Excellent place to dine in the evening near the neoclassical government building in the Central square of Sparta. Outside seating and indoor seating. The meat platter was humongous and more than enough for our party of nine. The house wine both red and white was delicious. They home-cooked dolmades were prepared in the classic Greek style.

Food was somehow ok but not very impressive. Menu was extensive but unfortunately some of the dishes listed in the menu were not available to order. Staff were nice and polite. We were served fast. Menu was available in English. It was clean and organized. Meal size was logical but it was a bit expensive for the quality of the experience we received.

Been going to kapari for about 15 years now. Was back there last night. Food is always great. Staff is great George the owner is the best the mousaka is the best I’ve ever had. No one comes close everything on the menu is great. Not once have we ever had a bad meal. I’ve recommended kapari to everyone from NY THAT VISITS SPARTI 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷everyone that has been there loved it. A classic Greek taverna with a beautiful mountain location, surrounded by charming old buildings. The food was quite tasty, and the service was decent, with everything prepared quickly. The Greek salad was presented beautifully, and everything was cold and refreshing, perfect for a warm day. The view from the restaurant was lovely, adding to the experience. One downside was that it was an unusually hot day, and the outdoor fan couldn’t keep up, while the indoor area didn’t have air conditioning. On the plus side, the restaurant has its own parking, which is very convenient in this area. Overall, a nice place to stop for a meal if you are nearby.

This place was recommended to us by several Greek people who live locally. It did not disappoint. The food was of a really high standard. I had orzo mushrooms with truffle which were fabulous and my husband had what he described as the best moussaka he's ever eaten. Highly recommend

I had five lovely meals here during my stay at Mystras. Good food nicely presented and very friendly, attentive staff. I’ve been to Mystras perhaps 20 times in the last 34 years passing from backpacking bread and jam to a lovely place like this. This is definitely top of my favourites now.

We had lunch after visiting Mystras and enjoyed it. We had Peloponnesian salads and the meatballs as a starter. Portions are generous. Service was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the patio seating.

As a Greek American who has been to Greece 35 times In can highly recommend this wonder restaurant. Unfortunately I tore into my all meat kebab, and could not get a photo. The Greek salad was excellent and very large..I would recommend a couple get a Greek salad and the all meat souvlaki. Then you have plenty of room for trying a few other items. The prices are great and so is the local wine. My wife loved her chicken. Order more and try more Sorry the only photo I got was of the chicken

A hidden gem near Mistras! 🌸 Chromata (which means “colors”) lives up to its name — bursting with flavor, creativity, and the most stunning view over the valley. Exceptional evening at Chromata. We were recommended this restaurant by another guest at our hotel who was a local and said it was the best food in the region. He wasn't wrong - subtle combinations of flavours, very generous portions and beautifully cooked food. The atmosphere was perfection - a homely fantasy world with little treasures and personal design features wherever you look. A perfect evening with a welcoming host who very kindly explained as much as possible in English which we greatly appreciated. If you're in the area - go visit!

Hidden gem up in the mountain, the steep walk (or drive) up is definitely worth it. Great good, very friendly staff and an amazing view over Sparta valley, make it the perfect diner location

Chromatic is one of the best hidden gems I've ever been too further more actually one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in period. The atmosphere and the views are absolutely beautiful 👌 but the main show us the food. Holy smokes head chef George prepares a menu of beautiful fresh flavours that are locally sourced and keep giving with each bite. Every dish was freshly prepared and cooked to perfection 👌 Easily the top recommended place I've eaten in Greece and especially if you're in mystra area! Please do yourself a favor and visit this place enjoy the food and the vibe and ya thank me later. -10/10-

I've never had a better view while eating such nicely prepared food. They cook using local, in season ingredients which makes the food just that much better. The menu varies based on what's available. I had the orzo dish, it was fantastic. This place is extremely popular, you might get away with being able to just show up in the early afternoon, but for a late afternoon /evening meal you'd better make reservations.

Very nice restaurant, nice menu with some greek and more international dishes. Very tasty. Amazing orange cake for dessert, nice green salad (cf photo), nice and original Ozzo, nice pasta with mushrooms, nice hand made pastry. We were 11 and all very happy of our dishes! You will find a photo of the English menu attached. Incredible view from the terrace. The servers were very nice too. Overall among our best restaurants in Grece so far! Two small points of attention : Service took quite some time, so don’t come if you’re in a big rush (or tell the servers). The road is quite narrow to get to it and goes high. But even with a big van we figured out how to almost reach the restaurant and finish by foot.

