Great food and atmosphere! Unique place with excellent food and wine. We had the steak and tried two desserts which were fantastic. But the service needs to be improved as they need to get organised and inform the customers of any food / wines that they have run out once they bring the menus.

The is a super on-trend and quaint location. They offer beers and wine local and expanded. Their food while a focused menu celebrates the region. We did the calamari, hake, shrimp pasta. We enjoyed everything. Key tip: reservations peak nights or risk delays in seating. The kitchen is run amazing, on a busy Sunday evening we were sat and served attentively over 1 hours. If you want local Tuna, Aged beef, and a great atmosphere go here.

We came here in July 2025, following a recommendation of our hotel (which also owns this restaurant). We arrived around 20h00 pm and were glad that we had reserved our places well in advance, since the restaurant was crowded and there was already a small queue forming at the door. Thanks to our reservation, we were seated immediately. Service was super attentive: it's not that "one" waiter takes care about your table, they all took turns and took care of everything. Example: if a dish was finished, any waiter would pick up the empty dish if he passed by the table. - Food was very good, we had bife tasqueiro and filet mignon. My "medium rare" was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy "just like it should be". Also, great choice of desserts. Very much recommended!

A brilliant way to honour the legacy of our elders and the recipes of our past generations. The Alcatra dish is a must..if one hasn't tried it yet. service too is of exceptional standards!

Highly recommend trying the regional Alcatra and the blood sausage, both were exceptional in flavor and preparation. The attentive service and warm, inviting atmosphere make this restaurant an excellent choice for dinner.

This was our favorite restaurant while visiting Terceira. The service was very good, and the food was excellent ! I had the tuna steak, amazing, and my husband had the filet, cooked perfectly and very tender. He just wished it was bigger, lol.

Absolute gem of a little restaurant. Excellent food. The presentation, the service etc... only caveat was the washrooms. My 90 tear old mom was not impressed with the ladiesroom and the men's wasn't much better. So don't use them....

We had the fresh fish of the day on a platter for two, served with potatoes, sweet potatoes, and vegetables. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and very tasty. A special mention goes to our waiter Tomás, who filleted the fish right at our table and served it with great friendliness and attention – excellent service! Dessert was a perfect finish. With the view of the harbor, it was a wonderful evening. We’ll be happy to come back.

Best fish I have ever had! The catch of the day was porco (Grey triggerfish) and it was grilled to perfection. My husband and I shared lapas (limpets) as an appetizer - a must try! Service was excellent. We didn't have a reservation but they found us a table as we arrived around 7.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the terrace of this fish restaurant with a view of the small harbour. If you love fish, this is the place to be. You can admire the fresh caught fish in the display or just ask the waiter for recommendations, like we did. The service was very friendly and our waiter spoke English very well. We absolutely adored the fish. The pineapple was a bit of a disappointment though, not as sweet and juicy as we would have hoped. So just skip dessert and come here for the fish.

We tried calling and couldn’t get through, but they were still able to squeeze us in - the place was packed! It was our last night in Terceira, so really thankful we didn’t have to resort to fast food. Fish was the best fish I had all trip! Service was superb and fun 🙂

The Limpets which the island is known for are in edible. You wouldn’t find a local in this place if their life depended on it. Every other bite of the night, was inedible, I couldn’t chew my food, maybe a few bites but it was actually that bad. I felt like I was eating Bart Simpson’s shorts. Lastly, no one is here, and if you witness that, it is for good reason.

We loved this place so much that we ate there 3 times in 4 days! Both the food and the service was wonderful. I enjoyed both types of skewers. They were consistently delicious and fresh. The sweet potatoes and french fries were my favourite sides. My cousin enjoyed the lapas (ordered 12 and got 30) and two kinds of grilled fish which were both absolutely delicious. Staff took their time to walk her to the fresh fish counter and explained what types there were. You can’t get fresher than what was there.

Very pretty view of the crashing waves & mountain, incredibly attentive & kind service, & the food presentation & taste were good. The seafood soup in a bread bowl was so yummy & the squid & shrimp skewers were very good. (The limpeds were a little strong & salty but I think they're just an acquired taste.) We would definitely return here, if anything but to try their octopus which was not available today.

We came here given the high reviews and it was mentioned in a list of best restaurants on the island, but it is not worth the stop. The service was incredibly slow, and the food was alright at best. Except the bone marrow, which was fantastic. The limpets were very large and numerous but overcooked making them chewy. Overall this one can be skipped unless you are in the area and there are not other options

We got here as they opened as a party of 5. After being told it was a little bit of a wait. We waited for over 2 hours to be seated, others were sat before us and my mother-in-law had to ask if they planned on seating us. We spent about an hour and a half at the table and the food was really good. We did have to ask for the side of sweet bread that came with our meal that they seemed to forget. The service was ok.

Waited 2 hours and saw a table seated before we arrived still waiting to be served. Reserved or not you will wait. Poor time management. I lived 6 years on the mainland and never waited this long for a table. After being served the owner picked up the slack and made sure all the tables were served including serving the table himself. It feels like a shift changed after 2pm. The food is great. Once this place handles the time management issues then this restaurant would be perfect. Not sure what caused the slowness before 2pm as things are moving now.

Had a wonderful lunch there today! Started with a delicious Bean Soup. Then moved on to main course - beef alcarta and a plate of assorted pork products. All were delicious and servings was plentiful. House wines were very good. Would highly recommend eating here!

The best steak I've ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked and flavored. The marrow was incredible and the chickpea salad was delicious and light. Highly recommend!

Walked in at 12:30 (30 min after opening) without a reservation. Was told it would be 1.5hr wait for a table for 2 with five tables ahead of us. We decided to wait anyway and sat in the garden / porch. It ended up being only 50 min wait (still long but faster than expected) since any popular restaurant would have been some wait without a reservation. Ordered the filet mignon for two. Delicious! It took a while but the best steak on the islands so far. It was also served with fresh pineapple, orange, and fries which complemented the meat amazingly. Finished off with the Brigadeiro tarte. Definitely would recommend stopping for food here but definitely expect a wait!

A must-do restaurant in Terceira. We had the cheese, the sample menu and the “house dessert” I think. The food was simply amazing, but what stood out even more was the friendly staff. Might be my best culinary experience in the Azores so far! But if you’ll excuse me, now I must go lay down. :D

Great experience every time we've gone here. Traditional meals of the island are excellent. The staff do speak English and are a happy bunch. Worth the drive. Reservations are recommended, because they do get busy.

This was by far the best traditional food we had on the island,, it’s a must visit, you won’t regret it! The service was absolutely fantastic, good recommendation for the food and wine.. desert was out of this world too! Overall this was one of the best dining experiences we had in a long time

This is a traditional style Portuguese restaurant. If you want a true Azorian experience it is worth looking into. It gets very busy so I recommend reservations. Ample portions with good service in a home setting.

Torresmos where the best we have had on the island, the linguica and morcela were also amazing. Hands down one of the best dining experiences you could ask for in a family style setting.

We planned a two-week Azores trip to include three days in Terceira. During my research and planning, I read this is one of the best restaurants to sample Alcatra. Moreover, I read that you can often walk in for lunch during the week, but dinner requires a reservation, and lunch on the weekend requires a reservation. In the weeks leading up to our vacation, we tried a couple times to make reservations for dinner using the email address found on their Facebook page, as they otherwise do not have a website. I did not receive a response; however, the afternoon that we checked into our hotel, reception was kind enough to phone the restaurant to get us a same-day reservation. Through that initiative we learned that Ti Choa is currently only offering reduced hours and closes at 4:00 p.m. As it was approaching 3:00 p.m. and nearly a half hour away, we hustled, and am I everglad we did! The restaurant is a charming Azorean house converted restaurant. The family was incredibly kind, and the food was amazing. Rather than providing a menu, the gentleman assisting us asked whether we came seeking a certain recommendation to which I said we wanted Alcatra. He offered it or an alternative: a meat sampler platter for two, €15 per person. We opted for the sampler which included several pork selections followed by alcatra. We also accepted the bread and cheese appetizer, two glasses of wine, a bottle of water, and we shared dessert recommended by who I assume was the son of the owner. Our meal totaled €43. I have no idea what wine we drank. I asked for their recommendation and after confirming I wanted red while my husband wanted white, we were each served a glass of incredible libation. One thing is for certain: the Portuguese are not stingy with their wine. There was limited outside seating but I assume it was full, as we were offered indoor seating after the girl seating us looked out the window then the doorway. Honestly, while it was a near perfect day outside, I enjoyed the charming and cozy atmosphere of the inside. We already have reservations at another restaurant for tomorrow night but we may return here for dinner on our last night depending on how our day works out. We started our vacation on São Miguel, but the welcome and hospitality we have received on Terceira has been far superior, and the folks at Ti Choa have been a huge part of that. Obrigado for dinner. An absolute delight from start to finish. We began with limpets – small, fresh shellfish bursting with ocean flavor, perfectly prepared and served with delicious bread. Hands down, the best we’ve ever had. For the main course, we had tuna – exceptionally flavorful, beautifully seasoned, and prepared with true respect for the ingredient. Easily the best tuna we’ve tasted on the island. My partner chose the octopus, which was tender, rich in flavor, and simply outstanding. The portions were generous, but we still couldn’t resist dessert – the chocolate cake was incredibly moist and melted in the mouth. A well-pulled espresso wrapped it all up perfectly. The recommended white wine paired beautifully with both main dishes, enhancing the experience without overpowering the food.

