Great experience! Cozy restaurant with menu based on fish and seafood. Everything was absolutely tasty and fresh. We had a 12 courses menu with 9 starters, 1 main, 1 second and mix of dessert with sorbet, all served with a good house Malvasia wine. Good service and quality price relation, defenitly recommended!

Amazing sea food with only the freshest ingredients available. No fixed menu but trust the owner with recommendations. Meat dishes are also available.

Two visits in it is an umissable seafood experience. Wonderful raw scampi appetiser, buzara mussels and grilled squid. Tasty pasta. Excellent sorbet. Expect to pay 50+ euros per person.

We stopped on the way for lunch. Outside on the sun(early spring) everything was full, so we were offered inside or big table outside, but the only one in shade(thats way free;)). When I politly suggested that we can wait for small table on the sun, where two guests was almost on the way,..he raised his voice in anger and said very loudly(people turn around)"you didnt reserve and now you even want to choose. Sit here if you want, or dont. I dont care..." What a behavior, rude attitude,....of course we didnt sit down. With a bitter aftertaste we left and in the next village we found a taverna with tables in the sun and a friendly waiter. Later we found out that this unfriendy server was owner! Totally bad impression and thats why bad rewiev, but I have to admit it smelled good.

The food was great, the staff was friendly, the wine was superb. I heard a lot of good stuff about this place over the years and finally got a chance to get there this weekend. Turns out all the good stuff I heard was true.

We found this place through the magnificent bridge sightseeing, we were here with our dog and were treated very kindly! Our dog got water and a little piece of ham slice to snack on while we were waiting for our own pizza's. They were delicious, and price was good (10euro and 11.50euro) the size was so big we couldn't even finish! At the end we left a small tip for the good service and in return got a free small dessert to take with us while we enjoyed the view of the bridge and could take some pictures. All was amazingly delicious, we were treated with much kindness! Compliments to this place and the crew!

A very good place, when we arrive there were no seats but the person acted as fast as they could. We were served also fast, the food is good, children are happy. Near the restaurant, they have a playground so kids can enjoy and entertain themselves. I think it’s a very good place to have a drink so it’s hard to do with a family and two kids😀 I think it’s one of the best places in Nova Gorizia

Excellent restaurant located near the Slovenia - Italy border. The restaurant was very high quality and the food I ate there was some of the best of my whole trip. I tried a special mushroom pasta, which had a lovely fresh taste alongside a side of potato wedges. For dessert I had a walnut struccoli and I have to say it is one of the best desserts I have ever eaten - super tasty!

I really spent a wonderful evening there with my friends. Excellent food, we decided on fish menu, warm and cosy atmosphere, service beyond kind. Definitely, I am coming back in near future.

My favourite place to eat in Slovenia. The food was delicious! Local and fresh ingredients. Moreover, the staff is amazing, very kind and full of recommendations to get the best experience in Slovenia. Also, after eating you can just go few minutes and see the Solkan bridge. We had our dinner at this place with some of our guests who were visiting us. We decided the place at the last moment and made an reservation. Interestingly, this place was completely unknown to us, though we have been going to work on a regular basis via the road in front of it. We were four and ordered veal chop (telečja zarebrnica), beefsteak (biftek) and a meat gourmet platter (gurmanska plošča) for two. The first two items were really good, specially the veal chop was delicious. However, I was a bit disappointed with the meat platter. I found some of the meat bland, and the vegetables on the platter had a peculiar smoky smell. We also had beer. The service was courteous and quick. What I liked most was the atmosphere. The place is very spacious, with both indoor and outdoor seating. It started raining, which, for me, added to the charm of the evening. Though I didn’t enjoy some of the food, that may be a matter of personal taste. Overall, I recommend this place.

We were a groups of cyclists visiting the town for the night, coming back from a 110 KM trip... we entered the place as we heard good reviews and we were so hungry. we didn't have a reservation of course, as we were on bike all day.. we entered, and a young lady looked at us with as we said hello,, we need a table of 7 ppl, she immediately answered, do you have a reservation, we said no,,, she waved with her hand and said sit over there, and pointed at a 6 chairs table.. we accommodated ourselves alone, and brought a 7th chair.. then a waiter cam quickly handed us menus and left... the menus were all in Italian, no QR.. we only knew english.. so we waved for the guy to help us out, even after googling some dishes, we needed help knowing what is best.. he said I'm very busy, and you came in a busy day, this is the menu, choose for yourself, and left us... we waited for like 7 min and agian called him, can't you just help us, we need to eat and we are hungry, we dont understand the menu, he said: am busy cleaning tables, some tables are waiting for me to remove thier plates, it is your fault you came at a busy time... this is what i can o ffer you, read the menu and choose, other than this i can't help. We left the place, surprised witht rudness level and unwelcoming behaviour

