. Will come back again. It’s Cash only or bank transfer.

Authentic and very different place for the UK and europe in general. I’ve only had Ethiopian once in my life before (in France) and this place didn’t disappoint. It was very authentic (you could see so many natives eating there), delicious and the portions were very generous, and the people very warm. The service however was very slow - I think they were understaffed and couldn’t handle how busy it gotten for a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommended tho if you want to try sth different! We go 2 mains to share and a vegetarian menu as salad and they came with tons of 🫓 their local bread. The lady showed us how to eat with the pita bread as spoons. The prices were super honest but they could work a bit on the interior (it was inside a kebab shop on the top floor) all I. All tho the food and the experience were delightful!

Nice difference to alot of the other food on offer in Manchester. Thought the veggie options were very good aswell. Very friendly staff who clearly care about the food they serve and what it means.

Habesha is my favorite restaurant in Manchester. I’ve visited it at least 15 times, and I keep coming back for the same consistently amazing quality. It serves the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had, and the staff are always incredibly friendly and welcoming. The prices are very reasonable, especially since we usually share one meal between two people. I highly recommend trying the Yetsom Beyaynetu - it’s my absolute favorite, and I also recommend trying their coffee. Pictures attached are from multiple visits to Habesha.

Food was SO good. Came with a friend, we were both craving Ethiopian, got the spicy doro wat and the mild lamb, and both were incredible. We practically licked the plates clean. The injera was clearly fresh and wonderfully spongy, lamb was very tender and doro wat is one of the best I’ve had outside Ethiopia. Food is reasonably priced, portions are generous, the decor is homely and our waiters were super friendly, will definitely drop by again next time!! :)

The service was very nice and friendly, we arrived when the restaurant was half empty, we waited half an hour for food. We had beef and chicken with their traditional pancake. I have to praise the chicken which was made tasty and interestingly seasoned. On the other hand, I did not like the beef at all, the meat itself was of poorer quality and it was seasoned with very different spices for my taste.

I don't think there's anything really wrong with the place, just that we went on a quiet night, so not a lot of atmosphere. I didn't like the food but it could just be because it's not what I am used to. I didn't like the bread/tortilla used for the food. I'd say it's worth trying though if you want something different than the usual, just be prepared to not enjoy it. I'm still glad I tried it. It was busy with pick ups and delivery drivers so clearly is enjoyed by a lot of people from the community.

An amazing find. Truly authentic with a lot of attention paid to the the quality, taste and presentation of food. We shared 3 dishes between us and were unable to finish despite wanting to eat more since the flavours are so amazing. There are 2 amazing vegetarian options, we had one and it really was great! Great service, comfortable environment and service was first class. Will definitely be back!

Amazing place - found via Michelin Guide. Food quality was beyond expectations - particularly the foccaccia was super tasty. Variety was perfect and everything was very fresh. Location and the atmosphere of the restaurant are perfect too! Highly recommended to visit - worth to make a reservation.

Was nice to sit by the window watching passerbies. Liked the fact that wine is served by glass or carafe by default, since the two of us never manage to actually finish a bottle. All the dishes were classics with a twist, such as Caesar salad, but with ox tongue. Service was friendly and unimposing. Overall, great experience. The place is tiny, so book in advance.

Lovely reataurant staff very attentive and knowledgeable about the wine and food. Food was amazing not something you see or eat everyday. The only issue was they don't take cash which to me is awful they were very lucky we had our card otherwise they would of been forced to take cash. And to be honest this type of issue is part of the problem which will eventually have us being a cashless society which I totally don't agree with.

Spectacular food, friendly service a unique wine list in a fresh, bright setting; a stand out in the Chester dining scene. Bold, bright and fresh flavours; Black pudding and pork fritters delicious, whipped cod roe was a top dish with banging flavours, gnocchi was heavenly! A top meal and should be on your list if you visit or live in Chester.

One of the best places to eat and drink great wine in the North West, go and try it for yourselves. Dishes are created with care, attention and a plate culture that is exceptionally well thought out whilst the wine selection is overall incredible. It's not about the quantity, the quality here is what matters and you get that all in a setting that wants you to discover new flavours without any labels of associated pretentiousness. Big kudos to all the team.

We came due our anniversary and every single aspect of our dining experience was exceptional. Every mouthful was bursting with flavour, even down to the carrots! We couldn't recommend this place enough! They were very hospitable and attentive, a purely positive experience!

If you want a quiet restaurant this is definitely not IT. Now if you want a lively happy restaurant then you have found it. It is noisy with conversations and laughter. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is of great quality and very well cooked. A most enjoyable meal. Great value for money.

We’ve been to Chez Jules in Chester to celebrate our 10th anniversary. And what an incredible experience we’ve had there. It was a great surprise, we had delicious food and Ula who was our waitress delivered an impeccable service, she was extremely friendly and kind. Our special thank you to make our special day even better!

This has been such a good experience. Firstly, the french onion soup is divine. Really one of the best I've ever had. As a main I ordered a pork belly, and the sauce was so rich, it really made the dish to be great. The wine was also very good, I took a glass of pinot noir and enjoyed it. The staff were very professional and kind. This is place is a must if you're in Chester.

Party of 15, everyone had something nice to say about the food. Relaxed place to celebrate or dinner for 2 The lamb rump was regarded as the best they had eaten by two farmers! Any place that serves rhubarb cheesecake deserves a medal!!

I went here for my partner's birthday meal and we were absolutely blown away with how incredible the experience was. We decided to go for their set lunch menu at a very reasonable £35 for two courses (bearing in mind a single main on the evening menu is £40 average), the staff were very pleasant and the sommelier was fantastic - my partner and I love Romanian wine and it just so happened that so did he so we had excellent discussions across some of the best food I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend the iberico pork tasting for the main - it was unbelievable to have such a variety of cuts and styles in one dish, 10/10.

Outstanding. Just chanced Chef's Table on a day in Chester, and it was a total treat. Understated care and attention throughout. I eat a lot a soup, but wouldn't usually pick it in a restaurant. Was drawn in by aubergine being the main ingredient, and so glad I was. Couldn't imagine how it could've been any tastier. Just kept getting better from there on in. Ridiculous value and super nice people, who seemed as happy to be there as we were. Photos don't do it justice

We went for the set lunch, which for the money was really good value, overall some really tasty and enjoyable food that was well presented, would recommend and would go back. Haggis fritters as a pre starter were a smash. The starter of halibut and fregula was gorgeous, everything complemented and enhanced the dish, a lovely light pasta dish. Braised bavette was a surprise full of flavour. The pork selection was fine, rib was melting, but rest just missed the point, nothing to complain about but not as good as the other dishes. The desert was nice , but each dish had 1 element that didn't quite work, the basil sorbet was a bit over powering, and the piece of rhubarb needed a bit more poaching as it had a bit too much bite. Maybe some of the dishes could have done with 1 or 2 ingredients less. Service was relaxed and really friendly.

We went for my husband's birthday and had the set lunch menu. The food was incredible, the featherblade beef wow! Lunch menu was great value for money and we really enjoyed the whole experience.

We went as a family of seven for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely first class. Expertly prepared, good portions and good value for money. The service was friendly, attentive and hit just the right note. The staff were particularly attentive to our elderly parents. My wife's allergies which whilst minor weren't disclosed beforehand were immediately accommodated and an alternative sauce was offered to her chosen dish. I can't think of anything that could be improved.

