Mallard Cottage is such a quaint and charming spot with a rotating daily menu that focuses on quality over quantity. I went with the pork chops while my wife had the fish (tilapia, I believe) — both were absolutely delicious! Some people might be thrown off by the smaller menu (like the table next to us), but don’t let that discourage you — there’s always a burger option if nothing else appeals that day. They’ve also got some great local beer options, thanks to being right near Quidi Vidi Brewery, and the service here was warm and friendly. If you’re looking for a cozy dining experience with fresh, rotating dishes, Mallard Cottage is well worth a stop!

Disappointing Evening We were really looking forward to the meal, but were disappointed. The restaurant is very lovingly and invitingly decorated. The open kitchen and the bar area fit well into the concept. When we visited, the restaurant was practically empty and the restaurant staff talked more to each other than to the guests. There was also no catch of the day and no mussels available. The presentation of the dishes was minimalist and we had to add more salt to all of the dishes because salt apparently isn't used in the kitchen. The batter on the cod tongues was soft and there was no truffle to taste or see in the truffle gnocchi. We ordered three short ribs. All three portions were different sizes. When I asked, I was told that that's just the way it is.

We had a great time and enjoyed our meal. Definitely not a place you should go and rush through. We had the Brussel sprout salad and it was amazing! My cod was very fresh and the drinks were delicious. Service was great! By the end of the night we had two servers and the chef at our table talking and giving us recommendations where to go on our trip. I think it is worth a stop while visiting St. John’s.

We had a TRULY incredible experience at Mallard Cottage! I am vegan, and the chef was so accommodating - he made me an incredible appetizer with a parsnip puree that I will surely dream of. The waitress so was kind, the service was wonderful, and the ginger mocktail was delicious! My friend who is not vegan said the fish of the day dish was the best thing she has ever eaten. We will definitely be back.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in St. John’s! The service was warm and friendly, willing to give recommendations and attentive. The food was excellent and their drinks were strong and delicious. The restaurant atmosphere was beautiful, cozy and welcoming. Definitely will come back soon!

This is constantly rated as one of the best restaurants in Newfoundland so I had to come try it out. Situated in a historic building inhabited by the Mallard family for over a century, the decor is very rustic and cozy. The service was very professional. We came in mid-May (during tourist off-season) and the place was packed, so I would recommend making reservations in advance. The dishes change daily based on what's in stock; I personally really liked their bread and their refreshing lobster salad. They also have a special menu that's prone to selling out quickly so I would recommend ordering from that menu first, before you order from the main menu. The flavours were decent and the price (and portions) feel in-between fine and casual dining.

Busy time is 6:30 to 7 Great locally sourced fare, fresh fish ( COD THE DAY WE WERE THERE) oysters, with my team enjoying a warm beet salad and the chicken...with shared accompaniments of potatoes and Brussel sprouts Yum yum! Atmosphere, service, food... you need to go here!

A pleasant surprise & a treat to one’s palette. Variety of Asian fusion flavours bursting in the mouth, which makes it unique from the rest of the surrounding restaurants. Great quality & selection of Oysters & the spicy tuna sticky rice, kobe beef lettuce wrap & korean fried chicken is a must to try. The afternoon non alcoholic drinks are amazing as well to relax. A fabulous team of bar tenders, waitresses always smiling, interactive & engage well. Overall a pleasant experience twice in a row will bring us back for the third time in just 7days trip. If you are around Water Street, St. Johns you must swing by & try the mouth watering delights. I’m from Toronto and LOVE East Coast oysters, and Adelaide Oyster House did not disappoint! My first visit was Sunday afternoon (Aug 3) while on vacation for my friend’s 50th. I ordered a dozen, which happened to be PEI Lucky Limes and they were incredibly fresh, plump, briny, and delicious. Loved the blueberry habanero sauce, lemon wedges, perfect mignonette, and especially the freshly shaved horseradish. I was impressed watching the shucker smell each oyster to ensure freshness, such a great touch! My second visit was Sat evening (Aug 23) when I returned to NL for a funeral. I brought my sister (she prefers smaller oysters; I love the plump ones). This time they were a mix of PEI, NB, and NL – tasty, though not quite as plump and missing the shaved horseradish from my first visit. I get oyster sizes vary, but I’d love more consistency with the condiments. That said, both visits were fantastic overall. Great vibes – chill on Sunday afternoon, lively and fun Saturday night. The kimchi oyster Caesar is a must-try! Service was excellent both times, even when it was packed. Thanks for two memorable visits – I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Food here is delicious. Went twice. Sat outside as weather was good. Our servers were super helpful and friendly. Lobster roll was delicious, and so were the Cod fish tacos. Made a nice Caesar too (Canadian Bloody Mary). RECOMMEND.

The serving staff made a series of good choices not just for the food but also for the local beer. I couldn't understand why they kept on turning the lights down. Seriously guys, that's so old-fashioned. Anyone would think you are trying to save electricity on your energy-saving light bulbs.

Had my very first oyster today!! Which then lead to 18 more because it was SO GOOD! The atmosphere is awesome and so are the fine folks working here. Cannot wait to come back! I recommend their Kimchi Oyster Caesar and Shuckers Special 🥰✨

On a solitary trip to NFLD, it was only appropriate that I treat myself. Chinched was an amazing experience. From the Absinthe based cocktail, the Corpse Reviver, to the Atlantic Oysters. The charred carrots were good, and presented beautifully, but I found them in need of a bit of acid. The gentleman behind the bar microplaned a lemon in under a minute and had it ready for me instantly. The service while sitting at the bar was top notch Being that I was dining alone, light hearted conversation was welcome, and he was very forty coming with what was on the menu, where it came from, and what to expect. Great experience. Food was great. Service was stellar.

Reserved a spot at the bar as I was traveling solo. Danny and everyone else at Chinched made me feel welcome from the second I walked in! I had a custom mocktail, which started the experience off right. I’m pescatarian so I ignored the recommended charcuterie and pigs ears, but hear they are delicious. I settled on Lobster, poached and served cold with leche de Tigre sauce. Amazing! By far best lobster dish I’ve ever tasted. Also had the beets and pears, which was superbly prepared. I didn’t leave room for dessert, but had some anyway. Glad I did. Although the food was amazing, the overall experience of dining here was even better. Danny made me feel so welcome. He suggested other great restaurants and experiences in St John’s. Sadly it was my last evening there, so I’ll have to go back! I would highly recommend this place!

We walked past this restaurant so many times on our way downtown but never stopped in until it was recommended to us as one of the better restaurants in St. John’s. We are very glad we came! The ambiance upstairs is nice enough, but we eventually moved downstairs and ate at the bar which we enjoyed much better. The staff was very friendly, and the food and cocktails we had were fantastic. We started with a charcuterie board, which is one of their specialties (they also seemed to have a storefront that sold meats). We then had some curried fish cakes which were excellent and spent the rest of the evening sipping cocktails and nibbling on fried pig ears in buffalo sauce (don’t let the name scare you, these are FANTASTIC). Highly recommended and should be a priority for any trip to St. John’s

We got a reservation here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised with the food and cozy atmosphere. The charcuterie board is a must get and they even have a small storefront inside which sells the meats and cheeses individually. I did find the cod too be on the saltier side, though.

Had a nice dinner experience at chinched! The staff was very friendly and welcoming and seem to enjoy what they do. The food was so so for me, got try the local oyster, the merasheen bay oysters with house hot sauce which were food, the cod dumplings were ok and the tuna putanesca ok, excellent risotto but unfortunately the tuna was quite salty.

Ouuuu baby was this restaurant good! We got the Lamb chop, cavatelli with mussels and cod dumplings, all of which were fantastic. The dumplings might have been the best $18 I’ve ever spent. The cheesecake for dinner was solid. Ambiance was great and the service was top notch. I’ll be back if I’m ever in the city.

Great food, friendly staff, nice ambiance. We had candied walnuts, the boards (combo), grilled charcuterie platter, herb roasted beets, and cheesecake as the final touch. All were excellent. The charcuterie for both the boards and the grilled platter were outstanding. The selections of cheese fit my taste buds very well. Just love the place. There were parking spots but unlikely to handle all the guests. Fortunately we went on a Saturday and street parking spots were not too hard to find. The front entrance has several steps. Wheelchair customers'd better check if there is another entrance.

The ambiance of the place is good with giant windows. It's very bright and clean. The fresh little flower vase was a nice touch. The food is alright. Although it's unique, it's a little bit pricey. I liked the Mimosas here. Tried the soft shell moose tacos and breakfast on the bun with potatoes and salad. The dessert was delicious. The covid protocols are being practiced and the tables spread apart.

We came here for lunch and ordered the frittata with the side of the daily soup and fried cod cakes with the side of potato wedges. The food was lovely, filling, and not greasy at all. The fried cod cakes were absolutely delicious!

I'm gonna give an objective review since I'm not from NL and because I've only been there once. The cafe in itself is cute with a warm ambiance. First I was disappointed because I expected them to offer a variety of coffee like espresso but they only have regular filter coffee which isn't bad. Then, the service wasn't bad, but it was kinda strange.. From what I could grasp, I think employees there are being rehabilitated to society by being offered a job at this cafe by the church. Please, tell me if I'm wrong. I think it's great! More places should do this. But like I said it was kinda strange.. I think one of the server didn't like my boyfriend and he was giving him weird intense looks. I had to point it out. Then, the food was good. I had the applebutter grilled cheese. But the portion is too small for the price. I can't give a better rating because of these reasons. I'm still glad I tried it.

This teeny café is delightful. It’s not cramped, there is no uncomfortable banquette seating (thank the gods!) and it’s open and sunny in the morning. The server was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious (we both had the hearty breakfast with sausage) and we were tempted by dessert afterwards but couldn’t have fit it in! We will definitely return though.

My mom and I really enjoyed our experience. We ate a delicious seasonal meal and finished with some yummy desserts. Glad to have found a place that serves great food and also does good work in the community.

This place has beer AND coffee. Repeat, good beer AND good coffee. Plus the breakfast wrap was 'wholesome' good, not like a 'so-greasy-feel-like-have-to-walk-it-off-after' type one. To top it off, the choc chip cookie was so soft and tasty that you knew it had been baked that day. High praise to the different spaces too - traditional cafe seating, with high tops and couches, every setting covered 👌

While I was visiting St. John’s I went to quite a few local craft brewery locations and taste some others in restaurants. Bannerman Brewing Co. is by far my favourite. You will see in my photos that they have a beer for every palette. I’m an East Coast IPA fan, my server brilliantly led me to the right choices. I was happy with both. I also had two delicious beef tacos. I’d say they were a cut above bar food and better than I’d had in the city until then. I’d like to add that based on wonderful aromas wafting from my neighbours table there are other delights to eat. It was a Monday evening so I was lucky to hear a set of acoustic and vocal music by a band with a lot of talent. I was blown away by them. The space itself is very warm and inviting and the service spot on. I was also happy to see that they are Rainbow friendly!

Great spot to unwind after exploring downtown St. John’s. Located at the end of the street, this cozy brewery offers a wide selection of local beers and light snacks — perfect for a casual break. While it’s not the best place for a full dinner, it’s definitely worth a visit for drinks and a relaxed atmosphere.

Great beer I had the back pocket vienna lager 6%. Service was lovely...larger open patio and huge space! Its accessible so people in mobile devices can enter and the washer is accessible!!

This was the first thing my fiancé and I did when we landed in St. John's. Amazing vibe and even more amazing drinks!! You can't go wrong with any of them. We loved this place so much that we came back later on in the night for more beer!

The food menu, featuring Thai-inspired dishes such as drunken noodles and peanut-crusted chicken wings, complements the brews perfectly . Service is consistently excellent, and the overall vibe is lively yet relaxed. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Bannerman Brewing delivers a memorable craft beer experience.

Visited twice in two days. Great spot to visit with friends. Coffee cafe/brewery combo was great for us. Excellent cortado, cappuccino and drip coffee. Menu is small. Burger and fish and chips were also very good. The babaghanoush was okay not great and same with the watermelon salad. Beer and cider was very good. Overall we really enjoyed our time at Bannermans.

They make an exceptional matcha latte using premium matcha and Ashlyn accommodated my request for oat milk! She was even helping me when she just arrived for her shift. That's exceptional customer service! 🙌

We had to wait for the truck to come in with the food we should’ve known better does that means fish cakes were made elsewhere? Well we had them; they were microwave hot with that characteristic steamy soft texture. They were very salty not edible. The cinnamon bun had the appearance of a Tim Hortons apple fritter. It seemed to be a baking powder /baking soda and not yeast base; not a lot of flavour. lThe cheese onion scone was not crisp but at least it was edible.

Excellent coffee and pastries! I recommend the cold brew coffee. At the time they were using beans from Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters.

