Delicious food, great cocktails, friendly staff and a fabulous view. Went there for my birthday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed myself, and even got a birthday song. Will be back next time we're in town. Lots of great seafood options which were fresh fresh and included some native additions, good selection for kids and a delicious looking vegetarian/vegan menu as well.

Loved this place, situated in an idyllic spot overlooking Nelson Bay. Watching the late afternoon light merge into sunset made for a delightful experience. Our meal started with Shark Bay half shell scallops with candied blood orange and jamon. This turned out to be a perfect blend of flavours. The other entree was rare sliced house smoked duck breast with citrus, radicchio, cherry caramel and wattle hazelnut. It tasted delightful. Following this, the main course consisted of fresh local sword fish with spinach and ricotta ravioli in saffron pasta, saffron beurre blanc, broccoli, blistered tomato and toasted pepita. We chose the recommended wine with each course and were not disappointed. Dessert was a tasting plate for two with a sample of each desert. Accompanied by coffee, this was a pleasant way to finish the meal. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and are happy to recommend this delightful restaurant.

We celebrated our anniversary here. We were sat overlooking the water which was beautiful. The staff were amazing and super inviting. Food and drinks were delicious. Chicken supreme and Cauliflower risotto are a must. Can't wait to visit again!

The entire experience was amazing. Sherwin really looked after us. Not too much and not too little attention. From the get go, he knew our names and had a great attitude. The black ink squid spaghetti with the halopenos was just perfect, as well as the fresh oysters. Thank you Dean for running such a great restaurant. We WILL return...

My partner and I shared an anniversary dinner here tonight and everything was fantastic, service was lovely and the food was amazing. We had beautiful seating overlooking the water sunset as well! We shared the 3 course set menu and thoroughly enjoyed the lamb rib, ravioli, pork belly, market fish (Murray cod), panna cotta, and the Black Forest semifreddo, everything was quick, hot, and delicious. They were also very easily able to accommodate my dairy allergy which is always immensely appreciated!! We will be sure to be back next time we are in the Nelson Bay area!

Wine varied, offering recommendations to be enjoyed with each course, if that’s your vibe. We had the Riesling with the delicious fish of the day. You cannot beat the views, perfect. We went to the cafe for breakfast. The cafe is located outside of Hotel Nelson. The decor and the atmosphere were good. We order the Nelson special, burritos and 2 coffees. The coffees came out quite fast, but not sure why my matcha latte was in the paper cup? The waiters were quite busy, so I didn’t want to bother them. However we had to wait at least 25 mins for our meals, the waiter and I made an eye contact before I was going to hassle her about our meals. The serving of Nelson special was generous for $29. The bacon in burrito was a bit salty, and it could do with some more salad or vegetables. The coffee was nice though.

We came in towards end of service for lunch and the food was excellent. The prawn linguine and the acai bowl were both delicious and great value. Our food arrived quickly and we never felt rushed. Every time we come back to Nelson Bay, we drop in here for a bite and have never been disappointed.

We stopped by The Little Nel Cafe and really enjoyed our breakfast! We ordered the Shishito Scrambled Eggs and Eggs Benedict, and both were delicious. The shishito scrambled eggs had a nice, mild kick from the peppers and were creamy and well-seasoned, a fresh twist on regular scrambled eggs. The Eggs Benedict was classic and tasty, with perfectly poached eggs and a rich hollandaise sauce that wasn’t too heavy. The vibe of the cafe was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed morning. Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend for a chill breakfast spot in town.

This breakfast place was one of the recommended places to go to when we're in Nelson Bay. So we decided to give it a go, apart from slow service the food was good. We ordered some items through the counter while waiting, but even after we got a table and informed the table no, they still served the coffee in a takeaway container with no table service. Recommended: Smashed avocado on sourdough.

My new favourite place @thelittlenel in #portstephens Nelson bay. With a brilliant menu it was hard to choose and plates so big I had to takeaway my leftovers. Food, coffee and juice was delicious and I love the little touch of having throws to keep warm while we ate in their beautiful patio setting. Looking forward to visiting over and over and making my way through the exciting menu choices.

Food was well served with good flavors. Service was prompt and outdoor sitting was cosy.

As recent new residents in Nelson Bay we have tried Little Nel on five occasions, with very mixed experiences. Visit 1, the wait time for a coffee was far too long. Visit 2, the coffee came on time but the banana bread didn’t come at all until we asked at the counter. Visit 3 was lunch and that was ok, good food and service was swift, but asking for a carafe for the water was problematic for the staff and when they found one rather than bring it to the table, the server just pointed to the water station and said you pick it up yourself. Visit 4, food and service were good, but it was a Tuesday and a quiet lunch. However, visit 5 exposed the lack of customer service. We have a small dog so can only sit in a few locations outside. But the floor was messy with plant debris. We asked if they had a broom to clear a bit for him to sit under the table and they said no, so we moved to a different table and because he then sat on the bench with us they said he couldn’t sit there and had to go on the floor (the floor that they couldn’t be bothered to sweep quickly). So we left. Unfortunately the attitudes of the young staff is lacking, with very little care for the customer that would have spent close to $100 that day. Although we want to support local businesses, this is an example of one that must lift its game to build loyalty. Sadly, that’s the last time we will try Little Nel. For anyone wanting breakfast or lunch I would suggest The Home Interior or Magnolia where the food and service are consistently excellent.

Excellent and delicious food. Eating the food made me want to come again. The food I recommend is the prawn and the the meat combo. The food was great and their service was great. They were really friendly and served without hostility. It was a bit slow but other than that I recommend this place.

We went to the restaurant for dinner, the atmosphere is nice. We ordered prawn pasta, it had plenty of prawn, however it’s too salty. The fish of the day was nice, but the serving would be more generous, The duck spring rolls were average, not enough filling inside. For 2 people we ordered 3 dishes, the bill was nearly $100 without any drink.

Maybe the food is better when eating in but as for take away, both times ordering schnitzels and calamari they came soaked in oil, obviously they are fried but the amount of oil was sickly. The chicken parmigiana was basically cheese with maybe a teaspoon of red sauce and the duck spring rolls (photo) are x3 mini spring rolls, no better than a frozen pack from Woolies, with a handful of salad and a couple of sauces for $21. I understand prices are expensive these days, but $21 for a dish that would cost maybe $1 to serve is a joke.

Best seafood I have had in some time. Fresh perfectly cooked most tender calamari. You must try the prawn cocktails

I came from Sydney for the weekend it was my second visit, and I loved it even more this time. Penny, who looked after me, she was so professional, friendly, and attentive. Her warm smile and kind attitude honestly made my day. The steak was delicious, the coffee was great, and the whole place was bright, clean, and beautifully designed. The manager was also very welcoming and genuine. Everything was just perfect definitely one of the best places I’ve visited in the area . I’ll be coming back for sure!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶

We had a beautiful yummy meal with great service - Tayla was such a lovely waitress! Super sweet, always smiling and made us feel right at home. The location was also perfect, thanks team for being so awesome — we’ll definitely be back!

We had dinner upstairs at the Country Club Hotel and it was such a great experience! Tegan, the manager, was absolutely amazing — so friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. You can really tell she cares about the guests and runs things beautifully. And a big shoutout to the lovely girl with the New Zealand accent — she was just as fantastic! So kind, helpful, and full of good vibes all night. Thanks to the whole team for making it such an easy, relaxed, and enjoyable night. We’ll definitely be back!

Shoal Bay Country Club is one of the most beautiful seaside spots to relax and enjoy great food in Port Stephens. Had the most amazing service by a young girl called grace. We came in for breakfast that morning then she served us again at our friends wedding. The venue is amazing from the food to the venue to the staff will definitely be coming back

Ordered the seafood basket for two, very disappointed the panko crumb prawns not too bad but so much calamari and over supply of chips and some of the fish escaped from the batter for $72 we could only eat a small portion. Just not nice. The only happy part was meeting Lisa she is a delight

Undoubtably the number one venue in Port Stephens for food and entertainment. Also attached is the Ramada, a high-end accommodation venue. This place has the best views and the best bands out of anywhere in Port Stephens. Book lunch at the bistro upstairs and check out the chicken wings and cocktails.

