Nestled in the heart of Cirencester, The Bear Inn is a delightful 18th-century pub that perfectly blends history with modern comfort. With its charming ambiance featuring original wooden beams and a cozy fireplace, it invites guests to unwind in style. The menu boasts an array of beloved pub classics, including Baked Camembert and the renowned Sunday roast, all complemented by an impressive selection of local cask ales.
We had an amazing Easter Weekend 🐣 at the Bear Inn! The pub is lovely, the outdoor garden is beautiful when it’s sunny and the food was delicious! The Easter Sunday triple roast was huge, the burger super tasty but their desserts were the highlight 🤩 Special shoutout to the waitresses on that day who did an amazing job, had the best vibes, made the atmosphere feel very family like, especially the lovely Italian lady who served us the desserts! 10/10

Lovely family pub in the beautiful Cirencester. The indoor is really beautiful, very well kept and cosy. Food was delicious: i had their burger, my fiancee a fish and chips and my parents the steak. Service was attentive, friendly, the team was very well trained. Well done Bear Inn!

Popped in for a bite of lunch when visiting the area. Really nice food and atmosphere. We sat in the outside area which was dog friendly. My only criticism would be that it took a while for food to arrive but it was worth the wait x

I came with my dad for the Father’s Day menu, we both ended up having the same delicious two-course dinner. The atmosphere was lively and Alannah was friendly and helpful throughout. A wonderful meal after a warm day at the car show!

Stopped off on a journey thru. What a little gem. Right on the high street & close to the Forum car park. I had the hummus bowl 👌🏼*chef’s kiss and an ice cold G&T on one of the hottest days of the year. Garden seating too and rooms. Cheers guys!!

Enjoyed a late lunch in this upscale pub. Had the sausage and fish&chips mains - both excellent. Great service. Many menu options. Nice historic pub atmosphere.
Renan M — Google review
Quite a large place with a decent patio area at the front. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. Decently decorated. Enjoyed my visit.
Paul P — Google review
Absolutely loved my visit to this pub! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with just the right balance of lively and relaxed. The ambience made it a perfect spot to unwind, whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet pint. The Sunday roast was a real highlight—generous portions, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. A thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend

Pizza restaurant
Amore Mio is a charming restaurant known for its delicious sourdough crust pizzas, appetizers, and delightful gelato. The unfussy establishment offers patio seating and a welcoming atmosphere. Visitors praise the delectable pizza with flavorful sauce and the divine coffee. The staff's friendliness and attentiveness are also highlighted, making it a great place for families. The menu includes an extensive selection of wines and refreshing beers on tap.
To start the staff are very friendly and the restaurant has a great ambiance. The service is fantastic from the minute you walk in through the door. The food was delicious, we were a large group and no one had anything bad to say regarding the food. The only thing I wish was the portion size was slightly larger only because their food is so delicious. A must visit, keep up the good work.
Kumail S — Google review
We have passed this restaurant many times, looked at the menu and thought we really should try it. Well this week we did. It was lunchtime on a Tuesday lunchtime and it was quiet, so getting a table was not a problem. I suspect during busier periods booking would be sensible. The ambience was good with quite a chilled vibe. Service was very quick, friendly and professional. The menu is extensive enough for all tastes and whilst not cheap, proved to be excellent value for money given the quality of the food and the care taken in preparing it. The wine list is good, with a good selection of wines by the glass. I ordered one of the risottos because a) I love a good risotto and b) I find it's a reasonable way of gauging the care and skill of the chef. Mine was extremely good! Likewise my wife's chicken and roasted vegetable salad. My coffee semifredo was delightful and a mention should go to the olives which we had instead of a starter, excellent. So if you enjoy Italian food that is made with skill and care, do give this place a visit, it'll be worth it.

Came here for my partners 30th birthday tonight. All we can say is WOW, the food was outstanding, completely faultless we did not want it to end. We were full but still had food envy watching other tables food come out after eating ours, as it was simply that delicious. Could not fault this place from start to finish, thank you for an unforgettable evening. PS, make sure you book ahead, we saw at least 5 couples get turned away due to not booking - make sure you do, you won’t regret it.

On a Friday night, upon arrival with no booking, the manager skillfully and kindly prepared us a table in a few minutes. Food was splendid. Attention to details was seen in penne pesto served with pine nuts. Pizza was delicious to its dough. Gelato - sorbet with cream based added a lovely touch. Not to mention their limoncello spritz. Wonderful place of delicious meal and ambience
Hs L — Google review
Had a great lunch today—penne was full of flavour and satisfying. Tasty onions rings. Ambience and Aura was calming. Friendly service. Will visit again.

A Slice of Italy in Every Bite – From the moment we stepped into this charming Italian gem, we were swept away by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, offering genuine smiles. Their passion for Italian cuisine truly shines through. Now, the star of the show: the authentic Neapolitan pizza. Crafted with a beautifully blistered sourdough base, it was light, airy, and packed with deep, fermented flavor – the kind you’d expect in the heart of Naples. Topped with fresh ingredients and baked to perfection, it was nothing short of phenomenal. I wish if they can do Vegetarian options like Veg Supreme. The overall service was excellent, with each course arriving at a comfortable pace and presented with care. We did indulge in dessert, and while the affogato was a nice finish, it fell a little short of the traditional Italian preparation – a richer espresso and a smoother gelato would elevate it to the standard of the rest of the meal. It’s worth noting that prices lean on the higher end, but given the quality of the food, service, and setting, it still feels like a fantastic experience overall.
Sanmat J — Google review
The food was so delicious, fresh and hot, though we were slightly disappointed with the antipasti price. Great wine list. Fabulous friendly, attentive staff. The pizza chef was great and obviously took so much pride in his work, cleaning down everything when not making pizzas. A great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.
Sam H — Google review
Ordered 2 pizzas and a vegetable risotto. The pizzas are great, however the risotto is unacceptable, they are using frozen veggies and the risotto is tasteless. The service is ok though.

Modern British restaurant
Bistro
Breakfast restaurant
MBB Brasserie is a vibrant bistro and deli in Cirencester, offering a chic Euro-English dining experience. The modern decor with chrome accents and contemporary art creates an inviting atmosphere. Diners can enjoy the excitement of watching their meals being prepared in the open-plan kitchen. The menu features stylish dishes bursting with flavor, including a variety of small plates and a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Established in 2008, this restaurant is perfect for social gatherings with friends and family.
If you're in Cirencester and looking for exquisite food then make a visit to MBB Brasserie a priority. The scallops topped with caviar and served with a truffle foam are just outstanding , but then every dish we tried was of equal standard. The focus here isn't on just presentation its priority is flavour, and the flavours in this menu are just outstanding. I had tried the haddock as a main which could have been good but what elevated it to outstanding was the fact it was cooked to perfection and the flavour combined the grilled element with a hint of lemon that elevated this to an outstanding dish where it's all about flavour. The desserts are also a work of art but once again it's the flavours that win out. All of this is backed up by great service and a restaurant that is very well designed and stylish. Highly recommended.

We were met with a friendly smile and a welcoming 'Hello'. The mission was to have a relax couple of days and it was fully accomplished. Not only we enjoyed breakfast were the poached eggs were cooked to perfection, but we also had the pleasure to have dinner twice at this gem. It is clear the chef knows how to create delicious combinations, from starters to puddings. We tried a starter, three mains, and four different puddings in total. All our empty plates were a testament to the high quality food. All in all, delicious food friendly staff and relax atmosphere.

What an amazing restaurant. The food was outstanding, the wine list was extensive and most importantly, the customer service was the best we've ever had. Ben the manager was exceptional, he made us feel like royalty the entire time we were there. All of the staff were superb. If you go to Cirencester, visit this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
Garry L — Google review
Went here 2 nights in a row. Service was fantastic and food was great! Simple menu that you could easily order everything on the menu. Brought our 10 month old and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Highly recommended
Steven A — Google review
This restaurant looks great from the outside. Great big open kitchen and the menu has plenty of interesting classic dishes. The food itself is fairly average and we thought that some dishes like the various tapas style dishes we tried didn't taste great and were dissapointing. We also didn't like the sea food casserole which the waiter said was one of the most popular dishes, it was a seafood soup with overcooked fish and just didn't taste great. We loved the special of grilled hake, it was really good although a bit pricey. The service was lovely, and the team made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Hopefully next time the actual food will be better.
Shai Z — Google review
Highly Recommended. Michelin rated restaurant (good prices), that has amazing food, cooked - prepared in front of you, appetizers are delicious, main course meals are very delicious and the dessert strongly recommended. We ate here today and we are glad we came here. Customer service is amazing, the place is very clean and the food is awesome, as mentioned before. Ambience is perfect, waiting staff is brilliant. I ordered the oysters, served with lemon, Tabasco hot sauce and a serving bowl of chopped up pickled onion and peppercorn; it was delicious. My main course meal was the ribeye steak (medium well) with a cheese sauce and my side order was broccoli with melted cheese; the steak was perfect - mouth watering - very delicious and the broccoli was really good. My colleagues also purchased the freshly baked goods and they were delicious. If your ever in this beautiful town, you have to come and eat here; you will thank me later.

We stopped for a quick lunch at Made by Bob. I had the mussels and fries. It was very moorish and the mussels were well presented. My better half had the pate. We had a side order of their homemade bread - also excellent. It's a great place with good service.

Had a lovely meal here for my wife's birthday. Keira, our waitress was a real gem and an asset to the business. Food was delicious and staff super friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again when I'm back in the area

Fish and chips takeaway
Malt & Anchor is a trendy and modern eatery that specializes in fish and chips, as well as savory pies. They also offer a selection of wine, champagne, and craft beer. The restaurant is highly popular and it's recommended to make a reservation in advance. Their signature dish is the regular cod loin with chips, served with mushy peas. Customers can also opt for additional toppings like curry sauce or onion rings.
You know when you stumble across a rare find that is truly amazing. This is what we found in the Cotswolds on our recent visit. We saw all the accolades when we entered, you know the best of this and that. In this case it was EXTREMELY true. There batter is very light and not greasy. The fish was very fresh and was great. Their service was amazing. Their server Jackie saw that my brother in law was having issues ordering because he is very Kosher. She make sure is meal was processed separately and served on parchment paper. He and us were VERY happy. This place deserves all the write ups they have gotten. This is the best fish and chips I have ever had.
Bob F — Google review
Lovely place for a lunch. Booked a table but it was super quiet, it was a hot day though. The food is excellent. I had the scampi, which for £20 was great value. I had a side of ham hock, leek and mushy peas which are excellent. Highly recommended
John M — Google review
One of the best fish and chips experiences I’ve had. The fish was incredibly fresh with a light, crispy batter and moist, flaky inside. The smashed peas were a standout – easily the best I’ve tasted. The salt and pepper squid was perfectly seasoned and impressively fresh. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive without being overbearing. Despite the restaurant’s popularity and steady crowd, the staff maintained excellent standards and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail showed their commitment to quality. Pricing was fair for the top-tier dining experience offered. Highly recommended for anyone seeking truly exceptional fish and chips and great service.
Peter N — Google review
We had a group of ten reserved, and sat down with no wait. Jackie took good care of us and the food was great. This place is really nice. Not too loud or crowded. The lobster mac and cheese was on another level. Be sure to book ahead of time. I did see some walk-ins turn away due to no seating. I would highly recommend this place and I will be going back on my next trip.
Phillip L — Google review
We order the fish and chips as a main and mussels as a starter. I have to say both are superb. I have been living in Grimsby for 7 years and after I tried fish and chips in so many places I always think the fish and chips in Grimsby are the country best. I am wrong! This restaurant is the best! Jackie is so friendly and we definitely need to come back again and again. (I changed from chips to sweet potato chips but the normal chips are great too!)
Ying W — Google review
From now on its in my top 3! Excellent fish and chips! I must say I could find nothing to fault! I had the fish & Chips and the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter nice crispy. excellent quality fish and chips and wonderful service!
AIKOUT M — Google review
Disappointing! Upon entering the Malt & Anchor, things looked promising. It was nicely decorated, appeared clean and tidy, and the staff were welcoming. Given the high prices, I was anticipating quality, tasty food. Unfortunately, the bubble batter prawns were a serious letdown, with the batter undercooked on the inside, causing the prawns to drown in wet batter. The ham hock mushy peas were nice, though the portion was small. The salt and pepper squid was flavoursome, albeit lacking in salt and pepper, and the few pieces seemed lost in a large box. The cod loin was tasty and meaty, yet marred by more soggy batter. The chips were dreadful. The cheesecake was fluffy and delicious, with a generous serving. Regrettably, although some aspects of the meal were enjoyable, too many items fell short, and it seemed overpriced for what was offered. Its my favourite Indian restaurant in Cirencester. The food is good spicy and hot. Not crazy expensive. Staff and very friendly and attentive. Nice large kingfishers.