We enjoyed the most superb meal at Chef's Table on Sunday 19th October. It was the second visit for myself and I'd been raving about it and couldn't wait to go back. It's such a gorgeous restaurant with a lovely bar area. The food is absolutely delicious and so well presented, the staff are so friendly, professional and knowledgeable, the service is excellent and having the expertise of their Sommelier, Cino Noir just makes it a delight. I cannot wait to go back again. Thank you to everyone for such a fabulous meal and a wonderful experience!

Couple of nights away in Chester so we looked at what was on offer. Despite giving less than 30 minutes notice we booked a vegan tasting menu and a non fish tasting menu. Excellent food and excellent service. We opted for the paired wine flight and they all complemented very nicely. All in all heartily recommended.

Lovely place and an amazing service. We had a lovely gentlemen named Todd who was amazing, super kind and understanding towards our dietary needs and constantly was checking ensuring it was correct! The food itself was ok, the portion size for the price I felt was a bit small and some things that where mentioned on the menu did not come with the meal such as the marble pencil with the double chocolate brownie. But overall a lovely place, great atmosphere and lovely service!

First time here for us.... The team are so professional, polite and attentive - just amazing! The food was unbelievable... we had the bacon chop and the pork belly....just delicious! We would give higher than 5 and would totally recommend. We are staying at the hotel too....the rooms are clean,welcoming and perfect. We will definitely use again!

The whole menu and allergen lists were available for me to choose from. Since I'm gluten and lactose free easting out can be difficult but this honestly was a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole team really looked after me. Honestly thanks so much. I'll be sure to visit again. The food was really well cooked and tasty and it felt great knowing it was completely safe for me.

Just had a great night in The Bears Head. Happened to drop on a night where there was a singer on which was lovely 😁 greeted by Micheal who was really welcoming (found out this was the manager) Todd recommended their house red which was lovely (Merlot) they were equally welcoming and friendly. We had their pizza and chicken kebab which came with a gorgeous feta salad and beetroot flat bread, yummy. Ended the night with a coffee and a mini desert each (Bakewell pudding and my friend had the brownie, equally yummy) just enough sweetness without feeling over faced. Found out the chefs were Sharon and Sophie that night. Lovely place, lovely atmosphere, fab food and great staff. Will definitely be going back. Thank you 😊

I came this morning and had a great breakfast and coffee whilst having a change of scenery from working at home. This evening I am back again enjoying the quiz night. Whenever you go to the Bears Head you can expect great food and drink and a great time. Daisy my assistance dog is always welcomed and enjoys being their along with the other dogs. This has to be the best pub and quiz night in Cheshire.

Always good food and quick service, we eat here regularly with our young daughter. Service always friendly and polite, as well as patient with our daughter while she chooses her food/ drink.

Picked for a night away with my wife. And so glad I picked to come here. When we arrived the welcoming was fantastic with a lovely friendly smile. Then later on went for a meal. Served from a lovely lady called Kirstyn. Very attentive and looked after us very nicely. Food was delicious and such a lovely atmosphere. Just perfect for date night with my wife. If I'm ever back in the area I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Great place, great staff and great food what more can you ask for.

Eaten from the normal menu loads via takeout/online ordering, but today we ate in and had the breakfast. Tried the Morning Glory - hands down best breakfast menu item I've ever eaten, along with a brilliant brew (I want to buy one of those mugs!) and lovely atmosphere. Service was top notch, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back for more brunches and sandwiches.

We were in Manchester for 2 days and had to try Northern Soul as their sandwiches looked amazing. So that's what we did. We got there at around 11:45am and it was fairly empty, but then as dinner time approached it stared filling up quickly! The staff were so nice and friendly, the building was cool and trendy and the food was absolutely unreal! My mam ordered the El Jefe with a side of Mac N Cheese, and I ordered the Bacon Jam with extra fried chicken. The first bite was like biting into perfection, meaty but also sweet at the same time, then savoury from the bread. The rest of the sandwich didn't last log after that! Mam said the El Jefe was one of the best sandwiches she's ever tasted - and she's a mam who has made sandwiches for years! I would 100% recommend a trip to Northern Soul for an amazing food experience 😀

Atmosphere: I did online order and not dine in but the place was quite at the time I went which was after 2pm Service: young man at the front bit flustered and back and forth. Young lady who prepared the item was nice and pleasant. Food: I ordered The Soul : a 3 cheese blend in a sourdough bread : for me it was cold and bread was little hard. The 3 cheese blend made is abit salty and bread I think buttered too much for my liking.

Undoubtedly, this is the best grilled cheese sandwich restaurant in Manchester. Many people might tell you curry mile as the gem of Manchester. Don't listen to them - the true gem of Manchester lies in the Nirthern Quarter. And, this one, is truly one of the bests in the Northern Quarter. If you are around, and want to grab a bite on yummy cheesy sandwiches - this is the right place to go. Among the items we tried, the Bang Bang Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich was so yum, best I have ever had in Manchester. And, it went to well with the Jamaican Beer I had. Last but not the least: the staffs were very nice and friendly. One heads up: on weekends - you can expect a long a queue. But, on weekdays, its easier to find a table even during the lunch time.

Lovely relaxed spot serving phenomenal grilled cheese sandwiches! My wife had the bacon jam one and I had Nduja/hot honey one with added crispy chicken. Had some mac and cheese as well, massive portion and really gooey. Perfect comfort food the morning after a night in the Northern Quarter. Peach iced tea and Paloma both helped too! Shout out to Will who was super lovely and walked us through how to get the most out of our food.

We got to try the new menu and honestly it is brilliant. We had the bang bang chicken and it was the best sandwich I have ever had. My wife had the beets sandwich and she said it was so flavourful. The staff were also super attentive and friendly, cannot recommend more highly!

The pizza was amazing – fresh, tasty, and just what we needed. Campana is very good dish 💗 But what made the whole experience even better was waitress lovely service. They are so warm, friendly, and sincere. You could really feel their heart in what they does. I’ll be back again for sure, and I’ll tell my friends too. A place with great food and even greater people. Thank you for giving me a good experience which feeling i am in Italy 🇮🇹 the staff her name meaning “ white and pure” which is very nice to us Feel warm and passionate indeed .

We visited Rudy’s Pizza on Saturday evening around 9:00 PM, about an hour before closing, and were pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went. Despite the place being busy, we were seated immediately without any wait, and the staff had no issue accommodating the three of us. Since it was getting late, we decided to place our full order right away. The food arrived impressively fast. Our server, Laura, was absolutely fantastic—friendly, attentive, and cheerful throughout, even when we asked a few silly questions. She made us feel genuinely welcome. We kept it simple with a Margherita, a veggie pizza, and garlic bread. The garlic bread was out of this world—definitely a highlight. My wife and I shared the pizza, and there was still enough left to take home. To top it all off, when the bill arrived, we noticed they hadn’t charged us for our drinks, and they even gave our little girl a complimentary brownie. We were told the drinks were on the house. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and a big shoutout to Laura for making our evening so memorable.

