Had a wonderful dinner with my wife. We had the three course surprise menu with half a wine menu. All the courses were prepared with care and tasted good. The service was also very attentive and kind. Highly recommended.

Fine dining with reasonable price level. 3 course surprise menu was really good, even the wine packet was priced nicely. Really worth the visit. Only complain is that there are too many components. This happened with all courses. Example: Too many diff veggies in the main, chorizos could have been left out. Service and atmosphere were superb.

Amazing food! I suggest you to try catch of the day! Perfect amount and taste! Also, key lime pie and Vausti's Trifle was really good too. Expensive though be aware.

I went here with my coworkers, and although the service was a bit slower than we're used to, the food was amazing. I had an asparagus dish with butter and hollandaise sauce, and a beet dish with farmer's cheese, potatoes, cauliflower and onions. The descriptions on the menu do not do the dishes justice. My coworkers' meals were equally as beautiful and delicious as well.

Experimental cousine in southern Finland was unexpected I must say, but I was also pleasantly surprised. Pork, lamb and even crickets were delicious, everyone was satisfied in our party of ten. Good selection of local (and non) gins, which is always a nice touch. As often, I'm not the biggest fan of the portion's size in this part of the world. Recommended.

Gorgeous place, delicious food and desserts, especially overcooked moose chest is a delight! And OMG, their overcooked bovine cheek just melts in your mouth. We had a three course surprise menu which was very good with tasty wines.

It was a very pleasant surprise to find this place in Kotka. You would not have expected to find a true gourmet expiriance there, but Vausti had proven me wrong. Great meals served on the size you want-as a starter or as a main, which allowed me to have three course meal without feeling stuffed. 2019 revisit, this time I tried the fried crickets and they tasted like roasted sunflower seeds. Everything else was great still.

Delicious thin crust pizza! Pizza was big enough, not fatty and made with fresh tasting fillings. Customerservice was very nice.

Canttiini comes highly recommended by my grandma's friend, and now I understand why she loves it so much. The vibe is incredibly cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The food is not only delicious but also served in generous portions. Even the salad is exceptionally tasty! If you're looking for a place with great food and a welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely it.

I was very happy with the drinks and food at Canttiini. I ordered the fish of the day as I was not too hungry, it was a good amount of food! They also have a free salad bar which was a bonus, good selection and quality all around.

It's better than your average kebab shop. I would still say that their food is overrated and overpriced. Price/Quality is much worse than it used to be. There is a rumour going around the town town that this might also be the only kebab shop that doesn't cheat on taxes. Maybe true.

Good bistro in Kotka, pizzas wery ok, for me burgers too dry, needs more melting cheese and mayo sauces. Good atmosphere.

The food was amazing. Every dish looked great and tasted even better. The restaurant had a warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect for a special night or just a casual dinner. The drinks and desserts were also really good, and there were lots of wines to choose from. The service was excellent.👍

I visited this restaurant the previous week and was positively surprised by the quality of food and service. The young waitress was both helpful and attentive. Also, communication in proper English was not a problem. The interior gives you the sense of the place where time has stopped, which was a unique experience, in a way. I ordered an appetizer and the catch of the day. The appetizer was a mix of different fishes which was nice, but I would work on the presentation. The main course was outstanding. I ordered my fish with a spectacular lemon risotto. I have not had such a tasty main course in a while. I tend to complain about Finnish restaurants, but not in this case. I highly recommend dining here, pricy, but worth it.

I visited Wanha Fiskari with my Finnish colleagues, and it was a memorable experience. The smoked salmon was outstanding — rich in flavor with a deep smoky aroma that left a lasting impression. The desserts were also delightful, balancing the meal perfectly. As a visitor from Korea, I truly enjoyed the authentic Finnish touch in both the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended!

A traditional Finnish restaurant exactly like you remember them from the early 2000s. The food was good, with gluten-free options available, but a bit high on the salt. The portion sizes were good, especially the amount of fish was a nice surprise. Friendly service.

Simply amazing! My wife got catch of the day which was Pike Perch. Best fish she/we have ever had! I had the steak with pepper sauce and it was top shelf. I rarely eat fish, but tried my wife's and actually loved it! The creme brulee was perfect. Absolutely a meal deserving of a 5 star review. I would give 6 if I could. You must try the food here!

It is one of the few ones I liked in Finland. It is in Kotka, with nice location. We have ordered grilled salmon and salmon soup for the children and white fish dishes. The food was great but it is expensive one. It is romantic place with low lights, but we chose to sit outside. I would recommend this restaurant.