Great food and great view of the valley of Sparta. A little difficult to get to but once you’re there. You would love the views and food.

If you want to try real greek food, this is the place. Local fresh ingredients, skillful cooking and grilling and lovely genuine people. Some of the most juicy tender steaks and by far the best mousaka I've had in years. We will be back for sure

Home made , delicious food !! We love places like this - authentic, unapologetic, broken English but lots of love and delicious food ! The dishes are simple focusing on the flavour - we had selections of starters : tzatziki , baked feta , zucchini chips , meatballs in tomato sauce and absolutely delicious grilled lamb chops It was a rainy evening so the taverna was empty but within 30min people started gathering , the atmosphere’s welcoming and friendly and the cake at the end !!! I think it was a polenta cake soaked in delicious syrup - stunning !! Thank you for having us Maria & team

Taverna Xenia, highly recommendable plca for a stop after visiting the castle, palace and monastery of Mistras. Excellent local traditional food, well prepared and served from the friendly owners. Outstanding view over Mistras and Sparta. We will come back again.

Best Moussaka we have ever tried! Pizza and the rest of the dishes were also delicious. The bread was freshly baked and the olive oil served with it was simple but perfect. Would definitely recommend after a visit (climb!) to the nearby Mystras archeological site.

Lovely restaurant near the archaeological site of Mystras. Good selection of Greek and Italian foods; delicious Xenia salad and slow cooked veal. Also their Orange Cake for dessert was fantastic! Service was friendly and accommodated our large group. Beautiful view of the Sparta valley from the terrace and plenty of free parking.

My wife and I stopped here after visiting Mystras. We enjoyed glorious views overlooking olive groves and the city of Sparta. Service was prompt and very friendly and the food was delicious.

I've been there third time and this time was the last one. We drove specially thru Sparta because of En Chatipi but couldn't eat. Why? Because the was no food. The waiter told us that the most positions from menu are out. At least the waiter took away the menu informing us that there is nothing to eat.

Amazing. Fire place keeps the place warm and cozy, good music at a good volume, and fresh flowers had a sweet scent Portions were large. Started off with fresh bread (so much!). I had a huge 'range free' steak for 9.5 euros, delicious. Big greek salad, fresh veggies, with a lot of feta. French fries were fresh too. They were all also super nice!

The food was average. We ordered a roast pig with a side of french fries, they made a mistake and gave us oven potatoes. Black Eyed Peas, which were delicious. Beef giovetsi, which was also mediocre (tasteless). The olive oil on the bread was exceptional as was the local beer, Sparta. Staff, Hristos, was very friendly and accommodating. How does choose the specialties on the menu.

The food was tasty, the waiter very friendly at first and made nice dishes recommendations. However I disliked the dishonesty of forcing us into ordering desserts we didn’t want, which we felt forced to accept out of politeness ‘just a little taste’ he said. And then charged us 2x 4.50€ for it 😅. (My moussaka was 9€, so def if I knew this was a price and not on the restaurant I would have passed). This made me feel like a tourist. It started really well and food was really good but ended because of that on a bitter note.

Good place for Greek food in Mystras. Staff was friendly but not too quick. Unfortunately a lot of options from the menu were not available limiting the options, this included all fish from the menu. The Tzatziki and Greek salad were especially tasty.

The best oven potatoes I've ever had and there is almost a competition among my greek relatives as to who make the best, this place takes the win! The souvlaki was amazing as well as it was the greek salad. Prices were very reasonable and the wine was of good quality.

We chose this restaurant after reading the positive reviews, my first impression was that almost every table had not been cleared, which I am not used to in Greece. The food was fine, nothing great but equally not anything to shout about and the staff lacked the usual Greek hospitality.

This is my first trip to Greece. Therefore, I won't pretend to be a specialist, but this place seems to serve decent classic tavern fare. Nice outside seating area. Service not up to the level we are used to in the US, but that may be a cultural thing... Let's just say that once your food has been brought out, you're on your own. Getting the waiter's attention was a bit challenging as the poor guy was the only one waiting on the entire restaurant. This being said, the food was good, we particularly liked the local sausage with orange zest, really delicious. And the complimentary orange cake we were given for dessert was outstanding! We would definitely eat there again.

The outdoor seating was very comfortable. I had the gnocchi and it was rich, creamy, and delicious. The bread was served with a couple different spreads, including a savory, warm roasted beet spread. Good service. Recommended.