Down the steps; nearly always a queue - BUT worth it. Great atmosphere and great servers. Have Premier league football matches on multiple screens. Had the Newfoundland special of Fish and chips with a side of gravy and dressing (which is how locals eat their fish+chips Chips). I was skeptical but it was really good. RECOMMEND

I tried the fish and chips at The Duke of Duckworth in St. John’s, and it was a treat. I had fresh cod: one perfectly golden-fried and the other gently baked. The fried piece practically melted in my mouth, that wide-eyed moment of pure delight. The tartar sauce, possibly house-made, was far better than the usual kind I’ve had. I also got a side salad, which was fresh and crisp. Overall, the meal was fantastic, and the whole place gives off a cozy english pub vibe that made the experience even better.

It was a Saturday evening so tables were in high demand. I didn't realise how small the place was. I shared a table. The staff brought over a place setting, but never came back for my order. So I went to the bar instead and was served by a lovely lady. The fish and chips were as advertised - very good. So was the local beer.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. It’s light yet flavourful - definitely worth the hype. Decent portion size as well. I got gravy on the side (not pictured) which was good but I don’t think necessary as the fish is good on its own, or with tartar sauce+vinegar which comes free. They also take AMEX. I’d come back and will be recommending to friends and family! 😋

Great place! Went I walked in, I felt I walked in a pub in Europe. I had the pan fried fish & chip and it was delicious! Fish was well seasoned, tasty and perfectly cooked. Fries were also perfect. I accompanied my meal with black horse beer. Noah explained to me it is only brewed in NL. I remember the brand name from when I was a child and have not seen that beer for a very long time…. Noah came back after he served me to make sure everything was good.

Down a narrow street, The Duke Of Duckworth is an iconic St. Johns bar that has been around for a while now. The first thing you will notice is the ambience. Basically, its your standard small bar with tapered history all along the walls. I decided to order their fish and chips with dressing and gravy. The fish was super moist, flakey, and fresh. While the batter was melt in your mouth, seasoned well, and had an airiness to it. The fries were also fresh and tasted even better with the gravy. I always cover my fish and chips with malt vinegar and tartar sauce for extra acidity to cut the extreme savouriness of the fried foods. Overall, everything was quite nice. The only downsides are the pricing. The fish and chips and quite expensive in comparison to a lot of other spots in the area. If you are a tourist, its a worthwhile visit for sure.

A local favourite, and for good reason! This cozy spot has a fun atmosphere, great staff, and absolutely delicious food and beer. We both went with the fish & chips, and you can choose fried or baked — we went fried. Our server recommended upgrading the fries to Newfoundland style (bread crumbs and gravy on top), and wow… well worth it! The fish was super fresh and flavorful. For drinks, we tried the famous Iceberg beer from Quidi Vidi Brewery, brewed with 15,000-year-old iceberg water. While the concept is really cool and unique to Newfoundland, the beer itself was honestly a bit mid in my opinion. I’d recommend trying other brews from Quidi Vidi instead. Overall, we had a great time here — fresh food, cozy vibes, and a true local staple. Can definitely see why both tourists and locals love it!

In search of something different than pub food, we went to India Gate for vegetarian fare and were not disappointed. Mains don't come with rice, but a single order of rice plus plain naan was more than enough for our two dishes. Flavorful and a good amount of spice, plus friendly service made this a good dinner decision.

India Gate delivers a fantastic atmosphere — warm, stylish, and welcoming. The décor strikes a perfect balance between traditional Indian charm and modern comfort, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The food was rich in flavor with a solid variety of dishes, and the pricing was fair — offering good value without being overpriced. However, while the setting was excellent, the service left a bit to be desired. Staff were generally polite, but the overall attentiveness and responsiveness could use some improvement. One important point: tipping should never feel like an obligation. It should be a gesture of appreciation — given when the customer feels genuinely satisfied with the service. Moreover, the amount should be left entirely to the discretion of the customer, not presented as a fixed percentage. Good service earns a good tip, but it should be voluntary, not expected by default. In short, India Gate is definitely worth visiting for the food and ambiance. With some attention to service and a more respectful approach to tipping, it could easily become a top favorite.

One of our favorite restaurants in the city! The butter chicken is unbeatable and their willingness to always accommodate our lengthy list of allergies is always so appreciated! The service and food here is so amazing. Also appreciate that they don’t blare the music like so many places nowadays. Those with nut or gluten allergies, rejoice— you are welcomed here! They even accommodate a separate butter chicken without cashew!

Ordered a very simple thing to get some food for the road, samosas and spring rolls. Was told 5-10 minutes - waited for a half hour. Half the spring rolls were cold and soggy. The samosas are not like any samosa I’ve had with this strange overpowering seasoning salt that they coat the outside with. Sauce supplied wasn’t anything i have ever had at an Indian restaurant, strange mayo based dip, didn’t even use it more than once. Overall pretty rough, would not recommend, far from authentic Indian that’s for sure.

The tandoori chicken, laacha paratha, roti and butter chicken were very tasty. Best I have had in St John’s. Service and ambience is also great. I would go back again. I did not like dessert so much though. The saffron cake tasted like a normal tea cake and the gulab jamun was a bit rubbery. I’m okay with the 18% tip but don’t understand why it’s applied on the total bill including hst.

I ordered the dinner for 2. I do this so I can can have food for the next day. This is without a doubt THE best Indian food in Eastern Canada!! I have been eating Indian Gate food for almost 30 years, I think it keeps getting better all the time!!!

We enjoyed a pleasant dinner at India Gate. We ordered a tandoori plate and eggplant dish. The tandoori meats were tender and flavorful. The eggplant was equally well prepared. We also liked the cozy ambiance.

Rumoured to be the best place in town for fish and chips, but I came for the chips, dressing and gravy! This place is a step back into time. Old style diner type vibes. Plenty of indoor seating and a menu that pretty much revolves around a fryer. My chips, dressing and gravy was legit a comfort food dish I never knew I needed!!! Why is this only happening in Newfoundland?? Definitely worth a visit if you want to try a local favorite.

Cool place to dine in family, we arrive the whole family of 17 and we kindly ask if they could accommodate us, without blinking the lady opened the private area and staff cleaned the entire table for us to sit, such a proactive employee and nice people, she apologized for only having plastic glasses but we were completely happy and didn’t even pay attention to the glasses, food was served in a reasonable time , good very generous and everyone was happy, they divided the bill in 3 i have never seen that , they divided the entire bill like one fish and schips is like 12 bucks and we got each 4 bucks to pay, that was so smart and so easy to pay attention the counter. We gave a generous tip because they were very effective

An old style diner, has a nice atmosphere, lots of seating, and appeared clean. I ordered a two piece fish & chips, cod tongues and cheeks. The fish tasted fresh and had a fluffy, crispy, light tasting batter without seasoning. The cheeks and tongues were both tasty, the tongues were a bit slimy. In all, it was an average but good meal. The portion size for the meal was good and it was a decent price. They have a nice homemade vinegar. The Iceberg Beer was great, but I didn't get a glass with it. Our server, Tracy, was friendly and attentive. We had an enjoyable, relaxing dinner here.

Had the opportunity to dine at Ches’s after a bit of a longer day. Our group was warmly greeted by Ariel when we arrived. She was absolutely top-notch as a server. The Seafood platter was definitely top notch and hit the spot. Paired with a pint of Newfoundland‘s iceberg beers, it definitely was a memorable experience. If you are ever in St. John’s, I would definitely recommend giving a spot a try.

Solid fish and chips with crispy batter over very fresh cod, unseasoned. Fries were good but not as crunchy as I would like, gravy was delicious. Cod tongue app was just ok. I appreciate the homemade vinegar and seasoning options. Old diner vibe, waitress was friendly enough but could have smiled more. Excellent location and fast service.

I tried their Fish Fritters for the first time and I loved them! The staff was very friendly and they helped me pick the correct meal to meet my needs. I loved their spicy mayo sauce. I recommend this place.

Piatto Pizza was once my go-to spot for a delicious, authentic Neapolitan pizza, but unfortunately, it has fallen from grace. What used to be a delightful, well-crafted pizza is now a sloppy, wet mess. Over the past year and a half, I’ve given this place multiple chances—five visits in total—hoping they would get back to their former quality, but each time it’s been a disappointment. The pizza crust, which used to be perfectly crispy, now turns soggy within minutes, leaving the toppings in an oily, unappetizing heap that slides right off. The quality of the ingredients seems to have dropped as well. The pies are no longer that delicate balance of fresh, flavorful, and satisfying—they're simply a mess on a plate. The service has also taken a hit. On a few occasions, I’ve had rude and disengaged servers who seemed indifferent to the experience they were providing. For a place charging premium prices, this is unacceptable. I won’t be returning. Blaze Pizza, which is half the price, offers a far superior experience both in terms of taste and value. Piatto, you really need to do better.

Came here for lunch with a friend when I was visiting St Johns! We chose this location as the parking is easier! Service was fantastic, and the food was incredible. My friend and I both had pizzas! We shared the arancini as an app, which in my opinion could have had a bit more flavor!! I would highly recommend having a meal here!

Pizza pasta beer were great! Service A1 and a good relaxing vibe. Only negative would be the aranchini. They were small and not particularly tasty. I would go back!

What an incredible experience at Piatto Pizza on Elizabeth Street! Even though the restaurant was packed and the staff were running around to keep up, the energy in the room felt exciting rather than overwhelming. You could really see how much pride the team takes in their work — friendly faces, professional service, and genuine care for their guests. We did wait a little longer than expected, but honestly, the service and atmosphere more than made up for it. Mary was absolutely amazing — attentive, kind, and made us feel so well taken care of. Leah greeted us with such a warm and welcoming smile that set the tone for the night. Brett went above and beyond as a waiter, paying attention to every little detail and making sure we had everything we needed. And we can’t forget Johnny! And also watching prakash stretch dough right in front of us was like a show! We left feeling full, happy, and very grateful for such a memorable evening. I worked for an Italian company for seventeen years and regularly traveled to Italy for meetings. Piatto is the ONLY pizza I have eaten outside of Italy that is a faithful representation of true Neopolitan Pizza. They got it right, even down to the wood they use in the Italian made wood-fired ovens that run at about 480°C/900°F. The pizza may cost a few $$ more, but the ingredients are the real deal...no shortcuts or cheap substitutes. Menu options beyond pizza are solid. Quick, friendly service for a working lunch. The only thing they could improve on is their selection of "affordable" Italian red wines. Italians almost never eat pizza without a local wine...it enhances the experience and is truly cultural (but obviously a decent glass of wine in Italy costs about the same as a glass of Coca-Cola).

We came for dinner with a friend. The food was incredible, the drinks fantastic, and the service outstanding! Thank you Chase and head chef for the surprise dishes. Both the Tuna and Mussels were exceptional! And the cocktails….crafted to perfection. Thank you Delaney!

Wow, just wow! Terre completely exceeded my expectations — both the food and service were phenomenal. We went with the “let us cook for you” option, and every single dish was a masterpiece. This restaurant truly deserves a standing ovation.

This isn't the starter series. This is advanced dining. We ate the chef's menu which came with perhaps 6 starters/salads, 2 mains, and a dessert. I couldn't tell you what it all included because each dish was complex with various vegetables, herbs, spices and many included a protein. Delicious. The foods are fresh, seasonal and crafted with care. The service was patient, helpful and pleasant. I'd highly recommend.

Terre is an absolute must if you want an upscale dining experience. From the second you walk in, its interior decor is professional designed with fantastic attention to detail; the bar is beautiful. The service was excellent from the host’s greeting through till the end of the meal. The food was plated elegantly, and delicious. We savoured the snow crab, and the PEI oysters. My husband has been here many times, and says every dish is delightful. We also ordered cocktails which were also delicious. One was the mixologist’s take on a negroni, the other was a type of spicy margarita — both were savoured. Reserve in advance, because they are understandably in very high demand.

Jakob our server was warm, knowledgeable and efficient. His recommendations for wine, dessert and entree menu options were spot on. The ambiance of restaurant offers lovely view of harbours, contemporary and wonderful option for hotel guests.

I was visiting St. John’s Newfoundland and had a list of restaurants picked out to dine at and let me tell you this was the best of them all. I had fresh cod, their beer chicken was unlike any flavour I tried before and the service was impeccable, I highly recommend getting a cocktail too, our espresso martinis were delish!!

Highly recommend “let the kitchen cook for you” option. It was dish after dish of interesting flavors and with the freshest ingredients! The staff were also incredibly warm and friendly. Definitely an amazing experience!

Absolutely fabulous the reviews lived up to the hype. We were lucky to get a table so book a reservation. Chicken n pesto pizza was excellent. When there's nothing to take home you know it was good.