Overall a good place to drink and eat, not fully impressed with the food but maybe not my style. Beer was cold and fresh, food was hot and enjoyable. I would say the best part of my visit was the staff interacting with everyone, they all enjoyed working to please the crowds.

Despite the fact that we were quite literally the only customers at the time the service we got was at an unacceptable level. We ordered appetizers but never received any and a pregnant person in our group particularly request well done meat but receiving medium at best. Also the music volume was also way higher than necessary The dishes were delicious but the game was already lost by the time they arrived

Friendly staff and great food as always. The bar located within the restaurant and the loud music might bother you. There's toilets too, even though they might be a bit hard to find without asking the waiter. The only thing bithering me was the hand sanitizer pffered at the doors, that smelled absolutely horrifying.

Normally the food here is average 3/5, but last time one of our burgers beef was burned black and hard. Only the worst possible beer on tap (karjala). Very expensive bottled beers available if you dont drink that pee. Dance music playlist is strange for restaurant. Dont get fooled thinking its mexican style.

This place favors style over substance. The decor mimics a nice mid range restaurant from the noughties, but the food is a generic weaternized version. Service was good and toilets tidy, with kid friendly items on the menu and a childcare room to change nappies in.

Went for a dinner. Food was really delicious and was good for the portion. The only problem was that we ordered shrimp dumpling and fried shrimp for appetizer. But instead of bringing shrimp dumpling, they brought prawn cracker and had to pay extra for their fault. Apart from that everything was nice.

Mediocre at best. Foods do not taste authentic and lack the right kind of ingredients. Especially the thai dishes are off. Their lunch time buffet deal is decent, but everything on the menu has similar taste.

Everything was fine—the food, the atmosphere. The only thing was the girl working at the restaurant's reception. When I spoke to her in English, she looked at me as if I wasn't welcome, and it made me feel bad. Otherwise, I recommend everything; just work a bit with the staff and their behavior towards foreigners.

Place looks amazing. Unfortunetely food is terrible there. Doesn't taste like Thai food at all. In my dish vegetables were raw (especialy problematic with too bold-cut onion) and chicken tasted like cooked (not fried or whatever) weeks ago and then just added to sauce and soup (I've tried both: soup and main dish). Even coffee wasn't proper esspresso but just normal coffee in small cups. Don't recomend this place at all.

It was too late to reserve a place online, so we called and got in. Since it was off season the place was empty. An other group came later. The service was friendly and witty. The food was done well and accompanied with interesting garnishes. Highly recommend trying it out.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Finland. Each of the food item had been made with its own proper spices unlike many Indian restaurants here in Finland that use the same tomato based ‘base’ for all the food items in the menu.

Lamb was rather tough, this can't possibly be the way it is done no way, have this meat lovely and tender slow cooking it would have had a much better results. That burning hot pan also did not help, burning the sause black.

Dish looks fantastic. It tastes completely bland. The meal in picture is beef shashlik. This meal cost 18 euros. The price to meal quality/quantity ratio is very poor. If the meals were cheaper, ~10 euros, 3 stars.

We had a rather strange experience at Vaakku this time. It was a very warm day, and we were happy to get a nice table in the shade. Unfortunately, the service was rude and unfriendly from the beginning. Later, we learned that most of the staff hadn’t shown up that day. As the only waitress told us: “There’s only one waitress today — and it’s me.” It’s understandable to be stressed in that kind of situation, but it does raise questions about the management. How is it possible they had no backup plan? That said, the food was excellent. We had the catch of the day, which was well-prepared and truly enjoyable. The wine selection, however, was very limited. Overall, it was still a pleasant outing — the boat transfer to the small island, the museum visit, and walking around the island were all worth the trip. The bad service was quickly forgotten, but we don’t plan to dine at this restaurant again any time soon.

very nice location for dinner, good food and very nice people. we got even lucky with the weather which made it even more special. about 15min away from Kotka Harbor. a must go to for everyone that likes a little "special". I really enjoyed the soups they were offering, meals are a bit small compared to other places. I'll be back ;)

If you have reservation for the restaurant, please keep in mind that you don't need to pay the €9 10 minute boat trip fee to the island. Nice view there ! We ordered wine, few different dishes like snail , fish and chicken . Fish was ok but the marinated chicken have very wierd taste and also the cheese snail. Price is affordable, the service was bad tho. The staff look very tired and exhausted.

Nice and cozy, classic architecture and interior design. Service was as good as expected in a place like this. The (new) brunch is better optimized than in previous years. Buffet-table is now completely in the middle of the room (breads included), so it did not get cramped even though there were quit many customers having a brunch. Salads and other fresh foods were fresh and everything tasted exactly as they looked. Bread section was significantly better than before and cold cuts were tasty. Warm food had good flavours and e.g. sausages are better than usual (they are from Takalato, I asked). Would have payed a bit more to get a larger variety of delicacies, but for the 25 eur price point this was just about what is expected. Ginget shots(?) for starters and desserts were a nice addition to the brunch-experience.