Their fillet with fig, gnocchi, and cream sauce is absolutely killer! It's a cool spot, right next to the statue of Leonidas and away from the noise of the town square.

I have eaten here many times and the food has always been delicious and generous portions. Good service, relaxing music, nearby street parking. But there is one thing I must add - soooooo clean! Lovely white linen tablecloths and toilets also very clean. Good value for money. One of my favourite restaurants in Sparta.

Positives: Very good food. Nice modern restaurant. Very nice personal. Negatives: I saw, that bringing a napkins with a food in this restaurant is not a standard. Bringing small plates before we even ordered a food, I don’t know why we had them 😀 And the menu doesn’t have English version so you have to translate everything from Greek. (I would understand that if it would be in the village in the middle of Greece, but Sparta has a many tourists coming and I think it is not that hard to translate the menu’s at least to English, not all of us speak Greek 🙂)

Dusty place with creepy caged parrot : run ! After visiting the archeological Park, we wanted to have diner at this place but chose to leave after our drink : the place looks filthy (stains on the table sheets, dusty chairs, menus in shambles and barely readable..). But most of all, the PARROT's presence is what convinced us to leave : the animal is going nuts in a cage so small it cannot even spread its wings and is constantly crying for attention. To the owner's own admission, the bird never gets to go out of its cage. It feels like animal abuse and the overall vibe of the restaurant is thus pretty creepy, with prices on the menu more expensive than the average in Mystras. People, even if you think it's cute, stop cautioning with your money this kind of practice. There are enough suffering stray animals in Greece to add the exotic caged birds to the list.

Very relaxing atmosphere. Owner was super friendly and accommodating. Be sure to buy his homemade olive oil! Is olives were some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Really enjoyed our experience on the patio overlooking the beauty of the region.

They serve delicious vegetarian, fish, and meat options, plus great coffee and desserts all made with heart!

Food was okay, view was great...but when we got the bill it was almost TWICE as high as we thought. He charged everything inc the offered coffee and 'free' desert, 'free' bread etc etc...in total we paid 30 euros extra with 4 persons. THIS STUFF NEEDS TO END!

One of the few places to go if you are in Sparta and you decide to go out with the family on foot. We went to that place more than once last summer and I found the service and the quality of food to be less than average. The pasta sauce tasted really bad and I would have sworn it was ready-made from the supermarket. Not even the kids ate it. We also ordered 3 glasses of white wine and it was warm when it arrived to us. Not much of a variety either. Another day we ordered 2 glasses of red dry wine and they brought us house wine, which was awful. Really the worst house wine I 've ever tasted. Finally, we found also the prices on the high side. 2 stars.

One of the best spots for a great coffee drunk and or a mixed drink and bar. Food has always been good, and the drinks always spot on. Service needs a bit of help at times as it can get packed at different times of the day. Outdoor / Indoor seating. Can get a bit noisy as it is a good place for all the family to come. But don't let that dissuade you. And if you like mixed drinks, it has a good one behind the bar that does some great things.

Cozy, warm, relaxing interior design with pleasant people and stuff willing to make you feel most welcome with their smile and prosperous recommendations. Perfect for families with children, especially outside because of the square field play. Sweets and beverages with love and affection. A unique Espresso quality is all you need for a couple of moments to rest your soul and your mind. A spot you can't miss when you are around the town.

Good service and great cocktails but not cheap. The big problem I find it's very noisy. Parents bring and let their children scream and yell at the restaurant instead of getting them to play in the spacious town square. You cannot have a quiet conversation and/or enjoy food or drinks with friends. I feel that I'm sitting in a children's playground.

Big thanks for the waitress, who served us. Apparently she was the only one who took real care of us. The food we received (sausages, cheeseburger, caesar salad and tomahawk steak) were fine, but nothing stands out from the other places offering grilled meals. Sadly, due to the rain we were forced to sit inside, what was barely comfortable, the interior is not prepared for guests, the main focus is on the patio where there are numerous tables and seating opportunities. I bet there are some better venues in Sparta than Meat + Eat, but to be fair, this place is not bad either.

I was looking for gyros and was not disappointed that I ended up in this restaurant. The food was great with very nice portions. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a nice covered area for eating outside behind the restaurant next to the town square. The price was very affordable and they had an English version of the menu.