The staff were incredibly, they could not have been more helpful. They were great at explaining the menu and even remade one of our dishes which we found too spicy. The food was so lovely, it was well presented and the menu had more variety than your average Indian restaurant. It was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere. Ideal for couples and quieter groups

My partner and I lived in Cirencester for the past year and gave this place a go on a random night when we first moved in. We moved from Manchester (curry mile) to Cirencester to be closer to family so we had experienced some decent ones previously. Safe to say they actually don’t hold a candle to this place. We didn’t have a bad meal there and I’d say we ordered probably every 2 weeks for the whole year. Big meal for 2 people ready in 25 mins every time, 10% discount if you collect and order on their website, ended up being the highlight of mine and my partners week to spend £30 on this amazing takeaway! Couldn’t recommend it enough if you live in Cirencester or visiting. Show this place some love!

I see why the ratings for this restaurant are so high. Friendly family run business. Excellent food, we had the salt and pepper Octopus to start, delicious and plenty of it. The weather had a beef noodle bowl and a katsu curry. Again very tasty and big portions. Rounded off with a slice of homemade biscotti cheesecake. Yum! All this and it was less than £50. Great value. My new favourite place to eat in Cirencester. See you soon.

Last Saturday we stopped in Cirencester on our way home from holiday. Not knowing the area we fell upon The Igloo by chance. The best bit of luck we had. We both had different meals and neither was disappointed. The food was excellent, with plenty of it. When I say that it's the best Breakfast that I've bought I don't say it lightly. All in all excellent value for money.

Not our first time for breakfast, if you have a big appetite the Bumpy really fills a gap! Téatro in Cirencester offers a fanciful space for breakfast, steaks, and afternoon tea, along with craft cocktails and live music. The restaurant boasts award-winning cocktails and a glamorous atmosphere. Guests can savor classics like cosmopolitans and espresso martinis or try signature concoctions such as honey rum rum and gin jam. The intimate piano bar features live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
We came here on the last day of our break to the Cotswolds. What a lovely surprise it was! The restaurant was busy but not heaving, the staff attentive, and the food was delicious. Even though there was a wedding in the garden, it did not affect diners in the main restaurant. As we finished our dinner, the live music started up in the bar, clearly a popular regular event. We joined the small crowd in the bar when we had finished up which made a great end to the evening.

We had an amazing steak dinner here – the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. After our meal, we were invited into the bar area, where a very talented pianist played for us for the rest of the evening. A lovely place to dine and enjoy quality time with your loved ones while in Cirencester

Delightful place for dinner. Really nice atmosphere, very friendly and efficient staff. There was excellent live music on (a friday night) which added to the ambience. A small but well put together menu with lots of options. There was a mix up with two of our main courses but this was rectified immediately and didn’t detract from an excellent evening. Would really recommend a visit.

It could have been an off day for them, but unfortunately nothing went well for our booking. The food and drink were not special and we had to send back 2 steaks because they were undercooked and not what was ordered. The manager tried to make up for the obvious sub par food being served. It was a special birthday celebration and the meal fell flat.

Booked for our 30th anniversary meal. Great place, staff, service and food. Looked after for the whole visit - can highly recommend
Roger M — Google review
My partner and I ate at Teatro tonight as we were staying at the hotel, however, we were not blown away by the food or the service. The restaurant was not even half full and we had to wait a while to be served, the food came 40 minutes later despite ordering the steak and the burger dish. The waitress put this down to having a table of 8 in, which, having worked in several restaurants does not justify such a delay. Lots of staff were working yet lots of waitresses kept walking past our table and did not acknowledge us or the evident delay. When the steak came it was luke warm and clearly had been sat for a while. One of the waiters was helpful and got this replaced however we were both over the meal by this point as it was late in the evening. The steak came with unseasoned and raw red cabbage which ruined the dish and would be better served with spinach or green beans. Spanish restaurant
La Bobina Cirencester is a Spanish tapas and wine bar located in an old Cotswold stone building, tucked away down a charming cobbled side street. The restaurant offers excellent value set tapas menus and features fun wine tasting machines. While the food is described as absolutely delicious, some customers found the portion sizes to be small for the prices. The service was noted to be slow due to limited kitchen staff, but the dishes were tasty and beautifully presented.
Visited here whilst staying in Cirencester and it did not disappoint! Lovely rustic decor with a bustling atmosphere and friendly staff. We had 6 x tapas dishes - Goats Cheese and Truffle, Chorizo, Pork Belly, Fried Cod, Minute Steak and Goats cheese and pesto flatbread. All were absolutely delicious with Goats Cheese with Truffle and the Pork Belly being our favourites - the flavours were insane! They also had a great wine list of which we tried the Clos Mont Blanc Chardonnay, La transicion Orange Wine, A Punto Malbec and the Esteban Martin Monastrell. The Orange Wine and the Red Monastrell were our favourites, so much so we bought a bottle of the Monastrell to take home. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Cirencester. We would definitely return!

Beautiful space and friendly service but sadly, the food just wasn’t for us. We ordered a variety of dishes: anchovies on roasted peppers, blue cheese with figs and almonds, fried aubergines, battered fish, and patatas bravas and found most items too experimental or overpowering in flavor. It might work for people with a more adventurous or acquired taste, but definitely not a safe pick if you’re looking for comfort or familiarity.

REALLY good tapas in a dog friendly environment. I've wanted to try La Bobina for a while, and we were not disappointed, well worth the visit. We probably ordered too many dishes, I got carried away. Thanks to Fraser for looking after us, & helping with cheese choices.

This was hands down the best dinner we’ve had in the Cotswolds for a long time. Straight away the service was excellent; hosts were warm & friendly. We had booked a table indoors but they let us move our booking outside with no issues. Food was OUTSTANDING! It’s our favourite cuisine and this is definitely in the top two Spanish restaurants we’ve tried in the UK. Could have eaten the whole menu. Solid drinks list as well. Already looking for a reason to go back!

We went here last night for the first time, and were delighted with everything. The warm welcome and atmosphere made us feel comfortable and at home. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and was working really hard keeping all her tables happy. The food was delicious and beats a lot of tapas places in Spain. Really reasonable prices as well, especially when compared to the quality of the food. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks so much for such a joyous evening and experience.

Went here the other night and all I can say is that it was nothing short of impeccable! We said that a member of our group was gluten free and they had a wonderfully varied menu available that catered to every taste from every section. We were told when we got given the menu that we can ask any questions to make us feel comfortable and confident in our food choices without feeling like a burden to any members of staff. Going forward the wait staff were nothing short of amazing with every attention of detail being incredible. All members of staff seemed happy and stress free too, a sign of a well oiled ship. As a waitress myself I was blown away! That is saying nothing about the food which it felt like every bite of every dish was so perfectly crafted we couldn't help but ask for more. The fact that the dishes came out at varied times made the meal an experience, rather than a rush and you could truly savour each dish. The wine was stunning and well thought out and the Vibes and atmosphere from when you walked in the door was unlike anything I have experienced and all for a reasonable price point. WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK. Thank you to all of the team.

A great Tuesday lunchtime visit. Plenty of space to sit down inside and out, plus it is dog friendly! The drinks menu was good but we were driving so we just looked, it was certainly an inviting list. The menu was as you might expect, a lot of classic dishes there. Something for everyone and prepared in the kitchen which is visible from a large portion of the dining room. We picked five dishes between the two of us, and none disappointed. Our server was able to make recommendations and I'm definitely going back to try more from the menu. There is a daily specials board and if the pork loin or the fillet steak is on offer again I will certainly try them as the price point for these items (£16 and £18 respectively) was very tempting in itself. Overall a very good spot to visit on Cirencester and while central, it is hidden delightfully in a little courtyard, so even when it is busy, it doesn't feel like it. Our server was friendly and attentive, our total bill just topped £50 for the two of us including soft drinks. With wine, expect to add another £15pp perhaps? Well worth it for the experience.

Just had a lovely lunch today. Interesting and authentic menu to choose from. We had Anchovies, Oysters, Aubergine fritas with honey, Truffle and ham croquettes, Chicarrones. Followed by Affogato and Torta Santiago, sherries, wine and coffee. Our main server was India, who was a delight and the rest if the staff were all incredible helpful and attentive too, great service. We left very full and very happy. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

In the heart of Cirencester, along Black Jack Street, you'll find a charming shopping parade with local businesses like Keiths coffee shop and Octavias bookshop. Among these is Sam & Jak, a recently opened restaurant and wine bar named after its owners, Sam Edwards and Jak Doggett. The duo has already made a name for themselves in The Cotswolds with their establishment, The Upton Firehouse in Burford.
Had a great lunch. All the food was delicious and packed full of flavor. The restaurant was very busy but service was friendly and efficient. Not cheap but for the quality I certainly wouldn't complain and hope to return soon.

We had a wonderful lunch today celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food was delicious, imaginative and nicely presented. The staff were attentive and friendly, we would definitely recommend.

This individual restaurant is just by the crossroads in the centre of Cirencester. We popped in on a Tuesday lunchtime without booking and we were able to get a table upstairs. But if you are keen to go, I'd recommend booking. We'd passed this place many times before and read the menu in the window, and always thought it sounded interesting. Well we weren't disappointed! The menu is relatively small but with sufficient variations to appeal to most people. You could choose a variety of small plates or something more substantial. We started by sharing some queen olives and halloumi with sliced honey, both were brilliant. Our mains were smoked haddock risotto and mussels with beans and greens, again, superb. Wines were good and sensibly priced and service was excellent and very friendly. The vibe is somewhere between tapas bar and independent restaurant. Not cheap, but definitely worth it We thought it was lovely and will definitely return.

I liked it. I think maybe it is a bit expensive for what it is but i suppose it is in central Cirencester. The breakfast was good. The staff were very good.
Robert B — Google review
Not sure why have never been here. Recommended by a friend so tried lunch. Welcoming friendly staff, bustling busy atmosphere and quite noisy at times. Bearing in mind there is always someone who is oblivious to all around. I liked it and the dishes are quite eclectic so interesting choices. The portion size is very small for price paid so although I wanted a light lunch, it certainly was but heavy on price. One of us ordered a bowl of chips to share. They came lukewarm and quite small bowl. . I guess they have to make money in these trying times. I would try again for dinner. They do put a lot of effort into presentation and I don’t mind paying anything if it’s value for money. Don’t want to be critical but that’s how it was for me.

I honestly stopped here cause it started raining outside and I did not regret at all! I went in and the atmosphere is just so cozy. Staff is very friendly and polite.