The best place in st John’s to have quality and most delicious pizza. Great options and delicious wine options. Do ask for Tim, very nice and hold good knowledge about the menu and wine. In the photo ignore the chilly flakes. (I love spicy). Must visit.

Honestly really impressed. The soup had way more flavour than I expected, super warm and comforting. Toast was perfectly crispy without being dry. The pizza was authentic in flavour and definitely so good I ordered a take home kit after, and it turned out great at home too. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere felt cozy but relaxed, will come back.

Went the other night and had the diavolo pizza which was extremely spicy. I usually love spicy pizzas but this one was too much and the spice overpowered all the other flavours of the pizza. The arancinis we ordered were okay, nothing more. The pasta was however, very good. Hoping to try a better pizza to my liking, I ordered the lunch special, margherita pizza and beet salad. The beet salad was great ! However, the pizza had a bitter taste to it which I didn’t enjoy. It might be the olive oil. I had high expectations for the pizza based off of all the reviews but I am unfortunately disappointed with them. I do recommend the pasta though. The service staff is also very kind which is a plus !

Service and atmosphere wasn’t bad, pizza was disappointing, decent char on top, but bottom of pizza was soft/white, undercooked. Tomato sauce was too wet, causing pizza to be soggy in centre, wasn’t enjoyable, the bottle of San Pellegrino was almost flat, taste identical to soda water served from fountain dispenser.

Being something of a pizza snob, I never pass up an opportunity to sample the pizza at a AVPN certified restaurant. I'm glad to report that Piatto didn't disappoint. The crust was the perfect combination of crispy and chewy; the ingredients fresh. Service was prompt and friendly, the atmosphere lively and boisterous. A wonderful experience overall.

This place was awesome. We unknowingly went on their anniversary and they gave us a free meatball appetizer, and it was delicious. My mushroom ravioli was he best I've ever had. We sat at the pizza bar and watched them make pizzas.

Visiting St. John’s for the first time.. was very happy to find this place. Tried the Newfoundland Benedict and Blueberry French toast which were both pretty good. I just wish there was actual maple syrup instead of table syrup. Will definitely come back.

We've been here twice, and both times the breakfasts were fantastic. Everything was delicious, and the portions were large. The sheer number of breakfast options is truly astounding. I recommend choosing your dish in advance, as you'll spend a lot of time perusing the menu. During peak hours, the restaurant gets completely full, so it's best to reserve a table—this place is truly worth a visit.

We visited **Bagel Café** on Duckworth Street and were delighted by the experience from start to finish. We ordered their *Big Hardy Breakfast – Perogies* (a breakfast plate with perogies, eggs, sour cream, bacon, peppers & onions, and toast) as our main, and added a side of fish cakes. We split the plates between us — which was the smart move, because we left completely full. The **portions are enormous** and very generous. The food itself was solid comfort fare — the perogies were hearty, the eggs cooked just right, and the side of fish cakes added a nice Newfoundland touch. Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what you want in a cozy breakfast spot. The atmosphere was warm and charming. We loved the **stained glass details** and the eclectic décor throughout the space. It gives the place character, and the cozy ambience makes it a fun spot to linger in while your food arrives. We did wait about **15 minutes** to get a table, but once seated, it became obvious why — the place has a steady flow of customers, and for good reason. The wait was well justified by the food and the experience. Overall, I **highly recommend** Bagel Café. If you go, come hungry — and don’t hesitate to share a plate or two. Great food, great vibe, and a must-visit for breakfast lovers in St. John’s.

Update: I came here again with my husband. I had a touton with molasses. Service was quicker and friendlier this time but the music is still really, really loud and the touton was really thin, dry and tasteless. I'm sure people love it here, but if you like a higher standard quality and taste, Bagel Cafe is not the place to come for it. The exterior, entrance and interior restaurant decor was eclectic and reminiscent of British/Irish pub style ambiance, with wooden and stone flooring, tables and booths and stained glass decor plus Tiffany style lamps. The restaurant was small, with booths and tables fairly close together but not so much as to feel crowded or uncomfortable. There was often a cold draft whenever patrons entered or exited due to the small size of the restaurant. The decor and lighting was subdued, ambiant and lovely; however, the music, although pleasant enough, was rather loud and at times made it difficult to hear my husband speaking which was somewhat annoying and uncomfortable. I had the Belgian Waffle (berry and banana) with bacon, a side of hashbrowns and a side of scrambled eggs and my husband had the Newfounland Benedict: 2 fish cakes, two eggs benedict, smoked salmon covered in hollandaise sauce with hashbrowns. For all I absaloutely loved the ambiance of the restaurant, the initial service was very slow (to take our order). The first waitress seemed rather irritated and unpleasant but the second waitress was very pleasant and accomodating. The food arrived more quickly than expected as well. I really, really hate giving these lovely little, local restaurants any negativity at all so I always focus on the positive first but the meal I had was very disappointing. The hashbrowns were really large potato cubes (bigger than I usually see as a hashbrown) and I'm unsure if they were cooked from frozen or not but they were not bad and there was a large quantity. The scrambled eggs were okay. There was no bacon at all (although it was supposed to come with my waffle). Unfortunately, the waffle itself was the most disappointing. It was very dry and crumbley (like it had been frozen and reheated in a microwave) and the berries were reheated from frozen and made the middle of the waffle soggy. The bananas were fresh. There was only cheap pancake (corn) syrup - no actual maple syrup - as well. My husbands meal, however was fantastic and delicious, aside from the hashbrowns. He also very much enjoyed the coffee. All in all, I would return again, but I will not go for the waffles, pancakes, French toast or toutons. I will most likely try a sandwich on my next visit. Hopefully it will be a better food experience.

We loved our breakfast here - had my first toutons ever, with my meal, which were delicious. The menu is staggering - so many options. We sat upstairs which I preferred, a bit quieter than the lower level. I would highly recommend this spot, we had a great experience - super friendly and helpful staff as well

Might be my new favourite breakfast place in my travels this summer. Love the eccentricity of everything inside this restaurant. The 80’s/90’s music playing was trippy. Serving staff were very pleasant, seating was quick. Food was fine. Ordered the Cabot Tower, not because I was heading back out onto the sea but because I could. Eyes were bigger than my stomach for sure, but didn’t care.

Bagel cafe. What’s there to really say? I kept waiting for someone to pop around the corner and tell me I’ve been punked. Me and my wife were visiting St. John’s from Toronto and we were told to go to this place a few times by the locals. Who am I to deny a good recommendation! The first red flag was when I saw a bottle of Pearl Milling company on the table. If that’s what we’re using for Maple Syrup then we’re in trouble. I ordered the french toast. Bland and stale. Bacon was alright but nothing to write home about. My wife ordered poached eggs bagel and fresh fruit with a small greek yogurt. I didn’t try it myself but she said it was mediocre. I will say the staff was super friendly and attentive so there’s that. But I cannot recommend Bagel Cafe.

No complaints- just a yummy and nicely crafted meals for vegans and vegetarians. A highly recommended spot in St. John's.

Excellent vegetarian and vegan food options. One of the only healthier restaurants we could find in St. John’s, which was a great break from pub food. Sandwiches were huge and bread was delicious. Highly recommend the maple tofu and the fresh lemonade!

First day in St.John's. As vegetarians, we were so happy to find such a cute & cozy spot with such healthy and flavourful food options. We had the soup of the day - butternut squash. Perfect on a cool October afternoon. We then had the Enchilada. Stuffed full of flavour. My only ask would have been to have an authentic, fresh, spicy salsa option. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are generous. The price for some of the add-on options are a little high, but otherwise the actual item prices are very reasonable.

Got some takeout, and staff were so helpful with helping to choose celiac-friendly options! Not only was the food great, but pricing was very reasonable. Would 100% eat there again.

Had the enchilada with refried beans and it was AMAZING - I was surprised I was able to eat the whole thing…and even more surprised I felt great after! Also so cutely decorated inside - love the vibes. Only reason for the missing stars on service / atmosphere are the prices weren’t posted on the blackboard (though they are on the menus at the table - just realized late), and some of the music was a little intense for my personal tastes haha. But would definitely come back - I have my eye on the curry, the Pad Thai, the teriyaki bowl or one of the sandwiches next. The super saiyan salad also looked delicious!

Some of the best vegan food I have ever eaten! They make their own cashew-based vegan cheese. Flavours of the marinated tofu sandwich are yum. Some flavour of umami and hummus. The tacos are made with a neat chewy skin... I've eaten something similar but I can't name it. It's way better than a traditional tortilla. The avocado taco was good. The CHKN taco was good too. Be careful with the buffalo sauce; it's got tang and heat.

i cant believe sprout poyos are real! this restaurant is a dream. there was a sprout stack taking my order, and a chef sprout poyo giving me my meal. i tipped one of the sprout poyos 10000$ before leaving. very nice experience, worth every penny

It was a fantastic experience again for 2nd time! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it perfect for a casual meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring felt right at home. The food Lomi Overload was delicious, with authentic Filipino flavors that truly impressed. Each one was cooked to perfection. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I can't wait to return!

TL;DR: RJ Pinoy Yum is a great place to have a full meal or a quick bite, try out the filipino cuisine and have a great experience altogether, in terms of both taste and service. When we ordered our food, we grossly underestimated the portion sizes they offered! This makes it a great value for money and also a good place for a group visit! We tried the Wonton Nachos, Lomi Overload, Mango Graham Shake and Pansit Canton. The milkshake felt like a breath of fresh, tropical air with the snow outside. We felt everything that was offered was fresh and generous. Seasoning was a bit on the lower side, but that's reasonable since you could adjust much of it later and leaves room for preferences. The Wonton Nachos was such a simple but savoury dish! Overall, I wouldn't say everything was mouthwateringly delicious, but fulfilling enough to go back time and again! The people here took great care of informing you about components of a dish that you could possibly have an issue with, offering replacements if possible. They were also very amiable and pleasantly concerned about your comfort and experience. The place looks minimal but pretty, with bold colours and gorgeous photos of their dishes. There's a board at the entrance where you could leave a note - that's a singular feature which would stand out to you in terms of aesthetics.

This was my first foray into Filipino food and I had a great experience. The portions here are moderate and the food tastes great. The spicy foods aren't over spiced as a tolerance test, but instead rely on the blend of spices to achieve the desired result. The non-spicy dishes were similarly flavourful. There are choices for either end of the preferred palate spectrum. The service was speedy and polite. The atmosphere of the restaurant is well suited to table conversation. I was pleased to note the complete absence of any wall mounted TVs, or loud music competing with the table talk.

Stopped in for a quick lunch of a different flavour so i ordered the Pansit with Shrimp and Spring Rolls. The Pansit was a really nice fresh plate of noodles and shrimp that livened up with a squeeze of lime. Very good. The Spring Rolls were thick and crisp. Nice light flavour very filling. Prices were reasonable and the service was friendly and informative. They are celebrating a 3 year anniversary and I wish them many more years of service .

The Nook and Cannery feels like a homely place. The food feels fresh, rich, flavourful and made with care, complimenting the decor and atmosphere of the place. Many of their dishes have a touch of fusion, combining elements from different parts of the world, and it's done well in my opinion. They'll also ask you about elements you'd like to exclude/include in a dish, and if not, feel free to ask them. Lot of gluten-free options! They also have a lot of pretty and tasty baked goods. Had my friend invite us here because he loves the place, and after visiting, "Will definitely come back again!" felt like a hearty and honest review of the place. Prices are alright - even if it feels slightly on the higher side, the portions are adequate. When we visited on a Saturday evening, the place wasn't that crowded.

I’ve eaten here numerous times and have loved every bite. The food is delicious, fresh, interesting and hearty and will fill you up. Salads and bowls are a feast for your eyes too. Definitely a must if you’re in St. John’s! It’s a tiny place so go early to beat the lines - cause you know a place with a line up means good things inside.

Nook and Cannery is our favourite spot in the city. Amazing and nourishing food with lots of options for everyone. There’s finally a place in the city where the gluten free (celiac) vegetarian can eat with friends and family and everyone gets what they want! We cannot say enough good about this place and how important they are to the community.

One of the more creative diners in town. Great food, flexible for gluten free options, vegan or vegetarian. I still go for the chicken or meat options but haven’t had a bad meal here. The popcorn chicken that I had last time was fun and tasty. The pot stickers were also great. Highly recommended.

Megan and crew have nice energy and seem to enjoy working with each other. Creates a nice atmosphere. Really liked the varied menu options. Husband liked the large portion. Lots of flavor to their dishes. LGBTQ+ friendly eatery. Sitting by door was not the best option at this time of year. All else was great.

I've been here five times now and have had excellent experiences every time. Excellent service and food. Great atmosphere with nan-chic decor and good music vibes. A wonderfully queer-friendly space, I can't recommend this place enough. It's honestly my favourite spot in town.