Such good service from the minute we walked in! Staff were all so welcoming and made us feel so comfortable. Food came out so quickly which we appreciated and it was incredible! Garlic bread is always a must, followed by a Carni pizza with garlic alioli & hot honey. Great evening & atmosphere ♥️

This place was great, the staff were lovely, the food was awesome. Totally recommend the pizza and dips. The only thing that let it down for me was that I nipped in to the toilet and the gents was occupied so I popped into the disabled loo and was confronted by a swarm of around 10 mosquitoes circling in the middle of the toilet cubicle - horrific for someone who doesn't like these blood sucking beasts and desperate to sash their shoes. I had to go through with it and hope for the best 😱. I didn't let this spoil my time there, but could have done without the experience.

A+ place, I wish I lived here in Manchester, I’d be here every week. The staff were wonderful and genuinely lovely. Food came out in a timely manner, and the tables and utensils and condiments were clean. Best meal of my trip. Worth a visit!

What a lovely midweek treat! Tried the specials tonight and they were excellent. Lisa was so lovely - she even gave us a free dip when we asked to take away a slice! Couldn’t let it go to waste!

Went to rudys amazing service, Roshien was an amazing server. Super friendly and made me feel at home and all my friends! She made my visit so good! Also the food was amazing!

Popped in for a dinner with friends. A hidden restaurant underground between subway. Didn’t realise it’s a full vegetarian Indian restaurant. Ordered one of each that was recommended from the Bundo menu. I had the BUNDO CHAAT £6.75 - loved this, however it was just samosa pastry with sauces and chickpeas. PANEER TIKKA £8.50 - loved this, cheese and veg grilled skewers,. PANEER KADAI £8.50 - cheese in tomato curry sauce, it was so overpriced, but it came with a bread, it was far too spicy without any warning, so had to leave this dish. It’s around £6-8 per dish, a side and a drink. My order total came to £37 😭 it was definitely far more than I expected to spend on such small dishes. Overall, I felt it was really overpriced as there was was no meat in the dishes and portion size was small. It did taste good, so Maybe would be favourable for the veggies, but I did feel it was not worth it. Especially when I had ordered quite a bit and staff didn’t advise that it came with a bread. No additional carbs was required, a lot went to waste. Atmosphere was great, quiet with some music in background. Great for catch ups.

Absolutely love Bundobust Brewery in Manchester! The food is next-level — bold, flavourful Indian street food, all veggie (lots of vegan options too). The okra fries and Tarka Dhal are musts. Great range of craft beers brewed on-site, all paired perfectly with the food. The vibe is chill, and the staff are super friendly. Perfect for casual drinks or a full-on feast. Can’t wait to go back

Second time at bundobust now and both times really enjoyed it. Had the combo for 2 and then added on some okra fries and the burger (vad pad I think?) all the dishes were great and the combo is perfect to try a bit of everything! Great beer selection also!

Awesome place with great food. The vibe is super chill, there are many places to be seated and the place was packed but we got a table immediately. Service was fast - we ordered combo for 2 and it was delicious (my guy almost died from spiciness tho). Would definitely go back again.

Every mouthful was a blissful tastebud sensation. The depth in flavour was phenomenal. I came her on. Whim after searching for vegetarian eats in Manchester and it’s the best thing I’ve done. I will return to try more of the menu and bring friends too

Bundobust in Manchester is exactly the kind of spot I wish existed everywhere delightful Indian street food served with immaculate craft beer (think ‘Bombay Dazzler’ or a Cloudwater ale). The vibe is unpretentious and buzzing, with inventive dishes like okra fries, vada pav, and paneer & mushroom tikka stealing the show. Every bite tastes lovingly made in a casual, colourful basement under a glass skylight. It’s totally veggie friendly, wallet conscious, and laid back enough for weekends or a relaxed night out with friends. Just be aware it gets busy fast, the seating is functional (no frills), and a couple of dishes could use a little tweak. But honestly, if you’re craving flavourful snacks and a great beer in a fun setting this is your place.

I’ve been itching to try the Sunday roast, as we booked late, we pre-ordered the roast (to avoid any risk of running out) which was great that they could accommodate this, and were glad we did as we were advised they had run out when we came to be seated! They are also very dog friendly which is also a bonus! The main negative is that we found the service was incredibly slow, our drinks sat on the side of the bar for nearly 20 minutes until we asked our server about them, the wine wasn’t poured and just placed on the table (the table next to us were served their wine and asked to taste it). We also had to wait nearly 25 for someone to take our dessert order too. The roast was lovely with the exception of the carrot and swede mash which tasted like it had soap in it(?!) the beef was really lovely, perfectly cooked, very tender and full of flavour. The gravy was really full of body and flavour, not too salty but a perfect match for the meal. The yorkshires were also incredible, however the potatoes did taste a bit dry and weren’t crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The desserts were lovely, the sticky toffee trifle was definitely an interesting idea and not something I’ve ever had before. I did flag the service issues to the manager who was incredibly helpful and understanding, which definitely made the evening better for us. I would definitely like to go back and give the roast another try!

Lovely friendly pub, great staff, great selection and quality of beers and some excellent food. Relaxed but higher-end gastro that welcomed us despite having been out walking all day. Will definitely go back!

The food was stunningly good. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph it. . . We had the steak burger (absolutely delicious!) the steak pie, sticky toffee pudding, and the white chocolate sundae! All of which we'd highly recommend!

Sunday lunch yesterday, worst yorkshire puddings we have ever had, beef great, pork tough, at least 8 other plates went back with yorkshire puddings, not cheap at this establishment, so easy making yorkshire puddings, come on guys. We won't eat here again. Karen & I had fish & and chips. Mushy peas, garden peas, onion rings. The quality of the fish was excellent as we're everything else. Jamie, the server was fantastic, and the service was brilliant . The rooms are good value and comfortable. Dinner was excellent, although service was a bit slow. Breakfast food wasn't as good as dinner but I would still stay there again.

Met friends for a really lovely Sunday lunch. Absolutely delicious roast beef! Great, relaxed, unhurried service, which we appreciated.

We stopped here for a quick dinner whilst in chester and I highly recommend it. In the evenings it does get quite busy but service is super fast, and they turn around the tables quite fast. We got seated immediately on arrival by a very friendly team. Tapas are lovely, with a lot of variety. The Toritilla and Prawns came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. All in all, it was a lovely evening and we had a great time.

I spotted this place last time we were in Chester and wanted to try it when we came back. It did not disappoint. Every member of staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. We didn't wait long at all for a table on a busy Friday evening. The Porta Spritz was the nicest spritz I've had. The food was delicious. We would definitely return to try other dishes and highly recommend.

I won't write too much. I'll just say thank you for the wonderful flavours you left us with, the crispiness on the palate, the swallows we look forward to with every sip. I won't write long reviews or make pretentious comments to people who know their job best. I'll just say that I had some lovely memories here as I passed by, and that I'll be back, you lucky people. To those on the back street, I'll say that you're out of luck today too, because we swept up the spoils on the back street. I'm sorry, life isn't fair; if it were, I'd eat here every day.

Had a perfect meal here while staying nearby. Staff friendly and helpful. Cold food came really quickly and hot food didn't take long. Red mullet was "special" and was delicious. Blue cheese with walnuts (photo) was amazing. Sangria came in 1/2 litres which was good as we were in the car. Thanks for a really good meal - we love tapas as it gives you a chance to try an assortment of dishes.

I love this place. Tapas and drinks list are all compellingly authentic and a far cry from ubiquitous chain-style patatas bravas. The staff are easy going without being indifferent and the whole place is very relaxed. Great option to feel transported for an hour or two. One of the coolest bars in town upstairs too. I could eat and drink here all the time.