We dined here and had a wonderful meal and service from attentive staff. Meat and veggie options very tasty and a great portion. So much so we booked them as private caterers for our Cotswold wedding. They provided wonderful food which left our guests wanting more, great organisation, made it easy for us and food was amazing! We are considering another wedding party just for the food. Highly recommend for service, food quality and flavour.
Gerard C — Google review
My wife and I came for breakfast recently and this looked to be the ideal spot. Well laid out, nice service, happy days. When looking at the menus, I was a bit shocked by the price as it was definitely on the more expensive side but the lack of information regarding what my money gets me annoyed me more. 'Full English' with absolutely no description is a bit annoying but still, how bad can it be. My food came with no beans (a staple on a full English and having eaten them everywhere, never have I not had them) and although it sounds silly, I wouldn't have got it (definitely not at that price). The food was overcooked, and the portion was pitiful. There was also a hair mixed in so I left the rest of it and called it a day. They did offer to remove our drinks from the bill which was courteous, but I didn't have a hair in my tea, it was the cheaper option for them so again, a sour token at best. Service was pleasant enough and the atmosphere was okay but we won't be coming back in a hurry.

Thai restaurant
Thai Emerald is a restaurant in Gloucestershire that offers classic Thai cuisine. The establishment is adorned with traditional teak pictures and furniture, creating an authentic ambiance. They stay true to their roots by serving up delicious Asian flavors across their four locations. Their extensive menu may seem overwhelming, but each dish is categorized by spice level and accompanied by English descriptions for easy selection. If you're unsure about what to order, the knowledgeable staff are more than willing to provide recommendations.
Wonderful service, warm and welcoming as you can get. Food was great. The waitress took my our challenge of NOT ordering a panang Curry and recommended some other family favourites. So was really cool. The restaurant is full of hidden little sculptures and art work.
Keith — Google review
The food was pretty good. The place is cute and feels very Thai. We had Thai veg curry, soup, rice and vegetables. Everything was really nice and the portions are pretty large. Loved their cups with handles shaped like an elephant’s trunk. The service was efficient but the staff seemed very unfriendly. It was as if they wanted us to order more drinks or more food.
Anju P — Google review
I don't normally use the word 'wow' in my reviews, but.. WOW! My wife and were amazed by our recent visit to the Thai Emerald. Top class authentic Thai cuisine expertly crafted by a highly skilled kitchen team, and served by friendly attentive staff. We both agreed the food was the best we've had in any restaurant in a long time.. Fresh, vibrant and full of flavour. Simply brilliant. I highly recommend to all.
Mark C — Google review
We enjoyed everything! Very clear vegan sections on the menu, with plenty of great options. A beautiful interior, which transports you to Thailand. Very attentive service. Everything we ate was delicious, especially the Thai soup starter and massaman curry.
Sasha P — Google review
Really stunning interior design which continues throughout both floors of the restaurant and even into the loos. The food was presented beautifully and was full of flavour. There is a wide selection of choices on the menu, even for someone who doesn't like spice I found it hard to narrow down what I wanted from the many options available. The service was super quick, starters were out within 5-10 mins and mains soon after. Drinks order was taken just as promptly. All the staff were friendly and polite, greeting us with smiles. All in all a lovely restaurant that should be in the top 10 in Cirencester!

What an amazing place. The decor is stunning and the food is excellent. It centrally located so it is perfect for a night out out!!! I was with my partner who is veggie and there was a good selection which tastes great. For the meat eaters out there the selection was amazing. They have a large menu so be prepared to spend ages choosing your dishes 🤣 For 2 it was £60 and that included starter, main and drinks. They catered for small groups like our (4) and we saw bigger groups too. It still had an intimate feel and I can't imagine roudy tables being tolerated for too long!! Would definitely recommend

Tierra and Mar is a charming, blue-hued restaurant that offers a unique take on Spanish cuisine. Founded by the husband-and-wife team of Brett and Silvia, it pays homage to their roots with elevated European and Spanish-style tapas dishes. The cozy eatery has garnered impressive reviews for its delicious food, friendly staff, and beautiful setting.
Excellent tapas with plenty of variety. Take a group and order plenty of half portions. Everything was absolutely delicious but the baked stone trout and braised lamb rump were so good we ordered seconds. Then to finish it off, churros with a cup of decedent chocolate and a surprise petite four with the best marshmallow I’ve ever had. Would definitely return!

Excellent food! Really recommend the lamb! Such a lovely surprise. The service was also second to none. Everything came out at the perfect time, and the staff were so enthusiastic and helpful. One thing to work on - the interior. The building has a lot of potential and it could be stunning, bur at the moment it’s a bit tired and very…blue!

Holiday group dinner spent here in one of our meals while in Cirencester as reviews online were very impressive. We had a 5-course tapas sharing set menu. Starters were delicious especially the Iberian platter and the goat’s cheese mousse. The paella was not how we expected it to be. Not much options that day. At the time of writing they got cod, lamb and veggies only. We were expecting a proper seafood paella not only with fish alone. The lamb paella was not too great. The cod paella was so-so. The veggie one was a bit bland. The rice was al dente which was impressive. Churros was also below par. Too skinny. The chocolate dip was great though.
Trinakatz G — Google review
Brilliant! Loved everything about Tierra and Mar. Staff were genuinely friendly and cared about what they were serving. The tapas were delicious. Felt like a fusion of tapas plus - delightful. The croquettas were the nicest we've ever had - melt in the mouth. Tuna carpaccio was yummy. All gorgeous. Would go back tomorrow!

Just wow! Outstanding food and exceptional service from start to finish. Thank you so much for making my wife's birthday so special with beautiful food and drinks.
Claire L — Google review
This is a real gem! Food is absolutely delicious, gorgeously presented and delivered by friendly staff. The entrée includes a 4 times world winner olive oil with a strong herbal flavour, which on its own would be a good enough reason to visit. Chefs mix flavours in a surprising way, but by no means strange or over the top. You will be genuinely pleasantly surprised with every dish - I can especially recommend boneless spicy chicken wings, lamb and seafood. If you opt in for a set menu, make sure you add a few tapas as well to fully appreciate what's on offer. There is a nice selection of wines and liquors, and should you enjoy cider, there is a Basque semi-dry one you cannot miss. There is only one thing this restaurant lacks: two Michelin stars! Even if you're half an hour away, the trip here will be worth it without a doubt.
Jakub K — Google review
We got the weekday 3 course set menu and really enjoyed it! The flavours were good and the service was attentive. I enjoyed the blackberry and lime dessert and Patatas Bravas side especially
Mhairi G — Google review
It was a brilliant evening and the food was very good and very friendly service the only downside in our opinion was that the portion size had could be a big better or more especially when you choose a sharer one. The difference between single and sharer wasn't very big...but overall very good food.

Nice town centre pub, great food at reasonable prices for a town centre pub, one of my usual drinking places years ago, pop in more for food these days, still run by Mandy , who remembered me even though rarely in the pub for last 15 years, Bar staff are great, mainly been served by Megan and Sian , both are diamonds and friendly with it, even if it’s busy and they are rushed off their feet, maybe been served by 2 others once or twice and again are friendly , making up a great team, Some days / times it can be quiet , but that’s not necessarily a bad thing , Would readily recommend Only downside Stella no longer served, but many pubs don’t either So I just switch to cider Sometimes when busy there can be a wait, again that is a good sign, that your food is done fresh and not being re heated or worse microwaved to death Been to some places akin to fast food outlet , food out within 10 mins , and taste that matches the quickness / red hot/ bland and dry usually ! I’d rather wait for freshly cooked food 😁

After a visit to the Corinium Museum and walk around town we stopped here for lunch. There are many places to pick from in Cirencester and we more or less just tossed the proverbial coin - not disappointed. Nice atmosphere, quick service and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. I had the Hunter Chicken and my wife had the Potato and Leek Soup. We were both very satisfied so you can’t ask for more than that after a morning of wandering.

The food at Burrito Mama is excellent and the menu is simple yet well-executed. The flavors are spot-on and not overly complicated. They offer a great selection of beers, although it would be nice if they could also recommend some wines. Located in Cirencester, this independent restaurant is highly recommended. The corn on the cob with feta is particularly delicious, and their chicken burrito and loaded nachos are equally satisfying.
Visited here for dinner. Made an on the day booking and whilst they were fully booked they accommodated us by sitting us at the bar which was more than comfortable and big enough. We ordered the spicy Mango Margaritas after being recommended them by the Waitress and wow - they were absolutely delicious and refreshing with the perfect flavours of spice and sweetness. For food - we ordered the loaded beef nachos, beef brisket tacos and Chorizo quesadillas and they didn't not disappoint! Everything looked and tasted amazing! We didn't stop eating until our plates were empty! Would definitely return and recommend to anyone who loves soulful, delicious Mexican food.

Outstanding food and even better coffee (and that's coming from 2 Australians)! The coffee is truly exceptional and the scrambled eggs are just perfect. I am desperate to know what the secret is to their perfect scrambled eggs! We had to come back 2 days in a row it was that good. We had a lovely chat with the area manager who was so welcoming and friendly and gave us some recommendations for the area. Truly a highlight of our visit to The Cotswolds.

A very nice branch of the Cotswold Cafe chain. Mezzanine seating gives a nice airy, elevated view. Music in the background adds to the atmosphere, not so loud that it becomes disruptive. Friendly & fast service. Lovely eggs & roast toms for breakfast. A yoghurt & berry compote from the fridge was tasty but lacked sufficient amount of yoghurt. Coffee was nice but - as is all too often the case in many cafes - not hot enough!

This place is quirky with a lovely smell of freshly baked bread! I have a gluten allergy and there was plenty of choice, I opted for the scrambled eggs on gluten free toast. It was delicious amd very fresh! Was a little pricey though.

What a lovely find. Found after working tbeoughout the night! Great coffee and vegan sandwich, and if you’re try anything try their doughnuts, best I’ve ever had! Picture for reference. Libby and Raf were absolutely lovely and the reason I came as I was going to go the generic ‘national coffee shop. Glad I didn’t and most importantly supporting smaller businesses. Highly recommend!

Typical rather than using common sense they lost a customer. I try and use independents rather than national companies however on this occasion I went to cafe Nero next door. Because they could not alter the menu to suit my particular diet they bumped up the cost for individual items making a basic breakfast with out carbs heading towards £20 rather than substituting items to allow for the changes. Narrow minded. Shame as I do prefer to give independents my money.

The Corinium Hotel & Restaurant is a charming 1500s Cotswold-stone house with free WiFi, a walled garden, and a cosy bar. Located just five minutes walk from the Market Square in Cirencester, it offers characterful rooms with sash windows or exposed beams. The hotel's ample car park makes it convenient for guests to explore the town on foot. Despite its old-world charm, the hotel provides modern comforts such as electric showers and friendly customer service.
Room was immaculately clean. And for an old building it makes the job even harder, but there was not one spot of dust. Excellent air-con system as I can imagine it can get pretty hot, but I slept well and was completly comfortable. Bring a book though as the TV is small... but who needs a TV anyway when you are in such a beautiful location. Service was first class. Friendly helpful service during my stay. Great location its like 5 mins walk to the heart of Cirencester.

Normally ok for a quiet pint but no children allowed after 5 on a Wednesday is pretty weird considering there's a beer garden. I can understand a Friday or Saturday night or if I had a whole army of kids but it was one small well behaved 10yo. In all fairness the guy said we could stay this time but it's the principle. I'd rather go somewhere kid friendly. Torro lounge had no problem accommodating us so we ended up staying for food. Also no cash taken.

A lovely building set in a good location with plenty of free parking. Rooms were clean but old and quirky with noisy floors and paper thin walls. No double glazing so you hear everything passed. Breakfast was ok except for the party of ten all trying to talk and shout over each other making it impossible to hear each other in the same restaurant. The restaurant was a barn style with high ceilings and oak beams with wooden floors. Would I stay there again 🤔 ?? Probably on the top floor with a bigger bed 🛌.

