If you're a coffee enthusiast, Kopi Mane Inspiration in Ruteng is an essential stop on your journey. This charming local café has captured the hearts of both residents and visitors with its exceptional brews made from locally sourced beans. The highlight here is their signature Yellow Catura Manggarai coffee, which promises a delightful experience for your taste buds.
Flores is an island famous for its coffee. There are some of high-land dominated regencies where coffee grown very fertile. Here, coffee has been cultivated in wide areas of plantation and become their main source of economy. Almost all of the high-grade coffee beans were exported to fulfill both national and global market. The local market was always only able to got the low-grade ones to enjoy. Thanks to the Filosofi Kopi a series films first aired in 2015 which has successed in raising the awareness of many Indonesia coffee regions to further glorify and appreciate their coffee. Each of the coffee regions has build their own ecosystem involving the upstream-side and the downstream-side of the coffee trades to be inlined together and developing their local market competitively. While the upstream-side usually consist of coffee farmers and coffee processors, the downstream-side consist of coffee roasters and coffee shops with each of their own baristas and coffee products.
Here is Kopi Mane, the example of one of the coffee shop pioneers in Flores who struggle for the Manggarainese hopes & dreams of living through their proud of authentic Manggarai coffee. This coffee shop established 2015 in Ruteng the capital city of Manggarai Regency. It was named after Manggaraian habits which routinely drinking coffee to relax afterwork in the afternoon. For almost 10 years, this coffee shop has been continously developing their coffee business' ecosystem while preserving the value of coffee passed down by Manggaraian ancestors from generation to generation. Managing of both upstream and downstream-side of their coffee business, Kopi Mane see that every drip of coffee served in their shop is a balanced-worth to satisfy their coffee producers as well as their coffee customers. Various coffee are available from different Manggaraian regions, different type of coffee-beans including Arabica, Robusta, Blended, Yellow Catura, Juria, different process of coffee-making including traditionally processed black coffee, Italian processed coffee such as espresso, americano, long black, V60, Italian milk-based processed coffee such as latte, cappuccino, etc.

For the food, it depends on the menu. The fish soup was nice, the kwetiaw also good.
Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone passing by and looking for a place to dine or coffee.

We came to this place to rent scooters for ~100k, and found they also had a cafe. The scooters are fairly old but no problems. After returning our scoots we went in for dinner and beer. They give you paper and you write down what you want. Food was great, service was good.

Must try spot for local Indonesian food. We had the Gado Gado, soto ayam and nasi goreng. Everything was fresh and delicious. The coffee was pretty good. The mango juice was not very sweet.

The taste of the food is really authentic, really recommended to eat here, especially for foreigner who is traveling to or passing Ruteng, the price also very fair, only cost around $2-3/meal.
Absolutely amazing warung in Ruteng. The staff is very kind, polite and smiley. I got to talk with the owners for a while in Indonesian and it was a great discussion!
Now onto the stuff that matters the most: the food. It's AMAZING! We highly recommend the Ayam Betutu, it's a Balinese chicken meal and it's amazing. Served with delicious vegetables, salty peanuts and a phenomenal sambal. Also, their grilled tuna is absolutely fantastic! See pictures below.
HIGHLY recommended if you like good food. Plus, they have wifi!

Guests can enjoy private terraces and family-friendly accommodations, all while staying connected with complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel boasts a lovely garden and an inviting restaurant where visitors rave about the delicious meals, including standout dishes like peppercorn steak served on a hot plate.
Great hotel with decent amenities for the amount of stars. Service was great and they even organised laundry with a local laundry service to be done in 12 hours and at the hotel. They organised motorcycles free of charge to get us to the salon and even helped us book. Great location and pond with fish was such a beautiful touch!

