Huitres Chagnoleau Roché is a charming little restaurant that truly captures the essence of local cuisine. Nestled along the river, it’s the first cabin you’ll spot on your left as you drive by. This delightful spot specializes in fresh oysters sourced directly from their own production, making it a must-visit for seafood lovers. You can enjoy these delectable treats in a cozy covered seating area right next to the sales counter, where friendly staff are eager to ensure your experience is enjoyable.
Fabulous oysters directly from the producer. You can also eat them there in the covered sitting area next to the sales counter. Lovely people too. This is the first cabin to see on the left as you driven you along the side ofnthe River. Lots of parking available just before the building and a few more places further along. We were touring the area based on visiting oyster villages and these were the best we had. Thank you Matthew 😊

Super fresh products prepared simply with a great service. Cannot think of a better place to go to for straightforward seafood. No fuss, you can go there with your dog. All are welcome: locals, tourists, affluent and those that are not. Great place to finish the day after battling the waves on the cote sauvage.

(Translated by Google) We only tasted a slice of mussels, the taste was perfect, but it is a little complicated to eat them, fortunately there are toilets for washing your hands. The cognac raisin ice cream is great, super good. The service was a little complicated where we went because the lady was not there on the day and only the gentleman was left, he was too busy. But overall, very good product and service. The ambiance is chic yet relaxed, allowing guests to savor cocktails and tapas while enjoying stunning views of the Marennes basin.
Delicious mussels in Pineau and cream sauce, Eclade mussels quite delicious (cooked on a tablet in a blazing fire of hay). Great atmosphere, seemed to be a lot of local people eating there which is always a good sign. Friendly staff too! We'll be back!
Clive L — Google review
Excellent mussles with Pineau sauce, but yet again, another restaurant uncapable of making french fries, the basis of french cuisine. So here's how to make french fries: For the potato, any kind, high on starch. Oil, peanut oil, neutral flavour and high burning point. Blanchir the fries at about 140 deg C. Let them rest outside the oil and increase temperature to 190. At 190 put back the fries in the oil and cook until golden and crispy, they are done. Not that complicated!!!

(Translated by Google) Clean establishment, decent food for the price. The owner could, however, consider putting less pressure on her employees who were running around the restaurant during our entire meal. Relaxing these expectations would allow customers to eat in a quieter environment while extending the service time by just a few minutes, which is largely bearable when you're waiting to eat good food... The waitresses have great professional skills - very cheerful, unlike the owner - which are only diminished by the fatigue caused by the hectic pace imposed on them.

13 of us had a terrific family meal here on the terrace. The service was excellent- it isn’t always easy in restaurants with 6 young grandchildren but they managed extremely well. We all thought the food presentation- particularly the langoustines - was first rate. Wines were reasonably priced as indeed was the food and being outside there was lots for the young to do. Highly recommended! Bravo Pascal, Victor et Beatrice!

Update: Another owner change since July. No more plateau de fruits de mer. Disappointing. Helpful waitress. ---- Good ambiance, good food worth checking out! <<<Initial post<<< ---- Returning a couple of years later post pandemic the owner appears to have changed and the quality of dishes as well. Real shame this has been a favourite for years. Probably wouldn't return. Real shame. Service is 5 stars as we see in more and more restaurants, shame they don't own!

We went for a Sunday lunch hoping to have a nice meal. 3 adults. While 2 of the dishes were acceptable, mine was an overpriced plate of shellfish (pétoncles i think) "en persillade" where the persillade was only a faint hint here and there and the shellfish was gritty with sand. The whole meal was mediocre, and without any character. The foodies that we are were very disappointed. The waiter tried his best and comped 2 coffees to console me.

Guests can enjoy their meals on a lovely terrace overlooking the waterfront, making it a perfect spot to savor delicious dishes while soaking up the picturesque surroundings.
Outstanding! Fantastic and friendly staff, delicious and well presented food in a fabulous setting. Cannot recommend this popular restaurant more highly. The restaurant has a number of seating areas, outside on the opposite side of of the road, and covered area overlooking the road and then into the main restaurant with widows out of the back looking over the oyster beds and where you can dine watching the sun set. We were served by Marem who was incredibly friendly, and who guided us through items on the menu. Nothing seemed to be a problem and all delivered with a smile. We were not rushed and able to really enjoy the restaurant experience. We had the Teriyaki Salmon and Crispy Goats Cheese with Figs and Pickled Walnuts. To follow we had Sole Meunière with Capers and the Wok style Prawns. Finally Carpaccio of Pineapple with ice cream and a Crème Brûlée. The Sole was cooked to perfection with an abundance of vegetables and loved the Wok Prawns. All the staff were extremely friendly and we were made to feel most welcome. One of our favourite meals of a month long trip to France. We had gone in earlier in the day to book a table which is definitely advisable as the restaurant gets busy. There is parking on the street outside.

