Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in Angouleme

We have been to Lion Rouge a few times now and always been pleased but we visited in June with my brother in law and another friend and had a great meal. Everything was tasty but notably, the portions were enormous! My wife had the veal for the main course and it was probably enough to feed 2 or 3 people, and it was delicious. The deserts, if you go as a couple, I would say have one desert between two. I had the profiteroles… enormous!! The service was good, cost was reasonable and food generous. We would happily go back.

Amazing service, very quick. The food was warm and extremely delicious. I would definitely recommend the bruschetta as a starter, and to be honest the marguerita pizza, I know most people think plain is boring but the flavours for a pizza are insane. The macaron du lion is one of the nicest macarons I have hade in my whole life. This is one of the best restaurants in my opinion, they also change their menu for the seasons of the year so you can always get something different and fresh.

Arancine disappointing no flavour despite supposedly truffle added , it is supposed to be crispy outer but tomatoe sauce on top made these soggy again very bland no seasoning. The best starter of the day was the squid or the Olives with gressine. Main meal spaghetti vongole, very bland, no seasoning no olive oil. Now the cheesecake dessert was delicious, sadly the tarte au citron had a soggy chew bottom in the middle. Wine and coffee excellent. We will return but maybe order the pizza next time. Ambience of this restaurant was excellent.

We have been to this restaurant a few times and every time we are disappointed. We love the deco and ambiance. We were there at 12.20 table booked online for 12.30 to be told that we hadn’t booked with them there is a website which has all their details on but is a scam. So be aware you can only book by phone she wanted nothing to do with the fact I booked online which I thought would want to know as it’s their information the scammers are using even to say she would into it and maybe get it removed. Anyway back to ordering food. Our server told us what was the menu of the day sounded lovely so out of 4 of us I wanted it to be told it was sold out there was around 10/15 people in the restaurant how did it sell out that quick also my grandson wanted a margarita pizza no sorry only kids menu he’s 16 so he wasn’t allowed and no margarita pizza on adult menu. He suggested he’s favourite pizza which is what he ordered but wasn’t what he wanted so didn’t eat much of it. It’s just so annoying that every time I’m dissatisfied.😡

I first came to this restaurant in January 2023 and returned today (August 2023). Once again, the pizzas were a superb quality. Service is friendly and welcoming and the interior of the restaurant is fabulous. But, above all, a great pizza.

Visited in August but we've been before a few years ago. Tasty food and they will adjust the spice if you ask. Decent size menu but not too big you can't decide. Nice friendly service. Located in a quiet pedestrian street.

Really struggled to find an authentic Indian restaurant in France but today we found it. What a great place. Excellent service, great atmosphere and the food was full of flavour. Definitely a must every time we now come to Angouleme. Fairly priced especially for the location.

As i was traveling around the town of Angouleme me and my friends wanted to try Indian cuisine. Indian cuisine has always been my go to fill my palates with rich flavors and etc for this place i loved their overall service when they tried their best to explain the menu for people who didn't quite understand french language. The menu is fully written in french so don't expect anything foreign. what surprised me was the naan bread , it comes with only one piece for 5€ (garlic naan) because in comparison to the places i visted before for that price i get 2-3 pieces. We ordered Butter chicken (very crispy and just fine) Shahi Korma (this is for chicken curry lovers that doesn't like spicy ) Rice (plain and fried vegetables) Kashmir (pretty good and savory + 🌶️) Lassi (Mango and Rose flavored) (THIS WAS THE BEST) specifically i would recommend trying this drink out if you are looking for new things to try

Came here 2 nights ago, chose it purely because not lot is open in Angouleme on a Sunday evening. Glad we did! Service was really down to earth, friendly, genuine and attentive. Steaks are cooked over an open fire and mine was delicious 😋 The cheesy vegetables accompanying the steak were super tasty, as was my pepper sauce. My partner's burger was huge, juicy and also delicious. They have a good wine list and happy to see half bottles on the menu as a whole bottle is sometimes a little too much. Tap water was brought to the table without question, as soon as we sat down, love this! We had ice cream and sorbets for dessert, they also have other desserts, including Cafe Garmand, a personal favourite of mine after this holiday. Highly recommend La Braise, thanks to the team for a lovely last evening of our French holiday 😊