There’s glass in my dessert! I chewed the glass in half and my gum is bleeding! The restaurant offered 25% off as compensation. The restaurant has no idea where is the glass coming from. The food was good, but my holiday evening is ruined because of this incident. I am afraid to drink or eat any other food in the restaurant after this incident. I don’t felt respected as an Asian. The manager came to talk with my husband but offered no apology to me! If you are colored people, don’t suggest to come this restaurant!

Very nice food, we had the tasting menu, all servings were very nice, would of been 5☆, but the lack of understanding about what route you take to the terrace with your dog lost a ☆, we asked the right way in, went that way, 2 staff members shout at us, no nice, I came very close to walking out, they need to get a plan set up so dog owners are not put in a bad situation, our service person was 5☆, will go again, but don't want the shouting again about the dog route.

I want to ask this restaurant owner, today your employee refused me and my family to enter the restaurant for dinner because I do not have a Covid vaccine certificate from EU, employee said restaurant does not accept Covid vaccine certificate from other countries and this policy instructed from city authority. I will ask City authority directly after new year but one thing sure is we could not have the proper dinner in new year eve. Thanks for your hospitality to foreign tourists.

This is a solid 3 stars: the place just been refurbished, staff are friendly, food is good. Menu is more on the French side (aiming for a bistro style) but with Finnish staples like chanterelle soup, reindeer meat, or anything with salmon. Prices are a bit high for a chain restaurant (3 courses at around 50€).

Really good food, lots to choose from. Narrow beer selection, more wine oriented. Pretty fast service, even when crowded. Recommended for groups or just you. Some special nights, check out beforehand.

Relaxed atmosphere. All You Can Eat Buffet until 5pm for 13€ is fairly good for Finnish prices including tea, coffee and water! Liked the veggie Sushi options.

Been 4 or 5 times. I agree with some comments in regards to empty buffet. Somtimes it is great. Other times it is a disaster. I like the water bottles with ice on the table. Staff is nice but what does that matter if there is not enough food in the buffet...fix that and rating will improve.

Hi everyone! If you want to come to this place for lunch or dinner, I don't recommend it. We came here for the first time. The buffet was literally empty, there were leftovers and the food was not refilled. The choice is limited on its own, but they are not even trying to make it better by making fresh rolls and warm meals and bring them to the buffet. You just have to choose from a weirdly-looking and tasting leftovers. We are very disappointed🫤 If you want to come to this restaurant check what food is there available and if you like it, then pay, but we paid first and then regretted it🤥 Will not come back.

So far the best Asian cuisine in town. The food was really good and the spices were perfect in my opinion. The dishes where pretty big and worth the money.

The interior was more than beautiful. The waitresses were nice and kind. The food was absolutely delicious, we ordered the three little meals and four little meals and we got a big bowl of rice on top of everything. The prices are very acceptable! We will come back for sure.

Buffet lunch was very disappointing. Worst salmon soup I have ever had in Finland (very soft I.e overcooked and overly salty).

We had lunch here while visiting Kotka and the museum on 19th May. I want to thank the whole restaurant staff for their work: the food was very good and everybody in restaurant was polite and helpful. We liked the atmosphere so much so we even came here the next day. I think it is the best option for family lunch! Thank you! Will definitely come back when we are in Kotka again!

Branch is rather expensive, 22e/person, but overall this is very good place to have one. Choice of dishes is not so great, but the quality of food is very high.

Decent foods, although the pizza was a bit challencing to cut with the provided cutlery. The pizza tasted alright. The staff had good serving attitude even for english speaking customers.

If you want good pizza, Kotipizza is the place to go. Pricier than most pizza places but you get quality too. Not very cosy or comfortable place to eat but you can take away your pizza to eat it somewhere else.

Pizza is always great. Delivery is quick, but the seating is nice to eat in with as well. Great value with close parking and english understanding staff

The food was nice but the combination was a bit strange. I ordered the veggie bowl, and got dumplings with vegetables and garlic bread. Furthermore they charge 1 euro for the tapwater which is quite strange, since it is free in the rest of Finland. The staff was friendly

It's a nice place where you can eat and drink. In case of proper lunch/dinner restaurant is just next to it. In bar I've never tried to order anything bigger to eat than popcorn, skittles or mnms :-D ps. popcorn if for free :-) There is decent selection of finnish beers and ciders, I think that everybody can find something good there. Service is very nice as well.