Everything was superb. I decided upon fish menu, which was an excellent choice. Dishes already visually spoke about the taste. Superb, one word, superb. And in combination with different white wines. Amazing. The waiter was very kind, explained every dish and the choice of wine, the atmosphere calm and cosy. I just loved it. I will definitely come back and I do recommend this nice place to everybody.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Unwelcoming Attitude We had one of the most disappointing dining experiences at this restaurant. Our group was part of a week-long charity cycling tour, covering hundreds of kilometres across multiple countries to raise funds for children, families in need, and local hospitals. After a long day of riding, we arrived at our hotel and searched for a nearby place to eat—unfortunately, we chose this one. From the moment we walked in, the reception was cold and unwelcoming. A staff member looked us over in a very dismissive manner and asked if we had a reservation. When we said no, she pointed to a table without a word of courtesy, as if we were an inconvenience. After sitting down, we waited a long time for a server. When we asked about certain menu items, the waiter rudely told us he was too busy to help, had tables to clean, and we’d have to figure it out on our own. His tone and attitude made it clear we were not welcome. In the end, we chose to leave. We were shocked by the level of indifference and lack of basic hospitality. This was especially disappointing given the context of our visit and the spirit of the journey we were on. Sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant to others.

Restaurant has old looking interior and outside terrace. They offer many dishes a la carte but they are making lunch dishes too. Usually the food taste good, but the amount of food is too small. Waiters are appropriate friendly.

This place was in our mind after we had coffee in a gloomy day during our initial few days in Nova Gorica. This time we landed there with our guest. We wanted to have a light dinner. I ordered tuna salad, my wife and the guest ordered pizza. The food was no doubt good. We also had white wine. What I liked most is the ambience of the restaurant and this is the most important reason why I wanted to revisit this restaurant. We sat outside and there are two such sitting arrangements. And of course, the service was very welcoming. It was a nice experience altogether and I recommend this place.

The last experience of our holiday in Slovenia was a dinner at Gostilna Pr'Mikiju. The choice was just the right one. We had a fish platter, pumpkin gnocchi, plum cake and lots of beer. Everything was really excellent. The service was very fast and absolutely lovely. It was the perfect atmosphere for a balmy late summer evening. Only a few mosquitoes were annoying again. But the restaurant is not responsible for that and the number was definitely lower than at all other places on the previous days.

Set in a peacefull part of town, Gostilnica Pr' Mikiju is a very desired restaurant both for dinner and for linch. During the day they offer great lunch menus and good pizza all day long. Prices are quite moderate.

I was a steady client sometimes ago. But the quality level of the food started to decline. I'm talking here about morning launches that we used to eat there. I don't have a lot of experience at "alla cart" menus. But how I said the quality of lunches declined. I tried two months ago if the situation was changed but I didn't see any changes. Hope that the dinners are better. Also all the friendly staff it's gone.

We arrived at this place and discovered that the restaurant only accepts cash. The place was completely packed, with a line out the door, which makes it all the more unbelievable that they don’t accept card payments in 2025. For a business of this size and popularity, this is absolutely unacceptable. A waiter (glasses, long hair) was extremely rude when serving us drinks. When he found out we weren’t going to order food because we didn’t have enough cash, he became even more arrogant and slightly aggressive. We ended up leaving and went to another restaurant just 15 minutes down the road that did accept cards, as all modern businesses should in 2025. Would not recommend unless you’re carrying a stack of cash like it’s 1995 and you like waiters who yell at you.

The best burgers in the valley. If time you have to stop here for the burgers. It can be quite crowded sometimes but it is worth to wait a bit for the table. Great food!

Douga Njiva snack bar is a great place to stop by. The food is tasty and freshly prepared, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. A nice spot to enjoy a quick meal or a snack.

Visited in July after a long time. Usually the place is crowded but we had luck this time to find a table also because of covid situation. Staff was kind and the food was good. Ordered a vegetarian hamburger and čevapčiči portion with two portions of French fries (on the photo). On spot there is also a downstairs so you get a nice view to the Soča river.