Prawn bisque managed to capture the essence of prawn which was nice ! went well with their toasted bread however there was only 1 small slice of bread, more would've been preferable. squid was tender and fresh. For guests, I would salt the bisque more to bring out the flavour of the prawn. Location 5 Flavours 4 Service 4

Saltwater Restaurant Fingal Bay were amazing for our wedding! We’d actually been to the restaurant once before we even got engaged and loved it, so it was an easy decision to have our wedding there. The staff were so friendly and easy to communicate with from start to finish. They handled everything perfectly on the day and were really flexible when the timings changed when photos finished a little earlier than planned. We paid the extra for the setup service and they did such a great job with that as well. The food and drinks were incredible, and the staff were friendly during the tasting beforehand. One staff even went out of their way to give us a hand gathering items the next day, which we really appreciated and another helped when dropping off items. Couldn’t recommend them more!

We had our wedding at Saltwater and it was absolutely incredible! The team was so organised and made the whole day run seamlessly. The food was divine, our guests are still raving about the perfectly cooked steaks! Every part of the night flowed perfectly thanks to their timing and professionalism. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the bridal suite was such a beautiful, calm space to have available. The location itself is stunning, with the most amazing views. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, so well organised and truly unforgettable! Thanks team Saltwater !

This place was better a number of years ago. It still has the great panoramic views, and service is friendly enough, but the quality of the food and value for money has gone way down. Case in point was the "nasi goreng" on their menu, which was a Frankenstein monstrosity. The rice tasted like a second rate Indian Biryani, no Indonesian flavours at all. The fried chicken accompanying it was literally just some bland chopped up chicken schnitzel, the fried egg (which was asked to be a little bit runny) was in fact still sporting clear albumin gel, and it was all served with a garden salad with a tangy balsamic dressing, which was just totally out of place. Clearly the chef has never actually tasted a proper nasi goreng and doesn't understand Indonesian flavours. We were in a large group and of the dozen or so meals varying meals served up, the only ones which were passable were the basic pasta dishes. The food didn't do the location justice, and at this price point, one expects better. Avoid.

Great for coeliacs! My husband and I got married at Saltwater and we go back every year for our anniversary and are never disappointed. The food, venue and service is exceptional! My husband is coeliac and lactose intolerant and they cater to him beautifully.

What a delightful restaurant. The views were so beautiful. The staff were super friendly and helpful. My hubbie had grilled Barra which was tasty and cooked superbly. I had the salad bowl which had a great assortment of flavours. Was a perfect lunch stop

We really wanted to love this place. However, the food was average, and considering that it was peak holiday time, not all things on the menu were available. My fish burger repeated on me for hours afterwards, the crust of the pizza and the woodfired bread was delicious. However, the toppings of the pizza did not taste very good for whatever reason. I ordered a cocktail, every place I go I order a dirty vodka martini, and it was probably one of the worst ones I’ve had. The location was fantastic and the venue itself was lovely. The young man that seated us was also lovely. If you love food, and that is an important part of your experience, then this may not be the place for you.

The food was a major let down with this venue. The bar attendant and atmosphere was actually quite nice, however the quality and exorbitant price of the food was a major problem. The marinated olives were straight Kalamata olives from a jar - no marination what so ever. When questioned about this, the response was they were marinated in olive oil and lemon juice. Straight up lie. No olive oil or lemon, just left over brine. The pork bites? don’t bother. They taste good, however you get 4 or 5 of them and they are very small. Not a “bite” size, more like a “nibble” size. I’m not even going to start with the mains. Pumpkin risotto lacks pumpkin. The ‘cost’ to ‘food quantity’ ratio is way off. I need not go on. There was a lot of good aspects to this place. However the food was just so incredibly disappointing and made the overall rating and experience quite poor, especially for what seems to be a nice place.

Solid schnitty. Chicken was cooked perfectly, chips and slaw were tasty. Could have done with a bit more slaw. And choosing the pepper sauce probably wasn't my best idea 😅 Should have stuck with gravy or mushroom. My partner has a pizza and wow the tomato base was super juicy and sweet 🤤

We attended the Melbourne Cup event at Cheeky Dog. What a brilliant function. Cooper, Corbin and the whole team made the whole event a huge success. The venue was well organised, the food was absolutely sensational and the whole atmosphere was electric. Then after the big race, the band Tin City rocked out some fantastic tunes. What a great event so thank you to all involved.

Every time we come here the food leaves a lot to be desired, the quality, size and the inability to cook things properly. For a $28 cheeseburger I’d expect something more than an over cooked minuscule puck of beef and a small handful of chips. For a place that ties itself to a Rick Stein institution they seem to carry the prices, but not the results.

We ordered take away back to bannisters hotel. The only saving grace was the desert. We ordered the aricinni which was so tiny. 3 tiny pieces and basically spaghetti sauce on top. The hallomi was ok not the worst I've ever had but nothing to write home about. And the main course pumpkin risotto was horrible. Tasted like a frozen meal. No flavour or redeeming features. Honestly the frozen coles one is better. I would also say the portion size is tiny however it didn't matter because we couldn't eat it. The sticky date was the saving thing but 80 bucks for take away dinner where the main went in the bin. Not sure if we will return.

Great food, staff and atmosphere. We stayed at the Big 4 across the road and thought we’d pop across the road for dinner. There was at least 20 in our group. We were seated with ease, the food came out quickly and was delicious. Plenty of drink choices. Some of our group went back for lunch over the weekend. Thank you for hosting us.

Located in the luxury soldiers point marina. Food was good. Especially sea food was fresh and tasty. They have various cocktails and mocktails menu too. The staffs were extra polite and friendly. I didn't take photos of atmosphere due to too many diners. LOL

We love Restaurant 2317! Tonight we experienced the scrumptious Autumn menu. My husband Andy commented to the delightful server: “If it wasn’t impolite I would have licked the plate!” We always time our visit with the stunning sunset and with atmosphere, food and service - we think it’s the best in the bay! We had a street dinner at Restaurante 2317. Our whole street turned up. The food was fantastic. Some neighbours said it was expensive for kids especially if they didn’t each much. But overall we had a great evening. With 2 drinks each and 3 courses we paid about $150 each.

We have been a couple of times now and it is always an extraordinary experience, right from the time you walk in being welcomes by friendly staff always attentive to our needs. This time around was Fathers Day brekkie and again did not disappoint! A true testament to the dedication of their team from wait staff, to the kitchen crew & management!

Dined on my own here last night. Food was excellent. Would highly recommend the sashimi and the seafood platter for one. Likewise, the service was friendly, and welcoming. It was a busy Sunday evening, yet all dishes were served up with perfect timing. I would highly recommend Restaurant 2317 to anyone spending time in the area, and look forward to returning soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Restaurant 2317. It was our third visit and it never disappoints. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy being the Australia Day long weekend our host Dean went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed. The Passionfruit Soufflé was divine. I can’t wait to visit again when I’m next at Salamander Bay. We also love the sister restaurant Little Beach Boathouse but we can walk to Restaurant 2317!

The staff were lovely, the food was ok for the price. We were looking for some fresh local seafood, we were sorry we chose Mavericks for seafood. The oysters Kirkpatrick were plump and creamy, some had shell in them, the sauce was too overpowering. The hot pot was ok. Only 1 muscle, it was so small , wasn't worth eating. There was plenty of squid, prawns and scallops, the fish had alot of brown flesh, The music and location were fantastic

Ambience is great with the place view of the marina from every angle while dining. Food though for the price, I'd say mediocre, we had garlic bread, that if it didn't have the olive oil/balsamic vinegar would have been very bland barely taste the garlic on the bread, kids steak is what you'd expect my daughter said "it's ok" she didn't touch the chips, salad which I usually have is funny, my wife had her usual seafood marinara she was looking forward to this but was extremely disappointed, pasta taste like Asian noodles stir fry that lacks that marina flavour maybe due to the lack of seafood in it, no muscles just a few pieces of prawns, our description for this would be egg noodles with olive oil dressing and prawns, it is not all bad though, the oysters I ordered turned out great! Oysters with Japanese dressing. Perfect mix of ponzu seaweed and seasoning and the Oysters meat is huge. Pricey maybe because of the view, serving sizes not that generous for the price.