We held our wedding reception for some 20 guests at the Corinium Hotel last month when they made the restaurant available to us for refreshments & luncheon based on their Classic 3 course menu. This followed close liason & planning in conjunction with Alex, Manager there. Before settling on this venue we sampled numerous establishments in the area. We were though taken by the Corinium's location, food & service, accommodation,, parking & overall general ambience. Importantly also the positive response & helpfulness received from Day 1. Quite simply on the big day the team there delivered on all fronts & made it a special occasion which along with our earlier ceremony at Stroud Registry Office will live long in our memory. Thank you so much. Look forward to seeing you again soon Tony [ & Paula ] Photos courtesy of camillacreativephotography.com

The Hop Kettle in Cirencester is a lively spot offering live music, beer flights, and a rotation of guest chefs serving up tasty small plates. The venue features its own selection of home brews that complement the food. The accommodating staff and great atmosphere make it a must-visit in Cirencester. With a wide selection of cask and keg beers, it's recommended to try the beer flights to sample them all.
Beer is great. Relaxed place for a craft beer or two. Food isn’t on every night and I have not sampled enough of it to comment, but there is no N/A option here If you get there on a Wednesday, Amy does Stockers street food and it’s and absolute delight

A really nice micro brewery with a great selection of beers/ales. We had the pilsner and their own version of a Guinness which were both lovely. Ended up staying for the street food, really good tasty burgers from BBQ Street Box. The chef was especially helpful with food intolerances and made sure everything was good for us. Overall, really friendly and helpful staff, great beers and great food. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area. Thanks 😀

Nice comfy , open plan micro / brewery tap room. Always pleasant service and cheerful, reasonable prices considering the town. GF beers are well marked out, vegan ones are not, asked the staff who were helpful and could only find 2 that were isinglass free - sure they have more and would be nice to mark these in the (lovely) UnTapped board -. Street food Mexican on Saturday looked amazing , but again just 1 item marked vegan (side tots) - shame. But aside from that like this place and it's cool friendly vibe.

The best tap room in town. Great vibe, excellent atmosphere, good music and crowd. They have a wide range of tasty beers, lovely Gin made on site and an interesting street food menu that sadly we didn't get to try (kitchen shuts 8pm). There is seating indoors and outside in the courtyard. Brilliant place, highly recommended.

Lovely. This place is a hidden gem! We absolutely adored our experiences here. From the bubbly and well informed waitresses to the amazing food. It's a bit higher in your price bracket but for two rosette its understandable and you are paying for such great quality. I had the place and it was divine. The cheese board was also a delight as there were a mixture of local and Cotswold based cheeses which were deeply flavoursome. I would highly recommend this place!

A beautiful little restaurant in a gorgeous hidden courtyard. It has exchanged ownership in April 2015 so I have no idea what it was like prior to the new ownership. The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. Most importantly the food was exceptional. A fairly limited menu of the highest of quality options. Perfect. Jesse's definitely helped to make our weekend away from London in Cirencester that much more memorable.

Best burger place I have ever been to. The 2 guys that own it are amazing guys! Such a nice atmosphere inside. Amazing chef cooking up delicious burgers and great beer. Pro: Great food. Con: Took 2 hrs to get our food. Con: It was freezing inside with AC since we spent hrs in total to get food Pro: They had blankets when I asked. Con: This delay caused us to take the food home instead as we lost our appetite Con: we missed our evening plans due to this, and forgot about the overstayed car parking.. Pro: I looked for the manager who took the correct steps to try to resolve their mistakes, and had a word with their staff who made the mistake. Things offered wasn't suitable but had some discount on the food. Con: Since the service was bad, I removed this. Con: We were actually sat by the stairs (enterance and till) so they walked past many times but never checked on the fact we haven't ate anything for 2hrs. Pro: desserts was nice. Con: It was a first special occasion so it was a shame it went like that for us, and my partner having to stress about something that was the restaurants control/ out of his control, and I handled the situation. Reservation was 7pm, we arrived 6:50pm. Left there 9:30-10pm.

Excellent service and delicious food. We were served quickly, the staff were polite and friendly. Special thanks to our waiter, Constantin, for his attentiveness and professionalism. The wine recommendation was spot on and perfectly matched our dishes. The only minor drawback was the noise level due to closely placed tables. Overall, a pleasant dining experience — we’ll be happy to return.

We had an absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch on 9th November. We arranged this as a birthday lunch for our mother who is 82. We have been to Cote Cirencester on a number of occasions in the past and repeatedly look to come back because of how wonderful the experience is each time – and last Sunday was no different. The atmosphere is perfect for families, young and old. We have found it increasingly difficult to find restaurants which don’t insist on blaring out music or where the sound is echoey and background noise very clattery which makes hearing hard and conversation difficult. The ambience and environment created in Cote Cirencester is a perfect atmosphere. The food is sensational. Our starters and mains were all delicious. The roast chickens were superb and the description from our waiter that they were so fresh was evident in the cooking and in the tasting. The free flow fries were an outstanding menu option. We were also impressed with the options available for gluten and dairy free dietary requirements and the waiter was very helpful in explaining and facilitating this from the menu. All in all another excellent experience and above all the whole lunch was made memorable by our superb waiter Constantin. He was always friendly, warm and helpful. Throughout he brought humour and a genuine sense of care and sincere attentiveness which projected a strong desire for us all at our table to have a good time without this seeming forced or false – it was natural and made us all feel relaxed and very welcome. Constantin combines a well judged sense of humour with very strong customer service orientation and he helped make the experience all the more enjoyable. Special thanks to him. We will certainly be back again for another repeat visit.

Scallops to start, Cote de Boeuf for mains and Paris-Brest and macarons to finish. All washed down with a lovely Picpoul. Perfect evening. Constantin looked after us exceptionally well, as usual. Top marks all round!
Alison W — Google review
We came across Cote as a result of walking around Cirencester lanes looking for a place to have an evening meal. Having been to a Cote previously we were pleased to find one in Cirencester. Having had a warm welcome we were attended by Constantin. He was brilliant. He talked us through the menu in terms of what we had chosen and he was also able to comment on the menu items that he had sampled himself. During the meal he checked on us to make sure that all was to our liking. This wasn't done in an intrusive way but merely to check if all was ok. The unlimited free fries with certain selections of the meal were a welcome bonus. I'd certainly visit again.

I came into cote the other day and had a wonderful experience as well as meal. Amazing friendly service! The main front of house lady was incredible! As were our after dinner cocktails. The Cirencester Beefeater, a steak house located in the UK, is known for its warm welcome and premier accommodations. Many visitors choose to stay at the adjacent Premier Inn and enjoy their meals at this establishment. The quality of food can be inconsistent, but overall it has been considered one of the best dining experiences in the country. What sets this place apart is not just the delicious dishes, but also the attentive and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
Christmas dinner, on Christmas day, at the Beefeater was a pleasant surprise. First of all was the excellent service. At no point did we have to ask for anything. As my drink was nearly empty a waitress asked if I wanted another. All meals for 4 were delivered to the table within seconds of each other. Whoever ran the service and the staff must be congratulated. I've eaten in far more expensive places and the service was nowhere near as good. Starters were fine but little garnish next time please The main was perfect as was the desert. Good coffee as well. The best thing though was the service, followed by the food then the atmosphere. Very well done.and no shopping or washing up. Well worth the money.

We had an absolutely lovely meal at the Beefeater today. The manager and all the staff were very friendly and made us feel so welcome. We tried the double crispy chicken wings with blue cheese sauce for starters and build your own own burger, which had plenty of options to keep us happy, for mains which was all cooked just as it should be and tasted delicious.

We had 3 days worth of breakfast & dinner here last week as a meal deal, with our premier inn stay, breakfast & 2 course dinner with a drink included, you can add the 3rd course for an extra £2, also there is a supplement for some of the main courses & drinks, which we didn't do. They were slightly understaffed for the time of year,(Easter holidays), which made a bit of a wait to be seated, & for your order to be taken, but it wasn't a major problem, probably more for them than us. The food was really well cooked every meal, they even took my steak back to do it another 3 minutes for me, & refreshed the whole meal, chicken goujons, mushrooms on bruschetta, & crispy potatoes dippers with cheese & spring onion were all excellent starters, fish & chips, steak & ale pie, sirloin, & the lasagne with a salad were all excellent as well, the lasagne was a lot bigger portion than expected, we did not need the side order of chips & onion rings as well, a kit kat sundae, & a churros sundae went down well also one evening. Breakfast was good, 2 mornings it was self serve , for hot food as it was so busy , the weds was back to being cooked to order as it was less busy. If you are staying at least a couple of days, I would definitely recommend doing the meal deal, even if you pay for an extra drink.

Wow what a welcoming place We stay in so many premier inns around the UK and always eat at the adjoining eateries with this being a Beefeater which we find hit and miss. We continually stay at this Premier Inn and eat at this Beefeater and hands down is the best we have eaten in with the UK, not just for the food but for how attentive and welcoming the staff are here, nothing is any trouble and such professional mannerism. On a plus note, what a great atmosphere with the Christmas decorations that Kirsty had executed. So underestimated and great warm feel when here. Totally recommend this place for food, atmosphere and importantly of all, the service. 11 out of 10

Ordered the grilled prawn burger. Food arrived and the surf and turf burger arrived. Said to the wait staff who apologised, saying something about, she thought I said burger and would get me the correct meal. The second meal arrived after some of the party had practically finished their meal. This was the wrong meal again, this time chargrilled king prawns in garlic butter. I decided against saying anything and just eating this meal, as by this point I was past the point of being hungry. The wait staff was very apologetic for getting the meal wrong initially and offered a free dessert. I would have given 4 stars based on how nice the member of staff was. However, another of our party then found some plastic in their meal. And at the end of the meal I used the toilets and the ledge at the top of the tiles, under the hand dryer was disgusting with wet mould and clearly wasn't regularly cleaned, there was also similar, though not as bad round the taps. In general, without the mistakes, food was only mediocre anyway, but what I would expect from a Beefeater chain.

I would definitely recommend booking in advance as every table was taken. He sat us at a table by the fireplace which was perfect. Small menu with fantastic food. I had the feather of beef which was divine and my partner had the pie which was also delicious. We had a side of parsnips with blue cheese and truffle honey, which was incredible. Super cosy atmosphere with very friendly staff! Food was that good that we are contemplating driving 117 miles to go back next weekend.

Beautiful pub lunch and wander around the village this weekend! Really great value for portions - we had enough to take home for sandwiches the next day. Beef perfectly cooked, pork tender and delicious, veg also beautifully cooked. Wonderful staff as well, and just a very lovely and warm & welcoming location. Wish I’d had room for sticky toffee pudding.

Went for dinner with a group of 6. The scotch egg starter was the pick of my dishes. Would 100% have again. The schnitzel was huge - definitely value for money on the size. Unfortunately also slightly dry and definitely needed a sauce to make it go down easier. Beer was great, and the vibe and service also very good. If not for the schnitzel not being up to the mark would be a 5 star meal.

Spectacular stay, sublime service! I'd give it six stars if I could! We arrived a little early and so enjoyed drinks in the garden, a lovely setting. Everyone was so friendly and it was like being greeted by old friends! As we checked in, the team kindly gave us an upgraded room, which was very generous. The room was so cosy! The bed is huge and very comfortable. The shower was a walk-in waterfall, and it was one of the nicest hotel showers I've had the pleasure of using. Plenty of choice and flexibility at breakfast, the cinnamon buns were to die for! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we'll be back without hesitation!

It's a great little pub part of pig hotels, the pig is just up the road from the pub. Food was very good and the inner part of the steak pie the best l tried ever. Service excellent and a selection of ales, and all the usual drinks. Quaint setting , worth the visit,

Food tasted good but very small portions for the price. For example, the steak and ale pie only comes with kale. Very limited menu as well. Quite disappointed given the good rating.

Stop searching, you've found it! The pub inside and outside is stunning ✅ Service is 10/10 ✅ Food is delicious ✅✅ I will say that it is a little pricey but given the above, it deserves to be. I didn't stay here but a couple in the bar said the rooms were amazing.