Me and my wife visited this establishment on a Friday evening while visiting Kotka. It was not too busy and plenty of emtpy tables. Inside it was clean and well kept. We were taken to a table of our choosing outside and given a menu. Going outside was our choice as it was a very warm and lovely evening. The menu was in finnish, english and russian. The waiter said she would return in a few minutes to take our order. The were 5 or 6 waiters working. 30 minutes later still no waiter. However 2 ladies that arrived 10 minutes after us were served promptly and where clearly friends of the waiter as the waiter spent time chatting with them only to walk past us and ignore us. After 30 minutes of waiting, i ventured inside to seek out a waiter and place my order. I found another 3 customers in que still waiting for their order. After quing for another 15 minutes and being ignored, myself, my wife and another customer took our leave with being ignored for 45 minutes. If you seek a place to feel uncomfortable and ignored then this is the place i recommended for you If your looking for a friendly atmosphere and good food then this is not the place for you. Unless ofcourse you are a friend of the staff.

Whilst in Kokta on my jack-jones a quality place with welcoming staff and ambience. The pizza and wine is decent also..

The location offers lovely views, but it is extremely isolated—definitely not ideal without a car. There is no access to public transport whatsoever, and the nearest shop is a 35-minute walk away, A brisk walk, bus stop is closer to 40 min through the forest. For those without a vehicle, even a short trip becomes inconvenient and expensive; a taxi into the nearest town cost nearly €30 one way. There are no food options nearby, and unfortunately, the on-site restaurant was closed in the evening. This made it very difficult to find anything to eat without planning in advance or relying on costly transport. The room itself had a comfortable bed, While the bathroom looked modern, it had very poor drainage—after a shower, the entire bathroom floor was soaked and remained wet for quite some time, making it uncomfortable and impractical. Room cleanliness could have been better, and I was not informed that there would be no housekeeping during two-night stay. Additionally, the mini fridge in the room made noticeable noise throughout the night, which disrupted sleep. The surroundings near the entrance were also not particularly pleasant, with skips and construction equipment contributing to a messy, unfinished appearance. Breakfast was adequate but extremely basic and sparse. The bread selection was minimal, and the overall variety of food options was limited. Visually, the breakfast presentation looked sparse as well. Staff members were polite and seemed genuinely friendly, but service overall was just okay rather than memorable or attentive. In summary, while the views are lovely, the experience lacked convenience, comfort, and essential amenities. A car is absolutely necessary if you plan to stay here.

Simple rooms and the staff was a bit unfriendly. They were doing quite difficult when we wanted the key. Furthermore, it is quite far from the city center, 35 minutes walking. Our room was also not cleaned properly, there were some hairs in the bathroom. Also the pillows were extremely hard. The beach, it dirty. I will not recommend this place. Tv was also not working. You can see it in the picture.

Beautiful beach landscape, calm environment, stylish furnishing… What could go wrong? Well everything apparently. Firstly we received a phonecall a few hours before our intended arrival, notifying us that there was going to be a private event hosted in the restaurant area that would play music till 11 PM and as a result the restaurant would be closed. The caller offered no introduction so it took a while to even figure out it was from the hotel… Second issue was the check-in: When we arrived, about 20 minutes past the agreed time we were told check-in starts in 2 1/2 hours. Okay, we were asked to state our time of arrival when we booked our room, maybe we missed something in the instructions… Well, we left for some lunch and came back a little past the time they said was okay. This time the desk manager looks at us with a slightly pained expression: ”Unfortunately I told the cleaner to fix your room last… It will take around half an hour more til it’s ready.” At this point I’m a little amused… We fill out some forms and get our door numbers, then we just wait. Third issue: The music was loud and lasted way past 11 PM, wedding guests were aggressive with the doors, cursing etc. It didn’t delay our sleep too much but I didn’t like it. Fourth and final issue: The breakfast was expensive and although there were many dishes to pick from, none of it was a pleasure to eat. Eggs were rock-hard, pancakes dry like cardboard etc. And to top it all we were never offered any compensation for all the inconveniences we suffered through. Would definitely not recommend.

Really nice family accomodation (room 8) with 2 separate adjoining rooms. One room has queen size double bed. Room 2 has a single 90 bed and a elevated 160cm bed at the window. Both rooms has good bedding and very comfortable beds and large TVs w Netflix in both rooms. Coffee and tea and fridge available. Slippers. Bathroom small but absolutely great w overhead shower. This place is loved and well taken care of judging by the attention to detail. Rooms was warm despitecit being - 22c outside. Breakfast is great considering it is a small hotel during off season. Magic view from the restaurant. Lady on duty in the restaurant showed great sense of hospitality, making us feel welcomed. We will be back for sure!