Excellent live music on Sunday, the musician really got the crowd up and dancing and singing along, great place to chill, have a drink and people watch. The view other than the people, out the window is spectacular, looking out into the boats in the marina. Recommend

This restaurant conveniently don’t take any phone calls. Customers are told to email which I find very poor service. I ordered a seafood plate which was nice but small BUT was acceptable. As for the deconstructed pavlova, I need to say it was LAZY….was not as described at all. Broken bought pavlova with strawberry topping and ONE strawberry cut into quarters. An absolute disgrace considering the prices here. I’ve emailed BUT as you’d imagine they haven’t returned my emailed complaint. I was in a metered car park and couldn’t find anyone to complain to before I left. Very ordinary, certainly a Maverick. A deconstructed pavlova normally has at least passionfruit and fresh fruit. Strawberry topping, a blob of ice cream and a strawberry doesn’t cut it. We need to not accept this extortionate pricing for lazy effort by chef or cook.

Disappointing. Had salt and pepper calamari, it was tasteless and underdone. My husband had the seafood basket. Hollow batter with little fish inside. Chips were tasteless. Poor choice for us on holiday today. Only positive was it is in a good position.

DO NOT DINE HERE!! The worst dining experience I've had. Carpet smells like wee. Dust on all fans and lights. Glasses were dirty. Awful food and flat Pepsi advertised as coke. Thick tastless sashimi covered in tasteless sauce. Overcooked baby octopus and chewy scallops. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUTDOWN

The venue was very nice , staff were fantastic , my Barramundi wasn't cooked very well , skin wasn't crispy and flesh was " soggy " , looked good though .My partners Lobster Mornay was , i thought very expensive at $90 a half , but she said it was cooked very well and probably the best shes ever had , so .. money worth spent .

We had a seafood platter for two after the receptionist at the resort we stayed at recommended it. The service was great, restaurant was clean. The platter was probably 7-8 out of 10. Everything but the prawns were good, they were very large tiger prawns and very old and tough. I know restaurants probably use large prawns for the look but we would prefer a small to medium prawn as they are normally a lot tastier.

What a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. Despite the great location and views the food and service was dreadful. We arrived the restaurant had only 3 people dining with 3 waitresses. Our party of 12 arrived and we could not get service to order drinks. When we complained the chef came out and declared that we had no right to complain because it was his daughter and it is hard to get staff. For the next hour and a half the waitresses did not smile or were pleasant. The food was poor to average at best. The chef leave the premises and the waitresses took our desert orders. Which was just tasteless frozen cakes heated up in a microwave. I paid the bill which was $1,522 for poor service and food. Never again. Do not go to this place.

I’m really saddened to not enjoy this place as i wanted to love it as my last dinner in nelson bay, the food was really a let down nothing i ordered was enjoyable, for starters, the sashimi wasn’t really sashimi it looked more like offcuts or cut into tiny pieces, the bbq octopus was overcooked and not enjoyable, also to mention the small portions , the mains were just as bad , my fish was overcooked not crispy skin i did ask for a new one which the waiter kindly accommodated, the risotto wasn’t enjoyable tasted like a paella i’ve had from aldi nothing much to it, and the mahi mahi was similar overcooked and nothing that makes it worth the $43 dollars, im okay with spending money but as long as the food is enjoyable and makes my night , this made the end to my trip dissapointing

The steak and ribs are supposed to be amazing but we just needed something light The team were bright, happy, attentive and knew everything about thier offering and even went out of their way for one of my random requests. Hog's Breath Café Nelson Bay is still a local favourite and open unlike many of the HBC's located up and down our east coast. Overall the food is good, price reasonable and drinks priced well, especially happy hour. For it's market HBC Nelson Bay is a great dining option with an excellent marina location. Yes, some of the outdoor dining area does need some renovations.

I had the mega prime rib steak (400g), which is their special 18hr cooked steak. I would definitely recommend it. The steak was full of flavour, tender and delicious. The sauce was tasty and the mash was great. You can pick 2 side dishes. We haven’t been to Hogs breath for a number of years, but will be back to this one….

Our table ordered a Chicken Fiesta Bowl, two steaks with salad and mash, and a cheeseburger with salad and mash, followed by delicious desserts. Everything was cooked beautifully and full of flavour. The menu offers something for everyone, with plenty of vegetarian options, some vegan choices, and even low-gluten meals, which was such a bonus. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality was excellent for the price — definitely great value for money. Service was friendly and attentive without being rushed, and the kids felt really welcome, which made the whole experience even better. Cherished childhood memory. Steak is still surprisingly good. Like really good. Macaroni and cheese the best I’ve ever had.

The staff were very Friendly and welcoming, but food was pretty average for the price... The Beef fiesta salad was good, but overpriced. there was a nice fireplace which made the experience a bit better.

We’ve had an amazing experience dining at Nigronis. Very welcoming and great atmosphere. We were seated a bit earlier in the evening and have never regretted our choice. The service was quick. All the meals were exceptionally good. Portions were large and fresh, with lots of ingredients. We’re very excited to come back next time. Our appreciation to the Nigronis team — they’re excellent. We ordered lamb with baked potato, pasta boscaiola, and bruschetta as a starter.

Went for breakfast and was very satisfied. Ordered the poached eggs and toast and a latte. Coffee was great with a good roast flavour. Eggs tomato and toast hit the spot. Perfect quantity for what I needed. Wife had the smashed avo which she loved, especially the relish with it. Service was good and welcoming.

We arrived and ordered around 7:30pm, and the first dish which was a pasta came at 9pm… I asked the waitress how much longer I need to wait for the food at 8:37pm, she said very soon, and that turned out to be at 9pm. The pizza and pasta I ordered tasted alright but the overall experience for waiting time is just terrible. I came here at 7: 30pm to have dinner, not 9pm supper. Sorry but I wouldn’t want anyone or myself to experience this kind of waiting time ever again.

Our experience started with an amazing service, and continued with an amazing Greek Salad made with high quality Vegetables and oil and cheese the salad was amazing! Pizza wasn’t the best but nice and thin. Highly recommend there Greek Salad.

Food we had was really good, the pizza was topped very well. Place has a nice little bar as well if you want drinks :) Staff was every friendly. Although a lot of things on their menu had items that weren't available cause of lack of ingredients. The only thing I can say is that the food took a long time to come out, and the atmosphere is nice but still feels very empty even if it's busy. Apart from that, I'd definitely recommend you try this place.

I went during the off-tourist season, so the atmosphere was calm and low key. The food was good and juicy, not great but it was hearty and fills you up (albeit it being pricey). The location is beautiful and the servers very nice.

The Thai female staff was very lovely and provided good service. The food was delicious, especially the stir-fried basil and steamed fish (I can't remember the name of the dish). The restaurant was large and had a good atmosphere.

Was looking forward for a good Thai meal. Sadly, best way I can describe this place is "Thai Inspired." Fried rice was wet, Tom Yum was on the sweeter side. Service was ok and resto had good space and was clean. But I wouldn't call this place an Authentic Thai Restaurant.

Visited Mod Thai for the second time — all the way from Sydney! The food was delicious as always, and the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming- Noon and kristel ☺️. They even surprised me with sweets as a token of love for my birthday. Such a thoughtful gesture! Highly recommend this place for both great food and warm hospitality. 💖

Over many years of holidays spent in Nelson Bay, Mod Thai Nelson Bay has been our go to outlet for take away and in-house dining. A second outlet in Shoal Bay which we haven’t visited. An extensive everyday menu including a limited selection as a daily lunch special. Excellent quality and very generous servings nicely presented for in-house dining. On this visit we ordered a Red and a Green Chicken curry with coconut milk takeaway from the lunch special menu. Perfect level of mild spiciness just right for our taste. Our lunch specials came with steamed Jasmine rice. Excellent.

I was really looking forward to a flavorful Thai meal, but unfortunately ModThai missed the mark. The red curry I ordered lacked both the signature spice and color—it wasn’t red at all, more like a pale imitation. Even more surprising was the use of uncooked pumpkin in both dishes I tried. I’ve never encountered that in any Thai cuisine before, and it made the texture quite unpleasant. Overall, the food didn’t deliver the authentic Thai flavors I expected. A real letdown, especially given the promising menu. Hopefully they revisit their recipes and preparation methods.

Friendly and prompt service. Busy Tuesday night. Had starters of curry puffs and prawns. Both dishes delicious and this was followed up by 10/10 mains. Chicken pad thai and Lemon chicken. Food very fresh and cooked to perfection and the price is actually super cheap. Very impressed, thankyou

What a wonderful couple of days at the Anchorage Hotel Port Stephens. The Galley Kitchen was five star. The food, service and staff were as good as it gets. Nothing was too much trouble.

