Le Jeu de Paume is a Michelin starred restaurant in Pau with exquisite décor and delicious food. The chefs are highly skilled and the portions are generous.
Very good lunch with my wife - great food quality and prep, good service and the setting is splendid, right in the center of Pau with the added benefit of a green scenery (we lunched on the terrace). Strongly recommend!
F L — Google review
We had the pleasure of dining at Le Jeu de Paume inside the Parc Beaumont Hôtel & Spa during our stay in March, and the experience was very good. From the moment we walked in, we could feel the refined, exclusive atmosphere that defines a true gastronomic restaurant. The elegant interior, the soft lighting, and the attentive staff immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. We were warmly welcomed and felt genuinely looked after throughout the meal. The staff was incredibly professional and attentive without being intrusive, a perfect balance that made us feel relaxed and valued. My wife, our young son, and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavor, showcasing seasonal ingredients with creativity and finesse. You could tell that every detail, was thoughtfully considered. If you're in Pau and looking for an elevated dining experience in a serene and elegant setting, I highly recommend Le Jeu de Paume.

We stayed at the hotel so we tried this restaurant at the first night. The chef is so creative and indeed the food was fantastic with reasonable price. We took the menu of the day. The service is great just right for the hotel standard.

It was a pleasant experience! Our hosted was great and helpful. The water was helpful and patient. The food amazing! We had steak. I have never had steak soooo soft(medium rare) in my life. To end our evening we had coffee and pastries. All went well!!!
Ilynn M — Google review
Went to Le Berry with my wife and son and had a really great experience. Our waiter, Charly, was super friendly and spoke very good English, which made things easier for us. From the moment we walked in, every staff member greeted us warmly and the same when we left. The place was buzzing, with a long line of people waiting, which says a lot about how popular it is. The food was absolutely delicious, great quality and generous portions. Highly recommend.
VIC — Google review
The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. The atmosphere is very busy. Get there early if you want a seat but don't worry. They do turn the tables quickly.
Sam B — Google review
Is a must if you come to town, the food is spectacular and the service is the best. I recommend going early is always full it doesn’t matter if it’s a weekend or a weekday lunch time is full. The kids menu includes a ticket to the Mary goes around in the main place and I think that is cool. The food is so delicious, the onion soup is crazy good. Also is kid friendly they have chairs for babies.

The pros : good service, very prompt delivery of our order, competitive pricing, good selection of food The cons : outside tables are also used by smokers , passive smoking from other diners can be a nuisance
Olivier B — Google review
This was maybe the best experience i have ever had. Not only was the quality of the food incredible, the service was outstanding. Our waiter Paul was very kind, helpful and hardworking. All waiters were great. And i highly recommend the entrecôte. Last but not least, i thought the atmosphere was great. It wasn’t touristic but very local. Big compliments to Paul, the other waiters and the cooks.

This was the best restaurant I ever went to. The food was so unbelievable good, I would consider it perfect. Our waiter Paul was amazing and very kind and helpful. He spoke perfect English and was unbelievable helpful.(all the waiters were also very helpful). The atmosphere and everything was so perfect it should have gotten 6/5 stars. The price was so low for the high quality and the size. If you visit Pau or even close to Pau you must visit Le Berry, it will be an experience I will never forget in my live. I am so thankful that I experienced Le Berry.

Restaurant
Le Poulet à 3 Pattes is nestled along one of the most picturesque promenades in Pau, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere with its minimalist decor. This charming brasserie refreshes its menu every two weeks, featuring a selection of four starters, main courses, and desserts, alongside a special lunch formula available from Wednesday to Friday.
have had the pleasure of going to this restaurant a few times for work functions and it is always a pleasure! We had our team end of year lunch yesterday, all chose the Christmas menu and it was exceptional, very good value for money and service very good. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures. I hope that the family will be equally pleased when we have brunch there next Sunday.

Tremendous view of the Pyrenees on a clear day from the outdoor patio. Great food with very generous portions. Wonderful, friendly service (deserving of huge praise for crossing le Boulevard as part of their work). Great, crispy frites, and the 3 from fromages platter, with baguette and jam is delicious.
Jamey P — Google review
Perfect! we came for the terrace and the view mostly, but the food was soo soooo good, we’ll be back someday :)
Papu K — Google review
Great restaurant, great food and service. Very good views of the Pyrenees if you sit outside. Very affordable with a set menu or a la carte. Recommended.

The menu du jour was fantastic and especially the squash soup. Black rice and chicken was also fabulous. Nice, sunny day with a great view of the Pyrenees. Highly recommend.
Todd L — Google review
Really nice experience. Food is well served and fresh, space is not too fancy, good place for casual-special meals.
Alexandr R — Google review
One of the best restaurants in Pau. Perfect food and beautiful view of the pyrénées.
Fernanda F — Google review
Went to this restaurant as part of a large group of work colleagues. I was very excited because I'd heard really good things about the food and service and I was not at all disappointed. The starters, main course and dessert were absolutely delicious (I had salmon, merlot and chocolate tart). I was really impressed at the service because managing a big group with different orders is not easy. The restaurant is beautiful inside - just a shame it was raining and we couldn't sit outside and enjoy the view of the Pyrénées! Big thanks to all the staff and looking forward to coming back soon!

