The Gurnard's Head is a stylish roadside pub located in the wilds of West Penwith, between St Ives and Lands End. This bright yellow beacon welcomes muddy boots and four-legged friends, offering colorful rooms, dining with a log fireplace, and artwork. The location provides access to dramatic walking terrain in Cornwall, making it ideal for a restorative break in a wild coastal setting.
We had the lunch for less over 3 courses and it was delicious (great and well considered vegan options for each course too). The starters in particular were outstanding. A bit of a luxurious stop on our SW coastal path walk, but so worth it. They kept our heavy packs safe at the bar and refilled our water bottles with ice water when we left too

Absolutely incredible food. We had heard wonderful things but it highly exceeded our expectations. We had the steak and the pork for mains and they were absolutely gorgeous, such a gem of an establishment, will be recommending to anyone in the vicinity!
Madeleine F — Google review
Very friendly and welcoming staff. We hadn't booked and they were able to squeeze us in. I think if there were more than 2 of us it would have been tricky. So if you can, try and book for food in advance. While seated in the snug we spotted the board games and played connect 4. The food tasted great. Would go back.

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay here - first time guests! We enjoyed a very relaxing experience. The annexe room was comfortable - good bed, well furnished with a roomy bathroom and it and the shower room and loo were clean , as was the bedroom and very well presented. The toiletries provided were gorgeous. The log burner was much appreciated. The menus excellent and last but not least, the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Easy parking. Hope to return.
Penelope W — Google review
So welcoming from the moment we stepped over the threshold. We were given a fabulous table by the window with amazing views. The front of house service was excellent and the dishes imaginative and beautifully seasoned. My belly pork was delicious. Surprising mid course entertainment as a herd of Fresian cows passed out window making their way back to the adjacent farm. Lovely experience!

Great lunch - excellent food at a great price. Toilets & restaurant really well presented, didn't see bedrooms, but sure they are the same. Fabulous location with bar, restaurant & garden.
Carolyn B — Google review
We came for lunch when it was super busy, but the staff were so friendly (and miraculously unclustered) - we were seated and served quickly. It’s super dog-friendly with a cosy atmosphere. The fishcake was tasty, just the right size, and came with a really fresh salad. We’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful place, delicious food, friendly service. The decor is lovely and everything is maintained well. Our room and bathroom were a little small but we really enjoyed our stay!

Cafe
Restaurant
The Hidden Hut is a charming beach cafe located along the South West Coast Path near Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula, overlooking Porthcurnick Beach. This rustic wooden shed offers simple yet delicious lunches and cakes from their outdoor beach kitchen. The menu features fresh seasonal dishes such as soups, chowders, dahls, beachy salads, and grilled seafood.
First visit to the Hidden Hut today and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had lunch which was delicious. I had the spiced pork dish and the other three with me chose the crab tacos which they said were amazing. It's in a lovely position overlooking the beach and on a day like today, sunny but not too hot it was heaven. The dog with us had a great time with us throwing sticks for her to retrieve. I would very much recommend this cafe and beach to locals and visitors alike.
Les P — Google review
A charming little seaside café, perfect for a quick grab-and-go treat. The food and drinks were pleasant, but the real highlight is the breathtaking ocean view right next to the café. There are a few small tables, creating a cozy, laid-back vibe, though seating is quite limited. It's an ideal spot if you plan to spend a lazy day by the sea, soaking up the breeze and perhaps enjoying a swim. However, if you're visiting with a tight schedule, especially on an Asian-style quick tour, it might not be the most convenient choice as the road can be tricky and parking is limited. Still, for those looking to unwind and embrace the beauty of the coast, it’s absolutely worth a visit!
Phatt H — Google review
This is now one of my favourite spots in Cornwall. The food was absolutely amazing. The Cornish steak pasty I had was filling and delicious, and the hazelnut hot chocolate was exactly what I needed that morning— it warmed me up in the seaside breeze and gave me the perfect boost of sweetness. The blueberry and banana muffin was moist and so tasty. I only wish I’d had the chance to try more from their menu! The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was just right, with families enjoying their holidays. You also get to enjoy a stunning beach view. It was quite windy when we visited, so I’d recommend bringing an extra layer. Overall, I loved this place and would definitely come back when I’m in the area!
Janet C — Google review
Super tasty food. Small menu but it's means it's super fresh and you don't need to wait long to be served. We loved the soup with some flat breads from the pizza oven. Very quick service and such a fantastic location. It's not the cheapest but the quality of the food is great. Lovely walks along the coast and the beach is lovely.
Bruce R — Google review
Amazing little place set back from the beach. Note, did not sample the main menu just a slice of cake. An independent venue that serves up good looking food from what we saw. Prices looked very reasonable too. Would certainly return to try the food. Staff were very friendly and the setting was amazing
Andrew L — Google review
This place is a real treat. Only a few hot dishes on the menu which shows the quality of the place. Food is being cooked all the time, so after ordering you are looking at a couple of minutes wait. Excellent service and friendly people. My son had the pulled pork brioche and it was a flavour sensation.
Sarah W — Google review
Worth the long queue for food - had a delicious Cornish pasty. The soup and daal looked really tasty too. Get there early as the menu did have sold items by the time we arrived (about an hour until closing). Definitely worth travelling for and a highlight of our trip.

In a word "sensational". Great staff , excellent coffee, the best Portuguese custard tarts and steak pasties that I have ever tasted. We went there almost every day of our holiday in Portscatho. Congratulations to Simon and his team.

Prawn on the Lawn is a unique fine dining spot located above Carbis Bay beach, offering ingenious plates made with ingredients sourced from local growers, farmers, and fishermen in Cornwall. The glass-walled dining room adorned with dried flowers provides a picturesque setting for enjoying dishes like hogget with Jersey Royals and Cornish brill with mussels. The restaurant's commitment to zero food waste is evident in its use of every part of animals and vegetables.
Well worth a visit!! We selected 5/6 dishes. The highlight was the Mackerel, closely followed by the Tuna. Although to be fair we didn’t have a bad dish out of all the ones we tried. Will definitely be back and also going to visit the one in Islington. Nice hand-wash in the toilet too.

One of the best seafood dinners I’ve had! And that’s after years in Southeast Alaska. The small plates were perfect for sharing amongst us three: The sole, mackerel, and monkfish were PERFECT. The chefs really understood the textural and flavor balances of the Asian, Italian and local ingredients. The staff were great: attentive and gracious. Well done!
Jeremy N — Google review
We had the most amazing food at POTL. Made completely by the wonderful team who were complete professionals and made the atmosphere wonderful. We were on our honeymoon and the team went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time. The food was very special, some of the best fish we've ever had. A big thank you!
Elizabeth B — Google review
Came here for a late lunch as a change from Stein and there were a lot of people here mid afternoon. It’s more of a tapas like place. There was a decent choice of quite expensive dishes. We chose one of the cheapest white wines which was still £37 a bottle then 3 dishes plus some broccoli. It took quite a bit of time for any food to appear and then came out at various times, some much longer than others. The quality and taste of the food was excellent, but there wasn’t much of it. The service was good and it had a nice ambience and feel to the place. Overall good but also expensive at >£90 for two for 4 small dishes and wine.
Mark D — Google review
Every time we visit Cornwall, we make sure to book a table at this restaurant – it’s an absolute must for us. All the staff, including Rob, are exceptionally well trained and just naturally deliver fantastic customer service every single time. I honestly can’t think of anything that would make the experience better – it’s consistently excellent. The lemon sole last night was absolutely fantastic, and finishing off with four oysters for dessert was perfect. Thanks again, guys – keep up the great work, and we’ll see you soon!

Faultless experience yesterday. Very busy, but great atmosphere and excellent staff. Really nice to see many of the staff have been there for years. It’s dog friendly and the owners all keep their dogs out of the way and quiet. Best place in Padstow for sure.

A restaurant where a lot of hard work and care has clearly gone into every dish. We were able to walk in and have an amazing meal, you can tell they staff/owners want the business but they are relaxed and confident in what they are doing so you feel really welcome.

Porthminster Beach Cafe is not your average beach-side cafe; it's a serious restaurant with a laid-back beach house vibe. The menu, curated by Australian chef Michael Smith, features Mediterranean flavors and fresh seafood, along with posh fish and chips. The restaurant offers friendly service, fresh decor, and stunning views over Porthminster Beach.
Great lunch! It ain't cheap but lunch at the Porthminater was the food highlight of our trip to St Ives. Our dog Herbie was offered a bowl of water, very important to us as dog owners, and the service continued to impress. Polite and prompt, it is not surprise that you can find the Pothminster in the Michelin guide, the service was excellent throughout our lunch. The food was excellent, my pork cheek and my wife's monk fish curry are worthy of particular mention, and was complemented by stunning views across Porthminster beach. I can highly recommend, if you have the funds!
Terence A — Google review
Food is excellent, sea bass was freshly cooked and pork rib grilled to an excellent state. The beach view from balcony was fantastic and we took quite a lot photos. The service is first class. Just the price was a little bit pricy. Better to leave some time for parking the car at station car park if you come over by car.

Beautiful restaurant with a view! Very lucky to hav a sea view seat, seafood is fresh and taste great! Love the crabmeat salad, taste refreshing, I enjoy the mussels a lot, perfectly cooked and the white wine sauce is on spot! Our waiter is very nice to make sure we have been looking after! Thank you !

Every dish at Porthminster Beach Cafe (Restaurant) was superb. Squid, pork cheek, lobster and cod, fresh and faultlessly cooked and presented with wonderful friendly professional service (thankyou Shaun, you were wonderful). Brilliant restaurant with amazing views. Highly recommended. Thankyou.

Fantastic evening meal with family for a special occasion Been before so know how good it is, the food is superb, good fresh fish Service was really attentive and relaxed, and even though we had 2 young children with us there was no rush to get us out

Fabulous food! Catch of the day is super fresh, also LOVE the squid and seafood curry. Service is also nice, view is brilliant.
Violetta X — Google review
We booked a table for dinner at Porthminster Beach Café and were seated by the wall. I asked if we could move to an empty window table, but was told it had been booked and the guests would be arriving shortly. However, by the time we left, the table was still empty. It felt like they could have let us sit there with the understanding that we’d need to vacate by a certain time. The food was fine, but nothing particularly special. Overall, a bit disappointing given the reputation, price and location.
Fair Y — Google review
Porthminster Beach Café in St Ives delivers a superb dining experience in a stunning beachfront setting. A 10/10 experience, without hesitation. We visited for my wife’s birthday and were impressed by the warm, attentive service, complete with a birthday card on the table and a candle in her dessert. The highlight was the catch of the day. Red Gurnard, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. It was, without question, the best piece of fish I’ve ever had so far. While prices are premium, the quality of the food, thoughtful service, and breathtaking views make it well worth it.

Just the best evening out every time. Haven’t been for a while as we’ve been just so busy but we’ve both said we need to book in again soon. Crab and lobster 🦞 specials were amazing. Always such friendly, welcoming staff. Fabulous food and the view is just out of this world. We absolutely love it here. Can’t fault it. Thank you as always for having us. Highly recommended to book in advance so as not to miss out ! 👌👍🙏

A small but very cozy restaurant on the shore of an amazing beach. We came unexpectedly and did not book a table (although we should have). We asked to be placed on the street overlooking the beach, a table was prepared for us, blankets were given and our order was taken. As soon as the food was ready and served to the table, it started to rain. We were very lucky that at that moment a table inside became available, and we were quickly moved, for which I sincerely thank you. The food was, very beautifully presented, and also incredibly tasty. The service and taste of the food are simply unforgettable, we were very impressed, and as happy as possible that we came.
Stanislav — Google review
Had lunch with family at this place. Food was average at the best, oily fish and chips with very thin batter. Chips were cold, no tartare sauce served with fish n chips??? Expensive is the word, a total tourist trap. You can better quality and quantity in London for 12 quid....and that's London. Heee we paid 22 for cod and chips. 3 pieces of prawns in a portion, sauces(mayonnaise) charged as extra. Noodles over cooked in Pad thai, it was a mash of flat noodles.... Steer away from this place.
Jeet S — Google review
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The King Prawn and Crab linguine was out of this world. All enjoyed their food, the staff were friendly and dog friendly during the lunch session. Definitely recommend if you love your seafood.
Kelly H — Google review
Had our anniversary dinner here and the staff looked after us. All food was incredible, the fish was wonderful, the homemade focaccia garlic bread was amazing too, 100% recommend and would suggest booking too as we visited on a midweek evening off season and it was still busy! Well worth a visit and if you get a nice evening the sunset is amazing!
Emma M — Google review
We had read great reviews about this place and we were also suggested by some locals to go. Well, definitely a great place to eat fish in Newquay. There are not many tables, so a reservation is recommended. Nice view over Fistral beach, especially if you seat outside.