We had dinner at The Galley Kitchen in the resort while we stayed there for a long weekend. For entrée, we had seared scallops and tempura broccolini—both were incredibly delicious! I was surprised to see that this restaurant only has a 3.8-star rating on Google Maps. I booked it without any expectations but was open to trying it since we didn’t feel like going out. For the main course, I had the fish of the day, which was snapper. It was incredibly fresh. Initially, the mention of sweet and sour sauce on the menu didn’t appeal to me, but I wanted to have fish, so I gave it a try. Surprisingly, the sauce wasn’t overly sweet and actually complemented the dish beautifully, especially with the salad and crunchy macadamia. My husband had the eye fillet, which was perfectly cooked to medium rare. By the end of the meal, we were so full that the birthday boy didn’t want any cake or dessert. We left with happy tummies! This is a great place to dine in Port Stephens - tech and yummy food and good service. It definitely deserves a higher rating—maybe we should give them 5 stars to help push it over 4! Next day after the summit walk, we went back to the hotel for lunch around 2:15pm. I had a prawn salad that came with six big, super fresh prawns! The bowl was massive. My husband had a steak sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. Surprisingly, the bread was way better than a typical steak sandwich! I had mojito mocktale. It had honey at the bottom of the drink which was so nice.

We had a fabulous family dinner at The Galley restaurant. We shared the seafood tower, Singapore chilli bugs and kingfish crudo between 4 people. The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. Service and ambience also great.

Let me start with how amazing the service was. They were so nice and accommadating, great personalities that you could really have a chat with. The food..... OH WOW! Could not fault anything. Everything was so scrumptious and tantalised the taste buds with every bite. The outlook is so beautiful and relaxing. You could just sit back and soak in everything

Overall we had a really nice dinner experience here. The seafood platter is their signature dish, it very generous and it was hard to believe it was for only one person. The cold platter with the oysters, prawns, bugs etc was amazing whilst the hot plate wasn’t as nice (fish cakes were a little salty, fish was a bit dry) it was still excellent value and highly recommended. You can probably feed two people with this and comes with a really nice salad. The chilli mud crab was perfectly cooked but the sauce was a bit too salty and probably not worth paying $150. We ordered some flat bread which was nice and the roast pork entree was pretty good. The kids meals there are excellent. Our kids ate really well and finished off with dessert. The restaurant staff were lovely and the view and setting is exceptional. I do rate this restaurant highly and would come back again.

Ordered açai bowls $18 each plus $3 for extra Nutella Waited 20 minutes and it was relatively quiet. People that ordered after us were getting their chips and coffees etc before us? Once received there was barely any açai, a smear of Nutella on top and the smallest cup ever?! Ridiculous. Won’t be going there again. Overpriced for what you get and the açai was pretty much runny liquid

Turned up on human whale day, so they were really busy.... Food and service was outstanding especially for them being under the pump. Definitely try the falafel bowl... Or/and the eggs Benedict.. with bacon..

Longboat is the one and only Cafe along the waterfront at Fingal Bay. As such, the location is perfect, but the lack of competition it a problem. Longboat had outdoor tables baked in sunshine, takeout tables by the beach, and more tables inside. It's located almost literally on the beach and thus is blessed with an incredible location. The coffee was sadly underwhelming. There was almost no flavour to speak of (and I had both takeout and dine in a few hours apart), and latte art was average. I will say that the decaf tasted much better, so maybe their regular blend just needs dialing in. The food was good quality, but expensive. Without any local competition there's really no reason for them to lower their prices, but the price of their pancakes for example is frankly extortionate for 2 small pancakes. The staff were very friendly, highchairs were available and there was plenty of parking. If I was in the area I'd go back, but only because there's no alternative.

Seriously cannot fault this place. Locals doing their best with a smile on their face. We moved 4 months ago and it’s our favourite breakfast/lunch spot for sure. It is dog friendly too and there is a dog park just 2mins walk away where your pups can run free. Great food and great coffee, right next to the beach with loads of free parking. If you’re in Port Stephens, give them a go. You won’t regret it.

Nice cafe by the Fingal bay beach. The location is a plus as it is bang next to the beach. There is plenty of parking available. They have option for outdoor tables, indoor tables and takeaway window. The food is a bit of the pricey end as there are no other options close by. There is a bit of wait for food and coffee especially on a public holiday or weekends. Food and coffee could be better. The cafe is good for a beach cafe experience.

Lovely cafe in a great location. Had breakfast there yesterday (Sunday 25th May). My wife had the masala scramble, and she said it was awesome. Her coffee was good. I had the eggs benedict on mushroom. As someone who is not a big mushroom lover, it was fantastic! I'm not used to having a big crispy mushroom, but it was well worth it. My hot chocolate was awesome too. Staff were great, made sure our order was right. The only complaint is that a 15% surcharge on a Sunday makes it a bit steep, so we'll probably go on a different day in future.

Amazing experience at Taj Tandoori Indian Restaurant! I visited this evening with my friend and we were really impressed. We ordered a full serve of tandoori chicken along with some curries and naan — everything was absolutely delicious! We truly enjoyed our dinner and highly recommended for anyone who loves real desi food! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My wife and I enjoyed our meals emencly . Everything was cooked perfectly and the quality was exceptional. We are thinking of taking our friends there if we get chance as we are on a short holiday in Fingal Bay. The waiter did an excellent job as he had to contend with a constant stream of customers on his own. I expect a normal Tuesday night on a rainy day to be quiet for them. Its a bit pricey for the taste, service and ambience. Ordered 3 curries, starters, taste was not good, just edible. Butter chicken was not good. Paneer curry seemed to be old as paneer was dry and chewy. Breads were fine. Starters were OK. Service was slow on Friday evening. Staff was courteous. High chairs available, toilets are not kid friendly.

The only request I would like to make to the management is not to respond to negative reviews at all - just ignore them; not necessary and worth it. .

Best Part is you will get an authentic Indian food with a decent ambience and friendly staff. Starters quantity does not match the price tag on it. Few things are over priced not everything so you should be fine. They offer BYO but do charge $2.50 as a corkage fee per person.

Delicious Old-School Aussie Chinese at L’il Buddha – Salamander Bay We had a fantastic meal at L’il Buddha and it really hit the spot! If you’re craving a classic Aussie Chinese feast, this is the place. We started with prawn toast, which was crispy and full of flavour. Then came the honey prawns and sweet and sour pork—both done just right with that nostalgic, satisfying taste. The standout, though, was their special dish, Buddha Chicken—absolutely delicious! The portions were generous, everything was freshly cooked, and the flavours were spot on. A great spot for a comforting, tasty meal that delivers on flavour and value. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for a hearty, satisfying Chinese dinner.

I absolutely love coming here for a Succulent Chinese Meal, the food is incredibly authentic. The spices are always fresh and aromatic, the staff are friendly and helpful now that they have found their feet since opening. Wonderful place for some dinner and drinks, byo friendly. Two day ago I tried the L’il Buddhas lunch time menu for $14. I ordered the sweet and sour pork. The pork pieces were juicy and not dry. I was extremely satisfied with the dish. For an older person like myself I do not want a large proportion at lunch time.Your cannot beat the quantity and quality of the food for $14.

Parked out front, it was busy inside. Rang to order take away pizza, realised a man in his 30s ginger ish hair was taking my call, after saying what I wanted he asked me to hold, he walked to the back of the store out of sight, return to my vision moments later and I clearly seen him look at the landline he was holding and hang up as I hear the disconnect in my ear. I also could hear inside the shop as he mocked to his colleague about takeaway orders. So I went in pushing through the busy dining area to place an order with a lovely young girl. With an approximate 25 min wait return to my car to free up space. 20 mins later I hear MR NOT INTERESTED softly call my name. The pizza base is thin and super crunchy, nice but my 3 little pigs has roast beef, I'm serious, I guess the little pig went to market! The supreme is not very supreme, overall both pizzas are what I'd describe as " lite" and so little cheese, I honestly don't know if there was any at all🤔. I've now deconstructed it to find cheese, it's there but wafer thin and sporadically sprinkled and melted around.Overpriced but you pay for convenience of not having to go to Shoal Bay. Perhaps if you had a carafe or pint at the Cellar it would be acceptable.