Nestled in a quaint square behind the Luperc Cathedral in Eauze, Le Henri IV is a culinary gem that showcases the best of local cuisine. This charming restaurant offers an inviting indoor setting and a lovely patio for al fresco dining during warmer months. Renowned for its creative dishes, including exceptional vegetarian options, it’s no wonder that visitors rave about their experiences here. Many guests have found themselves returning after their first visit due to the delightful food and warm atmosphere.
Our first visit was for lunch and it was so wonderful we went back a few days later for dinner. Both times, the food was delicious and inventive. The atmosphere is delightful and romantic. The service was very friendly, attentive and kind. I accidentally spilled both our two apéritifs on the wobbly table outside and they very kindly replaced them both.

Cosy French restaurant providing great food and hospitality. Don’t be put off by the unassuming exterior like most French restaurants the inside is much more important. A wide choice from 3 menus with the most expensive a reasonable €29. Very nice.
Lunch M — Google review
This is an intimate restaurant offering lovely food in a charming place. The only issue is that the portions are too generous for my appetite! Make no mistake, this is worth a visit but do book. It's really popular.
Will W — Google review
An excellent recommendation by our B&B hosts. We arrived early as we hadn’t made a booking, although it was Sunday I figured this place could get busy. We got a table and immediately it started to fill up. We had managed to park in the street nearby but don’t bank on being able to do that. However, there is an underground car park a few blocks away. We ate off the set menu and had 3 courses. The portions are large and excellent quality. If I lived here it would be my regular diner.
Mark W — Google review
I had the 23-Menue which included (in my case) soup, poule in pot and some dessert! It was way enough and really delicious. The service was with high attention, very friendly and felt like we've been sitting here every dinner. The ambiente is soooo cosy french! I'll be back!
Tina M — Google review
Fantastic meal. We had regional food like the Garbure and Poule au Pot and they were both excellent. Our daughters were with us and they were treated so well. The dessert was great as well and the service was warm and wonderful. We’ll definitely come back.

Léon Restaurant in Pau-Bizanos is a delightful dining spot that stands out for its all-day service, making it an ideal choice for those craving a meal outside the traditional French lunch hours. The friendly and attentive staff ensure that every visit is enjoyable, even during busy times. Guests rave about the fresh and perfectly cooked dishes, particularly the mussels in white wine paired with crispy fries—a true culinary highlight during their travels in France.
Best thing about this restaurant is that it is open all day so if you want food after tonal French lunch time, this is perfect. Staff very friendly. Visited again, the food is very fresh and cooked perfectly. Staff are very attentive, even when the restaurant is really busy. One of my favourites 😍 👏👍
Kim P — Google review
We ordered fish and chips, calamares beignets and cesar salad. We Will not comment the team in the restaurant as we had our meals delivered by Uber. Ordering and delivery went smooth. The quality of fish and chips raised some questions. Not only because of multiple fishbones in the filets but especially because of a human hair in the preparation. Luckily we had 1 + 1 promo for the calamares beignets. Otherwise, the portions delivered would really be to small for a normal person. After all not bad, but certainly would not advise to order there. Pau offers better take away opportunities.

Mussels in white wine and herbs with fries, delicious. We were looking forward to this one during our nine week trip in france. It is a real treat. The staff are lovely. Working hard to please their customers. The waffles are perfect and you can't go past vanilla ice cream in France. It is the best

Fantastic service, very friendly and attentive staff. The best thing was we were able to eat after 14.00 on a Saturday. If more restaurants opened in the afternoon like Léon,it would stop the expansion of Macdonalds
Steve F — Google review
If I had to choose a chain restaurant, Léon would be my number one. So much choice, excellent value, and service. The food is delicious, too.
Suzi J — Google review
We tried this chain before and we had an agréable experience. Sorry to say that we had a very bad service in this outlet in Bizanos, waitress attitude was very aggressive, and her boss was not better. It was a Monday 7:30 and we were the only clients there. Same while we were there a customer left mumbling that he’ll never come back again. The bread was not of good quality, food served cold.
Firas S — Google review
Mussels are ok-ish at best, however the service is terrible! We asked for 3 bols of mussels and it was meant to be an offer (1.5 per bol) which we asked upfront to be sure and when it came we were told that because we were 3 sharing, the offer would not applied... it was certainly written in the very small prints but we did ask anyway! Also the manager was rather agressive and to some extend disrespectful. I would definitely not come again and will recommend against to anybody I know

La Fiancée du Désert is a unique Lebanese restaurant located in the heart of Pau, offering a blend of Armenian and Lebanese cuisines. The menu features a variety of Middle Eastern delights such as falafels, kebabs, tarator, and fresh salads. Guests can also enjoy an assortment of dips including hummus and babaganoush, along with marinated meats and vegetarian options.
Fantastic food experience with nice service. We had two menus for two persons, and it’s full, delicious with a good experience, I love the fried beef and the main plat, they are both delicious. Want to visit and taste again.