10/10 fantastic food, very attentive staff. Love that it's walk-in, all good brought as soon as it was ready, meaning we could pace our eating and not be overwhelmed with all the dishes at once. Best tapas I've had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection, nothing was left on the plates! Great quality, value for money. You will not be disappointed!

Really good food and service from start to finish, recommended dishes and drinks plus very friendly and welcoming. We ate outside as it was a nice day and we had our dog, the lovely staff brought her a bowl of water. Would definitely return and recommend.

Ate off the lunch menu. I appreciate that portion size will be slightly reduced, however it should be bigger than a child's portion. Serving a meal on a side plate to make it look bigger doesn't count. The pub itself is lovely, I'll certainly return for drinks.

Visited on a quiet Sunday for lunch. We were seated right by the fire which was very welcomed with the weather being particularly cold. We were served by Georgia who was very attentive throughout. The pork sunday lunch was fantastic, gravy and the creamy leeks made it. Great price for the portions.

Stumbled across the Pickering Arms through Google reviews and thought this seems a nice place to try for lunch. What a fantastic choice to come here, a real cosy vibe, amazing food and great service from Gillian. All at a cheaper price than I was expecting. 100% will be returning and bringing the family along too!

This Beautiful listed building has just had a change of management... They are hard at work putting their own stamp on an already fantastic venue. The photos show a the place is very clean and welcoming with a huge covered outdoor seating area. Beautifully decorated throughout this pub has masses of charm and character The new managers are very welcoming and said they are looking to get live music and open mic nights running soon. They will no doubt soon make this a fantastic place to enjoy the warm summer evenings.

Born and grew up in Thelwall, not eaten in The Pick for years but I'm glad to say the new landlords know exactly what they are doing. Sunday lunch was fab, very tasty and good value with efficient and friendly service. Really enjoyed ourselves, many thanks 👍 David & Kat (Edinburgh)

We visited for the first time for a Sunday Roast. Food was lovely but the service is what made our visit really good. There was a young man (didn’t catch his name) that was Very lovely, welcoming and kept asking if everything was ok for us. This Man is a credit to the team.

Sadly our food was disappointing! The crispy mushrooms didn't look appetising & didn't taste great either, my friend left half of them. My daughter & I shared the camembert & loved the presentation but the bread was over baked & difficult to eat. The hidden chutney inside burnt the roof of my mouth. The hanging kebabs were great, as was the sharing board! We had a new waitress serving us, but she was very friendly & attentive. The live music later in the evening made for a lovely atmosphere!

An interesting venue which offers an eclectic mix of pub, wine bar, and restaurant. Good range of beers, wine and cocktails. The food was excellent. An outside bar area and an upstairs dining and lounge area too. Live entertainment later on the evening with a fantastic female piano player/singer whilst upstairs was a DJ playing a great mix of songs. All in all once here there's no reason to go anywhere else. Highly recommended.

Such an awesome place with quirky decor, excellent service, a massive beer and ale list and really good decently priced food. Drinks are quite pricey though. Will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely atmosphere as we walked in & a warm friendly welcome from the staff, they were very pleasant & attentive. The food was very tasty & well presented. We felt happy & relaxed. It was great that we could park across the road in Waitrose & walk over. We had a lovely evening & will come again.

We went for a "quick lunch" and it was really nice. We tried a different hanging kebab each (the chicken and lamb) which you pour garlic olive oil over at your table, they were delicious and we will be going back to try other dishes.

What stood out the most in this place was its theme and decor. Really cool accent pieces and fixtures. Great service, the bartender recommended some great local ales. We didn't eat but I glanced at the menu and it looked good. Would love to come back and have some more drinks in this fantastic bar!

Amazing flavours, chic vibe, and decent service. The food and drinks were all fantastic - lovely cocktails, halloumi kebabs, and chilli chips. Drinks sizes were good, especially for only £8-10 each. The live music when we went on a Friday evening was a little loud for conversation, but otherwise zero complaints. There is street parking outside, and do recommend booking in advance if coming on the weekend.

We had a wonderful visit to the Botanist and will definitely be returning. We were in Knutsford to take our Beagle, Copper, to Tatton Park and was looking for somewhere dog friendly to get some lunch after. We'd been to a different restaurant on the high street before but on Sundays they had very limited menus whereas The Botanist had a main menu running alongside their Sunday Lunch menu which gave a lot of choice and was a big plus for us. On arrival the staff were fabulous with our dog, giving him fusses and treats and we were really accommodating putting us out of the way. The drinks menu is really extensive, even the alcohol free selection which was a bonus. We had a Sunday roast and a hanging kebab and can recommend both, Copper also enjoyed the veggies! Highly recommended, for dog owners and non- dog owners alike

We went for a sunday roast on a lovely sunny day. Restaurant is at a walkable distance from our place which adds to the whole experience. We were offered a nice table upstairs which was bright and sunny. For the starters we ordered cauliflower wings and nut roast for mains. We finished the lunch with a nice lemon tart dessert. The quality of food was awesome not too greasy, quantities were good as well. Especially loved the lemon tart with honey comb and raspberry sorbet which was fresh and refreshing. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel warm and welcomed. Would definitely go back here sometime to try the dinner menu.

Myself and 5 of my friends met for lunch this week, Monday, at The Botanist. Service was great, our waiter( apologies I have forgotten your name) was super polite, helpful and attentive… Food was absolutely delicious (, though one friend commented that the hanging prawn kebab could have been more hot) The restaurant was airy and there was plenty of room for us around the table. There was pleasant music playing in the background so we could hear what each other was saying!! We have booked for our Christmas get together already. I definitely recommend this lovely restaurant. I had already eaten there previously and again service was excellent.

Great atmosphere corteous staff ..Visited on a Monday lunch had coffee and a quick bite of lunch .Food was great so would definitly visit again ...Knutsford has lenty of shops and this place is set on a narrow street with plenty historical old buildings

My friend had came long way from my hometown to visit me and we visited this place. The stairs were quite steep but it was fine for us tho. I’m a big fan of summer rolls and it tastes great with the giant large prawn in each one, at another level with the sauce! The pho was classic and delicious too! We visited by the time around 8pm so it’s nice to enjoy a late dinner with something warm.

The food is nearly close to the original taste. I love the spring rolls and Bun Bo Hue (Hue beef). Prices are reasonable! Definitely will comeback

Perfect little spot for a quick, hearty meal. We didn’t book as it was a last minute find on a Saturday evening, but they were more than happy to accommodate walk-ins. The food is full of flavour, delicious! Great portion size. Ingredients tasted fresh. And gluten free options available too which is a bonus for me. Vegan options too - spotted on the menu. Great service, friendly, with a lovely atmosphere, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the busy street. Great vibe. So impressed with the price. Visited last night looking for something to warm me up. Had the Hu Tieu Nam Vang, aka Phở - Vietnamese tapioca noodles with prawns and pork. Walked in and was served straight away. Staff were very friendly and laid back. And the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Food was delicious and very filling! Definitely will be back whenever I'm next in Manchester!

Our go-to spot whenever me and my husband craves for a hearty Viet meal. We normally order their Pho Bo Tai (Raw beef cooked in its own broth), Cha Nem (Pork & Prawn Crispy Fried Spring Rolls), Nem Cuon Tom (Summer Rolls with Prawns) and Vietnamese Coffee. So flavourful and always hits the spot. Check them out if you're in the area.