Lovely food. Slow service. We both had the crab soup which was delicious. The oysters are beautifully presented and very tasty. They come with a side of veg. We ordered chips but they are not necessary as the soup is very filling. For desert my husband had The Floating Island desert which he loved. I went for ice cream which was lovely but I should have Ben more adventurous

Great family diner experience. I had a “bouna “, kids got a usual kid menu with fries … always a success, and the other adults had a sea-bass menu with vegetables. The food is very good local food; and a of good quality compared to tourists places. Note that this is a tourists’ restaurant but you have to know the address. The service is on top, great welcoming. Decoration is sea oriented and the restaurant is divided in three: inside and a covered terrace, and a non covered terrace by the canal. There are plenty of rooms between tables and it is is comfy for all in this season (April) Lots of cocktails, desserts, sea menu. - success guaranteed

Well what can I say about this lovely restaurant? This place is a gem! We saw it amidst a long line of similar restaurants but immediately felt comfortable from the moment we spoke to Jeremy. The ambience was sublime, the food delicious, the service exemplary and the cost very reasonable. My wife and I loved every mouthful and greatly appreciated the care and attention of the staff. As a bonus Jeremy spoke good English which made choosing our meal a little easier. I cannot recommend this lovely restaurant enough, so much so we have booked to return next weekend. 👏👏👏👏

Wife had the best Cesar salad ever, but my steak was hard as rubber. I suspect that they found the toughest part of the beef to serve me. The bearnaise sauce was too much vinegary, but the ratatouille was superb. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back for more here.

Nestled under the shade of pine trees, La Table de la Cèpe offers diners a breathtaking view of Île d'Oléron and the vast Atlantic Ocean. While primarily known for its seafood dishes, La Table de la Cèpe is also incredibly accommodating to vegetarians and vegans, ensuring that everyone in your party can enjoy a delightful meal.
Excellent cuisine at a very reasonable price, with quick and honest attention. The puree with fennel and the celery risotto were phenomenal, and both sides complemented their seafood pushing it to the next level.

This place is great! Despite the fact that they are primarily a fish restaurant, when I called to make a booking, and I explained that I was vegetarian and asked if they would be able to accommodate me (as well as the rest of the group, who all eat meat/fish), they were brilliant. They first confirmed whether I was vegetarian or vegan (and were happy to accommodate either), and then asked a few questions to make sure that they knew exactly what I was happy with. When I got there, the chef had designed a separate vegetarian three course meal for me, and it was delicious!! Very fresh, and in season produce, lovely flavours... it was incredible! It was so nice to be able to go out and have something that had just as much thought put into it as any of the meat/fish dishes (which the rest of the group thought were delicious too!). The desserts were amazing, especially the chocolate mouse pin-cone, with caramel!! Will definitely be coming back!

Additionally, it would be helpful if the service informed customers about oyster season, as I had gastro after eating a starter of 6 oysters. Otherwise, the atmosphere and service are excellent. (Translated by Google) During my visit, I enjoyed oysters and a mussel eclade. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated; you quickly feel at home. The oysters are beautifully presented with wholemeal bread, butter, and lemon; they were excellent. The mussel eclade was very good and served on a wooden board in the traditional style. During the meal, the oysters weren't cooked enough for my liking, so I asked for the dish to be recooked a little, which didn't cause any problems. During our lunch, the owner went around the tables to check if everything was okay; it's a rather pleasant thing and a sign of professionalism. The service, perhaps a little too "dry," our waitress was very polite and responsive, but a little too hasty in taking orders and changing dishes. I have very good memories of the establishment and will happily return there on my next trip.

Adult menu between approximately €18 and €30. Plenty of plates and good quality. Fast and attentive staff (they ask if the mussel eclade is cooked and recook it if necessary). The restaurant focuses mainly on seafood (they are their own producers). You can buy their oysters on site. 🦪 We give 4 🌟 everywhere because there's always room for improvement!

Beach Bistro - Le Grand Chalet offers a delightful seaside dining experience that is sure to impress. Nestled right by the beach, this charming restaurant boasts a spacious terrace where guests can enjoy stunning views of the ocean and the picturesque island of Oleron. While the menu leans towards simplicity, it captures the essence of bistro dining with delicious offerings that are well worth their slightly elevated price point. The ambiance is lively, though it can get a bit noisy at times due to its popularity among visitors.
Excellent all round hotel right on the beach. Friendly and helpful staff, smart public rooms, terraces, pool and bedrooms. Limited on-site parking but plenty on street and free. Dog friendly too. Plenty of menu options for all tastes (I think!).