The decorations and atmosphere of this place is pretty nice. It seems quite trendy, and everything fit together very well. The waitress wasnt particularly polite tho, she seemed to not really care much, but wasnt really rude either. We only had a coffee there, which was decent.

It was very delicious with a wide range of burgers to select from with other meat dishes as well as some vegetarian options. If you like Burgers, You will have to try to the Boston Burger or the Black Angus Burger which typically cost around 10,00 Euros , so be prepared to spend at least 15.00 Euros per person if you will take their Strawberries Lemonade... Actually, you MUST TAKE this drink... One of the best ever:) . Not ideal for students on a tight budget, but great food overall. Simply the best! Fabrika is an example on how a restaurant should be, high quality food, high quality staff and incredible position. It’s always my first choice when in Nova Gorica!

We had the XL tasting menu with wine pairing and it was delicious. I still think of that smoked shrimp, the saint-jacque in cannabis crust and definitely about the egg with truffles and a lot of other goodies. The hotel is dark and moody, with a lot of black and white fine art nudes.

My wife and I had an outstanding stay in this very stylish hotel with Michelin Star restaurant. We had the opportunity to know the owner and creator of the place. He is very friendly and tried to fulfill every wish we had. When he speaks about his work you can feel his deep passion for his job and he does it really well: From the concept to the design (music, smell, materials, style etc.) over the delicious food (we had breakfast only). I would recommend this place for every couple who is seeking a “special & romantic night” for two 🌹.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as well as ate at the restaurant. Both were absolutely 5 star experiences, and I’d love to go back. Uros is a Michelin-starred chef but also the person who operates the hotel, and is excellent at what he does. We used the hotel as a home base for doing day trips around the area, and he helped arrange winery visits, grappa distillery experiences, and even canyoning. For dinner at the restaurant we did the long menu with wine pairing. It was a great way to learn more about local Slovenian wines from regions like Brda and Vipava Valley. Especially loved the seafood courses.

The XL degustation menu and wine pairing were personally overseen by the head chef, Uruš. Excellent boutique hotel I spent a few enjoyable days in an excellent and well-designed boutique hotel. The staff was kind and welcoming, and the rooms were clean and tastefully furnished. Really atmospheric place, filled with Slovenian culture. The view is incredible! We tried that famous pancake with nuts, unfortunately it was too soft for our taste. ( and too expensive for us ) But coffee and tea were great.

Really good experience if you are around Gorizia/Nova Gorica, BEST view ever. so if is a good day book a table and ask for the terrace outside with the view. Food was really good, calamari were awesome, Grill Platter x2 was huge and overall very good, the chicken and pork were bit too dry on my taste or they needed some herb butter or something, Cordon Bleu was AMAZING (Lubjanska) . Expect to pay for the awesome view. between 30 - 40 € P/P, service was slow but good, just peak time and only 2 waiters, but , again, once you are on that terrace you should enjoy a good while there looking at the incredible view and sipping wine with no rush.

The place is super cool, especially the location. The service is good and fast and their English is manageable. However, 2 of us got the Vienna steak which was basically a turkey schnitzel and we were very sick the next day. Like food poisoning sick... But somehow I think I will still go back and maybe just get coffee and something safe like pizza

It was on our list after we moved to Nova Gorica a few months back. We were two - I and my wife and we had a reservation, though it seemed it was not required as there were plenty of seats available when we reached. The food was fantastic. We started with the beef soup, the small bowl is enough for a person. It was tasty. Then we went for venison with polenta and the beef fillet with kras wine and french fries. Both of them were tasty. The beef item was particularly super. We also had seasonal salad, which we thought is included, especially after the way the waiter told us about it but we had to pay for it. We also had bear and wine (merlot). The wine is very cheap and was of good quality. Finally, we went for the chocolate souffle with ice cream, which was the cherry on the top. We liked the environment as well and the service was very welcoming. The waiter and the waitress were warm and helped us to decide with some of the food. There was a lot of noise from a big group sitting on the other side. However, it was not a problem for us. We plan to give it a revisit.

It was absolutely amazing! If you want to try really spectacular sea food you MUST come here and order mixed plate. For just 38 EUR you will get really huge plate for 2 person. AMAZING!

Flavour was good though. The fried calamari wasn't very fresh or tasty, quite on the heavy side. This place might be good for a beer and a snack, definitely not for a nice dinner.

It's our go to place...the starter fish soup 3.50 is a lovely bowl of heaven at a bargain price. The carpaccio is really good too I tried the squid salad this week which was a first and really enjoyed. Will definitely order again If you're really hungry try the Rusa Hisa beef which is covered in cheese melt and bacon.