Excellent spot for a healthy hearty lunch. I had the glory bowl and oh my goodness it was...glorious. the sauce was incredible. Tofu done perfectly. A wonderful assortment of perfectly prepped veggies to go with it. My husband had the black bean burger and fries which were amazing. We often have trouble finding good vegan food when we travel but this place hits the spot and has many vegan options. Our server was delightful as well. We ordered one of each of their vegan pastries to go and had them for breakfast the next morning. I don't know how they make their vegan puff pastry but I'm going to be asking for the recipe next time.

The espresso coffee was very sour and I couldn't finish it byonde the first sip. The place was not very clean, and the service was rather slow. They have a nice view, though, and a nice selection of vegan/ vegetarian food that I did not try.

Toslow is my go-to for a vegan breakfast and the hands-down best coffee I've had in St John's. The groovy vibe of local crowd hangout, Nanny's basement, and childhood summers at the cabin makes this place cool and inviting. The location on Duckworth Street, the harbour views from the upstairs picture window, and the gracious and engaging staff make this place, for me at least, a must-stop when in St. John's. And carnivores rest easy, the menu has you covered. We had the vegan Griddle sandwich made from scrambled tofu and vegan sausage and cheese, wholly caramelized in maple syrup. And the BLT on housemade focaccia. And, you guessed it, the BEST coffee! Five stars all around.

Stopped in for a vanilla latte and a flat white, and ended up getting a full-on coffee education from the barista — who was equal parts skilled and entertaining. Honestly, I think I learned more about beans and milk textures in five minutes than I did in four years of school. We took our drinks upstairs, where the vibe is cozy, a little old-soul, and the kind of place you could easily “accidentally” spend an afternoon in. The coffee was excellent, the atmosphere even better — and if I could hire that barista as my personal coffee tutor, I’d never touch a drip machine again. Highly recommend for anyone who likes their caffeine with a side of character.

A cute coffee place with grandma style charm. We went with a matcha latte and iced chai latte, both were really good, also got a breakfast sandwich which was good.

Went this morning as it was near the hotel. The music and environment was perfect. Coffee was excellent. Dirty chai was actually made with tea and perfect espresso. Exceptional overall experience. I was originally just getting coffees to go but decided to stay and read a bit.

This place has fantastic coffee, and great breakfast options. We are a bit picky about coffee and both were very happy with our Americano and latte, excellent coffee.

I visited a few weeks ago with my child and had a great time. The WWI exhibit for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment was well put together and very informative. They had also many activities for children throughout. It was interesting to see all the Canada Games medals in the archives area. The view of the harbour was great too.

A true gem in the heart of St. John's, The Rooms is an absolute must-visit for locals and tourists alike. The experience begins before you even step inside; the building itself is a gorgeous piece of architecture that beautifully complements the city's skyline. One of the first things you'll appreciate is the fair and reasonable admission price. It’s great value for the quality and scale of the facility. They also have special times when students can get in for free, which is a fantastic initiative to make arts and culture accessible to everyone. Once inside, the art gallery and museum collections are simply stunning. Everything is so wonderfully put together and immaculately kept. You can feel the passion and care that goes into every exhibit. It's clear that whoever is in charge of the galleries has a great love for what they do, as the attention to detail is evident everywhere you look. It makes for a truly immersive and enjoyable experience as you explore Newfoundland and Labrador's rich history and vibrant arts scene. Beyond the exhibits, the amenities are top-notch. The gift shop is incredibly cute and boasts a wide selection of amazing Newfoundland merchandise, as well as items specific to The Rooms. And while it deserves its own separate review, I have to mention that the on-site cafe is amazing. Overall, The Rooms is a world-class facility that St. John's should be incredibly proud of. I can't recommend it enough.

Fantastic museum, I really enjoy the art gallery of the Newfoundland local artist. Amazing pieces. And we learned about the history of indigenous people. It was so touching. And we found the interaction between the public the organizers is also very interesting. Ppl are creating their art pieces in The Rooms at night on Friday. Then there’s a wall full of their artwork.

A very interesting museum on 3 floors. Here you will learn a lot about the First World War and the participation of Newfoundlanders in it, and also get acquainted with the animal world of the Arctic. There are 2 art galleries, a fairly large cafe and a large sports exhibition.

The Rooms turned out to be one of the must explore stops in St. John’s. I spent a couple of hours exploring and could’ve easily stayed longer. The exhibits on Newfoundland’s history, especially the personal artifacts from people before and during the world wars, really made me pause. The whale section was another highlight, something you don’t forget quickly, the carved whale skull alone is massive, stretching several feet across, and it really gives you a sense of just how enormous these creatures are. And of course, the view from upstairs is worth the visit on its own, looking out over the harbour and Signal Hill is just beautiful. If you like reading through every exhibit, plan for most of a day. Otherwise, a few hours is enough to get a real feel. Either way, it’s a place that leaves an impression.

First time there. A beautiful, modern museum in the heart of St. John’s. Full of historical artifacts, arts and educational facts about NFLD. The restaurant there produces delicious food with an outstanding view of the harbour and Signal Hill. Good for all ages!

Very well put together museum with a few floors to explore. There's even a bistro type restaurant on the top floor to eat or have food and drink. This is one place I wanted to visit on my trip and it certainly didn't disappoint. There was so much information about the island with so many exhibits and explanations to go with everything. It's an awesome place to visit if it's your first time visiting and want to spend an afternoon or the day somewhere by yourself or others. It was also surprisingly clean with how big it is. I don't think I even got to see everything but my favorite is seeing all the preserved artifacts of real life things they used to use over the years for transport etc.

It's a bit crammed, even upstairs but it is better upstairs. Everything (chairs, table, floor etc.,) was a little sticky though which was uncomfortable. However, the beer is good and they have quite the variety. I got their signature fish and chips and the fish is really fresh as you'd expect from Newfoundland but I would've preferred a bit more seasoning especially since it's supposed to be herb-crusted. The tartar sauce seems to be made in house and really carried the dish. I'd have it again ☺️ but I'm still looking for the best fish and chips in St. John's

First night in St. John’s I had to try this place. It was top of my wish list and the food did not disappoint. Started with a dip that was amazing, cream cheese, green onion, bacon and chips. Then we shared a two piece fish and chips. They knew we were sharing so that spilt it onto two plates for us. The fish was so good, light, flaky, the coating was not greasy. The fries were hand cut and really good too. The dipping sauce with the fries was a nice touch. The waitress recommended a really good beer that fit my needs. It was really busy so service was a little slow but with the amount of people it was understandable.

I just happened upon this place. Its a local brewpub. A great selection of beers. A very nice menu. Staff is friendly. It's just a cool brewpub to come have a beer and or some food. They have two happy hours. 3 to 5 and 10 to close! Gotta love it! I'm here for work and took drive downtown and found Yellowbelly! Glad I did!!! I ordered the wood fired pepperoni pizza! Another... "Glad I did!"

I booked a table in advance to come here. The place is very popular! We were in the old hall, where there were still traces of a big fire. It creates an atmosphere. If you want a noisier atmosphere, book a table in the main hall. The food is very tasty, but we came for the beer, which they brew themselves. There is a lot to choose from. Thank you.

One of our go to restaurants when in St.john’s. I always order the braised short rib, and it never disappoints. So much flavour, beef is literally falling off the bone! Pair it with Wexford Wheat beer, you’ll be glad you did. Be sure you ask to be seated in the Underbelly, the more secluded area downstairs.

I discovered this historic brewery through their website and decided to pay a visit—and it did not disappoint. Their beers are exceptional, even surpassing what I’ve tried in Toronto. I ordered the YYT Cream Ale, which had a uniquely distinctive aroma that stood out. As for the food, the salt and vinegar cod bites and the seafood chowder are must-tries. After all, you can’t visit Newfoundland without enjoying its renowned seafood.

Had to try this place after hearing about it. The Thai Curry mussels were outstanding and the service was fantastic. The nachos could have been better but decent.

I really enjoyed the breakfast meal, but felt like it was a bit smaller than expected. The staff and wait service was incredible!! Nice outdoor patio and interior was beautiful. Accessible front entrance. Thank you!

Douglas made our dining experience both times we went to the Gypsy tea room amazing. The food was superb and the staff friendly and went above and beyond our expectations. I had the smash burger and the Cajun chicken fettuccine my wife had the lamb shank as well as halibut every bite of each meal was awesome and delicious. Thank you Douglas and everyone else

We were recommended this place by locals a few times so we decided to try it out and are very glad we did! Staff is very friendly and also gave good food recommendations. We both got the Candied Apple cocktail and it was the best cocktail of our trip. For an appetizer we got the Brie; it was pricey but so delicious and looked pretty. Woulda like just a couple more crostinis but either way, we still enjoyed it very much. For our mains I ordered the Cajun Chicken Fettuccini and my fiancée got the Blackened Salmon and we both absolutely loved our meals, everything was cooked and presented to perfection. Highly recommend stopping by!

After our last not too good experience at this place, we went back last Saturday. The place was not too busy, so we had a good experience this time. Delicious food and excellent service.

I am visiting St. John's, NL for business. I asked the Delta Concierge for restaurant recommendations and he suggested The Gypsy Tea Room. The Blackened Salmon was excellent, I would have licked my plate if I was home. I didn't have any dessert, but the options looked divine! Cassie, the waitress is the epitome of waitresses! Very attentive, responsive, accommodating (for dietary restrictions), simply delightful!

We were a group of 18 and was seated and one of the large rooms in the lower floor. The room was fantastic, spacious, and gave us a private space for interactions. Our server was very attentive a patient. I ordered the cod fish burger and I would definitely ordered again. Portions was great, tons of fries. The clam chowder was excellent as well, and I particularly like the fact that it was not salted too heavily, like many other restaurants do. Chunks of fish were present. I would say the carrot cake was okay. It's not as small as some of the better ones I have tasted but that may be my own particular preference.

This is a quintessential locally run fresh seafood restaurant in a beautiful location. The owners were incredibly hospitable, showing us their lobster operations and talking to us extensively about their locally sourced seafood. While there, we had a variety of dishes, including the fresh lobster dinner The lobster dinner was excellent and really good value for the money. The seafood chowder and cod and chips was equally fresh and expertly prepared. We sat inside the restaurant, but there is also patio seating which, in good weather would be an absolute perfect place to enjoy this local cuisine. The restaurant does only take cash with an ATM machine on site. This restaurant is absolutely worth a visit and should be an essential part of any Newfoundland vacation in the area!

We dropped in for lunch here, after visiting the Long Point Lighthouse. It is a restaurant, and it sells live lobsters, too. It is located by the sea, with fantastic view of the water. The room is not big, clean, bright, with about 7~8 (?) tables. We arrived around 1pm, a waiting line of four or six already ahead of us. We waited at outside, chatting with an aged biker from Corner Brook for a while before seated. During the waiting period I saw people came to buy lobsters, at less than half of the price compared to Toronto stores. The lobster meal was absolutely delicious, as well as crabmeat sandwich. The staff were super friendly. The lobster meal comes with fries, a pop, and dessert. Come and try out by yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Note: Cash Only, ATM onsite

This seasonal restaurant is a hidden gem. Fresh home cooking and food was excellent. Fish and chips were incredibly fresh and lightly battered and not greasy. Pasta dish on the menu was a surprise, fresh muscles and shrimp in a rose sauce - chef’s kiss!

Fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. Quick and friendly service. CASH ONLY. They have an ATM machine inside. You could also call ahead to get a lobster prepared. Not many tables inside (outside area is not open at the time we visited) so there might be a bit of wait.

A unique place with lots to offer - excellent service and fresh fish and seafood with a view. Even better - they have a gluten free menu, and their wine pours are at a great price point and are topped off nicely! Nothing fancy - just good Newfoundland grub.

We got the 3lb lobster dinner, tacos and the partridge cake. Lobster was fresh, nothing amazingly different than if you bought a good fresh lobster and cooked it yourself, but the partridge cake was SO GOOD, better than the lobster in my opinion, make sure to get one even if you don't eat the lobster 😂 It's a cash only location so make sure to bring some, otherwise they have an ATM right by the payment window

Amazingly delicious cod fish and chips... so fresh! The better was so light and fluffy, as was the fish! I definitely recommend it. Also tasted the fish cake and they were a generous portion and also delicious! Service was very nice. Outdoor patio was cute and is up a set of stairs.

We first visited Chafe’s Landing last year before the fire and loved the moose melt and moose mess—especially the moose melt. We went back yesterday hoping to try it again since they’re the only place we know that serves moose dishes, but unfortunately they didn’t have the meat this time. Instead, we had the moose sausages, fish and chips, and lobster roll. The moose sausages were delicious and worth the try, and the fish and chips were honestly the best we’ve had so far. The lobster roll was also great—we even forgot to take pictures at first because we couldn’t wait to dig in (our fish and chips photo is missing a piece, and the lobster roll has a bite in it 😅). Such a great spot with unique offerings!