Best food that we found in Sparta. Went two nights in a row. Handmade burgers even! It is inexpensive and the staff is great. We lucked out one night and ate during happy hour (4-6pm) and everything was 50% off.

YiaYia's (grand-mother's) kitchen is nicely situated on the big square to enjoy a late afternoon drink or some scrummy food at reasonable prices. Also the service was very friendly.The name says it all. YiaYia, which means Grandma in Greek, handed down all the family recipeswhich are proudly listed on the menu, along with some less traditional entrees. Food was absolutely delicious.

Accessable from the main square it has indoor and outdoor seating. Reccommend the Kinoa salad. Portiin sizes are not large so is excellent to sample multiple dishes the greek way.

TOURIST TRAP Here is a restaurant trying to hold on to it's former glory that does not want to move forward. Four of us went for a late lunch and ordered mains and salads. After a while the salads and three mains were brought to us with the bread basket and no cutlery. After waiting 10 minutes one of us went inside and informed them. Finally our last meal was brought out with cutlery for one person. Waited for 5 minutes and informed them again that we needed cutlery. Got the cutlery and started eating a what can only be described as a very very poor meal.. Mate, let me give you the news. We are locals to Greece and know what good Greek food is. Pity yours isn't. Just in case you forgot which I doubt it, Briam is made up of an equal percentage of vegetables, not 90% potatoes. Also is is in the lathera group of dishes because it is supposed to have a big dose of olive oil in it. The oil was minimal and most likely mixed with some sort of vegetable oil. I know it mate because I've been eating good quality olive oil from my families groves for decades. Shame on you for trying to stooge us. Tourist trap.

A nice, informal place to go for a quiet lunch. You see what's available in a display case, you make your selections, and they bring it to your table. I watched two tortoises casually strolling through the garden as I ate.

This is important. I went here a few years ago on my first day in Greece. The moussaka here is the best in Greece. My wife and I traveled around Greece for two weeks and I had moussaka for every dinner, trying to find some place that compared to this restaurant. None of them do. Best moussaka in Greece.

Seems a little underrated traditional Greek restaurant. If you are fed up with souvlaki and gyros and want to taste real Greek food just get into... to taste Greek cousin sitting in the garden under some lemon trees. The owner made a plate with good selection of food, I really enjoyed every moment in this restaurant.

This is a delightful place to eat. My wife and I walked in not knowing what to expect. A man (who turned out to be the owner) started talking with us and explaining what food they had. After a little conversation, he said he would make us a lamb dish with eggplant and potatoes. All I can say is that, from first bite to last, it was delicious! We enjoyed sitting in the beautiful garden behind the restaurant looking at the citrus trees and relishing the cool breeze. The owner served us himself and talked with us for a while. I already told some friends about this place and they enjoyed it too. I'll only be in Sparti for a week, but I'll eat here again before we leave.

Pizza is just a frozen pizza with some extra cheese and oliveoil, the burger and pasta were bad and there is no passion in the food. Food was very underwhelming and staff turned rude when we spoke about the quality. A No from me.

Because I was cramped for time, they suggested the stuffed wine leaves with fries which were very, very tasty. Friendly people who speak wonderful English. Just a very chill place to enjoy authenric Greek food. Intend to go back next week for a traditional grilled meat platter.

Excellent place great service clean and quiet and beautifully decorated the flowers surrounding it make it feel so peaceful and beautiful and the food was wonderful do try their homemade moussaka. I have to say that their moussaka is one of the best that I have eaten in Greece.

The Mafia exceeded our expectations for vegan dining! Their diverse menu offered excellent plant-based choices. We savored the perfectly grilled pleurotus mushrooms, whose earthy flavor was wonderfully complemented by a sweet potato puree. The vegan special pizza was also a standout – flavorful and satisfying. Service was exceptional, with staff who were both helpful and genuinely welcoming. A definite must-try!

Not what it used to be. Salad was good but little bits of cucumber, so so feta at best and the pizza was nothing like it was 2 years ago.

We had a great meal at The Mafia! My husband and I are vegan and were there with my omnivore parents. My husband got the vegan margarita pizza, I got the vegan penne, and we split the 4 seasons salad. All of the food was excellent, the vegan feta in the salad was great. Service was wonderful as well. Highly recommend if you're looking for a vegan option (or non-vegan option) in Sparti.