Perfect place to enjoy nice cocktails, fresh food with view on the ocean with a nice sunset. The restaurant is very comfy and elegant. The food is very tasty. The owners are also very welcoming. Thank you we had a great time!

We organized a dinner at the restaurant for a large group. Service was delightful and very attentive, the food and drinks however were a missed opportunity. Presentations were beautiful but the flavors missed the boat. The cocktails, lacked the sufficient quantities of essential ingredients and we’re mostly quite bland. Entrees such as beef tartare lacked flavor and the pork main dish, while beautifully presented with a lovely sweet sauce was mostly fat which deterred from the pleasure of enjoying the meat. We all enjoyed our deserts. I apologize for this not so perfect review because I really enjoy this venue and have had some lovely meals here in the past. The staff is delightful welcoming and very attentive and I wish the restaurant much success.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, not too professional! Running out of Camembert on a Friday evening at 9 p.m. when there is a "cheese salad" with "roasted Camembert" at the top of the menu is, in my opinion, unacceptable, especially since this was not specified at the time of order taking. Having been the only one to show my dissatisfaction, I was treated to a small commercial gesture with a little extra in my hot goat cheese salad. But three of us were deprived of “cheese salad”!!! I appreciated their gesture but, if I went back, I wouldn't forget to call them first to find out if they had the time and presence of mind to do their shopping! That said, the pizzas are good and the staff are friendly!

Nestled in a charming corner of La Tremblade, La Grève is a delightful seaside restaurant that captures the essence of coastal dining. This hidden gem boasts an enchanting atmosphere where the sea breeze mingles with the aroma of fresh seafood. The young and enthusiastic staff ensure prompt service, making your experience even more enjoyable. La Grève specializes in an impressive array of shellfish, featuring everything from succulent oysters to plump prawns and clams.
A very amazing small seaside restaurant, because we don't know much about this area, we found it through Google Maps. The dining environment here is very special, with an idyllic atmosphere and the taste of sea breeze. The staff are young, very enthusiastic, and the speed of serving food is even faster. Their wine list is excellent, well chosen and even the wines sold by the glass are excellent. The ingredients of the dishes are very fresh, especially the shrimp and oysters. If you want to eat nearby, don't miss this place.

Great seafood platter. It's one of the best shrimps I ever had!
Koen V — Google review
Fantastic little restaurant on the edge of La Tremblade. Pretty much wall to wall shellfish with a menu that leans heavily on the fruits de la mer options - oysters, prawns, clams etc. Cooked and raw oyster dishes, various seafood platters, flambeed prawns, classic moules dishes and also a chicken and chips option for the awkward one in your group who doesn't (or can't) eat shellfish. There's a kids' menu (loulous) but nothing really for vegetarians or vegans (not unusual in this part of France tbh). Not cheap, but not overly expensive either, and good value for really high quality grub in a delightful, if informal setting. Most of the staff speak good English if you need them to. Recommended.
Andrew K — Google review
Great discovery in a lost part of this world. We could have chosen any other restaurant in this dead end lane leading to the pier, for a mussels eclade or simply a plate of 6 oysters but La Grève ticked all the boxes. In the middle of oysters beds and pools, this is a seriously casual seafood restaurant. Nice staff and passionate owner.

Fantastic lunch. Excellent serving staff, my son uses a wheelchair and was made to feel very welcome and accommodated a space for my boy which was great. We all had burgers from the simples menu, a plain hamburger for my son and my wife and I had the cordon blue and vegetarian burger. Both amazing and also opted for the fries which were crispy and golden. Also got a sauce each which was added in the price. With a couple of beers the bill came to 48 euro which was excellent value for money with the portion size and quality of the food. The lady serving us was fantastic and really made us feel at home. Excellent, finally some South East Asian cuisine that tastes like it should! After experiencing many instances of Frenchified South East Asian cuisine while we have been in France, eg vinaigrette on the cucumbers in a so called mi goreng I ordered in La Rochelle, sambal sauce cut with mayonaisse in Lyon, and satay sauce that appeared to be just melted butter with crumbled peanuts in Orleans, it was the most pleasant of surprises to come upon Gili Cafe. We ordered the pad thai and the nasi goreng, with prawn spring rolls to start. As I said, they all tasted as they should, which was good South East Asian cooking. Worth a visit for sure, and if you are a French person who has only experienced Frenchified Asian cuisine at junk places like My Little Warung and such, enlighten yourself to the flavours of the world and go here.