Blas Burgerworks is a cozy eatery located in St Ives, Cornwall, known for whipping up delicious beef, chicken, or bean burgers served with chips. Despite the seemingly expensive prices, visitors are pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the burgers. The small eco-friendly restaurant boasts a professional grill and offers a variety of burger options including the Kiwi Burger with beetroot, cheese, pineapple, egg, salad, and mayo.
Well, if we could give 10 stars we would! The best burger, best chips, best onions rings and the best service! Incredible, we were speechless, such good food! Would highly recommend trying out this hidden gem.
IT — Google review
I enjoyed my first burger (peppercorn sauce & blue cheese special) so much that I had to go back on my final evening in St Ives to have the chorizo and feta! The deserts were amazing too - best cookie dough and bannna split. Very cool place!
Scarlett T — Google review
we were lucky to find one of the few tables at dinner time. one of the best burgers i’ve had, juicy and with a tasty bun. i also liked the chips and special salt flakes. they have kids options and the staff was helpful in choosing from the menu. i had the burger with chili aioli and liked!!!
Ezgi M — Google review
Amazing burgers, one of the best ones I had and very creative flavours. Also, their onion rings are gigantic and crispy! Lots of gluten free and vegan options, we had to go back twice in our short trip to St Ives, too good!
Janis D — Google review
Don't make the mistake of thinking that the food Blas offers is "just" a burger. They are about as far away from a burger-joint burger as is possible to get; The food here is in a class of it's own. I think it's good value given the quality of the food - not cheap but worth every penny. The best burger I've ever had.
Disgruntled D — Google review
AMAZING. That sums it up really, no complaints at all about this banging burger joint. Went here two weeks in a row on our holiday to St Ives, my partner had the special with beef both times and said they were some of the best burgers he's had. I was impressed that all of their burgers could be made vegetarian and vegan. The beef / bean / chicken way of doing things is great, makes for a less stressful ordering experience. It's also nice to be able to eat the same things as everyone else as a vegetarian, instead of sitting there with your sad salad or the dreaded falafel wrap when your mates dig into their gourmet burgers. Also that cookie dough dessert you're not sure you should get? Get it. You won't regret it. Love their commitment to being green as well, karma drinks are a personal fave anyway and always happy to see them on a menu. The GuacaNOle was awesome and I'll be experimenting with making something like that myself! Highly recommend, don't miss out on this gem when you visit St Ives.
Jessica P — Google review
The burgers were quite good, but a little overpriced for what they are. Even the most basic option is nearly £20, with cheese (admittedly very tasty) an extra £2, and only a small portion of chips on the side. Similarly, the signature GuacaNOle was a fun idea, but nothing too distinctive in flavor, and the tortillas were a bit ordinary and far too few for the price.
Benedikt — Google review
Ambience and service is great but their burgers are way overpriced for what they serve. And they also don’t have beers on tap :(

Pastry shop
Nestled in the charming town of Looe, Sarah's Pasty Shop is a beloved family-run bakery that has been delighting locals and visitors alike for nearly three decades. This quaint establishment, housed in a picturesque fishing cottage, fills the air with the irresistible scent of freshly baked pasties made from homemade pastry and high-quality local ingredients.
A must visit!!!! We met the lovely Lucy whilst sorting her car out and she told us all about her family run pasty shop in Looe. We just had to try them. Lucy very kindly delivered us some pasties and we were blown away. The pasties were so tasty! The pastry was perfect and the filling was great. They were a generous size too! Lucy and all the staff are so warm and welcoming and very friendly. Such a great, local, family business. We were also treated to some cakes from Sarah’s cake shop which is also run by the family. Again incredible!! We will definitely be heading down to Looe to get our Sarah’s fix again very soon! Could not recommend more!!

Yummy, There's a que here for a reason! It's well worth the wait and queuing for. They are absolutely massive and well worth the prices asked for each one, and all are incredibly tasty. I couldn't get a photo in fear that the seagulls would attack me and steal my pastie. Apparently it's the best pasty in Looe, I possibly couldn't say as haven't tasted them all but hey it's very very good. Small shop , low beams , very clean , drinks available, other products to eat too.
Daniel L — Google review
What can I say, just great tasty pasties with loads of filling. The bacon, leek and cheese is a firm favourite and is a must try for anyone. The traditional is packed full with filling and is so heavy, it certainly sets you up for the day. We always visit when we are down in Looe with our Jack Russell who is warmly welcomed. One of the best pasties in Cornwall by far.
Paul L — Google review
Tried 3 vegan pasties here – Thai Spicy, Chickpea, and Vegetable – and loved all three! The flavors were spot on, the fillings generous, and the jumbo size makes it perfect for a hearty meal. The crust is different from other pasties I’ve had – flakier and full of character, which adds to the overall taste. Definitely a must-visit for vegan pasty lovers! One thing to note: the opening hours listed on Google Maps weren’t accurate during our visit. I’m uploading a photo to help others with the correct timing. Highly recommend this place – worth the stop!
Virendra B — Google review
Recommended by a local shopkeeper, we stopped by for lunchtime pasties. Three of us opted for the cheese and onion flavoured ones whilst my husband went for the Thai Butternut squash one. Decent sized and none of us could finish ours, so the leftovers were recycled into another meal. We also bought an apple pasty that was equally as delicious as the savoury ones.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Absolutely amazing Cornish pasties. We had 4 different ones, including the gluten free pasty (ordered the day before). All were excellent, both in size and taste. Will definitely be returning when we are near Looe!
Michael W — Google review
Have had Sarah’s a few times over the years and hate to say it but this was the worst pasty I’ve ever had. Half way in and have come across the smallest bit of meat. They use to be juicy, meaty and full of flavour this just tastes like potato there is no seasoning wat so ever it’s so bland. And to top it off the lady behind the counter serving was rude and had no customer services skills acting like she didn’t want to be there. Will not be retuning as it’s a 2hr 30min round trip and was highly disappointed. It’s a shame because these pasty’s have always been top tier and delicious.
James — Google review
Where is the meat? Really disappointing after the reviews, we bought the lamb and mint and traditional and both where lacking in meat, add to that they where both dry and lacked seasoning. Lady serving seemed a bit fed up as well slapping the pasties on the counter when she was serving people.

Despite its intimate size and temporary closure due to lockdown, it has garnered rave reviews on TripAdvisor, ranking as the number one breakfast spot in Looe. The cafe offers a warm and welcoming ambiance with friendly owners who make visitors feel right at home.
An absolutely fantastic place to eat - the daisy shaped scones are large, fluffy, and delicious and the sandwiches are proper 'doorsteps'. Ever so slightly off of the High Street but all the better for that and well worth the 30 second walk up the hill!

My partner and I visited on Saturday - he highly recommends the bacon sandwich with stilton, and I had the best scone of my life! Sam and Geoff are genuinely lovely and I think this really creates a warm and chilled atmosphere. A lovely little cafe which truly stood out as one of the best cafe experiences I have ever had. Would 100% recommend :))))

Such a fantastic cafe, the warmness and friendliness of the owner was exceptional. 100% the best Cornish cream tea I've had, I can't recommend this place enough, just check the opening times as we almost missed out and arrived just before closing time.

The best local cafe with best satisfaction service by a very friendly lady. Hidden in a small street. Awesome service. Food so delicious and have real taste. Atmosphere is very calm with great vibes. All I really enjoy but Scones were top notch. Thanks for such nice hospitality

Not leaving reviews very often but the lady was exceptionally nice and we've really enjoyed english breakfast. Very good quality and value for money. Great cosy place. It's a shame I live far away as I would be visiting this place regularly.

Is a small cafe with 5 tables only. We were lucky to be number 3 to entry at 9am. Order bacon and egg sandwiches and sausage and egg sandwiches. Baby had child breakfast. Bread was thick slice, egg was runny spot on, sausage was locally sourced, chocolate milkshake was lovely. It was good overall. Please prepare cash as sometime the machine didn't work out. Sam was super friendly.

We ate at Daisy’s Cafe today and absolutely LOVED IT! The food was delicious -we had the vegetarian breakfast and a scone!! The atmosphere was impeccable and the staff had some of the friendliness and most accommodating hospitality we’ve come across in ages -we’d come back just to see and speak to the lovely lady who served us! :)) Would definitely recommend (we recommend the scones too) xx 🫶🏼☺️🤎

The Old Coastguard is a sophisticated hotel located in the charming fishing village of Mousehole, known for its artistic community and unique traditions. The hotel offers 14 attractive sea-facing bedrooms with comfortable amenities and stunning views. Guests can enjoy locally sourced dishes at the open-plan bar and dining room, showcasing ingredients from the area. The location is ideal for exploring the surrounding areas, including woodland walks to Lamorna and adventures to Newlyn and Penzance.
What a fabulous find! We were fortunate enough to get a last minute table for two as the restaurant was very busy. From the moment we walked in everyone was so friendly and attentive. Big shout out to Ellie-Mae who made our evening just perfect with her superb customer service and knowledge of the produce on offer. The menu was refreshingly different and showcased local produce. Our food was excellent and beautifully presented. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

I am reviewing the restaurant. The food and wine I ordered was delicious and served promptly. The waitstaff however seemed unprofessional and indifferent. They took orders and then ignored you as someone else delivered the food. Tip is included in the price so there is little incentive to do anything. My server never even came back to ask if I wanted dessert. I did, but i got so tired of waiting (15-20 minutes after my plate was cleared) that I just got up and paid my bill at the bar and left. It’s too bad. The food was really lovely. But the poor service ruined my experience.

What a great pub in a stunning location! The outdoor space is the highlight, being able to relax and look out to the calming sea whilst enjoying one of the many drinks on offer. Equally the inside area was cosy and welcoming for when the night draws in. We didn't eat on this occasion but the food looked tasty and would definitely return to try the offering.
Katie — Google review
Ate here one evening during our stay in Sennen, so can't say anything about the rooms, but everything else about it was lovely. The interior is picturesque and stands out from the normal seaside pub aesthetic common in Cornwall. The view out to the sea is amazing, especially from the well-maintained decking. And of course the food was wonderful - nothing overly fancy and not a huge menu but what they do is done very well.
Ciaran G — Google review
Visited the restaurant (we weren't staying at the hotel so can't comment on that aspect) for our evening meal, and it was very enjoyable. Very pretty-looking interior with a lovely view out over the sea if seated outside. Food was delicious - I had the chicken, which was very tender and juicy, and my husband had the battered haddock, which he enjoyed. The only downside is that the menu is quite small but The Old Coastguard is definitely worth a visit and we would eat there again.
A G — Google review
Good spot! We stopped here for lunch, the team at the restaurant were super accommodating although they were very stretched - we got food before drinks and it took a while to order. The food was good overall - the pate had a bit too much wine for my personal taste, the crab pasta is actually fantastic but ruined by the unpeeled confit tomatoes… if you’re going to confit a tomato, especially for longer than usual, please peel it.
Alexandra V — Google review
Eavan helped us and arranged everything on our first day to the hotel. She was perfect! Not only she did well, the whole hotel especially the staff were perfect! I was a head hunter in hospitality industry before retirement. If I came here before I retired, I certainly could have a list of targets now! They deserved an increase in salary. I just wonder how the management can train staff like them. The wonderful team of this hotel is not serving but making you feel like home!

Delightful restaurant serving classic British food with a modern flair. Hearty sunday lunches, tasty vegetarian dishes, traditional ales. Service very friendly if a little too busy when we visited. Car park and public car park nearby which is a definite bonus in Mousehole.

Situated in Wadebridge, Nice Baps appears to be an ordinary roadside cafe with a slightly risqué name. However, this budget-friendly eatery is renowned as one of Cornwall's top dining establishments. Its reputation is attributed partly to the delectable and high-quality baps it offers – these are freshly baked rolls filled with a variety of savory delights such as bacon or even a full English breakfast.
Absolutely the best breakfast I have had in a long time. The staff are so friendly and your not kept waiting around. .oh and great value for money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 6☆
Bob S — Google review
Saw this place on Rate my takeaways channel on YouTube, who gave Nice Baps a pretty good review and so decided to visit myself. Was not disappointed. The menu is quite varied for a small roadside burger shack. Staff friendly when ordering. Prices seemed very reasonable. Decided to have the Atlantic burger, which took around 10 mins to arrive. Waited at the outside seating. When the burger arrived, it looked brilliant. Two thick perfectly cooked, juicy yet charred patties, which were side by side, not stacked, 2 slices of thick cut perfectly cooked bacon, loads of cheddar cheese, and the obligatory salad, all in a bap with ketchup and mayo. This burger was excellent. So tasty. We will definitely be returning to give their local produce cooked breakfast a go next time. Also, the hot dog looks amazing, so that's on the list too. They really do have Nice Baps!

We came across this delightful little find and i must say what a real nice take away sandwich bar it is. The owner was extremely hospitable, his knowledge was second to none in places to visit, and as for the Nice Baps, well worth every penny, myself and my husband had the Atlantic Bap with a twist and my daughter had the foot long sausage bap. Everything was cooked fresh and as you waited the owner spoke to you giving you advice on where to go on a day trip. I would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you Nice Baps ☺️

Small cafe with good range of fresh food with friendly helpful staff who are allergy aware. Lots of dairy free options and most things are gluten free or can be made gluten free in the separate gf kitchen. The gf waffles, pasties and cakes are all a treat. You can eat in or have take out.

Popped in for breakfast during our stay in Newquay. I chose this place because of the menu options. When I'm in England, I always order 4 fried eggs, 2 black puddings, and 2 sausages for breakfast every day. The breakfast did not disappoint. The staff were great and chatted us up about our trip. The price was under 14 pounds. I highly recommend eating here. All of the bakery items looked outstanding. I'll be back when I am in the area again.

While browsing for places to eat in Cornwall I came across cafe could drawn in by its Vegan afternoon tea And a must have in Cornwall of course so me and my parents went for breakfast on a Sunday morning after strolling to Fistral beach worked up an appetite to let the dog run off some steam before eating as they’re dog friendly so he could come too Inside is small and quickly with a welcoming cafe vibe decorated in clouds which is very fitting My parents got a small breakfast with orange juice which they enjoyed , good quality ingredients and customise to what you like and I had a Warm fresh large scone with Jam and coconut cream ( the debate which goes first ?) Paired with Cornish tea and soya milk They Cater for allergens and different dietary ( if it wasn’t so early in the morning I probably would of got a waffle too ) Just what you need , quick , easy and tasty The staff were friendly and efficient me and my mum even got bracelets that were handmade One thing to note which was a shock there is No toilet so need to find in the area

Caffè Rojano by Paul Ainsworth is a high-end restaurant in Padstow, known for its stylish ambiance and focus on locally sourced ingredients, particularly Cornish seafood. The restaurant offers a mix of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, with a menu featuring stone-baked sourdough pizzas, delectable pasta dishes, and other bistro-style options.
An excellent superb lovely dine experience with friends. The food is amazing, can’t compare neither can’t express in words, we ordered varieties. The staffs are very friendly too with a “smile” and made us really feel homey and happy, truly dedicated hardworking staffs. Customer service is very satisfactory. The coffee they offer is one in a million, the strength and aroma — on top of recommendation if you’re coffee lover. The atmosphere is full of vibes, could stay for hours. This cafe restaurant is a top food place recommendation! 🙂 Only notice that tables are too close with other tables, limited space. Nevertheless, it does not affect the great service and great food!