Cafe Mosaic is a charming spot in Cirencester that offers excellent food and a lovely ambiance. Visitors can enjoy delicious breakfast options, coffee, cake, and even lunch. The cafe provides friendly and efficient service with a cozy atmosphere for guests to relax and enjoy their meals. The menu offers a variety of tasty dishes such as Spanish Chicken/Chorizo Noodle Soup, cheese & ham toasties, oven-baked potatoes with fillings, and tasty salads.
We ate twice here in a few days - once for coffee and cake and once for breakfast. Very friendly and welcoming staff, delicious food and drink served in a timely manner and a lovely cafe all round. This is our favourite cafe in Cirencester and it never disappoints.

Tucked slightly out of the way from the high street is this lovely little spot. I took my mum here for a birthday lunch after she was drawn to the Ploughman's on the menu! We sat outside in the sun at an appropriately mosiac patterned table and despite the clear popularity of the place, were served quickly by two very friendly waitresses. Drinks were great, especially my hot chocolate and the food itself was reasonably priced given the location and had more than adequate portion sizes. There was also a selection of fresh cakes and pastries but we did not indulge in these so I can't comment - though they did look good! The *only* thing was that some square, brown tables were deceptively placed nearby which lulled both ourselves and a myriad of others into thinking they were part of the cafe. They weren't as explained by the waitresses each time so signage would definitely be of benefit to prevent this. Overall however, my mum was extremely happy with her meal, as was I and I would definitely recommend this place as a peaceful, pleasent place to sit and enjoy some lunch. Would more than happily return

Just off the high street next to a sheep statue lies Cafe Mosaic. We found a seat inside but they have quite a plentiful area outside to dine Alfresco. Service was very bubbly and all the staff wore smiles. The food was lovely, 2 of us has a sausage roll with a very colourful salad and our partners had a mushroom quiche and a stilton and walnut quiche. All filled the spot and we left happy. It was a really nice place for a light lunch with friends. Will definitely be going again the next time we are in Cirencester.

The Thames Head Inn is a charming rustic inn located near the claimed source of the Thames. It offers comfortable guestrooms and a restaurant that serves delicious, thoughtfully prepared food with good portion sizes and a brilliant twist on classic dishes. The staff are welcoming and provide friendly service, creating a nice atmosphere for guests. The campsite has hard standing pitches with grass sections between them, and while there's only one combined toilet/shower facility at the moment, improvements are expected in the future.
Great pub with delicious food. Generous portion sizes. We stayed here last August for a night and it is in such a great location. Right next to the source of the Thames which is a short walk away. Lovely walks hereby too to work up your appetite for a tasty dinner. Great sized room with bathroom and a very comfortable bed!

Beautiful location. Staff very friendly. Manager excellent. Ordered the gammon, I've had thicker bacon very disappointed. Home made coleslaw was superb. Chips were lovely. Desert banofofi pie. WOW bloody lovely very well presented. Give the gammon a miss but definitely we eat there again (I'll try the steak next time)

I had a fantastic visit to the Thames Head. The food and drinks were genuinely excellent, with the club sandwich standing out as a real highlight. It was fresh, generous and full of flavour. I took a seat on one of the benches outside and enjoyed the sunshine, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Service was impressively quick without feeling rushed and every member of staff I interacted with was warm, friendly and attentive. The whole atmosphere was relaxed yet well run. Whether you are stopping by for a casual lunch or just a drink in the sun, I would highly recommend the Thames Head. I will definitely be returning

Food is a basic pub grub menu, but the quality is excellent. We had two different meals. One was bangers and mash consisting of three sausages on a pile of mashed potato with onion gravy. The second was a steak, kidney, and ale pie with vegetables. Both were large portions, cooked properly, and only costing £33 for the two, a real bargain.

Amazing one night stay here on a trip to the airport. The staff were incredibly friendly and the room was clean and comfortable, albeit a little warm in the August heat. Breakfast was huge and freshly cooked to order, really set me up for the day. Great little find in a lush location.

We visited The Thames Head Inn on Sunday 16 August 2025. The food was excellent although on the big side. Would have got 5* but there were no non-smoking tables outside and everyone had an ashtray; pity the side chairs and tables were empty. I hope the owner will rethink their smoking policy as the manager thought the restaurant can’t stop people smoking not sure she was right!!!

We returned to this pub earlier today for a Sunday lunch with family, purely due to its halfway location – certainly not for the food, which we remembered as average at best. What we didn’t expect was a meal so poor it made a Toby Carvery at 9am sound appealing. • On arrival, we were greeted with zero warmth and immediate confusion over the booking (apparently made twice under the same name). • Instead of simply asking how many were in our party, we were met with passive-aggressive bafflement. • Despite being half empty, we were seated at a cold, dark corner table we had disliked before. • No music. No buzz. Just the ambient sound of cutlery and awkward silence – imagine a waiting room with wine glasses. • The pub felt more like a retirement home lounge than a countryside spot for Sunday dining. • Staff were consistently cold, blunt, and at times borderline rude. • We were told there was no drinks menu – just “soft drinks and a tap.” • Sunday roast was available, yet no menu was provided. Every question we asked – from gravy on the side to coleslaw – was met with eye-rolls or curt “no”s. • The woman taking our order spoke to us as if we were children inconveniencing her, while another waiter openly gave attitude and avoided our table. The Food This deserves its own section. • Beef: Wafer-thin, tasteless, and served in a portion barely fit for a canapé – certainly not the 200g you’d expect from a proper Sunday roast. Mine was supposed to be well done, but it looked identical to the medium rare plate next to me. I had to smother it in salt just to get through a bite or two. • Vegetables: A shared plate for four with roughly four broccoli stems, a couple of carrot chunks (undercooked and flavourless), and some swede that tasted raw and had zero seasoning or glaze. Not even the faintest whiff of roast dinner came from the kitchen – you could get more aroma from a microwave meal. • Gravy: Watery, bland, and offered without any effort to elevate the dish. • Yorkshire pudding: An insult. It resembled frozen cardboard and had the bounce of a car sponge. • Several of us couldn’t finish our meals – I left 75% of mine untouched. We were all still hungry after paying nearly £100. We had to go eat elsewhere just to salvage the day. When we raised concerns, we were met with stony silence. No apology. No offer to rectify. One waiter literally ran off mid-conversation. Staff openly avoided us, clearly talking about us in hushed tones behind the pillar. When we finally flagged someone down for the bill, it was dropped on the table without a word – every item still charged in full. We left shocked at how poor both the food and service were. This place needs a serious reset – from the kitchen to the front-of-house team. The only thing local about this pub was the attitude: tired, indifferent, and stuck in a rut. We won’t be back. We won’t recommend it. And unless they overhaul everything, it’s only a matter of time before others catch on too.

The pub has been done up well and still looks like a pub. It was very quiet when we went but it's a small place (albeit with lots of outdoor seating) and would be a cosy spot at busier times. The beer was good (Butcombe) and the pie was a proper one - not the prettiest pie you'll ever see but who cares if the pie is good? And it is.

Lovely cosy transitional pub with a good selection of beers and wines. Staff were excellent and food was fantastic too. Eat there twice over the weekend, on the Friday evening, burger was excellent and again on Sunday for a roast which was also very nice. Just a shame it closes early on a Sunday and we would have stayed and settled in for an evening session.

Nice, bustling atmosphere and excellent service (Anna). Food came quickly. As with all pubs now, the food is pricey - £23 for a (not huge) roast, with everything in one pile in the middle of the plate. Reasonably tasty beef, but not pink and a bit fatty. Decent Yorkshire puds. We only had a main course (including one child portion) and one soft drink each and the bill (including 12.5% optional service) was almost £100 for the four of us.

Lovely family Sunday lunch and very dog friendly. Service was friendly and prompt. Portions were sensible and not ridiculously large. We were in a slightly dingy side room with no atmosphere but they had heaters on to make it cosy. They lose a star because we had a 12.45 booking and were rushed to finish so we didn’t really get time for a pudding as they wanted the table back for 2.15pm which is pretty swift IMHO! Unfortunately they did not bring this to our attention until we had lingered on our main course. Thankfully we didn’t order a starter or we would have been really pushed! We were glad to get the LME homeowner discounts.

Rural Countryside inn with a reputation for good food and beer. I was staying at a Travelodge and The Greyhound was on a list of recommendations to eat. I asked where is fairly local the does good BEER and food, and was sent here. I enjoyed a Fillet Steak with Mushroom and Stilton Port Sauce off the specials board. I was nicely presented and came with a separate dish of new potatoes and perfectly cooked unseasoned vegetables.

Came here on a rare midweek day off.. was not disappointed. Vast selection on tap, a good choice of 0% drinks too. Sat in the garden and had Steak Frites, Henry Burger and Loaded Fries.. between two, although one of us is heavily pregnant. Burger was delicious, an actual homemade burger cooked perfectly with a delicious IPA chutney. Steak, although a little small, was cooked with a delicious garlic & herb butter. Loaded pulled pork dirty fries.. if you try nothing else on the menu, make sure you order these, the portion size is healthy, comfortably for two, the cheese and pulled pork was throughout the entire setup, not just on top (like with most places). They had the perfect balance of salty, sweet and spicy. Reasonably priced, lovely setting, very dog friendly. Will absolutely be returning, if only to grab some dirty fries and maybe the nachos as they looked incredible too!! Didn’t take any photos because we were glutenous little pigs and forgot.. take my word, superb throughout.

We booked this pub for a Sunday lunch having never visited before and only having moved to the area fairly recently. It was an absolute winner, the Sunday roast was brilliant, lovely ingredients, great generous portions, every part of the roast was cooked well and roasted properly, meaning it was all packed full of flavour. The desserts were also excellent for all of the same reasons, and the whole lunch offered great value and quality for money. A good range of drinks though I didn't get to try many options over one lunch, sadly. The pub has a large outdoor space which looks perfect for drinks in the summer, however now that summer has passed I can't wait to go back and order a meal and drinks inside The Greyhound, its traditional cosy country pub feel with wood and stone interiors are perfect for crisp autumn days and as the winter nights draw in! Hopefully the open fires will be lit when I next visit, which will be very soon.

I can't comment on the rooms as I didn't stay here , we stopped by for a drink, we sat in the courtyard space which was nice on a hot day . The ambience was laid back but we were there during the day and I can see that it would probably liven up in an evening, the decor of the pub was lovely , and from the front it looks way smaller than it is . The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks on offer , we didn't eat but saw some of the food coming from the kitchen and it all looked really nice . We visited the restaurant quite late in the evening without much idea what to order. Omer, the owner, was incredibly warm and welcoming — he patiently introduced the menu and recommended dishes for us, which turned out to be absolutely delicious. There were 8 of us (6 adults and 2 kids), and even though we’re not very familiar with Indian cuisine, every single dish we tried exceeded our expectations. The flavours were rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying. Hands down, this was the best Indian meal I've ever had. I've put atmosphere as 4 as when we arrived it was very quiet and had no background music. So felt everyone could hear what we were saying. But luckily as the night progressed it filled up and this wasn't an issue. Perhaps if quiet a bit of background music might help. Food was great! Nothing to complain about.

Here on a busy Saturday night (and maybe they are always busy like this or it may have been in jubilant celebration of the England team beating Wales 68:14, although it looks like France will win the 6 Nations, as I write this review). Lots of waiting around for both our table (despite booking) and our food. However, the really pleasant and lovely staff acknowledged there were issues and knocked various items off the bill without any prompting. The food was really nice - we had a king prawn biryani with loads of prawns in it and the lamb patia was hot, spicy, and tasty with large lumps of meat. Chutney tray with the poppadoms was really good. Yes there were issues but we had a lovely meal and enjoyed our evening. When we return (and we shall), we will book for 8pm when the Saturday rush has died down.

