Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in Varazze

This place is unbelievable! This is my second time in Varazze, which is a beautiful place in anyway, we found this restaurant which callls itself pizzeria, but actually this is cosy place with a fine dining experience. The seafood is absolutely awesome. More to that this is a family run restaurant with all the family spirit what you can get! Oh, and by the way the narancino and pompello are made by the granny!

We came full of hope but left disappointed. We were given a table next to the kitchen, and the fish was tasteless, probably frozen. The bill was also quite high. Overall, more effort is needed to improve the customer experience.

To me it is a 5 stars restaurant. The pasta is fantastic and sea foods are so fresh and yummy. Service is super friendly.

Overall a good fish restaurant, no pizza though it is mentioned even on the menu front page. as also usual in italian place you should ask if there is anything not listed into the menu since depending on availability ypu could have some nice extra to pick.

This restaurant is more than just a pizzeria. It has the most wonderful seafood. The staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming. This restaurant deserves to be number 1 in Varazze. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys very well priced seafood in a wonderful atmosphere.

This place is amazing! I had the best pizza ever and there are like 3 waiters for each table and the price is excellent! Recommend it.

Wonderful location, if you can eat on the dock, quality on average but tasty food. The service is impeccable because it is used to a refined and Milanese clientele. Prices in line with the market and the season. This place is a real treat.

Best food in Varazze! Fresh fish, amazing views and a desert to die for. Incredibly well chosen and tasty menu with a nicely priced wine and a lovely outside areas offers a great combination for a very pleasent evening. 100% recommended! PS just a tiny suggestion to the service .. Some further knowledge of offered wines and some kind of basic facts would be helpful for us to chose the best wine to this fantastic menu.

Great food, Friendly Staff. you Pay €39 for a full menu of 4 courses and they offer you the option to order additional plates if you would love to! Lovely with the live music. Good atmosphere.

The food is great, dont forget to ask whether there is raw fish on the menu or not beforehand if it matters to you! Otherwise, the service is great, they are extremely nice and honest, really friendly, the location is great you can get ice cream afterwards as well. Great place to eat!

We had an excellent pizza, swordfish and 'polipo con patate' as an antipasto (octopus). Everything was competently done if not particularly creative. The service is friendly and polite. The location is cute: a hobbit-like long sequence of rooms, opening both on the seafront and on the 'carrugio'.

It was what we expected from a restaurant at this level. We had a table outside and it would have been perfect if the bar next door didn’t have their music so loud. The table setting was very elegant, which indicates that this bistro is at a higher price level. We had the linguine with red prawns, salmon and the cod fish. They food is not abundant, but you come here for the quality. The ingredients are of very high quality. All was very tasty, but IMO the cod dish could have been better designed (again, the flavor was great). They had 1/2 bottles available, and the wine list was simple but ok.

Great selection of beers and Enrico is a great host. We had a great time watching the rugby. Stand up if you love the Darts!

This restaurant aims at a more elegant category. We had a table in the beautiful courtyard. The service was not special, but nothing to complain. They didn’t have any menu and it was difficult to memorize all dishes, but IMO this is a good thing. We had the trofie al pesto, tuna salad and the cuttlefish. The food was outstanding, very well cooked and above average. We had wine by the glass and didn’t look at the wine list. But it was our best dinner so far.

We came upon this little cozy restaurant hidden back from the lungomare. We love the retro, rustic decode and mismatched glasses and plates. The menu was inventive and offered a lot of gluten free options (except for dessert). My pasta all pesto was fabulous, just like my mother-in-law used to make. The calamari and octopus dishes were perfect. We can definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is one of the only good places to eat in Varazze and which serves proper Ligurian food. All the other restaurants in Varazze serve stodgy seafood and the type of thing tourists and Milanese like to eat. Nice atmosphere and nice place to eat. Book because it is hard to get into. They don’t publicise this but they grow their own vegetables at Castagnabuona just down the road.

Italian fish and seafood trattoria. Food is unnoticeable and bland on average (I tried linguine with vongole, which was very oily and not “risottata” and seafood pasta). A little expensive for the quality and portions. In summer seating is in the outdoor terrace, though table set and clothing is a bit shabby. Service is friendly and warm, also very quick. I don’t think I’ll be back and I won’t recommend it to friends.

The Gambero restaurant in Varazze is a small place with 12 tables where you can eat fresh fish specialty. They have outside a garden which will be open spring time. The quality of the fish is very high they have a menu of several fish specialty and an extra menu which I suggest , where there is an offer of the best fresh news. You can get also menu suggestions directly from the chef. I got linguine with branzino where the pasta was very good and the fresh fish also of superb quality. That day there were fresh oysters, tuna tartare , fish mixed fried and so on. The service was also excellent and it paid attention to the customer. I recommend this place.