Hands down, this was the best meal I have had in my life. We came with a group of 12 people, and Roberto himself served us. We were served family style, with Roberto making recommendations based on what they were serving that night. For our appetizers, we had limpets, duck stew, tuna, octopus salad, and Terceira cheese with fig jam. Every single dish was outstanding. We convinced our picky friends to try everything, and they loved it — even my anti-seafood husband! The duck was particularly tender, and the octopus was cooked perfectly. Roberto recommended a red and a white wine for us, after asking for our price point, which was a thoughtful touch; both were a perfect match for the meal. For our entrées, we had ribeye, tuna with soy, ginger, and cilantro, local fresh-caught fish, and octopus. All were phenomenal; we especially enjoyed the rare-cooked tuna and the octopus. For dessert, we ordered one of each dessert that Roberto offered; a basque cheesecake, a lemon pie, an almond flour chocolate cake, and a cinnamon ice cream. Once again, all were fabulous; the cinnamon ice cream was the group favorite. All in all, what a meal! Service from Roberto felt welcoming and personal, the wines were wonderful, and the food was unreal. Whenever we come back to Terceira, we will return. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, a great dining experience did not happen for my wife and me. Perhaps, it was our fault for showing up without a reservation. But, we were not treated well, waiting for half an hour before being seated even though there were many open tables., which remained open during our dinner. Our waiter(perhaps the owner) was terrific and our meal was both good and not good. My wife’s fish was delicious but my tuna was overcooked after it was ordered rare. Then, we sat for over 20 minutes waiting for a check. Finally, we got up and walked to the bar. That’s when we received an apology and the check. Taberna Roberto could be amazing when it’s less busy, even though better than a quarter of the tables remained empty.

Nice interior. Finest cooking - first time we got a realle “rare” tuna fish on the Azores ! Great and almost unlimited wine list. Dishes made in the finest ways ans subtle , original flavors. Hard working staff. Great “patron” and cook who go the extra mile to get your belly happy … 🤩

If you are visiting Terceira ... definitely a place to visit. A (somehow) hidden gem. The owner is so service-oriented, explains the whole menu and the dishes of the day in all details, even from the fresh catches of the day you can choose your "own" fish to be grilled in the wood fired oven. The meals, including the starters and the wine have been so delicious... Thanks again for the hospitality (and calling back) Roberto ...we would have missed something very nice ... !!! An absolute gem in Terceira! Taberna Roberto offers a unique dining experience, with no fixed menu, ensuring every meal is crafted from the freshest fish and meat available that day. The charming touch of having the staff bring the day’s selection directly to your table allows you to personally choose your dish from the beautifully presented raw ingredients. We started with the appetisers, featuring duck and octopus - both outstanding, flavorful, and a perfect start to our meal. For the main course, we chose the lírio, a type of fish that was simply incredible. Cooked to absolute perfection, it was soft, tender, and deliciously seasoned, highlighting the freshness and quality of the fish. Every bite was an absolute delight. We ended the meal with dessert, a chocolate cake presented with a creative twist. While slightly different from the traditional, it was equally satisfying and enjoyable. Make sure to book ahead as this place fills up quickly, especially since they’re closed for holidays in August. Taberna Roberto is a must-visit dining spot when in Terceira - highly recommended!

So delicious, you will probably want to visit a second time. We were very hungry so we ordered the queijo fresco, chicken wings, a quail, the fried lulas, the picanha steak, the novilho de casa and the lulas grelhadas plus the amazing chocolate torte for dessert. Service was great, they were busy and ready to close but sat us anyways. The wine prices are not crazy compared to other restaurants in the area.

Excellent food, nice experience, colorful people, nice ☕ souvenirs, omnipresent owner, English spokers employees, terrace, always full, sometimes queue, very tasty white frizzante wine, fresh fish: boca negra, sword fish, moreis peixe, muscle, local lapas, squid, etc, in one word: Terceira spirit in everything... 😍 love it. Funny the reviews for this restaurant are 1 or 5 Stars. My experience here is a 5 star, I went with my gf without booking a table and they placed us anyway, food was very good (grilled squid in our case), place full of locals (always a good sign).

Excellent and fresh food, very good staff comprising Goncal, Rita, Fabio and their owner (an immaculately dressed Portuguese gentleman). Love the ambience and the dish of the day options. Always packed with people, book in advance as you might have to wait sometimes. All the locals eat here so that means that there is nothing that can go wrong. We as a family have eaten there twice in two days already and will go again. Absolutely recommended! BON APPETIT!

This place was suggested to us by a local and it def delivered😍 The food was great and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We ordered the steak in cream sauce and the quail for our mains and they were delicious. We finished our meal with the tart to share and it was a lovely way to end our meal. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely loved the chateaubriand: tender, perfectly cooked and served. It’s definitely worth ordering! If you’re visiting Terceira, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend.

Brilliant place with excellent dishes. We had the chateaubriand house special with banana pineapple and grapes. Great seasoning, friendly service and excellent value for money. It’s a must-visit when on Terceira.

The receptionist (Marcia) at the Terceira Mar Hotel recommended we go O Cachalote by Frank for dinner. She was kind enough to make reservations (highly recommended) for my wife and I. After a nice walk we arrived to what turned out to be one of the best dinner experiences we have ever had... Unpretentious and delicious! Frank kept us laughing and made sure our Estrella Galicia did not run dry. While we don't eat a lot of red meat having stake on a stone at Frank's place is a must. So glad we did. It was amazing on all levels. Seasoned to perfection and oh so tender. Plus you could cook it to your desired level doneness. When visiting Terceira your stay will not be complete without enjoying a meal at Frank's place.

Fabulous little place, family owned and operated apparently. Slightly away from the crowds of main streets. The steaks are really good, especially premium ones - tomahawk and chateaubriand. By using hot stones you can take a more leisure pace with your food, but it won't last long though - too good! Red wine selection is very short, but reputable wines are offered in several price ranges from 20 to 60 euro. We picked the expensive one and did not regret for a second

Really friendly server and nice atmosphere inside. Prices aren’t as high as you’d expect and the steak was delicious. The hors d'oeuvres our table got before our meal was also tasty! And the fried ice cream was also worth getting. I didn’t enjoy the fries that much but the steak and everything else more than made up for it The experience was worth visiting this place at least once while you’re here.

I think I had one of the best steaks of my life here, everything is very fresh, you can cook the meat on a lava stone to your taste. The experience was also quite unique, everything was delicious, the staff were incredibly nice. However, this kind of serving may not be for everyone, because you get an almost raw meat. There are other pre-cooked dishes, they are also very good, but this kind of steak is the speciality of the place, so it's really worth coming in for that! The price is also much cheaper on the island!

I can’t say enough about this restaurant and Frank. What an amazing experience from frank to the food. The whole experience is worth it. Ordered a few appetizers and wine, his recommendations are spot on, so listen to the professional. The steak was amazing and I couldn’t get enough. Served with potatoes but no need for them. The restaurant is nicely designed, living up to its name. Service was kind and prompt. My fish dish was very tasty, and my friend enjoyed their steak as well. I’m taking off one star for the presentation: either the plates should be smaller, or the portions more generous. The fish and steak looked a bit lonely and lost on such large plates.

Best place in our 2 weeks trip in Azores! The owner was very nice and professional - he recommended a fresh fish which was available today. Starters really good we had “trio” Dessert 🤤🤤🤤 brownie and passion fruit icecream with pineapple 🍍- sooo good ! The cherry on the top was a nice view of the Ocean 🌊 and an interior of the restaurant. We will comeback! Strongly recommend 🙂

Great local dining experience in a family setting restaurant. Small but varied food menu and a decent wine selections. The food is presented simply, but well prepared and seasoned. Very friendly and caring staff (family members) take care of floor and kitchen. Appropriately slow pace.

Great food with a nice mix of options for vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters alike. Reasonably priced in a great atmosphere. Wanted to eat there twice but couldn’t the second time because they were packed, reservation only - we got lucky to eat there the first time without a reservation!