Fantastic little restaurant, quirky and charming. The best falafels I have ever had. Great flavours and service. We were happy to find it and we shall definitely go back when we are in Pau again. It got busy quickly and it's quite small so I recommend that you go early to get a table.
Laura C — Google review
Tasty value in Pau Thoroughly enjoy the variety of middle eastern food here. Crunchy fresh salads, various dips (hummus, babaganoush, +), marinated white and red meats, falafels, and many vegetarian options. A small, reasonably priced selection of wines from Lebanon and Greece. You might know some items/dishes, but others are completely different. They offer fresh mint tea during or after your meal. On the service side, the friendly staff and overall hospitality is refreshing. We were turned away a few times so a reservation is suggested. Just a few minute walk from the main, older area, and well worth it!
Lynn G — Google review

Alex D — Google review
A superb restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by the interior decor comprising Moroccan lamps, colourful walls and tapestries, a fish tank and fairy lights and partitioned areas for more character. The delightful food was more than enough to satisfy our appetite with tempting Armenian and Lebanese specialities. We tried the Bôreks hot starters (4 pastries stuffed with nuts and meat), with drinks comprising mint tea with honey and Almaza Lebanese beer). We enjoyed mains consisting of 2 hot platters - Shish Taluk and Kofta served with Falafel and Moussaka. Then to finish with different flavours of Turkish Delight. Helpful service provided by our waiter who looked after us well. Reasonable prices and good quality meal.

Nestled in a charming locale, Le Canard Royal is a delightful restaurant that showcases the rich culinary traditions of the South West of France, with a special focus on duck-based dishes. The ambiance is both refined and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate authentic regional cuisine. The chef takes pride in crafting creative recipes that highlight local ingredients, inviting guests to explore the flavors of the region through their meals.
Enjoyed very good food and wine, Arno made the experience even better. If you enjoy duck this is the place to be, cookrd to perfection as ordered. We were sitting outside with occasional street singers performance, vero cozy and definitely recommended. The desserts could be a bit improved, tiramisu was overall ok, but far from the good traditional tiramisu.
Laura V — Google review
Absolutely amazing! Very friendly, hospitable staff and delicious food. Go here if you like duck, you will not be disappointed.
Alex A — Google review
I had an excellent experience at le Canard Royal. My starter was fried foie gras with porcini and chanterelle mushrooms served with a super light foie gras foam. The main was a burger made out of duck breast meat cooked to perfection, it was also served with goat cheese and fried potatoes. The desert was called le Café Royal and was a sampler of several of the deserts. Service was excellent and although I know a bit of French most of our communication was done in English.

I tried the duck Brochette with the gratin on a business trip months ago, it was so good that I had to bring my wife here from Britany for her to try it! She loved it too.

Took the Cassoulet Royal, simple yet classy. Very delicious and perfect for a cold and rainy night. Generous portion. Service was attentive and quick. Thanks
Dylan L — Google review
The restaurant is quaint and cosy. We loved how quiet it was, as we could talk easily. The food was really good. Dishes predominantly duck (Canard). There were 3 main courses that did not include duck. Steak, vegetable thai curry style and a scallops n shrimp dish (devine!). .drinks were well presented and the service top notch!

Enjoyed the duck platter last night, it was a challenge to finish due to the huge size, recommend 3 people to complete easily but every bite was delicious and of course the duck was cooked to perfection. Service could be a little better/ more attentive. Takes a long time between interactions with the waiter but on the other hand I guess it's nice to not be rushed.

Nestled in the charming neighborhood near the Château de Pau, Le Dauphin is a delightful culinary gem that specializes in seafood dishes, including mussels, paella, and exquisite seafood platters. The restaurant boasts a cozy interior adorned with nautical decor and portholes that evoke a maritime ambiance. For those who prefer dining al fresco, the terrace offers an inviting space to soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the surrounding square during warmer months.
We spent a week in Pau for our friends wedding and stumbled across this amazing and beautiful restaurant Le Dauphin. The setting was stunning and the atmosphere was perfect. We did our best to translate the menu but were lucky enough to be served by an English speaking waiter who recommend several dishes. The food was the best seafood I have ever experienced, so much so, we returned again to feast on the amazing selection of food. Thank you Le Dauphin!

Both the food and ambience were very good but the service was very poor indeed. As it happened, my wife and I weren't as hungry as usual so were only wanted main courses and some wine; when the waiter realised we didn't need starters, desserts and coffee, he lost interest completely. No-one asked us if our food was alright and we had to ask for wipes to clean our fingers after eating shellfish. After 3 weeks of travelling around and eating out, this was the first time that we didn't leave a tip.

We had a terrific dinner at Le Dauphin during a very hot summer evening. The food was fantastic- poached salmon was divine, as was the ambiance on the terrace. Great service, and overall a great meal.