Lived in Vietnam for 3 years and have struggled to find authentic Vietnamese since, but this lived up to it. Absolutely delicious food and great service. Highly recommend.

Excellent restaurant in Manchester’s Chinatown, very close to the city centre. I went for tea (evening meal) before a show. Friendly and efficient staff and great atmosphere. Food was served quickly, perfect as I was going to a show at “Home”. I did not feel rushed, so I could have taken longer. Steps down to the restaurant in the basement, so not good if you have reduced mobility, no sign of a lift. Food was delicious, I had pho chay, which was noodles, tofu and mushrooms. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The Fresh and tasty. Served with a large pot of tea, also delicious and too much to finish. Only £12.50, for a filling and tasty meal (one course) and a pot of tea. I shall definitely be going back.

Great place. We came away with bottles of local ales, chutney, meat and cheese. There are several different shops including clothing and camping. We'll worth visiting for all that alone but on top of it all there's the animals which our granddaughter loved seeing and feeding with the £1 bags of feed. Then having a tractor trailer ride around the fields, a play in the play area and an ice cream. Plenty of parking. Something for everyone.

My kids love petting the animals here especially the highland cows. We also had a look in the shop which has a great variety of local produce and also looks amazing too. A definite must visit.

Fabulous experience from 1 to 99 years old and it's free!! Donkeys Alpacas sheep pigs Shetland pony peacocks and many more animals to pet and feed. An aviary with parrots budgies golden pheasant and others.. Meerkats, small playground 1-10. Wash hands stations.. Farm shop with excellent range of food. Cafe.. Ice cream.. Arty shops and others. Great place to spend a couple of hours with little ones. And maybe spend some money too. Been loads kids always love it.

Absolutely love it here. It's free, you can purchase animal feed and also pay to have a tractor ride too. So much fun to be had.

It was lovely to see the animals, my girls especially loved the donkeys and the ponys. The £1 bucket of feed is well worth doing. It's a lovely little place and will definitely be back in the future.

Lovely place to take the children for a couple of hours to feed the animals & play on the playground. Nice cafe & shops to have a look around too.

Love going here with my assistant dog all staff are kind and helpful the farm shop I honestly say is Frist one that actually treats me and my assistant dog with respect and care no questions nice to not be judge keep up ace work such beautiful farm my favourite part is feeding the sweet highland cows there so adorable and gentle

Wonderful comforting roast dinner that takes Toby carvery, bends it over the knee of the dining room and gives it a thorough spanking. Loads of meat and gravy, beautifully cooked. Do yourself a favour and come in.

Small but perfectly formed menu at this lovely little cafe! The cheese toasty was exactly what we were hoping for, cooked to perfection using g sourdough bread and no holding back on the cheese!, a nice selection of hot and cold drinks, the passion fruit lemonade was divine and went great with the cheese toasty!…Will definitely be back next time we’re in Chester

Definitely the best coffee shop we have found in Chester. The açai bowl was absolutely beautiful, we received a very warm welcome from the lovely staff, coffee was great and they’re very dog friendly ☺️ Cant’t wait to return!

Great independent coffee shop. The staff are so friendly, nice and cheery. They go above and beyond and make you feel extremely welcome. The coffee is good and very well presented. There is also a nice selection of cakes and food which I did not have on this occasion, but was good when I have been in the past. Would recommend this place to support a great local business!

Wonderful little cafe serving fab food and drinks & cakes & snacks too. Great friendly staff too. Just need to improve on the unisex Toilet . I've been going for awhile now & me & a few other customers next to me today have said the same that there's a unpleasant metallic, rusty smell in the bathroom. Its very pungent. Otherwise it's perfect.

So close to my first 5* rating. The food was amazing, the steak pie was brimming with thick chunks of meat. The fish tasted super fresh and the chips were super tasty. The staff were really nice and they even less us sit inside with our dog.

Very good indeed, the colour and crunch of the batter, the freshness and texture of the fish, the good sit-in atmosphere, and the hit all-the-right-spot mushy peas, not much to go wrong and they definitely got it right.

The chip shop is central positioned and has seating inside and out - you order at the counter and take a table - they bring your order to you at no extra charge for sitting inside - very nice location all on one level a plus for disabled and wheelchairs - reasonable price for good fish and chips

Really really tasty and fresh fish and chips. It took a little while to reach us but once it did it was piping hot and lovely, clearly fresh out of the fryers. Good quality nuggets, real breaded chicken nuggets rather than what you get at a lot of other places which was more than I was expecting. I recommend this place for a lovely lunch out in Chester.

We grabbed a fish and chips takeaway and ate it outside — although it had started to drizzle, so not so perfect weather for it. The food was really tasty! Crispy batter, fresh fish, and the chips were spot on. The only thing is, the portions were a little on the small side. We were left wanting just a bit more. Still, great quality and a solid spot if you're after a classic chippy meal. Would definitely go again, maybe just with an extra side next time!

Extremely expensive for takeaway fish and chips yes but is it worth every penny and minute waiting in the queues ABSOLUTELY. They never fail taste wise, portion size has shrunk over the years but what businesses hasn’t really. Great location and friendly staff. We now only eat fish and chips from here or a place in Conwy as everywhere else doesn’t compare. Don’t get me wrong I would love them to either lower their prices or up portion sizes but I will still keep coming here regardless

The chip butty was nice and the service was good too. The only thing id suggest is having some music playing otherwise it's too quiet and possible to hear everybody else's conversation. Maybe get that door fixed too as it's sticking and people including myself thinking you're closed etc.

Heard great things about this place so had to try it whilst in the area( actually went back the next week) Great service, delicious fish and chips plus nice area to eat in or take out . Parking could be a problem but we went on our bikes and leaned them up outside.

The food tastes great but is extremely overpriced for the small portion you get, first time around my partner got fish chips half mushy peas & half curry £12, I got the kids portion fish and chips £6.80 and asked for some beans which was £2.60, total £21.40. we went again today ordered the same thing but this time I asked for the kids portion of fish and chips with mushy peas and swap them for beans which I wasn’t informed there would be an additional cost for swapping an item (didn’t think I would get charged for swapping as all the side pots bar curry are priced the same)I got charged 60p for the smallest portion of beans on top of my food I’ve ever seen, at least last time it came in a container and I actually left quite abit as it was a big portion of beans compared to this time around, we also felt the portion of food we got this time around was a lot smaller, my chips almost felt halved and even my partner agreed the fish looked smaller, not sure why there was price differences in both visits but due to the menu being overpriced for what you get albeit tastes great we won’t visit again due to the ambiguity of how much things cost (it’s displayed as a set price but charged differently?) just not very consistent nor trustworthy. I also left feeling hungry which I didn’t on our first visit, really disappointed.

Fish quality is excellent at Parkgate. The fish & chips is not cheap but this is an occasion when you get what you pay for. The servers get the food out as quickly as possible but most things are freshly cooked so expect a few delays Tiny place so limited seating;it's pot luck whether you get a table. But most customers are here for takeaway

The food is always decent which is why we went this time but a minnow under £30 to feed one adult and two children, especially sharing a large chips, seems a bit steep. Indeed, price checking the order against another good local chippy, the same order was 20% cheaper. The service was reasonably quick but the counter staff could do with being a little less gruff.