A great restaurant with beautiful flavours. We stopped for lunch on a visit to the town, it was not too busy and is dog friendly. They have a few areas, down stairs, upstairs that also had a bar and restrooms and they have a little glass room area. We had a small dog and there were also other dogs, we were able to sit in the glass room which gave us a beautiful view of the streets. We had 2 pizzas between 4 people and they were absolutely amazing, by far the best I have had and the flavours in these pizzas were incredible! I would definitely recommend for dinner or lunch and would 100% go back again. The staff were very friendly and made the experience really amazing. They loved dogs which made it such a dog friendly restaurant. As you walk in, you can also see the pasta being hand made! If you like, you can also see Paul Ainsworth’s cookbook.

What a treat. We managed to get a table for lunch by some careful juggling by the lovely front of house chap. The food was devine - I scooped out every bit of my truffle mayonnaise I had with the arancini as it was too good to leave. However everyone one of our dishes were just superb and the three of us were sharing each other’s picks just to get a taste of the lovely dishes. No room for pud so we’ll shave that treat for next time. I also had one of the best americanos I’ve ever had. Prices were very reasonable and at a level that sits just below treat level so more frequent trips are very much on the cards. However, there some little things that also set this place above others. Tables that could seat four were set for two so you didn’t feel like you were taking up seats from others. Service was discreet but very friendly. The head of house asking how our starters were after they had been cleaned away but he knew who had what. Another touch was the baby changing table in the gents - still a rarity these days. The place also wasn’t cramped. There was obviously a greater concern over patron’s experiences rather than cramming tables in to make more money. Well done Mr Ainsworth, many could learn from you. We’ll be back.

Absolutely fantastic food service and ambience what more can you ask for. Been 3 times always good need to book.. The ribs of the scale, Arancini delicious and squid perfection, wine superb will be back. We took our dog so your seated in the front please please fit ceiling blinds as when sunny and hot it does get very hot and sunny. This is I know not a problem for people without dogs but we would off had desserts coffees and probably another bottle of wine.. 10-10 will return

We pre-booked for a Thursday evening meal and were seated right away. Being a birthday meal, the restaurant also provided a handwritten card which was a very nice touch. Very attentive service and delicious food across all 3 courses. The restaurant has a premium feel whilst still feeling like a place that you can feel comfortable and relaxed in. A fantastic spot in Padstow and we'll definitely be popping in again next time we're down. Highly recommend the cabbage side dish, ox cheek ragu and the whoopsy splunker!

We've often walked past this restaurant but were always hesitant to go in, as it looked quite expensive. We finally decided to try it for lunch today, and we're glad we did. While it is on the pricey side, the excellent food and service were well worth it. The only disappointment was the coffee. It was clearly from an automatic machine, which is something you don't expect from a restaurant of this calibre.
Mike B — Google review
Excellent food. The service wasn't great which considering it wasn't busy was a little disappointing. It was cold inside the restaurant.

Great food. A must stop on the southwest coast. This health focused eatery was a nice change from many of the other cafes on the path. Fresh dishes that leave you feeling light and ready to hike. The cafe also has a nice gift shop that sells a variety of items from kids games to soaps. The owner is an artist and I think screen prints many of the items him self.

This is without doubt the best cafe in the U K in my experience. One of the best in the world that I have visited. If a cafe could be awarded a Michelin star this would deserve it. I had an English breakfast, top class. My partner had the vegetarian version which was incredible, truly superb. Restaurants should use this as a standard for vegetarian meals as mostly the veggie options are an afterthought. I applaud the Fat Apples staff for the high standard of food and for their impeccable service and politeness.

Just back from a fantastic birthday lunch and the salads are just amazing… followed by a huge meringue with delicious raspberry coulis, sorbet and a candle in the top as it is my birthday. Impromptu singing from the staff added to the occasion. What a great place this is!! Good mix of locals and visitors here today too which was lovely to see!

A sweet family run cafe with an eclectic feel! Friendly staff, great food! We had a polenta cake (home made) and a bacon bap with coffee. Both excellent and beautifully served. The menu features dishes made from produce foraged from the estate or sourced ethically from the local area, earning them a Green Michelin Star in 2021.
Hidden amongst a rural estate this place is beautiful. We were met with a handshake and made to feel very welcome. Dinner was fresh, seasonal and fragrant. We returned a few months later and Tim the chef remembered us! We enjoyed the most fantastic coffee and Danish for breakfast ❤️.

Excellent food , seasonal, much of it grown on site or using high quality local suppliers. Innovative soft drinks (seasonal cordials/shrubs/kombuchas) as well as cider made on site and good wine list. Goats curd confit garlic and broad bean toast was excellent as well as the pizzas and salami / cod’s roe. High quality baked goods too available to buy from the counter (blood orange cake was excellent) but don’t hang around as they seem to sell out fast! Service a little on the slow side but it was clearly a busy service on a hot day (one meal was missed and was quite delayed but was taken off the bill, thank you). Beautiful courtyard and off the beaten track. Dog friendly. Would recommend and return.

Appleton's Bar & Restaurant, previously located in St Issey, has now moved to Fowey due to its growing popularity. The restaurant is owned by Andy and Lyndsey Appleton, with Andy being a former head chef at Fifteen Cornwall. The menu features rustic Italian dishes with a modern twist, such as prosecco-battered polenta chips and rose harissa fish stew. The restaurant is housed in a former bank near Fowey's quay and waterfront.
Excellent Italian food and top quality service. Dog friendly which was fantastic. Make their own pasta with a bronze dye. Squid linguine with crab was packed full of flavour. The selection of non alcoholic cocktails was excellent. Wish we could have had a pudding, but we'd only just eaten a cake from the bakery. Next time we will! Pricey lunch, but you get what you pay for, and this was special. Highly recommended.

So happy we tried this place. We got lunch and brought our little, which I was a bit worried about because this place was so fancy. However they were very accommodating with the baby and the space was bigger than expected. On top of that the food was amazing, even the baby's pesto pasta which was a huge portion so we ate some of it. Everything we tried was 10/10. Some lamb shoulder and squash pasta both exceptional. I wish we had more time to come here again to try more.

Located near North Quay, The Verdant Seafood Bar is part of the Verdant Brewing Company and offers a delectable selection of small plates to accompany their eight lines of beer. In addition to spirits, wine, and soft drinks, the menu features freshly prepared seafood dishes that change based on the day's catch.
Absolutely loved the Verdant Seafood Bar. We sat down at around 6pm on a Tuesday and it was very quiet at that point but soon filled up. The vibe/atmosphere is very cozy and intimate, it being a cellar setting. Service was exceptional and friendly throughout, and the food was just incredible. We had a couple of specials that were great and the soused mackerel on sourdough was outstanding. And whatever you order, you can have lovely Verdant beers alongside. On the whole, if you have any interest at all in seafood or beer, this place is absolutely a must to visit.

So amazing, went on my own and didn’t feel lonely all night. Well looked after but not fussed over. The food was delicious too, nothing to fault whatsoever. I would highly recommend this place, it really is brilliant. The level of attention to detail is remarkably, very impressive.

I won't say anything new to others but just wanted to reiterate that this is a MUST MUST MUST if you're in Falmouth! Absolutely delicious beers from Verdant brewery (best IPAs we've tried to date - and we've tried a lot!) and absolutely delicious food! The staff were also really friendly and welcoming and although we had to wait a little bit to get a table the guy there made sure to come out every 5-10 minutes to give us an update on what tables were about to finish. Thanks team! We loved it there!! And hopefully will be back!!

I’ve been to The Verdant Seafood Bar twice now and both times it was delightful. The service is friendly, relaxed, not rushed. We felt really welcome & looked after. The food is incredible! The fish finger butty is always brilliant, but most recently I also tried the soused mackerel and it was fantastic. So flavourful and interesting. I can’t wait to come back & try more dishes. To drink I had a glass of the picpoul and it was lovely. It really complimented the fish. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life. Every single dish was incredible. The pollock crudo, fish finger butty, fish tacos, loaded crab fries…and the Kimchi fritters!?! My goodness. A few beers and a sweet, sparkling cider. Delicious. Incredible

Amazing food but pricy, especially considering the small portions. The place is cozy and service friendly but they could use some proper chairs instead of the small stools with no back support. The beer is what it’s all about and the ones we tried were good but the food really takes the price.
Henrik G — Google review
My wife and I popped into Verdant Seafood Bar on a Thursday lunchtime. We had seen the good reviews but weren't sure what to make of the place initially as it's very unassuming from the outside. Despite the mild-mannered facade we found a fantastic little restaurant that we were very happy to have taken a chance on. If you enjoy small plate, relaxed, tapas style dining then this place is a must. The kimchi fritters were great, the hake was beautiful and rich and the mackerel we had was so fresh and vibrant, it was genuinely one of the nicest things I've eaten in a long time. The fish taco was the only item that didn't meet the same standard as everything else; they were a bit greasy and lacking in flavour. This really was a minor blip though. The service was perfect for us: attentive but not overbearing and the drinks were great as well. The atmosphere is chilled and cozy whilst also accommodating kids. Frankly we're gutted we don't live closer so we can go more often!

Crocadon Farm, located in St Mellion, has become a highly anticipated dining destination for chefs in the southwest. The 120-acre property is home to a restaurant that offers modern cuisine with a spectacular lunch menu featuring creatively crafted dishes like fermented peas with a horseradish-like herb and charred gem lettuce with flower butter. The open kitchen allows guests to witness the composed and efficient teamwork of the chefs.
Went to the restaurant last month. Fantastic place with very well executed food made from ingredients grown on the farm, run by a deeply knowledgeable and skilled chef-owner. We had a well put together lunch tasting menu, which emphasised sharing courses; the highlights were the kuri squash tartlet, autumn salad, hen of the woods parfait and hogget main course. We had some very good coffee at the cafe after the meal, and got some excellent bread and cider to take Would highly recommend.

Just had one of the best meals I've ever had at Crocadon Farm. The amazing flavours came from unusual and delicious herbs and fascinating varieties of vegetables grown on the farm, with fish from the coast and the most succulent lamb, also reared on the farm. It wholeheartedly deserves its Michelin star and Michelin green star. It is an amazing operation and very much worth a detour if passing via Plymouth into Cornwall.

Best restaurant I have ever been to. Atmosphere was amazing, really put in effort over the soft drinks which was nice when i was driving.

Absolutely astonishing food, the presentation was first class, the tastes were explosive. The staff were relaxed yet attentive to detail. The duty of care to our dietary needs was exceptional. A well deserved Michelin star 🌟 Well done all 🥰

Very disappointing I had a breakfast roll takeaway which was the only choice except cakes. It said belly pork and egg with hot sauce. It was a very small roll with an egg and a slither of belly pork that was no thicker than a rasher of bacon and for that privilege I paid a whopping £10. I could not taste the hot sauce. Sorry but this is well overpriced and in my opinion not worth half the price.

Nothing short of spectacular. I had the lunch menu (£45) and was blown away by the creativity of the chefs (fermented peas with a horseradish-like herb… Charred gem lettuce with flower butter… different bits of the same lamb, to show the scope, with a glossy curd-like beetroot paste…) but also the execution. The open kitchen bares all. Yet the team is composed, calm and efficient like a well-oiled machine. I walked up a number of times to ask the head chef about how he cooked something and he’d show me patiently. And finally, a shout out to the products: weird and wonderful flowers, endemic wheats and lambs reared with so much attention that the meat on your plate comes with a name and a biography. This was easily on of the best meals in my life.

Excellent food and service. Tremendous experience. Great location. Wonderful tastes and colour. Would definitely go again. Good value too. NB. The lack of dishes recommended were due to different options on our visit. Mussels brilliant. Gooseberry, elderflower desert an explosion of taste.

The Mariners Public House in Rock is a relaxed eatery with a terrace offering a variety of dishes including seafood, shepherd's pie, and meat options. Situated by the Camel Estuary, diners can enjoy picturesque views of oyster beds while indulging in locally sourced delicacies. Led by Paul Ainsworth and his team, this gastropub boasts a menu featuring small plates and hearty Cornish classics.
Went in for a drink and we decided to have some snacks. Everything we had was superb. Possibly the best cabbage I’ve ever had and the truffle mayo was worth the money on its own. The scotch egg is worth a try too. We will have a proper sit down meal next year. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name but the gentleman front of house is a credit to the establishment. He couldn’t do enough for us. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We will be back. Loved it.

Went for dinner here while staying in Rock and was wowed by the food and service! The restaurant is set overlooking the sea and the feel is very relaxed and down to earth focusing on local drinks and produce to a very high standard. To eat we shared a scotch egg, chicken curry and gem salad side. All were exceptional! The scotch egg and curry where some of the best we have ever had! Service was also lovely and super genuine. Couldn't recommend enough if you are in Rock or looking for a proper gastropub in North Cornwall. Also thought it was very good value and reasonably priced for the outstanding quality!

Good restaurant but nothing great about it. Menu very poor, especially in seafood and fish options. We had monkfish that was ok but nothing great to justify the price. The goat cheese was really good. We had a tomato salad from the special menu that was weird and disappointing. The wine was warm and we asked ice to be added to the bucket. The young stuff that served our table really nice and helpful, however we felt rushed there.