The gyro pita wrap was very good. The waitress had difficulty understanding English so it took a while to get our order correct and then due to the confusion, our two sandwiches, a beer and wine was 25 euros. I cannot confirm good opinions here. The set of Greek appetizers (skordalia, fava, tzatziki) was good, indeed. The main course was not. Shashlik (I forgot the local name) had many fatty, barely edible pieces. Chips were merely warm and soft - presumably fried earlier and kept under cover. Last but not least, the staff does not speak English, which lead to miscommunication and unnecessary ordering chips twice.

I went here for lunch with my family and we waited for approximately 40 minutes to get even the starters and drinks served. We had ordered 3 dishes, we only got two, leaving my mom with no lunch for around half an hour more. I think it's an universal rule that all of the main courses should be served together. The food was decent and the waitress polite. For the time we wasted waiting, we at least got my mom's order for free in form of a takeout.

Very nice food for incredible prices! The total food is homecooked from the nice ladies in the kitchen! English was quite hard - but the stuffed tomatoes and paprikas where amazing! The price which we payed was overcorrect for the service, but for the food quality it was too cheap! All in all: if you like to eat greek food but in a different way - take that!

A place that you don't expect in a so tiny village. It is situated next to the main square, it has many floors with a nice terrace on the top. The building is really well preserved and well decorated. About food we just had a cappuccino and a club sandwich, but they were really good.

We visited this place a couple of times during a long weekend visit to the area. The food is really tasty and presented with care, which makes for a really enjoyable meal. I have posted a picture of the beetroot salad as an example of some of the food. It was beautiful. We had various dishes and side dishes, and without exception they were full of flavour. It is not just about the food. The staff are friendly, engaging and eager to make sure your visit is enjoyable, which makes a real difference. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. Modern, while keeping the interesting features of the building intact. All-in-all the whole experience was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit, whether it is just for a coffee (I believe there is a coffee shop on the first floor, although I didn't make it that far) or for a whole meal. On a side note, the village itself is going through a very ambitious revitalisation, of which this restaurant seems to be a central part. Through a collaboration of various residents, the aim is to rebuild the village both physically and culturally so that it can be a thriving community, as I'm sure it once was. If their efforts so far are anything to go by it should be an impressive village in a few years. I hope they succeed!

We visited Vamvakou for a coffee and dessert. Excellent choice! Staff is polite, welcoming you at the huge square under the plane tree and just in front of the church ⛪. Gslactoboureko was delicious and even they had no oranga pie, they ordered from the other shop nearby - Parnonas - to please us. Ice cream and karydopita was delicious as well. A really worth visit either for lunch, dinner or dessert and drinks. Don't miss it!

We stopped by for a quick snack and found the food excellent. We had the sausage and fries, cheese and olives and eggplant hand pies.

We didn't get to taste this tavern's food because once we sat down to eat, they announced that they didn't serve the visitors for that day, only the residents of the guest houses of the village. We asked for take away but we had to wait half an hour in the rain for it. So, we decided it wasn't worth it. We drove almost two hours to visit this beautiful village, it was raining all day long and we had two hungry little kids with us. It was the only open place in the village on that day. We felt so dissapointed. We ended up eating at a village 12km away, in Karyes, in a beautiful tavern named Areti that warmed both our hearts and feet :)

Paralia offers authentic local cuisine with home made and home grown ingredients. The appetizers, salads, dips, home grown veggie stews, stuffed zuchinni flowers, and grape leaves, and hortopittes, are the best in the Peloponese. The home made sausages and other grilled meats are lean and tasty cooked to perfection.

Xirokampi is the perfect place to stay when you travel to Sparta, or Kalamata or the Mani region. We stayed above the Paralia Tavern, a wonderful place and we ate at Paralia with great food. We can only recommend you to come here too and you won't regret. We did travel a lot in the world this place is special...

We got there after a long day. I was a bit worried due to some reviews. We ordered stuffed pita small portion with greek salad. It is so big that we barely ate half of it. The service was great. We received mineral water without asking. Also they gave us an extra Spartan bear. The restaurant is frequently used by the local people so the taste is adapted to them.

We stopped at this wonderful spot before our long visit to Mystras. Recommended without reservation.

Appropriate exclusively for meat-lovers who do not mind indoor smoking. A very disappointing experience as it only offered fried dishes of poor quality (omelette, fried cheese, chips) and salad for vegetarians. Also, they allowed indoor smoking. We honestly hope it was just a bad day.