Having read the reviews decided to try this restaurant and I am so glad I did. Welcomed on entering ( there are stairs to the establishment). Sat down at our table and was welcomed again and asked for drinks. The popadoms came with pickle try- mango mint chutney, two onion dishes which were delicious. The starters came (chicken tikka, prawn puree) both delicious and tikka came on a metal plate. The main course came chicken tikka korma coconut rice, chicken tikka passanda and Peshawari Nan. Absolutely fantastic and tasty . The server mizn was very attentive. The whole experience was amazing and delicious food . There was music playing in the background. Toilets spotless. Some starters were ok, some not so, the salmon sizzling dish came burnt and overcooked with no salad, just an empty plate to help yourself had to ask for the salad which was brought out in a hot plastic takeaway container 🤦‍♂️. Madras main was quite tasteless, and no heat was very bland. Side dishes were slightly better. Garlic nan was the best 👌 light and airy. Service was pretty poor. They struggled to get the correct drinks. Bottled water on the table but warm. Even when ordered a cold bottle, it still came warm as none in the fridge. What is the point. Won't be rushing back.

Lovely restaurant. Great food, great service & helpful, friendly staff. We visited during our short stay in Cirencester & wanted a quick dine-in service. We arrived about 45 mins before closing, but they were very happy to accommodate us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first time visit to this restaurant during our short stay in the Cotswolds. The food was delicious and superbly prepared and presented. The manager and the service were excellent. We are grateful for the tip (thanks Jasmin 😉). We can highly recommend this location for great Indian cuisine. 5/5 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏

We went to Rajdoot for dinner. As a big curry fan I was excited to see what Rajdoot had to offer and after an incredibly long waiting time (an hour plus), we were finally served. We ordered Chicken makhni, pulao, paneer butter masala, Bhindi masala and garlic naan. The food when I came was exceptionally good, I had the chicken Makhani and the taste was rich and smooth the way I like it. However, the paneer butter masala gravy was quite sweet and the bhindi masala was lacking flavours too. The garlic naan bread was not the best I’ve had as it lacked some of the flavour. The staff were not particularly impressive and left much to be desired. I’ve come to expect but ultimately the meal was a good one and to be recommended provided you have the time to spend waiting to be served..

Extremely poor experience. The staff were rude, racist and dismissive, and the food quality was more than poor. Would not recommend this place at all. Please stay safe

Had dinner with my family this evening. The starters, main meals and desserts were excellent . Food were delicious and we enjoyed it very much. The staff member Audrey was very good with her service and we were taken care of during the dinner. The new Kings Head is a very good place for family dinner. It’s a place for everyone . There’s something for everyone here. I highly recommend the Brassiere at Kings Head for diner. Matt , the General Manager was very good and made our evening an enjoyable one. It was a great evening.

A beautiful surprise — wonderful lunch and atmosphere! We hadn’t planned to stop, but while working nearby on some 360° virtual tour scans, we passed The Kings Head and couldn’t resist stepping inside after seeing its lovely decor and welcoming feel. What was meant to be a quick coffee break turned into a relaxed lunch — and we’re so glad it did. The hotel is absolutely stunning inside, blending historic charm with modern style. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, from the lighting to the furnishings, and it creates a calm, elegant atmosphere. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home even though we’d just walked in unannounced. Lunch was excellent — beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavour. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in both ingredients and presentation. It’s rare to find somewhere that manages to be both sophisticated and comfortable, but The Kings Head does exactly that. We left feeling refreshed and very impressed. Next time we’re in the area for work, this will definitely be our go-to spot for a proper lunch break. Highly recommended — a true gem in Cirencester!

We had a lovely meal here with some friends and family, and everything was spot on from start to finish. The restaurant looks fantastic after the recent refurbishment…fresh, welcoming, and beautifully updated without losing its charm. A special shoutout to Charlotte, who was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Her service really added to the whole experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed, and it’s clear that a lot of care has gone into improving both the look and the overall experience of the place. We’ll definitely be coming back, highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of enjoying a truly delicious Sunday lunch at The Kings Head Brasserie, made even more special by the outstanding service from Audrey. From the moment we arrived, Audrey was warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. What stood out most was how accommodating she was when I kindly requested salmon for my main, even though it wasn’t listed on the Sunday menu. Without hesitation, she made it happen and I’m so glad she did! The salmon was cooked to perfection: tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It turned out to be one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a long time. Every part of the lunch was delightful, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet refined the perfect setting for a leisurely Sunday meal. Audrey’s genuine hospitality and attention to detail truly elevated the whole experience. I can’t recommend The Kings Head Brasserie highly enough, and I’d especially like to thank Audrey for going the extra mile. I’ll definitely be returning and hoping to see that salmon on the menu more often!

Great service ever. We went in for our dinner and boy oh boy. From start to finish. Everything was absolutely exquisite. But one person stood out for us. Audrey was amazing in waiting section. Very attentive to detail on and always serving with both enthusiasm and great sense of humour. Five stars all the way. Keen it up Kings Head.

I wanted to say a big Thank You!! to you Daisy for all the work and effort from you and the team for Claire’s 50th party at the weekend. You made the experience really stress free and helped us put on a great show for everybody. There was so much that you just did and I didn’t have to worry about so a huge thank you for making us feel so welcome in the Kings Head. A spectacular night!! I hope you have many more similar events and make the new Kings Head a real talking point for the town! You’ve got a great venue and a brilliant team.

Waited more than twenty minutes for two cups of coffee. There were more then 8 or 9 staff walking around doing not alot very poor service. It's a great shame because before refurbishment the service was great. The staff look like they don't no what they are doing. Perhaps need more training or better management

I took my daughter here for brunch as we heard that it has since had a refurb when it used to be called MBB. The Kings Head is uniquely placed in the heart of Cirencester and the restaurant is very inviting. We ordered the 10oz Gammon (humongous size!) with Free-range eggs & chunky chips, a French toast with bacon, and a Chicken & Ham Hock with crispy truffled egg. The meal was delicious and everything came out at the right times. The restaurant has a warm and relaxing feel and we were looked after well by Keira and particularly Joe, who was knowledgeable and attentive throughout. Well done and its well deserved.

Highly recommend the Lamb roast to share between 4 people. We were so surprised by the portion, as it was so big! Very nice wine list with many different labels at different price points. Stopped for a cuppa and a snack after walking in local woods. The landlady was so friendly, we will definitely be back for food one day 😁. They also have a campsite and yurts in a beautiful setting, near enough to Gloucester, Cirencester, Malmesbury, and the Cotswolds airport plenty of places to visit and yet so peaceful. Fireplace is beautiful, ask about it's history, bit of a story. Local walks are fab.

I came at 8:15 on a Tuesday and it was all locked up and no lights on apart from upstairs in the owner accommodation. See you next time.

Found this pub by chance, and what a lovely place it is! The place has just come under new ownership and there was not a Sunday lunch on offer, however, there was a limited menu with some fantastic pizzas on offer. The staff were friendly, and apologetic for the lack of food options, but what they did have was amazing. I'd like to update this review when the full menu is on, though to be honest it's a place I'd definitely recommend anyway. 5*! Thank you very much!

The Crown is a charming local pub located in the picturesque village of South Cerney, nestled in the Cotswolds. This traditional hostelry offers a menu of classic pub-style dishes and a variety of real ales. The establishment also features live music, TV sports, and a bustling courtyard garden that can be accessed via Swan Yard. With its historical significance dating back to Charles II's escape from the building in 1651, The Crown exudes character and charm.
Spent a couple of hours here today for lunch, the staff were all very friendly and the whole team were working tirelessly, all doing a bit of everything. Lady (assume was the manager) was running a very efficient service. We were seated up at the back near the garden doors. Food is delicious, could see the chef cutting fresh veg as orders came in. Very reasonably priced for decent portions. Clean and tidy venue. Very impressed.

We were doing the tourist thing in town, when my super-spouse suggested that we find a pub -- not a restaurant, not an eatery, definitely not a fast-food joint. Mike, the neighborhood security guard, recommended The Crown. Good choice. SS (a Bristol native) commented on the authenticity of her steak and ale pie more than once. I went with a more absurd choice, a Southern-fried chicken burger (I'll attach a photo) -- and it was delicious. For adult bevs, we went with a Stowford cider (for her), a Belt Driver IPA (for me), and a Hugo-something Spritzer (my memory fails on that one, but it was tasty). I'd go back!

The week prior to their visit, a request was made via email for a group of 9 adults and 3 children to collect an afternoon tea. A convenient time for payment was arranged, which proved to be quite helpful. The staff were remarkable and offered reassurance right from the beginning. Upon collection, there was an astonishing amount of beautifully packaged parcels containing the food. Every aspect of the food was delightful and greatly enjoyed by everyone, particularly the lemon cheese cake.
This review is for the shop, not the restaurant (we did not eat there). No matter how small it is, it's perfect. You can pick up a number of different 4-person meals every day for just £20. We had the lasagna and tagine and they were delicious. Be there on time or make a reservation, otherwise you will be too late! The shop has fresh bread, croissants, cookies, coffee and a number of (regional) products. Very nice service. They think along and are happy to help you.

Fantastic place to visit if you are staying onsite. A good selection of hot, cold and bottled drinks. Cakes, cookies 🍪 and other snacks are available. There is a small shop which has the essentials but isn't the largest. Pizzas are available to take away with timed slots so if you want them don't forget to order in advance for pick up. The restaurant itself is small so booking is essential, they produce a great menu using local ingredients and produce and is definitely worth a visit.

The Ballihoo never fails to impress us every time we visit the lakes. As always the staff are very friendly and always accommodating. This time we also had pizzas from the outdoor pizza hut, with no surprise it tasted superb. It helps to order and pay online to walk and collect as it doesn't take orders over the counter.
Mrcocky990 — Google review
Lovely place with generous (shaded and sunny) outdoor seating next to a well-appointed little children's play area. There's indoors space too but we didn't really explore that. Prices were on the higher end but we actually thought the food met the quality we'd expect for the price, which is nice because so many of these places tend to take advantage of a captive audience. With that said, don't expect to make this your regular evening meal unless you're feeling flush. Finally, I should note that they couldn't seem to do enough for us. They were really kind and we did appreciate it. We'll probably be back soon to try breakfast :)

My friends and I had an absolutely lovely time here for food, celebrating a hen. The food was stunning, lots of choice - I had the cheeseburger which I highly recommend. Table service is great, the staff are really helpful and attentive. I (think) Sarah was the lovely blonde lady who made our time more special, she organised a celebration plate with brownies and a candle for my friend, it was a complete surprise and we all really appreciated it. The surroundings are gorgeous, the decor is modern with a boho vibe - so pretty. They also have a little shop area inside for essentials such as washing tablets etc. And fridge essentials. The whole area is absolutely stunning, and this restaurant is the cherry on top! Loved it!
Kristy R — Google review
Pretty disappointing. Used the Ballihoo market in the morning of our first day a - £5.50 for small box of tea bags so definitely capitalising on a captive market. Fresh bread more reasonably priced but unfortunately we arrived at 8:30am opening, hung around for 10 or so minutes as we were told the bread was baking but then told it would be another 20 mins so with a toddler and 2 dogs didn’t wait around. Decided to go to the Ballihoo club bar for a drink on Sunday for an hour, arrived at 4pm and told last orders had already been called despite 5pm close. So all in all, wasn’t really the ‘convenience’ it was sold as with the village accommodation.

We had a fabulous 50th birthday evening meal where, between the 10 of us, we sampled everything on the menu (including some fine wines). The chef and serving staff really know their onions. An excellent facility. We’ve since been back for brunch and it’s been another fabulous aspect to a wonderful holiday at Lower Mill Estate in the Cotswolds.

This used to be a great spot for Sunday lunch, but things have taken a turn recently. While the staff and management may appear friendly to your face, there's a noticeable two-faced attitude—though there are a few exceptions. Instead of addressing any issues directly, they seem to use subtle tactics to make customers feel unwelcome, without having the decency to speak honestly. It’s disappointing and not acceptable. They certainly have a talent for spinning stories, though. If you’re looking for a place that greets you with a smile only to turn on you later—regardless of how regularly you visit—this place unfortunately leads the pack.