My wife and I had the best Fish-n-Chips in NFLD and we have tried a few. My wife doesn’t like fish, but she ate it with pleasure and left her with the fondest of memories. The fish were so fresh and flaky. They were amazing. We also had the fish cakes, which were equally good. Their portions were huge. 5oz per piece of fish. The food there left us with such a good impression, we ended up sharing our experience with two other couples.

Dinner was delicious and exactly what we were looking for on our short weekend trip to Newfoundland! We had come to Petty Harbour because it was on our way back to where we were staying after visiting Cape Spear. What a great busy restaurant in a cute town. We can’t wait to come back on our next trip to Newfoundland. Also a congratulations to our server who was set to get married this weekend (hopefully it all worked out for your friend coming from out of country). We had the seafood chowder, fish cakes, kids cod bites and the fish and chips.

Excellent food! The young ladies hostesses could use some guidance. Asked to sit on the patio because it was a beautiful day. The ladies seating said there were no seats left and went to seat us downstairs. Asked to sit upstairs next so we could enjoy the view. They put us at the farthest table from the window by the bathroom. Only 1 other table upstairs was taken. She said we couldn't sit near the window. When our server came over, we asked to sit over looking the water. She said no problem. That is when we noticed 2 tables empty on the patio. One was filled about 15 minutes after we arrived and the other sat open our entire meal. Food was great but definitely puts a damper on your enjoyment dealing with people who are not welcoming. Our server had some great recommendations and glad we took them.

The food here is to die for!!! I recommend making a reservation as they are extremely busy but we got a table just by walking in! The staff were so friendly and the vibe of this place is amazing. They have live music as well! Parking is a bit difficult tho. 10/10 experience and i will definitely be back again! We had the cod tongues, lobster bisque and 2 piece fish and chips ❤️

Chafe’s Landing in Petty Harbour is an absolute gem! Probably the BEST fish & chips I’ve ever had — you can tell the fish was caught fresh that very morning. The batter was perfectly crisp, the fish flaky and flavourful. Do yourself a favour and get the fries with dressing and gravy — total comfort food heaven. Our server, Ben, recommended the moose sausages with their homemade mustard pickle, and wow… what a fantastic suggestion! The flavour combo was out of this world. This spot was featured on You Gotta Eat Here, and it’s obvious why. Great food, friendly service, and that authentic Newfoundland charm. A must-visit if you’re anywhere near Petty Harbour!

Overall a nice experience. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. The food was also pretty good, but nothing exceptional. The salmon, however, was really good. I would certainly recommend trying this restaurant if you're downtown St. John's.

Really enjoyed dinner at Get Stuffed. It’s a great restaurant. The food is delicious. We had the antipasto and chowder for appetizers and the beef phylo (special) and the hazelnut chicken for mains. Everybody said they enjoyed their food. The atmosphere is interesting. The old building and narrow staircase contribute to the quaint feel of the place. The staff is really great as well. They’re very friendly and professional, considerate and quick to notice when the water glasses are empty. One guy even noticed that one of the tables had uneven legs and fixed the tilt for the guests. The one negative aspect of our visit was a waitress who served us water came to the table smelling strongly of smoke, she had probably just returned from her smoke break. Overall I’d recommend Get Stuffed and I plan to come back.

Great place to try local seafood. More of a personal preference, but I found the sauces / flavours to be a bit overpowering for our dishes - which concealed the seafood taste. The restaurant is cozy inside, especially by the window. Overall a good experience.

Took us over 2 hours for an appetizer and main dish. It was ok, but didn’t blow my mind by any means, can cook a steak better at home. Most likely won’t go back…

We ended up here unexpectedly after our other supper plans fell through, and I cannot be more glad that we did! The server was so nice & friendly from the moment we walked, with a lot of character as well. The atmosphere was great, the entire menu looks fantastic as well. We had some scallops and oysters rockefeller as starters which were both amazing. I had the tenderloin and my husband had the rack of lamb, also amazing and well cooked to temps. Dessert of baked puff pastry filled with chocolates was delicious - a bit sweet but that's just a personal preference for me. Drinks and wine were all delicious, was a lovely way to enjoy my birthday dinner.

Went here for my birthday yesterday.. got the rib rack, rib shank, seafood soup which was a special, beef tartar (the crackers were really stale) and nacho duck confit. Everything was okay, the seafood soup was the best thing. The server was very rough around the edges. Not terrible but definitely not for special occasions. My mom said it was my birthday and they just k… not even happy birthday back… rough around the edges for the 250 we spent for two people..

I usually leave good reviews for restaurants even if the food is not that good, but this one is different. The food came out cold and tasted bad. I asked for it to be reheated which was but was still horrible. I politely left the food and asked for the bill and they still charged me for the food that I didn’t eat. I would definitely not recommend going here and if you see my profile, you’ll see that I mostly leave 5 star reviews for everyone.

My partner and I enjoyed dinner at Magnum and Steins last night and it was fantastic. We had the duck nachos to start which were highly recommended by friends and they did not disappoint, definitely the highlight of the night! For mains I had the fish of the night, which was a cod dish. The dish was prepared very well. My partner had the pasta of the night, which was a chicken based pasta dish which was quite good! For desert we had the chocolate flourless torte which was superb. Our server Laura was friendly, helpful but a bit slow at points, however she had many tables. She gave us great recommendations, and even surprised us with our mains and wine pairings. The restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was intimate. Would recommend

The location and views are breathtaking! The sandwiches, salads and desserts are really delicious and fresh. We especially loved the carrot cake. Highly recommend. Remember to book well in advance.

We loved our lighthouse picnic experience. I booked online 2 weeks before our trip. In the day of, you drive up the gravel road to the parking lot, and then hike (uphill on the way there) 1.0 km to the lighthouse. We reserved our picnic for the 12:00 pick up, and arrived early so we could explore the area around the lighthouse before the picnic pick up time. The area is beautiful. At noon we went in the room at the bottom of the lighthouse to pick up our food. Everything was ready and in a bag for us to take with us. They have baskets and blankets for you to borrow and bring your stuff out to the area around the light house. There is also a single washroom for use inside, that is only accessible from 12-3 when picnics are being served. There are benches and picnic tables, as well as lots of green space to picnic on the ground with your blanket. I really enjoyed the cookies and orzo salad. By husband loves his curried chicken sandwich, though for me, I don’t love the jam and Brie as much. The sandwiches are huge with very thick slices of bread. Enjoying the picnic with the view of the tuna jumping in the ocean was special. We are so glad we arranged for this picnic and would definitely recommend it.

We visited the lighthouse picnic, but unlike many others, I hadn’t pre-ordered. I only realized once we got there that food has to be booked ahead, and when searched in google maps, “about” section or menu doesn’t really say that clearly. It would be helpful if they added that note up front so first-time visitors don’t miss it. Since I couldn’t get the full picnic, I just grabbed a brownie and a lemonade instead. Both were really good, and the spot itself is beautiful, so I still enjoyed the visit. But if you’re planning to go, make sure you pre-order your picnic in advance, otherwise you’ll end up like me, wishing you had.

Whether a local or come-from-away, a lighthouse picnic is not to be missed! The service provided by the truly lovely staff is outstanding. The food is some of the most delicious on the island & beyond - fresh, flavorful, generous servings of everything. The setting? Spectacular. We sat hillside over the cliffs watching the surf pound & splash against the craggy shore as a pod of seals frolicked not 100ft away under most brilliant sunshine. Heaven on earth.

A very original lunch idea surrounded by nature that creates a truly memorable moment as the coastal setting on the eastern part of Newfoundland (Canada) is remarkable. The food is all home made: great tasty sandwiches, salad, lemonade and desserts. If you are lucky you may see passing by icebergs while you eat.

Omg this was the most amazing experience! The food, location and experience....all incredible! I had the veggie sandwich and my husband had the chicken curry. Both exceptional! You pick your picnic up inside the lighthouse. They also have cookies there so bring cash. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They even had blankets! It is about a 10min easy hike from parking lot in medow to lighthouse. A must do experience!

One word describes this place… OUTSTANDING! If you’re from out of town, and searching for the BEST fish and chips, Leo’s is the place to be. Been in St.John’s for a week, so I’ve tried fish and chips elsewhere of coarse, no one beats Leo’s, had to come back several times to eat, only because I know it would be a while before having their fish and chips again. Literally a Momma and son spot, mom the owner serving you like you’ve know her your whole life and son cooking away. It’s a corner restaurant you’d think twice about walking into, don’t make the mistake, walk in and enjoy their fresh fish, absolutely friendly service and, not that it matters, best prices for the amount of food they offer. You will not regret it, a must try. ENJOY! The fish and chip picture I posted is a half portion I shared with my wife, so you have an idea.

Initial opinion on location is what seems to be a mom n pop fish and chips store. The furniture is a bit old but does the job. The food was fresh prepared, and it took around 10 minutes from order to delivery. However, it did not disappoint. I had the large fish and fries with all the fixing. Had all the wonderful flavors and fixtures you would want in a St. John's fish and chips. I would think the plate is sharable as I was full from lunch to dinner!

When I said to the person behind the counter “it’s been 20 years since I’ve been here” she replied “we haven’t changed!!”. I’m so glad that was true. The fish n chips were exactly how I remembered them: the BEST in St. John’s!!

I found out about Leo's when I watched a number of Mark Royle YouTube videos about Newfoundland fish and chips. Along with all his other recommendations Leo's didn't disappoint. The fries had a different taste than the other fish and chip places that I loved. The staff were friendly and welcomed me as newcomer with characteristic Newfoundland hospitality. Leo's is a must try when in St. John's.

The fish and chips are great! The batter is very crispy and the fries are just so good. It's a very popular place for the locals and it just has a few seats. You might have to wait bit during peak hours. But you won't be disappointed. A must try if you're looking for some good fish and chips. Very friendly service as well.

Since it’s in Newfoundland and I have been to other fish places I have to give it a 3-star. If this restaurant is in Toronto I’ll give it a 4. I went to Ches’s next door and it’s a solid 5. The waiting time is very very long although there aren’t many customers. Food is semi burnt. The fish is soggy. Batter is also soggy. Staff not pleasant. Fries are so-so. Gravy has a burnt taste, it’s thick but it’s tasteless. Fish (cod) is good but the soggy batter ruins it. My suggestion is to go to Ches’s next door instead. Ches’s is cheaper too.

Very limited menu. If you don't like fish there is chicken at $29, mediocre at best. There is also a steak but it was like $36 or something. It's overpriced and the food doesn't even come close to matching the price.

Would not recommend the Xmas buffet. Limited selection, left over desserts from yesterday, and dry meats. I appreciate that they are trying something new to attract customers, but they dont have the volume and turnover for a good buffet.

Its the good cafe stop once you are up top Signal hill. They have delicious cocoa drinks, cakes, gelato and choco bars in the air C room with tables. Very cute place and nice atmosphere

Amazing hot chocolate; so thick and rich that it made my trip! Came back for more hot chocolate and bring home their puffin eggs chocolate, honey comb milk chocolate toffee and hot chocolate mix for souvenirs! Super friendly and kind service.

Stopped on my way back from Signal Hill. Got a bunch of chocolate bars I thought would be a great gift from Newfoundland. They also taste amazing. Got some ice cream as well which was pretty good. Definitely recommend and will definitely come back when in St. John’s.

Such a wonderful surprise to find this fantastic cafe after the hike up the hill! They had a nice range of sweet and savoury snacks but when I saw there was a hot chocolate menu I had to go for that. I chose the first one from the list I think and it was utterly delicious, one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had in my life! Super rich and decadent without being sickly and the price was very reasonable for the quality too. Plus the staff were really lovely.

a nice cafe for some good drinks next to Signal Hill. their frozen mocha is lovely - vibrant chocolate flavour, good espresso, and a uniform texture throughout the drink. it was light, refreshing & fast. they give some chips alongside grilled sandwiches, and feature a selection of different hot chocolate flavours, with their own designated menu section. the "tourist tax" is real. items here are priced a notable amount higher than average, and while the coffee is good, the sandwiches are only okay; despite using plain white bread, lacking texture & being stored in a refrigerator at the counter, they are $10 to $13 each, depending on contents. atmosphere is lacking due to the corner it is tucked in, and the number of tourists who frequent the gelato spot and museum housed in the same building, generating a lot of volume.

Some of the best hot chocolates and cookies I’ve ever tasted. And I found the staff to be friendly, generous and helpful, and the food to be delicious!