First time ordering, will definitely be the last. Ordered lemon sole, can see why it’s been named as the fish was as thin as the sole of a shoe disguised by an inch of batter. Cooked in old cheap oil which transferred to the batter. Also ordered was cod and chips, well literally a hand full of chips (no joke) Cod wasn’t anything to write home about, but again unfortunately cooked in the distinctive oil. Really disappointed, I can’t believe you would scrimp on the size of the portion of chips. It speaks volumes. “The less is more” doesn’t apply to a fish and chip shop!!

Not what it used to be. Thin, dry pieces of cod - half of which was greasy batter. Chips were ok if not undercooked and anaemic looking. Increased prices and stingy fish portions make this place one to miss.

Had amazing bank holiday here at Stonehouse Wheatsheaf inn Chester,the carvery was sensational! Fresh and hot plenty of choice,the service from the bar ,floor and chefs on carvery deck was brilliant made use feel welcome from the moment we walked in so politely and looked after us throughout our visit ,atmosphere was great great choice of music ,thank you so much ,we will definitely be back 😊

We absolutely love it! Can’t go wrong really, in love with their roasties😍 service is always great too! Lucy on bar is the loveliest lady such positive energy and easy to talk to , Brian’s a lovely bloke we had a good conversation with the guy, Kenny on the carvery’s always nice too, other staff members as well, it’s just nice people working there and good vibes in the place.

Update. This place seems to be on a downhill slide. I recently popped in for a breakfast but as it was 11:30 they had stopped serving breakfast and the carvery was up and running instead, well it would have been if there had been a carver at the counter... The whole time I was in the pub I watched time after time, people standing, waiting at the counter, waiting, and waiting untill one of the bar staff would notice and then go out back to chase the chef out to carve. I myself waited a good 15 to minutes to be served the thinnest and smallest slice of turkey I had ever been served in a carvery, anywhere! Maybe they had anticipated a slow day as there was actually very little on the hot plates. They ran out of items several times, leading to even longer waits. The usual crowd of happy eaters that you will find here had been transformed into a dour and sullen bunch, and their frustration was tangible. Such a disappointment compared to the usual dining experience I know and love here, finngers crossed that they were only having an off day. ===≈==========≈======= I was a bit reluctant to dine here, not because I had heard anything bad about the place but simply because it is a Stonehouse. I have never had a pleasant dining experience in one of their pubs. My daughter in law had, however, been here for an all you can eat breakfast experience and found it to be okay food but great service, so we decided to give their carvery a go. I have to agree with her, the staff and pub are amazing, friendly, attentive and the pub itself is well maintained a clean. The food is well cooked, it is, however, just so average... That being said, if you're dining on a budget and are looking for a no thrills roast, then this is the place to be. Honestly if the Alma inn in Lower Upham, Hampshire could get up to this standard I would start doing group rides there again but alas it has been a few years now and is still not worth a visit. So well done, Wheatsheaf, you turned this old soldier around, and I will be back for more, maybe not with 30 riders in tow but definitely with the family 👍 Edit. Popped back to try the breakfast, and I wasn't disappointed. £8.49 for an AYCE breaky with bottomless coffee, awesome. The coffee was not the best and a tad on the weak side. The food, while not being top quality, is well cooked and presented. All in all, a very, very good breakfast that is extremely good value 😋👍

The worst pub burger I have eaten! Really cheap meat and chips over cooked. My wife had a carvery and that was all dried up. Can't recommend.

ordered for the first time online for delivery so can’t speak for the service in the actual store but from the quality of the food we received i definitely won’t be visiting 🤢 burger was atrocious tough as old boots and low quality patty. chips had to have been reheated they were like rubber. only thing that was of decent quality was the roast potatoes.. definitely need to take these items off their menu if they can’t prepare them to an edible and acceptable standard. very disappointing to say the least! mcdonald’s has higher quality food

We visited on a Saturday afternoon so the food market was heaving with no where to sit, so outside in the rain we went! We chose this place as it smelt amazing. I had the smokey burger which was really nice and so were the fries. My partner had the spicy chicken burger (although he was annoyed it was actually mini fillets). The server was great and food took about 15 minutes. £25 for two burgers and one chips is a little steep but i suppose its the location.

Good burger. The portion was good. My piece of feedback is that the meat was a bit hard and it was a bit salty.

Very good burger place. I had the blue cheese burger, and it was brilliant. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that a burger with fries and a coke came to £19. This isn't a restaurant with large overheads £19 is too expensive.

Something has changed with this burger, has been my best ever burger since I first had one when the market opened, but something has changed very recently. Different meat, different buns, turned from the best, to bang average. Please go back to the way you were, and let me know when you do 👍

Great service and good atmosphere, but unfortunately the burger really lets it down. The beef is so tough, almost chewy. I rarely leave a bad review but had to be honest with this one. When there’s such good places right next door you’ve got to make a better burger than that. The chips are over salted, absolutely rammed full.

£11 for a chicken burger. Was edible, nothing special. Literally a tiny bit of limp shredded lettuce and abit of mayo. £11! Also had a can from the fridge....was warm. They must have it on the lowest possible setting.

I have wanted to eat here for years but living so far away never got the chance till now! Food was so good, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We had the Chorizo nachos and the pork belly special and could not fault it at all. Great selection of drinks as well. And obviously the music and general theme were the best! Cant wait to come back and try some more in the future.

I mean come on: tacos, margaritas, and heavy metal, what's not to love?! A must-visit every time we're in Chester. We shared the Thursday platter and had an extra portion of tacos each, and the flavours were to die for. Fresh, zingy, and incredibly moreish.

Me and my husband have been too many times to count now, cannot recommend enough. Whenever anyone tells us that they are visiting Chester, we always recommend to go here, or take them with us! The food is delicious, the drinks are great and the staff are brilliant. Our absolute fave is the Birria taco. You HAVE to try it. There is also quite an extensive tequila list which would also be rude not to try. An absolute must visit food spot if you’re in Chester. Also highly recommend visiting their instagram page, it is the gift that keeps on giving.

Love coming to DBT. the no reservation and Que is worth the wait. Hype is real! Unreal flavours in the beef Birria taco. Valentina wings and chicharron are favourites. The whole Menus is delicious with daily specials and superb cocktails. Margaritas top notch! Always taken care of when I come here. Super friendly and hard working staff. Great metal, punk rock skate vibes! Dont live local but always stop by here if In these ways. Will be back soon. Big ups!!!

Hadn't been since they left the small indoor market, but it's great to see them thriving in the town centre. Great service, and fantastic food. Easily the best nachos we've ever had, and the tacos we excellent.

A massive pile of food in a large, will feed 2 easily!! The food is Incredible, very quick and always busy, staff are amazing!!! We found this place back in 2017 and since then it is our go-to place for food in Crewe. Even after we moved to Manchester, we still drop by for a quick bite regularly. We highly recommended the Drunken Noodles and Signapore Noodles! The portions are hearty, with the regular size large enough for a filling meal. The noodles are rich in taste, and if you enjoy spice, drunken noodles are a good choice. The service is outstanding and quick. Meals are ready in usually 10-15 minutes and there is never a problem when we ask for specific ingredients not to be added. In addition, there is availability to sit down inside, which is great for the atmosphere of eating quick noodles. We would love an expansion to Manchester, so we can treat ourselves to these amazing meals more frequently.

Great little place for a quick Thai fix. Nice quality noodles and fresh ingredients. My only issue is that I would like the spice level to be a lot higher on the spicy dishes, like the drunken noodles.