Very expensive for what it is: $65 for 2 soups, 1 coffee. And a very salty seafood chowder. Is the cook a smoker? Edited to respond to owner: The difference here is that my question makes sense. Cooks who smoke are likely to blunt their taste buds and consequently over-season the food. Your question to me in response? Well, if I was a smoker AND noticed the excess saltiness, then for sure the dish was not just spoilt but destroyed with salt. You want me to admit to being a smoker? Really?

Had a late afternoon lunch here yesterday and loved everything about the whole place. The food was really delicious, loaded with lots of fresh herbs and ingredients. The decor and atmosphere was excellent, could see myself sitting here having a beverage and enjoying the atmosphere of an afternoon. There's an awesome back deck area that is tucked out of the way and great place to sit. The staff where really genuine and friendly. The amenities where clean and suitable for the area. I will be definitely returning here for a meal or beverage.

Came on a Sunday for brekky. Didn't need to book, sat inside although outside was more popular. Nice food, quick service and good staff. Had a brekky roll on Turkish bread for $16 and a good milkshake $5. Serving was a decent size but could of done with a little more for the price. Situated just back from the beach, parking isn't a problem.

I recently called to make a booking for a table for two. Upon arriving at the restaurant, several staff members walked past us without acknowledging our presence, despite the restaurant not being busy and many tables clearly available. After waiting for at least five minutes, I approached a young staff member who looked at me with annoyance. When I informed her that we had a booking, she did not bother to show us to a table and simply said, “sit anywhere you want.” Once seated, no one came to take our order until I had to wave someone over. An Asian lady eventually approached us, but her manner was abrupt and unwelcoming. Interestingly, it was only after the staff realized that — despite it being just me and my son — we had ordered a substantial amount of food, that their attitude began to change. The male staff and the Asian lady became noticeably nicer, but the young female staff member remained consistently rude. When she placed our dishes on the table, she ignored the used plates that clearly needed clearing and walked away. I had to ask her to clear the table, and she responded with an expression of disbelief and inconvenience. To be honest, the service felt selective — as if we were being judged for dining with a child. My son eats like an adult, but that is beside the point. Every customer deserves equal treatment and basic respect, regardless of age or party size. This kind of attitude does not reflect good hospitality or proper customer service. A warm welcome, basic attentiveness, and courteous manners should be extended to every guest.

I normally love this restaurant I visit every time I’m in Nelson bay however last night went for dinner . Ordered the whole fish deep fried , waitress did mention it might be dry but I have had it before and it’s normally great . The snapper came out and I pulled it apart looking for the meat . It wasn’t dry it was dehydrated. We ate what was edible . Seriously 4 mouth fulls of fish . We got the waitress over - showed her the fish but because we had eaten what was available of the fish she said there was nothing she could do . We were not asking for a refund we certainly were not asking for another fish like she recommended we buy . But surely something could have been offered . The waitress left after explaining that she warned us and took our plates from the table with such an attitude we did not wish to finish the salad or rice that we ordered with the fish . The waitress then went into the kitchen and began laughing and talking about how horrible we were to the kitchen staff . We heard every word . We would have stayed for desert and more drinks but because the waitress took our complaint personal she took issue with us . We got up to leave and pay the bill . I let her know that I heard every word she said about us and that she called us horrible . She did not deny any of this and tried to say sorry while rolling her eyes . She then said would you like to pay the bill , she gave us a bill for $158 , we asked to check the bill as it seemed wrong . With a condescending tone she said it’s what you had . We checked the bill , she had given us a bill for the wrong table our bill was $80 . I was not impressed , was she trying to be dishonest ? Seems to much of a coincidence in my opinion . As mentioned I normally love this resturant - but that service was the worst - the waitress literally ruined our night . 7th November

Have been enjoying their hospitality over the years on occasions when we’ve escaped to Port Stephens for short breaks - both dining in & with takeaway. Have always had great service with quality Thai food. Recently my wife & I were on a short break & we placed an order for pickup. Inadvertently, I left my wallet on a part of the counter that wasn’t prominent, not even realising it was missing until I was contacted the next day by the staff. They even offered to drop off to me as we were staying close by. I promptly collected & greatly appreciated their honesty & integrity - rarely found in business today. Much appreciated - thank you very much.

We had very fantastic experience. 3 families, 4 dogs and Sanook able to accommodate our big ask. Big table at balcony for us and beautiful authentic Thai cuisine All happy including our kids love it so much Thank you to all staff especially to Sanook chef and teams for excellent dinner experience in Sandy Point We will be back again when had holidays around this area For those read this review, you must try this restaurant if you still unsure which one you need to choose for your dinner 😉.

We ordered takeaway on a very wet mid week night. Only two diners but a few takeaways when I went to pick up. Nice tasty meal and friendly staff both on the phone and at the restaurant.

Amazing views over Golf course, excellent food and friendly service. The menu has lots of options and meals are big (needed a takeaway container, which they were more than happy to provide!). Will definitely be back. We had the lamb & vegetable pot pie and the Mediterranean vegetable salad with chicken.

Had prawn salad with coconut risotto and chicken tenderloin. The taste is quite unique. Feels very healthy 😆. Great scenery overlooking the golf course.

A beautiful lunch today. The food was delicious but very limited for vegetarian options that are gluten free. And quite expensive but it was delicious.

Nice light and airy atmosphere overlooking the golf course. You are escorted to your table, but then you need to order and pay at the counter in front of the kitchen. Similarly, you need to get your drinks from the main bar outside the restaurant. The food is delivered to your table. The servings are generous, and the meals were well-presented and tasty. The waitress was attentive and de-cluttered our table progressively. Empty tables were reset quickly.

My wife and I brought our 12 month old and 2.5 year old here for the last 3 nights in a row. The meals are fresh creative and delicious! The kids are looked after with a kids pack and ice cream. The kids sausages and veggies are a big winner - more places should have this as an option for kids.

Had lunch here today. We’ve been 3 times before but never had a chance to review. As far as location is concerned you’d be hard pressed to find something better. It’s a beautiful corner of the marina with loads of shade and a large chess board in front. Their breakfasts and coffees are great. However our lunch was not up to their usual standard. We had fish tacos that looked amazing but the soft tacos didn’t feel fresh and the fish was quite tasteless. The service was really good. Big smiles all round and very helpful. So for the food today I’d have to offer up a 3/5 but with past experiences, good service and great location I’d have to give it a 4/5.

Great location and views. Had breakfast here and it was really good, hot and care taken to present it well. Service at the counter and by wait staff was friendly. Coffee is nice, stronger style bean and came out very promptly. I have them a 4 but it's probably a 4.4 in my opinion, so give them a go! All in all good location, clean, fair prices and nice staff. I read some of the other reviews and I really can't fault the staff or say they are rude so it's a thumbs up from me.

Breakfast at Blueys could of been more enjoyable if staffs could of been more friendly to customers but unfortunately that was not the case. Eggs bendict with bacon, mushrooms, hash browns were all addons totalling just a shy of under $40 for eggs benedict it was the most expensive eggs benedict i have ever eaten lol. Nevertheless it tasted great. The salmon eggs benedict tasted very salty so therefore told the waitress but then again it just seemed waitress didnt care less.

Stopped in here for lunch . Great views of the harbour and close to shops in walking distance. Prices are variable to what you order. The staff were nice. Seating outside or inside along the shore. Parking is all metered to tourists if you live here you dont have to feed the Meyer. Cost us 20 dollars for an hour and a half. Nice to sit and relax.

Oh my goodness, Bluey's is so good! The food is amazing, there's a lovely view of the marina and the staff are super! This dog friendly restaurant on the water is close to the shopping precinct, parks and parking (keep in mind that most parking is paid parking!) I had lunch here with my best friend and my 2 dogs, there's plenty of outdoor seating, covered and uncovered as you please. We ordered the barramundi fish and chips, the crispy pork belly and two iced chocolates; beautifully presented and served in great time. They also have a comprehensive beverage menu to suit all tastes. Thank you team, I hope to dine here when I'm back in Nelson Bay 😁

Lovely location overlooking the harbour. Went here before a dolphin cruise. Food was quick, fresh hot and the fish and chips I had were delicious. Kids loved them too and the banana bread was a hit

Delicious! I recently had dinner at this Indian restaurant and was genuinely impressed. The flavors were rich and authentic, reminding me of homemade meals back in India. I ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan, and both were spot-on – the chicken was tender and the sauce had just the right amount of spice and creaminess. The staff were warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance was cozy and welcoming. You can tell they put real care into both their food and service. Definitely one of the best Indian dining experiences I've had in a while. Highly recommend!