Something seems to have gone very wrong with this place. I lived part-time on the island and I used to come here regularly. The food was reliably good and the staff were attentive and helpful. Today I came with a group of Portuguese companions and was served a chickpea curry that was clearly off (rotten), the along with three of the four other orders being different from what we asked for. All five dishes were served with a kind of mound of rice-based paste in place of rice (as the photo shows, none of us managed to eat it). We were told that this is just the unalterable way that their organic rice always turns out (besides not fitting with my memory at all, if true, they should obviously buy a different rice). The curry was replaced, without the slightest inquiry about my desires or for that matter the slightest hint of an apology (at any point), with another that we were told had been made in exactly the same way. It was no longer off but it was the blandest curry I've ever encountered in my life – I couldn't finish it even though I came in hungry. The communication from staff (and again, my companions are Portuguese and we all speak the language) was between silence and incomprehension at our obviously groundless complaints. This is especially sad given that finding *any* plant-based food here, let alone good plant-based food, remains difficult. We paid for everything and were offered no apology or compensation of any kind, nor was there the slightest sign of recognition of any of this. One of the worst restaurant experiences I can remember. I hope they figure things out and get back to their old form.

The Best place to eat organic food in Terceira. Amazing athmosphere and environement. Green views everywhere and very calm place. They also do a great job helping local organic farmers selling their products.

Lovely place to grab a healthy lunch right in the heart of the beautiful Jardim Duque da Terceira. The food they serve is biological and healthy. My boyfriend and I shared some rice balls (bolinhas de arroz) as an appetizer. My boyfriend had a simple tuna salad and I went for the pasta with vegetable meat balls. The food was fine, but not really memorable. We really enjoyed the peacefulness of this place though.

Phenomenal garden! Take a stroll, eat at the cafe, take a bunch of photos. I took my favorite photo of the Museum and St. Sebastian church from the garden. This place is gorgeous and beautifully maintained by talented gardeners. There are restrooms at the garden.

Very fresh and clean. All organic and tasty. Good variety of vegan food, especially for the islands. A little small portion of stroganoff and the dish of the day, which could have been spiced up a bit. But with a tasty rice pudding as dessert I was fulfilled. The woman running the show is not focused on service and it shows, but overall a lovely experience.

Beautiful view over the garden and clean facilities. Friendly personnel but as they are very few, everything takes way toooo long! We waited more than 40 Minutes from the order until we got the food. Unfortunately the food was then cold and very dry (subjective). Conclusion: Bring a lot of time and patience with you, otherwhise choose a different restaurant.

This is my favourite spot for lunch in Angra. The view into the palm trees is unbelievable and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The food, while quite simple, is delicious and really healthy - a welcome alternative to other places in town.

After spending time on the sister island of São Miguel and feeling completely deprived of any decent baked goods I was thrilled to find O Forno in Angra on Terceira Island. Try the tuna sandwich on onion bread, the Dona Amelia’s and any of their large assortment of pastries.

Great location just off the City Center, and there were many locals waiting in line as we approached. A great sign! The line moved quick, as the typical work ethic here is inspiring to say the least. Anyway, wonderful choices of the local sweets, but don't wait too late in the day, as the inventory sells quickly here. We loaded up, had a couple double espresso's and still kept it under 5 Euro's. A must stop for your sweet tooth, and your caffeine fix.

We tried both Dona Amelia and Caretas. The Dona Amelia served at our hotel was better and we had a much better Caretas at the restaurant across the street the night before. Not sure what the hype is about.

I had an excellent dining experience at O Chico, another fantastic family-owned gem known for its incredible seafood. The service here is impressively fast, and every dish served was exceptionally fresh and delicious. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming, run by a family whose warmth and friendliness enhance the overall atmosphere. Given its popularity, especially evident by the photos of famous visitors adorning the walls, I highly recommend booking ahead. Perfectly located for an evening meal, it’s ideal for enjoying a leisurely marine walk followed by a delightful ice cream afterward. Definitely a must-visit!

It looks like a family owned restaurant. The people were very friendly and the food was amazing. We went for dinner and we had the grilled limpets, the grilled squids and the grilled octopus. We also tried the house pudding which was amazing. The next day, we went for lunch and we had the Alcatra. This dish was exceptional… It was the best food we had in Angra, and we would highly recommend this place. Make sure to reserve a table for dinner because the place gets quite busy!

I went there for dinner around 8pm, no wait and good service. We had the soup of the day and then the seafood for two. It was so much we couldn’t finish it which was a pity since it was so tasty. Definitely recommend it!

We enjoyed some great and authentic food in this family run restaurant. Be warned, this restaurant can get very busy, so make sure you have a reservation. Service is very efficient and friendly, even though all the tables were fully occupied when we visited. We enjoyed some very good black pudding and a typical regional dish: alcatra, a meat stew served in a clay bowl with bread on the side. The food was great, but we had trouble finishing everything. The portions are really big, so make sure you are hungry when visiting O Chico. Staff speaks basic English.

This place is very special - both my husband and I had the cod, pudding for dessert as well as a bottle of wine. The cod was incredible as was the pudding. Overall the meal only cost 45 euros which for the portions and quality of the meal, was incredibly worthwhile. Everyone working there was incredibly friendly and efficient. If you want to eat here, make a reservation or come when it opens and you may get a table. We tried three times and was turned down twice (they don't waitlist, if you show up and there is a table, you get to stay. Otherwise you will get turned away). While we were there, I saw 5-6 groups get turned away. Four groups got lucky because a reservation for a group of 10 didn't show up and they were able to get in at the right time.

Wonderful restaurant! Very typical and traditional. As I Brazilian I didn’t think I was going to be impressed by the steak, but I was wrong! I had the House Steak (10 eur) it was delicious. Big portion, sadly couldn’t finish. My husband had the Alcatra Regional (Regional meat) and the texture was to die for! Totally recommend it! Great value for a fantastic food!❤️

This is so far the best restaurant in Hangra. Delicious and traditional food, definitely try the limpets and cod fish. The wine is delicious too!! Make sure to stop by and reserve your table at least one day in advance as the place gets very busy. A must to visit!

We first saw the restaurant at night and it had a welcoming number of people. We decided that it was going to be added to our list for f places to try and were grateful that we did. Fantastic food, company and service! Our waitress was incredibly welcoming - speaking Portuguese, English and then landing on French! From Canada ❤️ There was a variety of food for all types of foodies and it was deeeeeeelicious and we enjoyed everything including the wonderful view! A hidden gem!

This is a lovely place - so nice that we went every day of our vacation in Angra. They open for food at 14:00, a time when just about every other place closes...so it's wonderful for afternoon snacks and cocktails. Perched on the hillside, it offers an excellent view of the sea and islands, and is great for outdoor seating (the inside decor is snazzy too!). The caipirinha cocktails are great -- and the restaurant uses a special ice in them that keeps the drinks cold and delicious. We loved their fish and chips (locally sourced), shrimp skewers, and vegetarian feijoada. The best part is the ultra-friendly service. You feel that you are meeting long lost friends, who just happen to be serving you with superior service. Pet friendly.

Such a great reasturant. Gorgeous views, great food and the owners, Claire & Alex are so sweet and passionate about this reasturant. Clair took the time to read the menu to us and explain the food as we do not speak Portuguese. I couldn't say enough good things about this establishment!

Very nice place with an amazing view. Good food: we enjoyed very much the lulas and the vegetable skewers, the shrimp skewers (like the beef) were a overcooked for us. Above all, a very welcoming service, always ready to help and find a solution despite we haven’t booked. We came twice. A place we recommend 200%.

Finger food. They serve no proper meal but instead just snacks and finger food. The food is okay but much more expensive than other restaurants. The menu is not translated in English even though it's clearly targeted at tourists. The snacks are not in any way typical of the Azores Island. Also it was cold inside the restaurant because the doors were open. I don't recommend going there for food if you value a proper meal. The location is nice for a drink though but more on the expensive side.

Looks welcoming from outside, beautiful view. Inside chilly and windy. A draught impedes your feeling comfortable. No menu in English. The different courses to share tasted all the same. This place is a finger food place. The green salad comes with a sugary vinaigrette like in the States. The rice as a side dish costs 3 Euros. No flavour at all. The fries are overcooked and greasy. No atmosphere, the music is too loud. The price paid for everything was exaggerated. Overall not to recommend for a refined dining experience . Not worth it at all.

The restaurant/cafe/resto has a nice terrace and well-balanced jazzy music inside, though the atmosphere could benefit from warmer lighting. The furniture in the back dining room feels outdated and less comfortable. Our group of five enjoyed the entrees, which were good, but the service was just okay, with repeated mistakes.

Amongst the restaurants we visited on Terceira, this was our favorite one. We had meat, fish and a vegan dish as well as desserts and each one of them was excellent. The service is also very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant! We can only recommend this place :)

Stumbled upon this little gem, looks fancy & expensive from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised by the owners enthusiasm, the great win & the delicious meal. The "forkbeard" fish was phenomenal. Definitely recommend!!