Nice location very near the chateau in a small square surrounded by other eateries. In warmer weather the square is full with tables to enjoy the outdoor ambience. On a dull winters day the inside dining is cozy and pleasant with a second floor if it gets really busy. Food was excellent as was the attention and service from the staff. If you like seafood this place is worth finding and all at a reasonable price.

Nestled in the heart of Pau, Le Garage is a unique restaurant and bar that has been captivating locals and visitors alike since 1993. Housed in a former auto repair shop, this establishment boasts an eclectic ambiance filled with industrial charm. The decor features an array of memorabilia, including vintage traffic lights and road signs that dangle from the ceiling, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. Le Garage is not just about its quirky aesthetic; it also serves up creative pub grub alongside expertly crafted cocktails.
One of the best places in Pau to chill out. Good beer selection, Guinness, very good burgers, starters etc. Good service, nice interior, plenty of room. Parking can be a bit of a hassle if you drive but not the end of the world Recommended

A funky, loud, lively Irish pub with good food and great service. One of the few restaurants open on Sundays in Pau. They don't take reservations on weekends, and by getting there just after 7 pm, we immediately got a table. And then the place started filling up! I had really good barbecued spare ribs with macaroni and cheese, and it was just like my Mom used to make! We had a great time!

A proper pub with Guiness on the tap, sport on TV and decent fish&chips on the menu (apart from the sauce ;). Will come back definitely !

I stayed in Pau for 2 nights and ended up here both nights for dinner and a few pints. The menu is gastropub style, BBQ ribs, burgers and entrecote grille. The guinness is very good and I tested it extensivley. The barmen speak perfect English and are very friendly. The whisky selection is very wide too.
Allen B — Google review
Service was fine. My wife had pork ribs which she liked. I had the Entrecote which was virtually unchewable. We both shared what were supposed to be calamari but tasted more like potato rings. Great place to watch sports and drink. Do not eat there. I was somewhat put out by the owner's response to my critique. He suggests that I should have returned my steak. I don't like to complain. I simply eat elsewhere the next time. But after reading his aggressive response to anyone who has negative things to say about his establishment, it is clear that he is simply a defensive and unhappy person.

Tajinier Pau - Billère offers a unique and authentic Moroccan dining experience that transports you straight to Marrakech. This all-you-can-eat buffet, priced at an affordable 19.90, is always bustling with patrons eager to savor the delicious homemade dishes prepared by talented Moroccan women. The restaurant boasts a spacious interior adorned with handcrafted decorations from Morocco, creating an inviting atmosphere. The large terrace features a bar and grill kitchen, perfect for enjoying meals outdoors when the weather permits.
Le Tajinier is an original and authentic Moroccan concept. The Moroccan all-you-can-eat buffet concept seems a risk under control, because at € 19.90 the price, the restaurant is still full. The restaurant has a large room decorated by hand by a Moroccan craftsman who draws the staff alone for two months. The large terrace with the bar and the grill kitchen already takes you to Marrakech. The strong point of this restaurant is the homemade and cooked by Moroccan women. The restaurant has private parking. There is nothing to say about the value for money. It's one of the best restaurants in Pau.

Nestled in the heart of Pau, just a stone's throw from the bustling Place de Verdun parking area, lies the hidden gem known as Restaurant Cotes & Mer. This charming eatery is tucked away in a serene courtyard, providing a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle. If you're a seafood lover, this spot is sure to impress with its extensive menu featuring an array of fish dishes, shellfish, and delectable oysters.
You could walk past this restaurant everyday and not know it exists! Tucked away down an alley next to the Place de Verdun parking area (very convenient if you’re driving into Pau) only the sign over the entrance archway gives it away. There’s a nice small area outside for dining but not an option for us on a rainy summers day sadly. However, inside the restaurant opens up into a warehouse/studio/gallery style very appealing to the eye being airy and spacious with a nice ambience and busy for a Thursday lunchtime. This is the first seafood restaurant I have reviewed in France and can say happily I am very pleased with the whole experience. Entrees of smoked trout pour moi and deep fried squid with an awesome garlic aioli for the Mrs were both delicious. The portion sizes are on the large side for both starters and mains so don’t eat too much bread before the food arrives! Main courses, the rouge platter, consisting of Lobster, Prawn, Langoustine and Crab was exceptional, beautifully presented, and enough for two, but polished off with relish by one! Six large prawns with cold roasted vegetables and a large baked potato made up the other dish. Both stunning and very filling not often you leave a seafood restaurant feeling full to the brim. A very nice dry white wine from the Jurancon region paired wonderfully with all the dishes. Prices in line with other good City restaurants with a friendly and efficient customer service. All in all well worth a visit, we will be back again in the near future.

Not a bad address to eat fish in Pau center. Good and fast service, large choice in he menue. The appetisers and the desert were really good and the dishes ok, except for the sole, it wasn’t fresh and was not well cooked (it had blood). it was may be just a bad day for the cook, hence the 4 stars, not less. I will give it a second try.