A joy, good staff , aware of their clients. My partner has some mobility issues, so ensured she had somewhere to sit whilst waiting for our table. Good traditional food options, great deserts with custard 🍮

Wow, what can I say? We've wanted to come here for ages and was so pleased to be able to book a table for lunch and bring our labrador along during our holiday in Cornwall. Earlier in our stay, we'd booked a table at Rick Stein's pub in St Merryn and left feeling pretty disappointed. The staff at that place could learn an awful lot from those at The Mariners! From our arrival, which was half an hour early, to the moment we left, the staff were absolutely brilliant. The perfect balance of attentiveness without intrusiveness and made us (even our lab!) feel very welcome. The food was outstanding, honestly - every single bite was simply delicious. The best squid I've ever had, and so well presented. Our mains were the monkfish and lamb rump, followed by the pineapple and brown butter sponge with the most amazing custard. Overall, the staff, the location, the pub, the food and drinks made this whole experience a real treat. It is going to be a firm fixture for future trips to Cornwall. Cannot wait to return!

It was our first time trying The Mariners and it was fab! We got a good table by the front window overlooking the bay and outside seating so we could enjoy the lovely evening. I didn’t catch her name but there was one lady handling the bar and orders on her own downstairs and she did an awesome job, was proper on top of everything and was friendly too. The food was amazing! So tasty and really interesting options too. Not the cheapest but for the name attached to the pub it’s not surprising, but also very fair because the food was extremely well done. The chicken thigh madras curry in particular was delicious. It was quite loud at times so occasionally difficult to hear each other, but overall a great atmosphere. Will gladly return one day!

Coombeshead Farm, located near Launceston in Cornwall, is an idyllic estate known for its pristine farm-to-table cooking. The menu offers a multi-course surprise set featuring ingredients grown, pickled, and reared on the farm. Guests can enjoy a longer stay in one of the nine luxurious rooms spread across the farmhouse and a newly converted grain store. The farmhouse exudes a homey atmosphere with an extensive mix of interior furnishings.
What an absolutely magical place to stay. The room was beautiful, the surroundings were so peaceful. The highlight was of course the food! Most of what we ate was grown, reared, baked and made on site and all of it was exceptional. Fantastic service, every member of staff was friendly and professional and clearly very experienced. Can't wait to head back for another stay soon

This is a beautiful place for a quiet few days away. Really well presented rooms with high-end fittings and a really comfortable bed. I didn't eat at the restaurant on-site but when I saw the dishes coming out I wish I had. Ingredients used are from the farm itself and wandering around the vegetable garden and poly-tunnel are a joy in itself. I love that they also use their own Dexter and Mangalica meat and the animals look very contented.
Gavin M — Google review
On the second day after my arrival I said to my friends: if you want to give me a great gift, allow me to work here on the farm for 3 months, for free, just to see and learn how they live and work with, for and from nature! Work in and for the nature! But as a guest: feel in paradise! The winding road finally leads us to the farm / hotel. A young, easy-going gentleman comes up to us and kindly asks if we would like to check in. He leads us to the main house, where he first introduces us to the lower floor. Here we find a large, cosy living room with a fireplace, a library with a bar full of local curiosities, a games room with a large table and finally a kitchen where we can brew ourselves some tea or coffee. Then the rooms ... just perfectly cosy and elegant all in one. Technically well equipped but even more important are the many small details to discover. The view of the green through the windows and the music of the birds in the morning let yourself go smooth. A first walk around the farm, the surrounding countryside and the garden reveals an overwhelming array of greenery and wildlife. I think the city gardener would have a heart attack when he sees this perceived chaos in the garden beds, but a closer look reveals an extraordinarily modern, nature-orientated concept and thus an incredibly rich result of synergies. In the deep grass, lively chickens poke their heads out curiously and you can hear a contented grunt from the forest. I almost had to laugh when I discovered the pigs digging for roots with their permanent curl-like bristles between the trees. Old, very old oaks and modern solar cell fields provide a respectful contrast. But it was the dinner in the evening, including the English wine, that made us realise the true richness of this place. A variety that you could only guess at on the tour the day before, and this modern and creatively realised. I can't go into all the details that we enjoyed ... you just have to experience it for yourself. A kitchen, on the one hand casual and on the other hand the best and most sophisticated for a long time. Talking to a chef in the garden the next day taught me another lesson ...they know their job! By the way: breakfast and bread ...the good things just keep on coming. As I said, I would love to be an apprentice here!

Porthmeor Beach Cafe is a popular spot located on the Atlantic side of St Ives, offering stunning views of the beach and serving as an ideal place to watch surfers and sunsets. The cafe features heated booths for cooler months and offers a diverse menu ranging from build-your-own breakfasts to tapas, imaginative cocktails, and classic cream teas.
If you want amazing views, good coffee and breakfast this is the place to go. Food was good quality, hot and the sausages were amazing. Staff were very friendly, always willing to help. The waitress even went out of her way to get our little boy more strawberries. Excellent location, amazing views and lots of seating inside and outside. Very highly recommended 👌

The cafe lives up its reviews. The food was unique and tasty, and the service was good. It was a busy day, and after a parking nightmare, we were an hour late - but they called me, and they accommodated us. Even in the restaurant we had to move table and they were super proactive and helpful.

Absolutely superb breakfast, in a wonderful cafe with incredible views. The place is amazing, sat on the cliff face with the beach and sea right opposite, the views are superb. They have various seating areas, inside, in the pods (recommended) or on the benches on the lower level. The service was immaculate, they look after you, are set up with colouring kits for kids etc. We both had the Build Your Own breakfasts with various items. All were superb. Really really good. Cannot recommend highly enough and we’ll be back for a lunch or dinner in the next day or so. Loved it. Edited the review to reflect that we also had our evening meal here. And what a place! If you book at the right time you get to see a stunning sunset. Food wise the evening menu was delicious. We really enjoyed it. We shared scallops, pork tacos, crispy sea bass, tortilla, tomato and moz salad. The little fella had, as usual, chicken and chips.

Fabulous! Definitely one of our new favourite spot in Cornwall to enjoy the ocean view and good quality food! Service impeccable! We spend around £40/50 pp because we had 2 beers and 2 glasses of Prosecco, otherwise we would have spent around £30 each tasting quality food! Highly recommended!

Had dinner with friends here on our last night in St Ives. We booked a pod that came with spectacular views of the beach and a beautiful sunset. The food was really good, the star of the show was the crispy sea bass but was impressed with all the dishes we had. Service was faultless, nothing was too much trouble. Anyone who visits here will be in for a treat but make sure you book in advance as it gets very busy.

Ardor is a vibrant and modern restaurant located in St Ives, Cornwall. Led by the talented chef Dorian Janmaat, this dining spot offers a unique culinary experience inspired by the flavors of Cornwall and Andalusia. The menu features a variety of fresh seafood and dry-aged cuts, including options like calamari, mackerel, monkfish, and lamb rump cooked over charcoal. The restaurant's bright and contemporary ambiance makes it suitable for both intimate evenings and larger group celebrations.
We were keen to try the restaurant but didn’t have too much time during our stay for an evening meal. We were walking by and spotted a lunch option. What a great way to try the restaurant, we cannot wait to go back for an evening meal. The decor is great, staff are all excellent. We very much enjoyed our lamb flatbreads and equally the beer in a chilled glass and wonderfully served red wine. 10/10 - no hesitation.
Gem R — Google review
Terrible experience. We went to Ardor in St. Ives because it’s listed in the Michelin Guide, but it turned out to be one of the worst dinners we’ve had in the area – and honestly, one of the most disappointing ever. The service was downright embarrassing: we waited forever just to place our order, and even longer just to ask for drinks. There was zero attention to the customer and no professionalism. When we raised a concern about the poor quality of the food, we were dismissed with a cold and uninterested “I’m sorry.” No effort to understand or fix the issue. As for the food – absolutely below par. The main courses (octopus and prawns) were clearly defrosted, tasteless, and miles away from the freshness you’d expect in a seaside town like St. Ives. Nothing on the plate justified the high prices on the menu. The final bill was just the cherry on top: overpriced and completely unjustifiable given the poor quality of both food and service. Bottom line: avoid this place. Ardor relies entirely on appearances, but has nothing of substance to offer. There are many much better and more authentic restaurants in St. Ives, serving fresh local fish daily and offering genuine hospitality. This place is just a big disappointment.

Wow ! This place is off the charts ! Food was so delicious. A great comprehensive menu and locally sourced specials. So many good dishes we struggled to choose. Cocktails were on another level and service was on point. The head chef even had time to talk us through his kitchen and inspiration. There is even a bespoke vegan menu . St Ives is lucky to have a gem like this and we look forward to our next visit . Thankyou
Adam H — Google review
The food and drinks were nice, we ordered a variety from the tapas menu and enjoyed all food we ate. The reason I have given 3 stars is the price and service charge add on. We had another tapas style meal earlier in the week and the food was just a good but half the price at the end for roughly the same amount of food per person. And then to add on a discretionary service charge at 12.5% at the end i would really be expecting outstanding service from start To finish to feel justified to pay that, although none of the staff were rude service with a smile goes a long way. Overall all for what we paid per head it just doesn’t live up to the price point.

We had an amazing experience at Ardor! The staff were super friendly, very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu and specials, and were happy to give recommendations if necessary. We ordered a mix of small plates and mains. We have nothing bad to say about any of the dishes, they were all delicious. The standouts for us were the pork belly pinxtos and the lamb kebab. For the quality of the food and service, the price was very reasonable. This is definitely worth a visit in St Ives!

A superb dining experience in a beautiful restaurant, served by wonderful friendly staff. We sat at the kitchen pass and enjoyed watching Chef Grant and team produce our flawless meals. An absolute gem in St Ives. Highly recommended.

We went to Ardor St Ives for a special dinner, and they took us on a magnificent journey of flavors. The menu, with its Mediterranean cuisine blended with Spanish and Argentinian influences, allows you to experience very distinct notes from a single plate. For starters, we had the truffle mushrooms, Jamón croquettes, and burrata with peach, all of which were fantastic. The olives I tasted here were among the most delicious I've ever had. However, the star of the night was definitely the dry-aged rib eye. The harmonious distribution of fat and the level of aging were perfect. In every slice, the meat was incredibly juicy and tender. This is a Michelin candidate for me. Thank you for a wonderful dinner accompanied by a Spicy Margarita. I hope to visit again soon.

Harbour Fish & Chips is a casual seaside eatery offering an array of seafood dishes, including the classic fish and chips, as well as beverages like beer and coffee. Situated just a short distance from the town's charming cobbled streets and within walking distance of several beautiful beaches, it provides an idyllic setting for enjoying a meal. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing its fish from local suppliers and using potatoes from nearby farms to ensure high-quality ingredients.
Just realised I went in a little to early before they open. I’m visiting St Ives for a few days and was contemplating if I should get fish and chips since I can pretty much get it anywhere anyway, but I was super hungry and I thought maybe I’ll give it a shot. The restaurant got quite a great selection of fish I can choose from and I decided to go for Battered Sea Bass with a portion of chips and Tartare sauce. Total came out about £16 which is not too bad, pretty much the same as what I paid for in London or maybe cheaper here. After coming across a few bad reviews, I didn’t care much as I’m super hungry, walk all the way to sit in Porthmeor beach since there are not much sea gulls and I can sit on the beach. The food is very nice portion, the chips is great but the fish. Absolutely gorgeous! It is crispy, not oily at all. It got the perfect crunch and batter on it which is not too thick and paired with the tartare sauce is phenomenon! The forgot the cutlery but it was fine I can just pick the fish up and bite it and they threw in a slice of lemon which is super great I would give this place a go if you’re visiting St Ives and looking for some good fish and chips!

Had a fantastic experience at Harbour Fish & Chips in St Ives! The location right on the harbour is perfect, and the food was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the freshness of the locally sourced fish and chips—they’re easily the best in town. Loved that everything is prepared on-site, and the chips were perfectly cooked. Great service and staff who make you feel very welcome. A lovely spot to eat in or grab a takeaway. Highly recommend!

A must visit for fish and chips and oysters. The mussels were good too! The sauce was not salty and was tick and full of flavour. Very generous portions. Quick service and friendly staff We didn't have to wait long and as a group of 9 we were very lucky to sit down together and have some great food and in good time too. No long wait and everyone's order came out pretty much at the same time and all hot and tasty The oysters came with lemon and Tabasco. I would have like the red onion vinaigrette but they were good even with just the lemon. Tables could do with more napkins and or wiping cloth for the finger wash bowls but overall, we loved this restaurant Everyone left full and happy.

On a day out in St Ives this place completed my day with one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Highly recommend if you are around its worth the wait.

Delicious fish and chips. If I was honest, I wasn't expecting much from this fish and chip shop, which sits on the seafront of a busy resort. However, from the moment we were greeted by the friendly staff to the arrival of our delicious fish and chips, I was so glad we'd chosen to visit. The fish was cooked to a turn, the batter deliciously crunchy, and the chips and peas a perfect accompaniment. Highly recommended!

Had the cod and chips with a pint of their lager. Fish and chips were decent but fairly average, especially compared to other spots around Cornwall and beyond. Located on the golden sands of Perranporth beach in Cornwall, The Watering Hole is a popular family and dog-friendly beach bar and restaurant. It offers a simple menu featuring burgers, snacks, and pies along with a wide selection of local beers, wines, spirits, and soft drinks. Visitors can enjoy stunning sea views from the terrace while sipping on hot drinks or sundowners.
This place is fantastic it’s like being abroad but they speak English and the money is easy to use( not euros 🤣)food and cakes are great. It’s such a great relaxed atmosphere to sit and while away the hours. This is the fifth year of coming here LOVE IT 👍🏻👍🏻

The Watering Hole is a nice bar in the middle of Peranporth Bay Beach with plenty of seating both in and outside. It faces towards some amazing cliff arches that you can walk through to other arches, Caves and another part of the beach. The beach itself is patrolled by Lifeguards and is child friendly where the water comes in as the tide goes out far. Many people bring beach tents and wind breaks. However the seagulls are a menace and will have your food in a blink of an eye if you are careless.