This unassuming restaurant tucked on a side street in Angra is a gem! But, make the effort to find it and you won’t be disappointed. The risotto with fava, hints of mint and herbs was so delicious in its subtle blend of flavors. The linguine with prosciutto came with a small pitcher to pour the outstanding truffle cream sauce yourself over the fresh cooked pasta which added to the dining experience. The Santa Maria tomato sauce on the perfectly cooked calamari was some of the best red sauce from fresh ingredients I had ever tasted (and I make my own with our garden tomatoes so I know my tomato sauce). The wait staff is personable and attentive. We’ve eaten in restaurants around the world, this one surprised us all with how truly enjoyable everything was. Bravo and Encore!

While we didn't have many noteworthy dining experiences in Terceira, Mercatto di Osteria stood out with a couple of delicious dishes and the best service we encountered on the island. Although our starter and my spouse's entrée were just fine, I thoroughly enjoyed my risotto with fava and the tiramisu was excellent. I'd visit again if I'm ever back in Terceira.

The restaurant offers a very welcoming atmosphere with seating available both indoors and outdoors. Service is excellent attentive, professional, and friendly at all times. The food is outstanding, whether it’s starters, main courses, or desserts, and the drinks are equally enjoyable. Even when the restaurant is busy, the food arrives quickly and is served perfectly warm. Since it is often well visited, making a reservation is highly recommended.

My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant evening and a very good dinner at Mercatto di Osteria. Excellent service and good dishes made for a wonderful dining experience.

Best restaurant in our 3wks trip in the Azures island. Cocktail was good. The tuna fish was perfectly done. The risotto was tasteful and the tiramisu was delicate. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back due to very few options to vegetarians (the only down side in this restaurant)

This restaurant is overall quite family style. Karla was communicating. We ordered veggie soup, squids and beef Alcatra. The veal chap and squids were both well cooked and tasted delicious. The beef Alcatra came in very generous size but somehow tasted very sour. When my friend asked why the beef Alcatra tasted so sour, the lady chef said she put vinegar (wasn’t quite sure if that’s her meaning because she spoke Portuguese), but when we Karla she said it’s cooked with wine, no vinegar. My friend was really worried that the beef already went bad. Later when I looked back at my picture of the beef, it was covered by all the bubbles, I realized it should have gone bad or at least not fresh any more at the end of the day. Also, when we went to eat at other restaurants, we asked if beef Alcatra was cooked with some vinegar, the answer was NEVER! Turned out we had half of the beef leftover. Later when Karla was not there, the chef came just took away our leftovers without even asking, with an attitude. She seemed so upset because we asked Karla about the sourness problem. Anyway, if you decide to eat here, I would suggest to skip the Alcatra dish.

I feel bad cuz the staff was wonderful but this was the only bad meal I had in Terceira. The fish was sold out ; The beef alcatra tasted sour like some spoiled food. It’s said it was because of the red wine. Who can tell me is it true? We left more than half beef Alcatra uneaten, worrying about food safety.

When the locals are eating there...you know you've arrived at the right place. Our bar keep at the Captain's Table restaurant frequented the place often...as did we. We heard about the chef/owner singing as she cooks. We read about how she'll prepare your meal as if she was your own mother and then pop out from behind the kitchen and check on you and your own happiness! All true...even the home cooked taste. We had the soup of the day, a pork sandwich and Cod cakes with rice and salad. All were tasty, hot and fresh. The two Super Bocks, cold! And how about that location huh? Nothing better than enjoying your meal to the sounds of church bells and heels clicking on cobblestone! We dined there 3 times for lunch during our weeks stay. It's right next to the City Center and easily walked to. A must stop for lunch, and the view...even with all the smokers dining out there with you!

Very friendly and welcoming staff serving good range of food including typical Portuguese dishes in a relaxing alfresco pavement setting. Chourico was served flaming - always a surprise, seafood pasta was tooo big to finish, bitoque was delicious (and enough food for 2). Price was reasonable and overall a great experience. Looking forward to coming back next year.

It is a hidden gem that we found on our way back from the hike to Monte Brasil. Delicious alcatra fish, made with fresh ingredients. Good local wines and cheese as well. Staff very accommodating. Very good service.

Good food and great service! The staff were very friendly and helpful in giving suggestions. I ordered the lapas, salted shrimp, and fish tempura. I very much enjoyed the tempura fish and the shrimp.

Truly Disappointing – Poor Service, Long Waits, and a Foreign Object in My Food I came to Taberna do Teatro for a casual evening of tapas and wine, but the experience was frustrating from start to finish. When I arrived, I was rudely told to move from the outdoor patio — no greeting, just an abrupt instruction. Oddly, there was another table of the same size available and plenty of open seating inside, but the waiter said he needed it “for four people”. Inside, I waited nearly 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and seated, and 20 more minutes before anyone came to take my order. When the waitress finally arrived, she didn’t even say hello — just asked flatly if I was ready to order. The overall vibe felt rushed, inattentive, and cold. Things got worse from there. A stressed busboy dropped the wrong dish at my table, and when my food did arrive, it was deeply underwhelming. The beef tartare was mediocre, and the Azorean sausage with fries and egg had almost no sausage — just a few crumbles. To top it all off, I found a piece of plastic in it, which was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. The restaurant is clearly understaffed, and the team is overwhelmed. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place was a complete letdown. Between the poor service, long waits, and unsanitary food, I would strongly recommend avoiding Taberna do Teatro. There are far better places to eat on the island.

It's sort of a tapas vibe, with smallish plates. We shared the combo deal, which was great value, and got a good variety of dishes. Overall, the food was excellent. Service was adequate, if nothing special. A great way to sample a ton of different dishes.

The food was very good, we enjoyed it. Service was ok but the restaurant was very busy and noisy, so if you are looking for more calm place to eat, this is probably not a good choice.

The limpets were fresh in a flavorful garlic sauce. Highly recommend to try this local delicacy. Also had the octopus which was a little mushy which meant it wasn’t that fresh or perhaps overcooked which is too bad because the sides were delicious (salad and potatoes) and would have gone well with a fresh octopus. And then it would have gotten 5*’s.

Had a delicious fish soup, made with locally sourced tuna. Then a great sword fish steak greatly seasoned on a bed of local sweet potato. Just what we were looking for! One of the must go in Angra!

We where a group of 6 and we had a really great lunch at A Barrica. The waitress was atentive and familiar. The portions have a really good price to amount ratio and meals where all tasty. I had the tuna sandwitch and it was really impressive, probably the best tuna I've had.

I was so happy to find a restaurant with salad on the menu! They also had chicken. It was delicious. My friend had the rump roast served with sweet bread. Prices are reasonable. There were locals dining here. They have a DJ on Saturday nights.

Good food at a reasonable price, although slightly pricy for the area. The portions were reasonable (read: small for an American) but the food was well cooked and well seasoned. Limpets were great; alcatra sandwich was both good to try and good for a solo traveler, because most alcatra feeds 2-4 people.

Alcatra sandwich to die for! So much so that I ordered and wolfed down a second one. Very highly recommended. Shame that I’m leaving the island tonight as I’m sure that the proper Alcatra pot would surely be amazing as well.

I had a wonderful experience at Adega São Mateus, a charming and cozy family-owned restaurant in Terceira, Azores. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed by the incredibly friendly staff, embodying the warmth and hospitality that Terceira is known for. Although the food does take a bit longer to arrive, every dish that reached our table was worth the wait. The flavors were truly delicious and comforting. If you’re looking for authentic local cuisine served with a generous helping of kindness, this is definitely the place to visit. Highly recommended!

We ordered two times the grilled godfish and two other dishes. After more then an hour waiting for our food, we got a total different fish. We said this was not what we ordered but got the answer it is godfish, just cooked different. No problem when a mistake is made, big problem when you try to mislead your clients. After some discussion the chef admitted that he had made a mistake and the two wrong dishes did not have to be paid for. Too bad it could not be solved immediately. Customer service and service a big zero.

We came in for a late lunch on Monday. The place is small, very crowded and loud. We asked for Cracas, which took over 40 minutes to get to us and weren't fresh at all. The main dishes we had were a shrimp omelette (too salty) and a bife panado, still watery from being frozen. Possibly the worst restaurant experience we've had in Terceira, with the absolute worst service. No idea where the 4,5 stars are coming from.

We had the couvert with local snacks (super tasty!), the salad, the steak and the octopus stew. We sat outside and had a view over the garden and the ocean. The service was just excellent. The meal and the atmosphere was unreal and amazing. Rustic but in the BEST way possible. The beef stew melted in your mouth. Paul the server was great! Very fun, full of entertainment.

We met the owner by the coast, and the interaction felt quite awkward. He repeatedly emphasized that he didn't want to sell us his food — but the way he said it came across like he very much did. The pricing was also unreasonable: €3.30 for a small bottle of Super Bock, which is more than double the usual price in the area. Overall, the atmosphere and experience felt uncomfortable and overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The best meal we ate on the island. The appetizers were unique and delicious, the vegetable soup may be the best soup I’ve ever eaten, and the beef Alcatraz was exquisite. A must visit during any stay on Terceira!