Long established restaurant in Angoulême. The food is fine albeit expensive. For instance, my duck magret was 26€ , the quality was ok but on the average side, the duck was a little bit tough

Food was variable quality. Steak was good, gambas came with a large, burnt thing which might once have been a red pepper or possibly an aubergine. Whatever, it was inedible. There was also a bizarre sort of cold risotto. Service was friendly but poor. Despite asking twice, our wine never arrived. The table next to ours arrived a couple of minutes after us and were still waiting for food by the time we had left. The resto wasn't particularly busy. The garden is nice if you can get a table and service.

Unfresh meat, redone fries, flavorless veggies, overnight wine, insensitive and inattentive service. Hands down the worst restaurant in town. Avoid at all costs.

Arrived at 21:00. Order taken at 21:20, after intervening. At 22:15, when food was served to a neighbouring table where the guests had arrived much later than us, the waiter promised food in 2 min. It did arrive in 2 min, undercooked, rushed, bad. Atmosphere is zero. Waiters of that worst kind that runs around super fast but actually doesn’t serve anyone in particular. This town is full of good restaurants. Avoid this one.

For somewhere outskirts of central of France, we spent a total of 40€ on 2 fondue over lunch: cheese & fondue bourguignonne - each 20€ & you can refill the fondue however you want. I think the price is really worth paying for! The cheese was mixed with two types of cheese tho.

We were only familiar with cheese fondue, but the waiter kindly explained the process of oil and wine fondues. Both were delicious. We also enjoyed a chocolate fondue with fruit for dessert. They have a really nice locally produced rum. Staff was friendly and able to help out English speakers with little French knowledge.

Shocking service. We don't speak French so I guess that's our fault. 50 mins waiting for food. We ordered fondue and the fish. 50 minutes!? The fondue was brought to our table raw where you can boil it yourself. I don't know why it took 50 minutes for raw cheese to be brought to our table. The fish was very very bland on bland rice with tasteless vegetables. I will never return here.

Amazing dinner with my family. Even from appetizers coming out, I couldn’t stop saying “it’s already so excellent!” Food was excellent! And beautiful, portion generous, and chefs’ heart is in the making for sure. The restaurant is located in the historic center of Angoulem. Whether you sit outside in the gorgeous courtyard or beautiful indoor you can’t go wrong. Ingredients are curated and sourced to ensure highest quality, and menu changes to season and produce best for the time. Our little one got her own heart shaped ice cream, a band came to play some songs, it was magical.

We had a wonderful dinner thanks to Elena and Jean Denis. I was with my family and we warmly received. The offer change every day after the fresh products of the season. The price is very affordable (25€ for 3 courses!). We tried all the dishes of the day, everything was perfect, a modern cuisine with well sourced products. The wine list is inviting, starting from twenty-ish euros, with a lot of offer from Italy. My dessert was perfectly made, a soufflé, a difficult French classic that the chef masters so well. And husband had the pavlova, very well presented and made as well, the Italian meringue with ice cream and passion fruit match perfectly. They have the most beautiful coffee machine I have ever seen! Book a table near the bar downstairs or a table next to the aquarium upstairs. Nice music and lighting. New management and chef from September 2017, this is the new friendly gourmet destination in Angoulême center, comparable to the restaurant "La ruelle" in the same street (but cheaper).

A bit pricy if you come on a budget. A menu goes from 27 to 32€ but the food is amazing with the proper serving size for what you are paying! Super recommend for a couples night out and profissional dinning. If you go with a group, just be sure everyone is confortable with the price range cause once you start adding some beverages you are leaving with a pretty effty bill

And then to top it off, the toilets were grimier than late night public toilets! The smell was unbearable and I hate to think how long the dirt has been on the tiled walls! A place I love to bring my family and friends for lunch, now, I will never set foot in there again!