The Watering Hole on Perranporth beach is a popular spot. At high tide the sea comes very close to the large outdoor seating area. It frequently has live music events to which dogs are not welcome but are welcome at all other times. There are bars upstairs and downstairs with a large veranda. The newly built extension contains public toilets and an outdoor shower for beach goers. I have docked one star only for the fact that customers need a fat wallet when visiting. It is far from cheap. A simple Doombar will cost £5.30 per pint. There are other bars close to the beach but they also are not cheap. Overall the Watering Hole is a great asset to the beach, as a local I just wish it was more affordable. Great for holiday makers for food and drink, pleasant views and dog friendly. Just make sure you have plenty of money.

The Nest is a fantastic new addition perched right above The Wateringhole, sitting quite literally on Perranporth beach. It offers a perfect mix of relaxed dining and lively nightlife, making it a must-visit spot whether you’re in for a chilled afternoon or a buzzing evening out. Downstairs, you can grab crowd-pleasers like pizza and burgers — great beachside comfort food that hits the spot. But the real gem is upstairs: the rooftop bar. The vibes are brilliant, with a laid-back coastal feel during the day and a lively energy at night when the DJ takes over. Cocktails are a highlight here — creative, refreshing, and beautifully made, they’re exactly what you want to sip while watching the sun dip into the Atlantic. Combined with the views and atmosphere, it’s hard to beat. Overall, The Nest nails that balance of casual dining and rooftop sophistication, making it one of the best places to eat, drink, and unwind in Perranporth. Highly recommended!

The Watering Hole: Where the Sun Sets, the Cider Flows, and Even the Dogs Look Chuffed With Themselves The Watering Hole on Perranporth Beach is one of those places that somehow manages to feel both legendary and completely relaxed at the same time, and it lives up to its name every single time we visit. You don’t just go to the Watering Hole; you experience it. And you usually leave a little happier (and a little more full) than when you arrived. First off, the drinks. The ales are proper, the famous Rattler cider does exactly what it promises (in that slightly “woah, that’s stronger than I thought” kind of way), and everything feels fresh, well-kept, and served with a smile. If you’re after a beachside pint, you’re in the right place , no question. The food is exactly what you want from a place like this, tasty, fast, no-nonsense dishes you can happily enjoy either perched outside with the sea breeze in your hair or inside where it’s warm and full of atmosphere. Good mix of quick bites and satisfying plates, nothing too fussy, just reliably good. And the setting? Honestly unbeatable. On a proper summer’s evening, sat outside gazing out as the sun sets over the sand, drink in hand, it’s like someone designed it specifically for Instagram (and your soul). Even when the Cornish weather decides to misbehave, inside is still brilliant, cosy but lively, with sports on the screens if that’s your thing, plenty of space to eat, chat, and soak up the vibe. And of course, the dogs. The Watering Hole is fully dog-friendly, which means you can bring your furry mate along and nobody bats an eyelid when they park themselves under your table looking smug. So if you find yourself on Perranporth Beach and fancy great drinks, tasty food, friendly staff, and a view that will make you wonder why you don’t move here full-time… The Watering Hole is waiting. Legendary by name, legendary by nature.

The Rum & Crab Shack is a laid-back and rustic eatery located in St Ives, offering a vibrant atmosphere with live music and DJs. The restaurant features wooden seating and an impressive collection of rum and creative cocktails. The menu includes fresh crab, lobster, and a land and sea selection, as well as American deep south-inspired dishes. Visitors can enjoy shared seafood platters for a hearty dining experience.
This is my favourite place in St. Ives having been here several times over the past few years. We spent almost almost 6 hours here on a Sunday afternoon. The rum list was extensive and we tried a number of them. The staff were great and very friendly and knowledgeable. We did have some food, I thought the shack burger was really nice. Would definitely go back and it was great to have the best table in the house. It's also very dog friendly.

Fantastic Experience at The Rum & Crab Shack! We had an absolutely brilliant time at The Rum & Crab Shack! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome – their friendly and attentive service really set the tone for a wonderful afternoon. And the food? Simply delicious! We enjoyed every bite. Plus, we were lucky enough to get a table by the window, and the sea view was just stunning, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Highly recommend The Rum & Crab Shack for anyone looking for great food, a warm welcome, and beautiful scenery! We can't wait to go back.

Wow – what an experience! The food was absolutely amazing. My sister said the ribs (coated in a rich BBQ and rum sauce) were the best she’s ever had. I went for the jerk chicken, and my wife had fish and chips – everything was fresh, full of flavour, and perfectly cooked. The drinks didn’t disappoint either. With such a huge rum selection, happy hour was definitely enjoyed! A big bonus for us was how warmly our two large dogs were welcomed – that alone makes a huge difference. Add in the breathtaking beach view, and it all made for an unforgettable visit. The staff were outstanding, very friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be coming back, and I can’t recommend this place enough!

Absolute gem of a place staff were super friendly and accommodating we had what must be the best table in the restaurant overlooking the harbour. Cocktails were out of this world and the biggest list of rums to choose from I've ever seen. The bread is baked fresh in store daily something they are proud of and rightly so. We had the crab and haddock burger and the rack of ribs, the presentation was as good as the food tastes to die for. Portion size was very generous and couldn't finish it all. Couldn't recommend this place enough and will go every time we're in St ives

Staff amazing, atmosphere amazing. They don't make hot coffee but I have tasted an amazing iced coffee. Devilish whitebait, we were expecting to be spicy hence the name, chowder was a let down not my personal taste, lobster ok. Food wise there is still work to do.
Kat — Google review
The food here was amazing. Massive tasty portions and my Dad said he they did the best ribs he has ever eaten. Despite being very busy, we were able to get a table after just a short wait. They also had a good selection of drinks.
Laura — Google review
We came here and had rum & crab. My expectations of having rum & crab at The Rum & Crab Shack were thoroughly met. It was fun picking out a random shot of rum to try from their large selection of rum - over 100 rums apparently. I opted for a cherry flavoured rum which went down a little too easily. I wished I could try some more, but unfortunately couldn't because I was driving. The staff were super friendly & knowledgeable about the rums on offer. They seemed perfectly happy to make recommendations if asked. I guess they are also knowledgeable about crab, but I did not ask for any crab-related advice. They were very accommodating for our dog. We were able to choose a suitable table out of those that were available, which was a nice touch. The food was good - presented in the style of a seafood shack, also as expected! Would definitely recommend this place if you like rum & crab.

Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar is a modern seasonal bistro located in a historic pub dating back to 1717. Chef Ben Tunnicliffe has transformed the venue into a cozy locals' inn offering some of the best seafood in the country. The menu features an array of fish and shellfish, showcasing the freshest catch from Newlyn's fishermen based on seasonal availability.
Exquisite in every way! An absolutely delicious restaurant. Every dish we tried was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, prepared with a level of care that you can taste in every bite. The food was simply outstanding — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was also impeccable: attentive, friendly, and always with a smile. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do, and it shows in the entire experience. A place I’ll definitely return to and one I wholeheartedly recommend. A true culinary gem!

Excellent value for money with a great variety of fresh seafood on offer. Visited on a Bank Holiday Monday, there was a small queue outside, but the wait wasn’t too long. The food was delicious and served in reasonable portions. The John Dory was outstanding, with an unbeatable garlic butter. Will definitely be returning.
Martin C — Google review
Fantastic food, local fish and seafood doesn't get any better! Really friendly staff and service. Queues outside as the place is so popular but they were still able to seat us very quickly and our food was brought out to us really quickly and was lovely fresh and hot. The deep fried squid was super tasty, monkfish burger, crab salad and local hake with capers and samphire. Highly recommend everything including the elderflower cider!
Peter D — Google review
The food was amazing! They have two places to dine in and if you arrive at the peak you have to wait for a while. We waited for ten or fifteen minutes and took a inside dining bar. The service was very good, with a lady recommended some today’s specials ( the mussels were really nice and freshly cooked)
Yuuer — Google review
A lovely chill seafood restaurant with amazingly friendly staffs. The atmosphere is good, though a bit crowded. Scallops tastes amazing with dedicated texture and harmonious sauce. The only drawback is the lobster, which was a bit over-cooked and the texture goes firmer that I expected
Michael J — Google review
Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar is well worth a visit. We arrived at 2.30pm to take a look and were greeted on the kerb by the waitress who showed us to the table outside on the pavement and put a heater on ( we preferred pavement as we have an unpredictable puppy ) The portion sizes are small as it's a taster menu so select several. We had crispy Squid, grilled Monkfish and grilled Mackerel, all were cooked to perfection, the best lunch we have had in years. The service is definitely 5 star as well as the food. Yes, it's pricey as others have said however you can't get fresher fish than being next to the harbour, straight from the boat to the kitchen. You can't book a table just turn up, we went on a week day afternoon in October. Honestly well worth trying.
A L — Google review
Fantastic little place - you cant book a table and it operates via a queue system outside (this works best if you're in a couple as likely to get seated sooner than in a large group) however we didnt wait long at all. Food was delicious and fresh (the hake was like butter and melted in your mouth) staff are friendly and service was very efficient. It was full when we got there and I can understand why its so popular. All the food was cooked perfectly. There is also a carpark nearby (basically across the road), which we discovered was free from Mon-Sun after 4pm til 9pm - perfect for an evening meal. Highly recommend.
A G — Google review
Absolutely fantastic experience and worth every penny. We went on a Sunday and it was busy but they were still able to find us a very good seat. All staff were friendly and relaxed and knew a lot about the menu. The food was incredible, so fresh and the flavours were perfect. We had one of the specials, the smoked mackerel pate, the John Dory and the crab salad and we loved it. Would highly recommend it if you have the budget. It's worth the treat if you like local seafood.

Porthgwidden Beach Cafe is a charming restaurant located in a small and sheltered bay between St Ives The Island and its picturesque harbor. With its sizable terrace offering beach views, the cafe provides a relaxed atmosphere where visitors can enjoy Mediterranean, British, and Asian flavors. The menu features tapas-style small plates including Newlyn crab nachos, Cornish mussels, and Tuscan-style pizzas.
I was really debating between four and five stars on this one though in the end I chose the latter. The reason is that in my opinion food is the most impactful on a review. Though over all the staff was lovely and had a nicely themed environment. The lady who served me was extremely friendly and polite. For example we were all planning on getting a crab sandwich with I side of chips but she informed us that the crab sandwich would already have a small portion of chips instead of just letting us buy extra which of course would result in a higher cost. Overall very nice place definitely would come again.

Fantastic beach side - more than a cafe - serving lovely food. Very friendly and welcoming. We had a selection of dishes - Crab Taco, Garlic Prawns, Mussels with fries and beautifully soft bread and really creamy butter!
Andrew M — Google review
Nice place on Porthgwidden Beach, had a lovely table with a beautiful off the beach and beyond. Apart from the burger which looked dry and overcooked the food was pretty good and served generous portions. The service was OK, nothing special and felt a bit rushed to get us to leave after we just finished our meal. A bit of improvement around service and teach the kitchen how to make a decent burger then they’ll be on to a winner!

We come across this Beach Café by chance, it's tucked away down the beach approach just off the St Ives - Island car Park. Got to say the drive to and from the car park was tight and through the town, but we managed to squeeze down the tight roads in our Ford Ranger. The Porthgwidden Beach Café was a lovely unexpected jewel, we were greeted by the staff and seated at the lovely window table overlooking the bay. The food choice was just what we expected, and the quality was 2nd to non, we both had the fish and chips, which was great quality and taste. The service was extremely quick, and the staff where really friendly, giving us advice on the scenery and where we should visit. All in all I will give this place a 5/5 for food, service and a friendly atmosphere. We will definitely save this as a favourite for when we return back to Cornwall.

Well .. it was our 1st wedding anniversary & needless to say we had to go back to where we had our wedding breakfast mealy , only the two of us instead of the 3o one year ago this time round .. & what a joy ( cheaper too , lol ) , great views just as before & made relaxed .. quick catch up with 'Will' (plus others) & food ordered , service although a different waitress was second to none .. amazing food & 1st steak since being in town for the week , excellent perfectly cook & the lemon sole too . Wined Dined & Reminisced , fab evening & we'll be going back for sure ... why shouldn't we the food alone is enough.

The reason why is just one star for food is because we get squid rings which we paid £8.95…shocking, we got also burgers which was brilliant, perfect . You can see it in the picture. That was from takeaway

Rest A While Tea Garden, open from Easter to October, is a charming spot along the coastal path with picturesque views of the estuary. Visitors can indulge in homemade snacks, sandwiches, cakes, and a variety of teas and coffee at reasonable prices. The garden is known for its perfect cream teas and friendly service. Guests appreciate the freshly baked scones and the dog-friendly atmosphere. Although there are no on-site toilets, visitors can enjoy water bowls for their pets.
Rest A While Tea Garden is an absolute gem! The scones here are hands-down the best I’ve ever had – fresh, warm, and perfectly baked. Pair them with tea or coffee and the stunning panoramic views, and you've got a truly unforgettable experience. The concept behind this little back garden place is brilliant – a peaceful spot nestled in nature, making it well worth the drive and scenic walk to get there. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are incredibly friendly, adding to the charm of the visit. One small suggestion: I’d love to see a move away from single-use cups and plastic jam pots – a shift to more sustainable options would make this special place even better. All in all, a must-visit for anyone who loves good food, beautiful surroundings, and a bit of quiet magic in their day.