During a recent culinary adventure in Lescar, I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Arraditz with my family. We chose the Menu Decouverte, which took us on an exquisite journey through Chef Nicolau's creative and skillful dishes, all made from top-notch local ingredients. The experience was elevated by delightful conversations with both Chef Nicolau and his wife, making it feel personal and warm. On another occasion, while exploring France with friends, we stumbled upon this gem for dinner.
I was taken to dinner at Arraditz about a week ago by visiting friends. I had never visited before and knew nothing about the restaurant nor what to expect. I can honestly say that it was one of the best dining experiences I have had in recent years. Arraditz is a true jewel of a restaurant that should be frequented by all. The menu was well thought out, the food was sublime and exquisitely presented. As for the service, I was amazed to discover at the end of the evening that in fact there were only 3 people working the entire restaurant: Olivier (the chef), Karine (the hostess, server and pastry chef!) and Christian (sommelier, server and cheese expert). We only met Olivier at the end of the meal but Christian and Karine ran the service smoothly, never once showing anything but professionalism. Our interactions with them actually enhanced the whole dining experience. We ate well, drank well and lingered for 3 hours all the while being made to feel valued and appreciated. An additional thing to mention… I had not read any reviews before going to Arraditz but subsequently read many that aligned with my own sentiments. However I feel it important to address the subject of racial discrimination raised by one reviewer. I cannot speak to their experience as I was not present at the time but as a woman of colour I did not find any evidence of the accusations made by the reviewer. On the contrary, as I have already said, I found the service to have been genuine and warm as well as professional and I enjoyed a lovely chat with Karine, Olivier and Christian at the end of the night. Please do not let that one review put you off or prevent you from experiencing a truly wonderful example of dining out at its finest. This is a restaurant and team that deserve to be supported and helped to prosper.

Our family of five enjoyed an unforgettable lunch today at Restaurant Arraditz in Lescar. Opting for the Menu Découverte, we were treated to an exquisite culinary journey that showcased the incredible talent and creativity of Chef Nicolau and her wife. Each dish was a perfect harmony of flavors, crafted with the finest local ingredients. What made our experience truly special was the warm and engaging conversation we had with Chef Nicolau and his wife. Their passion for their craft and dedication to creating memorable dining experiences shone through every word. The combination of outstanding cuisine, attentive service, and the personal connection made this meal an absolute highlight. Restaurant Arraditz is a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary gastronomic adventure!

We were invited by friends and had an absolutely magical evening. Incredible what a super talented and dedicated team of 3 people (!!!) can achieve. Quick advice: you had better get your booking in quickly before the knowledge of this 2/3 star dining experience at 1 star prices spreads , lines will form around the block and the waiting time for a table becomes intolerably long.

During a trip to France, we found this restaurant and went with a group of 5 for dinner and had an absolutely amazing experience. The food was inventive, yet classic and everything was not only perfectly prepared, the whole flow of the dinner was wonderful. Needless to say, we lingered and left well taken care of. On top of that, I felt that the value for service and food was really good - this is an exceptional restaurant. If you can, also walk around Lescar a bit -- a beautiful, old town with a lot of French charm. One note: during our research, we read reviews and I feel the need to address the issue of prejudice mentioned in one review. We had a mixed-race group of people and at no time did we feel anything but care and respect by everyone on the staff at Arraditz. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Nestled in one of the oldest squares of Pau, Le Café du Passage offers a delightful dining experience right in the heart of the pedestrian zone. With a shaded terrace perfect for summer days, families can relax while children play safely near the fountain. The menu features an array of delicious dishes, including a standout pork rib that is juicy and perfectly balanced with its sauce. Diners rave about the fresh and thoughtfully presented meals, complemented by friendly and professional staff who are happy to assist in English.
When me and my colleague ask for a recommendation from the waiter, he said ''everything in this shop is good sir''. I was like... ''hmm... okay''. So I ordered the prok rib which is one and only pork dish in the menu. When the waitress come and serve my prok rib, I was like, ''man, this is the kind of pork that i'm talking about'' the meat was juicy, tender, meat and fat were well balanced plus the sauce is not overwhelming. I can 110% appreciate the quality of the meat. And the waiter recommended a wine that really goes well with my meat. The waiters were very friendly and did a great job. I'm gonna come back if I happen to come to Pau again.

A great experience! The food was amazing, I got fish with carrots, the whole carrots concept was with different types of carrots and different preparation of carrots (salty carrot cake, carrots in vinegar, cooked carrot) very original. Deserts were amazing with just the perfect quantity of sugar (little sugar). I would live to go back, it was however just on the way for our road trip. We were quite let down by our experience, some aspects in the service were not where they should be. Overall the food was good but heavy. The andouillette amuse bouche was very fatty, the lobster accra was oversized yet lacked flavor. The main dish (pigeon) was enjoyable, the meat was cooked well and quite juicy. There were not many vegetables or greens in the dishes though, they were mostly all composed of meat/egg/foams. We chose to skip the cheese cart, and instead get an extra dessert (3 total). The desserts were enjoyable, even after the surprise of having Girolles mushrooms in one of them. There's a significant number of flies in the dining area and the kitchen, yet the staff literally brushes them away, and they land on their open cheese cart. At some point in the meal, they brought us a pitcher with a stink bug on it, and when we pointed it out, it was summarily brushed to the floor.