Despite the listing saying this location was closed it was not. This company makes absolutely wonderful chocolates and deserts. We shared an Oompa Loompa which is a large cookie with a generous couple of scoops of gelato drizzled with chocolate. They allow you to choose your cookie type aand your gelato so there are numerous versions of this desert. All of them delicious! They also have Newfoundland expressions on the tables.

If I could leave a 10-Star review I would. I want it to be known. I consider myself an Alfredo connoisseur. I’ve tried probably over 100+ different restaurants over the last decade. None as good as this place! It was fate. One of my favourite meals is stuffed pasta (preferably with chicken or beef) with Alfredo’s. They had it as a special this fine evening! Their drink special, another favourite — Strawberry Moscow Mule. This meal could not have been more catered to my taste palette.

Came to Bellissimo a couple weeks ago when I was visiting St Johns! What a great little bistro! The team who worked there were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient! Food was delicious! Restaurant was clean, and had a great atmosphere! I went an hour to closing, so I had no trouble getting a table! I would highly recommend visiting for lunch or supper!!

Best Service and meal I've had in a long time! Wedding anniversary supper. Friday, Sept.1, 2023, 6pm. It was busy! Wait staff were genuinely friendly and knowledgeable. Sarah was our server and was great fun! Bruschetta to start, excellent! Bomba sauce, made fresh in house, is the best! Chicken Parm and Braciole for mains. Delicious and perfectly cooked. Dessert: affogato and cannoli. I cannot wait to return!

Lovely restaurant! We had the bruschetta, lasagna, pasta a la vodka, and tiramisu for dessert - all of which were phenomenal. Their drink specials - a cherry hugo spritz and spicy margarita - were also delicious. The service was exceptional. We visited during what seemed to be their dinner rush; however, everything ran very smoothly. The servers were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Our first time but most definitely not our last at Bellissimo. Thank you for a lovely dinner experience 🇮🇹 ❤️

Nice atmosphere, server was disinterested, did not return for drink order after our initial order, I ordered chicken parmigiana which didn’t come with any pasta, never seen this before. The server did not offer parm cheese or pepper with our meals.

Delicious food, cozy atmosphere and excellent service. We ordered the deluxe bruschetta as an appetizer + the carbonara pasta and chicken parmesan sandwich as mains. Took a lovely tiramisu latte to go as well. Will definitely be back on our next trip to town!!

Bad Bones Ramen provides great food, ample service, and a wonderfully unique and refreshing atmosphere. The chicken shoyu was a delight. The portions were generous, the ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was lovely. It was easy to see the effort put into the dish. The service provided was more than sufficient. I never had to ask for a refill on my water, and the waiter checked in often enough without being a nuisance. There was plenty of seating available during dinner hours. The dining area was clean, well-lit, and pleasantly quiet, allowing for proper conversation. The decor was good, and the staff music taste was on point. The ceilings near the bathrooms are a bit low, especially if you're a taller person like myself. However, that's a given for most buildings in the downtown area. I absolutely can't recommend this place enough. Considering the steep decline in quality for most other dine-in restaurants, Bad Bones absolutely knocks it out of the park in comparison. I will be eating here again in the future.

We definitely enjoyed our ramen here. We had the pork belly shoyu. The broth is well developed and pork belly and egg were perfect. The broth is a little rich, and sits heavier than most ramens. It’s a few tweaks away to go from good to great, in our opinion. Service was good. We could see them working in the kitchen, and it was clean how much attention and care was given to presentation and preparing each bowl fresh. It was definitely worth the wait.

This is such a lovely spot, and I have to say, the staff was so friendly! We came down during the pedestrian mall, and had no trouble finding a spot to sit down at around 1PM. Everything was decorated nicely, and it was really clean too. We ordered almost right away and had some dumplings, which were honestly my favorite! And before we could even finish those, we had our main dish come out. The broth was absolutely amazing, and all the toppings were fresh and cooked really well. Our server was so kind, and the atmosphere was wonderful! We seen a few people pick up some orders too, so if you didn't want to eat in, that seems like a great option.

Bad Bones Ramen has a cute and fun location that immediately catches your eye. The ambiance is lively and inviting, making it a great spot for a casual meal or a hangout with friends. The staff here are excellent—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. However, while the atmosphere and service shine, the ramen itself doesn't quite hit the mark. It's not bad, but it falls short of the high expectations set by the rather steep prices. For the cost, one would anticipate a more memorable culinary experience. If you’re looking for a fun spot with great service, Bad Bones Ramen is worth a visit, but ramen aficionados might find the quality doesn’t justify the price tag.

Generous with meat Cooked to perfection pork belly and chicken kastu The broth is tasty but not too salty. Overall the food is authentic at the meatier side( better for Canadians) . Also it's presentable topped up with lots of healthy veggies. We found our ramen place in this city!

Over the last 2.5 years I’ve tried all of their main broths - Miso, Shoyu, Tantanmen, and Dirty shrimp. Initially, they were pretty good; however, recently all of them have been bland and lacking in flavour. It has been a constant let down in the past year. Ironically, as their quality of ramen constantly decreased, their prices continuously increased, and it gets harder and harder to justify the price of their unappetizing ramen. Noodle Nami on Rowan St. has arguably better ramen for ~$4-5 less. The one good thing Bad Bones has going for them are their side dishes - they are a great bang for your buck. All in all, if you’ve ever had half-decent ramen in another city, I’d recommend you skip out on Bad Bones for your ramen cravings in St. John’s.

Exceeded my expectations. We ordered the Pork Tantanmen and Pork Belly Shoyu. Both had plenty of pork and a good amount of noodles and vegetables. Also added the homemade hot sauce which was sweet and spicy. It's not quite traditional but was quite good. Service was good and efficient for having only one person on staff for the whole restaurant. Decor was familiar for a ramen restaurant with the menu on a wall chalkboard and benches along the wall and chairs on the other side. Would definitely recommend.

At first we felt ignored, though there were not much of crowd. I am not sure if it was due to us being not white, as the impression was being given like that. The serving folks were little snubbish, but then eventually our server was wonderful and very friendly. The food was good and the ambience was wonderful. Would recommend, but the management should know or train their crew not to judge the book by it's cover.

With the purchase of tickets for Iceberg Quest St. John's Harbour boat tour, a "two for one"  coupon for fish and chips at Jungle Jim's was included. The restaurant was within walking distance of the harbour and we were starved, so off we went. It was quiet and they were busy cleaning up inside and out and getting ready for the crowds. They have quite a large and varied menu. Beer and a Bloody Mary seemed fitting beverages and were quite refreshing. The fish was a large piece and wonderful tasting with a crispy coating and fries. Restaurant decorated in jungle theme but not overly so. A happy looking place with an outside patio as well. A very pleasant and filling lunch. Washroom was upstairs. Parking nearby.

The scallops are very small and baguette came burnt on one side but overall good snack and the servers are nice. Thé Buffalo inferno on taqueria was best.

This is a BAD pub with a cheating & hiding menu, rude attitude & rude customer service. We are first visiting St. John's and have our first dinner in Jungle Jim's, Located in St. John’s (George Street), N.L. 2 Holdsworth Court. But we had a bad experience with this pub's bad service. They hid the regular menu (Thai Bites(4)) price of $10.99, and only showed us the special one which is only $6.99. We want to get clear about the price, but the supervisor and manager tried to avoid the fact, and have lots of excuses to NOT show us the regular menu, which is $10.99. They DON'T even say SORRY to us with a rude attitude to rush out of the pub. I attached the receipt they charged us with $10.99. They DON'T let us take a photo on the real menu which we ordered. We only can take a photo on the menu they posted on the outside wall. Do you guys see this item in the postered menu? The supervisor and manager let us to check online menu, but we were diner in the pub, why don't let us see the menu on site instead? it does totally not make any sense. We want to seriously tell you, this pub is NOT RECOMMENDED. We want to give them ZERO rate, but unfortunately there is NO ZERO

Food was great and well priced. Plenty of seating available and a good height for adults and kids alike. Staff were great, friendly and helpful and interacted with the kids too with high fives and smiles. Special shout out to Priya for making the experience great. I recommend the moose burger and also fish and chips. Went down well with an iceberg beer. Highly recommended.

Decent place to stop in for to grab a bite for lunch. Clean restaurant with decent service. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is made to order - fish and chips were delicious although a little heavy on the batter. I substituted the fries for onion rings as I prefer onion rings over fries. Had a fresh orange juice with my meal, wait staff kinda chuckled at that over having a beer or soda pop. Overall pretty good.

Poor service this evening. Our server didn't come back to our table for anything, we had to reach out to other servers for things we needed. Basically had to let the server know how kids meals work and the things that come with it. Truly disappointed

Their homemade fries are the best I have eaten in a long time! Turkey flips are so yummy. Clubhouse is delicious. Baked goods are great. Prices are good! Takeout only. Definitely recommend.

I've been a long-term customer of Fabulous foods (since the old days, when they were called Chaulkers !)....but unfortunately I've noticed a steady decline in the food that I've grown accustomed too. Today was my final visit. HAVE THEY CHANGED RECIPES ? Or am I imagining things. The food was totally tasteless....the fries undercooked, the gravy was horribly bland (zero taste), and the turkey almost tasted sour. The worst part unfortunately, was the dressing, which is usually my favorite. The dressing had way too much savory, making it inedible. I literally tossed my HOT turkey deluxe in the trash bin. I can't be the only one who has noticed the decline in quality can I?? Sorry Fabulous foods.... I won't be back.

Good Fries and Gravy but the block of dressing isn’t the best, And there is only 2 uncomfortable stools for seating and they are way too low for the counter to eat at. Really good prices for food I have to say !

The name says it all! Fabulous Foods! Not posh - just perfect home-style meals served with warm Newfoundland Hospitality! Fish & Chips, Turkey Pot Pies! Turkey Roll (flip /turnover)! And oven-fresh NL-style baked goods daily! It's Absolutely FABULOUS (in a homespun way)!

Was always one of my local favorites...the baked goods in particular the cherry squares were not only much smaller but more importantly lacked any taste whatsoever of cherry square...I've heard similar comments about other items from friends...bye, bye what was once Fabulous Foods

Bought a cold plate there on Friday. Didn’t look at it until 3 hours later. Pathetic. Wouldn’t even eat it . Looked disgusting. Someone should send them a picture of a cold plate because that definitely wasn’t it. No more business from me.

We got there and there was no hot flips left and they were still open another hour and a bit u guys need to learn to keep enough hot one till u close other then that I would have gave 5 stars

Salmon was undercooked. The food was lukewarm. We also ordered the fish and chips, really not that good..they charged additional $8 for dressing and gravy. We didn't know until we saw the bill. The steak was tender but again without knowing the market price made it $63. Would appreciate better food quality and transparency on your pricing.

It was our last night in Newfoundland and we wanted to treat ourselves after working the Avalon Expo. I met the owners wife and she said I had to try the food here after I talked about my passion for eating duck. Well we made it in time and I was definitely not disappointed. Our server and bartender was Krista. She was very friendly and got us a perfect seat for the view to watch the boats coming and going. The drinks we got were the house white wine and an old fashioned. The house wine was surprisingly crisp and had a great taste. Alex’s old fashioned was made really well. A little on the sweet side but she said she liked it more than other places. Our chef was Chris. He definitely knows what the heck he’s doing back there. High five to that guy. For dinner we had the scallops, chicken pasta, and of course the duck for me. Dessert was the lavender crème brûlée and the chocolate mouse. The scallops were the best in Canada I ever had. Cooked to perfection. And the sweet bacon and curry. Omg it was really the best thing ever. Please try it if you go. They are so fresh, caught by Angus I was told. So Angus good catch! The chicken pasta, with hand made noodles hit the spot. The noodles were made like I was actually back in Italy. Never found a chef that got is so good in North America. The sauce was delicious and chicken was tender and juicy. The duck as you all know me I judge pretty harshly. It’s my favourite to have when eating out to a nice place. So the duck was pretty good. It was a touch dry for my taste. But it comes with cheese/bacon risotto. And man that really did make it a great meal. The veggies were amazing. Alex kept taking mine lol. I did find also there was little to much berries on the duck too. It kind of took away from the duck flavours I love so much. But I pushed some of the berries aside and then I got what the chef was saying in the dish. It really popped for me then. And the cold smoked flavour was amazing. Definitely loved that added touch. The lavender crème brûlée was perfect. I could taste the lavender and the creaminess was very smooth. Alex and I both loved it. The top was flamed just the way I like it. Hard as heck but also not too thick. The chocolate mousse with the caramelly sauce on top was to die for. Alex was full from the dinner but she ate the whole slice. I did get one try of it as she was protecting it from me lol. It was amazing. The chocolate was delicious and not as soft as other mousse I have had in my travels. I really enjoyed that about it. And getting a little of that caramel sauce was the cherry on top. There’s no cherries on it but there is lots of blueberries right from Newfoundland. Would definitely recommend if you’re coming here for a visit to the rock!