Nice lay out. The food I ate was very good. Didn't stay at the hotel. First beef I ate since coming to Flores. Had the peppercorn steak on hot plate. Very tender and nicely prepared. There has been mention of staff not asking if everything was good. I found that as well. My initial waitress was good at taking my order and delivering my food. Then there was nothing till I asked for the check. Someone could have come back and asked me if my meal was good or if I needed more coffee. I had to ask for my bill, which is know big deal. I used the washroom at the end of the meal, and it looked like a swimming pool. A little more care in that regard would be good. In saying this, I will probably go back again because the beef was very good. The portions are large and should be looked at as a Chinese dinner where you share the plates.
Our room was 32 on ground floor. It is near the car park, so you can guess it was noisy when any car drives in or out. The soundproofing for room is very very bad. We can near people talking at the restaurant. Furthermore, whenever the 1st level room flushed the toilets, we can hear it very clearly. Even washing of hands, we can hear the water sound very clearly like the pipes is above us. This is not the rooms we wanted.
Wonderful place in simple Ruteng. Real oasis with palms, lake, Hut, bungalows, great caravan-saray , ideal servants, excellent service and Eco atmosphere. Only one minus - no animals and Strong alcohol allowed.

Beautiful hotel! Worth more than 2 starts as it's written. Amazing staff as everywhere in Flores. Good breakfasts and an amazing restaurant for lunch and dinner. We met some people from other hotels who came to Spring hill just to eat in the restaurant! Clean rooms!!!
The atmosphere at Spring Hill is very cool, comfortable and clean and the view is very nice. The food available is very delicious and the service is fast and friendly. The place is easy to reach because it is very close to the center of Ruteng

Agape Cafe is one of the oldest cafes in Ruteng, Manggarai Regency. This cafe is very good and highly recommended if you want to gather with friends or want to celebrate something, for example a birthday.
Even though the price is a little expensive, the food served is also very delicious. The service staff are also very friendly to their customers. Apart from the nice interior, this cafe is also very clean and comfortable. One of the menus that is most recommended by me is the Asparagus soup which is very delicious. Therefore the place is highly recommended.

so far this is the best food we had after the boat trip in Bajo.
if you are local tourist or western tourist in ruteng we will highly suggest this place for lunch or dinner.
you could also ask them to make it less spicy or not soy souce for your food, and we always ask no sugar added to the drinks that we order such as jus, coffee or tea.

The restaurant was nicely decorated. There is free wifi. Brought by our guide. We ordered 2 simple dishes for chicken and mee goreng. They were tasty which was better than most food we had eaten on our trip. There is a beautiful paddy field Infront of the restaurant. Simple car park in front too. There are also some spots around in restaurant for photos.

I had a fantastic meal here! The variety of local dishes was impressive, and everything I tried was delicious. The staff were friendly, professional, and made me feel very welcome. Visited 2 times. Ikan bakar was one of food you should tried in Ruteng. You can choose how big the fish is by choosing from range of price. Fried squid was freshh, sambal was good. You can eat at their decent place across the grilling site.
It's quite pricey for a seafood restaurant in Ruteng. Well, no wonder. Ruteng lays on mountains where the fish are traveled from the coast and that makes it reasonable for seafood to be more expensive here. However, I really enjoyed the seafood here. What I also love about the place is the spacious parking lot.
Regardless of whether there are a lot or few people, you’ll have to wait a while for them to grill the fish. The grilled fish is tasty, affordable, and worth the wait.

This is probably my favorite place to hang out in Ruteng. Various food and drinks are served here. The price is very reasonable; that's why you'll see a lot of teenagers here haha. It also provides free wifi; pretty fast compared to other cafés in Ruteng.

It was earl morning and I did not eat. But i did have coffee. It turned out it was home grown and processed and honestly was the best coffee I have had in Indonesia.
Aris himself is a charming chatty guy who speaks perfect english.

I do not think that many tourists pass through the area, so if you do, a little bit of support would go a long way!
We passed along the way from Ruteng to Labuan Bajo. Its such a cute little place, so we stopped for lunch. We came around 1pm, the place wasnt open yet. But the owner opened up and made the place ready for us in 1 minute. The owner is really nice and the food is good, nothing too special. Really recommend to stop at this nice place.