Edit: Their response says it all, really. Am I going to write an email to an anonymous customer service address, only to receive another standard reply? No. I just won’t go back to Pizza Express Staff not interested. Prefer to spend their time chatting amongst themselves (in earshot). Customers are an inconvenience. Pizza certainly not Express, waited a very long time despite only a few other customers at tables. Chairs had food on them and when I asked if they could be wiped before we sat down, waitress mumbled something along the lines of ‘well this is a restaurant’ as if we should expect to sit on the last people’s dinner. Disappointing to give good money to a business that simply doesn't care, will steer clear in future.

We went Sunday and the food was amazing. This was topped by the exceptional, friendly and accommodating staff. Josh the lad with curly hair in the restaurant was absolutely amazing attending to the table with a lovely engaging pleasant manor and looking after us throughout the meal. He was also very patient when we had to tell him specific allergies. Thanks again Josh you made the meal experience top quality and a real pleasure.

Excellent Place, we booked for breakfast but a visit for a midweek meal, or Sunday lunch will soon be on the cards. I had full English and my wife had scrambled eggs on toast. The best coffee we have had for ages. Great Service and set by a small brook. Lovely outside area too.

Cozy and the ambiance is great. There is a cricket club behind the Inn where you can let your furbaby have a run around. Just dont forget to pick up the mess. We went for Sunday roast and it didnt disappoint.

Some of the best food we have ever had! Highly recommend the chicken burger, hot dog, beef with red wine and mussels (seriously the best mussels I’ve ever had in my life!), thanks to Alexis, Tatiana and hardy for their first class service - they couldn’t do enough for us!

Dog friendly pub in a lovely location. Food was delicious and great facilities. They have a baby room for changing and they had their fires lit keeping the pub warm and cosy.

Great atmosphere and food. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Me and my son ordered the Sunday roast and the burger. Both were excellent. It is recommended to book a table as it's quite full. In our case we didn't and the team were kind enough to allow us to have our lunch at their lounge as the restaurant was fully booked.

The fish and chips were unbelievable and reasonably priced for the size of the portion, which was LARGE! Our waiter was really funny and helpful and gave excellent recommendations. We were at The Pig the night before which was double the price and not as tasty in my opinion. The atmosphere in the Crown was a bit intense when we arrived as there was a wedding on and I had no idea where the actual restaurant was or who the front of house was, but once we got around that issue it was fine. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding was probably up there with one of the best I've had. All in all, I would highly recommend this place. There's also a nice river you can walk to around the back.

Barnsley House is a luxurious hotel and restaurant located in a charming Cotswolds village. The elegant, contemporary rooms offer a refined dining experience, and guests can also enjoy the stylish spa and outdoor pool. The highlight of the property is the stunning Arts and Crafts style garden designed by Rosemary Verey, featuring a potager, laburnum avenue, and Tuscan temple. Visitors can pre-book group tours of the garden or simply explore it during their stay at the hotel.
Lunch was delicious and hand picked from the garden in some cases or sourced locally ( or within a certain amount of miles). Service was attentive but relaxed. I travelled there for the day for lunch and spa and it was a great get away from London for the day. The spa facilities were at the bottom of the fabulous garden, a small and perfectly formed spa ( only thing missing was a hot tub.. ) super relaxing and my massage was spot on. I had THE best and relaxing day

We stayed across the road at The Pub, which I'd highly recommend. Dinner was booked at The Pig, an easy meander just up the road. We arrived to enjoy a cocktail before dinner in the lovely bar area. The team was really lovely and so friendly. We headed in for dinner, which was okay. The wine selection was vast, beers less so. Having been to quite a few of The Pigs, where I've always been bowled over by the standard of dining experience, you could say my expectations were high. The meal didn't quite live up to that expectation. It was nice food and well cooked, but in comparison to other meals I've enjoyed, this one was just okay and for what it was I thought quite overpriced. Also, the fire was on July, which was ridiculously hot! Apparently, it's Pig policy and for atmosphere... the atmosphere was a sauna, I felt sorry for staff as they seamlessly choreographed their way around guests. Great service, spectacular grounds, delicious cocktails, food a little underwhelming.

We stayed at the Village Pub and came to the PIG both nights for dinner. The second night was unplanned, but the food was just so good the first night that we couldn’t help but come back. The staff were more than accommodating finding us a table even though we hadn’t booked. The food was absolutely delicious, excellent cocktails and lovely staff. We’re already researching our next trip to one of the PIG hotels.

This was a fantastic getaway for our wedding anniversary. The location is ideal for visiting the Cotswolds with Cirencester Only a few miles away but why travel when you can relax in the beautiful gardens. The staff were attentive while we were in the gardens. The room was spectacular and really well equipped. The bed was comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant which was superb and the staff were very friendly and attentive but relaxed. Breakfast was also very good and different to most hotels Overall a wonderful experience

I was quite underwhelmed. For a place that prides itself on food, two average vegetarian options and one fish choice, that is made regularly at home, left me feeling quite uninspired actually. It was a lovely location and despite slow service, the staff made us feel special but I really wanted a more exciting menu for the price.

Beautiful location and gardens. Our room was gorgeous and the service we received was excellent. A standout moment for me was the hot stone massage I had with Bhim at The Fieldhouse Spa. Hands down the best massage I’ve ever had!

My first (but not last) visit. I came for a birthday lunch with family. We received a friendly welcome and started with a walk around the kitchen gardens. I was made to feel special and even had the daily menu printed with my name on it wishing me a Happy birthday ( great touch). My waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and the food was fresh and tasty. Having walked around the gardens and then seeing the produce on our plate seemed to make it taste even better. The atmosphere was vibrant, music just right, and the service was superb with plenty of smiles. The only thing that I could find to fault was that my Carpaccio of Monkfish didn't have the preserved lemon it promised on the menu, it would have enhanced the dish but it was still a decent plate. Everything else was really good. Overall it was a great birthday lunch and I would recommend it. I can't wait to go back for an evening dinner with friends.

Located in the charming Cotswold village of Coln St Aldwyns, The New Inn is a 16th-century country pub offering elegant rooms with complimentary WiFi and breakfast. Guests praise the beautiful rooms with comfortable beds and quality linens, as well as the stunning surrounding walks.
We were here at the weekend based on a friend's recommendation. Food was just excellent. Menu is short, with both Mains and Smalls which was ideal for my parents who don't eat much. Similar price to other Cotswold pubs but really really good food - we were so impressed. Serving staff were a bit dopey - seemed young and inexperienced - but nothing too amiss. Overall, this was a fabulous treat.

Well, where should I begin? It’s difficult and I must say beforehand that I am writing a review about the rooms and restaurant together. If I would have written a review just about the restaurant….5 star, easy. Fantastic food, well prepared, super lovely presented and the service was superb. That was that. The other thing was the room tough. The room itself looked nice, nothing too fancy, soft bed and ok spacious bathroom. Nevertheless there was no door to the bathroom, which was ok for my partner and me, but could be a big bummer for someone. The worst part of the stay was the night. We barely slept through because of a very loud noise which apparently came from some pipes or water heater. It was so loud that we woke up more than just a few times. Almost every hour or so we would be broken out of sleep. The next morning we kindly confronted a staff member and she said, while understandable to a degree, it would be because it’s an old building, what felt more like a dismissal than a solution. We would have appreciated at least a small gesture of compensation for the disturbed night or even a sorry. Perhaps this issue only affects certain rooms. Others may have a better experience. It feels horrible to give such nice place 3/5, but I want to be honest here.
Niki — Google review
A last minute decision to book a room here on Sunday night. Beautiful location and both my partner and I noticed the exceptional cleanliness throughout, both indoors and outdoors. On arrival, three staff huddled muttering behind the bar as we tried to check in as they didn't have the booking on their clipboard. Felt slightly unprofessional however this was minor. We were shown to our room (2), and from then on the service was great (the lady serving breakfast deserves a mention, she was busy but so friendly and continued her smile regardless of the busy period she had). The room was directly above the restaurant so slightly noisy until closing but nothing more than would be expected. It was equipped with plenty of towels, vanity kits and tea/coffee facilities. Very comfortable space and had a great night's sleep. The only gripe about the room was the water temperature in the shower was inconsistent. At times it was running very cold with only a few seconds of luke warm water. We had some food to share in the evening which was lovely. The pork croquette must be tried! Breakfast was also included, table service and one of the best full breakfasts we have had. Overall, whilst I think there's always room for improvement, it wouldn't feel right to give anything other than 5* for our stay here. Thank you! Would definitely recommend.

Simply one of the absolute best restaurants/ pubs in the Cotswolds. The small plates are incredible, the atmosphere and staff are amazing, the outside seating is heaven on a sunny day. Totally idyllic village. Great value for money. A total vibe! Would travel well out of my way to go here.

The staff was really nice and the food was good, had both breakfast and dinner, though some more vegetarian dishes on the menu would be nice. The room however was a disappointment - felt very run down, poorly maintained, huge stains on the carpet and the bathroom was not super clean unfortunately. Would recommend coming for dinner but not necessarily staying over

We were looking forward to our first meal after driving from Norfolk and booking a table after seeing some good reviews, although completion was limited in the area. The location was good but we were let down straightaway by drinks being wrong or not arriving entirely. Food orders arrived wrong, while the end result tasted great it took a bit of effort. All could have been resolved by some friendly smiles but few could be found.

The Masons Arms is a charming rustic pub located in the serene Cotswolds village of South Leigh. It offers a cozy atmosphere with outside seating, serving delicious dishes made from local produce. The pub also provides simple yet comfortable rooms with complimentary WiFi, making it an ideal spot for a countryside getaway. Visitors can enjoy the dog-friendly environment and outdoor space while savoring delectable meals prepared by friendly staff.
We had a fantastic three-night stay at Masons Arms! Our room was on the smaller side, but it was cozy and comfortable, making for a really pleasant stay. The staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming, ensuring we felt right at home. The restaurant was a highlight—we had all our meals there, and everything was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious, and we’d highly recommend dining here. The location is lovely too, set in a quiet, picturesque village in the heart of the Cotswolds, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The only small downsides were the kitchen fan, which sometimes sent cooking smells towards our windows, and a slightly sluggish faucet in the bathroom. But honestly, these were minor issues and didn’t take away from the overall experience. If you’re visiting the area, Masons Arms is definitely worth considering for both accommodation and dining!

On first appearance, a lovely pub with lots of charm. Unfortunately our visit wasn’t the greatest, we were ignored 3 times upon arrival by an older gentleman, with grey hair, who seemed to be the owner and left standing awkwardly in the middle of the bar. We were eventually seated by another member of the waitressing team, and after an unacceptably long time, a drinks and food order was taken. There was no crackling left, which was slightly disappointing as there was still pork on the menu. Food arrived quickly, and was hot and tasty. Although the portions of meat could be slightly larger, 2 medium slices per person seems a bit stingy. Gravy was excellent, although when we asked for more we had to empty the jug and return it to be refilled. Seems a bit strange, and seems we almost had to prove we were going to eat it all! The waitress did seem quite awkward about this though so presume the kitchen mandates it! Food was good, although we didn’t like the cauliflower cheese, could be personal preference but tasted like a strong, overpowering cheese had been used in the sauce. The reason for the low score is the poor service, only one waitress seemed to actually be trying, the tall, brunette. Everyone else either meandered around, or wasn’t there at all. We had no check back and a table arrived but the table they requested wasn’t ready, they had to hover awkwardly for 15 minutes or so next to us. Despite the previous table having been gone for some time. The bill arrived promptly, but having been walked past several times without any acknowledgment for payment, we eventually went to the bar and then we were instructed that we must move to the (portable) pay machine! Overall, good food, terrible service from most staff!