Where other places in the Vipava valley are over pretentious and seem to think they have 3 michelin stars above its entrance (hint, Podfarovz in Vipava village) this place offers better food, service and ambience. Restaurant ar the edge of town. Has a nice courtyard. Pizza was outstanding. But the service made it even better. We came in with to small children who had travelled all day. Nothing but smiles and assurances that everything would be fine and it was exactly that. Some toys and books were brought to the table. And the smallest child could walk around freely without troubles. The waitress took the time to explain and translate everything on the menu. Which was very kind. Delicious, homemade food. Excellent wine and food recommendations by our server. They went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. The starter of mixed fish platter was perfectly pirtioned with diverse flavors and melt in your mouth tenderness of the fish. The main dish of salted fish was also incredibly tender and moist; served with delicious creamed spinach and perfectly roasted veggies and potatoes. The chocolate souffle was sweetly balanced, and the espresso and homemade chocolates were the perfect cap to our meal. This was one of the best meals we had during our 3 weeks in Slovenia, eating at restaurants all over the country. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to experience this restaurant. Note: we only dined here. We did not stay in the hotel.

We were looking for a nice pizzeria in Gorizia after the whole day of swimming in Grado. Get a great pizza napoletana at this place. It's my first visit and I tested the place with the basics, I ordered pizza margherita. I have to say it's one of the best I had in a while. It is very well balanced, with just the right texture and combination of mozarella and pomodoro. The dough was baked to just the right level too. Definitely a recommendation when you are in Nova Gorica.

He is very knowedgeable about the territory, regarding food and wine, but also from a historical point of view. I feel sure we will go there again. The prices are reasonable for the very high standard of the dishes. We were delighted to meet the chef too who is also very charming.

The restaurant inside is nice, but when sitting outside two flood lights on high poles are somehow disturbing. So better take your shower before dinner. The near road has heavily traffic. In addition some nearby squat drivers do their best to raise background noise levels additionally. Our favourite place and favourite people in Slovenia! We visited the first time 2 years ago when the wine dinner was fully booked at Saksida. We found Vina Lisjak as an alternative but we never looked back and ate here every night and even came back to Slovenia just to visit Peter again. The food is incredible, most of it homemade or grown, they have a standard but amazing menu. If you come more often they will make some other amazing dishes for you. And last but not least, his wine! Officially the first Sauvignon we ever loved and so much flavour. The car was full that's why we could only take a few wines back but the year after we brought our new camper bus! I would highly recommend this place! Sit down, relax and let everything surprise you. Sometimes it's good not having to choose anything! Be sure to visit the winery! Peter is an amazing host with a funny and kind personality. I managed to fix a few things at the restaurant (pin machine and the window broken by storm) and his gratitude was felt by a big headache the next day XD We love this place and cannot recommend it enough. Lieve camping mensen, zorg ervoor dat je in iedergeval hier een avondje lokaal komt eten! Great family runned restaurant from which all products are or from their farm or out of the area. Dad on the fields, one son being the master chef in the kitchen and the other son the mastermind behind the wines and explanations. We had an amazing time and the 4 course menu with wines was one of the best meals we had during our holiday. As it was a quiet evening the owner was able to explain us a lot about their business. I loved to see the passion they have for there wines, food & country. We even got invited to the winecellar to taste some of the unfinished wines to compare them with the finished ones we had during dinner. In total we spend more then 4 hours with them where we learned so much about the Slovenian culture. A real must visit when you are in the neighborhood!!

We are staying at the Saksida camping, but our intuition said not to have the refined but expensive meal and wine tasting there, but go to the Vina Lisjak, a family run restaurant and vineyard. We had such a nice wine tasting with Peter Lisjak. It was really personal and he told us a lot about his winemaking and the family traditions. The board of little toasts, home made garlic, procuittos and cheeses was so good! Unfortunately we didn’t know they served a dinner with paired wine otherwise we would have done that. The wines were really good, especially the pinot blanc and the bubbles.

We just came from Venice and I can easily say that the food at this restaurant was the best meal I’ve had yet! The family who runs it takes obvious pride in their dishes — all local wines, local salt, local olive oil, local beers, etc. One of the sons was our waiter and his knowledge of wine was as good as any 5-star restaurant I have been to. We just went with his suggestions and he did not disappoint! He was the only one waiting on diners that night and he did an incredible job with a very full restaurant!