When I ordered my pizza I saw that the young girl who gave the cheese for my pizza to the boss had scratched her nose with a cloth and wiped her hands with it. The boss is not friendly and just gave me my pizza, without a word. The pizza was terrible, the food was probably not fresh. (Translated by Google) Disappointment. Table of 7 with reservation, so we sit at the table. The waiter takes orders, so far so good, apart from the concert music being too loud because we had trouble hearing each other speak. We take a pitcher of wine for €20, what a shame... one of the worst wines we have had to drink. Then, 50 minutes of waiting for 7 dishes (grilled meats, beef tartare and burgers)... what a disappointment, too spicy tartare, overcooked steak. As for the burgers, fries too salty, the sauce too, we asked for rare steaks which arrived more than medium and grilled. The prices in no way justify the far too long service and the dose of spice and salt present in the dishes which could have been excellent. As a bonus, during checkout, the waitress allowed herself to speak informally to one of my colleagues. It's a shame, because without the much too long waiting time and with less spice and salt, as well as a wine worth 20€, we could have had a very good time.

As we passed Wine Not we decided to stop there, without hesitation, for a drink and dinner. We should have moved on... Very disappointed by the service: the waiter did not know how to distinguish a bottle of Burgundy from a bottle of Bordeaux... Moreover, after having told us that there was only three tapas available (at 7 p.m....), we learn, once the tapas are served, that there is no more bread: why not tell us that before...? (Translated by Google) Although not totally disappointed with the restaurant, I have to be honest about the experience my friends and I had one evening in August. The table was reserved at 8 p.m., we arrived at 7:45 p.m. (a little early therefore) but we were very well received by the waitresses, who after our request to be moved outside were very attentive and receptive to our request, a very good point. When it came to ordering, nothing to say again about the smiling waitresses who were able to put us at ease regarding the meal we were about to share. However, big problems arose afterwards... Already, the wait between the starters and the main courses was, hold on to your hats, more than an hour and a half... Despite our dissatisfaction, the waitresses (poor things) knew how to remain attentive and understanding, explaining the situation to us clearly: there are big problems in the kitchen (to say the least). Once our dishes arrived, a rib-eye steak requested medium arrived rare, so my (brave) friend decided to send it back to the kitchen, and there... another 45 precious minutes passed before it arrived, which of course came back with practically the same cooking... Annoyed by the situation and concerned about the hours passing, my friend decided to eat it as it was despite his second disappointment. However, the professionalism of the waitresses is still to be noted in this kind of crisis situation. At the end of our meal, we were able to exchange a discussion with them explaining that we had come to the wrong evening, which explains the other very positive reviews. In addition, in view of the dinner we had just had, our table was entirely offered to us by the house, which we thank again for this remarkable professional gesture. This is why, despite the experience, I did not want to devalue this brand, which I think in normal times is very promising. I would also like to add some positive points about the food, which was excellent, and the setting very pleasant. I recommend!

The place itself is absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere is truly lovely and inviting. Unfortunately, the food does not match the setting at all. The fries were cold and dripping with oil honestly quite disgusting. The staff seemed like waiters in training and when it came time to pay, they even announced the total bill out loud, which felt really unprofessional. Such a shame, because the restaurant looks amazing, but the food and service need serious improvement. unfortunately I do not recommend it…

Réception: welcoming and friendly Room: got a room for 3 for a couple so slightly more space as the double rooms are small. One of the windows couldn’t open and we told housekeeping who kindly provided a fan and send someone to repair the window. Cleanliness and housekeeping: we were not happy to find tufts of hair in the shower on the d’y of our arrival. We stayed 5 nights and our shampoo was not refilled after the 3rd and 4 th day even though we were to our last bottle. Disappointing for a 3* hotel Restaurant: closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so no drinks at the beach bar and no food service at the restaurant until Wednesday. We were present to reserve the table we wanted at 4pm but when we arrived at 7pm we were told we could not have the table when 3 hours ago it’s confirmed that our reservation was good. Not even an excuse. Total lack of respect and couldn’t care less attitude. Food was ok but meat was overcooked. Not worth a visit! Hotel: one of the nights the restaurant service team was screaming, shouting and talking loudly until 23h30. If you have a room with sea view, like we did, you won’t get any sleep before midnight On Friday night, guests arrived for a wedding on Saturday night. We’re told the restaurant was fully booked (anyway, we have no plans to return) At 23h00 still noisy with voices and musique. So if you are looking for a calm place to spend your vacation this is not the place. Noticed half of the guests don’t wear a mask in the hotel and there is no check. On our 4th night, the entry code to the main door for 21h was changed. No one bothered to inform us.