We popped in here for lunch on a Tuesday in November. We'd been meaning to go for quite a while but just hadn't got round to it. We hadn't booked but didn't have a problem getting a table. This is a lovely village pub, which hasn't long changed hands. Obviously we can't comment on what it was like, but we very much enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning. The menu wasn't huge (a good thing in my opinion) and definitely had something for everyone. Based on what we had, (a shared Aranchini starter, chilli and sausages and mash) the standard was very good indeed. Portion sizing was generous and the food itself was very tasty. I always worry about ordering Chilli in a pub. So often then can be quite bland. Not so here, it was absolutely delicious. We were so full desert didn't get a look in! Thank you to all the team who looked after us. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. So if you are looking for somewhere that does excellent quality pub food, look no further. Based on our experience, the new owners will do well.

What an amazing find! This hotel captures everything you hope for when visiting the Cotswolds. While the rooms are on the smaller side—as expected in a charming, older building—they're thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. The location is fairly central, making it a convenient base for exploring the area, and the Wi-Fi worked well throughout our stay. But the real standout here is the restaurant. The food is absolutely superb—think fine dining quality in a cozy, beautifully set space, and at a much more accessible price. While they do offer classic English pub-style options, the menu truly shines with elevated dishes you’d expect from a top-tier dining experience. Don’t miss it!

La Passione in Cirencester offers a taste of Italy for various occasions, from intimate dinners to family gatherings. The restaurant has a warm and authentic Italian atmosphere with friendly staff catering to your needs. Guests can enjoy a diverse menu with generous portion sizes and efficient service without compromising quality. The mouth-watering garlic bread with mozzarella is highly recommended, along with the delectable desserts.
Really wonderful place with very good food and great service. We really enjoyed our lunch here. The artichoke hearts were the best I have ever had. The tomato mozzarella and carbonara pasta were also really good. The garlic bread was different from what we were expecting and we didn’t enjoy it as much.

Not a huge fan of this restaurant. The service was great, but the food itself wasn’t worthwhile at all. The mussels were tough and the avocado and shrimp appetiser wasn’t fresh. The pork special and the salmon were also quite tough.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Friar Tuck Fish Bar is a popular spot with regulars coming and going, eagerly waiting for their freshly cooked meals. The friendly staff ensures that everyone feels welcome, even accommodating families with children. Customers rave about the large portions of fish and chips, noting the light and crispy batter and perfectly cooked chunky chips. While some find it a bit pricey, others appreciate the superb quality of the food.
A wonderful lady greeted us and explained she was alone end there may be a wait, we had 3 children with us and they were looked after first. Our orders came and my large cod was huge, it took up the whole plate and is hidden by the chips in the photo. All the food was superb. Best fish I’d had for ages. Reasonable prices and a clean environment. Thanks all.

Frida1907 — Google review
There is a very aggressive woman who works here (possibly runs it?). Without her, the place might be alright. But there’s a cliquey atmosphere as though you’re entering their territory, they’re rude most of the time and act like they’re doing you a favour, and the fish is small, usually cold, and a bit chewy. It’s a bit strange really — you’re only going to buy some fish and chips, after all. Check the opening hours — they’re wrong on here. And doublecheck your order when you get it — that will likely also be wrong.
C R — Google review
Average fish and chips. Fish was quite chewy/rubbery but batter was good. Service was very good and quick and the place was very busy. I had the medium cod and chips and thought it would be too much but fish wise there wasn’t actually much fish in all the batter but there were plenty of chips. Overall a good experience in the shop but not the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. £8.30 for medium cod and chips.
Amber A — Google review
This is a really nice good old fashion (but updated) fish and chip shop. We were impressed with the batter on the fish and the chunky chips were cooked really nicely too. This chip shop is a bit pricey though, probably the most expensive I've ever been in, but the food was nice.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Great Food, But Packing Mistakes Let It Down We’ve been loyal customers of The Friar Tuck Shop Bar for the past two years, and I have to say, the quality of their fish and chips is absolutely spot on. The chips are always perfectly cooked, and the fish is fresh, crispy, and just right. It’s genuinely one of the best chippies around! However, it’s with a heavy heart that I have to leave a four-star review due to a few recent hiccups with the packing of our Deliveroo orders. About a month ago, we placed an order for the family, but a couple of sausages for my kids were missing. We called up, and one of the staff members—who had just finished her shift—very kindly offered to bring the sausages to us. That gesture was genuinely appreciated. Then, just last week, while I was in the birthing ward with my wife (who was in labour), we ordered one fish and chips and one sausage and chips for the kids. What arrived was two fish and chips. As you can imagine, in the middle of all the chaos, we just told the kids to get on with it, and an hour later, our newborn baby was here. Mistakes happen, and we took it on the chin. But then tonight, we were missing a chicken pie. We called up, and this time, we were asked if we could come and collect it ourselves. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option for us. They apologised, but it’s now becoming a bit of a pattern, and I have to admit it’s starting to feel a bit unreliable. I understand they may be incredibly busy and rushing to get orders out on time, but it’s starting to show in the packing mistakes. It’s a real shame because the food is genuinely fantastic, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. I’d still recommend The Friar Tuck Shop Bar, but if you’re ordering for delivery, I’d suggest either going in person or double-checking the order before you leave. The food is worth it, but the packing could definitely use a bit more attention, especially during busy periods. Hopefully, they can iron out these issues because we’ve always loved ordering from here.

Fantastic country pub with friendly staff set in a lovely setting. As a group of 10 they were very accommodating to our needs. Our numbers increased last minute and they adapted accordingly. Great atmosphere outside after our dinner with a live performer in the garden space by the river.
Thinus D — Google review
As a regular visitor to the Bathurst I have had many positive experiences here, both solo and with friends and family. The food is always good, they cater for an allergy (which is a rare one). I would say improvement is needed on the Sticky Toffee pudding but I am a harsh critic of this particular dish! It is expensive but in keeping with the A435 Corridor and area. The atmosphere is good fun in the bar area, with plenty of cheeky banter and sometimes strong language. If it’s a romantic evening you’re after, sitting down near the river (in warmer times) or the restaurant may be more suited for quieter, uninterrupted conversations. Otherwise, the bar is a lively place to join in. Music nights are a welcome addition that Jason and Sheree have brought and I always look forward to visiting when there is a singer. The staff are friendly and remember, local, so if they sometimes have a laugh with a regular as you wait, try not to be offended. Regular visitors keep the place open. When I first came here I loved watching this from a distance and it's what keeps me going back. It's also worth noting timing is key. If you arrive between 4-6pm on any given night, expect hustle and bustle as locals finish work and come to unwind. With that great atmosphere, expect longer waiting times - always book ahead if you would like food. Overall, a welcoming pub with great food, lively evenings, and quieter options if that’s what you’re after.

As a regular visitor to The Bathurst Arms I honestly can find no resemblance between my own experience and some of the negative reviews found on this site. I have eaten many times here, either on my own or in a large group and each occasion has been a joy. The weekend Breakfast is superb and great value for money. The Lunch menu boasts the best open steak sandwich in the area and if you are lucky enough to call in on a Thursday and the local produce is available, always take a look at the Specials. The Bathurst is rapidly becoming the true community hub and you will always find someone to chat to.

The Bathurst Arms is a true gem! Jason and his wonderful team go above and beyond to make every visit special. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness that makes you feel right at home. The service is attentive without ever being intrusive, and you can tell the staff take real pride in what they do. The atmosphere is welcoming and full of charm, the food is consistently excellent, and the little touches from Jason and his team really set this place apart. Whether you’re popping in for a pint, a meal, or a longer stay, you’ll always be looked after with the highest level of care. A visit to the Bathurst Arms isn’t just a meal out – it’s an experience. I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Staying at the Bathurst Arms was a genuine pleasure. The pub boasts a beautifully authentic and cozy atmosphere, complemented by consistently excellent meals. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the Korean-style chicken burger standing out as a particular highlight yum! The staff were warm and welcoming, contributing to an inviting experience enhanced by friendly locals. The pub becomes quite busy during dinner time, so l recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Despite a small team, the staff managed walk-ins with great professionalism even in peak times. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, my visit to the Bathurst Arms was disappointing. While the setting is attractive, the food did not justify the high prices and the service lacked both warmth and attentiveness. With so many excellent pubs in the area, I would suggest looking elsewhere for a better experience.
Hannah — Google review
Last year my partner was very (!) ill after a meal here and it took me over a year to pursuade him to try it again - it is our local after all and I think it had changed management in the meantime. On arrival at around 6:45pm we were greeted very rudely by the person at the bar who seemed to be stunned that 2 people might like to get some simple dinner on a weeknight at their local - fully booked apparently though very few bums on seats, and would not even help us out with a bowl of chips saying “then there might not be any for the people who have booked?” - eh?! We said it didn’t matter if we had to wait a bit but that was evidently all too much hassle. So we reluctantly stayed for a drink and were handed over to someone else who proceeded to shout over us very aggressively to some men sat watching videos on their phone by the bar - they really weren’t bothering us but having our faces shouted in did! Sadly this is one of worst pubs in this area.

I discovered a charming brunch spot called The Old Cafe in Cirencester through Google maps. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by a pleasant lady. Their coffee service was prompt and their brew was of high quality. I placed an order for the Old Cafe Breakfast and an English Breakfast, both freshly prepared and beautifully presented dishes. The sausage and bacon were particularly delightful.
Great breakfast. The food was hot, tasty and cooked to perfection. Had just done a workout and just had to enjoy a classic English. Looks like this cafe has been under new management and they are doing a good job. I think this is one of the last remaining ‘authentic’ British cafes of Cirencester. Keep up the good work and for those who want to visit, do the local businesses some justice.

You're probably aware that I'm a great fan of swirly things on my coffee ☕️. I regret that swirlyness does not reside at The Old Cafe in Cirencester. Considering this is an independent 🤔 establishment the taste of the latte did not rank as high as those which rank higher than it. In my opinion that includes more than 50% of those reviewed in earlier posts. Forgive me, but room for improvement.

I came here with a group of students on a school trip and it was lovely. They were very accommodating, even opening on a day they’d usually be closed so that we could come. All the drinks and food were lovely, and it gave a great opportunity for some of our International students to enjoy a very traditional English breakfast in a traditional cafe in a rural town. Lovely, thank you.

Great value Roast beef Hot drinks all very reasonably priced (£2.20-£2.80) Good range on offer, mostly variants of all day breakfast Friendly, smiley staff Smallish but very interesting beamed building

Nice breakfast and good coffee. You could actually taste the coffee. This was our second breakfast for the day so I wasn't glutenous. If in aera would go again .

In Cirencester early to visit farmers market. Always try and use a local independent place to eat and picked The Old Cafe. First ones in but soon started filling up. Warm welcome. Breakfast was hot and fresh. Mixture of full breakfast, scrambled egg on toast and beans on toast. All with lovely tea and coffee. Great place for breakfast.

Looking for brunch in Cirencester and found this place on Google maps. Lovely friendly smiling lady welcomed us in. Got to be the cleanest place we been into, no marks or smudges on menus and tables all spotlessly clean. Had our coffee very quickly, and good coffee by the way. Our order a short time later we had Old Cafe Breakfast and an English Breakfast off the menu, freshly cooked. Very well presented and hot. The sausage and bacon where delicious. We also had an extra coffee and a milkshake. The menu isnt huge, but there is a good choice with vegetarian options, lunch, and light meals but is priced very reasonably. Definitely worth a revisit and a real friendly hidden gem in Cirencester. Thankyou The Old Cafe it was lovely meal.

I was visiting the area and called into this friendly café for a breakfast and it was brilliant - it opens at 0830 It got busier as I arrived as I was the first customer - it is still central but down Cricklade Street and prefer not to use a chain It was nice to take my time to have breakfast after my swim and before getting the bus back home Keep up the good work