This is a large communal room where they can set up tables for 2 or for large groups. The menu is plentiful and not expensive compared to what is around. We had soup, bolinhas, queijo fresco with malagueta pepper, octopus and Kansas steak with fries and salad, with maracujá pudding for dessert. So delicious, well worth the can ride from Centro.

The food was excellent. We ordered the fillet mignon skewers. The meat was cooked perfectly to our liking. The food was brought to our table hot and within an appropriate time. Where it went wrong was the service. After our food was placed on our table no one came to check on us, even after we had long finished and tried to wave one of the servers over to no avail. We finally had to get up and go to the reception desk to pay. So many servers around us and no one took responsibility for the service at our table. Very disappointing!!!

We had a 5 course tasting menu - 2 appetizers, a fish course, meat course and dessert. Everything was very tasty and well-presented. Service was also excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We went for breakfast at the cafeteria (down stair) that was great then was informed of the dinner (upstair). Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Services were pleasant and servers do speak English well. We had fish and steak which are decent portion. In fact it was too much that we couldn’t even eat desserts. Highly recommend this restaurant. If I am in-town, I world come back again. They only open on certain days of the week and need reservations.

The Google listing is a bit confusing because there is a more casual Snack bar downstairs and a fancier restaurant upstairs. We went to the restaurant. It's quiet but really good, probably the best food we had all week in Angra. Ended up going twice. The fish of the day was brilliant both times, and the beef was really good. Good wines. Attentive staff.

We went upstairs to the restaurant rather than the snack area. Empty - on a Friday night. The locals don't eat here for a reason. The food was very poor. We had two starters, the shrimps were nice, but the smoked sausage was horrible, we keft most of it. The mains were also poor, the prawns and steak were OK, but the pork was salty, the chips were chewy, the Octopus was burnt. It's expensive, you expect good food at that price. Maybe the snack bar downstairs is better.

Cheap and Affordable Sandwiches near an intersection. A little far away from Angra but close to schools. The staff are very friendly and nice. The only bad thing is that they put VERY FEW vegetables in the Subs.

Best sandwich shop in the Azores, only Subway in Terceira. The shop is very clean and the staff friendly, but no one spoke English, but we managed with a bit of hand gestures 😆 4.25 Euros for a 6 inch sandwich

From the very beginning the service was very friendly attentive and funny (I assume he was the owner). We ordered limpets (with bread) as a starter and fish of the day (some orange one:)) and Alcatra (Terceira national dish) as the main course. As a dessert was chocolate mousse. Food was very delicious and the recommended white wine was a good match for the fish. I really recommend visiting this restaurant.

Really wanted to like it here and the starters and chicken dish were fab. The pizza however was a disappointment. Looked fab on arrival if not a bit on the thick side. Unfortunately this was as good as it got. The toppings were fine. A bit heavy on the cheese but i normally order extra so this was fine for me. The problem was with the pizza base. It was crispy on the bottom but raw in the middle. Told the waiter and credit where its due he offered to put it back in the oven with the explanation of most people prefer their pizza base medium. Never heard of a medium cooked pizza base before. Thought dough was either baked or not and this was not. But I can tell you one thing about medium cooked pizza dough..... it tastes awful.

Food was very good here, there was a big group of people there at the same time so we had to wait a bit but it was understandable. But once we order food came quick and hot and very tasty.

We had an amazing night being the last night in the Azores. The pizza was among the best I’ve had, and I tried something I’ve never had before called limpets. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves and the wait service was excellent.

Delicious food, we had the garlic bread, clams, seafood rice seafood pasta very yummy! They are definitely understaffed but that’s honestly what we found for all restaurants here. The 2 front of the house servers were very friendly, and had good English.

Food is good, not great. The seafood soup is average, octopus texture isn’t that good. Squid and shrimp are really good, limpets are OK。

If you go on a Friday do the buffet 😋 Its absolutely delicious. Be sure to make a reservation .We were a party of 13 and we enjoyed ourselves. They bring you so many different cuts of meat. They bring to the table fried banana and French fries. Then you have the salad bar. It was our first time and we loved it. The servers were all patient and friendly! I highly recommend 😃

Great option for all you can eat, in a reasonable price, just make sure you tell them one day in advance that you want the all you can eat option. Check the opening hours before you come. An okay dining option with decent food and a casual atmosphere. Service was average, and the menu offered basic choices. Not outstanding but satisfactory for a quick meal or casual dining. If you find something else, skip this option, not that worth it

When I go on vacation specially to Portugal, I love eating fresh fish and seafood! This restaurant is absolutely the best seafood restaurant I've ever been too. They have amazing lobster, Octapus cooked in many different ways, squid and the list goes on. Amazing wines and desserts. Service exceeded my expectations each time. In 4 weeks I went to this restaurant 7 times and each time I was amazed with the 5* quality!

We were there every day in our staying at Monte Brasil Hotel! The food is brilliant and good price! The staff were always friendly and polite. I didn’t take pictures of my favourite meal (the Bife Cremoso was my 10/10) but this squid dish was brilliant! In the bakery side, everything was amazing but the Pudim got into my heart! 😍 well done guys

Nice clean and organized spot with very helpful respectful and responsive staff. I felt welcomed with I stepped in from the rain to a warm green tea and a massive brownie. Came back for dinner and ordered a burger with fries, they were great.

The burgers were really good! Perfectly cooked and juicy. But it was the service that made us want to come back, especially Juliana! She makes you feel so special, like you immediately have a friend in the city. Also shout out to their pastel de nata, lovely rich texture and flakey crust.

Guardanapo was just averate, probably prepared the day before since It was definitely dry on the edges. One member of the staff was friendly and nice (though she did not speak english, she speaked the universal language of kindness), another was cold as ice and even gave me the impression she was about to headbutt me

All the food tasted amazing 😋, great presentation 😍and priced appropriately🤩. The waiter spoke enough English and was very supportive and patient with the English speakers in our group. The place was not very busy and unfortunately the service was ridiculously slow. Appears they may need more staff or perhaps a better system in place. The food was so good we didn't complain, and it could have simply been someone called out sick. Our late lunch for 4 was 2 hours 26 mins and if this typical, not a good place to eat if you are in a rush. I will come back again, however if the service duration is the same, that will be my last time. Even for a social get together for 4 it's simply too long to have a meal.

Excellent lunch with delicious food and perfect service. We tried the Marinated Fish with Honey and Ginger, the Fried Squid with Lemon Mayonaise, Alheira with Apples (great dish!) and finally, the Octopus. All were so good! And, the kitchen was so nice to split the Octopus plate for us. It might be the best Octopus I've ever had! Server suggested an excellent white to go with the meal and it worked with every plate. Recommended 100%

All around top notch experience - wonderful staff, nice chic decor and delicious food! We loved everything we ordered: pate, beef tartare, squid frites and crème bulee. The tartare seems to be not fully raw like your typical tartare, but Azores beef really has its own charm! Squid frites are addictive, batter is crispy and not oily; the squid is tender and perfectly cooked.

It is a Chef's restaurant, food was great, but the service was a bit slow. The staff was welcoming, and the atmosphere was nice. I have eaten there the most perfectly cooked fish ever. And If you like caramel don't miss the cheesecake with the salted caramel topping for dessert.

Very bad service in a very nice restaurant. Two hours and half for a basically dinner. The place is new and fresh but the organisation of service is a chaotic and you wait wait for all, also for a basket of bread. The food was delicious but that is not enough for come back next time.

Great meal. The fish soup was really fresh and the octopus stew with sweet potato was a great mix. I have to say the sweet potato is probably one of the best I had. For dessert the cheese cake with salted caramel was delicious. Thanks for being our waiter, Carlos, and for your suggestions.

We should have known something was off when the guy who took our order saw the bread we had been given, chastised the waitress and sent the basket back to the kitchen for something fresh. Sadly we only read the review by Leandro Antunes after eating at this restaurant. It is astonishing that an island populated with so many cows should have a restaurant serving veal steak which can only be cut with the sharpest of serrated knives - my teeth and jaws were unable to chew the meat into anything smaller. Both of us had to leave more than half our steak uneaten. The ham and cheese were straight from the packet, processed snack food. At least the rice was edible and the chips too otherwise we would have left hungry. We have read wonderful reviews about the famous squid so we hope this compensates in some way for the dismal quality of the meat dishes on offer.

As with other tourist reviewers, we were not welcomed and felt tension from the moment we walked in. The waiter rolled his eyes when we spoke English and told someone else to help us. The restaurant was nearly empty but they sat us a a small table in the hall by the bathrooms. We were not offered bread like others were and the food was average. The waiter who spoke English and helped us was the only nice person in the restaurant. We came to visit Santa Barbara because my husband’s father grew up here but our first meal was not a good experience. Unfortunately this restaurant lacks the hospitality we received in Lisboa and Porto and I would steer clear if you are not a local.