Had Black Pepper Beef noodles x 2 large nearly £20 although the noodles were very nice there simply was no beef, must have had maybe 3 pieces of very small beef the rest was vegetables and we didn’t get much of that either mainly noodles and sauce. Very disappointing for the price I don’t think I will be back

I ordered the chicken pad Thai regular size and the packaging was packed to the brim. There was a lot of food for one person! I think it’s lacking in taste (I wish there was more peanut and heat to it). The crushed peanuts are extra, I believe. And perhaps the lime as well? Maybe I’m just used to Toronto Thai restaurants. Most people order the curry which I would want to try next time I come by.

Been tonight for my tea, service was good nice and friendly. The down fall was the young girl in there tonight served me and genuinely gave me 1 small potatoe worth of chips in a tray as big as it is. I ordered large fish and chips. Got a large fish but I think the rest of the chips have ran off.

Had a recent delivery for a large group, Nicky was amazing and dealt with every request efficiently. I’m so happy to have large cod with chips in The Big Fish. The fish finger barm was yummy. I love the tar tar sauce. I regret not to ask for double tar tar sauce. The chef and staff were friendly. Be aware that it closes at 2pm in the first shift.

We had a large fish (pollock) and a standard portion of chips. The price was £9.70. The serving was HUGE and there was easily enough for both of us. Perfectly cooked, very tasty and not at all greasy. An excellent traditional chippy.

Looking forward to my chippy tea from coral today. A normally good experience but for some reason todays fish was the worst I've ever had. The batter was thick and doughy. Hope this this is just a one off !

Read the reviews which rave about the quality of the fish & chips, claiming the batter is crispy and the chips are cooked properly. However, unfortunately upon getting everything on a plate back at home 5 mins after paying for it, the chips are soggy and squashed together with the consistency of mashed potato, and the batter was sliding off the fish due to how incredibly soggy it was. Feeling very dissatisfied as the reviews make this place look pretty good and they had plenty of business, however we won't be returning to this place again. £30 wasted and the majority of the plate in the bin, don't waste your hard earned cash. 👎

Food is fab and tasty. Tried the new buttermilk chicken tenders - they were a good portion and not dry at all! Usually order on deliveroo and everything is hot and perfect. Unfortunately this time round they missed off an item from our order (our family meal ended up being spread a bit thin) so I couldn't give 5 stars.

I came tonight for a haddock & when i got back to my car to eat it i found that the batter was wet& doughy& the fish had no taste!!it's not a cheap meal to throw in the bin so u came back to speak to you about it but you were very busy so I didn't want to cause a scene so i left my meal outside your shop on top of the bin which to be honest it was the best place for it!!!

Went to Poynton for a walk and popped into this local chippy for lunch. Ordered a small fish and chips for £5. Fish was freshly cooked and when it arrived the portion was anything but small. Fish was cooked to perfection and chips were lovely. Well worth the price which is almost impossible to find nowadays. Owner was friendly and very chatty 😁

Had the £5 small fish & chips . Small it certainly wasn't ! Lots of freshly cooked chips and a lovely fish . We sat outside at a table and the owner was very friendly and chatted to us about the history of the shop. I would highly recommend a visit if you want a quality fish & chip meal.

Large Haddock is my standard choice, batter was thin and crispy, chips are well cooked and portion size very large. Topped off with mushy peas, a little dry for my taste. All served with a welcoming smile, I cannot help but return again and again.

I've been coming to 'Marie Barry's' since I attended Fairfield School. If you fancy something a little different, a little old fashioned, here's the place. Devine mushy peas and gravy. Gave 4 stars because the chips were soggy on my last few visits. However, I would recommend Marie's to anyone.

I was disappointed after reading the reviews I found it expensive for the portion size with difficult on street parking. I travel the north west and review traditional chip shops that I come across. My review is only a snapshot on that day but I try to be very honest and say as I find. The portion size was small and the fish was oily, the batter on the fish was a golden colour and crispy the food was in a polystyrene container and handed to me in a plastic bag not what some chip shops are still doing due to environmental impact of the disposal of the waste. Chips are the cheapest part of the meal and the portion size should have been slightly bigger. The chips were however tasty and were crisp on the outside, they were slightly under seasoned (salt and vinegar) but that’s okay as you can add extra but can’t take it away! Friendly staff who cooked the fish to order. The chippy had good covid19 protection and guidelines and staff wore a mask all the time.

I recently visited a small falafel restaurant, and overall, it was a decent experience. The prices were reasonable, and the food itself was satisfying. One of the best things about this place is the fresh juices. They were a refreshing surprise, especially with the falafel. It added a nice, healthy touch to the meal. Overall, it’s a good spot if you’re after something simple, affordable, and quick, but don't expect a lot of variety. The fresh juices definitely make it worth a visit.

My friends and I used to go to this place. It's nice and good, but the last time I went, the service was bad. I paid for 6 falafel pieces, 1 cola, small chicken breast pieces, and a salad of tomatoes and lettuce...! You can see from the picture that it was £17.50. It's not a restaurant, it's fast food. I don't recommend it. I won't go there again.

We have ordered several times from here and I loved it a lot- especially being vegan… but tonight we got our wrap and it had a hair in the packaging wrapped with the wrap. I rang to send a picture immediately and they didn’t seem bothered at all or wouldnt offer a refund for the wrap which had the hair but asked me to go in on Monday! It is concerning how they were not bothered at all about this…

Grab lunch from here regularly and have nothing but positive experiences. Delicious food, excellent service, beautifully maintained store with impeccable hygiene standards. A small/limited menu which means they have really become masters of their food. Salads are always super fresh and each ingredient portioned so it balances perfectly. The Chicken and the Haloumi burgers are mouth watering. Amazing selection of small desserts ( the baklava is an absolute 10/10!!) the chips portion is incredibly generous, gloriously crispy outside with a superb fluffy inside. Drinks selection ranging from smoothies to canned sparkling elderflower adds a nice fresh beverage. Thank you falafel xpress for your constant high quality lunches! Please never close ❤️

Cute place for lunch. We had really friendly and efficient service. Ordered a falafel salad which was very filling (also, the only gluten free option on the menu, but with varying protein options). Also ordered a wrap and sweet potato fries which were delicious! Crispy & perfectly done. Also had a yummy fresh juice! There's limited space to eat inside.

We waited nearly 3 hours to receive our order! We have ordered from Cafe at the End of the Universe countless times and never once been disappointed or let down by their food or service, until last night when we waited close to 3 hours to receive our food. I understand how busy a Friday night would be (ordered at 7.15pm) and so we expected the wait time to be 1/1.5hour. However, to have to contact them twice to ask where our food was extremely disappointing. The first time we rang (8.30pm) we had to wait whilst they tried to locate our order number which didn’t fill us with confidence and we were told our food was next and will be delivered soon. The second time we rang (9.45pm) we were told there was a delay in the kitchen. When we received our food it wasn’t as if it was piping hot, it was warm and to be honest one of the burgers looked like it had been thrown together quickly (half of it in the box rather than on the burger bun). This shockingly poor experience has left us severely disheartened & ultimately just disappointed in this business which we had loved before this happened. We should not have to wait nearly 3 hours to receive our order! I can’t say we are in a rush to eat from here again.