We received a really warm welcome to this taverna. It feels like the beating heart of a lovely mountain village community, with the cafe opposite. We visited three times during our four day stay at nearby Pritanio. Each night we were offered a new menu of dishes, along with a standard menu. The food was good, very reasonably priced and large portions! I particularly enjoyed the locally sourced wild boar and dried fruit stew, with boiled greens foraged from the surrounding mountains (tasted a little like a peppery kale).

Was looking for a cold drink, stayed for a meal and it was the best decision ever. The hostess was so kind, she even translated the entire Greek menu to English for me. I had the locally hunted wild boar/pork and it was amazing. Tzatziki was the second best I've tasted in Greece anywhere, you could taste the love. And a fantastic view to boot!

Getting to this place is an adventure itself, especially from the ancient Mycenae. We went by camper on our way to Sparta. Would not recommend for inexperienced drivers. It took hours and hours for less then 100km (65 miles). But the drive is worth for the atmosphere, for extremely friendly and welcoming staff and for delicious food. We drove literally for a gastronomic journey, and that is exactly what we got. Good beer, fantastic baked Feta in flaky pastry with honey!!!, lamb chops and domestic pork from the grill, along with some fries and Greek salad was all we needed after late afternoon spent hours driving on a road that is more suitable for a rally stage then road for ordinary drivers. The atmosphere was great, tavern was packed with people at 22:10 when we arrived, and we enjoyed every second spent there. Special thanks to the lady that took our order, and once again proved that Greek food has something special to offer to foodies.

We went for a light dinner, but after seeing the menu, we ended up ordering so many items! Ifigenia was incredibly sweet, helping us choose what to order and bringing us jackets since it was quite a chilly June evening. The koukounari salad, mushrooms, fava, and tzatziki were excellent, as were the freshly cut French fries. The white wine was cold, perfect as we sipped it while enjoying the wonderful views of the pine and fir trees, with a few tiled-roof homes scattered among them. The homemade pasta dish with mizithra, as well as the chicken thigh fillet, were tasty. We will definitely come again when the opportunity arises, and I'm sure we'll leave just as satisfied! They are also pet friendly!

Charged us for an extra burger, tried to say we actually did receive the extra burger and/or received one type of burger versus another. Then gave us the bill with no total and we had to manually do the math. Edit: To add to owner’s response: You did not ask for more time to clarify the issue. Instead, the server argued with us multiple times as to why we were wrong, rather than just removing the charge for the extra burger. As customers we should not have to argue with staff over which food we did or did not receive. Receipt issue was very challenging given the above issues. And also not within our control as customers. I know greek people like their burgers different than american people do, but i dont understand why every one of them has tomato on it. I ordered delivery and didnt really notice that till i got it, or I would have asked for it to be removed instead of wasting their tomatoes. It just doesnt go well with some of the burgers honestly. Other than that the food is good, disappointed with the portion of the grilled vegetable side, but very good food either way.

I only had a pizza, but it’s not a traditional Pizza one would expect. I am sure people are used to this pizza, but unfortunately, I am not. The crust is an oily based sweeter bread. And the cheese is not mozzarella. It’s very salty and a heavy, rough texture. Overall, the pizza did not have a good taste. Heavy salt is the flavor that stays with you all night.

This place is definitely not a 5-star restaurant with regard to the food. We have been travelling almost three weeks in Greece now and have eaten way much better! The service was friendly and fast, no doubt about that. The atmosphere was also good. But in general both of our dishes were too salted and we had our doubts with regard to the quality of the meat. This place is perfect for a drink and maybe a small bite, but unfortunately we would not recommend it for an elaborate dinner.

We absolutely love this place which we found by sheer luck on a random day driving up the hill several years ago! If you are looking for a traditional tavern you really have to try it: kagianas (tomato with eggs and feta) is out of this world (you'll probably only find it in the summertime as they are using their own tomatoes from their garden), the pork souvlaki (stick) and grilled chicken is the tastier we have ever tried, fantastic grilled village bread with oil and oregano, fresh salad (try the green one), warm potato salad etc., everything is so tasty and 100% homemade. The lovely ladies who run the place are true gems. If you sit outside on the wooden balcony you have an amazing view of the valley, while inside in the winter it's warm and extra cozy with an old traditional space heater. You'll also hear old Greek songs. Extra: a fantastic, super clean toilet with lots of helpful additions (deodorant, sanitary products etc). We visit it every single time we find ourselves near Sparta during our Peloponnese road trips!

They run out of most oven made dishes by 4pm like every other restaurant, so make sure you go early if you want to partake of the special dishes.