After a three-week stay on different islands of the Azores, we came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening at 7 pm. The food was excellent – large portions and great value for money. The location is beautiful with a wonderful view of the harbor. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Later in the evening the restaurant filled up quickly, and at that point it seemed a bit understaffed – we had to wait a little longer for our last drink. Based on our experience, the service really depends on how busy it is, but overall we felt well taken care of. We truly enjoyed our evening and would happily come back

Service was average. No follow up regarding if we need anything. Bread and cheese appetizers very good and fresh. Wife had Lipids grilled and she liked them we had fish of day a white fish on screwers with squid and shrimp(see pict). Our Other group members had Carne Alcarta. All very bland, poor seasoning, forgot rice for alcarta, shrimp not deveined. Over all poor all the way through. We were first to get here at noon and food arrived at 115 pm. Do not recommend this place!

DO NOT COME HERE. Please read this. The service is HORRIBLE and the servers are rude. The empty seats are always an indication of how poor a restaurant is and I should’ve known better. The bread came out fairly quickly in a basket covered in cloth...but the bread was cold and dry so I don’t get why it was even covered in the first place. It didn’t even come with butter or anything else. The food is grossly overpriced for the quality. The Alcatra was alright but super salty. Oh on top of that, we were actually charged for the bread. Wait what? So they bring the bread (as most restaurants do) without us even asking for it, and then not tell us that we get charged for it? Wait a sec, that’s not even the best part...they charged us for TAP WATER! Yes, water from the sink. Need I say more? This business is dishonest and shady. Save yourself the trouble and money! A lovely and cozy place; Food looks and tastes amazing (the alcatra is so good), if you are a wine lover, try the red wine from the house, its amazing; Staff is full of sympathy and empathy, one of the best places around for sure! We were visiting from US and wanted some authentic Azorean food and we were not disappointed. My grandfather, who hasn't been back since he was a child and never praises food, loved this place so much he said the sopas was almost as good as grandma's. The service was great and the wine kept coming. The alcatra was rich and flavorful. I will be coming back here at some point.

Went because of the reviews but I'm writing this for the food (polvo na telha and alcatra), one of the best dishes I tried on the island if not the best. The environment and the treatment was perfect. Super quality on the food and the price super affordable. Totally recommend and underrated restaurant. Should be 5*

This is a beautiful restaurant in a small quaint town. We went for lunch and there was only one other table occupied. We ordered a carafe of house wine and three appetizers. We had lapas (limpets) and fava beans and smoked grilled chirizo. All were outstanding. The server also offered us a large pot of vegetable soup, whîch was delicious. Much to our surprise the soup was complementary! We had plenty of food for a great lunch, and the entire check was well under 30 Euros. If we ever make it back to Terceira, we will be sure to go to this place again.

Quiet spot next to the church in San Sebastiao. A nice family run restaurant. The soup provided as part of the main course is extremely delicious. We were a party of 9 and the large bowl they brought held enough soup for everyone to have second servings and there was still a bit left. And believe me, you will want to have seconds! Portions are generous for the main dishes. The Alcatra offers an especially large serving, enough for 2. The Regional beef steak with egg was tender and tasty. The traditional cod fish (bacalhau) dish with potatoes, peppers and onion was excellent. Highly recommended.

Amazing, delicious, professional, incredible , bountiful fantastic -went with friends that had moved to Terciara and we went to this wonderful Traditional restaurant on a Sunday -along with local families! We ate great entradas- bread( pão) , fried pork skins, fava beans in garlic and onion! The Sunday meal was -sopa do Espírito Santo, cozido and alcatra -ending with like my grandma made, rice pudding -we will never forget this meal and the kindness of the servers -I think anyone that likes good food will be wowed-enjoy

A very original place to go wine & dine. A mixture of modern with rustic space and ambiance. From the decoration, design, music and the food is to die for! Big, yummy, colourful portions. A nice outdoor patio aswell, friendly cats and nature all around 5/5

Every year we go to the 'Terceira' and usually spend time at the terrace in the "praça velha", but this year, we noticed that unlike the past two years, João is no longer there. He was the one who brought the terrace to life — friendly, playful, and above all, an excellent young man and a great waiter. We always ordered our gin with him because he would prepare it right at the table on the tray. This year, without him, the terrace has lost its magic. The service is no longer the same; you can tell there's no longer any passion in what they do, not to mention the constant blunders one after another.

Food is mediocre—edible but not worth it. You’re better off grabbing a drink outside in the square, which is far nicer than eating here. The real problem is the pastry section. One staff member was unbelievably rude: slammed the plate down, mumbled when I asked for it to go, then laughed when I paid by card. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. The owner should seriously rethink keeping employees like that. I will never come back and strongly recommend others walk a little further—you’ll find much better food and service elsewhere.

Just keep walking and pass on We went to the outside kiosque on Plaça Velha to have a beer before our lunch. As adverside on thé kiosque, we ordered some nachos to go with our drinks. They Made us pay 8€ for theese old and dusty chips. Once this unjustified Turist fee ad been applied we asked the waiters and we were treated prête rudely. Just go somewhere else, there are plenty of other better adresses to enjoy

The food and service here is amazing. Wonderful place to look at the city of Angra while sitting on the upstairs patio outside. The staff has always been exceptional. Very accommodating to any need you have. The vanilla ice cream for dessert is a must!

Wanted to eat there after reading the reviews, but it's closed. Not sure if it's only open seasonally or if closure is permanent.

This restaurant is close to the marina right by the docks. The seafood is fresh and varied. It is prepared such that all the dishes are very tasty. The restaurant has a good selection of Portuguese wines from several areas of the mainland and also the Azures. The lunch and dinner are served on the upper level that has wonderful views of the historic Misericordia church, the town center and also the bay. The service is prompt and excellent. The pub downstairs is popular, gets good amount of traffic during certain hours. Both the pub and the restaurant are a wonderful choice for a relaxed meal or drink.

11 people in our group. No gin and tonic but on menu. Ordered 2 order of sushi for myself never got it no matter who we asked for they said it’s coming.. 2 small bottles of gas water was my dinner. 1st time last time. Bonus review after first round of sushi they will drag out the time for it to come and less portions so the costumers digest . Same had high hope.

Love this spot! It's open late which comes in handy. Service is excellent. The food is great. Prices are reasonable. The octopus dinner was FABULOUS! So tender and flavorful. I was really surprised by how amazing it was. Their dona Amelia cake is different than most spots and I really loved it. It's less moist and less sweet which I appreciated. Really nice with espresso. We ate here 3 times over 2 weeks. I wouldn't recommend the steak, it wasn't our favorite. Not bad, just not as good as some other spots.

They should revise "Telha de espadarte": is a fish soup with cream sauce but contains pieces of pork lard, they say "to give flavor", but it's totally wrong and disgusting... we ate it just because we were hungry ... Morover: the service was too slow (more than 1 hour to be served) and the air conditioning too low and unnecessary for the external temperature.

Came in for takeout however diner looked simple n very authentic Portuguese style simplicity, server was very friendly although didn't know English but Google translate is my buddy here as it's not so touristic therfore many staff wouldn't know English which is normal. Server was very friendly n really helped me out with selecting a pizza n very quick service..pizza was delicious n size very reasonable for 1 person had the small size . Price is average my pizza cost 12 euros .good tasting fresh veggies in pizza. Highly recommend 👌

This was one of the worst experiences on the whole island. No one came to our table we had to go order by ourselfs at the kitchen. We waited 40 mins for our food, the pizza was most likely microwaved and the burger looked stepped on and burger paty was half the size of the bread. Overall terrible experience. The only good thing about the restaurant was the price.

Pizza 3 cheese (medium size 21,19€) + cheese sticks (12,03€!!!!). Take away. Totally overpriced.

For main, we had the seafood platter which was a seafood bread rissotto. Finished with some lemon gellato Service: Excellent. The owner personally drove us to and from the restaurant. We had dinner at Moshi Moshi and it was one of the best sushi dinners I’ve ever had. We are from NY and are used to top quality sushi and we were not disappointed! Chef Antonio heard we were from NY and came to our table to introduce himself as he spent time in NY working at top restaurants after he finished at the Culinary Institute of America. We were lucky enough to stumble across Moshi Moshi during our time in Terceira and highly recommend it to anyone looking for top quality sushi, in a fun/hip environment at a very affordable price.

So good! Absolutely delicious, very friendly people, and wonderful service. We also had a full vegan platter of mixed types of sushi, which was excellent! Highly recommended. The strawberry topped sushi was a revelation! We recommend going for the sushi platters selected by the chef!