A place with all Vegan Food and drinks! Such an amazing find and in a beautiful neighborhood. The staff were amazing. My only tip, burgers are meant to be picked up, I saw so many people eating burgers with a knife and fork, however it was cute to watch.

Honestly one of the best meals I have had in France, fresh and full of unique and delicious flavours. Great value as well! And 100% vegan which is a rare find in French villages!

The food is quite nice depending on what you get. Nice garden at the back and nice atmosphere. The service however was awful. The waitress dropped a drink down my mothers dress and didn’t say sorry. Nothing was offered to us and she spent the meal covered in red wine on her white dress.

Food is good... but unfortunately service is so poor I must give only 2 stars. Serving the table behind us a waitress has thrown some sauce on the back of my brand new t-shirt. I discovered it only once back to the hotel. No remedy, had to throw it away. If we add the fact the waiter pouring a bottle of wine had missed the target and spread an entire glass of it on the table... What should I say? An unfortunate evening maybe but all losses remained on my charge. A dinner is an experience not just related to food but service and atmosfere in general. Sorry but this has been a bad experience to me.

Lovely place! The mains a very filling, so only plan to have starters if your really hungry. Plenty of choice and very polite staff. friends that live locally were very happy they sold a red wine that has bubbles. The true name escapes me... That should explain how good the night was ;)

We have been here at least 6 times. The service and food is always excellent. Pizza and Risotto are fabulous. Good selection of wines available also. It’s a lovely place inside as well. Our favourite place to eat in Angouleme. 👍

Very authentic, sympathic little Italian restaurant. The food follows the italian base rules: work with fresh and good ingredients and let the dish then speak for itself. I personally wished they also had a tomato sauce pasta dish, but the truffle cream versions of the tagliatelli and risotto were really good. Would be perfect with, but this is very personal, a little bit more salt and pepper to lift the taste of these great ingredients. Enjoyed!

Best waitress I saw in years. Managed the big outdoor terrace and the indoors all by herself. Food was good. Good price/quality. But as a Belgian I would definitely recommend them to double fry their fries so they get crispy :-).

We very much enjoyed our dining experience here. We got the plat du jour burger as well as L'auvergnat burger which was superb. The enfant menu had some uninteresting chicken tenders but also came with really good fries, and an ice cream sundae which was delightful. Service was prompt and smiley. They even had a high chair! Coffee was very good as well. Cool decor inside, what a unique dining experience. Amazing burgers, amazing service, and cool restaurant.

We took a chance on this place as it looked a bit quirky and had a solid menu: burger, croques, salads etc. Sadly, we were disappointed. We ordered a croque monsieur and a croque madame - and the result was distinctly uninspiring. The croques were soggy and stodgy, and appeared to lack any béchamel - a crucial ingredient! The fries that accompanied these were brown, soft and greasy - awful. I simply couldn't eat them. And the salad was a few lettuce leaves, upon which was squeezed some kind of bottled dressing. Overall not particularly appetising. The waiter/owner(?) was a nice guy but also forgot our drinks.

Well-located restaurant, but the food is not up to par. I took salade with goat cheese, my wife the Caesar Salad. Both salad had the thick veins of the leaves still in, not well cut up neither. Chicken in the Cesar salad was in big chunks, croutons not self made. The goat cheese was melted on pieces of toast that were a size too big. Not recommended.

I went there yesterday evening without reservation at around 19 and I got a table immediately. Really nice and quiet restaurant. Service was friendly and approachable. I orderered a salad sarladiase as starter. Really good. I ordered after the boef brochette, medium-rare. Not sure if due to a misunderstanding, or a mistake in the kitchen, it was rather well done, which made it a bit tough and chewy. It was okay, so I did not mention anything, but it was a bit unfortunate. The fries are fresh and delicious. For dessert I ate an 'ile flotant' and a scoop of pistachio ice cream. Both were superb! The ice cream was creamy and very soft. The Ile flotant was not over sweet, but just perfect. You could see the vanilla specs in the cream. It is a must try. Very recommended.