(Translated by Google) The pizzas are, in our opinion, the best in Ronce. We were able to try others (Estran, Rémi Gusto) but those of the 2 guys are on another level, especially the toppings which have a really good taste. Burrata, tomato sauce, ham, olives,... Nothing to do with the others. My only downside is that I would have liked a thin crust (Roman style) which we don't have in Ronce, but that's my personal taste. The Neapolitan-style crust is otherwise good (same as the others). I put it in the oven to get a crispy crust because it was for takeaway. Really, go for it, you'll see!

But the food, unfortunately, isn't up to par. The nuggets served on the children's menu were of poor quality, and the prices are far too high for what they are. We had attended a food truck event a few days earlier, with much more flavor and generosity for a similar price. It's a shame; the setting and welcome are good, but the quality of the products really needs to be improved. Martin Plage is a charming and warm restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. The well-kept house with a beautiful terrace and stylish interior creates a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. The owners, Romuald and Maite, welcome guests with bright smiles and serve quality cuisine that includes delicious home-cooked meals and fantastic seafood dishes for fish enthusiasts. In addition to their exquisite food, the restaurant also offers great cocktails, awesome burgers, and amazing desserts.

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel as it was literally the only restaurant open in the area on a Tuesday night in May. We had not booked, but we were arrived as it opened and the friendly staff accommodated us. Service was friendly and efficient, and we were well looked after as the restaurant filled up. The food was good, although the fish was a little overcooked. The squid was good and had deep flavours, deserts were nice. The menu is small and there were some specials on offer. Prices seemed reasonable. The restaurant has an attractive terrace for outside dining in warmer weather, the main restaurant is bright with big windows, however there is another seating area which is darker, so if possible book the front part of the restaurant.

We decided to go to Martin Place as we really liked the the look of the building and beautifully decorated outside sitting area. We booked a table in advance and were seated upon our arrival on a table around the corner from the main entrance right next to the road. The owner explained to us that because we had dogs with us and there were more guests with dogs due to arrive she wanted us to sit on the least nice table. It should be noted that the restaurant was completely empty when we got there and only one more couple sat down when we left. The service was really poor - it’s not just that the staff forgot some of our orders, but also when we asked for the missing drinks or dips we were met with disapproving looks. Especially the male waiter seemed very displeased with our presence and the tone we were addressed with was nothing but rude. We had intended to stay for dessert and a few cocktails but left right after the main course. We noticed the staff was friendly to the other couple in the restaurant so maybe they just treated us poorly cause we’re tourists but we don’t really know. My friend really enjoyed her burger and I loved the homemade chips which is why I’m giving this two stars instead of one, but the overall experience was really negative. The pricing is pretty dear for the area as well so if you’re on holiday there try the restaurants right next to the fair.

A beautiful quaint restaurant with that family feeling. Martin Plage is everything it promises to be when you see the well kept house with it’s beautiful terrace and it’s posh yet cheeky interior. The owners are lovely and the food is fantastique. I think after my third pirneau I called it paradise. The food from concept, quality and presentation is very good and I would advise this restaurant to any fish enthusiasts. However they also do sexy burgers. My only advice would be to double fry the chips. But that is from a cook to cook I give this restaurant my 5 star ratings and will be back

(Translated by Google) A true culinary gem! 🍕 From the moment you arrive, you feel like part of the family: warm, attentive, and welcoming. The pizzas are simply incredible: a thin, light crust, cooked to perfection, with fresh and flavorful ingredients that explode in your mouth. You can immediately feel the expertise and passion behind each plate. A special mention goes to the Indian pizza, which was a pure delight 😍. The value for money is unbeatable, and the friendly atmosphere makes the meal even more enjoyable. Without hesitation, the best pizzeria in the area. A place we'll happily return to again and again! Absolutely fantastic food! Every bite was just perfect. The flavours the seasoning, everything was truly delicious. The only negative was that the chairs on the tables for two are super uncomfortable. But it was a small thing.

(Translated by Google) What a nice place this was! Really enjoyed this hospitable place with the nice straw parasols on the terrace. A family business with delicious fresh seafood. We ate the oysters that they grow/catch themselves next to the restaurant. The shrimps were deliciously flambéed with cognac and the mussels were cooked in a delicious spicy stock. We also ate crab legs and the fish rilette. The regional sauvignon blanc with it was great and very affordable. Also nice sometimes. Those kids ate delicious fries and even the little ones mussels. Really a relaxing place in the evening sun.