We recently visited with a large group of around 20 people and ordered about 10–12 different dishes from the menu. Unfortunately, the overall experience left much to be desired. While we weren’t expecting a top-tier culinary experience given the small-town setting and limited competition in the area, the food still fell short in several key areas. The taste lacked the authenticity typically associated with Indian cuisine — spices and flavours felt muted or off-balance across most dishes. Another noticeable concern was the portion sizes, which were quite underwhelming considering the price point. For a group our size, the quantities served were not sufficient and did not reflect typical standards in Indian dining where generosity is often part of the experience. Staff were polite and service was decent, but unfortunately the food itself didn’t meet even modest expectations. If you're looking for a truly authentic Indian meal, you might be left disappointed.

Top quality Indian food . The best I have had in NSW so far . Excellent cooking. I left the restaurant so satisfied with my dinner . I was on holiday here and I am so upset I won't get to eat this again until I return for another getaway here in Port Stephens / Nelson Bay . Excellent kind customer service as well . Amazing food!!!! I visited on Wednesday night for all you can eat (buffet) with my family and friends that was really delicious. In the off menu I tasted the methi chicken and starters were yummy. Flavours are nice, the experience is absolutely amazing. The front staff are very kind. Highly recommended. Will definitely visit again

Visited The Only Place for their Wednesday night buffet. We had a group of 9 who were all highly impressed with the experience. The food was full of flavour and fresh. I have always ordered take away from The Only Place and they have been my go to for years. Definitely recommend the buffet. Clear value for money. The whole experience was really great. We will definitely be returning :)

We got the banquet for 2 - good value. Butter chicken was alright - a bit watery. Lamb was nice - moist. Mixed vegetables curry had broccoli in it.. Overall the curries were the let down. Samosa and tandoori in entree was really delicious. Rice - loved the cumin through it. Naan was fresh and tasty. Dessert was perfection.

We ordered the traditional veg, Italian meatball, Mediterranean prawn, tandoori chicken and a garlic bread pizzas they were all super yum. The only downside was we ordered ‘garlic bread’ but got a given a garlic bread pizza instead, it was really nice but we were wanting the bread.

While visiting Nelson Bay for a short holiday getaway from Melbourne, my partner and I stumbled upon Sharkys Pizza by chance as we were driving back to our accommodation one evening. The glowing sign and welcoming vibe caught our attention immediately, so we made a spontaneous decision to give it a try for dinner that night — and we’re so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and friendly. The team behind the counter were upbeat, helpful, and genuinely passionate about their food. We placed our order and didn’t have to wait long at all before being handed a box of deliciously aromatic, piping-hot pizza. The smell alone was enough to convince us we were in for something special. And we were right — this was hands-down the best pizza I’ve had in a long time. The crust was perfectly cooked: crisp on the outside with just the right amount of chew. But what really set it apart were the toppings. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful, and it was clear that Sharkys doesn’t cut corners when it comes to quality ingredients. We ordered a couple of different pizzas to share, and every slice was a hit. The balance of flavors, the generous portions of toppings, and that perfectly melted cheese made each bite something to savor. It’s rare to find a pizza place that nails all the elements so well, especially when you’re just passing through a town for a quick trip. Even though it was a casual stop, the experience stuck with us. We kept talking about how good that pizza was for the rest of the night, and honestly, it became a bit of a highlight of our trip. It’s not often that takeaway pizza makes such a strong impression, but Sharkys absolutely nailed it. We’re already planning our next visit to Nelson Bay, and Sharkys will be our first dinner stop. Decent local pizza place. Be wary of price shock, the prices on their pamphlets are out of date (the 2 pizza deal is $39.95). Got the supreme and meat lovers, both pizzas were okay but nothing to rave about. Would go here again if I was desperate for a pizza as they are better than Dominos

Sharkys Pizza Shack is a Nelson Bay OG take away pizza shop. Nestled away from the main shopping precinct, do yourself a favour and walk/drive the extra 3 mins to get yourself the best pizza in the Bay area. The staff are friendly and helpful, the owner is a most beautiful lady who has supported the Bay for 13 years. The Pizzas are hot, fresh and tasty and there is a wide variety to temp you. Go and find this little gem of a takeaway shop, you won't be disappointed!

Ordered the pizzas for pickup online for pick up. The estimated time for pick up was pretty good. Quality of the pizza crust was great, crispy underside and the rest was soft and chewy. Toppings was also quality and full of flavour unlike other certain pizza chains.

One of my favourite places to relax and dine in Port Stephens! Who wouldn't enjoy sipping a margarita, tasting mexican delicacies, under umbrella shade, out in the fresh air, surrounded by nature, overlooking an inviting infinity pool and the waters of our blue water wonderland. This latest visit was to celebrate a dear friend's 60th birthday and we were so well looked after. See you again soon!

Food was quite good it is on the pricey side $85 for 3 sides (bread, chips, corn ribs) and a main (peri-peri chicken) You get 4 slices of bread a bowl of chips and 5 corn ribs Peri-peri chicken was on a bed on corn and salsa and there 2 pieces. Waited probably 25-30mins which was longer than I had expected seeing as there were only about 8 people there for dinner. Just be careful if your eating there with you dog we found several broken pieces of glass around and under our table. The outlook over the pool and the water at sunset was absolutely beautiful aswell.

This was one of the best lunches we had on our trip honestly, I got tuna tostadas my partner got the pork taco and we shared scallops. The food was so good and i mean amazingly good the flavours where awesome the seafood was fresh the view was pretty and atmosphere was fun and vibes I would recommend this place 1000%

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic dining experience at Atmos Nelson Bay! We had the Cured kingfish, WA chargrilled octopus, whole snapper, and lamb Tomahawk cutlets. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The kingfish was fresh and delicate, the octopus was perfectly tender with just the right amount of char, and both the snapper and lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection. Great service and a lovely atmosphere to match. Highly recommend if you're in Nelson Bay and looking for quality Mediterranean-inspired food!

We had a fabulous family lunch. We parked at the foot of the scenic lookout and walked over, which was beautiful. The food was on point , it’s the kind of menu that makes you want to order everything. The restaurant is superbly decorated, you really feel like you are dining in Greece.

We recently had lunch at Atmos in Shoal Bay to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and once again it was an incredible experience. We’ve been here a few times before and every visit has been consistently amazing. The food is always fresh and absolutely delicious! the lamb shoulder is always a highlight for us. The staff are so warm and welcoming, and it really feels like such a special place to dine. We’ll definitely be coming back many more times!

We were lucky enough to dine at Atmos not once, but twice—and both nights were nothing short of phenomenal. Quite honestly, this was the best meal we've had out. The food was exceptional, every dish bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We feasted on the melt-in-your-mouth lamb shoulder, the chicken souvla of the day, juicy lamb tomahawk cutlets, exquisitely grilled WA octopus, and perfectly charred broccolini with heavenly roasted potatoes. Every plate was a standout—so good, we couldn’t resist coming back for round two! On our first night, we sat at the bar and were treated to great entertainment and warm banter from the bartenders Olivia and I didn’t get to catch the other bartenders name. But they were incredibly friendly, constantly checking in to see how we were enjoying everything—especially the cocktails—and made us feel right at home. Their energy added a fantastic touch to our experience and set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Over the course of two nights, we tried every cocktail on the menu (yes, every one!) and each drink was just as impressive as the food. I went with my family to The Nelson Way for an early dinner and enjoyed a wonderful evening. The service and atmosphere were excellent and the food was amazing. We loved the tandoori chicken pizza, chicken parmigiana, lamb cutlets & scotch fillet, as well as the kids fish & chips. We will absolutely be going back to this restaurant.

Scrumptious food, great tasting cocktails, friendly staff and when you get a beautiful day - sit out side and it just makes an even better experience. We went with a large group and ordered the entire menu :D General consensus on our table was that the food is tasty with generous portions and the price reasonable for the location. Oysters were fresh (sourced locally). Lamb cutlets and Sirloin steak were cooked perfectly. I would definitely visit again if in the area.