A real surprise to find a restaurant of this calibre in the not-so-glamourous environs of the Gare (train station). The decor is modern, simple and clean. The staff are friendly and attentive but the Menu is what this place is all about. Decent portions of wonderfully flavoured, delicate and well presented dishes, a mix of traditional and modern "recettes". Even though this restaurant is on the expensive side, it offers great value for money. For me, this is an ideal "special occasion" venue.

Our lunch was fantastic as was the service. My husband had the salad to start and the yellow curry and enjoyed both. I had the canard with foie followed by the cafe gourmand. The canard was delicious! We highly recommend especially if the weather is nice and you can sit outside and enjoy the weather and view of hotel de Ville.

Great food enjoyed by all, quick service .waiters were excellent but the waitress did not understand the meaning of customer service, she was rude and didn't know how to serve meals correctly. Otherwise good was tasty and we'll presented and helpful waiters redeemed the experience.

Wonderful meal, especially enjoyed the salmon tartare and yellow chicken curry. The glass of Merlot was superb. The homemade profiteroles were huge! Staff were friendly & helpful.

We used this restaurant regularly before the change of ownership and always liked it. However, the new owners have made some excellent improvements. We sat outside on the terrace where it is wonderful to watch life go by, looking at the very beautiful Hotel de Ville across the road but the refurbished interior of the restaurant looks cosy and comfortable. We could not fault the service and the staff are friendly and helpful. But for us, the pièce de résistance is the blend of traditional, quality French cuisine with the taste of the Orient, truly inspired. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and we hope to make many visits in the future.

It’s very confusing that there are 2 google listings for the same place. Believe the higher rating, this place is fantastic. Delicious food with some dishes Asian with a French twist. Curries and gyoza both excellent. Tarte Tatin not quite authentic but delicious nonetheless. Great service, wonderful atmosphere outside on a warm night.

A reasonably priced meal,, with a variety of options in a clean, inviting family owned restaurant. Take away is also an option but sitting upstairs with a view is delightful.

Well well well.. I was quite disappointed by this restaurant. From outside it seems to be cosy, and yeah it is inside. Tables are clean enough, staff is friendly. Love the decorations. The dish is another story... do you want to feel being scammed? Just order the Sushi Sashimi, served with a salad and white rice. The salad is fine, soaking in a sauce but.. fine, the white rice portion was small... As an asian, this is an insult, then come to this fish... The portion was so tiny... I could make a full baby sushi with my rice for my 6 month baby... Seriously, this is insulting for 16 eur. Look at the picture... lol what is this.. small and fine.. this is not Sashimi... This is leftovers. To finish the dinner properly, I wanted to take a desert.. the card came.. it was so gross (sticky and dirty) I rather stop here.

Bad place to recommend. The quality and the taste of the food is worse than a couple of years before. Plus the main waiter of the place is super unrespectful. We had a birthday party, and he wanted to make as pay an extra of 20€ because we had a small cake with us. Apparently everything was a joke that he thought was super funny and he put down the mood of the birthday, as even when we were leaving he said he was not making us pay because he is a “nice guy”.

Had to wait twenty minutes before someone took our order and forty more before being served food. I think this place is understaffed and overpacked, I feel really bad for them

HUGE selection of options in a really nice environment. Friendly service and well priced offerings meant a fantastic overall experience. I'll be going back to try more of what's on offer. Rooftop is highly recommended at sunset.

Thank you Ivan (and Max) for a lovely stay! We arrived late at night and Ivan was kind enough to wait up. Breakfast was excellent and the room was very clean. There were a couple of negative reviews that made us hesitate but we are so glad we stayed. This hotel is charming and whimsical with excellent service. Next time we are in the area we will go out of our way to visit again.