Fantastic sushi and very friendly staff. The music was a personal touch that I shared, as well as the vegetarian options. I was able to have my meat and my wife her vegetarian with no issues. To top it all off the mango mousse blew us away. Wish we could visit every week!

Definitely my favourite place to eat on the whole island and not only! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! Yesterday we had miso soups and veggie sushi sets and there were very delicious. Today we decided to have dinner here again, as we struggle a bit to find vegan/vegetarian options on the island. We made the same order as yesterday and we the veggie sushi set was a bit modified but we found it very good that it wasn’t completely the same as yesterday. We’d definitely recommend this place!

Really tasty sushi, lovely presentation, a lot of attention to combining tastes and decoration. We had takeaway Moshi Party plate, with 52 pieces of traditional and grilled sushi pieces and 8 pieces sashimi. A lot of salmon, also other fish, but no tuna. All fresh and amazingly tasty. We did however had some difficulties before we managed to place the order, as we could not reach the restaurant via phone and also found various information regarding opening times. The confusion seems to have been due to the existence of two restaurants with Moshi Moshi in their name here in Angra. This one is Moshi Moshi Asiatico. We finally sucesfully placed our order in person in the evening during the opening time, for two days in advance. They were very professional and kind and upon pick up everything was as it should be. We had a great sushi feast on the balcony of our hotel, and would gladly repeat the experience or even book a table, now that we know how and when to reach them. The inside of the restaurant is small but has a very pleasant atmosphere and also their terrace looks very inviting. This time we ran out of days on Terceira to do that but will surely have this lovely delicious place in mind if we ever return!

During our vacation we visited two times as one was not enough. Perfect tuna steak, flavourful ceviche took a place in our hearts! Service was on top. Unfortunately we were not able to try the famous cake, as the lady who keeps the recipe was on vacation. Advice : you must reserve in advance, call and reserve you will be happy for your decision!

This cozy spot is an absolute gem, with fabulous food, attentive service, and a calm relaxing vibe. We were able to get a table without reservations in mid-week off-season, (March) and were so surprised it wasn’t more crowded. People, you are missing out! We enjoyed a simply unbelievable tuna ceviche, followed by stunning seared tuna and swordfish dishes. The co-owner, Beto, was a gracious and entertaining host, offering great suggestions and guidance on the menu and wine options. We had a marvelous local Pico white that Beto had aptly picked, along with a pair of tawny ports after we had enjoyed a local dessert cake. The menu is brief but with a lot of variety, and the preparation and presentations are stellar. Kudos to the chef, who is also Beto’s partner in this enterprise. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a simply amazing meal in this unassuming restaurant.

Delicious food. We had ceviche and octopus as starters, then swordfish and tuna. Everything was great. It was the best tuna during my stay on Azores. Recommended wine was also very good. The staff were very friendly. I recommend to book a table in advance.

Loved this restaurant! We came for dinner after a 7 mile hike and were starving - everything was amazing! Our best dishes were the desert (careta), the sword fish, and the mixed cheese board with bread as well as the morcela croquette. Definitely recommend for a great cozy vibe and some fabulous wine.

We had an amazing experience from start to finish, this is a perfect spot to try traditional azorean dishes in a modern settting. Very hospitable restaurant. Food quality is great. Delicious options and local beer. They really have an amazing local beer selection. Location is also by the ocean which provides great views, especially if you sit on the patio. Overall I definitely recommend it.

On the "restaurant row" of the town, this accessible location minutes from city center offers variety of local food fare. It also offers wider variety of beers. Particularly historical / story relevant ones. We attended in your group of 15. The team was quite busy but friendly. Would definitely return to explore full menu. The chicken and frites were a safe but tasty offering.

Very nice restaurant. The fish was excellent - sword fish with sweet potato and salad and tuna fish with potatoes and veg. Plentiful without bein excessive. Nice to have a real ale option here, but it's more of a foodie place than a beer stop. A mid range, mid price option, popular choice. All very clean, perhaps not achieving the "wow" or beyond expectation, but really really good.

This is a new place, opened in summer 2024. Tasty and beautiful meals. I liked the steaks and seafood mix with rice (moqueca). Also, great local beer selection. The staff is the absolute best - so nice and attentive! Designed around Japanese cedar (growing locally) and cork trees (see the picture of the cork ceiling). Note: quite busy in the evening.

Absolutely amazing! A must stop when in Tercería. We popped by for lunch and had the fish of the day which was the sword fish, best sword fish I’ve ever had! We also tried the mushroom tagliatelle, the bread, the cheese, everything was fabulous!

Very nice restaurant in the heart of the city. My son took meat and it was exceptional, i took some fish and also very good. My wife ate the squids and honestly they were not at the same level of the other dishes. Staff nice, local extremely busy (always a good sign).

I’ll start by setting expectations: this is a US inspired restaurant, with dishes and drinks similar to what you might find in the US. But you’re still on a small island in Europe. Keep this in mind. I was reading some of the reviews talking about service and selection, etc. Don’t confuse the Azores with the US. It’s a much smaller working age population and they have a vastly more relaxed culture. As travelers or visitors we need to be respectful of local customs and service capacity and also local food/drink resources. Ok, that all said, this restaurant is part of a bigger family owned establishment. It’s all focused on creating a fun, relaxing and welcoming environment. You go here to enjoy time with friends and family and maybe try a new twist on a familiar (American) dish. It’s good for people who are not familiar with Portuguese cuisine and want something they know. Menus are in both English and Portuguese and they will help accommodate food sensitivities, like my gluten allergy. The food quality will depend on your specific likes/dislikes and again, the available food sources. I thought my food was great. But I also think if you’re in the Azores, then go have some local seafood if you want the freshest most authentic experience. But you cannot beat the fun and relaxing experience you’ll get here. The best part is the garden with music in the back. If you’re in a hurry, try some of the food shacks peppered around the city. Come here to sit a bit!

I can not compare the food to other restaurants because I never eat that kind of food before. I had three different meals. The Steal Fajita was ok, the meat could be better, but the rest were good. The other meals were chicken and good. On the first day, I ask the waitress for a recommendation and that smokey chicken was the best experience. The cocktail have alot of alcohol. So i could only taste 5 of my 6 favourites. The big bottle of water is very cheap in relation to other restaurants. The service was always nice and patientt. They show NFL (American Football) oo sunday om three screens. You can wish for a game. The restaurant is not very chick. When there are alot of people at the bar it is very loud. The menu for the self combinatiom is only available for lunch.

We went here for lunch and loved it! One of our tour guides actually recommended this place to us, and shared it’s a popular spot for locals to get drinks. It’s in a convenient location and super affordable, with good portion sizes. We loved the cocktails as well! We wish we had found it sooner!

Fabulous food ( fresh homemade salsa and chips). The fish tacos were stuffed full and absolutely delicious! Also, the beef fajitas were amazing! So much food, courteous service and relaxing atmosphere . I’m sure it gets very busy, but this was a rainy weeknight. Highly recommend this great place!

Untapped potential. We visited the restaurant during the first day of our vacation. The drinks and service were lovely, as was the ambiance. However, we waited for about 1,5 hours for our food. Most of our dishes came cold and the steaks were way overcooked. We sent the meat back twice and gave up after that because our kids were hungry and extremely tired after 2,5 hours of waiting. My husband got a complementary bottle of wine as an apology. As they told us one of the chefs had an accident and as they had such great reviews, we thought we would try again two weeks later. This time, we waited for over an hour for our food and our youngest got his dish long before we did. Many of the condiments were lukewarm or cold and the steak was over again. It is a shame because the flavour profiles are there, some elements were amazing and the product quality is good. Service was great (perfect cocktails and lovely staff). It only seems they have a serious issue in the kitchen (mostly time management and qc on the pass), I truly hope they resolve it soon. They compensated us more than fairly and were very kind and understanding.

I've probably eaten at 75+ sushi restaurants. This is the MOST unique. I read people's google complaints and didn't experience any of the negative stuff. The server and sushi chef were fun and friendly. The place is beautifully kept and the place settings are gorgeous. The food was high quality, diverse and delicious. Regarding the prices and long wait times just take a look at people's pictures. How much do you think that fish costs?? How quickly would you expect someone to make that???? Beautiful art takes time. Beautiful artists should be well compensated. I suggest you go there, patiently sip a drink or two, talk with someone and enjoy the experience. If you want quick and cheap just go somewhere else.

Food was fresh and delicious. They use local Azorean fish in their dishes. Staff is personable and helpful. Definitely reccomend!

Had a great dinner at Geiko. Looked for an alternative to the typical Azorean meals, but we still wanted to try local fish. The food is a twist on sushi that highlights local seafood. Do not expect a completely traditional Japanese sushi meal, but the chef takes the same approach and care with the preparation. Service is excellent, very friendly and helpful - one of the best during our trip so far!