Went there for dinner, the ambience is abit different from the photos, more food hall / very casual vibe. I guessed afternoon would be a better experience. Highly recommend their Lamb cutlet, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious.

Back for another meal and again they didn't disappoint. Beautiful meals in a lovely atmosphere. Great for anyone wanting a quieter atmosphere away from the clubs and crowded restaurants. Love the space and feel of the environment and great service. The final judge is the empty plates!

I do recommend this restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast and the food is excellent both times. We were staying at a different place but booked our dinner and breakfast here. The staff is lovely and attentive. Food is fresh and well cooked and beautifully presented. We’ll definitely go back.

The restaurant has a pleasant, cozy and friendly atmosphere. The staff are friendly and always ask about our experience. The food is served quickly. However, I still deduct 1 point because the beef was tough and the prawns in the pad Thai were a bit bland. However, the sauces in the dishes were delicious. I think the Thai fried rice is to my taste.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The customer service was terrible—staff were unwelcoming and unfriendly, with no greetings or basic hospitality. We weren’t even offered table water and had to go get it ourselves. The hygiene was also concerning. Staff were seen taking their shoes off and lying down near the entrance, which is completely unprofessional and unsanitary. On top of that, the air conditioning wasn’t working, and there was no effort to offer fans or inform customers about the situation. The overall atmosphere was uncomfortable, and the lack of care from the staff made it even worse. What’s even more frustrating is the way management responds to feedback. Instead of genuinely listening to customer concerns and trying to improve, they get defensive with weak excuses and refuse to take responsibility. They can’t seem to handle criticism and don’t take “no” for an answer. Rather than addressing real issues, they focus on arguing back, which is just sad and pathetic. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. There are plenty of other Thai restaurants that actually value their customers, provide good service, and maintain a clean, comfortable environment.

So surprised, I would easily rate this as one of the best Thai meals I’ve had in Australia. We’ve lived in the Bay for over a year and go out at least once a week. We walked past this restaurant countless times and never gave it a go and I’m so glad today we did. The restaurant has a nice ambience and is very clean and tidy. The staff were all super friendly and you can see they take pride in what they offer. The prawn crackers were great. The duck in Tamarind Sauce I had was near perfect. May I just add, the broccoli that came with it must be best I’ve ever tasted. My wife had the soft shell crab salad which she gave a 5/5. Even the presentation was on point. All in all, I couldn’t fault my experience here today, and the fact that we heard singing coming from the kitchen just made it that little bit special. Thank you! 🙏

Delicious Thai food with excellent flavor. The portion sizes were a bit on the smaller side, but the taste more than made up for it. Parking was convenient since it’s located in a shopping mall. I’d definitely come back!

Great little restaurant with a mixed Thai menu. There are plenty of menu options. The portions were reasonable, and taste and quality were really good. Great selection of beers, including Thai Chang and Singha. Location just opposite the marina with both indoor and outdoor seating.

The food is delicious, especially the fried rice Nasigrong and steamed fish with lemon sauce. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is located on the side of the road.

Had dinner at Sunan 9 Thai Restaurant and it was fantastic. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup and Singapore Fried Rice — both dishes were full of flavour and beautifully prepared. The nightly ambience added to the charm, making it a truly enjoyable dining experience.

The staff were friendly, but overall we were quite disappointed with our visit. The portion sizes were small, the food was overly salty, and the prices were quite high for what we got. It didn’t taste like authentic Thai food at all. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Great food, quick service despite being close to capacity. The coffee was perfection, made by an experienced barista and the food was delightful. Prosciutto scrambled eggs were delish with cheese on top and toasted Turkish soldiers. Brioche Benny was good too.

In House Kitchen is a return cafe for us. We have friends that live locally and they have coffee and food there at least weekly. Reason is simple, consistency. Consistent service, quality and presentation. Well done IHK.

Don’t order the reuben, super disappointing with a barely visible shaving of meat. Whoever made it has clearly never seen a New York reuben. Hubby had the bagel, this was a much better choice. Friendly enough staff and nice to wander through the homewares after an average meal.

Been here two days back to back now - the coffee has been consistently great. Smooth, good temp and hits the spot. One downside is they charge an extra dollar for lactose free milk.

A popular coffee shop for a reason. Coffee was good and the food was delightful, I haven’t had eggs Benedict that good in a while. 10 points to the chefs for getting the eggs and bacon near perfection! The atmosphere was a bit too loud inside to enjoy, the drone of people talking can make it difficult to have a conversation if you have any hearing difficulties (like tinnitus). It would be lovely in quieter periods but holiday period it was packed out and loud. The staff were efficient, polite and courteous. We were given one of the last two tables as a walk-in, and even with how busy they were our food and coffee came out in 15-20 mins. Overall a great experience.

Best place in the bay ran by a lovely family! Today had very tasty calamari with chippies and a fresh salad. Everything we have ever ordered from this place has been 10/10 Epic burgers and they do a mean roast beef gravy roll! Also they have graze boxes you can order to pick up … amazing as gifts or a treat for oneself

A great place for take away. They're open until 7 pm, so you can always get a selection of burgers, chips, and fish. The store also has convenience items you can get instead of needing to go to Coles or Woolies.

The place itself was nice, but ordered a simple sandwich with only meat, onion, and sauce, only to receive a completely different sandwich with add ons that some may be pleased with, but we weren’t as my sister is allergic to tomatoes and they were put randomly on her burger. Would advise staff to do a better job of just following what the orders say so others don’t have to waste money on things they never ordered. Bit disappointing.

We got told about the Corlette store so we cold in and had hamburger and chips and a steak burger as well I found the staff to be friendly and the little store had that great little atmosphere end soft serve ice cream milkshake as well if you're going past call in and grab one of their famous works burgers I would highly recommend them and it's were well worth the dropping from mwh part 2 after eating the works burger this is how we describe I was going to take a photo of it unwrap picked up with two hands looked at it and started to eat because it looks so nice then I realised I forgot to take the photo I couldn't help it was that night so just keep needing me the bacon is nice and well done I had steak and it was like melting in the mouth overall it's one of the best burgers I've had a lot on my thank you. And looking forward to coming back from mwh and by the way if you Drive down the road 100 yards it has tables chairs view that you couldn't get much better than that mwh

Really good flathead and chips!! The service was excellent and we enjoyed it sitting on the chairs outside, initially braving the cold but afterwards the sun shone and it was magical. Thank God for his mercies!!

Absolutely a brilliant cruise! Highly recommend! We have been out on their dolphin cruises before which are amazing but this is the first time we have been on a whale watching cruise! We saw lots of whales and also seals as well as dolphins! The whale watching was incredible with lots of whales up close to the boat and the captain was really good and also entertaining! We literally saw heaps of whales and they were all around us, a big thank you to all the captain and all the crew who were really friendly and helpful! My wife and kids all loved the day

We went out on cruise this morning whale watching. The captain was very informative, staff were excellent . a great experience for my 70th. birthday and seen whales, dolphins and other wildlife. Highly recommended.

We had so much fun. The captain and the crew were superb. He found a herd of whales which was super playful, from breaching to fin slapping to tail slapping. My kids loved it and was truly a memorable day. I would highly recommend. Food and beverages on the boat were reasonably priced and the food selection was great.

Was a cloudy chilly day but the cruise was so worth it, Didn't take long before we found several pods of dolphins which the family LOVED seeing.... Dolphins were up to mischief and playful with some very close encounters with the boat. The sights and commentary were great and overall SO worth it

We had a good experience. The captain was very informative and helpful. We even got a photo of the kids in the helm with the captain. There was a very happy, friendly and fun member of staff but I can't remember his name unfortunately, who was lovely and full of life. Tall fella, brown hair. You'll know him if you're lucky enough to have his awesome vibe on board. We bought food on board and they have a good selection of basics - chips, sausage rolls, pies, lollies, hot and cold drinks, ice creams, etc. Reasonably prices items. I wouldn't recommend the cheese and Spinach roll but the sausage roll and the hot chips were delicious. We saw a medium sized pods of Indo-Pacific bottle nose dolphins which was fantastic. The booking process and boarding was very easy and quick. The dock is easy to find. Lots of inside seating on the vessel, not much outside unless you go upstairs which is open to the forces of nature's (in our case - constant sun exposure because we were lucky to have great weather) so we opted to sit mid-deck inside and it was cool and spacious eventhough the boat was full. Overall, a good experience 👌

Boat used by Moonshadow was the biggest n the best amongst the ones standing at the pier when we boarded . It was uniquely spotted amongst the many ships. Crew was energetic and interactive who guided us about the marine life and their habitat also were engaging us in the conversation and making our day the most memorable. Experience is what we take at the end of the trip and thats the job of the crew to make it memorable one. We had sighted 2 Whales and lots of Dolphins n Seals in the Cruise Floating and Kayaking was amazing .. Jumping in the River was mesmerizing experience Gari Island was with Crystal White Sand and Tubing is definitely the most memorable experience The best part is during all three meals Vegetarian was remembered and served to us in all meals Breakfast and lunch and afternoon snacks was superb When in Urangan Moonshadow is the only option

If your in the area do yourselves a favour, the dolphin cruise was one of the best experiences that I have had. My family including 2 little ones have not stopped talking about our trip. We were happy to see random dolphins around us, but then they rode the bow wave of the boat giving us some amazing photo's and memories. One experience not to miss.