Food was really good. Even restaurant’s chef came out and asked about his work. Which we were really pleased. Instead of, Service was a bit poor from the restaurant’s Maitre. Took ages to have the menu. My wife eats little, we were pushed to have each a 5 courses option, because restaurant doesn’t serve one of 3 and another of 5 courses. Excuse gave, to eat all at the same time. Maitre showed lack of interest while presenting different courses of food, speaking at high speed, no room for questions. He seemed in a rush. And bothered when questioned. Concerning wine, I chose 3 glasses of wine, one with each plate, start, main course and dessert. On the 3rd glass of wine, even not a chance to try it. He just poured the wine. The experience in general is worth, just restaurant needs to improve on their service skills. Quite poor considering the price.

Small (less than 50 covers that I could see) but classy restaurant in a great location opposite the church of St Martin just a five minute walk from Henry IV Castle. Anyway back to the restaurant, it has a mezzanine floor, ground floor and outside dinning in a cozy area. The outside tables which are limited I’m sure, have to be booked well in advance on a sunny day because they have a superb view over to the church and people watching must be as good as the aspect The menu at lunchtime is a plate de jour with a choice of two for each course, starter, main and desert. Now, I have always been a lover of massive menu choice spending ages mulling over what to choose and always ending up with more or less the same food! Now I am becoming a lover of the semi set menu as it directs you to a different choice, one you may never normally opt for. So far I have never been disappointed with any of the dishes and In fact I have enjoyed a much broader spectrum of food and tastes doing so. Back to the restaurant, Starter, cold thick zucchini soup with octopus, asparagus, chorizo and a rice ball thingy- delicious. Main - grilled Hake with asparagus sauce and vegetables- Devine. Desert- strawberry mashed with cream and bergamot. The flavour combination of all three dishes was outstanding. Service was a bit hit and miss but didn’t spoil our visit. If you find yourself around this area of Pau book a table or take a chance to walk in, you will not be disappointed.

Not unusual to have a limited choice for lunch but the upside is excellent food and leads one to opt for something different as indeed I did. The avocado and crayfish mousse starter was fabulous and so good I’d eaten it before taking a photo! Main was Sea Bream on a bed of leek and black rice all in a delightful sauce. For desert a very rich mascarpone and crunchy caramel topping ..yum. The only reason I have not given a 5 star rating is for the location which is on a busy thoroughfare so if you have chosen to dine outside conversation is quite challenging. That said there is nothing much they can do about that so taking the important things into account a very nice place to eat, but go inside.

Restaurant O'Gascon is a delightful culinary gem nestled in Pau, perfect for those seeking an authentic local dining experience. After a leisurely stroll around the area, we stumbled upon this charming spot just in time for lunch before our visit to the Chateau de Pau. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with simple yet tasteful decor that added to its charm. We were promptly seated and impressed by the swift service.
Very friendly and great atmosphere. Food was bang on: a great salad and an even better steak @450g. Decent bottle of Corbières to wash it all down. Not too expensive either. Recommended.

Overall not bad, especially when there aren't a lot of options for Sunday lunch. The service started off pretty perfunctory, but improved a lot through the meal. My husband and I both had the "Chef's Menu" with good options for entree, main, and dessert. We both had the salad Landaise for a starter -- delicious with four types of duck. The gizzards were like perfect little croutons hiding in your salad. I had the mushroom omelette -- generous size with lots of mushrooms. He had the squid with chorizo -- yum. The fries on both our plates were sad -- not crispy at all. We had the gateau basque for dessert, which tasted like it was in the freezer until shortly before they served it. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass.

We arrived in Pau a little after 1pm and were looking for a place to have lunch before visiting the Château de Pau in the afternoon. Many restaurants were closed, some were full or had no more food to serve, and we chanced upon this restaurant while wandering around. We were seated immediately and were able to order pretty quickly. The food was delicious and the service was good as well. Would definitely recommend!

Frogs legs were small but fairly tasty and beautifully presented, bearnaise salad was large and delicious, husbands steak was huge and cooked as liked, chestnut cake was to die for - dense and flavoursome, creme brulee tasty - not as soft as some but delicious. Service was outstanding with the lovely Magdelena helping us with understanding the menu. Atmosphere good with simple decor. 👌

Nestled in the heart of a bustling commercial area, Chez Giovanni Trattoria is just a short five-minute drive from downtown. This charming eatery boasts an extensive menu that includes not only mouthwatering pizzas but also delectable antipasti, risottos, pastas, and succulent meats. Despite its slightly off-center location in Pau, the restaurant draws in crowds of satisfied diners who rave about the vibrant atmosphere and welcoming service.
I have travelled the world and Giovanni’s pizzas are simply the best. The dough is pure poetry.