Food was ok but not great for an upscale restaurant. View was great. Not good decor or atmosphere. Speakers above or heads playing country music a little too loud. So so.

Went here yesterday with a friend and had a great experience! I ordered the fish and chips — the batter was so light, and the fish was super fresh and tasty. My friend had the fish cakes (the special of the day) with fries and loved them, especially the mustard pickle sauce on the bottom. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive. We were in and out within an hour but never felt rushed. Overall, delicious food and great service!

Server was friendly but took our order for a table of four and then had to come back and confirm two of them. Brought another drink but brought something different. The food was okay though the mussels flavour was not. Lamb shank and seafood chowder were okay. View was nice.

First time at Vu and it was great meal. Four of us went there on a Thursday night in January. Service was spot on and the wait staff were excellent. There were a few menu items missing. We really wanted to try the bone-in pork chop but we were told it was not available. This wasn't told to us until after we placed our order. Should have told us in advance. I had the seafood chowder and the strip steak and my wife had the spicy sweet potato soup and the fish & Chips. Our 2 friends both ordered the salmon as their main. All were exceptional! If there was a small complaint, the F&C was under a heat lamp for a time as the chips were a bit on the soggy side. All in all it was a great meal and I would recommend them. By the way, the Vu was fabulous❗️

Best brownie think I have ever had ate it so fast I couldn't snap a picture. 12/10. Chai tea latte was amazing and my husband said the coffee was excellent. Excellent atmosphere! Very relaxed and cozy :)

Nice cute place with perfect location. Liked conception of books and coffee in one place. Bought couple of scones two weeks ago and was absolutely disappointed because not fresh and found very big stone in my partridgeberry stone. Assume it was mixed with berries but it doesn't change the fact that it may cost you visit to the dentist. I was slowly eating so did not break my teeth but next time will I stop there? I have doubts

In the same vein as the Bagel Cafe, a very Georgetown style cafe with good food, good coffee and a reserved quiet experience. It’s a bit off the beaten tourist path but a lovely walk from downtown. In the time I was there there were several lovely people doing work on laptops. Apparently this is a popular place to telecommute from. Or perhaps work on that Doctoral Thesis. You get the Idea. Decent an relaxed. Good for getting away from the busy national chain coffee shops. Also good to support local. Odd that it’s closed in the evening. I would imagine this place would do well with live acoustic music and a larger dinner menu. It’s worth the trip.

Went here for the first time with the idea of exploring a local cafe in St.john's and seems I was at the perfect place. People who love the smell of coffee more than its taste (like me!) do try 'shot in the dark'. What else a person needs in life when good coffee in one hand and good book in another?! Totally recommended :))

Great cafe for brunch! Tried the bagel sandwich and it was delicious! Coffee was great as well. Only thing they are missing is an espresso machine to have more variety of coffee beverages. Didn’t try any sweets but they looked amazing! Can’t wait to go back and try some more things on the menu

We visited Ground Murray’s Café in Portugal Cove about a month ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere—it’s such a nice and cozy spot. We ordered the strawberry flaky, cheesecake, the Ground omelette, and two dark roast coffees. The food was tasty and fresh, and the cheesecake was a real highlight! The only thing we found a little disappointing was the coffee selection. They only serve brewed coffee (self-serve with milk, cream, or sugar), so I couldn’t get a latte, which I would have preferred. For the price, it would be nice to see more coffee options on the menu. Overall, it’s a lovely place to stop by, with great food and a welcoming vibe.

The Grounds Cafe is a great spot for brunch, lunch and desserts. Sorry the coffee wasn’t very good. We tried medium and dark roast. The dark roast was a bit better but I would stick to the many delicious food items available instead. Desserts are fantastic!

Such a hidden gem. Farm to table delicious food, great service and great shop with fresh vegetables. Definitely worth the trip from downtown.

The atmosphere is amazing—they have a new art collection every once in a while. This time they had hooked rugs! And there are plants everywhere and a greenhouse at back you can walk around in with wandering goats. The food was also amazing and they have a variety of sweets.

We had a bit of a wait to receive our food but the wait was absolutely worth it! the black bean burger was amazing! probably the best non meat burger i’ve had yet! and the fries were seasoned perfectly. The staff were kind and all had smiles on their faces. i already cannot wait to visit again! this cafe is seriously worth checking out!

It's a nice little spot with a fair choice of ice creams. You can see from other reviews that there are some unique choices. They have vegan and dairy free options as well! The prices are generally fair considering the portion size, and the ice cream tastes exactly as you'd expect for an ice cream shop, yummy, but truthfully nothing you haven't had before.

Tinkers is one of my favorite places to visit! The ice cream is delicious, with so many amazing flavors to choose from. Not only is it super yummy, but it’s also really affordable, which makes it even better. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, making it the ideal place to cool down and satisfy your sweet tooth. Highly recommend!

Awesome ice cream with some really over the top options (we didn't go crazy). We all got more traditional sundaes and everyone was more than satisfied. The town is very picturesque as well. 1 warning - parking is minimal and the town has zero options if the few spots they offer are full.

Busy dessert spot in Petty Harbour. Kids loved the endless options. All Freakshakes are larger size and can be shared. Not overly sweet. Must stop by while visiting Petty Harbour. Expect 20-30min wait times when your buses arrive. Washrooms clean and patio is quite large overlooking harbour. Do recommend more distributed garbage cans and table napkin dispensers.

What a great place to get ice cream! The atmosphere was incredible and the taste of the actually ice cream was unbeatable! Defiantly would come here again!

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Food and Service We had one of the worst dining experiences here. The problems were not just with the food, but also with the service. • We waited over an hour from the time we placed our order until the first dish arrived. That’s unacceptable under any circumstance, especially when the restaurant was not even at full capacity. • The Fish and Chips were a disaster. The batter was burnt, the fish inside was extremely dry, and to make things worse, one piece of fish wasn’t even fully coated in batter — it had a section completely exposed. One of the three pieces had no seasoning at all, and the others were salted on only one side. The fries were also burnt and bitter. • When I politely complained to the server about how overcooked the fish was, I was shocked by the response — they told me they “didn’t see anything wrong with it.” I had to point out the blackened batter and dry fries before they even acknowledged the issue. This level of denial and lack of accountability is very disappointing. • The nachos were overbaked to the point of being inedible. The top layer of chips was dry and hard, and the cheese had been cooked too long — it was scorched and rubbery. • The mussels were a joke — many were completely empty, likely due to being tossed around or overcooked until the meat fell out. They were just shells. • The Honey Dill Chicken Sandwich was also burnt and dry, with a bitter taste from being over-fried. • The only redeeming item was the Seafood Chowder, which was warm and decently flavored. But by that point, it was too little, too late. Overall, this was an unacceptable experience both in food quality and in customer service. There is clearly no proper kitchen control or attention to detail. And when a customer raises a valid complaint, dismissing it outright is just poor hospitality. We will definitely not return, and I strongly suggest others avoid this place unless major changes are made.

Great spot in Quidi Vidi Village with lots of beer options, a good vibe and nice views. Went on a Friday evening before a long weekend and waited over an hour to get in. Not complaining (we knew it would be busy), just giving a sense of how popular/busy this place is. Lots of great beer and food options. Would not recommend the Taproom Nachos (vegetarian), it was basically just BBQ sauce and chili mayo drizzled on top of a few toppings. Fish and chips were solid.

One of our last stops while visiting. We weren’t even hungry but had to try the fish and chips. The chips themselves weren’t anything to brag about, and had a bit of a fishy flavour so one can only assume they were fried in the same oil. However the fish was the best I’ve had in St. John’s. Perfectly cooked, lots of flavour, juicy and flakey on the inside. The only desert they had was blueberry bread pudding, which was quite good as well. Many options for alcoholic drinks, mostly made in house as well. The Service was alright. They seemed confused most of the time and more interested hanging around the register eating rather than actually serving.

Great location with a very nice patio! I love iceberg beer and have tried most of the other brew they make. The Iron Cherry Sour and Day Boil are other great beers! Food was excellent! I only had tacos, they had some other great options that looked great! The place was very busy when I got there around 11:30 and it appeared they were going through some renovations. The Reno's didn't ruin the experience at all. Their merch spot could use some work. T-Shirt sizes seemed to be pretty limited. Still a great place overall! Can't wait to come back next year.

Fair selection, and fairly high price - especially for the quality. The iceberg beer is definitely a novelty, and tastes like every other generic light beer on the island. Calm Tom and Day Boil are fair for IPA's. The Sophia Sour line is packaged wonderfully, but the tastes simply don't match the vibrant artwork of the cans. I won't haul it up a mountain again, lol.

Excellent Iceberg Lager beer and dinner! The beer was tasty and cold, and yes made with real iceberg water. The cod and chips were beyond perfect, crispy batter with plenty of tasty white meat cod inside. Probably the best we have ever had! And you can buy the Iceberg Lager to take home as well, cans and bottles. Highly Recommended!

Village pub and restaurant on the water in this little fishing village. Like most places here, make sure to call ahead to ensure they're open. Not everything is open or available and hours depend or crowd and weather. Quid Vidi Brewery is located on the water in this small fishing town. It's about a 30 to 40 minute drive from downtown St. John's. Their website is also worth a look; up to date and sell merchandise.

First my order was written down incorrectly. Complete cluster with all workers except one lady who seemed to be manager. Two female employees arguing with the one man chef out back. Two door dash customers being served prior to my order being lost as it sat inside the warmer, which the cashier already read the name, which again was so far off. Did I mention their "Halifax Style Donair" was served without cheese & completely cold. 🤔 so disappointed 😞 as I am born & raised Halifax

I give it a 4 because they do make the best pizza around in my opinion. The wings, fantastic. DONAIR IS INCREDIBLE. Cheese fries, incredible when made correctly. The items outside of the pizza and wings are inconsistent. Sometimes it's made wrong, sometimes it's right. The nachos are the worst nachos I've ever had. Like I even said ok I'll try just the cheese nachos and they even messed that up lol. The cheese comes off the chips into a burnt pile on the bottom that is stuck to paper so you can't even peel it off. Sent a message about an error on my order and they didn't bother responding. Didn't surprise me with what I've heard the owner is like. Obviously doesn't care about customer service. Stick with donair, pizza and wings, you'll be happy

So last time I went to get a slice and drink the lady charged me tax when on the sign outside it said 7 dollars for it including tax. She ain't from around here.

Well I went to big cheese and ordered a supper donair with. Cheese 2 extra pitas and 1 extra donair sauce total $39 and change I had been looking forward to trying there donairs since seeing the post that they had a new donair cooker . So I get home (I live approx an hour out side Mt Pearl) got ready to prep the 3 donairs . When I opened the tray holding the meat at first it looked good as it was covered with lots of cheese onions and tomato. As I moved the cheese aside I saw the meat cooked to death and burned . What I was served is what most donair places would slice off and Thro away (in my opinion). So I didn't want to make a public post I privately messaged the store on FB telling what I've shared above . The only reply was send pictures which I did (see attached) . It's been 3 days now and no further reply . This is not good. I made original msg to let the mgmt. Know what was going on in the store so they could deal internally to improve service . But since they clearly are to busy to respond to a coustomera concerns I thought I'd share with every one . Maybe now I'll get a reply. The pic shows one of the three donairs we threw away after trying to salvage dinner the other two are under Neath . This is where the food was when they asked for pictures. Garbage was only place this was fit.

Ordered multiple pizza's one had wrong toppings Ordered extra cheese and never got that totally under cooked what a disappointment last time I'll order from there thought it would be better than that especially when i had there slices now those were really good what a waste of money only thing they were fit for was the garbage

Hours of operation on the business website, and on here, for 3 Brothers are wrong! Those sources say close at 11 PM but when you arrive for a sit-down meal at 8:30 PM, the staff just rudely point to the sign outside your door for an 8:30 PM close, as if we can read that sign from our smartphones! We won't return. We had our sit-down meal down the road at Big's instead, whose online advertised hours match their actual hours. Heads up to re-train your rude staff and update your online business hours.

Went with a large group. Staff didn't seem prepared to handle 18 people. Food to close to an hour to arrive. Portions were small, price wasn't! Dishes arrived with no plate appeal. Just meals no garnishing and folks that got meals first were done eating by time last plate arrived. Complaints of over salted was common. Establishment could use some decor and decorations that consist of more that painting hung on wall with for sale stickers along side... Overall not pleased with lunch menu choices. Though supposed to be inspired by worldly dishes it seems to be more Mediterranean sprinkled with local options. Expected better.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal. Gary the server was friendly and very helpful. This restaurant truly has a variety of Newfoundland dishes and the pan fried cod was as fresh as one could ask for. The restaurant could use a more extensive wine list.

Lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. Service wasn't the most attentive (some members of the party wanted more drinks but waitress never returned during our meal), and since the place was mostly empty this seemed a bit off putting. However, overall I generally enjoy visiting this restaurant and will certainly go again.

Atmosphere, clever menu, top notch service, creative bar. Have come here on business annually for past 3 years, experience always consistently positive. One of my top 5 fav restaurants in the world. Really! Put yourself in their hands and you will have a great meal experience.

After being in St John's now for ~6 weeks I must start leaving reviews because 4 & 5 starts are consistently handed out here to underwhelming restaurants. Bacalao is one of them. Went in early for Sunday brunch, table for 2. The good: place is cozy. My dish (George Street special) was fine but that's about it, nothing spectacular. The bad: Cappuccino was average (much better coffee can be found elsewhere in STJ). My GF ordered the omelette of the day and it was mediocre (and missing the mushrooms). We make much better omelettes at home! Finally, we had to wait ages for a waitress once we wanted to get the check. It was early and few tables occupied so no idea why the long wait. Lastly, almost $60 for 2 egg dishes and 2 coffees (including tip) seems overpriced considering the quality/taste. I suggest you go somewhere else for brunch.

1st time having a white Russian. Linda the bartender was on point. Nice spot to enjoy a few drinks. Music was good. Old rock. Wish I lived closer.

Staff are on edge and have 0 people skills , they need to hire people with life experience rather than people who have barely left school. They have just lost 10 people's order , hope the owner can afford it , seems to be every week this . Maybe some training is in order.

I tried to go into Lotties today and was just pointed at to exit the door by the older female bartender. I didn’t even step foot into the bar before nor anything. I was just trying to enjoy one of their specialty White Russians, I would’ve given a better review, I had tons of money to spend in there and everything, I guess it’s cause I’m a little darker skinned or something but I don’t like how they just did that towards me.

Delicious white Russians!!! Also a great atmosphere, I had so much fun every time I wandered into this bar. I like the little area where you can dance too. Great times had at Lottie's for sure. Will definitely come back on my next trip to NL.

We ordered to pickup up, called to ask a few questions, we struggled a bit to get the call in but when they answered they were very nice and helpful. Food was delicious, we ordered online for four people: - 2 extra large fries - 2 large fish - 1 shrimp appetizer - 2 large gravy - 2 large dressing We had wash my to many fries left, one dressing and half gravy as leftover. And we all were super full. We picked up our food late ofter ready and we still drove for 20min before eating. Even with all this waiting the food was great! We love the fries seasoning with the breadcrumbs, I have never seen something like that on fires but we love it, very well seasoned with all the herbs. Greasy was amazing, fish was flaky and tasty. The only complaint is that the shrimps were quite small for the price. The service when picking up was also very nice and friendly, and they packed the food in a very nice way! I hope we can try them again dining in

Keith's will not disappoint! We had a small wait which we were given the buzzer for so we could wait in our vehicle. A short time later we were seated. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Our meals, large & hot, came out in no time. Delicious. Couldn't ask for better. Hands down recommend Keith's!

I can see why this Diner has been in business for over 60 years, the food is delicious! It does not disappoint. Huge portions as well. I wanted to experience fish and chips deluxe and I definitely got to here. The gravy, stuffing, chips, onions and peas were perfect. Can't wait to go back and eat this again!

Met with waitress right away and was seated at a table. Shortly after being seated there was a large line of people waiting. Come early as this place fills up quickly. We ordered fish and chips - the fish was great but the fries were soggy and no flavour - Needed Salt or vinegar. They offer tartar sauce in packets - they need to make their own sauce as this is a fish restaurant. The price and fair for what you are getting. Waitress was quick and to the point.

A local favourite based on the wait list! This is a very good local diner with an amazing clubhouse sandwich. They do fries with gravy and stuffing very well. The service is quick and friendly. Expect to wait if you’re going at busy times.

I had the BBQ chicken poutine and it was incredible. Huge portion, super saucy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. This place is really popular so there was a bit of a wait for a table, so we decided to get takeout instead. Definitely worth it.

Quaint little pizza shop with donairs too! Pizza by the slice or even take home and bake pizza. They have a wide selection of pop available. I got the donair, and was puzzled in its presentation but once I got over that, the meal was quite yummy.

After a long drive from Toronto, we arrived at this place hoping to enjoy a shawarma plate and wrap. To our surprise, both the shawarma plate and wrap were essentially the same, with the only difference being a side dish. Unfortunately, our side of fries was stale. The shawarma wrap itself was made with cold, thick bread, and the shawarma chicken was also cold. Overall, the food was very disappointing.

Gluten friendly pizza options are delicious. Very friendly staff. Quick service.

On top of paying $3 for extra parmesan on a salad, they didn’t even give me half my sauce , smh

Definitely feels like takeaway is the most common for this establishment, I'm sure with the pandemic most ppl were ordering via phone and doing pickup as it was really easy to do so here. Ordered a pizza with the works and it was big, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. Having 12 slices is more than enough for 3 people who like to eat and 4 people who have smaller stomachs. There's a good variety of food here and if I was in cornerbrook for a couple days I would definitely try them as so many locals picked up a variety of food from here. The pizza was top notch and would come back just for it.

Had a medium meatlovers pizza. The crust was terrible the toppings were not cooked enough. What happened this place used to be good. Not any more. I had a super Bonaire with two extra donair sauce last week $25. That is highway robbery.

Tim hortons is the best place to go for friendly smiles, amazing tea. Delicious food. (But an old fashioned plane donut cut it like a baggle put butter on it & pop it in the microwave) better than any cookie. Swing by and say hi, get a tea or coffee (you won’t regret it)

Staff are very nice, environment is clean and organized.

The donuts were fresh and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by their coffee. I am very picky about coffee and Tim Hortons is one of very few places that make a coffee that I enjoy drinking without cream or sugar. It was perfect.

ALL the tables were filthy and the floors… pretty bad. If they can’t staff for the sit down restaurant they should close it and operate as a drive through.

Hands down, the best poutine experience I've had in St. John's! The fries were crispy, the cheese curds were squeaky, and the gravy was rich and flavorful. But what truly elevated this dish was the exceptional service provided by Vidhey. His friendly demeanor and dedication to crafting the perfect poutine made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Very dark inside, even in the middle of the day. Smelled kind of musty or moldy, so we elected to eat outside. Dispensers were out of napkins and forks, which just complimented the general vibe that this place has passed its prime. Regular poutine was decent, and the cheese curd was fresh and squeaky. Even so, it was just kind of “meh” and I didn’t feel compelled to eat it all (nor did anyone else in the group, which was strange). Water Street, in general, just feels tired and on the downside of what it once was. It was kind of depressing for lunch hour on a Monday.

As someone new to Canada, this is the poutine place we were recommended, and the first place where we had poutine and liked it. We tried the traditional one, for starters - will update as I get to try other stuff they offer. You cannot miss Smoke's Poutinerie while walking down Water Street - it's a nice place, colourful and clean. Understaffed, as we saw only one person working, but considering we were the only customers - fair enough. The walls are painted with pop culture references and quirkiness - and so are their promotions. Otherwise, there's not much to talk about atmosphere - feels mostly generic.

This place is probably your best bet to get a good poutine downtown. The only other one I've had that's downtown that I would consider better is at the Mary Brown's Centre. Firstly, the service was awesome. I didn't catch the guy's name but he was the only one working on a Friday night, and he was killing it. He was fast and friendly and everything was fresh. The atmosphere was okay. The bathroom is where I had an issue. There was no hot or warm water. Like no water came out when you turned the tap. There was barely any soap left, and there was no toilet paper or paper towel in there. However it was pretty busy and the guy was working alone so you can't fault him. The dining area was clean though. The food was actually good! The fries are really tasty! We got the boneless chicken wings and they were gross. They're just frozen chicken nuggets from Costco, the chicken has a disgusting texture. Our poutine also had a piece of cardboard in it. I thought at first it was a piece of potato skin but as I was chewing it, I noticed it tasted really bad and was impossible to chew, so I spit it out .When I looked it was most definitely cardboard. That's disgusting. Overall I'd come here again and try a different time and a different type of poutine. Also the food in the photos came to $27 after tax for anyone who's wondering.

Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The poutine I ordered was of poor quality and didn’t meet my expectations, especially considering the high price I paid. On top of that, the strong ginger flavor in the poutine was completely unexpected and wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu. When I raised the issue, they replaced the poutine, but unfortunately, the new one had the same problem. In the end, when I asked to speak with the management, they decided to refund the full amount, which I appreciate. I hope this restaurant focuses more on food quality and ensuring it aligns with the menu descriptions in the future.

We were served by very friendly staff member. Place is very cozy and warm. Lots of locals guests with families and kids too. Interiors are nice and inviting. Lots is smiling and happy guests having daily specials. Plenty of parking spaces. Locals are friendly courteous. Recommended for great service and good food.

We visited Fogo Island for two nights and discovered there are not a lot of options for food. We attempted to order takeout from here the first night. A lady rudely answered the phone and asked me to hold - 10 minutes later and was still left on hold. I hung up and tried to call back and it was busy for quite some time. Ended up getting take out from somewhere else. Decided to still give this place a try the next day for breakfast. We walked in and sat ourselves. A lady came over and slammed down some menus and walked away. We sat there for about 10 minutes waiting, and realized that the other people dining there had got up to serve themselves coffee, so we did the same. Finally the lady came back to take our order. I ordered The Bay breakfast and asked for poached eggs, she said the cook could not make poached eggs, so went with the scrambled eggs. When we received our food the scrambled eggs were very burnt and had obviously stuck to the pan, they were awful. Bacon, hashbrowns, toast and coffee was fine. Felt like I had to tip otherwise might anger the same lady. Overall it was not a great experience. I understand they are short staffed (based on the signs they have posted up on the walls), but there is no reason to be rude or have an attitude. If you are short staffed, you can still kindly seat people and let them know they are welcome to help themselves to coffee and that you will be with them as soon as you can.

Took our family of six here for lunch. Got seated right away, which was great! Servers were super friendly and helpful. But then we waited over an hour for our food (none of which was that complicated). Other patrons came, ordered, ate, and left before we got our order. Fries 🍟 were clearly frozen from a bag. Despite being on the island, cod wasn’t fresh (quite chewy), and lots of little things like that. It wasn’t horrible, it was just extremely lackluster—so the long wait completely killed the experience. Had it at least been quick, then the frozen fried food may have balanced, but to wait an hour for food to dip into the fryer (without a lot of other patrons in the dining room) was a total bummer. I wouldn’t come back here to eat. Summary: friendly servers, but not great service.

If you’re into fish and chips this is one of the best places in the whole province for it. This is our third time here. We discovered this place two years ago. The fish is fresh and well cooked and well seasoned. Will be back for more tonight!

Waitress was very friendly and did her best to accommodate everyone. We were first to be seated after opening and first to place order. We ordered a breakfast soup and fries, which we thought would be easy to prepare. After 45 min we merely inquired as to how much longer it would take and was told by a very rude cook that our wait was because of homemade fries and that there were 4 orders ahead of us, that puzzled us. Take out orders we’re going through the door and yet not one person in the dining room had any food. Can’t rate the food cause we had the leave without having any. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant, won’t be back

My daughter and I had a fish burger sandwich with fries. If there was an ounce and a half of fish in the batter it woul surprise us. My daughter said Dad there’s no fish in my sandwich so I took a look and there wasn’t even an ounce of fish in hers. These cost $17.99 and wasn’t worth $1.99. If you want to attract customers to your restaurant you should stop being too frugal over the pice of fish and give them a half decent portion. Yes we know you need to make money but not at the expense of reviews like this. I am a retired instructor of cooking and have been a professional chef for more than 40 years. I have never had such a cheap overall meal like the one we had at this restaurant. My wife had a 2 piece fish and chip and again hardly 2 ounces of fish in the batter which was over cooked and almost completely hard at the ends because of the lack of fish in the batter. We all had fries which looked like half were previously cooked twice and then they added a few new ones to mix in with them. I read other reviews about this restaurant and they were saying how good the food was. Well in my experience it was a very poor meal to serve to customers who came there because of the reviews. Oh and I also ordered mussels and that was a big mistake because they were so overcooked and tasted so fishy that it made me wonder if they were frozen first or cooked first then frozen and cooked again. Needless to say it will never happen again and if people read this then be wary of reviews that embellish this restaurant as good.

The food was horrible. I'm not sure if that's the norm at the place, or if it was a one-off situation. We got the fish & chips, as well as the fish sandwich. Both were overcooked (or the oil was reused too many times) to the point it was too hard to bite into. The fries consisted of odd ends and bits, and half of it was not edible. It was certainly not worth the price. The staff was nice though