Really nice location away from it all. The restaurant was put out as Gastro which it kind of was but was let down in certain areas. We stayed in a junior suite which was large and sheik but needed updating and felt 90's. Would return especially in summer as the nature is wonderful.

We had the most wonderful vegan lunch at Domaine du Chatelard Firstly the setting is absolutely stunning, we sat on the terrace overlooking their private lake and beautiful woodland, it’s quite breathtaking! The staff were super friendly and very helpful, it was no problem at all to amend a couple of the vegetarian dishes to make them vegan (they have a full vegetarian menu, which sounded great for any vegetarians too) and we weren’t made to feel like we were being awkward at all. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and all locally sourced. I think a lot of the food is actually grown on their own organic farm. We’d highly recommend and we’ve already booked to go back for our wedding anniversary.

The location is amazing. We had a Great Lake walk. The staff there are lovely. Really want to help and speak so many languages. HOWEVER, we had no hot water. Turns out circuit had tripped and they had not noticed. There is no bar, you have to sit in reception We booked this because of amazing chef and food reputation. Turns out the chef was not there and they were only offering a menu du jour not a la carte. This was ok. Bread tasted like yesterday’s bread. My wife’s starter of speck was amazing. Langoustine was literally one mouthful! Mai course nice but not amazing. My pudding a tomato sponge promised so much. The sauce was incredible but the sponge had been microwaved to the point of being solid. The C team were in the kitchen. I commented to staff about no hot water and they were a bit baffled, and also about sponge and they just shrugged. Also turned out when i asked for milk with my tea they charged be 1.5 euros. Receptionist whilst lovely literally could not be bothered to take on this. If I were you I’d go somewhere else - they don’t seem to be able to fix issues and it needs a major refit, and head chef needs to turn up! Sorry but I had high hopes and this was average at best and they just didn’t care. Our suite over reception heard everything! No soundproofing

The best meal we have had In Angouleme. The food and service was excellent. Two of our party of three are gluten and milk intolerant and this didn’t cause any issue for the chefs. Highly recommended and we will be returning

Really lovely place. 5 star ratings for food comfort and ambiance. Very friendly staff. Only one criticism, the menu was a bit confusing. instead of a standard menu we were presented with a series of menu cards hanging off a metal cage, the waiter did a good job of guiding us through the choices.

Great place! Very nice waiter who let us try a few wines, even though we are “simple tourists” and let him know we didn’t want to spend a lot of money on wine. It turned out it the best wine we had in our vacation in France! Very good price/quality for the lunch menu de jour. Side note: we really loved the interior and the design cutlery (Alessi). Think this is your best choice for lunch in Angoulême.

We went to this address - not only was the restaurant not open when it was advertised as being open, there was no evidence that the restaurant even existed… no sign, no door. Do not waste your time trying to go here.

Has lots of potential but... It's the second time I've been here for a big group meal and dancing. This time the food service was very slow, our table weren't given bread until we'd asked three times, everyone else had finished their starters. There was a problem with the main course for two of us and again we had to wait for a long time for them to arrive by which time the others on the table had finished their meals. The music was occasionally great dance music but there were way too many songs there were impossible to dance to which was a shame for a large group who wanted to dance the night away.

Very nice river side terrace setting with high quality tapas-style food, no complaints to the chef! The one star rating stems from the rip-off attempts: first serving food plates that were not ordered and then charging a suspiciously high price for the meal and drinks for three. After asking for an itemised bill, the waiter brought back €70 in cash (paid price was €142) and explained there was a misunderstanding. We accepted his money although still did not receive an itemised bill.

Food is excellent, price is good for higher end restaurant (eg €15-30 for a main course) open later than most nearby restaurants, beautiful location on the river. No English menu, but waiters and waitresses did their best to translate and very friendly. Good wheelchair access to outside terrace and inside. We had "fish and chips" and Salmon (which was the starter but they did it for us as a main). Both meals were so good! Highly recommended and we would unhesitantly return.