Absolutely loved our visit to Rest A While Tea Garden! The cream tea was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had – the scones were fresh, warm, and just perfect with the jam and clotted cream. The views from the tea garden were stunning – a really relaxing spot to sit and enjoy a treat. My son loved his milkshake too, which was a nice bonus. The man serving us was brilliant – really friendly and a good laugh, which made the experience even better. Would definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in the area. A lovely little gem!

This was my best memory in Cornwall finding this place on our walk. Such a simple hole in the wall and beautiful man who served us. Behind the scenes someone baking the best quiche and scones with clotted cream. Great tea and coffee. Weather was fantastic so we could sit outside and enjoy. Not the place to relax on a rainy. Keep up the good work.

We arrived in good weather. There was a small garden. The guests were friendly and helpful. They quickly made room. The scones were ready and warm shortly after ordering. A dream with tea. It started to rain, as expected in the UK. The friendly owners quickly handed out umbrellas. I give it full marks. I didn't find any faults.

I think this is the best restaurant in Cornwall. It hits all the right notes. It is incredible value for money, the food is outstanding. The portion sizes are just right. The cocktails are beautiful and super delicious and the wine list is excellent. The menu changes with the seasons and is small but perfectly formed - so very cleverly worked out as there is always something for everyone. The staff are exceptional - so friendly and attentive and so very committed to ensuring your visit is perfect. Reservations are essential at weekends and especially in the summer. I’ll go again and again.

Nice ambience and decor in the restaurant, my chair was unfortunately a bit sticky on the edge which i felt when pulling chair forward (probably from the previous customer). I wanted to get the waitresses attention but they all seemed busy. Not a problem, I wiped the residue away with a wet wipe. The food which we had was beautifully presented and tasty. I loved the Scallop risotto.. So delicious. Unfortunately my son’s filet steak was well done rather than medium rare which he asked for. He didn't want to make a fuss and said it was fine so he kept it. He said it was still a good piece of meat. There were 2 different lemonaid sold out which i wanted, but the one I had was nice (lime). Despite the experience not being 100%, the quality of the food is what we were there for and we enjoyed it.

Truly delicious offerings in a great location, you’ll need to book and we went for lunch at short notice and there was lots of availability. We opted for; Smoked Haddock scotch egg, fish and chips, sardines, octopus, scallop and greek salad. We’ve had these favourites many many times in many many places and from some of the best chefs going in Cornwall. It is not often we get new #1s from these choices…we now have 6 new #1s as they were that good. The wines were great too and the value was incredible…try the Lebanese wine and a dessert wine..you’ll love them both. Ohh n if you shelled peas with your Grandma and were allowed a few as a treat, that’s what the peas tasted like…memories that last forever. 😋😋😋

A fantastic find while visiting Looe. We booked a last min holiday to Looe, and while there we walked and searched for good food. This restaurant was outstanding. We loved every bite. The crispy squid was divine. The crab mac n cheese was the best mac we have ever tasted, and even after the selection of small plates and sides as a tapas style meal, we still had room left for dessert. Which didn’t disappoint. Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Flounders is a popular spot in Newquay, known for its quick-serve fish 'n' chips with various sauces. This pint-sized eatery offers outside seating and has been serving locals and visitors for over a decade. The crispy yet fluffy chips, light golden batter, perfectly cooked fish, and spicy curry sauce have made Flounders a go-to place for traditional fish and chips. Despite being super busy, the staff is friendly and efficient.
One of the best Fish & Chips I've ever had ! The place didn't harm it's reputation with an amazing batter and a hearty cod with chips and tasty curry sauce . Sadly it was a take away they forgot to put any cutlery. However , the lady serving afforded a smile despite being a long day for her . Overall - definitely recommended for its size and portion .
Abhi D — Google review
First time visiting Newquay fistal beach and fancied some fish and chips, had a quick look at the local area to see what is recommended and settled on Flounders. Arrived to a queue back to the door, a good sign. Didn't take too long before I got to order and looking at the options and prices it's comparable to other fish and chip shops I've been to. Placed an order for regular cod fish, jumbo sausages, large chips and curry sauce. Classic combination. Service with a smile and the wait for the food wasn't long especially for a Saturday night, looks to be a decent efficient service, as all the popular items are sitting under the warn lamp but as it's busy it doesn't sit there for long. Took the food away back to a suitable place to eat and the food was still hot. The batter on the fish is crisp with a satisfying crunch and not too greasy. The cod is a decent size and flaky. Chips were pretty standard, nothing special but nevertheless good enough and a generous portion. Jumbo sausages tasted fine and meaty, I don't think I had many grisle in mine. Curry sauce had a choice of mild or spicy, as the kids were sharing we had the mild, it was a good thickness and tasted just right for little palates. Really was a good fish and chips would recommend for those visiting the area.

Our favourite fish and chip shop we’ve ever been to. Always visit when in town. This time the fish was excellent as always and the scampi too. The Chips were very average bordering on poor, we’ve always rated these as better than average Also the online ordering was not working on the two days we tried it Hope it’s ap one off with reduced quality but if not we won’t return Shame

Lovely service and delicious fish and chips. Seriously good value for money for the quality of the food 🙌 Plus speedy cooking, fish freshly cooked and put up to wrap, not like some places where they have loads precooked and waiting in the hot cupboard. Got the recommendation from a friend who has been taking his daughter here since she was little, I can see why now. Will definitely be back. Thanks 🥰

Friendly and efficient. Easy to park close by (in the evening). Good sized portions - massive pieces of haddock - and tasted delicious. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

Good sized portions, perfectly cooked chips. Fish was lovely and flaky. Batter slightly thicker than I like but still really good. Fish not cheap but it seems to be getting dearer across the country at the moment - definitely worth the cost though! 👍

Just one word - superb. Fabulous setting, service, staff, quality and attention to detail. We could not fault the hotel at all. The little things really do matter, such as discovering the beach bag in the wardrobe complete with two beach towels. So thoughtful. The food was delicious, well prepared and plentiful. Staff - so helpful, polite and at the same time fun. Euan and Ruby were particularly great, as was Florien (sorry about the spelling)! Can't recommend this home from home highly enough. Thank you very much 🙂

Service is excellent, hats off to the trainer and to the staff throwing themselves into it. When they ask 'are you having a nice stay?' You feel they want to know. Breakfast room light easy breezy feel. Food quality is high so no need for mounds of it. We had dinner twice, A loved his chocolate mouse so much and wanted it again sadly everyone liked it too. The monkfish was simply cooked and to perfection. As A is not a keen fish eater, he opted for beef fillet, beautifully done he said. Didnt share it! The rooms are understated and pleasant, bathrooms very nicely designed, particularly like the twin shower arrangement. The lounge had a fire. Love a fire who doesn't! Some areas are tired, like the sofas - one cushion had a good chunk cut out the side as If taken for a sneaky sample. We went out of season, so weather hit and miss and some gardens etc were closed. If you want lots more to do other than walk come from mid April.

My husband and I went for our anniversary last weekend. What a treat. Truly old school, service, nothing is too much trouble and properly trained staff. The hotel hard a really warm feel, very relaxing and calming too. It was perfect. Our room was lovely too. The bar down stairs was perfect, the bartender was so knowledgeable too. The cocktails were as good as any top notch cocktail bar. We had breakfast outside each morning, it was delicious and what a view. We had supper in the restaurant too which was excellent. The service again was superb and the food was devious. Really worthy of the MICHELIN Key award it holds. Highly recommend. *****

Such a lovely hotel, with lovely amenities and staff. However, if you go to the sitting area across from the restaurant, they have a “selection” of newspapers to read. But the selection consists of The Times, The Mail and The Telegraph. That’s it. No other options. The message is subtle but blatant - only Right Wingers are welcome in this hotel. If you are centrist or remotely left wing, you don’t belong here.

We had the most fantastic and memorable meal again at the Tresanton to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. The setting on the terrace was beautiful, with stunning views—even when the heavens opened, we stayed perfectly dry and were so well looked after by Lydia, who couldn’t have done more to make us feel special. We laughed so much and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Amazing service, amazing setting— our anniversary tradition! We can’t wait to come back next year to our favourite place. Thank you Lydia and team!
Laura O — Google review
Not exactly the hotel this refers to, but the drinks "shed" over the road. We were going on a walk to St. Just and needed a caffeine top-up before setting off. Delicious hot black Americano and a warmish latte (quite why these aren't made slightly warmer baffles me, but seems to be what it is), at an average cost. Recommended.
Stephen K — Google review
We just had a lovely 5 night stay. The service, hotel and views were spectacular! Would thoroughly recommend for either couples or family.
Philip S — Google review
We have had lunch there several times in the last few months and every time the service, food and attention to detail has been exceptional. It was my Mum’s birthday and having alerted the hotel to this in advance, we had champagne on the house and a personalised dessert! Mum was over the moon! All the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Perfect. The set lunch is such good value - really delicious. The fish and chips and house wine are actually cheaper than at most local pubs so it doesn’t have to be a really expensive meal! But I did have the oysters which were such a treat. And you can’t really beat the view of the bay and St Anthony’s Head in the distance. As well as such a gorgeous restaurant and lounge area. One day we will treat ourselves to a stay there as I can imagine the whole 24/7 experience would be fantastic. So thank you to everyone who works so hard in giving their guests such a great experience.

Kynance Cove Cafe is a charming eatery located in a former fisherman's cottage above the stunning Kynance Cove. This remote cove, owned by the National Trust, boasts breathtaking views of craggy offshore islands and clear turquoise waters. The cafe offers local food, Fair Trade coffee, and ice cream for visitors to enjoy while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
The baked potato with beans and cheese was sublime! And even the side salad was faultless. Great cappuccino and the carrot cake was an absolute delight. Fantastic service and good prices. I was seriously impressed with the food and totally recommend it. Miss this and miss out...

We only had beer, so can’t vouch for the food but to have a cool glass of Tribute outside with that stunning view was superb. It’s a small café with plenty of outdoor seating and a brilliant way to make the most of the beach. The café is basic, but from what I could see when people were eating, the food looked good. Only marked down because the service was surly at best and borderline rude at worst. No WiFi available, and no reception on EE or Three
Leigh B — Google review
We did the wonderful coastal walk from Lizard Point to Kynance Cove and back yesterday. The weather was wonderful and the waves were really powerful, crashing onto the cliffs and rocks. This cafe is literally a few steps from the beach. We only had drinks here but the food and ice creams looked amazing. Would highly recommend a visit to this cafe if visiting the cove.

One of the world’s great views from the cafe at Kynance Cove. We had coffees, hot chocolates (with all “the works”), and cakes. Delicious. Order inside, they give you a number, and you pick up from the hatch when your number is called. Wooden benches and deckchairs outside. You’ll not regret calling here!

Small trek from the car park down to Kynance cove and there’s this cafe right by the beach / cove! Had the best pasty from Ann’s and also some good coffee. They also had a vegetarian cheese pasty! Also has souvenirs, drinks and postcards here. Did a loop track to lizard point and back here for seconds!

Okay food and coffee but you can't beat the location overlooking Kynance Cove. Bonus points for having swifts nesting in the toilets. Arrive early in the morning so you can avoid the Instagram idiots who think it's a big beach so bring every inflatable possible and then just block the steps down to the beach. Almost worth the wait to watch their jaws go slack as they realise the tide is in.

The parlour offers a variety of treats such as ice creams, sundaes, cream teas, homemade cakes, and freshly ground Yallah coffee. Their ice cream is made from the delicious milk of Cornish cows grazing on lush coastal grass.
really love this place <3 their chocolate ice cream and mocha were beautiful and delicious!! my partner offered to pay for an empty cone as i wanted to eat the cone without the ice cream (weird cravings lol) and the lovely lady just gave it away for free. honestly such a lovely hidden gem with a really cute giftshop too!! feel like it would be a lovely place to study and do some work but sadly we arent locals, would definitely recommend this cafe xxx

The tomato soup with the cheese scone was so delicious; the soup was herby with a bit of spice, not too salty and the cheese scone was warm, the butter softened. Thoughtful service. That bowl really did the trick on a cold February day. I had ice cream, of course. The flavours I chose did not disappoint (2 scoops, one Belgian choc, one vanilla). I didn't have space for the popular 'Shipwreck' at the time. I did, however, go back the next day to get a scoop, and yes, delicious 😋 I also tried the seasonal apple cider sorbet. I think if I had a whole scoop in the summer as opposed to a taster in February, I would have to enjoy it as a sorbet float 🍹✨️

My personal favourite ice cream (alongside Roskilly's) but they do a very nice lunch too. We had emmental, pastrami and gherkin toasties. Highly recommended. And the Moo-berry flavour ice cream seemed to give me a remarkable energy boost that lasted the rest of the day! Apparently it is made with about half a dozen different berries. Have they discovered some new secret formula?! 😁

Tried the chocolate and the raspberry ripple. The chocolate was decent, but nothing that stood out. Unfortunately, the raspberry ripple was a bit of a letdown — I was expecting a stronger, fruitier flavor. Overall, it was okay, but I was hoping for something a little more special.

In my research for delicacies in Cornwall, this place popped up often and I was quite keen to know what a moomaid is! Finding it was not difficult as it's at the corner of a busy road. They have high chairs along the glass windows and a few tables inside for groups. They sell merchandise as well along with food and are pet friendly. We visited this place almost all of the days during our stay for their avocado on toast, brie and pesto toastie and coffee. We did try a few flavours of their ice cream and found pistachio to be the best. The sourdough bread they use is pretty good and the ingredients they use for their food is fresh and good quality as is evident in the taste. Watching cars and vans make the right turn around it's corner always fascinated me while sipping on coffee and enjoying a slice of their cake. I have tried a few varieties of the cake they serve in my visits and do notice that the cut slices are always a bit dry (orange and almond cake, coffee and walnut) but the ones cut fresh from a loaf were moist and delicious (lemon drizzle). They might have to find a way to keep the cake slices from going dry being in contact with air throughout the day. The avocado toast and brie pesto toastie are heavenly and we will be going back for it whenever we are in St Ives. Their scone with cream and jam was good as well. The staff, though friendly and prompt in their service, do look a bit fatigued and detached as the day progresses probably due to being on their feet all day serving customers and managing the cafe.