If you want to see something you never saw before go here. The pizza was overbaked and the flavour of tomato defused all the other flavours. I didnt enjoy my stay at all. The waitress wasnt really nice to us and it took years to pay for our food. And the floor was sticky and not clean. And they even got 2 different menus where the prices are different for the same food. Wouldnt reccomend at all

Worth the effort to find this restaurant which is a fair way from the center of Pau. We arrived just after midday and the place was already nearly full and busy with happy eaters. I reckon of the 120+ covers we were the only foreigners, very unusual for a City location and probably testament to the good food and service. There are plenty of photos already posted on the site so I have added a couple of our favourites. The hugely busy pizza oven and our fab deserts. This is not a pizzeria but the pizzas are clearly very popular from what we could see being served. We shared fried squid to start and both enjoyed prawn risotto for mains. Very filling and very tasty. The wine was very reasonably priced with a pitcher of 50cl house red or white costing just €7.40 and easily drinkable! All in all, good food, good service, and reasonably priced, well worth a try but phone to book a table to avoid disappointment.

Barely tolerable food. This place serves a poor substitute for Mexican food. We dined on a Wednesday evening and were the ONLY people in a pretty big place. Apparently the locals of Pau agree with us. We lived in the U.S. for 60 years in a county one-third Mexican. We have spent time in Mexico and know Mexican food. The food at "Mexicain" is a pale, tasteless substitute. In addition, the owner was the rudest restaurant worker we have encountered in 8 eight years living in France. A true jerk who does not even speak Spanish who told us we should work on our French? Because we asked where the toilets are? Who needs this? Avoid this place unless you are truly, truly desperate.

The restaurant is roomy without being sparse - has the feel of an orangery. It has enough formality to make it feel like the real thing but in a relaxed and convivial way. The staff were truly excellent, quickly came up with options for special needs and helped us through the menu with English where needed. The FOOD, the food was incredible. Very good food, but you can’t book and you have to queue outside for a table during busy periods, which wouldn’t be so bad if they let you sit on the nice terrace beside the river and served you a beer or an aperitif whilst you looked at the menu and waited for a table. Once you get inside, the service is very good, so this is a message to the owner or the manager to treat people who support the restaurant with a little more humanity. Waiting outside for 45 minutes whilst diners leave or pop out for a cigarette and smoked all over you is not enjoyable when you can see a well-stocked bar. You could employ a young waiter to serve drinks, there is more profit in serving drinks than anything else, and you will be making your customers happier!!

I had a fabulous meal here where all aspects of the experience (service, food, atmosphere) were exceptional. The tasting menu was a creative tour de force, full of surprising and ingenious combinations, little flourishes of Japanese cuisine bumping up against traditional French gastronomy, and nuanced earth/water juxtapositions. As well as the first class food and fabulous service, the price was exceptional too. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

We just had two main dishes (plat): Seafood of the day with spring flavors and a citrus beurre blanc, and mushroom and lamb pasta with a Parmesan tuile. Both were super delicious. The pasta was rich and so flavorful! Attention to detail, helpful and friendly staff, very clean restaurant. Located off the main downtown area. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. For the atmosphere, cleanliness, dish presentation, helpfulness of staff, and flavor of the dishes, I give them 5-stars!

(Translated by Google) We chose to go to this restaurant thanks to the very good reviews on Tripadvisor and Google! None of us were disappointed. The welcome was perfect and everything was in compliance with health rules (we even had small wipes to clean our hands). The dishes awaken your taste buds like never before. You will feel like you are traveling and will be happy to eat. In addition to the pleasure shared with your loved ones in this warm atmosphere, the joy will be even more there thanks to these dishes made with love. Not to mention the presentation! Before the taste pleasure, there is that of the eyes. (Another positive point for the location of the restaurant which I liked a lot). Really, everything was perfect and we will return without hesitation. Now, it's your turn to discover Anita's cuisine! The restaurant was almost full on Sat evening. The service was very friendly, the chief too was talking to us, asking us if we need anything. They have lots of types of grills. Came there with my family on Friday evening, 20th of April 2018, the restaurant was nearly empty. Waited for 20 minutes to get the menu. Then waited for 20 minutes more to make the order but the waiters never approached. Decided to leave because we've become tired and hungry. The waiters showed a complete indifference: no excuses, no goodbye. Incredibly bad service. Went to another restaurant where we were perfectly served.

Visited this restaurant several times as the food and service is always consistent. Set in a great location at the Place Royale within easy walking distance to the castle and most shopping venues and in warmer months outside dining is available which is always a treat. Large seating capacity so never had a problem just turning up without a reservation which can’t be said for many of the restaurants around this area. Such a great place! Food was tasty with fresh local ingredients and very generous portions! The decoration is simply fabulous (quite psychedelic, playlist from 70- 80's with loads of very cool details inside). I visited this place on the 6th of July with three black girlfriends and the restaurant staff refused to serve us. The restaurant had a lot of available tables, we sited in one and the staff started to make excuses to kick us out of there. Since the excuses didn't make sense, he just asked us to leave. We didn't do anything to receive this treatment, the staff was clearly racist.