Portion size was great considering the price. S+p calamari was fresh but their customer service and the cleanliness of the venue let them down. Tables were dirty and staff were very rude. It was a 30+ min wait and we were only told once we ordered and it must be the only fish and chip shop in the world which charges extra for lemon.

I basically love everything on our plate. We ordered a platter which (if I remember correctly) had 2 types of fish, prawns, squid and chips. Nice ample table and benches, I think parking was good for 2-3 cars. Highly recommended if you're in the area. This is "Aussie Fish and Chips"... they don't eat it with vinegar.

I don’t normally eat deep fried, but when in Rome… I tried the seafood basket. Chips - not that crispy 😒 Fish - could have done with another 30sec in the oil. It was a bit…meh 😕 The other stuff was fine tho. 🙂 Friendly enough staff. 🙂

I had a fish cocktail, potato scallop and calamari ring. They were all tasty and I really liked them! The staff brought my meal to my seat. There was a bit of a wait as they started making the food after ordering, but I was satisfied that I was able to eat them freshly made.👍

This is what a true fish and chip shop should be. You wont find exceptional service or a fancy menu here. What you will find is hearty fish and chips how they should be. I have had fish and chips all across NZ and Australia so I have big expectations when it comes to fish and chips. Aussie Bobs really did deliver. The plan was to order and take it down to the beach, but the wind was cold and it was getting dark so we decided to 'dine in', which was a big patio area with large picnic tables. At the time there were a few other tables of families, one table of what looked like a group of friends, and a few couples. In addition to the tables, there were locals standing waiting for their takeaway orders - this is always a good sign when locals eat here too. After you have ordered and paid, you will be given a number. When your food is ready your number will be called, or they will bring your food out to you if you are dining in. As much as the burgers looked tempting, I decided to stick to the classic fish and chips, though I did get a spring roll and a battered sav on the side. The fish was good, cooked just how I like, and the chips were good. If I was to be fussy, they could have done with more salt BUT they had thought of that and they give you sachets of salt with your meal. It makes sense for you to add more as you can't salt off if there is too much. One thing I did not check is if they had had offered chicken salt. The spring roll was very tasty. The portion of fish and chips was very generous for what I paid. I got the side dishes because I have been burnt before at other fish and chip stores with tiny portions walking away still hungry, but that will not happen here. Overall I really enjoyed my food at Aussie Bobs. It certainly quenched my craving for a good feed of fish and chips.

First time in Nelson Bay, ordered Godfather pizza expecting usual well-topped pizza. Very disappointed with the lack of topping as can be seen in the picture. Customer service was fine, pizza was a huge disappointment.

The pizza seemed like it had been cooked, left to sit on the bench for an hour, and then cooked again. It was burnt and stale. This is why people prefer the Salamander Bay Domino’s.

Average quality pizzas, the 4 I ordered had a chewy, almost raw dough texture and was not as crispy as other stores I have purchased from. We were hungry so ate them. Not the worst pizza I've bought, but certainly not the best either. They did look good though.

I've ordered before but lettuce on a pizza! The driver was not polite 'here's your pizza enjoy your night' not a good sign. I've ordered before but never again. I'm going back to sharky's pizza

Just had a conversation with the "store manager 'about missing pizzas snd was told that after the driver could not find out house , which has the largest number 1outside and was well lit he went home I rang after 2hours only to be told they d send another and there would be no charge another hour went past and we just chucked them in fridge. Then I noticed that I indeed had been charged and she said "No Way" would my money be reimbursed I have read the blurb that they send out. But please there are so many good pizza places. Just give Domino's pizza st Nelson Bay a wide berth You will be wasting your money. Just like we did

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. I had the worst experience at this Subway location. I was served by a woman named Millie, and her attitude was completely unprofessional and rude. After waiting in line for a while, it was finally my turn to order. As she was making my sandwich, I decided to add one more sub to my order. There were six people waiting behind me, and instead of just adding the extra sandwich, Millie actually demanded that I go back to the end of the line. This is not how you treat customers, especially when there’s no need for such a ridiculous request. Her behavior was completely unacceptable, and I won’t be returning.

i had a worker called dylan when i came to subway salamander bay. he was kind and polite and asked me questions to make sure my order was perfect. when i got my sub everything was exactly how i wanted it and he even gave me extra onion (which i asked for). if you go to subway salamander bay, dylan is the perfect server for you!

I was overcharged and even when their Equipment wasn’t working. Upon asking the price increase, they’d mentioned that the price got hiked a month ago but it was the same for other subways

I come here every other day, staff are awesome and lovely, they make you feel welcome there and they know how to make their subs 🔥 I been to plenty of other subways but none have compared - Koda :D

Never had a 6" sub from here before but wow it was excellent wish I had got the foot long one, I had the leg ham white bread, spicy mayo. Its my go to place from now on well done guys

Beautiful staff at Salamander Bay Subway. Witnessed two young staff today who handled a nasty customer extremely well. This lady didn’t want to pay for her add on salad but the staff stood their ground after it clearly states certain salads are extra in multiple places on the shop front. Well done for handling the situation well despite being spoken to extremely poorly.

$18.90 for a footlong steak and cheese ... $25.90 for a meal... For the same footlong price I could buy a whole bbq chicken, 6 rolls and a bag of salad at woolies... Those prices are disgusting and just taking the piss

Bay Brothers Kebabs in Nelson’s Bay was a disappointing experience. The owner was incredibly rude, showed no customer service skills, and seemed unaware of the price differences between dishes. Communication was lacking, making the experience frustrating from the start. The food itself was below average. The chips were undercooked the fish was ok, the batter tasted old. To make matters worse, I didn’t receive my full order—ordered fish, chips, and salad but never got the salad. The store also lacked cleanliness, with dirty tables and an overall lack of care or pride in the presentation. On a positive note, the young staff were polite and professional. Hopefully, they’re learning from the owner what not to do in business, especially when it comes to customer treatment. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

If fresh is what your looking for this place probably isn’t it, waited for chips to be cooked go in get chips and they are cold, let them know and was given rude response “ do you want fresh ones” the MANAGER went to put chips back into the fryer (covered in chicken salt) and when asked if she was going to re cook them she replied yes. We said no, fresh chips please we were given rude facial expressions and mumbles. Food quality was undesirable as was the customer service. The whole time on her phone and even ate chips when fell out of box. YUCK 🤮

We ordered sea food family pack and chicken burger and Doner kebab. The sea food family pack was not very good, fishes were smelly and not delicious, the burger and Donner was so so.

Horrible. Worst fish and chips ever. The bin we threw them in would throw up, if it could. Cardboard yuck batter, tasteless, frozen and old fish. Equally tasteless chips. We had one bite and spat it out. Go around the corner to Aussie.

Never recommend to anyone too much oil the food had a long time in the fridge The meat was so bad Fries is good Fish is good The salad was so bad the olives is bad, no tomatoes too much onion I asked one of the staff to eat inside and he said no! And he has lots of chairs and tables. No tissues no knife. Very poor!

Salad was the best thing about this place. Nice and fresh. Was enjoying my kabab until I found a hair in it. Customer service skills need work. $25 for a kabab and small chips no drink, no thanks won’t be back. There’s been so many kabab shops there and this is the worst.

Got the fish and chips and the fish was awesome. Fresh and hot and melt in your mouth. Chips were decent.