The food here was nice, but I would not recommend coming here for dinner. We booked a reservation that was delayed by previous groups, so we were not seated until 45 minutes after our booking. We waited 5 minutes for a menu, 5 minutes for a server, received no drinks menu, received only 2/3 ordered appetizers (each with long delays in between), and then the main dish we ordered to share was quite small (Geiko special, 41 piece sushi/sashimi but most pieces are tiny). We starved for most of the meal, and by the time we paid and left we had been there for about 3 hours. If we had known, we would have ordered takeout or gone elsewhere. The atmosphere inside is odd- there is a giant mirror running the length of the small restaurant, so half your party gets to stare awkwardly at themselves in a mirror for several hours. Maybe that’s a draw for some though.

Amazing locally sourced fish sushi! Excellent service! Plus they have local azorian wines.

the food i ordered here was very good- the salmon sashimi and the miso were delightful, and the mixed seafood pancake was yummy. a few key issues- the restaurant is cash only which was not posted anywhere, and the service was good but very slow, we were there for 45 minutes minimum before getting any food, and we had made our ordering decisions in the first five minutes. service was great though, waitress made recommendations and took great care of us.

Good service (no long waiting times, is something from the past). And really appreciate they use local fish, you definitely taste that! If you like fresh sushi, go here on Terceira!

Busy steak restaurant right by the Angra Marina. I had the garlic prawns appetizer, which was very tasty and an adequate portion - with sauce to dip the fresh bread. Then I had the aged sirloin steak with a side of mushroom, asparagus and potatoes cooked in an egg batter, which was very good. To drink we had a carafe of cucumber sangria which was delicious. I thought the price was very reasonable for a steak restaurant. It was very busy, so be sure to make a reservation.

Friendly service, helped us choose dishes to order. Appetizers are delicious. Alcatra (beef pot roast, native to the island) is listed as sharable for 2 people. But if you're planning to try a few dishes it's enough for 3 or 4!!

Looks fancy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the food expectation should be the same — not to be rude. The pineapple sangria was AMAZING (won our hearts!). Staff was very friendly! :) Would recommend going for the smaller bites.

The Marina Grill has a wonderful position on the waterfront. The food is very good, the staff are very welcoming and the service is excellent. Special mention must go to Lucas who's sense of humour and friendly approach makes you feel very welcome.

Service was awful. We were the only table in there when we first got there and there was multiple tables that arrived after us and finished before we even got our food. We started with two goat cheeses and morcela for an appetizer and that took over 45 minutes to come out. When we asked our waiter about the appetizers he said, “They haven’t come out yet?”. Our server was very inattentive to our table. Our actual meals took a while to come out as well even after someone from our table went back up to the server explaining how long we were waiting for our food. It’s not that there was a language barrier when our table could speak Portuguese. Just disappointing when it’s so cute in there and we were hungry! I should also note we had a table of 9 which is understandable if the food took a little while longer but there was a table of 8 that sat after us and got their food before us.

My wife and I and another couple came here for dinner. We had 7 PM reservations. After an initial round of drinks was served, we ordered dinner. At around 8:15 or so our dinners hadn't arrived and one of us mentioned something to a waiter behind the bar. Another person (manager???) came to apologize and said the kitchen was preparing our meal. After about 10 more minutes the meals arrived. I and the other husband order the aged sirloin, both medium rare. The steak was barely cooked. I ordered the side of rice which was good. I also ordered a side salad which was little more than a few pieces of arugula. No one truly apologized for the incredibly long wait time and I was so tired of waiting I couldn't be bothered bringing the undercooked steak to their attention. Overall a very disappointing experience and it appeared the staff serving us that night didn't really care.

Definitely would recommend to anyone coming through terra chà. This local establishment provides great meals at a fair price. The service was great, with the server being very friendly. The only thing that disappointed me was the house steak was tough despite medium done. But alas, the other meals were very flavourful and filling.

Amazing small family owned place! The owner is very nice, takes care of the guests very well. They have few dishes but always fresh. We stayed only couple of days in the island but we returned more than once to this restaurant! It is good quality vs price. Must do point when you are in the south of Terceira! Support the locals :)

Alcatra was delicious and the steak was super good too. The guy doesn’t speak english but we can talk with a translator. I don’t have any pictures because we demolished our food.

Despite communication difficulties, it was a pleasant stay. The owner was very helpful and everything worked out well. The food is authentic Portuguese and tasty. The portions are large.

Nothing but good things to say about this restaurant!! Fransisco and Rui were wonderful! So much patience with our family of 11 who speaks no Portuguese. Great food for the price. This restaurant was close to the bull run and was an easy taxi ride back to our hotel. We highly recommend this restaurant to all!

We ordered swordfish and quail and the food didn’t taste fresh at all. Had to order a new dish cause I couldn’t eat the swordfish because of the rancid taste. The seconnd dish (shrimps in garlic) was ok, but quite obviously straight from the freezer.

Best sushi i ever had. The service is amazing, those people are so nice and they talk to you and ask were are you from and give you a nice and warm welcome. The rest of the island isn’t much interesting, but this sushi place was worth it.

Tasty sushi and friendly staff! When we arrived, we were too late to order sushi for that evening, but we could get a pokebowl for that evening and order sushi for pickup the next evening. My favourite is the salmon pokebowl with teriyaki sauce!

Best Sushi Place on the Island. During the Pandemic I went there a lot of pick up the Moshi Fusion and the Spicy on Top. Sometimes they can't serve you because of "lack of food".

Beautiful space, friendly and catering staff that speak English, and the food is delicious! Fresh and well flavored. Must try their chicken gyotas!

Wr had MoshiMe, Veggie Moshi, Tempura Ebi and fresh Ebi roll. Tempura Ebi is as good as we have at home in Vancouver! Loved the fresh Ebi roll! My husband enjoyed both mixed sushi boxes.

Excellent Sushi...best I've had outside of Japan, super fresh and delicious. Friendly staff and they even have blue fin which is absolutely delicious. A must visit if you are on the island. For the quality it's an excellent deal as you can do the chefs choice for two for 24€.

We so enjoyed our evening that we are returning for another devine meal. Exquisitely prepared local ingredients that Carlos magically transforms into culinary art forms that send the taste buds into heaven.

The food here is absolutely fantastic, and so are the wines. The staff is super attentive and nice, the chef comes to the table to explain the dishes and answer any questions (we were there on a quiet monday evening). They speak English very well. The ingredients used here are noticably excellent, and incredibly well prepared. The Sintonia Steak was the most tender steak I've ever had. The mushroom risotto is the only vegetarian option, but you won't regret it, it has so much flavor! The cheesecake was good, but the chocolate mousse is where it's at. And trust me, get the matching dessert wine. Do keep in mind that this restaurant only opened it's doors 2 months ago. This is definitely noticable in some aspects, like the bathrooms being completely dark when I went there, but the quality of the food and wine more than makes up for it. And if you know they just opened, it's kind of charming in a way to see they are still figuring things out.

We had a really great evening at this restaurant. The menu was a multi-course journey with typical ingredients and influences from the Azores – exciting and full of variety. What made it extra special was that the chef personally introduced each dish and shared some insights. The whole team was incredibly welcoming and attentive, which made us feel comfortable right away. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, and the wine pairing was spot on. All in all, a wonderful evening – highly recommended!

Had the tasting menu based on local products. The dishes were well balanced with creative twists, offering a fresh take on local cuisine. It’s an exciting concept in the making and a promising spot. Looking forward to seeing how it grows. All the best to chef Carlos Nuno and his team!

Top marks on everything. Easily the best restaurant we went to in the Azores over 2 weeks. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is really familiar and friendly. We will be back if we come back to Terceira!

We went on a Sunday night in July for dinner. We enjoyed sitting outside with the beautiful ocean view. There is plenty of parking in the attached lot. Our service was good. We had a Boston pizza which had sausage, Pepperoni, onion, mushroom. It was tasty and the crust was cooked perfectly. The prices are very reasonable. Medium Pizza, beer and wine for 16€.

Very good food and fast too. The pizza was covered with quality local ingredients and the chicken sandwich was Huge! A must visit place when in São Sebastão.

As an American visiting Portugal for an extended time I am very happy to have found this place. The pizza was delicious and the staff did have someone who spoke English who could wait on us. It was an overall very satisfying experience!

Good pizza place with a great view. You have the option to sit out side or inside the restaurant to enjoy your food. There is enough space for big families or events. The menu have a good selection and the prices are fair, don't forget to try the ice-cream. This place has great parking space.

Being from the states (America) we are spoiled with great tasting pizza locations, they are abundant. We very surprised and delighted to see a place called "Boston house of pizza", it was down right amazing and great tasting pizza. Looking forward to coming back here in future vacations knowing that there is a great pizza place nearby our Airbnb. :)

Great Pizza, friendly Staff, and a simple but tasty menu. If you're in the mood for carbs or some chicken wings, they certainly deliver!