I have made a reservation online for 18:45, and I reconfirmed my reservation because I was asked to do so by the reservation system. However, in fact the restaurant does not open until 19:00, and when we go over to ask about what was wrong about the reservation, we got unfriendly "it is full, you're reservation is for the other sister restaurant across the street le comptoir o petit pau" which is not true. I do not understand how difficult it could be for a restaurant to check their online reservation system and make corresponding correction.
Shannon — Google review
For a 4.6 star average review this place sure was disappointing. The “crab and crayfish toast” entree was a cheap version of something that could have been fine tuned. Not crab. Not crayfish and not even on toast just a piece of limp bread heaped with mayo (no doubt the cheapest ingredient). Then the rump of the porc cooked sous vide in advance but barely cooked and rushed out of the blaster oven after 1-2 mins meant it had zero caramelization on the exterior and once more the majority of the plate was filled (why fill the plate if you are a 4.6 star place???) with artichoke creme unnecessarily, not even foam, but still a thick glutinous cream. It made the whole dish seem like a piece of raw unfinished pig had invaded an artichoke soup. Very unrefined. I arrived at 8:30pm and the restaurant was half empty but still I was placed as a single cover at a “bar” where it was very uncomfortable and next to a sliding door which announced the customer toilet. Here 5 weeks in Pau and this was the worst place I have visited yet. One very young slave doing all of the “cooking”. Beware nothing is cooked fresh. You’d think with an open kitchen they would be front and centre entertaining. Nope they let one guy plop pre-cooked sous-vide meats from pre bagged status onto a plate and slam it in a blaster oven to give the effect of freshly made. Meanwhile a sniffling bearded gent employee wipes his nose with his fingers every 10 secs and saunters in and out of the premises like he has some kind of prestige. One young and older maître d are very charming and do their best and tbh this was the best part of this dinner. The ONLY reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was the effort from the waitresses.

Very disappointed with our lunch. Having read good reviews our expectations were high. The fish for our main course was so small ...two bites and it was gone. The accompanying "vegetable" was tasteless. Will not return.

We were disappointed with our recent visit to O Petit Pau. We have eaten here a number of times before and we've always thought it was great food, great service and good value for money. However, we went for dinner last Friday and unfortunately the service wasn't great. We were offered a drink for an apéro, but once we'd finished, we weren't offered another. The main courses were underseasoned and expensive for what we got. Then, we ordered dessert and waited for 45 mins/an hour for the desserts to arrive, but apparently there was a bug on the system and the order hadn't gone through. We weren't offered any compensation (free drink/dessert etc). Sorry for giving negative feedback, because usually we love this restaurant. Hoping that it will be better next time we come as it's a great location and usually the service and food is much better!

A standout touch is the complimentary in-between course dishes, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. Highly recommended for those looking for a well-executed fine dining experience.

(Translated by Google) An excellent restaurant with a menu with two starter options, two main courses, and a dessert menu featuring typical regional sheep cheese, or if you prefer, a sweet option from the à la carte menu. All for €34. The lady who served us was very friendly, and the food was delicious. Definitely a place to keep in mind. Thank you, beaocoup! (Original) Excelente restaurante, dispone de un menú con dos opciones para entrante, otras dos para principal y de postre ofrecen queso de oveja típico de la región o si prefieres una opción dulce de carta. (Translated by Google) A restaurant I recommend. I'm from Pau, and in Pau there are many very good restaurants, but this one stands out with its fresh, seasonal produce. A restaurant so good that I'll give it one star. The waitress is super nice and kind. Of course, we wait a long time, but it's worth it. We leave the restaurant feeling unwell, not like in some restaurants. Thank you so much for this wonderful time. I hope I'll come back soon. 🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍 I admire your cuisine.

Le San Francisco is an incredible establishment where one can indulge in authentic Mexican cuisine while also having the opportunity to brush up on their French language skills courtesy of the owner. The dining experience here is truly remarkable, with delectable dishes that are both scrumptious and made from the freshest ingredients. What sets this restaurant apart is its efficient service, as patrons only have to wait a short time - around ten minutes - for their food to be served.
Amazing place to eat Mexican food and learn some French from the owner. The food was really nice and very fresh. We only waited for around ten minutes until it was served. I especially liked how they prepare the meat dishes - very tender and aromatic.

(Translated by Google) The food was really good, even excellent, nothing to complain about. However, the welcome was a big drawback: the waitresses were closed, not a single smile, we felt like we were bothering everyone from start to finish. It's a shame, because the atmosphere could have been much more pleasant with a little more human warmth. (Original) La cuisine était vraiment bonne, voire excellente, rien à redire sur les plats. (Translated by Google) Insufficient heating, forced to keep jacket and coat for lunch, other customers too!!! Unacceptable in my opinion to receive like this, knowing that today the weather forecast gives precise forecasts. The room needs a big refresh and even more at the level of the bay windows, cracked floors and walls. Half bottle of sparkling water with mold on the back of the labels, not great for the visual! Meal adequate but nothing more and too expensive for what you have on the plate, 64 euros for 2 dishes.

Pizzeria l'Entrecôte is a delightful gem that stands out in the quiet ambiance of a mid-August night.