Never expected to find a local Portuguese restaurant in Cornwall. This nicely located, very friendly owners (Sue and Antonio) pacts a very fresh seafood menu that tastes just like the time I was in Porto. Quality of food was amazing and the price to portions were well worth it. You need to try the full three course as it is all made by them. The hand made ceramics they have are also great as a souvenir. Must try but remember to book prior as they do get busy every day. They close on Sunday and Monday.

This place is the real deal. Unpretentious and authentic, this local Portuguese restaurant really focuses on excellent quality fish and true home cooking flavours without fuss or frills. We had memorable seafood rice, grilled sardines, scallops and grilled gurnard. The best food I’ve had in some time. Felt like I was on holiday and can’t wait to return.

Alvorada is an absolute gem. An intimate little restaurant with only 4 tables in the home of the owners. Antonio, the chef, goes out fishing 2 or 3 times a week and cooks whatever is in season and he catches. The food is exquisite and the owners are very charismatic and have lots of stories to share. Definitely one for a special occasion - mains are around £20 and starters £8-£10. Truly special dining experience!

My wife and I ate here on Wednesday 28th May and loved every minute and mouthful. The owners are lovely and the food full of flavour and delicious. This was my third cream tea whilst I was holiday in Cornwall and this was by far the best tasting. Lovely fresh homemade scones and a choice of plain or sultana’s scone- the others didn’t offer this option. The service was very efficient by the young man waiting the tables. S. Jelbert's is a beloved ice cream destination that has been a family tradition for generations. The wait from winter to their opening is eagerly anticipated, and visitors always opt for tubs with separate clotted cream to customize their treat. While they only offer vanilla, the quality makes it worthwhile. Previously, the cash-only policy was inconvenient, but now they have a card machine for added convenience. This iconic spot is described as an institution and remains a must-visit in Cornwall.
Cute peculiar place only selling one old fashioned ice cream flavour: vanilla. Absolutely delish! Choose a chocolate flake or clotted cream. So good!

Lovely mid holiday treat of waffles and delicious ice cream! Good range of tasty flavours at a reasonable price. Team serving us were very lovely and friendly to our little ones, even when they took forever to choose what they wanted!
Callumno7 — Google review
Certainly lovely icecream but the shop in Copperhouse has a very small counter, it could do with a bigger counter with two people serving. I was in there today and it was a quiet a long queue going out into the street I nearly left but I stayed. Two people behind me left after a while and it is not summer holidays yet. It is a large area in there for people to eat their icecreams but has small area to queue and to get served which is very disappointing.
Sid P — Google review
We hired Mr B's vintage ice cream van for an event the day after our wedding and it was brilliant! Our guests absolutely loved it, the ice cream was delicious and Nikki who was serving and also planned the event wirh us is so incredibly helpful and lovely. We went to a tasting session earlier on in the year at one of the shops and that was a great experience too. There are so many flavours to choose from including dairy free/vegan options.
Roxanne G — Google review
We had a really great experience here recently. The ice creams were genuinely so creamy, and the texture was probably the best I've ever enjoyed. Plus their vegan range was really wonderful, with so many unique flavours to try! There was also a really kind staff member who not only gave us a wonderful service that day, who allowed us to try all the vegan flavours, and was just an overall friendly person. But they were also kind enough to offer me a glass of water to take my morning medication when they noticed I needed it- I'm disabled, and had forgotten my own water bottle, so I really did appriciate their kind help.

Lovely service here by the lady serving us. The ice cream was a good portion size and tasted nice, Wouldn’t of said the ice cream was anything out of the ordinary though. Although would of liked a clotted cream flavour which is one of my favourites. Mangia is a charming, family-run Italian bistro located in Falmouth. Despite its small size, this restaurant offers a delightful menu featuring classic Italian dishes prepared by Chef Valter Floris, known for his expertise in Italian baking. The bruschetta comes highly recommended. Guests praise the arancini and suggest opting for the homemade pasta over pizza. The tiramisu is described as a must-try dessert.
Starter & main. Good wine selection & excellent dessert/service. Summary: Arancini was great and tasted very clean, I.e. Oil had a neutral flavour. The brie inside worked very well. We ordered a few mains to share and likewise they were very nice. I would recommend the homemade/fresh pasta over pizza. Tiramisu for dessert is a MUST. Sure the ice-cream is good, but this is only the 2nd(maybe 3rd) tiramisu I've ever had in the UK that I would call excellent! The service was also excellent, with our group staying and chatting well after the meal. Detail on mains: I tried/shared two pizzas (1 Veg, 1 meat featuring nduja) and 3 pasta dishes (ragu, chicken & prawn pasta and mushroom tortellini) for me the mushroom was the winner (followed by chicken & prawn). It was very nicely done with flavoured oil (sage) & substantial/meaty mushrooms in the parcels (tasted like porcini Mushrooms). The pasta was also precisely cooked/delicious. Very enjoyable, grazie.

We had a lovely breakfast here with our family. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The coffee was excellent, just what we needed to start the day right. The staff were friendly and attentive. We truly enjoyed our experience and would happily come back. Highly recommended for a great breakfast spot!

Absolutely delicious breakfast! I had eggs Benny which is probably the best I’ve had! We also ordered a full small Cornish breakfast which again can’t fault, also asked if we wanted pouched egg or fried! That usually is never a option, the double espresso was to die for really top quality coffee 👌ill give it 5 stars 🌟 and it we will be our go to for future visits to Hayle.

Popped in on our way home to London as it's just near Hayle station. Everything was lovely. Staff were super friendly, the food was lovely, great cuppa and nice veggie options for my fellow travellers. We were all very pleased with our choices. Clean facilities and an unrushed atmosphere with a decent music selection in the background!

The seats were super comfortable, but a little tight in space. Food was absolutely amazing. The inside of the cafe is really cute and you get a view of the outside. I ordered a hot chocolate halfway through our meal and it took 10 minutes to finally get to me, which at that point the family were finishing up and getting ready to leave. Since it took so long, I would have appreciated being asked if I still wanted the drink as I had to spend money on something I didn't have time to finish up. Having said that, I want to reiterate that the food was delicious and I 100% still recommend eating at this place. This is just some constructive feedback to take on board :)

Couldn’t recommend enough, we travelled 7 hours down for a holiday and needed a good breakfast when we arrived and duckies did not disappoint! The service was brilliant, they couldn’t do enough for you and the food was unreal 😍 definitely visit if you can!!

My wife said this was her best breakfast in Cornwall, we have eaten out every day for the past 7 days at many amazing places but this place gets the gold star!, wonderful friendly service and super food, also love the artwork, one of those true gems you really do want to go back to!

Carnewas Tea Room, a family-owned establishment for over 40 years, is a must-visit when you're at Bedruthan Steps. The freshly made scones served with locally produced clotted cream and jam are simply amazing. It's conveniently located at the National Trust Site, offering a variety of options from light lunches to more substantial meals at reasonable prices. The cafe boasts stunning views of the Cornwall coast and is an ideal stop after a walk along the cliff tops.
After a walk along the cliffs, where the views are simply breathtaking, it's well worth stopping by Carnewas Tea Room for a cream tea. The team does their best to serve their homemade dishes as quickly as possible and always with a smile. The menu may not be extensive, but everything is delicious. The cream tea in particular is superb – absolutely delicious! Highly recommended for a cozy and tasty break with stunning scenery all around.

Cosy tea room with inside and outside seating. Cream teas are amazing but today we had coffee and walnut cake for a change, also amazing so what do we have the next time we are here? National Trust car parking and well kept toilets also here, but for the more adventurous you can use the South West coast path. Always on our must do list when in the area.

Lovely little tearoom with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are brilliant. We had a cream tea; the scones were fresh and warm and they were really generous with the toppings - no tiny plastic-wrapped portions here! The car park is big and there are toilets. There are a couple of nice, easy walks with incredible views.

Delicious sausage sandwich and toasties. Scones had sold out but not your fault. It was absolutely rammed today but you were quick to serve and your young staffed team cracked on with a smile. Thanks ☺️

The Barley Sheaf at Gorran is a traditional village pub in Cornwall, run by chef Tim Kendall who trained under renowned chefs. The pub offers a seasonal menu and is known for its fish and chips on Fridays, available for dine-in or take away. The cozy atmosphere includes a log fire and a well-stocked bar. Visitors can expect exceptional food, friendly staff, and a great beer garden.
As a vegan, I'm always nervous going to restaurants without vegan food on the menu but we called ahead and were told the chef would come up with options for me, and oh boy did he!! I was absolutely blown away, I've never experienced that level of care from a chef and he and his food by far exceeded our expectations. Thank you Dan!! That staff were all also really helpful and friendly, very attentive without being overbearing. I'm sorry I didn't get any of your names but thanks all!! A really special birthday dinner.

Spent the morning at Heligan gardens and we popped here for lunch. So glad we did! We sat in the beer garden with our dog which was lovely and peaceful. The food was delicious, and incredible value! We had pretzel bread to start with pastrami butter - not had bread like this before, truly delicious. I had catch of the day for main, and my husband had the burger - both super fresh and delicious. Then for pudding I had pavlova and my husband had what he said was the best frangipane he’s ever had. It was crammed full of rhubarb and so tasty. Service was attentive and quick, and the waitress was lovely. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back the next time we’re in Cornwall, couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Well worth a trip. Michelin quality food and service in a relaxed atmosphere. Head Chef Dan was on hand to talk us through the menu and even gave us some extra sides that we loved. Can't recommend this place enough

It's not a bad pub and worth the short walk from Treveague Campsite. The fine dining menu seems impressive. The lamb dish I ordered was nearly very good. The lamb itself was very tasty but all the accompaniments were underwhelming. The cauliflower puree didn't have much flavour and the rosti was really greasy. Such a shame because it could have been a really great dish. The burger had too much sauce. The kids menu is for very young children (7 and under). This makes it tricky when the mains are around £25 fine dining type dishes or a full sized pub meal.
Fzl R — Google review
Fully booked for food when we arrived but the friendly staff managed to slot us in. Started with a warm foccacia with salted butter which was lovely. For main, I had sausages and mash and the hubby had burger and fries and we both thought that our dishes were awesome. Unfortunately too full for pudding but means we will have to go back again!

Absolutely fantastic and definitely recommended. Don't be concerned that the food or the place looks too fancy. The staff were really welcoming and there's a great mix of tourists and locals. The dippy scotch egg is the best I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of scotch eggs!!! If you're in the area, find time to visit.

We were pleasantly surprised with this little gem tucked away between Hayle and St Ives. Awesome interesting Mediterranean food! Had lunch there on our way home from the long weekend away. The shop, which is an extension to the restaurant has amazing wines and quirky products that foodies love. Definitely recommended and will come back when in the area again. The service was always attentive and on time.

I went on Saturday to the wine shop to buy a bottle of wine I drank at lunch at the old forge. The man in the shop was so miserable. He used to work as a waiter previously and I recognised him. He was changing the prices on the wine from the recent VAT increase on 1.08. All wine was going up a £1 he explained. He hadn't got to change the price label on the wine I wanted but refused to sell it to me at the lower advertised price despite me pointing out it was my customer right. He was so miserable and unpleasant I nearly walked out. However I paid the new price knowing I was entitled to the old price and as a matter of principal wanted to share my experience.
Hilary B — Google review
A wonderful surprise after a delightful meal at The Old Forge next door. There was a good range of wines from around the world at reasonable prices compared to other businesses in the area. Managed to find my wife a bottle of wine which she had wanted for ages but was almost always unavailable elsewhere. Have returned a few time since and always happy with service and products

Right off the Beaton track, an exclusive feel, great in the heat, loads of great wines. Blink and you’ll miss it, see it and you’ll definitely go there again!

Lovely little niche boutique sampling some great wines from Europe, charcutterie, cheese and craft beer. It also has a small eating section where you can get some of the products made into pizzas and sharing dishes. Some great flavors of course, but I must admit I was hoping for a more bistro inspired menu with main some more exciting main courses. The children menu is mediocre. A great lunch and breakfast place though, and a lot of potential in these walls.

This takeaway restaurant in Newquay offers some of the best fish and chips in Cornwall. The batter remains a strictly secret family recipe and the prices are very affordable, making it a popular choice for travellers and local regulars. You can enjoy your meal either inside or out with beautiful views of the ocean.
Fabulous fish and chips to take away or sit inside which we did. The medium cod special was large and delicious. Fresh white cod in a light crispy batter and lovely big chips. Lots of curry sauce and mushy peas too and a nice hot cup of tea
Dianne P — Google review
I’m not usually a massive fan of fish and chips but decided to give this place a try based on reviews from Google and TripAdvisor. I have to say, it was very good. We had the fish special which was a medium sized battered cod, chips and curry sauce, priced at £11.50 (dining in). The fish was fresh and the batter crispy, very well cooked. The chips were slightly over-cooked (not a big issue, personal preference) and the curry sauce was thick and had taste and flavour unlike some places. The dining in experience all gives you excellent views of the beach and the service from the waitress was excellent. All in all, very pleased. Would recommend.

I called in at The Cod End to sample their fish and chips, and I was not disappointed. I had the Cod, Chips and Peas special with a lovely glass of wine. The batter on the Cod was crispy, the fish just flaked apart, the chips were lovely and the peas were lush. Great service and a beautiful view. Highly recommended.