I dined at Quattro A restaurant and opted for their fish dishes as appetizers (antipasto misto mare) and the Trofie al Pesto as the main course. The staff was welcoming, and the service was quick. However, I'd recommend revising the Antipasto Misto Mare, as the portion of fish was disappointingly small, given the €14 price. On the positive side, they accept electronic payments. Reserving a table, especially on weekends, is a wise choice.

Such a shame. We used to ove this spot and stop there everytime we were driving by varazze. The spot and the terrace are still great just over the water. Unfortunately the menu and the service have gone down the toilet. Last time today we coudn t even order and had to leave the place. The restaurant nearby La Perle is just as good in food and service as unfortunately kursaal has become. Just don t stop there if you believe and expect of a minimum in customer respect.

It was a great experience . the owner and the staff were very kind and ready to any request . Food was delicious , I can advice the cozze marinara and the calamari fritti. Location is super , the best is around 19.30 during the sunset .

Charming restaurant with great seafood. The take on tuna tartare with pears and passion fruit was very creative and refreshing, great calamaris with veggies and had a simple yet super solid orata. Very nice service, definetly will come back!

Probably the best place for affordable seafood in town. We had an excellent dinner with a shared mixed seafood antipasti, one superb seafood pasta each, a bottle of local white wine, a shared tiramisu and coffee for dessert for just under €40 per person! Great value for money, excellent food and attentive service.

Just one word: AMAZING. As you can see from the picture the Antipasto Misto di Mare is a diverse service of different typical seafood dishes all of them very good. I recommend the “Gnocchi di nero di Seppia” as well. Prices are good for the quality of the food.

We arrived in this loud and chaotic restaurant, very much looking forward to a great Mexican meal - unfortunately we were greatly disappointed. The margarita was from a mix and did not taste like anything authentic - too sweet and no fresh lime. My ribs were super cold as if they were pre made and just microwaved - but not long enough. My son ordered filet mignon which was ok - not great - and my husband had a mediocre dish as well. They gave me a new plate of ribs 20 minutes later after all other dishes were cleared - so I rushed to eat it - it was good and hot.

This place gave me extreme food poisoning. I will be filing a report with the Italian authorities, now that I am recovered. I had the Spicy Chicken Burrito, which clearly was too old or not cooked correctly.

Spend a weekend on the beach in liguria surrounded by Italian restaurants because the italians are so traditional. I was really bombarded with seafood noodles, Fried seafood and pizza for days, wanting to try other dishes. This Mexican restaurant is special. The location is next to the harbor where the luxury yacht docked. It was delicious, with some slightly spicy dishes!

Wife’s main course arrived at same time as my starter, which was fajitas served with no cheese and no guacamole (which we were charged extra for even though it’s included on menu). My steak arrived 10mins later than rest, cold and uncooked in middle (ordered medium well done) Sent it back to be cooked more - tasted very nice but now burnt outside and just cooked inside. Bbq ribs for starter was over cooked and burnt - not able to eat. Wrong drinks were delivered. Left not eating much and had to order more food at Life downstairs which do delicious pizza! Reason for 1 star rating and not zero.. we came to Mamasite 3 nights ago and the food was incredible which is why we returned. Guessing tonight it was a different chef.

For seconds, the tuna was excellent. The dessert was also worth it - an amazing chewy brownie. Would definitely eat here again. Instead I had to try to defend myself that if the dish is called Tuna Tatake it should be served like Tuna Tatake. He only said it is the way it is done it Italy. Never did either of them offer to reconcile the problem, to cook it more. That was the biggest issue. Talking down to a customer, arguing. I asked them to prepare it for me to take home, and I would cook it at home. I ended up leaving the restaurant, it was so unpleasant to be argued with, it was beyond frustrating. My sweet wife stayed, got her meal to go and when she went to pay he argued with her, angrily showing her the Google results of Tuna tatake and that it was served raw. The pictures show a pan sear and sesame seeds. She could have told him that his had no sesame, or soy, and that it actually says its served rare, not raw, but that was not the point. She told him the biggest problem was his attitude to her husband, that they just argued and didn't listen to the customer or try to help. The sad part is that he cared more about being right than what the customer needed. I hope he can read this with an open mind and humility. I am a trained chef and was just hoping to get my dish prepared the way I expected. I hope you can try to listen to the customer in the future, and try the dish prepared like tuna tarake, or change the description in the menu to represent how the dish is served. These are the only 2 reasons why this place didn’t get a 1 star Staff behaved like they hated the place, the place is not kids friendly which is odd for Italy. The food - it was badly made. Rissoto over cooked, pasta was over cooked and the deep fried prawns - presentation was nice but it was very unfresh. The prawns texture was like mashed potato. Overall very bad food, felt like a place that doesn’t want their customers to come back. We wanted to have seafood for lunch and ended up at this awsome place. We had the lobster with fresh pasta and it was just perfect. The staff is also extremely welcoming and nice. Next day we came again for dinner and had their amazing cakes as well, which just topped the experience.