Didn't stay but had lunch. All average but definitely not worth the money and shouldn't be in the Itinéraire Gourmand book. The waitress wore jeans, dumped our main course and left before asking if we wanted anything else. The meal cost us 125€ . I have eaten in other places in the book who are way superior to this for less money. I don't think the meal warranted more than 60€. Would not recommend.

Authentic Chinese cuisine outside of Paris (not even a big French city). Located in the city center of Angoulême Chez H was a pleasant surprise for those that long for Chinese food, I ordered these meat buns for dinner, nicely baked and juicy, with a good mix of vegetables inside. I would have loved to try their noodles but didn’t have enough room to fit in more :-) absolutely friendly staff. From price level point of view it’s a bit on the high end though.

glutinous rice and beef noodle soup were top notch. great quality ingredients. the beef is so tender that it melts in your mouth, and the noodles have good chew to them. dumplings, however, were a let down considering the owner recommended them. the dough is slightly too stiff and undercooked, and the fillings were not very flavoursome. generally overpriced as well. the mochi balls were not too sweet, although i am personally not a fan of mochi. overall would recommend to just get the mains.

An amazing surprise in our visit to Angouleme. We did not expect to find traditional szechuan-cantonese style cuisine - it was absolutely delicious! So good that we came here twice. The beef noodle soup was made from scratch with traditional homemade noodles and fresh ingredients. We also had the dumplings and a variety of other dishes that were equally as good. Great spot and value find!

As a tourist wanting to eat asian food here in angouleme, France. I found the beef dish is not worth it We ordered fish and spicy beef menu for dinner. But apparently the beef dish came with 5 or 6 tiny pieces and I'm furious. Meanwhile my spicy fish dishes just on point. I dont know if I'm right or not but the dumplings is alright. Kinda like home made. So yeah the price is kinda correct but the beef dishes is kinda bummed since it's wayyy to little for the price we paid.

The food was fantastic! My girlfriend and I came in from America late one evening for a wedding, and everywhere was closing down but one of the servers Cody helped us out and let us order takeaway. Every single item we had was delicious from the dumplings to the rice to the buns!! The steak salad was top notch. Plus our meal came with a Chinese beer! Couldn’t recommend them enough and how friendly they are! Thanks again for such a great start to our trip!

We have been visiting this restaurant for some years now, and it has always been good as ever.. The staff is friendly.. Food is simple and yet very flavorful.. It is advised to book a table in advance.. We were lucky to plan an impromptu dinner and still get a table, but the restaurant got pretty busy very soon.. We had ordered Raviolis au poulet and noiulles a la viande aux choix (poulet) with Muscadet... If you prefer spicy, do not forget to ask for the spicy oil in case not served.. :)

The food was hit and miss. Some of it was great, some mediocre. At this price, I'd expect better. The atmosphere was a bit weird. It's a classy dark metal and concrete building, but the music was a strange mixture of tunes which didn't fit the location or the occasion.

A truly great meal in beautiful surroundings with a warm welcome and great service. We were particularly impressed with the amuse bouche.

Very nice and trendy inside, nicely spaced out for diners. Mediocre food tastes some a bit whacky ie duck and chocolate as part of main dish or mushroom and orange as dessert. Unfortunately a plate had been broken and glued back together as you can see in the photo. If I were to be super critical, cutlery should be prepared before getting to the table, an item had been forgotten during replacement. There was a lack of foam on one dish and food was not hot.

We went to the bistro side on a tuesday for a work lunch. It's ok- i think bistro side is dismal compared to gastro side (the 1 star michelin is definitely not on the bistro side. The gastro is for the serious good stuff but only starting on wednesdays.) Ordered salmon and got Lotte, ordered a trio dessert platter and got macarons and brown rice treat - to me thats only two.) I will come back to try bistro side but disappointed in todays experience. 3 stars because food is still ok.