We came in on Friday evening just expecting a takeaway chippy but the view was sensational watchign the sunset, the dine-in area was very clean and the staff were absolutely lovely and ensured we had everything we needed. The portion sizes were immense, I had scampi, chips and salad, my partner had the pinwheel burger and we split a bowl of calamari. This was incredibly fresh fish, served up hot and crispy, we struggled to finish it all and the staff were so polite as we left. I cannot recommend here enough, the staff are caring, the food is brilliant and the view is one like no other!

Food did take a few minutes but was mostly worth the wait and price. Fried Chicken burger was a lil dry and could have been better then the Tesco Southern Fried Chicken pieces they used. But the chips were great and so was the other meals we ordered . Burgers are large Chips are a good portion size Kebab meat was fresh and tasty .

I have never given a review like this before I always like to be positive someone's business but I could not find anything here

Epic. I must visit when in looe Food was tasty portions size are huge. Personally a kids portion would feed an adult. We visited twice over the week holiday. Fish was fresh and decent. I had a kids portion, partner got the large fish which he said wasn’t that great and over cooked. We went back and had cheesy chips and onion rings they were amazing.

May I have some tap water?" "uhhhhh, okay...?" Smashing first impression, but nevermind, the food may be good. turns out it wasn't. There was practically no fish, but grand if you enjoy a bunch of sggy batter. The fish was tasteless and the chips were average. I wouldn't bother, just bring a sandwich and enjoy it by the water. speaking of tap water, it was warm and they barely filled it.

Good quality fish and chips. We had Hake and chips with Tartare sauce. Fish was lovely and crispy, chips were pretty good and Tartare sauce delicious. Only slight down side was that two items we ordered first (Plaice and Squid) were both off, but perhaps this was seasonal supply related. That said what we had was very nice, and there is seating outside next to the harbour.

We stumbled across this restaurant and they were fully booked, luckily a lovely couple were leaving and were sat at the bar and offered us their seats, so we were able to eat here!! The food was sooo good, hot and fresh, I had the steak pizza and my husband had lasagne and garlic bread along with a creme brûlée. The prices were very reasonable considering the standard of food and service we received. Would like to say thank you to Aaron for providing us with such good service and chat throughout our visit. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, but make a booking!!

Found this amazing place on socials and google and did NOT disappoint one bit! Firstly, food was incredible! One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to, easily my top 3. Portion sizes were perfect, flavours were divine. Garlic pizza bread was delicious, perfect amount of tomato sauce, perfect amount of garlic and the bread was just incredible. The Cajun chicken tagliatelle and spaghetti bolognaise was delicious. Just the right amount of tomato sauce and the flavours were on point. Side of chips and cheesy garlic bread with their house garlic mayonnaise were spot on. Lastly, the tiramisu was the perfect way to end the night off. “Traditional recipe” is the description they used and through every bite you can definitely taste the “tradition”. Service was great, could not fault a single thing. We were taken well care of and staff were very polite and respectful. Overall it’s decently priced and well worth the money. Definitely recommend, it’s a must try. We will definitely be back no doubt!

Booking is a must online as the restaurant is small and popular. We had a warm welcome and lovely meal. Giant olives were delicious along with the huge dough balls which my son loved. Sea food linguine was lovely and the pizzas too. It was very warm in the restaurant and uncomfortable, maybe get some fans in. Toilets sinks need scrubbing, we eat at 5.15pm and they opening not long. This place is popular with families why make the menu into a colouring sheet, also the kids meals don't come with a drink which is disappointing. Instead we paid an extra £4 for a lemonade. All in all a lovely meal out, highly recommend!

We came across this restaurant by chance, on the first night of our holiday and had such a wonderful meal, that we quickly re-booked for another night. Super friendly staff who all work so hard, to make everything such a great experience for everyone. Monique was our waitress on our fist night and was very attentive in taking our order and making sure our food was OK once it arrived. Needless to say, the food was absolutely outstanding, very reasonably priced and we only wished we lived closer, as we would be eating there every week! Thank you for 2 wonderful evening meals and to all the staff, who work so hard to deliver such wonderful service and delicious fresh food. We look forward to our return, when we next visit the UK again.

This place is a bit tucked away, you could easily walk past it and not see it. Googled 'places to eat in st.ives' while I was visiting September 25, walked in on a chance without a booking. It was really busy, asked about availability and was fitted in for 8.45 by a hostess I thought was a little rude. Went and got drinks and came back at our designated time. What a treat it was!. Food was delicious, service was fantastic. Started with bread with oil and balsamic... Fabulous. Prawns to start that came with more bread... That was on me but it was demolished anyway. For main I had the lasagne which was so fresh and delicious. If I visit again I will definitely be ordering the spicy meatballs because someone at an adjacent table had it and it looked delicious. The aesthetic is intimate and personal, the lighting low, the music soft, the service timely enough not to feel rushed but your not waiting too long. The hostess who I thought I was rude?, turned out to be so nice and personal... We just caught her in a mad moment because it was busy. She gave us so much information about where we planned to visit and move on to, what to see, where to go, the hidden treasures and we ended up having a laugh with her... These are the places I like to eat at, service but social. Thoroughly recommend for great food, great service with the personal touch. Will definitely visit again but book ahead of time because it's popular.

Not a very good experience. Drink came room temperature and the chips were very soggy and pale. The way our food was put in the bag wasn’t good either. Most boxes on its side and curry sauce was leaking. Shame as this used to be one of my favourite chip shops in town.

Popped in for take away, the reateraunt is up stairs. I was served by a young girl behind the counter who clearly didn't want to serve me or be at work, the guy with shades on seemed a bit more attentive Food: didn't think much of it at all, and the seven other people that were with me wouldn't visit again or rate the food. The owner needs to take a look at his team running the show.

Chips £3.35 and pea fritter £2.75 were OK. I was a bit disappointed with the very mushy peas as it was puréed like baby food. Staff seemed bored, leaning on the counter yawning away looking down the steps like she didn’t want to be there.

Tucked away in the picturesque town of Padstow, Chip Ahoy is a delightful spot that every fish and chips lover should seek out. As you step inside, the enticing scent of freshly fried fish and crispy golden fries envelops you, promising a treat for your taste buds.
Really friendly guy on the counter taking the order it was a Saturday night and very busy but our 3 meals were served quickly and a proper portion of fish and chips really tasty
X R — Google review
This evening I had the most abysmal dissapointing fish and chips experience I've ever had. To start with I've been visiting this chip shop for as long as I can remember. I'm in my 30s now and have been visiting Padstow for 30 years, almost all of my memory's of Padstow include a visit to Chip Ahoy. I'd guess I've been coming here for over 20 years. In all my visits to this chip shop I can't recall a particularly bad experience which is why I'm giving it a 2 star instead of a 1 star it would get based off this evening. My partner always wants to go to Rip off Rick's and I usually find it's an over priced underwhelming experience. Never terrible but always average and I'd rather support local family businesses like Chip Ahoy. Today I wish I would have gone to Rip off Rick's and got a meal that was actually edible. To start with the missus ordered over the phone 2 fish and 2 chips with 2 curry's and a mushy peas. We went and collected and headed down to the harbour wall to enjoy. Only we didn't enjoy because as soon as we opened the bag we realised there was a fish and chips missing. Whilst looking at the 1 portion of fish and chips i decided I'd rather not go back for another because what was presented to us looked dreadful. The fish was the worst excuse of a thing I've ever seen. It was 70% batter. The batter was greasy, and rock solid. The tiny piece of fish under the brown concrete exterior was dry and overcooked. Thankfully it was about the size of a sardine so our suffering wasn't prolonged. The chips were absolutely terrible. They were not particularly flavoured, had no salt and vinegar and had less life in them than my late Nan (former Mayor of Truro) and she's been dead about 15 years. The curry sauces were okay, actually better than Rick's and a much better portion. However I'm not sure why the person packing didn't question why we would need 2 big pots of sauce for 1 portion of fish and chips. Personally I would have clarified if we had ordered 1 or 2 fish and chips. The mushy peas were the best thing out of the bunch and even they were a 7/10. The fish was so bad I threw some of the batter on the floor to a nearby bird. The batter bounced about 17 times and the bird had a nibble and left it 🤣 So with that being said it appears Padstow has no good fish and chips shop which is a real shame with it being a Cornish harbour town. You'd think there would be an abundance of high quality chippy's with beautiful fresh fish. You've got Rip off Rick's which is decent-ish but terrible value for money. Then Chip Ahoy which has just served me the most pathetic fish and chips meal of all time Then some other place that's rated 2.1 star on Google. Glad I got a tuna sandwich from Tesco on my drive home to fill the void. I think the sandwich had more fish on it than my serving from Chip Ahoy and it was certainly moister and more enjoyable to eat.

Just had a half fish and chips and although the fish was beautiful and freshly cooked the chips were absolutely awful. They had clearly been out for hours and were dried up and brown and really hard to swallow. The “home made” mushy peas were also really dry and a big disappointment. We’ve eaten here every time we’ve come to Padstow and the food is usually amazing so we’re bitterly disappointed New ownership perhaps? Must try harder if you’re to keep your loyal customers!!!

We stopped here for some food just after visiting the town and a trip to the beach. We managed to get a seat under the canopy which was very lucky as it had just started raining. We had to wait a little while for our food order to be done, which I thought was a little odd as it was only a couple of battered sausages, and half fish and chips. Although the wait did not disappoint as the food tasted amazing. I would like to admit that the battered sausage is probably one of the best ones I’ve ever had. Chips were great too.

Really nice tradition chippy. Busy but worth it. Minimal seating outside so we went down to the harbour to eat with a view. Small venue I would say it wasn’t disability friendly as there is a small lip to get in and not a big space.

Really disappointed, took over half an hour to get our order, ordered a large chips (£7) scampi and fish, the chips were nowhere near a large, didn’t even fill the box they came in. The scampi was soggy too and undercooked. Took the kids to the one on the harbour front for lunch and that was so much better, would definitely recommend that one over this one! Undercooked and massively overpriced even for a sea front location

Average chips barley any salt and vinegar despite asking for it just waved the salt shaker around the area for a split second. Fish batter very oily and really not very tasty at all, Cod tasteless probably frozen. Battered sausage rock hard batter inedible probably sat around as nothing cooked fresh just sat waiting to be purchased. Really cannot recommend especially as a opposite fishing boats not sure if any others would have been any better even Rick Steins place isn't all that AVOID

Reasonable quality chips but I ordered a cone for £3.75 (not actually a cone) and got an incredibly small portion - really bad value for money. On the upside, the staff were friendly and were working hard to manage the large queue. Friends got the regular chips which seemed much better value for an extra 75p.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Nestled in a charming coastal area, the Blue Lagoon is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious fish and chips. This eatery has garnered attention for its perfectly cooked cod, encased in a light, crispy batter that melts in your mouth. The accompanying thick-cut chips and mushy peas complement the dish beautifully, making it an unforgettable experience.
I can't recommend this place highly enough, best cod I have ever tasted in my life, with a batter thats crisp but melts in your mouth. The chips and mushy peas enhanced the fish beautifully. The lady who served us was extremely friendly and polite, as was the guy assisting her. I would definitely go here again. Thank you.

Paid £14 for fish and chips 💷 — London prices, but nowhere near London quality ❌. Also got children’s chicken nuggets 🍗, and both dishes were far too oily 🛢️. Sauces cost extra 🥫, which felt cheeky given the prices. No proper indoor seating 🪑, and rubbish had to be taken to a council bin across the road 🚮. Didn’t see any locals eating there, which should have been a warning sign 🚫👀. As visitors to the area, we got caught out 🤦‍♂️.

We stopped for some chips while out walking, but they didn’t live up to expectations. At £4.50, I had hoped for hot and fresh chips, but they arrived dry, hard, and only just warm. The entertainment also wasn’t quite to my taste. With some improvements, this could be a much better experience

We were having a discussion about the perfect fish and chips during the long drive to Cornwall. Half of us were standing firm on the "french fries" side of the chip debate and I was holding forth that a correctly cooked traditional thick chip, not soggy but perfectly crisp, with a texture that brings out the flavour of the potato is on a completely different level of quality. After our sharing of a fish and chips from Blue Lagoon the argument was settled. The chips are perfect and the fish is exquisitely battered in a way which brings up memories of Japanese tempura. They also provide a top notch crab sandwich and sell reasonably priced wines and beers by the bottle and can.

Really good fish and chips, especially the fish. Took about ten minutes after ordering before it was ready which was fine, we knew it was freshly cooked. Will certainly be back.

Nice food but a bit overcooked. Service very good, staff friendly and efficient. Prices extremely high. £12.50 for cod and chips. We live in a seaside town and get better portions for £7.99 so felt a bit ripped off. Outside seating available, watch out for the seagulls.

Start with the good comment: the chips tasted lovely and the food was alright overall. Slow service took over half hour to get some chips and ridiculously expensive The worst thing I saw was litter being chucked by the owner over the sea wall twice. Their bin was too full so they just decided to chuck it over.. no wonder rats were climbing the rocks down there. Not impressed. Respect your beautiful environment !!

I wonder if the owner reads the reviews on here and bothers? As someone else said, probably not, they've got a captive audience (as we were) and don't need to bother. A pity, the food and service could be so much better.. We were walking the South West Coast Path and stopped by for lunch (sitting in, although the food was still served in cardboard boxes as if we were takeaway customers- we were told to dump everything in the Council bins on the street opposite when we'd finished!) Crab sandwiches x2 on nice thick granary bread which was sadly a bit stale (certainly not fresh that day).. there was then not quite enough best quality Crab in them to justify the £14 each and one sachet each of Heinz mayo. The box of chips, like everyone else has said, were really really poor. Soggy, reheated and really poor quality. They'd get a 1 star on their own. The owner, Mary sadly had the same kinda attitude as the chips. We tried our best and just about got her to engage.. Like I said, hopefully you'll get to read this, up the game and see the benefits of people coming in especially.