The staff here today were excellent and the food was served to our table very soon after ordering. My son tried Corndog and Fries and the portion size of the fries was excellent. The fries in particular were delicious (dads perogative to nick sons chips of course!). In fact, the nicest Fries ever! We're sure to return and recommend a visit!

Basing this review purely on tonight's meal. Normally the food we order is 10/10 as is the delivery time and everything else. Tonight we were disappointed when we received a very burnt "little easy" chicken burger. Its such a shame because we always recommend this place! Won't necessarily put us off ordering again. Found this place while searching for a good burger in Warrington. There aren't that many options! This place was great. At the indoor market in town and you can sit at any table, scan the QR code and order from your phone and they bring out the food to your table. Very quick and easy to order. I got the 'on your knees Texas Pete' burger which had the following in: Double beef patty, smoked bacon, American cheese, fried onions, shredded beef brisket, chili jam, and pepper mayo on a pretzel bun. It was a very impressive burger. Thin patties, perfectly cooked with lovely tasting crispy edges. Good amount of cheese and bacon and the brisket on top was really tasty. The pretzel bun was really fresh and soft and the whole thing was a pleasure to eat. Highly recommend the burgers here and I hope to be back when I'm next in Warrington on business.

Incredible burgers! I've had a few of the different offering from here over a few years and never been disappointed. The 'Tony Montana' though has topped the lot. Fantastic flavours from the sauces and a good amount of chorizo. The patties they use are delicious! The fries didn't add much to the burger really but were a nice gimmick and made the stack more impressive as well as messier. I also had the BBQ wings. An huge portion with a good covering of sauce. They were beautifully crisp but a little overcooked so the chicken was quite dry. One of the best places around for a burger and plenty of mouthwatering options. Previous visits: Delicious 'Chick Norris' breakfast dish and nice tater tots. Top place with a great menu. Fantastic burgers but don't miss out on the boneless wings! Massive portion and they're bangin!

I put three for atmosphere as I actually had the food delivered so just went in the middle as I can't put good or bad. I don't know if it was just me or if the lady that delivered it was a bit rude. And dismissive. I almost felt awkward. I thought the food was really plain (Hot dog and some sort of loaded fries). I couldn't eat it all. There wasn't much flavour. I thought I'd try it because someone mentioned it and I really liked the name of it and it has good reviews. Unfortunately I don't think I'd go again... personally. Maybe it's just me. It was so overly priced for what it was too. All round, not a good experience.

The fillings were all delicious and nice to know they had all been made from scratch by the owner. One person had numerous allergies but the owner offered many choices that he could prepare, well impressed! I would not hesitate in recommending this establishment!

I recently visited the Panini Box and had a lovely Caesar salad that exceeded my expectations! The crisp romaine was perfectly complemented by a creamy dressing, crunchy croutons, and just the right amount of Parmesan. It was a refreshing meal that made my day. My husband often goes there for lunch and always enjoys the variety of delicious paninis and sandwiches they offer. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly, making every visit pleasant. If you’re looking for a great place to grab a quick bite or enjoy a leisurely meal, I highly recommend Panini Press!

Been in a few times now, first was for the Christmas special which was fantastic! Now quite partial to the new Mediterranean special with feta mozarella avocado sun dry tomatoes and honey! Quite the mix but all works well together, dare I say it so soon but really looking forward to another Christmas special!

Absolutely wonderful assortment of jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings. Would not hesitate to recommend and I and my friends will be using again! The owner was polite, courteous and friendly. I did peruse the rest of the menu which exceeded my expectations for a smaller outlet!

The best jacket potato’s I have EVER had and the fillings we ordered (some vegetarian and some meat) were all absolutely delicious.. and the icing on the cake was the service with a smile! would definitely recommend and 100% will be ordering again! Thank you!!

Wandered in from the rain and had a delightful cajun chicken panini and a strawberry and banana smoothie. The staff member was friendly, the food was good value and tasty, and there was plenty of the smoothie to drink for the price. Would and likely will eat here again.

Fresh fish cod or haddock cooked to order, with batter to your liking. No hanging around drying out in warmers for your fish and the chips are cooked perfectly. Mushy peas are delicious too. The staff are always polite and friendly, you can also eat in if you like. A preferred chippy of ours in Macclesfield. Handy central location with parking nearby. *Update.....just had a Greek Salad as my husband was having fish and chips and I wanted something else... Absolutely delicious bursting with feta, olives, cucumber, tomato, red onion and salad leaves. Great value too.

I ordered 2x battered sausages, chips, cheese and gravy and what I had received was sensational! Highly recommend to anyone who wants a chippy tea/dinner you most definitely will not be disappointed!

A traditional fish and chips done the proper way is hard to find these days. We stopped off at Pete’s Chippy because I didn’t want to to cook mid week, and being in hospitality myself I appreciate a service with a smile. You could see the genuine passion for the trade and you can taste it in the food too. The fish was golden and the chips were fluffy. Fish and chips done the right way.

Just passing through Macclesfield and saw the good reviews for this chippy. We stayed to eat in - and completely agree with the reviews. Food excellent and served quickly; friendly and helpful staff; spotlessly clean. So glad we stopped. Highly recommend.

Fantastic traditional style Chippy. Everything is cooked fresh to order with a smile and compassion for the authentic Fish & Chips experience. No nasty bleaching of the potatoes or anything like that. Prices are very reasonable in the current market where we are all overpaying for energy, produce, rates, etc. Highly recommend!

First time eating here and last. Seen the post about them wanting more custom so travelled past my usual chip shop to come here. However was cash only wanted x2 cod and chips and kids meal but as I couldn't pay on card I only had £10 cash so I had to change my order in which the scallop was poor. Chips average and gravy was below average. Cheese pie was not fresh. Maybe if you would like more custom let people pay by card no one wants to have to stop at cash machines to get cash. It's 2025 no one wants to take detours and have to park up for a cash machine. Overall 6/10

Went with my niece's at 3:30pm, straight after school. Chips were Lukewarm and clearly been re-fried cple of times. Only ate the sausage and few chips, threw the rest. Not even the seagulls would eat them! The staff shouting and balling at some teenagers outside the shop(high school uniform), one of the staff snatched (aggressively) the small speaker out of the young lads hands and tried to put it over the counter. Continued to shout at the young lad, on the customer side of the counter right next to my young niece's . The staff acted like a bunch of hyenas, shouting and laughing about the situation. Use to be a nice town chippy, will not be going back anytime soon. Only gave one star because it wouldn't let me leave zero!

Awful - Simply don't waste your money. Missing the majority of the order, when calling they advised they can't help and would have to sort it out ourselves through Uber. Can see the items list had most of the order un-ticked meaning they hadn't accounted for the items to be included. The parts that were received weren't worth eating. Chips were mushy, the mushy peas weren't...

The takeaway food today was awful. The quality's gone right down. The chips were dry and awful...tasted old. The pie was burnt and half hollow. The crust was inedibleThe burger was tasteless. We used to like it here but gone right down in quality. Won't be coming back.

We had this delivered to us, the chips came hot and not soggy at all, they were still nice and crispy, the sausages were really nice, but the star of the show was their spicy curry. It was out of this world.

Absoloutly rank. Couldn't eat it it was vile.

I got the monster cod and chips today but was disappointed with the size of the fish and the chips just warmed up still think the over square still the best

Service is awful waited for 30 mins and didn’t get served so we left.Hopeless do not eat here