Sensational food, the best bread I've ever had, so many highlights, all the cooking was so good. We loved our experience, the location is so unassuming, until you see this wonderful architecture to know you've arrived. Just superb

Wondering who pays for the opulent decor? Spoiler alert: you. The entire experience revolves around that. I lost count of how many times someone tried to sell us something. The food, despite its extravagant presentation, tasted mediocre and was quite boring. The smallest dessert was served on an absurdly large and lavish plate. We even had to pay for tap water. And what!? No mignardises with coffee? Valuable lesson in how much better things can be.

I was so disappointed. This is why locals don’t come here. The duck my husband Ordered was so over cooked like rubber despite him specifying clearly it should be rose. The duck burger i got was… like the size of McDonald, lol literally with nothing inside except a bit of cheese and shredded duck cooked so tasteless. I wanted to like the place so much. Other than the courtyard(La cour) and wine nothing was worth the visit. We won’t be coming back. Service was … really .. idk how to explain. It was like Paris, not in a good sense. There are such great other cute restaurants with local families running them, go else where.

Burnt, soggy chips . . In France! That's a first for me. Nasty bun, should be a brioche. Meat patty very good quality and large. Supposed to be a take on an American burger joint . . .doesn't cut it.

We tried this restaurant on a Saturday midday as it has a lot of good evaluations. The whole meal (two salads, one burger and one steak) was not very good. 50 minutes waiting time, salads too small and nothing special, had to ask twice for bread. The burger was not well grilled and the meat not of good quality, the steak very tough and still bleeding inside (although asked for well done), the chips were horrible, very mushy and oily. The service and beer was ok.

Seeking authentic American style flavor? Could be a hit or miss. In my case takeaway service was very polite but my order was ready suspiciously fast. Burger was ok, fries unforgivablely soggy. I'm being generous with the rating as I never specified how well to cook the meat. And uhh...mine was rare. Maybe you should give it a try but to me it wasn't worth the price. If you have a grill, you know what to do. Aesthetic similar to kitschy American burger joints definitely a plus if you're missing home.

A great little restaurant in the heart of Angouleme the best tastiest pizza I’ve had since visiting Florence. Service very good, a very busy restaurant but the waiter took it all in his stride. Will definitely return

Lovely place with nice people. I would say the pizza dough was top notch but no wood oven or maybe not hot enough (400C) electrical/gas makes it somewhat chewy. Less choice would be better too: just ones to be perfected would be good. Still very nice staff , good beer, good wine and easy to perfect.

Small portions. Little flavor…

Having arrived near Angoulème on a MOnday afternoon, our choice of restaurant was a little more restricted but we found this little restaurant on the map and decided this would be the perfect choice for a light dinner with a touch of authenticity. The place is well located but small. Being Monday evening it was very quiet as expected. at the height of the dinner time we were only a total of 5 clients. The atmosphere was really quiet with some relaxing jazzy background music which really suited the mood. We started with 2 grilled duck Baosi which were a bit on the small size followed by 2 Nouilles éternelles, one with beef, the other with pork. We decided to have a bottle of Muscadet which complemented the meal well but wasn't particularly cheap at 17 euros the bottle. No dessert. Total of the bill was 48.70 euros. We still enjoyed our evening and the lady owner was very pleasant.

We have been to Angoulême twice this year and each time we have eaten at this lovely restaurant. The food is really authentic and the owner/chef always comes out to greet and answer any questions. The waitress is very friendly and helpful. If I was asked to recommend a place to eat in Angoulême this restaurant would be top of my list.

Poor food poor service , the broth was tasteless , noodles very heavy and flavourless and no aromatics in the broth , meat lacking flavour . Expensive for small portion one of the worst beef noodle soup I have ever had !

Everything was freshly made. Excellent ingredients. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. Dimsum great. Main dish with hand made noodles at a price that is more than honest.

Very good food in a busy restaurant area on top of Angouleme plateau. The chef/hostess is charming and will explain in detail the menu. We had dim sum as well as a set menu. It was all delicious and some quite invention. Everything is homemade. Try the delicious hot sauce and soy sauce. An excellent experience. Dining inside or out. Very small space so do book ahead.