Tasty lunch buffet, lovely beach view, friendly service.

Location is pretty good for view, but pretty far away from most amenities not offered by the hotel or restaurant, except for the beach. Can't speak for the rooms as I've not stayed, but can say that in the restaurant the service is outrageously slow. We waited at least an hour after ordering, at a time during which there was little to no other orders, hope anyone reading this won't have to see what rush time is like. Additionally wait staff seems constantly over worked even with most tables free, to the point that we probably waited half an hour before even being able to order.

Three days before our trip the hotel contacted us to tell us they were now having a party the same night until 2am, with loud music, which also meant we could not use the restaurant, bar, or terrace at all, and would we like to cancel? So just keep in mind, that could be you too...

So called gas stations are not my favorite places for meals. However, this ABC has good porridge and coffee. Also, their lunch buffet is pretty good. Both are inexpensive. There is also a good grocery store. As far as gas station goes, yes, you can buy gas and charge your electric car at high speed if needed. If you’re lucky the equipment to add more air to your tires works. The staff is helpful and friendly.

We have been there several times; lunch and dinner. First time we went everything was perfect; food, customer service and interior. Next time we went it was not so good; steak was not what ordered (supposed to be medium - came well-done), tables were dirty, sauce on the floor, waitress did not clean tables or floor at that time we were there. Would be better also if lunch menu would be on website.

We were bit confused on our orders. We did not understand why my friend were asked to order salad or fries separately if was included in steak. I was supposed to get vegan pizza but still wondering if all ingredient was vegan specially cheese. I had symptoms of lactose allergy later. I clearly asked for vegan food and we were showed that pizza. My friend who joined us later cud not order food as there was a big group who came in between putting us in the queue for more than 1.5 hr. Overall presentation and place was good but we were not impressed because of all these.

My second time visiting and I must say this is one of my favourite places in Kotka! Especially the meat lovers pizza is amazing 🥇

Unfortunatelly we where unpleasantly suprised how untidy was this particular place. Wooden shelves are full off dust. Fri potatoes could be hotter and fresher. We really apriciated the broun bread burger and El maco burgers, also interesting spicy nuggets. Staff could be more polite, especially with turists. We where in many McDonald’s arround the world- this one one of the unpleasant ones, unfortunatelly.

Beautiful old building with many charming details both inside and out. Our room was very large but singles in our party had normal sized rooms. The breakfast was fabulous with many choices for an American or European palate. Just a heads up, there is no A/C. We visited in the fall so this wasn't an issue for us. Overall, I highly recommend.

Cool old mansion about 6km from downtown Kotka. We stayed here due to the hotels in town being fully booked, and honestly, did not expect much. The mansion is in quite good condition, though, and rooms are big with good beds, tidy bathrooms and high ceilings. The rooms had some kind of perfume dispensers that instantly clogged up my nose and made my throat tingle, I ditched mine in the hallway - so be aware if you are allergic or asthmatic. Breakfast was good, I'd say almost Scandic level, if not even better. The staff seemed to be stressed out by the presence of customers. I tried buying a soda from the reception's fridge, but even that was not possible when the restaurant is not open (only open with prior booking). Grocery store, Kotipizza, Hesburger and Alko are only a couple hundred meters away, so you can still treat yourself with a nice takeaway dinner.

The idea is better than the outcome, but a very pleasant mansion some 10 km away from downtown Kotka. Beautiful riverside and all in all nice surroundings, including a pleasant surprise park 10 minute walk away.

Staying in suite. Lots of space for clothes. A bit odd? Also no shower gel in the shower, just the hand soap. No biggie, I guess? Balcony door locked. For safety reasons? No tv in the room but two outside the room in the guest area. Not too many outlets for charging phone. One pillow per bed, where to get more, no phone in the room? River is vivid, extra star for that. Reception was nice, we asked for vegan breakfast and managed to have it served earlier than what the breakfast is normally served. They even went and got us vegan yoghurt. Extra star for this!

The food was some of the nicest and well presented Nepalese food I have ever had. Annokset oli muutenki mauttomampia kuin muissa panchoissa. Pekoni ei myöskään ollut rapeaa. Tajusimme myös vasta tilauksen jälkeen ettei meiltä limun kokoa kysytty vaa automaattisesti tuotiin 0.5l. Ehkä ruuhka-aikaan ei myöskään mukavin paikka syödä koska ihmisiä kävelee jatkuvasti ohi. Mutta maha tuli täyteen ja sehän se pääasia on. 😇
